Reviews of Daisy Mae's Southern Fried Chicken & Breakfast

Fresh fried chicken that’s prepared when you order it. On the menu it says the wait time is 20 minutes as it’s made to order. It’s definitely worst the wait. The seasoning used is really good, just a little on the salty side. The potato salad is one of the best I’ve ever had. The biscuit that comes with it is a better version of Popeyes. When dining in I topped my chicken with the syrup which drastically changed the flavour. It cut the saltiness of the chicken and gave it the perfect sweetness that I love with my chicken and waffles.
The alligator was good but salty. The red bean gumbo was delicious.
The world famous Bloody Mary is the closest thing that I had to a Caesar. (Us Canadian folk love Caesar’s). It was very filling and could be a meal on its own.
I loved this place. The server was such a nice guy and chatted with us for a while. Highly recommend coming here.

It's nothing fancy, just solid, quality food at a good price. The menu has some variety, but it's more about brunch staples than anything else. You really can't go wrong here. I'm not a bloody Mary person, but they have bottomless ones with the purchase of an entree.
I went with the Cajun omelet, which was great. I asked to substitute one ingredient for another, which Ruby (my server) did without charging me for the extra ingredient, which I really appreciated. She was friendly and on top of getting me refills.
Definitely a great place to go for a quick meal, be it in a group or by yourself.

This was definitely not the best chicken and waffles that I’ve had. The chicken was minimally seasoned. The waffles was good. The syrup was thin and you had to use a lot to even taste it.
I would not recommend this dish but perhaps other dishes are better. Staff was friendly.

Heard about daisy dukes and tried them out, heard about Daisy Mae's and was crazy full when leaving. The food was good the service was good but I just hated I was leaving that same morning because I would have had a great lunch for leftover chicken and waffles. Very impressed with the food menu and don't think you can go wrong with anything you choose.

We picked this place for breakfast based on the reviews and our hotel being close. This is a popular breakfast spot. It was crowed but not overwhelming when we visited and ordered our takeout. They specialize in breakfast items and fried chicken. They serve breakfast, lunch, during the week 7am to 3pm and dinner on Saturday and Sunday as they close at 10pm. We picked the Chicken and Waffles with grits. The Chicken was spicy and crispy, - the waffle was light and fluffy. Both very filling. The grits very bland and runny- definitely had better. Overall okay. The prices were reasonable and competitive for NOLA.

Pretty decent breakfast. Ample portions. It wasn't busy, which was nice on a Saturday morning. A tad pricey but not too bad. Friendly service. Mae's waffle breakfast sandwich was really good.Definitely worth trying if you like traditional southern breakfast with a few cajun flare twists.

Delicious breakfast with reasonable prices! The veggie omelet was delicious! The fried chicken with waffles were good too👍🏻 Really recommend this place! The waitress was really nice as well!

When searching for breakfast in New Orleans as well as driving around the city, I saw several Daisy Mae’s and that they all had great reviews. It was then just a matter of when to visit- and there happened to be one literally around the corner from my hotel- how about that!
Walking in, you just feel that you are in the heart of New Orleans. Even if you didn’t know what city you were in, I think the decoration and setup of Daisy Mae’s would be a dead giveaway. Paintings of jazz line the walls, and Saints decor hangs around the rest.
But all this to say, the food ultimately really let me down. I wouldn’t say I’m picky or have superficial taste, but there was just nothing exceedingly special about anything we tried. The omelet was okay, but it’s something I could’ve made at home, and maybe even better. The pancake was good, but it’s pretty hard to mess a pancake up- and it still wasn’t memorable.
One thing that was pretty decent were the pork chops, randomly enough. Other than that, I’m more than happy to forget trying this place. Especially in a city like New Orleans, there are a million and one places to eat, which means at least half that have to be better than this place, if Daisy Mae’s is middle of the road good like I believe. So I probably wouldn’t come back.
If you do still want to give this place a try, get here early or get ready to wait. We came around 7, 7:30am right when it opened and it was a ghost town. But by the time we were leaving almost every table was already filled with more coming. It gets busy!

My wife had an appt. In NOLA, so I went and had breakfast and a bloody. Goodness gracious, the portions are insane. I could barely eat half. Great service, great prices and fantastic food. I accidentally found a gem, and I will go back anytime we hit NOLA UP!

Vibe- This is a perfect spot for breakfast or lunch. There’s a lot of tables but it seems that they stay pretty busy so be prepared for a possible wait.
Customer service- Amazing! Wendy was very attentive and helpful.
Food/drinks- I got a waffle, grits, and hash brown. It was all good (nothing super amazing, but good) and satisfying. I would love to see vegan friendly options on their menu :)
Parking- There’s street parking. If you can, walking is probably easier.
