Reviews of Martin's Bar-B-Que Joint
Matt Reeves
Martin's was awesome. I had the two meat plate and it delivered. The sauce they offer was really good as well. Service was excellent, great atmosphere, very impressed and this is coming from a Texan. I'll definitely be back on my next trip to Nashville. Highly recommend if you want great BBQ and a great atmosphere.
Jonathan Spencer
The food was great. I had the cheeseburger (I know, I know) but I had to try the smoked bologna as well and it was delicious. The best part was the service. The staff so so friendly and helpful that the food could have been mediocre (it wasn’t) and I would still come back because they treated me so well. At the end of your meal they bring you little moon pies for dessert. Give Martin’s a try!
Katrina Robison
It was ok. I got the brisket sandwich and macaroni and cheese. The M&C, was not good. I do suggest not getting that as a side. It was gritty and watery. Husband got the brisket burger (hahahaha), it was a burger patty with one tiny slice of brisket. My husband was like, what the heck. I told him yep, we were bamboozled, but their ice is better than Sonic ice. 2 meals and drinks, not worth $35.

We were puzzled at the entry because we didn’t know how service worked. Fortunately, a kind patron gave us instructions. We ordered at the counter and was served in minutes. The food here is really good. Try the brisket. It’s so tender and flavorful. This should be a definite stop if you’re stopping in Nashville.

Just passing through town... But when in Nashville you gotta do BBQ. Martin's did not disappoint. When they bring out the brisket and only hand you a fork you know it's gonna be good. Hush puppies were on point. This place was recommended to me and I would like to pass that along. I highly recommend.

Second introduction to West Tennessee bbq and another rockstar experience. These were the most flavorful, tender, meaty ribs I've ever had, then the Brisket comes in just as rich and smoky and perfect- I can't decide which was better so I'd probably get that same combo every time. Staff was all extremely friendly and gave me the lowdown on all their sauce options which were each done really, really well. I didn't care for the hoecake but no big deal, was still worth trying. If I were coming back through Nashville and have the chance to stop- it will be for Martins!
Sade Richardson
The best barbecue I've had in a long time. We got the sampler which was perfect to share for two. We also got two additional sides but we didn't need those. The rub on the ribs and brisket is so delicious. The sauce sets it off to another level. The mac and cheese band bake beans are a treat together! Lastly, Gina was a delight! Overall, I'd highly recommend you stop by for some tasty and affordable food.

FANTASTIC BBQ! highly recommend coming here with a group of friends and trying alittle of everything cause it’s all good. Kyle and Jack were very helpful and had a lot of enthusiasm. The decorations are very fun. Large space good for bigger parties. The sauce was excellent. Pour alittle of jacks creek on everything and you’re having a good time.
Marcus Hanley
Really neat place with good atmosphere. Had the brisket and wife had pulled pork. Both were really good with great smoke flavor! Next time I swing through town I’ll stop in.
Miles From Nowhere
Nothing but great things to say about our Martin’s BBQ Joint visit! I was surprised by the best pecan pie I’ve ever had in my life! The staff was friendly, kind and took care of us. Fantastic BBQ! I would give 6 stars if I could.
Jamie Williams
Oh man...the barbeque is great!! Beer was local breweries and cold. The bartender could check on her customers more. I planned on having a few brewskies, but only had two...and had to put my empty glass on edge of bar.....then just yelled, mam, mam...another server got me...otherwise great place!
Danny Sarmiento
Some of the best barbecue I have ever had. Regional specialty while still being super delicious, I recommend a stop to anyone in Nashville. They have multiple sauces to try to if that interests you as well. When I return to Nashville I will for sure be back for more!

Martin’s Bar-B-Que joint was an exceptionally awesome dining experience. I spent my last night in Nashville this week and just had to try this place after passing by it a few times during my strolls from my hotel. I regret not going earlier in my trip and perhaps eating here more than once! I will admit it was busy the first time I saw it when I was walking around, but when I experienced it myself, I could absolutely see why! I wish I knew the name of the gentleman that took my order, whom I believe was the manager. He was incredibly kind and welcoming! I loved his energy! I ordered the pulled pork shoulder with a side of mac and cheese, and a side of hush puppies (I’ve never had hush puppies before and boy was I in for a great surprise). The food was simply outstanding. The atmosphere only exemplified how great the food was! I will be back here when I visit Nashville again someday, I can assure you of that!

Absolutely Loved the two men at the register and they're enthusiasm about their jobs and the barbecue that they make. We're very thankful that we drove 2 hours just to come there to eat dinner and then drive back home. The BBQ RIBS AND BRISKET WERE AMAZING. I personally was not crazy about the sauce but the food was tasteful, hot and plentiful and a fun atmosphere. Will definitely be back! The Broccoli Salad was perfect. I am a Chef and make this at my own restaurant. Bravo!!!!
John Hite
Pretty average bbq experience. Pulled pork was the fattiest I've ever had (and I've had a lot). Under what looked like proper q were two unappetizing hunks of fat. Beans were pretty good. Mac n cheese was over sauced with a too loose sauce. Hushpuppies were overcooked and too dry. Staff was nice. Place was clean. Decorated like you'd expect a q joint to be decorated.
Andrea Maronyan
Absolutely amazing, we had the full slab of dry ribs, sampled all 5 of their amazing homemade sauces, pulled pork, slaw, potato salad, corn cake. After the first bite, we were in heaven. Atmosphere and crew are awesome too!
Dean Ehrenheim
Need BBQ? Consider Martin’s. I went because of the food network. Whole hog is rare and I liked it. So why 4 instead of 5 stars.
The sides were great, fresh cut fries! Wonderful. Broccoli salad, also excellent. The atmosphere was upbeat and fun.
But when it comes right down to it, my brisket was dry. What about the pork. Not as, but also a tad dry. The sauces, 4, were unique but I didn’t love any of them. But that’s just me.
5 for the sides and atmosphere. 4 for the meat. But give it a try. I am glad I did and next time the meat may be a 5 too!
Shannon Williams
After searching online we found this gem of a place! The service was fantastic and we had the nicest guy taking our order. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. My husband and I both ordered dinners that included the brisket, which was the best brisket we have ever eaten. It was so tender, juicy and flavorful! The atmosphere was wonderful, and was very family-friendly, which was very important since we had our 3-year-old with us. I opted to get the fudge pie to go to enjoy in our hotel. It was the best fudge pie ever! We highly recommend Martin's and will definitely eat here again the next time we are in town.
Heather Nicole
Howdy y'all! If y'all are ever in Nashville I definitely recommend this BBQ spot!!!!! I recommend the brisket burger 🤤 y'all don't understand how much I had been craving this burger ever since I knew I was going to make my trip to Tennessee 😁 y'all come on down now! …

WOW x 3!! EXCELLENT Food & Service!
SIDES (baked beans, green beans & macaroni ) were super tasty!!
Parking is very easily accessible!
PO
Delicious BBQ and friendly people. The brisket was cooked perfectly u till tender but not dry. The ribs were good but a little over cooked and dry. Service was quick and friendly and they bring the food to your table after you order. They slow smoke all the meat in house the old fashioned way.
Hayden Ponder
First time trying the place, visiting Nashville on vacation. The food was decent. Nothing I had was outright bad, nothing was outstanding either. I ordered the "paddy" melt with brisket, Mac n cheese, and fries. I have had better elsewhere, but was still good enough to eat it all. My wife got the fried chicken sandwich. The menu did not say anything about it being covered in honey mustard, but it was. No big deal, cleaned it off with a napkin, but it did ruin her lunch.
The service was not bad, but not stellar either. I will give the service a pass though, because they were filling metric tons of carryout orders for Thanksgiving. I figure on a normal day they aren't nearly as run ragged as I saw.
The atmosphere was good, lots of wall decor to look at, and plenty of room for different sized parties to sit and eat and have space.
Bathroom was not super clean, but it wasn't filthy. No major complaints there.
I would give them another try to see if anything changed due to not being the day before a holiday.
Jennifer K
Admittedly not my favorite barbeque joint in the area, but it does the trick! Friendly staff and good service. I got the Redneck Taco which was pretty good and just the right amount of food
Nikola Kirchhoff
I ordered, to go, their 4 rib spare ribs with hush puppies and smoked green beans as well as their brisket burger with their chips.
The ribs are good! They're slightly tough so it's not falling apart on you, but it comes off the bone cleanly.
The hush puppies are definitely some of the better ones I've had and have small chunks of onion in em.
The smoked greens are ok; they're not something to write home about.
The brisket burger is a good burger and definitely recommend you try it at least once. The only issue I had is with the chips being slightly overcooked, but I'm probably just unlucky.
Tldr: ribs, brisket burger, and hush puppies are good. The chips are hit or miss depending on how long they cook em, and the smoked green beans are alright

This place is a GEM. Real BBQ at its finest. All of the food is amazing and the staff is super helpful. We live in FL and every time we are in Nashville we make special trips out of our way to dine here for lunch and dinner. The meats are always so good and the sides are simply amazing too. The casual environment is great too. Best BBQ in the South!
Olivia Samplawski
My husband and I split the brisket tacos. It came with 2 tacos and we both got a side of Mac and cheese. It was the perfect size for the both of us when we needed something small for a late lunch! We really enjoyed the tacos but the Mac was average. BBQ was watery but the flavor was awesome! The atmosphere was cool too!! Luckily our wait wasn’t too long but we went around 1pm on a Sunday.
Cynthia R
Came here on a foodie tour so didn’t get to try a lot or big portions but what I did have was delish. Tried the spare ribs, brisket and hush puppy. The staff was very friendly and service was fast.
Linda McKinney
We went here because it was on diners drive-ins and dives. It was so good. I cannot explain how awesome the ribs were and the smoked brisket. These types of sauces they provided were awesome. You won’t go wrong visiting here and you will get more than enough to take some back to your room or to your home
Riley Qualls
My favorite bbq place in Nashville! Make sure to grab a moon pie on your way out!
Thomas Enoch
Really good BBQ but way overpriced. It was to go order but very skimpy. Think if we would have dined in would have been more food.
Jan Pavel Kovar
Amazing quiet restaurant away from the busy city.. excellent menu and tasty dishes, baby back ribs, wings, brisket, etc. Beers on tap were local. All persons especially the young gentleman at the beginning taking our order was super upbeat and attentive to us. This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend who was also impressed.
Gregory Cohen
The best cuts of meat, slow cooked to perfection. Amazing dry rub and a variety of sauces to slather on top if you so desire.
My jaw dropped when I saw the cost of a full slab, but as often happens in life, you get what you paid for. At the end of the meal, I felt like I got a bargain. Every time I go to or pass through Nashville, I have and will continue to stop at Martin's Bar-B-Que.
Joseph Raczynski
Incredible BBQ! The staff was super friendly, but the food topped it all. The pulled pork was ridiculously succulent. The sauses were really good.
One of my favorite sides was the potato salad.
Trina Hughes
My boyfriend and I came out for the CMA fest and asked our hotel concierge who they recommended for good local bbq and they sent us here. O-M-G the best bbq I have ever had!! Now to find out Guy Fieri recommended makes sense! It was nothing short of amazing!!
Sayyad Mohammed
Brisket was nice and tender. Nice smoke on it. Chicken fall off the bone. The brisket portion size was small for the price is my only complaint.
Lydia Garritt
Martin's BBQ was amazing! We had them cater our wedding last minute a month before our wedding. They were more than accommodating and incredibly professional. Their food was one of the highlights of our wedding, our guests loved it!
Oyin Ortiz
Did a weekend road trip from Chicago to Nashville for our anniversary - we went ro visit Martin's. And oh my gosh, hands down perfection. We entered and received amazing service and awesome food. Food was so delicious we stuffed ourselves. Hubby had the full slab, I tried the brisket tacos and we shared some smoked wings with a dry rub.. Tender, flavorful, finger lickin, and just damn good. Definitely will visit Nashville again and must come back to Martin's. Don't leave Nashville without stopping in to Martin's - you'll be glad you did.
Andi
I loved the decor and easy going atmosphere of this place. Aside from the expected bbq and southern foods, they offer deserts (pies mainly), beer and bourbon.
A good place for the entire family.
Mary Stubben
THE LITERAL BEST LUNCH EVER, so yummy the pulled pork with the sweet barbecue sauce and the crisp crunch when you bite into the sandwich mmmmm so good! and the green beans are incredible! and the customer service was the best i've ever had. the nicest people ever and the yummiest food ever! highly recommend!!
Don Frasco
There is no secret why this place is one of Nashville's best BBQ spot. I love the lively atmosphere. Parking is free. Cafeteria style ordering of food. Lots of beer choices on tap. Staff are friendly.
Matt Hobbs
Absolutely amazing! Always is. I forgot to take pics cause I was so hungry! I got the dry rub wings for the first time and man, my mind and my tastebuds were blown!!! I’ll be back again soon for more and I’ll be sure to take some photos next time. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Pat Nichols
Always a great meal at Martin's. I had the redneck taco with catfish and the broccoli salad. Really good food and fine service. We had someone from out of town with us who always wants a Martin's meal when he comes to Nashville. One of our favorite places.
Erastos Evdoxiadis
I ate the turkey BBQ here as part of a larger order. The turkey unfortunately was very fry and the thick cut chips caused my stomach to hurt for a couple of hours afterwards. The flavor was bland and the chips way too salted. When I went to pick up the food, the staff was really nice and quick and the main dinning area was very cool. They offered to deliver but the delivery fee is 12.5%, if I am not wrong and for our order would have been about $40, to go half a mile and about 4 large paper bags without drinks. I find that incredibly expensive for a three minute drive and a straight shot. I am not sure I would go back again. I heard the pulled pork was better but with so many other BBQ options in Nashville I am sure I want to risk it.
Tyineeka
I had the beef brisket plate. My two sides were green beans and baked beans. My entire meal was delicious. Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. I definitely recommend it.
SHELLY MCDANIEL
Delish! Great all around BBQ joint. The sides were as good as the meat.
Got pork sandwich, 4 bones, potato salad and baked beans which my husband and I shared. It is a hug for your tummy!
Demetrius Theus
BBQ was juicy and flavorful. Service was quick.
George Bewley
Took my family during our stay in Nashville. The food does not disappoint. Ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and brisket tacos are all on point. The staff was super friendly and the service was great. We left full and happy! Doesn't get much better than that.
Karen Whitmer
Highly recommend!!!!!!!!!!Friendly service. Clean. Great food. Best brisket I have ever eaten.
J & W Belem
Visited this restaurant on a food tour. The food was delicious. It was one of the best BBQ places I have tried. I can't speak to the service because the tour facilitated getting the food. They had several BBQ sauces to choose from. I preferred the Alabama white sauce (this from a Memphian... LOL). The brisket was tender, juicy, and melts in your mouth. The ribs were fall off the bone tender. I will definitely visit again. I couldn't give a full five stars because I didn't really experience the service.
Keenan Myers
There is no doubt this is the number one barbecue in the Belmont Hillsboro area. The price is a little high, but for the quality, customer service, and overall experience, you can’t beat it. The parking can sometimes be shoty but that comes with every restaurant near the city, especially one of this caliber. I recommend the brisket and hush puppies as a side. This picture doesn’t do the food justice in flavor, but sure does in looks. Great job Martin’s.
Chris Sheffield
Went as a recommendation and glad I did. Probably best BBQ I've had yet. They cook whole hog and sell until they run out. Pork was moist and flavorful even with no sauce. Brisket was amazing. Sides and cornbread complemented well. Stop if you are close to a location. Jack's Creek sauce is usually on the table but you can ask for a thicker one called Sweet Dixie that is delicious also.
Kevin Lengerich
So good!!
We stopped here while comparing BBQ places and we all agreed that this was the best we had! We tried nearly everything on the menu and it was all FANTASTIC! Some of the best I've had!
Martin's had the best brisket that we found in all of Nashville or Memphis! Everything else was excellent as well! Great pulled pork. Great ribs. All of the meats were excellent. The baked beans were fantastic! All of the other sides were really good.
The restaurant had a cool vibe (even in the COVID reality).
Prices were slightly high, but within the normal range for BBQ. However, the food was so good that it was definitely worth it.
If you are in Nashville and want some excellent BBQ - go to Martin's!! You won't be disappointed.
Highly recommend!

This was me and my husband first time here we was with a tour call tasting and sightseeing of Nashville I highly recommend that tour. If you never visit Nashville you would definitely want to take tours this is how we get to know and love the food and different things that was going on in Nashville And it was our first time we really didn’t know where to go thank God for reviews and reading so I highly suggest do some tours you will learn places to eat and know where you want to come back to. You learn historical moments history with this tour you learn drinking and nightlife with some of the others lol 😂 The ribs here at Martin’s was definitely good the brisket was so tender the hush puppies was excellent this was a tasting we did several others on his tour even had desserts stops. We did two desert tours one was A doughnut distillery with Mamosa‘s omg 😳 WHOOO HOOO We had a whiskey doughnut and then you pick the next donut and a Mimosas and went back later that day to buy more donuts 🍩 lord Jesus. We are headed back to Martin’s ribs this morning cause it definitely was not enough and we also are going to buy some rib rub and sauces. Then will check out Hattie B’s we were told to visit there before we leave so Hattie here we come to lol 😂.

Was in Nashville for the eclipse and decided to get some barbecue while we were in town...this place lives up to the hype. Awesome, bustling environment, great beer list, impressive whiskey selection, and the food was as good as it was fast. Don't screw around with the other barbecue sauces...the house sauce was good enough to be mopping off of the plate with the provided white bread.
Definitely check them out. The prices are fair, the food is delicious, and the environment feels like something straight out of a movie. Great stuff.
Huw Bryant
We ordered pulled whole hog, smoked turkey sandwich, smoked wings, baked beans, slaw and mac n cheese. Everything was 10/10. Delicious, tasty, amazing. If it was possible, the smoked wings would get a score of 11/10 - the flavour was just incredible. Every bite was so satisfying. We even stayed to watch the hog being prepared and seasoned for the long cook over the coals. Amazing to watch, and such a great experience. Highly recommended.
Virgilia French
Great bar-b-q as always. This is our go to place when we feel like barbeque. The big momma sampler good for 4 people with different kinds of meats and 4 sides is our favorite in the menu.
Broccoli salad and coleslaw are delicious when paired with baby back rib, pulled pork and briskets. Sweet Dixie, a sweet and tangy sauce, we found is the perfect pair for the bbq's.
The place is casual with happy and positive vibes elevated by the smell of the barbecue meat (whole hog) cooking right there inside the restaurant.
Jeremy VanSlyke
I have been a fan of Martin's Barbeque Joint in Nashville for years, and it remains my all-time favorite restaurant. Whenever I visit, I always make sure to get the ribs, which are always cooked to perfection - tender and flavorful with just the right amount of smoke. The crispy potato chips are another must-try, and they make the perfect side to the ribs or any other item on the menu. The atmosphere at Martin's is also great - it's always lively and energetic, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Overall, I highly recommend Martin's Barbeque Joint for anyone in Nashville looking for top-notch barbecue and a fun dining experience

It's not often I drop a review before leaving a place, but this couldn't wait. THIS IS BBQ DONE RIGHT. Man, I'm still in hog heaven so much that I can hardly type, but listen, this place got it ALL right. Don't miss this.
James Collier
Service was excellent, solid beer taps. Smoked Turkey sandwich and Mac and cheese were ridiculously good. Brisket was pretty solid and worth the few extra bucks. Coming from Texas I was glad to see it not drenched in sauce. All in all, good bbq.
Ashley Roach
The best pork medallions EVER!!! We bought 2 extra orders home to the kids! The customer service was great, every employee!
Brian Marsh
The smell and ambience was amazing. The pricing is down right reasonable. Staff had a great sense of humor and was always there to assist in brain sauce and other accessories. My only complaint is they don't seem to understand what "moist brisket" is but it was very very tasty
Leroy McCarty
The meat was excellent. I'm a KC BBQ fan and the dry BBQ was quite a bit different. So I droned it in the sweet vinegar and pepper "sauce." Great flavor. Deviled eggs basic but good. Fries and hush puppies basic. The real story is the meat.
Dan S
Hand's down the best BBQ I've ever had.
I got brisket and spare ribs, the brisket was tender and flavourful on it's own and went down outstandingly with their Alabama sauce. The ribs were fantastic, crispy, smokey outside with great BBQ flavour, and wonderfully tender on the inside.
I started "hitting the wall" about 2/3 of the way through my meal, but it was so good there was no way I was taking it to go!
Diana Smith
Oh my heck, I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH positive about this place! I'm VERY picky with BBQ, this place superseded my expectations! They have all kinds of cool rubs, sauces and kitchen gear to purchase so you can remember your dining experience at home!
Mike Bourne
Hot diggity dog.
Excellent service. Excellent meat. I could eat here till I die. And I might if I keep ordering this Devils Nectar sauce. Take heed, it's hot.
Thier brisket is out of this world. While hog pulled pork was rich in flavour, but alas still needed the moisture of one of their excellent sauces. I won't hold that against them though. Not when it's this good.

If you like pork, then this is a must have - Fried Bologna sandwich. Believe me it is nothing you have ever had before. Juicy, crispy and so delicious. I got it with sides of French Fries and Potato Salad. Don’t judge me, I crave for potato and as you know my blog title alone says, ‘There is no life without potatoes’. This delicious sandwich is served with mustard, onion and pickle and it costs $7.49. The sides - Potato Salad and French Fries are for $2.99 each (prices taken from their website).
A sliced Beef Brisket sandwich ($9.49) with Hush Puppies ($2.99) sure won Debarshi’s heart. We shared French fries while listening to the live music. I love crunchy French fries with sweet and sticky barbecue food. In fact, I dip them in the barbecue sauce so that they also get a tangy sweet flavor. Martin's have their classic sweet and spicy vinegar sauce which they use for everything – while cooking, as a splash on the finished barbecue sandwiches, on slaw, pulled chicken and for marinating the meats before grilling.

THE ABSOLUTE BEST BBQ RESTAURANT I HAVE EVER EATEN AT! Everything was good, the meats were perfectly seasoned, the sides tasted good, everything was tender, and I can eat here everyday!

LOVED this place! we got brisket and ribs (half wet half dry), cornbread and mac & cheese. all were delicious!
Jeff Bredt
The first time we came to Martin's, we drove across town as fast (and as safely) as possible to get there before they closed. Making it with minutes to spare, we were informed that all the BBQ was done- all gone. They could make us some chicken strips. Disappointed, but hungry, we accepted the chicken gratefully. We left determined to get some solid BBQ from here.
Next morning we were third through the door, and ordered some serious eats. Every single bite of the ribs, beans, cornbread, chicken, pulled pork (I was quite hungry) was delicious. The pecan pie was so good (how good was it?), it was so good that my daughter (aged 13 at the time), who hated pecan pie, tried it and ate two slices by herself. She insisted on purchasing a 'Pigonaci' tee-shirt.
When we return to Nashville, a return to Martins's is at the top of our list of 'must-do' activities.

So in my quest to find a Tennessee BBQ restaurant with something for everyone I needed to feed, I'm glad we chose this spot to check out. Friendly, quick service and a surprising robust tap list for a relatively small place. The pulled pork shoulder with fries and hush puppies was really good, and the Blackberry Farm saison was basically a perfect compliment. The kids both liked the burger and the chicken tenders, as well. Busy for a Thursday at lunch, but all around, a solid choice and a fun place to check out.
Lisa Mayberry
Good lunch spot to get bbq ribs, brisket, and pulled pork. Broccoli salad is super tasty.
Brad Ward
Consistently the best ribs. I come here every time I’m in town and have yet to find their ribs anything but falling off the bone tender. I order them naked (no extra spice) but you can get them wet. Sides are good too! Don’t know about other menu items, never tried anything else. If you like ribs big St. Louis style ribs this is a safe bet.
K Broadbent
My Dinner looked nothing like the photos shown by others. Had brisket platter, about 5 short, narrow scrubby pieces of brisket.
Robin Craus
Great food. I tried the pulled pork with potato salad and it was awesome. The interior was pretty cool. We lived looking at all the old pictures and license plates. The staff were very polite and you can tell they love their jobs. Definitely a must for the next time we are in town.
andrea ortiz
Delicious meat off the bone smokedribs. Super duper soft brisket. however, the Belmont location food was fresher than the 4th Ave location.
Russell Goff
Some of the best BBQ in the Nashville area! A stop that you do not want to miss.
M H
I'd give this place a million stars if it were an option. So good. The staff was amazing. the food was the best. Picked up some retail to bring home to Arizona. We picked up some take. Would have loved to dine in, but we're traveling in our RV, parking was good but we just did t want to be in anyone's way. Didn't want to leave the dogs for long. So we grabbed a whole bunch of food to go. I now have an amazing bowl of chili for tomorrow.
shawnpbarnes1
Excellent food and service, very kind staff. I come almost every week, and I’ve always had a great experience .
Mike Woods
KCBS judge walks into a world class BBQ joint and orders a burger ??? Yes, I did that. The burger itself was very tasty, seasoned well and served Med with no request. Adding smoked bacon is a must. $9 burger? No. SAVOR-3 out of 5
Tips- use some real cheddar cheese, double the patty portion, switch to a pretzel bun, change the lettuce to red leaf or arugula, and more bacon.
Stacy Peracca
First time to the South- from Portland, Oregon. Incredible experience! The BBQ was delicious and the service was the kind that you hear about with that Southern hospitality. Jack took good care of us and made us feel welcomed and at home.
Thank you Jack and Gina!
Will definitely come back :)
10/10 reccomend.
Keanu Aultman
We used Martin's for our catering for our rehearsal dinner before our wedding. Everyone loved the food and they were so easy to coordinate with. Especially considering (insert utensil incident, I can't remember if the driver forgot them or they weren't included on the invoice). Regardless, the driver helped us figure everything out and was incredibly pleasant to work with. Martin's is a staple for BBQ in Nashville, and we were delighted to share that with our friends and family!

❤HOG HEAVEN ❤ 🐷 Here piggy piggy 🐷 If you're a Bar-B-Que connoisseur, and travel our great country looking for local favorite hangouts, don't miss Martin's. Cold beer. Iced sweet southern tea. Favorite old time bottle pop. Bar-B-Que pulled pork nachos as an appetizer for table of four. Meaty baby backs. Cornbread flat cakes. Hush puppies. Home style sides. If you have a hankering for a sandwich, don't miss out. Friendly fast service. Country but clean. Several choices of sauces.
Kevin Belden
Pretty good. Got the pound of pulled pork...it was good and a lot. Gets very busy very fast. In the dog days of summer the seating in the side areas can be a bit stifling. Their BBQ sauce is vinegar based...a bit strong but good.
Jake The Snake
Really impressed. We've had famous Dave's up north and this place was better in all honesty. Very similar serving styles, but I just liked the food here more. The ribs are a great bang for your buck, and the service was awesome. Thanks again
Brian Rohan
Meat candy! Good tasting food and great, friendly staff.
Drazan m
Brisket was super juicy and tender, ribs top 5 I ever had, pulled pork also top notch. Just don't get mac and cheese, tasted like the cardbox version. Slaw was ok, fries and baked beans are killer! The vibe is very warm, and the crowd very friendly. You can see whole pig cooked in the pit right from the seating area, very cool! Just be prepared to stand in line for loong time, this place imstays very busy. We went to downtown location first and the there were 40-50 people standing in the line outside in temps in 30's. So we came to this location and stood in the line for about 45 minutes, but at leeast it was inside the buiding and out of cold.
John Comeaux
We read in the Condi Nash magazine that this was one of the top places for barbecue and then Nashville. It totally lived up to its reputation. We had chicken, brisket, and the sides of baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, broccoli salad. The barbecue sauce was a great topping. The prices for brisket were crazy high because of the pandemic, but we thought it was very good.
Khue Tran
I got ribs (dry rub), pulled pork, mac n cheese and beans. There was a lot of hype about this being the best BBQ joint but I didn't love it. The sides were mediocre and the sauces were okay. It was not the best BBQ I have had but it's not bad either. Worth the try for yourself to see if you like it.
Erica Peoples
The atmosphere is up beat but relaxed at the same time. Your eyes have lots to see and your nose is barmbarded with that yummy Smokey smell of a good seasoned pit! Will be visiting again!
Kylea Lewis
The staff was exceptionally friendly!
I've never had BBQ(brisket) that amazingly delicious!
I would drive 4.5 hrs for this. Again!
I ate the homemade chips, best EVER!
THE UNSWEETENED TEA was best ever too!!
Justin Murillo
Dude this place is the bomb! You can tell they have pride in the food! Staff was awesome BBQ was fantastic mac and cheese was great! and super quick. Even gave me a free fire brewed cream soda. Will definitely be returning!
Alma Heredia
We really love it.
The ribs super tender, the meat fell off the bone, the brisket melted in your mouth, the bbq sauce smoking and a little bit tangy.
Kerri Bourne
Must stop! You're greeted by the smell of smoke when you walk through the door, we had the pulled pork sandwich and the brisket sandwich and both were amazing. Cool vibe and great music!
Cassidy Fonger
A Nashville BBQ must have!!! They do smoked meats right! Super fresh and tasty. We couldn’t help but purchase a couple bottles of their BBQ sauce to take home with us. We watched them loud a massive pig into their smoker, it was neat to see. Their restaurant has a really cool vibe.
JD Yeh
Need to try this again! I've heard a lot of hype about this barbeque joint from friends. I got the brisket platter, and it was great. In my opinion, the Mac and cheese could be more creamy, but the brisket was superb. The accompanying sauces just added to the experience
Patrick Londino
There are a lot of BBQ places to choose from around town but let me save you some time and tell you to look no further... Martin’s is where you want to be. The pork and brisket are awesome! They run out of certain items depending on the day and time you go(Saturday night, Vandy vs. Tennessee, and they were out of chicken... but that’s understandable). The white sauce is wicked awesome! The dry rub is worth bringing home!! Great people behind the counter and great service!
Tonya T
Never been disappointed from Martin's. Best wings and ribs. Love that Ala. Sauce. Had a cheeseburger for the first time loved it. Hands down my favorite bar b q place in Nashville.
Ben Baker
BBQ done right!!! Every time I go I try something new and they have never let me down with their bbq. Everything from the hocakes to the dry rubbed ribs is simply delicious!! And of course the staff there is extremely friendly and will walk up and help you before you can even get to the counter. This has been my family's favorite BBQ restaurant and I'm sure it will continue to be for many years.
Daniel Koh
Good BBQ but not sure if the one in downtown is better or not. The sampler is a great way to have a bit of everything!
Jeff Phillips
THIS PLACE IS AMAZING !!! We've been to a lot of BBQ places all over the country and this is one of the best. Amazing food, especially the brisket. Try some "SPARES" as in ribs. Four spares, 1.5 lbs will fill most people and comes with 2 sides! Many craft beers on tap from TN and a bar, great music and some of the best service! The walls are adorned with license plates from all over the country and music posters from the music legends that have played Nashville throughout the years. Very cool place. A must if you're ever in Nashville. Dont miss it!
Matthew Perkins
Friendly staff and very good food, pulled pork pork was good, but the brisket was maybe the best I ever had. Just passing through, but if I'm ever back in Nashville this will be a stop without question.
Clark Killingsworth
Walk in and wind your way around to the counter to order, take a number, and find a table. Menues are available in buckets. I had a whole hog sandwich with baked beans. It was excellent! Loved the crunch and sweet flavor of the slaw. The sauce was watery in texture but added a nice flavor too. The price was right. The atmosphere was nostalgic. Was told this is the best location. I believe it! Loved it!!!
David Brown
Martin's is a great place to take your family. We live 2 block's from here and I go there for lunch a couple time's a week . The staff are awesome they acknowledged you when you walk in if you want something on the menu prepared different it's no problem they make it happen. The place has a good relaxed feel the staff work together and help each other out if needed!! I've became friends with several of the staff they all say it's great place to work and they make decent money. I'm from Georgia and have eaten BBQ all over the world and no other BBQ ,rib's taste as good or as tender as Martin's BBQ . price's are very reasonable great atmosphere great staff .
Jay Lou
My sister lives in Nashville
Every time I visit her from now on this is my 1st stop. The brisket burger AMAZING!!!!
Bob White
Fantastic! All I had was the brisket, but if that is any indication of the pulled pork, it should be great. The Texas style brisket was the best east of the Mississippi I can remember. I will be back! The staff was also teriffic. They even had Cheerwine on the menu. If you've never had a Cheerwine, well...
Vanessa Nunez
Good BBQ place which you can smell from blocks away. They also sell merchandise and BBQ sauces.
Justin Ingraham
The food was barely okay. I got the 1.5 lb ribs, hoecake, hush puppies, and potato salad. The ribs and potato salad were decent. Everything else wasn't impressive. The hoecake tasted like cornbread crumbs.
Ides of March B
I don't care for BBQ, but my husband says the food was really good. I like the kitschy decorations, it's got a cool vibe
Steve Dolan
Great neighborhood location. Not too crowded. Dry rub ribs were dried out. Wet ribs =awesome! Sides were good to eat. Disappointed that there was no live music
Jonas Paxson
Great BBQ, definitely worth the stop
I liked the spicy BBQ the most
Melissa Sofia Martinez
If I could give it 15/10 I would! All of the staff was so friendly, especially the cashier we had during lunch today. The food was amazing & the ambience was on brand. Will definitely recommend this place to everyone I know
Novi Beerens
Enjoyed the food and the deco. A visit to Nashville isn’t complete without stopping by here.
Power Rarger
Excellent customer service. The food was amazing. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because they didn't have baby back ribs at 7pm.
Keith O'Conor
Martin's has absolutely amazing barbecue and customer service. I tried the redneck taco and wasn't disappointed. The pork was tender and the Jack's Creek sauce was delicious. This is a most visit place
John Steinmetz
Awesome! That describes this restaurant in one word. The food is great & the service is fast.
B C
My brother and I came from out of town and we really wanted to try good southern bbq so we went to Martins! We were definitely not dissappointed. There was a slight miscommunication about there being no ribs and the GM came out talked to us and fixed it right away. Food was superb, service was above our expectations, and it was a clean place to sit and eat with family. Thanks! We will return for sure.
Jacob Deliefde
Brisket was insanely good, the jack’s creek sauce is like crack. Even the chicken fingers for the kids were from scratch and sooo good (snuck a bite). When in Nashville go- just go.
William Bergo
Visit Nashville once a year and this is always a required stop. Hands down best food, best service, and best atmosphere.
Great selection of food. Hard to go wrong with the ribs, pulled pork, or brisket.
GT Stepp
Stopped at Martin's on a food tour. Sampled the menu, excellent taste yet his own style. Love it. We'll be back.
LaTonya Newberry
Great dining experience, service was impeccable, and the food was superb! Best BBQ spot hands down. Love the location.....
Barry Jover
Great food, beer, and atmosphere. I love how the place looks with all the decor and stickers. You have to try the brisket because it's amazing!
Rafael Rojo
This has been by far some of the best BBQ I've had. The dry rub wings and brisket were my favorite. I highly recommend this place if you find yourself in Nashville!
Zane Asselin
Cool ambiance and good food..their baked beans have jalapeños in them and they taste delicious..not super spicy, but adds something unique.
Michel Francisco
I love this place the food is great and the stuff is very friendly definitely recommend
Angie Wood
Everything was great! BBQ was good! The Mac and Cheese is a must!!!!
Chris Vance
If you are ever in the area, don't skip out on this one. Always get the brisket burger. One of the best burgers I've ever had. I'm not usually a fan of brisket, but Martin's brisket has an elite flavor.
William Lankford
The BBQ here is to die for. Authentic Nashville scenerie and an incredible atmosphere. Diverse menu and everything was delicious. Highly recommend if you visit Nashville.
Randall Bazell
Stopped in here for dinner on the drive back home to Ohio, and we weren't disappointed. Service was quick and friendly, and the food was pretty good. I wasn't the biggest fan of some of their BBQ sauces, but the meat was good enough that it didn't really matter. I had the brisket sandwich with baked beans, and I'd definitely stop in for it again if I'm in the area. We tried the downtown location first, and it was packed, so we came here instead and had no problem getting a seat. The prices were a little high, but that seems to be the norm any more if you want to eat somewhere decent.
Della H
Amazing bbq & great atmosphere. When we visit again we will definitely be coming here to eat again.
jenna doll
Amazing brisket! A local told us about this place. So we decided to give it a try. Well worth the trip. I'm glad I got to try it before we had to head back home
David Davis
The smoked wings, pulled pork and slaw were very good. Hit the meat with the house Palmetto Gold sauce. Really cool atmosphere and ice cold beer. Trendy neighborhood and a ton to explore.
Elliot Kelley
Of all the big bbq spots in Nashville and the middle TN area, Martin's is on average my favorite choice. I have eaten at most of them, but have frequented the Belmont Blvd the most. Almost everything Martins has is off the chain and fresh. Its more pricey than some other spots, and the portions in my opinion are not ideal. Otherwise, it is a 5 star spot.
Nick Harris
I can’t believe I have lived here for six years and am only now trying the burger at martin’s! The bbq is incredible but this is the best burger I have ever had
TheMoySauce
Great bbq place to try while you are in Nashville. The wings are a must as well as the pulled pork.
Jacob Stiller
amazing Tennessee bbq with awesome bbq sauce options
Bill Davidson
Awesome BBq. We had the full rack of ribs with beans and Mac and cheese. Ribs were cooked perfectly and had great flavor. My wife said the beans were the best she has had. Free mini moon pies for dessert. Prices were reasonable. $30 for the rack which easily fed 3 of us.
Rob Hurd
Great food & super friendly service! One of our favorite spots in Nashville!!
K K
Got the brisket and chips! So good! It was better than the downtown location.
Jonathan P. Burks
Great food and great customer service. It is always an enjoyable experience here.
Kyle Lane
It was pretty busy but very efficient and friendly. I pulled up a seat at the bar and was served my drink within seconds and my amazing ribs only took a few minutes to be served. Friendly staff and locals so I'll definitely stop back next time I'm in town.
John S
Was in the area for one night and decided to try it out. No shirts in L or XL whatever. I ordered my food took a number and sat down. They were busy and I was hungry, felt like forever but I'm sure it wasn't that bad. Food was brought out in a to go bag to me, I stared in confusion and she said I'll be right back. I laughed and said thanks, everything was cold. I think it could have been amazing but 25 bucks for a cold sliced brisket w beans and fries meal was a little disappointing.
Jennifer Blades
Great atmosphere and amazing BBQ. The Playlist was perfect. Can't go wrong with pbr and free moon pies
SUNG KWON YANG (양성권)
I love this place.
Delicious bbq and light sauce.
Jarrod Gream
This particular location is absolutely amazing. The other ones are decent but as far as I'm concerned this is the real Martin's. The food is always hot and fresh. Even on days in the line to order is outside they're able to quickly process everyone and get your food to you. The parking situation could be a little better but come on this is Nashville, parking could be better everywhere. Fair prices for the amount of food that you get. I highly recommend eating here.
Robert Williams
Pleasant service combined with high quality bbq food. They know their bbq!
brandie finkley
Servers are extremely nice. Service is fast and food is good . I haven’t had a good hoecake since my grandma past away.
Crystal Riedel
Best BBQ I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!!! MAY BE BEST MEAL!!!! SO DELISH!
Amanda Tolles
Amazing food. Amazing staff. Fun atmosphere. You can always tell a good place when there's no place to park!
Anne Biggers
Was looking for some authentic bar-b-que during a trip to Nashville. Was not disappointed by delicious Martin's offerings.
Mike Wright
This place is amazing, I have been to a lot of bbq places and one of my favorite things to try is the brisket, I have been disappointed most of the time but the brisket here was the best I have ever had. The staff was also very nice and helpful. If you are in Nashville Tn this place should definitely be on your list of eateries.
Easy Anderson
I remember when this place used to be good. . This is $16.19. Of lukewarm BBQ brisket that's was tough and coleslaw. That is just mehhh. Arby's is better. Kind of sad.
Tian Emery
Chicken Wing had feathers still on it!
Lindsay Polk
Great BBQ place! Very friendly staff, the pie is off the charts good!
Shane
Definitely lives up to the hype. We got brisket, chicken, corn bread, potato salad, beans and everything else we could shove in our faces and there were just two of us 😂. Get there early or you’re going to be waiting in line. That was the only thing I wish would’ve been different. It was Labor Day weekend and they have two registers and only one being used. Could have sped up the wait times, but what do I know 🤷🏼♂️. The food really is great.
-
Really good whole hog BBQ. The pork is so much different than if you just cooked a shoulder or belly alone. It's so much lighter and juicier, doesn't even need sauce. Don't sleep on the smoked turkey though which was moist and served what seemed like by the pound
Andy Cigars
Awesome place to stop for lunch! If you're heading through Nashville, do yourself a favor and go here. Awesome eats and a great selection of craft beers to go with your meal!!
raymond long
Dry rubbed wings really good. Fries were mostly good, but some were too oily. Brisket was good. Hush puppies were ok. Good beer selection.
Kenneth Newsome (Kenny)
We went based on proximity and good reviews. We were not disappointed. Staff was friendly and courteous. We shared the small rib (4 ribs) platter with 2 sides. We got extra sides and they were delicious. Mac and cheese, hush puppies, broccoli salad, potato salad. Great time!
Kamran Ayub
I already rated the downtown location 5 stars due to the BBQ and food, this location was the same. I just wanted to leave a review for this location specifically because of the level of service. We pulled up to pick up our order, the gentleman came out and asked if had an order and we said yeah but it's not curbside and he said no problem, went and got it. First gold star. Second, I forgot to get iced tea for my wife and so I went in to the to-go counter and asked for an iced tea to-go. I didn't even mention I forgot it on my pickup order, I went in intending to pay for it. I got my wallet out and asked how much and the woman said, "Don't worry about it!" so that was the second thing that happened. After that, my friend said I better leave a good review so there ya go. Come for the food and the service 💕
Tay M
Best barbecue ever. Loved it, little pricey but so worth it. Fast service.
James Gary
Great bbq first time visiting would recommend to anyone. Service was excellent food was delicious
José Carlos G.
Went there in 2019. I wanted to try local food and a friend of mine took me there. I really enjoyed my visit, I felt the Nashville style in the decor, eventhough it was crowded at lunch time the service was fast. The brisket burger was a first for me, really tasty. Can't say portions are big, rather average, but I definitely would go back!
Jumaane Henry
Great customer service. Catfish was meh. Good hush puppies, great smoked wings, brisket tender just a tad dry. Skimpy on the sauce. Good potato salad and baked beans (liked the pieces of brisket added to the beans). Overall a nice experience, somewhere worth a repeat visit for sure.
Stephanie Chafen
Placed a Togo order, but loved the atmosphere in the dining area.
Veronica Lane
The BBQ was pretty good, unfortunately our brisket and mac and cheese were both cold. The baked beans were fantastic and the pulled pork was pretty good. The service was ok.
CJ Wallace
The food was pretty good, but my wife and I were not fans of the bbq sauce available on the table. If other options were available, my wife and I were unaware.
Brian George
This was billed as one of, if not the best BBQ place in Nashville. The food was delicious the beer selection was amazing. Some of the best staff we encountered in Nashville. If Dakota is working the bar you are in good hands. The atmosphere is really cool. There is a line to get in for a reason!
Brandon Shelley
One word: B U S S I N 🔥 😤
I had the Half Chicken (all white meat) and the Alabama white sauce that comes on it is great. Green beans were done properly and the Broccoli salad was great. You can ask for a sampler of sauces and they’re all good in their own regard.
All in all, visit Martins. It was a great experience from beginning to end.
John Klingler
Was told by our Uber driver that this was his favorite BBQ place. Hadn't planned on eating there due to time constraints, but a food tour we took stopped here. It was FANTASTIC BBQ (Especially the brisket)!!! Some of the best I've had, and that's saying a lot because I eat a lot of BBQ, mostly in Texas (and I'm prejudiced in favor of Texas BBQ).
Ivan Morrin
The smell alone was amazing! Great service for my to go order, would go back again!
Christina Hernandez
Visiting Nashville from Los Angeles, California. Martin's Bar-B-Que was recommended by a local. I had the Redneck Taco with brisket, topped with coleslaw. DELICIOUS! Brisket was so flavorful, I highly recommend it. If your a fan of Mac n Cheese it's a definite must. Staff was very friendly and really enjoyed the atmosphere inside. A definite must!
Miles M.
What's not to like!? Amazing food especially wings, plenty of seating, outside area and fun for the whole family!
CeCe C.
Very busy, but not a long wait on getting your food! Loved the beef brisket, baked beans and slaw!
Kyle G
I would have to say the best BBQ I have had in years. Very friendly staff. Great atmosphere
Cathy Blanch
Amazing brisket.
I thought the price was high as all I got was 1/2# brisket with no sides and it was $15. But oh man was it good. I’ve had dry brisket other places that disappointed but this was also flavourful and moist. Just wish they offered healthier sides.
Stacie Guzman
The customer service is incredible, second to none... But the food is even more amazing! The dry rub ribs were my favorite, the beans and hush puppies were so goooooood:)
Scott Mundy
One of the best barbecue I have ever had. Had the wings and they were real smokey, just right. The brisket burger juicy and flavorful. Good selection of beers.
Jake Blass
SERVICE
The service was excellent. The food was brought out very fast.
FOOD
I had the brisket and my wife had the pulled pork. The meat was excellent and the BBQ sauce was one of the best I've ever tasted. For sides, I got mac n cheese and the green beans. The green beans were honestly some of the best I've ever had in my life. There were small chunks of meat in there and onions as well. I don't like onions, but I was able to pick around and the taste was amazing. The mac n cheese, however, was very ok. It came out a little warm, not hot - no big deal to me. Didn't bother me, but I know this upsets some people. Flavor-wise, there was much to be desired with the mac n cheese. It tasted rather bland honestly. Compared to the brisket and green beans, it seemed like an after thought and like it got no love.
My wife got baked beans and mac n cheese. The baked beans were very good as well. Both meals also came with two slices of bread.
OVERALL
The food was pretty good and fast. Prices were a little high in my opinion, but I would return.
Diona Gardner
Food was excellent! My family and I tried the ribs, brisket, wings, catfish along with several sides. There was tons of flavor in each dish. The atmosphere is very light and fun. You walk in to order and seat yourself. Staff comes around to check on you. First time visiting, will return.
John Weiss
Delicious BBQ and sides. Friendly people and good location.
Luis Carrion
Excellent service, decent prices, clean and good meat/sides. The only mediocrity, in my opinion is the sauce that comes with the pork shoulder. Everything else is pretty spot on.
Justin Schondelmyer
Having spent several years of my life in North Carolina I'm kind of partial to NC style BBQ but I absolutely loved this style of BBQ. In fact I'm coming today for lunch. Loved everything about the place from the way it looks, the smell of smoke, to the taste of the BBQ.
mark graham
The food was great at a decent price. We ordered one of the sampler plates and 4 sides and everything was delicious. Pulled pork was really nice, the brisket was as juicy and tender as I've ever had. The rib was cooked beautifully and all the sides were amazing. I would definitely recommend this place.
Shadowsongs
Pretty decent food! The staff is friendly and they are Faaassstttt!
Peter Wardenaar
Great, typical American bbq and burger joint. The burger I had was excellent (buffalo brisket) as were the fries. The service was fast and friendly and the food was served hot. They also have a great selection of locally brewed beers. Both the burgers and the ribs as well as the dryrub chicken wings tasted superb. Definitely worth trying out!
Tim M
Great food and great atmosphere! We tried the ribs, the chicken, and the brisket. All were delicious and perfectly flavored. I highly recommend the cornbread hoecake as a side.
The only potential downside, which does not merit removing a star, is that our clothes smelled like the smokey BBQ until they were washed.
Rebecca Chambers
Took my parents here from out of state and I do not regret it whatsoever. They loved the food and said it was the best brisket and ribs they have had in quite some time! Would recommend to anyone who wants delicious BBQ, even through this Covid-19 pandemic. The staff was very engaged in making sure tables were cleaned throughout our visit.
Pam Cange
We liked the decor, and the staff was very friendly. I ordered baby back ribs and my husband ordered half a chicken, we thought both were very dry. As we were leaving I talked to the manager which was very nice and apologized and offered a gift card, but we declined since we were traveling. I wish we would have picked the brisket people seem to like.
Alberto Silva
Best BBQ experience you can have in a Road trip. Food is awesome and the location is perfect.
Greg Wright (SnapJag)
Excellent food. Great service. Smells and tastes great.
John Faust
Great friendly staff, food was "good" but did not blow me away. Found the pulled pork, chicken and the spareribs some what dry. The chicken was mushy. All of there meats were extremely tender including the brisket. I prefer a little tug especially on the brisket and ribs. Had good smoke flavor. They also do not trim their ribs St. Louis style so although you get more meat, I found them very hard to manage sharing and breaking apart. This is a CRITICAL review from a guy who has eaten BBQ from all over the country. This food would be extremely good for most. They are definitely worth trying!
jennifer woodard
I would say it was pretty close to prefect! The ribs and pulled pork were awesome! Moist & full of real BBQ, subtle flavor. The beef brisket was tender melt in your mouth. The chicken was again moist, tender and very satisfying! The fries were fresh cut. Hush puppies flavorful and not greasy at all. The staff were pleasant, eager to help, & hardworking. My entire family agrees and we will be going again no question!
Connie Calaway
The food was great, probably one of the best BBQ places around!! Fun, relaxing environment!!
Austin Hossfeld
A nice BBQ place with a nice, smokey atmosphere and helpful employees. There are a few BBQ places in Nashville, but after being recommended this place from a few people, including from the Food Network, we went to try it out. Pricing is reasonable for decent BBQ and each item we got was great. Special shout out to the mac and cheese.
Steven Bias
The food and staff were amazing! The BBQ was great, and it was what I expected when I heard about the restaurant on the Food network. The hand cut fries were hot and crispy, and the macaroni and cheese was very tasty as well. I had ribs and brisket, and the meat had just the right amount of smoke and was very tender (meat falling off the bone tender). Will be going back!
Angel L.
Smoked wings with the dry rub were great! Wish their online ordering menu gave a description of their sauces because I ended up ordering dry wings with dry rub to "dip". Shame on me.
Pebble36
The BBQ is delicious. Ordered the half slab with half dry rub and half sauce. The meat just fell off the bone. Mouth watering good. 🥲🥲. The baked beans and brunswick stew was also good. I definitely will be back. 😊😁 …
Eric Rouille
This place lived up to the hype. We got a sampler and it was awesome! They give you knives, but you can cut everything with a fork. We got ribs wet, which was St Louis Style. The vinegar based sauce on the table is probably the best I’ve ever had. The prices are very reasonable. Anyone in Nashville looking for great BBQ needs to be here!
Katie-Jane Brown
Good but not awesome in my opinion. Husband had lil bro combo. Brisket and chicken were very tender but flavor was lacking. I had the brisket burger which was very tasty. Hush puppy was dry, broccoli salad was very good, Mac and cheese had good flavor but noodles were really mushy.
Lance Davidson
Great food all around. Ribs, pork brisket are all top notch. My personal favorites are the burger and wings. Smokey wings with the Memphis Dry Rub are a must. The burgers are perfectly done smash style. Great house sauce too. Atmosphere is enjoyable. Counter service is friendly and efficient.
Doug Lauver
Amazing food and fantastic atmosphere. The ribs are some of the best I've had. The brisket was decent but not my favorite. 10/10 would recommend if you like ribs.
Jeffery White
Fairly good stuff from a landmark joint. My ribs were nice and juicy. Brisket was on the dry side. Hush puppies were meh. Everybody has off days, I am hoping that is all this was.
Kevin Broomell
We popped here for a quick bite and definitely liked this place. The staff is incredibly friendly and the bartenders were on point. We ordered one of the entrees for 3 and it had brisket, pulled pork and ribs. The ribs were awful - overcooked and just bad - based on other food, assuming this was just a bad cut. The brisket was incredible and super juicy. The pulled pork was pretty good. The beans were the best thing here - just so good.
Beetle Builder
My sweetheart and I were told about how great Martin's was so we decided to give them a try. The service was good and friendly. My fiancee especially liked the atmosphere. She got a pulled pork sandwich which she said was very good. I got a bacon cheeseburger which very juicy and delicious. Our main complaint was with the serving sizes. We both were disappointed to leave the restaurant still hungry. They need to increase the portion size (but keep the prices the same) and then they would deserve five stars.
Hiren Patel
I love BBQ places that spend the effort to make great sides since it shows they care - coleslaw was one of the best I’ve had, baked beans were delicious, potato salad was spot on, etc...we had a big group so had 6-7 sides and all of them were delicious. But of course you’re there for the meat and Martin’s didn’t disappoint. Ribs (spare and baby back) were solid, chicken was excellent, brisket was great, pulled pork was very good. Good variety of sauces. Very friendly staff.
Blake
There's a reason this place has 4.5+ stars with over 1400 reviews. In my opinion, it's the best BBQ in Nashville. Plenty of sauces to try, and the brisket is great. Coming from Texas there was definitely a certain expectation level but this placed met them for sure. Beer selection is great too. Fun place to watch a game, have lunch or dinner and relax. I've had their catering at private events and the quality is the same as in the restaurant. Take out is easy for big and small parties as well. Parking is a bit limited, but you can most always find a spot on Belmont. Highly recommend.
BRANDIE HILL
I have had better, Mac and cheese taste like boxed. Nice atmosphere
Trish Meyer
Good smokiness and beans were good. Honestly, the ribs were super tough and the brisket was super fatty. Tasted good but we were disappointed.
No one spoke to us either to ask us how it was.
Other locations are much better. I hate that it wasn’t up to their normal standards.
Arsha Shaji
Good bbq place with wonderful ambience and tasty ribs.
Olivia Tolk
Quick & easy to order online & pick up. DELICIOUS food. Seriously you cannot go wrong with any of their sides, meats, or sauces. They hit it out of the park every time.
Sam Hagler
Had the 1/4 chicken (white meat) that was smoked really well. The Brunswick stew came out cold, but was remedied quickly with a new hot cup. Great-tasting sweet tea, all you can drink. Good bbq place, just make sure you're visiting the Martin's bbq near Belmont University because while they were busy, they're not swamped like downtown Nashville.
Also had the pulled pork sandwich which was on point and the turkey sandwich is piled high along with a side of mac-and-cheese. Good stuff. Would definitely recommend when in the Lipscomb University and Belmont University area.
Jackie Helton
THE BEST BBQ in Nashville! Hands down. Dry rub ribs delicious. Pork yum. Baked beans- yes. Did I mention the ribs? We could smell the difference in the BBQ as soon as we were in the parking lot!
Christian Beeler
Same thing every time basically.....excellence in BBQ dining. That's basically it, all the food is tasty especially the brisket and ribs. The sides are all FIRE. The catering was easy to deal with as well. Very well ran business.
Bret Henderson
Food was good. Not the best BBQ I've ever had. The sauce I had lacked flavor. The atmosphere was really cool. The employees were extremely nice and helpful.
Elijah Adams
Martins is probably the best BBQ in Nashville. Friendly service, good beer selection, large portions, and good variety.
Steve Hale
Our first time here, the food was good. I eat at a lot of restaurants in and around Nashville and middle Tennessee. What I noticed about this place is not necessarily a bad thing but when they bring your food to you they holler out your name. Why not use numbers like one of their competitor's does. I did not particularly like the vinegar barbecue sauce to put on my barbecue. I noticed that the menu offers other barbecue sauces to use but none were on the tables. I could have asked but I didn't. Getting refills on my drink seem to be awkward, it was not easy like it is at other places where you can either refill them yourself or there's someone there to refill for you. I know these are little things but, to me if you want to be a five, they should be addressed. The potato salad and pecan pie was fantastic. We did not like the pulled pork. Sorry. Brisket great, ribs a bit over cooked (we where there about an hour before closing).
Martin Grimwood
What can I say! Martin's is the go-to for the best ribs and brisket in Nashville.
The staff are great and the food is absolutely beautiful. Great BBQ and a great place to have lunch or dinner or both!
Pick yourself up a t shirt or hat as well and support the local community.
I'll be back next time I'm in the south.
Kayla Busick
Best barbecue in the Nashville area! I highly recommend the whole hog plate. They will give you a little cup of their sauce so you can quickly find your favorite. Be prepared to wait because it's always packed, but they are very fast at getting your food out and it is ALWAYS worth the wait.
You order at the counter (walk in and go left) and they bring your food out and bus your table after, so please be considerate of that when adding a tip to your ticket.
Cayce Borden
Legit all the way. Have had their brisket, pork, Turkey, sausage, and most sides and are always super good. Today I had the wings for the first time and I think I have to go see a doctor because my mouth is broken. They were so good! Our waitress was very nice and super attentive. Be careful if you go here, you may not eat any other BBQ after this.
Tanner Perkins
Great ribs. Dry rub was perfect. To-go order was done ahead of time. Food was hot.
Rodney Rucker
Was looking for good BBQ and was not disappointed. Very affordable family dining. Had half rack of ribs dry and pulled pork sandwich with our order. The sauces were very good as well. Tried the devils nectar sauce and yea it was HOT! Sweet Dixie was our favorite tho. Nice staff and atmosphere as well. Would recommend and go back as well.
Randy Trevino
My first time here to Nashville. Visiting family. We walked off the plane walked to the car rental place and I asked the agent, "Where is your favorite BBQ place". She told us Martins. So we went. I order the kid brother combo with spare ribs, brisket, mac and cheese and potato salad..........OMG....THE BRISKET WAS THE BEST IVE EVER TASTED! SO TENDER MOIST AND THE FLAVOR........DAM JUST ABSOLUTELY THE BEST. The spare ribs were delicious as well. I dont want to make this to long but everything we ate exceeded our expectations!
Kelvin Jones
Wanted to try a sampler, but it would have been too much food for me. Ended up with a Brisket sandwich and Broccoli salad. The sandwich was very good, the meat was tender. I used Sweet Dixie sauce, it's vinegar based, sweet and balanced. I also added some Devil's Nectar, this is a good sauce but extremely hot. It starts off sweet and finishes extremely hot, probably ghost peppers. The Broccoli salad is mayo based, but it's really good. Has a mixture of Broccoli, cheese, nuts?, bacon? and other seasonings. You may have to ask what's in it to be sure. The atmosphere is really laid back. Seems like a cool place to get cocktails and beer.
Jim Olson
Amazing food. Everthing I've tried has been delicious. The pulled pork is so flavourful and juicy that it doesn't need sauce, however they have a selection of tasty (though really thin) sauces available. For their sides the hush puppies, potato salad, and baked beans are all recommended. Warning: you will smell like smoke when you leave.
Jameka Echols
It was cool. The brisket platter was decent. I just wished I could have enjoyed it without the BBQ sauce bc it was a bit dry on some parts. The baked beans were the star of the plate for me. They were flavorful and added small crunch from the bell pepper with I happen to have loved. The potato salad was not to my standards. But I'm really picky about that to begin with so try for yourself.
Scott Mayberry
Loved the whole hog tray. Really does taste better than most other BBQ. The smell of cooking the pig on the other side of the room helps I'm sure!
Chris Marshall
This place was awesome! Great atmosphere and great food! Would definitely go back.
James WFreedom
The food is amazing! The atmosphere is fun, but their swag is way over priced. $8 for a shot glass??? I would have bought some of their merchandise if it was just priced lower and they went for volume, not higher profits.
Jo Anne Tingle
Absolutely delicious BBQ!!! VERY attentive staff. Let us try each sauce, since we were going to buy one.
Love the Alabama White Sauce the Best! We got the Family supper, for 2 hungry men, Cheeseburger and fries for middle middle man, and Dark meat chicken and broccoli salad for the KETO mom! Everyone was stuffed for $53.
Drew Paik
The best BBQ I've had in many, many years! My first visit, but it will not be the last.
I'll just start with the food, because it was amazing. The wings (dry rub with sauce on the side) was a surprising hit. Didn't expect it to be that tasty or moist. And the baby back ribs were also the best I've had. But the star for me was the chicken, which was moist and flavorful. I didn't even mind that the brisket (usually my favorite meat) was dry and tough. The rest of the meal made up for it and then some.
Clean, modern decor with helpful service.
Mr. Jim
Out of smoked turkey and chicken .. really wanted that but the pork was good.
glenn genovas
Had the pulled pork sandwich & the meatier spare ribs. Pork was delicious however their was more bun than pork. Wasn't expecting such a small sandwich. The ribs had a great flavor, loved the rub however I was hoping to have more meat on the ribs. Giving it 3 stars because the flavor if the food was really good but was expecting bigger portions. Guess if you want to have BBQ with country size portions head to Texas.
Arturo Almaguer
The spare ribs very so good that I would recommend it to everyone here. Definitely the best in Nashville
Ryan Burke
The beef brisket was delicious. However, I do base reviews off of guest experience as well. Unfortunately, since no one was wearing a name tag I was unable to get any of the team members names, but the girl that took our order was not pleasant at all. As first time guests, you would like to be guided by the team that works there to enjoy your visit as much as possible. When we asked the girl at the register what the Alabama White sauce had in it she said "Look on the back of the menu, the flavors of the sauces are on the back of the menu." Now this may not seem like a big deal, but it's not necessarily what you say it's how you say it. Her response was more like "Duh, you should know this already." The lady that brought our food out, again, was not pleasant. She never gave us the time of day and looked like she just couldn't wait until her shift was over. I know this review may not make a huge impact, but I would recommend hiring better staff. Your team members are representing the company and unfortunately they represented the company poorly.
Cossio
The chicken sandwich had 2 small chicken strips on it. Definitely wasn't worth the money .
J F
Delicious delicious delicious. The ribs are superb and they have RC Cola in glass bottles. The desserts are also great. For newbies, snag a table, read up the line up to order and wait at your 'til your number is yelled. Celebrities are known to eat here, so be prepared to spot them but please don't interrupt their lunch. Let's keep it classy.
John Kurton
Excellent bbq riba and brisket
Nicholas Morris
I'm sure there's better bbq in Texas so I hear, but as for Nashville, Martins is one of my favorites. Visited here recently. Order at the counter, grab a seat and enjoy some pit smoked bbq.
Phil Spencer
Generally good food, and excellent service. I can't recommend the ribs because mine were very tough from being overcooked, although the flavor was good. Sides were all very tasty with generous portion sizes.
Chi Ab Vang
Hands down best staff of all the Martin's location. Food was fantastic. We even got to see the bbq process.
Salty Kitten
Cool place looking place. The ribs were very disappointing. Brisket not much better. Dryed out and all bark. We ordered the Big Daddy platter. Chicken was the best thing on the platter. Pricey for what we had. Service was good.
Eric Miller
On Labor Day (9/7/21) I had a few hours to kill before heading to Nashville Airport, so I decided to go to 3 well-known Nashville BBQ restaurants and buy a brisket sandwich from each one: Edley's, Jack Cawthorn's, and Martin's. Each were within about 10 minutes of each other. A 4th I'd wanted to try, but which was closed, was Peg Leg Porker. Of the 3, this is of course a small sample size of the menu, and obviously just my opinion, but would grade the sandwiches this way: Martin's A+, Jack's A-, and Edley's B. Martin's was absolutely fantastic, perfectly cooked brisket. Jack's was excellent also, and, was much better priced than Martin's for the same size sandwich ($7.99 vs $10.99). Edley's was really good too, but, they served less meat than Martin's and Jack's, it was a noticeable difference. Also, the ambience at the Martin's I went to (on Belmont Blvd) was terrific, my favorite of the 3.
David Thiele
Met some family at Martin's and were treated with one of Nashville's best BBQ joints. I've had some of the best that Texas has to offer and thoroughly enjoyed the brisket, pulled pork, green beans and macaroni & cheese. The green beans were some of the best I've ever had. I was tempted to drink the remaining juice! Great food, great environment. I heard great legends of the whole roasted pig on display but there wasn't one out when we were there.
Mary Pennington
The whole hog sandwich was delicious, and the coleslaw was fresh and flavorful. We shared fried fish as an appetizer that was great. The woman working the register was friendly, and our food came out quick and was piping hot. I tried the baked beans on her recommendation, and definitely enjoyed them.
Savannah Hallmark
I can’t say enough great things about Martin’s. This is an iconic cornerstone restaurant in Nashville, TN. The owner truly cares about his employees and communities he serves. Every time I have visited here (MANY times) I have had an incredible culinary experience. The service is undoubtedly the best it gets. Each employee exudes respect and positivity which truly makes the experience of dining at Martin’s even better. I would give 100 stars if I could. SUPPORT LOCAL
Jamie Patterson
Incredible tasting food. If you like bbq, just go. You will not be disappointed. Packed for lunch but it doesn't take long to get your food. We had a large sampler, all of the meat was fantastic, very flavourful. The beans are probably the best I have ever ate in my life. Found it on google and it was a really great experience, so paying it forward.
Colin B
You'll hear from everyone that it's the best BBQ in town, and while it is pretty good BBQ, it is very much for the tourist. The meat is bland and the sauce selection at tables were poor. Side were pretty basic as well. Servers were kind and efficient. Just explore, this city has lots of great 'mom & pop' BBQ.
Raven Childers
Hopping lil place with great dry rub ribs and awesome brisket
Mark Eccher
A rack of ribs is a rack of ribs at Martin's. Big meaty and great taste. Best I have had and thats out of 14 others in 11 states
pLj
First time here and wow the best hospitality we've encountered in along time and were from Texas. The ladies that worked the front were so helpful. The hamburgers were delicious. We will diffently be back. A must try place!
Tom Wood
Simply put, this is barbeque done right. Fantastic flavors, generous portions, great menu, and cool venue. Drink selection is extensive, including an impressive liquor menu. Best barbecue in the area by a long shot.
Sean Busick
I love good barbecue. Martin's serves some of the best barbecue you'll ever put in your mouth. I ordered the whole hog pulled pork plate. The barbecue was incredibly tender with a nice hickory smoked flavor, and featured a good mix of inside and outside meat. They have several different sauces. I went with their standard sauce, a vinegar and tomato sauce that was just the right mix of sweet and tangy, it reminded me a little of sauces from western North Carolina.
Jenny Escamilla Howell
The nachos were to die for!! Yummm! Friendly staff and clean atmosphere.
Chris krinner
Hands down the greatest brisket I have ever had. I've been chasing authentic BBQ trying to find the best out there for the past couple years. I have never experienced such great brisket. Literally melt in your mouth. Also, the brisket burger is on my top 5 list of the greatest food items I have ever tasted. Highly recommend stopping here if you're in the Nashville area.
Bob Richo
Sorry no photo, too busy eating. This location is as good as the others. High quality BBQ, your going to be happy. It is a joint for sure, but a nice joint. Think of 5 Guys with better stuff. Order and sit, someone’s bringing your order. Use their sauce liberally, it’s the best. Just thinking about makes me miss Nashville!
Ryan Mullen
We ate lunch here Thursday and Friday. We all had the pulled pork Thursday and had to go back and try the brisket. I don't believe the brisket is worth the extra money. It's good don't get me wrong but for the money I would be just as happy with the pulled pork. There sides are 🔥 especially the Mac and cheese. …
James Bonin
Get there early as when I was there this Saturday there was a massive queue. Very good barbecue and reasonably priced. I couldn’t work out however if the good ole boy decor was tongue-in-cheek or serious. I think the latter as it was in a pretty well to do neighborhood. A bit like those plastic paddy pubs you see all over the world. Still very good barbecue,
Erin Tapken
First timers, we felt a little intimidated at first but quickly figured it all out, and never felt hurried or pressured by the employees. When asked if we wanted a special BBQ sauce, we said we didn't know so the server offered to bring us a flight of sauces. We loved trying them all. Great portion sizes, delicious sides (beans, broccoli salad, hush puppies, Mac & cheese). Don't he shy if you want a drink refill, just take your glass up and ask!
Lisa Wilbur
I work right across the road from midtown Martin’s- so it’s convenient for lunch- I ordered the baked potato with barbecue today and hardly had any meat on it- I’m already hungry way before dinner- not cheap either :/
Ginger Casbon
Some of the best bbq I’ve had!! Will be back my next time in Nashville!
J D
One of the best bbq places I've eaten. Ribs were super fall off the bone tender and the sauces were phenomenal
Walker Lawrence
This place was a wonderful treat to enjoy some BBQ in Nashville during our brief 2 day stay in the city. The brisket was the standout here. It was smoked well, but had enough fat to ensure the meat was still moist and had the right texture. The sauces were not the star. The sides that came with the meat could also be improved upon. My wife's mac and cheese came cold, and the fritters were over-fried. All in all, what matters was what was best and that's the meat.
Indrayani Waghmare
The food was good, I really liked the dry rub on my ribs. The place looks good..very country. But I was ticked off a little because they got me 12 rib plate instead of 4 and when I corrected that, before the order was out, the person at the register looked agitated. And suddenly all the cordiality disappeared. I asked for no bacon on my baked potato, and they messed that one too. The person who processed the refund was ok though..i would recommend the place for food, the service may be hit or miss.
Shannon Scott
Martin’s BBQ catered our office event for 125 people.
It was absolutely fabulous! We had the whole hog on the smoker in the parking lot. The food was so good and the servers were exceptionally friendly and accommodating! We will definitely use them again!!
Eddy Oneil
Amazing! I don't have any idea what they put in their sauce, but it's worth the wait. We drove almost 45 minutes out of the way to try this local joint. The detour was well worth it. Their whole hog sandwich was out of this world. Add in the sides and that SAUCE for a killer combo. I wish would have bought more sauce while I was there as I have consumed all of it.
Jordan Hicks
This place never disappoints! Love the pulled pork, ribs and turkey. The brisket was a tad on the dry side this visit, but there are some incredible sauces to make up for it! The broccoli salad is always a must. Will continue to frequently visit for great BBQ, delicious sides, and friendly staff.
Dani H
We loved the BBQ here. We got the Sampler. The ribs were phenomenal. The staff is very helpful and friendly. We highly recommend.
Kaylee Johnson
I've been here multiple times and the place is always busy (in a good way) but there's plenty of seating or you can take it to go. Despite this, the food comes out quickly and is delicious! Martin's is my favorite BBQ in Nashville. They have various sauces to try on your BBQ and the sides are good here.
Samantha Maynard
Hidden gem! Its off the beaten path, ie main drag, so unless you are looking 4 it, u may miss it. But Great food & great service! We were only ones to sit outside. So when we were finished i was taking our stuff inside, as soon as i entered someone was right there to take the stuff from me. I got the brisket tray, the meat was falling apart as i picked it up. Husband got the pork shoulder sandwich. Both were very good! Everyone was friendly. We got there around 5, right before the rush, as we were leaving line was to the door! Whew!
nathan
Ordered a platter, got brisket, pulled pork, and dry rub ribs (reg, not baby back). Sides were a corn bread hoecake, baked beans, and mac and cheese. All the sides were great. The brisket had good smoked flavor and still had some structure (ie wasn't over cooked). The pulled pork was flavored well and gave me a chance to try their sauces, all were good. The dry rub ribs were decent, the dry rub was actually good. best BBQ in the area
Chris Crockett
You don't need a knife for the ribs they're so tender and nicely smoked! I'm about to go in for my third time here and I was told I have to try the wings. everybody is super friendly and makes the whole experience that much better. I brought my 6 year old son last time and he loved watching the pig "sleep" haha. They smoke the whole hog right there at the bar and it smells wonderful. Really great experience all around!
Update, wings were literally the best I've ever had! :-) I definitely recommend the AL white sauce with them! Finger licking great!
Maria Walker
Almost every time we make a trip to Nashville for the zoo or whatever, we go here! Me & my husband have said this is our place now! ;) we only eat here. My daughter loves it too now! I ate here before I even got pregnant with her, so now it's a family thing! The food is so dang delicious!! I love the mustard based BBQ sauce as well!! & the loaded baked potato with a BBQ sandwich!!! *Yummy!!!*
E. J. L
This is the best place for BBQ in Nashville. I have tried the brisket, chicken and turkey, and all are great. The sauce options are really good too. The baked beans are to die for. I am a Texan, so I have high standards and was a bit skeptical when I walked in the door. However, Martin's exceeded my expectations. I always recommend this place to people visiting from out of town.
Steve Nabi
If you visit Nashville, in the Belmont area is This little joint. Some of the best bbq around. Authentic and fresh. Just go. You're welcome!
Michael Bergman
The BBQ was very good. The smoked wings were cooked perfectly. The rack of spare ribs was also very, very good. My only complaint was the unnecessary layer of seasoning they put on the ribs after they were cooked. The ribs were fine without that, so I recommend asking them to leave that off.
They also have a very good selection of local beer on tap.
Jeff Coffey
Best dry, Memphis style ribs, I have ever had, period! This restaurant is fantastic and the folks are super nice. The slaw and hoecake are really good also. I can't wait to go back, soon! 👍👍👍 …
Donnie
Nashville was okay, but visiting Martin's really made the trip something worth talking about. The bbq was the best my girlfriend and I had in Tennessee. The staff was friendly and casual (didn't check up on you so often that it was obnoxious yet never made you feel like they forgot about you). The selection of food and drink was a difficult one as it all looked and smelled amazing. The staff was personable and down to Earth and never made us feel like we were just another customer
steven putnam
Best brisket I've ever had. Melt in your mouth, moist, flavorful. Staff super helpful/friendly. We beat the weekday lunch rush - lines out the door are a good sign! Didn't care for the baked beans (tasted a lot like chili)(maybe it's a "southern" thing seeing as we're from the "north"). Memphis dry rub on the spareribs was also very delicious. Will make it a point to stop here on future road trips for sure.
Alan August Nitikman
Had the Redneck Taco. Excellent! Pulled pork on a hoecake; simple, but tasty and filling. Their ribs tie with Peg Leg Porker for best BBQ in Nashville, IMHO.
Rob Smith
Place is awesome!
You walk inside of the building and are immediately hit with the smoke type smell form smoking meats. You do stand in line for a long time, however you can get a drink form the bar while in line. After you order, have a seat and they will find you by calling your number out.
Ordered the food from the counter and was given the opportunity to be assisted by the people that pour sauces for you. I did get the ribs, which had a nice smokey type taste to them. I was very impressed how they fell off the bone also. We did have a large group and everyone really enjoyed there food they had acquired.
This will be a go to restaurant in the future.
Faith Sanders
So just driving through we decided to try this place. We were so satisfied!! Unfortunately they were out of brisket at 8pm but we ordered the "big momma" combo which was supposed to include some brisket and they offered 3 different substitutions for it and we chose the chicken. The ribs were my absolute favorite! Although the outside was really dry the inside fell right off the bone. Truly amazing. And you guys GET THE PECAN PIE!! You won't be disappointed. Best pie I've ever eaten and my Granddad owned a homemade pie store. Let's just say it's hard for me to say that out loud, but it's true. It is a rustic come as you are experience, but very alive and welcoming. Great music, great beer, great food! They also have military discount. And Though we live in D.C. This is our new favorite BBQ place! Thanks for the great experience!
David M Ross
Everyone knows the BBQ is great, but the collection of beer taps is also top pour.
Jeffrey Alperovich
Really delicious barbecue! Not much more to say
Erin Johnson
The food here is simply amazing. After coming many times for the ribs, brisket and pork, I tried the turkey and chicken which I loved. The Alabama sauce is magical and the staff is so friendly. This place is a star in the over saturated Nashville restaurant scene.
Alexander Tubbs
The ambiance there was very Nice, the food was GOOD. The only critique I have is the seating was a little uncomfortable. If you can, sit in the main building during the cold months... it's warmer there. All in all, the best BBQ I have had in Nashville.... bit I'm a Texas man... 😎 …
Frank Yanez
Had the smoked wings with white sause. They were great. Nice amount of smoke will killer sauce. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Finding a parking spot was hard though.
S Martin
We enjoyed every bite of our meal. Have been searching for delicious nachos for a while and didn't expect to find them at a bbq joint; the cheese flavor was on-point, right amount of meat, a surprise of cilantro and jalapeno (this is def what makes them exceptional), cole slaw and topped with a nachos must-have: sour cream. Try it with the jack's creek sauce! Husband loved the pulled pork sandwich and mac n cheese. Outstanding flavor all around!
Anthony Rodriguez
Came here for lunch with my family on vacation and ordered the Big Poppa Sampler. It did not disappoint.. meat for days and leftovers to boot :) atmosphere is great, employees are enthusiastic and engaging. Definitely gonna have to mark this to revisit in the future.
Christopher Day
Everything was fine
Larry Vindell
Excellent food, great service!!!!! Highly recommend
Ang
Glad we went here our last night in nashville. Great bbq place. Love the set up! Food actually tastes home homemade. Catfish tacos are delicious & wings are great. Mac & cheese is also yummy! Pecan pie was good to go. Good job y'all✌🏼 …
Janine Hernandez
I first want to say thank you to Matthew 😊 he was such a kind and respectful young man, very happy with his service. The food was out of this world ! I’m from Seattle and have traveled to many places but this place has the BEST BBQ I have ever had. If and when I come back to Nashville I will definitely be back. …
Libby Funke Luff
I have used Martin's for catering several times and every time I am impressed with their level of customer service, their prices and their food is always amazing. In my latest trip to Martin's, we hosted a graduation party decked out with ribs, pulled pork and sides. Our guests are still raving about the food, and I couldn't thank RJ and his staff enough for their assistance.
Whether you are looking for a nice night out with some family and friends or you are needing a place to catering your upcoming party, do check our this Martin's location. I am sure they will impress you as well.
Thad Black
Talk about authentic BBQ.
This place is good in every aspect. Ribs, pulled pork, chicken, smoked wings, mac-n-cheese, baked beans, fries..you name it they got it. Large sitting areas so even when it is crowded, you will have a seat. There is a bar if you are just interested in having a local brew and watch a game. Smoker is always cooking away so you know what you get is fresh. I have not found anything here I don't like so take your pick and you won't be disappointed.
Carli Granata
Obsessed with their always fresh, made daily bbq. This place is a must stop every time I go through Nashville. Go with a friend and get both the pulled pork and brisket! That way you don’t have to pick! So many saucy options! Try them all, they’re delicious!
Peggy Askins
We visited here because it was part of our Nashville good and drink tour, and it did not disappoint! The BBQ was excellent! Highly recommend!
Tim Clark
Everything on their menu is great. My wife loves the Brisket Tacos and I love the 1/2 Smoked Chicken (hard to smoke good chicken) and Dry Rub Spare Ribs. Kids love it too. Thanks for being good at what you do!
Daxon Edwards
It's kind unnecessary to review this place. It's been around for years and has never had anyone seriously complain. I've been eating here for years about once a week. And I'm not typically a BBQ fan. Theirs is a little more of a vinegar based sauces. I typically go for tomato paste based sauces like at Famous Dave's but Martin's is so great I don't get tired of it. Pork or chicken, both are great. And the ice for drinks is really soft. The only thing inconsistent is the green beans. Sometimes they are crazy spicy, sometimes not at all. Sometimes heavy with onions, sometimes not. They are great most of the time. Again, I eat here often. But the fries... Holy moly they are awesome. They are on the softer, oily side and sometimes crunchy. Taste is amazing. I get them everyone now. Decided the larger amount of calories worth it. Long lines happen often during lunch on the weekends and dinner everyday. But Google is spot on with their estimates. It can be hot on the sides in the summer and chilly in the writer but not too bad. Typically worth it still. At set times of the day, they open up the hog pit for seasoning. You can sit around it but fun for kids that can stomach that stuff. Awesome place!
Edit 11/27/17:
Still a great place but anything fried isn't as good as it was prior to November. Not sure how it changed but a couple servers I've asked didn't know what I was talking about. All fried items used to be a darker color and much more flavorful but now the items are more average. Still good but not a stand out from typical southern fried foods. I don't order anything fried anymore and avoid sides for BBQ sandwiches and we don't come as often. Still a good place, just no longer in my "amazing" category. BBQ is still as amazing as ever!
K Yearout
I always enjoying good barbecue and let me tell you this place has excellent barbecue. We came in and ordered our food which was a great portion. We also got to witness them seasoning a hog in the pit which really cool. I highly recommend if you are coming into Nashville to stop in here.
Julie Manka
The ribs and brisket were fantastic! The ribs fell off the bone and we're very hearty. The brisket cut with a fork and was very juicy. The different sauces allow you to customize your BBQ; our favorite was the sweet followed by the house sauce. Definitely worth the trip.
Patrick Fineran (Invictys)
Great BBQ, half rack tray is HUGE. Personal choice the dry rub is better than the sauce. Brunswick soup and hushpuppies are awesome
Kelly Ann
Omgosh, the food was awesome; the atmosphere is fun and welcoming. Staff all had a friendly smile on their faces! We definitely will be back!
KaShawna Patton
They have the best smoked wings in Nashville! I don't eat beef or pork, so I can't comment on any of those meats, but I heard the pulled pork is delicious. I get wings every time I'm in town.
James Hembrook
Loved everything about this place! The food was outstanding, I mean mouth watering good! Thanks for the great southern service Becks, Misti, Brittany & Caroline! You definitely made our experience memorable! I can't wait to wear my Martin's BBQ shirt and make my friends jealous!
Adam Moliski
Fantastic food, great atmosphere. The line moves a bit slow, but it's well worth the wait.
Cynthia Law
This was our first trip to Nashville. We wanted good BBQ that was open later than most. Martin's fit the bill. We stood in line for 25 minutes to order, the place was packed. My husband and I split a combo meal. We shared four baby back ribs, a six-ounce serving of smoked brisket and two sides. They have a nice choice of sides. We got hush puppies, green beans and baked beans (we got one extra side). The brisket was tender and juicy, cutting it with a fork. The ribs were fall off the bone perfect. The baked beans were sweety with a hint of spiciness at the finish. The green beans (with white onions and pork) were satisfactory but nothing outstanding. The only truly disappointing item we ordered was the hush puppies. A flavorless ball of batter dropped into the deep frier until it was chestnut brown. Not much corn flower in that batter or seasoning. Disappointing after all of the other great items, but we didn't go to Martin's for the sides. Would love to go back next time we're in town.
chad
So friendly answering questions. The fatty brisket was some of the best I've had. ORDER THE BROCCOLI SALAD SIDE. A really enjoyable experience thank you all for your hard work.
Mike M
While this isn’t the main location it doesn’t comprise quality or experience. The place is welcoming and fun. The bbq is great, the beers are cheap, and the smoked wings are to die for.
I was also introduced to a new concept the cornbread hoecake which is basically a cornbread batter pancake, but saying “basically” doesn’t do it justice. So delicious and a great concept. They also use them as a taco shell in a red neck taco. Mmmmm.

Visited as part of a food tour so we sampled a few items. Gotta say the brisket was.moist, tender, flavorful with nice bark. Ribs and pulled.pork are also very yummy...and sooo many bbq sauces to choose from!
Atmosphere is very casual and.fun..
Be sure to check out the roasting pit...if you've never seen a full pig roasting it's kinda cool!
Matthew Noel
Great BBQ with comfy country seating. Ok, so it's comfortable if you like metal stools, but once you taste those wings you won't care what you are sitting on.
They get busy, they sell out of their (all fresh) items, and they handle it with grace. So go early and enjoy the full menu. Go late and maybe miss out. No matter what you get you will be happy.
Katie Lauver
Stopped here on the Nashville Food Tour and we plan to go back before our trip is over. Ribs fall off the bone, brisket is juicy, and the sauces are spectacular!
Vicky Egulf
First visit...ordered a couple of pork sandwiches, potato salad and sweet tea...this is a self serve and self seat. Right off, we had to walk back up because the tea was not sweetened...I thought the pork was tasty....smoky...sauce was ok...my husband was not thrilled with his...the potato salad was very bland and boring...all I tasted was potatoes and some vinegar...and this is no cheap meal! The place itself is a geat feel...very fun and a great atmosphere...employees were very friendly and helpful...Martins is very well known and we had heard so much about it..this was at the Belmont location...we will give it one more chance
Matthew Schack
We were so happy we visited Martin's! Pork ribs, brisket, hush puppies, and mac n cheese for the win. Make sure you try the hot BBQ sauce if you like spicy food.
Debbie Smith
I'm from California and was recently visiting Nashville. I asked a few locals where I could grab THE BEST barbecue. Hands down, they said Martin's. I was not disappointed!! I ordered the quarter chicken with green beans and cornbread. The chicken literally fell off the bone. It was so incredibly juicy, flavorful and delicious!! I could stop there, but I've gotta say I've never enjoyed green beans as much as these. (Sounds a little over the top, I know) They were just fantastic! The cornbread was different from the cake style I'm accustomed to- it was more like a pancake, flat and cooked on a griddle. A great flavor, hint of onion. If I'm ever in Nashville again, I will most definitely be back!!

This is the best bar-b-que in Nashville. We've tried them all, and they're all legitimately good. But this one's just a bit better. The brisket is ideal, the pulled pork is prime and the smoked sausage is literally the best thing on the menu. Their brisket burger is a hot mess, and totally worth the time it takes to wrangle it into your gaping maw.
Claudia Bounds
Excellent BBQ! Really good side dishes too! Hot BBQ sauce was absolutely delicious, had to buy me some to take home. Laid back atmosphere, quick and friendly service, and clean restrooms.
Eric Satz
Best BBQ in Nashville. There's a lot of good BBQ here, but Martin's is #1. Wings, brisket, chicken, ribs (I prefer wet) all outstanding. For the younger kids, best chicken fingers ever - order the big kids option because as a parent I promise you'll want a couple of bites too.
Jonathan Ferris
Not many vegetarian options. Great meat options and delicious BBQ. The best in Nashville!
Jeff Jennette
The BBQ is very good (try the brisket), and the atmosphere is unique and interesting. The only reason I gave it 4 stars vs 5 is because they smoke their hogs right there in the dining room, and if you happen to be there while they are smoking one, the smell permeates your hair and clothes. We had to leave our coats in the garage for a day after the last time we ate there. Don't let that keep you away. Just go when they aren't smoking a pig, or get your order to go.

This place is absolutely incredible! Very friendly staff, fast service, well designed/decorated and above all delicious food! We ended up going here twice during the three day visit. Do yourself a favor and try this place out!
Mitch Orozco
My family and I really enjoyed going to Martin's today. We loved their choices of sauce and how tender their meat was! Definitely one of the best bbq joints in Nashville!
Zackery Jackson
Food was fantastic. My father, who builds his own BBQ pits, was able to watch the pit master prep a whole hog and get it smoking. We left our leftovers on the table and our server ran it out to us. Totally above and beyond food and service.
Susan Hingle
Went to Nashville for the night and wanted some good BBQ and I found some. In a pretty bougie neighborhood.
James Hill
Decent. It’s nothing to write home about. Serving size on the brisket platter was pretty underwhelming for $20. The side were pretty good though. The value is main reason for the rating.
B. Smith
I've had great food here, but last time, ribs were dry, over cooked. I'd try chicken next time. Green beans are excellent.

It was cute, I went with family. There seemed to be loads of people confused at the door and actually left because there is no sign that says to order at the counter.... It happened a lot! I got the catfish which was ok, but it was very loud, I'd rather go back for a lunch than dinner. I eat seafood but I do not eat any other kind of meat and I had some of their pecan pie, it tasted amazing but I figured out fast it was made with lard and got very sick. I have never had one made with lard, but I'm sure everyone else there enjoyed. If I got back I'll stick to a salad, but all my meat eating friends enjoyed it :) I was just bummed about the pie
Jay Bakenhaus
Always great food and staff! Definitely check out the smoker when you are there. A little high, but what isn't thanks to Biden~flation

I orders the Kid Brother sampler with pulled pork, brisket, hush puppies, and mac + cheese. The order came with three pieces of toast as well. I thought everything was really good. The brisket came with a bit of sauce but I added sweet barbecue sauce to both and loved it. Oddly, I had to go up to the counter and they had to fill a cup for me from the bottles of sauce which they tightly control.

After driving 10 hours on vacation my wife and I wanted to try some local BBQ as we passed through Nashville . An internet search led us to Martin's on Belmont. It was clean but the walls were cluttered and staff were busy calling out order number. Its hard to believe but that's part of the relaxing, southern family charm this place gave us. It's not your stuffy fine dining restaurant, it's your down home, family type, ole fashion, "eat em up" joint. The brisket falls off of your fork and the pulled pork melts in your mouth. I could list so much more, but you have to try it to understand. We loved it and only wish it were much closer to home.
Todd Wade
Delicious pulled pork with inside and outside meat mixed. Succulent and tasty with a sauce that complements without overpowering that nice smokey flavor from the meat. Sides were also delicious. I had mac and cheese that had a tasty crust on on it and full of that cheesy goodness and baked beans that had large chunks of pork in it that really complemented my meal.
For the tl;dr review: I'd eat this barbecue every other day and twice on Sunday.

It's OK.
I like the layout of the place, the people are friendly, the drinks cold, but the BBQ was "meh" at best. It was overdone and had to cut it from the ribs. Afterwards that was hard to chew, more like jerky than BBQ.
It had good flavor, but the consistency was way tougher than what I'm used to.
Lynn Patterson
This was my first time eating here and I would highly recommend it! The smell of smoked meat when you drive up makes your mouth water and the food is so good! I was a little disappointed that after we got our food, no one came by our table to see if we needed anything, our drinks refilled or a to go box, even though the other tables around us had someone stop by their tables.
Marcos Hernandez
Amazing food and great service! We had an issue with our order and they worked to make it right. Will definitely visit again.
nazia abbas
Amazing food very chilled vibe we have tried everything on their menu and there isn’t anything we don’t like. Ribs and brisket are my family’s go to I personally love their tacos and chilli Nashville’s must try
Steven Hoffenson
Awesome brisket. As for sides, I did not think the mac n cheese was worthwhile, but the hush puppies were great. Their regular bbq sauce was very vinegary. They have some other options if you ask - I liked the sweet red one.
Jay Rummage
Martins has the best brisket and whole hog BBQ in Nashville. I personally love that they make everything from scratch, even the fries. You may even see them carry a hog to the indoor smoker. One of my rules of BBQ joints is if I don’t see smoke coming out of the building I don’t stop. Martins always has smoke which guarantees fresh Q!

Martin’s catered our son’s rehearsal dinner and it was fabulous! They were great to work with in advance, did advance prep, we’re on time, served great food with a smile, & cleaned up. Two thumbs up. We’d use them again!
Matt Denman
Wow! The BEST barbecue I have ever had. Tender, tasty meat and a kind, helpful staff. Pay attention to your number, they walk around and yell it out to deliver you your amazing Tennessee cuisine.
Carol Vogt
Insanely delicious brisket, the best BBQ beans I've ever put in my mouth and cole slaw to die for! And nothing greasy whatsoever! Bravo Martin's on Belmont! Excellent! And I picked up curbside! Thanks for Safe Distancing and wearing a mask too for us Senior citizens~
Jennifer Olsen
The smell when you walk in is amazing! Then the local beer selection and southern BBQ are even better!
Casey Benefield (Think A Little)
I was here on a business visit from Birmingham. Exquisite BBQ! I will definitely be back next time I come to Nashville!
It had that southern homey feel, a selection of sauces (I like sauces), as well as huge portions. Good for a hotel-take-home for later. :)
Mandy Festervand
In visiting from Texas and wanted to experience some Tennessee barbecue, best culinary decision today. Amazing food, friendly atmosphere, and good service. Will definitely eat here again.
Laura Mazurek
I had brisket tacos and they were really great. With it I also got mac and cheese and potato salad. It was nice how they automatically keep filling up water cups for people to take. Everyone was extremely friendly too.
Kyra Bryant
Best ribs you'll ever have. Dry rub is all you need! I like the Alabama white sauce on the side. Their food is fresh, and if you don't get there early enough, expect the good stuff to be gone. I've arrived at 8:30 plenty of times and they're out of ribs. So don't wait! The pecan pie is to die for!! I'm gettin hungry...
Sara Johnson
There could be more food for your buck. I had plenty with what I ordered however, my friend ordered the brisket and only received 2 fatty pieces. We were told to flag down someone if we wanted more to drink. I did this and was nicely told to get it myself. I decided to ask someone else and they got me a refill.
Though the service was shotie and there could have been more, the food was wonderful! The man behind the counter was a hoot!
Robin Zabotinsky
Oh my went there Saturday night, long line order at the counter, they bring it to you. Had pork ribs, the meat fell off the bone and melted in my mouth. The hush puppies were crunchy and delicious, my friend had baby back ribs he was equally happy. It was worth the wait!!
Ethan Moore
Great BBQ, with a side of great service. I highly recommend if you are craving good BBQ!
ethan briere
I never leave reviews but had to for this place. Amazing all around. Fantastic service, phenomenal food, from the meats to the SAAUUUCES!!! They have 5 in house made sauces that will blow your top off so hard you're gonna need a spaceship to find your head in the atmosphere.
Rick Dod
Very very good... I got the smoke turkey breast sandwich... I think the sauce had a hint of cinnamon to it?... Yes, I was surprised too... But yes it was very good.
Taylor W
I LOVE the redneck taco! It's excellent and so is the brisket! Though it takes two brisket sandwiches to be a sufficient meal for my husband, they are not big. The wings were just ok.
Mike Silva
Wow. Possibly the best barbecue I’ve ever had
Julie Smith
Great service, fun environment and fantastic food! We stop every time we visit or drive through the area!
j phillips
Whole hog, whole good. While pork and brisket are great, turkey is quietly the best thing on the menu. Sides are good across the board and the pies are particularly good. Usually a place has the meat or sides or dessert, but here is the trifecta. Enjoy!
Matthew Guinn
This place is very popular. I went in on a Sunday around 6pm and there was a pretty good line to order your food. However, it did move pretty quickly and the time between ordering and receiving my food was very little. Great BBQ. Also had an impressive beer selection.
Gizza Triana
The restaurant has a cool layout and decor, amazing bbq and great desserts. I had a cheeseburger and my family had the Mama's platter. The sides were delicious and the meat was savory. The meat fell off the ribs. My first stop in Nashville and I might be back!
Liz Doyle
Absolutely delicious. Loved the atmosphere, the bbq was so tender and juicy and so many sides to choose from. Ask for the 3 other sauces that they keep behind the counter. The sauce they offer on the table is great but I preferred the milder sweet sauce.
Ethan Hill
Happened to randomly pick this one night for dinner and after waiting in line for 20 minutes - almost gave up - but it's a good thing I didn't because it was one of the best BBQs I've had in a long while.
Delicious food - fun ambience! The food portions were a little small, but not bad. Also wish we didn't have to wait in line so long...
mariah Ummel
The BEST smoked chicken I have ever had! The fries were homeade and delicious too, hibs got ribs and the mac and cheese, was also delicious. Plan on coming back next time we visit.
Angela F
Shared the Big Brother plate with my husband at lunch time. Brisket was good, sauce on it seemed to be a vinegar base. The baby back ribs were dry unless you got a piece of fat with your bite. Place was busy but we waited maybe 15 minutes to order. Staff was friendly. But where was my pickle, you had the white bread. It must be a Texas thing.
Richard Cramer
Good southern bbq. A little pricy for what you get but hey..it was very good bbq. I did not notice any ribs on the menu. I had the brisket platter with Mac n cheese and fritters. Cost was 11.99 plus my drink. What arrived on my platter was worth about half of that.
Kimberly Abramski
Great food! Great atmosphere! Nice staff! Loved my pulled pork sandwich and home made potato chips. The hubs had the brisket plate and loved his too!
Ryan Lovett
Our first BBQ restaurant we've visited since moving to Tennessee and we were not disappointed! Great atmosphere and amazing food. We got the beef brisket and it was delicious, can't wait to go back and try other stuff on the menu.
Travis Moore
Martin’s rocks. I used to live out in the Nolensville area where I believe Martin’s originated. Any time family or friends would visit, that’s where we went. This location’s vibe is spot on. Great porch seating in a great part of town. I’d highly recommend the brisket sandwich, fries, mac & cheese, green beans, hush puppies and my wife really likes the chips.
alan cook
Best Barbecue we have ever had. Got the Big Poppa Sampler and 4 of us couldn't finish it. This was an amazing experience and our server Lil Chris was top notch...best server ever! 5 stars isn't enough for Chris!
tom martin
It was wonderful the dining area is clean and spacious. It is not loud which allows u to have conversations without having to shout.. the service is excellent and friendly and the best part is the food which is very delicious we had ribs and brisket you have a ride to your three or four sauces the hush puppies are good too you will not be disappointed
Greg Peterson
OH MY!!! Hands down the best BBQ I've ever had. Staff was great but that brisket was out of this world! They have spoiled ever having BBQ anywhere else again! Only regret was not buying a hat so overall it was fantastic.
William Mccormack
Absolutely luuuuved it

Jason Machado
One of the best places we stopped in on our road trip. The BBQ was exceptional. The place was bright and clean and smelled amazing. The food was unreal and the staff were super helpful and folksy. Can't give this place a better review. If you find line up for the counter, do yourself and favour and be patient. It's worth the wait.
Brandon
The wings in this place we're out of this world! 5/5 on this just because of the wings. I also tried the ribs both dry and wet. For me, the ribs were a little dry and tough for my liking. I also didn't care for the corn hotcake thing. Everyone was super nice here though!
Charlie Renaud
One of the best BBQ joints I've ever been too. Their barbeque sauce is amazing and the meat is tender and juicy. If you're in Nashville, it's a must to eat here.
Pam Lofton
We loved it! The food was delicious! Not one single thing was mediocre, everything was top notch! And this includes the atmosphere and service. We'll definitely come back every time we visit Nashville.
John Dayani
OK, so the BBQ is awesome - pick anything ya like. BUT the real sleeper is that they've got the BEST HAMBURGER in town. No tight jeans needed for this burger, fancy names or toppings, it's simply the best. If you're hungry go for the Brisket Burger and thank me later.
