Reviews of Joyland Restaurant
Susan Herrera
Best burger I have had in a long time!
Despite having a severe food allergy, my needs were beautifully and thoughtfully accommodated. The joy burger and the crust burger both tasted amazing, even with the ingredients I couldn't include.
Highly recommend. Don't be intimidated by the long lines. They are long for a reason. Also take your time to have your meal. Each meal is made at the time of order, so it may take a minute when they are busy.

American, classic, tasty burgers. It reminds me of fast food but elevated. It’s a casual environment with indoor/outdoor seating and quick ordering or curbside service. Definitely glad we came here for lunch on our Somebody Feed Phil foodie journey.

Like many, we wanted to check this place out after seeing it on our favorite show Somebody Feed Phil. We really enjoyed it! Best gluten free buns I’ve ever had. Crust burger was totally worth coming for! So glad we got to experience Joyland! We wish we could have tried their GF joystick but their fried chicken has milk and we are dairy free as well so we couldn’t have it sadly. But we enjoyed everything we got!
Hannah Schobert
GET THE CRUSTBURGER!!! This burger was one of the best I’ve ever had. I am a big fan of smash burgers so keep that in mind! But the flavors are amazing and you can tell the beef is local and so rich. The curly fries and Hashbrown waffles are also very tasty as was the Chicago dog. The only thing we didn’t like was the Joystick. It is made out of local chicken thighs and it was just a tad too rich and fatty for our liking. It was a bit too juicy (I know that may sound crazy) for us so we wouldn’t get it again but we will definitely be returning for everything else!

Had heard this place and had to try the Crust Burger. I am typically a fan of rare burgers, but it was the perfect opposite end of the spectrum. I had the double Crust Burger with the hash brown waffles. It was delicious. I highly recommend giving this place a try. The sauce that comes with it and the ranch side sauce were pretty tasty. The hash brown waffle frie things were good too.
Natalie Young
Good burger spot! Great place to go if you want a quick meal. My cheeseburger and crinkle fries were delish. Everything came out hot which is key to a good cheeseburger and especially French fries.
Alan
A modern yet retro fast food place from Sean Brock. Got the crustburger combo meal, which uniquely comes with buns that are squished to a layer of 'crust'. The cheese and patty are also very squished, so the burger is very thin and all about the crispiness. As a result each bite is more dense, and it got a bit boring by the later bites since there wasn't anything else going on. The crinkle fries were perfect though: they were fresh with a lovely starchy inner like a baked potato and a crisp skin.

I'm not sure why Joyland has Amy negative reviews. You know what you're getting when you walk in. This is Sean Brock's casual restaurant. It's an elevated Cane's, small menu, focused on only a few things. I stopped in and ordered the chicken sandwich, which was amazing. I loved the quality of the ingredients they're using, as it's the same as Audrey. If I lived in Nashville I'd be in here all the time.
Jeff Miles
Great Chicken Sandwich! And...they have Gluten free sandwiches as well. My wife Loved her gluten free meal! The prices are a little high...but the service is good and the Taste is worth it.
Eddy Gann
First thing’s first… the food is quite delicious.
My problem is the cost for how much you get. I got the fried chicken sandwich meal, and it ran me nearly $20. It included a small handful of fries, and a small soft drink.
I’m torn… it tasted great, but it’s just such a steep price for what is essentially a small fast food meal.
Gerald Gabriel
Fun and inviting place to eat. They have a little funky vibe and a friendly staff.
The food was good and their gluten free fried chicken was great. They offer a waffle tot option in place of fries and that would be worth going back for in their own.
Shane Lemons
Had to try this out after the Tennessee State Museum, especially since it was shown in a Somebody Feed Phil episode. Very good taste and flavors in the burgers, but the thing I was most impressed with was the chicken sandwich that had a very unique pickle slaw on it. Great stuff. If you go there during a colder day, and it's at a specific eating hour (lunch or dinner), expect to wait in line and be a shark as you look for a place to sit and eat. On nice days you'll be able to use the outdoor seating which is pretty big.
Andrew Wright
This is a DAMN good burger. Sean Brock does it again…this is a classic American burger and I can’t get enough of it. Atmosphere is modern/retro blend and the staff was friendly and helpful. I had a great local beer the burger and fries. Can’t wait to visit again. Go try this burger!
Jessica Day
Our first time here and it did not disappoint. Love their chicken sandwich and crust burger. The curly fries was also a big hit! The shake was so good.
Brian Carnett
Ordered double crust burger with bacon no cheese
Bacon was very thick and tough, hard to chew. The bacon ruins the burger experience. It should be either crispy and break apart, or soft pull apart to be in a sandwich. The burger patty was okay, not seasoned. The bun was delicious.
The waffle fries were amazing, one of the best things I have ever eaten.
The regular fries were pretty good but nothing special.
I tried a bite of the chicken sandwich and it was good, but again nothing special.
I'm glad to support local business the sources food from local farmers, but the price is high for the flavors you get.
I recommend getting waffle fries and a beer here.
Naeim Torkian
The food was tasty and fresh. Good neighborhood and helpful employees but service was slow in general. Either order online ahead or make sure you have enough time to stay around.
Nicole Grobmyer
Good food at a good price. Has been seen on a few traveling shows. Good burgers. Soda machine tasted a little weak to me. Definitely not about the atmosphere but the food was a Home run

On a whim, I was driving by and saw that this was open around 7am, and there was parking available at a vacant lot across the street. I immediately pulled into it and ran inside to see what I could pick up on the way home. That's when I found their grab and go breakfast!
We got a bacon burrito and a sausage biscuit. When i got home to share and eat it, our minds were blown. It was amazing. The sausage looked like chorizo and the eggs were so cheesy that my girlfriend thought it was pimento cheese. Both items were only $7 each also! I got a couple of hash brown waffles and a coffee with it, which were both out of this world.
So we had to come back at the next opportunity. Lunch the next day we got a Crust burger and cheeseburger. I had to try the curly fries and new kind of burger to me. The copilot just loved their food too much and got what she already knew she loved.
The crust burger was like a smashed patty with a smashed burger, a few red onions thinly sliced, and the most amazing American cheese I can remember having.
The curly fries were the most perfect curly fries I've ever had. I am a huge fan of Jack in the Box curly fries, and these were a little bit better than those.
Walking in felt kinda like an old time-y diner with a modern twist. It was a pretty cool environment. It happened to be overloaded with unsupervised children that were wreaking havoc in the place.
Copilot:
Deliciously tasty burger however nothing remarkably better than jack browns or Hugh-baby's. Waffle Hashbrowns were so burnt the interior potato didn't exist and must not be a common option for a side for lunch. With that being said I would opt for a more convenient option (parking is a struggle) unless opting for the grab and go breakfast.
Matt F.
Joyland has a reputation that precedes it for a reason! The “crustburger” takes the smashburger and dunks on it! Think Shakeshack having a love child with White Castle. I ordered a fried chicken sandwich, crinkle fries, and a shake as well. The fries were crispy and the shake was creamy goodness. The chicken sandwich was my least favorite part of the meal. The breading reminded me of beer battered fish and in a city with its own namesake chicken you could find a more superb bird…but the burger is worth it!
Lisa Mayberry
So "joyful" that this place has all these gluten free options for people who normally wouldn't be able to eat typical fast food. The chicken wings were crispy and delicious. The crinkle fries were also yummy. There is also outside seating, but parking is street parking or pay at the lot behind it.
Sasha Rose
I was really excited to go here and try the gf chicken. The chicken wasn't bad. The ranch was really good. I also got a biscuit. It was 3$ and rock hard. I threw it away. My son's order was wrong but they were apologetic and fixed it quickly. It's a bit of a drive for me so not sure it's worth it to come again.
Robert Warren
First time eating here today and will definitely be back. The food was delicious and the staff was really friendly. I like the open airy feel inside and they had a really nice outdoor seating area. First time I've ever had chicken on a stick, they call it the Joystick LOL. Super delicious and best crinkle fries I've ever had!
-
Went on a food tour, went back because it was so good. The biscuits, whipped butter, and strawberry jam are off the charts. But the double cheeseburger and curly fries sealed the deal. Everything about Joyland makes me happy.
Ryan Mullen
This farm to table take on fast food does an amazing job at it. There burgers and chicken are delicious and definitely grab a chicken on the stick if available.
Rubin Reviews
4⭐️- will come back
It’s not cheap but you get what you pay for. An elevated krystal or white castle burger with premium quality beef. The joystick (chicken tenders) were unbelievably juicy. We also had the coffee custard shake which was good as well. I think it was better than David Chang’s moon palace in Las Vegas.
Cory Edwards
Went here after Somebody Feed Phil stopped here with Brad Paisley. It’s a good fast food spot. Try the unique crust burger and the hashbrown waffle fry.
Bill Meany
It was a little difficult to locate, and parking was limited. The food was quite good. We split a crustburger which is one of their signature burgers. Price was a little high, but not bad given the quality and flavor of our entre.
Taylor Duncan
Stop scrolling through reviews, this is where you’re going to eat. I can’t help you order. I got a double crustburger joyburger deluxe, crinkle cut fries, and a beer. It was $26 which seemed way steep but I’m halfway through eating it and stopped to write a 5-STAR review so others would know this place is it, so you be the judge.
Afreen Bhaidani
We went to Joyland after seeing it on Somebody Feed Phil. It was disappointing. We ordered a crust burger combo, Joyland burger combo, and a chicken on a stick. None of which we cared much for. The crust burger was salty and the chicken on a stick was bland.
Christopher “czar” Smith
I don't why this is a 4.1 rating. I've been here twice now and both experiences have been good. Chicken and burger were both excellent. Nice atmosphere, and both times I've went the dining room wasn't busy. This is a hidden gem in east Nashville
Anthony Bellomo
Heard about this place on Netflix's "somebody feed Phil" Nashville episode. The place lived up to its hype! The burgers here are excellent. They are similar to smash burger, but even better!
Ang Estrada
This place is super cute and we liked the food but it's pretty expensive for what it is. They were completely out of all chicken when we were there, which was unfortunate. The burgers don't come with lettuce and tomato and it's not even an option to get it, which is disappointing. The shakes are decent but are $6 for a pretty small cup. The curly fries are good and the outdoor seating area is nice. Overall, we paid $40 for 2 small, basic burgers, one order of fries and one shake but it was a convenient location that we could walk to, so it was worth it at the time but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to return. We really like the impossible burgers, but we like lettuce and tomato on our burgers, or at least the option to add them.

Absolutely amazing!!! A hidden gem in East Nashville! I've never been here before, but I have always heard great things... highly rated for sure! Very fun, clean, and customer friendly experience!
Joyland Deluxe, Double - Juicy burger with good flavor.
Crustburger, Single - Crusty, grilled bun and burger...has a patty melt feel. My fave!!!
Curly Fries - Good flavor, crispy.
Crinkle Fries - Crispy outside, fluffy inside, & GF! BEST crinkle fries I've had in a LONG TIME.
Fountain Drinyks - ONE SIZE, fun cups, free refills.
I'll be back, sooner than later, and a boozy shake is going to accompany my next Crustburger!
vicki whately
My 1st time going there, ordered the Deluxe hamburger combo. It was the best burger I ever had! Had the krinkle fries and fountain drink that is part of the combo. The food is made fresh when you order it. So awesome knowing that Sean Brock owns this place! Highly recommended it!!
Renee Taylor
I ordered the gluten free chicken sandwich with fries and it was absolutely delicious. Haven’t had a fried chicken sandwich in years because back home in Iowa they just don’t cater to us gluten free people. So I was very excited!!! My hubby ordered the double crushed burger and fries and he loved it!! I highly recommend this place it has great food and a bonus for us gluten free people!! Go try it!! 😋
Alyssa Janco
If you’re vegetarian, you MUST come try the impossible “chicken” nuggets. They are TO DIE FOR. I am so so happy to finally have good vegetarian nuggets. The other I’ve had have been disappointing but these taste just like the real thing. Definitely worth the money!
Yes, this place is more expensive than a typical fast food joint. But you’re getting a high quality product made with high quality ingredients. If that sounds good to you, I’d definitely recommend grabbing lunch here!
Lisa Ball
I visited this place as part of a food tour. I only tried a biscuit and blackberry jam but it was the best biscuit I’ve ever tried. Crispy on the outside but somehow still soft on the inside.
Buffy
Order two burgers and had to wait 40 minutes, even when it wasn’t busy. Crusty burger was delicious. The bun was beautiful.
Jacob Pawelczyk
Burgers are good! Not "I need to rush back to eat these again" good, but nonetheless a solid burger. We also had the curly fries and hash browns too, both solid!
My biggest beef (no pun intended) with Joyland would be the price of the meal. If either portions were 20% larger or prices 20% cheaper, this would be an easy 5 stars. But $15 for a small burger and a fistfull of fries is a hard bargain, especially in Nashville where that same $15 will get you much more food at many other local burger joints.
Steven Duran
Easily without question the best Fried Chicken sandwich I’ve ever had!
We drove from Chicago, IL to check out this restaurant after seeing Joyland featured on an episode of Netflix’s “Somebody Feed Phil.” Totally worth the trip 😇
The staff was very gracious and even comped us a burger after they missed an item on our original order. I very much recommend checking out this place if you’re in Nashville.
Daisy Marx
The line was crazy long, and it was super hot inside. The milkshakes were incredible. Super thick and full of flavor. We got a crust burger and chicken on a stick. The burger was very greasy and the chicken on a stick was kinda of bland. Wasn’t thrilled with this place, but I’d go back for the milkshakes.
murf durham
Yeah man! This place is legit. Of course I was unaware and saw it on the cringey Feed Phil show. We were going to southern Grist and wanted lunch. The joystick and crust burger with the waffle potato fry thing was ridiculous! Chocolate malt shake just to add some calories. Seriously, the joystick with chicken thighs instead of flavorless breast meat was one of my favorite bites in years! It's a bit overwhelming for the anxiety ridden as the line and how you get your food is its own style, but get over it and give it a shot. When you get your food, you won't care! Amazing flavor and quality ingredients.
Anna Kathryn Judd
Edit: the Smash burger is now the Crust(crushed?) Burger. It comes with cheese and red onion. We also got the chicken sandwich, crinkle fries and curly fries. I suggest adding the Joy sauce to the burger. All items were good!
Came here since Somebody Feed Phil had an episode here. Interesting visit...they didn't have the lunch menu on the screen when we were there (11:45am) so we pulled up their online menu. Wait in line for 5-10 min to order and come to find out their online menu is outdated and they have no clue what kind of burger I'm talking about. I couldn't understand the lady taking our order when she was explaining what burgers they do have. Who knows what I actually get 🤷♀️
Zac Driesen
I came across Joyland on a travel show before passing through Nashville. We ordered carry out via their website.
We were able to park in the adjacent paid lot that offered one hour free.
The to-go order was correct and on time. My only complaint is they didn't include napkins in the bag.
The three of us all got burgers and fries. We also shared their waffle hashbrown. To me, Joyland is an upscale take of the classic Steak N Shake. Their prices are a bit higher, but the food quality justified it. This is what fast food should be.
My last bit of advice? Don't sleep on the hashbrown waffle - it was fantastic.
Christopher Nichols
Messed up my order, but sometimes that just happens and there was a miscommunication, no big deal. Burger was great, curly fries were great, and it was a clean, simple experience. The staff was really friendly and communicative, and after the mistake were gracious about it, had my food out quickly, and the chocolate malt was fantastic as well.
Eileen Bennett
Line was long but food was worth the wait. We tried a shake, fries & both types of burgers. Loved all of it but especially the pumpkin turnover!! It was so warm & buttery and the bottom crispy with not too sweet yummy insides....mmmmm!
When we were leaving, we stopped & got 2 more for the road.
Parking was hard as was getting a seat inside as it was cold and windy outside (mid 30s) so were had to be vultures & snatched part of a table as they left.
Hunnys birthday was a cheeseburger delight!
jennifer baker
It was around 230pm when we went and there was a huge line due to a food tour but it was worth the wait! Out ofva family of 6, we ordered burgers, crustburgers, crinkle fries, curly fries, and the chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich beats ANY chicken sandwich in the Chicago-land area! This might be an annual stop on our way down south.
Ed Nichanian
Excellent burger. In & Out style only much tastier with better quality meat served medium as it should be!
Crispy crinkle fries. Prefer the JoyBurger Deluxe to the Crustburger as it is juicier. Get a double. They are that good!
Scott Trail
Gluten free fried chicken sandwich was great. So was the fries. My wife loved her burger too. Said it was one of the best that she's had.
Lauren Wilder
The impossible smash burger did not disappoint. Luckily I had read the reviews about the place being supper busy and customers not getting an adequate amount of fries. I was the only customer at the time so I got to talk to a manager about their reviews, he hooked me up. Best lunch.
Patrick Sinthavong
Sean Brock's brainchild did not disappoint as far as flavors go! Although it is a bit pricey to be a regular spot for a quick bite, I recommend giving it a try for you to decide for yourself. We ordered a pair of the joy burgers with cheese, chicken joystick seasoned with a limited time momofuku seasoning. Unfortunately, that flavor is no longer available. Also, we got the waffle and curly fries which were crunchy and seasoned perfectly.
Angus Bennion
So good, wish I lived closer so I could eat here more often. Some reviews make comparisons between Joyland and fast food places, complaining that Joyland is so much more expensive. When you use high quality ingredients in your food, it’s going to cost more. So yeah, if you want cheap garbage, go eat at MacDonald’s or BK. You’re eating quality food at Joyland.
Keshia Aliff (DeafStar)
Amazing burgers! I love the crust burger and the chicken on a stick! The hot honey and Joy Sauce is fire! The milkshakes are seriously THE BEST!!! 10/10 Never disappointed!
Sarah May
The crustless burger was amazing!! I had it with the waffle fries and it was the perfect combination of grease on grease with cheese and onions! I highly recommend this restaurant if you’re in the mood for comfort burgers! Best burger I’ve had, hands down!!
Josh Hynes
Burger was decent. Staff were pretty grim though and wish they cooked the fries in beef fat not seed oil. Faded menu board. Whole place felt a bit off, probably wouldn’t return. Hugh Baby’s is better.
Kendra K
This place needs more good reviews...So here’s one! Very first time here and I enjoyed all of my food. I ordered a pimento burger and the crinkle fries. It took about 15-20 minutes for my order to get done. After it was done they sent me a text and I called so that they would bring it out. Both people I interacted with were very friendly and straight to the point. The patio seating was great considering the nice weather today (68 degrees). I will say my burger was much smaller than I expected and it was smaller than the picture on the website but it didn’t lack flavor at all. My fries were still crunchy even after I sat and ate my burger first. I see some people complained about the price but 12 dollars for one burger, fries and a 20 percent tip that they deserve, I don’t see the issue. Although this probably isn’t a place I’d go for dinner because of the portion size, I would definitely be back for lunch again!
Anna
We were rolling through town and decided to grab food to go. Being that we knew we wouldn’t be back anytime soon we decided to indulge and try the deluxe burger, crust burger, fries, chicken on a stick and the biscuits! Everything we ordered was gluten free and extremely delicious with the perfect balance of flavor. Truly one of the best burgers I have ever had! It’s impressive how something as simple as delicious meat, cheese and onions can be so impressive! We had left overs and ended up eating them the next day cold and they were still so delicious! I wish we lived closer to frequent this gem!
Unfortunately I only took one picture because of being so hungry when we picked up the food
Karin Balsley
Best plant-based burger I've ever had. I've heard the regular burgers and milkshakes are the real deal too. Hope they will start making vegan milkshakes.
Yen C
We came by for dinner after seeing it featured on somebody feed Phil. The food lived up to the hype and we enjoyed it, but the heavy metal playing was excessively loud and explicit. Not the best place. I think someone finally complained and a staff member went and changed the music eventually....
Mayu Fraser
It was late night so the music was probably not what you'd hear during the day (nor should you), the crust burger was good, fries cold and joystick huge. The shakes were on point and worth a return visit.
steve Steflik
My wife got the GF fried chicken sandwich and enjoyed it. I had the regular fried chicken sandwich and it was very good. The chicken had a slightly spicy taste which was quite good.
Jerome Campbell
I came 2 days in a row and got the double crust burgers, dam good burgers, I also tried the chicken on the stick. This place is definitely for burger lovers...a must try spot!!
Clare Curcio
The food was good, but not what we thought it would be based on Phil's rantings & ravings. My crusty burger was not crusty; it was soggy. The fries were good.
Joi MK
Food was OUT OF THIS WORLD! A bit of a long wait (they were just featured on a Netflix show this week) but everyone was so apologetic & kind that it didn’t feel like you were being ignored. If you eat GF, they make it really easy with a GF list right at the register. This place is a must visit on a trip to Nashville.
J K
Overall, this place is kinda AWESOME. The only downside was the malt shake which wasn’t very malty (3/5). The burgers we ordered (an impossible and a cheeseburger) were both incredible (5/5). I never thought I’d say this, but the waffle fries (5/5), really outshined the curly fries (4/5). The seasoning on the waffle fries was out of this world. And the chicken biscuit with the hot honey? Also incredible (6 out of 5.. honestly). The employee who delivered our curbside was extremely friendly, and the food was packaged well. We’ll be back for sure.
Krystyne McComb
My husband and I agreed that the cheese burger was a bit too salty. Liked the sauce and bun, but somewhere along the way they dumped a bit too much on it. Liked the curly fries. Waffle fries were okay. Seasonal chicken joy stick wasn't really our cup of tea but I'd get why people would like it. I gave it 3 because the strawberry hand pie won me over! Would go back just for that.
Vicki DeLay
Best fried chicken sandwich I've ever had!!!
Sara Jacobs
Friend told me about this place. Ordered pick up the other night and it was seriously a burger like no other! Soooooooo good! Huey Baby's and Pharmacy were my go to burger joints out East and now it's all about Joyland!! I tried the Impossible and the Joyland Deluxe.
J B
Gluten free chicken and crust burger. Dang it's legit! Worth the wait! Made to order folks so just chill.
Amy Tessin
Delicious burger and fries. While I don't understand the appeal of the crustburger, everything else was great. Be prepared to wait.
Samuel Edmondson
The fried chicken biscuit was my favorite of everything I got. The joyburger with cheese was decent. The curly fries were solid. The chicken on a stick was just okay. All of it was overpriced.
Raul Martinez
Smash burgers at their finest, great burgers down to earth service. Really enjoyed. I would go back in a heart beat and plan to go back next time in Memphis!
--
Burgers and fries are great. Super tasty. Their gluten-free bun is one of the best I have found. I usually forget that it is gluten-free while I’m eating it. Biggest gripe would be the portion size. Considering the price, everything is just small. Outdoor seating is nice, the inside has kinda a weird vibe. I never even consider sitting inside, but the patio is good.
Drew Galloway
Amazing burger! Only downside was $16 for small burger small side of fries and drink.
Kyle Davis
The absolute best “fast food” I’ve ever had in my life. Delicious, inventive, made with love. I will detour for Joyland over and over.
Sherissa Hanrion
This used to be our favorite place! We came from out of town, and their chicken on a stick is no longer on the menu 🙁 super bummed! But we got burgers and they were delicous! Curly fries are amazing here! The girl taking orders was rude and could not be bothered to greet or take orders. I left and ordered take-out on my phone. I went back in to pick it up and a kitchen staff member looked at the hostess ignoring me and came and grabbed my order for me. Highly recommend curbside so at least you don’t have to deal with attitude.
Michael Valesky
Top 3 biscuits in Nashville. Amazing chicken biscuit drizzled w honey sauce. 🍯 🔥 and the hashbrowns 🤤👅💙 it's a no brainer! …
Patrick Conwell
Definitely one of the best burgers in town. We tried several different burgers and the crustburger was our favorite. The wait was 45+ minutes and they left an item off our order, but things happen - I don't hold that against them. Highly recommended.
UPDATE: we've been several times since and the wait has never been more than 10 minutes, and we haven't had any issues with our order. Our first visit must have been a fluke. Still one of the best burgers in town.
Asha Krish
The crust burger. The BEST burger I have ever had. Unbelievable. The chicago dog is also very yummy.
Kyle Brogdon
Delicious, fresh burgers and fries. Waaaaaaay overpriced. $14 for a small burger combo with less than 20 fries. Just as good of a burger for almost half the price and Hugh Baby’s.
Katrina Harvey
We ended up here after a last-minute change of plans...and we're so happy we did! We really enjoyed the waffle-style hashbrowns. The crew was so pleasant.
Michelle Mule
Omg!!!!!! Omg!!!! If you have Celiacs Disease & miss fried chicken like I do, then run, don’t walk to Joyland! Hands down the best gluten-free fried chicken I have ever had in my life. Amazing staff, dedicated gluten-free fryers & amazing gluten-free waffle hash browns.
I wish there was one in Connecticut but I’ll be back anytime I’m in Nashville! Thank you for an amazing experience. ❤️
Crypto_Chef
Amazing burgers, Fries needed some salt but besides that friendly staff. We’ll return!
Mark Kaiser
Good fast food, but it's pretty expensive and there are some limitations with the menu. They also screwed up my order first time, and luckily I caught it but I had to wait longer while they made what they missed. I would almost always pick Hugh Baby's or Shake Shack over it, but I'd still return if I was nearby and hungry.
Nicole Burch
Great food, reasonably priced, with a retro 90's feel. The employees were friendly and helpful. We will definitely be coming back.
Peder Schacht
The coffee shake and chocolate malt shake are fantastic. The crustburger is delicious.
Cassidy Fazio
Joyland is one of my go-to places but now I’m grossed out after finding 2 hairs in my burger. There was no way to add feedback on my order, so posting here.
Carrie Hogan-Mays
Great food and staff was nice but, order was missing items and every sandwich wasn’t made the way ordered. Left phone message and 24hours later still no call back. 😢
christopher rambo
I don't recall anything special about the atmosphere, that the Burger was good especially late night.
Ethan Malcolm
Alright food and drink, nice staff with a perfect atmosphere and the location is great. Parking is a hassle so you need to park either along one of the side streets or next door.
jacob schoeff
I’m not usually one to post reviews publicly, but rather to enjoy, or not enjoy, my food and to express that feeling with others purely by word of mouth. That being said, I felt compelled to write a review following my experience at Joyland after noticing its misleading and misguided reviews. The deluxe burger (#1) combo is exactly what it should be: simple done right. It’s an atmosphere and culinary style that pays homage to your favorite old school fast food burger joint, and pleases the palette with perfect execution rather than distracting by means of fancy ingredients. The attention to detail: toasted buns, perfect crust on a smash burger seasoned only with salt, red onions that have been soaked in water to cut their bite yet retain flavor, classic American cheese, and a mustard/mayonnaise based burger sauce, is deliberate from start to finish. Don’t be fooled by the others. Do yourself a favor and get the #1 combo with a Joyland Lager, and I promise you will be greeted with a meal that is everything that you want, and is exactly what it should be. Bravo, Sean.
P.S. the burgers are “expensive” because they use locally sourced, sustainable meat.
Andrei Dumitrescu
We ordered takeout, and it was done right on time. However the burgers were well overcooked and crispy when they shouldn't have been. The chicken sandwich was amazing. And I wish they had a quick parking spot out front for pickup. Not easy to get in and just grab food to go.
Ashley Campbell
Best fast casual grub we've ever had. We were only in Nash for a couple days and ate here twice. Huge fans of Chef Sean Brock & we were grateful to experience his food. The vibe is great, staff is excellent, and I appreciate the attention to detail.
Anna Louis
Good option for late night quick food of decent quality, just wish the cost was a bit cheaper!
Blyx Silver
We drove over an hour to eat here, and we weren't disappointed. We came for the gluten free biscuits, but unfortunately they were out. However, my gluten free kids got to eat burgers with crinkle fries AND breaded chicken wings, and their dad literally started to tear up when he tasted his burger, it was so good! We will definitely be back, earlier in the day next time so we don't miss the biscuits! Thanks, Joyland, for the gluten free options; it means so much to people like us to be able to eat great food. And I love the outdoor seating so we can feel safe during COVID!
Beth Duprez
The Staff is Great, Friendly, Polite. Convenient location if you are going to the Basement East or the Honeybee Meadery which are within walking distance. HOWEVER, $14.95 for a plain cheeseburger is overpriced to say the least, I realize this is downtown Nashville, but I can get much better food for a much better price on Broadway. Just be prepared to pay $$$ if you choose to eat here.
Cody and Bri Amann
Absolutely incredible place! We just discovered this place due to our son’s celiac disease and have been back multiple times with additional orders to go because it’s so delicious. We are obsessed!
William Cooper
This is much better than a 4.1 out of 5...I'd say more like 4.6. Very clean and fantastic service, I had the pimento cheese burger and was impressed. It is definition fast food, but much better quality of ingredients. I'd say its similar to Hugh Baby's in town, with a slight spin that feels more like an In' n Out. Give this a try, don't let the rating fool you.
cocoatrip
Gluten Free fried chicken is amazing sandwiches were hot fresh and the piece of chicken was huge!!!
Nolan McNamee
Love love love this place. Delicious burgers, chicken, fries, shakes. And everything can be made gluten free which is pretty hard to find with this sort of food, especially fried chicken!
My favorite is their burger. If you’re hungry get the double! Their burgers are perfect combo of crispy outside, juicy inside. I don’t know what they put on their fries but they have a unique taste that I love as well.
Is it pricey? Yes, for the type of food I’d say it is. But it’s worth it to me.
I’ve brought multiple friends and family here and they always have liked it too.
Also some of y’all really need to learn review etiquette. Rating a restaurant 1 or 2 stars because you didn’t love their fries is all kinds of messed up.
Tom
Good food, but waitress seemed like she did NOT want to be there and the homeless and panhandlers lurking about outside was definitely offputting if not downright scary.
Chris Murdock
The burger was amazing! The peach shake was a guilty pleasure that should be enjoyed by everyone!
Noelle Knutson
Great burger, perfectly cooked crinkle fries. Love the neighborhood as well. It's loud inside, so sit on the patio if you'd like it more peaceful.
Christopher Day
Smells like childhood memories of McDonald's, tastes soooo much better! Tried just about everything on the menu, love it all!! Curbside pick up and eat on the deck!
Connor Burgess
The food was decent. Extremely over-priced for the serving size and quality of food. I feel as if I paid $14 for a McDonald’s kids meal. Maybe I was over-hyped on this place as I heard rave reviews, but this experience definitely didn’t live up to the hype.
Ben Blanton
Amazing fast food, helpful and courteous staff - you owe it to yourself to try the bourbon milkshake. Burger was top notch, fries were crispy and fluffy, and the fried wings were a great shared side. We'll definitely be back.
Lee Willis
Great burgers, small place, big bites.
T Salem
One of the best Hamburgers in Nashville. If you are on the East Side then definately try this place out. I hear they have good shakes too but thats too much sugar for me. lol. The fries are good too.
Mary Hill
Sean Brock can do no wrong! The food is very well priced and incredible! Make sure you get the crust burger (add pickles), chicken on a stick, curly fries, and a malt shake!
You can park around back for free for one hour and the food comes out super quickly. I love the light and airy decor along with the friendly staff! We have been here multiple times since opening and never disappointed.
Mari Martinez
I hadn't had a gluten free chicken sandwich in 12 years. This was so good! I tried to keep it together just cuz I was having a chicken sandwich. Haha!
Martin McCool
Very good! The burger meat is delicious and the fries are perfect!
Phil Wingo
Great food
Had breakfast, but wish we could have had cheese burgers
#porkmafia
Emily Friedman
we love it here! the crust burger was all the best parts about a regular burger, combined into one sandwich. we had trouble deciding what to get because the menu all looks dope, and they (the owner maybe?) surprised us by giving us all the dips and fries for free so we could try them all. the miso-based ranch and joy sauce were our favorites! everything was perfect. will definitely come back!
Sean Werner
Absolutely excellent! The fried chicken sandwich was amazing, and we loved the burger! We also appreciated how many of those red corn chips were in the actual bag! Usually, half the chip bag (lay, tostitos, etc.) is just air, but this one was packed full of chips! They were delicious! Sean Brock is the best! Everyone had masks on and brought our food out to us curbside. Will be back!
Christian Japlit
I’ve tried a bunch of things from Joyland and everything has been on point. Chicken biscuit, sausage biscuit, joystick, waffle fries, curly fries, chicken sandwich, burger, and special edition burgers...it all hits right. Stop fooling around and get over here!!
Chelsea Gieselmann
Sean Brock has knocked this place out of the park. Super good food and amazing atmosphere.
Cortney Prather
Burgers were good. A bit pricey for the size of the burger. Curly fries were only warm and didn't seem fresh. The chicken sandwich was $11 by itself. For 1 kids burger w/ fries, 2 joyland burgers w/ fries and a chicken sandwich, I paid $55+. Not sure I'll be going back
Emily
The food itself was great, but the prices were a little ridiculous and are going to keep us from coming back. $50 total for burger, fries, milkshake for two people. I don't mind paying for expensive food at all if it is difficult to prepare but in my opinion, these are burgers and fries which cost very little to make. In addition to the high food prices, a mandatory 15% fee for the employees was added to the bill saying it was for "employee benefits"(was not described as a tip)...which is great that they are offering their employees benefits, but why am -I- paying an extra fee for your employees' benefits instead of the business itself taking care of its employees? Kind of silly, because it gives off an impression as if a company is saying "I treat my employees better than other restaurants! Actually, can you take care of them for me because I don't want to pay for it." As far as the food goes, it was very good! Similar taste to an elevated fast food joint. We did the curbside pickup and they were very quick and polite, no issues with our order. Wish the prices were more reasonable for a burger restaurant, or else we'd be back again!
Abbey Sullivan
5 stars always excited to dine again. I don’t like hamburgers and I would eat a Joyburger every night. Don’t sleep on the crinkle fries. We absolutely love Joyland and feel lucky Chef Brock chose Nashville as the home for this gem.
Brad Williams
If I lived in Nashville I’d eat here all the time. Burger was amazing! Even met Sean Brock when I was there. Very humble and accommodating guy.
Dana Abernathy
I have been here several times and my fav is the Joyland Deluxe burger w/ crinkle fries. I have had the breakfast items…which are great also, but…that burger! Okay..it’s more costly than a fast food, but the reviewers comparing this place to McD’s are really missing the point.
Local and small family owned businesses supply the ingredients that set this place a part. Then…do we even need to mention the mastermind behind Joyland…Sean Brock? Okay, so try it..everyone has a threshold, but this is in our regular rotation…. Love it
Evan Coley
It was fine.
But the quantity relative to the price at a burger place was kind of a letdown. I liked the joy sauce on the burger a lot and the chicken on stick. But the amount of fries was lacking considering you pay for them as a side. If you go to five guys, etc, where they do that, you get an enormous amount of fries. The overall quality wasn’t THAT much higher than other places to warrant a significantly higher price.
To be fair, ordering it to go probably resulted in cold fries and jimmy corn crackers. But I ended up paying well over $75 for a meal for 3.5 and it is just burgers fries and shakes.
Kai
Yeah....this place is nuts, lived up to the hype.
Classic burger and the chicken biscuit was great, milkshake was bonkers.
Get honey honey everything haha.
And try the chicken on a stick
If this expands, it would easily demolish the Shake Shack vs In-N-Out debate.
Jason Candido
Really tasty elevated fast food. The Burgers are great
Sam Neff
Was pretty tasty. Corndog had a tad too much batter, but the burger was outstanding! Fries were tasty but indistinguishable from Arby's curly fries. Really excited about the Jimmy Red Cornbread mix (to go with my Jimmy Red Corn Bourbon)!
Matthew Tyndall
The burgers are good, but the fried chicken sandwich is to die for. I especially like that the pickle slaw is subtly applied so it doesn’t overpower the chicken. Most places flood the sandwich.
They used to have a giant chicken tender on a stick with some kind of bacon sugar. It was great, but no longer exists.
They also change the style of fry often. Been through 3 styles within a year. Bring back waffle fries. The krinkle have been hit or miss.
IWD Marketing
Delicious! Must try the crust burger and chicken thighs on a stick.
chelsea raines
Best smash burger I've ever had. Love you, sean brock.
Paul Baxter
Good food
Stephanie Von Ahnen
Update: I emailed them my experience with the milkshake so they could fix an error/other patrons wouldn't have frozen shakes. Turns out they were premaking the shakes to expedite pick up and would put them in their freezer. They didn't realize that they were not drinkable upon pick up/when thawed.
I tried them out again today and the chocolate shake was drinkable and delicious! And what better way to enjoy a shake than with some curly fries?
Don't know if I can justify the price tag all the time for the sizing. But definitely a delicious treat!
--
Haven't yet tried their burgers, sticks, or fries, but the milkshakes, well they are not going to be my first choice.
Ordered a vanilla milkshake and ended up getting ice cream pretty much straight out of the freezer. 30 mins later and I'm still waiting for it to thaw.
Very disappointed.
They have an easy pick up system and place your items on your windshield or in your trunk for distancing purposes after you call to notify you are there.
Lindsay C
I treat myself by coming here. Loving the food. I get something different every time I come here and have yet to be disappointed. So far my favorite things are the delicious juicy and flavorful chicken wings, the chicken sandwich and the the chocolate malt. Also, their ranch sauce is delicious. Can't wait to come back! Thank you
Rick Petri
THE casual spot for bite or meal. The Joystick (chicken on a stick) is a must of you're looking for a bite and burgers are fresh and delicious. Can't wait to come back and try their shakes.
Jacqui Grossman
Awesome chicken sandwich. Awesome crust burger. Equally awesome pimento crust burger. Great staff also
Alex Bohan
I really enjoyed this place. The joyland deluxe burger and curly fries were excellent. The only thing that kind of got me was the price, but while I felt it was a little expensive, it certainly didn't take away from the quality. I'll definutely return.
Jay Morgan
Prices are a bit high, especially on a can of beer (WTH!?!?) but the burgers are legitimately good if you're into that style.
Meredith Boggess
Waited in line for an hour but the crust burger was delicious 😋 …
B Carter
Biscuit quality reminded me of my childhood visiting my Grandparents in Reliance TN. My Grandmother made the best biscuits I had ever tasted. These brought me back there so I cannot pay a higher complement. The Fried Chicken was a perfect light consistency and the country ham was pleasantly tender. 5 stars may not be enough to measure my satisfaction.
Shannon Beloate
Hot and fresh .great crinkle frys and chicken sandwich really good.nice rock music
nspanic
Value 3/5
Taste 5/5
To go service 5/5
CRUNCHY THICK CUT FRIES and the best chicken sandwich or biscuit you’ve ever tasted! Add in the sweet potato pastry and you’re locked and loaded for incredible meal!! Portions aren’t large so order accordingly
Joshua Squires
First the good:
Sean Brock has made a tasty burger that is shamelessly greasy, cheesy, saucy and delicious. The fries are perfect clones of their popular fast-food franchise forebears (the curly fries conjure visions of childhood trips to Arby's).
Also, they're running this thing at arguably one of the worst possible times to be running a restaurant - and they are doing a great job.
Now the criticism (well-intentioned and without malice) :
It's expensive. Like, more expensive than shake shack, which is perhaps the closest available comparison.
I don't think it's the best burger in East Nashville Don't get me wrong, it's very good and worth trying. Perhaps it's just that I expected more from a burger with Brock's name on it. I expected something like Chicago's Au Cheval and what I got was an alternative to Shake Sack.
Here's the thing though : they are a new restaurant opening in unusual and challenging times. They're worth a try and despite my own criticism, I'll likely be back.
Warren Long
Great chicken sandwich. Daughters favorite burger.
Madison H. Knowe
The most incredible comfort burger and fries out there, but I'd go every day of the week just for the corndog. So good! Go now. Don't hesitate. And get the milkshake while you're at it.
Taylor Peinhardt
Love this place and the food! I am commenting tonight because of how hard the staff is working to meet the needs of a giant crowd. Especially the counter service from Ben. Absolutely awesome. Please give him a raise.
Bernard Chelgren
Melt in your mouth burger, friendly service, easy pickup. Recommend the Pimento Cheeseburger and the Maple Mustard for your fry sauce. Freshly moved in from MN, Joyland is my new fave burger from Nashville!
Chris Ellington
The burgers were pretty good, but the chicken is the real winner here. The joysticks are the best, juiciest chicken I've ever had. Simply amazing and worth every penny!!
Magnetic Sound Studio
The burgers are always incredible. Love the taste of the locally sourced beef. Incredible shakes as well. The fries can be hit or miss.
Bryan Lewis
Everything was ok. The burger was only grilled on one side, so that seemed odd. Way too many pickles. Maybe 8-10 on my burger? Too many. Blew out the rest of the burger. Loved the hashbrowns. Great curly fries.
Nicholas Platt
The food was great and the service was great. Giving four stars because they mislabeled my wife's biscuit as gluten free and it wasn't. She ended up eating it and since she has celiac, she's now going to be sick. I let them know and they were apologetic. They refunded part of my meal. In all actuality I felt that a full refund should have been in order seeing as how we drove 45 minutes to come up to go here specifically for their gluten free biscuits so we were out the time, gas, and my wife's health because of one error. It happens and they did something to fix it but I think that if a restaurant bills themselves as a place with gluten free food, standards of excellence should be paramount because people suffer when they mess up. Add that to the fact that my wife is having a gastro procedure done Monday and now we aren't sure if this error is gonna cause that to have to be rescheduled. One error may not seem like a lot in the grand scheme, but for someone that has Celiac it can cause several dominoes to fall that just aren't worth it. Wish we had just stayed home.
Daniel Fleisher
I thought that the chocolate malt milkshake was amazing! I had the crustburger and it was really good too. Although I did think the fries weren't the best. Over all I thought that this was a pretty good experience.
Matthew Clements
I think this is my favorite burger and fry joint ever. Sean Brock does an incredible job with this new concept. Everything from the burgers to the chicken on a stick is done perfectly. Great comfort food. Executed perfectly every time!
Steph Shaw
A grown-up version of a McDonald's w better food and beer.
Jesse L
Incredible biscuits, both regular and gluten free. Tastes fresh and makes a perfect meal, not giant where you can’t eat for hours. Can’t wait for them to open the inside - looks great. Patio is open for eating if you have already ordered online.
Conrad Johnson
Ordered and picked up from Joyland on my sons suggestion. We had the fried chicken sandwich with pickle coleslaw. Man it was good cooked to perfection and every bite a treat. Sean Brock has a winner here just hope the covid goes away.
Jessica Mayberry
It was really good, the crust burger was the best.
Justin Shepherd
Joyland continues to be outstanding! They have provided excellent and safe service throughout the pandemic. The food quality is outstanding and the number of gluten free offerings is just incredible. Try it all, really.
janelle beasley
Crust burger? Whatever it is was very Underwhelming. Even at 1am.. the curly fries are good though.
Amy Kammerman
So friendly and such delicious chicken. Fried joystick is delish. Large serving and fried to perfection but not too bready. One of our faves in East Nashville!
Rachel Seel
We had an issue with post mates and the order was cancelled about the time Joy Land was closing. I called and spoke with the manager and they were kind enough to remake our food even though the issue was not on their end. Great customer service and delicious food!!
shavonne manson
My Favorite Go To spots!!! Love everything about this place. Cool atmosphere, customer service, The Menu!!! and Beer. The patio seating is very nice and artsy. Be sure to get the Chicken sandwich.
Michelle Gonzalez
Amazing first time experience! Had their Crustburger.. So good! Tried out the boozy shake loved it 😊 overall great first time
Amber Rinck Sannan
I’ve been four times in 3 weeks. I can’t decide what I like best because it’s all soooooo good!! Today I am leaning towards the honey chicken biscuit being my favorite. Also, without a doubt my favorite shake in town! I’ve had both the thing mint and the malt- unreal!!! They are doing an incredible job opening in the midst of Corona, they really have it down pat!!!
Walter Koczot
Friendly staff and great burgers and fries. Unique menu including spiked milkshakes. Have to go back to try more on the menu.
Paul McLeod
No idea why this isn't more than 4.1 stars. One of the best burgers I've ever had.
Kate Davis
PURE JOY from Joyland!! Recently I was feeling down and ordered a little pick me up via Postmates. Everything came in perfect condition and was sooo tasty. The Jimmy Red Corndog is by far the best corndog on the planet. The dipstick and waffle fries were heavenly and the coffee milkshake is beyond. A+ to Sean and the team!!! Can't wait to be able to eat in the restaurant someday but until then you guys are making it happen and keeping everyone safe! THANK YOU THANK YOU!
Josh Pritchard
The biscuits are ridiculous... only available on weekends
Jennifer Merkel
Sean Brock nailed it with Joyland. It was delicious. The bourbon milkshake was fantastic & the chicken sandwich with pickle slaw was absolutely delicious.
Aaliyah Tiyanna
Very Clean Restaurant With Good Food , Wide Variety Of Options, Real Beef Burgers,Gluten-free Buns,Veggie Burgers(Impossibile Burgers), Joysticks Are The Bomb 🤌🏽 & The Delicious Fries 😩 Even Have A Option For Gluten Free Fries.Great Place! …
Ladd Dental
Great food and people.. Glad we made the stop!
Shelly Riera
Delicious!!! Biscuits are flaky and buttery, and the chicken stick is out of this world. Can't wait to try the burger :) Another Sean Brock delight, and glad he's chosen Nashville to keep cookin'!
Rachel Carr
A little steep on pricing for what seems and tastes like an average fried chicken sandwich, burger, and fries. They are constantly out of biscuits, but highly recommend the Joystick.
E Evans
EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS PLACE WAS GREAT! THE STAFF WAS VERY NICE, FRIENDLY & WELCOMING. WE ARE FROM CLEVELAND & JUST VISITING FOR THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND & MY HUBBY & KIDS WERE VERY SATISFIED WITH THEIR FIRST RESTAURANT OUT IN NASHVILLE!! GREAT PLACE TO SIT CHILL & EAT!!
Mary Sanderlin Robinson
The biscuits and chicken are the best in Nashville. You have two option for biscuit, regular and gluten free. Both are amazing, better than home made.
Abhishek J
I’ve had like their entire menu to date and this place consistently delivers.
James Suh
If i were rating Joyland based on its impact to my waistline, it would be a solid 1 star restaurant. Covid-15 is a thing and Joyland may upgrade that to Covid-30. We live deep in the West Side but still make several trips to East Nasty for the food. There is something special about the biscuits but the burgers and shake are always top of mind.
edward ro
It’s like an upscale McDonald’s. Ordered the kids deluxe meal and shake which was actually enough food for an adult.
Cynthia Shahan
Best burger in East Nashville hands down! Their fried chicken sandwich is amazing too! So grateful to have them in our neighborhood!
Sarah Lambert
Staff was friendly. Food lived up to Phil’s recommendation!
Daniel Purdom
Only carryout for now. Great biscuit for breakfast.
Kiera Loveless
Ordered for the first time (delivery) and everything was delicious! Everything was still warm, tasted so yummy + it was pretty affordable. Would definitely recommend!
Matthew McDonald
Got to love a hot, crusty corn ween. Hand pies, chicken stick and nilla malt were all slayer, too. Everyone was really nice. Big fat recommend.
Joe Minter
Amazingly thin and lacy smashburgers. A treat.
noah Martinez
Best fried chicken sandwich in Nashville.

Awesome and delicious food, expensive though

Maggie Brewer
Good smash burger. Service and cleanliness a bit lacking.
Robert Pope
If you want a really great cheese burger this is the place...
Garry Adams
Burger was great but I must tip my hat to the Chicken sandwich. It was fantastic!
Katie Coble
The chicken sandwich is TO DIE FOR! It’s a wee bit overpriced and I do wish they had more options for sides, but this definitely fulfilled my cravings.
Ally Chitwood
Impossible burger was DELICIOUS. And I loved the aesthetics. And curbside pickup was very easy.
Grant Salter
Burgers and Fries were amazing, I wouldn't expect anything less from Sean Brock.

The crust burger is a fast lane to a heart attack. Really tasty, but overall too expensive for the quality and portions. Worth trying once and that’s it
Melissa Cox
Great service and burgers.
Haley Durham
4 stars only because I miss having a place my vegetarian friends could go since they took away impossible nuggets. I'd eat them too, and I'm not even vegetarian! Bring em back!! Great place to eat otherwise. I love their boozy malt shakes too. Tastes just as good without the booze if it's not the vibe. Open later than some, so it's a great place to head for a last min casual late dinner with friends or one stop for a a very casual date. Then you can walk to up down for more fun.
thomas rossi
It was great food.
Marty Taggart
I was expecting much better food then I received. Also for my side with my crust Burger, I ordered the hash browns i.e. waffle fries I received two pieces.
CL Parks
I knew what I wanted until I got to the counter, and the server didn't rush me at all. I am glad I changed my mind. The chicken thighs on a stick are delicious, even without the sauce.
I wish my stomach was bigger.
Michael Penrod
Only one large table inside. Plenty of seating for two to four. Smash burger was really good. Had a very chocolate shake. Kinda on the small side but delicious. Chicken on a stick was good in an interesting way. We're still debating that one.
Kayla Rivenbark
Had the gluten free fried chicken sandwich and it was so good we went back a second time during our trip
Lissy L.B.
The food is amazing. Had the deluxe combo and it was juicy and tasted perfect. Totally recommended this place for dine-in or take it

Burgers were great and I got to meet the actress who works there and played the main character on the movie "Wednesday ".
If that is not her, she sure could pose as her double.
Would go there again and highly recommend!!!
