Reviews of Carmo

Absolutely recommended! The food was amazing with great cocktails. They have a raw menu, salads and a fantastic selection of signature starters. The ingredients are fresh and seasonal. The place is spacious and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate our group of twenty people. They are also dog friendly. If you are in town don’t miss it!

I liked Carmo so much I had it twice during my trip to NOLA. Once to dine in on a delicious Carmo Salad which hit the spot after eating some meatier meals. I appreciated the combo of pineapple, ham, rice and cashews. Rice was a little harder than I liked and might be better as a warm addition or as crispy rice. Still I enjoyed it very much overall. On another occasion I got takeout which was delicious but very slow! I found I couldn’t order on any of the apps so I tried calling but they didn’t answer their phone. Once I arrived to place my order in person it was a 15-20 minute wait for the food. I have no regrets though as it was worth the wait. Plenty of dairy-free, gluten-free options! I was even able to sub in vegan cheese on my dish and it was delicious.

A great plant based experience, within a few minutes walk of my hotel. I didn't have a reservation so was seated at the bar. Consequently, service was a mixed bag - at times very attentive and other times overwhelmed with filling drink orders.
The food was great though! I started with the Esmerelda salad without the cheese. It was great but the sweet potato fritters stile the show! Absolutely delicious!! I also had the red beans and rice side dish. It was a generous portion and tasty. But the fried plantains disappointed as they were cold and not overly flavorful.
Overall a great experience and I'd go back.

We had the gulf tuna salad and the Pan Con Chicharron sandwich that was very tasty! You can do this with crispy fried pork or vegan tofu... I can't say for the tofu but the pork was excellent. This restaurant has a wide variety of gluten-free as well as vegan offerings.
The vegan almond chocolate torte close the desert of the day and was very good and talked with raspberries and raspberry drizzle.
The restaurant had a stylish interior and surrounded with what looks to be local art. Good place to stop for a relaxing lunch off the beaten path.

Carmo was incredible!!! The ambience was fun, the prices were reasonable, but the FOOD! Oh my goodness, words can’t express how delicious this food is. Authentic South American cuisine is hard to come by and this absolutely hit the mark. I didn’t try their infamous raw bar but the sweet potato quinoa fritters and the “Rico” plate were to die for. We also had INCREDIBLE service from Cherry. If I ever come back to NOLA this is a place I’d absolutely return to!!!!!

Food was alright, atmosphere great
Despite being labeled as a seafood restaurant, this place also has great options for vegan/vegetarian eaters. I had the Vegan Rico and it was okay. The plantains were too dry and there was just a mountain of impossible meat on top with too little sauce (I just think the concept of the dish doesn't work but would come here again to try other dishes). The cocktails were awesome, and the service was great.

Absolutely love Carmo. This was my first time trying their breakfast. They recommended the breakfast tacos. Oh man, the flavors were incredible. Everything was fresh. The tortilla is hand-made, and all the flavors just sing. I wholeheartedly recommend Carmo for any meal!

Best vegan and gluten free food with additional meat options as well. Flavor is amazing, tables for large parties, and a very calming space with a full bar. Something for everyone!

We went here with our non vegan friends as a place that has fish and vegan options for the 9 pm Thursday reservation.
The dishes we ended up getting were mostly very good, it's noteworthy how most of their dishes had vegan conversion options especially when you want to take people with different dietary needs.
Our waitress was disoriented the entire time which seemed extremely unprofessional, she wasn't aware until we were ready to order the entrees that most of the fish were not available, and at 10.20 told us the restaurant is locking up when it says 11 pm on Google maps for Thursday closing hours?
Why take an online reservation for 4 people at 9 if you will stop taking bottle orders at 10.15?
While we were leaving at 10.25 pm, the other side of the restaurant had a long table full of people still seated, confusing.
The service and closing experience though is what lost the place its stars and makes it definitely not worth the price paid. Train your customer facing staff members better.

My wife & I love fresh WHOLE foods. The salads were delicious & satiating. We would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a healthy option. The ceviche was delicious, too. Very quick service.
