Reviews of Osake
Always delicious! I rarely write reviews but our meal tonight was easily worth five stars and I wanted to say something thankful. Our new favorite is the Crazy Roll!
It is hard to describe the way this restaurant makes me feel. On one hand the food is amazing nothing can compare to other "Japanese restaurant" in the area, FANTASTICALLY GOOD I should say. On the other hand, the place needs to work on cleaning up (I noticed one person taking orders, placing orders and checking out guess. I understand this can be stressful, hoping it gets better for her).
Yes I would definitely come back, hopefully when it's not busy.
This is a great little hidden gem beside the now. Ancient exit in go early you’ll have great food. Great experience definitely the best priced best fish in town.
The employees are awesome.
And the foods are the best, super delicious.
Best sushi in Nashville! Try baked salmon, no. 9 roll, and crazy spider! 🤤😋 …
Amazing sushi! Consistently delicious and tasty this is my husband and Is go to sushi date spot! We love the food and atmosphere of this little gem spot 😍 …
Try the Osake roll! The Hawaiian & the fried oyster are my other favorites. The food is great- my personal favorite Sushi place in Nashville. The service is exceptional. Friendly, CLEAN, easy to find (parking thru the little alley beside the subway awning).
OMG this is going to be the only place I get sushi from. Super fresh fish and sushi with delicious appetizers. My boyfriend never eat raw fish and I actually convinced him to try some here and he liked it. No fishy smell at all which is rare for the price they offer. Coming once every week now!
The humble outside trappings and somewhat underwhelming interior don’t really reflect the excellent sushi we had here. We tried a number of regular and special rolls on the menu - all were very fresh and couldn’t be faulted. The missing star is more for the general presentation and overall atmosphere of the place which is a little flat. Nonetheless, a good place for a solid sushi fix.
I don't normally eat sushi, but the server there was wonderful in offering suggestions! Pictured is the baked salmon. I she asked what type of fish I liked and texture. I would definitely go back her again.
Hands down the best sushi place in Nashville! Hidden gem! Get the Baked Salmon roll for dessert!!!
I come here a couple times a week for sushi during lunch, and it has consistently been absolutely delicious and super satisfying. The waitresses and cooks are very nice and kind. One of my regular spot, highly recommended!
I came here with a group of friends. Their ramen is comparable to other ramen places downtown, but their sushi is good. I also recommend getting their fried green tea ice cream for dessert. It’s very refreshing after finishing a bowl of fatty ramen broth. I wish I tried their tempuras but will update once I find out.
Very attentive mid afternoon staff, took the "spicy" down for us, great service
Great sushi options in a small, tavern style restaurant. Fish was fresh and I highly recommend the spicy chicken buns.
Excellent food and service. Highly recommend!
Pretty good sushi! Loved the avocado salad! Took some time to get my food but it was worth it.
Food for our table if three was fine. The tempura was good and hot.. Sushi rolls were tasty and fresh. Service was off the mark. Unable to get the server's attention, we got our own napkins and never succeed in getting silverware. Not devastating, but enough to cost a star.
Service could be a little better but the food is spectacular! Good beer selection and very reasonable prices, especially for Nashville!
so yummy and delicious! loved the miso soup and sushi we got. server was so sweet and accommodating. great atmosphere.
We was visiting Nashville and was looking for Chinese Food, customer service was "Awesome " , the place was very clean, and last the wait was not long at all. Kudos !!!!
Literally some of the best sushi I've had in a while and I'm from Seattle. I didn't LOVE the salmon sashimi but I think I'm just used to a different kind of salmon. However, all of their rolls were incredible. The No 9 was so bomb. We also got shrimp sui mai, pork buns, dumplings, and a few other rolls. Everything was great. Including the service. Will definitely be back.
To Go, lunch on a Thursday. 2 roll special> volcano/rainbow & 10 piece sashimi. Overpriced ($35)for quality & quantity. Good atmosphere, friendly staff.
Honestly, visited this place three years ago and never went back. Food wasn't memorable. I know it wasn't awful either or I would remember that. I am picky about my spicy tuna rolls and they didn't come close to the spicy mayo blend that I have come to love in a few other sushi restaurants. The place across the street from them isn't any better but it's to be expected of sushi far from the ocean.
We’ve gotten sushi from here multiple times and have loved it every time. Price is fair for the area considering other places are way more overpriced for the quality (and genuine) sushi you get.
I'm very torn by this place I ordered like 100 dollars worth of sushi which should be alot of sushi but really didn't get that much. It wasn't very memorable and frankly Nashville has better places for half the price.
Some of the best Sushi in Nashville! It’s the little things; like no pink dye in your pickled ginger, actual wasabi, and a dusting of sesame seeds where appropriate. Always fresh, and you can tell the chefs seek to create an experience. 10/10, would recommend 🍣✨ …
Great sushi not much you can say but great
This place was delicious! We tried going across the street to samurai, they ignored us for over 15 minutes then decided to walk here instead. Best decision ever. We ordered 7 different rolls for the 3 of us and every roll was amazing! I wish I lived her so we could go back!
I am a big time sushi fan (from California), and let me say, for the middle of a land locked state I was very surprised by Osake. The fish quality is awesome, and they aren’t shy with the portions. I’ve been to all of the “high end” places in Nashville (paying upwards of $150 for two people) and couldn’t find anything as good this place for half the price. My girlfriend and I finished our meal full and happy.
I recommend the yellowtail, unagi, and mackerel nigiri. We also had various rolls that were all delicious. Most places around here drench the rolls in sauces, but not Osake, you can actually taste everything inside your roll!
I won’t be getting my sushi anywhere else from now on.
We stayed at an airbnb across the street and decided to do an online order for pick up. It was quick and sooooo good. We got Nabe Udon, shrimp fried rice, dynamite sushi roll, and crunch shrimp roll. Probably the best sushi place I’ve ever had.
The best sushi in Nashville! Super friendly staff and ownership. Love to support local places just like this A+++
We researched hibachi places downtown and found this little spot. They don't have hibachi, but we were able to find things we all would enjoy. At first, I was a little nervous about eating here since we are tourists and not familiar with the neighborhood. But I was pleasantly surprised! Good food, quiet little spot. The service was great also.
My wife and I came here for the first time . When looking threw all the different sushi restaurants we put are faith in this one hopping it was a right choice, IT WAS! Great fish, great menu. Good environment. Loved it. This will be are pick whenever we come in Nashville again.
Sweet unassuming spot just off of West End. Staff was polite and not overly attentive, and it was a quiet late lunch on a Tuesday. The lunch special is a good price and feeds you more than it looks! I recommend the tiger roll.
Chef cool, sushi fresh, sake cold!!!
I dislike their rule that customers who don't leave a tip will be charged 15% gratuity. I tip for good service, and this past time I went, I had a waitress who was mildly rude to my boyfriend. I definitely did not want to tip but had to because of the rule. Food is good, and service is otherwise fine.
BEST BAKED SALMON ROLL in Nashville. Literally ordered 4 sets of rolls at once from there because it's that good. Great combination specials too.

Miso is real vegetarian. Chicken fried rice with their soy sauce cup was super tasty. A+
The food was great and atmosphere was inviting. We had time to ourselves to speak and chat.
This snug little shop offers what feels like a home made meal with love and care. The owners take care to make you feel welcome from the moment that you come in, and will gladly answer any questions that you may have about the food. They even go off menu to make you special requests should you have any.
My wife had some of their sushi rolls, and I had a custom spicy noodle bowl that was to die for.
Clean restaurant, friendly staff, good food, and all at a decent price.
The food was awesome. It is not the sit around the grill with the fire & chef Hibachi... I was reading some reviews while I was waiting, they almost made me walk out... so glad I did not, I had a little bit of everything. It was all good.
Positive experience! Wonderful service and the sushi was delicious. We ordered the udon and enjoyed every bite!
This is by far the best sushi restaurant I've been to in downtown Nashville.
It's not dinky and overcrowded, it's GENUINE, and the environment is just so pleasant. If you just sit up at the sushi bar, it's just so so nice.
The staff is so friendly, they are so fun to talk to when they get talking to you. Their sushi is great quality and there are better deals on the sushi rolls than at other sushi places. Other places over price sushi but this place doesn't. It's just great. You HAVE to stop by if you're in Nashville.
Great Atmosphere. Above average rolls. One of the best Sushi joints in its price range. Decent Nigiri selection. They also have the Vandy roll that is really good for the Western tastes.
They've got some pretty good sushi here and a large variety of it. If your or a friend isn't big on sushi, don't go. There arent too many other options to choose from.
It definitely smells like a sushi restaurant in here, so if you're funny about smells or cant eat around stink, I wouldn't go.
An overall very good sushi place. The fish was fresh. The service was pretty slow (they weren't busy). They are right across from Samurai which is a good sushi place so we'll have to see what competition does...
My friends an I had a business lunch and we really enjoyed ourselves. The sushi was well prepared and the service was nice! Would definitely go again. Very cute and vibey, make sure you order the ichiban!
Favorite sushi place in Nashville. I've been all over this town looking for good sushi and I am frequently disappointed. But never with Osake. It is simply the best. Samurai Sushi across the street is also good and is a little cheaper but its cramped, kinda smells, and the sushi is just not as good as Osake which takes the cake for food and facilities that look good!
I hadn't been here in years, but after a long hard day at St Thomas, they welcomed warmly and filled my belly even as I was the last one there Awesome Bulgolgi, kimchi, and sake. Some FIRE yummy hot sauce! And some much needed conversation with the staff Chang, David and Lindsey after a long day of stress and waiting. Thanks so much guys! Will see you again soon
Best sushi in Nashville👌. Also the best gyoza and miso soup around. Service is always super efficient and friendly. Always very welcoming. I visit this place probably 5 or 6 times a month. …
I really like this place - great value, nice atmosphere, and good sushi - but we saw a baby cockroach on top of the sushi bar during our last visit. I don't think we'll be back.
The lunch combo is probably the best deal there. You get an entere, a few rolls of sushi, and some miso soup. The pork and chicken buns for appetizers were quite tasty, but pretty pricey. All around the food was good but definitely not cheap.
I never noticed this place as I always go across the street to Samurai. Stopped by there today for a late lunch. The sushi was great and the service was very friendly and fast! The place is very clean and is also newer than Samurai. It doesn't feel quite as cramped. Will definitely come back!
Small, quaint place with fast service even though they stay busy! Clean facility. Friendly staff and delicious food. Definitely recommend. Located in a plaza and could be easily missed. They have daily specials and happy hour.
Honestly, it just okay. The service could use a lot of work, and if you come in a big group there are gonna be a lot of mistakes. The sushi it self is, again, okay. There is nothing particularly unique about it. It isn't the most fresh nor is it old. It isn't the most flavorful nor is it bland. It's worth going to simply because it has a few things other than sushi on the menu.
This cozy restaurant has left the best impression! The food is absolutely amazing. I recommend to everyone !. I would like to come back here again and again
I've been going to OSAKE since 2008(ish) and It's always my birthday celebration spot with my bff and her sister which was the reason for this past visit and since her sister and I are only a week old apart it makes it an easy place for us to meet up and not go too far out of the way. By far, OSAKE my favorite sushi in town for a great price and great sushi. OSAKE has a casual, intimate and cozy feel and I find to be a great, quick lunch or a great date night spot. Before my partner passed away this was our spot, (actually it was my spot before it became our spot). I'm addicted to and usually order two of their "Crunchy Shrimp" (with extra crunchy) rolls along with another roll from their specialty menu. I do highly recommend, if you haven't tried, both the "Nashville" and the "Vanderbilt" rolls and the seafood has always been fresh and full of flavor. Love the Salmon, Tuna and the Eel. The parking in the area is either metered street parking in the area, (which is free after 6pm and on Sundays), or behind EXIT-IN and OSAKE on Louise St. where there's a pay parking lot that's, I think, $3 for one hour or $6 for three hours. After you get your full, there are several sport bars and a few shopping boutiques located next door and across the street to enjoy after you get your full. The domestic beer selection is ok--just a small list of the normal basics with a couple brands of Japanese beer and the Sake is great!! If you prefer your not-alcholic beverages the hot green tea is the house blend or enjoy a Coke products they're served in cans and over ice. Yum yum. I have never seen a wine list but they do have a corking fee for your b.y.o.w.
Just writing this review is making me hungry and has me craving sushi from OSAKE
Food was delicious, staff and chef were super friendly! Will eat here again :)!
We love this restaurant. The staff is great! The sushi is the best around, and the prices are fair. We always come here when we crave sushi. And, our kids love eating here, too, which is always the best.
Fish quality wasn't as good as our last visit
Super quiet but really good. A throw back to the sushi restaurants I grew up with.
Kind staff, helpful. Great sake, HUGE shumai. Semi hidden GEM!!!
I've been a regular here for 8+ years. It's gone through some changes over the years, but the quality is still good as ever! Love this place for date night, or a casual place to eat.
The sushi was sooo delicious! The yum yum sauce had a little too much ginger for my liking but it was all very yummy! And their sweet tea is amazing :•)
Consistently delicious, every single time and great service!
Really good food! Friendly attentive service. I would absolutely eat there again. If you're in town, and you like Japanese food, you should check it out!
Read the reviews, just like the reviews stated- saw a roach at the bar, but the sushi was really good. Plus, it’s not like the roach prepared my sushi. I’d go back.
Great staff and good sushi, it was very quiet and not very busy mostly it being during the pandemic. I highly suggest you get the vandy roll!
Great food! I had the beef bulgoki and it was delicious! However, lunch time rush was awful. Don't go there during a short, quick lunch.
1 of the best restaurants I've ever ate at! 😀
They are right up there with Gojo's Japanese Steakhouse!!!
😀😃😉 …
Just ordered through Postmates and I was blown away with how amazing it was. I got the shrimp egg rolls and the baked snapper roll and they were both delicious!
Great service, atmosphere and food
Lovely food, great atmosphere, nice and darker and cozy with R&B playing (Frank Ocean💙). The Yam Yam roll is phenomenal …
Great sushi, and a great happy hour special where you buy a roll and get one half off, in addition to select appetizers for $4. Quick and friendly service as well!
Very nice staff, positive attitudes, clean and fairly priced. Great place for someone who wants simple American style sushi.
Delicious sushi. Small, quaint place. Good prices
Absolute best sushi restaurant on the block. Eddie and the owner are the best. Great quality sushi at an affordable price. Highly recommend.
My family and I have been going here for years, and it is definitely the best asian food in Nashville! Great service and food with good prices, it doesn't get much better than that.
For such an awful town as Nashville this restaurant is supernice. Good food and pricing and VERY good combo offers (especially during happy hour which is I believe from 3 pm to 6 pm)
I love their sushi so much, the fried rice is great and the people are always so nice. Also really great happy hour deals.
Great sashimi and rolls. Quiet and enjoyable atmosphere. Nice staff.
The restaurant is beautiful, the food was delicious, and the server was friendly. Overall, a great experience.
My Son and I celebrated ,his graduation!
The service was superb, the ambiance was Awesome and the food was fabulously delicious!!!!!!

Thank you guys🎉
Reminds me of my favorite sushi restaurant in D.C. Love that the servers know my name when I call in an order, and when my coworkers walk in they already know what drinks we are having. Best service ever.
Lovely place. I enjoyed eating there as the food was fabulous and the staff were so friendly. I will definitely go back.
My absolute favorite sushi joint 😋 ❣️❣️❣️ Baked Salmon and Baked Snapper is divine 🤤 Sushi chef is wonderful!!! …
The food was wonderful I love the service the waitress really know the food and her job very well she is what made the meal special.
Friendly and attentive staff serving fresh and delicious sushi rolls, very reasonably priced and great deal on their lunch specials
Small place but great sushi. The other dishes were good. Recommend the Santa Fe roll, it was delicious!
Ambiance was good, sushi wasn't, nor the teriyaki chicken. Another person in our party had chicken fried rice and said it was ok.
Great meal for the money. Friendly and professional service. It's a casual environment. I'm there at less once every two weeks.
Love this place! The owner is super friendly and their food is really good! Not expensive, yet it always tastes fresh and delicious!
Great place! We tried it out because our original plan was to dine across the street but there was a line out the door.
Lindsay and Addie give great service, the sushi chef (I believe his name is David) makes the best rolls around.
Loved it!!! Tons of choices, very good food, great price, friendly service.
