Reviews of Monell's At the Manor
Marcelo E. Lopez A.
This was a very different experience from a usual breakfast. Sharing the table and meeting new people was a great dynamic to start the day. The food was very good! From the biscuits to the fried chicken for breakfast. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. More restaurants should make tables shareable with strangers. Very happy I came here!

It's about 18$ for breakfast which is a wonderful buffet in a Victorian type atmosphere mansion. Your whole party must be present to be seated down. Once seated down you my have some extra random guests be seated with you as you'll seat in a wide long table. Food is passed down around the table and you may ask for more anytime. The drinks they provide you are water, sweet tea, and coffee. The must try foods you have to try a bite of are the Peach preserve jam, chicken, and homemade biscuits. For the price and good food it definitely was a great place to eat at.

Such a neat experience!! Family style dining (aka pass the plate, all you can eat, sit with strangers, and have a great time!!)
The food was so tasty too. Perfect southern taste.
Can’t wait to come back! It’s a must-do experience while visiting Nashville

It’s way lovelier inside vs. the outside of the mansion. At first, one might find the location weird as it’s in the middle of nowhere with planes passing through.
That being said, the charm of the historic mansion has been preserved inside including furniture, books, and fine china.
The highlight though was the family style lunch with classic Southern food. The grit, cornbread, and fried chicken were delicious.
The staff was also attentive and good.

It was my first weekend in Nashville. And my cousins and I decided to try Monell's at the Manor. I wasn't sure if I picked a good place.
I have to say after getting seated it was definitely a different environment. I have never had communal food. I have to say I highly enjoyed it. The other people at the table were great and the food was even better! The biscuits, bacon, grits, and cinnamon roll were my favorite!
The service was excellent! And the ambiance inside really matched everything! If I could go here again I would! I really liked this experience and the food!
I highly recommend anyone who hasn't to give this place a try!

This was the cutest place. Not sure what to expect when we walked. It is family style dining so we were able to sit with strangers and had great conversations. They do ask that there's no cell phones at the table, one of the guys sat on his phone the entire time which was a bit annoying.
The food was plentiful and amazing! Everything was delicious. When I come back to Nashville I will definitely come back for a visit!

This was such a fun experience. Went on a Sunday, you don’t order they just bring out food chefs have prepared. Totally family style in an old southern style manner. Staff or friendly. Restaurant was fun atmosphere. The food was incredible. The fried chicken and ribs were amazing. Cornbread and biscuits or served with fresh strawberry and peach preserves which were to die for. Such a fun experience for us visiting Nashville.

Always a warm family experience of dining at Monell's. Awesome experience welcomed by the host and servers and the food is always amazing. check out the menu for specific daily specials of foods that are served. Breakfast is also served up to a specific time. Very close to the airport so it was our first stop of our trip in Nashville. The staff welcomed us with our luggage and had a holding room to store it in while we ate our lunch.

We where recommended to go here, glad that we did. It was an unexpected experience in southern style family dining. You are seated At a large table as you come in all together. Plates are passed around like at a family dining table. There is no menu to order they just serve the table. You're not going to be disappointed. It's a cozy atmosphere similar to a Southern plantation. The food is like my Southern grandma would cook complete with sweet tea, grits, biscuits and gravy, smothered ham, potatoes and pancakes. The crown of it all was the fried chicken. Mind you this is all for breakfast. But I'm not used to seating with strangers but it was a nice experience and we met some real friendly folks. This is the place to go if you're looking for a true Southern dinning experience.

What an incredibly, wonderful experience. I was traveling solo and had the chance to sit family style at a table with folks from all over. I heard about this place back home in New Orleans from a customer of mine and decided to try it. What a great decision that was.
I ate coleslaw, green beans, corn bread, and banana pudding. Meatloaf, fried chicken, fried fish, pulled pork, fried okra, Mac and Cheese, hush puppies, apples, corn pudding, and drank it down with ice cold beverages. One of the best meals I’ve had and being from New Orleans that’s saying something. Definitely recommend if you are in the area.

Went here based on the recommendation of the locals, and we weren't disappointed. Arrived at the end of the breakfast hour and all the food was delicious. Especially the biscuits and gravy. I have to say their gravy is one of the best gravy's I have ever tasted.
Come hungry because they bring out a lot of food for the whole table. Plus recommend you come at the end of breakfast service or at the beginning of the lunch service. We left at 1140 and the place was getting packed.
This is a must stop for anyone visiting the Nashville.

Visiting Nashville, my Lyft driver was giving me recommendations for places to eat and she said you can’t leave without trying Monnells. I saw that I was only 10min from my Airbnb so made a mental note to go for dinner while here. Let me tell you it was everything my Lyft driver described and more! So so so delish!! Food was flavorful and plenty. They just kept bringing food out, you have to tell them to stop haha. And it’s communal seating so if you’re introverted and have a prob eating and chatting with strangers this definitely would not be your scene. But i loved that experience, was so much fun dining with folks from all walks of life. I plan to go back and try their breakfast before my vacation ends. And for all of that food, it was only $20pp after taxes. Amazing value.

Always a winner going here!
The food is always delicious, and the servers are always friendly and helpful.
It might be costly, but it's worth it!
Foodnis served "family style" meaning everything comes out in large bowls, you take what you want, and pass the rest. Every time we've come, we've always been sat with strangers, but that's part of the experience.
Speaking of which, we've never had a bad experience here!

This was a great experience, had family in so we took them here. Got everyone at one table. Food was great, would recommend this for a different find of experience.
Michael Johnson
Amazing place to eat, you do sit down with people you don’t know but that is what makes the experience great. My family and I are pretty socially conservative but we loved it. Service is amazing they are very kind and awesome people and dang the food was amazing. Definitely all you can eat and it is extremely good food. The pricing wasn’t terrible either. We paid $59 for me my wife and two kids. Good prices. Highly recommend it.

Breakfast and Dinner was excellent! The skillet fried chicken, fluffy biscuits, homemade peach preserves and homemade cinnamon rolls are heaven sent and its all you can eat too!
Scott Freburg
My wife and I loved this Monells location. It was our first time at a Monell's and when in the area we will return. Service was awesome, price was great and meeting new people was fun!
Julia Ebarb
OMG!! This place is amazing! The food is wonderful. Best fried chicken I've ever had. All you can eat and so much variety. This is nowhere near the same as an all you can eat buffet. So much food! Love the family service style and getting to meet so many people from all over the world. The wait staff are excellent!
Teresa Bradley
We went on a Saturday evening. There was a bus, so we had a little bit of a wait. The food was delicious. We enjoyed our meal and the company of other diners that we were seated with.
Cheri Blomquist
Just went to Thanksgiving dinner at this location and had one of the strangest holiday meals of my life. Except for a couple of dishes that I disliked (turkey and pie) and no coffee offered with the pie, the food was great and tasted homemade. We probably couldn't have gotten better anywhere else besides our own kitchen. The grounds are ugly being right off a highway with the airport right next door, but there was a tent where people could wait and have some iced tea, and the Victorian interior is lovely. Beyond that, the experience was one I don't care to repeat That they don't take reservations seems to be a moneymaking strategy more than a customer-friendly one, because the idea seems to be to funnel people in and out as quickly as possible while making them feel as if they had a leisurely holiday meal. On our side it felt like a race. We (5 people) arrived about 9:40, expecting to wait at least 1 1/2 hours, which is what we were warned to expect, but we were seated at 10:06, long before we wanted to be. Then everything seemed to move at breakneck speed. What we expected to take a leisurely hour took only 35-40 stressful minutes. We sat at a long table with another family, the room was louder than most restaurants, and we were halfway through the family-style meal (with constant dish passing) before I realized that we hadn't even said grace--something we never forget to do, especially on Thanksgiving. I would have much preferred getting a reservation, going up to a buffet, and eating in a quiet, relaxed atmosphere. The food definitely was traditional American Thanksgiving, which was great, but this isn't a good choice for people who want a slow-food celebration.
Review ThisPlace
Our ladies group had a fabulous experience. Family style seating was nice. The food was everything and more. Everything was so delicious and they served plenty of it. You must try the corn pudding, it was very tasty. And drizzle the peach preserves over the cheese grits, YUMMY! We went at 11a it wasn't crowded. The waiter was attentive and kept food coming as we asked for it. We will be back!
Erik Harris
Always great friendly service, fresh hot food that is beyond plentiful and more than anybody could possibly finish, and it's all delicious!
Steve Freeman
Second time I've eaten at Monell's. Outstanding food! Great atmosphere.
One (small) complaint, we had to wait to be seated so we had more people for the table. I get the rationale, but if you're at lunch, you should seat your paying customers. I will still eat at Monell's when I'm in Nashville.
Randy Mullin
The dining experience is the calling card here. The setting of this particular restaurant is in an old Manor, if you will. It was beautiful!! I have had better chicken. I have had better catfish and I have had better vegetables. But, sitting around a large table with 9 other people (depending on the size of your group, people that you don't know) eating together family style ... that makes it all worth it. I can see why it has won so many awards in the Nashville area and comes highly recommended by people. I do recommend to go there when in the Nashville Tennessee area.
Randall Richards
Monell's is a truly unique experience that brings people together to break bread at one large table. We eat here every chance we get and have never had a bad experience with the new people we meet and sit with.
Now for the food- amazing! It is like all of our grandmothers got together and picked their best recipes. It is home cooking at its finest. The prices are reasonable- actually a bargain for the high quality and the quantity that you get.
Bring your appetite because they keep bringing food to pass around the table until everyone has had all they can eat. But don't bring your phone - no phones allowed at the dinner table here.
This style restaurant sould be in every town - it brings the best out of us. People from all different walks of life come together, face to face, instead of communicating over social media, tearing us apart.
Something as simple as eating a great meal together reminds us that we have more in common than the 24/7 news cycle trying to divide us. It is a good thing for the soul.
Cons: if you are uncomfortable eating and talking with people who aren't just like you, this might be a bit much, but give it a try - you just might like it!

Holy cow the food was great and it just kept coming. Service was fantastic. Would love to learn more of the back story.
Shonnese Reed
Omg!!! This food for breakfast was simply delicious! Took a large group of 12 and had a great time.
Patrisha Webb
Excellent food, service and atmosphere!
Definitely worth doing at least once for the experience alone.
Particularly enchanting around the holidays, and a wonderful place to visit for holiday celebrations.
Family style dining with a set menu, about 11-12 people to a table, so if you're party is smaller do understand you'll being sharing a table with other parties until the table is as full as it can be.
One of my favorite places to eat in Nashville, and one of the best kept restaurant secrets here!
Ilaria
Beautiful manor just outside Nashville. Basically a southern food all you can eat, and it really worths! For more than an affordable price, you will eat very good, tasty typical southern dishes. Buiscuits with gravy, meatloaf, melt in your mouth beef with gravy, green beans, corn pudding... and their signature dish: the amazing hot fried chicken! At the table you will sit with others you don't know; advice for shy people: it is comfortable and the food absolutely worths the effort of making conversation with strangers! The staff is nice and friendly. The price absolutely more than fair.
Peg Lovell
If you ever find yourself in Nashville just go. You will love it. The biscuits, fried chicken, all the meats but do not miss out on the peach preserves!
Lyz Glickman
Absolutely incredible! This is a must-go in Nashville. The food was so delicious that we could hardly believe we had ever tasted good food before. It was fun to sit family style and get to know the other people at our table. Don’t miss this place!
Victor Nguyen
Great atmosphere. Great service. My friend and I got breakfast, and from a superficial standpoint, the food looks like any other southern breakfast.
HOWEVER, every bite was delicious, high quality, and unique. Nothing was bad. Everything was perfectly balanced with butter, oil, bread, and meat.
I regret not taking pictures of the food, but this is the best southern breakfast I've ever had.
Mr MJ
True Family style dining! What a wonderful concept. The meal was beyond delicious it was perfect. The room and setting was like sitting at your grandma’s table. The service is better than I’ve ever had, they treat you like family. I love this place and look forward to coming back to Nashville because of it.
Alicia Gonzalez-Morris
ABSOLUTELY a MUST.. family style dining, tons of food and drinks, delicious flavors. They are open and if you're in Nashville you must give them a try. It won't disappoint.
Lagene Lee
A large group of 25 of us went to the Manor for lunch today! They are perfectly set up to handle large or small groups! The meals are served family style. There was plenty of each item plus more of anything if you wanted more. All was delicious! Go visit sometime soon!!
Valerie Wells
This place was awesome! Visited with my niece and her family while visiting Nashville. The food is served family style. All 12 person tables full of the people you are with and other parties. Good opportunity to meet new people and enjoy good food. The servers kept the food and drinks coming. Beautiful atmosphere. Very nice adventure! Would recommend to everyone 😀
I G
The food is out of this world delicious. Our group enjoyed each dish equally. The fried chicken was seasoned perfectly and was juicy. The fried okra was perfectly crispy and tender inside. Each item was superb. Based on our dinner experience, I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Jeni Floyd
In a kind of odd spot for a restaurant sits a vintage plantation home. Inside, you're greeted by a sweeping staircase and a chandelier. You can almost imagine a Southern Belle sweeping down them.
You're taken to a dining room and sat at a long table with other guests and the meal is served family style. The moment a dish is empty, a new one joins it until everyone has had their fill.
Expect interesting conversation with your seatmates as you pass the food around.
The food is quite good and if you leave hungry, it's your own fault.
Jerome Jones
I have been there several times, the food is good, the service is good. It is family style you may be seated with people you do not know. They bring out bowls of food and pass them around the table just like home. We were with a group, I don't know what their per person charge is.
David Broadway
The food is very good. You're served family style. You may sit at the table with another family, but it's a lot of fun. And you will get plenty to eat, including dessert. You leave hungry it's your own fault. Highly recommend.
Rodney Lee
Very traditional southern food, great atmosphere & the staff is very hospitable & friendly.
Michelle Destefano
The food was incredibly good. The kind grandma used to make. The server was super friendly. The service was great. You truly get to meet new people and have real interesting conversation with people you never met. Nice family friendly atmosphere. I would have liked to have gotten there a little earlier. Don't go at 2. They close at 3 to prepare for dinner. I highly recommend this restaurant to everybody who is in or traveling to Nashville. Close to the airport.
Lady Altovise
First time! Never heard of it. SO GLAD MY FACEBOOK friend suggested it to me while I was in town for TSU homecoming
Megan Mitchell
This is a really cool old Mansion that has been turned into a restaurant. The experience is unique: there are several large tables able to accommodate large groups. But if you're a small party, you get to set and dine with other small parties. The food is delivered quickly in large portion bowls and platters; you pass them around and help yourself, but you skip what you don't want. Breakfast is generally eggs, a meat platter, corn pudding (delicious), friend chicken, cheesy grits, biscuits/cinnamon rolls, potatoes, and a dessert. Drinks are pitchers of tea, water, but you can also get coffee. The food is generally okay. It's not excellent, but some of the items are definitely more tasty than others.
Kiva Taylor
I've been multiple times. I've experienced breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I had breakfast this time. Never a disappointment! I purposely go to Nashville most times just to make sure I have a seat at the table. 😀 My table mates have been wonderful to sit next to each time! 😊
Mary Nunaley
Brought our out of town guests here to experience a real Southern breakfast. They were overjoyed. The loved the biscuits, cheese grits, and corn casserole.
Stacie Owens
The atmosphere definitely had the "southern hospitality" vibe. Overall, the food was great - meats were a little greasy, but that's part of the "southern" experience (and yes, I'm from the south). The staff was also very polite and courteous.
I did mark off 1-star because of a specific issue I had with the cost.
Ciearra B
Delicious food! Great service wonderful view. And yes these picky kids ate just about everything that was served..To thumbs up for me!
Charyl Parkerson
Great atmosphere, very friendly staff. Love that's it's family style. I had breakfast and we came back for lunch.
Jayson Walker
Awesome food!! Definitely worth the money!! There was not a long wait because seating is first available; meaning they seat guests where available with other patrons at tables of 20. Once seated, the staff wastes no time giving us good ole southern welcome with items such as coleslaw ,cucumber salad, sweet tea, and lemonade for starters. Within minutes we were met with a feast of passed Sunday Dinner and Desert items. Everything is buffet style, so if items run out, you can ask your server to replenish. This is a great place for solo or family dining. My wife and family left full as ticks and we can't wait to return to try breakfast!!
Elizabeth Barber
Such a cool experience! Food is so delicious and served family style. If your party isnt big enough to take up an entire table, be prepared to sit with strangers! But its so much fun to do that and you get the opportunity to meet and socialize with people from all over the country. We've always enjoyed our meals here, its good yummy home cooked foods with amazing taste and flavor! Its a must go to place every time we visit Nashville! No pictures because they encourage you not to be on your phone while in the restaurant!
Cydney Daane
If this place wasn't an hour or so away from us, we will be here often. This is where I take my family when they visit from out of state. This place has real soul food and beyond satisfying. Great variety, selection , ambiance and most definitely family friendly. I'm not a people person but I really don't mind sitting on the table with strangers. I thought it's cool to not be upright towards folks once in a while. Monell's is definitely in my top 3 of places to eat in Clarksville and Nashville.
Renee Rosebohm
An ABSOLUTE MUST!!
If your in Nashville and have a few hours to burn at BNA airport, this is the place to go.
Delicious food, great atmosphere, family style dining in a group setting with folks you haven’t met yet, SO MUCH FUN !
And there PEACH PRESERVES!! OMG a must buy as you leave! Fantastic on biscuits and even better on Vanilla Ice Cream
Dre Calvin
First time going to a family style restaurant. Our table ended up being 5 different couples so the conversation was great even got some other food spots to try from this older couple. The food was great as well. 10/10 recommend
Petar Radosevic
Food is delicious and I love the whole pass the plate concept!
Jen H
We've been here twice , coming from California. And we love this place . The food is always delicious. The chicken casserole during lunch hour is to die for . The atmosphere is perfect. It's nice having a family style meal , even if it's with strangers . Definitely recommend it .
Shane Boylan
2nd time here. Had breakfast, just as fun and delicious as dinner. It’s family style, you meet new folks at the table. So far it’s been a great experience, if you can eat more they’ll bring more and bottomless tea, lemonade coffee. Prices you can’t beat.
Luis M
This place is not only an incredible value at about $19 for breakfast or lunch but it's also great food. The service is very friendly as well! It is family style eating so if you really hate the idea of sitting next to strangers while eating this place is not for you. Of the 3 times I've been here I've never sat with anyone that was miserable.
Kathy Smith
First time at Monell's. Food was definitely Southern comfort ... very yummy! I didn't realize it was family style. We met up with friends to catch up, so felt a little bad not conversing much with out table mates. Highly recommend ... I thought it was worth the $. And, the house is so beautiful!
Bill D
What's not to like seeing the lovely interior decor it feels like you're going back in time and the staff is just amazingly friendly and greets you with a warm smile. 1st time there and I'll definitely will be coming back, and the food absolutely delicious. Look forward to seeing you again soon someday.
Ron Walker
Southern family style breakfast. The food was delicious and plentiful. The shared table made for interesting conversation. We had the good fortune to be seated with people of varied origin and interest.
Tameko B
I absolutely love the down home atmosphere. The family style seating and passing of the food was really homey and comfortable. Our server was extremely kind and personable. The food was PHENOMENAL. I will definitely come back again when I'm in the area.
Jesse Williams
This is a beautiful building. The fried chicken is perfect (and it comes with every meal). This restaurant is lovely for meeting new friends and enjoying a large meal with enough selections to appeal to even the pickiest of diners.
Nancy Grant
Lunch was fabulous. The wait staff were very friendly and the food was excellent! My only problem was we had our mouths set for meatloaf Thursday and there was not any. We were told there was no longer a meatloaf Thursday. Please bring it back!
Sugar Magnolia Ellis
We had our Thanksgiving dinner here. The price was $27 for all you can eat served family style. It was a delicious traditional meal. Our family enjoyed it. The family style made it feel more casual which was nice considering we had our 2 year old with. I would recommend this location for a nice family meal.
Elizabeth Castle
Something about sitting with complete strangers and eating amazing southern cooking... Is mesmerizing. I was stuffed completely! It was such a great experience all around. I would recommend this place for sure! Thank you aunt Suzi for sharing!
Beverly Harris
We decided this year we'd have Thanksgiving away from home and Monell's was our choice and it was totally worth the 3 hour wait. Best fried chicken ever. I've eaten here several times and I've never been disappointed.
Deborah Knox
Beautiful Place! It was basically like an all you can eat buffet but brought to your table!
So, when we seated there was already pitchers of sweet and unsweet tea, lemonade, water and juice. Bowls of cole slaw and cucumber salad. And baskets of corn bread and biscuits. A bowl of country gravy and some fruit preserves. Then they brought out skillet fried cuicken, ribs, and roast beef in gravy. Sides of mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, green beens, turnip greens, corn casserole etc. All in big bowls so we would just take some and pass it around the table. There was no ordering, they just brought what they brought and you ate what you wanted of it and it's just one fee. It was a fun experience and the food was delicious!
Amy L
All the perks of the original Monell's with none of the cons. The food is just as delicious as the location in Germantown, but you get the added benefit of easy parking and lesser crowds. The staff was incredibly friendly and the fried chicken is always a favorite!
Sherbert Ratliff
My husband and I left Memphis for a bit of a rendezvous 🥰. A friend recommended Monell’s as her favorite breakfast/brunch spot in Nashville.
We arrived at Monell’s Manor on an early Tues morning at 8a. As we approached the front door, we were warmly greeted by a sweet lady standing on the front portch. We entered and the sweet hostess seated us at a large family dining table where sweet tea, unsweetened tea and water were filled in large pitchers as well as plate settings. A center console hosted condiments, creamer and saucers. It was quite amazing as this was my first time in a setting of this kind at a restaurant.
The hostess said she’d be bringing us some fresh biscuits. Our waiter served them within five minutes neighbored with cute little cinnamon rolls. They were both hot, fluffy and delish!
While I sampled a cinnamon roll and a biscuit my husband looked over the online menu and wondered when they would take our order. We figured it must be served family style according to the table scape and the large portion of biscuits and cinnamon rolls they had just served us. To confirm, we asked our waiter. He named all the dishes he’d be bringing out and that we would serve ourselves from them. I thought it was a really cool concept, though I was happy it was only me and my husband at this particular table, because I was not ready to pass around plates with people I didn’t know. Our faults there. We did not do deep enough research before dining here.
The large portions of individual dishes were served to us within 5 minutes of the biscuits and were all hot and fresh. Our waiter told us to let him know if we wanted more, that they would keep the food coming. About 10 min later her checked on us and asked if we needed more. I replied no, this is good 😊.
My favorites were the fried chickn, homemade biscuits and peach preserves 🍑, cinnamon rolls, thick crispy bacon and fluffy eggs.
We hadn’t eaten (basically) buffet style in a couple years so this was a lot for us. We only ate one normal plateful each. I also ate one more chicken wing (they were small and I really liked that) and my husband tried one of the biscuits as he ate pancakes at first. Overall, we were not disappointed! In and out in less than 45 minutes and service and food were awesome!
We shall visit again when back in Nashville! 💕
Cammi Griffin
The food was SOOO delicious! You have to try it, even if it's just a take out plate. Good southern food! Great customer service!
Jason Pressley
Worth the wait !!!!! The food was awesome and great service...if you visit Nashville you have to come here.
Julia Peart
A must eat place...all you can eat family style meal with delicious meats and vegetables in a beautiful old house! Nice pleasant servers and definitely alot of food for the money.
Sugar Laing
We had an incredible Thanksgiving meal here for just $27 each. It's all you can eat brought to your table. The service was kind and fast. The food was delicious. It was very family friendly. I highly recommend.
Gregory Yuh
Southern food... come and get some family style. Plenty of delicious southern food where everything is served family style on large tables seating 10 to a table. Plenty of fried chicken and other southern staples to fee the entire group or your family. Have to try it to understand it
David Davis
This is the best country cooking in the Nashville area. The atmosphere is also first class. For a true Southern comfort dinner, this is it. Served family style.
Tirzah Cadicamo
Such a great atmosphere and friendly service. Loved the setting and the family style dining. Fantastic food 10 out of 10 recommend.

Delicious southern style food dine in or take out.
jimmy colestock
Very cool old building, food and service was great. This restaurant is family style, this means you will sit with other people and have to pass around and share food. It is all you can eat. They have breakfast, lunch, and dinner times.
Monica Cason
Absolutely delicious and I have never dined family style. But met wonderful new friends from New Orleans. Will definitely be back!!!!
Tim Fulcher
Dinner in an awesome mansion! This place is gorgeous. We went during the Christmas season and it was decorated nicely. They don't accept reservations (which I like) so we arrived about 10 minutes before they opened on a Saturday night for dinner and were about 20th in line. It's served country style and our table held 10 so you'll share a table with strangers if you don't have your own large group which made for fun conversation. A very unique experience. Our dinner was $22.95/person for all you care to eat so come hungry

Good home style comfort food..(.and LOTS of it!!!!) Served family style with other patrons.
Lovely southern atmosphere in an 1800s historic mansion and friendly service.
Margaret Treppard
I went with my Church (NEW HOPE BAPTIST) and there were quite a few of women. The food was amazing, the servers kept it coming and even our coffee hot. You are the best !!!!!!!!
Monica Restrepo
My first time visiting, and I was NOT DISAPPOINTED!!! Everything was a pool delicious but my favorite thing was the fried chicken ❤
We were a party of 3 and we were served: fried chicken, baked chicken, pork chops, coleslaw, stuffing, corn pudding, green beans, mashed potatoes, gravy, macaroni and cheese, biscuits, cornbread, and banana pudding! I will be back for sure!!!
PS- service was EXCELLENT, also
Marcus Knight
AMAZING food, was full in less than 15-20 minutes of being there! Homestyle cooking is the absolutely right idea....it's like Cracker Barrel but extra southern!
Gregory Brand
A Nashville institution is still making people happy. For the first time since the onset of COVID-19 ("RonaGeddon") my family and I made our way to Monells at the Manor. Inside was the same great food and same great atmosphere. Everything was top notch and COVID-19 safety measures are in full effect. Those safety precautions also impact staff so allow a little grace to the staff. They are doing the best with limited staff.
Mark Thornton
Ate dinner here and it was just okay. There was about 60 of us and was served family style. The service was very prompt, and server polite. The food was just okay. I’m not a huge fan of southern fare to begin with so I might be a bit bias here. The location is pretty cool. It’s a 1896 colonels mansion which hasn’t been renovated. Feels a little rundown but looks cool. If you love southern food, this is your spot.
Leslie Rohrer
The food is awesome and the service is wonderful. The restaurant is an old home, originally built in 1893. The detail of the house is stunning with gorgeous huge arched doorways. I only wish I could have this house as my home!
You sit down at a table for about 12 people and they fill up the table with other guests until full and then serve the food. The drinks are sweet tea and lemonade, self serve on the table. Biscuits with gravy and cornbread come out first. Then the three meats of the day and the sides. At some point the dessert shows up, I didn't noticed when. Both times I've been the dessert has been banana pudding only but I'm not sure if it is the only one they have. I do wish they had two choices as I don't care for banana pudding.
One thing of note is that if you sit at the table then you pay whether you eat or not. It's not really marked but when you go to leave it is on a little card they give you.
Try to go on pork chop day, it's delicious! The meatloaf is the kind with ketchup and is tasty, and the roast beef with gravy is pretty good as well.
Carlos Deschamps
Food was amazing. Family style/home cook meal food. For first timers like myself, you pretty much sit down and they bring in tons of various southern dishes. Dinner is $22. I highly recommend yo go with family or friends.
Malcolm Godwin
Sit down and make a friend. The hostess specifically tells you to turn your phone to silent. In a world where we are so concerned with our phones and not talking with people this place is a welcome breakfast spot. We were forced to have a conversation with some strangers that turned out to be very pleasant. The food was real home cooked goodness. We’ll be back here for sure.
Suneeta Acharya
Fantastic service, food, environment and premise of eating. Never been to a family style place. You will not be disappointed! Breakfast was $18/ person, kids under 4 eat free.
Joe
Please do not go here if you are not hungry or you are a picky eater. Has my nine year old said, anywhere else and that much food would have been over $100. Catfish, fried chicken, meatloaf, etc.
Jordan
No ordering. Once seated they start bringing out bowl after bowl of fantastic traditional southern food. We didn't even care what the staff brought out next. It was all delicious. My favorites was the biscuits w/ peach preserves.
Jesse Ruggles
A friend said we had to try Monell's since we're in Nashville. I wasn't sure about the family-style seating at first, but it was great! We met some really nice people and had great conversations while passing the best southern good I've ever had around the table. By the time we finished we felt like we were all family! I can't possibly express how good the food is. The fried chicken is perfectly crisp and well-seasoned without being overdone. If I tried to describe each dish it would take a book to do so. Go here for the best southern food in an amazing manor that is simply gorgeous!
Deanna Vickers
I've been to the downtown location many times but it was my first time at the manor. The staff is incredibly welcoming and attentive. Our group went there for a team lunch meeting and it was a great experience in every way. The food was marvelous. We'll do that again.
Jo Ann Vaughn
Everything was wonderful food and service. I ask waiter if they thru away all that good food he said no they give it to the homeless. That totally impressed me.a big shout out to Monnells
Jenni Mendez
I love that the recipe stays true to the time zone of this gorgeous manor. Very clean and staff were pleasantly polite. It's a family style type of restaurant with many seats. The only thing is I wish they had maple instead of syrup. But overall I'm glad we ate here.
Kellie Douglass
Come on, who doesn't love home cooked food!
Always love coming here, especially, for their fried chicken.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff.
Denise Prucey
Truly homestyle setting allowing each person to individual preferences and portions. Tired of fine dining and ready for a home cooked meal? This is the place to go!
Thomas Poster
Seating is family style, so you will have strangers at your table, which was great. Good conversation to dine with.
Food was plentiful and delicious. The restaurant is in an old mansion was was nice to peruse. When I first walked in, I said it looks like it was in a movie... it was! Gone With the Wind.
Bigg Jay
The Monells service & atmosphere is always good. But over the years the food quality hasn't been good in my opinion. Ive only been for breakfast and its just ok.
Margi Jared
Monell's never disappoints. We had our food within five minutes of being seated. It was delicious!!
Jennifer LaFever
An excellent place to have brunch or dinner in Nashville! A truly unique find, and an excellent preserved home with history. Food is served family style, and is all you can eat. Feels like a big holiday family meal every time.
Nicole Tramel
The food was OMG amazing! And for all you get the price is an amazing deal. The waiter was incredibly nice and took excellent care of us. It is communal sitting which is unique and makes for a fun atmosphere but unfortunately we were early and so didnt get to sit with anyone as it wasnt busy yet. The manor is gorgeous and has an atmosphere of being at home in a past era. We loved our visit and will definitely be back. Pictures are of our yummy food and the meal ticket.
Ms Angie
We only got one round of food. I never got eggs or chicken on the first round, by the time they brought more out, we were ready to go. Disappointed. The other location has better service.
Andy Baughman
A very fun and unique eating experience. I think there are enough reviews, so I'm not gonna be long.
Sit with complete strangers at a long table in an old manor and stuff yourselves with delicious food. Lunch specials run between 11 and 3pm.
Stephen Russell
Just fantastic but bring an appetite. It is pricey so if you aren’t hungry you won’t get your money’s worth. But every bite was delicious.
SGS Services LLC Audio Services
All you can eat! Not for the faint of stomach.. lol. This is a group dinner experience, if your a party of 4 you will be seated with others. Large tables, it is like an invitation to a Thanksgiving meal at a some other families home. One price, no menu. As soon as you are seated the feast begins!!!! All the best Southern foods
Jennifer Baker
This place was Awesome! We had great food and met such terrific people. From Raleigh will definitely be back.
Mike Gao
Came here with family at friend’s recommendation. Glad we checked this out. Such a unique experience. We walked in mid-morning on Wednesday and were seated right away. Later we learned that were coming in during weekend, we probably end in long line. Follow exactly directions and rules announced by the staff and you will have the experience to the fullest extent. And I’d rather not drop spoilers here by giving all the details of this experience since not knowing exactly what and how it happens is part of the experience.
Typical Southern food and I liked most was the peach preserve. Did not ask but I suppose it’s house made. Very reasonable price after all the great food and unique dining experience.
Brian Oney
This was my first visit to Monell's, and I loved it! Not only was the food amazing, I couldn't believe how fast it all came out. From almost the moment our party sat down, baskets of delicious food were being passed around. I'm not in Nashville very often, but this place will definitely be on the list of places to eat at again when I'm in town.
Shari Hinton
Love it Love it! All I can say is great place and great to take people visiting out of town. It's a must do in Nashville!!
Joanne Mitchell
Went with 9 other people. Beautiful building and setting. So much food, everything fabulous. It was like having Thankgiving dinner with bowls of food flying around the table. Everything home-made and if you left hungry it certainly wasn't from not enough food! Staff was awesome too.
Henderson Jones
Great old dining room. Could be lit a little better. Cheering for this place. It is kinda of a protest to the industry change to the area.
Kara Garner
This was a cool spot for dinner! You get a lot of food and options for $20. The only flaw was the fried chicken was pretty dry.
Nisa B
Really enjoyed this experience when traveling to Nashville. The food and service was fantastic. Unique atmosphere and concept. Great value.
Jennifer Sampley
What's not to love? The building, atmosphere and home style service was wonderful! Meeting people and becoming a family for breakfast was really nice! Love that cell phones are not allowed to be used at the table. Breakfast was amazing from the cinnamon rolls and biscuits to the fried chicken. 5 stars hands down!
Travel with Wendy
Really fun restaurant in an old railroad mansion. There was two seatings at breakfast and lunch. Very busy this time of year and no reservations but we were able to get seated and served salads while we waited.
Lovely southern home cooking served family style. They keep bringing food as long as you are hungry. Lots of tables - lots of seating. We enjoyed the fried chicken and mashed potatoes. Pecan pie was great right at the beginning too.
Gary Kibble
Great southern food and lots of it. We visited with friends and chatted and ate for hours. The staff was very nice. The interior is beautiful.
Cassandra Mosby
Oh my gosh...
This communal restaurant is wonderful! The food was amazing right along with the new friends we made sitting at the same table! Don't be shy or modest when you visit because they serve a lot of food in a "pass around the table" style. So remember to bring your appetite and a wonderful attitude
Craig Moore
My family and I went here for lunch on a Sunday. It was packed, and about a 40 minute wait.... but holy comfort food was it worth it. There's no menu. And you sit at a family style table with other families. And then they start bringing food. And it keeps coming. And coming. They bring veggies and meats and breads to the table and hand them to someone. They scoop, and pass left. Then you set it on the table. The day we went, we had sweet tea, unsweet tea, lemonade, fruit tea, and water in pitchers at the table. They brought us rolls, biscuits, and cornbread. Then green beans, corn, mashed taters, cucumber salad, slaw, and sautéed carrots and mushrooms. Then fried chicken, roast beef, ribs, and spinach ricotta stuffed shells. Food. Food. Food. Whenever something runs out, ask and they bring more. There was 14 at our table and everyone was super nice and talkative. When we left, we... were... stuffed. Can't wait to go back. Please go find this place and put the peach preserves on your biscuits. Amazing.
Taylor Stagner
Absolutely love monell's. It's one of the biggest things I miss about working in Nashville. We used to swing by here on our lunch breaks from time to time. I have never had a bad experience at Monell's.
deezhuevos 616
It's certainly a different experience, but in a good way. The food is delicious and there's plenty to go around. I like the idea of sharing with strangers and meeting new folks. If that's not your thing, bring friends. Totally worth it.
Robin Seay
Food was okay. Nothing we had just stood out or had a huge wow factor. If you're someone looking for quantity vs quality this is a place for you. Staff was extremely friendly and welcoming.
Sandy Moen
So happy we took a chance and went here. It was a new experience for us being out of town, and it made us feel welcome right away. Great service. Truly delicious food. Beautiful building.
Lauren Solina
Monell's is a Nashville mainstay. This is the OG spot, but there's a quick stop in the heart of the city as well. The major serves family style, so you muggy be seated with people you don't know as plates are passed around. They've been at this for years, and it works. Fried chicken is daily, but two additional daily specials rotate. Vegetables rotate as well. I was a bit bummed to be there on a cabbage day instead of collards, but it won't be my last visit. I filled up and didn't even finish my chicken between the meatloaf and roast beef. Also, I tapped out before dessert. Rookie moves. Go planning to eat! Great place for conversation. We closed the place down. You can sit and keep getting seconds while the conversation lingers. Our guests said it felt like Thanksgiving!!
The merch is cute these days as well. Love y'all!
Joshua Wright
The food and atmosphere were both incredible! Will definitely be back the next time I'm in Nashville.
lindsey yanke
Atmosphere- amazing. Food- amazing. Service- amazing. Price was more than fair for such a great experience! I'm from Kentucky and this is the best fried chicken I've had! My friends come every year and for a good reason!
Dontae Brown
I loved the total experience of this wonderful family dinning . Food and fruit tea was so so good . 👍
Jennifer Condo
I give this place 10 stars. You sit down and they bring the buffet to you. We had 12 different bowls with all kinds of good stuff to choose from. You don't go away hungry. Everything was excellent! From the juicy fried chicken to the sweet cinnamon rolls. The ham and sausage were great. I loved the corn pudding the best. Sweet peach preserves. Amazing food!
D.L. Augustine
This place was GREAT! I wish we had a spot like this in Columbus, OH. Food was DELICIOUS. SERVICE GREAT AND PRICED RIGHT. Perfect for large parties. You can't ASK for more
christine osorio
Love the family style dinner. We always end up laughing with strangers. The food is always delicious and the atmosphere is great!
Amber Bechtel (Little Ams)
The food here was beyond amazing. To start we had 2 salads slaw and pistachio ambrosia, they were surprisingly good. Now I say surprisingly because I never would have been tempted to try a green marshmallow salad under other circumstances. The biscuits and cornbread were a delight. As per my 10 yr old son they were "to die for". Next up would be the main course.... The chicken and dumplings were a highlight. Included in this course was: meatloaf, fried chicken, corn pudding, mashed potatoes, white beans, French cut green beans, and Mac and cheese all delicious in their own right. The chicken skin was fried to perfection as per my 13 yr old daughter. And the grand finale if there was possibly room left would be Black Forest Cake. A review from my son was as follows: the sweetness of the cherries was balanced by the bitterness of the chocolate and the fluffiness of the whipped cream, put together formed quite a delicious concoction. However the family style atmosphere was really what brought it all home. So Monell's we thank you for an amazing experience and will definitely be back!
Carol Schneider
Great breakfast! Homemade cinnamon rolls and biscuits. Also fried chicken for breakfast!
Bruce Franklin
The food & service were great. It's a little different having to sit with others who aren't a part of your party, but it was worth it.
Ann Maiers
Loved the atmosphere, the food was absolutely wonderful. Reminded my friend of the food she grew up on! Definitely reccomend stopping by! Live from Iowa
Eri Gjergji
Monell’s is a unique experience of southern food served family style. You get to meet strangers and make conversation. It’s neat.
Gregg Henline
Don't be too concerned with the run down look outside. Inside is beautiful and food was awesome. You won't leave hungry, guaranteed!
lshndterrell
I've been here three times. I always say "If you go to Nashville and don't eat at Monell's did you really go to Nashville?" I love the communal style of dining. You always leave having met someone new. The food is amazing!!! The fried chicken, catfish, corn pudding, biscuit and preserves are all super delicious. The breakfast is wonderful also. I'm not only recommending Monell's I'm pleading if you're visiting Nashville don't miss visiting this wonderful place. There are two locations they are equally gorgeous and the food is also equally amazing.
Jon Siccardi
Interesting old building, atmosphere is cozy, food is good (recently went for breakfast) but not amazing. Good spot to bring out of town guests for a classic southern meal.
Stephanie Campion
Amazing food! I definitely recommend this location. It was all you can eat and you sit with another family. Social distancing was practiced here. Masks are required.
Kendra Horner
Wonderful chicken, biscuits, sausage and spiced apples.
I didn't prefer the pancakes, grits (wasn't a lot of flavor) or the corn pudding (tasted like creamed corn) but to me the important protein items were fantastic.
The family dining style was lovely. It felt like a home experance with the big wooden tables.
If you go you won't be disappointed.
Steve Frick
Found ourselves here for breakfast by accident on a Nashville adventure.
Seating is family style, so unless you are with a party of 10 or so you’ll be eating with strangers.
Breakfast was very Southern, fresh eggs, tasty bacon, potatoes for starters. The staff checked in several times asking if we needed anything else. Don’t pass up the fried chicken, close to what Grandma made.
Ryan Chidester
I've visited this place at least a dozen times and have yet to have a bad experience! Still the best fried chicken IMO. I haven't had their breakfast but have heard great things from friends.
Joel S
Wow. Amazing family style dinner. You sit at a big table with other groups while the servers just keep bringing dishes;each of them better than the last. Old country family style plates: fried chicken, collared greens, squash dishes, corn pudding, stuffed shells, beans, biscuits gravy and corned bread. Every day of the week has a different menu, but I don't think you could lose.
Ed Matyk
Fancy
Fun
Park on the front lawn
Go crazy holiday rush is super crazy
Food is good
Staff stays in good graces even in the crazies scenarios
Give grandma a great meal just south of the airport runway .
Preset menu just get your seat and pay at the door
Food for all dietary restrictions
Sean Doss
It was.. ok. It was southern food made by a Yankee.. that I don't think he's ever had real southern food
Demetrius “Jim” Boucher
What a wonderful place. Food was outstanding (Homemade & tasty). Atmosphere was friendly). Stadd was polite, professional & very accommodating. Monell's, the Manor was beautiful, welcoming, and historically, a walk through time.
Steve Lanham
My only complaint is lack of interaction by the service staff. I feel it should be more of a " host of a large family get together " than just handing everything out and wishing the customers the best of luck.
Craig Hain
If you haven't been, you're definitely missing something fantastic. Family style eating and you will want to go back.
Chris Conquest
Some of the best tasting food around. If you don't say you ate way too much much when you leave there it's your own fault
Stephanie Burton
There were hundreds of people there Easter Sunday. Few were wearing masks, who can eat wearing a mask? It is family style seating at large tables which allows for you to meet new people. The food was ABSOLUTELY delicious. It is southern style, down home perfection. Every bowl of food on the table was delightful and perfect temperature. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Whoever is cooking all this up in the kitchen knows what they are doing. Excellent!
Kim Olsen
We LOVED our dinner at Monell's!! Perfect for groups and if you are headed to The Grand Ole Opry <3
Mike Wood
Great food, friendly wait staff. Loved sitting with strangers and getting to talk and learn about where everyone was from. Great way to meet new people.
Noah Mericle
Talk about a unique and amazing dining experience! I've never quite been anywhere like it. You're seated at a large table with whoever else fits. There's no menus. Food is brought out and passed around. It's all you can eat and the food is spectacular. We had fried chicken, fried catfish, meat loaf, pulled pork, corn pudding, mashed potatoes and gravy, Mac and Cheese, green beans, corn bread, biscuits, cucumber and onion salad, Cole slaw, fried okra, banana pudding, spiced apples, and peach preserves. The table easily sat 10-12 people and the food made multiple rounds before running out. Then all you had to do was ask for more!! We made new friends, shared a phenomenal meal, and had an overall splendid experience. I can't recommend a trip to Monell's enough!
Cydney Aguas
One place in Nashville that every single one ought to try! Real southern food! Great atmosphere and so delicious! My family out of state loves the food here! I do too!
Tanikia Johnson
First time here and the food was delicious. It was like a real Sunday family style dinner. The whole meal ( drinks included) were on the table ready for grace and chow time. The service was just as good as the meal. Will definitely return next time in town
Robert Trejo
You can't argue with the quality or flavor of the food. It's superb.
The only issue some people may have with this establishment is the family-style dining. If you're in a group of less than 10-13 people, you're sharing a table with people you probably don't know.
There are rules for passing the food around and such, but they're obviously there to streamline the process.
I don't have anything negative to say about Monell's. I did want to let people know about the seating though.
DEFINITELY try the banana pudding!
Stephanie Mendez
I am leaving this review to tell everyone about my experience with Monell’s catering for my wedding on 05/20/2022. From beginning to finish, everyone at Monell’s was polite, professional, empathetic and experienced to give the best quality of service.
Everything ran exceptionally the day-of, and I am still getting compliments about how great the food was.
Their entire team made sure that things tan smoothly throughout the entire event.
We are beyond grateful that we went with Monell’s for one of the biggest days of our lives, because they did not disappoint.
Natalie Paparone
Such a special dining experience! I will recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Nashville
Mac Tiki
It was a new experience for me with the seating, it turned out nice. The food, Yes! In the end it was Almost like being with extended family 😊 …
Victoria Lucas
A few things to know. This is a family and community style dining experience. That means it's likely you'll share a table with others and have to be cordial to ask someone to pass the plate off "x". Location is near the airport and inside of what was clearly a former plantation. The grandeur of the stairs and chandelier and various dining spaces greet you as quickly as the host with shelves of homemade peach preserves for sale and the aroma of whatever's on the menu for the day.
The food is unbuckle your pants and take a nap good. No, you can't select your food off a menu, but there was variety. Breakfast the day I went consisted of fried chicken, eggs, potatoes, pancakes with cinnamon apples, country ham, sausage, bacon, corn pudding, biscuits and cinnamon rolls. The sweet tea is the perfect balance. You'll leave happy, full, and having had great conversation with your table mates.
Enjoy!
wendy halsey
First time ever, we went on a Monday night. Great food...chicken was amazing as were the meatloaf, Cole slaw, mashed potatoes and the banana pudding, also all of the sides were tasty and the corn muffins and biscuit also great. Our server kept the table filled and refilled. Great attention and check ins. Thank you....we will be back.
Casey Anderson
Food is always delicious and if you leave hungry i would definitely have to go so far as to say it's your own fault. It is family style dining, so prior to COVID you were seated at a long table with other parties/individuals. They are still offering family style dining at this time, however they distance you from the other parties you are seated with. Masks are required when not at the table and they will offer you gloves if you'd like. You are served cold salads (cole slaw/pasta salad etc) and biscuits/cornbread (with peach preserves and butter) to start. Once the main courses are brought out you can request more of anything you'd like. It's all you can eat. They have water, sweet/unsweet tea, and lemonade at the table with free refills. Dessert is also served with every meal.
*If you take a space at the table you will be charged, even if you don't eat. Also, they do not allow cell phones at the table.
Tasha Campbell
Great food and customer service no wait time or anything. Enough food to feed everyone. Great place to go
Stephanie Bradley
Food and service were good, but food was GREAT pre-COVID. Lunch price for 2 people almost $40 with baked and fried chicken and fried pork. We should have gone on a different day where the meat selections were more varied. Temperature of food was pleasant, but nothing else spectacular as before March 2020.
Chris Miller
Such a cool experience. The food was awesome. Highly recommended if your in the area to check this place out. You won't be disappointed. You won't leave hungry!!
Ana Martínez
Great Country Family experience. Delicious food and good vibes.
Steve Phillips
Served family style. Come hungry! They were super busy. However, we were seated with just a little wait. Had good food and service. We were checked on often and not rushed. Our out of town friends really enjoyed it!
William Peppers
If you are looking for a unique experience this is the place. It's a turn of the century home that has survived over the years. The food is served family style, everyone sets at a big table and I mean everyone, the table sets about 15 people. Once everyone is seated they start bringing out the food, and you'd think that your grandma was in the back cooking.....the keep on bringing all sorts of home cooked foods out till you say "No More". If you leave not full you ain't doing it right. It's really neat to be seated by people who you don't know and get learn about each other. It's also a really good value foe what you get.
J C (WhatCanISay?!)
Great experience and worth the price. The staff is amazing and food is very home made!!! I would highly recommend and also very convenient next to airport
Jesse Jordan
This was my first time at Monells, however from their hello, you'll know that you will be coming back. Family style restaurant and seating with guest as they arrive. It's funny how quickly you become family with a set of strangers while breaking bread. (I'm smiling as I recall this memory and I think you will too).
anthony clearwater
What a fun way to eat. The food was very good and the staff was friendly. Only downside is the drink choices are limited but that's not a real issue
C S
Excellent service, excellent food, excellent atmosphere. Met some great people at the table. Good times.
Chris V
Such a unique place to eat. Loved it!
Maryann Rainey
Went here with sister for her spring break visit to Nashville. I wanted us to try some of Nashville's highly rated southern eats. This place had good ratings and this location was big and away from downtown with ample parking. We were seated immediately, for dinner when we arrived. We joined two strangers who were already at the table, and a group of 6 people joined our table a little later as well. It was fun to have a family style meal with strangers, we were able to have some conversations and luckily we were all in similar age ranges. It was like a thanksgiving feast. We passed around ample bowls/plates of food around, and could ask for more of anything we wanted. Our favorites were the fried chicken, corn pudding, biscuits, green beans, and the chicken salad. Some of the food tasted ok, and some didn’t taste that great (stuffed shells) those were served and weren’t very flavorful or warm. Would of been nice to have more then just one dessert option available, the dessert available was not good. Fresh fruit could of been a great addition. Pretty expensive to go, but lots of food. Waiter was very interactive and friendly. And made sure we got plenty of food, a few chicken refills later we could not eat anymore.
Greg Gunn
"There are no strangers, just friends you haven't meet yet." Amen!
Delicious food and such a wonderful experience sharing it, family style, with new and fascinating friends.
New Favorite in Nashville!!!
Bless Bridge
Great tasting comfort food, family style dining, mediocre service, cool atmosphere, but NOT fine dining. Chicken was great, but the catfish was the BEST EVER! The have an outstanding peach preserve for their biscuits. We waited for a bit inside sitting on the chairs behind the stairs. The staff seemed mad/ rude with us b/c we sat there, and were "in the way." They did not seem organized at all for the number of people they were moving through. They do expect you to eat fast and move on too. I was expecting more of a cool old mansion with some historic flair and gardens to take pictures in. This is NOT that! There is a fountain out front (not even very cute), an airport on one side, a parking lot on the other and behind, upstairs sealed off, and every room shoved with super close tables for moving the revenue through...
Karina Clayton
There are no words!! The atmosphere and the food go hand in hand. A home cooked meal in a very home like atmosphere. We will DEFINITELY be back!!
KatEyze1129
The only reason I scored 4 stars for overall is because of how they check people out. One cashier was crazy to me, but other than that, the servers, food, and the guests were all 5 stars 🌟
Mikey P
Looking for somewhere absolutely unique and completely authentic??? This was the best dining experience I have had in forever. Family style dinner with a table of new friends. The food was incredible. The staff was like family. What a cool experience.
David Villarama
Not the best covid decision I've made but it is a great memory as the first meal in Tennessee. It's family style among with random Tennesseans. Food was mostly good.
Charles Mayes
Fantastic experience. Great for groups. Highly recommend going for breakfast.
Wanda Frazier
Nice little spot. Food is always good. Online menu is not always current.
Tamula
Great atmosphere. Someone paid for our tables meal. The food was great and the company as well.
Karlo Sy Su
The food is okay, slightly salty, but the main reason to go is the atmosphere. The communal dining allows friends and strangers to focus their attention on the important stuff, the food and company, rather than cell phones.
Angie Shin
This place has hands down some of the best fried chicken (and I have had ALOT)! The food is no frills good southern cooking. It is delicious without being too greasy or salty. The manor is very interesting and presents a great photo opportunity spot.
Deborah
Family friendly, intimate as not many there on a wed night, but the food was amazing and abundant, so you can eat true southern cooking at it's very best and it's all you can eat for one price. Very reasonably priced if you come hungry and partake in all the offerings, if you just wanted one small item, this is not the place to come, lol. Highly recommend trying it, I'll be back.
Goaner Wal
Service was wonderful and the breakfast was delicious. We enjoyed other guests that we met. We had so much laughter on a Sunday morning... Place very clean and has a setting of a family holiday dinning. My date and I loved it!
EHAB MAGDY
Authentic Southern food and spirit. Loved the place , food taste , endless quantities .
Marquis Blanchard
OMG!!!! My family and I love to get together for a meal at the Manor. The food is always fresh and tasty. I love the fact how you can sit down as family or a group and pass the food around. The service is great and children under 3 eat free. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is off the chain!!!!
Justin Hill (Critic)
Awesome place for breakfast you eat with others makes a unique experience reminded me of the medieval times food is delicious and the chicken is awesome went for breakfast will definitely be back
La'Trenita McDonald
My first time at Monell's was after my graduation from Phoenix University a couple of years ago. It left such an impression on us that we went back for our anniversary weekend, this year. The roast, ribs and fried chicken were delicious. Greens were not on the menu this time however I did get to try some asparagus casserole for the first time. A great place to take family and friends for a meal that's filling☆
Meka Sylvester
This place is amazing! The food was fantastic. We live in Louisville, KY but will drive to Nashville every weekend if we could to eat at Monell's.
C Hall
The food and atmosphere are 10/10! Delicious fried chicken, biscuits, and peach jam (to name a few of the dishes). They don't take reservations so plan on waiting if you have a large group.
Laquita Phillips
Food was ok! Imma a little picky but the atmosphere was nice! Good customer service.
Amber Toomer
What an experience! This should be a MUST see/MUST do if you're in Nashville. Excellent food.
derrick eats
I have been there several times and like always I enjoy the atmosphere and the people are very nice and it's an all you can eat establishment so you won't leave hungry. They made a few changes in their setup but they still offer the basic chicken and meatloaf which will never die out. I suggest this place to come to get the experience of a family home eating establishment where you meet good people and have good conversation while eating.
Penny Styles
A complete surprise .... but what a great idea. Food was fair, but the experience of meeting new people was more fun.
Anita Shipley
Great southern food! Friendly staff. If it's your first time here just know they will sit other customers with you at your table if there is room and everyone will pass around the food to share. Something they didnt tell us thats what they do so I was shocked but I didn't mind it .
cymethia brown
Wasn't very happy with service staff they were so focused on getting the tables cleaned off and getting the customers out that they did not notice we had never received what we came for a good meal
Lynn Davenport
The best breakfast ever! Everything was delicious. Biscuits we’re moist. Country Ham was superb. We will definitely be back. PS. Don’t tell the tourist. This place is a gem
George Seagrave
Great food! EVERYTHING was good... fried chicken, bbq ribs, fried catfish, slaw, corn, green beans, mashed potatoes, rolls, and banana pudding. All of these are served family style. You can't leave hungry!
Catherine Bozho
The bacon was too salt..in addition we were rushed to come out. Not enough time for my request to be met.
Reginald Cooper
Great fresh food in a family style atmosphere. You will love it!
Rick Waits
I love the Home Style Country Cooking. It is must try if visiting the area. Everyone sits at the dinner table in a family style dinning. They bring the food, and keep bringing it. It is all good!!
C Hoganvz
Food is served family style. Therearent menus, just platters teeming with hot, tasty food.
Mark Ross
If you're looking for a unique place to eat this is it it's in an old German Town area at Nashville! They sent you at a table that seats about 12 people! You leave your phone in your pocket! And you never know who you are going to be seated with you! They serve the meal in bowls and you pass them around the table to all the different guests! The breakfast was really good and the the other people they seated with us ended up being a blast!
Jessica Higgins
Absolutely delicious food and friendly wait staff. We were, however, disappointed by a total lack of social distancing. Family style dining is lovely, but during a pandemic, it would have been nice to at least have one chair’s distance between us and other parties, particularly since it wasn’t very crowded. The people at our table were super nice, but just a little bit more distance would’ve made us feel a lot more comfortable and safe during this unique experience. The waitstaff was masked, which was appreciated.
Justin Jacobs
Amazing food all you can eat style with stages of eating. Can order extra very friendly....sit with other people and become friends and pass food to each other. Super awesome!!
Great food and old victorian house style setup with long 10-15ft tables.
Avery Keiser
Excellent stop if you're going through Nashville! We went in just seeing the high star rating, didn't know what to expect. The building is beautiful, the food is amazing, and the concept is so neat. Seated with strangers around a table full of southern food. We will be stopping again our next time through!
Jerri Hewlett
A good place for some good food and meeting good company! I really enjoy eating there... it's like the family dinners of my childhood!
Denaneer Brewton
Had breakfast! Great atmosphere and the food is delish! The homemade peach preserve 😋
Renee Miller
Family style dining. We were sat with another family. You don't order your food, the food is brought to the table and passed around. I loved it. Hands down the best biscuits and gravy i ever had. The fried chicken and greens were so delicious. The service was great!!
Keith Hill
I have always wanted to eat here but finally got the chance to stop in. It was a rainy night and the place wasn’t very busy but both the food and the service were excellent. It is a family-style restaurant where they not only make you eat like a family but they also make you feel like a family as well. We had fried chicken, baked chicken, fried pork chops, coleslaw, mashed potatoes, green beans, dressing, cranberry sauce, and I am sure I forgot a few items. Definitely give this place a try.
chris ware
Food was excellent, servers were so friendly, this is a must when you visit Nashville!
Tom Griffiths
Very good breakfast. Bacon and ham were definitely the best
Trey J.
It was my first time there and let me just say I absolutely love them ! You don't have to get up for anything. It's a buffet at the table and the people so nice and friendly and the food was good. It was quite the experience if you like meeting new people as well because they seat you with other people you do not know and you are at a big table. It's like a family dinner style type and you have to pass the food along to the next person. I say go and try it out. I liked it and it was fun. They will most definitely be seeing me again and it wasn't expensive.
B L
Ambience and the food were perfect. Plus the service!!
The Bat Lair Studio
This place has some of the best southern cooking I've ever had! The atmosphere is unrivaled in my opinion as well. Loved every second I was there and will visit as often as possible! I ate so much I could hardly breathe when I left with my belt loosened. We ate at 10am and I didn't eat for the rest of the day!
Carmen Byars
My, my, my!! The food was absolutely scrumptious and the service was just super! Everything they described on the website is accurate! Everything was well seasoned with the exception of the mac and cheese but it was still good. Mashed potatoes are fresh and the cornbread and biscuits....try not to hurt yourself! 😅🤣 The chicken is just as good as they say! Make sure you're aware of their hours during the day because they shut down between lunch and dinner. Also be aware that you may be sitting with random strangers 🤣 but it's a nice family environment
Barb J
This was a top notch restaurant - great food, great service, and beautiful structure. Love Monell's.
Robin Bedwell
Delicious and great place to eat... Prepare to get stuffed :)
Sheila G-S
The catfish was amazing, the corn pudding was fabulous, and everything we ate was absolutely delicious! The banana pudding was the best I've ever eaten!!!!
We had 8 people, and one table was able to fit all of us.
Atlantic City Soul Line Dancer
Food was good and fresh!
Stephanie Murphy
The atmosphere is amazing and the home cooked meal is so good. Be prepared to sit with people you don't know, but it only adds to the experience. Come as strangers, leave as friends is so true about this place.
Joan Quick
Lunch served "Family style". Salads, vegetables, fried chicken, baked chicken and fried pork chops and banana pudding for dessert. Very tasty!
Kim Jones
A great place to sit and enjoy a great meal with strangers .
Margi Jared
A pleasure celebrating my birthday with my family. Beautiful surroundings and the food is amazing!
Kristy Sams
Just go here. But be mindful, if you have to eat at your desk save the biscuits for a desk pillow. Will be back for sure!
Jon Mowry
Our large party was accommodated well. Great food and setting.
TONY GLIOZZI
There were 13 of us for dinner... Brought out visitors for dinner, they all raved about it...
Pamela S.
Oh my goodness! I'm very late to this party! Only heard about this restaurant the morning we went. Monell's was absolutely delicious! The cheese grits are fantastic. We got our order to go but I'm going back to have the full dine-in experience. I can't wait! 5 stars well deserved.
JohnChris Franklin (Chris)
Absolutely love that Monell's is in the old manor house that was the New Orleans Manor back in the 80s. It has been restored again and they showcase some of the history of the old manor house. But the standout attraction is the wonderful family-style souther home cooking. If you grew up in the south, this food will take you back! Fried chicken, green beans, meatloaf, slaw, mashed potatoes and gravy, cornbread - delicious! Try to save room for dessert. 🥰
I have been 3 times and I do love the family seating. You never know who will be at the table, but it's always fun.
Tameka TheTherapist
Great place to visit, eat and meet new people
Amber Epperson
I always take my out of town guest to Monell’s and everyone is always so impressed with the family style dining. The fried chicken is hard to beat!
K Soderman
You share a meal with random people which i think can turn into something magical ! Love love this place. Southern food set menu, all you can eat! They sever breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s and experience and good food!
Robert Darmos
Don't like family style seating food was good and plenty. Cook was more concerned about shutting down seating at 3. Just not my cup of tea. Meal is good and selection they bring you of side course.
thomas stewart
This is a wonderful place to get to no local people and enjoy Real wonderful Homestyle cooking
joselyn miller
Wonderful quick and really tasty food it's like a very good grandma homemade cooking
Gary Kender
If this place is absolutely amazing and a must go to at some point in your life !!! They wrote the book on 'Comfort Food'!! I really cant even believe that a place like this exists, everything we ate was amazing. Biscuits, corn bread, gravy, mac n cheese, real mashed potatoes, corn pudding, green beans, corn bread dressing, coleslaw, slice cucumbers, fried apples, fried chicken( the best you will ever have!!!)pork chops, chocolate cherry cake and sweet tea and lemonade. And everything is fantastic!! Great service and atmosphere.
Willie Rayner
Absolutely must experience with best food and dining experience in Nashville period hands down!🔥🔥🔥🔥
Roger Long
Loved the atmosphere. Plenty of food and great service!
Towanda Hill
My first time here, we were seated almost immediately (family style). I enjoyed the varieties of food. The cornbread and biscuits was excellent. The atmosphere was great.
Mike Wang
The epitome of Southern hospitality. Great food with kind strangers. Wonderful experience. The fried chicken, biscuits and peach preserves, and banana pudding were among the best in Nashville.
Katrina Myatt
The waiter was amazing I know for a fact that hes been there over 20 years he doesn't excellent job the food was good and hot and it's always a great and welcoming atmosphere I would recommend them to anyone
Keith Taylor
All I can say is food, service, overall dinning experience ,Amazing! Our last trip to Monells was as usual, the best in Southern dining. We certainly enjoyed dining with tha folks at our table. The catfish is the best I've ever eaten
Chad Paulson
Go for the food, go for the company. The best comfort food I've had and it's consistently great. The fried chicken keeps me coming back and the cornbread is always moist (yes, I said it). It's also a great place to practice social skills as everyone from the wait staff to the customers have always been friendly.
Linda Powell
ANOTHER family was ALREADY seated and finished with their salad, and OUR FAMILY had to join THEM! I prefer to be seated WHEN everyone is SERVED AT THE SAME TIME! That's DISRESPECTFUL to LET ONE FAMILY finish a course, then set a SECOND FAMILY in the middle of a meal! I TOLD THE LADY SEATING US THAT THE OTHER PEOPLE HAD ALREADY BEEN EATING, AND SHE SAID, OH NO.... THEY HAVEN'T!! When YOU'RE PAYING $70.00 +, you DESERVE RESPECT! I ENJOY the food and have EATEN there SEVERAL times and this HAPPENED ONE other time! I LIVE 3 HOURS FROM HERE .... MONELL'S AT THE MANOR, NASHVILLE, TN....... AND IT WAS A SPECIAL OCCASION LUNCH!
Lani Baker
We went on Sunday for lunch so we had the fried chicken, pot roast, and country ribs. Everything was delicious. Loved the family style service and the opportunity to get to know a fun family we were seated with. Look forward to visiting again on our next trip to Nashville.
Ryan Vetack
Good country food served in a unique atmosphere! We stopped by for dinner and had no idea this location was so close to the airport. Great place to take someone for lunch after picking them up. None of the food will knock you socks off, but the dishes are plentiful!
Sean Peck
If you like all you can eat great southern fare, this is the place for you. Just pace yourself when the first few options are passed out. Many more meats and sides will be coming.
Trina Webb
What's not to love! Service good and food fantastic! Can't wait to get back here!
Carol Lee
First time visiting, and I was a little apprehensive about the family style dining with strangers. Out tablemates were fabulous though and so was the food. Hot, fresh and as much as you wanted. We were there for breakfast but will definitely go back to try lunch or dinner!
Scott Thunder
Family style service...shared plates to go around the table. Always fun to visit with others seated at the table. Kind of a farmhouse dining room vibe. The fried chicken rocks. The biscuits with peach jam is out of this world. The other vegetable sides vary but everything is comfort food from heaven. You will get very full.
Scott Tackett
Was an awesome place to visit, from the architecture of the old manor house to the style of serving and the amazing food, it was well worth the experience.
The next time we're back in Nashville, we'll be damned sure to stop in and sit a spell.
Tabitha Hunter
Good southern food and family style dining with all you can everything. Catsfish, and fried chicken plus the country style SWEET tea and lemonade were my favorites. A bit pricey for children $16 plus 18% gratuity for large parties. The wait staff was excellent and the wait time for a table wasn't terribly long.
Joy Within
We love eating here. The food is so good. Breakfast is our favorite. The staff is wonderful. I would eat here everyday if I could.
We have tried German Town Monell's
and the staff was not friendly at all. We went 3 times and they were rude.
We also stopped going to the Monell's in Gallatin. The servers were beyond rude every time. They closed. The Gallatin Monell's was the talk of the Town about how rude the servers were.
J.L
laurie morang
Great family style dinner. No menu. No choices. No decisions... the fried chicken is amazing!
Eddie Vedder
Because of the family style set up for the restaurant, your experience will vary upon his many you go with, or how well you interact with strangers. Overall, a very good experience. Home cooking, Southern style food. All you can eat.
If you know someone that never puts down their phone, take them here. :) No cell phones allowed at the table, and the staff will get on to about it if the see you on your phone.
robert holzknecht
Wonderful meal.Their moto meet as strangers leave as friends absolutely true from our experience .
LaChandra Simmons
Pre covid food, hardly ever had any complaints. Been a handful of times in the last 6 months and only 1x was the food good. Monells cost too much to be under par. I hate it bc i used to love this place. I haven't been to the one in north Nashville since before covid, so I cant comment on if that location is still good... monells at the manor, check your cooks, the food has been disgusting
Nancia Guy
Best fried chicken!!! Corn puddin is so good Usually sits between 8-10 at each table so if you don't have a huge party you'll be seated at a table with strangers (but great way to network) Meals are served family style and is all you can eat.
Ernest Hinojosa
Very nice place to eat. I enjoyed meeting people at the table. The table manners here are no phones or smart devices.
Jon Craig
food was great but service was sketchy this time. had to chase servers down for more stuff usually they stop by the table and ask.
Eugene Gilmore
While some individuals may be uncomfortable sitting at a table with complete strangers, it was an awesome experience for the group I was with. The environment, food and service was well worth the trip!!!
Pam N
Family oriented seating. Makes you feel like your in your own home
Allison Thomas
Our party of 7 sat immediately at a family style table. We quickly began receiving our cold salads (coleslaw, pea salad, etc). Our waiter brought out a large tray of several dishes, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, corn casserole, squash casserole, basket of rolls/cornbread, sawmill gravy, green beans, turnip greens, (the best) pot roast, & lastly banana pudding. Literally made myself sick! Also pitchers of sweet tea, lemonade & water were on the table.
Holly Peters
I'm going to give it 5 stars because the food and service was great, and the Manor is Gorgeous!
However, I would just say with covid I was quite surprised that they set a family directly next to ours (same table, no spaced seating), and we had to share the same food baskets that were passed around. I thought we'd be spread apart with our own food to share between our family only.
Besides that, everything was great! Food was delicious!
Mississippi Atlanta
Never been to a place like this but I will definitely come here again next time I visit. You don't have to think about if you getting full or not its guaranteed you will.
Kristina
Great food and a lot of it, friendly staff and great prices!!
Amanda Limbeck - Boynton
Unique experience! Cost effective and delicious food! Old house is beautiful! The experience is fun since everyone sits together you get to chat with your neighbor.
Jamie Walden
Great food served family style. Beautiful interior.
Damon Smith
A great atmosphere in which to socialize and have breakfast, lunch or dinner!
hilda crow
Beautiful place, delicious food and you bring or get set with wonderful company. Really want to bring my extended family for breakfast. Have been here several times and have never been disappointed. Great work guys!! ❤️
Irene Flores
Great experience taking in true southern hospitality. The staff were all very friendly here and the food was excellent. We visited for brunch and the food was plentiful. We had a variety of southern comfort foods including fried chicken, corn pudding, cheesy grits, biscuits, cinnamon rolls, scrambled eggs, pancakes and many other delicious treats. Felt more like a local spot which we enjoyed. Food was great and is served family style. I usually do not enjoy this style but it was excellent and a great experience! Check it out while in Nashville.
J Day
Just go, you'll love the family style meal! Best fried chicken I've ever had
Corleen Bailey
First time there I really love it the food was really good and seasoning good and the waiter was very nice everytime was wonderful will be coming back
Kathy MH
The food, service and ambiance was exquisite! Went for breakfast and all of the dishes were so delicious.. especially the skillet fried chicken, and the sauted apples. The peach nectar was refreshing.. The food is exceptionally well prepared, seasoned. What a beautiful home to serve the southern cuisine. Joe, our server, provided a history of the home, the dishes served and really made our visit,, special.. would come back to nashville just for Monell's food. Bring a group, as it is family style and there is so much great food to eat.
Thank you, Joe for the wonderful service🤩
Keith Cain
Wow, if you get a chance, this is the place to eat. The food and service were excellent. I was a little comprehensive about going to a family style place, but that ended quickly once we were seated. You will not leave hungry unless you just try.
Sonyette Doyle
First time visiting Wednesday menu. Enjoyed the food and conversations with the others sitting at my table.
Kimberly Travaglino
What a wonderful treat of a truly unique place to eat and enjoy your meal. Stunning ambiance, amazing food, an overall great experience! We will be back!
Jeff Rich
This place is awesome and a must if you live in Nashville or if you're visiting Nashville. We went there for breakfast and it was absolutely delicious and fun for everyone. The southern style food and atmosphere is a must to exerperience. I give it five stars and highly recommend it!
Maru Stern
Best food and experience ever. Couldn’t believe the price either. Can’t wait to return.
Rich Jinks
We had a family gathering here. Our people came in from Florida, so together it was 20 of us and we had a good time. So to the two guys, that served us, you did a great job.
Staci Bourland
Came down for a visit with my SO. He had been here before and wanted to take our daughter and I for dinner. We arrived about 7p and were seated in minutes. We were sat with 2 other families. We picked up a conversation like we had been friends the whole time. Such a new and wonderful experience. It is family dining style and the food was just beyond amazing. Pass everything to the left and be polite when asking for seconds. Family run, family oriented facility and the food is fantastic!! Take a few minutes after you pay and take a gander upstairs. Very beautiful, historic items and decorating. If you love the smell of old books, that's what it smells like upstairs. So sweet, dusty and reminiscent! I would recommend coming here for any meal. Fill up and you can probably skip a meal somewhere in your day. They have so many good options to pass around the table!! Right next to airport and did not hear 1 plane. We will be returning!
Heidi Anderson
Best food place ever! This was amazing atmosphere, amazing food, amazing people to talk to and just so much fun! This will be a place I visit everytime I come to Nashville.
adrian sears
This is where you go when you want your granny's breakfast but you realize that granny has been called home to join God's Army. Fret not, they have someone's grandmother's soul in the kitchen, doing great with rattling pots and pans. There are no words that can describe the level of deliciousness here, go see for yourself.
Adina Chumley
Giving them 5 stars for a terrific take out catering experience. Definitely, hearty food selections. Since I don't allow myself many fried foods, have to give them kudos for the southern fried chicken, squash casserole, and the peach preserves received rave reviews among all guests. The little jar was wiped out in one sitting! Enjoy!
Jacqueline Edwards
Monell's never disappoint me no matter which location I visit. The food is spectacular. Great size portion because you get to Serve Yourself straight from the serving dish. Food comes out of the kitchen hot and ready. I never have a long wait. As quick as I sit down the food is already at the table fresh and ready. The price is on point it's worth every penny. The customer service from the time you enter the door to the table and until you leave you feel so welcomed. The exterior is amazing I love the concept of being able to sit down with other people and have great conversations not knowing where everyone comes from. It's Always a fun networking opportunity great people learn great things from other people. Monell's thank you for a wonderful experience always.
Matthew Rawlings
Was a great experience. Great food. We were a little nervous about being seated with other guest but we meet some nice people and had some great conversation
sharlana Johnson
Food was delicious in my opinion. Four stars because the host of the restaurant, an elderly lady, gave off unfriendly vibes to our party, we came here for my mother-in-laws wedding. Overall experience was very nice though.
Dave Teasdale
Went for breakfast . it gets a bit noisy, but the food is great.
Dawn Adams
Food is great. Came from Alabama for our aunt birthday with a party of 21. We left full and enjoyed everything. Really loved the birthday song they sung to our aunt.
Eve baker
This location has a great customer service and the food is Southern style and served family style (buffet style). They seat you with different people as they arrive and it odd at first, but it allows you meet and greet with strangers that might just become your friend in the end.
Joel Burris
Some of the pass arounds were colder than I'd expect. Most were fine. Didn't know the price of food until I got to the register. Nearly $60 for 2 people was rough lol
Joe
Great food, great atmosphere and great people. Has an atmosphere of eating with people you don't know, passing food around the table and all around great place. Highly recommended if you come to Nashville!
Donald Matthews
We had Breakfast on this visit. It was delicious as always. Service was excellent! Highly recommend!
Jonque Russell
Nice family style setting with delicious food and desserts. I also really I enjoyed their fruit tea.
Machelle Thomas
I'm from Tennessee but live in Illinois and love my Southern food. When I visit my daughter in Nashville we have to go to Monell's. Monell's is always delicious! It's family style dining and your at long table with different people. The purpose is to get to know your neighbors. I go for breakfast and its always great. You get sweet /unsweet teas, golden crispy fried chicken cooked to perfection. Sausage, ham and bacon. Cheese grits, pancakes, scambled eggs, biscuits, cinnamon rolls, homemade peach preserve. If you've never had corn pudding you really need to try it. None of the dishes match and I love that. You can't have your phones out because the want you to soend time eating and getting to know your neighbors so nope, no pictures. I mean you can take pictures but I respect the rules.
aubrey smith
Second time going it was worth the 3 hour drive food was excellent and the way they seat you make new friends can't wait to go again
John Cruz
This is true family style, which means, you get big portions of everything BUT it alao means you sit with up to 24 people per table, strangers included. So, if you're uncomfortable with that, this is not the place for you. However, if that doesn't bother them you're in for a treat. The food is delicious, all the food. Whatever they put in front of me, I ate. You gotta love Southern cooking and fried food, because that is all on the menu. You wont be disappointed....I was great!
Brittany Crawford
First time here. I ordered to go but I'm excited to come back for the community style dinner on service. The cheese grits were the best.

My Brother and his family drove down from Evansville In,
To have Dinner at Monell's unfortunately due to my schedule I was not able to join them. I got phone call today and I want Thank the entire staff that worked on evening of 07/31/2021. My Sister in law was overwhelmed with the service that was provided to her She stated the food was the BOMB and everyone was attentive from the wait staff to the server. It rain upon their departure she stated that they made sure she didn't get wet while waiting in her wheelchair to get into their vehicle. Monell's is a place she has been wanting to come to for a long time.....Thank you so much for making this a happy event for a very special lady.
Angela Williams
Monell's is always a wonderful and unique experience. Meeting new people while sharing a meal is always a good ice breaker. The Manor was rather busy last time I was there but I was seated in a timely manner. Overall the meal was delicious, but dessert was underwhelming.
Tiffany Vicks
I absolutely LOVE this place!! I try to go for breakfast every time I'm in town. The fried chicken is so good. The biscuits and gravy are another favorite. It's family style dining, so it's all you can eat, and depending on the size of your party, you may be seated at the table with people you don't know. For me, this just adds to the charm. It's definitely one of those places you should experience at least once.
Darrel Lee
Food was just ok. Kind of pricey for what it is.
LISA VAGLICA
Family style delicious southern brunch, great staff, such a comforting place to break bread and socialize. Make sure you visit, I know I'll return.
BenŽo996
Awesome, home cooked meal ... Meat & Three plus dessert!
Marcus
Good food Great staff. That's what I would call a winning combination.
barbara baggett
Great as always. Service was excellent and the breakfast brunch was so delicious. Highly recommend if you have not visited, do so. You will not be disappointed
Christine Brown
Our experience was awesome. We sat with three other families and had a great time talking to them. The food was plentiful, delicious and a whole spectrum of different entrees. The fried chicken was the best I have ever had. The wait staff was amazing, always attentive and right there to refill anything that you wanted. As long as we kept the food passing to the left there were no lapses in eating. Will definitely go back when we are in Nashville again.
Kerly
GREAT food! The decor was inviting and comfortable. You must share your table with other guests, if your group isn't large enough. So much DELICIOUS food, don't eat too many biscuits and gravy or with jam. Worth every dollar.
Mike Jarrett
Just an awesome experience, great food, hospitality and service. Best fried chicken I have ever had, well done!
Quiency Dugger
If you are an introvert or not a fan of family style this is not the place for you. Having said that? Service was top notch, food was delicious. Would totally come back next time I'm up this way. Everything you could want from a southern style breakfast.
Kent Huffman
Wow! This place has the best fried chicken I've ever tasted (sorry, Grandma)! Interesting "family style" dining, where you eat with strangers that become your friends while breaking bread together. Unusual surroundings in a beautifully restored mansion. A little pricey, but every bite was delicious.
Scott
Monell's is an absolutely fantastic family style buffet! My party and I went there for breakfast and they started us off with some of the most delicious cinnamon rolls and biscuits & gravy. Soon after they brought sausage patties, bacon, pancakes, corn pudding, eggs, grits, ham, cinnamon apples, and country potatoes.
There wasn't a single item that was not delicious and we had some good conversation with a handful of friendly strangers! If I had any complaints, it would be that there was not enough cinnamon rolls for our table! Honestly though, the staff was polite and professional, the atmosphere was great, and the food was fantastic. I highly recommend.
Todd Ford
The fried chicken and banana puddin' is incredibly delicious!!
Cindy Frizzell
Very historic looking manor. Food was delicious. You may sit with strangers but our table mate were very nice. Chicken was delicious!
Chris Franklin
Amazing southern food, served Family Style! Do not miss Monel's at the Manor!
It is in the Old New Orleans Manor house, and if you grew up in Nashville in the 70s and 80s, you knew about the amazing seafood place next to the airport and up the road from 101st Airborne Bar. Monel's has renovated the old manor house and is serving up some amazing fried chicken, meatloaf, pot roast, and southern sides that perfect! Come hungry!
Amanda Scarpinato
Monell's is wonderful. You will certain get your fill of great southern dishes and banana pudding for dessert!
Ray Dauphinais
Not "fine dining " by any standard but decent family style country cooking.
aj williams
The best fried chicken around! Friendly staff and plenty of good southern food to eat. And the atmosphere is great as well. My first time here I was brought for my birthday. We will definitely be back!
jim grizzle
This is true southern home cooking. The food is served family style and it is all great! As soon as you are seated at the table, the food starts arriving and keeps coming until you can't eat any more! Bring your appetite!
Robyn Myers
I have never been to a place like this. It’s all-you-can-eat restaurants but it’s FAMILY STYLE. Two of us were seated at a table of 12 people for our Thanksgiving Day meal and you’d have thought we were all old friends. It was perfect. They dis-allow cell phone use at the tables so we actually had to converse with each other. Imagine that...
The venue was perfect, an old manor whose rooms all serve as dining areas. There is an outside waiting area which was very comfortable while we awaited our table.
On to the food. It’s all delicious. Period. They keep bringing platters of it until you can’t take another bite. The service was as good as the food.
We’ll be back...
Mortaza Sutherland
OMG this place was off the chain, the food was freaking amazing ,the staff was amazing , I have no complains at all... ok only thing is you'll have to share a table with strangers but its no biggie..
Renee F
OMG! I heard that it was good so I was thinking ahead and wore a "swing" dress so I had plenty of room to expand! Let me tell you one thing for sure, you better do the same thing! I ate more in that hour than I did the entire week! Only regret I have is I didn't bring Ziploc bags and a bigger purse! I can't wait to go for breakfast!
Beau Sierens
Good food, and a very enjoyable, family style dining experience. I was however disappointed that, for the price, it was far from "all you can eat." With some of the sides, we were given barely enough for everyone at the table to get some, and we never got any kind of refill. Once it was gone it was gone. For $62 plus tip (2 adults, 1 child), and advertising that says all you can eat, I wasn't expecting to be left wanting more. I have only been once, so I don't know if that is normal.

Love this place! Highly recommended for good food and group events.
Hello Fresh
Went for mother's day breakfast and I would have liked to have the bacon a little more crispy. The sausage could of had better sear.
Also, I don't like eating sweetened/glazed ham, make it an option by putting the pourable glaze in a separate bowl.
What I had tasted good though.

One of the best family style eating experiences I've ever had. The food was great, I know the menu changes often but I doubt they are capable of a bad dish. This is the definition of southern comfort food, be prepared to be full. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys eating large portions as a group.
Dianne Minor
The best catfish and fried chicken ever. Met some very nice people due to the family style seating. A real treat.

I had never been to this location, but I loved it!! The food, the atmosphere, the people...it was great!
John Moeller
There is a reason that they sell Tshirts that say "I've Eaten and I Can't Get Up!". Tho food is so amazing you will find yourself unwilling to move afterwards.
The family-style experience is what makes this place different than most. These days, family dinners are a rarity. You'll find you can't help but enjoy the company as much as the food. Definitely worth the trip!
Kathryn Briskie
It's okay. The food is pretty fantastic when it first comes out. However, it's family style so everything comes out in big bowls. they never refreshed the bowls so 15 minutes into the meal everything was cold. I asked for some fresh pancakes but they were not interested in bringing them out unless we finish what was in the bowl. If that's their policy they need to bring out smaller amounts.
Helen Pegram
The food was awful this time- it was Luke warm and just did not meet my expectations

Ive been here a few times, im not people friendly, but im a country girl. So this is the place for me. I love the food, lots of food. The people you meet and the conversation, omg!!! You meet people from all over.. the servers keeps the food n drinks flowing n dont kick you out. Im inviting the world here. Its a great experience youll want to share and talk about for yrs..

Didn't know what this place was ahead of time. Sitting at a 10 seat table with 3 other groups was a little bit of a shock, along with everyone sharing platters in a "family" style dinning. Food was great, but constantly having to ask complete strangers to "please pass the (food item)" was not enjoyable.
Dennisse Riollano
Awesome southern experience loved that everyone sits together.....
Come in as strangers leave as friends
Mary Ellen
The food was delicious, the chicken was the best. I also was able to meet and make friends with the people at our table. The atmosphere was very comforting, the employees very helpful and polite. Next time I return to Nashville I will surely bring Family and Friends to eat here at Monell's. Wish we had something like this in San Diego, Ca.

This place was a challenge for me, I didn't like the ideal of sitting/eating with strangers and there are no other options especially with the pandemic. The food was good, fried fish ** and chicken **, fried okra, corn pudding were my favorites!! Plenty of food for the price. All included.
Emily Huang
Can’t say enough about Monell’s. The elegant location sets the theme for a southern feast. We’re greeted immediately upon entrance, shown to our seats and our table mates, and start being fed almost immediately. The menu is set, listed on their website. Food is served family style, meaning large dishes are passed from diner to diner. Tea and lemonade are in pitchers at several convenient spots on the table. Cold items, such as slaw and pickles go around first. Hot sides and mains are next. I’ve never tasted anything that was short of amazing, and despite my best efforts not to overindulge, I always end up waddling out. I’m a vegetarian and my partner is staunchly not. Both of us always leave full and satisfied. Favorites include, but are not limited to, the creamiest mac n cheese, corn pudding, mashed potatoes, squash, fried okra, and the richest, chunkiest banana pudding. Dieters, beware.

This is a nice place with a unique dining style . They seat you with random people at a large dining table. Makes for interesting conversations. The food is really good as well!

Best soul food in the state of Tennessee. Service is A-1. Definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the Nashville area.

I really enjoyed this place! It's a unique experience! I've read some of the negative reviews about the quality and temperature of the food. We were there when the doors opened, so I guess we were fortunate. I admit being seated with strangers has the potential to be awkward, but this was pleasant to me. I love meering new people. I wish our country could come together like this in all facets of society! The food was pretty good and there was more than enough! We plan on going back the next time we're in town!
Melisa Compton
Great place! No cell phones at the table, talk to people seated with you and enjoy comradery Great homestyle food!
Michael Carpenter
Eat here and you won't be hungry the rest of the day!
The staff was very nice and the food was great. The selection seemed more than what was listed once the food started coming to the table. The family and I went on a Monday for fried chicken which was great. Everything was pretty good, of course with so many different dishes there were differing opinions on what was best.
Everyone of our eight person family lived the experience and I'm sure we'll go back one day.

Such a lovely spot. It’s a must-visit spot when visiting Nashville!

I enjoyed this so much that I plan to travel back (4 hrs. One way) just to be there again. Its worth the drive. I liked the ambiance and the staff was helpful and accommodating. They were doing some Christmas decorating and I look forward to eating there often. Great food and selection.
Carlos
Great family dining experience. You always meet great visitors as two or sometimes as much as up to four families might be seated with you around one table. The people are always warm and the staff is exceptional in every aspect of service. The fried chicken is consistently great!! They simply have all around good food. Everything is brought to your table and passed around. You will want to try a little bit of everything brought to the table. Highly recommend.
Roz Smith
We really enjoy our meal, very nice atmosphere, service was great. Everyone was friendly.
Frances Thornton
Food was wonderful!! Communal dining experience. Chicken served at every meal, with two other meats served on different days of the week, with biscuits, gravy, corn bread, beans, cornbread casserole, cucumbers, Cole slaw, fried apples, and banana pudding. Iced tea and lemonade. I probably forgot something, but it was wonderful. Dishes are passed around your ten member "family", and meals are consumed with "new friends". A very nice time! You will enjoy the experience and the food.
Jade Shack
The food was so good ! I loved the family dining style. Everything was fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was great as well ! Although we did wait about an hour to be seated, the outdoor area is beautiful and picture worth my and the food makes the wait worthwhile. I will be coming back !

Love to bring my family to monells its an experience to sit and converse with people you may not know you enter as strangers and leave as temporary family members will continue to bring people to this location🙏🏾👍🏽 …
Barbara Cole
This is family style service. You may not know the guest sitting next to you. Was not comfortable with this as the young man across from me dove in with his hands🙄 No biscuits or bacon for me. Please your the provided utensils.
Bob Mathison
Reverse buffet? Love this place and the concept. Food and company are amazing!
Stephy poo
My first time eating here with my sister. I liked the setup of the food where you sit around with other people at the table and have a chance to meet and greet. Food was magnificent with various options. The waiters & waitresses were all friendly and hospitable. Great atmosphere. I will be going back.

Away delicious and hot..anniversary weekend so it was a great

What a fantastic place! The food was amazing, everything we could have wanted in a southern establishment. This place came recommended to me by one of my customers who travels to Nashville frequently for business. We were a very large party, but there was still room at the communal table to meet some new friends. The food was authentic and delicious. Highly recommend this place!

Exceptional value for your money, great food and fast

Warm holiday experience! Group from our church choose going here for gathering. Old "at home" feeling with everyone around, passing bowls of delicious hot food. Servers bringing more when needs along with warm bread and refill on drinks. Reasonable priced. Reservations helpful with some group sizes especially if going during holiday months.

Awsome place, Awesome food, Awesome service. So soon as you seat, your seated with other folks.. it's like networking.. they serve you as soon as you seat. They keep the drink refills on the table. Food is served fresh, and you share it with others sitting at the table with you. Really cool experience 😎 👌 …
Beth
This is a great meat and three. The concept with groups sitting at large tables and passing the platters is just what we here in the south do. The food was wonderful and will definitely go back again. They only get 4 stars because we went to eat with only an hour left before closing time and we felt "rushed" through the different courses of our meal so that they could close.
Tony Rector
One of the top places to eat in Nashville. Best set down home cooking and interaction with the other guests Nashville has to offer. We come here every time we are in town. The staff make you feel at home and make sure you have a great experience and well fed.
Crystal Goodwin
I had dinner here about a year ago while visiting Nashville, so this year we decided to try the breakfast. We were not disappointed! The food is served family style, and you are seated with strangers, who quickly get to be friends. Everything was delicious, the service was wonderful and there was so much food! You will not leave here hungry! And I thought the price was very reasonable. We will be back the next time I am in Nashville!
Todd Wade
This place is amazing. Southern-style cuisine in a Sunday dinner atmosphere. The food is great and you never know the friends you'll make sharing a table.
Andrew Russo
I've been there once, and was surprised! I'm not a big southern food fan, but this place was amazing and the food was delicious. The location is surprisingly not to loud being right next to the airport, and the house is beautiful. I went there on a date, who suggested it. We sat on a table with seven other strangers which was fun in itself and helped break the ice a bit between me and my date. The only complaint was the Fatso at the end took way to much for his portions than he should considering there was a full table. I had to wait for a few items to be replenished before I could enjoy them. But rude customers is not tarnishing this review. Go there! I'll will!

Amazing food and great atmosphere dining with others!!
Ryan Rowe
Staff was very kind. You do not order food. It's like thanksgiving year round! Meal was all you can eat and taste great. Sit down at a family table and keep the food coming. Bring your appetite, there is plenty to feast on. I'm an out-of-towner and will definitely be going back.
James McQuivey
One of a kind experience, the location, the family style eating with strangers (or friends you haven't met yet). All of it worth the trip.

This restaurant offers a great experience with Family style dining. Food didn't have that typical twist restaurant food has, and taste homemade. Ideal for visiting solo or in a very small group, as that opens the opportunity to have conversation with others at the table. Greatly appreciate the no cell phone on table policy. Buffet style lunch was around $15. Great contrast from upscale, new age restaurants that you will find in Nashville. Must visit.
Lori Whalen
This place is wonderful. The homestyle serving is fun and you get to meet new people. The food is very good.
Lisa Tsai
The style of dining is like a family dinner so sometimes it can be a little awkward with strangers. Food is no joke tho, fried chicken is amazing and sides are too. I left very happy and satisfied.
Joy Smith
Great place to eat family style with plenty of food, southern food, which is delicious! First time for my mom and she loved it especially sitting at the table with friendly people who actually want to talk. I have been seated with folks who did not want to talk to anyone, nor to be talked too. Don't understand that as it is family style.
Alexis Diaz
Probably the best southern cooking I’ve ever had! We were seated with a few other groups at this family style dining restaurant. The food is passed around family style and it’s all you can eat! Absolutely delicious food and you can’t beat the prices! Such a great experience would highly recommend and I cant wait to go back and visit!
Brandon Howard
Fantastic food. Absolutely love this place. The family style dining is fun. You get to meet other people and it's a good time. Servers are quick and friendly too. Highly recommend eating here.

Took my mom to breakfast Sunday morning
This place really deserves 20 stars. The tables are already set with sweet and unsweet tea along with water lemons. Butter coffee creamers soon as they seat you they come out with mouth watering biscuits and cinnamon rolls 3mins later omg the fresh food eggs cheesy grits apples a plate of pig bacon.country fried ham sausages even fried chicken. And more the food is very delicious in HIGHLY RECOMMENDED everyone to go here for a good big breakfast. Come in as strangers leave as friends. And dont let me forget this is a very clean big mansion and they all have friendly service
Rick Werner
Food always good. Service is pleasant. Seat next to people you have never met before and pass food and eat family style. Different races, different socio-economics, getting together and sharing a good meal. What the USA should be like.
Bring my visiting friends from up north to show them why I fled.

We were looking for a place to eat near the airport and we luckily found this place. We were seated at a large table with 7 other people and had to best breakfast I've ever had. Started with scratch biscuits and gravy with their personal home made preserves. Then came pancakes, corn pudding, fried chicken (the best I've ever had, JUICY), eggs, grits, and potatoes. Then came meat mountain consisting of bacon, sausage, and glazed ham. This was the most delicious affordable meal I've ever had in my life.
Emily MacArthur
Absolutely delicious food and a ton of it!! Fair warning though - the seating is family style so there is a high chance you will be sitting with strangers. I like to get to know new people though so I actually enjoyed it. You will leave stuffed! It is basically a family style buffet and they refill everything endlessly. There is no menu for you to choose what you want from, but they provide a good variety of food where everyone can find something (or many things) they like. It is also pretty cheap for as much food as they give you. Very impressed and I will be back!

The best fried chicken I've ever had. I loved the family style setting where they give you a large bowl of mashed potatoes and you just pass it down to the next person. Every dish is like this. We had fried chicken, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, corn pudding, biscuits, corn bread, cat fish, hush puppies, and banana pudding. I won't need to eat for several months. Thanks Monell's!

Great family style restaurant with a southern touch. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all amazing never a bad experience and you can't leave hungry. Their southern fried chicken is served with every meal and is the best we've ever had. If you live here you know about Monell's, if your here visiting you have to go at least for breakfast.
No cell phones/tablets allowed at the table makes for a friendlier experience, where you can meet people from all over.
ITS A MUST VISIT!!!

The food, decor, and building itself were amazing. This is family style dining with such an authentic Southern feel. You get to sit at a dinner table with strangers, but everyone ends up talking to each other. They serve various meats, vegetables, desserts, and more. Literally everything I had tasted amazing. My cousin suggested this place, as he lives in Nashville, and I fully understand why.
I highly suggest trying it if you are visiting the area. It's all of 10 minutes from the airport.
Kellie Grayson
Loved the family style setting. Met some lovely people while we shared a meal that included fried chicken country styled ribs greens blacked eyed peas catfish .....I could go on but you get the idea. Food was home cooked fresh and delicious.
