What a lovely experience! The food was delicious! We had quite the feast: pork belly and whipped potatoes, french onion soup, tomato and mozzarella salad, hearts of lettuce (wedge salad), cowboy steak, creamed spinach, mac and cheese, onion rings, and red velvet brownie. Every single thing was fantastic! In addition to the great food, the service was remarkable. Our waiters Kenneth and Terrence were extremely professional, attentive, and pleasant. The manager, Diego, also checked on us and was really warm. The hostess thanked us by name on the way out. These small touches really made us feel welcomed. I also really liked the ambiance. Most upscale steakhouses are typically dark and stuffy. This one was live and vibrant. The uncovered windows let in sunlight and it really gave it a nice vibe. It had an upscale, after-work cosmopolitan feel but was still cozy for our date night. Adding this spot to my list of favs in the city!

Surf and turf, steak was cooked perfectly, lobster was tender. The asparagus was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The dirty martini was the perfect amount of olive juice. Everything was exceptional. We also had meatballs and bacon wrapped shrimp which were both really good.

Great customer service! The whole wait staff was super attentive. The restaurant had a very nice upper-scale decor. Every item my husband and I ordered was delicious. We had french onion soup, turtle soup, lamb chops, ribeye steak and they even gave me a red velvet brownie for my birthday! It was so good. I would definitely come back the next time I’m in nola.

We visited on 11/3/2021 to celebrate my birthday and the food and service was excellent. We had the Ribeye with lobster tail, the Colorado Lamb Chops, and pork belly as an appetizer. The ribeye was by far the best steak I have ever eaten. I thought the rib cap I had in Vegas was the best, but this was even better! My friend absolutely loved her lamb chops. There is not anything negative I can say about this place! The wait staff were very attentive and courteous and they made my special day even better! I definitely will be back when we visit New Orleans again!

Visiting New Orleans for a conference and had the opportunity to try this restaurant. It was a beautiful walk from the restaurant and stepping into their lobby we were greeting but their staff. We waited in the lobby for all the guests to arrive and then were escorted to the table. We had an amazing tower of delicious appetizers that included lobster tail, oysters, crab, seared tuna, shrimp and much more. Incredible appetizer. Their mixed drinks were excellent as well. I went on to order and enjoy their Wagyu ribeye. It was one of the best steaks I've ever had. Around the table other guests thoroughly enjoyed their dinner and eventual dessert. I highly recommend this restaurant and was blessed to have a friend John Freeman introduce me!

A great experience for my past birthday. I would definitely recommend to make a reservation. The service was the best we experienced in New Orleans. Portherhouse steak for 2 was very good, a little bit overcooked for our liking but probably the best meal we had in New Orleans. The garlic mashed potatoes were also very good. I wasn't as big as a fan of the mac n cheese because it came with lobster. The dessert was terrific and on the house, we also had some coffees after the main meal. The service throughout was superb and was the best part of experience.

Place is a beautiful location about 5 min walk from Superdome and 10 min walk to Bourbon Street. It is a bit hidden in the Lafayette hotel. I would recommend to make reservations to guarantee a spot here. I thought the sides were actually better than the steak here. The lobster Mac n cheese and mashed potatoes were delicious and worth coming back. I found our Porterhouse to be about average. The service was very good and professional. They also gave us a dessert on house because we were celebrating my husband's birthday

We looked over the reviews and had a friend who lives in the region recommend. They certainly did not disappoint!! The food was amazing and the service excellent!!! They bring out hot sizzling plates to put your food on (we had the porterhouse for two) the waitress (Mona Lisa) recommended the blue cheese topping (& I am ever so glad she did!!!) the wine list was amazing and we had a bottle of our favorite red (Duckhorn). BTW try the red velvet brownie-it was to die for!!! While we were there they had a medical emergency (at another table) which they handled with great skill. No one else in the restaurant was the wiser (we are inthe healthcare field) and all of the staff handled the situation so very well. We certainly recommend and whenever we come this way again we will stop here for sure!

Came into New Orleans for our stop over to Florida. The better half knows the Chef named Bugsy. So on a whim wage contacted him and we got a table that evening. WOW! One we were treated just like any other paying customer and a couple of treats from Bugsy. The hostess and wait staff are top notch. Attentive, friendly and fun. A bit of bread that was spot on with the right amount of butter and garlic, lighted toasted and easy on the palette. Drinks were perfect and timely as well. My Lagunitas IPA glass never ran dry. Starters were very good, Ahi tuna stack and calamari but the bacon wrapped crab stuffed shrimp were AMAZING! We all ordered the filet so no variety to report on but each steak was perfect. Black pepper and salt with a bit of butter. The way it should be. I say Yes! Finally some desert. Mocha Carmel chocolate cake, red velvet brownie and Oreo cookie cake. Totally stuffed and happy!

Hands down, Desi Vega's has one of the best happy hour menus in NOLA! Though the space can get a bit tight (due to its popularity, and thus large crowds), the food alone (i.e. small plate options, exquisite flavor profiles, and presentation) easily makes up for it. The service is good and the location is great. A must try if you are visiting the city and in the downtown area. I really enjoyed my time there, despite feeling a little claustrophobic. Will certainly frequent Desi Vega's anytime I am in NOLA!

Desi Vega's Steakhouse is well situated on St-Charles Avenue. We had to change the time of our reservation less than 24 hours prior to the dinner and the hostess was very friendly and accommodating with us. Our waiter and the staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was excellent: we had the lobster bisque and the French onion soup, two of the petite filet (which are not that "petite") and sides of asparagus and Lyonnaise potatoes. Both steaks were delicious and cooked to perfection! I recommend this place if you're looking for an upscale Steakhouse experience in New Orleans.

Such an amazing experience in New Orleans as my wife chose this Steakhouse for my birthday. It was literally a few minutes away from our hotel, The Blake Hotel. So we both took a walk from our hotel on a Tuesday evening and made it to our 8:30pm reservation. The establishment was very busy for a Tuesday evening and I see why, the service was beyond amazing and the staff was very attentive and friendly. I chose the special of the night with a side of Freddie Mac & Cheese and my wife chose the fish entree. A huge selection of great wines and even historic local wines made the menu. The garlic bread was delicious as we probably had three baskets, they were that good. To finish the evening, the brought out the desert with a candle for my birthday. Such an amazing experience and our waiter was phenomenal. I definitely recommend Desi Vegas Steakhouse for any special occasion. You won’t be disappointed as you will be full leaving out of there, I know I was and it’s rare for me to be full and satisfied.

First time here and the steak was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend the porter house for 2. The service was impeccable and Paul provided excellent service. I will recommend this place to everyone who is local. I will be back for the seafood tower.

The lobster and steak medallions were really well done (not really, I eat medium rare but I can't help myself sometimes). I'm sure the garlic mashed potatoes went perfectly. The bernaise sauce was quite unnecessary. The chocolate bread pudding was perfect. I'm glad I avoided the appetizers or I'd be too full. Overall a very reasonable steakhouse. I'd go again but there are a few more in this town and I rarely (intended) eat red meat.

Desi Vegas has been consistently excellent for business lunches. The service is impeccable with managers stopping by the table to check on guests and 2-3 waiters taking care of each table. The food is great. The daily fish is fresh, delicious, and actually rotates.

My opinion best steak in NOLA. Had the the Whu Dat shrimp for a starter then the ribeye topped the steak with blues cheese add onion rings as a side with remoulade dipping sauce. Say at the bar Andrew the bartender was awesome made great recommendations. I recommend this place well work the price.

Very nice dressy casual steakhouse! Atmosphere was great, even at the 9:00 pm hour! Music was upbeat and fun! My steak was cooked just the way I asked. Definitely get the Crab Oscar on top of your steak! Totally delicious!

This place was awesome. Delicious prime beef, awesome sides, nice atmosphere, good wine, and great service. Out wait staff was extremely friendly, and very attentive. We had a great ongoing conversation with then through the course of the night that made us feel welcomed. The food was out of this world. We were given a meatball with some sauce. That's supposedly Desi's mother's recipe. Best meatball I've ever eaten. And it was a little free welcome appetizer. We ordered a filet and a cowboy steak, both were delicious. The eye of the cowboy steak was slightly overcooked, more medium well or well done than medium rare, but the cap and rib were cooked perfectly. That more than made the experience wonderful. Probably one of the better steaks I've had in a restaurant. If you want a nice night out with steak in NOLA, this is the place!

Cornell, Diana, Patrick, Trevor, the hostess (sorry I don't remember her name but she was the beautiful young lady with braids) the managers and valet service that worked on Tuesday February 23, 2021 were beyond AMAZING. Overall it was a really good experience. Excellent service and tasty food. Steaks were a bit overcooked, likely because they were served on a sizzling hot plate and sat too long before being delivered. Minor mistake but at the price the expectations are high so a star is lost.

Great steaks and food but our experience was tarnished when it came to paying for our bill. We were in New Orleans for a company sponsored event and we're given $100 visa gift cards (the perfect gift card) to use freely. This $$$ was to be used for dinner and we were depending on it to have a good time. When the waitress ran the card she automatically forced a 20% tip and only used $80 from the card. She claimed that this was the behavior of the gift card and that she didn't do anything out of the ordinary. Well we checked with our colleagues and NONE of them had this issue at other restaurants in the area. Amazing food but the end left a sour taste in our mouth.

We sat at the bar. This place was a pile of contradictions. We ordered drinks; they were great. We ordered food; it was great. However, the woman who made those great drinks was bordering on rude. We were ready to order more drinks and some dessert, but she never offered. We waited about twenty minutes and gave up. Just for clarity, there were four people at the bar. She was not busy. We finished our evening in a place with more congenial staff.

This was Hands Down the best steak I have ever eaten at a “steak house” and the crawfish twice baked potato was next level. My wife and I easily had a 6 star experience but I had to drop it to 3. I could not wait to eat my leftovers the next day but to my disappointment they did not put them in the bag with my wife’s. Sadly I did not think to check before we left as their version of the Old Fashion was equally outstanding.. I know it’s ridiculous but after 2 days, I’m still mad I didn’t get to taste that ribeye and potato again.

We celebrated our 5th anniversary at Desi Vega’s and the experience was wonderful. There were no reservations available online, however after a quick call to restaurant their concierge was able to squeeze us in last minute which was greatly and unexpectedly appreciated. We used the valet our front as a convenience and the valet was very professional and we did not have any wait time. We were then escorted to the restaurant by no less than what felt by two or three people. When we checked in everyone greeted us by name and congratulated us on our anniversary. We were promptly seated and we had two wonderful servers (Victoria and Brian) who brought us three different menus, took our order, and generally just shared an excellent conversation with us during the night. The food was exceptional. Everything was cooked to perfection, and we sampled quite a few things on the menu. The sizzling crab cake was so flavorful, and it was probably the best bisque I have ever had. The steaks was top notch, and the lobster was so tender and juicy. We had a wonderful experience and will absolutely be planning to return soon. I am disappointed that we have not went before as we were missing out on one of the best restaurants in city.

Absolutely top notch food, service, and atmosphere. You will not find a steakhouse in SELA that is significantly better in any way. Desi Vega’s was able to take our reservation for a party of 12 and didn’t disappoint in any way. It’s a bit loud for those that may prefer a quiet dinner, but that was not a problem for us. Excellent in every way, and most importantly the food was delicious.

The service was excellent 5 star all the way. The food was left lacking. We started with the crab stuffed bacon wrapped shrimp excellent. I then moved on to the wedge salad , not the best , certainly not as described. I the moved to a boneless ribeye and for my side's augratin potatoes and sauté mushrooms . My steak was so salty I had to scrape all the over seasoning with knife. I received mac and cheese in place of potatoes. My mushrooms tasted as though they had been on the line to long. All this being said it was my wife's birthday , and she was enjoying herself. Her meal was almost perfect.

The absolute best steak we've had from a restaurant in about 20 years. That's saying a lot since we eat out and travel a lot. The steaks were seasoned and cooked to perfection. All of the sides were delicious. We ordered creamed Spinach, baked potato Mac and cheese, garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed mushrooms. When I tell you everything was fantastic, I mean it. Both the food and the service were exquisite!

Joined a friend for a birthday dinner! Great attempt by the staff but they really missed the mark on the service. We waited a solid hr for cocktails. We had 3 waiters and I had to actually stand and raise my hand for a waiter to bring us salad dressing. Clearly she had to search for a silver serving boat. We are all aggravated once she finally decided to bring the dressing. After the order was taken we waited 20 minutes for salad and a gumbo. Finally bread came. NO ON EXCEPT PAUL(not 1/3 of our servers) “crumbed” our table - while they were processing our payment. Cesar salad🙄 blah. Filet was cooked perfectly. Butterfly med-warm/pink center. The bday girl was happy so I didn’t comment on anything but I would never recommend a “large party” for this place.

It’s a beautiful dining room with a lovely view of a park. I was immediately seated although I was disdainfully referred to as a walk-in. The acoustics were horrible. Every whisper was a yell. The Starter Salad was delicious and I thought I might lick the plate. I ordered a perfectly prepared New York strip and, sadly, had to saw its perfection in order to eat. The twice-baked potato was flavorful. I enjoyed it very much. My server misunderstood my request for a flavored coffee drink and brought me a coffee flavored martini. No harm I guess. Everyone’s wearing masks and it’s SO noisy those types of mistakes are bound to happen. Had a nice time, but I will never go back. As abundant as good steak houses are go try another one.

Such an excellent experience. The old world details and exposed brick wall really capture an environmental atmosphere that is distinctive. Then the incredible steak experience is again unique. Paired with delicious sides and a good wine, what is not to love. I have been here more than once and plan on it being many.

Service was phenomenal, food was delicious and my cocktail was well made. I had the steak bruschetta appetizer, mixed grill and lyonnaise potatoes. It was a quick birthday lunch with my baby boy before I headed to the day's festivities. I am intrigued to come back and try more things in the near future as I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. I didn't have a reservation but they got me right in thankfully. Next time I'll make a reservation to ensure I have a table bc there was a steady flow of customers.

Valet parking offered, as well as parking meters on the streets. Food is exceptional, and wait staff are personable, quick and joyful when taking order and serving! They are very knowledgeable about their adult beverages, and are ready to recommend wines for pairing with your menu items as well as their daily "specials!" One of few restaurants that have linen tablecloths and napkins, this is an elegant, upscale restaurant with lots of large windows and high ceilings. They also have a separate room for meetings and special occassions. BON APPETIT!

I had a wonderful dinner here. The bacon wrapped shrimp were great as well as the fried green tomatoes. The steak was really good and hot! The peanut butter pie was also delicious. I really liked how all of the waiters came out at once so that everyone's meal was served at exactly the same time, and there were 11 of us so that was noteworthy. The food combined with the ambiance and the service made for a really great evening.

I enjoyed dinner as part of a group dinner from a conference. We had a prie fix dinner. Three courses, soup or salad, main entree and dessert. The seafood corn soup was by far the best of the three. It was very flavorful and tasty with a spiced tones but not spicy. For the second course I ordered the gulf fish which came with vegetables and crab and I found the fish cooked perfectly, flaky and and moist. The final course was a red velvet brownie which was very good and had hints of strawberry with each bite. Service was prompt and attentive with refilling water and drinks. My only critique would be the timing between courses was a bit longer than I would have liked. Overall a. Great place for a corporate scheduled dinner.

Our only disappointment was the noise level in the place - we were there the weekend before Mardi Gras and it was super busy (thankfully we had made reservations) and very loud. It was worth it!

This was my family's first visit to this particular steakhouse. We were there to celebrate my daughter's birthday. We chose this place because another place we wanted didn't work out . A tougher review. Food is fantastic and worth a higher price. Servers were on the ball. There was a ridiculously loud party that ruined the experience for half the restaurant. Management was a little apologetic but never tried to quiet the group at all. We sat right beside them and could see they didn't even try. Likely were worried about backlash from group running up a big tab or from bad social media posts if they tried. Should have more backbone to do the right thing and quiet the group down or ask them to leave.

We had a great first experience at Desi Vega’s last night. Our servers Thomas and his partner (sorry can’t remember his name) were great as was the entire supporting cast. I had turtle soup, best I’ve ever had and my wife enjoyed the French Onion soup also excellent, the garlic French bread was so good for dipping. We also had the ribeye and it was cooked perfectly and the sides of cream spinach and potatoes au gratin were great. Passion fruit cheesecake for dessert. Can’t wait to go back.

Food was beyond amazing. Service was extremely disappointing. Had to wait more than 40 min past our reservation time to be seated despite arriving early. A female member of our party was completely ignored and skipped for gentleman when speaking with the hostess. After being seated despite the fact that we were seated so late, food and app order was not taken for over a 25 min. After eating at most of the fine dinning establishments in NOLA and spending about $200 for a meal, the service was not acceptable or even close to a match for the food being served. Maybe expectations were too high considering after visiting their sister restaurant, the exceptional Mr. John's Steakhouse, which I recommend empathically, but there's is no excuse for being treated as rudely and as an afterthought. Nola has too many outstanding restaurants to every have to go to Desi Vega's Steakhouse again. Three stars only based on the amazing food. Service is definitely one star based on the rude treatment of some of our party and the worthlessness of the reservation.

No clue why I couldn't have had the reservations for 7 instead. Valet was very confusing. The hostess didn't even know what was going on. Aside from that. Service was great. Great bar even made me an old fashioned with Irish whiskey. Onion soup good but a little less than great. However, spinach dip very good and the steak sandwich was a pleasant surprise. Steaks were a little pricy but I enjoyed my meal and the restaurant. Men's room is up stairs and was not particularly clean. Rest of hotel needs a bit of a touch up and perhaps some paint. Street parking is generally available though you may have to walk a bit.

This was an amazing experience from the moment we sat down until the end of dessert. The only downfall was it had to come to an end. I don't normally name drop, but Dennis is probably the best server I have had in the last five years. I ordered the filet medium rare, and the edges of the top tenderloin were more medium (to be clear just the edges... The rest of the filet was perfect) . He made it a point to ask me if it was ok without me saying anything. Most servers don't really take the time to care for their guests after the food reaches the table. He also brought us samples of other food since it was our fist time here. Thank you Dennis for an amazing dining experience. Fantastic dinner with beyond excellent service from Kevin and Diego. We had three apps: steak bruschetta, Who Dat shrimp, and the crab cake. The tomatoes on the bruschetta were a bit bitter but the rest were awesome, especially the crab cake. Lobster bisque and French onion soup were awesome. The lamb chops are absolutely the best I have ever had. The flaming mojito glaze that tops the lamb chops makes for quite a presentation and is delicious. Desserts, peanut butter pie and crepe brûlée were delicious. We were allowed to have an unhurried meal of superb food accompanied by the best service.

I have gone to Mr. John's Steak House, and Desi's. I'd prefer Desi Vega's, due to the ambiance, and their staff is much more attentive then at Mr. John's. We went to Mr. John's on August 1, 2020, and was completely rushed with our meal, out in exactly 50 minutes with drinks, appetizers, and main course included. Nots sure why we were so rushed, since there was ample tables available. Never again! Desi's all the way!

I enjoyed the bone-in filet mignon cooked perfectly medium-rare. Unfortunately for the price to quantity to quality it missed the mark. The bone in filet was similar in size to the petit filet, but with a bone attached. The quality of beef was comparable to Ruth Chris, but I more enjoy (and willing to pay extra) for aged prime beef that can be found at other restaurants. The mixed drinks were prepared with very light pours (as a former bartender I know because I watched), I had the New Orleans Mule and could barely taste the alcohol. My mother had a mint julep and said it was short on alcohol as well. Come on your restaurant is in NOLA, we enjoy the flavor of alcohol we order and for the price you charge for the alcohol you put in the drink I'm sure you could have filled the shot to the top. Not a bad experience, but an honest review of our experience.
