Reviews of Elliston Place Soda Shop
Lee Hastings
Stopped here for dinner on a Wednesday night and found out trivia started at 7:00. Fun atmosphere, good menu with breakfast all day, and great ice cream and desserts. The clientele was 85% college kids from Vanderbilt and all of them had smiles on their faces and looked like they were having a great time. Definitely save room for ice cream.

The restaurant is done up nicely to represent the older days of dining in a soda shop.
The service is warm and friendly.
The food is ok yet I wouldn't go out of my way to dine here again. The fried green tomatoes are greasy, tangy and tasteless. They need more seasonings.
The three egg omelette was not to be desired. A three egg omelette should be fluffy and it was flat. The biscuits was heaven and dense, not fluffy and flaky.

Can't believe I never made it here the 9 years I lived in Nashville! My BIG mistake! Such nice people, incredible hand made shakes, sadly, we had the last of the Zingers (phosphates soda), since the server said they don't sell enough & so they are discontinuing it. Since 1939. How can you go wrong with a place that not only survived, but, THRIVED that long in NASHVILLE! This isn't an easy city to please! With ever changing neighborhoods, a plethora of delicious food from all kinds of cultures, Ellison Place has always been a staple. We will DEFINITELY be back on our next trip! So many more things to try there! Love the walk up window! Love all the smiles from the staff!

What a cute place! A true ice cream soda shop. The decor was amazing. The service was excellent. Everyone was so friendly. The menu was "comfort food". There was a little mix up in what I ordered and what I got but they immediately made it right...with a smile. We got the fried chicken and the pot roast. Both were good. We were too full to order dessert but wanted to try the boozy shakes... milkshakes with alcohol! This place had something for everyone. They even had a gift shop section.

First visit here. Christmas decor was still up, but it added to the ambiance. Very busy on a weekday for lunch when we came in, but we were seated right away. Quick service. Lunch fare was very traditional American, but tasty and reasonably priced. The best part is definitely the shakes and sweet treats. Many milkshake flavors. I had the dreamsicle, very tasty. The sundaes looked to be very generous portions.

I ordered the meat and 3. The turkey and dressing was absolutely delicious! The turnip greens were tender and very good. The mashed potatoes were excellent but very small portion size. I would say I had maybe 3 tablespoons of potatoes with a big crater in the middle for the gravy. I did not care for the flavor of the brown gravy, it had a bad/rancid aftertaste for some reason so I poured it off. The squash casserole was pretty good also, not what I expected and more like a sweet corn pudding with squash in it but it was good and the portion was double that of the mashed potatoes. The only thing I did not like was the biscuit, too greasy and tough but that is my personal opinion, I like my biscuits soft and fluffy and not soaked in fat. My husband had the burger and did not care for it at all, he said it tasted like a frozen patty, but said the bun was good. Overall I enjoyed the food and the service was friendly although a bit slow since it was so busy. It is a very very loud environment and quite chaotic. Cool retro decor and I would return, perhaps on a weekday at a less busy hour.

This place was absolutely wonderful!!! The food was so delicious. I love the old soda shop decor and theme. You can get breakfast, burgers or home cooking. We will definitely be going back!

Had a good experience here! The staff was very kind and personable. It kind of had that “Luke’s Diner” from Gilmore Girls sort of vibe. The Nashville hot chicken sandwich was amazing and super filling. It was a little more pricy than I anticipated, but hey, it’s Nashville.
Eddie Davis
Excellent, but there are better meat and threes if that’s what you’re after! (Arnold’s) We went with the intention to try some more “soda shop” selections but once we looked at the menu we had to try some meat and three options. They were great! I had Turkey & Dressing and my sis had the chicken and dumplings. Both we’re very good. For sides we had turnip greens, mashed potatoes and gravy, and green beans. All fantastic. We topped it off with milkshakes to-go which were also fantastic. I look forward to going back to try a burger or something more traditional to soda shops.

Great food great atmosphere. All staff very friendly and made u feel welcomed. Tried ther Nashville Hot chicken sandwich.. awesome!!! Good heat with great flavor. The bushwacker milkshake was a naughty treat. The coconut cream pie was out of this world. You can definitely say that this is good pie.(Men in Black reference)

Came here with my son and best friend after being in the hospital and seeing really good reviews when deciding to get something to eat. The atmosphere is relaxing and has the old school cafe set up of a 50's diner. The music selection was great and the food taste amazing. I had the Patty melt woth fries and squash casserole and it all tasted really good. The shakes are really good too. I was surprised that they had meat and two or three.I definitely look forward to coming back here again.

Tried this cute diner for the first time. Everything about here was great. Holly was our server and she was fantastic. The whole place was so clean even down to the bathrooms. We had the fried green tomatoes and they were very good. Highly suggest you grab the hot fudge brownie sundae. Brought me right back to my childhood memories. 10/10

It was Amazing! I ordered the turkey and dressing, turnip greens, macaroni and cheese as well as green beans. I already am planning to get more to go next week and go again on Friday for the catfish special. 5 stars is not enough to be able to give. A perfect 10 from me and my lunch date ( my son)
Robert Jackson
I had the turkey and dressing, man n cheese, potatoes and gravy and squash casserole. Also had the cornbread. Everything was very good! I sat at the bar and the service was excellent. Took my Mom and Dad a slice of chocolate meringue and chess pie, they loved it!
Albert Dale
Enjoyed a fellowship dinner with friends from California. Very pleasant atmosphere, great service and a wonderful menu selection!
We somehow all had breakfast selections.
Three of us had the #8 hot chicken and eggs.
A quite delicious meal and a good portion size, but the 'Nashville hot' version needs to be hot!
Again, tasty but the chicken needs real kick...that is Nashville hot!
Looking forward to return visit soon!

I was so full after eating here!! Very friendly staff and the food was amazing. Loved the atmosphere and it feels like you are transported back in time!!
Highly recommend!!

I found this place after a few locals posted stories on Tiktok and I had to see for myself. Here's my take on this great restaurant.
It is indeed very nostalgic and retro . This is obviously a favorite amongst the locals and it also draws in its own share of tourists hoping to find that perfect story to post on social media , I would politely suggest to be considerate of the staff and other diners privacy. All of the food was very tempting and I had a difficult time deciding what to order.
I had the meat and three sides ( amazing )
Get the pot roast ( 5 stars )
The mashed potatoes were smooth creamy and delicious. The mac and cheese was also exactly what I hoped for. I also tried the creamed corn which was fresh and probably not canned . They do have a very good lineup of burgers and offer American Cheese cheddar cheese blue cheese Swiss cheese pepper jack cheese and also pimento cheese. They also have some really good add-ons such as bacon and fried egg , for fresh toppings they have tomato lettuce jalapeno peppers grilled or raw onions mushrooms and The Best coleslaw I've ever had on a burger.
Try a milkshake they were absolutely amazing and I had a hard time deciding between the chocolate hot fudge butterscotch peanut butter coffee Butterfinger and Nutter butter. And for all you Old-Timers out there they also have malted option.
I had a classic banana split as a dessert which was executed perfectly with chocolate strawberry vanilla covered with strawberry pineapple and banana whipped cream and cherries.
Most of the menu is under $15 which gives incredible value. Also be sure to pick up some pie that is quite famous I'm sure you can get a whole pie for $25 but I think you might have to order that in advance ( especially the lemon meringue pie)
Thanks to Linda the pie lady for those Delicious pies.
Thank you to all the hard-working staff for making this place what it is.
And a big thank you to all the great people that call Nashville home I really enjoyed my time there.
I hope to come down again someday from Toronto Ontario.
Travelers be sure to put this on your list of must dine establishments.

What a cute place ! I ordered the strawberry sundae and the chocolate shake. I shared with my boyfriend and the portion was enough for both. They sell their original T-shirt and Mag-Cups.
Shannon L
Andrea, our waitress, Dillon, the bus boy, and Fred, the manager were awesome! Enjoyed hearing the history of the restaurant! Fred mentioned he loves working here because the staff and patrons are happy and friendly! The food was yummy!
Sue Mathis
Was taking a break from sitting in the hospital. Walking a few blocks, came across this restaurant. Was already on my 2022 bucket list. Decided to treat ourselves. Had burgers, tots, milk shakes and coconut cream meringue pie to take back. Our server was LaShanda. She was very personable, went over the menu with us, had patience! Kept our drinks filled.
Great meal. Looking forward to coming back.
Helena Sturgeon
This place was amazing!! I got breakfast and dinner. A biscuit with gravy 2 pieces of sausage cooked to perfection. Along with chicken tenders and french fries. This place is has the best nostalgia and the workers were just as awesome!!
Things In Nashville
Well I finally got the opportunity to try this Nashville foodie icon. Overall it was good. The burger had great taste and cooked right for a small patty. I had greens, Mac and cheese, and cream corn for sides. All three were great! The fellow that was my server was quick and attentive. He was friendly and professional as well.
My only real cons are the serving size to price ratio. Now I understand that all groceries are high right now. But, $5.95 for a second burger patty this small is rather high by any standards. We are talking about a little patty that just about 1.5x thicker and just about 3/4 Dia larger than a Krystals patty.
The Nutter Butter milkshake tasted great, it would have been better if it had a few Nutter Butter cookie chunks left in it. But I'm kinda spoiled on Cook Outs milkshakes, they are the best!!
Overall it was a good experience.

We actually visited this soda shop twice in our five day trip to Nashville! The service is so great and the prices are amazing. The breakfast potatoes are my favorite! My boyfriend got the Nashville chicken biscuits and he wasn’t the biggest fan but it was alright. The atmosphere is awesome and I wish there was a place like this where I live! They also have live music on the weekends on their little stage which is great. They also have a parking lot which is a relief. You can order things to go as well from the to go window outside! I definitely recommend this place to anyone going to Nashville for all day breakfast without a wait.
MyFoodie Travels
It was my first time here and this reminded me fondly of Archie's Pop Tate's! The staff are absolutely just wonderful, the ambience very comfy and welcoming, but the Jukebox!!!! Oh my, I have found my sliver of heaven on this side of Nashville!
I got a Banana Split for my bday dessert but have more than 2 people to share it! My only suggestion would be to also have waffles instead of just pancakes and it'd be perfect 😜
PS - This is not just any restaurant! They welcome you in like you're being adopted into the family! Absolutely wonderful.
(5 stars isn't even enough)
Monique Jackson
Great little place for comfort food. Love the strawberry malt, and burgers. Onion rings were very big and very tasty. Definitely recommend checking the place out.
jackson hasty
A lot of older establishments like this stay in business simply because they’re old and people feel bad letting them die. Not this one.
You’ve still got the aesthetic and old jukebox and a lot of old favorites on the menu. Somehow though, this isn’t just a tourist trap or nostalgia holdover; the food is really good. Be warned that if you get a milkshake you’re getting probably 36 ounces or so, which to me is the opposite of a problem but just be aware. Huge fan of the dinner sides more than anything, definitely a place everyone in nashville should go
Kate W
Cute soda shop with a really tasty dessert menu and good diner food. The butterscotch milkshake was delightful and the lemon icebox pie was refreshingly tart and sweet.
Perry Martin
Excellent milk shakes and pie with a perfect fountain coke to wash it down. May be a sugar high but will definitely be back.
Wonderful ambiance and has a juke box!
Merangue on pie was da bomb.
Well we came back for a late lunch.
Ordered a cheeseburger and a pattymelt.
The hamburger was to be honest, terrible.
Tasted like a frozen patty with no seasoning.
It was cooked to medium to medium well but both were just unpleasant.
The sourdough and cheese were good but the burger ruined the overall meal.
The tatertots and onion rings were good.
The fried pickles were not delicious.
The service was pleasant and helpful. If we come back it will be for milkshakes and pie only.
Mattison ellis
The service was fabulous as well as the food and decor! You need to have the pimento cheese sandwich like yesterday. By far the best pimento cheese I’ve ever had. The fried green tomatoes were fabulous, yes, greasy but what else would you expect from a fried food. The fries were perfect and seasoned well. Great portion sizes and a bang for your buck.
Victoria Bright
Staff was super friendly. Lots of seating, booths and tables. Kid friendly environment with a working juke box. Strawberry milkshake was phenomenal. I got the Catfish and pick 3. Catfish was just ok, it could use some love. Fried okra was great. Mashed potato's and Mac and cheese were ok. Probably wouldn't come back for the food itself, but I'd come back for the ice cream and atmosphere.
Oh, and parking can be a bit of a hassle during busy hours.
Kassandra Goettl
A really cool, well maintained, historic soda shop. The food servings seemed a bit small for the prices. A single egg and 1/2 an avocado on a small slice of toast was 10.99. Staff are friendly. Be sure to try the zinger phosphate soda!
Reese Vincent
Unique atmosphere, came on a busy Saturday night and few mistakes, but it’s understandable. Nothing that couldn’t be fixed. Good food, great prices. Shakes were amazing. Service was slow, but again, that’s understandable considering it being a Saturday night. Definitely will come back again, but never on the weekend (will have to come in on a Monday to try chicken and dumplings).
Brandon Steward
Thick hamburgers and the crinkliest fries I've ever seen. Besides being very noisy, this was a pleasant experience for both my wife and myself. We ordered hamburgers. The thick burgers came out open-faced, hot and fresh. While I liked my burger, my wife thought her party was too thick and the bun too thin. We shared a hot fudge brownie sundae - highly recommended.
The staff here were very friendly and nice. Our waitress had no problem with customizations to my burger and sundae. We'll be back again.
Christina Finkelmeier
Hotel recommended the Soda Shop!! Service was fantastic!! I assume it was the owner who saw my two little boys and brought them over some crayons and paper to draw on which I thought was so kind! Husband had the burger which he said was really good. Kids had pancakes… they were ok… kind of hard for my liking. I had the turkey and dressing and mashed potatoes and wasn’t a fan at all. I was really hoping for authentic home cooked food.. it was not good. However I will still give them 4 stars because everyone was so nice and we got to see Wynonna Judd there!!!
Michael
Cool atmosphere and the pie is to die for! Best chocolate pie I’ve ever had! My son said the banana pudding was the best thing he’s ever eaten.
Chris Green
Came to visit with our hockey team from out of state…just a really neat atmosphere and vibe (50s theme)can’t wait to come back, so many menu items I wanted to try but not enough time😋
Alyse
This place was the best. Instantly put me in a great mood when I walked through the door. The atmosphere and retro decor were perfect but the holiday decor made it extra cozy. All of the staff was in a pleasant mood which made for an even better experience. The food was tasty and at an affordable price, it came out quickly and the portions were perfect. Clearly this place is a fan favorite but if you need any more reason to visit this spot than make this review that reason.
Jon Woodard
Dynamite! Expect a wait if they are crowded but worth every minute Excellent food, huge portions and VERY attentive and friendly service. Catfish and the onion rings are superb. Reasonable prices. $10.99 for meat and two Don't skip the mile high pie! Definitely not my last meal here. The BEST!!!
gegc65
Oh my word! I had the chicken and dumplings, black eyed peas and squash casserole plus samples of everyone else’s. This was like having my mom’s cooking again. I’m ready to go back for the turkey and dressing! The service was great as well.
John Pishotta
Great place away from the crowds of downtown for good, down home country cooking. The design is true to the soda fountain of days gone by. Eric took great care of us while we were there. Parking is available on site, but it quite limited. Meter spaces/public parking is available nearby if needed.
Only down side - ordered the Friday/Saturday special - Catfish and hush puppies. I'm fairly certain there is no way the the 2 - as in one - two, pieces of Catfish could be any smaller. Either purchase larger ones or put at least 3 on the plate.

Elliston Place Soda Shop is all that makes Nashville special. We went here on a cool Thursday night, sat at the bar, and were thoroughly impressed with the experience the entire time. From the friendly and prompt service, to the great food, to the conversations, we were besides ourselves. The hamburgers were great but the milkshake… the strawberry milkshake… TOP 3 strawberry shake I’ve ever heard and I’m a milkshake connoisseur. Cannot say enough about the dessert!! I will absolutely be back. Craig and his staff know what they’re doing, they even told us the full story of how it came to be!! 9.4/10.
Anissa Perkins
I was sat fast & the food didn’t take long to come even during a busy lunch hour. The servers are nice. I will be back!
Kyle Weber
We went here because it was around the corner from our hotel, so I didn't have super high expectations, but I *loved* this place. Food comes out impossibly fast and piled high, and basically everything that we ended up having was tasty. Prices are extremely reasonable as well. I especially liked the meatloaf with the Mac and cheese, squash casserole, and tater tots. Ambience and service both gave this place a nice homey feel, and the desserts on display looked delicious. Overall highly recommended!
Charles Howse
Super experience, the best Chicken and dumplings. Service is upscale, just overall awesome 😛😛😛🥰 I am back and the French Toast is too die for, so much flavor 😁😁😁😁. Yes I have returned once again, everything was amazing. Keep up the good work. They continue too amaze me.
Najah shikamaru
The chef did a wonderful job the food was excellent. It was crowded also but we were still serviced quickly. It’s hard to find a place that serves good max and cheese. Theirs didn’t disappoint.
Opie Young
Absolutely the best food!! Even better is that we didn’t have to drive to Nashville to eat there. Highly recommend Ellison Place Soda Shop Foodtruck!!!

A MUST STOP!!
I don’t often say you must go anywhere but I was blown away yesterday enough to stop in a second day in a row. The milkshakes were 11/10 so good. Excellent staff friendly and helpful and a gorgeous and fun establishment. Definitely has the charm and great food one would look for in Nashville :)
Julia Sheats Tracy
This has been one of my favorite places for the longest time. Y'all need to go in and say hi to Miss Linda. She's been there forever and she's just wonderful. I finally got to reconnect with her yesterday. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is great and the building is wonderful since they moved into their new space. I just can't say enough good about it

Our party of two stopped by for ice cream. My partner had a milk shake and I ordered a banana split. Each was delicious.
Our server was attentive, professional, and friendly. The hostess was also friendly and helpful.
The restaurant was clean, as was the parking lot.
Adriana Echeverri
Had a great breakfast with eggs, bacon, and toast. Our server was friendly and stayed on top of hot coffee . The place was hoping on a Wednesday morning during a holiday week, but the crew was focused and made it look easy. Will definitely return to this Nashville original.
Aleksander Lucy
Great little restaurant that I love to come to for the weekly trivia. Service is always fantastic no matter who your waiter or waitress is, and the food is always delicious. Priced very typically for little restaurants like this in the Nashville area, with plenty of good options and a particularly robust sweet treat selection.
Brent MacDonald
Excellent meat and three restaurant with southern comfort foods. Like an old fashioned soda shop. Don't forget a milkshake... large portion too. Not much parking. New restaurant nicely done. Helpful server. Great burgers 🍔
Juliana Maxwell
Ok we had the most AMAZING welcome party for my son’s wedding. Kate and Craig pulled off the best party for 100 of our out of town family and friends at Elliston 2 weeks ago. If you want to have the most unique and cool party let Craig and Kate handle your next event. They made a great menu with passed apps and custom signature sundaes and even designed and printed custom menus. The food was great, the service was amazing and everyone of our guests had a blast.
Jim Swearingen
An old childhood friend just came to visit and brought along one of your chocolate chess pies. Though I grew up with southern parents and grandparents, and lots of southern cooking in our Midwestern home, I had never heard of or tasted chess pie. What a discovery! My wife and I loved it!!! Thank you for this excellent dessert! We will have to visit The Soda Shop soon!
Shelby Allmon
We used the Soda Shop for our holiday catering and it was so amazing! The food was hot and delicious! They set everything up, communication was effortless and they were professional through the entire event. They even checked afterwards that everything went well. I highly recommend them.

Great breakfast, NO WAIT on a Saturday morning in Nashville (showed up @ 9:30 am)!!! Fantastic service, excellent coffee and food, and one of the best banana puddings I’ve ever had! Will go again/recommend to friends!
Crystal Burston
This place is so fun and the food is so delicious. I have had a little of everything, I’ve been here several times for breakfast too. The customer service is great always have a good time with the servers. The pies are not only beautiful but so good, if you have enough room after you eat your meal try that or shake you won’t regret it.
Mena Robertson
The pot roast, Mac n cheese, onion rings, fried green tomatoes, cornbread and strawberry shakes are fabulous, very delicious! From the beginning to the new soda shop I've never been disappointed. Great job Elliston Place Soda Shop 🥰
Moriko Grimes
YUM, YUM YUM! Everything I've ever eaten from here is good. This breakfast for lunch was DELICIOUS. French toast...nailed it. Scrambled eggs were fluffy and the sausage was just right. I also liked that there was an option to add fresh fruit. I chose bananas and blueberries. This meal gave much satisfaction. I was full and wanted to take a nap, afterwards. Easily one of the best breakfasts...ever!
Ashley Holstein
Service was excellent, food was delicious, the atmosphere is 10/10 (great job on the refurb). I love how kid friendly this is and the list is endless for treats. We will be back for live music👍🏽 …
Breanna Lane
The food was great!! Staff was amazing!! Will definitely return!! :)
Luke Miller
Great Diner food! Love the blend of old and new decor. Burger was perfect. Definitely need to go back and try all the pies!
JK Hunter
09.08.2022 went again today to ESSS! Walked from St Thomas Midtown (Baptist) Hospital. It's extremely close. I had a # 2 breakfast 🥞🍳🥓 GREAT!!
Syrup really should be served hot. I asked for melted butter 🧈 & it quickly prepared. Love this place! New building looks great!!

04.05.2018 - I have been going to Elliston Place Soda Shop for over 30 years. The food is always excellent. The server was a little slow this time, but the changed and upgraded some of their systems. The food is well worth the wait! Here is the current menu as of 04-05-2018

Love the remodel! Nice clean space with great service. Happy, fun place to be. First time for breakfast. French toast melts in your mouth.
Don Rogers
Parking is tight, but the Krispy Kreme next door is an option after 6pm. Staff is friendly. Great classic ice cream treats. Priced fairly. Service was a bit slow, but they were somewhat busy.
k brenen
This place is perfectly ok. Maybe meat and 3 is just not exciting to me, idk. I ordered the fried chicken mac and cheese and onion rings. Onion rings had thick breading that made the grease get really soaked up and made them taste like straight hot oil. The mac and cheese was perfectly ok, it wasnt offensive. The fried chicken was like the onion rings...super heavy batter that soaks up all that dirty fryer oil. Eating here made me feel a little gross bc of all the heavy fried food and idk the chicken was just like anywhere else. Nice looking inside, wait staff was fantastic, food came out quick...not trying to be pejorative in my review it just seems like these places are super common and that how I feel about tje food...common, nothing to go try or experience. I would not eat here again bc meat and 3 dosent do it for me but if I was going out with people and they wanted meat and 3 I would say go here because whats the difference? Maybe get the milkshakes or pot roast...idk I waked in hungry and left not hungry, so there's that.
Tammy Inman
This was mine and my husband first time eating here. We both liked the food. I have a weakness when it comes to Turkey & Dressing and they serve it daily! Husband had the Pot Roast, beef was so tender it cut with his fork. Knife was only needed to spread butter on his cornbread muffin. The staff treated us like we were their only customers, and they had a good sized group of customers at the time. We will be back soon!
Vetrel Smith
Good ol'southern food seasoned well but also a little too salty for my taste, servers need serving trays but the jukebox music makes up for it all with a variety of music mostly from the 1950's through the 70's that seems to lightly echo through the place that's appropriately decorated from the Soda Shop era. I need a poodle skirt, bobby socks and a pair of those black and white oxford shoes.
Shawn Wilkerson
Not bad, nothing to write home about. Wife had a banana split, I had an ok piece of pecan pie and some coffee. Good atmosphere
Cris Engle
Had a great lunch here while visiting Nashville. Everything came out piping hot and delicious. I had the chicken tenders with the EPSS special sauce and a cherry coke.
Only downside is one of my party had the catfish and it was partially not cooked well enough.
Service was great and the ladies working were awesome.
Jim Gentile
Visited today. Enjoyed. French toast bacon grits. All good. Packed too. Very good service
Will return

First time from out of town, Breakfast was great, friendly and great service, definitely will go back great soda fountain experience from great era.
Henry Cartwright
Super nice staff and great food. I opted for the meat+3 because it was chicken & dumplings. I’m so glad I did.
Daniel Carpenter
We eat here about twice a month. The food is always great. Great atmosphere. Menu is somewhat limited.
Patti Carter
Staff was personable and efficient. Food was fresh and delicious. The tater tots were crispy and perfect.
Phyllis Gamber
This place was awesome! The food was absolutely delicious and our server Andrea K. was so sweet and extremely good at her job.
James Bobo
I love eating here!!! It is a good place to go for a quick burger and fries...and maybe even a milk shake! They have great service and the cleaning person is always so thorough and good at making sure the table is cleaned well! They have great food and if you have a special song you would like to play they have a FREE jute box! This is a good place to go if you are in a '50s mood! Thank You for being a part of Nashville!
Stuart Yancy
I saw they had a "meat and three" so I decided to order that to go. I got turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, squash casserole and a cornbread muffin. It was all excellent and large enough portions so that I was very full afterwards. I wish I'd have saved room to try a milkshake. They hade a walk up window where you can pick up your order without having to go inside.
Annie M
My husband and I used to go to the original location during college, and I used to go with my parents before that. The renovation is beautiful and makes for a genuine atmosphere. Food quality has always held up. I was very impressed with the friendliness and speed of service during my visit yesterday. We ate until we were 100% stuffed and I still had food on my plate, so the portions are great. Their ice cream sodas are always perfect!
Taylor Cunningham
Amazing! This is the best spot on the town! This is better than any chicken my old man ever cooked me in the 80s. I’ll be back once a month until the day I die!

Exactly what we expected! Food was very good, staff was very nice, everything looked clean and well... we enjoyed our visit. We were a large group that didn't all arrive together, but they didn't care. We were seated and treated very well by our server. I can't wait to go back!
Bob Sackett
Great service and tasty food. We had the turkey and dressing, it was good. The banana pudding had a lot of flavor.
Quitney H
Elliston Place is a time jump into the past. With true unchanged retro decor. The patterns are that of a 1960's ice cream parlor. The flavor of the shakes and sundaes are at a 3.5 star status. You get more than enough per serving. Maybe enough to serve 2 people. Parking can be kinda difficult as with most places in nashville. You have to feed the meter!
Amm Hailey
Food was good! Strawberry milkshake is the best! Good service. Reasonable price.
James Bobo
If you like Burgers and Fries in a 50s Style Diner head over to Elliston Place! It is my favorite place to eat at in Nashville! The service is always so nice! The manager is hands on and does not mind helping his employees! If you need a bite to eat for lunch come to Elliston Place!!!
Paul Knab
Fast service, good food and prices! We really enjoyed our first visit.
Jennifer Koopman
This is a must go-to place if you are visiting from out of town. The squash casserole was so good and the boozy bushwacker shake was AMaZiNg! Staff was very friendly too.
Michael Tedesco
Immediately brings you back to a better time. Feels like a 50s malt shop. Food may not look that special from pics but it was extremely tasty. Big love on the chicken and biscuits.
Chayah Consulting
My apologies! It should have been 5 stars. The food, I ordered was good! Onion rings and a shake. Although it was a busy Monday afternoon, service was prompt! We didn't feel rushed. We were a party of 6 and everyone ordered something different and enjoyed their food!
I'd definitely go again!
Joan Hurt
Decent food and a fun atmosphere. Reminiscent of the old Elliston Place Soda Shop with more room and a little more up to date, with that nostalgic feel.
Nina Massengjll
A lot has changed over the last 10 to 12 years. They have torn down the old building and built up a new one with the same old thing. Still crowded as ever. Lot of people still ordered their signature hamburgers and malt shakes.
Mary Gulley
What a great place. Just had breakfast today but it was very good. I look forward to going back to try the shakes!
CEJ
Turkey&dressing very good! Fried chicken also good. Had black-eyed peas and squash casserole! Milkshake and pie for dessert!
Jessica
OMG. First time visiting here. Absolutely loved it. Not much in choice for lunch. But the shakes and old fashioned drinks are to die for. Breakfast was amazing and served all day.
Melissa Slone
The staff are so friendly and the nostalgic atmosphere is awesome! The food is delicious! Their milkshakes are so good! If you're in Nashville... It's a great place to eat!
Rachel Kelly
We are so glad we found this spot on our trip to Nashville. To start, our server was so friendly and knowledgeable. The restaurant is newly and continues to be under an expansion, which makes sense because when we left it was packed. Our breakfast orders were great portions and a nice price. We loved it!
hobojon
This place has been around since 1939 and still serves the best home cooked food. I highly recommend the four vegetable platter. Save room for dessert especially the coconut pie.
Breanna Leggett
Food and service was great! Loved the feel of the restaurant. Milkshakes hit the spot!
Dimitri Kyle
I love a place that's always packed and capable of staying on top of customer service. A table was never empty and neither was my drink!
Karen Tucker
They only thing that tasted good to me was the burger and Dr. Pepper. Someone one else in the dining party said the same thing but didn't finish their meal. But I do have to say, it was probably because they were really busy. It's a place probably better to eat at when they are not so busy. The waitress was nice and I really liked how the place looked.
Hector Garza
Great place for breakfast! Amazing grits! Recommend!
JE Stew
Ordered some breakfast for dinner because we are stuck at the Children's Hospital down the street. Ordered the egg meal with grits toast and bacon with a side of meat. Through Uber Eats. Photos online look amazing and we were excited to try them. Cheese grits tasted great but you don't get much at all. The egg and bacon was good. Toast was think and not crispy. We ordered an extra side of meat that we did not receive. We didn't receive any condiments we requested and also we did not receive any silverware at all. Do not sure how they expected us to eat it. Luckily we were able to search and find silverware at the hospital. Would definitely not order here again because they didn't get a simple order right.
Edit: Thanks to Jim, this situation was turned around swiftly and promptly. He reached out to us to determine how this situation could be made right. After explaining our situation, he offered to provide us with a free meal and went above and beyond to deliver it himself. Our daughter is in the hospital and he gave her a hat and some coloring materials. The food was great by the way.
Missi Swartzfager
Jordan was an amazing server...very helpful in sharing the goods to eat when you're unsure and he was sooo very polite!! I had the Turkey & swiss on wheatberry bread and added bacon...it was exceptional!! The sweet potato fries were delicious as well. Please try the chess pie...YUM!! So happy we stopped in this interesting dive that takes it back to the days before I was born...
Timmy D Hughes Sr
Wonderful services, greet server.
Food ok little salty for me. Clean Wonderful atmosphere
LINDA COOPER
Food couldn't have been better. Service was great! Love eating here. Fun place to eat!
Diana Woodworth
We had a variety of food at our table and everyone was satisfied with the choice of meal. Ellistons has a very welcoming atmosphere, attentive staff and most of all very very clean.
James Maylee
Vacation trip. Local uber driver recommended. Worth the trip, great food, lot of history. If we go back to Nashville will definitely go back.
Rachel B
Cute old fashioned restaurant. Limited vegan options, but I did get an Impossible Burger. Our server was really nice.
Coach Kenny
Great spot anytime but my last visit was for breakfast. The service and food were both great.
Chelsea Beatty
Such a perfect place. The ambience is fun and contagious. The menu options are endless, and so afforable, especially for the food quality and customer service received.
I recommend the chicken sandwich, fried okra, and a Dr.Pepper Float 😋
Robert Ferrari
Visiting Nashville I was looking for a malt soda shop style from the 50s place looks so beautiful nice atmosphere of 50s60s nice vintage juke box on the tables Burgers was good but nothing special fries was ok but the milkshake was very good I asked Dana the adorable waitress to add syrup around the cup like the malt shops in NJ NY & Chicago she said fine 👍 great job the manager lady bring to my table saying just the way you asked I said thank you very much …. when I walked out towards the front door I said goodbye and thank you so much for Dana she gave me a big smile and I didn’t understand about the manager besides her look at me and gave me her back ….my wife said that’s the must rude person unprofessional way to treat the clients…..im trying to be positive and I told my wife I believe maybe that’s their culture in Nashville
Margi Jared
Always fine food and love the atmosphere and mile high pie.
phillipe weikle
There milkshakes are the bomb it's even better to make it a mault I drove all way from West Virginia to come here and it's well worth the trip
Kent Duffy
Great burger, fries and shake combos in this throwback soda shop diner. Features a personal juke box at booths and a liver music stage. You can also get a "boozy" shake if you want.
Charlie Green
Nice food, atmosphere, and service. Not outstanding. 4 stars only because the pricing, but I guess that's Nashville.
Kevin Weinberg
I had their impossible burger it was seasoned very well The fries were good definitely be trying their breakfast one morning
David Porco
Great place to come...very nostalgic!
joe miller
Friendly staff great food. Old time soda shop feeling. Overall great place to eat and enjoy a coffee.
Steven Sellers
I really liked it. It is still new and will grow into its own soon. Still needs that polish that comes with time but for a new place I think it’s doing great. Good meat and three. Ice cream and shakes are good. Desserts look amazing.
Gary R
Good burgers made on a griddle with a perfect burnt bottom. Both the burger and fries came to the table almost too hot to eat. The only negative was the bottom of the bun was "almost" too soggy. I had the Chocolate Pie with was great but enough for 2 people. The environment was like visiting a soda shop in the early 1900's. The restaurant was exceptionally clean.
I give this place a 5 star not because the burger was great but because the restaurant delivered exactly what they advertise. If you can handle it...the shakes looked incredible!
Trinia Sadler
Great place to eat atmosphere wS really clean, the service , great nice. !! Enjoyed our breakfast , fresh 😋
Cable Beck
This place is fantastic. I highly recommend the flavored sodas, just make sure you stir a little. The milkshakes were amazing too, and all their flavors are available in non-dairy as well. Great vibe, and they have a good mix of diner and meat-and-three food options
Terri Barry
Quaint cute sofa fountain. Malt and daily special was great. Service was lacking. But sounded like she had only been there a few weeks.
Marquita Moore
I took a group of work guys there yesterday after we just rolled in from Ohio for “liner”& our server Barbara F was amazing! She was so good with our questions and she was patient with us. The guys were loud & maybe a bit obnoxious but the staff here was not bothered. The food was amazing, the napkins need to be praised! They were so tuff & durable, perfect for diner food! No one needed to ask for another, that is just plain great! Thanks for making our 1st food excursion memorable while in Nashville Elliston Place Soda Shop!
Pamela Diaz
It's a good sign when the place is packed at 11:30 on a Thursday morning. Great atmosphere, great service, yummy food! The meatloaf was excellent. The highest meringue I've ever seen on the pies!
Ryan McElroy
As we walked into Elliston place I was worried. Bad experiences at 50s style diners led me to believe this would be a tourist trap, and stressing about street meter-only parking didn't help.
Safe to say this place delivered. Excellent atmosphere, delicious milkshakes and food, along with unbelievable service. Worth the 30 minute wait during lunch rush for our large party.
Ryan Welch
I had an awesome experience at this restaurant! The food, the service, and the overall environment were all fantastic! I was told about this staple of a restaurant in Nashville and knew that I had to try it. I was not disappointed in any way at all! I will definitely be back to enjoy more and I highly recommend that you swing by and try it yourself if you have the opportunity!
Tomeka Huey
It was good the staff was very nice,I had the country Ham eggs and potatoes 👍
I didn't get to try the Milkshake but I will be back soon.
kevin mccarney
I spent almost 2 years next door at the hyatt, my biggest regret was not going in sooner. The menu is excellent, the portions are bigger than needed and the food is fantastic. Banana split looks amazing but extremely sharable. Pot roast is killer and they make some great breakfast, served all day
LSC NMCB24
We visited here a while back and enjoyed the experience so much we took my wife's parents for them to enjoy what we'd found. The waitress was very helpful and kind helping my in-laws with their first trip their.
Falaunda Williams
The food is excellent and the service was great!! The food is worth more than the price but happy to receive such great food for a decent price.
Will most definitely travel to eat there again.
W Simpson
We stopped here and had a very good breakfast. This is a popular and busy place to go. The hostess and our waitress were nice and friendly. We enjoyed the atmosphere and music. The parking is small, you might have to park in the street.
Ale Torres
The place is very nice, the food is really good but the service sucks, the servers are very distracted and slow.
Stephen Hall
Was not disappointed delish food and great service.
Brett Goldberg
The best biscuits you will ever taste. Fun vintage atmosphere with great pricing. Seriously good breakfast, dynamite meat +3.
Brian Oliver
This place lives up to its reputation, incredible service, great food and a fun atmosphere!
Minjae Kim
Great place, good burger, and even better shakes. If you’re a college student on a budget, this is the place where you bring your date on a Friday night. It’s also a good place to go get dessert, after eating at ihop or Osake.
Khay Williams
Wow! I had an absolute great experience. The music was awesome and I was grooving and the hot dog was the best ever I also had cucumber and onion it was marvelous. My son enjoyed his burger greatly and his milkshake. I will return. I was so comfy and leadership walks around checking on you, the wait staff is top notch! Will return.
Jacy Shumate
Best fried pickles on the planet. Known for their shakes and they do not disappoint. The rest of the food is debatable. I always enjoy the vibe of the restaurant when I come. Such a hidden gem of Nashville. Also the staff is wonderful!
J Martin
Back open and 10 times better! I am so glad they expanded into their new site and now have much more seating. Food has been amazing and I have been at least 5 times since they opened. Trying to taste or try something different on the menu, as I go each time. If you order a burger and such- that is cooked to order, it will take a bit more time than ordering from one of the daily specials. Either way, it is a win-win. I have not been able to try any pies (can you say too full from eating), but I hear they are amazing from those with me, who did. Ms. Linda can sure make a mess-o-pies. Maybe I will just start with a pie one day and go from there (isn't there a saying about that somewhere). The staff has been great and very attentive to keeping up with everyone. I will admit, it was a bit rough on day one, opening day, but they have rebounded with more staff and got things going right after that initial opening. Look forward to many more visits; while I may even have to walk off some extra pounds from the enjoyment of their delicious shakes! No complaint here though.
Michael Tribett
One of the best chocolate malt shakes I have ever had!
Tammy Calaway
Food was great, service was outstanding. Loved the atmosphere and got to see Lyle Lovett
Jesse Qualls
Awesome place met the owner Jim family place to hang out and you get the whole milk shake
Lee Griffin (lit_lee)
Never in your life will you havethe sweetest dreams about a restaurant. It's live and lit here y'all, you're missing out if you haven't been here.
Bill Latimer
Even though it's moved locations, the atmosphere is still there.
Always a great place for great food. Breakfast all day.
We don't get there enough.
Angela Lopez
What fun!! This is an old fashioned soda shop with some modern choices. We ordered a patty melt and an impossible burger. I also got a boozy milk shake that made my night. Our server was a sweet woman that entertained us with a mechanical musical low rider. 😃 the wait for our food was a bit excessive but the server provided us with 3 free milkshake coupons for the trouble. Well done! Thank you guys!
Felicia Stockell
Excellent service, excellent food and manger was super helpful. Loved the shakes, chicken, chocolate chess pie and out of this world squash casserole.
Keri Ross
Delicious breakfast and friendly staff. Such a cool old-fashioned diner!!
Earl B
Meatloaf I think was store bought and heated up?? And the bowl of chilli was. Like hotdog chili. Everything else was ok.
Susan Comer
I love this place. Friendly service, very retro, fun, and true to its roots. That said, I do not recommend the burgers. They have an odd unpleasant taste as if something is mixed into the meat. Was really looking forward to the burger and was surprised by this. In the future, I will still go there but avoid the burgers. Fries and onion rings are great! I'm sure most of the menu is also great. I applaud the work done at this new location to recreate the unique vibe of the original.
Trenton Enterkin
Just plain fantastic food. I've been twice and tried to get completely different things each time. Both times everything from the appetizers to the main course to the sides were all outstanding. Definitely a new favorite place of mine.
Karen Bishop
Food was really good. Had pot roast and veggies. Waiter was truly a Waiter. Matthew made sure he kept everything moving. I haven't had service like this in maybe forever. He seemed to really enjoy his job.
Highly recommend.

Having moved here not to long ago the amount of amazing restaurants and food around these parts can make your head spin. My husband and I are huge fans of anything Americana so naturally we had to try out Elliston Place soda shop. Our first time was a couple weeks or so ago and we went back again last night. So far the only place we’ve been too The first thing you notice is even the signs have a touch of southern hospitality. Then the amazing historic architecture. When you walk inside you are greeted by a a super friendly hostess and your orders are taken by an equally friendly server. The food is good. Get the pimento cheese on your burger and try a dr.pepper with chocolate. But what really sells this place is the atmosphere and employees. That’s why we keep coming back. It’s just nice, quiet and personable with plenty of parking. One of those places that make you feel at home or at a friends house. Give them a whirl you won’t be disappointed!
Alexandria Cramer
Love it! The food is great and comes out super fast, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the general ambiance is really cool! It seems like they're no longer doing live music due to covid, but it was a neat spot nonetheless.
Brandi Fullerton
Amazing customer service to go with an excellent plate of food! Everyone was friendly and it felt like we had been coming there for years! Highly recommend the fried chicken, greens, mac and cheese and dont skip the pimento cheese!
Alisa Torres
I had such a great experience in this restaurant today. The staff was incredibly friendly and personable! Such a great energy in there! Not to mention-- the BISCUITS! AMAZING! I enjoyed my time there as well as the food! I will be returning with family and friends! Thank you for such a wonderful time.
Cristina Baskette
My daughter and I ate breakfast here when we were in Nashville recently. She had the blueberry pancakes, and I had french toast (which was amazing). It had a nice vintage diner atmosphere, and the service was great.
Mark Morgan
As a 30 year Navy guy, you can imagine the places I've traveled and restaurants I've visited. I'm visiting for the week for new job. I'm very impressed with Elliston Place Soda Shop. My first meal was simple chicken tenders Nashville Hot and fries followed by a Nutter Butter milkshake. All three were PREFECT. The staff was what I expected...Nashville TN friendly. Guess I made the right choice in job and new move here next year. Well done.
Sue Bennett
Excellent food,service,price Fun day
Rachel Ebelherr
Avocado toast would be the reason I can't afford a house 🤣 but the potatoes are amazing! Love the spice. Coffee wasn't great, but it did the job. …
Misty Hanshew
The place, food and staff is amazing and sweet. My family went here for lunch while my mom was getting her biopsy done for her cancer. Jimmy was so sweet. Will definitely be back
Charles Ary
The new store lacks the grittiness of the original, but the update definitely works. The food is very good, service is friendly, and the story behind this new incarnation makes it special. Thanks to the new owner for keeping the tradition alive.
Tonya Anderson
Food was fantastic! First time going and the service was wonderful! Our server, Shonda (I think that's her name) was very warm and inviting and did an excellent job explaining the menu and options we had available. We will be back next time we come to Nashville!
Laroy Burgess
Let me just say that after I paid over $15.00 for a plate of nachos downtown, I was very happily surprised that we had lunch for 2 for under $25.00. I had the chicken and dumplings with 3 sides and my wife had fried chicken with 3 sides. There was definitely no room for dessert. Which is sad because they all looked great. Our server was very friendly and always knew when to stop at the table to check on us. Great place!!!
Maddy Morrison
Stopped in for dinner and the host was very open about it being opening week and the restaurant being understaffed. He warned us it would be about 45 minutes before being seated. We sat on the cute patio and ended up being seated within 20 minutes!
Our server showed up promptly to take our order and the food came out hot and quickly. The fried chicken and green were both tasty, the tots and fries were hot and crispy, and the zinger sodas were unique and delicious!
We will definitely be back to try the milkshakes and sundaes and we wish them the best finding more staff so they can fill the whole place.
Kelly K
Stopped in her to grab a quick drink. We ordered a nutter butter milkshake, dreamsicle, root beer float and an order of pimento cheese. All of it was GREAT! The atmosphere was spectacular and even though they were really busy, they took the time to speak with us. Will definitely return before our trip is over.
We went again! This time we ordered lunch. Burgers, salad, chicken sandwich and a wide range of drinks. SO good!!
Charisse Moseley
I ate at the old place quite regularly. I love the look of the place and the music is great. However the food has changed. I use to order turnip greens and green beans all the time. Now they've changed the way they cook them. They're adding vinegar to both of them. I'm not a big fan of vinegar. Now when I want a meat & 3, I will be finding another one.
Shay Arnold
They serve breakfast all day long and it is fabulous food! It's so good that we ate here twice and we're only here for 4 days
Charles High
This soda shop restaurant has been here since 1939. They lost their lease and moved right next door with a nice expansion. I like the meat & 3, an entree with a choice of a dozen vegetables. Regular entrees are excellent fried chicken, turkey and dressing and pot roast. Country sides like mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, squash casserole, collard greens are popular. The pies are all home made and exceptional especially lemon ice box pie and fruit pies. The house made milk shakes are large and delicious.
Jennifer Swaim
We visited last week while on a road trip. My kids loved the retro vibe and our food was great. We enjoyed the hamburgers, grilled cheese, and kids meal with chicken nuggets. We also enjoyed ice cream shakes. The banana pudding wasn't great, but everyone else was! Our waitress was great and the owner even showed us a Lego build of the diner! We will definitely return when in Nashville!
Scott Sessions
This is like stepping back in time. Great selection of diner foods and premium ice creams. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. Music from the 50's was a welcomed addition. The only problem is this diner is not in my hometown. Worth coming back to Nashville!
Buddy Swift
Fantastic place, good food, staff & management are very friendly. We loved the atmosphere. Highly recommend you visit Elliston!
glen baggett
Great food and waitress... was crowded which is what you want in a restaurant... will be back to try additional items on the menu.
Tracey Cantu
Great service, fun atmosphere, out of the world milk shakes. Absolutely the best burger that I have had!
Brooke Gander
My husband and I love coming here. Good food and extremely nice people! Also doesn’t hurt that their French toast is the best we’ve EVER had!!
Fate thomas
We have been waiting on the reopening of the Elliston Place Soda Shop and we were not disappointed . Just being in the restaurant was fun . They truly captured the vibe of its identity. The service was excellent , even though it was noon on a Friday. The staff seemed to have a good grasp of the menu even though they were too young to appreciate its history. The food was great , orange cream soda and cherry phosphate were refreshing and it felt like seeing a great old friend !!! Looking forward to our return !!!
David Kerns
THE BEST PLACE... maybe not for your arteries but for your heart and soul. Great menu and atmosphere, delicious, friendly and well-run. Perfect O.G. breakfast / brunch place. Just treat yourself. What have your arteries ever done for you anyway?
Colleen
Still so good and glad to see Nashville keep a piece of her history.
Sheila Register
Love the beautiful renovation of the soda shoppe! I certainly want this restaurant to succeed and stay open.
I would like to submit some suggestions. Please offer real hand-cut FF.
Also, the dressing needs improving. The cranberry sauce was homemade, but very bitter and had an orange taste to it. I could not eat it, but others might like it.
The hamburger also needs some work; very bland, nothing to get excited about. Definitely needs improving.
I hope these suggestions will be taken in a positive way so customers will keep returning.
Thank you.
John Gargaro
Hadn't been there since they remodeled and the place looks great! The food is as delicious as ever and our server was super down home sweet
Highly recommend the pot roast. It tasted like home cookin
Ann White
Nostalgic for me! I ate at the old place in the early 1960's while I was in lab school at Southern Academy of Clinical Technology. All of us students really enjoyed the meals and companionship we experienced there.
Robin Bush
Food was great, and the service was very friendly. We were on our way to a TPAC show and they were quick to get our food and ticket to us. Milkshakes are amazing.
Stephanie Richey
Great food! Great atmosphere! Great prices!
Pat Boyum
Food was average ambiance was retro soda shop. Pricing was higher than anticipated. Bought fried chicken expecting the old fashioned crispy chicken instead received chicken with very little batter kinda tasted like tempura. Disappointed. The strawberry shake was about what I would get at Sonic nothing special
But the absolute worst was the lemon meringue pie. Was more like a chess pie thick gooey with no actual flavor but was tart like a lemon would be. The meringue was liquidy and had no sweetness to it at all. Even my dog who likes anything turned his nose up at it. Don't know if this was just a bad pie but the cost I paid just to throw them in the trash ensures that I will not try again.
Aaron Rose (tiny gaming)
On a weekend trip with my wife, decided to check out this spot that was recommended. Food was excellent, service was great and management was attentive. Best milkshake I have EVER had, period. Will most definitely be back whenever we visit.
Sandra Sinclair
This place was really cool! Loved the decor, staff was great, & the burger & tater tots was very good. Definitely recommend. 👍
Niegel Massey
Enjoyed a burger and fries
The vibe it a step back in time
The server was very good
Kelli Bradbury
This is one of the most unique places in Nashville! It's been beautifully redone, but is such a fun vibe. The food was wonderful, the staff was great, and it was pleasantly busy on a Saturday night. The live music was great too!
Terry
Good food good fast and friendly service clean restaurant, decently priced
Eddie Maddox
Very good and nostalgic place to eat or get a treat.
Marcella Hudson
For some reason we haven’t been here in years. Retired and usually stay on our side of town. However we have now (re)found our favorite breakfast place and plan to check them out for lunch and dinner. Food is good, prices reasonable and service awesome. Food was quick. So much nicer then the 30+ minutes wait at the other breakfast chains.
Jonathan Buechner
Wonderful place with an inviting decor. The chicken and dumplings were delicious and the sundae was amazing- would definitely come back!
Randy Warren
If you are near by, you better GO. Order anything you can't go wrong. The last thing I had was the French Toast.
Adrian Williams
Although Elliston's is in a new location, I have been coming here for 45+ years since college. When you want a good, balanced, reasonably priced home-cooked meal, you can't beat this place.
mary Brooklyn Fuller-fearn
Ordered fish, white beans, fish was the 2pc size for a kid very small ask for extra piece due fish pieces being so small was told cannot just cook 1 piece fish would have to order an extra order (very disappointed) also white beans had no seasoning very bland wife had chicken dressing that was too mushy not good but must say desserts were excellent coconut pie, don't think will be going back. Back in the day their food was so good had that soul food taste
Michael Owings
Always a treat! The meat and three was delicious with the biscuit - always the biscuit - and a malted coffee milkshake for dessert.
A tiny disappointment was the lack of greens but the fried pork chop was so good, I couldn't hold it against the fine folks at Elliston Place.
E Porter
Everything was delicious! We had burgers, fries, and shakes. All were fantastic, and the service was outstanding. Definitely recommend for a unique, fun dining experience.
brandon frohne
Talk about an awesome experience! We were in the mood for something nostalgic for dinner, and what better place to do this than EPSS! We sat at the counter, and Amy served us. She's amazing, and made it a real treat for us. Awesome to be able to knock back some wine, chill for a bit, and listen to some live music. Make sure you try their boozy milkshakes...INSANE!
Tequita Tolbert
I used to love the soda shop back in the days. I used to always get a soul food plate and it was fye . I sent my dad to get me plate with fried chicken, macaroni, greens. The chicken was half done and when did they start selling can greens.
Danny Dean
Good food. The green beans were awesome. Good service from the waitress. No complaints.
Ed W.
Clean, large, friendly staff. Decent value for a large/popular city. I had the #1 breakfast, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Jessica C
This place is a hidden gem! Some of the (if not the) best milkshakes I've ever had. The dreamsicle will take back to your childhood of chasing the neighborhood ice cream truck for the most prized orange push pop!! The staff is equally amazing and friendly. We felt right at home. If you want to see all the delicious things they are crafting setting at the counter is a must. Their shop sauce is delightful and goes well with nearly everything. The burgers are juicy and tasteful. Everything is so fresh, including the jalapeños which most places use pickled, not this place. Gives a perfect bite only to be soothed by a creamy shake. Environment is nostalgic and lively. We loved every minute!
Heather Counsellor
This place was so great! The decor was impeccable. But even better oh, was the food. Everything was delicious. They even have vegetarian options! The staff was so friendly and welcoming. We highly recommend and get a milkshake!
Eduardo Damasceno
Wonderful food, great staff! We had a wonderful time. Chocolate shake is way better than usual!
zack stout
It's the best meat n three in Nashville! It really is the standard!!
Joey Dungy
A step back in time... fried bologna sandwich with fried egg and cheese. Look at how thick the bologna is. Finished off with a banana split.
Brian Gagnon
We got an ice cream soda here one afternoon, and liked it so much that we decided to go back for breakfast the next day. It was the best breakfast I have ever had. Biscuits were soft and buttery, and the potatoes were next level. If you are visiting Nashville, Elliston Soda Shop is a must on your itinerary.
GAIL STARK
The best food & service. If you have a chance eat here!!!!
Anita Culbertson
Great staff, food and prices! A Nashville jewel!!
Mike Schaefer
A Nashville tradition. The food was great and the service was spot on!
John & Iris Sherman
Good meat n three. Great old soda fountain bar - fantastic if you are in mood for nostalgic shakes and sundaes!
Traci Sloss
We have not been here in years. The food was good and hot. The hostess was a bit rude but the waitress was nice and very helpful. The drinks were extremely weak and over priced. But we will definitely return.
Seth Parrish
Not a bad thing to say. Not super expensive for what it is. Best biscuits you can get and that coming from a boy who’s granny made some good homemade biscuits. Milkshake is hard to beat as well.
Dorothy Bobo
So much history in this business. So glad they kept the same theme. The service was great, the food was delicious and the prices are very reasonable!
This long standing business began with a pharmacy in 1907. The. The Soda Shop and grill began in 1939. In 2020 the building next door was bought and the current, expanded Soda Shop continues today. I’m so happy they restored this treasure.
A classic “meat and 3” plus burger and malted shake diner. The booths retain the 40’s, 50’s feel. The new but old looking floor tile adds to that charm. There’s even a small stage for live music.
All the staff were friendly. We ordered the chicken and dumplings. Some had fried okra, Mac and cheese, squash casserole, green beans, along with biscuits or corn rolls. Another ordered the cheeseburger and onion rings. It was ALL homemade and served hot. All the pies looked heavenly but we were so full we decided to split a banana pudding 4 ways. Good gosh almighty, that was good eats! I highly recommend this place and the prices are great!
Katy Kinard
SUCH good food! Always been a fan.
Since the renovation, they don't serve as big of portions of side items as they used to, but it's still lots of food (they've added dense homemade biscuits to die for...comes with the meals)
I know they need to save money somewhere... so not as much of the side items to take home, but you won't leave there without a full, full belly!
Magdalena & Randy Throckmorton
The place is like a 1950’s soda shop. We had fried chicken and it was so good, not over crispy where you can’t taste the chicken, it is perfectly made and good flavor. The sides, squash casserole, greens, mashed potatoes and gravy, and cornbread. We enjoyed everything. We had malted shakes after. The service was great, our waiter was a very friendly young man. We highly recommend this place.

Great spot for breakfast with a retro old Town feel and southern charm.
Rosa Mendez
Excellent customer service and food!!! So many pie choices 🤤
Christina L
Historic And Fun Soda Shop Restaurant. Excellent Southern Comfort Food.
Shawna Hausmann
Delicious food! Went for my daughters birthday and the waitress was so sweet to her! Very busy but that’s because it’s a great place!
Michele Busen
This is my first visit to the new location and I couldn't believe it. It looked just like the old restaurant. Everything, right down to the tile on the floor, looked just like it was supposed to, just like it has for the last 80 years. The wait staff was there, the food was there, and all was right. Don't miss an opportunity to hit up a Nashville classic.
Michael Morgan
Took my brother, from out of town, for lunch and our Philly Cheese sandwiches were very good. Our waitress did a GREAT job.
Scott Fulmer
Very friendly staff and delicious peanut butter milkshakes!
Chuck Hargrove
New location is nice. Usual excellent service and tasty food. Holly was our server. Nice work.
Dillon Ocaña
This is my first time here since it has moved into the new place. So glad the Soda Shop is in better condition now. The restaurant was very clean and the food was very good. There was also a small stage with a guest performer who was amazing!
Evan Fisher
Awesome atmosphere, awesome food, very nice employees. Lemon Ice Box Pie is MONEY$$$$!!!!
Kurt Lepird
In from out of town, we look for the hidden gems and we found it. Or server Katie? Was excellent and took time to talk and make us feel welcome. I had some
Traditional southern things we are not able to get in the Midwest. Also topped of my vacation bucket list food banana pudding. Loved it all
Duane Watson
Burger was great! Fries were nothing to right home about, Chocolate Malt was superb and nice thickness.
Ambiance was great, and would defibrillator go back!
A.D. Jamison
First time going! Clean restaurant! Food delicious! Bathroom was clean. Milkshake was awesome. Great first experience!
brad bukfan
It's so-so southern food. You can get a better meat and three at cracker barrel
Bettye Sue Schwab
Love the new place! It's about 3 times larger. Had burger and onion rings followed by the best hot fudge malt on the planet! Kayla was a fantastic server. Thanks y'all.
Britany Stewart
We had the most wonderful breakfast there. Will be returning every time we come to Nashville. The chicken biscuits with eggs are to die for. Yum
Lee S
Great customer service, yummy diner food, and such a cute atmosphere! Parking was easy. Definitely family friendly, will certainly return!
Brian Ratliff
Great food great atmosphere doesn't cost you an arm and a leg
Lelia Sinclair Baldassari
I was having trouble with my medical insurance and was on the phone the entire time I was there. I was very embarrassed and apologetic and the waitress couldn't have been nicer. She was really great. The food was okay. I ordered my eggs over medium and they were over easy and I ordered my bacon crispy and it was not crispy. It really didn't matter The Taste was good and the service was wonderful and the waitress didn't mind that I was on the phone which meant a lot to me because I had to be on the phone! The breakfast rush was pretty much over so there was I think only one more table in there
Makayla Suehr
Really good I recommend the burger
light & sound
I miss the history and character of the old location, but the sides are still pretty good.
Daniel Galati (Gran Diose)
This place is excellent. Probably best place in all Nashville for a bite to eat with family, an afternoon date, a milkshake, or a seat at the bar with a old fashion feel. Best service too. Kind.
Livi lak
We had a fantastic breakfast here! So delicious, & the cheesy grits were my favorite. They have mimosas too.
Charles Boring
Great food, friendly servers, fast service. This is a great place to eat good Southern food. You will be well taken care of.
Jenny Casey
Great food and drinks, plus interesting history. They've done a lovely job preserving a wonderful piece of old Nashville that will hopefully be around for generations to come.
Lori Ivey
First time we've been there. It was amazing.
Food and staff were superb! Will definitely go back.
Joann Leatherman
Food was Great, Delicious!! I had a grilled Pork Chop that was excellent with Squash Casserole and Turnip Greens and it was cooked with flavor and to perfection 🥰!! Will return again!!!! …
P “PD” D
They have the Best French Toast and Pancakes!!!!! Banana's are cooked inside if you want Banana's. I had blueberries and Banana's and it was DELICIOUS!!!!!@
Sonyette Doyle
First visit. The French Toast was very tasty
Scott Payne
This is a great place! Not only were our milkshakes delicious and the service excellent, but the vibe is with you the minute you walk in the door. We'll be going back for a meal and not just dessert.
Robert Schenk
My wife and I visited her right before closing, so I expected the staff to be surly, but it was the exact opposite. Service was absolutely the definition of southern charm. They treated us like king and queen. We ordered an ice cream soda and the butterscotch milkshake. It was the best milkshake I have ever had, no exaggeration. I guess this is why this place has been here for so long. I definitely recommend.
Roxe Hurley
I was amazed when I ate here. The food is off the chain! The friendless of the staff and the cleanliness of this restaurant is unsurpassed. If you’re ever in Nashville, you need to eat here. You will not be disappointed!
Tyler Goodrum
Loved the ambiance of the place, the classic feel is extremely unique. The food was delicious as always, and the service was great. Definitely a place you want to experience if you live here or if your a visitor.
Linda Anderson
The new place sparkled with red and white tile. Lunch was good. I especially liked the biscuits and the big slices of pie. Parking is to the left of the building.
Mark Warren
This is a staple for Nashville and the area around the historic Exit/In. The food is excellent and the service is cheerful and enthusiastic. Our waitress was wonderful. The deserts are to die for. Stop in if you find yourself near and enjoy some traditional Nashville fare. You won't regret it.
Lauran Henderson
We went on a Monday and had the lunch special. The turkey and dressing was delicious! It came with 2 sides. My son and I split the BEST strawberry malt EVER! The waitresses were so nice and generous with the milkshake. We barely could finish the malt between us. We're happy to support an old school Nashville business.
x86 th3jesus
Great place for that 1950s meal your jonesing for. Floats, shakes, burgers, pie and even traditional Americana meals for breakfast and dinner. I found out after walking out they serve beer and that menu was located by the condiments at the table. Enjoy a trip back to the Future.
Jeffery Moody
My wife and daughter visited this place after visiting the zoo. I decided to try it after seeing it highlighted on Tennessee Crossroads. It truly lived up to its reputation. We all got a meat and two vegetables and it was VERY good. We topped our meal off with a strawberry milkshake and split it three ways, which was plenty. Very good! This is a must visit while in Nashville.
Dave Dotson
Great meat-and-3 menu
Fried okra was excellent
Hand dipped milkshakes and they bring the metal mix cup with your cup of delicious
We had burgers and it's just the right balance of meat and bun
We are coming back more often!
Marilyn Sobota
Very good. A popular place in Nashville.
Peter D Greaves
I still love Elliston Soda Shop. Provided it is not crazy busy, still one of my favorite places. Old style ambiance, I love the staff, the food is great. Service can get a bit dicey when it is busy. The breakfasts are great - easily as good as Wendell's or The Biscuit House in my opinion. Burgers are always top class, the floats are wonderful. Still one of Nashville's gems.
Pros: Location, great menu, try the breakfasts and burgers, ambiance, staff, quick service most of the time, good value.
Cons: Parking can be tricky at certain times, bring change for meters, service can be slow when they get busy,
100% recommended.
Jeremy Thompson
This place is great. The burger was perfect. The shakes are absolutely the best. One shake is definitely big enough to share if you are eating there, since they give you all the leftover that wouldn't normally fit in a cup.
William
Very good food but a little expensive.
Keith Brown
One of our must stops in Nashville! (Best Burgers in town!) We love the retro look and feel of this place. It could use an upgrade on some of the "painting, ceiling tiles, A good cleaning, etc" otherwise it would be a 5 star for us, But the staff is so nice and the food is so good you can overlook some things!
Denise Chalupski
What a great throw back! Love the original decor. Original floor tile, neon lights, and table side juke boxes. Hubby had chicken fried steak, eggs and gravy. I just had to have fried bologna. The chunk of bologna was huge! Eggs were cooked to perfection. Miss Linda gave great service as she shared the history of Elliston Place with us. Wish I had saved room for a slice of the pies that were cooking on the counter. There is a reason why you guys have been in business since 1939!!
Matt Collins
This is a really great old school diner that seems to have been around forever. I've eaten here several times over the years and have always enjoyed the food, folks, and ambiance. I usually gravitate to the burgers, fries and shakes, but they serve an excellent breakfast as well. Enjoy!
JOHN MUSTERMAN
Great atmosphere food and service!!! A trip back in time.
Paul Baxter
Burger and fries pretty good
Randy Coulter
Very clean! Fast friendly service and the food was so good!
Pamela Bennett
Our Women N Wine group went there last night. Great food and the best boozy shakes in town. Breakfast all day!!! And meat and 3!!!
Singer songwriters on Friday and Saturday nights. .
Missie Colson
Service and food is always great.
Mary Macchio
Fun, old fashioned soda shop. Good food, friendly staff. Best shakes!
Anthony M
Went to the Soda Shop my first time in years. My Mom used to bring us here and we would always come on Turkey and Dressing day. Well today that is what I ordered. The dressing had a little bit too much sage but tasted fine. The homemade potato salad was excellent and collard greens good. The lady who took my order was friendly and conversational. Great experience.
Damion Jackson
This is a good little place for an inexpensive good breakfast, the staff is very personable and friendly. Great place for families with kids.
Golden Triangle Sounds
Great service, great atmosphere, great food, and even better dessert. Definitely a place to visit.
Wendy Tidwell
Ordered online and my dinner order for five people was ready before I could drive the 6 blocks to pick it up! Everything tasted delicious and my order was totally correct. It's so easy to order online and pick up at the window.
Tracie Avila
Service was nice. Ordered breakfast. 2 eggs, sausage, home fries and toast. Was good. Went nuts and ordered a chocolate shake. It was amazing! Took forever to drink because it wss so thick.... and delicious! Only negative - The booth seats need to be redone. Was very worn out, and felt like the old lady behind the steering wheel. Saw the Saturday lunch special being served... looking forward to giving that a run on another day.
Allen Plummer
Good, solid breakfast at a Nashville institution. Eggs, ham, biscuits and gravy, potatoes, etc. Food is not stellar, but come for the authenticity and old school southern charm. The milkshakes are supposed to be great, but I've not had one. Stop by early for breakfast and grab a booth. Locals know the place well.
Vickie Honeycutt
This is the perfect place to take your family. If you remember the old time soda shops this place will bring back all those memories. The food is excellent this was our second time since they reopened. You will love it.
Kelly Marsh
Worth the visit for the atmosphere. Open since 1939 and it looks right out of the past (and you can tell it's age looking at walls and ceiling etc). We just stopped in for dessert after we had dinner elsewhere. My husband had a root beer float and I had a hot fudge sundae. Diner type service with some yelling back and forth going on, but it fit the environment. Both dishes served in the nice picturesque glass you'd expect. I wasn't impressed with the hot fudge in the sundae (placement made it hard to get to and it was hardly hot upon serving) so I'd order something else if I went again (probably a shake) but considering it was quick decent service, reasonable prices, cute cute place, I would go again.
Debra Sheridan
Stopped in today after a doctor's appointment at just between meals time. Barbie brought me coffee and a menu, showed me what breakfast items I could order after their breakfast time had passed and gave me time to decide. I chose the tuna melt, with American cheese rather than Swiss cheese. OMG! The sandwich came out beautifully grilled and the texture contrasts between the crunchy bread and the moist tuna salad with crunchy bits was Bliss!! The fries were the perfect blend of crispy outside, tender inside. By the time I had finished my sandwich the restaurant was filled up, with hospital workers, families, couples, and grandparents out with festively dressed grandchildren. The atmosphere was friendly, warm, welcoming. What a total experience treat! ❤️
MsIndy Red
Good food - southern style. Real mashed potatoes. Bacon in the green beans. Choice of cornbread or tiny biscuit. Horrible service. Waitress was really scatterbrained. Possibly new. Never got the gravy I ordered. Fries were delivered to our table instead of two down. (Maybe they got my gravy?). The drama was entertaining ... Someone wanted their pay on her day off and decided to walk in and try to take it right out of the cash register. (Hope it's the last pay she ever gets from this place.)
Brad McDonald
Dine here for lunch during workday. The service is pretty quick and the food is good. Love the thick-sliced bologna sandwich. The atmosphere is definitely that of an old school diner. We will continue to have lunch here.
Sandra Lewis Tanksley
Delicious burgers...known for terrific milkshakes!
Kinyahta McCord
The kids love it I do too they have really great breakfast and dessert haven’t had the regular food but it looks really Good
ek gjothesen
Had a quick breakfast here, and it was what you would expect from a small diner. I wasn't blown away by the food, but the service was nice enough, and a charming old diner building with original, although non-functioning music stations at each table. In hindsight, I should have ordered a milkshake, as it seems to be what they are known for.
Betty Reid
Servers and food were great. It's nostalgic going to the soda shop for we native Nashvillians. The new place serves it up just like the old days. A local treasure all dressed up.
Adam Jensen
Great Milkshakes and great video. Had a 3 patty Cheese Burger with grilled onions, and it was excellent. Loved their fries as well. I also love the fact that they haven't remodeled the place and stills looks the same as it dis way back in 1939, or at least I assume.
BoBeau Reagan
We took our six-year-old grandson there for his first soda shop experience. The service is remarkably outstanding here, and all the wait staff are very friendly to. The food is really good, the ice cream and shakes are superb!
Tim Curl
I have been traveling to Nashville and have eaten 3 different meals at Elliston's and all 3 we're awesome.
Alex Livingston
Excellent food, fun atmosphere, and friendly staff. This place is great!
Be sure to get a shake, too
Daniel Moore
Great classic American diner with good food and friendly staff. Not overpriced.
Colleen Haskell
Therapeutic and nostalgic. Reminded of a restaurant in my home town. I enjoyed the relaxing, 50's classic atmosphere. The food was exactly what I wanted; simple, good, and satisfying. The coffee was great. The service was excellent. I look forward to my next peaceful and yummy meal.
Jerry Harper
I go in there about three or four times a week and I’m never let down everyone is friendly and the atmosphere is great took me back to better times great food , the shake and fountain are to die for
Gama Armendariz
Breakfast was OK. The place looks awesome, and I’d still like to go back for lunch and dinner though. Over all, the experience was pleasant.
cynthia willis
Delicious, clean and nice people working here. Came here for the historical aspect. 83 years worth of clientele can't be too far off.
Mechele Neal
The location looks great! Plenty of friendly staff. Milkshake good as usual. Turkey and dressing was a little salty. Tomato salad was good.
Linda Polk
The mushroom sausage omelet if fantastic. I took half of it home. The flavors were more pronounced the next day.
Cota Walls
This was walking distance from where I stayed on a recent visit to Nashville. The breakfast was delicious and affordable. The diner is really cute and the atmosphere is very laid back. Enjoyed a great breakfast and I look forward to visiting again on a future trip!
Vickie King
Absolutely love anything retro and this restaurant is no exception. Food and service was excellent. The staff is very friendly. Good ole southern hospitality!
Maureen S
Wonderful dinner, great breakfast!
Alfonso Llamas
Love it. No trendy, gimmicky experience here. This place is the real deal for an authentic diner, soda shop experience. Like going back in time. Not only that, but awesome people work there and I just had to share our latest experience.
When we were finishing up our food, my 4 year old got a to go box for her half eaten hot dog she insisted on taking. We left the box on the table and went to the restroom. They thought we had left, so they cleared our table. When we came out she proclaimed her disappointment that the box was gone and I tried to explain to her and that it was ok it was almost gone anyway. The staff overheard her and insisted on making her a new hot dog and when we opened the box they had thrown in some fries for her as well. So nice of them.
Thank you Elliston Place Soda Shop!
Matthew Allsman
First time being here, and it was delicious. The only thing not as tasty would be the Mac N Cheese. The fried pickles were good, but could be fried a bit longer. The BURGER was indeed delicious, and the fries are definitely made in house! The place does look a bit dirty, but not like unsanitary clean. Idk how to explain it. Like they clean up, and everything is sanitized, but it definitely has an old look to it. Which is the kind of look they are going for. The old fashioned look. I also didn't see any bugs, lol.
Chris Turner
Good food for a good price. Nice nostalgic feel to it, definitely takes you back. Don't expect it to live up to the ranting and raving hype and go in just expecting a real nice home cooked meal in a vintage environment and you'll enjoy yourself.
Steve Komatsu
Hey historic soda shop reminiscent of Happy Days. It's been there for a long long time their bacon cheeseburgers are to die for. They make them fresh to order and a very very delicious. For dessert you must try the chess pie made fresh daily, it was so good I went back the next day and ate it again both the bacon cheeseburger and the chess pie I give it a 5 Stars excellent. The waitress Courtney was very helpful courteous excellent service
Terri-Anne Duffy
Love everything about this place. Barbie is the best. Thank you elliston place for giving me the best food and the best service. My mother visited me in Nashville and out of the 14 days she was there, she wanted to come back here so we ate 10 days here out of the 14 - says it all really!
Brent Stadterman
The food was good and we had good service. Like the old dinner look and feel.
Ryan Vogel
I can only speak for the milk shakes and floats but they were great and the service was awesome. Great place for that old timey vibe.
Skip Prather
Great service. I felt the portions on breakfast were a bit small for the price, but it was very good.
sierra campbell
Recently has a meat & 2 dinner there. Overall the food was the best part. Before dining I went to the bathroom which had bugs crawling along the floor. The service was great though. My food (chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes & buiscut) was great ...minus the buiscut. Tasted stale. Good price for the food though.
Christian Mays
Our order was messed up twice, service was mediocre at best. Food that was served was good and it had a great set up inside.
Cresha
Great staff, food, and atmosphere! Loved the fried pickles and burger! Definitely coming back
Phillip Chuor
My family love old diners with character. This place has history since 1939 and not what you expect. Food was delicious for me, my wife and the kiddos. Definitely will be back!!!
Chanda Scott
We loved this cute diner! The food was good but the Oreo shake was better!
paul matticks
What a fun and happening place. We went in for some sundaes and let me tell you they were huge and delicious. Worthy of a stop. Live music as well that wasn't overpowering.
John Williamson
Food was great with a lot of historic touches in the place. The soda floats were incredible as was the pie. I liked the plaques recognizing long-time customers and employees. Several over 50 years.
It could benefit from a good cleaning though.
Tammy Hewitt
Our first time here... delicious food, amazing shakes, cute atmosphere. Will be back again for sure!
Brandon Caples
My wife and I were in the area and stopped in for lunch. In the nearly 11 years that I've lived in Nashville, I've always known of Elliston Place Soda Shop but never dined here until recently--and I've been missing out. Not only is the atmosphere cozy and strikingly reminiscent of the soda shop's inaugural year--1939--but the food is comforting and delicious. My wife had the grilled chicken sandwich and a chocolate peanut butter milkshake, and I devoured the grilled cheese burger. It was all very tasty, not to mention easy on the pocketbook. I highly recommend this authentic and classic diner!
Krystal Lee
Yeah, the food is decent, however the service is a little underwhelming. I have been here twice and nothing has changed much. I had to walk a long way and was disappointed. Their bathrooms are HORRIBLE. they really need a renovation and re-opening. I don't really recommend this place for bringing other people. One person for a quick lunch is not so bad, but a crowd is not so good.
bobbie swann
Very friendly service, long wait. If your lunch break call in advance. Cashier super friendly, but kept wiping nose with back of her hand. Was there abt 20 min. She did rinse her hands to make ice cream soda. She made two sundaes and couldn't figure out the flavor, both looked alike ..so she sniffed using her nose (both sodas)..that she kept wiping. Paid for burger, I can not say if good. Her sniffling and wiping nose back of hand. Burger went in trash. People say the burgers are good..IDK
brian miller
Great menu and attentive counter service
Craig Kress
Stopped in for dessert. Great throwback atmosphere, friendly employees, clean.
Had Pecan Pie with ice cream and a Shake. They were both great! A must for everyone to visit.
JA Doty
I had a wonderful vegetarian lunch of white beans, lima beans, collard greens and corn bread, and every mouthful was just as wonderful as I had hoped it would be! However, the best was yet to come - scratch banana pudding. I was there for an early lunch, accidentally this time, but I'll do it purposely next time. The banana pudding is that splendid cooked custard kind and, when I took my first bite, the custard was still a little warm. Heaven, y'all. Straight up heaven.

Over a year ago my wife and I had a WOW experience here. Although I had intended to write a review, I misplaced the business card...and only found it this week. So, although this review is late...it is necessary as the wonderful experience lingers to this day. My wife and I are southerners, from Houston, and were traveling on business. We wanted to have breakfast at an old time independent restaurant...and located Ellington Place Soda Shop...which served breakfast. At first glance it met all of our expectations, sending us into the past...what we call "the good ole days". When we entered we were greeted in that friendly southern way that makes one feel as though they are family. We were seated, given a menu, and asked about breakfast. The waitress said that, unfortunately, breakfast was over. Our jaws dropped! We wanted breakfast. We explained to the waitress that we had specifically looked for and discovered Elliston Place...and only wanted breakfast. She saw our dismay...so she whispered to us that we should ask the manager. The manager arrived at our table. She was a very genuine "people person" who had managed the place for years. Her friendliness overwhelmed us. When we asked about breakfast, she said that, unfortunately, the grill was now only set up for their lunch burgers. But she knew how much we wanted breakfast, so she asked us to wait a moment while she checked the grill. She returned and told us that the cook was preparing burgers...but that she was clearing space on the grill and would prepare our breakfast herself! We were dumbfounded, and overjoyed! What a WOW experience. Keep in mind that we passed TWO chain restaurants in order to get to this small downtown eatery. And this is something that would NEVER happen at one of the chain restaurants. We had an absolutely wonderful conversation with her, in the old soda shop environment...but the best was yet to come. We had a breakfast fit for a lumberjack...prepared perfectly, including our eggs! The experience was one of those that you take with you...and lasts LONG after the actual breakfast is over. I've forgotten her name... but we'll never forget that simple WOW experience and the manager who provided it. This was worth a hundred breakfasts at Denny's, IHOP, or any of the other chains. I've NEVER had ONE memorable experience at any of the chains at which I am sometimes forced to stop...and I ALWAYS look for the mom & pop businesses wherever I go. This is where one might experience real life. FIVE STARS to you. And, further, I might mention, I read the negative review concerning the customer receiving a free meal because the restaurant was overwhelmed. In all fairness, the customer should have withheld the review until attempting the restaurant a second time. I am self-employed myself. With the unbelievably poor work ethic of today's millennials, and the total misunderstanding of the word "service" by the vast majority of them, there is no wonder that Ellington Place was understaffed and overwhelmed. This is more a comment on the sorry state of our society today than it is a comment against a restaurant struggling against corporate America and slamming the good folks who WERE there attempting to make this business work. Again...FIVE STARS FOR ME! Diamond Jim, Houston,TX

My family and I were looking for a place authentic to Nashville. We found Elliston Place on the Nashville Original Restaurants. This place will not disappoint!!! We had everything from burgers, fries, onion rings (awesome) to the meat and three, milkshakes, and fudge pie. This received rave reviews from us all!!!
Tarah Bailey
So cute! Good food!! & Super friendly staff!!!
Giuliano Scarsi
Do you want to leap back in time? This is the right place. It's been like this for ever. I personally don't go there for the food, I'm going there for two different experiences. Ambient, It looks like being in the 40s/50s. I feel like being in a movie. And for milkshakes. The best milkshake in town. Vanilla is my favorite but you have a great selection, plus you can mix them up.
Donna Carroll
The ladies serving were very nice. Food was ok. We had hamburgers and they were fresh and hot. The restaurant needs a good cleaning. The stools looked dirty and my bench seat had food and crumbs in the crack. The ceiling tiles had by water spots and looked like it could fall. Saw a roach cross the floor. Will not go back unless I hear they have cleaned it up. The novelity of the place can stay the same it just needs cleaning and freshing up.
Anna D
I've been eating breakfast or lunch here for 47 years, only once had an issue with service. Love the food, the diner ambience, but the (ahem!) amenities are barely 20th century. Best just hold it till you get to the nearest gas station.
Stephanie Scott
The new place is amazing. Bigger too! Food is excellent. Owner is extremely nice along with the other staff. Will definitely be back.
Michael Rose
Great menu, especially for meat and 3 and the milkshakes make almost 3 full glasses.
Joe First
This place has an extensive menu of old fashioned shakes and sodas, reminiscent of 50s and 60s soda shops. They also have a great menu of meat and three items. They're in their 80s year as a business and have retained they're old-fashioned and delicious ways.
Cristah Artrip Prost
This is the perfect place to take your kid for a milkshake. It's cringy only because I grew up with too many places like this, but it's your classic soda shop feel. AND it's been in Nashville for freakin' ever. I have been here probably 3-4 times. They participated in Burger week, which was good. But most importantly, I ordered a chocolate malt, and it was exactly what a chocolate malt should be..... heaven.
Bennett Guenther
Best diner I have ever been to. The service was the best of any restaurant ever I have been to.
Mary A. Fitzgerald
Excellent food, charming atmosphere, friendly and efficient server. Manager (owner?) stopped by our table to chat. Will be back!
Dl Fisch
We came here for ice cream and shakes and it was great! The banana split brownie was dig enough for 2. Classic old fashioned soda shop. The food looked great also and I'll be back next time to try it!
Ted Simons
Shared a great meat and three here with a friend visiting from Houston. Crew was extraordinarily friendly and provided us a great dining experience.
Alan Gray
Classic vintage soda shop. You do not find these much anymore. Great plate lunches. The best hamburger I have ever had. Full fountain service. Homemade pies. You name it. It's what used to be around all over the place when I was growing up.
Bryan Blubaum
I was very pleased with the burger and shake that I ordered. We were recommended this place by some locals as a neat old timey atmosphere with southern charm. I wasn't disappointed.
Christine Rivera
Great Mac and cheese and Fried chicken is soooooo yummy! Nice retro look and great shakes! Closed on Sundays!
Beverly Hargis
Wonderful delicious food! Great service. Very retro interior. Loved it
Steve Horning
Great service. Great breakfast. Cool atmosphere. Get a shake to go!
Julius VanGlorious
This place was wonderful. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was great and was on my table within minutes. I loved the classic diner decor. I will make sure to visit again next time i am in Nashville.
Tim Gee
Very nice place for breakfast.. many options. Friendly service.

Important Update:
This review was posted as a 1-star some years ago for the original location of Ellison Place Soda Shop, which had fallen on decidedly hard times. It is now under new ownership and has been fully revamped and restored. Check it it out! Stepping through the door is like stepping back in time.
Catrina B
I tried this place for the first time today....the fried chicken salad to be exact and I must say it was so delicious. The salad base was fresh, chicken was well seasoned, the cucumbers were the freakin best. I'll definitely eat here again. Oh and the oreo milkshake was sooo good.
Meghan V
Cute place, thank you for showing our family a good time. This place was well-staffed and they working hard--especially with that cool walk up window. We appreciate y'all.
Daniel Rowell
Fun diner feel with a lot of delicious options on the menu. Our waitress was friendly and very knowledgeable on the menu.
richard castricone
Great atmosphere and service was top notch food was good and reasonably priced.
Bryan Nye
We enjoyed our first visit to the Elliston Place Soda Shop in Nashville. My wife had seen the soda shop on an episode of the TV show Nashville and she has been wanting to try it ever since. It's important to keep in mind that they are closed on Sundays because we originally tried to visit on a Sunday but were unsuccessful. The food and the nutter butter shake that we enjoyed were all delicious. With fresh made pies and food that's made to order, the soda shop is a true historic gem of Nashville.

This place is historic to Nashville has been around very long time and still has the original look like the soda pop places had in the 1950s. Similar to the one on Back to the Future movie. Great milkshakes everything is fantastic

Arrived for pre-game meal - easier than Tailgating! Super large and great milkshakes. Can't decide between fried chicken & pot roast for dinner. Both are good.
