Reviews of Midtown Cafe
Kelly Webb
We recommend reservations even for breakfast. This restaurant is excellent and everyone loves it!!! The hostess and our waitress was very nice and took very good care of us. We have never eaten here before and I have never heard of Nashville pigs in a blanket. It was absolutely amazing and so tender and perfectly seasoned, My favorite!!! My husband said he highly recommended the midtown biscuits. So good

Don’t let the modest and small-sized front fool you!
Fantastic atmosphere, delicious food, professional & courteous staff. The interior design and decor is geared more towards a nice date night spot, rather than just a breakfast cafe. It was very surprising!
I ordered the Midtown Breakfast with scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuit and fruit. Eggs were eggs, the sausage was incredible and the biscuit was also good. Coffee was hot and refilled routinely, even offered a to-go cup. The OJ was just what I needed to start my meal. I finished the meal with a small fruit cup- not bad.
What a great breakfast spot!

Went for a family dinner and had the best time. The food was delicious and the service was just amazing. Ordered fried green tomatoes, mushroom risotto and the chef’s special lobster risotto with sea bass. The lobster risotto was so flavorful and was superb when paired with the sea bass. The fried tomatoes and the mushroom risotto was also really good. The desserts needs the special mention. My 3 year old had the brownie and she just enjoyed every bite. The chocolate lava cake and the chocolate cheesecake (so chocolaty) were sooooo good. Had a great time. Will definitely visit again!

Very cute boutique cafe/ restaurant/ bar! Our waitress were superb, very friendly and always make sure you have enough coffee or if we needed anything else! The egg white omelette I ordered was simple but very well made and delicious. Will definitely try to come back again before we leave Nashville.

I ordered the crab cakes as an appetizer. It included one for $16. The flavor and accompaniments were good. I thought it was a bit pricey.
I ordered the filet for my entrée. I’ll say it was not bad but you can tell this is not a steak house.
My party ordered the molten cake and JD Pecan Pie and said they were great. My espresso was good.
Ambience and aesthetic were nice. Had a lipstick stain on my glass so that was not good. Our server was pretty good and attentive and seemed busy but sometimes our wait when he checked up on us seemed a little longer than it should have been. Although, he comped something so that was nice.
Overall, 4/5.
Laura Burton
We really enjoyed Midtown Cafe! The chicken croquettes were delicious, and the plating was perfect. Our server was friendly and efficient. It was a great setting for a lunch date.
Michael Teicheira
I wasn’t blown away by the flavor or equality of anything. We spent around $200 on this meal, and I can’t say that it was worth it.
The drinks were okay, the appetizers were only okay, and the entrees were okay. Nothing special.
The chicken croquettes were decent, however my steak was pretty tough, and the duck entree was overcooked. I thoroughly enjoyed the sautéed spinach.
Overall, I may give it another shot at some point, but I’d be more likely to explore around in the area.

Exceptional service, cozy atmosphere, and great food! The wait staff there worked really well as a team. The free biscuits and butter while you wait for your entree were savory, sweet, and timely for our hungry bellies. Our food was delicious. I had the puff pastry chicken. Although it was a little light on the chicken, it tasted great. The lobster bisque has brandy so my hubby passed on it, but i thought it was one of the best I’ve ever had. The grouper dish my hubby got was full of flavor; however, it tasted more like a tilapia than a grouper. The fried green tomatoes were juicy and fried to perfection with a tasty chipotle aioli along side it. The Pink Flamingo cocktail was light and refreshing while the French Kiss cocktail offered a sweet, but not too sweet finish.

A large group of us came straight from
The airport each with luggage right at opening. They met us at the door right away, and helped us store luggage and sat us right away! Our server was Matthew and he was super attentive and a great server. Multiple people came to our table to greet us, give us recommendations for what to do on our trip! The food was also delicious! This was the perfect start to our trip!
Melissa Roberts
This was our first dining experience here.. we absolutely LOVED it! I had the blackened Grouper( I very rarely clean a plate.. I simply couldn’t leave it. My sweetheart had the filet..fabulous!! We finished with the molten cake..
(We rarely order dessert) we finished it all! Great night ..great service.. fantastic food.. we will visit again❤️❤️❤️❤️

Wow !!!! The food was delicious!! The atmosphere and waiters are delightful! We had the meatloaf and seafood risotto!! It was delicious! The scallops in the risotto were cooked perfectly! You also get delicious biscuits before dinner !! The restaurant has valet parking which is nice because parking is complicated if not.
Sara Fiedler
Gina behind the bar was great! She definitely added to the experience. Also, her recommendations for dinner was definitely on point. One of the best meals I had in Nashville.
Dillon Campbell
Ohhh yes!
Breakfast was delicious and the biscuits I mean. Honestly, I have no words for these biscuits.. order the biscuits! They have it as a sandwich, a breakfast sandwich or in my case I just got it on the side with butter. It is absolutely to die for, it's at the whole thing is just delicious
Zthomps
Nice place for upscale dining. I was impressed by how many different dishes there were. Red fish, veal, duck, for example; not just beef and chicken. Desserts were excellent 👌
Jonny Byrd
I am an employee of Gordon Foodservice. My wife and I drove 2 hours to Nashville to go Christmas shopping and our salesman recommended Midtown. Great place, great food. We had a reservation and got seated immediately. The Valet service was great. Upscale food for a great price. We will be back. Thank You for a wonderful night!

OMG DELICIOUS! Was in town for business and ended up eating here 3 times! Had Biscuits & Gravy the first morning, which was probably up in my top 10 Biscuits and Gravy places... And as anyone knows, any place with a good biscuits & gravy is a good breakfast place. I ended up going back a second time for the french toast (which a regular I was sitting next to had the first time I was there and looked good)... Then the last time I was there I had the Nashville Pigs in a Blanket and mmmmm, that was delicious! Keep the good work up! Loved reading the article on your website about your struggles as a small business and making it personable to the struggles that those in the Ukraine war are going through. I hope you are around the next time I'm out and the community of locals and out of towners like myself continue to support such a great little restaurant! <3

We had the Lobster Bisque and Lemon Artichoke soup to start and while both were delicious the Lemon Artichoke is exceptional. For mains we had the Blackened Grouper and Rainbow Trout with crawfish sauce. They were very different flavors but but very tasty dishes. We finished the evening with the coconut cake and decaf coffee. The BEST coconut cake we have ever eaten. I highly recommend Midtown Cafe.
Steve Hedgecock
We went for our anniversary. I had the blackened grouper, wifey had shrimp and grits, along with drinks and dessert. Everything was absolutely delicious! Our server Carol was amazing! We will definitely be back.
Sunny
If you ever visit Nashville, this place is a hidden treasure…as well as a historic staple, right in the heart of Midtown. It gives upscale, yet tucked away and cozy. Carol was our server tonight and she was absolutely amazing.
Erica White
This was the first place we saw so we went in.Its business/casual attire.Staff was great.Bar drinks, FANTASTIC and the food was PERFECT.My husband and I each had a 14oz ribeye dinner&a couple drinks&shots. Our bill was only 139.00 My suggestion is,if ur in Nashville, try this place,I'll definitely go back! This place rocks! Lastly, the drinks we had were a French kiss, and an expresso Martini.Lemon drop shots ❤️💯
Jasmine Black
The customer service was great! The hostess was amazing/ patient. The server was good and the food was A-1! The meals were portioned great! The dishes/utensils were nice and clean. I would definitely return.
Karen Hoff
Made reservations at Midtown Cafe. Robert had scallops and I had the trout covered in crayfish cream sauce. Delicious food and free shuttle service to the Ryman.
Todd Ernest
Super great place!! The food was fantastic!! The service was even better!! I truly had a great experience going there. From the front door to the bar to our table, everyone we came into contact with was wonderful!! We even took the table for an extended period of time and most waiters would be mad because we are cutting into the turnover, but John was the BEST! Friendly all the way through! Thanks John and the team at Midtown! You were all Fantastic!
If you go here, make sure you get the grits!! OMG!! They are to die for but honestly all the food was awesome. I had the eggs Benedict with steak and it was yum yum yum!!! Took home some biscuit sliders and they were awesome as well!
Jennifer Zar
Friendly front of house staff and servers and delicious food. I opted for the Southwestern fried chicken salad which was fresh and tasty. Homemade biscuits are yummy, too!
Jennifer E
We had a group of 13 and made our reservations at 1am the morning before our breakfast. They were ready for us and seated everyone in the same area. It was like we'd planned our private party months in advance (when, of course, we didn't). The team was awesome and handled every request without blinking. The service was impeccable and we all enjoyed our breakfast. Thank you for making our visit so wonderful!
Adam J. Hoke
Great stop for brunch, food was amazing and service was exceptional! Huge shout out to John and his kindness to share his special BLT with me!
Lovely Lady
Delicious, intimate, phenomenal service. We had brussel sprouts, chicken scallopini and day boat sea scallops. Everything item was presented beautifully and delectable. Valet was quick and efficient. I do recommend you valet, parking is tight. We are planning our next visit.
Roy Turner
Traveling on business, not in the mood for fast food, didn’t want to dine in and eat alone, discovered via Google Maps, so I’m giving back. I’m not one to take pictures of my food, but I’m making an exception. Great shrimp and grits, and grilled salmon was awesome too. Great food presentation on takeout is not to be taken lightly either. Will definitely go back again when I’m in town.
Jay Holmes
Great food, fantastic service. I enjoyed this meal very much and was pleasantly surprised by the tasty Bloody Mary. Was fast and friendly service, would recommend for a light cozy brunch.
John Niziolek
What a little gem nestled in the heart of the city. We stopped at the Midtown Cafe for breakfast while on vacation on a whim and boy did we enjoy it. The staff was friendly, and the food was excellent.
DL S
We had the pleasure of dining at Midtown Cafe this past weekend. We were extremely impressed by the staff. All very professional, yet super friendly and helpful. The menu is extensive and creative with selections to please everyone in your group. Best of all, the food was fabulous! It was the best meal we had on our trip to Nashville. Kudos to the Midtown Cafe team!
Rolf Brekken
This is a busy place and reservations are highly recommended, esp on weekends. We had a reservation for 3 and were seated pretty quickly. The place us fairly small and was full. The menu has lots of wonderful sounding dishes to choose from. I opted fir a build your own omelet, w grits. It was very good. My compadres had a tostada and the chicken and biscuits, both looked great. If I am back here I'll give the 🐔 & biscuits a try. Service was pretty good considering how crowded it was. Price is reasonable. Highly recommend.
Preston Holland
Dinner on a Saturday night with 7 people. The valet is right out front and very convenient considering parking in the area is at a premium.
Started out with complimentary biscuits and butter which were okay if you need to take the edge off a big appetite. Then I ordered the lemon artichoke soup. It was very good and hot. For the entree I got the crab cakes. They came with cheese grits and julienned veggies. Along with a spicy and non spicy dipping sauce. Excellent!! For the dessert I opted for the Jack Daniels pecan pie. It came with a small amount of ice cream and was the perfect end to a great meal.
Service was excellent. My 6 table mates all enjoyed their food.
Elizabeth Figueroa
We were looking for a low key place for a good breakfast. New to visiting Nashville. The name sounded good ole town simple. It was so much better than we were hoping for! Outstanding food. Superior service. Val-let, we did not expect, yet we’re super friendly and helpful! I give a 200% grade for Midtown Cafe breakfast!
Brendan McDowell
Intimate, classy place great for date night serving a delicious variety of food.
Zach Shuttlewood
When we first visited this gem, we stumbled across it on our first full day visiting Nashville, so glad we found it! The staff straight away were very welcoming and made us feel comfortable, food was also excellent, so good we went back all 3 mornings we were there! They offered drinks to go to get us started for the day, a very nice touch! Well deserved of 5 stars, highly recommend!
Ashley Flores-Maldonado
Everything was delicious! Lots of healthy choices, good service, and very nice atmosphere.
Steve Caissie
Fast, courteous service, and delicious food. I went there with my wife and two teenage kids. We got an omelette, eggs Benedict with fried green tomatoes, and eggs Benedict with biscuits. Everything was excellent. The smoked Gouda grits were also very good.
Eric Woosley
We were first-time guests, last night. Absolutely great food, but the service was even better. Stephanie did a tremendous job taking care of us. Her attention to detail and beautiful spirit is second to none. We will definitely be back when we are in Nashville.
Adam L
Decent place for lunch - good service and food. Nothing life changing but more towards a very solid place to eat
Elwood McElveen, Jr.
Great atmosphere, very good food and service to match. Not big, so get reservations.
Ariana
Amazing meal and so reasonably priced!! Brussels sprouts and crab cakes were delicious, short rib with the risotto and the meatloaf meal were both fantastic! Everything was well seasoned and tasty. Service was awesome! Highly recommend!
David W
One of Nashville's best kept secrets. Breakfast, lunch or dinner - it's hard to go wrong at longtime local restaurateur Randy Rayburn's Midtown Cafe. Perfectly prepared omelets, sumptuous chicken biscuits and even mouthwatering short rib adorn the breakfast menu. For lunch & dinner check out the chicken puff pastry (a la Julia Child), the finest meatloaf in town, or sample a steak or fresh fish option. Great food and great service all around.
Erin Howell
The service here is wonderful. My husband and I had lunch here and all of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The shrimp and grits and the burger were delicious. The fried green tomatoes were good as well. I would definitely recommend going here.
Deeman
Food is decent, albeit a bit pricey. Hardly any gravy on biscuits and eggs were over cooked. Avocado toast was not worth it for one slice and avocado seemed out of a jar. Great coffee, service and a fabulous waiter ( Ryan?)
woodward matthew
The wait staff are all friendly and always on point. They make good suggestions and always accommodate. Every time I go, multiple members of the team stop by to say hi.
I kind of hate sharing one of my secret places. They can always get me in pretty quickly. I have only ever eaten brunch/breakfast but have never once been even slightly disappointed.
Mindy Livingston
We had the best dining experience that we have had in a long time here! Shrimp and Grits were sublime, and I can't wait to try other dishes on our next visit. Gemma is terrific!
Sierra Hunt
We had the best breakfast! The French toast is amazing. If you go ask for your waiter to be John, he wasn't only a great waiter, he was knowledgeable and fun! 10/10 for food 20/10 for wait staff!
Jason Piper
Awesome spot for brunch! Try the brussels sprouts, sounds simple but amazing! They tend to use local ingredients which is a plus. Make sure to reserve a table as it’s not a large restaurant! Solid choice for locals and tourists!
Mathew Tittle
Staff and atmosphere were lovely. The chicken saltimbocca sauce was broken and did not have the best flavor. The crab cakes were delicious and perfectly cooked. All sides were delicious. Overall, I would come back here.
Buzz Grant
Exceptional, friendly, accommodating. Carol is awesome and so was the lady that greeted us at door. It was a busy night but they made it work after we had been on road for many hours. Food is to die for. Shrimp and grits and Chicken Marsala were top notch!
Abigail Milinis
My husband and I visited Nashville for the first time! We picked this restaurant at random to have our breakfast and we could not have been more satisfied with our meal/experience! The building seemed small and quaint but had a reasonable amount of space once you got inside. The staff was very helpful and easy going, and the food was AMAZING! BEST BREAKFAST WE HAVE IN A LONG TIME!
Captain's Wife Log
A real jewel and a rear find! Delicious food, fantastic menu prepared to fine dinning standards. All the staff we encounter were experienced, cordial and more than accommodating. The Lemon Artichoke Soup is legendary in it's own right!
Be aware that sitting is limited and reservations are recommended. Valet parking is still complementary and a great bonus.
Todazja Doty
Well rounded experience. This is like a corporate lunch or intimate date type of place. Drinks were strong, and I’m a casual drinker with high alcohol tolerance. The food was surprisingly seasoned to perfection. The mini table biscuits comes naturally lukewarm not hot. We were told the bread is premade. All portion sizes are lunch sized, and will leave you satisfied. We ordered the crispy Brussels Sprouts, but they came cold & seasoned great. We were so hungry that we ate it anyways.
Anita Wu
We ate here again last night on a Thursday with reservations through Open Table. Great meal again, and wonderful service as well. Started with the sautéed Brussels sprouts, just amazing flavors! I had the TN Rainbow Trout which was delish, I was offered Lobster risotto instead of red potatoes and it was wonderful as well! Adult son got the Veal Saltimbocca which he raved about and was fabulous, and my friend had the shrimp and grits which she almost always gets here—classic and great with a bunch of shrimp! We shared a crème brûlée for dessert—just perfect!
Greg K
My wife and I love this it here. It’s a perfect date night. If you want something a-little higher end but nothing that’s going break bank. The quality is absolutely amazing, we got the blacken grouper which might be the best grouper we’ve ever tried and we come from the Gulf Coast and Atlantic. The green beans were perfectly cooked with an amazing glaze.
The shrimp and grits were phenomenal. Very fresh shrimp tossed with amazing cheese grits and the perfect combination of flavors to take you straight to flavortown! Truly some of the best food in Nashville. If you’re thinking about coming here do it. You will not be disappointed.
Elizabeth Pawelek
What a gem so close to our hotel! The place was very clean and well spaced out with the current situation, so I felt very comfortable dining inside. Our waiver was very personable and helpful when we had questions. I tried the mimosa and I would def recommend giving it a try. I was very please with my food and it tasted very fresh and well made. I would dine there again and recommend you giving them a try next time you are in the area for brunch.
Robert Silva
We stopped here for breakfst before heading back to Texas. The valet at the Kimpton recommended it and she was Money with the suggestion. I will preface this by saying you would do well to call ahead to reserve the table. Fate was ever in our favor this day because we were seated right away. I order the biscuit with pork sausage because who has breakfast in Nashville an doesnt order a biscuit? She ordered the smoked gouda grits. We shared and even took a doggie bag for the road. Everything was absolutely as it should be. My busicuit was fluffy and buttery with a perfectly crusty edge. The egg was perfectly over medium with no lace and slightly runny yolk. The sausage patty was a generouse size and seasoned well. The smoked gouda was delicious.
Sarah Andrade
Extremely friendly staff. They were accommodating of our large party as soon as they opened. The food was excellent! Highly recommend.
Karyn Knights
Highly recommend for brunch. Excellent food and mimosas.
John Martin
Great food, awesome waitstaff!
Rose Duffey
This place was amazing and delicious. It was exactly what We needed after a wonderful day of Nashville Tours. Both dishes were cooked to perfection and we couldn’t have wanted anymore but then she asked about dessert!
Mark Shewchuk
We had a fabulous lunch. With all the separated areas, the atmosphere was quiet upscale. Food was top-notch.
Nick deJong
Not only was the food great, the service was impeccable and Mike really made our night one to remember. Will definitely be back and I have a feeling this will be a regular dining spot for years to come.
Jennifer Pagàn
Super cute little cafe. Brunch 2 days in a row was amazing! Tess was a sweetheart taking care of us both days!
Omar S
Well-priced, traditional American cooking in a homey setting.
I stopped by around lunchtime on a weekday, and the place was bustling but not packed. Friendly, efficient staff. Good quality food at yesteryear's prices. The chicken tenders (pictured) were some of the largest and best-tasting I've had, and that's one of my standard pub-grub dishes. Definitely recommended for breakfast/lunch, I'll be back next time I'm in Nashville.
Carrie Finnegan
Hit up Midtown for the first time in FOREVER to use their show shuttle to TPAC. I was pleased they still had my old favorite, the lemon artichoke soup on the menu. The food was great!
They have spruced up the exterior, but the inside hasn't changed much since I went the first time 18 years ago.
The shuttle service was great. We will definitely be back for our next show!
Jinny Gunn
This place deserves the fantastic ratings on not only Google but top 50 on Open Table. The menu was impressive with several selections of different meats, pasta, veggie and seafood. I was torn between the pork tenderloins and the sea bass, ultimately settled on the pork tenderloins. They were scrumptious, perfectly cooked, seasoned and paired. I have no doubt either selection would have been just as perfect though & will try the sea bass next time. On top of the amazing dishes, I can't rave enough about the hospitality of the staff. From the valet to the hostess to the waitress, EVERYONE was friendly and welcoming & made it seem like I was a regular and not a tourist. Only downside, they were out of beef carpaccio!
Chrissy Marshall Windschmitt
Food and service were outstanding!! It's no wonder they've been in business over 35 years!! Smoked gouda grits ya'll!!
Etienne Lescure
Amazing Lobster Bisque. The Shrimp & Grits were very tasty. Crème Brûlée was delish.
Excellent Old Fashioned and great service.
Michael Maillet
The food was incredible! The Creme brule French toast is out of this world. It's a must go.
Jennifer Fox
Service was great, waitress was on top of everything. Didn't write down order and everything came out as requested.
Beef short rib was good, not great, only because I didn't love the red sauce. It didn't like me later in the night either. Friends at dinner loved their food, specifically the Lobster Mac n Cheese and Shrimp and Grits. Wine selection was good and decently priced.
Place is not much to look at from outside, I almost walked right past it.
Curt Loftis
We had a wonderful time here. Our server, Dale, led us thru the menu and delivered a delicious treat at every step. We will definitely be back. Very conveniently located and a terrific atmosphere. We dined early and avoided the crowds but business was definitely picking up as we left. The Blueberry Smash cocktail was a big hit. You will enjoy this place.
Sophia “Princess Pika” B.
I was staying at the Marriott across the street and ordered the Florentine omelette for takeout. It was cooked well. My only issue is that the server somehow billed me as if I had a seat and charged me 20% gratuity. I thought that was real sneaky and it put a damper on my experience. Glad I didn’t get my boyfriend breakfast there. I’ll go someplace else next time.
Matt S
Huevos Tostada's with guda grits. Good Ingredients and staff very happy with my meal. Exceeded expectations. The low-key entrance means better than average customers
Jim Nelson
Stopped in a few weeks ago while in Nashville on business. Had the turkey blt on pretzel bread and it was amazing. So we're the fries!!!
Mallory Flippin
This place is amazing. We had breakfast there and tasted so good. Lot notch cuisine. Try the Gouda grits.
SPH
Top shelf service and spectacular food. A must go for a real nice sit down dinner.
Cody McNeil
Best crabcakes I ever had, best sea bass, great scallops, meatloaf looked awesome. The desserts were great too Chocolate Peacan pie was amazing, Key Lime pie was really good. Amazing diner the manager fit us in even though it was a reservation type place, he squeezed us in and we are so glad he did..
Tyler Woodard
Great service and great food! I would highly recommend the shrimp and grits 😋!
Karen Stevens
We were on a road trip and wanted a fantastic breakfast before checking out the Parthenon. This was close to our hotel and had great reviews so we checked it out. When we walked in (there were five of us) the hostess said, “do you have a reservation?” OMG! We did not! I told her we were on a road trip and this was our only morning in Nashville. She said, “if you can wait 20 minutes I will figure something out”. We waited. She figured something out. She put as at a table in a tight little alcove by the bar. It was cramped but so worth it. The bar tender was our server and even tho he could not see us from the bar because we were tucked around a corner, he checked on us regularly. The food absolutely amazing. Highly recommend- but maybe get a reservation if you’re going to go on a Sunday morning. 😂
Margaret Cochran
The server was friendly, informative, & engaging.
There were 4 of us dining; we had grouper, chicken saltimbicco (?), braised short ribs, filet. All was delicious. Choose the coconut cake for dessert. Took advantage of their free shuttle to entertainment venue. Will be back.
Charles Ballaro
Really good food! Worthy of the advertisement on the front of the restaurant as a top 50. You need a reservation, so make sure you make one, and go there.
Jim Fisher
It was our first time here. We chose it at random and were very happy. Get there before 9:00am on Sunday or be prepared to wait! We were lucky and got in just before the rush. The menu has tons of choices, services is professional, and atmosphere is nice.
Storm B
Very cute upscale restaurant. Breakfast was good. Enjoyed the pancakes. Felt oddly underdressed as it seemed to be mainly business wear by clientele.
Keith Kirkland
This is our second time visiting Midtown, and it impresses as much this visit as it did the first time. I had the salmon on mushroom risotto with asparagus and tomato this time and the shrimp and grits last time. We also tried the chicken and artichoke lemon soup (which is amazing) and the lobster Mac n Brie.
A great date night or in our case a family birthday dinner. Just come hungry (and with some time) cause you'll want appetizers, a main course, and dessert.
MIKE WYNNE
Loved this cafe. M6 wife had the eggs Benedict and I had an omelet. Both were delicious.
Kathy Cieslak
What an amazing experience. The food and atmospere are fantastic! The bartender, Charles made it such a fun experience. I will be back.
David White
Great breakfast. Very good coffee. Excellent friendly staff. A good start to the day.
Scott Heffern
We had brunch - Very personal, welcoming and excellent service; our Nashville pigs in blanket and chicken biscuit was phenomenal and the Gouda grits are to die for. Our sever Mike was the best. Highly recommend. Best meal We’ve had in receipt memory.
Jason Williams
Perfect service, fantastic food, warm atmosphere. Highly recommended
Crystal Petrey
Delicious and sophisticated menu options. My husband loved his sea bass with lobster risotto and I enjoyed simple yet delicious pancakes, eggs and sausage. Service was outstanding. This is a must stop place in Nashville if you have the time.
Jennifer DeLozier
We were visiting in Nashville and we stopped to have breakfast before we drove back to KY. It was an OUTSTANDING find. Everything about the restaurant was a 5 out of 5 stars. You definitely won't regret eating at this restaurant.
Charlie Hassell
Thursday brunch with a friend. Delicious as always and great service, unrushed by staff even though they were busy.
Tom Pagano
Food and service was great. I loved the shrimp and grits. The drinks were also well done! We all left full after then entry and wonderful coconut cake! Awesome.
Sanya Lolly
Best meal on our trip. I ordered the sea bass lunch special and it was to die for. The lobster risotto that came with it was the best risotto I've ever eaten. My friend ordered the shrimp and grits and it was delicious. My husband ordered the meatloaf and it was super tasty too. We finished our meal with a slice of coconut cake. So rich and scrumptious!!! Can't recommend this place enough!
Pamela Martin
The food was amazing and a quaint European vibe!
Karen Jodie
Can’t rave enough about this place. We thought it wasn’t open when we walked up, but sure enough the doors weren’t locked. Didn’t have a reservation but got seats at the bar no problem. The menu was amazing, the food was even better, and the bartender was crushing it. Home fries were okay, but grits, Brussels sprouts, and pigs in a blanket were on point. 5 stars
Jamie Parsons
Always good food and they offer a shuttle if going to see show downtown.
Keith Grothaus
Visiting from out of town and so happy we found this restaurant around the corner from our hotel. The food was wonderful and Brian was great. Try the Gouda grits!!
William Braddy
Food is always great, service is excellent, and people are friendly!!
Sharon B
Welcoming atmosphere for a female dining alone at bar for breakfast before business meetings. Food good quality and hot ! Would suggest more varieties of tea though.

First time, but definitely will return. From appetizer to dessert, it was a phenomenal meal. Literally everything we ordered was delicious. Our waitress was great, and I'm sorry I didn't get her name, but her recommendations were excellent. Try the roasted brussel sprouts... And don't miss the coconut cake!
John Tucker
Walked a few blocks from our hotel for a fantastic breakfast. Eggs cooked perfectly. Excellent grits. Would definitely go back.
Gary Beck Dallaghan
Outstanding experience. The food was to die for and that habanero butterscotch bread pudding was the crowning glory!

Had a reservation, however there was still a long wait for our table (about 20-25 minutes), valet even told my mother that it would be over an hour wait even with a reservation (glad that dJ not end up the case). service was also slow, but the food and drinks were so fantastic. Try the eggs Benedict with fried chicken rather than ham, 10/10! If they can work out the kinks of service, this place would be a regular spot for us!
Brandon Blair
Awsome breakfast with alot of great options across the menu!
Andrea Blum
Staff was friendly...which is what my husband and I have encountered through our whole trip to Tennessee! (We're from Green Bay, WI)
We were looking for a nice romantic dinner, the ambiance was there....however I wasn't as impressed with the food/drinks and most of the reviews I read.
I had crabcakes with mushroom risotto and vegetables. The sauces they served with the cakes were not great and the risotto was definitely something that I would expect from maybe a premade pouch you get at the store.
My husband had a tenderloin which looked smaller than the size he ordered, but he said it was good, just smaller than what he ordered. He said the seasoning on his red potatoes was great. Drinks were STRONG, which is fine if thats what you like...but I'd rather have it taste good....I left half of my Mule in thr glass.
If we happened to travel to Nashville again, I'd probably pass on this one.
Brad Mccarraher
This is the best place to eat in the multiverse!!!!
I had pancakes and they were amazing I can not describe how go they were!!! Kristine was sooooooooooo nice thank for having us. This was the first time I was in Nashville and it was great I love it I suggest this place!!! Thanks!!

Great food, good service and reasonable prices. If visiting Nashville don't miss Midtown Cafe!
Rob Negri
Great as always. A staple of mine in Nashville. It's runs a nice balance of formal and casual as your not really out of place in a suit or formal. Food ebbs from healthier to just tasty, all of it top shelf and very reasonably priced for the service and quality.
Daniel Moran
I came for breakfast. The food was ok, but the portions were super small especially for how pricey it was.
David Crow
We sought an alternative to our hotels free breakfast. This place is a gem. Just look at the breakfast menu for a complete and creative selection. The coffee was very good, the service superb by very experienced wait staff. We will return for dinner. Thanks Randy to you and your crew!
James M.
When I walked in the manager said to me.." let's eat!" This is my kind of place. I will be back. The meatloaf was outstanding with a red pepper sauce.
Jason Hatter
The food was very good. The atmosphere is probably a little older skewing. If you are going for a quiet, dark, intimate type vibe it is very good. If you are nice dinner before a night on the town, probably not the best fit. We had the shrimp and grits and the grouper - I would recommend both.
Carolyn Freeman
Group dinner for Ladies of Football Annual Road Trip.
Wayne Hawkins
Gem hiding in the weeds. It was like stepping back in time 30 years. Service was great, food was great as was the atmosphere. Dont let the words midtown and cafe deceive you as this is a great place to eat and relax.
Susan Wright
ALWAYS A GREAT MEAL! With all the new swanky restaurateurs coming to Nashville DO NOT FORGET TO PUT MIDTOWN CAFE on your list. Randy Rayburn has been in Nashville forever and has consistently delivered (week after week, year after year) at a high level. Whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner everything on the menu is great from the scallops to the shrimp & grits to the omelets. Service has always been excellent as well as the cocktails. We also enjoy the boutique style and quaintness of Midtown versus the big (and loud) newer restaurants that are popping up. On top of having a fantastic restaurant and staff, Randy and team have always given back to the community. During COVID Midtown along with the local chapter of WPO provided lunches for Vanderbilt's COVID nurses unit. 5-stars all around for Midtown Cafe!
Brandy Hamrick
Food was incredible. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Absolutely lovely. Chicken saltimbocca and grilled salmon entrees were both delicious.
Alexis Speaks
The food was good. I definitely enjoyed the Shrimp and grits appetizer. I also had the beef short ribs and they were so tender and delicious. The mushroom risotto was perfectly cooked but it was missing a little salt.
The salmon was a little under seasoned but it was cooked well.
If you don't like tomatoes then you may want to choose carefully from the menu since a lot of the dishes have a lot of tomatoes. I enjoy tomatoes but just in case, I wanted to make sure that it was said.
The only reason why this gets 3 stars is because while the restaurant is very cozy it was very stuffy inside because it had rained earlier today. So it did throw the atmosphere off a little bit and it was very dimly lit.
I do want to come back for the breakfast/brunch menu one weekend as well.
For a local bite, this place is not bad at all.
Saul Valentin
Excellent atmosphere and service with Carlos. Food was very enjoyable dinner.
Fatima B
Amazingly kind staff. Fantastic mimosas and coconut cake. Reservation recommended.
Pamela Hampton
Our favorite breakfast place in Nashville! Delicious food, friendly service, and the best grits ever! Seriously, they are magical.
May C
Great place for dinner. I came here with hubs yesterday. Service was great and so was the food. Shrimp and grits were fantastic, the short rib was good but the sauce was a bit on the sweeter side and the meat was just a tad bit tough. Drinks are also strong here.
Vacation lover20
Recommend!! Stephanie was the nicest server. The lemon artichoke soup was very good, as well as thee meatloaf. Anything from there is good. Hope to come to Nashville again soon and will return!!
Ashley Cales
I absolutely loved this little place! Great service and the food was amazing. If you're staying close by I highly recommend you try it!
chad
Just a perfect restaurant experience from front door to end of meal. Honest food and friendly authentic service. Would recommend reservations even for lunch. The wife and I have over 50 years of restaurant experience between the two of us and this place was a highlight of the trip. Great daytime bartender and lovely food. A real throwback in all the right ways.
Hannah Miller
I couldn’t recommend this restaurant more! Amazing service, yummy drinks, and such great food! We got Brussel sprouts, rainbow trout and shrimp and grits and all were so delicious!! You won’t regret eating here!
Candice Donisi
I have been coming here for years. I don't go here a lot, but we always seem to find ourselves coming back when we are in town. The food is always wonderful and they offer a shuttle to events downtown. I ordered the Scallops with Lobster Mac and Cheese, which was amazing. My mom had the Shrimp and Grits, which she liked. We shared a bread pudding, which was good, not great, in my opinion. I am a pastry chef and am a little picky. We didn't have a reservation, but we were able to sit at the bar. One thing that most people might like, was that our food came out about 5 minutes after we ordered. We were hoping to enjoy a nice meal there and wish that it hadn't been so rushed. We hung out a while, then ordered dessert, I still gave them 5 stars because we had great food and the bartender is super friendly and attentive. I would certainly go back, since the food is consistently great.
Eddie Maddox
Very good eatery. We throughly enjoyed our stuffed flaky pasty that was like a super high-end chicken and mushroom potpie. I would order again.... Great service too.
Michelle Hill
Amazing food. Helpful staff. Cozy atmosphere
Steve Walker
Extensive Lunch and Brunch menus. Excellent food and great service. Fair pricing. Blackened Grouper has just the perfect amount of heat and very fresh. Gouda grits and Mushroom Risottos are excellent choices for sides. Highly recommended.
J G
Food was good but pricey. Got the grouper meal. Pretty small and intimate for one person I spent $40 and that was only a meal. Just FYI They add 20% gratuity and it was only six of us.

This place has taken me by surprise I was extremely happy with the atmosphere the waitress and the place and especially the food. It's a small place that's been around a lot of years but it's got a big taste that will keep you coming back if you're in the downtown area of Nashville I would suggest going there they have good fish and the sides are delicious. Don't talk about it be about it and try them out.
Humble One
Excellent dining experience, it was nice and quiet, comfortable temperature, great food and customer service.
Alisa Hall
We had an excellent meal with good service. The shrimp and grits and brussels sprouts were delicious.
Joe Curnutte
Chic interior with flavorful foods and drinks. You need to try this quaint restaurant. I recommend reservations to avoid any hassle.
Junico Cardwell
Just ate there and the sea bass was delicious! It was served with risotto and julienne vegetables. I shared a shrimp and grits appetizer with an amazing sauce. Excellent service and cozy atmosphere. We will be back!
Scott Meit
Great Southern cooking culinary selection.
Chris Tobin
Awesome breakfast. We had a party of 4 each ordering something different. Everyone loved their meal. We arrived fairly early on Saturday morning, there was a line out the door when we finished.
Haden Wise
The best food I ever had the salmon and the tea were on point

A colleague and I, being front desk agents nearby, have always recommended this spot to tourists looking for a nice brunch, and decided to give it a try for ourselves! Miss Trisha was such a lovely and warm soul, smiling up a storm the whole time we were there, seeing her interact with people was a joy. The AM manager, Miss Gemma, was also so amicable, she really treated us and we couldnt have been happier. We tried a few breakfast staples like eggs and pancakes, french toast and bacon, and of course we had to have a mimosa to enjoy our gorgeous meal with! Everything was yummy, the portions are perfect, the people are delightful, and I really think you should eat here :)
houston hughes
The food and the atmosphere was very pleasing at this restaurant. I went here on a date with my girlfriend and had the spinach Chipotle hummus for an appetizer and the crab cakes for my entree. The food was very good and fair priced considering the taste and portion size. We also had a bottle of Josh 18 which was great and also fair priced at $31. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience except for the service. Not that it was necessarily our waitresses fault because they were pretty busy for the size of the restaurant but I feel as if we were forgotten about for most of our dinner. That being said, when our waitress did tend to us sue was very sweet and inviting as well as easy to talk to. The restaurant was also extremely clean and Covid friendly especially considering that most establishments in Nashville seem to neglect any all and health regulations. I highly recommend this restaurant for any and all occasions.
Scott Hurtgen
Got the chicken biscuits and wow! I severely underestimated how good they would be. The gravy was absolutely delicious and the eggs cooked perfectly sunny-side up making for a delicious eggy bite.
Emily Calovich
Best gem in Nashville!! They have an incredible menu with insanely delicious food! The hostess is so friendly and the food came to our table quickly! Can’t say enough good things about this restaurant! Do yourself a favor and go while you’re in town!
Ed Knopf
Sat at the bar, enjoyed a nice French toast breakfast with some good coffee. Great place, away from the crowd on Broadway.
William Myers
My fiance and I dropped in after finding this place online, our usual "go-to" for seafood was closed. I had a crab cake to start off and for lunch she ordered salmon with mushroom risotto and I opted for the shrimp n grits. The staff was very friendly and our server was attentive. My grits were perfect, her salmon and risotto was delicious, but my shrimp were overcooked. Overall it was a great experience.
Allison Shepherd
Make a reservation, for its a busy spot, but wow...you won't be disappointed!
Mindy
I wasn't super impressived with my food. But I think I just selected the wrong thing. The cheesy grits were my favorite. But next time I would ask for a recommendation. But worth going to. The atmosphere is really nice and the staff is super friendly.
Noe Gillespie
Our first time to Nashville and we are beyond thankful that we tried Midtown cafe. It was everything we were looking to try when it came to a great southern meal. Quite, intimate place, that is cozy inside. The food was amazing, actually beyond amazing. Our only wish is that we could take a piece of this restaurant back to Kansas with us.
Eric Marshall
Great food and a great ride from Kevin on the restaurant owned bus. Thanks!
Debra Reed
February 2021 I celebrated my 67th birthday here. Awesome meal. I had the scallop dinner
So good! Coconut cake is the best I have had anywhere. Husband had the trout. Very good also. Service was spot on
and made my birthday special.
Todd Stewart
A must when you're in Nashville. I would recommend the sausage gravy and biscuits. Their patty sausage was excellent. Make a reservation on open table regardless of the time of day since it's packed.
Max McGregor
We really liked this place. Food wasn’t necessarily any better than most of your breakfast places, but the service and the ambience made it a memorable experience. Thank you.
Tíco
Had an 8pm reservation in a Tuesday and walked into a full restaurant. Even the bar and bar area was full. Now we were not in a rush and didn't mind waiting, but others canceled their reservations and walk-ins were turned away. I know these things happen, a couple large groups stay longer than anticipated and the restaurant gets backed up. This is a small restaurant, tables are close together and not a lot of bar space. That being said the food was fantastic, one of only a few places in town with veal! All in all great little place!
Bob Sackett
Excellent place for breakfast or dinner... intimate setting that provides great customer service. Shrimp and grits are really good and at breakfast the French toast is killer...
Chip Haver
Good place to grab breakfast...very good service. Food was good.
Sarah Strozeski
Food was so delicious! Had the ranchero toastadas and Nashville pigs in a blanket. Service was unbeatable with easy call in reservations and attentive and friendly servers. I would recommend to anyone visiting the area for brunch!
Deborah Gil
Excellent service and was really cozy. The food and wine both excellent! The brussels sprouts were unlike I've ever had and the salmon was also really delicious. Big portions too! Definitely a new favorite.
Irene Flores
If you are Nashville and tired of the bar food, looking for a decent meal...this is your spot. Service was perfect...from host to waiter Carlos and nice bartender from New Jersey. Drinks were delicious. Food was outstanding. I had specials (salad and halibut)...delicious!!! We were a party of 10. We appreciated that were very accomodating. And the prices weren't bad. Around $50 a head for cocktails and great food
Ryan Davis
Great power lunch spot before hitting the bars. John is fantastic!
Lori L Cooper
Birthday brunch party of 3. Server kristine, (i think) was great! My meal of grilled salmon, asparagus on bed of mushroom rice was good.

I travel for a living, so am always looking for a nice place to eat. I looked for places close to the hotel and this place pooped up. I have no idea why it only has 4 stars but in my experience they are a solid 5. Service is great! The wait staff all seem to get along well. I get the impression it may be a family run operation? I had the angel hair pasta and shrimp. VERY good!
I would definitely come back.
Laura Geiger
Our waitress was absolutely delightful! The baby biscuits were delicious and it was hard to only eat one of them but I had to save room for the rest of the food to come. The lobster mac and cheese with scallops was delicious! The veal Oscar style was absolutely amazing! The pecan chocolate pie was pretty good too. The peach martini was on point as it was somewhat strong but you cannot taste the alcohol!
Marty Sloane
Wonderful and cozy restaurant. I loved the ambiance and feel in the dining room.
I recommend the sea bass with lobster risotto
Bradley Denmilne
Cozy classy place with soft music and tablecloths and linen napkins. I order creamy artichoke soup. It was fabulous. Served very hot, not spicy but served hot. A bonus for me. It has a creamy lemon chicken base with small pieces of artichoke. It was flavorful but not too rich in nature. recommend
Travis H
Delicious breakfast. My wife had the avocado toast and I had eggs, sausage, and home fries. The host was super friendly. I’d recommend reserving a table in advance if you want to be seated for certain.
Christina B
Excellent brunch. Recommend omelette and French toast.
Eileen Bedinghaus
We ate here twice during a five day stay! THAT should tell you something. The atmosphere is very cool and calming with fabulous art. The wait staff (Mike) was attentive without being intrusive. The food is clean, healthy, creative, flavorful and the entire experience was simply lovely! If you come to this restaurant, I promise, you will go back.
Jessica Landsgesell
I tried to order online using a gift card but there was no payment option for gift card. So I called in to place my order. The man on the phone said there was a 20% upcharge for ordering to go (which was odd because there was no upcharge ordering online). So we decided to dine in. Our server was Lynn. She was fantastic- knowledgeable and attentive. The food was delicious. We had a great dine in experience. I don't recommend calling in a to go order because 20% upcharge seems excessive. But I will definitely be returning to eat there.
Constance MacFarlane
Not many places to eat in Nashville for breakfast but fortunately this place was great. We got there early before the crowds. Best Gouda grits ever.
Emily Elliott
Took my mother in law here for her birthday dinner. We were concerned at first when we walked in at 5pm to an empty cafe. However, we ended the night with being very surprised and pleased with the food! Very good! I would highly recommend the shrimp and grits! Also, the coconut cream cake was amazing!!! 🤤😍 …
Capt. Blackthorne
Excellent service, I asked for the quickest small breakfast on the menu (which is not an everyday ask) and they delivered. Every one was friendly and courteous. I would highly recommend for a good staple breakfast place.
Charlie Graham
Amazing! Great meal, great service, and a cool environment. We enjoyed our frist breakfast in Nashville so much that we decided to go back one more time before we left. I highly recommend the Nashville Pigs in a Blanket, they are incredible.
Scott Frakes
Seated right at our reservation time, friendly/professional staff, and excellent food. Shrimp and grits (entree) was EXCELLENT. Ron (waiter) was just the right balance of helpful and accessible - but not intrusive.
Katrina Paillere
The place was a bit overpriced for the quality and quantity of food. I ordered the shrimp and grits (the grits were really good) and lobster Mac n cheese (great). My husband ordered the meatloaf (mushy and horrible) and the chicken with capers and asparagus (bland). The service was excellent, our waitress was very accommodating, warm and friendly, she gave us a free dessert because she could tell our first experience wasn’t the best, but it still couldn’t distract us from the lackluster food and prices! We will NOT be back!
Dominic Savoldelli
I had the "Nashville pigs in a blanket" and it was great! Awesome place with a cool atmosphere and excellent staff. This place is a midtown gem
Franchetta Greer
Great food and consistent! Love how quaint it is and quality food. I take clients there quite frequently.
Drew McNeal
Nice upscale environment. Wonderful selection of offerings throughout the day.
The cons that removed stars:
Slow service, order delivered incorrectly, coffee was cold, english muffin was not toasted.
Otherwise food was good, environment good.
T. Gordon
This is my kind of place. Small and intimate. Food made from scratch, cooked to order. I can't wait to go back and try some other things from the menu. This food made me hum while I ate it and that's how I know it's top tier!
Brooks Maxwell
We happened upon Midtown Cafe on a quick overnight trip to Nashville, and wow, we were pleasantly surprised! The food was awesome, especially the smoked gouda grits, and the service was spectacular. Will definitely be on our list of places to visit on our next trip!!
Peter Weyant
Rock star service and food. Order a meat dish over fish, you are in TN
Jerry Martocci
Loved this place! American fare with a Southern spin. Delicious. My wife and our friend had the Shrimp and Grits. Both loved it. I had the Shrimp and Pasta. Also excellent, although it was similar to Shrimp Scampi. Prices were expensive about $30 each ala carte.
Service was good. The waitress stopped by often to be sure we had everything we needed.
There's no music which may or may not be a good thing.
John Smith
Came here today for lunch with 2 coworkers for Restaurant Week! I'd heard about this place but never got around to actually going, so I took this chance to go. We made a reservation (it's VERY busy this week even at lunch, so make sure you do the same) and arrived a bit late but still had our table. The server was pretty helpful and explained the dishes we asked about like the soup I ended up getting.
For the first course, I got the soup of the day, which was a delicious Manhattan Chowder. This soup had fish in it, which tasted very fresh, along with other vegetables like onions and tomato which added flavor despite the fresh fish being the predominant flavor. Very tasty.
For the entree, I picked the beef tenderloin with mashed potatoes. The beef was more of a moist mixture, since it had mushrooms, onion(?), and a bit of bacon - although there was a pretty good flavor to it, it wasn't very strong. Meanwhile, the mashed potatoes were delicious! Just the right texture, the right amount of salt, and there must have been a bit of garlic or something else in there. Loved them.
I also tried the shrimp and grits one of my coworkers got, and I almost wish I'd gotten that! The mashed potatoes on my dish were definitely better than the grits alone (I personally dislike grits in almost all cases), but as a whole the shrimp and grits dish seemed to taste better.
I'd come back here for a nice dinner. Very classy and great food.
Greg Mason
Good change of pace from the normal Nashville dining experience. Tablecloth service and upscale menu set this place apart. The food is really good. This place is small so a reservation is needed. Would have given 5 stars but they were out of 3 different beers and a couple of the menu items.
Bill Nevils
Great bartender with mixed drinks for starters. Really nice ambience for dinner with Excellent selection. We had a perfect steak as well as shrimp & grits and loved them both. Highly recommend if you're looking for a really nice meal away from all the Busy party places.
Morgan Caswell
Great little spot to have a great meal. Very professional staff that took great care of our large group. The brussel sprouts were AMAZING and the little biscuits were just delicious. Our whole meal was wonderful and the restaurant even shuttled our group back to our hotel. Great little place!
Cyndael Thomas
Fabulous food. We went for brunch. The smoked Gouda grits were amazing, as was everything I ordered, but particularly the grits, since I don't normally care for them. BTW they were very accommodating on making substitutions for a vegetarian breakfast. Highly recommend.
Deborah Crusan
Great food! Make a reservation. Yum!
Robert Powers
Had the Restaurant Week specials and discovered they came from the regular menu. Quaint little place, cozy, excellent service, food quality was wonderful, tasty and served hot. I had a pre dinner cocktail and the wine pairings with dinner and all were amazing. My three course dinner consisted of the roasted brussel sprouts, the pan seared grouper and the bourbon chocolate pecan pie.
Amazing place all around, we will definitely go back.
Lee Clough
Excellent food and great staff!
Thank you fie a great evening!
Dan Josephson
Great service, cozy atmosphere and amazing food
dana robinson
This makes my 3rd visit to Midtown Café. The first time was a professional luncheon, second time was by myself, and third time was with my Mother and my three cousins for Mother's Day weekend. I must say it gets better each time. My cousin from Cookeville, TN had Shrimp and Grits (amazing), my cousin from Pittsburgh, PA had fried green tomatoes 💣 and I had Nashville's Pigs in a Blanket❤. My Mother and cousin raved about the pancakes and French toast. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE!!!
Sarah M.
An absolute delight! This was such a pleasant surprise. From the outside, it has the look of maybe a hole-in-the-wall breakfast joint, but as soon as you walk in, you're in for a treat. It has a romantic, well-designed atmosphere with tasteful decor. The service was phenomenal and prompt.
And the FOOD! Delicious. This restaurant completely won me over. I'll be back.
Cody Gaccetta
Calming atmosphere, felt classy but not over priced. Food was great, presented well, it was not prepared in a hurry. Staff was friendly, service was exceptional, definitely a must visit for brunch!
Gregory Peppard
Great place to eat. Excellent food with right sized portions. Recommend a reservation, not a large seating area.
Tyler Wilcox
Decent food with no vegetarian-friendly options except for their salads. I enjoyed my mixed greens salad. The kitchen was accommodating and prepared me a risotto with green beans and asparagus since I am vegetarian. It was decent, but not particularly exciting. The menu is rather expensive for the quality of the food. The non-vegetarians in our party seemed to be enjoy their meals for the most part. The creme brûlée was pretty good.
Jack Fenkhuber
Great brunch. Fantastic menu options.
Mary Henahan
Loved the place even before I knew that it was a Randy Rayburn establishment! A soothing beautifully appointed dining room staffed by consummate professionals allows one to immediately feel at ease and catered to. The scrumptious breakfast was first rate, the French press coffee perfectly potent, and the service impeccable! Thank you all for starting our stay in Nashville on a wonderful note.
Ed VanVoorhees
Fabulous Meal - The pork tenderloin is WONDERFUL! Cooked to perfection with a risotto side. It's yummy. Check their wine list too! Great selections for all tastes and pocketbooks. We've gone there since it's founding. Midtown always has a great menu and meal.
Walter Herbison
One of the best places in the area. Food is consistently great, reasonably priced and the service is great. Tip....The Brussel Sprout Salad WITH Salmon, the Chicken Croquettes, and save room for the Coconut Cake. Ask for it, even if it's not on the menu!
Kazmo Groove
This place is almost hidden surrounded by construction sites. But once you walk in, they have a simple and relaxing space. Bloody Mary was good. The classic American breakfast was good. The waitress was nice.
Jamee Ramsey
Amazing dinner. My compliments to our weight staff and the chef on my martini, the brussel sprouts and sea bass melted in my mouth. Highly recommend!
Michael Porter
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Nashville. I've been five or six times and each time am impressed by the nice staff and really well done meals. Their southern fusion approach works well for my palate. The shrimp and grits appetizer is really good as well.
Jordan Simpson
Food was delicious! Very nice and fancy appearance. Service wasn't over the top but very pleasant. Highly recommended foods: fried chicken biscuits and gravy, smokes Gouda grits and the pancakes
Jerry Boswell
We love having a fantastic meal at Midtown Cafe then riding their free shuttle to a show downtown. We each started with the signature lemon and artichoke soup. My wife had an organic salad and one appetizer crab cake. I had the special blackened sea bass with lobster risotto and sauteed spinach. Everything was perfect ! ! ! Then their shuttle dropped us off and picked us up from the Schermerhorn Symphony Center > > Easy Breezy.
Gary Archuleta
Staff was great. Menu was a little light. Gouda grits were out of this world! Tess was a great waitress.
Sam Haksteen
Super friendly staff, gave us some insider info on what to do while we were in town and the food was great. The mimosa stood out more than anything though, tasted fresh squeezed with the right proportion of OJ to Sparking wine. Nice decore inside as well.
Kelsey Down
Don't be deceived by the humble exterior—this is a really nice little cafe with friendly service and delicious food. Highly recommend the fried green tomatoes benedict! It was unlike any benedict I've had before—sooo good.
Paul Park
Super friendly, professional and the food was amazing! I’ve been here twice and they act like they have known me forever. Breakfast tostada all day!
Scott Derby
I'm from Tampa. My friend flew in from Philly. This place is a gem. They serve breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. The service and atmosphere were awesome. The food was even better. So worth the price. A must indeed. We're only in Nashville for a few days. Very pleased we found this place. You will not be disappointed.
Phillip Stephens
Really loved this place. Food was really good and as we were first timers our waiter let us try the lemon artichoke soup (apparently a customer favorite) Wasn't my thing but he was so nice! We split the brussel sprouts (a daily special) and the pork. Everything was so good and we'd definitely go back!
Josh Higgins
Really good food. Scallops were cooked perfectly. Decent wine selection.
Jeff Roche
A Nashville original and continues to deliver. Great menu representing local flare and tasty options that serve any finicky person in the group.
David Stewart
Welcome to one of Open Table's 2020 Top 50 Best Southern Restaurants. Consistently good for years, but eclipsed by concrete under construction on a side street off my usual paths, Midtown is too often an afterthought. It shouldn't be. Mask-on or mask-off (an exercise that builds character and survivability for COVID ninja warriors,) the Cafe is a consistent, go-to brunch and dinner spot.
Like a lost thing found, arriving at the Midtown is a treat with realization of "it's still here" and parting satisfaction of "it's still great." Parking is sparse and tight with spaces on all four sides of the building. It's less full in the mornings. For evening visits you'll want to valet or rideshare.
lf Lemon-Artichoke soup is on the card, it's worth enjoying. The chicken croquettes are warm, mildly sweet crunches of Southern comfort. Things on a biscuit are excellent as are the a la carte options. No class barriers found on this menu as snooty braised, poached, and hollandaised mains appear elbow-to-elbow amongst scrambled, griddled, and fried commoners.
From the dinner menu, I highly recommend either of the crab cake, trout, meatloaf (I don't usually like meatloaf!,) scalloppini, or beef filet. There's so seldom bad bite to be found.
Nash Angeles skyscraper seeds are sprouting too often on smaller, older properties. Cross your fingers that Midtown is able to outlive "progress." Or just have a Bloody Mary (they're also good here) and think about something else.
Kimberly Pierce
Our server Doug was fast and friendly. First time there...delicious food with a full bar! I will be back!!
Rosie Rose
This restaurant is a Nashville staple and the owner Randy Rayburn is known for always having the best of the best.
They have an extensive menu from breakfast to late night you owe it to yourself when you come to Nashville to go to the Midtown Cafe
Chandra Brandon
The scallops with lobster mac n cheese is divine, I will dream about this dish. The wine list is superb too. The staff is wonderful and friendly and there's a good crowd at the bar. I will definitely be back.
Bryan Burnick
Had reservations available for a busy Saturday brunch so we picked this spot. Other than taking a few extra minutes to get seated everything was wonderful. Service and food on point.
T Bushnell
Straight forward and honest homestyle dishes. They would be considered simple by today's standard, but each plate really showed the pride and quality of being honed for 30+ years. My favorite breakfast I had while in town!
Andrew Kim
It was a nice and quiet place. I ordered the steak and eggs for breakfast. I was kind of disappointed with the steak size. Other than that, everything was delicious and fresh.
Heather
Salmon is amazing!! Mixed drinks are crazy good. Very kind, prompt service. Parking is tricky but valet is available.

😀 < Part I > - the Good: 😀
The food was excellent and the service was amazing. Wait times were non-existent and it wasn't overwhelmingly crowded. The prices aren't outrageous considering the location. My build your own omlet meal was about $15. The cheapest meal was about $10.
😡 < Part II > - the Bad: 😡
They were only serving breakfast at 10:00am. The breakfast menu consisted of only a few choices Your options were omelets, pancakes, eggs and bacon, or pigs in a blanket. The lunch and dinner menus had more items to choose from but we couldn't order from those menus. The table section I sat in seemed a little congested. Our table was to the left of the door as soon as you walk in. If the table directly to the left of my table was removed then it would be perfect.
🤬 < Part III > - the Ugly: 🤬
There's nothing ugly about this cafe.
🤔 < Part IV > - Overall: 🤔 On a scale of (0-100) with 0 being the worst cafe in the world and 100 being the best, Midtown Cafe scores an 8️⃣8️⃣. It's a great place to sit down and grab a quick bite to eat just make sure you go there exactly at 12:00 to be sure they will actually serve you lunch.
Larkin Briley
Food was good and service was phenomenal. 3 stars for the bar service. Ordered a Manhattan and it was shaken rather than stirred, leaving it cloudy and full of little ice chips. For a signature cocktail at a nicer restaurant , I would’ve expected a more professionally made drink.
James M
Breakfast was amazing! I only dont give this five stars for one reason. Being from out of town it was not as easy to find as I would have hoped. Very nice place inside and the staff was very friendly and food came quickly. If there was some way to make it stand out a little more it would be easier to find. The food is worth the looking for it.
Caleb Ferrell
Best French toast I've had in my life. SORRY MOM!
David Diehl
Food, service and atmosphere were impeccable. I would highly recommend and look forward to another visit when back in town.
Heather Fisher
Had a gift card & this was one of the restaurants available to use so we thought why not?!? Well this place did not disappoint & was worth it. We got the pork tenderloin & chicken "slatibocca" which were both amazing! They might also have the best biscuits ever! We had the shrimp & grits app (delish!) along with a TN Mojito & TN Manhattan. We will definitely come back, even if we have to pay for our meal!!
Patricia Correll
A good friend recommended Midtown when another friend and I were in Nashville and even made the reservation. Dale was our server and recommended the grilled Brussels sprouts - wonderful! Dale and the other servers were attentive, our steaks and sides were served as ordered - delicious, too - and, though we were disappointed the Jack Daniels Pecan Pie was sold out, there were many other dessert options from which to choose, including cappuccino! The wine list was extensive and Dale was very knowledgeable about the bourbon options, making some excellent recommendations. Small restaurant so make reservations. Bar area separate from dining room. Complimentary valet parking was a plus after a couple of days of parking in Nashville's overpriced lots.
John Stanke
Nice people and good food. We will be back...
Larissa Carneiro
I loved everything about Midtown Cafe. The service was impeccable, the biscuits were delicious, and the food was amazing!
William Bly
Best authentic southern food I've ever eaten. I might just fly back to Nashville so I can eat the shrimp and grits, which were amazing!
Jeanne Ponder
This place was awesome; quiet, local eatery located away from the strip in midtown Nashville. Delicious food and excellent service. Be sure to try the lemon artichoke soup. Highly recommended for dinner in Nashville.
Kara Ignacio
Excellent!

Save room for Creme Burlee
Robert Sung
Everything was soft. This place was like someone lived in NYC in the 80s and decided that was the height of culinary experience then built a restaurant around it, but is catering to that crowd as they got older and lost their teeth.
Whipped butter that was served with the biscuits tasted like the fridge.
I liked the mashed potatoes.
David Runneals
Biscuits and gravy were delicious!
Betsy McMillan
Thank you Randy for your hospitality to me and my friend from out of town today....with no reservation. :-0 We throughly enjoyed our luncheon experience. Our waiter, David couldn't have been more attentive and our food was fresh and hot to our table. Thank you!
Crystal Harvey
Having brunch in Nashville today with a group of 7 girls. The food was amazing!!! However the service was not the friendliest. The host was rude to my friend when she mentioned that her check was wrong and he said “that’s is why I said I would get your server” with an attitude.
Elizabeth Pereira
Great food and amazing service.
Lenie S
It was a good quick breakfast. Super friendly service.
sam cecil
It was excellent! I got the huevos tostada a great dish if you're a fan of Mexican food!
Afriana Johnson
Glad my husband noticed. Quaint spot and great food!! We had the lobster mac, shrimp and grits and Coca-Cola ribs. Would definitely return🤤 …
Jen Moskall
Wow what an amazing place of business. This is hands down a great place to eat. We wished we would of found this sooner. We would of ate here everyday. Excellent staff, amazing food and great quality food. Thank you for having organic food. The food looks like it should be in a magazine. Keep up the great work..
Ric Rini
The ambiance is a bit on the dull side (black table cloths, dark carpeting, muted painted walls), upon entering the low lightning does not help and the area has the appearance of fine dinning cafe, seems like they do not know what they want to be but it does have a relaxing atmosphere.
The place lacks good ventilation as a cooking/grill smell permeated the dinning area with that grease cooking smell..
The food was prepared well and was fresh portion size was adequate (potions are not diner size. The Gouda grits were awesome, do not leave without ordering them, especially if you like grits. The serving sizes are on the petite size, this is no dinner style but still adequate.
Our server was friendly, fast ,attentive, professional and courteous.
I'd definitely come back for the food quality but I'm hesitant due to that ventilation issue.
TIP: They have parking but only about 3 /4 spaces!!!
John LaRosa
The food was incredible. The biscuits were the best I've ever had.
Nathan Dressel
Great diner with generous portions.
Shelley S
Delicious meal. Doug was fantastic and made us feel at home. Comfortable atmosphere.
Joseph Donnelly
Food and service were exceptional, so much so, I had to go back every day for breakfast, on my vacation.
Jess C
We're big foodies who were in the area for a weekend trip, and stumbled upon this place when another restaurant didn't work out. So glad we stopped in. The biscuits they serve are absolutely melt in your mouth delicious, the food was incredible, and the service was amazing. The space we were sat in was a bit small and very close to other tables, and the prices are high, but the food was worth the cost.
Petricia Hice
Found this wonderful place by accident, so glad we did, we will be back. Best breakfast available in this area. Smoked gouda grits are amazing!, I enjoyed all my breakfast.
Micah Loewen

Jennifer Dickerson
Food was amazing. Servers were even better and the owner was super nice making suggestions for lunch since I was enjoying breakfast there. I felt extremely welcomed and would recommend this place to anyone
JetSet Kev
Gotta have the house made specialty LEMON ARTICHOKE SOUP w the little biscuits. The SHRIMP n GRITS and the PORK TENDERLOIN are my favorites. Just divine!!! Gina makes a great martini. (I just tell her to surprise me but it's not a surprise how great they are). Randy Rayburn has done it right. My go to date night or when I'm in the mood for "Causal Fine Dining"
Peggy Orendas
Lemon artichoke soup was fantastic! Shrimp /grits and pork tenderloin with risotto also delicious! Would definitely return to taste other menu items.
Steve Campbell (Soup)

This place is absolutely gorgeous, relax atmosphere, food is great, we was just passing trough Nashville and we was looking for a good place to stop and eat lunch, we was so lucky we found this place.
Pam Etter
Visited for Lunch for the first time. Usually have Dinner.
Food and service were good, but too expensive for lunch. Same price as Dinner!
Paul Nicholson (pwnicholson)
Great food, great service, good atmosphere overall - but it's a little cramped for the price and style. It feels like you're sitting at a table with the people next to you, almost family style.
Andy Suarez (Chefsuarez)
Yummy food. The menu is a little overwhelming but I enjoy the choices that are given for a Cafe.
Shemika Jordan
AMAZING food & ambiance! Being a family owned business allows them to be extremely personable. The shrimp and grit appetizer is my fave.

Jenny Escamilla Howell
Nice atmosphere but food wasn't that tasty. Ordered salmon with risotto. Risotto was bland and tomato topping was lacking.
Stacey Bowers
It's a little pricey 21.85 for a small soda and eggs Benedict. I think the eggs are poached in water with vinegar the eggs had a little bit of a tangy taste.
Cameron Collins
Always great food and service. Randy Rayburn is a great person and owner of this restaurant. Always accommodating and did I mention food is amazing. Now serving breakfast till 230pm.

Disappointing breakfast/brunch, especially after seeing the 4.6 rating. Omelettes, coffee and grits were all a bit underwhelming.

Definitley a finer dining cafe feel with mid-range pricing. More entree type menu and not really a sandwich place as only two kinds are on the menu.

Had the Reuben sandwich and the sautéed spinach. It was delicious. I would eat here again, and apparently so would a whole bunch of people. It was pretty busy for lunch.
