Reviews of Adolfo's
Richard Cardone Blackcat (FeketeMacska)
Absolutely fantastic! This place is a favorite with locals. I had the steak w/ ocean sauce: perfectly done. The marinara is fresh and flavorful, with a hint of basil. My heritage is Italian, and I would unequivocally say good enough for grandma! The Ocean sauce is rich and creamy with depths of flavors. The restaurant itself is charming and very New Orleans. Come here to spend a little time and enjoy yourself; good for special occasions (not for tourists looking for an insipid "Olive Garden" type of experience).

Amazing food. Be ready to wait. Escargot was out of this world. It was my first time having escargot and I was told to not expect it to taste that good anywhere else lol. Everything has amazing sauces that are very well seasoned.

Absolutely delightful food and atmosphere. The service is also phenomenal! Katherine and Chelsea helped us, and are both so nice, accommodating, and welcoming, despite being understaffed and stretched quite thin. We had the stuffed flounder with ocean sauce and the cannelloni with spinach Italian sausage. Both sooooo good. Definitely come here if you’re in the area!

Great Italian food with inspiration from New Orleans. Cozy and creative setting with close-set tables. Quite a small menu, but what's done is done well. Definitely recommended!
Tom Lawson
As some of you may know, Adolfo's does not take reservations. We showed up one Friday night & managed to score the last table. The place was humming with good energy.
Despite the packed house our server was chill and kind (we left her a good tip). For dinner we enjoyed the mussels, cannelloni with crab and corn plus the veal parmesan with a side of fettuccine. Glasses of wine are $6. We enjoyed a copious amount of food plus 2 beer & 4 wine. Grand total $99.
This is simple red sauce Italian cooking. Honest & simple. Nothing fancy. Everyone was having a good time on a Friday night.
Michael Wesely
The food was fantastic and presents just like their online menu. Had the Chicken Vincent and it was delicious. The restaurant is upstairs and seats just about 40 people. I will be back next time in town!
David Catlett
The stuffed flounder is just as good as it was before Adolfo left. Nothings changed. The food is AMAZING!!!

There's really only two simple words to describe Adolfos, AMAZING FOOD! You haven't experienced anything quite like it til you've tried it. Do you love Italian food? Do you love Creole food? Whether or not you like one or the other - or both - you'll certainly leave feeling beyond satisfied.
Jordan Pace
Located in a cool, old brick building in the heart of Frenchmen Street, Adolfo's feels like authentic NOLA, like a meal from mom. Chelsea gave fantastic service and recommendations. Whatever the special is the night you go, order that, especially if it's the rack of lamb with the mint sauce.
The entrance/name reservation process can seem a little informal, but just wait for the host and don't give up. You'll be seated quickly and won't regret your experience.

Cozy 100 year old upstairs Italian restaurant with a New Orleans flair. Come early to be seated, weekends very busy. We went on MLKJrs. bday, lots of room. I tried the Italian sausage, which came with a house salad dressed in Creole Mustard dressing. Quite excellent! The sausage sat on a bed of fettuccine in marinara sauce. So delicious! My husband tried the Chicken Maxine, chicken covered in Creole mustard sauce. To die for! He also had fettuccine in marinara sauce. Just a wonderful meal! If you ever find yourself on Frenchman Street in NOLA, try Adolfo's.

Fabulous food. Went two nights in a row. Unfortunately tonight we had a server that needs another job. Tall sly guy. He treated us as if we didn't matter. The first four tables had their apps before we were even offered water. His attitude was indifference. Thankfully our waitress was amazing. I would can that guys butt. There were 5 of us and we all felt the same way. Food was fabulous.

This little venue is doing it right. Intimate vibe; food cooked to order in a small kitchen (you can see a lot of the action). Service was great. Call ahead for a reservation; they bent over backwards to get us in.
Honestly, the food was not the best I've had recently but I would go back and try some other items. They obviously care about their craft and that goes far in my book. The rack of lamb was clearly a signature and impressed. The salad had a great house dressing but was very small. Frog legs app was just OK (sauce appeared oily or broken).

I was here last Sunday with my family. Apparently, the head/main chef was sick and could not come in, and there were only two gentlemen in the kitchen. We were warned by the serving staff (which was also great) that they were short staffed.
Despite whatever staffing issues were at hand, our meal was absolutely phenomenal. Highlights were the eggplant adeline (if I recall the name) and the flounder special (switched my side pasta sauce to butter with garlic and it worked perfectly... honestly one of my favorite dishes ever served at any restaurant), but every dish, including the mussels and the lamb special, were great. My family is Italian, from New Jersey. We cook a lot, my grandmother lived with us my whole life and died 2 years ago at 98 and taught us all how to cook. We know and appreciate good food. I will tell you without hesitation she would have loved this place. Cannot recommend highly enough, if you are in New Orleans and need a break from oysters, gumbo and boudin balls -- truly exceptional Italian food with a distinct Cajun/Creolone influence. Get the 'Ocean' sauce! We come every year on a timeshare and Adolfo's is now definitely on our 'must do' list.

THE BEST PLACE FOR FOOD!! Hands down! This is a MUST!!!
Allen-Paul Templet
As incredible as ever. Very busy very tight very noisy and hour wait. Worth every second. Ocean stuffed flounder was beyond belief. Rack of lamb must under perfection. Muscles were perfect. Another great meal. We have been going here for 10 years and I've never been disappointed.
Ru Z
Hands down, by far, the one place to treat yourself to an impeccable dinner. No words to describe how phenomenally perfect their rack of lamb tasted. Cash only. Be prepared to wait for a table and be extremely patient in order to truly enjoy your most memorable dining experience. Tip the staff well. They deserve it.
Ellie Joy P.
Small, but charming restaurant with local vibes. Italian dishes with a creole touch. Fast service. Good food. Just be careful if you are not a spicy food fan: you really beed to let them know ahead and ask about which dishes you could have. They are very helpful though.
Mac Fitzgerald
Adolfo's is truly amoung the very best Italian restaurants we have ever had the good fortune to thoroughly enjoy. Moreover, the Chicken Marsala is simply to die for.
We were told by our waitress the marvelously eccentric artwork that covers the walls had been sought out and collected by the owner from literally from all over the world.
J. Benji
The food is amazing and I highly recommend you go...SOON! I visited for my 4th wedding anniversary with two other couples! We tried so many different dishes and shared with a smile!
Joseph DeSantis
I don't say these words often, but Aldolfo's was the best dining experience I have ever had! I ordered the stuffed flounder special and it was by far the best fish meal I have ever eaten! As an avid fisherman and life-long fan of sea food I have had many excellent meals at many restaurants and at home but this overshadows all! We were lucky enough to have our meal prepared by Adolfo himself and he most certainly didn't disappoint. This was our first trip to New Orleans and this restaurant was suggested by a fellow passenger on our flight who also happened to be a local from the city. The restaurant itself is quite small and seating is very limited but it is truly a fantastic find and if you have the opportunity I highly suggest dining at this establishment!
Marine PROUST
Food was okay but nothing special. Didn’t really find the local food inspiration. A bit disappointed by the overall experience.
Haydar Celik
This place is my favorite in NOLA. Lamb is os good and inspirational (I replicated at home, but not as good). Stuffed flounder is amazing. Down to earth, simple place. You cannot go wrong here.
William Judson
This place was delicious what you looking at was a fish with the Oceana sauce too nice for fillets fried with this delicious sauce on top full of shrimp and whatever it was really good. And it kind of reminds me of the dog vomit when I looked at it LOL but it was the best tasting dog vomit l ever ate we had veal with the lemon butter sauce very very good we had the cannoli that was very tasty we had the muscles best mussels I've ever had and oysters Pernod really enjoyed the place in a hot area a lot of characters on the street it's all cash but it was worth the trip
Treva Harrison
The food was wonderful! I’ve never had food this tasty. A great place for people who are visiting New Orleans to stop and have dinner. You won’t be disappointed.
george chavarria
Great food at a good value. I love their ocean sauce, which you can get on just about everything. Had mine on perfectly cooked NY strip. Table bread may look plain, but has great garlic flavor. First come...be prepared to wait. Great parade route stop
Tom Caldwell
Found this place last minute and thank God we did! The mussels are amazing. The Stuffed Flounder is incredible! You HAVE to get the White ocean sauce whatever you do!! Waiter was nice and very knowledgable. CASH ONLY. Highly recommend!
Raci Tasman
Charming Italian restaurant with a NOLA twist. We enjoyed listening to the music downstairs before having dinner. Delicious food and very friendly staff. Everyone's meals were amazing. I shared the Eggplant Parmesan and Cannelloni with spinach and ricotta and both were among the best ever. An absolute must go to on Frenchman Street!l
Kay Aguilar
Hands down some of the best food in New Orleans. If you don't call ahead for a reservation, you have to put your name on a list to make it inside. We waited for an hour and a half but it was so worth it! We had the steak in ocean sauce and their snapper also in the ocean sauce with an order of escargot as an appetizer. From our meal, the garlic bread, wine, and family feel, we had a great time. Just make sure you bring a wad of cash as it is cash only. You will spend an average of $50 per person so be mindful. They do have an atm available though, so no worries. I will absolutely return to this delicious place. So worth everything
Kim Laford
Great home cooked food! A local resident recommended we eat there. The mix of the food is amazing, seafood and Italian food. Just amazing and yummy 😋
And amazing service!😊
B Rich
Food was good water was served in a plastic cup and the sauce was watery , "seafood sauce". Veal parmesan was super. Wishing for cloth napnikns. Bartender Madeline was really awesome. It's a tight place... Being close.
Eric
Escargot and rack of Lamb were amazing. I keep going back every trip to NOLA. Never a disappointment.
Lynn Hansen
A hidden gem. Do not let the entrance deter you. The restaurant is located on the 2nd level, up a set of old wooden stairs. The food is worth the wait. AMAZING. I had the daily special of Flounder in a crab cream sauce. 😋. Cash only. Knowledgeable and attentive staff. If near Frenchmen Street, add this to your places to visit. …
Rainer Sailer
Great Food , we were a Company of 10 people and we all had different meals.. everything was just great. Very good👍
Hany Solh
Wow. Please please go here. This place was amazing. The food, the service, the ambiance. Everything was perfect. The lamb ribs were absolutely phenomenal! I hate that I am going to say the best server ever sat down with us and told us that we were his last table ever. Sawyer cheers to you my good sir! Good luck in your new career in California!
Lezlea Hudson
100 stars!! Absolutely the best food we ever ate! I had the special of the day: stuffed flounder..oh my gosh, it was delicious. It could have served 2 people, easily. My husband had the steak. He said the sauce was amazing and the steak was excellent!
They only take cash, like most places in NOLA, it's just a little pricey..but worth every penny!
There's a bar downstairs called Apple Barrel. I had a hurricane and it was the best one I had in the whole town and I had about 6 total in 2 days.
Melissa Steward
Be prepared with cash for some of the best Italian food around! Upstairs and homey, no reservations are accepted. So get there before 530 to get on the list for their first seating. We shared the mussels which were to die for! I had grouper Missy and my friend had the chicken parmesan. Both were amazing!! We ended dinner with chocolate mousse cake. Worth every penny and any wait!
Chris Dodsworth
The stuffed flounder with ocean sauce and the pasta primavera (which isn't on the menu, but we ordered it because my wife is vegan) were both fantastic. Unfortunately, by the end of the summer 2021, they plan on ceasing reservations. The best way to get a seat will be to show up at 5:30 and put your name on the list.
Elizabeth Golden
I was looking forward to eating here because it came highly recommend. My group split various entrees (which wasn't really allowed). I got steak with the ocean sauce. The ocean sauce was okay at best, though it was cold. The steak was a "ny strip" but was not tender at all and I ordered it rare. The ocean sauce was an additional $10 which was not communicated. We also ordered the lamb and it was so unbelievably tender. The sauce was good but very salty. The pasta was nothing to write home about. Bland tomatoe sauce, normal linguine. The eggplant parmesan was mediocre, soggy. The crab and corn cannoli was delicious and the sauce with it was beyond amazing. For the reputation of this it honestly was a let down. The wine is cheap though so that's a plus.
Felisha Bowers
The restaurant itself was small and upstairs but I liked the atmosphere and the food was delicious. Our waitress was friendly and attentive.
Catherine H (Blue3yedNerd)
Cash only, but they have an ATM. Adolfo's is a small, intimate restaurant that was perfect for our date night. (There are just 11 tables.) The bar downstairs, the Apple Barrel, had a really tight funk band playing. We had the cannelloni appetizer with crab and corn, and grouper with different sauces. It was a very large piece of fish cooked perfectly.
Pleased with the atmosphere, price and the food itself. The waiter was a little pushy in getting us to order, which was my only complaint.
Ted Strazimiri
Best meal in New Orleans. The rack of lamb and stuffed fish was absolutely incredible. The bar downstairs with live music made the 2 hour wait easy.
Bob Queen
After hearing much about this restaurant we headed over early and spent an enjoyable hour downstairs at The Apple Barrel waiting our turn. Once seated in the comfortable dining area we had very delicious and filling appetizers . I had Cannelloni filled with crab and corn which was superb. Nancy had excellent eggplant parmigiana. We should have split one appetizer. The main courses come with side salad or pasta. I chose the fish of of of.the day, grouper, with the Creole seafood sauce with crawfish and shrimp which was delicious and very creany and filling. My wife had the rack of lamb with ten lamb chops which she was very fond of. The pricing was very reasonable and there is a cash only policy. An ATM is on site for your convenience. Our server was charming and attentive. My dad would always say" you can't go wrong with The New York Strip" . I will have that on my next visit.
Jenn Naughton
Service was horrible. Their "line management" process is a joke. But if you can get past the fact that you're going to have to wait a minimum of 45 minutes to be seated, then you'll be in for some of the best Italian seafood dishes in New Orleans.
Marissa Grimsrud
Absolutely delicious. LOTS of food. Something for everyone, we aren't big seafood eaters so unfortunately missed out on the ocean sauce everyone raves about. But our food was soooogood.
Patrick Wang
You can’t go wrong with their specialties - the Rack of Lamb and the Stuffed Rainbow Trout with seafood ocean sauce. Service is perfect. We got lucky and slid right into a table without any wait but heard that most night expect 45min-1hr. This is a must-have in New Orleans!
Jennifer Spires
The food was absolutely delicious, the chefs amazing, I was so impressed that such delicious food could be created in such a small kitchen! This definitely is must if you ever visit New Orleans!
linchikas
Great food and service. Nothing fancy, nothing pretentious, just good food. It is recommended to be there before they open to get in with no wait. Grouper with seafood sauce was spectacular
raschelle bednarski
You know when you put something in your mouth that’s so good you spend the rest of your life chasing it? That’s what this is like. We visited the city and had a friend recommend it as the best food he’s ever eaten anywhere. Yes. It was. I need to fly back to New Orleans just to eat here. The night we went it was packed, no reservation and a hungry child right at opening. They fit us in outside table. We ordered the special steak tip bruschetta. Then we ordered another one it was so good. Everything about this place is fantastic. If you know, then you know. You know?
Kevin Sauer
Fantastic french-creole cuisine. This place is cash only, but they do have an ATM in the store (it carries a $4 fee).
I read some pretty negative reviews on here before deciding to give this place a shot, and I'm very glad I did. Our server was super nice, the wine was moderately priced, and the food was delicious.
Jonathan Moreau
Ok, im a local. Damn good!! Fish and pasta baby. Have the mossels if avaliable. Good stuff.
Kayla Brown
Amazing food. Worth the hour long wait to get seated. I had the stuffed tilapia with seafood sauce - one of the specials for the night.
Curtis Wieman
We have dined here the last three visits to NOLA. Always excellent.
Nathaniel Burbank
Good food, good atmosphere would highly recommend.
Phillip Doyle
Awesome dinner spot. Some of the best food I've had in a long while.
Brett Foster
Menu attached. Fish Cruz was really (really) excellent. The cash only nature and consistent upsells (at a cost) is frustrating. Friendly service.
Sydney Carter
A TRUE AND HONEST REVIEW: READ THIS.
First of all, our waiter, Mitch, was fantastic. He couldn’t have been more perfect.
Secondly, the food was great! We had a large party and we tried multiple different things, all were phenomenal.
WITH THAT BEING SAID,
I called Adolfos a week before our NOLA trip and asked if they took reservations and the girl on the phone kindly told me that they do not take reservations anymore.
I told her that we heard the restaurant was great and I wanted to know how we definitely could get in and get a table for 12.
She told me to come and wait in the line at about 5:10PM and we shouldn’t have a problem getting in. So there we stood a week later, 5:10PM on a Friday evening, two six person parties in front of us, and when we got to the door I told them we had 13 people (we had an add on since I had called previously), she asked if we had a reservation.
No, of course we didn’t. The woman a week prior told me that we didn’t have to have one and I told this woman that. She said it would be really hard to seat us, but she’ll see what she can do. So, she did. We all sat separately, but close on the lower level of the building where the bar is.
They then told us they only had four burners, so our food was going to take a while.
I asked two employees separately if they reservations were required and they both said, “I’m not sure. I don’t deal with seating.”
I’m not a restaurant owner, but I’m pretty sure ALL employees should know whether or not they take reservations.
Not trying to be a Karen or whatever, but they just need to get their story straight.
I would come back, but I would call the night before to see if I can get a reservation (or not) for the next day.
Zeph Snapp
Absolute fire. If they have the flounder, get it. Veal parm was fantastic. Everything I could have asked for and more.
Victoria F
The food here is AMAZING!! Bread is out of this world! Been here twice and got the same entree. Try the sausage or spinach, ricotta cannaloni and the chicken or veal piccata
gwenie penny slayer
omg best food! phenomenal food, such nice staff. my waitress was sooo nice! great evening.
Taylor Dunworth
Katherine and Hector are so wonderful here! We hung out in the bar, chatted with them for a good while, had great drinks, and learned where to explore in New Orleans. Highly recommend coming here!
Kasandra Lundquist
One of the BEST meals you can get in New Orleans! Service is amazing as well and price point is right on.
Todd Whirley
Reataurant is upstairs. Very small. Very quaint. Very loud. Great food.
Maureen Burke
Small, intimate space. EXCELLENT service. I had the rack of lamb...best I've ever had.
Andy Cigars
Great restaurant tucked into a lively NOLA Frenchman's Quarter neighborhood. Looks small from the outside, but inside it has a full bar and another dining room upstairs. The staff worked super hard despite being shortstaffed and took great care of us. A great Italian menu with a Southern flair, topped off with a winelist that offers a great selection of wines to accompany your meal. Highly recommended.
Jeff Fiske
All said and done, it was kind of pricey. But, hands down great food! Service was good, and cleanliness was comparable to the rest of New Orleans.
Ceasar Zepeda
6 Stars..... Unbelievably good!!! Worth the wait. Stuffed flounder with Ocean Sauce.... Just do it
Sabrina Brown
Atmosphere was cozy & warm. Service was superb & the food was mouth-watering
Charles King
Great atmosphere and service. Got the surf and turf steak and it was delicious. Just a great place to eat.
Jennifer Reitano
This place is amazing. A delightful cozy atmosphere and the food was scrumptious! Our party had the escargot, mussels, cannelloni stuffed crab meat, lamb, and veal parmigiana. That veal tasted like my grandmothers. I’ve never had such good Italian food this far south. Also, wonderful hospitality and service.
Lorraine
Absolute favorite restaurant we tried while we were in NOLA! We even tried a James Beard restaurant and while that was really good, Adolfo's is still my favorite. The food is to die for and you definitely have to try the ocean sauce! The service was also great and our waiter was very helpful with recommendations.
Cash only restaurant, but if you need more cash there is an ATM in the restaurant. Be prepared for a wait on busy nights, you'll have to wait in the bar downstairs for your name to be called which is also cash only, but the food is definitely worth it. My friend and I ordered the mussels which was fresh and delicious, and split the pork chops with ocean sauce. Both were amazing, especially the pork chop! It was tender and cooked just right, and it was a nice healthy portion. The ocean sauce I would have for every meal if I could and it was basically butter, shrimp, blue crab and deliciousness. Wish we could've tried the rack of lamb and the steak, but we didn't have any room. We did get the tiramisu for dessert, which was nice and fluffy. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the garlic bread, but everything else was top notch. I'd definitely come back here again if I'm ever back in the city!
R Perez
Hands down the best restaurant we have ever been to. Get there early and bring cash. Atm is on property. Get the mussels!
Ruben Pena
Great food and service but be ready to wait if you are coming on a weekend evening.
Kim Parker
This place is so special! The service was great. I had the mussels and I couldn't finish them the portion was much. When can you ever say that about a mussel dish? It was so yummy! My husband had the lamb and he ate it all. We didn't have to wait at all, but it was 6 on a Monday. It is a cash only place, so be advised. This will be a staple whenever we are in town.
Adam Grimm
Mussels, rack of lamb, stuffed fish with ocean sauce! Hot Dang! Best meal of the trip. Best lamb of my life!
Wonderful and friendly service in a cozy space. Great music and drinks at the bar downstairs for before and after dinner. Must try!
Jay Kersbergen
For a little hidden place, the food was different but very good and fair priced
Jon Dempersmier
Visited with a party of four and all had exceptional meals. Our server, James, was knowledgeable and made it a fun experience. Very fresh seafood, steak and lamb were perfectly prepared & tender. Sauces & seasonings complemented without overpowering, ocean sauce is a must-try! We will definitely return on our next trip to NOLA!
Allen Ingling
Apparently this restaurant is representative of Creole-Italian food. At least for your first visit get any of their signature entrees with ocean sauce. Both the NY Strip and the stuffed flounder with ocean sauce were out of this world.
Service was excellent as well.
No reservations but you can enjoy a beverage and live music in the bar downstairs.
Pat Burke
The wonderful aroma of garlic roasting in butter as you open the door to this upstairs gem on Frenchman street. Don't be fooled by the well worn stairs, their kitchen delivers amazingly delicious options. The rack of lamb was cooked perfectly, surrounded by a delicious sauce of butter, garlic & spices. The lamb flavor was there and it definitely wasn't too gamey. Their veal dishes are amazingly tender and the preparations range from simple picatta, to spinach & lemon sauce or their intoxicating Ocean Sauce (shrimp & crawfish in a light, creamy sauce). We were all pleasantly fill but couldn't leave before sharing a slice of delightfully refreshing lemon cello cake.
Gri Shi
We made a reservation in the restaurant for our birthday and were satisfied. Food and wine are beyond praise. Our waitress didn’t have enough time to spend with us, probably because of busy night at the restaurant. An atmosphere in Adolfo’s very cozy and nice. I liked everything, thanks.
Jessica Yestrau
AMAZING FOOD!!!! I had the special of the evening which was steak with a seafood white sauce. It was mind blowing! It was similar to an alfredo but had crawfish, shrimp, capers and lots of cheese! It is definitely worth the wait. The bar downstairs is fun to hangout in while you wait for your table. Although there is a long wait, having fewer tables upstairs made for a much more relaxed environment.
Kelsey Jordahl
The food here was great and tasted very fresh! We had to wait a bit for a table, but it was no big deal because we just had a quick drink at the bar downstairs and enjoyed the live music. Would definitely recommend getting a fish meal with the ocean sauce! The ocean sauce rules. The only drawback is that it's totally cash-only! Kind of a pain.
George Devore
If I could give them 10 stars, I would, and this is due to how unbelievably amazing their stuffed flounder is. Yes, it was a little bit of a wait to be seated, but that is nothing compared to the wait I'll have before I get to go there again being that I'm from Texas. Please go there and try that stuffed flounder....for me. And if you're the chef and you are reading this review, if you happen to have a pointer or two on how I could closely duplicate cooking this at home, that would be much appreciated.
Generosa Israel
We got the Adolfo’s at 5:25 pm and there were 10 people ahead of us on a Saturday afternoon. They have 11 tables or about 34 covers. The place was completely full at opening. Calin our waiter was outstanding. Food came out to the first tables a little fast, but but the time we were served our entree’s came out at just the fight time to enjoy out appetizer and salad.
We had the mussels for our appetizer and the were excellent in a garlic butter sauce similar to a barbecue shrimp sauce. We then had the stuffed flounder and pork chops for entrees. The portion for the pork chop was about 2 pounds of very succulent and delicious lightly smoked pork covered with their signature ocean sauce. The stuffed flounder was also a large portion and also covered with ocean sauce. I was very impressed with the consistence and flavor of the stuffed flounder because of how evenly the fish and stuffing was cooked throughout. These people have a very high quality food and service and we will definitely be back and recommend to anyone looking for superb food in a casual atmosphere.
James Cardo
You should go here. Expect a wait. Order something with Ocean Sauce. It doesn't matter what. Else, the lamb. Drink some wine. Cash only. Tip well. Feel confident that you made a fantastic choice of restaurants. Best meal I had my last visit. Spent much more elsewhere for lesstwice! Pro tip: just line up for opening. Worst case you're waiting at the Apple Barrel bar for an hour.
Jessica Lieberman
Absolutely delicious! My boyfriend and I stopped here on our trip to New Orleans based on a recommendation from a tour guide. We had to wait to be seated but there was conveniently a bar downstairs with live music that we could wait at. We had a HUGE serving of mussels for an appetizer and stuffed flounder with ocean sauce to share as an entree. Both delicious. We also had a lovely server. Decor is cozy and romantic.
Nick Weinberger
My wife and I went to Adolfo's based on all the crazy reviews and recommendations, maybe we went to the wrong Adolfo's?! I wanted a simple pasta or chicken dish but we were talked into getting the stuffed flounder and the rack of lamb. The meals we ordered were presented as specials and didn't have prices listed...we should have asked. Both dishes came with a side of salad or pasta. Can't comment on the salad but the pasta side was very basic. The lamb costs $38 and the flounder was $24. For the price we paid we expected better quality and taste.
bob thornot
Best Italian food. Anywhere. Period. The food was so great I tipped the chefs walking out, who you can see in this very cozy and small restaurant. It's so good that every time I've been there people share their food with the tables around them because it's too good not to share. If you don't love it, you hate great food and a truly unique NoLa experience.
James Simms
Small restaurant, we got there early to make sure we got in. We had a big plate of mussels in marinara sauce for starters. Then came the rack of lamb, very tender and delicious, also stuffed flounder with their Ocean sauce. It was so good, I could just pour Ocean sauce in my mouth and forget the rest of the meal. You might have to wait in line but it is definitely worth it
Jake Bratton
Food was out of this world good. Had steak with ocean sauce (seafood creme). Waiter was excellent and timely. Very small restaurant. Very quaint, lots of character. About 25 minute wait for table, but had good drinks downstairs bar listening to live music (also very small, but fun).
Trey Hollis
I was born and raised in NOLA. I cant imagine finding better/fresher seafood and the Italian meets Creole fusion is outstanding. Because I have not lived near the gulf coast since graduating from LSU, I CRAVE fresh seafood (I have tasted all the other non-seafood dishes and they are great). I go to Adolfo's every time I return home and am never disappointed. If you don't like their fresh fish with Ocean Sauce, you are from too far away. :) I found this place bc my fishing guide about 10 years ago put me onto it before Adolfo's became a staple. He knew the chef (at that time it was Gotto) and actually sold fresh fish to him that would be served the night it was caught. Many great restaurants in my home town. This is one of them for sure.
Liam Fitzgerald
Amazing, as always. Luckily, Chef was in a good mood, so we go pink sauce on our pasta and Ocean Sauce on the lamb. Couldn't have asked for a better dinner or night!
Terri Rousey
Their food is incredible! The salmon and lamb are amazing! And I'm vegan! It is very small. So get in line early. It gets a little noisy when the room fills up. But it still feels romantic.

I save 5 star ratings for the truly exceptional, and this was it. Appetizers as large as entrees at other restaurants. Seafood cream sauce options to top many protein options. My husband's veal parmigiana had zero breading and was excellent as was the stuffed flounder, my north Atlantic salmon and the new York strip steak (although I thought the only flavor in the steak was from the Ocean sauce [capers w crab & shrimp w crawfish 1/2 each] the member of our party loved it). Will definitely visit again.
Cora “Cori” I
I wish I could have taken a picture of our food, it was amazing! Our server, Brianna (I think? I know it was Bre), was so nice, She didn't make us feel rushed, and she her recommendations of the Mussels and Rack of Lamb, was amazing! I had mine with salad and my boyfriend with pasta. When I asked her a question, she asked the rest of the staff and told me the best shops to go at the time. As for the cook, all I can say is WOW! The whole staff was amazing.
This was worth the small wait cause of how busy it was, and it was worth the price 100%, best date ever. My boyfriend and I plan to come back again next year
M D
hands down the best restaurant in New Orleans James was my server tonight, great job! I've been coming here for over 10 years the food is excellent get the ocean sauce on anything.
tonight I had it covered on it steak it was cooked perfectly rare the way I like it.
Elise Weber
The mussels were amazing! Also, get anything with ocean sauce (you will be glad you did). We arrived a little after 7pm and had to wait for a table, luckily there is a great bar with live music down stairs you get to enjoy while you wait. If you don’t want to wait for a table get there before 7 or around 8 pm.
Jordan Axt
Wow. I’m not even sure this is real life anymore because this food is unbelievable. Your life is incomplete unless you eat here. Stop thinking about it and make the decision to go here. You are welcome.
Michael Sloan
Get there early at 5:20 for the first seating and you won't wait. The place fills up in about 10 minites. Staff was friendly and provided recommendations. Chicken Picatta was tender and very flavorful. The Stuffed Flounder and Ocean Sauce special was excellent as well. Only negative was the crab topping on itit h some small shells and bones? Not sure how that is, but a good experience overall. It is loud and crowded, so be warned but that is half the fun of New Orleans.
Sean Johnstone
This place is AMAZING. Went there with a group of 6; they were understaffed and our waiter still did an amazing job. The escargot was to die for and the ocean sauce is one of the best in the city. I wouldn't recommend it with a fish entree because it may be a little overbearing but everything else it is great for. I can't wait to try out the other appetizers and their pasta. Definitely going back!
Michael Rich
Wonderful food. The house wine was excellent. A very simple, but elegant upstairs restaurant. It is small and folks were lined up at 5:30 when it opens. I recommend steak dishes and the ocean sauce. Superb.
Sandor “Sandy” S
Some of the best Creole Italian here. Ocean Sauce is wonderful. I had Strip steak with Rum Peppercorn sauce that was delicious. Perfect internal temp on the meat too. Fantastic service and the only two challenges are very few tables so must get there early unless you want to wait and cash only which is mildly inconvenient.
Dave Allen
Wife and I had the stuffed flounder with "ocean" sauce. Was good, very rich. Wife and I couldnt finish it. While it was good experience, I think there was too much going on with it. Is amazing they cook all that in that little building. Service was great, price is right. Cash only!
Savannah Carter
This was the best restaurant I’ve ever been to! I absolutely loved the stuffed flounder special and the atmosphere, our waiter was awesome, and there was music playing outside and dancing too. I can’t wait to come back to Adolfo’s.
Leigh
We had a lovely dinner at Adolfo’s. The setting is really intimate and cosy, upstairs from a music club called The Apple Barrel.
Our waitress was really friendly and seemed genuinely enthusiastic about the food. They had plenty of nice-sounding specials on but I was just really in the mood for a simple pasta while my partner opted for a chicken dish, which he really loved. The food isn’t particularly “wow!” or creative beyond having a slight Creole influence in some of the dishes, it’s more like home cooked comfort food, and the prices are quite cheap and the portions were decent, so we were happy. We each had a glass of the house red, which was okay, and shared a piece of limoncello cake for dessert, which was pretty good.
They only take cash but do have an ATM.
If you want some cheap and tasty comfort food in a romantic setting, this place is a decent bet.
Tahlia Parrish
If you're thinking of eating here, please do yourself a favour and come and try it. Yes you have to wait, but there's a bar downstairs with generous pours and music, so you'll be fine. The food is so, so delicious. Get the off menu specials, take the recommendations, you won't regret it.
Bre is awesome! Let's hope you are lucky enough to be served by her!
Joshua Davis
Italian food that was worth the 1 1/2 hour wait in the bar with live music just downstairs. The stuffed flounder was heavenly. The garlic bread is what makes Homer drool, Dough! The smell from the open kitchen will make a full person hungry again.
Russ Mitchell
Of the dozens of dining choices in and around New Orleans that I've made over the years, Adolfo's is the best. I recommend grouper with ocean sauce. You're in for a real treat. Take note: this place is cash only and sometimes there's a long wait. There is an ATM available and they are above a bar where you can have a drink and anticipate the fireworks that are about to occur on your palate. A+++
Isaac Ingalls
Visiting New Orleans on a business trip and trying to find a place that everyone will like (that serves both delicious vegan and non vegan options) seemed like it would be tough. Decided to go to Adolfo's because they have pasta. Pleasantly surprised to find they do have a delicious vegan dish as well as delicious non vegan options. Tim was our server and he did a fantastic job! Really enjoyed his presentation of the restaurant and his style of serving.
James Bohan
Wow, what a find! We went here on the recommendation of a friend. They told us to arrive early because there would be a wait. They were right. We arrived 1/2 hour before the doors opened (in the rain no less) and we got one of the last tables. Awesome food!! You would never guess just by looking at the place that the food would be so world class. It's a total divey upstairs room that used to be an apartment. Very cool, very NOLA!
Sarah Danenberg
Took a long time to get a table, so plan to get your name on the list then walk around. Service is a little slow, but the wait is so worth it. Food is GOOD. Pasta yum and the lamb special with mint sauce, OMG. Definitely try out when in new Orleans.
Rick M
The best of the best in the French Quarter. What ever you decide to eat, make certain you get Ocean Sauce. The atmosphere, service, ambiance, vibe, aroma, food, and one on one attention is worth it's weight in gold. Make reservations and parking is close and not expensive.
Paul Pomeroy
Came here on a recommendation and glad we did. Our waiter suggested the rack of lamb, most amazing lamb ever! Tender, juicy and delicious. My wife had steak with peppercorn sauce. Again, amazing. I’ll come here Avon my next visit to Orleans.
Johan B. Monell
I dined there 3 times on my last visit to New Orleans. Tried different courses and they where all fantastic ! Love this place for its atmosphere aswell. Can be tough to get a table, but you can wait downstairs at the apple barrel and have a few drinks to live music while you're waiting. Adolfo's has great food, great atmosphere, great service and is also a romantic place to bring you better half. I have been working in the restaurant business for many years, but this is by far one of my best experiences !
Kelly Whitter
Be sure to bring cash! Tucked away and not able to make reservation but be there by 5p for a spot and you will not be disappointed. I got the rack of lamb and boy was it the best lamb I’ve ever had (seasoned traveler). Make this a go-to spot
Michelle Blazewicz
THE BEST meal I have had in a long time. Our waiter was extremely friendly and gave us some local recommendations. Cannot recommend this place enough. Everything was seasoned incredibly and worth every penny.
Byron Sterling
A relatively popular "hole in the wall" venue. The bar downstairs was small with a live guitar and piano. It was standing room only at 4 pm. The cuisine upstairs was amazing. It was the last meal I had in 2017 and it was the best meal I had all year. You can't make a reservation so it's first come, first serve. We showed up at 4 and the doors didn't open until 5:30. It was totally worth the wait.
esteban largaespada
Great little hidden gem. Cash-only and no reservations taken. Get there early to get on the list to get a table. It's definitely worth the wait.
It's a very good way to get to know some of the fusion of cultures that New Orleans is known for. Creole-Italian by way of a little Cajun.
At the end of the day, it's tasty and it's cozy :)
Wyatt Isbell
One of my favorite restaurants in the entire country! Great price, kitchen is right there almost on top of you where you can smell the next bite coming your way, awesome atmosphere, feels real. Been here 3 times and never had a bad meal and always something different.
Love Love Love this place!
Laura Williams
The lamb was so good , the waiter offered to buy the entree from us if we didn't like it so he could eat it himself! (Nobody's ever taken him up on that offer). Delicious food, cool vibe, great service!
Mike Sallier
Found this place purely by accident. Easily one of the best meals that I have ever had in NOLA. I had the NY Strip w/ Ocean Sauce...very recommended. Add in the escargot for an appetizer and some good wine... I cannot wait to visit this place again.
Frank Rouse
One of the best meals I've ever eaten in New Orleans. I had the stuffed Flounder in a seafood sauce, and my wife had the rack of lamb. Both were equally delicious! It's a meal worth getting on the list for.
Dina Mason
The Ocean Sauce was "Devine"! I also had a taste of PJs lamb chops...very good!
Michelle Gerdes
Amazing food. Had fish and there are so many choices. Great service
WJ Mock
You will never taste anything like the pork chops with ocean sauce. If you order any of the specials you'll be rewarded with a great meal. Get there early or late or be prepared for an hour or more for a table. Authentic NOLA dining experience.
Matt Scates
We forgot who tipped us off to this place, but it is our favorite stop for dinner when we visit New Orleans. Service includes folks who know the menu, are able to recommend dishes to suit different tastes, and are friendly and attentive. The food is Italian based, but with a Creole twist. While certain places rely on spicy, and others attract with sweet, Adolpho's has a good understanding of how to use savory flavors to enhance a dish and please the palette.
Ted Nixon
Wow after looking at reviews it looks like a hit or miss. Some people like it hot and some like it cold? Well my wife and I ate here and we eat out a lot
The wait is longer than some places but there are only a few tables ...so what do you expect. You can walk around Frenchman to pass the time. But are you there for the food or experience.
Service without a doubt was extremely nice. Cash only but not a problem as ATM is inside.
Good food overall. We had steamed clams which were a nice start. I liked
French bread was very NOLA :) The salad (house) was ok not the best but ok. We ate the NewYork strip with the house OCEAN topping( seafood melody in spicy cream sauce) . I would say 7.5 out of ten for dish. We also had the rack of lamb, good size and cooked as requested. If you like lamb , which I do, it was very good . I would say 8.0 out of ten.
Didn't take long to serve us. The price was around $75.00 without drinks.
I would recommend it if you are on Frenchman street and want a very good meal. :)
Avery W. Smith
Got there at 7 on an Wednesday and was able to be immediately seated. Note though, that the dining room filled up quickly after we arrived and stayed full the entire time - only approx. 11 tables. I had the Grouper with Ocean sauce and haven't stopped raving about it to everyone. My dad had the Veal with Ocean sauce and devoured it. The entire staff was helpful, knowledgeable, and gracious. Shout out to Alex who did an amazing job! Also tried the an eggplant app and it was also really tasty. Even with sauce over it, I could tell that they crisped the skin. Heard several recommendations for the lamb ribs - fyi. The atmosphere was very cozy and had lots of cool local art displayed. Perfect date spot. Also, Aldolfo's is on the second floor and is CASH only. ATM on-site
Katlyn Samson
This is my #1 recommended place. I am ALWAYS telling people to come here. I have never been disappointed in the food and I have eaten here plenty of times. The food is always consistently delicious. Everyone I have ever brought to eat here has felt the same. The restaurant is so charming and quaint. I just adore this place head to toe. 💗
Heidi Szekely
I'm so glad a local friend insisted on this place for dinner. It was so amazing! I only wish I hadn't eaten any snacks before coming so I would have been able to eat more. The ocean sauce is a must! Am opportunity not to be missed!
Thomas Leath
Last night My new wife and I made our way down to Frenchmen Street to listen to some live music and have dinner. We came across a nondescript place with a small unlit sign called Adolfo's Restaurant. It’s above a bar and has only 10 tables. As soon as we walked in the door we knew it was the place for us. Small, intimate, and lots of character. Our waiter, James, was at the top of his game, and knew the menu inside and out. We opted to start with Mussels, and then moved on to one of the specials, which was a New York Strip, medium rare of course, topped with their Ocean Sauce. The Ocean Sauce has a light cream base with half of each, crabmeat, crawfish, shrimp, and capers. It was outstanding, as was the wine pairing and Limoncello cake for dessert. If you are headed to New Orleans, check out Adolfo’s, and definitely ask for James! It’s an evening we won’t soon forget! Highly recommend!
uma gobana
We had a lamb and past, the lamb was marinated well and comes tender. The beat lamb i have ever had. I highly recommend this place. One thing need to keep in mind, no reservation fist come first served, plane few hours ahead of your date
Best Mudkip
Quite possibly the best lasagna I've ever had. The mussels are to die for. The servers are great, the owners are super nice. We go right when they open, at 5, but I have been known to wait 2 hrs, we just chilled downstairs, in the bar.
Caroline Amiel
We had a great time at Adolfo's! The staff is adorable and the food delicious :) The mussels were amazing in particular. Have a go at the cocktails too!
James Allen
Substance WAY over style! Yes it is a rickety upstairs to a small bar but the food is so good I come back for it again and again. It's busy because it is so good and I'm very happy to wait for an hour for a seat (the Apple Barrel downstairs is quite pleasant). This place is totally unique and should be treasured.
Don Johnson
I had supper here the other night with 3 other people. I would say this place is just okay. It was about an hour wait because it i's a small quaint restaurant. The bottom floor had a bar and live music and is fun. Keep in mind the bar and restaurant is cash only. They do have 2 ATMs for you to use as well. I,ordered the lamb, it was cooked perfectly and was tender but lacked flavor. It seemed like it had some oil and rosemary but no real flavor. It came with a side of pasta which was noodles and spaghetti sauce and it was horrible. Sauce was so watery and flavor lacking. We also got the flounder with crab meat and ocean sauce. Flavor was okay but left more to be desired especially for the price. We also go the salmon which was liked and a eggplant parmesian which was also awful similar to the other pasta. Again sauce was very watery and the entire plate lacked flavoring. We also sat under and AC vent that was covered in mold that kept dripping water on our table. We told the waitress and she replied with "well there's nothing we can do about that". A bit disapppinting that she didn't offer to move our seat or any other resolution. I would not go back.

I have been to a lot of great restaurants in my life. I have a list of my top 5 meals in my life. Aldolfo's has 2 dinners on that list. It's kinda cheap to eat there but they only take cash... then after dinner, bounce to Snug Harbor. A great night...
William Patterson
Got lucky and walked right in to a table for one...my server was cheerful, attentive and proud of her restaurant...I would be too if I worked there. I had Grouper w. Ocean Sauce, the sauce being the house specialty...I told the server I was hoping to eat slowly and savor every bite but I failed miserably as I inhaled it with gusto and only wished my stomach was twice as big so I could try other dishes...The ambience is just that, ambience...small, cozy, unpretentious and perfect! I know not everyone gets a perfect meal, even the great houses stumble when it's busy or whatever, but to those who had less than a five star experience, I say go back, try it again...I love this place and will return any time I am in NOLA...thanks to the staff...cheers!
James Atkins
The best food in Nola. Super escargot, great mussels, ocean sauce to kill for. Great service, great environment.
Spartan 515
Food is some of the best you can get. Very busy and somewhat crowded, it's worth the wait and the sometimes less than stellar music being played in the bar. The mussels in white wine sauce and anything with ocean sauce are the definite must-haves. No reservations and no credit cards so bring cash!
Connor Swenson
I had an absolutely incredible experience at Adolfo's. Food was fantastic (try the Cannelloni stuffed with crabmeat and corn!) and I loved the style of the restaurant. It felt like I was eating at Adolfo's home and the service was great (credit to our awesome waiter Ramon). Definitely a must if you are near Frenchmen Street!
Tim Branham
Great atmosphere and even better food! My wife had the steak with crab on top and ocean sauce, that was outstanding. The trout special i had was two trout filets that sandwiched some delicious stuff in between and was covered in some delicious sauce.... it was deliciousness.
Paul Robertson
Great food, amazing patient service, and a cozy home kitchen atmosphere. Not the most sophisticated dishes in the world, but homestyle Italian with a gulf coast twist. Great fun meal with friends or small indulgence for a young couple.
Anthony Frey
We had the lamb, flounder, and veal; all exceptional. Don't believe folks who dis the pasta side that comes before the main--it's meant to be that way, a light and delicate marinara, not a heavy bolognese. Only downside was "45 minute wait" was 1.5 hours.
karen owen
Always one of our favorites. Food well prepared but not a fan of their new policy. Each person MUST order an entree. We left half of the lamb and mussels Checking this one off our list
Paul Misticawi
Adolfo's is the best restaurant I have ever eaten at and traveling for a living, I have had more than my fair share of restaurant experiences.
The combination of Italian and Creole is amazing! If you like food with some spices strong taste, you will not be disappointing.
The Cannelloni app (crab and sausage) are both amazing and highly recommended. Whatever entree you get, try the "ocean" topping; you will not be disappointed.
If you are looking for a white clothe, fancy restaurant in New Orleans, there are plenty to choice from but if you are looking for a "hole in the wall...where the locals dine", this is your place!
I am not a big fan of putting reviewing online but this was so good, I felt the need to add my two cents worth!
John Galt
One of my favorite Italian restaurants ever.
Sarah Boyer
Cozy artistic atmosphere. Escargot, lamb and veal were amazing. There was a 45 min wait but it was well worth it. Downstairs there was a great band and bar which felt like a bonus.
P Fox
I'm a New Orleans native and this is one of my favorite places in the city to dine.
Cozy. Personable. Friendly service. Just be prepared to wait and bring cash.
This place is very popular and they do not take reservations.
THE FOOD IS AMAZING!!
Richard Zaretsky
I go here a few times a year - when we visit family nearby. We have the "start the line" down to a science so we are in the first seating. Figure even with first in, dinner is a 90 minute affair. A lot of people say fancy, or romantic, or lots of ambiance. To be truthful (isn't that what a review is for?) all those explanations are subjective. So are those that say "awful". The food is definitely an experience. Plenty of portion size, sauces if you want, and your tastebuds will definitely be working overtime (in a good way). My personal taste is that this place is small (11 tables) and homey and just fun and relaxing to be in. Everyone is happy to be there. Yes you need to take a flight of stairs to get there - and pain in the wallet that they take cash (I don't use ATM's) only. Perfect place to catch the early dinner then the 8 pm John Boutte show at DBA across the street! If you are over 60 like I am, you may want to split an entree so you are not stuffed. It is just unfair to NOT have the seafood sauce on the stuffed flounder if it is your first time there.........
Michael Corroon
Cannelloni with crab and corn was spectacular. Fish special with ocean sauce was very rich but exquisite. If you don't have a huge appetite I'd skip the starter and only have a main course, it was very filling.
Margaret Hinz
Amazing food...the mussels are not to be missed and you can't go wrong with anything that has Ocean Sauce on it. Two things to remember...cash only and you can easily wait over an hour and a half if you're not in line when they open at five thirty sharp.
Ryan Lamb
Intimate dinning experience. Food was unbelievably delicious!!!
Gene Staehr
Excellent food!! Ordered the stuff flounder and shrimp with ocean sauce. Was not disappointed. Very unique atmosphere. Get there early to avoid the wait.
Taryn Alexandros
Heard about this place lots of times, particularly of the wait to get in. Finally was able to try it at an early dinner. The ocean sauce was wonderful over crawfish stuffed flounder. A friend ordered the chicken maxine which was delicious. Highly recommend.
Rachel Banfill
10 stars! Worth the wait and every penny, I'd eat their ocean sauce on anything! Large meals, big enough to share! Super friendly and helpful staff! I'll be back as soon as I can only next time this will be my first meal in nola not my last so I can go twice!
Stacey Coffee
Absolutely, without a doubt, the BEST food we had in New Orleans. Grouper with Ocean Sauce: OMG!! Great local establishment with an intimate, Italian setting. Not in the French Quarter, so more of a local feel. DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE!
Asia Strong
One of the greatest restaurants in New Orleans. The wait is worth it. Don't be in a rush, enjoy some drinks and music downstairs at Apple Barrel and then enjoy fresh, authentic, New Orleans/Italian cuisine in a cozy, romantic atmosphere.
Rick Kalebaugh
This place is wonderful. Food, atmosphere, service, all is amazing. My second time eating here. It is a MUST DO for dinner. I'll back!!!!!!!! Again and again...
😁😎❤ …
Ced Delaney
Very intimate spot, food looks amazing, nice portions, service was great, that helped a lot. The food, maybe I'm being to critical but it was lacking the flavor I'm used to getting in New Orleans, but that's just my opinion, everyone else enjoyed theirs.
Mac Derrick
Fantastic food, good drinks, a bit of a wait at times but 100% worth it. Cash only, with ATM inside. Stuffed flounder with ocean sauce and mussels were awesome. Service from Caroline was awesome.
Heather A Adams
Had some of the best service (Thank you Sawyer!) Great spot in the heart of Frenchman Street. YES on the Seafood Sauce on virtually anything. Sadly, no on the Shrimp and Crawfish Combo with alfredo sauce. It had no flavor which is virtually impossible in New Orleans!
Angela R. Hunt
Excellent dinner, loved the grouper and steak specials we ordered. The sauces were divine. Service was superb and atmosphere was uniquely New Orleans.
Steven Garman
Stuffed flounder was one of the best meals on our entire trip. Staff was very friendly and the bread was good. Would definitely come back next time we are in NOLA.
Mark Suriani
This has to be one of the best food place I've ever eaten at. The food is top quality and flavorful. we had 9 people and all nine meals were superb. if you are NOLA you must put on your list
Gary Lavin
One of my favorite New Orleans spots. Busy place and no reservations, put your name down and head to the bar downstairs to listen to some music. CASH only in both places, husband owns the restaurant upstairs, wife has the bar downstairs.
João Pedro Ferreira
Amazing. Beautiful. The best food I had in a while.
Matt Marino
I don't get it. Been here 3 times over the years. The food is okay, you'll probably be a fan if you like butter and cream sauces. The ambiance is cozy. The wait can be annoying. This is on Google's foodie list but I think any foodie would be disappointed
Daniel Malgran
Outstanding Creole + Italian cuisine, highly recommend getting items that have a Creole inspiration. It's cash only but there is an ATM on premise. Very limited seating and it fills up quickly so make sure to get their early.
Thomas Normand
Ate here tonight! Was very very good. Get a reservation and sit upstairs to get the full experience!!!!
I can’t wait to come here again. I’m bringing my momma next time !
For the people that left bad reviews. Y’all are dumb. This place is a Gem
Rust Ranch
They lived up to their reputation. We heard about them half way across the country from multiple people. The New York strip with ocean sauce was to die for! We also loved the steak bruschetta.
Adriel Argote
More Creole than Italian in some aspects but not a bad thing! Small, intimate place with great flavors. Go with the ocean sauce on any protein and it's a whirlwind of flavors and spices.
Drew T
Adolfo's is a local hidden restaurant on Frenchmen that specializes in Italian and Creole dishes. The restaurant is located above the Apple Barrel bar. Apparently, Adolfos is always crowded so we were told to go early. We got their at 6:30 on a Thursday and didn't have to wait; however, people were waiting out the door at 7:00. Everyone's food was incredible and the portions are very generous. I had the lamb chops, and they give you an entire rack of lamb. Typical dishes are between $14 to $20; however, the lamb chops were a little more. If you are planning on hanging out on Frenchmen for the night, hit this place up for dinner.
Connie Page
This is my VERY favorite place in New Orleans. I love the ocean sauce and wish I could make the salad dressing. It is just creole mustard, lemon juice, oil and water. But I can not get the proportions right. Get there early and bring cash!!
Life Travel Goals
This place was just ok it was not bad it was not good it was ok. the servers were very nice and helpful. the food was just ok nothing great at all and very lacking on flavor. very little in way of wines. we were told this was the place to go for Italian food, it was not. not worth the wait at all or the money spent there. best part of the whole place was the bar on first floor with some live music.
Alyssa Secreto
You'll come for the history and reputation of this place but will be blown away by the service and quality of food. Chicken Vincent, as recommended by our server, was incredible. I enjoyed the burps for hours.
Bryan Plunger
This is THE best itilian and MAYBE the best food period I have ever had in New Orleans, and that's saying more than alot. Tiny cozy space, and get there as close to opening as you can or expect a LONG wait, but so worth it. Incredible veal, lamb, and fish dishes. Delicate and delicious marinara which is light and pasta that is also tender and perfect. Seriously amazing. Reasonably priced ($$) but CASH ONLY, be aware. Impossibke to beat for their Ocean Sauce and Italian Creole fusion food. A MUST for the foodie in NOLA.
Joseph Hayes
My go-to whenever I'm in New Orleans. No reservations, a small dining room with (at last count) 9 tables, you line up at 6 and if you're lucky you can eat by 9 ... and it is worth every minute. Anything with Ocean Sauce is what to order -- be very nice to your server, to offset the morons who think they can jump the line (they won't).
Ryan Knight
I love this place!!! The atmosphere is great, from the front of the house to the back of the house from hostess to waiting staff to the kitchen the service is impeccable, & the food is absolutely delicious & to die for... Thank you so very much for an amazing experience Adolfo's...
Michelle
Cute little local Italian spot. They do not take reservations so plan on getting there early...and don't worry if you didn't bring enough cash, they have an ATM right inside.
The food is delicious and good for sharing.
T. B.
Food was okay, but definitely feel like i paid more than I should have. Smaller portions are camouflaged by excessive sauces. Service was excellent, however!
Al Brown
Great food, great staff, prices very reasonable. Service was a bit slow but adequate, they were very busy and we were not in a hurry so all good. Very much enjoyed our visit and will come back again.
Mike Edwards
Worth the wait...and believe me, you will wait! Their music downstairs was truly awesome coming from just two musicians. The place is tiny, but it packs a punch. If you'll be in Nawlins for a few days, you won't be sorry putting this on your list. And then after dinner, take a walk down Frenchmen Street. If you're lucky, there'll be an outdoor concert on the next intersection - and they be JAMMIN'!
Nea Porta
OMG such a positive surprise and fantastic experience overall, the waitress Natalie was amazing and the food was just delicious perfect and the wine the best in town no question!!!! I will be back and recommend this place for everyone definitely!!!
Kathy Christensen
Recommended by a local and we learned why. Staff went far beyond expectations and the stuffed flounder was f@#$%#ing awesome!!! They even ran to the store to get vinegar for my salad. You cannot be disappointed.
Vellev-1
This place is amazing, we had the ribs which were so succulent as shown by the clean plate.
Andrew Ponciroli
The food and service was phenomenal
Christopher Weaver
This is my favorite restaurant on Frenchman street. The food is always amazing.
Eric Bramowicz
Simply excellent. The wait can be long because it literally has 10 tables, but the food is worth it!
The ocean sauce is so delicious and very decadent
Igor Melnik (Mind2BodyFitness)
This was by far one of the best experiences we had while visiting New Orleans. The food was soooo AMAZING and service was beyond anything we would expect. If Sawyer is still there when you visit please ask for him.
j c
Ordered the Chicken Vincent and took one to go for breakfast the next day before a scheduled tour. 2nd time I've been there and it did not disappoint.
Best meal I had in NOLA
marlena marie
Great little upstairs restaurant recommended by a local, for which I'm grateful. Arrive early. They fill up fast. Nice atmosphere delicious food. Great service.
Mark Stiles
My mouth waters every time hear the word Adolfo's. I recommend everything on the menu but whatever you get, get it with the ocean sauce. One of my all time favorite places to eat in New Orleans.
gary weeks
Second floor quirky/someone's dining room style restaurant. Don't need the menu, you'll just go with the specials. Great food and staff with a bar downstairs. Enjoy
Craig Reinhart
Completely awesome. Will definitely eat again when in New Orleans. Make sure you bring cash or an ATM card, they do not take credit. There is an ATM in the corner to get cash.
Paul Niesen
A little hole-in-the-wall place that sports tremendous food and fabulous service. Cash only, but an ATM is on site. The specials are worth checking out. Definitely recommend their Ocean Sauce!
Kim Woodbury
Worth the wait. They don't take reservations and it's cash only. Went for the stuffed fish special with seafood sauce. Huge portion and cooked perfectly.
Priscilla Lee
Stuffed flounder with ocean sauce. Great food but I don't like the face that they make you order one entree per person. For 3 women it's just way too much food waste.
Justin bauman
What a meal this was. The white wine muscles were the best I've ever had and both dishes were amazing. Be sure you get an entree that has the ocean sauce.
Tyler Pitts
Food high quality. Worth the wait for a table! Service is outstanding and food is the best we had in a week visiting NOLA. 1000% recommend!
Sarah Kynard
We come here every time we visit N.O., always delicious! Not a fancy place but very relaxed. I tried the crab cannelloni this time, yum.
andres jones
Great meal and wait staff went out of there way way to make sure the experience was good.
It didnt disappoint, very impressed.

carroll moore
My favorite dinner in NOLA!
Marla Hubble
We had a party of 10, they were extremely accommodating, the waitress was terrific and the food was absolutely wonderful. Not one complaint from anyone in our party and everyone has said they will go back again.
Kass Kremer
My all time favorite restaurant, a must visit for new Orleans
Zona Tora
If you have.bad experience at Adolfo you are either very unlucky or a spoiled brat. The building is as old as the city but that has nothing to do with the top shelf quality of food and service. This place is a hidden trasuure of the Quarter. The rustic old fashioned setting reminds me of a scene from the Godfather movie where Michael Coreloni whacks the police captain. Just go there, you will love it.
Mike Walters
Second time in 6 mos from out of town
(SoCal). THE BEST!!!! Stuffed flounder with Ocean sauce! Absolutely the best meal I’ve ever eaten- PERIOD!
James Niblett
One of the best places we ate during our visit to New Orleans! The food here is amazing! The staff was also very friendly and fun. It is cash only, so be prepared for that.
Tim Roling

Red Foxx
It was hot and loud but food great
Rebekah Doyle
Incredible from start to finish. Spectacular food (Ocean sauce is divine), knowledgeable and friendly service. Affordable fancy food in a laid back, cozy upstairs nook. Not wheelchair accessible.
Lisa Bose
The food was very good, everything was a tad spicy (which most of us like!) Only 11 tables, so very intimate, and away from the main French Quarter.
Terry L Buzzard Jr.
Great little eatery. I found it by mistake and very glad I did. Wait staff was friendly and seemed to really care. I have extreme food allergies and they made sure to address all concerns.
Joel Shantz
Lamb, fish and mussels were all amazing. Starter salad and pasta were weak and unneeded. Food was presented poorly and the place is quite rough around the edges. Staff is friendly.
Trish Schreiber
Intimate Italian, everything made from scratch. They don't take reservations, so get there early. And bring cash. You can easily split an entree, huge portions. Delicious!!
Daron Keeler

Good food but be aware, they only take cash and there are few tables. Don't bring a large group but for a family of 5 or a date night it is a great location on Frenchman St.

Found by accident after listening to some afternoon music at the Apple Barrel. Yummy food the mussels was awesome and the cannoliloni delish. A little piece of yummyness in the frenchman area .
Blake Herring
Small but impressive... mussels, ocean sauce, intimate. Expect to wait, and there’s not a lot of room in the Apple Barrel Bar downstairs, but it’s worth it.
Jason Johnson
Had the chicken Vincent, and the fish Missy (snapper)... OMG... tangy, spicy, delish. Well balanced with the side pasta...

Always give a 5 star so glad they are doing takeout wish they would keep it but I always get the veal stacie...this time there was coating on my veal it had NEVER had it on there before..I guess they figured it was a togo and I wouldn't notice but since I eat here regularly for every personal occasion I noticed...was really bummed if i were inside i would have sent it back....
