Reviews of Cafe Beignet on Royal Street
Dee K
Every person we met said to try a Cafe Beignet and we weren’t disappointed! We ordered mimosas and food for brunch. The inside had a long line but it honestly didn’t take long to get through the line to order. My crew wasn’t huge fans of the coffee here and the grits needed more flavor but everything was delicious and met expectations. Sandwiches, French toast, and omelettes all good and the beignets were the best. Felt very authentic!

Such a great place the beignets were the best I have ever had in my life! Super long lines for breakfast but it’s worth the wait for such good food! The sandwiches were very tasty! Staff was super friendly and it had a beautiful outdoor seating area! Will visit here again when in the city!

I came here with my husband and friend. We decided to try the lattes and beignets here and were not disappointed! They served us hot beignets and it tasted like it was freshly made! Absolute divine.
Best part was the live band playing the blues, what a treat! Remember to bring some cash with you to tip the musicians. The overall ambiance was amazing, it really made my day. I highly recommend this place if you want to experience the culture of New Orleans.

Cute little place! Sandwich was good. I wish I was toasted or a tad warm. The beignets are good if u eat them there. My husband got the lemonade and it wasn’t so great. Over all it was a good experience for us.

Nice little spot to grab a quick breakfast. There was a line almost the whole time we ate there. We arrived around 11 AM as well. Food was really good and actually came out pretty fast. Strong mimosas and big portions. Their beignets are great as well! Definitely recommend. Only downside is that it is pricey. But that is expected.

With a strikingly old-fashioned feel, this cafe is not only quaint but full of delicious eats and treats. Cafe Beignet is a popular busy little place so be prepared for a short wait that's well worth your time. Indoor and outdoor seating is available for small party seating. I had breakfast and enjoyed a ham and cheese croissant, chocolate drizzled beignets, and hot chocolate. Yes I love chocolate! ❤ So many othe menu choices available so I'm sure you may find something for your palate that you will enjoy.

This place was excellent with the beignets. They were perfectly hot and melted in your mouth once you took that first bite I also had a breakfast sandwich that I did not get to take a picture of because it was absolutely delicious. I just hope this place starts to sell turkey products just as well as pork, other than that the food was splendid. Prices were great and the people that you meet just sitting here enjoying your lunch. Dinner breakfast are just as sweet as they can be.

Amazing!! The beignets and atmosphere were 10/10. We love the feeling on royal street, and this shop is in the heart of the French quarter. They have a great brunch menu with vegan options.
Celeste
Loved our experience at Cafe Beignet! The beignets are something to talk about. Soft and pillowy, really delicious. Got the ham and cheese sandwich on a croissant and loved it! The coffee is strong and the staff is great. Service is quick! The decor is awesome lots of photo ops. Highly recommend!

First time here. This place was clean and well nice decorated. I think this is a great and cool spot for a quick breakfast or lunch. The sandwiches and juices we ordered came out fresh and delicious. The staff was nice and attentive.
Hester Pamela
Cute store in the French quarter. I tried 2 other beignets place and like this spot! Airy beignets!
The line can get long so be ready for 15-20 min wait at least.
Unfortunately did not try their breakfast menu/sandwiches/beverages - can’t say if they are good but there are plenty of savory options too.

Finally made it to New Orleans and had some delicious beignets. It was a busy Saturday morning. Stood in line about 30 minutes but I was willing to wait. And it was worth it! I enjoyed the soft, yet crunchy warm beignets. The powdered sugar was perfect 😍 and it paired nicely with the coffee ☕️ My husband had a roast beef Po-boy sandwich and it was delicious, he really enjoyed the sauce that came with it. My daughter had the jambalaya and she loved it. I sampled everything and was not disappointed. xo
Carl James
Beignet here was just so so...not the best I've had in Nola. Fried pretty hard and the dough had a sour taste to it. But I really enjoyed the aesthetic of the shop. It's really cool looking inside & out.
Albina Kaliyeva
Thank you so much for such a nice service. Even owner tried to help us with choice in food. I really appreciate that kind of restaurant/cafe. You guys, doing good job! Thanks again for the additional dessert, didn’t expect that. Next visit to New Orleans I would be happy to have a breakfast at your place! My pleasure!
Philip Hake
Don't hesitate; come here and get Beignets.
They are made to order hot and fresh. They also serve a variety of omelets, has browns, sandwiches and more. If you are looking for a nice brunch spot sing by for a mimosa with that comes with a mini bottle of champagne.
They have indoor and nice patio are with outdoor seating.
Rebecca Steiner
The line to get in to this place was out the door for all the days of my trip. The place is very popular. It is walkable from many hotels. The beignets were very large/good portion sizes/value for the money. The amount of powdered sugar was very generous. Get napkins. They were out of some coffee/tea drinks when I visited. The coffee was so-so. The cashiers were not friendly. This was somewhat understandable because of how busy they are and I am sure tourists and customers can be annoying. Still, the customer service stood out negatively. It would be helpful to have employees prepare a sign when the cafe is out of certain items. It might cut down on the number of people ordering items that are temporarily out of stock. Many tables were dirty.
Sajleen
Love it! My favorite place to get beignets. They are all pillowy and soft. The omelets are pretty good also. Cute little place next to the police station. Enough sitting space both inside and out. I love that they carry chai latte. Also one of only a few place that checked vaccine cards. Quick service, great food. A plus was opening so early at 7:00 am so we could grab breakfast before going on a tour.
Jack Hung
This was our first stop after landing in French Quarter and it sure did not disappointment. Cozy atmosphere, and it sure gets busy during the day (expect lineups). We sat outside in the garden and the natural plants sure felt very soothing from the street’s hustle and bustle.
The menu looked pretty standard (other café offer similar items if not the same) and we had the beignet, which we thought was the best in town and not too sweet. (You can have it sweeter by having chocolate drizzle on the side.)
Will definitely return if we come back to New Orleans.
David Fountain
Definitely a popular spot with several locations. Was a great place for a lite breakfast or brunch. The Beignets are a must, or the chocolate muffin hit the spot-yum. The andouille omelet was also done perfect, or the crawfish and grits.
Rebekah Lewis
First time having beignets absolutely delicious just perfect, soft, sweet better than a donut on any day. I was able to enjoy this with my daughter's we had powder sugar everywhere I'm sure everyone could tell we were from Nebraska.
Jason Rogachesky
Efficient, courteous, delicious. They are experts with the espresso machine. Not wheelchair friendly but there are tables outside where you can make a little room if you have someone who can stand in line to place your order. Or you can have someone take it to go like we did. They sell some bakery goods as well as extras like spices and Beignet dry mix.
Thu Le
They have super puffy and delicious beignets with a light dusting of sugar over top. Friendly staff. Quick service. Cute little cafe. Breakfast food was great. A good serving size.
Brenton Stone
Of the two places we visited for beignets on our short trip to NOLA, this was definitely the best. There was a line out to the sidewalk the first time we stopped in, but it moved fairly quickly. Their beignets were excellent! Pillowy with a golden outer that was very lightly crispy (not soft and chewy) with a warm soft pillowy inside. Topped with powdered sugar but not completely covered in it. The cafe au lait made with their special coffee/chicory blend was very tasty. We also had omelettes for protein and enjoyed them very much, although we aren't fond of grits that are served as a side. Wide selection of baked goods, snacks, and other food as well as take home goods to bake yourself, spices, treats, coffee beans (and ground) etc. We visited a second time on the same day. Looking forward to visiting here again on our next trip.
Dianne V.
Another side street w left over parade beads toys n candy lying all over. Flower by Mother Nature. Beignets were ok. I personally just don't get the lines for these things. You can make these at home. I add a touch of cinnamon w my sugar n drizzle a bit of melted butter on the top only b4 serving. Just powdered sugar was a bit boring. Hot chocolate was more watery than chocolatey. First visit was enough for me.
Vanessa
Really cute (on the eye) cafe/ bakery. Went in because of the fantastic reviews on their beignets. Got an order or beignets (3) and a decaf coffee. The coffee was horrendous, very bitter. No amount of sugar and cream could fix the taste. Since I began with my coffee I believe it “altered” my taste for the sweet beignet pastries.
Beignets were too heavy and sugary for my liking to eat for breakfast/ lunch. However, the atmosphere and open door location is too cute to pass up. Would recommend for other tourists. I would like to try other plates at this restaurant.
Kavitha Krishnan
Unfortunately we did not have a good experience. We waited close to 45 minutes for our food, and the restaurant wasn't even full. The beignets tasted overcooked and dry. It was difficult to bite into and was chewy. We ordered the Veggie Omelet and Chicken sausage Jambalaya. The food tasted good, nothing great about it. We were disappointed amount the quantity of the food, not much at all for the price compared to other cafes we have been to.
Ravi Chandra Appasani
We were in french quarters for a night and trying Beignet was one of the must do for the stop. During our walk through french quarters stopped by here for Beignet and Beer. Beer was around 8$. Beignet were ok!
Place has very good ambiance with live music.
Tara Schlafer
This review is meant for Cafe Dumonde. Ive never been to this place. Beignets and coffee are delicious. This was #1 on my bucket list and didn't disappoint. Live music.
Laura Ross
Quick stop our final morning in New Orleans, always a pleasant experience. Be sure to bring cash and don’t forget about the line in the back of the building. Don’t forget to tip and be sure to leave a few dollars for the local musicians always present and always enhancing the atmosphere. Took our extras home and utilized the air fryer the next morning, watched them carefully and while not the real thing they didn’t disappoint!
Dallin Yarrington
Loved stopping and eating here. The muffaletta sandwich (served hot) was great and so was the crawfish etouffee. It was also great to try a little bit different style beignet than you can get elsewhere... And it didn't disappoint. Coming here is a must while visiting New Orleans
Chelsea Martinez
Alot to beinget places are hyped up in New Orleans but this place is 100% worth the hype. The Royal St location I think is worth the trip because it's an adorable café with room inside and outside to eat. They open early which was great for us because we quickly realized many places in New Orleans didn't open for breakfast until 8am. Café beinget opens by 7. Great experience, great service and great food. Beingets so light and fluffy, they just melt into your mouth.
Alison Rennie
Lovely staff, really clean shop, live music, food was gorgeous too! Sandwiches looked so good, beignets were amazing!
Alice Edwards
Excellent breakfast- we came back multiple times for the beignets and Cajun hash.
Better beignets than Cafe Du Monde! Superb coffee too- recommend the iced cafe au lait.
Alyssa K
Beignets were way better than Cafe du Monde. The crawfish and grits were a great start to my morning. I loved both the indoor and outdoor settings. The line was never too long at any time of day.
Tom West
Cafe beignet is very pretty and historical looking inside. The service was quick and friendly and the beignets were very good and freshly made, nice and hot. I thought overall the service and beignets were better than Cafe du monde and less of a tourist trap. Cafe au lait was very good as well.
Natasha T
Got the plain and chocolate beignets to go. They were thrown in a paper bag with powdered sugar all over them. Wish they were put in a paper tray and then in a bag. It would make it easier to eat. But, still delicious and super warm.
Alexa Murayama
I love this cafe! The beignets are the best in the French Quarter. They had almond croissants that just blew me away. The best I have EVER had. I went back the next day to get some more for the trip home. I am not a fan of coffee but I really enjoyed their café au lait.
Regan Sur
Cute little Cafe Beignet! Had a wonderful little spot to sit outside or inside. Loved the spot and employees were nice!
Kelvin Traylor
In the morning, be expecting a line there to get you morning coffee, breakfast, or something sweet. The atmosphere felt like a French Café. The staff was friendly and quick. Would love to come back again, especially for those beignets... 😁
Melissa Kimlinger Lawrence
Sorry to disagree, but I wouldn't go out of my way for the beignets here. The beignets were fresh, but slightly doughy and lacked flavor. We also got gumbo, jambalaya, an omlet, and a muffaletta. Compared to other places we've eaten in the city, the portions were disappointingly small for the prices. Barely a cup of dry rice and beans for the jambalaya (no sauce, maybe a few bits of ham). The gumbo was really good and well spiced, but again maybe a cup serving for $11. The omlet was about 4 inches square for $10. $4 for a lemonade, no refills, nothing special and again, small. The cashier was nice, but the barista was rude and impatient, rolling her eyes when I asked about options and slapping a menu in my hands. We spent about $90 for our family to have lunch, and we didn't feel the food and experience were worth it.
David Blake
This was recommended by our tour driver and it was great. Super quick service, great value and coffee my wife thinks is the best she's ever had. We shared a jambalaya and 3 beignets which was ample for lunch. Think we might find our way back there tomorrow.
Kishoria Barry
Really enjoyed my beignets from Cafe beignet. They say go to another well known shop but Cafe Beignet makes amazing beignets and their coffee is great too. Also a great location in the French quarter. Less crowded and just more enjoyable. They also so to go if you want to walk and munch.
Crystal Hodgkinson
Had to wait for staff to finish there personal conversation before I could get served. Seems they have an issue with their boss..TMI! Pecan tart was good, iced Cafe aulait was OK. It was pretty quiet in there at 3pm but the tables were mostly dirty. Nothing special to report. Cute patio dining area though.
Michelle Harlow
This was our last meal on our trip to NOLA. Loved the beignets! Served warm & fresh 👌 The French omlettes were great too. I personally enjoyed my French toast. I would rate this the #1 beignet place for freshness. …

UPDATE TO MY ORIGINAL REVIEW - I need to upgrade my review from a 1 star to a 4 star because I have been in contact with the owner of this cafe due to our experience on our first visit. The food and atmosphere are A-1! Excellent! For that, I give an absolute 5 star. I am only leaving off 1 star because we did have a miserable dining experience. However, the owner and management have taken care of the problem and fixed it in a BIG, BIG way! For that, I sincerely thank them and appreciate it! Now, I can highly recommend anyone to dine at this charming and absolutely delicious cafe! I can assure you that my experience will not be repeated on anyone, and I would also visit there again, if ever in the area. Hats off to THE BEST customer service EVER!!!
Jays Play Days
Very long line but the were accommodating. Best thing on menu is the roast beef po boy. I love there fluffy beignets also. Jambalaya and gumbo not good.

If you are in New Orleans and it's too crowded at Cafe Du Monde, then try here. Cafe Beignet is good with limited seating and same prices as Cafe Du Monde. They do offer breakfast, lunch and other drinks besides coffee at lait. They even offer beignets with a chocolate drizzle on top. There is paid parking right next to restaurant as free parking is hard to find. Nice for tourists, families, friends or eating solo. ENJOY!
Papa George Maxson
We visited both locations in our trip to NO Both were great. Fast service considering how long the lines are. The website says the one opens at seven but it actually doesn’t open till 730
Parvathy Sarat
The Gumbo is very hearty and filling. Beignets are yum! The street is usually busy on weekends and so is this place. Portion sizes are not too big, enough for a cafe meal.
Gökay Zeren
The sandwich was okay, the waffle is average. Recommended but not to die for. Great sandwich cafe to catch a breath.
W
Very much enjoyed my taste of beignets at Cafe Beignet. The chocolate drizzled beignets is a must have. The portion is large (3 beignets per order), I had 2 beignets and was full for breakfast.
Anel Cabrera
Food took about 40 minutes to get, once we got it is was cold. Hard pass on French toast. Really enjoyed the beignets.
Lauren
Their beignets were delicious and warm. We got an order of the regular and an order of the Mardi Gras beignets. Personally, I liked the Mardi Gras ones better with the glaze; The regular didn't have much powdered sugar, which is sometimes nice too but not what I was craving. The courtyard was cute and quaint; I enjoyed this spot. The service was quick for how busy it was. My only complaint is the coffee wasn't the best. I got a chicory coffee and just dont understand the hype. My boyfriend got a regular medium roast and it was also mediocre. But still well worth the experience.
Debra Scott
Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff. Bagle breakfast sandwich, southern breakfast and beignets. All delicious!
Jord Cornelius
My wife and I came to visit New Orleans from Canada and we could not find coffee comparable to tim horton until we found this fine establishment, the coffee is great the bignets are good and the breakfast is very tasty , it gets very busy here so prepare to be in line at times i must say it is worth it tho , the carrot cake here is very delicious loved the layers and the bacon and egg breakfast with grits is very tasty , i feel its the best grits ive had yet very flavoful very tasty , the service was great all around a good experience.
Weldon Mendes (Styhumble10)
It’s a must try when you go to New Orleans, the smell permeates the atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and inviting. The beignets is simply devine and I had mine with the Lemonade with an extra shot of ^***^🤫.
Robin Khariuk
Despite being a close run thing think the café au lait and beignet are better here than Cafe du Monde. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the location is a nice place to sit and enjoy your food and drink.
mojovoyager
All of the Cafe Beignet restaurants offer great beignets at a reasonable price (3 for $4). All offer outdoor seating in quaint patios and on the sidewalks providing a great way to watch the myriad of tourists and locals make their way through the big easy.
Be prepared to wait in line as the reds stay busy throughout the day. However, the service is prompt and the turnover is relatively quick such you are only waiting in line twenty minutes or less.
The restaurants on Canal and Bourbon attract larger throngs of people and may take a little longer than twenty minutes before it is your turn to order. The restaurant on Royal is a little less on the well trodden tourist path and appears to offer a slightly quicker dining experience. Also, on Royal you may get the opportunity to enjoy a funeral band come by as you dine.
My one disappointment with Cafe Beignet comes from their muffuletta. Based on the outstanding quality of the beignets, you would think that the muffuletta bun would be devine. However, my experience with the Cafe Beignet bun was just okay. Also, you expect the muffuletta to be inches thick with meats, cheese and olive salad. While the Beignet muffuletta was quite tasty, the portions were quite meager. Oh well, that just left some room for me to indulge in more of the Big Easy' decadent offerings later in the day.

The restaurant itself is really nice and relaxing and the food is amazing. I had a Beignet and the first bite took me to the high heavens it was truly a wonderful experience, my while family had to shake me out of it cuz I got lost in the flavors🤤 …
John Owens
We were recommended to breakfast here, a short walk from our hotel in Dauphine st. Short queue when we arrived but found a seat. Lots of people were sitting outside in the grounds of the police station next door. Ate 5 unsweetened beignets which wasn't the right decision! Worst part was the queue from the servery to and out of the door which we were near. They had an issue with Internet access so was cash only. Lots of locals rushing out to find an ATM!
Hungry Squirrel (Hungry Squirrel)
Love this place, the beignet is fresh, made to order. Very cute place. You have to try it. And great location.
Avram Granett
Loved these beignets more than any of the other places we had them. They were crisp on the outside, covered in powdered sugar, and light and fluffy inside.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the courtyard was really lovely for sitting and enjoying the beignets.
suzanne juarez
Such a cute place to enjoy coffee and Beignets , loved the atmosphere ❤️, I wanna go back
Michael Jordan
Awesome food and beignets. Definitely recommend trying this place out if you’re nearby!
Ron Watson
The beignets are freshly made when you order and hot when they arrived to the table.
Gregor Muhs
Nice place for a coffee and something to eat. They've got seats inside and outside in a little garden and on the pedastrian street. The interior is stylish and has history.
I had a "Muffamuffuletta" and a cappuccino what was good.
Dewayne Henry
The beignets were pretty good, but I think both Morning Call and Cafe du Monde have better beignets. The staff here is not so friendly as they really don't seem to care whether you come here or not. You figure people would want your business, but this place doesn't act like it. The beignets were pretty good, and the place looks nice.
Amy Schilling
A beautiful cafe that serves delicious breakfast and beignets. Their coffee is delicious and the beignets are very fluffy and come our piping hot.
Michael Francis
Great place for a coffee and something more than a pastry but less than a full meal (though both are possibilities).
Name says it all, come for a beignet. We also had a cappuccino and crawfish etouffee, both good.
Sara Mitchell
Lovely little coffee shop, beignets we’re on point, cafe Au latte was good. Seats are small and don’t encourage lingering but the location is picturesque and the service friendly and fast.
Maria Carroll
This was our second morning in a row here for breakfast. Don’t let the line fool you. They are fast. The food is great too!
Amy L Perez
The beignets are delicious! They also have breakfast and other baked goods. I had breakfast as well it was really good. Make sure to get there early, they had a line by the time we got done.
Wawa Hours
The best neignet in town. It’s fresh, hot, test good and better than Cafe Du Monde.
Cody Shotwell
Cute little cafe! Worth stopping by, we got the chocolate drizzle beignets. There was a pretty long line but moved along very quickly
Lipkvich Fabrication
We loved the small Cafe atmosphere, don't forget to share with the sparrows. The food was reasonably priced. The staff was friendly and helpful. Portions are small, but filling and well laid out. The perfect wake up and start your day kind of place.
Carl Bernstein
Very well known spot, but the line moves quickly and service is fast.
Prices are reasonable for the location, but they do a lot more volume than some of the other restaurants.
The coffee doesn't have too much chicory blended in it. The breakfast sandwich on croissant is actually a decently sized meal.
Cris Bee
Really good coffee, beignets and food. They were out of chai so they suggested a praline drink which was really good. Lots of seating with a self playing piano in the cafe.
gina sandoval
First time in New Orleans one of the reasons we came here was for the famous Beignets! They were really good while we were in we also enjoyed breakfast along with Coffee! The breakfast bagel was a little to oily but delicious. The atmosphere was nice, the only thing I would change is to have clean tables ready for people to sit and enjoy! Other then that it’s a pretty busy little gem!!
Simon Zio
Very nice location with a hidden backyard next to a church in the middle of the French quarter. We got 2 mimosas and we’re a bit surprised with a bill over 30$
Jazzman Shreem Hester
This place is so cute. Breakfast was amazing! Will totally come back.
Chris Bolton
Fresh, Warm Beignets were absolutely perfect. This was my first time having them and they were great!!!
Heath Joiner
Awesome! Greatest beignet for me pkus awesome omelet for my wife. Please don't visit this spot if you like disappointment.
Irene Jayma
Wayy better than the other more popular Beignet place. No line, no rush live music and great Beignets
Pj Hasten
The food is wonderful and the vibes are immaculate. This place is so cute and has such a great atmosphere to relax and enjoy breakfast/brunch in. They have a wide selection of things to get despite the small size of the place. 10/10. Will definitely be coming back here!!!
Chris
We thought that the beignets were very good, hot, and fresh. They are more heavy and dense than Cafe du Monde, and they are very good. The establishment is laid out well and offers outdoor seating. We enjoyed the decor as well. We would definitely visit here again.
Deepthi Viswaroopan
Such lovely beignets (pronounced as ben•yay) Beignets are a different version donuts but much more nice. Very busy place.
Betsy York
This was a pleasant little stop over. It has a very charming reputation but is not exceptional food except for the biegnetes. Coffee hits the spot.
Jason Jonas
I'd love to leave a 5 star rating, but our order was not fully cooked - so I won't. I also rated our service low because our drink order did not match what we got. I would call these potentially the best in New Orleans if they had been fully cooked.
Sara A.
The best beignets I tasted in NOLA. This location is in a prime spot. The staff was so nice. The beignets were fresh and they had Prosecco and champagne and more. This cafe is also an iconic photo spot in the French quarter. Definitely recommend to anyone knew to this city.
Andrew Rhoades
The softest breads. $15 mimosas and they give you the small bottle of Korbel. The vegetable omelette is amazing. The GRITS ARE TO DIE FOR
Laurence Lapeyre
Charming little café. Loved the crawfish omelette with grits and the beignets are fresh and delicious!
Hez Luciani
Great stop on the trip! The beignets were great!! Hot fresh and not nearly the amount of commotion or line at the typical shop people visit. I honestly found the taste and quality of these to be better than the competition. The coffee was delicious and service was fast and friendly. You are also not herded along but given time to enjoy your food. Cute interior with a quaint setting. Stop here, Alton Brown is rarely wrong!
Crystal Micallef
If you are searching for good beignets, look no further! This place has pillow soft beignets. Absolutely delicious and now I understand the hype on this pastry. They have breakfast sandwiches and regular sandwiches. I got the royal croissant and it was tasty as well! Cute outside area to sit and enjoy your breakfast, brunch, lunch, whatever time you go.
Rebecca Carson
The overnight security guy at our hotel suggested Cafe Beignet over the "other" beignet place. They open at 7, and there was a short line at 655am. They have a full menu, the grits are creamy and the bacon thick. I preferred the Americano with creamer and sweetener added at the bar to the typical coffee and milk drink that is so popular in NOLA. My husband said the beignet were terrific.
Chris Lindsey
Day 2 and breakfast here at this location. My first time dining at this location. I got the Cajun Hash Browns that were homestyle potatoes, andouille sausage, bell pepper, and red onion. This had scrambled eggs and French toast. Of course I had to add beignets and Cafe Au Lait. Great breakfast and staff. Great location. Highly recommend. I personally liked the beignets better than Cafe Du Monde.
Ave A.
A little pricey as it’s more of a tourist restaurant but the breakfast was decent and beignets were delicious and fresh. Very strong coffee so beware if that’s not your preference. I wish we had more grits with our meal and that my plate of breakfast was hotter but other than that it was worth visiting.
james barton
Cafe Beignet is our favorite spot for this quintessential NOLA pastry; the coffee is hot and strong the beignets are fresh and warm, and the mimosas make everything special. We enjoy savoring our treat in the small, lovely, and private patio and, imagine this charming scene is all for us.
Sarah Brooks
The line moves fast and the beignets are served very hot! They are super fluffy, but not as much powdered sugar as some other places in town. Definitely worth a try.
Lily Marleen
This place is adorable! It totally has "cafe under a train station in a nice European city" vibes. Beignets were, of course, delicious (and came out VERY hot). Limited seating and the trashcan was all the way in the back (which depending on the crowd, could be a pain to get to), so a lot of people just left their trash on the tables. This place is a must for the ambiance alone, but you need the beignets, too!
Haris Alibasic, Ph.D.
The food was good and service nice. Beignets are awesome, remind of proper Bosnian style krofne, like my grandma used to make. On the negative is the coffee, well, I don’t think it should be described as such. I guess saying dry cappuccino and only foam to be used didn’t get registered. Also, don’t bother ordering waffles because you will be eating them with your hands. You cannot use plastic fork and knife to eat waffles- there are no proper utensils.

I arrived around 10:30 am on a Friday and the line was about 15 minutes long. It was a rainy day so inside seating was wanted and thankfully I was able to get one. The staff was friendly and the service was relatively quick. The beignets were good but nothing out of this world...I would recommend going though because it is part of the NOLA experience. I definitely enjoyed the breakfast sandwich for sure.
Get Glitched
We were lucky enough to get there before the line was too long. I'm not usually a breakfast person but when I asked for the eggs to be done well and the bacon to be crispy man was it on point. My wife loves their grits so much she got 3 orders and now compares everyone's grits to the grits here.

A Good Alternative. Quick, shorter lines and just as good - this is a great choice in a fun area. We enjoyed all the antique shops and had beignets when we were ready for a snack. Very charming, fast service and the beignets were fresh. Visited 5/2022.

I know this place has great reviews and I would like to give it five stars, but I was underwhelmed.
The beignets were good, but I only ordered a breakfast bagel sandwich, and it took a ridiculously long time to get it even though I was the only one in the whole restaurant. The coffee was given to me first, it was mediocre at best, and cold. I didn't get a sense of pride from the people at the front, and they were only going through the motions of providing service. What I did love was the wonderful outside seating, very reminiscent of Europe, which is where I mostly live.
Vanessa S.
Went for breakfast with my husband and it was amazing! The beignets were great: soft inside and kind of crispy on the outside. Very delicious.
Also the outside seating is so cozy and cute here!

The place was clean staff super friendly and the food was awesome! A must try!
Luna Orduz
I got the seasonal beignets with chocolate and peppermint and they were BOMB 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 …
Tara S
Beignets just as good as Cafe Du Monde without the extremely long line. Still a little wait, but not remotely as long. Much better coffee than most places in French Quarter. The outside area is quaint and beautiful.
Samantha Powers
AMAZING beignets!! In my opinion the best in the area. When I visited it was actually not that crowded but customer service is always quick and efficient. The beignets are drowning in powdered sugar- messy but 100% worth it! Support local 💜 …
Lana Roberts
This was highly recommeded by others. It's a fairly small place inside and it's not obvious at first that there's more garden seating outside. We were lucky to get outside. There's a lovely fountain and it's a very nice seating area. The line was a little long and we were deciding whether to stay. Thankfully we stayed since the line moved quickly. Of course, we got beignets... afterall, it's in their name. Everything was great!
James LaLonde
This was a fun and happening place. Live music, funny thing though when the band says the are doing another song before they take a break I noticed people leaving quickly, if you listened and liked what you heard to them leave a tip. The food was delicious and came out quickly.
Philene Harston
Charming little hole in the wall cafe with an adjacent garden seating area. Never had a beignet before and OMG they're worth standing in line for! Even when there is a line, the employees are fast and friendly, moving the line fast.
EE
The best beignets in the French quarter hands down. Sorry cafe du monde but everything about this place is amazing. Shorter lines and faster service but not so fast to where you would think it’s a grab and go type of feeling. The beignets are just so fluffy and delicious. Oh and the bourbon croissant Sandwhich was amazing as well.
Thomas Cassetta
Staff was kind and welcoming, especially the staff on the floor who brought our food and handed out menus to the line. Skipped the beignet, so can’t judge their namesake. They looked amazing, so probably misjudged my order. The belgian waffle was cold after 3mins and cooked at too low of a temperature (almost bread like), and the cafe mocha was hot but dreadfully bad (cheap chocolate syrup, all lingering at the bottom, very poorly prepared).
Cute shop. Would consider going again for the atmosphere and to try the beignets.

Looking for a nice light breakfast in ths quarter? Let the tourists wait an hour at Cafe Du Monde, pop over to Cafe Beignet and get better beignets and breakfast here in a much more relaxed setting. Couple that with they have a full service coffee and drinks 🍸 this place is were it is at. On super busy morning it was a 5 minute wait, and the food and drinks were served up fast and fresh.
Gx B
Beignets were amazing. It can get really packed in the Cafe cause of the layout of the store so that led to a long wait time. All we got was one order of Beignets. They have an outside sitting area as well. Beautiful location.
Michael Wilcox
We visited a couple times and it was fantastic. Don't be deterred by long lines. The staff is very efficient and it moves pretty fast. Food was really good and prices seemed low to me. Great value!
Allison Davis
Take your picture outside the Cafe du Monde if you must but eat at Cafe Beignet! The beignets are warm and fresh and much bigger than the other place!!! The location on Royal Street is so quaint and charming. The little birds coming in and out are the perfect entertainment as you enjoy the perfect cup of cafe latte. Definitely recommend!
Angie Duefrane
The atmosphere was great. The beignets were delicious. I ended up buying about 4 bottles of hot sauce and seasoning too.
Jeanna Edmondson
We visited the enchanting city of New Orleans in June of 2022 and stayed in the French Quarter. Just a short and beautiful walk from our historic hotel was Cafe Beignet and wow is it worth the walk! After trying another big name Beignet joint and being quite underwhelmed, we stumbled upon this adorable place. The atmosphere is whimsical, transporting you to another time and the beignets?… Absolutely divine! We stopped here multiple times during our trip and we will definitely be back when we visit this incredible city again ❤️
Walid ElAsmar
If it were only for the food, I'd give this place four stars because their beignets are some of the best I've had in NOLA - yes noticeably better than Café du Monde's. The hot chocolate on the other hand was tasteless (I threw mine after a sip), but then hot chocolate is not why one goes to Café Beignet.
Customer service was surprisingly bad and not in ways that could be blamed on the workload. The person at the counter was conspicuously and utterly uninterested in customers. No greeting, no eye contact, her self-absorption only matched by her haughtiness and lack of interest in sparing a few words to make the purchasing process more efficient. It was all quite puzzling.
Dave Rea
Had the café au lait and some biegnets.
The beignets are quite large. A regular order (3), would have been more than enough for the 2 of us. The flavor was decent, however they were a bit doughy inside. I don't know if that is by design or needed another minute in the fryer. Either way, not a fan.
The café au lait is a solid cup of coffee.
Candice
This place is a local gem, in all honesty it might even be better than Cafe Du Monde. The coffee is good and the beignets are not over sugared with clumps of powdered sugar. The Cafe itself is very cute and totally worth the stop! Price wise it is JUST more expensive than the other Cafe but you get what you pay for!
Ask Me
This place is great with the large windows open. It makes the time waiting and dinning an experience. The food is good and the street performers are really entertaining.
P L
The baked goods are yum! Key lime pie is one of the best I’ve ever had! I wish they had more condiments at the self serve station, though. There were only two bottles of hot sauce available and all taken. I love the interior and decorations, but it was rather dim. Overall, I enjoyed it here!
Finch
The setting is wonderful, beautiful little outdoor garden seating with a cozy retro interior cafe. Bakery items and beignets are delicious, coffee is delicious, but food is just alright. The cajun hash browns are great, but the scrambled eggs and french toast were kind of dry and not very flavorful or interesting. I would give 4 stars, however there is a fat orange cat that hangs out in the garden who is very friendly and likes ham so that automatically adds a star. Recommend for casual but pretty and scenic coffee and beignet stop.
Ellie Sosnowski
Delicious beignets and delightful strong coffee. It's a bit of wait in line, but worth the wait. Pretty busy and apparently a hot spot for their beignets. Definitely worth the trip and the wait in line. My husband and I highly recommend this place. You've got to try it at least once.
SAVANNAH JONES
Delicious beignets! Never had them til I went there and there was no disappointment. Clean environment and quick service. Gets packed very quick so get there as early as possible. Also there is very few seating available inside so if it happens to be cold outside you might want to take your order to go.
Kelly Waite
Cute place, looked very authentic and original (this location anyway. There are several). First time trying a po-boy, we ordered roast beef-it was amazing!! So delicious. We also ordered French toast - by far the worst French toast I've ever had (and I love french toast). It was dry and flavorless, tasted like the French bread was dipped solely in egg, no flavoring or seasoning or sweetening at, and then cooked too long.
joyce gincley
This is a quaint little cafe, but it gets busy and full rather quickly. Tucked away next to the NOPD, it offers outside and inside seating. Food is great, clean, good service. Get there early for breakfast!
LP V
For me was heaven, so good! And didn't feel like I was in New Orleans at all
Rick Collins-Kempf
This should be the place everyone raves about for the best beignets in town. Forget Cafe Du Monde. Aside from the beignets, the test of their food was amazing as well, and all with a fabulous ambiance and friendly staff. My new go to spot for trips to New Orleans!
Just Me
Is this the same store that was down at the river? I went there two years ago. We ordered coffee and beignets. The next morning I got a Bloody Mary, and then I ordered another. It was all good, and the live music was great. I have no idea what it is like today.
Egg Roll
The beignets were really good I got the the chocolate ones.
the hot chocolate wasn’t very good the coffee was mid to defiantly not worth the price for the drinks the waiter man was very kind so was the lady taking our order I’d say just come for the beignets
Rosalind Gibson
Absolutely love this place! The beignets are on point. Both of us agreed that these were much better than the other beignets shop in town. Better texture and taste not to mention the coffee is good too. We went here after going to the other shop. I'm glad I did because I wouldn't go to the other one after this. We enjoy this place so much we came twice during our short weekend.
The second visit we even ordered items in addition to our beignets. Ordering breakfast, a large coffee, and beignets did cost nearly $20 but it was worth it. I definitely recommend this place.
Matt and Nat
The beignets here are to die for! An order of 3 is enough to feed a family! Lol… They are huge and airy, but somehow still heavy and dense. The perfect beignet! And the Cafe au Lait is excellent as well! All of the staff was extremely kind and helpful including the owner! Excellent beignets and excellent people. If you’re in New Orleans, THIS is the place to get your beignets!
mahesh thoutam
Looks small as similar to other places in NORL but the food tastes good. Beignet are very tasty, one should try if there are in New Orleans. Parking is a bit tricky here.
Beth Adkins
Best Beignet I've had! Go early before everyone gets moving. Gets crowed fast! Prices are ok but your in a tourist town so your paying for that!!!
Matt Springett
Small portions for the price, but the food was good.
Jessica Tuft
Great place to try some classic NOLA breakfast foods. Beignets were awesome and so was the crowded omelette. There's 3 cafes in the city but we liked outdoor seating of the one on Royal Street quite a bit.
mediscover style
Came here for their famous beignets and they were delicious, served hot with plenty of powder sugar. It was my first time to have beignet; I was expecting sweeter item but this was perfect as it did not overwhelm us with lots of sugar. The place was packed but we found a table to seat. There was a live music performance. The place seemed ok in cleanness; despite heavy traffic tables were clean. We placed our beignet and drink orders and seated patiently waiting for beignets. We loved beignets but not disappointed with drinks. Tea was extremely hot and hot chocolate did not have any chocolate taste; it was more like warm milk with cinnamon.
Kevin Taylor
While tourists crowd around Cafe Du Monde in Jackson square, the savvy folks know that Cafe Beignet on Royal Street is the place to go if you want better Beignets and Cafe au Lait in a place with more charm and ambiance.
Daniel Zuniga
Great outdoor seating and beignets are phenomenal. Grab a coffee and watch the people walk by while you sip. Watch out for powdered sugar!
B Martin
Well of couse the beignet's were fabulous (was shocked they lived up to the "hype") but it was the service that made me give it the 5 stars. Covid required 2 lines, but still fast and efficent service. Also dog friendly.
John Sly
Love the beignets here. The coffee was good too. Very nice location with a little bit of outdoor seating.
John Hsieh
Cafe Beignet... better known as the direct competitor of Cafe Du Monde just down the street. My wife and I stopped by here after a very unsatisfying meal at another restaurant in the French Quarters and thank goodness Cafe Beignet serves more than just beignets. Breakfast is available all day, so I opted for the Andouille Sausage Omelette. My wife was a little bit more ambitious, so she got the Muffaletta. The food was solid but nothing to rave about. But let's be honest, people don't really come here to eat the normal menu... Now let's turn our attention to the key issue at hand, the beignets. Cafe Beignet's beignets were served in triplets with a ton of powdered sugar, but that's about where the similarity between the two places ends. Cafe B's beignets were significantly larger, which meant a significantly lower surface to volume ratio. However, this was compensated by the fact that beignets were so much more airy (while warm, the darn things turn into rocks overnight from both places), so the powder sugar level wasn't really an issue. The batter itself also tasted different from Cafe D. Our decision was that we preferred the beignets from Cafe B, but our recommendation is to try both places and decide which one suites your palate.
Robert Velarde
We came right on time because when we ordered our beignets, the line was short and right as we were leaving, the line went all the way to outside. We ate in the car and everything was great. The beignets were amazing and the prices are great too (3 for $4). Second time we’ve been here and it has been as great as the first time.
Mickey Luongo
This was my favorite beignet of the ones I was able to try in New Orleans. They are large and have a wonderful pillowy interior. Quick and efficient service too.
Cresta Christensen
Everything we got here was delicious! We had beignets, of course, and they were a little more crispy than I prefer, but my husband loved them! We went back the next day and tried the key lime pie and a king cake cookie. Both were really tasty. In comparison of Cafe Du Monde, they are both fresh and flavorful but Cafe Beignet’s beignets are more flat and crispy, whereas Cafe Du Monde’s are pillowy and fluffier. So it just depends on your preference.
Perks Advisor
Love this little cafe that features beignets complete with powered sugar. There is seating and it is not nearly as crowded so you can relax. They also offer coffee and other things to eat. You order and they bring out these delectable treats - warm and chewy on the inside and with the powered sugar on the top yum.
Jihad Ashtawy
This was exactly what you would expect of a New Orleans eatery. Fast service, freshly made goods, and a personal touch on fan favorites.
I had the Jambalaya and it was delicious. They didn't skimp on the meat which was nice (I hate when people fluff it up with extra rice so it looks like you are getting more)
The beignet was plump and served very fresh (too hot to handle immediately) so be careful! Once cooled they were very delectable.
Taylor Gillenwater
Amazing food and lovely vibe. First meal in New Orleans!
Orianna Snook
The five stars are for the beignets for two reasons. The atmosphere was Café perfection and the beignets were served well shaped, fresh and hot unlike Café Du Monde which served burnt, crumpled, and luke warm shoved in a bag.
The omelette was very good, as well as the eggs. The grits needed butter and the americano needed a stronger shot of espresso. The staff was bright and cheery. See you again soon!
John Chen
Came here on a Saturday morning around 10am and it wasn't too crowded at first. I was able to order an order of beignets and the gumbo and luckily got a seat within a minute (the restaurant got packed immediately after I sat down).
First the gumbo; it's ok, it wasn't the worst, but far from the best. I don't think the portion or flavor matches the value you pay for it, but it did have quite a bit of meat in it. It came with some tasty bread to dip and a large scoop of rice in it. It filled me up, though, it left a bit to be desired.
The beignets were alright as well. They come in orders of 3 and were warm and covered with some powdered sugar. If you're not a fan of sugar, this is the beignet for you. But if you love sugar, go elsewhere.
The service was quick. When you order something, grab a table ASAP or else you'll be standing around all day. Wouldn't come back.
Nikki
If your in New Orleans you have to try this place . But do her here early due to the line being out the doors . There is also another one around the block if you want live music . But this is one of. My favorite places to sit and have a coffee and breakfast .
Jeff Spicoli
In my humble, recently transplanted opinion this is the best beignet in town. For starters, most days I’m actually able to walk in and be served unlike the other famous beignet place around the way. Golden crispy with the right amount of powder. Comes in orders of 3, I recommend enjoying with a black coffee. An order of beignets and a small drip coffee will run you 8.04$ without tip.
Karol Gawrych
Arguably one of the best places to grab yourself a scrumptious plate of beignets in NOLA. It has my vote for #1 after trying the other top rated restaurants in town. It is in the French quarter and therefore will be packed with tourists, however, the quality is worth the wait here.
Jacqueline Smith
The food was not good. The waffles look good but tasted like cornbread and had the consistency like cornbread. Too much cornmeal. The French toast had too much egg. The grits were watery. And the coffee was just ok. These were my first beignets that I can remember having. They were ok.
Katie Neese
This place is so cute, Beignets here are a must have.
Natalie Acheson
Busy place but beignets came out very fast and we're exceptional! Watch out though they come out hot!!
Kevin Doglio
Great experience. The place is comfortable both inside and out. The staff was friendly and efficient. Check out was quick and easy. The beignets were the best I ever had. I had an eclair too and it was great. Topped it off with a coffee and I must say, I was satisfied. Stop by, it's worth it.
Ritu Tak
If you find yourself wondering if the long queue at cafe de monde is worth it, it’s not. Walk over to cafe Beignet on Royal street. Shorter wait and friendly staff. Coffee was alright. Beignets were better than what I expected them to be, despite them being basically donuts.
Shenice Rutherford-Maxton
The food was probably the best from here than anywhere else in my whole trip. It's a cute little shop and their coffee is so smooth. Their Beignets are the best in New Orleans.
Stephanie Piroli
A beignet from Cafe Beignet was on our New Orleans bucket list- we were not disappointed by it's pleasant staff and fresh food! A bit of a line formed after us, we arrived early so we only waited about 15 min. The 4 of us ordered breakfast and it was delivered hot and fresh to our table within a few minutes.
Kevin Below
The hot chocolate and beignets here are so good. We liked the Beignet here better than Cafe Du Monde but the service was pretty bad. They forgot to make our hot chocolate and our beignets took forever but came out before our hot chocolate. The workers seemed super burnt out and had their heads in their phones checking social media while people were standing waiting in line for their orders. Hoping when we check a different location the service matches the food quality.
Juan Lima
Quiet little cafe with a large patio space which is right next to the police precinct. Beignets are one of the items they sell. There are omelettes and other baked goods available. Take a number and they will bring your purchased items to you.
Alice
The beignets are good but I personally prefer the ones at the other place because they're softer! But the queue is extremely long at the other place so if you just want a quick breakfast, you'll have more luck here :)
Michael Wu
Worth the wait for fresh hot beignets. I personally prefer the beignets from here vs. Cafe Du Monde (a little more dense center). Also I would recommend getting them in a takeout bag...allows you to shake them up in the powdered sugar! Make sure you pair them with an iced coffee or cafe au lait!
Angela Dang
Ate at Cafe Beignets because of the long line at Cafe Du Monte. 3 beignets per order for $3.99. The beignets were big & very good bank for the buck. Line was long but moved quite fast. It tasted like deep fried doughnut. Not too sweet. Overall great experience when visit at New Orleans. Must have & come back daily, no.
shen jiayi
Amazing beignets!!!! Enjoy when they are hot!
Jonathan Kehring
This was one of the places we were told to try because of their beignets...The dish that I actually tried first was their Jambalaya. A little pricey @ $9.99. I was impressed, it was delicious and couldn't believe that a Cafe could produce something this good. Second, I tried the beignets, to be honest the only good thing about them was the powdered sugar. I wish they would add some type of filling inside the bread part. That would really make them much better. I definitely recommend giving them a try. You won't be disappointed.
Eleftherios Zisis
A not so cozy place for tasting the famous beignets, which I have to admit that I found a little overrated.
It's always packed with people due to its popularity so be prepared to wait in line for quite some time. If you are lucky enough to find a table you might enjoy their products sitting down.
Apart from beignets, there are many options for breakfast and my favourite one was the breakfast croissant which was a croissant with a whole omelette inside wrapped around bits of bacon. If you like ham, the Royal croissant is great (although the accompanying salad is a bit pointless)
Overall, I think it worths trying the place out when in New Orleans.
Mark Graves
I would recommend this place over Cafe du Monde. In addition to coffee and beignets, they have pastry and breakfast choices. Had a very good mushroom omelette. Although busy, the staff was extremely friendly. I recommend getting there early in the morning.
Dayana Couso
The food was really good, and the best beignets I had in NOLA! The place is cute but really small, the line get super long past the door! If you want to sit inside, make sure to grab the first table you see available.
Jordan Neuhaus
My wife and I were in New Orleans for much needed vacation. We stopped here for beignets and coffee. We found that the beignets had just the right amount of sugar and that the iced coffee was nice and refreshing. We would both come back here.
Cat A
Went with my sister on our last day in NOLA. We went early to avoid the lines we kept hearing about. But there was no wait. They had quick service and the coffee was good. The beignet were good as well a little small compared to another place we had gone but good none the less. Nice outdoor area very close to Jackson sq where you can hear some musicians. They had some nice shops as well and it was within walking distance to the French market. This is a cash only place.
Majed Alashari
Beignets here is way better & delicious then Cafe du Monde. Their coffee is strong. Long queue but is move quickly. Sitting on the garden is nice.
Liestiyany Hermawaty-Gunawan
Great location and super cute place, that's all I can say, sorry. Their beignet is too solid, not soft as Cafe Du Monde, their omelette...hmmm I can make way so much better omelette, mine is actually the best, now the coffee, hmmmm...was a okay just because I needed coffee in the am. Price a bit higher that Cafe Du Monde.
Harry Choi
A quaint place with a variety of baked goods. Of course, I had the beignet - they make them fresh to order. It was fluffy and chewy and not too sweet. It wasn't greasy either!
I'm personally not the biggest fan of beignets but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate it. You definitely have to try it if you're in NOLA just to say you did!
Ryan Rockmore
You have one choice to make: Do you want a cakey/doughy beignet or light and fluffy? If you want the former, then Cafe Beignet is the way to go. Small ambience with an outdoor patio makes this place indoor and cozy or outdoor and COVID free. They’re not open in the evening, so be sure to make this your morning spot. They also have a wide variety of breakfast options, so the beignet can stand alone or be the cherry on top to a delicious meal.
Vanessa D
Came here to compare the beignets to those from Cafe du Monde. Here the beignets were a bit lighter and did not have as much confectioners sugar on top... but still a very healthy dose. With that said they were delicious! They also offer a more flavors of cafe au lait.... caramel, vanilla, hazelnut, mocha, etc.
This cafe also offers an array of dishes such as salads and sandwiches, so you can come here for a full meal.
Rukiya Andrews
The best beignets in New Orleans. The lines are usually long so pack your patience. One bite is worth the wait. Tables turned over pretty quick so dont worry you will find a spot to sit. There is sitting inside and outside of the restuarant. From ordering to deliver at your tables it's about 10 min. The only thing about this last visit I would say the grits on the veggie omelette dish were rushed and not cooked throughly but the omelette was good. Beignets and black coffee together are a match. DELICIOUS DELICIOUS DELICIOUS. Thanks Nola
Ashley James
This place was so absolutely adorable. Literally my only criticism, if you're dining in, is that the guy changing the coffee grounds on the espresso machine would bang the portafilter really hard and it startled me every single time. That's it, EVERYTHING else was perfect. The coffee is good and fresh and hot and strong. The BEIGNETS!!!!! They're soft and warm and light and fluffy and doughy and sweet. I haven't been to Cafe Du Monde (because I never carry cash) but you cannot go wrong here. The locale is adorable and they have a whole breakfast menu besides. I'll be making this place my go to.
Aleea Eick
Line was nearly out the door around 9 AM on a Friday morning. Luckily, it moved pretty quick, but finding a table to sit was a bit of a challenge (we sat at a table outside on the sidewalk)
Beignets were pretty good, the other breakfast entrée we ordered was just okay. A good place to stop for beignets in the French Quarter
Leonard Rosenfield
The line goes pretty fast but best to have one in your party grab and hold an empty table when one opens up. The beignets are light, airy and delicious (compared to a heavier version at Cafe Du Monde that is). The mufaletta was tasty and the Decatur Club too. Oh, and the chocolate milk was delicious. They have a few locations - all are recommended by us!
AquaScapegoat
A staple experience if there ever was one. On top of the delicious beignets I ordered a breakfast special and was very happy.
K M
These beignets are amazing! They were so good that we came back 2 more times before our trip was over. The beignets were so fresh, they were almost too hot to touch and had steam coming out (leaps and bounds better than Cafe Du Monde!) All employees were helpful and friendly. Will definitely come back the next time we are in town.
Rob Morrow
Great spot to visit around Bourbon Street. Much faster than Cafe Du Monde. It's mostly self service. Employees were pretty friendly, restaurant was pretty clean despite the age. Food was good.
Wendy Hiller
If the line is too long at Cafe du Monde head down the street to Cafe Beignet. A little slice of New Orleans heaven. The beignets here are delicious. Crispy outside and soft inside just like God intended. The veggie omelet was simple but delicious. My sister got the jambalaya and she liked it.
klnhmb
Beautifully fresh Beignets made on site. Live music and cosy atmosphere on a Saturday night. Was a welcome stop to escape the chaos outside. The staff were great. My hubby’s only complaint was that the coffee wasn’t strong enough (even with 2 shots) but I don’t like a strong brew so I found it smooth and easy to drink. Worth the stop. Family friendly and outside sitting available.
Jeffrey Love
Grabbed a couple sandwiches here for lunch. A ham and cheese on croissant, and a muffaletta. Not bad, but not off the charts. The beignets looked amazing, though we resisted. Great coffee though!
efrain quiroz
Delicious place a must try for breakfast so good and tasty. You have to get the signature dish so good makes you want to get back in the line to buy more. Make sure you go early or you will be in a very long line for a while. You will also enjoy some free music.
Evgeniia Guliaeva
This place is so nice and cozy. We came there after 6pm and didn’t wait in the line to get our order. Beignets are super fresh and hot. Loved them!
A nice addition to the atmosphere of the place was a musician who played our favorite tunes. We heard him playing every evening when we were passing by the cafe every evening.
Andrew Kish
A nice little cafe off the beaten path with excellent Beignets and breakfast food. Also, they have a nice little Courtyard if the weather is nice to sit out with a lot of the plants and beautiful surrounding area.
Kris Sands
The Beignets are wonderful but the other pastries are good also. There is usually a line but they keep it moving smoothly
Little Jones Journey
love the beignets here! with this cold weather, its better to pair it with their coffees. when i went there its not packed at all, and its mardi gras. one of the best beignets in town
Devin Beals
Omg! The reviews did not disappoint on here! Definitely worth checking out! And the Beignet's.... I wish I could have taken some home with me for later!
brian anderson
Awesome little cafe that doesn't have the standard Du Monde line. The cafe au lait was excellent, the beignets were a bit too thick, but still good, and the staff and service was outstanding. If you're looking for the quintessential Nola cafe, this is it.
malcolm curry
Amazing beignets and great coffee.
You Must try beignets if you visit NOLA and this is definitely the place to enjoy them.
Just a little tip, shake the bag too get that powdered sugar all over those delicious treats.
Tabbatha Lagares
Love this cute cafe with antique chairs and tables. Food beignets and coffee vanilla latte are so good. Service is really nice. And it wasn’t very touristy
Thomas S.
The line was initially long, but it moved rather quickly. The service was fairly prompt and courteous. The beignet was tasty, to me, once I dunked it in my coffee.
1 hot chocolate, 1 coffee, and 1 order of beignet set us back $9.00 + another $2.00 for the tip.
Cash only!
Michal Brichacek
Cute little cafe serving famous New Orleans beignets. The beignets themselves are good, but definitely overrated in my opinion. I personally liked the beignets at Cafe du Monde more, but enjoyed the decor and atmosphere more at Cafe Beignet.
Sheila Rodriguez
We had a wonderful experience with the bartender named Cap. He was the best bartender by far that I have ever came encounter with. He knew his liquor that’s for sure. And the waiter named Joe he was so courteous ,helpful ,and had so much patience with us! These two gentlemen would be the reason for us to come back their service was GREAT!
Laura Carmer
The breakfast sandwich was very good and the beingets were large and delicious. Very reasonably priced. 3.99 for 3. Super cute decor and easy to get to. Close to the Nanchez and gray line cruise line and when we went (around 8) the line was short and the wait for the food was about 10ish minutes. We got 2 sandwiches and an order of beignets.
Jennie Tillery
Loved the Beignets! They are bigger than the ones served at Cafe du Monde. Loved the atmosphere at this one too!!!
Tony Alvarado
Cafe Beignet in Royal is definitely an amazing little place to spend a quiet moment having breakfast. Every single one of the breakfast options was amazing, and while it can be a little cramped on the inside, there is a portion of the restaurant that is outside, though with the current heat I'd bot recommend that. What I can recommend however are the beignets. Perfect little pieces of heaven!
Trisha Rose
This one on royal Street is the place to go! Had the pecan waffles and the beignets, of course. I also had a coffee and it didn't disappoint either. It gets very busy so show up early! We went around 8 and there was still a line.
Maniko Barthelemy
I went only for beignets and a praline latte. However, I am SOOOOOO happy I saw and bought crawfish and grits! Order it! Also, the praline latte with an extra shot is worth every penny!!!
Kenya P
When in Nola.. you have to try Beignets... its only right. Very nice place. Seated quickly... they serve breakfast ALL DAY.. had the mushroom omelette. So good. My food came with a side of grits and a french toast toppef with butter and thyme(i think) it was toasted to sheer perfection. Good food. Nice environment... the beignets now were soft, fluffy and the perfect amount of sugar.... what a way to start the day in Nola.
Ashish Singh
Cafe Beignet was on our list of restaurants to try. We were not disappointed. Be prepared to wait in a long line of the weather is good. If you hate lines, go when it's raining, that's what we did.
Steven Dykeman
My wife and I had to try the hickory coffee and beignet while in New Orleans. Both are good. Also the muffins are great. Nice quaint shop with friendly service.
lolive lolive
We liked this location with the cute patio sitting. Beignets and café au lait are good, and the service is super friendly too.
Robert Sisson
Pleasant, quaint, seating inside and out. Fantastic food.
Saravanan Ram
The beignets tasted similar to cafe de mundo but were a bit pricier than the later. Food service was excellent. They played Jazz entire evening. Whst else you need other than music n beignets n sipping your favorite cup of coffee!
Cathy Padilla
Yes, it's crowded BUT once you order, the wait is both reasonable and well worth it. We had the crawfish omelet and an order of bigness. Everything was freshly made and delicious. We stayed at the Omni Hotel Royal and it was about a five minute walk.
RJ VT
Skip the cajun hash browns and scrambled eggs. Go directly for the beignets. It made the twenty minute walk worth it. The lines are long but the service is quick and pleasant.
Shastri Babb
The cafe was so inviting and well designed/decorated but the food just did not deliver. I was pretty disappointed. My hash tasted like the potatoes were made a few hours prior and just reheated. No crisp or crunch to them at all. I also couldn’t find the cheese on my eggs. I ate some of my girlfriend’s eggs and those were fresh and hot though. Decent chai as well but those potatoes... please do something about them.
Parth Malhotra
Fantastic Beignets and Coffee ! The beignets are just as good (if not better!) than Cafe Du Monde.
P.S. - Don’t be disheartened by the long line! It moves quickly.
Justin Ashley
Out of all the Cafe Beignets we went to...this one was the BEST. Great staff! They were super upbeat and in great moods despite the rush and heat! Them beautifully powdered beignets hit my soul. I lost and regained religion while eating them. So good. Do yourself a flavor favor and hit this location up!
Sound Buryer Music
Excellent laid back atmosphere. Gotta have your Vaccine card to get in. Got outside seating which was perfect for Me and my partner Dr. K (Dauphin Street Stompers) to play trumpet and Banjo outside of here while people at Beignets.
Tim Burrows
Fantastic spot for food and listening to street performers playing jazz. The Beignets and coffee are way better than the other NOLA spot people go to. Great breakfast menu and desserts that are fantastic!!
Travis Sawyer
Beignet's are more on the crispy side, but they're good and so is the coffee. When we went there was a guy playing guitar and he was killing it. It was probably one of the better places to relax and get off the busy streets.
Kelsey Ellis
The beignets are amazing! Covered in powered sugar and fluffy, airy and sweet! There are several locations in the French quarter including one on Canal street!
I would for sure recommend trying some while in NOLA. While I can’t compare to the famous Cafe Dumont due to line being to long, I can say they are the best I have had so far!
With the line being shorter due to more locations then Cafe Dumont is easier for you to try this NOLA staple.
Now the other food was hit or miss. I got the chicken salad croissant and it was ok. You could tell the chicken salad was fresh but not a lot of flavor. My boyfriend got the traditional breakfast and was very disappointed.
The ice coffee was amazing but that’s what I expected with coffee being a NOLA staple and the Bloody Mary was perfect for morning recovery.
I would recommend trying this place out if your in the area!
Leslie Vera
Great little Cafe, with plenty of seating. Beignets were amazing as was the cooked breakfast. Great prices, great food, and friendly staff. If i could eat this everyday for the rest of my life.... I would. It's the one thing I am going to miss about New Orleans.
Iñ •Błoöm•
Walked here for breakfast and coffee every morning during our stay. The food was delicious and the iced coffee too! The chocolate drizzled beignets were my favorite and the Iced Cafe Mocha. Line was long but wait wasn’t too bad. And the food didn’t take too long to arrive.
Manny Salazar
My first time and was amazing. Has a cozy ambiance. Food was delicious. Beignets are my standard now. And you can get Mmm-mimosas! Great Team!
Izabel Alvarenga
It was the best breakfast we had in the French Quarter and the best Beignet by far! It has a nice ambiance, good price, and I really liked the veggie omelet. If you go in the morning I would suggest you to GO EARLY. We arrived 8:30 and there was already a line, so THE WAITING TIME CAN BE LONG.
Nadia Sobhan
Best location of them all, I think. Lovely setting and the beignet's were to die for! The café au lait was also delicious. Can't wait to visit again someday.
Dee Deigh
I enjoyed the sausage omelet and beignet I ordered for breakfast. The sausage omelet came with a small piece of toast and grits. Didn't care much for the grits but the toast was good when paired with the omelet. Also ordered the White chocolate au lait. The sitting was very cramped up but the food was good.
Shira T
Classic beignets are the best beignets. Don't be fooled by the line, it moves quickly.
Gabrielle Smith
5 stars for atmosphere but coffee & food was mediocre at best. Inside and patio is really cute with a chill vibe away from all the craziness of Bourbon street and such. But after waiting in a semi-long line the iced vanilla latte was overly sweet and artificial tasting, and the jambalaya rice was mushy and overall not great.
Holly Hernandez
Lines are long but TOTALLY worth the short time waiting. Quick service. And the food is awesome!
Lenny Sutrisno
The beignets here are pretty good! They make them fresh so they're hot and ready for you. There is loads of powdered sugar so be careful when eating them!
Luis Madrigal
Excellent beignets for the cost. Nice sized easily satisfied two people! Excellent coffee as well with friendly staff. Be prepared to wait, it gets busy on the weekends!
Tekia
So this is my second visit to New Orleans, and I’ve been to a lot of the must go places. Any person you ask will say that you have to get the famous Beignets from Cafe Du Monde which I have tried, but to me I think that Cafe Beignet is really special when it comes to beignets. The beignets at Cafe Beignet are light and airy if that makes sense. They have a great texture that can only be described by going to get one. I recommend anyone that is looking for nice treat to give this place a chance.
I believe there are three location which include Bourbon street. The cafe is not super busy and fast with service. The decor is so cute and French inspired. I think my mouth loves the Beignets more than my waste, but hey that’s what the gym is for. Awesome is the only word that I can think of for Cafe Beignet!
Craig Reeves
Got up early in a Saturday so practically no one was there. We loved the environment. Beignets are a little more expensive than Du Monde, but we liked them slightly more and the peaceful morning was worth it.
David Hong
More stars because of the atmosphere. There are always musicians playing for you. The cafe vibe is incredible. I came in to have a beignet and it was Ok. Still you come here for the outdoor patio and music!
Katelyn Smith
Super friendly staff! Had the Ham and Cheese omelet. It comes with toasted bread and grits. Was devious! Atmosphere is quaint and vintage. Beigents were fresh and awesome. Will be coming again!!
Jennifer O
Beignets and chicory coffee were really good, the breakfast sandwich was hot and delicious. I ordered cajun hash browns and the scrambled eggs were good, but potatoes were ice cold.
Cardero Jefferson
I vote this place over Cafe Du Monde hands down any day!!!! The customer service was pleasant and the atmosphere was relaxing. The beignets we light and airy not doughy and greasy like Cafe Du Monde.
Michael Fil
Worth the wait in line (it moved quickly).
If you're here for beignets, you'll get a number and someone will bring your order out quickly straight from the kitchen. Drinks can be had immediately.
The beignets are scrumptious; deep fried, but not oily, covered in powdered sugar. They're not aggressively sweet like I expected.
And the price is right at $3.99 for three large beignets.
They have serveral locations, but this one has live music and is a short walk away from Canal Street.
WoodenRoller
Really liked this after the terrible beignets at CDM. The beignets here were a saving grace, light and fluffy inside while crisp outside. Probably the largest beignets around too, and cheaper! The decor of the cafe is cute too, a little retro and with live music. Staff are also friendly.
Jamie Epperson Suran
SO delicious. Got lots of yummy breakfast items, beignets and coffee!
P K
Muffaletta was great, and staff were fine. Beautiful vegetation and courtyard on the street and inside. Right by the police station Need some pest control though, don't feed the animals...
George Robinson
Amazing beignets, we visit the Quarter annually, last year the lines at both Cafe Du Monde and Cafe Beignets were crazy long so obviously no Beignets on that trip.
This year however we got to experience both and without a doubt, from 3 people who have never had Beignets, Cafe Beignet is the clear winner, no we're not judging for everyone just our personal experience, the size the texture and the taste were amazing, add that to the omelet and great personal service and you undoubtedly have the best of New Orleans right on Royal Street.
Great French Quarter hospitality and amazing taste.
We'll definitely be back next year.
Thank you for a unforgettable experience.
Mike Willis
Small, crowded, and yet charming and cozy. I prefer it to Cafe du Monde. Breakfast was average but the pastries are delish!
Gio Stabs
To be honest, I would have given it 4 stars if not for the hype, the wait, and the price! An iced coffee, beignets and turtle (chocolate) cost $13! It also took 25 minutes, from the long line to the long wait for the beignets. Everything was good, but nothing to write home about. Fried dough with a lot of powdered sugar on it.
David
Very good spot for a taste of NOLA . From individual pecan pies to beignets and breakfast menu this place is a must stop. Less commercialized than Cafe Du Monde and better too in my opinion. Sit inside or in the courtyard area. I recommend the Royal Street location. You wont be dissapointed.
Grant Chun
I actually liked the beignet here more than Cafe Du Monde. But I think that's a matter of preference in style more than anything. Cafe du Monde was more flaky, airy, light. It's quite good, don't get me wrong; I'd certainly recommend people to try that spot. But I prefer one that's more doughy with not too much powdered sugar. And that's Cafe Beignet on Royal Street for me.
曾宇瑄
I like the Beignet texture! Not too sweet, plus the size was very big compare to the one of Cafe Du Monde
Diana Nguyen
Great crispy beignets, cute little cafe located in the FQ.
Tropicality
I absolutely love this place! Their food is sooooo good! I’ll definitely be heading back here!
Lavinia Lo
These beignets are amazing!!! Great breakfast! We arrived early on a Friday morning but it gets crowded just after 8am! Waffles with pecans are really delicious too!
Dean Stafano
Tasty omelette breakfast, good coffee, and nice beignet - a bit heavy but very good. The New Orleans/French look and feel is true to form!
Marilyn Schey
The music was wonderful! The beignets were fresh.. very fresh... 3rd degree burn to your lip fresh. Remember, no matter how good they look, how long you have been wanting them or how hungry you are... wait for them to cool just a little longer... take my word for it. And don't inhale while biting.... take my word for that too.
Marissa Sarnacki
Cute little beignet restaurant that likes to over fry and under sugar their beignet. However since their line isn't crazy long like a certain French Quarter beignet cafe, you can get your food and still have the rest of the day to blunder about.
Pamela Schreurs
Beignets were great!
almaherman_ fit
4 stars just because the food is pricey but the beignets are AMAZING and they have espresso coffee❤️ I will go here again before I leave NOLA!
Yoslen
Beautiful place, the lady that took our order, (short lady, black hair, really young) she completely got our order wrong and not just ours but the person in front of us as well, when they gave if the food and we told her but she kind of got upset. Beautiful place, food was okay but service.... they need someone that can handle the amount of customers that they have.
Joel Sink
Delightful place to grab coffee, beignet or more. Great atmosphere here with a beautiful courtyard. Service was good and the food was awesome.
Tim Richardson
I had the crawfish omelette with a double espresso and three powdered sugar beignets for breakfast.
Our stay was quite an adventure of barhopping, drinking, interacting with the locals and walking around the French quarter and we didn’t get back to the hotel until about 2 AM.
But I love most about the café is the fresh air, open door atmosphere where the sights, sounds, smells and the total flavor of the French quarter come in through the front door and vice versa.
There is a all-time player piano mounted on a pedestal which recycles Louis Armstrong "It’s a Wonderful Life“ as well as other vintage, New Orleans tunes.
I can only imagine being an employee working at Café beignet that this must get a little tiresome but it was a fantastic way to kick off the day and set the mood for another day in the big easy!
Chris H.
Yummy option for ice coffee and beignets I found walkable from my French Quarter hotel. A single order is easily shared with 2-3 people. Sit outside on the nice patio, but don't leave your food for cats or birds to steal. 😳 …
Betts Kelow Family
Great Service, Great Food! It gets really crowded because it's such a great atmosphere. But the staff there work great at making sure everyone gets serviced and gets a place to sit swiftly and efficiently. It was six of us with kids and we all loved the food and the atmosphere!
Aharon
The carrot cake was the best i ever had
faridah freda
Went there in the evening. There was a man playing tunes on his guitar which is very nice. Had cafe au lait and beignets. The cafe was not busy, which was nice. The beignets were very tasty. We had to clean our own table though but that was ok. Along Royal street there were many little antique shops too but most were close by the time we walked there which was close to 9pm.
Rocky K
Great beignets, more variety than Cafe du Monde, less busy, and more accessible in the Bourbon Street area. Beignets are more different than inferior to Cafe du Monde in my eyes.

We absolutely loved this place!!!! The atmosphere was amazing and the coffee and beignets were delicious!!!!! We will Definately come back here!!!
Todd Atwell
Really enjoyed the espresso, carrot cake and beignets. Nice place to relax.
Rich McCoy
Excellent food, quick line, and all at a good price! The Beignets were delicious!!
Racheal Gelacek
I had the breakfast sandwich on a bagel with Chai tea latte, was delicious, well made, and done quickly
Lauren
I was obsessed with the ceiling! The food is great especially beignets! A little loud when trying to order but that was easily overlooked. Food came out very quickly
jason molidor
Good beignets. Decent French quarter alternative to cafe du monde. One big plus is that they have a regular breakfast menu. We were a little hung over, a typical problem if you're staying in the French quarter and we popped down to get a quick breakfast. I love the small thin omelettes they do there. Very greasy spoon style. The grits were t my favorite. Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo of the beignets. There were good though.
Jim Riley
According to my wife, the beignets were delicious. If you like fried biscuits covered with powdered sugar, the you'll like them as well.
Jaime Hawkins
So, so good! The building, the cute tables, the great coffee and beignets were all perfect for our NOLA trip! Highly recommend!
melanie buhay
Beignets were fresh, coffee was decent. The live music is nice. Try to go when it's not so busy so you have a better chance at grabbing a table.
Halo_B81
Super cute cafe!! Delicious Beignets and the Muffalatta sandwich was so good!!
Kate Powers
Love this place. The beignets are amaze and the café au lait is on point. Highly recommend!
Marlyn Soto
Very nice café and delicious warm beignet
Pam Lowe
Beignet was delicious 😋 service friendly and kind. Great atmosphere
Yifan Dong
Great little place with a very cute yard. We weren’t sure if we could bring our furry baby inside but the waitress were super friendly and even brought out a water bowl for her! Food was quick and delicious- we ordered jambalaya, muffalette, and beignet which were all great, no too salty or greasy, very refreshing and perfect for a lunch break after a long walk in the district.
M K
Great beignet and even cuter location. Get the beignets obviously which are fresh hot and the order comes with 2. Also had an iced americano which was perfect.
Tiago Pacheco
Great staff, awesome patio, their crawfish omelette was so freaking good. I gotta come back just for that omelette....oh, and yes the beignettes were awesome!
Ezekiel Waisel
Worth waiting in line for dining. Chai latte and food was delicious. Definitely get beignets with chocolate sauce and enjoy!
Jessica Davis
Visiting from Georgia. Beignets and cafe au lait were good! A little bit of a wait, but not bad. A must when visiting NOLA.
Joseph Krencik
food - 5 stars
atmosphere - 5 stars
service - 5 stars
price - 5 stars
Victoria Holloway
Really yummy breakfast. Great place to buy gifts too.
Gwen Inman
The food is delicious and the line moves very quickly. The tables turn over pretty fast so even my group of four was able to find somewhere to sit with ease. The light tropicality is a good touch, as are the hand-painted tile tables. A great stop on my trip to NOLA
Veronica Sanchez
I like this place better then the other Cafe it have live music .the beignets are more tasty ,cofe very good. Serve food and got jambalaya the taste was ok, not to great but has a flavor that can not stop eating. I recommend highly. closes at 10pm but worth it.
Phoenix Rises
Amazing service! First time having beignets and they were so good and fresh. They have a really nice vibe and environment.
P Lem
You get the large beignet. Made while you wait. Have to eat them when they are freshly made. Once cool, it's crusty.
Aatiyah Reid
Nice breakfast place, beignet’s are just okay. Beautiful small cafe, I felt like I was in France.
Heather Craytor
Cafe Beignet is a cozy spot nestled among art galleries on Royal, just next to the police station. My friend had French toast, and I had an andouille omelet. We both felt that the food was good but not amazing. The beignets were great, though! Still warm by the time we finished our breakfast dishes and the perfect texture. The prices are pretty reasonable for the Quarter, $8 to $10 a plate. There are other breakfast spots in NOLA that I would recommend before Cafe Beignet, but I'd definitely stop by for beignets and a coffee again.
Erik Jacobson
Food was decent, but not all that different from what you could make at home, given similar ingredients. Portion size was on the small side. Expect to wait in line.
L Wolfe
Split the Cajun hash brown platter simple and delicious great ice coffee too
Saw a lot of people enjoying the beignets cute spot to go to when you don't wana wait online 2hours for cafe du monde and a few tables outdoors to sit
rachel simpson
A fun little cafe/beignet shop to drop in for eats. Has a nice shaded patio area. A little less busy/ straight up touristy than cafe du monde.
Matthew Miller
Not my favorite beignets around and mediocre coffee but usually less crowded. Once you order wait near by our they will give someone else your food. They aren't too good at knowing the order it should go on. Need some work on organization.
Silvia Märkli García
Great place for beignets in New Orleans! It's usually crowded...some line to wait, but it is totally worth it!! So tasty!!
Isabelle Hernandez
Delicious Beinets and great coffee! Great service with nice patio and indoor seating area. Arrive early we got there at 10am and the line quickly reached outside.
Taylor Godbey
The best beignets in town! Coffee was delicious and there's a little garden area to sit and enjoy. You will be waiting in line though! For food and seating but it's worth it.
Kessashun Arthur
This is a nice little shop to grab some coffee, breakfast, or most importantly: beignets. These beignets are freshly-made, thick, and fluffy with a nice crunch on the exterior. Perfect texture! This location has indoor and outdoor seating, and there was live music from a very entertaining guitarist when I visited on a Friday evening. I'd certainly recommend giving Cafe Beignet a try for some authentic, southern beignets!
Crissy Bushman
I prefer these Beignets over the others in the quarter, including the oldest in the fq. It's interior is like you are on the World famous streetcars! They also serve sandwiches and other baked goods. It's not just a beignet shop!
My only complaint is that when they are busy, it's pretty chaotic and so loud. Maybe the shape of the ceiling has something to do with that??! Very kid friendly and the staff is very nice!
Callie Turpin
Cafe Beignet was great but I would have to admit that Du Mondes had the superior beignets. Both were amazing though. You won't be sorry if you try either!
Ashley Broussard
We ordered our food and waited outside at a table on a cute little patio. The food was delicious, the wait was short, and the outdoor tables were perfect!
Alfonso Batres
Tasty sandwich, great red beans and rice. Best beignet in New Orleans. Lively atmosphere.
Jessbcreative
Delicious food, wonderful staff, amazing music and all around the best atmosphere for brunch and dinner around. Very clean as well. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
Matthew Adjemian
This place seemed much nicer than the one on Bourbon St, albeit a little smaller. There was lots of outdoor seating and they were totally OK with us having our little dog with us at the outdoor tables. Better beignets than Cafe du Monde AND dog friendly.
alexia lewis
We LOVED cafe beignet. Got the gumbo & Jambalaya and split it and of course got beignets and they were all great.
Anu Potnis
Great place for your morning coffee and beignet. You get 3 warm beignet in one order sprinkled with powdered sugar! Delicious soft and fluffy. Very good Praline.Good for breakfast.
deirdre kamber todd
Now I know why the beignets are so beloved. Sitting outside, listening to live jazz, and eating breakfast, it was a perfect New Orleans intro! The beignets and coffee options were wonderful. The only drawback was it was a very limited menu and not by much of hot breakfast.
Candy
We had the beignets and they were really good and fresh. The staff so super friendly, the atmosphere in there is nice, the place is clean, the prices and menu items are visible
A Hamilton
Hands down the best beignet and I had 4 different locations of du monde but I believe these were the best I'f I ever go back to new Orleans I will definitely be back
Anna Nicole Ureta
(Visited Jan 12/17 - Late Evening)
Much smaller than Café Du Monde but a much calmer environment.
Much easier to have a conversation and relax.
Live Jazz was great even late into the night.
Maybe because we came late it took a while to bring out our beignets so that's fine.
Again, I don't know if it's because we got the evening staff, but in comparison to Café Du Monde's beignets these were more firm, less doughy and had a harder shell. Still delicious and fresh.
Chris Maranda
Cafe Beignet or Café du Monde?
Interesting question. I personally prefer the one with the smallest waiting line when I get there, which is usually Cafe Beignet.
brochas Kelley
My first beignet experience and it is a pillow of heaven served warm and covered in powdered sugar. I went back twice.
Eduardo Ramirez
Cafe Au Lait was lukewarm, not hot. Unforgivable. Beignets were OK. Go here just to fulfill the tourist experience. Better (and cheaper) coffee can be found elsewhere.
Meghan Murphy
Beignets of course are delicious.
The omelet was ok. Veggies were undercooked & not much flavor
Che tana
Charming locale-from the mural and chandeliers on the ceiling to the black and white checkerboard tiles. Coffee ($3), side of eggs ($4), and of course beignets ($4). Accidentally timed it well, by the time I finished standing in line to order a table with a view opened up. Place is jam packed and no wonder. Super friendly staff (and I'm nitpicky), rich coffee and tasty beignets. Will I come back? If at all possible.
Dydee Q
Best grits I've had in years. My only complaint is price vs portion sizes. We were still hungry.
Kate Sturges
Beignets were good, not dissimilar from a funnel cake. Thicker than the usual but good
Nancy Bravo
They have lots of food options other than beignets and cafe au lait of you are hungry. Great spot to stop and cool off mid day with their iced au laits, which seem like the most popular option on a hot New Orleans afternoon.
angel torres-carmona
Traditional beignet, great coffee, good breakfast, a bit saturated since it's a cliche visit but for bfast is one of many options.
Drea Lilundra
Beignets were delicious. Customer service was very nice from the time we entered until the time we left. Good iced coffee also
shai shani
When visiting New Orleans, it's a must for fresh and tasty Beignet.
T McLain
The line was to the door, but that just let me know I must be at the right place. Excellent beignets! I also had a crawfish omelet...this was a first for me but quite yummy!!! It has a nice courtyard with extra seating; it was just too cold that day. The view from the window was of the two giant pet cats that belong to the restaurant. So sweet!
Brian Won
Smaller and more welcoming than the big Cafe du Monde located down the street.
Beignets are a bit slow to come out as they're cooked to order, and it's the French Quarter so prices are a little higher. But they're delicious!
Shawn Clem
Food was excellent and staff were lovely
Andrew Jordan
We compared Cafe Du Monde’s and Cafe Beignet’s two times each and Cafe Beignet was the clear winner. There is more of a crunch on the outside, but soft and chewy on the inside. Just amazing! This spot had a really nice shaded outdoor patio. It wasn’t as large as the patio at the location on Bourbon, but it is very nice. The staff was also very patient and kind.
Kovas Palubinskas
Very cute cafe with a great courtyard for hanging outdoors. Decent coffee, really tasty beignets, served by very friendly staff.
Raven Davis
Rating this place based on atmosphere and “low key-ness”. Staff was super nice and I got beignets without having to wait in a line that wrapped around the corner. Mimosas were also good.
E J
This place was crowded when we got here. You will be lucky to find a seat to eat your meal. To be honest, there was nothing special about the food but it was alright.
Sushmitha Rao
Loved every bit of the Beignets. Cafè au Lait is delicious. Small and pretty outdoors overlooking amazing canopies. Best place for breakfast.
Would love to visit again.
John Palmieri
Nice little coffee joint and nice place to hang out. The beignets are super great. Fresh and hot out of the fryer, you can come just for those! Now let's talk about the coffee for a minute. Cafe au lait is the brew here and it's different than a latte - they're made with New Orleans style chicory coffee. This isn't a criticism, just information. A bit too much milk for me and no foam, but hey, they have espresso and cappuccino for coffee snobs like me:)
Dionne Ashley
Great vibe, live jazz, colorful crowd. The mushroom omelet, beignets, and coffee were all excellent. As a tourist (and I suspect the locals would agree), I would highly recommend this location for a great NOLA dining experience!
As a bonus/side note, I’m not sure if they serve breakfast all day, but I was able to order from the breakfast menu at noon on a Saturday.
Charlene Vermillion
The breakfast sandwich was very tasty...but the beignets were the best !!! We stopped overnight in New Orleans just to check it out and it was well worth the time. Recommend this place above all others 😊
Andra Carpino
Delicious coffee, omelets and of course, the beignets were awesome! Open nice and early too!
David Owen
Great place for beignets - and they have a full menu. The tiny birds are fun to watch.
Mikey
The coffee was very tasty and the beignets were fresh. Friendly staff and the place was clean as well. A very comfy little cafe that has live music. It definitely personifies a little corner of New Orleans.
Dan McCarthy
We got breakfast here and I could have paid the same at a big name diner but it wouldn't have been anywhere near as good. If your looking to start your day with a hearty breakfast go here you won't be disappointed. The only thing I think they need to change is to move the coffee menu over the espresso machine. We were in a line waiting and to speed things up they were taking coffee orders before the register. But the barista would have constantly repeat themselves to every customer the choices because the menu is in the back corner.
Camilo Sandoval
Great place for breakfast. The Beignets are a must. It can get pretty busy in here and service is a little meh. The patio is great but it gets very packed
R R
Good Beignet, but contrary to the reviews I like Café Du Monde’s Beignet better
Anthony Hayward
This place was fun... Food was delish atmosphere was unique and we just loved it... Came back the next day just to visit again
John Deutsch
Best beignets we had in New Orleans.
Jessica Robinson
This place & people are so nice. The food was great. 1st time I had a Beignet it too was wonderful.
Naomi Pena
Beignets and other food was delicious! Worth the hype. This particular location has a very pretty outdoor area where if you’re lucky you can listen to some live jazz from the street
jordan keith
Absolutely perfect glimpse into the New Orleans historic cafe scene. Great coffee and amazing beignets.

This place was so quiet and seemed very set back from everything, despite being in the middle of it all. I was there early in the morning, and the weather was perfect for sitting outside.
The beignets were warm and the tea was brewed wonderfully. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who's looking for a quieter place to enjoy coffee and sugary delight.

My family came to New Orleans for my son's fifth birthday after watching Princess and the Frog. We wanted to taste “Tiana's“ famous beignets, and this place was close to our hotel. The line was long but moved rather quickly. The staff was friendly, and our food was fresh. I ordered the Royal Lemonade (with vodka). It was delicious, the boys got hot chocolate, and of course, we had beignets. Three large pastries come with each order for four bucks.

If you want a real fresh Beignet, get it here. It's made when you order, not waiting in a bag like an asymbly line. This place is friendly and the real deal. Forget about Cafe de Who?
Sam Elliott
Stop what you are doing and get the andouille omelet. It is that good. The beignets are also consistent and perfect.

Second day in New Orleans. Trying this beignet place as it was rated the second best after Cafe Du Monde. The place is a hole in the wall on a tight one way street. Only side paid parking available. Needless to say it's very small but very cozy and welcoming. Definitely ordered beignets along with French toast. Couldn't resist as this place has a lot of French influence. Both of them were scrumptious to say the least. It draws a lot of people and it goes without saying that this place is loved by the locals as well as tourists. Definitely try it. It's totally worth it!👌🏻

Service was quick and beignets were fresh 3 for $5 these beignets were so good I damn near slapped somebody

Glad we got there when we did. There was a long line but it moved along pretty well.

I went first 31 years ago, and liked it, so went back today. The fact that it's still there must say something. The order desk is right at the back, and the line stretched to the street. Busy! Then there was no table. Then there was a looong wait for the food. The food was OK, but a bit on the cool side. My coffee was cold by the time the food arrived.
They have a garden that they seem to rent from the next door police station. All drinks and food is served in and on throw-away plastic, which I didn't like.

Famous spot in New Orleans for a coffee and a beignet. The have soups and sandwiches too. There were alot of people here, mostly tourists like us, but we didn't have to wait very long. The beignets were hot out of the fryer, and covered in powdered sugar. They say these are the best in town. I'm not sure if they originated here, but they were perfected here for sure.

The beignets were great. The coffee ( cafe mocha) was equivalent to hotel coffee with hot chocolate mix. Nothing special. I ordered the Crawfish omelet and my wife ordered the veggie omelet. We both felt like they were okay. Again nothing special. The staff didn't seem to have a handle on who ordered what and looked lost most of the time. Yelling out " who ordered ..?" The place felt cozy. But the line runs through the middle of where everyone sits (unless outside). Which can make for a cramped eating experience. If they rerouted the line to one side that might help the over all congestion.
One last thing. The air vent that's over there counter area where they put your coffee and have food displayed leaks and is pretty filthy.
I would definitely stop in for a beignet to go. But nothing more.

Less busy than Cafe Du Monde and still delicious! Quick service, tasty food, nice location that was close to our hotel on Canal St. Would recommend to a friend lol

Only got beignets and iced coffee. 3 good sized beignets - so tasty piping hot that we ate them right there instead of walking along as we'd planned.
Would've given a full five stars, but I'm a fan of no plastic, especially straws (which are easily replaced with paper straws).
Pleasant enough staff in midday after the morning rush. Very courteous and attentive.

The Beignet was better than advertised. The one thing I had to try when going to New Orleans was a Beignet. Cafe Beignet did not disappoint. I recommend if you are in the area, give this place a try.

Best coffee, omelette and beignets of New Orleans. Love the atmosphere very local and very warm was my stop in the mornings before heading out to explore the city.

Amazing beignets!! The portion size is big and you get more than what you pay for! The lines were long but it went by fast! Highly recommend!
Veronica Berton
Food tasted great! Beignets are yummy!

Good food and coffee but be prepared for a wait after you place an order. Long line around 9a to place an order. Plenty of tables inside and outside in the courtyard and on the street. Order to dine in or take out.

Great Beignet and lovely location. Sat in the patio area and listened to a great trumpeter. Prices are very reasonable and the staff were very friendly.

Order you food first and then sit and wait for food. Yummy 😋 food. Fans make the place so nice and breezy. …

I’m in love with this place. Such a wonderful atmosphere, and the food was so lite and yummy. There was live music while we sat and ate our sandwiches and beignets. It was a place that you wanted to be. I strongly recommend this to anyone who’s in the area.

Great. Best barista coffee we have found in the USA so far. Food was very, very good. We visited 3 times during our stay in New Orleans. Highly recommended.
Teresa
We stopped here during the rain and it was crowded but people come and go so seats open quickly. The beignets came out piping hot and were real fluffy. 10/10 experience

I'm giving this place 5 stars because the beignets and cafe au lait were awesome. The Decatur sammich was pretty good, as well. It's a nice little place on the street. We even got serenaded by a homeless musician, too.

I prefer Cafe Beignet over Cafe Dumonde. I suppose it is a matter of preference. The beignets here are denser. I loved their beignets- they are made fresh and very tasty
There are several locations throughout the city. This is a must go place for me when I return to NOLA.
Vonne
The beignets were worth the wait! I would definitely go back the next time I visit NOLA!!

A splendid treat is to be had in this little cafe situated in the French corridor. The atmosphere/ambience is every bit New Orleans. Only draw back would be the actual beignets themselves left me desiring a little something more. They reminded me of a zepoli from a carnival.
Allison Dougherty
So so so good! Read the mixed reviews on cafe du monde and decided to go here after getting to cafe du monde and seeing that they only took cash and the beignets weren’t fresh(even first thing in the morning). 100% come here instead! Beignets were so good, made fresh and the cafe au lait was just as wonderful.
Scott Plooster
Nice that this place opens at 7AM unlike others. Come early and see a side of NOLA that very few see! Only the wise or the strong are awake-- not often both.
Sabrina Jno-Baptiste
Small charming café but can be a bit chaotic given that you have to seat yourself which means looking around and hoping that a table becomes available.I had a breakfast croissant, which was disappointing. It was oily, falling apart and wasn’t tasty. The beignets were good so would recommend those.
Emma francone
Hot, fresh beignets were delicious! A good portion for a basket- good value. The spiked iced coffee was really delicious and gave me a small buzz- haha! Didnt feel rushed here. Nice customer service. Nice and chill atmosphere with live music. I would come back.
Allie Graff
Soooooo good!! If I lived in New Orleans I would gain so much weight eating these all the time. What a cute place it is too!
Karl Chong
Go here later in the evening when it is quiet. Beignets were just ok, but the coffee and atmosphere was grand. The musician playing at the front of the cafe kept on belting out hot after hit.
Mohamad Ziad Mahfouz
One word ( AMAZING ) no other words can describe this place. Highly recommended!
Aubrey Packer
Went on a Monday around 2:30. No wait. Delicious beignets!
Alexander Vasquez
Super cute. Definitely felt like I was visiting a French cafe. The beignets are better than Cafe Du Monde for sure. And you can get mimosas here.
Vanessa Troupe
Food is great, service is also great. Location is convenient.
Karina Perez
I liked this beignet better than Cafe du Monde. These were really hot and fluffy .
Virginia A.
The beignets were not fluffy in the middle. They were disappointing. We did end up eating there again and this time we ordered the Royal Croissant sandwiches and these were really good. Coffee wasn't great but passable. Sadly its called Cafe Beignet, but that was the least favorite item. The croissant sandwiches were the best menu item we had.

You can never go wrong with a Beignet. Great place for them
