Super busy place, but not touristy. Seems to be word of mouth recommendations.
Food is great, definitely worth a bit of a wait. Small space, so better to wait outside or do take out. But will definitely come back. The hash brown breakfast was super well seasoned and loved it. Mimosa was pretty good too.
Super friendly staff, definitely adding this place to my favorites.

Good place for southern American breakfast. I had breakfast there 2 days in the row during our stay in NOLA. The food was good but a bit pricey. Good service.

Great spot for a tasty traditional American breakfast. The grits and buttery and tasty and the omelette was great. Also highly recommend their cold brew. It’s solid.

Excellent Breakfast, friendly owner and staff.
The Commerce biscuit and side of loaded hash browns was unique and very good, the bloody Mary was best I've had. Definitely recommend this small locally owned famous establishment!

It was not as hyped as it was. Honestly, Houston's coffee game is so strong that I can't find a latte that tastes better than coffee shops in Houston. So I didn't have high expectations anyways.
The food was okay. I had grits and hashed potatoes. My husband had all American. He said the biscuit and bacon were cold. Everything was meh. I liked the potatoes. I thought it was seasoned well.
With all of these delicious competitions in this area, I don't think I'll come back.

This was recommended by one of the locals. Staff was very pleasant and friendly as they gave us some suggestions regarding things to do while we were there. Food was good as well. About $20 per person. Located in the downtown area. Pay to park on the street which seems to be the norm. Overall good experience.

Great breakfast, good prices not inflated like many other restaurants near the French Quarter.
Loaded potatoes were yummy, The monster was a lot of food but good if you want to try a few things.
Staff was friendly and we were in and out within 30 min and feel like we had a good downtown southern breakfast. Love it, will be back.

Absolutely gem of a diner. We stayed across the street so it was a convenient breakfast place on our first morning. I tried the half CBB which was excellent. I couldn't help but notice the daily specials included wonton soup and egg rolls (?!) In a Louisiana diner? Went to 2 other places for subsequent breakfasts on our trip and neither of them matched Commerce so we went back there on the 4th day. Had the spicy honey fried chicken and biscuit which was also excellent though maybe just a tad on the sweet side. Perfectly spiced, perfectly fried, and the biscuits are great. As is the wheat bread! I overheard someone speaking Mandarin near the bar so out of curiosity went up to ask around and lo and behold the lady in the staff uniform at the counter was Chinese. Had a nice conversation with her, turns out she's the boss's wife! Long story short, we went back the next day (last day of our trip) so that she could let me try her wonton soup even though it wasn't going to be in the menu that day! Awesome service from all the staff and great food and a pretty decent price point in the business district! Absolutely a must try!

Family owned and operated. This has been a staple in the business district since 1965. Can't say enough for their hospitality as well as their amazing food. You may have to wait to get a seat, but it's well worth the wait and the service is quick. Would highly recommend that everyone try Commerce Restaurant.

Absolutely wonderful. Smooth creamy oat milk latte and delicious food. This is a gem of a restaurant. Full flavor - jalapenos and onions under the egg on top of the hash browns -hat off to the chef that knows how to please. Will visit this restaurant again!
