I found this place on my last day in New Orleans. I was looking to take blue crabs back to Atlanta. I purchased a dozen of the jumbo males. The staff found a styrofoam cooler and gave me ice packs for the trip. The packaged everything up for me, then took it to my car! Customer service was exceptional! The crabs were amazing! Will definitely recommend to others and keep on my list of places to return.

New to the area and to crawfish. The staff at Captain Sid's set us up iwth 6# of fresh boiled crawfish that were delicious. If you want to boil your own, they also sell their special mix. Great staff.

Tourists pay attention, this is important info. If you are coming to Nola and plan to eat crawfish, here is some advice from a crawfish pro. First off, there’s nothing like a home boil done right. If you have friends here that know what they are doing, you’ve hit the jackpot, Godspeed. If not, have no fear. There will be some chirps from the cheap seats but The Bucktown area of New Orleans, name ably Captain Sid’s, is the go to spot for boiled crawfish in the city for locals. Captain Sid’s competitor a block down is 1b to Captain Sid’s 1a. I won’t mention them bc this is a Captain Sid’s review. Only bad thing is that these are both seafood markets with no dining area. However, if you have an AirBnb, do what the locals do, bring it back, dump it on the table outside and make it a party. Eating crawfish in restaurants usually will cost you a boatload, possibility double or triple the market price. Best months of the crawfish season are March, April and May but you may find some decent mud bugs a month before and/or after peak season. I’d stay away from eating crawdads from July-December, chances are they could be from China, which is blasphemy!

We have been purchasing the seafood boiling seasoning for years from Captain Sid's, always spot on. We have family in Texas and Florida that stock up on it when they visit. Well today was the first time we boiled crabs with their new blend. It must be new because everything was much spicier then we ever had, and it is 5 hours later and my hands are on fire. I have never experienced this in all the years we have used Captain Sid's seasoning to boil our seafood.

Awesome seafood + MANY varieties of all kinds of food. I just had their tamales + my mom + I REALLY enjoyed them! They aren't 2 spicy, but just right. Must try shrimp dip. My friend + her husband are in love with it. Also very friendly owners + workers! That goes a LOOOONG way with me + my friend! They are even open on Sunday's.

Wonderful experience, highly recommend! This was the first time we drove to New Orleans instead of flying, which gave us an opportunity to explore more and grab some tasty food to take back. So happy to have found Captain Sid's. The shrimp was fresh, just in the night before, the price was great, and they helped us put it in the cooler and gave us ice! They recommended their bbq shrimp spice mix...AMAZING! Dinner tonight was so good!

Overall good experience. The staff was very polite and friendly. The shrimp and crab were delicious. Although, the shrimp did not peel as well as expected, and the preparation wait time was a little on the long side.

You guys have to try this seasoning! It is AMAZING! We always used Louisiana’s then switched to Cajun Land for the flavor but today we tried this bad boy out and WOW! 👀 I’m blown away! The flavor/heat ratio is on point! No need to add salt or anything!! If you haven’t used this seasoning you’re missing out! We won’t be using anything other than Capt. Sid’s!

We live in Los Angeles but grew up in Biloxi. I have these music and food jams in our home (we have a large recording studio here) and have been getting frozen bugs from Walmart. Not horrible but not the real deal. After the Covid Zombie Apocalypse began to wain I decided it time to get some full octane crawfish flown in for the shindig. I could not have been treated better or had a more relaxed and fun experience dealing with Sid’s and the awesome sweet staff. We’re having another music and food jam next Sunday and I will be heading to southwest cargo to pick up my Captain Sid’s shipment. Who Dat in LA

Captain Sid's has always been reliable in their food preparation and boiling. This batch of boiled shrimp were "sandy"...they just had a gritty texture. The seasoning was not up to par. The potatoes were overcooked to the max and were like mashed potatoes with the peeling still on. I have lived in the area for many years, this was a first!

These guys are the best!! Their crawfish are alway seasoned perfectly. The home made potato salad is the bomb, and don’t get me started on their boiled shrimp! Also, if you’re doing your own boil, their pre packaged seasoning is spot on perfect!!

This was my first time eating here. I found the boiled seafood a little bland especially for being in such a competitive area. It could have been just a bad batch so I will give them a second shot because the quality of fish was good it was cooked perfectly just the spice mix or soak was a bit weak.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Ray at Capitan Sids went above and beyond to help recover from a blunder. We had an Easter Crawfish Boil planned but the company that we reserved crawfish with "ran out". RAY helped us on short notice to have adequate seafood for all of our guests. The quality wS primo.

The only places I liked in this “Restaurant Row” area were this place and Station 6. Captain Sid’s isn’t a restaurant but it sells prepackaged food (potato salads, etc.) and fresh seafood. Station 6 is an upscale yet casual-themed restaurant. Everything else around here looked average. (February 2019)

My aunt and uncle are the original owners, so I grew up running in and out and visiting all the staff. Last weekend was my first time going back in there since Captain Sid's has new management. Though there was a part of my heart that ached for the familiar faces, and the old layout - I was greeted upon entry (despite how busy they were), and treated kindly by the new faces. The staff is attentive, quick, calm, efficient, and polite. The new look of the store is a refreshing change, and they offer interesting new food options of prepackaged food, and their pre-made boil mixture if you prefer to buy live crawfish, instead of hot boiled crawfish. I can confirm the seafood (and the potato salad) is still just as delicious! You can call ahead to pay for and secure your order. They take cash and card, BUT, if you pay cash, you get a nice little discount, so keep that in mind for you next visit. Looking forward to my next visit for sure. :)

I was never the ones that like reviews, but I really have to give some pros to their hot broiled crawfish. Most of the crawfish I had in new Orleans are either a bit too spicy, too salty or too pricy(like Deanie's). You wont be disappointed. My husband and I got some gloves from the family dollar store and ate 3lb of crawfish in the car. It was a nice experience. Though, I gave them a four star cause I was disappointed with their shrimp.

When myself and 7 others went in search of mounds of hot boiled crawfish, we followed Google reviews to Captain Sid's. What a surprise to discover this was a market and no seating existed. .... but Mr. Ray S. came to our rescue when he phoned a restaurant a block away... soon after that call, our group was comfortably seated in the Smoke House Grill (not just bbq) and moments later Ray delivered 30 pounds of the finest crawfish to cross my lips. It is my understanding that we were the inaugural table to enjoy the newest collaboration between these 2 fine vendors to supply the NO area with as fine a combo meal as you can get. I was so thrilled with the entire evening that before flying home, we stopped at Sid's again to fill our cooler with another 25# of those scrumptious red morsels. Thank you Ray, due to your quick thinking and southern hospitality we enjoyed the best meal of our entire week, beating out some big name places in the French Quarter. You have a customer for life and I hope your new venture takes off like our plane!!!
