Reviews of Sushi 88
Kim Randolph
Went in about 2 on a Friday. There was only 1 other table occupied. Our server was really nice and kept our glasses full. The food didn't take long to come out. Everything we had was really good. I had the udon noodles, and we shared fried rice and spring rolls. My husband had crab salad and sushi.
Aubrey
Our server seemed agitated and rushed at first but it may have been because of how early we arrived. I spent 120 on sushi for 3 people it was my daughter's 21st birthday. The ingredients were for the most part ok but the salmon row tasted warm and kinda old. The flying fish row was good. I was sad they did not carry sweet tea for my daughter.....soda, water or booze or hot tea were the only drink options.
Sean Brotherton
Amazing spot with quality options! Sushi was 10/10 with delicious rice and fish, rolls were well put together and wonderful, tonkatsu pork ramen was to die for and the tempura jalapeno poppers were over the top tasty. Overall my family and I had a great time here and had great service. Will be back soon for the all you can eat option 👍
Marika Vissak
AYCE is $28 for lunch and $36 for dinner. It compares SUPER favorably to similar-priced sushi restaurants on the east coast -- excellent variety of rolls, attentive staff that tells you which roll is which, very good salmon and good sushi chefs.
Justin Kulick
The best sushi in middle Tennessee and I've tried then all me and my brother are sushi heads. Nowhere else comes close, the quality and flavors are magical
Chris Delpire
Had the all you can eat, and I'd say it was worth it. Suishi was good. Sesame balls were good. Spring rolls were very good.
R T
The food was good. I had the fried rice, the presentation was somewhat lacking (which is fine by me and not unusual for fried rice), the spices were a little odd (lots of pepper it seems like and no sauce on the meat), and the ingredient choice was unusual. I've not seen peas in Japanese fried rice before and lots of white onion with very little green onion. The taste was good though. My friend had the seafood udon and it looked amazing and tasted great.
Overall, I'd definitely go again to try some of the other menu items and say it was worth the visit.
Aleksander Lucy
Last time I came in, I popped in to grab a quick bite to eat between showings at the theater across the street. Pleased to say I got quick service, and the hand rolls were quite delicious. Not terribly expensive either (pretty standard for Sushi type places).
Kady Foshaug
My boyfriend and I love going to Sushi 88! We were sad to see that they had to temporarily suspend their all you can eat menu option. Other than that, the sushi is fresh and tastes good, the atmosphere is clean and welcoming and the service has always been good for us. Especially Lucas who is normally our server and he does a great job! He is very kind to us and has always made sure we were taken care of. Highly recommend going to Sushi 88 if you are in the mood for sushi!
Marney Pollack
Our favorite sushi place in town. Incredibly friendly owner and staff - always attentive and kind. The food is delicious and very reasonably priced. Their miso soup is perfect and the sushi is fresh. We love this locally owned spot!
Alex Arriaga
Phenomenal experience, come here on a weekly basis and the staff always greets me and my party warmly.
Very tasty sushi considering you’re in Nashville, not somewhere on the coast.
Made to order and all you can eat, favorite spot in Nash for sushi.
Mushroom Red
Food was amazing! Great place to have fun with friends. Definitely will come back
C B (Mxyl)
All you can eat is very good and worth the cost. Since finding it have been at least 5 times. Service is great. Place is clean. Sushi is delicious.
Emily S
This is our favorite sushi spot in Nashville, hands down! The all-you-can-eat sushi menu is fantastic, there is something for everyone’s taste, whether raw or tempura. The sashimi is always fresh and delicious. The location is great, you can find parking nearby, and the atmosphere is laid back and cozy. Also, the restrooms are really clean!
Kevin Zavala
Decent enough sushi. No longer all you can eat though. Regular prices aren’t worth the quality they give. The “all you can eat” was the only real reason to go here.
R H
The staff was kind and efficient. The sushi is comparable to other restaurants in the area and at a good price. I will definitely eat here again.
Nick Vallese
The only place in Nashville I’ll go for sushi— consistently phenomenal food, great atmosphere, clean environment, & a kind, hard working staff. Very reasonably priced as well. The best.
Eric Newsome
One very positive note, while the place was quite busy we had excellent service. The food was simply not good. We ordered a noodle dish with beef, and the beef was almost inedible--very tough, very dry, not seasoned.
Kerrigan Clark
Great staff and great food. Always cozy and the sushi is quality. I feel like they give more than average fish slices which I appreciate
Erica Halpern
Sushi 88 is our go-to Sushi restaurant. The lemon sushi roll is always fresh and delicious and their chicken friend rice is the best we've ever had. I can go on about all of my favorite apps and entrees but as I wait for my to-go order (they are always so fast), I just wanted to take the time to finally write a review for our favorite sushi spot!
Katherine Young
This restaurant has amazing servers who are so kind and very on top of things. Food is delicious (esp dynamite roll) and the playlist is full of bangers. Top tier environment.
Mike Shafer
Excellent service, but we thought the Sushi for the price wasn't that great. The Wasabi looked different, and the Ginger tasted different? The Edamame, dumplings and Sushi were mediocre for the price.
Kelly Michael Skelton
Wonderful all you can eat sushi for under $30! Beautiful and tasty sushi rolls and nigiri. We had the salmon + avocado, salmon and squid. They also have nice general Tso chicken and gyoza. A+ experience. Indoor and outdoor seating.
Nicolas Schaede
Great service, and even more amazing sushi! This is a must if you come to Nashville! Hopefully they bring back the all you can eat !
Samuel Edmondson
The sushi here is really good, and the all you can eat is a pretty good deal.
Joshua Crouch
Pleasant and relaxing place to eat. Great sushi and staff is very friendly. Food was good and fish were great quality! Highly recommend!
Yara Channel
I have been coming here for two years and I can confidently say they have awesome sushi choices and amazing staff always attending to your needs. Also a plus bathrooms are kept very neatly!
Ben Reiff
This place is great! The sushi is delicious and the buffet was a fantastic deal. I hope they bring it back :)
Amber Graber
Our go-to sushi spot!! We love coming here for the quality, location, and price. We hope they bring all-you-can-eat back soon!
Crawdawg
We loved the sushi and Japanese noodle dish! Inside was nice and the staff was good. We will be back soon!
Sarah Brayley
This sushi restaurant has incredible quality food and a wonderful staff that cares greatly for their customers. It is an incredibly pleasant place to eat and the food is wonderful.
Boogie Man
Outstanding. Best sushi bar I've ever eaten. It would melt in my mouth. I ate and ate till I couldn't eat no more. I do think the waitress could have been more helpful and friendly. But it was worth the taste of the food.
Patrick Meng
Food itself tasted as good as it looked.
I had the all you can eat, and the beef pieces were especially good tasting. You'd think that since it's all you can eat, and a small piece, it would just be acceptably good, but the teriyaki beef was incredibly good, and I had several.
They even have a student discount.
I went with a larger group of friends.
They have seating both completely inside the restaurant, and this area that's kind of outside. That's where they managed to fit us.
Unfortunately, because the area was kind of out the way, servers visited us infrequently.
Considering their model of all you can eat is you order from them, this resulted in comically long wait times.
If you go at a not super busy time, in a smaller group, I'd assume everything would be tasty and on time.
It's great here, just don't get too ambitious and come here with 7 other people.
Nick Stepka
I loved all the you can eat sushi.
Updated from 5 to 3. They added an 18% service charge on our bill! The 3 previous times we went we were not charged this fee. I was going to tip 20%+ but since they added the service fee I didn't tip!
Carrie Finnegan
Cute place. We took our three kids and ordered a little of everything. Our teen son got the all you can eat sushi option, our tween son got a bento box and the rest of us ordered a la carte. There weren't really any leftovers and it all tasted good. It's wasnt my fave sushi, but it was good and satisfied my craving. Staff was attentive and friendly.
Roxane Pajoul
Ordered two nights ago through Uber Eats. They ruined my date night with my partner. We were both quite frustrated with our food.
Positive: food is fresh.
Huge negative: when you order sushi rolls, you must pick between "one piece" and "six pieces". There are no pictures so you have no idea what the difference is. If you select six pieces, you pay an extra $2-3 per roll. I thought the one piece was one long skinny roll that I would just have to cut myself so that's what I selected.
Turns out it's actually more of a cone burrito sushi (not sure how to describe it differently but see the picture for yourself) where they cram a few ingredients. I am pretty sure it allows the restaurant to use less ingredients and save a few bucks while charging people the regular price. If you select the six pieces option, then you end up paying extra ($15 + tax on your order for 2 people) for what would be regular sushi at any other place.
** Update after owner's response**
I went back to the menu on Uber Eats and it is true that "hand roll" is indicated next to "one piece".
I honestly had no idea what that meant when I ordered but I can see how people who eat at that restaurant in person know what it is. Since there is somewhat of an indication of what to expect, I have changed my review from 1 to 3 stars.
I think pictures of the food would help for those who do not know the place.
Sarah Hwang
My advice - stick to sashimi and nigiri. Rolls are a hit or miss. I liked the tempura roll and salmon avocado roll. Otherwise, the star was the sashimi. The salmon sashimi was a nice thick cut and the spicy salmon reminded me of the flavors of Hawaii, SO good! Finally a place that does spicy tuna/salmon right. The shrimp tempura and gyoza were fresh and crispy. Gyoza is green and has a slightly different flavor from the usual gyoza but it was still delicious. Green tea ice cream was great! My friend had the mango ice cream and loved it as well. We found street parking right in front of the restaurant, they said we could park at the bank lot across the street.
Samuel Gregory
Great sushi. Love the deep fried options! Plz bring back all you can eat Sushi!
Levi Scheu
We got takeout and it was truly great. In a town full of either WAY to expensive sushi or truly terrible sushi, this one stands out. We really blew it out and got way more than we needed (we were celebrating), and with tip walked away for $100. Quality was awesome, and the price was so much better than you’ll get at any other quality place in town. This will be our go to sushi from now on I’m sure, and it’s a 25min drive for us!
Cori Shipp
Very nice first visit. Had tempura, sui mai, udon, tonkatsu, the works. The staff is very friendly and polite. The food is in adequate quantities so you don’t over eat. The price for being able to do whatever is very reasonable. Overall very nice experience
Kerri Rios
My favorite sushi restaurant in the area! Sadly, they recently quit the all you can eat menu (hopefully temporarily). It was great value for great food! I still ordered my favorite rolls, the Excellent & Black Dragon. They've always been so tasty. The spring rolls offer great bang for your buck as well. Service is always friendly and prompt. I enjoy coming here and love to sit on the covered patio.
Kait Huffman
This now sushi 88. We got a Groupon for $39 all you can eat sushi for two(tax and tip not included). But when we got there it was all you can eat dinner for $22 a person. Seems like a good deal but it averages out to the same price you'd pay at any other place.
The service was fine
The fish wasn't amazing.
THEY DON'T HAVE SAKI!
Misty M
This place never disappoints. They do get busy so I aim for less popular times, but either way I always leave smiling.
Jose Gomez
Amazing all you can eat!—high quality and good variety. Exceptional service and atmosphere. We’re regulars.
Del Panzarini
Ever since the son of the owner took over this place has really turned around. The only true all you can eat in Nashville, with really fresh sushi. Spoke with the owner about where and how he sources his fish, very impressive. You won't be disappointed.
Kanimia Jodejuan
EDIT: They no longer offer all you can eat
The food was delicious, the price was great, and there is indoor and outdoor seating. So we were able to enjoy the good weather!
Anne-Marie
This place was great! Quick service and very nice people.
Ersin Seker
My favorite restaurant around here.
Timothy Dzialo
Not only our favor sushi place in Nashville, but one of our favorite restaurants! Great service and the food is delicious every time.
indigo eliora.
kindest staff in town, amazing food. never once had a bad experience and will always return. 🖤 …
Alicia Martinez
Pretty good for the all you can eat. We ordered a huge spread and were able to finish it! My stomach was a little upset after, but not sure if it was the amount I ate or the sushi itself.
Flavor of the sushi was decent. Some rolls were better than others. Nothing too notable. Looking forward to try other places to compare better.
Samantha H.
Had a wonderful lunch. Staff was very attentive. Got the "all you can eat sushi" option for about $25 per person. Everything is made to order. Don't feel pressured to order all at once, when your finished with your first round, they just bring you another sushi menu to keep going. It is posted that they will charge regular price for left over/unwanted food left on your plate. It's to discourage excessive ordering with food waste. This wasn't a problem for us, as we were careful with the portions ordered and finished everything brought out. Delicious!
Nathan Bryson
Went here for lunch for the first time. I had heard mixed things but like to see things for myself. As soon as I walked in the staff was very friendly and got me seated. I ordered my food and it al came out earlier than I had expected for time of day. The food itself was AWSOME. I really liked it, it was better than many other sushi restaurants I've been to. I highly recommend giving this place shot. I was not disappointed.
Loren Nelson
The white Tuna....aka butter fish was very fresh and tasty!! Everything was fresh and tasted great!! The service was good and the selection was amazing!!! Excellent value and selection!!! We will be back!!
chrystal hensel
One of our favorite sushi spots! The food is always delicious and the prices are decent. Highly recommend!
Franka Sindičić
Food is amazing and the servers too!
The atmosphere in the restaurant is amazing!
Definitely a place to go!
Zeta Chambers
The sushi was good, but not worth the all you can eat special. It's $30 something a person to not eat a lot or to get a variety. My bill came out to $90 for 2 people and I've eaten more just ordering a variety off another menu and my bill only being $50.
Matthew Maisano
Outstanding! I read through the other reviews, I can't see how they aren't all 5 stars. The service, and all of the food was outstanding. It's a buffet! You mark what you want on paper and they go make it! it's fresh, and real quality sushi and all the sides, all unlimited! Dinner price was $25 a person. Apps, deserts are all included! Awesome little find!
Courtney Affarian
Staff was friendly. Atmosphere was inviting. Food was fantastic. All in all a great experience.
Lacie Constable
It’s really tasty sushi but the problem is is that it’s very expensive and it’s not exactly high quality ingredients they are giving to you for that price. They add a lot of rice to the rolls to try to get you to get full faster. It’s still very tasty though and I enjoyed the times I went here. However it’s almost 80$ for 2 people to have all you can eat sushi at dinner time. It’s just not worth that price.
Rany Octaria
The sushi place is nice to hang out low key with friends because it doesn't have the same atmosphere as many other busy sushi places in town. However, the menu is a bit more expensive than other, like then 8 dollar agedashi tofu compared to 4 dollars in other restaurant. The sushi rolls tastes OK, but small and unremarkable for a 10 dollar sushi rolls. I think this place worth the value only if you are super hungry and decide to hit their 34 dollar unlimited sushi where you can order sashimi and rolls with unlimited quantity. Other than that circumstance, I think I would skip it.
Kirk G Meyer
Went between lunch and dinner. Food was very good and reasonably priced. Staff was extremely friendly.
Laura Conley
Fast friendly service, good food. Recommended to us by our AirBnB host.
Alison Settles
BRING BACK ALL YOU CAN EAT SUSHI I AM DEVASTATED. IT WAS SO GOOD AND CONVENIENT AN AMAZING DEAL
Wendell Benjamin
The best Sushi experience ever! The service was impeccable and an atmosphere that allows you to enjoy the entire meal.
Elizabeth Mazariegos
I love to walk there for some sushi! My favorite ones are the Red and Green dragon 🤗🤗 Also love the Miso Soup 🤤 …
Jennifer Sanchez
Hands down some of the best sushi I have ever had. Service was fast and the waiter was courteous.
Emily Lucke
We ordered vegan rolls, salads and tempura for pick up from Sushi 88 and the person taking our order was so helpful and polite, there were lots of vegan options, which was really exciting! Unfortunately after I placed the order and went to pick it up, I realized we had ordered at the wrong restaurant: we live in Canada and have a sushi 88 in our town! I called back Sushi 88, Nashville to explain and they were so gracious about my mistake and I felt terrible but they told me not to worry. So although we didn’t get to try the food, their customer service is warm, knowledgeable and accommodating. We can’t wait to be able to visit Nashville so we can have some vegan sushi at your restaurant!
Shady Brothers
Best customer service, kind people and good food ! I come here every weekend !
Nathan Ramsey
Food and selection was great as always. But customer service was Severely Lacking tonight. The octopus sushi was pretty good.
John Cattini
My favorite sushi place in Nashville! Service is always amazing. Great deal. Lucas is a wonderful guy and takes care of his customers.
Tae Kang
This place doesn’t have wide variety sushi, but Sushi was good, surprisingly.
Service was good.
I think this place the most okay place for sushi in Nashville
Damaris Luna
If you want sushi, come here best sushi in town
Erik Davis
A little expensive but worth it with delicious food and friendly service!
Judah Last
The place is amazing great sushi bring back AYCE
Hailey Hunt
Food was tasty but not worth the prices. I saw that the prices were a little too high but I thought it would be because of the quality of ingredients. I got the Black Dragon Roll which was a California roll with bbq eel on it...for $15. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a California roll for more than $8 (which they have on their menu as well). We took our kiddos in and was looking forward to an udon dish, which we ordered and waited for and then our server came back and mentioned they didn’t have any udon at all. I was disappointed by the tempura as well. All in all, the sushi was delicious but after $140 for lunch, I felt kind of robbed. The woman working behind the bar was super sweet to my little guy and the staff seemed nice. Biggest issue was with the price.
Justin Carway
Great sushi and the all you can eat is a great deal! The servers were also very sweet and respectful.
Broke Lender
Place is amazing. Loved the sushi some of the best in this part of town. I love the little quaint neighborhood it’s in. For those who are complaining about price, don’t forget that we just went through a pandemic. The supply chain is about to cripple, freight costs have increased astronomically, cost of goods have increased nearly 30% in the last 4 months. I run a business in Nashville and it’s alarming how many people think things will stay the same. Stop leaving businesses bad reviews for dynamics you don’t understand. Inflation and recession are around the corner so support your local restaurants and leave a good review if you enjoyed the food.
Brad Baker
I’ve ordered delivery from here several times and it’s always amazing. I don’t get too adventurous, and mostly stick to Salmon, Tuna, and YT, but it’s always huge portions of fish and really delicious.
I’ve eaten at some of the country’s most well-renowned sushi joints, and while this most definitely is not in that class, it’s spectacular for what it is: reasonably priced sushi that hits the spot. Might go order some more right now.
Nicole Holmes
Some of the most fresh and flavorful sushi I've experienced in Nashville! The all you can eat sushi dinner for $31.99 is worth every. Single. Penny!! I will definitely be back!
Natural Hair Affair
This place has all you can eat sushi, tempura, and many other items. I know what you're thinking eww. Sushi just out in an all you can buffet. Its NOT a buffet. Everything is made to order, just all you can eat. You get them in manageable quantities, so you don't over order. Be careful though. I heard that if you order more than you can eat, they charge you. Not sure if it's true. It wasn't an issue for me. Its possible I was being obtuse when my colleague explained it. Either way, the food was delicious and well worth the price.
Sandra Miselem
I am baffled at the bad reviews. I've had sushi all over the county (California included!) and this place is great! It's not TRADITIONAL because it's Nashville, not Japan, but it's delicious. The sashimi was perfect. Fresh, fresh fresh!
Every roll I got was brought out fairly quickly and was full of flavor. All the rolls are really creative, great use of tempura and various sauces, and fantastic mixes of flavors I hadn't expected. It's definitely not your typical sushi place, and I guarantee you haven't tried at least half the menu anywhere else. It's a great downtown spot, and parking in the area is about $2.
I had a wonderful time and I'll definitely be back!
Meiyan Wu
Every dish is average.
Jacob Efird
Yo they are so welcoming here and so nice and the food is so good
Adan6001
Wish some of the fish was fresher. But it was really good for the price.
Andi Jane
I really enjoy the all you can eat sushi here! They charge a little more than some places, but they don't exclude things like Hamachi from the menu which makes it worth it. I wish more of the all u can eat rolls were in smaller portions so dining for one were easier, but it's great if you're with someone else.
equake 2
There is a large selection of items to choose from the menu, all of which that I tried did not disappoint. The all you can eat sushi special allowed for us to sample what Sushi 88 had to offer. Our waitress was very friendly and was happy to answer any questions we had regarding the menu. Overall, had a great lunch here and I look forward to returning!
Sarah Miele
Great affordable sushi in Nahville. They do not have super fancy rolls and types of fish. But they have all the basics you'd want in a sushi place and a great all you can eat option. Very laid back and casual vibe. Unfortunately they no longer offer a student discount under the new management.
Annie M
This is my favorite Asian restaurant in Nashville. In a city that is somewhat lacking in good Eastern-inspired food, Sushi 88 is a gem. I love the all-you-can-eat concept, and it's a great place to take big friend groups. I have found a new definition of a full stomach from going here. Save room for their dessert though!
Robert Foutch
Great place, I think it's tbe BEST around. I can't wait for them to reopen the dining room. I hope tbey are safe. I drive 40 miles to eat at SUSHI 88. I wish the staff the best. Everyone should check this place out.
D'Angelo Bostick (Ryuukage)
It was really amazing food was great and it was all made to order.
Bill Stallings
Independent review: This is a great place to eat, has high quality menu items (not just sushi). The staff is very nice and the restaurant is kind of small (a plus in my book). Definitely go. This has made it to my list of places to revisit.
Comparative review: I usually dine at Sushi Train and have to say that this place is definitely worth it. There are definitely differences between the two, so I will list them and you can decide which is best for you. Sushi 88 is fresh per order. S. T. has pre-prepared sushi made fresh, but it can sit for a little while. Flavor is slightly better at Sushi 88, but both are good. You have to wait for sushi at 88, but quick selection is at ST. The price is slightly higher at 88, but worth the wait. I feel 88 is more centrally located. Based on your time restrictions, budget, and distance, I hope this helped.
Aaron Gant
Great lunch. All you can eat from the sushi menu for $29. Order, eat, order more or be done. Nice people.
Kim Coleman
Great sushi and good price. Soup and salad were on point.
Doris Graves
This is my favorite sushi spot. I take friends all the time and then they end up taking their friends. Yes if you go on a weekend night, it's loud and crowded. If you go early or on a week night I find it more pleasant. The loud techno isn't playing and the service is better. Sushi wise, it has such an extensive menu that there is something for everyone. Never had a bad piece. On a couple of occasions something wasn't quite right and they would fix it no problem. I have had their cooked food (when I was pregnant) and that was good too. Wouldn't take the kids on a weekend night but besides that have had great success with taking older kids. They are impressed with all the sea creatures you can eat. Their crab cakes are amazing! And yes I have friends who crave their rice balls. Go and try it!
Erica Brown
Great sushi selection (even for vegetarians)! I really like how it is all you can eat on a variety of dishes, so you can try out different types of sushi, appetizers, and small meals. Also, the staff is friendly and attentive.
Robert Scholz (Bob)
In general I am very particular about my sushi. I went on a Tuesday the sushi both artistic and delicious. Even if I had not had a Groupon and paid full price it would have been worth it. It is all you can eat so I tried various new things I definitely recommend the tuna and banana. Normally I do not like local salmon or even mackerel both of which I tried and were absolutely delicious exquisitely prepared. It was hard for me to find a way to give this rating because it is indeed Sushi 88 now. Highly recommended both for dating and business.
MsEvoRocks
All you can eat Sushi (sharing not allowed) was delicious. We also had fried chicken with rice, which was very disappointing for the price.
Dustin Win
Really great all around. The appetizers have a huge variety, and they're included with the all you can eat sushi. I strongly recommend the General Tso's Chicken, the sauce was amazing on it. All of your made to order sushi comes out super fast, and smells and tastes fresh. Free dessert w/AYCE is a nice touch.
Pamela Wentzel
We're from out of town visiting relatives. Came across this hidden gem. We loved everything from the taste of the food to the friendly service to the price! Wonderful! My daughter loved the all you can eat sushi and me, not being a sushi lover, found a meal that was delicious. Will be eating here again on our next visit.
李亚丞
Great food fast service and great value
Alexander McComb
All you can eat 🍣 for a price. If you know that going in, and willing to pay $50 minium for two people with no drinks, then it's not that bad. Sushi kind of taste like what you would expect for all you can eat, although they can throw out some rolls very quickly and the entire menu is all you can eat, not just sushi. …
Bartholomew Roland
First off, the service here was delightful. I can't say enough incredible things about how our server was why I would recommend this place to anyone. We chatted for some time, and she checked in regularly to take care of everything. One of the better experiences I've had in Nashville.
That said, the food and drinks were also clutch. Their sushi bar was great and their smoked eel rolls kicked ass. Saki bombs are what's up.
Lexi Boudreau
Sushi is excellent! Will definitely be back to try the all-you-can-eat sushi option.
Jon Gallagher
I would die and go to Hell if Sushi 88 is what they sell.
Nycvybe amr
Great sushi. The all you can eat menus is absolutely worth it. Parking is available at pay lot across the street. The place is big but not so big that its impersonal. Been there twice so far and quality is consistent
Haley Adams
[March 2019 Update]: There has been a change in management. The Kroger coupon is no longer available. The 15% off student discount is also no longer available.

I eat here more often than I should, but it's the best sushi deal in town! Get all you can eat.
You can also get 15% off if you're a student or if you use the coupon on the back of your Kroger receipt.
Diane DiCarlo
Sushi and service were both just-okay. The place was nearly empty, but the waiter didn't seem to be all that attentive. AIthough i didn't love the flavoring of the rice, the fish on the sushi tasted fresh enough. Not awful, but not good enough to recommend either.

Probably the best ayce sushi in Nashville.
I'm not a stranger to ayce sushi. I've been to multiple ayce sushi in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, St Louis, and Korea. I've also been to 2 ayce sushi place in Nashville, sushi 88 and sushi trains.
There's a few things that set sushi 88 apart from other place.
1/ The shrimp tempura is great. Best sauce of all the place I've tried.
2/ The only ayce sushi I've been to that offers sashimi in its menu. And the sashimi even taste decent.
3/ They actually try to make sushi rice, not just steamed rice.
4/ Great accompany dishes. I've never tried grilled mackerel, until I came here. It's a must try.
5/ My wife love the fried rice here. Even though I told her not to eat it, to save room in her stomach for sushi.
What's not so good?
1/ They automatically add 18% tips onto the final bill. I can get why they do it this way, especially in a touristy town like Nash-Vegas
2/ Sometimes, the fish is very fresh. Sometimes, it is not. I get it though. This is Nashville, not Los Angeles. Sometimes you get fresh fish, sometimes you don't. If you want to get fresh fish all the time, you probably should go try Los Angeles.
3/ Waiter stop visiting your table after you ordered 4 to 5 times. Probably their wait to telling you to pack up and get the check 😂
All in all, this is a solid 4 stars place nationally, 5 stars locally.
chris pipkin
It gets worse each time I go. The menu gets smaller (removing the higher quality items), the price gets higher, the quality of what stays on the menu gets worse and the service diminishes..... I miss RuSans
Gordon Conaway
Great sushi for a very reasonable price. You could easily spend five times as much at another sushi restaurant, no exaggeration. The fish is fresh and of good quality. If you're looking for something super frou-frou, this is probably not for you. But personally when I go out for AYCE sushi, I'm not ashamed to admit, I'm usually hungry and enjoy eating it promptly rather than sitting there staring at it for very long. The service is very quick. I will say it's always warm inside on hot days, something wrong with the AC or circulation. And the music is also on the loud side. But the pros far outweigh my few critiques. On nice days I sit outside on their patio with a large house Saki and Miso soup and wait for the feast, and it's wonderful. Overall I am very impressed with how far this place has come since it re-branded, my go-to for sushi hands down.

All you can eat and delicious too

Went here for the lunch all-you-can-eat on a Tuesday. This was clearly not a busy hour as they were a little understaffed, and only 2 other groups of people were here. I came alone and was seated at the bar. Maybe that was the reason, but the servers seemed to give the whole "get me in and get me out quickly" vibe that made everything feel rushed.
Price for lunch was $17, but if you're a student you get a 15% discount (not sure how long this will last), making this a good place to go with friends if you aren't in a rush.
The food was good, the sushi more so than the cooked kitchen items. Unfortunately the lunch selection is much more limited than the dinner selection (e.g. no tuna), but I had a good spread of things from their selection and wasn't disappointed. Regrettably, sashimi was not available for lunch. Their sushi is solid, and even for all-you-can-eat, there is a good amount of fish in rolls and nigiri. As this is all-you-can-eat, you fill out a sheet with the items you want, and they'll deliver you a plate of all your sushi and other bits and pieces. This can take a bit longer, but you'll know all of your sushi was made to order and hasn't been sitting out. Leftover food is discouraged, and you'll be charged extra if there's any left over.
The atmosphere is pretty cookie-cutter in step all the new "hip" restaurants in the area: lower lighting, a few tv screens tuned to sports channels, knickknacks around the walls, patio seating, pop music coming from hidden speakers, exposed ductwork in the ceiling... Typical of most new non-chain restaurants I've seen in Nashville. Not bad, but not interesting either.
James Fuston
I was very surprised the first time I walked in, the dubstep/euro dance music remixes playing were not the usual atmosphere for a sushi bar. The interior is liked a darkened 50s diner, worn leather booth seats and all. The sushi, while expensive, is good; however, the kitchen has closed multiple times this year for health code violations. That said, I've yet to have a bad experience with the food. Although the service can be slack at times, it's a place worth checking out.
Aumannm
Great food and service! We frequent this place for work lunches for the most part, but have done the all-you-can-eat dinner too. The prices are really good for AYCE, especially for my male friends, who can pack away 9 or 10 rolls each. Plus, it's the most extensive AYCE menu I have seen, including appetizer options, soups, salads, and different kinds of sushi rolls and sashimi.
jeremy seagraves
I have been coming here for about 2 months now and have NEVER been disappointed! They have great food, friendly staff, and speedy service! I would recommend this place to anyone who loves sushi or authentic Japanese food! Plus, the purple Haze saki is to die for! Thanks Sushi 88 for being awesome!!!
Derrick Grace
Fine restaurant. All-you-can-eat sushi for $23 is awesome. This also includes other menu items such as miso, egg rolls, etc. except drinks. The food is great and this place should be a staple for anyone who loves or wants to try sushi. Recommended.
andrew ekelem
I ordered way too much, it was awesome! It's an all you can eat place but you get to choose off the menu, they're very quick with the food so it makes sense to just order a bit at a time, noted for my next visit. 19$ for the weekend lunch
Li'l Finay
The variety of foods on the menu range from Japanese to Chinese. All you can eat items such as sushi, tempura, gyoza, fried rice, sesame chicken, general tso's chicken, eggrolls, cheese wontons, some dim sum items are just a few examples. I think you can also order a la carte if all you can eat is not your preference. They also have a nice selection of deserts. Everything is made fresh when you order it. I recommend the terriyaki salmon belly. It was a big hit with our family. The staff was friendly & the service was great. The restaurant is clean & the space is cozy. Make sure you have a big appetite so you can try a little bit of everything.
Yevgeniy Mashnitskiy
Pretty good sushi, but the prices in the menu pictures aren't current. I was expecting to pay about 25-28 for what I ordered and it was 43 and some change. Not the end of the world, but ye be warned
Dustin Smith
Really delicious AYCE sushi.
Lóre Stevens
I always love their all-you-can-eat sushi. The only slight downside is occasionally the service is a little subpar or an order will come out wrong. Nothing major. Even so, my personal favorite restaurant in Nashville!
Dee Conaway
If you go on a weekend and get the all you can eat be prepared to be missing parts of your order. They get super busy and stuff gets missed. That said, the food is really good. If you can go on a slower week night you'll have a better experience.
John Smith
Came here today for an early lunch since my friend had a half off depot certificate. Ended up getting the buffet and also trying the mochi cake dessert and vanilla ice cream. So the place looks much more like a bar than sushi place, but it seems like it would really double as both during the night, which I'm sure works pretty well for the area. That being said, lets get to the sushi.
I tried mostly all of the sushi I saw available except the ones that had a lot of avocado, and they changed out like 5 dishes when I was there (it was like noon so they'd been open about an hour). Now let me start out by saying I love fried food, so the friend sushi is the kind I like best. That being said, I also feel like it's really an americanized version of sushi, done just so american get over the whole "raw food" deal. Either way, I think it's great to offer fried sushi, either with the rice fried around or just the inside fried a bit, since it adds variety. Mostly I think the sushi tasted pretty ok, but nothing really stood out as "amazing" to me, you know? If I didn't like the fried sushi so much, I might have given this place a 2 instead I imagine.
Meanwhile, the mochi cake dessert was pretty delicious, although it literally had no ice cream despite saying that it did in the menu.... and it seemed a bit overpriced for the quantity provided (5.75). Still, ten bucks for the buffet isn't too bad, so I might be back sometime if I really feel like fried sushi.
Jesse Young
Can't beat the price for the quality. Insanely good for an all you can eat sushi restaurant. Rivals most other "high end" sushi places in Nashville.
Rachel LeCroix
Great sushi with friendly staff. Service is always fast as well
David Savage
Seen the place, never went. Saw an ad months afterwards, never went. Saw a Groupon offer, passed. Then, when asked where I wanted to have my birthday dinner, I suggested Sushi 88. Let's give it a try. After years of knowing of it's existence, I finally said, "what the heck, let's try it." I gave this place 5 stars because of the service, it was quick. There was only one hiccup...... On the all-you-can-eat option, we were a party of 4 (2 couple's) when told that we could put our orders on one piece of paper, we thought, why not? Saves paper. OK! However, my friend and I ordered the same roll. Both, came on the same plate. Not a big deal. His girlfriend's roll and my hand roll came on the same plate, a lil annoying, but still not a big deal, because I had a hand roll. Problem came when the roll that I ordered came sandwiched between 2 other rolls that I didn't order came on the same plate. All 3 rolls had the same finishing sauce, but, my friends date confused my roll with one of hers. Oi Vey! The table was a bit small for the 4 of us, but, I take fault in that, we were given the option to sit at a larger table, however, opted for the 4 top because it was a Saturday night and thought about other customers. We could've taken the larger table and been ok. The restaurant itself was pretty cool. Parking could be a problem, although we didn't have problems. It is Belcourt, Hillsboro Village, Vandy, so, yeah. The food? I rate above average. As far as AYCE restaurants, this is probably my #1 for Sushi and busted into my top 5 for Sushi restaurants, overall.
Sherrie Upton
Found this awsome restaurant! It's excellent! We ordered many things and everything was excellent! Wait staff are friendly and helpful have already referred to my friends! My new fav sushi japanese restaurant in Nashville!
Mark Lopez
I love the spicy tuna rolls here. The combination of siratcha and eel sauce is fantastic. The open air seating is nice. My main complaint is that sometimes it is quite loud. It is something of a hangout on weekend nights.
Connie Park
Not bad, but not really good either. High prices for the quality. They put WAY too much rice on their rolls, so only a little bit of sushi. Techno music was annoying and loud. Overall, unimpressed. I wouldn't go back, but since I had a Groupon, I went.
Robert Foutch
Best place in NASHVILLE . You get what you pay for.
If you like Sushi, this is the place. I hope they open for dine in soon! I do respect them for being safe and wish them the best.
Ya Girl Sarah
The best sushi is Nashville!
Rob Morrow
Aw man, this is probably my new fave Sushi place. All the rolls were amazing and the fried rice is incredible!!!
Cristin Hayes
I haven't really tried much of the sushi, but the spicy salmon/tuna and special rolls are pretty good. Would come again.
Ben Emery
Great place to eat!!!! All you can eat sushi and other sides at a great price it is not your typical all you can eat sushi joint the quality of the sushi is through the roof for the price! Definitely a must try you won't be disappointed!
Jenn Smith
Not the best Ru san's location I have ever been. The lunch buffet had a nice variety but the sushi was out for a while since the rice was dried out on the edges. The appetizers and sides were definitely not kept warm enough; they were mostly room temperature. The GA/NC locations had a lot more to offer for lunch.
Caleb Mullen
Great food! Great value!
Karla Valdivieso Dominguez
I went there for dinner, it work as a buffet but you ask for the food that you want to eat. Some of the dishes are ready, like sushi and rice but when we ask for noodles it took too much time. The place is close to vanderbilt university so you always find students. They have an open area. You can also call and order the food to go.
Zachary Stevens
Great service with made to order sushi and plenty of choices. Don't be afraid to ask questions or what a specific dish is or you might end up eating someone else's food.
Yinan Liu
I got udon. It was not worth $16. Sushi was ok. Maybe if one wants lots of sushi but does not care about the quality too much, the sushi buffet here is a good choice.
Mitz Loo
I had one of the best things I have eaten at Rusan's. It was a rice ball. So simple, yet so amazingly delicious. I often think of that rice ball - so sweet, so satisfying. I think of that amazing rice ball and cry because I will never taste its goodness again! See the thing is - the chefs at Rusan's do not seem to follow the same recipes. The second time I went back to Rusan's, I ordered the rice ball. I was so very excited to taste it, but the thing that was served to me was nothing like my first rice ball. It was dry and was not sweet. It was totally different! I tried to talk to the waiter and explain, but unfortunately many of the staff do not speak english well. I also ordered pork gyoza and was given lobster gyoza. I explained this to my server and was told no, it was pork. I was right and he was wrong, and he was a bit of a jerk about it. So I do not know. I do not think I will go back. It is too sad.
Izzy McAlister
Gotta love the all you can eat. Easy service. Overall chill place to enjoy some sushi
Kyle Kozma
This is the best Sushi place in Nashville. I love it.. anytime I can go, im there...yum yum yum...plus the buffet price for lunch, OH MY GOD, love it.....suggest you visit and belly up to the table or bar....
Thx
Jaffer Ibrahim
Delicious sushi buffet at a good price. Unfortunately it lacked nigiri and it was quite hectic when I went there so the service wasn't stellar, but the buffet alone is worth it.
Ace Copeland
Sooo much food for a small price and the sushi is actually on the good side. Definitely an excellent value and the staff is friendly. Try the avocado pizza!
Larry J Odom
We enjoyed it everything was made to order and fast some of the portions were a little small but good , better then sushi train , just wish it wasnt so high to eat at sushi 88
Valene Knutson
The sushi was amazing!! The Excellent Roll is bomb! The service was prompt and very welcoming. Highly recommend!
Ashley Baxter
Overall, this is a treat for us when we visit the Gulch. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is great. However, we've had some experiences where our food wasnt consistent from visit to visit. I'm unsure if that was due to different chefs or daily freshness or what.
Crystal Huang
Simple restaurant, cozy but not claustrophobic. If you're looking for standard sushi and seafood fare for a reasonable price this is the spot.
YoKasta Martinez Langford
Staff is always friendly, sushi is always fresh, and the all-you-can-eat lunch buffet for only $12 is the best deal in town!! It's my favorite restaurant!!
Brian Milbrett
The sushi was fantastic. The all you can eat is they way to go.
Satan Raspberries
I absolutely love this place. I’ve never been to it, only ordered their food from Uber Eats but let me tell you 👏🏼👏🏼 I miss living in Nashville so I could get their food through Uber Eats. It was the best way to end a long day. …
Matthew Peach
Good food and selection, and I like that you can ask for more food as you eat. $20 a head feels a little steep for their lunch menu though.
Julia Estes
Best food, service, & staff!! A must go if you are in Nashville
Roseline Ojo
The fish was fresh and the service was good. The good came out super fast and most everything tasted great. It's worth the money and I'll be back.

Went to see what the fuss was about over this place but wasn't impressed. Buffet Sushi has never been my thing though. Still searching for an inexpensive Sushi spot downtown Nashville..
Josh Vick
I've gone to Ru sans for lunch for a number of years and love it! Sadly I showed up today and the place is gutted front to back...no food, just construction workers. I'm not sure if its moved or being reno'ed but I was sorely disappointed along with my friends I brought who had never been. Does anyone know if it will reopen????
william rhinehardt Sr.
The food over all was good however the wait staff was too busy on their phones to check on us regularly... if they had been more attentive I would give this four stars
Robert Wolk
Wonderful all you can eat sushi and really good gyoza
Will Smith
Great sushi and fun atmosphere. Its one over the only sushi restaurants that actually gives you enough food. I always leave the place full.
Adam Munoz
Place close to Vandy that offers a student discount and also does all you can eat. Average rolls, but staff is friendly and prompt.
Nick Daniels
Just had a very pleasant experience at sushi 88. they have large selection and great value for the money.

Used to be really good and my favorite sushi spot.... Now it smells like old mop water and mothballs. Looking for cheap smelly sushi go here. My favorite spot is now Zumi on Belcourt

All you can eat for one price..!? …

Good sushi, but not a great place to cool off. It's hot inside if it's hot outside. I remember the inside being exposed to the outside by opened doors.

All you can eat sushi, and the food's good! They didn't seem very well organized, however, and didn't explain much, but hey, all you can eat sushi!
