Reviews of Margot Cafe & Bar
Omg, what a hidden gem. This place is a farm to table restaurant and then changes every day. The service was great. I had a waiter that was a comedian and had the best service.
I tried fried rabbit for the first time. The rabbit was so juicy and crispy. As an appetizer I had Prosciutto with blistered shishito peppers.
This is a French restaurant with a southern influence.
Easily one of my favorite new restaurants in Nashville. Service was superb, the bread with olive oil and balsamic was absolutely to die for, the carrot soup was rich and perfectly balanced, and the chicken and grits were perfectly cooked. And one of the best cheesecakes I’ve had. This is a no brainer must try restaurant.
I can't write anything legitimate about the food, because my wife and I stopped by here for a drink while we waited for nearby pizza takeout, but the drinks we had were phenomenal. My wife had a maple old fashioned of sorts and I had a specialized spin on a negroni.
What was even more amazing than our drinks was the service! In order to have our drinks, we sat outside on a chilly night and our server Dana was super accommodating. She brought us blankets and extra cushioning without us even asking..made sure we had some water, and was incredibly friendly. It almost felt like she was hosting us at her home and it was very welcoming. Kudos to Dana and the bartenders...will have to check out the food if we ever visit Nashville again!
The service was wonderful. The food came out quick and the price very reasonable. Much better than Husk where we were at last night. The service was great there too but their prices much higher for what I think food that wasn’t much better. The braised beef rib was very good. Would come here again
Had a wonderful meal here the other night. The green sauce that the chickpea fritters come in is gold. The fresh focaccia bread perfect. More than anything though, Naomi took wonderful care of us. High marks all around. I had the (juiciest) chicken with a green goddess dressing - pictured below.
This place is awesome! They consistently serve great food and offer excellent service. The only thing that is missing a good place to park.
This was such a surprise in our Nashville trip! The restaurant was so cute and very quaint and cozy with an upstairs loft dining room and main floor dining room. The menu was ever changing and delicious. The staff was the nicest and so efficient. I could totally see myself here again for a date night or girls night out.
I had really high expectations. A chef I work with said it was fantastic. Our server was really nice.
He did bring the wrong bottle of wine to our table and did not offer to bring the correct bottle.
The soup had great flavor but was room temperature.
I ordered the monk fish for my main, both mine and the other person In My party had barely warm entrees.
The strudel for dessert was fantastic.
Our overall experience was nice although I would have given a better rating for hot food.
We had reservations for Sunday Brunch this past weekend. The atmosphere in the place was fantastic. Everyone was extremely friendly. Our servers were very attentive and had great advice and knowledge of their dishes. The food was delicious. We tried just about a little of everything. DO NOT skip the house GooGoo Cluster. We are going back on the morning we leave town for the pancakes.
I wish I could give this place 10 stars. Dinner last night was wonderful! Our waiter Mathew D. was amazing!! His knowledge of the menu was exceptional. I thought I knew what I wanted until he started to describe each dish. I changed my mind and am so glad I did. Trust his recommendations! And save room for the chocolate walnut pie. It was delicious! The waitstaff was wonderful. Every person so nice and helpful. Loved the atmosphere...loved everything! I cannot wait to go back!
Really incentive food, pleasant service, nice atmosphere. Kinda wish the tables weren't sticky (it's the varnish), but no biggie. Not a big fan of the bloody mary. We had the crepes and the grits bowl for brunch, both very good. The peaches and cream starter was best though.
Lovely local restaurant with a French flair. Menu printed daily depending on fresh ingredients. We had grilled whole trout, steak, risotto, pasta and pork loin over grits. Starters were lentil soup, fresh salad and Moroccan lamb pizzelle. There were no losers. Service was fast and accurate. We had some special cocktails and a bottle of wine. For dessert we had spiced apple cake and rich chocolate hazelnut torte and French press coffee. This place is an institution now after many years of grand food. Reservations advised.
I will go back to Nashville just to eat here. I was on a bit of a walkabout and slid into this place for some AC and a beer and was blown away by the vibe of the place. The staff is so on point and lots of them and the whole decor and layout is simple divine. I only had a few beers but the food I saw going out looked great and the menus was fantastic. For whatever my little review is worth I can tell you I have been in many great places in my time and this one is on the top of my list to revisit one day for a proper meal.
The homemade chips were awesome. My hubby and I came here for dinner and he had food poisoning from the lunch that we ate earlier in the day. The waitstaff were so kind and hurried up and prepared our food so that we can take it to go. The chicken was so juicy and delicious, and even though we didn’t spend much time there, the food that we ate was fantastic.
Lovely atmosphere, attentive service and exquisite food! Menu changes daily and is incredibly fresh! Add this to your dining list when in East Nashville!!
I can’t say enough good things about Margot Cafe! The food is delicious and feels personal. Atmosphere and service is also wonderful. Easily my go-to place for a nice dinner out in Nashville.
Ate here today and had an incredible meal of steak, cheese and mushroom crepes, along with lox and eggs, and a slice of rhubarb pie. Everything was absolutely delicious. And each staff member came outside (we ate in their cute outdoor patio) and gave treats and cuddles to our dog, Trooper.LB What an incredibly warm and inviting restaurant with amazing food and kind staff. (Also very covid safe!!)
Wonderful location in East Nashville. Food is well prepared, staff is friendly and bar selection is well curated. Menu appears to be seasonal, and my partner and I would happily return.
Absolutely love this local East Nashville spot. The food is so delicious and the atmosphere is warm and cozy. Must try this place out when visiting Nashville. Service is always delightful and the staff allow you plenty of time to enjoy your meal without feeling rushed.
Margot’s reminded me of a quaint European cafe. It’s small and charming and you can actually have a conversation without yelling! The service was excellent as was the food. Nice wine and drink menu along with a bar if you want to go in for a drink before dinner.
There were six of us and from beginning to end we were there about 2 and a half hours. The menu changes daily and all the options sounded wonderful. With six of us we all got to taste a variety on the menu from the starters, entrees and desserts. Wow! They were all delicious and so fresh. The housemade potato chips and aioli were my favorite starter, but they were all very good. Definitely get the bread too! The lettuce in the salad was so incredibly fresh and the goat cheese melted in your mouth. For my entree I had the pan roasted chicken and it was very flavorful and juicy, but the sauce stole the show imho. Could have had a bowl of the creamy horseradish sauce. Yummy! Of course dinner wouldn’t be complete without dessert. Nothing needs to be said here as they were all fantastic! I was slightly partial to the bread pudding:)
There is a patio area that was heated and must be great in the summer time. Paid parking is available across the street or if you are lucky you might be able to find street parking. Word of caution, in the paid lot be careful of the time as the car next to us got the boot!
Definitely recommend Margot’s and am looking forward to the next visit to see what is on the menu!
Went here. Homemade bread and funky oil was really good. I got the veal pasta stuff. It was almost too fancy but it was pretty good. Our waiter gave us the wrong bill so that was kind of annoying. I probably won't come here again because its 4 hours from where I live but if you live closer then you should go. They put us up on the balcony which was cool. I kept asking to throw bread at people. Great experience.
Excellent! Great food & ambience. What a neat little place to visit while in Nashville. The food was superbly prepared & delicious. The staff was very courteous & knowledgeable. Great drink menu. Save room for dessert.
The passion and pride exuding from everyone that works here truly stands out. By far will be a regular spot from now on. Such a hidden gem.
The blood orange jam. 🤤
Superb atmosphere and exquisite cuisine. Not cheap, but not overpriced either. Definitely coming back.
This was an amazing experience my husband and I had while we were visiting Nashville. Very impressed with the food, service, and ambience here. Although we didn't have a reservation and the place was packed they accommodated us quickly so we had the pleasure to dine in at Margot.
From appetizers to drinks and dessert, everything was exquisite and tasted so good. The portions are the right size for you to enjoy the food not to overeat. Isn't that great?
We had housemade focaccia with herb infused oil, greener roots salad, salmon, Shephard's pie and gingerbread cake, and thoroughly enjoyed all.
The cocktail I had with gin and pear was pretty delicious with just right amount of sweetness and not syrupy at all.
Highly recommend it and will definitely eat here if we visit Nashville again!
Margot has been an OG of the Nashville food scene, and the food has been consistently amazing for over 20 years. We went last night and had another great meal. You really can't go wrong with anything. And despite the staffing issues many restaurants are struggling with, the servers at Margot have always been great.
What a wonderful treasure we have in East Nashville 5 Points in Margot. My fiancé and I had our first date here. She was very impressed with my choice, so when it came time to pop the question, I went with nostalgic and reliable Margot. I made our reservations and called Sally to say I needed some help making the night special. I asked for more private seating and she recommended that we could sit upstairs. She also helped me come up with the idea of having printed on the menus my proposal. Everything happened perfectly and our waiter Seth and staff were wonderful the entire night. To conclude, go to Margot, it's a wonderful restaurant, and thank you again for your adaptability and hospitality. We will alway think of Margot in the future for any of our dining plans.
Dinner here was a tasty and delicious evening and the staff were perfect. The food was an explosion off taste and nice proportions.
My wife and I have been eating here since 2008. It’s our favorite restaurant in Nashville. We love the frequent updates to the menu but always start things off with the house made chips. Great drinks, food, and service in a relaxed atmosphere.
Place was great, we were the last seating of the evening and had a little bit of a issue getting seated at our reservation time. Kaelyn our server was knowledgable about the menu and had great recommendations. Quality was great and price was affordable. Overall great experience and would recommend it to anyone.
So good. Warm, friendly place. Every person we talked with was kind and knowledgeable. Delicious food. A few surprises that delighted. This is the place to go and enjoy!
Loved this place. The staff made us feel really special-- they went out of their way to take care of us. The food wonderful-the ambiance fabulous. Thank you all so very much.
There was a problem with our reservations; however, they were able to work us in. That alone was amazing.....but, they treated us no differently.
A beautiful evening.
The service was phenomenal. The food just so flavorful. I throughly enjoyed my visit. Thank you for a great dining experience.
Lovely! It happened to be a special Bastille’s Day Menu… what a treat !
Thank you Chef and team !
🌸
I've been going to Margot for years now and it is consistently amazing! I love that the menu is always different but that there are definitely things that rotate with different ingredients. Anytime I see a sugo on the menu I know I'm getting it! I've especially loved when it's a rabbit sugo. Of course I have liked some things better than others but Margot has never let me down. I also really love the service. The staff may rotate but the feeling of being known and treated like you're valued is always present. It's almost like stopping over at a friend's house who just happens to have great wine and delicious food waiting for whomever pops by.
Absolutely delightful atmosphere and food. We day at the bar and enjoyed every bite and scene.
Margot’s is always amazing, one of our favorites in all of nashville. The rotating menu means there’s always something amazing to try, and after 8 visits, I don’t know if anyone has ever been disappointed.
The salads aren’t huge but full of flavors. This time I had beets (not pictured).
The meats are always cooked perfectly.
The staff is top notch; warm and friendly, not over the top.
Thanks Margot! We really love your place.
Had a wonderful meal here on a Saturday evening. The entire staff was laid back but attentive. The food was amazing! I’d recommend what we had, but the menu changes daily. Fine cuisine in the heart of East Nashville!
Heard great things about this place, and the service and atmosphere were really nice. Unfortunately I found the food way too salty and overpriced for what you get. I like the farm to table concept, but Nashville does local sourcing well, so for the same price you could go somewhere better.
This was a very unique place with upscale dining in a nouveau industrial setting. I loved the farm to table philosophy, and the constantly rotating menu had me intrigued.
And, can I say... MOCKTAILS. I always appreciate when restaurants have mocktails, because I feel left out during drinking time.
Speaking of "left out", you won't feel left out of the restroom! They have all-gender restrooms, so nobody has to hold it (unless desired, of course).
Fantastic meal and service. We had the paté, salmon hushpuppies, monkfish, chicken, strawberry trifle, and lemon tart. Looking forward to our next visit.
If I only had known about this place sooner. My son works at the Hermitage and has learned much about good food and drinks. He is the one who recommended we eat there before our Eagles concert event..
I personally have been a food and beverage manager and look for quality. Margot Cafe quality was through the roof for multiple reasons. Food is exceptionable. To the point I didn't want to eat too fast cuz I wanted to savor every bite. The service from the wait staff Seth, bus staff Seth and manager Destin couldn't have been kinder.
Loved the ambiance and the fact that use old China that reminded me of my nana. Added plus; clean restrooms which is indicative restaurant maintained cleanliness throughout their establishment.
Two thumbs up!! Highly recommended and will visit again - for certain!! 🌻🦋✌🤟
Had a great time here. The waitress was great and helped me get a cocktail that I liked since I am kind of picky with liquor. She had the bartender make me something special. Food was delicious. All around a great experience.
Great atmosphere and food. Kevin is wonderful server.
Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. Food was very fresh and excellently prepared. Cocktails were unique and delicious as well. I Will definitely be back.
New favorite spot for date night! We had a wonderful experience here. The ambiance, the food, the drinks, the service... I only have good things to say! We loved the focaccia appetizer. I think I would have eaten through all of thier focaccia and olive oil/balsamic blend if I wasn't so excited about my entree. I ordered the trout dish. It was late on a Sunday, so they ran out of trout, but the offered to substitute it with tuna which I gladly accepted! All of the flavors in the dish blended together perfectly. My boyfriend's rabbit dish was equally amazing. Then we finished our meal with a peach crumb tartlette a la mode. 😍 We sat inside but the outdoor seating was so cute. I look forward to sitting outside here on a beautiful day, enjoying another delicious meal.
Warm, inviting, comfortable. Margot Cafe & bar manages to bring a classical European cafe feel to East Nashville and pairs it with wonderful food selections which aren’t too sophisticated but yet are still complex and deep. The hospitality was warm and welcoming. We will most certainly be back soon! (The tomato bread soup was remarkable and is a “must-have”, as was the venison and polenta!)
I was really excited to go to Margot’s for the first time for a holiday dinner date. They had a special menu for Reveillon on Dec. 23rd. We ordered the raclette on toast appetizer which was so-so. The second course of oyster chowder was delicious. Our main courses, however, were unbearably salty to the point that we had to send them back. They did provide a quick replacement of the same item that was perfectly cooked and gave us our dessert for free. Overall, I had higher hopes for Margot’s given reviews from friends and online. The quantity and quality of food we received did not feel like it was worth the $150 check. However, we appreciated the atmosphere and the staff’s willingness to correct their errors.
Very likely the most whole-hearted 5-star review I've ever given. Amazing service. Nice ambience. Excellent value. Delicious, unique, seasonal food. Felt upscale and somehow still so unpretentious. Also our server was one of the best servers I've ever had. 10/10 would recommend.
We had such an amazing experience here that we went back two nights in a row! Once for drinks and once for dinner. Our servers were amazing, friendly, and gave us great tips on exploring Nashville. The drinks and food were both great, and we loved being able to sit out on the patio. Highly recommend for a wonderful meal out!
Without a doubt one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Nashville. Not pretentious, very comfortable, substantial portions, unique and fresh menu, lovely setting, more than reasonable prices, knowledgeable servers and excellent service. We were amazed!
This place is wonderful. I was concerned about eating there because of the reviews saying they are rude. But that was not the case. I drove from Chattanooga TN to Nashville TN with my mom and son, and it was most definitely worth it. The waitress was very informative she knew the items on the menu is she gave honest opinions on our choices. And I appreciate that very much. The atmosphere was cozy home like very comfortable very very comfortable
Great dinner, creative choices, beautiful presentation. Service was first rate.
This is honestly the best meal that I've had in a long time. Everything we ordered was incredible and cooked to perfection. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! Definitely can't wait to come back here.
Incredible food and service! Cozy atmosphere. Definitely recommend this restaurant!
We had a fantastic Saturday evening. Easy reservations through Resy. The homemade breads with oil and vinegar was so good - we could probably have just stopped there with wine. The server was great and tailored the tempo for us (slow down despite 5 year old). Speaking of that, he offered several kid friendly options that were not on the menu right away without us asking which made our son feel special and set us up for a great night. The food was great, the atmosphere fun. I hesitate to type this, but the closest to Chez Panisse café we have found outside of CA or NYC. 100% going back.
Nice atmosphere and service was good and waiter was helpful and pleasant. Food was pretty good. Nothing super special but by no means disappointing really. Give it a shot if you are nearby, but I probably wouldn't go far out of my way for it.
Fantastic food. Cozy atmosphere. Personable staff.
One of East Nashville's longstanding best restaurants and one of the reasons 5 Points is a destination. Great food, service, atmosphere. Perfect date night location.
My husband and I happened upon this amazing jewel in Nashville TN.
I am always excited when the staff is knowledgeable about their menu and specials, it is such a huge reflectionon how well a restaurant is ran.
Our food was amazing and our server was exceptional.
Menu changes daily based on best ingredients available. Extremely creative and delicious food. Lovely patio and cozy atmosphere.
Truly great staff! Best service. Really helps to have reservations but I wouldn’t let that hinder you from popping in for early or late dinner.
Absolutely love this unpretentious place in East Nashville! The staff are so nice. The ambiance is cozy sunfilled and just adorable. We came for brunch. The bloody marys are so good. French press coffee is strong and delicious. We ordered the potato crepes, sausage, and croissant french toast. All were outstanding!!
Oh my goodness, the food was excellent!!! It was fresh with great flavor! Cute place with indoor and outdoor seating! My new favorite restaurant!!!❤❤❤ If you haven't been there yet, GO, do reservations, and enjoy your evening! Amazing chefs/cooks!!!
Go eat here now!!! The staff is wonderful and food is great!! I went on a Saturday without a reservation and was seated right away. The cocktail selection is WONDERFUL! My husband and I shared the lamb/rice/cucumber/tomato/feta dish and the hanger steak. Both were delicious, but I am the BIGGEST fan of Mediterranean food, and the lamb dish nailed it perfectly with spices. I highly highly highly recommend!!!! I will be back!
Margot is hands down my favorite restaurant. The food is always fresh & delicious, Destin is so welcoming, and the environment is elevated yet relaxing. For my anniversary, they even made my fiance's favorite cake on the day I proposed to her! If you're debating Margot or anywhere else, choose Margot.
Amazing dinner as always! Our combination graduation/Mother's Day celebration meal was delicious, the service was impeccable, and the ambiance was wonderful. Love this place. Thanks for the perfect ending to a perfect day!
I’ve dined in at Margot pre-pandemic many times and have been getting takeout about monthly for the past year. Everything I’ve ever had is exquisite. (Except the olives, but that’s personal preference, their olives are objectively good.) Some of the best meals of my life have come from them. I take everyone who visits me in Nashville here, and I go there for myself as well. Highly recommend.
The food is always incredible and imaginative and the staff is wonderful. My daughter and I eat here whenever we get the chance.
We went there for brunch this morning (Yes! They are now serving Saturday and Sunday brunch y'all!), and it was yummy as always. I had the Grits with a Poached Egg and Sausage Gravy and my daughter had the Croque Madame and we were not disappointed. Shout out to Jessie and Taylor for taking such good care of us.
Do yourself a favor and treat yourself, you won't be disappointed.
Definitely the best restaurant in Nashville. Great staff, great atmosphere fantastic food.
Great food, great place and even better service! Loved this place for its ambiance and the many menu options. Unfortunately just went for comfort food - American breakfast, but the toast was to die for and the bacon just thick enough and crispy enough fir me. Served coffee in a French press. All great.
Love that the amazingly-delicious food is on rotation according to what's in season. The happy hour menu also follows, with an often-unique pizza according to what's available in the kitchen. Good, reliable wine list. Great staff that have been there for a long time. Couldn't ask for much more.
Really fine food and service. The offerings are unique, with distinctive flavors. But they also deliver a comfort food satisfaction. An extensive beverage list including custom cocktails and nice dessert selection. Great service: attentive but not fussy. Margot's is fabulous!
Small bistro with fabulous food eat of downtown. Pizzette, olives, and cheese plate were all great starters. Bucatini with lamb ragout was outstanding. Noise level was not that loud for a small space. Lyft mighty be best bet as parking is on street and this place is popular.
Great atmosphere, amazing service. Great food
My husband and I went to this spot for date night. We have never been here before and I was so pleasantly surprised. It is charming and quiet, low lit and romantic. The service was excellent. The food was absolutely delicious! We initially scoffed at the fact that we had to pay for bread... but we ended up getting two servings and joking about paying up to $20 to purchase a loaf of their fresh foccacia. I got the steak and he got swordfish. We gobbled it all up so fast. We ended it with more wine and their unique goo goo cluster dessert. I love that their menu is always changing with the freshness of the food available in our area. How cool! If you have not tried this place, go!! You will not be disappointed. We cannot wait to go back.
The best place we ate in Nashville, Mathew was our waiter and the best! Would recommend to anyone, Perfect in every way!!
Goddess soup is to die for. Cheese plate and snap pea salad equally as good. The hostess yesterday evening was an absolute pleasure to work with. Thank you!
Outstanding food in a cozy atmosphere. Creative cocktails. Everyone is very willing to cater to your needs. The daily menu changes with what's fresh and available at the market which means every day is a new pleasant experience. The apple crisp for dessert took me on a trip to childhood and back.
My roommate and I had the pleasure of having Michael as our waiter. We mentioned it was our first time visiting, so he took time to go over the menu, letting us know what’s good and how certain items were cooked. The Violette French 75 is A+. I am grateful for the sweet staff - from Michael to the bartender and hostess (I’m sorry I didn’t get your names!), we felt very welcomed. We will return because of them.
A delightful place for cocktails and dinner! The bar is intimate and the bartender is knowledgeable and friendly. The dining room is very nice and the food delicious!
I enjoyed the whole crispy fish. It was perfectly cooked and topped with a delicious stuffing.
Amazing food. its our first time in Nashville and his is a must for anyone. The food was amazing and make sure to stop by the bar, visit Zack and order a "Sara Maple Old Fashioned" drink. Enjoy!
The ONLY reason that I'm not giving 5 stars is because we waited about an hour for our food to come. This restaurant is typically reservation only, but we were able to get a table as we traveled 3 hours and were celebrating a birthday. The food was amazing! It was all so very fresh. You could taste that everything was made from scratch and ingredients were local. From the butter and bread, to the peaches and cream. It was all so light and flavorful. mmmmm, I'm getting hungry thinking about it :D The hostess was so pleasant and helped keep our children entertained. I would definitely recommend...just keep in mind that you may wait a long time for your food, but it's well worth the wait!
Never had escargot before and will definitely be back for some more!
Had such a pleasant, cozy, and delicious meal at Margot last night. Everything was so fresh and the service was great. We ate on the later side, so we weren't around anyone, but they were taking appropriate COVID measures. Can't wait to come back.
Margot's didn't disappoint. Destin welcomed us in and we felt immediately comfortable in the chic environment. Our server, was attentive, with great suggestions that didn't disappoint. I was blown away by the food, which was just fantastic. I had the grilled tri-tip, cooked to perfection.
This is my favorite restaurant in Nashville, hands down. The (daily changing) menu is incredibly creative, and there's so much thought given to every dish. We had foccacia with infused olive oil and balsamic, pork belly pizza, and the vegetarian couscous, the latter of which was the most delicious thing I've eaten in the city. The environment is beautiful but not ostentatious, a welcome relief after how many new places are all fluff, no substance. The server was wonderful, and was passionate about the food. We're making a standing reservation to come back every two weeks for date night!
Fantastic experience last night. The staff was welcoming, polite, and courteous. My wife and I were seated in a very quiet corner overlooking the bar/restaurant. The food was masterfully prepared and artfully presented. We've never had a bad experience at Margot's.
This place is an amazing little gem. French food is hard to find prepared right. This place does it. It's a true atmosphere for a classical restaurant in France. Nice to have a place like this one in East Nashville. And bonus the menu changes daily. Brilliant
My husband and I came here for our "nice dinner night" on our honeymoon. Couldn't have been happier. In such a cute part of town. It was a Tuesday night and it was perfect. The server was amazing and had recommendations that fit our taste perfectly. The menu changes every day but you can tell the chef puts a lot of love and thought into each dish. The wine list was abundant and my husband enjoyed one of their specialty cocktails! Would totally recommend for a quiet, fresh and fulfilling dinner if looking to get off the busy streets of down town Nashville. We took Lyft from our hotel and it was only a $6 ride. So happy we made it over there!
Wonderful winter meal as expected. Romantic ambiance. Excellent menu and preparation. From cocktails to dessert. Great service!
I come to Nashville every year and we always visit Margot's. It's beyond fabulous every time. This year she had a catfish special. I wanted to lick my plate clean it was that good.
There is nothing to disappoint here. You will come away with happy tastebuds!!
Best neighborhood restaurant in Nashville. Great food .., great service ...and they don't gouge you!!! My favorite restaurant for Sunday brunch as well. If you are in east Nashville , treat yourself to a night at Margot's!
4 years later... still best spot in Nashville. Went last night and the food and service fantastic.
Best restaurant in Nashville. Lovely everything. Forget all these fancy new restaurants. As long as there is Margot your palette will be satisfied. The portions are very generous and you will love something from every course. The dessert menu is AMAZING.
Go-to restaurant for a dependable, delicious meal, intimate vibe and knowledgeable, genuinely invested wait staff. There’s a nice wine selection and cocktails are whimsical and tasty. Not an over the top French café. It’s always given a cozy feel. Good idea to reserve a table and check the menu that updates daily.
Cool vibe. Women operated. Seasonal menu with good variety of brunch cocktails and fresh farm to table options. Be sure to make reservations, walk in dining is limited
Wife and I were really excited to eat here - daily menus and high ratings.
Food was just so-so, there was a decided lack of strong favors in all the meals. The cheese appetizer with apple spread was not well seasoned, the apple spread had very little flavor. The salad was fine, but to be fair how hard it is to make a salad? The steak was also good but not special in any way. Overall the food was "ok".
The service however was just rotten. Our primary waitress seemed to dislike us the moment we stepped into the place and did not smile once the entire evening. Everything was prompt and the service was on-time, it just felt like she would rather be doing anything than interacting with the table.
Not the best first impression for sure.
Really, really good food and charming vibe at Margot. Definitely a special place in east Nash. Very kind people working there. Looking forward to going back!
Loved the Sunday Dinner Menu. Service was excellent. Reservation process is an old-school phone call, which is easy to deal with. Food was delicious, and the cocktails were excellent. It is one of my favorite places in East Nashville.
First time at Margot last night and it did not disappoint. The food is excellent and the vibe is on-point. if you go, ask for Kevin. He is the man!!
Margot is a nice place to join friends and have a nice quiet dinner. We sat on the patio, but you can sitninside or at the bar. The service was great and so was the food. The covered patio is pet friendly for those who want to bring the family pet along. The tuna was excellent.
I'm disappointed that I've been in Nashville for two years and yesterday was the first time I dine at Margot. I'm usually not a fan of restaurants with a daily changing menu as I do not eat many food products and do not like to be surprised with a menu that has limited items for me to order from (given my dietary restrictions). However, Margot offered all sorts of dishes that would suit everyone including pescetarians and vegetarians. The Tile fish that I had had to be one of the best fish meals I've ever had. Just really tasty and flavorful. The seating area was also very nice as the restaurant is in a old house that has been converted. The atmosphere is romantic, but also makes you feel at home at the same time. Will definitely be going to Margot more often, I hear they serve great brunch!
I had lunch there today, for the first time, and will definitely visit again. The food was absolutely delicious. The vibe was a touch eccentric, quaint and charming. It was the perfect place to meet with my friends I haven’t seen in a while to “catch up.” :)
Margot's was the restaurant to start the East Nashville restaurant boom. For good reason. Plates are not only delicious but well presented. The staff is knowledgeable and courteous. The ambience is great. For foodies that are visiting Nashville, this should be at the top of your list .
One of THE best restaurants on the face of the planet!
Cuisine is AMAZING.
Service is 6 stars on a scale of 1-5. Ask for Dana to be your server - she's awesome, and really cares about her customers.
My husband and I had roasted chicken and the flatiron steak. It was all simply delicious!! We were looking for a romantic, quaint place to eat while in town and this place nailed it! Also, the dessert, apple "something" was to die for!!!
Like most places in East Nashville this restaurant is fairly small and reservations are recommended. Very little parking but lots all around. Menu changes daily but if ours is representative there is plenty to choose from. Food was fresh and delicious.
Wonderful French restaurant. Last time I went was for my Mom's birthday. Seasonal menu which does change quite often but nevertheless there is always something for everyone. Must have the steak tartare. Fantastic...
Margot is classy and comfortable. The food is always good. I've been going for about ten years now and while some dishes are more amazing than others, I've never had a bad or even mediocre dish or beverage here. If they ever make their smoked trout cake again, I'll be in heaven.
Margot Cafe & Bar is an East Nashville staple. I typically dine here twice a week because it feels like home. Do yourself a favor and reserve a table. Enjoy!
This is an awesome place for brunch. Ordered the vegetable casserole which blew my mind. The sweet corn ice cream was a revelation. The bread pudding was to die for. Please go here if you are in the area and definitely make reservations as they could get crowded.
Very pleasant atmosphere. Not overly pedestrian OR overly trendy. Watermelon soup was excellent and peach yogurt cake was so light and fluffy.
We arrived early for our Saturday nite dinner and were able to get some great service. The crusty bread and foccacia were nice and complimented by a wonderful dipping oil with fresh herbs and cheese. We shared the cold cucumber soup that was delicious and packed with fresh herbs. My husband enjoyed a perfectly cooked steak with a crispy sear and lots of flavor. My house made spaghetti with chicken sugo was lovely, tender and dreamy. I wouldn't order pie there again but the chocolate pot de creme was super. We'd love to visit there in the future.
French peasant food meets good southern cooking. Margot is the definitive expert at finding the parallels. Margot Cafe has a menu that changes in its entirety every day, seasonal cocktails, a great happy hour, a lovely atmosphere and sincere attentive service. What more could you want in a dining experience?
High end food with great quality service. My husband and I enjoyed every single course. I especially loved dessert. It was the perfect place for an anniversary dinner. If I could give it 6 stars, I would.
Excellent food, great atmosphere. Due to the daily created menu from freshly sourced ingredients, the food options don't get old.
I think it most optimal for intimate or smaller parties (2-8). Drinks: cocktail, wine, beer
Parking, mostly paid, is available in the surrounding area.
Margot Cafe is a small local restaurant with a different menu each night. The staff will choose a new list for menu options and everything is prepared that day. There are plenty of options and the staff is very helpful with recommendations and service. The group I ate with enjoyed our appetizers and all our main courses.
The food was exquisite, tomatoes and mozarrella appetizer was bursting with flavor, steak was melt in your mouth tender and the vidalia onion cream scalloped potatoes is an honorable mention. There isn't really much parking, only for pick up. Quaint and great ambiance. From wine to desert, I'm hooked and will make it a usual place to dine.
A truly beautiful neighborhood restaurant and café with a wonderfully intimate bar. I highly recommend it to every east Nashville visitor. I’m not a foodie but I know that the James Beard award is a pretty high honor, the owner and the chef is in that class of restaurants.
Had a wonderful experience. Service was prompt and attentive. Food was excellent. I tried the fish and my dining partner had the steak, both were splendid. Strongly suggest a visit.
I've lived in Nashville since 2008 but never got around to Margot until now. Started with warm olives marinated with orange and fennel, and pizza with Shishito Peppers. Then tri-tip steak (a perfect medium) for me and pan roasted sturgeon for my wife. Our server, Heather, described everything perfectly, and was prompt, friendly and professional. Even though it was cold and rainy outside, we had house-made ice cream for dessert. What a wonderful experience.
Underwhelmed. I was excited to try Margot’s after having lunch at their sister restaurant Marche earlier in the day. The meal started off ok with the marinated olives. The curry lentil soup was flavorful but came out lukewarm. At least the seafood soup was good. Unfortunately, the entrees were less than stellar. The swordfish was over salted and dry and a petite portion for $26. The other entree we ordered was the pork chop which was dry and tough. The service was a bit rushed for our taste.
Belle Meade bourbon proudly on the breakfast menu. The steak and eggs is fantastic, and the croissant French toast may just be better, if only by a hair. Can't go wrong for brunch here if you can manage the wait!
Sometimes a little sloppy on presentation, but the attentive service and perfected French-style cooking more than make up for it. Wine list, while small, covers the important bases.
The mango sorbet I had to close the meal is actually the thing that pushes me to 5 stars instead of 4. Wish I could buy that stuff.
First time brunch here . By far one of the best brunches in Nashville. Have always been a dinner fan! Great food, great service, great cocktail/wine selection...perfect neighborhood dining experience. Brunch menu changes each week. Get the crepes :)
The food was amazing! Absolutely delicious brunch, drinks and desserts. The staff was so friendly, and the ambience was lovely. Will definitely be back!
Visiting Nashville. Margot is a wonderful surprise. Nice and comfortable. Food is great. I had three starters, the pan roasted Wreckfish and two desserts. I was a little indecisive, but it paid off with a great (large) meal.
Everything was as good as expected. The Penne absolutely blew our mind though. Dana did a wonderful job as our server.
Strongly recommend.
A fantastic restaurant and one that we're very lucky to have in E. Nashville. I would recommend them to anyone. Great service, priced well and just incredible food and atmosphere.
It didn't start well for us. Took forever to be greeted and seated while we had reservation. The server was at first rude and rushing. The appetizer we ordered to share, the cheese plater, was extremely disappointing. One cheese. Then crakers and marmelade. Weird for a French restaurant! But then it got better. The rest of the food was amazing (the lamb, ohlala) and the server became nicer and muxh more approachable. We ended up having a wonderful two hour date.
Oh no! Margot is literally favorite restaurant in Nashville. Accidental wrong location review, changed to 5 stars!
This is my 4th or 5th time to Margot's and she never dissappoints.....the waiter was excellent, the food was delicious.....fabulous.......
One of the best small fine dining restaurants in Nashville. Food is always excellent.
The original East Nashville, farm to table restaurant is still a must. The food was excellently prepared, presented, and served, but at no point in time does it feel pretentious. The pork belly was wonderful, as were the sides.
Margot Cafe is one of the longstanding traditions in Nashville. Before Nashville was the cool city with all its trendy restaurants, bars and hotels, this restaurant was here and one of the few culinary bright spots. There is a very good reason it has been around so long.
This hit all the marks on my checklist: great food, unique atmosphere, not over the top expensive, great service, not overly crowded, and great portion sizes.
We ordered the potato and leak soup, the chips, the ribeye with grits, and the veal ossa bucco over white beans. They were all incredible, and left us stuffed. That food, with a bottle of Cote du rhone added was roughly $110 (before tip). That's a steal in today's trendy Nashville atmosphere. Where else are you going to find that with great service and excellent food?
As an added bonus, if you are not looking to go home just yet, this restaurant is within walking distance of several other restaurant bars and other bars of all types. We went there on a date, and had a great time going to a bar afterwards. We made a whole night of being in that 5 points area.
Margot Cafe is one of the best places you can go in Nashville. There may be trendier, there may be more expensive or more exclusive, but nothing exemplifies Nashville more than this restaurant which was "Nashville" before Nashville was cool.
When Margot's sister restaurant Marche closed down, I panicked! But Margot has adopted many of the best dishes from Marche and retained the same calming, picturesque atmosphere. Fantastic service and great food—when the server noticed that my sausage was burnt, she asked the kitchen to make more before I even saw it. They are also taking great care to exercise caution in light of COVID.
Jane & I have enjoyed Margot's since opening. We have eaten in many restaurants across the country and still always return to the best, better than Chez Panisse.
The food & service is impeccable.
I had the snow pea salad which was crisp and had just a hint of a kick with the jalapeño peanut dressing. Then the fried rabbit which was delightful and moist. Not even a hint of gaminess. Ended the meal with a chocolate pot au creme that was rich and sinful. Highly recommend!
Deliciousness and inventive dishes. The space is very cozy and the staff is very friendly. The almond french toast might b the best french toast I have been had. Fresh French press coffee at your table. Reservations are a must
Visiting from out of town, my wife had heard good things about this place. So glad she wanted to go here. The meal was great, but the desert, wow, homemade angel food cake, with strawberries, the perfect strawberry shortcake.
Pioneer in the Nashville restaurant industry and still going strong. She took a chance on East Nashville and look what happened. I have been a customer since the beginning and have never been disappointed with the food or the service, always exceptional!
A cozy little spot in East Nashville. Everything was 5 stars! The service was impeccable. The food was unique, fresh & absolutely delicious. And the ambiance is authentic and charming.
A repurposed body shop on the outskirts of downtown Nashville, Margot Café is a culinary adventure. Offering a new menu every day, executive chef Margot provides her clientele the opportunity to experience a myriad of cuisines. The Chef de Cuisine is of the highest caliber, vastly talented and amazingly creative. Don't allow the location dissuade you. This is dining out at its very finest.
Absolutely the most amazing restaurant in 5Points! Margot’s food, staff, and atmosphere never disappoint. Love yourself enough to try and discover a truly special place.
Margot is truly a treat in Nashville! My husband and I have loved this spot for years now. Delicious food, fab service, and cozy atmosphere. Go here!
Love this place! The food is always on point. Love the changing of the menu daily too!
Best food and best service in Nashville.
Amazing food, spectacular staff, warm and cozy place, always a great option and wonderful experience. Definitely, a must stop, for all who visit East Nashville. Thank you for your dedication and attention with all your clients
Hard to make recommendations due to the revolving menu which is actually pretty cool, but the sirloi. (which was perfectly cooked) was bland and served with a very flat cauliflower or potato puree, with bok choy on top that became very soggy the whole thing was pretty bland. Cool ambiance and though.
10/10. That’s it. The service was fantastic. The food was even better. The espresso martini was divine. The maítre de made sure we felt right at home.
I ate here the other night with some friends and I was impressed with fun atmosphere and great food. I bit $$ bit well worth the cost. The menu changes every night and it is always a treat. I highly recommend this place place.
The best service and food I've had in the while town. Our waitress was amazing, the drinks were customized and made seamlessly, the fish was absolutely amazing.
One of our favorite places in the neighborhood. Margot is our go-to place for a delicious, romantic dinner. Always unique, creative & fresh- I couldn't recommend this gem any higher.
Love this place. Great for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Good cocktails. And the menu changes regularly (weekly?), so there's always something new to try.
Great food, service & atmosphere. Lovely setting, adequate parking, will return for dinner.
Wine Bar Schmine Bar. Looking for a Haute Casual date night spot where the stuff gets weird? Drink at home, make love at Margot's.
Wonderful experience. So appreciative of places still around that aren't the "new Nashville." Tri tip and veal osso bucco 😍
Really enjoyable meal with my wife and daughter. Great food selection and attentive staff in a restaurant where you don't feel rushed which was a nice surprise for such a popular area.
Simply one of the best in Nashville. With a foodie landscape extending well beyond what anyone thought possible 10-20 years ago, Margot remains a classic. Farm-to-table food in a reclaimed setting since before those were even things. Classic!
Salad with hunks of watermelon! It was so good! First time I’ve ever had that and I was skeptical at first. I will definitely get it again.
An absolutely wonderful restaurant, with gracious staff, and a conscientious chef regarding dietary restrictions.
We look forward to going back.
This is a must every time the in-laws are in town. The menu changes each day, and the meals get better every time we go. They go out of their way to make you happy.
Quaint little place. Decent food, but rather limited menu. Waitstaff was awesome and very knowledgeable about wine even though we bought our own.
Perfect romantic spot for couples. Food was excellent and the prices are reasonable. Loved it here!
They cook very tasty, quite sporo and the prices are affordable.
beautiful restaurant, even better food. highly recommended! we had the duck confit, cheese late, skate.. all fantastic. recommend making a reservation well in advance :)
I had a very nice experience at Margot. The food was tasty, the restaurant had nice ambience, and our server was great.
The food was excellent. The service good. The wine was very nice, the cocktails just okay.
Phenomenal. We use to visit their sister restaurant, Marché, every time we were in town and was so sad to read of their closing but glad to have Margot to enjoy.
One of the finest restaurants in Nashville, beautiful food and great service. Can't wait to go back
Delicious food and consistently great service. A trip to Margot always manages to be both a treat and a comfort!
Margot's is a go to for us for both regular outing and special occasions. Such a fantastic meal everything. It never disappoints.

Love this place
We had a lovely evening at Margot. First time and we will certainly come back. Highlight of the meal was the gnocchetti pasta and the roasted carrot soup. We also had the venison and duck sausage, which were very nice. The chocolate and banana mousse cake to finish off the evening was divine. A unique experience in Nashville if you would rather avoid the typical high-end white table cloth experience.
We always leave Margot saying that something we tried was the best we ever had. And because the menu changes daily, you’re always in for a new and unique experience. Do yourself a favor and bring a friend to share a few plates with!
