Reviews of Cafe Sbisa
So. First of all let me say just how classy yet fun this place is. The vibe the vibe the VIBE! On a beautiful Sunday afternoon it don't get no better loves! We ate light and enjoyed the oysters Sbisa! My husband had an endless mimosa and that's not a joke. The live music was excellent as the drummer/singer flirted as he performed- I loved the charm! The general manager and Chef/owner made our experience special but it is the wait staff that put the cherry on top making sure even my coffee was hot and fresh. We will be back!
This is a must try place if you're visiting New Orleans. I do recommend having a reservation before arriving as it was pretty busy. The drinks were strong and the food was amazing. I ordered the fried oysters and the pasta jambalaya and had no regrets.
A lovely sit down restaurant, with a bustling atmosphere enhanced by jazz band. Service was brilliant, and the food was good. It focuses on local food, and does it well. I opted for the steak as I wanted a change, and it was fantastic. I would go again.
A fantastic brunch spot with delicious food, brilliant live jazz, and outstanding service. Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks, from the dangerous bottomless mimosas and the Madame L'Orange, to the catfish, the crab cakes, and the apple bread pudding ice cream. Service was professional, friendly, and on-point. Note that with the live band, it can get pretty loud so some shouting may be required to hold a conversation across the table. Might as well take the time to enjoy the music and the food before you go off on your next New Orleans adventure.
Friendly, professional service. Cozy atmosphere, 2 storeys. Live music. Off the craziness of Bourbon Street.
I was craving gumbo and jambalaya. The gumbo was exactly what I was hoping for. The jambalaya was pasta instead of rice but the flavours are what I remember. Again, just what I was hoping for. Very recommended.
From the moment we stepped inside it was just pure magic. There really is no other way to describe the experience. The staff was amazing! Efficient, polite, kind, patient, really the list could
go on. As the evening progressed and you didn’t think it could get any better from our cocktails to salad to entrees to desert they continued the progression of magic and satisfaction. On our way down the stairs the manager stopped to check in with us. Which says a lot. From the manager greeting us and getting us a table that met our needs to entrusting us to his incredible team to closing with a thank you and check in of our satisfaction. They are the complete magical culinary experience. Thank you for sharing your magic with my daughter and myself tonight it is a memory we will carry forever!
Great place with fun twists on classic NOLA dishes! Lots of space. Friendly staff. I've added this spot to my list of restaurants to recommend to visitors!
Beautiful place, very friendly people there. They have an inside balcony is on 3 sides. The place is perfect for dates, family, or a group of friends dining. We had their Turtle Soup ( so good, the meat was tender) and fried crawfish beignets, both excellent. I've ordered take out but I will go back to dining in. I recommend placing a reservation before going, the place looks packed and well-known too.
I’ve been wanting to go here for a while and finally did tonight and it was absolutely fabulous. Wonderful service, amazing atmosphere and the food is phenomenal!!!! We had the crab cakes, gumbo, turtle soup, and bbq shrimp. It was all absolutely amazing but I could eat that bbq shrimp all day every day!! Rich and beautiful flavors cooked to perfection. I’ll definitely be back!
Great food and attentive service. First time had BBQ shrimp and that was delicious, fresh and flavorful. I also ordered the shrimp and grits, crawfish beignets and seafood gumbo. Some dishes were in the salty side. Overall nice experience.
The oysters over fried green tomatoes went so quickly no one got a picture! And the pictures we did get does not do the food justice. Excellent service, delightful atmosphere, great eats.
Delicious drinks and food. I recommend the shrimp and grits. Only thing is the shrimp had the tails on so I was conflicted with treating them like finger food vs eating my grits with a spoon lol.
Definitely recommend for a fancy dinner.
We had a group is ten (10) people and got seated after our vaccination cards were checked; the atmosphere and service were first-rate, and the food was exquisite; personally I ordered the pork loin special (see photos) along with two other colleagues which was prepared as tender and flavorful as the picture looks; the sauce allowed the sweet potato mash to spring a sweet flavor ahead of a spicy trailer; it was prepared so well that it did not sit heavy and allowed me to buy beignets on the walk to our hotel; you will miss out on a luxury of New Orleans if you do not make Cafe Sbisa a dinner stop while in town.
Yum to the Yum to the Yum Yum Yum is all that I can say about this place. From the moment you walk in, you feel right at home. The host was very gracious, kind and sweet. My husband and I were seated upstairs in an area overlooking the bar. I was actually looking forward to sitting outside on the balcony but our host explained since it rains a lot in August, it was closed until September, she said it is absolutely beautiful at night with the lights surrounding the balcony. The place is beautiful and the food was outstanding. We had an opportunity to speak with the host who is actually a part owner, gave us history on the establishment of the restaurant. Okay...so let's get down to it...the food, I had the Trout Eugene which was covered in a rich creamy sauce with crab claws and crawfish. It was served with mashed potatoes, which was my choice, and asparagus which was well cooked, not soggy at all. I absolutely loved my dish and ate every...last..drop. My husband ordered the Petite Filet, he said the meat was well cooked tender and he thoroughly enjoyed his meal as well. We were so full after that delicious meal that we didn't order dessert unfortunately. One thing I will say that I love about this restaurant, is the portions. You definitely won't be disappointed and oftentimes when you go to restaurants that are nice as this, the portions are lackluster. But not here! I would say that I was not disappointed, I loved the environment, the ambiance of the restaurant, the nice soothing live jazz music...it was the perfect date night for our weekend in New Orleans celebrating our wedding anniversary. I couldn't have picked a better place to dine to spend the evening with my hottie. Enjoy!
Great ambience. We were a large group seated upstairs. Wait staff was very good and helpful with questions about the menu. I had a cup of gumbo and then I had the shrimp and grits. Both were amazing. Very large portion for shrimp and grits, great flavor. Cuisine was delicious!
Excellent. Server was on point, provided clarity of cuisine on all recommendations. All food was appropriately SEASONED, Trout Eugene is amazing. Wife & I enjoyed cocktails as well. So good I forgot to take pictures before. Highly recommended. On top of everythimg else, its a nicely run Black owned business! Couldn't have asked for more.
Had a large group last minute and the hostess was able to get us a table ready within minutes. The Cafe has such a nice New Orleans vibe and the live music during our brunch was amazing. The waiters were on point, and really ensured our bottomless mimosas never reached the bottom. On top of that, the food was delicious and the ambiance was great. Highly recommend.
Originally built as a ship’s chandler in 1820 with the Proprietor’s residence in the upper floors, according to a 2008 article by Brenda Maitland. It opened as Cafe Sbisa in 1899 and continued to operate until Katrina; although under several different owners. After Katrina, the pandemic caused another shutdown.
I walked into Cafe Sbisa for the first time on a hot Sunday afternoon this past June. I was immediately intrigued by the beautiful interior of polished wood. The host greeted me and led me to the bar where I had chosen to sit. I had an Angel of Passion cocktail and an order of Crawfish Beignets. As I enjoyed the great jazz combo, I wondered why I had never stepped inside Sbisa before; although I’d passed under the sign walking down Decatur Street many times. Good drink, great bartender, beautiful place.
Cut to last month (September 2021) and I once again visited Sbisa, this time with a friend who had enjoyed brunch with her granddaughter on a previous visit. I had the Angel of Passion, champagne, passion fruit purée and St. Germain, once again. Just a quick trip, but I’m looking forward to enjoying dinner at Cafe Sbisa. The Court Bouillon looks amazing!
Adore this place. Live music. Amazing food. Fantastic service. Great prices. Tasty cocktails. Highly recommend.
Amazing service, they work well as a team. Great food. Chef is a native. ⚜ Family Friendly 🏳️🌈 I highly recommend making reservations. This is NOLA's best kept secret in the French Quarters ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ …
Very attentive service from the whole staff and a historically knowledgeable server, which was fun! Food was good, not great, but the atmosphere and service makes up for it.
Service was amazing. Waiter was so helpful with recommendations. My son said his burger was one of the best he's eve had. Crab cakes were also tasty.
Ambiance is nice, I would've gave 5 stars but it was too overpriced for the portions and I felt rushed to eat on my birthday. However the weekend jazz band is lovely. Crab cakes are super small for $20 and seafood gumbo was way too spicey and a small portion.
Was just there for Labor Day weekend— went to jazz brunch Sunday— and my friends and I agreed that we are adding this to our ‘rotation’ of favorites.
Waitstaff was lovely and accommodating, the bartender made me a very nice drink with Cathead flavored vodka when I asked for something ‘charming’ (hah.). The food was delicious— I had the crawfish beignets and omelette and enjoyed both, and the resto itself is a really nice space. The music was a lovely accompaniment to the meal— if you like jazz then you’re in the right spot. My friends got an order of grilled (?) oysters and the pain perdu (which is HUGE) and were also pleased.
A nice way to start off a lazy Sunday of music and strolling through the city, and if it’s your first time in NOLA would suggest starting your trip here.
Excellent customer service The full dishes served here..
The food is exactly average. It is a bit over priced for the quality. I had the restaurant’s sparkling substitute for Prosecco; they were out. It was not good and I didn’t drink it. The bathroom door in the women’s bathroom is partially blocked by the toilet seat. My tween had to step on the toilet seat to fully get into the stall. PROS: The ambiance is nice. The manager is very accommodating; great customer service. NUTSHELL: This is not a place to go for a fancy dinner. It was okay for a regular sit-down meal. My pasta portion was huge.
The food was amazing!!! Being a local, I didn't see fit to eat in a tourist area. I was truly surprised....... The scenery, service, and Margarita was absolutely the best. This is truly a 💎 …
Just ok! It's very authentic creole cuisine but the menu is very limited and prices are high albeit the portion size larger than other high end resturants in the area. I probably will not return because there are better options in and around the city.
Great atmosphere. Jumbalya was outstanding! Crawfish beniets are basically expensive hush puppies but man are they delicious! Bread pudding wasn't great. Had so much nutmeg it tasted like pumpkin pie. Trout was good. Burgers were a bit dry and not cooked to request. Tomato Salad or take on caprese salad was good but they give you three tomato slices and only two of them have mozzarella cheese under them. Both plates had same issue... Must be a shortage..
I did takeout for the turtle soup and the soup was... so confusing. I for a second thought I was given the wrong soup. The color was yellow, and it tasted like lemon broth with vegetables. I ended up throwing it away.
But the staff was SOOOO nice and kind and very quick to give me my order, so I honestly feel bad giving them 3 stars, but man... the soup sucked.
Best turtle soup in the city. Great gumbo. Great service. Old New Orleans charm. Amazing mural by George Dureau. Chef Singleton is the real deal.
Went to NOLA with the homies for my bachelor's party. We wanted one night that was a proper sit down restaurant to enjoy a great meal, drink some wine, and just boss up. Did some research before heading down to NOLA and with the great reviews and hearing there was a live band, decided to book a reservation at Sbisa. As soon as you step in, you feel the atmosphere here. The staff were very attentive, professional, and on point. Absolutely no hiccups with their service. The food.... It was excellent! Ordered the catch of the day and added the BBQ shrimp to the place. The shrimp was probably the most flavourful shrimp I have ever had in my life, no joke! The fish was cooked very well too but the shrimp was certainly a game changer. We enjoyed each other's company, paired with great wine, live music, and food. The dinner really set us up right for a night out in the Big Easy. Thank you, Cafe Sbisa staff!
We dined at Sbisa on our last night in NOLA. We wanted an authentic NOLA dining experience without all the hubbub and pomp. We considered the mainstay restaurants like Brenans or Arnaud's but settled in Sbisa. Located near the French Market it is far from the bustle of Bourbon St. It does not look like much from the outside but was elegant and comfy inside. Service was wonderful from the moment we entered. Only glitch was our server did not bring bread which the Maitre d' caught and corrected. The food was excellent. We enjoyed each dish for our 3 course meal. Price was reasonable for the quality and taste of the food although not cheap. We were also entertained by three wonderful musicians who played a mix of RnB and classic Jazz. We met them outside and they were total gentlemen. Overall Sbisa is a great dining option if you don't mind getting off Bourbon St.
The whole place was fantastic! Best catfish I've ever had. Will definitely return when I'm visiting New Orleans again
Started with the gumbo which was just OK, however the veal and crab entree was outstanding. The service was very good, but the restaurant felt kind of dirty. This two story restaurant is very open and you can grab a quick drink at the bar or sit down for a formal dinner. Oh yeah, the location is great too.
Good Food In The Historic French Quarter
My son-in-law and daughter invited me to eat here for the first time. The place is one of the oldest restaurants around with the expected décor common to the French Quarter. The night we went they had a 2 member band playing jazz music. I ordered the turtle soup, wedge salad, and the lamb chops. The service was excellent and the food was good. This is a place that one would like to try traveling to New Orleans or even a good choice for the locals.
Food was amazing and the service even better. Definitely going to come back here on my next trip to NOLA!
Great ambiance. Slightly upscale than other restaurants in the area but the patrons were still dressed casual. The entire staff was overly attentive. At least 4 people checked on our small party of 2 constantly. The food was well plated and very well seasoned. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Our jazz brunch experience was perfect. Delicious food, outstanding service, and a historic establishment.
Great ambiance, staff, cocktails, food and dessert. We met the Chef/Owner very nice man. We'll be back.
What a pleasure. It's become our "go to" Jazz Brunch for every trip to New Orleans. Established in 1899 - so lots of character. Jazz band was wonderful! Service is so 1st class. With a party of 7, when our food came they gathered enough servers to deliver all our plates at exactly the same time. Bottomless Mimosas were immediately refilled if they were 1/2 empty. Today's special Country gumbo was overloaded with seafood... Turtle soup was also very good. 2 different Omelettes ordered, both wonderful, as was the shrimp and grits and eggs Benedict. Too full for desert, so instead had a yummy chocolate martini made with pecan vodka! Birthday boy got a complementary bread pudding with ice cream topped with run caramel and chocolate It's our favorite and happy to share with our friends!
Shrimp and grits was delicious! We were early & got seated, but I imagine reservations are a good idea.
We enjoyed the experience at Cafe Sbisa! We enjoyed the ambience. There was a 2 duet playing beautiful jazz as we enjoyed our meal. The food was very good, the barbecue shrimp, the crab cakes, the herb chicken, crawfish beignets, were our selections. The only drawbacs for us were the wait, and accessibility of the restrooms. We were with our elderly parents and that was too much for them. There are stairs to climb to get to them. All in all, we would return.
The staff was very friendly, attentive, and even made my birthday extremely special. I came to New Orleans from the first time with friends, called and made a reservation and they made us all feel welcome. The jazz band was the perfect addition to the amazing ambience. The pork ribeye was a tender pork chop with an amazing barbecue honey glaze sauce. The red velvet cake was my birthday dessert, delicious! Great place.
Brunch server was amazing (best server of the trip) good gumbo, great omelettes (very large-enough to serve 2 people each), & live music. Needs a bit of cleaning in the back of house.
Loved the trout and the courtbouillon (pictured). Highly recommend!!!
Besides excellent food the staff is outstanding. They are primarily women and everyone wants to make your visit the best it can be. The chef walks around also to make sure you're happy with what you ordered. Drinks were grest and both drinks and food were reasonable. Excellent food, great staff, good location, and reasonably priced works for us.
Amazing gumbo. Amazing food. Seriously the best food I have ever had in this city. Staff was so very friendly and seemed to love their jobs there. Prices were very reasonable for the amazing quality of the meal. This will be my new go to place to eat in New Orleans.
It doesn't get any better. Great food incredible service...... Patty and her manager were FANTASTIC! Everytime I come to N.O. I'm coming here!
This place was very accommodating, as they sat or party of two without a reservation.
The food was absolutely amazing. We ordered crab cakes, turtle soup, shrimp n grits, and a dish with muscles. Everything was perfectly cooked, and looked wonderful.
The establishment was quite large and seems like it has the capacity to accommodate large parties.
The esthetic of this place was really intriguing, and the mirrors had a certain fairytale like charm. There is a large painting over the main bar that becomes more and more interesting as you continue to gaze.
Easily one of the best meals I've ever had. Everything was fantastic. It's right in the smackdab of prime real estate for viewing pleasure of parades like St. Patty's. Other patrons would leave their table, go outside for some beads, and then come in and continue their meal. What fun!
The food is fantastic. The bread pudding is a must have. Make sure to get reservations.
Also, it's Black co-owned, so I had to support.
Food was good, just a bit slow. Very friendly staff. Well worth trying as a date night spot.
Wonderful service & great food on a busy night.
The absolute best people in the world! Love this place and I will visit every time I come to New orleans! Hospitality was awesome! ❤️❤️❤️
Excellent environment. The chief/owner and family was amazing. This place is truly a gem. Stay blessed 🙌🏾.
Great atmosphere and the sazerac was above average. I had the gulf fish toujours and was pleased. The portions to price could use some work to get a 5th star. The live music was bonus.
The atmosphere, the staff, the service,& most definitely the food; ALL of which was ABSOLUTELY superb!! 💯 I would definitely recommend 👌🏾
Wonderful food , great service and live music through out lunch. So glad we stumbled upon this great restaurant!
Cafe Sbisa was amazing! My friends and I went for a birthday dinner and we were so glad we chose this spot. The food was great and the service was wonderful. The team was extremely attentive and personable. The food was delicious and plentiful. I loved the catfish almondine and the dessert. I will definitely come back the next time I'm in New Orleans!
Made reservations and still waited 40 minutes despite others without a reservation being seated immediately. Some guests of the restaurant were very loud and none of the wait staff seemed to see a problem with it. Food was tasty.
Great service! Excellent food! Very good live music!
I usually don't leave reviews but I'm absolutely blown away!!. . . In my experience it's pretty rare to find a place with amazing food and even greater service but this place left me with one of the greatest dining experiences I've ever had. . . Dedrionne(Dee) made us feel like family and her suggestions for what to eat and drink made this not only a meal but an experience. . . . We will definitely going back thanks to Dee and her amazing service!!
Delicious crab cakes and the entrees, excellent service. Loved this place so much - would definitely come back
The crab and shrimp over a fried green tomato appetizer was very good. My husband got the lamb and it was delicious. I got the ribeye and it wasn't very good.
The best French Quarter experience: excellent flavor, sound, sight, and service!
CeCe is the best server ever! The food was absolutely delicious (especially the gumbo). Highly recommend the red velvet cheesecake as well. The chef came out to our table and we had a wonderful conversation. Try this place!
Great service. Great appetizers. A few of the mains were subpar. Went with a large group and the restaurant handled it well.
Stop googling for a dinner spots in New Orleans, Sbisa is great! A cute medium sized restaurant with a nicely maintained interior, a small bar, and two talented musicians that bring it all together to create a nice experience. Oh yeah about the food ;) The pork rib-eye was deliciously prepared. You cannot go wrong with Sbisa.
Kevin was our server and he was hands down, best server we have ever had, and he smelled wonderful!
Everything was absolutely delicious, staff was great! Very underrated restaurant
This palace has amazing food. My first time in New Orleans and had dinner for my girlfriend's birthday. We were more than satisfied.
Stumbled upon this great Restaurant looking for a nice ambience with a balcony, and cafe sbisa was amazing. Born and raised in New Orleans and I cannot believe I have never been here. The balcony was great, staff was great and the food was amazing. If your not a balcony fan, inside is just as pretty. I’ve been spreading this great place to all of my friends. Definitely will be back here for another “ date night”.
The service was excellent and I'm hard to please. As soon as we walked in 3 people greeted us, and showed us to our table 🙂. We ate the crab cakes and courtbouillon. Both were cooked and seasoned to perfection. …
Very nice. Third oldest restaurant in NOLA. I had a salad and crab cakes. I liked it and the service was great! Not a lot of meal choices though. I highly recommend.
I had the pleasure of celebrating a friend’s retirement dinner at Cafe Sbisa, the owner’s Alfred and Mildred made sure we had a very memorable event. I had the Shrimp Remoulade, Maison Salad and the Petite Filet, the presentation was remarkable, the meal was served hot and ambiance was impeccable. This place has a lot of history, we learned the building is the third oldest buildings in the area.
I cannot not forget to mention our waiter Kevin, we had a large party of successful women , celebrating a friend, he was able to provide menu recommendations and was attentive to all of our needs.
Amazing brunch. Food was great, customer service was excellent & the live music was an unexpected surprise.
While visiting the City for a relaxing birthday weekend I enjoyed a Sunday treat with my husband and some local friends. The shrimp and grits were seasoned quite well....the grits were creamy and full bodied. The unlimited mimosas and gumbo were an added pleasure. Needless to say, the staff & service were excellent. Great establishment.
Absolutely amazing service! All of the staff were polite, welcoming, and friendly. I highly recommend the seafood gumbo and creme brûlée. Make sure to make a reservation before you go. Definitely a hidden gem and we would love to come back for their jazz brunch. 5 stars all around.
Loved it. Great cocktails and excellent service.
The food was excellent. The staff was wonderful. Walked in without a reservation (not recommended) but they hooked my wife and me up. The waitress was great and food was authentic and awesome. Can't say enough food things about this place. Wish it was in Jersey would go all the time. Oh btw the apple bread pudding was off the charts.
"America has only three cities: New York, San Francisco and New Orleans. Everywhere else is Cleveland."
-- Tennessee Williams
I don't know who this cat is, but he's on to somethin'
I am from SF and I have spent time in NY, so the first two are on point. The 3rd, that's also factual information.
Dining in NO is unlike any other dining experience I have enjoyed. The flavors are so bold, and specific, and it's always about seasoning in layers and layers of flavor. Sure, if you watched Food Network 20 years ago, you'd think Emeril was always talking about spicy food in NO. That's false. It's about very well seasoned food, and that's the way they roll here.
I am a huge fan of seasonings, and making my own spice rubs. That inspiration came from watching Emeril and the way he talked about NO. I love it!
So, that takes us here.
Cafe Sbisa is an exceptional dining experience, and you should visit them and find out for yourself.
App:
Crawfish Beignets
Savory beignets are not my fave, but I can't turn em away either. These were exceptionally well seasoned, cooked and fried to perfection, with a delicious house-made creole mustard cream dipping sauce. The crawfish flavors are forward and the tails were evident. I love when you know that you got what you ordered and that you can visually see the crawfish tails.
Entrees:
**Daily Special**
My friend ordered the special double cut pork chop, cooked medium. It was a thing of beauty! Perfectly cooked chop, seasoned extremely well. Wonderful flavors present, with a sweet and savory sauce that could be eaten with any protein and enjoyed by all.
Shrimp N Grits
That was my order of course. I mean, how do you visit this town and not try a Southern classic like this? Grits were loaded with cheesyness, salty, creamy, and super duper. The shrimp is served in a saucy presentation and clearly the flavors are that of the holy trinity. I could feel the New Orleans in every single bite!
We decided to pass on dessert, because we wanted to try to space out the overeating sitch.
Wait staff did an exceptional job of being attentive, kind, and not being too much. We enjoyed the entire dining experience, and a suggestion to those who are reading this. Wear some decent clothes and act like an adult. Shorts, t shirts, flip flops, sandals, and the like are fine. But, when you dine at a legit restaurant, just try harder please.
Food and Service was excellent! We had a party of 15 and everything was excellent!!!
First time going there after living in New a Orleans for quite awhile. The room is great and we loved the food. Definitely going back soon. It’s the third oldest restaurant / bar in New Orleans and the old bar is beautiful. ❤️
Went early and had a reservation on a Friday night of a holiday weekend, and we were seated immediately. The staff were very attentive and it was a great experience. Dont bother with the salad, sad lettuce and not much else, but everything else was amazing. The stuffed beignets were one of the best things I had during our weekend in NOLA. My husband had the bouillabaisse and I kept eating off his plate it was so good. We had the apple bread pudding for dessert and it was amazing. Would definitely go back again if in NOLA.
A great restaurant w/a great location on Decatur St pretty much in the heart of the French Quarter. Great drink and wine menu, I'm not a drinker but I was able to get a mocktail Mojito. Food is great with great service. Will definitely be back and suggest you check it out too. Added bonus they have a Sunday brunch with a band..also $15 bottomless mimosas with that brunch
It was a good experience. The atmosphere was nice. We were seated upstairs on a Saturday and even though it was busy, it didn't feel crowded. The food was good, the drinks were excellent and our waiter Kevin paid attention to every detail even with a large bridal party.
Food was DELICIOUS and cocktails were GREAT!! Wonderful customer service!!!
Great food, service, and ambiance. Sunday brunch location.
Mmmlovely jazz, black owned, black chef and family run beautiful historic bldg..
Wonderful atmosphere, extremely professional staff, kind and attentive. The meal--Bussin. Crab cakes for the appetizer, trout with crab and shrimp sauce 🥰 Left swole! Had to walk it off 😅
Simply put, southern hospitality at its finest. Our server, Thomas, was incredible. Personable and knowledgeable about the wonderful menu. We had the gumbo and turtle soup and both were amazing! For entrees, we had the sirloin and stuffed red fish, and they did not disappoint! Our drinks were tasty and the dessert crepes were delicious. This made our Valentine's day celebration very special!
Excellent food. Good service. The music was really great too. They checked vaccination card and ID going in. I'm gluten-free and had an awesome chicken dish.
Some of the best crab cakes I have ever had!! staff professional, live music awesome... so glad I came across this great place!!
I don't have any pictures to share because we were too caught up in the scrumptious food! Started with Crawfish beignets- airy deliciousness, Shrimp remoulade- huge shrimp on fried green tomatoes. Then had the shrimp & grits- oh lordy, so much food! And the tender Roasted 1/2 chicken- Man! Great wine list and fabulous service and ambiance. RUN, don't walk to this grand dame
Came to Nola to celebrate my birthday and Café Sbisa was one of the restaurants I came to while here. Service was excellent and the shrimp and grits were AMAZING. I had the crab cakes as a starter, which I wasn't crazy about; hence the reason for 4 stars. Overall, everything was good and I will be coming back whenever I make another trip down here.
Listen, if you're researching for the best place for a nice dinner, this is THE ONE. Stop looking at other places. Book your reservation as soon as you know when you'll be in town. Everything was unbelievably amazing. I'll be dreaming about their food for... well, however long it'll take to travel back for another trip. In comparison to other fancy dinner places, this is very reasonably priced and so, so much better. Service was excellent- fast, polite, and knowledgable about their menu. Thank you Cafe Sbisa!!
The catfish was great. Very good band played jazz and R&B.
We enjoyed our mothers day brunch at Sbisa. The restaurant is in a historical building in the French quarter so expect the vintage feel however the service and the food were both excellent! Bottomless mimosas were clutch and refilled constantly (thank you!).
We enjoyed the oysters appetizer and crab Benedict very much! Also the live jazz, so great! Overall a solid spot in the historical French quarter!
The photo posted is NOT the inside of the cafe. The cafe is a typical old NOLA building, very "woodie" and dark. The food and service were outstanding. Would definitely return.
Fantastic food, great atmosphere, Sunday Jazz Brunch was amazing. Perfect location over looking the French Market.
Definitely among the best food I've had in my life. I've been here twice for dinner now, and Sbisa is going to be a guaranteed stop anytime I'm back in NOLA.
The bar and music are awesome; this would be a great place to even stop in and grab a drink, but you'd be doing yourself a disservice to not eat too. The food menu is short but sweet. The turtle soup, crab cakes, & oysters are great. The BBQ Shrimp is fantastic, and makes a very good shared appetizer for the table. I've also ordered the Trout Eugene and Court bouillon, which were both phenomenal.
We enjoyed the Gumbo, Louisiana Blue Crab Cakes, Shrimp and Grits, and Pasta Jambalaya and they were all the best of each that we’ve ever had. We stumbled upon Cafe Sbisa while walking down Decatur Street and glad we did. Highly recommended to all!!
Wonderful service, great atmosphere and the food was super delicious and beautifully presented. Definitely will eat here again and recommend to friends and family.
Beautiful Decor, staff was very friendly and accommodating service was great. Live Jazz music was wonderful. Most of all food was amazing. Definitely will be back!
This place is great. Went for a 30th birthday party with 8 people. They even let me order a decorated plate of cake ahead of time for the birthday girl. It wasn't very crowded on Friday at 8pm which was surprising considering the food was incredible. The filet and pork chop were our favorites. The sauce with both was so good. Location is perfect walking distance to Bourbon or Frenchman st to go out after dinner. It is white table cloth and we spent about 50$ a person including 2 bottles of wine for 8 people. Oh and the chocolate cake was incredible and definitely shareable.
Amazing service the waitress was super kind!!! Gumbo and turtle soups are absolutely delicious 1000000000000/10
Service was flat out amazing. Our waiter, Giovanni, was absolutely wonderful. The food was incredible. I've eaten in many places around New Orleans, and this is definitely one of the best experiences I've had. From the live music, to the historic building, you'll find someone to love at this fantastic Decatur Restaurant.
We ate here for our anniversary dinner. They really take care of you. Our waiter Thomas was so helpful and also very entertaining. He was able to suggest items on the menu that would suit our taste. Food was VERY good. We had the blacken redfish and trout. Crabcakes were AMAZING! They don't skimp on crab and the sauce was spot on. Gavin made sure our water glasses never became close to empty. Highly recommend.
As we walked into Cafe Sbisa we were greeted with a warm and friendly smile, and seated promptly.
The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, romantic and full of New Orleans charm.
It was the best meal and dining experience on our trip.
The staff is very attentive, friendly and extremely professional. Our waitress Jakia was fantastic! Thank you!
Sean has been there since 1899 😉 his hospitality and history of the restaurant is outstanding.
First course, Crab cakes absolutely delicious and one of the best we have ever had!
Second course, hubby had the chicken and sausage gumbo was very yummy and I enjoyed the corn and crab bisque...Omgoodness!
Third course, we ordered the Blackened Red fish and the Trout Eugene both were fantastic and perfectly prepared.
For Dessert we ordered the Banana pudding parfait creamy and delicious with layers of banana cake and candy pecans that added a delicious crunch.
Thank you for a wonderful evening we will definitely be back for another delicious dinner.
From the time you arrive, until the time you leave you will be attended too. Thomas was an OUTSTANDING waiter and Chef Singleton, was the EXCELLENT CHEF HOST! The food was hot, fresh, and very well seasoned. My Wife and I will definitely be back!!!!
Super nice staff and the food was top notch. We had twelve people and everyone loved their dish.
Great little spot. Very elegant and romantic inside. Great wait staff. They were extremely friendly and attentive. The food was excellent as well. We had the BBQ shrimp and it was amazing as well as a couple great appetizers. Would definitely come again! Great date night location!
Great food with incredible service and a great view of the French Quarter
Very nice restaurant. Perfect for a romantic date night.
Cozy bar and restaurant. A great place to experience New Orleans hospitality. Try the gumbo and the shrimp and grits. They are very tasty.
This place was the best place we ate in NO. Vastly better than Galatoire’s, go here instead. My husband had the veal, which was incredible, and I had the trout, also very good. Service was phenomenal. While expensive, we found the prices to be very reasonable for the quality of food and wine we were served. We will definitely return to Sbisa when we visit NOLA again.
I must say I was surprise, The shrimp & grits was AMAZING,The Oyster Sbisa was Awesome. The service Beautiful, I Honestly enjoyed the whole Vibe/Energy!
Came here for my birthday dinner. The staff was super friendly, the food was great, and the wine crisp. The best part they didn't do the cheese birthday sing that makes you want to hide under the table. They all wish me a happy birthday individualy and put a candle in the cake. I was super happy about my time with them and would come back again and again
My wife and I went Cafe Sbisa for my 60th birthday, we were not disappointed. In my top 3 meals of all time. Seafood gumbo was very rich and flavourful with shrimp, crab and fish. Soft shell crabs crisp and juicy. My blackened redfish was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of kick. My wife had the Trout Eugene, very nice as well. Finished it all off with coffee and very good bread pudding.
Service was excellent and very friendly. Highly recommend this place.
Great experience. Our waitercwas very knowledgeable about the cuisine. Overall would return again.
I booked reservations the day of for my birthday. Restaurant was both elegant & nice. Loved the love band as well! I asked CC(waiter) for her best entree. She recommended the trout. She did not let me down. The best dish I've had in NO. Also ordered bottle off wine & cheesecake. Please visit this place, you will not be disappointed.
We were a 4 top table for dinner on a busy Saturday night, the service was on point. The wait staff were very knowledgeable on the menu items as well as the bar selections.
Our table chose to share 3 different appetizers and 4 different entrees to share. The Chef, Alfred Singleton, was on fire with his creations tonight. We could not choose a favorite tonight.
Thanks Chef for a great dining experience.
Beautiful New Orleans restaurant. Wonderful ambiance. The old architecture is beautiful and inviting. Excellent service. Friendly and courteous staff. Chef Albert even gave us the Grand Tour and a history lesson of the building. An exceptional meal. The oyster appetizer is to die for. The redfish dish was excellent as well as the seafood gumbo. Well worth the visit!
Absolutely outstanding establishment in a great location. Service was top tier, couldn't have been more pleased. The menu is very interesting, very well designed and had something for everyone. The food was all delicious (shrimp beignets, pain perdu, andouille hash, chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits) and seating was plentiful for a party of 5 at 11 on a Sunday (though we were here in the off season, so maybe a reservation would be beneficial at times). I could not recommend this place highly enough.
Just come back from 3 nights in New York 3 in Washington and 3 in New Orleans. This was our favourite restaurant from all 3 places and we ate twice here. Great old building and very nice decor inside. Staff are attentive and give excellent service. Food was tremendous.
Had the veal and crab, pork ribeye and crab cakes. From the garlic bread to the entrees, everything was delicious and service was top notch. The live smooth jazz music was an added bonus. I highly recommend this establishment for an upscale menu with affordable prices.
beautiful interior and bar. Thomas took excellent care of us, we enjoyed every dish especially the trout and fried oysters. Staff made us feel at home. Great experience!
We visited the bar twice. Not for the food, but because of the amazing music. There was a band fronted by a soulful women that drew us in. They play an early evening set on Friday and Saturday. Well worth checking out. We were so impressed with the music that we returned to see them play the next day.
Well worth checking out!
Wasn’t starved during the visit and bought some small bites. Taste is good and environment is warm. Jazz is on during lunch and enjoyed. Only thing is dressing is heavy tasted for us but I guess it’s more personal preference rather than good or bad thing. So five star it is
Came here for wrestlemania weekend. Never been to New Orleans before. The waiters and waitresses were very sweet and attentive. Food was some of the best food I ever had. Wished this place was in Florida! Recommend it to everyone! Decently priced as well!
My experience here was absolutely fantastic, the staff was incredibly nice, the music was nice, and the food was absolutely amazing. The gumbo was my favorite. My only complaint is that the lighting was a bit too dark. Everything else was perfect though.
Sit at the bar for a lesson on the fabulous history of this former brothel turned surprisingly delicious eatery. Amazing staff, incredible food.
This place is awesome!!! Hospitality, wait staff, food, atmosphere, everything was excellent. My sister celebrated her 50th Birthday here with dinner and 13 of her girlfriends. We were seated, waited on and served in a friendly and timely manner. This was truly a best in class service!!

Waitress must have been having a bad day. Food was tasty but way over priced for what you got.
Really great place for a quiet(ish) dinner in the French Quarter. I recommend sitting on the balcony outside to get the full experience, but the inside is really cool too. If I can make only one recommendation to you it is this: TRY THE GUMBO. It is absolutely amazing. Their other food is great, don't get me wrong, but the gumbo is the absolute best thing they offer and it is truly special.
I had to post something today a very special Mother’s Day. The food was wonderful and the service was great but what made this day so great for us was the use of the young man who held our pocketbook and jacket and food to go. The training of the staff made it great The staff was so pleasant that you had to enjoy every part of the place and the service. Thank guys I hope to be back soon.
Tried the chief’s specials, and are absolutely amazing!!! Like the taste, like the music, like the vibe!!!
Arrived in NO on a very delayed flight and was looking for a quiet, nice dining experience...away from the Bourbon St. area I was staying in.
The restaurant suggested to me couldn't seat me (busy Friday night) and I popped my head into Sbisa's , down the street, and went in.
What a find! Great service staff and the food was spectacular.
Loved it so much, that when friends (on a reunion) came in the next day, we couldn't score a reservation at several of the places they suggested, I took them back to Sbisa's.....and they're still raving about it.
We quite enjoyed our dinner here. The staff were very attentive and the chef made sure to ask our opinion of the food. The Courtboullion and the Trout Eugene were particularly excellent. We will be back.
Food was amazing! It was so nice inside. Definitely a hidden gem. Met the owner and he was so nice. Family run business, got to try it!
Dinner was absolutely delicious. Our waitress Anjelique & waiter Kevin was great server. Sbisa is the place to go to enjoy a good meal.
Excellent food and excellent service! We got the shrimp and grits and crawfish andoulle omelet. SUPERB! We went for sunday brunch so an added bonus was the jazz band. A must visit while in the french quarter. Definitely recommend this place.
All I have to say is WOW are we impressed!! The seafood gumbo was *heavy* on the seafood, not watered (or chickened) down like a lot of places. We got the blackened fish du jour, it was redfish last night, and it was seasoned and cooked to perfection. I've eaten a lot of redfish in this city and I can confidently say this was my favorite so far. It came with asparagus and the most delicious creamy sauce. Even their starter garlic bread was decadent and just crunchy enough.
Fell in love as soon as I walking in the door !! The atmosphere was excellent the appetizers where like a piece of heaven! So excited I haven't even got to the many course yet and had to write a review . the staff was extremely friend !! I will definitely make. A point to come here every time I come to new orlean
Just ok. We had a 1830 reservation arrived at 1800 made ourselves known at the desk went and had one drink at the bar although we live locally I believe we were profiled in someway by the chef because of english accents and even though the restaurant was almost empty were sat at the far back adjacent to swing doors leading to restrooms we were about to leave but got moved. Ordered lamb chops asked for them well done waiter said they would be too dry well done and guaranteed no blood if medium well they were slimy and bloody and had to be returned but were ok after being returned . Bottom line this city has many good restaurants I have to dine out here weekly for business I am not saying we won't return but for sure it won't be in a hurry
Stumbled into this place (literally) for a desert that was mind blowing! They were so hospitable that we decided to have our last dinner in town there. It did not disappoint, and quickly became one of our favorite places. We will be back!
Decent
5 star hands down!!! Service was perfect, food was beyond excellent! Gnocchi with blue crab was a 10! Also, save room for dessert!!!!! I had the PB ice cream sandwich, wow!
Had the gumbo. Presentation was nice and fancy. Also had red wine. The service was impeccable, the food was great. The atmosphere is slightly fancy but also comfortable. Right across from fremch market.
There was live music and singing. It was awesome
Best Crab cakes I have ever had. My son had the French toast (I don't remember the actual name of the dish) and said "this is better than ihop" in front of Alfred the chef. I'm still laughing at that. Fine Dining. A rare occasion that I ate slow so it wouldn't end. I shouldn't feel this way about food.
It was wonderful- AND SHE SAID YES!!
Just an absolute pleasure. The Ambience is quaint and the food, service is impeccable. A great find near the French Market. Dined for brunch with a live Jazz ensemble and then again for a delicious dinner.
Great Food and Great Customer Service! They even took the time to charge our phones. The staff stated "this is your home". They offered great advice on places to see. My New Orleans trip was complete because of this place!
Food is good. I ordered the shrimps and grits after having it in May, which Is why I came back , was disappointing. Too much onion or garlic!!
Excellent drinks and customer service. I looked all over town for an original Strawberry Daiquiri. It wasn't on the drink menu, and Mackenzie (the bartender) didn't have the strawberry liqueur the recipe calls for, but she improvised and made one especially for me.
Take the time to get to know the staff, they will tell you about the history of the building and restaurant.
The food is amazing we had the pasta jambalaya and the tomato mozzarella salad.
Really good meal, very warm welcome, especially since we had never been. Met people who go several times in a week, every time they come to NO. Charmaine Neville does the lounge singer thing on Friday night's which is a perfect accompaniment to dinner!
Food was so delicious. Service was personalized.
Absolutely love this place. Fantastic food and service. We were there with a group of 9 and were still able to serve each dish to each person at the exact same time.
Went there for thanksgiving and the food was awesome. Very relaxed atmosphere. We were seated on the balcony watching the world go by with the sound of local jazz being played across the street.
Everything you want - especially in accommodations, customer service, ambiance and especially food! Owner did extra just for our comfort. Highly recommend this. The presentation of the food is superb!
When you come to New Orleans, you MUST eat at Cafe Sbisa! The food is fabulous, every one of the staff is outstanding and friendly, the atmosphere is top-notch!! So glad we listened to our hotel concierge and fudn’t Miss this place!
The food was amazing. My husband got the seafood gumbo and cajun mac and cheese. I had the oyster po boy. We were both beyond pleased with the service and loved the food. Would go there again.
Price was very reasonable for the quality of the food
We went here for my boyfriend's birthday. It was one of the best meals I've ever had. The service was phenomenal. Try the turtle soup!
Friendly atmosphere, great drink specials, amazing cajun mac & cheese. Megan and Joseph are great managers. I loved laughing and hearing about the art on the walls. Great history here.
Service & food surpassed our expectations. We were a table of 4, each of us had a different dish and OMG - hard to say which dish was the best. We left full and satisfied.
Service was bad. The food looks amazing. HAd to wait awhile to be seated even with a reservation. Food was overpriced. Service didn’t speak to us. The utensils we didn’t need for our food they put back to be used later!!!!!! GROSS
The food was great. I loved the bloody mary and Kevin made us feel like family and filled the glasses on the money. thank you
Lovely experience with a very comfortable atmosphere. My husband and I truly enjoyed the great services, food and live music. The Delish Crab Cakes!
Beautiful setting, wonderful staff (with great stories!), and food that made my tastebuds sing with every bite! We'll definitely be back every time we're in NOLA!
I have the turtle soup here EVERY year here for my Birthday.
This year they were booked solid with Valentine's reservations and yet they still fit me in!
❤Cafe Sbisa

Thank You!
Great food and excellent service, the fish was amazing.
We will definitely visit again.
Great service. Only had the turtle soup and no drinks but wasn't rushed or treated less. Chef was also happy to tell me about the soup
The hospitality and dishes are unmatched! Here, everyone aims to please. We had a wonderful and intimate birthday celebration and they made it memorable!
Beautiful restaurant with amazing ambience.. old New Orleans. I loved everything about the space. Service was highly efficient. Food good. I highly recommend the Vieux Carre' martini.
Great food and service. We had crab cakes, friend green tomatoes and the petite filet. Thomas was wonderful!

Food was good, drinks tasty, wait staff very friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed the live music too. Multiple floors, so lots of room.
An explosion of beautiful flavors equally balanced with the right amount of kick. This stablishment is top notch! The attention to detail is beyond the average human understanding ! 10 stars .... open a restaurant like this in D.C.

Amazing place. Great staff, great owners. There for a rehearsal dinner upstairs. Food was delicious especially the bread pudding.
Had a perfectly cooked steak. A very nice environment and a very good wait staff. Prices are reasonable for the French Quarter.
Cici was the best. She took great care of us during our visit.
Loved it. We got to set on the balcony and watch the French Quarter. That alone was worth the cost. Great food, cocktails, and service.
Food was 5 star. The menu was satisfying. The restaurant had a welcoming feel to it.
Food and music is 5 star!!! The atmosphere isvery coxy and relaxed the smooth jazz by The Nola Band is first class.

We went for brunch and the food was amazing, plus they had great service.
I found the turtle soup aromatic and the duck a l'orange tender, flavorful. Perhaps you can try these. All other details were also great. And thanks, Ceonne for your service.
Very attentive staff and the atmosphere of a fine restaurant. Food was very good. Extra points for the live music.
Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming!! Food was exceptional...first time dining; however, it certainly will not be our last!

Great place
Wonderfully delicious
Delicious food!
Good creole food
Great dinnet
Exceptional
DELICIOUS!
I wasn’t blown away. The courtbouillion was just okay, I wish I got something else. The waiter was weird. It seemed like he had an attitude that my friend didn’t want wine. When we tried to add a 4th appetizer, he seemed annoyed because we didn’t order it from the beginning. Like why does it matter? That’s more money for the restaurant.
Pasta jambalaya was excellent with pleasant service and live band. Outstanding 👍🏼
(Translation) very good croissant
