Reviews of Deacon's New South
Yvonne George DFW Realtor
Visiting from out of town and wanted a great place to eat! After reading the reviews here decided this is the spot we wanted to try. We had a late reservation and literally had our suitcases in hand because we didn’t have time to go check our bags, but the hostess let us leave our bags in the front. She was a little hesitant, but kind enough to let us do so.
For our appetizer we had the cornbread, but they overcooked it and it tasted burned. We didn’t want to send it back since we had a 9:00 reservation. I do hate that because the waiter recommended it and we were looking forward to trying it.
Next, we tried the Charcuterie board with our wine and it was just okay. Nothing too impressive, but was descent. I ordered the chicken Caesar salad though and it was very tasty! The steak was good, and for a side we ordered the cauliflower and Yukon potatoes. The cauliflower needed a flavor of seasoning or something because it was very bland. Overall, the service and the atmosphere was nice. I just think it was just an off night for the food. Would I try it again? Probably .

We were only in Nashville for one night and happened to look for a nearby restaurant from our hotel when we walked by Deacon’s and saw that it was packed so we went inside for a table and it was the best decision of the night. While we awaited our table, we were given a tour and education of their dry aged meats fridge by our server and that’s when the fun began. The entire experience was amazing and not a single dish disappointed. We shared 4 types of steaks, bone marrow as an app and a few sides along with drinks of course and it left a good enough imprint that we will def return again when back in town. Thanks!

A very good experience! Food was very good, and being a steak house, the steak was excellent. Be prepared to spend some money though, as this restaurant is pricey. Four stars instead of five as we felt the side dishes could have been a better portion for the amount they charged. Great food and service overall, we would recommend!

The food is spectacular. This was my first time having the roasted broccolini, and it was to die for. We also had the Tomahawk Steak with scallops added o top,it did take quite some time for them to cook it, and the waiter compensated our wait with a complimentary salad for the table. This steak is humongous, and it was delicious. For the amount of food that we had, it was definitely worth the price.

While vacationing in Nashville we decided to try this place based on our uber drivers recommendation. Our server was friendly and recommended what we ordered. We ordered the muscles, the fish, the porterhouse and a side of Brussel sprouts. The muscles were very different than I am used to with sausage but they were surprisingly very good except there were a few that had a very "ocean-y" taste that both my husband and I got a little concerned about. Our main course came out and my fish was tasty for the first few bites but then I realized when I was 3 bites in that just the outside was seared and the rest of the fish was completely raw. We brought it to our servers attention and she said she would have another made immediately. She ended up coming back very quickly with a new one because she said there was another one up for a table so she just grabbed that one for me. The steak was pretty good flavor wise but was a bit undercooked. The steak did have an aged taste which I haven't had before even with previously aged steaks. The Brussel sprouts were the best part of the meal. They were very good. I don't think that I would return here if we came to visit Nashville again.

It was a really nice meal. Really enjoyed it. We had deviled eggs, and great seasonal salad. Meat is their expertise and boy it was tender. The dessert was great too. Great all around restaurant.

Our server Jared was amazing. He was very knowledgeable about the food selections. I'll definitely be returning!
Drink: Afternoon Delight
Sharable Food: CRISPY BRUSSELS SPROUTS
MAC & CHEESE
FRIED CRUSHED YUKON GOLD
CORNBREAD
ALL very delicious.

Deacon’s treated us like gold. Where to even start…
My husband and I got into Nashville late on a Monday evening. It was a pit stop on our way to St. Augustine, FL, where we would get married the following Friday.
We walked into Deacon’s in our road trip clothes, about an hour from closing, and apologized for our dress and no reservation. They were very kind, and after about a 10 minute wait we were seated.
Before we even ordered, we were brought two glasses of complimentary champagne as a congratulations on our upcoming marriage. After a long day of driving and a few things not going as planned, this was such a kind gesture that we will always appreciate and remember! Plus, the bubbles were lovely.
Our entrees came and they were incredible. The pork shank was cooked perfectly, the pencil grits had that rich, comforting goodness, and the spicy crawfish pasta tasted like Heaven.
But the absolute STAR of our dinner was the shareable side of greens! They were tender, juicy, and seasoned to perfection. These are, without a doubt, the BEST greens I’ve had in a restaurant, ever. Period. No question.
What made the food even better though, were the attitudes of the entire staff. Everyone from the hostess stand, to behind the bar, to the servers, to the kitchen crew, looked like they enjoyed their job. Big smiles, lots of laughs, professionalism, kindness. It was so refreshing to see everyone in such a wonderful mood.
Dining is an experience, and everything counts. The food, the drinks, the atmosphere, the service, all of it. Deacon’s is doing something purely joyful and right for Nashville, and if you’re visiting or even local, do yourself a favor and be a part of it.

Service and atmosphere are amazing. Food has a little growing room. Dishes are interesting but not flavorful. We will try again. Hate to leave a low rating but it is factually. Not the best but not horrible. Enough the atmosphere.

A friend recommended Deacon's New South to us and I snagged one of two table that were left for our anniversary dinner.
Oh my goodness!! This place was SO yummy, friendly, professional, and an honor to eat at. We were seated next to the kitchen and had a blast watching the grill and the chef finish each dish. It was truly watching an artist.
The food was unbelievably good. We wanted a true steak restaurant for our meal and that was what we got. The drinks were good, the steaks were cooked to perfection, and the sides were amazing. Who knew that broccolini could taste like heaven?! We ended the night with cheesecake and even my non-cheesecake loving husband ate half of it.
When we come to Nashville again, we will be eating here. It was the capstone on a great vacation and SUCH a wonderful experience. Thank you Deacon's New South for being amazing.

Location is amazing. Steak was amazing. Service was amazing.
With all that said, I was still disappointed. I am OK with "new" when it's as good or better than the old. But I think they made a lot of the classics worse (i.e. grit cakes and fried greed tomatoes). But all of the appetizers and sides - I thought the seasoning was excessively heavy throughout. I kept having to go to my water to reset.
They allowed a large party of people that had reserved a room to basically take over a walkway that just happened to butt up against my table for over 30 minutes. Since I reserved my table 7-10 days in advance, I didn't appreciate the additional 8 guests.
Drinks were good, but definitely seemed more focused on their wine list than anything else. I expected more elegance for the prices we paid for the drinks.
Natalie Hardy
Not only is the food delicious, but our waitress Emily made my entire night. She was so kind and very knowledgeable about the restaurant and menu. She surprised me with a complimentary birthday cheesecake after noticing my birthday was soon after checking my ID! Such a sweet surprise! If you go to Deacons ask for Emily!
Veronica Z
Excellent service. Ryan was my server and he was great! He even gave me some Nashville history and suggested places to see. The food was delicious. Crawfish hush puppies were super good. It was the perfect way to start my trip.
Michael Milom
First, the elephant in the room. Deacon's South is expensive. If you are looking for a budget steak dinner, go someplace else. If you really want to experience fine dining, and if your budget can handle it, then Deacon's is the place for you.
The service is exceptional. The food is amazing. The drinks are fantastic. This easily ranks as one of the top 3 meals ever (and I travelled a LOT to Manhattan before the pandemic hit, eating at some of the best steakhouses in the world). Outstanding beef cooked perfectly. The bone marrow was succulent and as rich as you would expect. The sides were fantastic (the apple butter was like nothing I have ever tasted).
The bill was eye-watering compared to casual steak restaurants ($780 for 5 people, including plenty of cocktails and a generous tip), but it was worth every penny. If you can afford it, go for it! If not, save up. ☺️ Truly an amazing evening...
William Morton
Favorite steakhouse in Nashville and one of my favorite places to dine in this city. Amazing service, menu variety and price. Best value for price restaurant in the city.
I advise the deviled eggs, tartare and oysters for starters. Great burgers and steaks. I found the food quality to be much more higher than oak steakhouse which I just visited.
One knock is the ambience. However, by a more simpler surrounding you get higher quality food for less cost. A great place to go for a great, consistent meal during the week or for 90% of the reasons you’d want to go to a steak house. I’d save the special occasions for a restaurant with better ambience. A must try spot in Nash—great job Deacon’s!
Z T
Very attentive service. The braised beef was as good as it looks. The cornbread was very herby and sweet, I think it definitely worth the try. One less star only because the Brussel sprouts were soaked in sauce and not crispy as described on the menu. Parking was relatively easy, but the Uber garage is expensive IMO-fair warning.
Olivier Dardant
This has been one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had. Jarrod, my waiter, was wonderful the whole night! Incredibly entertaining, and made great suggestions. Started with the Cornbread, Pork Chop as my main course, and Apple Spiced Cake for dessert. Would recommend them all.
Luis Vaz
When I say this is some of the best food I’ve had in a long time I mean it. Pictures don’t do it justice, the Ahi Tuna and Slider appetizer wow! Unfortunately the entrees looked so good I didn’t even think about taking a photo because I was so excited. Their dry aged beef was amazing! The staff was so nice and friendly and I had a view into the kitchen and everyone in there seemed so happy and in their element! I would totally come back again!
Donny K
Probably the best steak I’ve ever had, service is on point. Great selection of wine and cocktails. Can’t wait to come back.
Warren Arnold
The food and service was top notch! The dry-aged beef was great with really good flavor!! The spicy crawfish noodles (added shrimp) was amazing, as well!! It almost had a little bit of a Thai taste to it. We will definitely be back!
stephanie wooters
Nice atmosphere, steak was cold, over priced for the food. Brussels sprouts were good. Just disappointed with the star of the show the steak. It was cooked medium but very cold
Had chocolate Ice cream it was more like ice milk.

After a long wait when we finally got our food it was so wonderful. The chicken was some of the best I've had in Nashville because it wasn't anything but fried with the sauce on it... I think the cooking style was sous vide first and then they deep fried or flash fry it.. And it had these pickled green beans on it that were amazing. The cheeseburger we also had was made of real steak and had the best flavor. And their french fries were great also. Because of the price this might be a more special occasion situation for some but if you're able to come here you won't be disappointed.
Our server Matt was super cool and positive and upbeat and helped make our meal even better. He at least made the weight not so bad. The way we did it was put our name down for a table reservation went away and came back so if you can kill some time waiting for a table it shouldn't be that big of an issue. For dessert we tried the key lime pie which had a passion fruit puree slurry on it that was unbelievable. We can't wait to come back and try this place again. Next time I'm going to get one of those monster steaks they have on my menu.
Brett Noecker
Deacons does not ever disappoint. If you can get a spot here, do it. All the steak options are the best. The cuts and flavoring are to die for if steaks are what you are into. Most importantly, you get great service and the wine selection is great.
Do yourself a favor and book it. Order a good cut of meat, I recommend the Ribeye. Bring your lady, or your best friends and enjoy your night!

Visited here on 8/1/21 and had an excellent time. My wife and I had their boneless strip steak, brocollini, and potatoes served family style. All tasted fantastic and our server Ryan was great. Hope to visit again sometime!
Edward Thomas
Cool atmosphere and friendly staff. My wife and I had a couple apps and sides. The carrots and brussel sprouts are amazing! The mussels were good. The duck drums tasted more like ribs than duck but in a good way. My wife ordered a Moscow mule and they served in a glass. My old fashioned was straight bourbon, needed a little simple syrup and a cherry. Overall I'd give this place a 4.4 out of 5.
Basil Issac
Great place with friendly staff. We felt the steak could have been cooked more evenly (some parts were well-done and other parts were almost rare).
Paul David
First time enjoying a delightful dinner at this establishment. The restaurant has a nice ambiance to it lighting and decor. The details in describing the food are spot on. They have a nice wine selection and the dry aged meat or something that you should not pass up. The 16 oz dry aged boneless strip was delightful. multiple layers of complexity within this dish. To half dozen oysters were great starters also.

We visited Nashville from out of town and decided on dinner here. It's not the cheapest steak place around, but we knew that going in and we wanted to eat some place nice. Well seasoned steaks, cooked to exact specifications. Tasty appetizers and sides. Highly attentive wait staff. Nice atmosphere. Definitely consider this place if you're looking for a nice steak place to take a date.
Karen Renata
This we’ll definitely be an odd review. I studied the menu on line and drove 2:47 minutes to meet my friends for a birthday celebration. When I arrived I was told by my friends, that the menu had changed but website had not been updated so the Brussel Sprout appetizer that I wanted was not available. We ordered the deviled eggs and corn bread as appetizers. The deviled eggs were sliced not the long way as most do but the short way with the fried chicken skin for garnish which was really tasty. We ordered the cornbread twice and the second batch was very salty... almost too salty to eat.
Now the entrees... and this is where the review gets quirky. It took almost two hours for our entrees and sides to get to the table. In that time our drinks were refilled but there was no explanation as to why it was taking so long. We ordered one 20oz steak and 2 pork shanks and we shared the sides- greens, Mac and cheese and Broccolichini. When asked about the wait, the response was, “we’re busy.” Not exactly the response you’d like to hear if you’ve ordered and hungry.
When the food finally arrived, the visual presentation was good, it appeared hot and the our noses were tickled- we were ready. We each tasted our enter first and were pleased, although for the sheer size of the pork shank there needed to be more grits. My dinner mate noted that the mushrooms and butter that accompanied the steak were very tasty.
Next the sides. They completely missed the Mark on the sides. The greens were HORRIBLE as they had some sweet berry flavor to them and NOT simply The potliker as stated in the menu. The mac and cheese was incredibly dry and not cheesy at all. The broccolichini was over cooked though the sauce was good.
Sooo with all that said, I would tell someone who wanted to visit Deacon’s to definitely order appetizers because the selection is varied and somewhat tasty and the entrees are definitely visually pleasing and make the palate dance. The side dishes might be a gamble so take caution and don’t set the bar too high... it is what it is. As my friend pointed out- it is the “New South”. Remember, they may certainly not be concerned with your time schedule or constraints so be prepared to wait and for a long time.
To the establishment, I would say you might want to revisit the “Old South” especially if you’re going to try to pull off greens...a staple of the South and Mac and cheese? Come on now?! Never dry! And must be cheesy or else why else attempt it... right? The sides are not good at all but the entrees were generally delightful.
Lastly, the One thing that was surprisingly ON POINT bar none... the friendliness of the staff!! From the moment I walked in and was genuinely greeted at the door with a smile and a friendly hello, all of the staff that I encountered were warm, helpful and knowledgeable. The staff was a definite plus!
So will I return? Definitely. Everyone has an off night and I’m hoping that was yesterday - an off day- but the next time, I will not wait two hours for my meal! That won’t happen again! If you go... let me know about your experience!

Service was excellent, steaks not so much. For it being a steakhouse they struck out 3/3 times with our group. We ordered the NY strip, bone-in ribeye, and porterhouse — all of which were inconsistently cooked and unseasoned.. This was not worth $80 a steak. The crawfish pasta was also undercooked. However, they were very apologetic and appreciated our feedback. Just not the fine dining experience we expected for my sister’s birthday.
Miguel Garcia
Over all love this place. The atmosphere of it and the food was absolutely amazing. Steak cooked perfectly and the drink i got call the vaccine... was as good as the waitress said it would be, tho I forgot the ginger piece and I ate it thinking it was some candy... well it wasnt

I was nervous taking my husband here for his birthday. We had just eaten at Kayne Prime the month prior for our anniversary. Deacon's absolutely blew them out of the water. The service was phenomenal. Our server made sure that we needed nothing. She changed our silverware before each course of the meal. We were able to watch them cook the steaks on the grill. The wall was glass and you could see everything being prepped. Everyone was tidy. You could even see how clean the subway tiles were in the prep area. We ordered the Kale salad, Crawfish Hushpuppies (outstanding), Filet, NY Strip, Glazed Brussel Sprouts, and Potatoes Puree. Everything was just out of this world, even down to the best croutons I've ever had. I wish I could remember the server's name because that was the best service we have ever had. Do not hesitate to get a table at this place for any event or occasion.

Delicious food and they made a magical and memorable Christmas Eve dinner for our party. The Pork shank is to die for, it’s a must try. The steaks are fantastic, really can’t go wrong with any, we had the aged bone in filet and rib eye. To start try the muscles.
Tina Riley
Absolutely amazing! The entire visit was so enjoyable, great atmosphere and service was awesome. I had the dry-aged short rib over sweet potato mash and creamed collards, it was wonderful. My husband had the shrimp and grits and he loved the dish, though it was one of the best shrimp and grits he has ever had. The couple with us shared the 20 oz.dry-aged Porterhouse; beautiful presentation and meat was so tender and flavorful! Finished the meal with an apple brown Betty that was insanely delicious! Thank you Deacon's for making my birthday extra special!
jamil hossain
Second time back. Our waiter was very nice and the food was exceptional. Really like the ambiance. Reservation was really easy and as we added more people they were very helpful with accommodating.
Cruz Nestler
Deacon’s is hands down one of the best spots to grab some amazing food and even better libations! I can’t even begin to describe how amazing my wagyu steak was. It came out on a cooking brick to finish cooking right in front of me. Their sides were fantastic and had so much flavor. Now, if you like me and have been chasing these EXTREMELY hard to find bourbons... you can try them ALL here. They have Pappy, BTAC, and so many other mystical illusive bourbons dying to be tasted. Absolutely recommend this place. Put them on your dinner schedule while in Downtown Nashville... you will thank me later.
Dr. Chris
I highly recommend this place. Sit at the bar if possible, Austin was working and he was the best. Very knowledgeable about all of the food/drinks on the menu. He answered any questions I had with ease and made the best old fashioned. Can’t wait to go back.
Dan AI6XG Koellen
We had a quick dinner before the CMA awards. Service was great, food was great, drink was great. My wife is very particular about the way her steak is cooked, they nailed it. Side dishes were very good as well. My snapper was very good as well. Highly recommended and enjoy

We were just taking a stroll on the block and Deacon's attractive exterior view of the bar caught our eye, so we figured we'd pause by to grab a cocktail. When we held the door open for some guests, the gentleman exclaimed "BEST STEAK EVER" unprompted so we figured we had to go for full dinner.
We opted for seats at the bar and received excellent and fun service from Troy and Austin.
The cocktail menu was fun, I opted for the Nashville Hot Paloma with Mezcal which was perfectly spicy in balance to the citrus and smokiness.
But the Food!
Caesar Salad was A+, the dill, green apple. and thin sliced crostini as croutons really set it off and elevated a usually classic dish
The sourdough and roasted garlic focaccia with sorghum butter and maldon salt was Killer. Perfect crust with fresh soft flavorful interior, would probably eat this every day if it was a good idea.
Dry Aged Ribeye and added Foie Gras on top. Flipping decadent in the best way. I love a good flavorful bone cut steak and this did not disappoint, perfectly crusted edges, I am glad we listened to the guy on our way in!
Jeff Davidson
Everything we had was wonderful. Our server BJ was so friendly and made us feel special. We wanted a variety of things so we had cornbread and deviled crab for starters which were excellent. Then we had Deacons mixed greens with steak and with shrimp. If the gigantic steaks the folks around us were getting were as good as the smaller portion we had, they not doubt were very pleased. Again wow. Just didn't have the appetite for a full steak that night. We finished off with the chocolate mousse cake. A great evening.
Romarico Perez
I ended going to this restaurant by recommendation of Youtuber... I went expecting to try the japanese wagyu or a dry aged stake.
Because of the pandemic they are not having japanese wagyu until further notice, so me and my wife decided to get the tomahawk.
It worth every single penny, the flavour quality and work done on the grill was just amazing.
Big stakes require longer time on the grill, so just keep in mind that it takes around 40 minutes until you have it on your table.
Grilled oysters were very flavorous and the caesar salad was good. In my personal opinion the sides could be a little bit bigger other than that it was a very good experience, is weird to find a place with good food and friendly staff.
Marshall Capps
Located at the base of the old L&C Tower and for those few of us who have grown up in Nashville,,, a bit of nostalgia. Service was excellent. Drinks were top drawer and the aged steaks were terrific.
Juan Fernández
Overall dinner was good. The apps and side dishes were amazing. But one of the steaks and the burger were a little dry. I tipically don't complain when that happens but when you pay $58 for a steak a la carte you expect it to be almost perfect and the one steak and burger weren't.
Kaitlyn Douglas
The food was decent but definitely not worth the price. STK or the 404 kitchen is a better option if you are looking for a really nice dinner worth your money.
Chris Combe
Great new place, tasty food and drinks. Steak was under seasoned (bland). We arrived early with the place empty and we were told we could only sit at the bar since they were booked out, even though we ate our meal slowly, there was only 2 tables being used. I'll put that down to New restaurant jitters / teething problems.
All in all I enjoyed it but it was a tad pricey.

The experience at deacons was unlike any other!! We were pleased with all aspects of the evening..decor, food, and food quality. First off the parish shrimp was the take away of our visit..absolutely amazing!! a full on salsa in your mouth-so good we will b making it at home for our family & guest.
We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Our waitress didnt look overwhelmed but it did take her a while to start our evening and quite a while in between..but nevertheless still was amazing. Drinks didnt wow..my wife had a mojito-it looked sad & lacking the usual vibe that accompanies this cuban favorite..my wife thinks it was basil in it instead of mint-we laughed and learned something that eve..basil is the cousin of mint...soooo-I guess u can sub it- but not in a 4 star restaurant for $10+!
Beside that and waiting on water which my grandmama says "is the 1st sign service will b poor or lacking, when u have to wait or ask for more.." but refusing to allow that to ruin our evening we enjoyed ourselves immensly!
Victoria “Kit” Curl
We were recommended this place by the front desk agent at our hotel. From the appetizer to dessert, everything was great. I’m writing about a visit from about 2.5 months ago so it’ll be hard to remember the exact entrees ordered. I had a filet mignon, that was not my first choice but it was cooked to perfection and very flavorful! Awesome service. The waitress was really helpful.
Robert Warren
Actually very disappointed in our meal. The filet was not tender at all, fries were not hot and the other people in our party had similar issues. The restaurant is clean and was really nice and the service was good but when you pay the prices you pay there your food needs to be great as well. I've had a lot of filet and I've never had one so tough, and it was medium rare... I'll have to think long and hard before I go back to this restaurant.
Update: The owner of the restaurant reached out to me asking for more details of our meal. I did respond via email and we had a nice exchange regarding my visit. They really do care alot about their patrons and expressed a sincere apology for how my dinner did not meet our expectations. They have taken my experience and are going to make sure that their processes and quality are where they should be. It's refreshing to see a business owner take their patrons seriously and want to make things right and I have decided to definitely go back and give the restaurant another opportunity. Everyone and every business can have a had day and the concern they showed regarding my visit is reason enough to try again. I greatly appreciated them reaching out to me as they did. I will update this again once I have had a chance to try it again.

NOTE: I returned to this restaurant last night and had a completely different dining experience. Please read updated review.
I had been anxious to try this restaurant so I took a prospective client on a weekday afternoon. The ham salad appetizer was so salty it was inedible, however the pimento cheese was decent. I was so excited to see Brussel sprouts in the menu, but instead of Brussel sprouts, I was served a bowl of overly sweet dates with literally two Brussel sprouts floating on top. Our server never asked how our meal was, if we wanted anything more not paid us much attention. Needless to say, they weren’t busy. This place was a huge disappointment. I should have heeded the warning when one of their distributors even told me it “wasn’t that great.” So many restaurants to choose from in Nashville, take a hard pass on Deacon’s.
UPDATED REVIEW:
I dined here about 4 months ago and was inclined to write a poor review because the food, service, and overall experience was sub-par. I decided to give Deacon’s New South another shot. I did hear that there is a new chef and that has apparently made all the difference in the world. I might even go as far as to say this was the BEST meal we’ve had in Nashville in a long time.
The pork belly appetizer was braised to perfection. I ate everything on the plate down to the compressed apple. Excellent dish.
Steaks were cooked impeccably (I had the NY strip, Jason had the filet). I eat my steak rare and the seer on that cut couldn’t have been better. I’m not easy to please when it comes to a steak...just ask my husband. Oh, and opt for the flight of side sauces for $7: Corsair barrel-aged steak sauce, horseradish cream & tallow butter — awesome sauce (literally).
Brussel sprouts...over the moon and recipe obviously changed with the new chef. Pecans, roasted grapes and brown butter vinaigrette? Such creativity! I am a firm believer in Brussel sprouts and this dish gives Maneet Chauhan’s Tànsuõ Brussel sprouts a run for their money. (Note: there should be a Brussel sprouts cook off somewhere!)
Whipped Yukon potatoes were silky and heavenly. I’m not even exaggerating here!
We ate at the lounge bar and Austin was a very good cocktail steward of the classics.
I am pleased to update my review and encouraging my friends and colleagues to definitely give Deacon's New South a try. We are more than pleased with this experience! Bon appetite, y’all!

Decided to treat myself to a nice meal whole on business in Nashville. Saw the reviews of this place and figured I'd give it a try since it was close to my hotel.
I ate at the bar. The service was good, both bartenders were friendly and attentive. The food was very good. My bone in New York was excellently prepared and the potatoes were creamy and delicious. If I'm in town again, I'd absolutely come back.
Robert Oswalt
Staff was very knowledgeable about each dish and the origin of the food they served. Food and cocktail were great.
Jamie Johnson
Last night of restaurant week originals with my girl abby and it was incredible....the salad the cheese tray the entrees and low and behold the pear dessert. I have zero to complain about here. Customer service 5 star meal 5 star ambiance perfection....I love this place and I'll definitely highly be recommending this to all of my many guests!!!
Charity C
Do yourself a favor and try the dinner menu here. From the time you walk in you receive smiling faces and superb service. We tried the gulf prawns, roasted cauliflower, seared diver scallops, and the porterhouse steak and everything was delicious!!
They serve on a rotation, and each person we interacted with was gracious and made some great recommendations. If can’t wait to try brunch next!
Carissa K. Seidl
We enjoyed dinner last night at Deacon’s. Every piece of our dinner experience was incredible. Our server Brittany was friendly and fast. Watching the steaks cook was so cool. We had the braised beef and the pork, and we cannot wait to go back again to try the steaks, the burger, and the hot chicken. We had a few of the signature drinks also and the Jolene was top notch. This restaurant real quickly became one of our absolute faves in this town!! Keep up the great service and great menu! We will return very soon!

Every bit of our experience was flawless.
The ambiance & noise level is great. The service was friendly & quick. Our server, Abbie was very personable. We advised her that it was our anniversary, so they provided us with a free champagne.
The steak was delicious, perfectly flavored & perfectly cooked. The sides… omg! Mac N Cheese was the best I have ever had. We killed our entire meal. Absolutely no complaints. Being from Tampa, our steak expectations were high and they exceeded it.
Abbie really did add to the experience. She very clearly loves her job.
Rick Petri
Very cool place. Great bar and decor, nice booths, and great service. The burger is probably the dish to get but I went with the chicken sandwich, it has a great pesto on it.
Kimberly Eissens
Matt was our waiter. He was the best! The manager showed us southern hospitality at its finest. The food was delicious and drinks were just as yummy. I got the cucumber margarita... try one or two!
La Na
Great food and service! The Brussel sprouts were amazing
Boen Leann
We have been disappointed with the food here in Nashville..... But this place is literally amazing and worth every penny!!!
Frank Clarkson
Such a great experience with some amazing food. The filet was cooked perfectly!
antoinette hansen
Came here on a Friday night with a friend and everything was fantastic! Had the cornbread as an appetizer, filet as an entree, and potato purée and zucchini as the sides. Sarah was our server and she was awesome!! Definitely going back
Paul Ryan
Definitely recommend the ribeye. The meat was seasoned perfectly and there was a ton of flavor. You can skip on dessert, but the steak more than makes up for it.
Erin Ann
We went to Deacons On a Saturday in Nashville. Perfect experience our server Matt gave us many “steak updates” we love him he was awesome. Awesome vibe amazing food. 10 out of 10 ❤️

An outstanding experience right from the very start. This is how I would describe my first visit (03-13-2019) to Deacon's New South. I was skeptical, at first, to visit this restaurant due to the fact that it is under the same ownership as the Puckett's Restaurant across the street, which is where I've had poor service, lackluster entrees, and poor management experiences over the years.
On the contrary, Deacon's New South was the complete opposite. The hostess and restaurant manager were greeting every customer that came in, and provided a heartfelt welcome. My server, Matt, is definitely one of the top 1% of servers in Nashville. He knew the restaurant menu like the back of his hand and provided excellent recommendations. He was always within view of his guests and quickly provided for their needs. His service partner, Jacob, was equally available and helpful. To top it all off, the manager stopped by just to make sure the meal and experience were perfectly executed. This team knows how to run a restaurant.
Regarding the food, I tried the Berkshire Pork Chop as recommended by my server. I was blown away by the presentation and taste of the entree. The pork was done perfectly and accompanied appropriately with sweet potatoes, pork belly roast, and chard. It was one of the best pork dishes I've had in a very long time. Kudos to the chef!
If you haven't tried Deacon's New South, I recommend you give them a try. Remove any preconceive notions you may have about a Puckett's dining experience. Better yet, Deacon's really should not tie themselves with Puckett's as the name itself is only bringing their image down. Nevertheless, if you're hungry for chef-inspired dishes and are longing for excellent service, head to Deacon's New South.

Great experience. Austin was great, he was very attentive and helpful. We had the rib-eye and it was delicious. Highly recommend
Sean Ramzei
What a a great place in Nashville, Must go resturant in music city , Amanda was our server , she was great and explain every single ingredients of meal , Rabee who is especial in steak and what a marinate for tomahwalk steak , it's a lots of meat good for 3 adult , while its a real wooden grille so it's better some good appetizer cause it take at least 30 to 40 min for steak ( which it worth it ) cause it's not a FAST FOOD , it's real Resturant with Real juicy tender steak highly recommend it, defenaitly going back for their famous brunch .
Erica Beasley
Steak was AMAZING!! Very flavorful and juicy! Will return if we visit Nashville again!
Amy Robertsonsmith
The staff is a true delight, Dre was wonderful. We loved the food, especially the scallops and the salad, but the skillet yeast rolls....yum.
Cheryl Pullin
What an incredible dining experience! The entire staff is so amazing and thoughtful about the time that you spend in their beautiful restaurant, which adds to the overall experience. The food is beyond excellent! Highly recommend. This is THE spot for the best steak you could ask for!
Mark DeMore
This place was fantastic. The service was well above average and the atmosphere had a nice downtown feel to it. It was too loud, so we could all hear one another.
We ordered every app on the menu. They were all delicious, so there's no going wrong with any of them.
Some of my friends had the crafted cocktails which are always overpriced. They are here as well. Not to say they're not good, but pricey.
I went with the filet, which was amazing. My one friend had to send his back because it was extremely undercooked. Other than that everyone's meal was great. We had a psrt of 8 so things can get missed in the kitchen.
Kenneth Stem
Fantastic upscale restaurant. I had a filet. It was delicious. I was with a large party from work. We got numerous sides and all were very good. Their cornbread is also good and different. Our server did a very good job and was personable. I will be taking my wife soon. She will love it
Kayne Phillips
Orleans shrimp were OK but don't expect bbq shrimp like you would get in New Orleans, had a little too much citrus for me and was served with sour dough crisps instead of soft bread that would be better for dipping. Shank and steak were good, potatoes were a little bland. Collards tasted like they had balsamic in them, different but not bad. Grits were OK but needed quite a bit of salt and pepper. Not a bad dinner but not sure it was worth the price.
Kristin Holley
Absolutely the best steak I have ever eaten. Great atmosphere with super friendly and helpful staff. Our waitress was AMAZING, super patient with me while ordering and answered all of my questions without hesitation. I highly recommend this place. Thanks Deacons for making our anniversary dinner the best♡
Renae Griffith-Deal
Deacons happened to be across the street from our hotel. OMG, I'm so glad it was. Hands down, the best food we have had in Nashville. The collard greens should be against the law. Our steaks were cooked to perfection. Our server ABBY was above and beyond. Having to deal with Celiac...I usually look at the menu and choose accordingly, tonight was the first time a server asked if there were any food allergies. She was very knowledgeable about food allergies. She showed me what I could/could not have. She even came back to let me know, one of the items we ordered did have soy sauce (a major allergy for me). I was blown away by her knowledgeable, professionalism and drive to go above and beyond.
Jamie Buttigieg
Great food and service. I visited Deacon's twice during my recent visit. John was very helpful. They have a great selection om food and beverages and they age all their meat inhouse!!!
Jamie Hill
Yet another restaurant in Nashville that’s just…fine. More pretentious than they have the right to be. The high prices are reflected in the atmosphere and the presentation. I had the beef and scallops, the crawfish pasta, mussels, and fried green tomatoes. Nothing tasted that great. Beef was kinda chewy. They were super skimpy on the crawfish, like one crawfish diced into tiny cubes for the whole dish. The mussels weren’t fresh and came in basically garlicky bath water. Can’t really complain about the tomatoes, those were good.
It all summed up to being fine but not worth spending the money on.
Story of my life in Nashville.
Cierra Derek
Delicious food. Great service. We came on a Sunday night with our two kids who are both under two at opening to avoid crowd. They were very accommodating and made a kids portion meal for my two kids to share. This is a great date night or outing with friends restaurant because it's so beautiful.
Food:
-Cornbread - excellent! Get it!
-Mac n Cheese- just finished my leftovers and just as creamy and delicious as before. Recommend it!
-Oyster Mushrooms- You can't go wrong with these. Glad we order them. They were delicious.
-Braised beef- Good stuff!
- green leaf salad with chicken - love loved it
- kids grilled chicken and fries- their fries are really good. I would eat everyday as a snack lol
Greens- we weren't too thrilled by these, but well seasoned.
For dessert we had the banana bread pudding and the cream brulee. The bread pudding is enough for two people. We didn't care for the ice cream it came with. The creme brulee was just ok.
J B
Aged steaks, fresh gulf fish, collard greens and an extensive wine menu! Absolutely 5 stars!
ESB III
Downtown restaurant which had tables available at 8pm on a Friday night. Hamburger is a combination of beef and pork. Despite a small crowd the place was very noisy. The fries are very heavily seasoned and caused me a bit of heartburn.
Sheryl Eder
Delicious food, unrushed. One of the few places I visited in Downtown where you can have a meal and a conversation without having to talk over the music.
Laurel Tilley
Everything here was awesome. The food, drinks, and service, all top notch. The pork shank was especially wonderful. My only note is that the drinks were a bit small with a lot of ice, but that didn't stop me from ordering multiple. It was our first time visiting and 10/10 would dine here again.
Ian Gensler
Matthew was one of the best waiters I have ever had at a restaurant and he made our dinner start to finish more enjoyable with his expertise with the menu and personality. While everything we ordered was delicious, the broccolini is a must have….for all the years I have had it, I never knew it could be so good when prepared right. Will definitely come back for a special occasion! Thanks Matthew!
Day B
Went here two weeks ago with my wife. Absolutely delicious she ordered the filet Mignon medium rare. I ordered the the porterhouse medium. Both were absolutely delicious. The dessert was perfect as well the key lime pie sorbet with strawberry Ice cream and Vanilla ice cream complimented each other wonderfully. Taste just like the real thing. Best steak I’ve ever had in my life seasoning was excellent. 5 stars all day. Waitress was excellent as well.
S Brown (Janays87)
Drove up from Huntsville for the weekend. Abby our server was great. My friend had red snapper and brussel sprouts. I had the crawfish pasta and collard greens. The food and service was
absolutely delicious. Also- Some Like it Hot cocktail was 🔥🔥🔥! We will definitely be back!
Katherine Rhead
A great nice dinner to anchor our weekend stay. The food was fantastic. The drinks were superb. Excellent meal in the downtown area. Be sure to snag weekend reservations early. This place was also very popular with bachelor parties having large steak dinners.
Kevin H
First time here... Brooke was awesome at the lower bar. We had the burger and fish plates. I would definitely visit them again if I had the chance!
Cuzzo
Food and service was delicious, we had a great time and will definitely return
Emily Avadikian
Across the street from our hotel and very good! Service was wonderful, and fast! We got a steak and they were able to split it. Collard greens were seriously so good. Drinks were not super strong but not weak either. The time machine cocktail tastes like dessert. If we lived in this area we would so be back. Thank you!
Christy Beattie
Lovely staff. Food was amazing. We went for the steak but the oysters we had for an appetizer stole the show. Highly recommend the broccolini and macaroni and cheese. Crawfish pasta was mouth watering. Oh! And the ribeye was top notch. Perfect for an anniversary date!
Alex Williamson
The best 🥩 steak I have ever had truly amazing taste dry aged porterhouse was the best ever. Service was perfect and so was the atmosphere. Get ready it's expensive but worth every penny. A have to go back steakhouse next time I come back. All in all ten out of ten all around perfect. …
Anthony Flemons
Very Nice server! We arrived a little late with no issue. No valet so come a little early. Decent selections of wines by the glass, great selection of bourbons. Every day drinkers and some unicorns. Food over all was good and well presented. My dry aged Strip was tasty but a little past medium, but still a good steak.
Over all the pacing of the food was a little slow for my taste but probably is intended that way. Over all a really good meal.
c turner
From drinks and appetizers to dessert, everything was outstanding! Our service was superb and the food was amazing.
Highly recommend the Orleans Parish Shrimp, dry aged porterhouse and the wagyu. Also the Brussels were delicious.
Was the best ambiance to celebrate a birthday!
Jeffrey Stowell
We went to Deacons for our engagement party because they were the only restaurant that could do a large party on a short notice. Let me tell you, what a FIND!!
Service was absolutely wonderful all throughout the meal. She was not only extremely pleasant, but also present without being annoying. She would periodically come by and ensure everyone was taken care of, and did it effortlessly. All of us were very impressed with her.
Now to the food. We had a large party as I mentioned, and we got a large selection of the menu between all of us. This allowed us to truly sample all the menu had to offer. All of the vegetables were seasoned and cooked to perfection!! The Mac and Cheese.... dear God. It was on of the best of the bunch. Let's not forget the carrots too!!! Yummy all around.
The main courses, just wow. We had a large sampling of Wagu steak, wagu frites, fried chicken, white fish, and dried aged steak. All of it was just wonderful. Seasoned to perfection, cooked wonderfully, melt in your mouth perfection.
My personal favorite was the 16oz boneless strip. Simply the BEST thing I ate all meal. Flavorful, juicy, melt on your tongue, AMAZING!!!
The restaurant is beautiful. The location easy to get to. The view from the tables are stunning. If your a native to Nashville, or a tourist looking for a fantastic place to eat, do yourself a favor, GO HERE!!!!
Kendall Phillips
Yum!! We’ve wanted to go for weeks and it was worth the wait. The food and service was top notch. We each got each got pastas to split and were blown away. Definitely recommend, 10/10.
Tara/Jeremiah Alexander
Deacon’s New South was the first place we ate at in Nashville for a birthday dinner...let me tell you, it is hands down the best steakhouse we have been to. My husband and I were blown away from the get go. Matt was the best server we could ever ask for (very knowledgeable and friendly) and Brittany was a fantastic bartender (coming up with drinks on the fly to fit my personal preferences). Matt walked us through the menu and gave us recommendations along the way...all hits.
If you like charcuterie, it’s a must try here. The accompaniments they have are worth it in themselves. We also have never had a better steak before. Do not leave without trying a dessert, we tried the apple crisp and were not disappointed.
We are here for a long weekend and are already sure we will be disappointed to stack the other restaurants up against this place-but we will absolutely be back the next time we are in town!!
Ester
Food was great, waiter was great and knowledgeable, but we waited over an hour to get our dinner. Oysters were really good, broiled and raw. Prawns were also delicious. We ended up cancelling the steaks and halibut, after waiting over an hour. Again, the waiter was fantastic. It has to be a miscommunication within the kitchen staff. We'll return again with hopes of a better experience.
barry kaplan
What a beautiful restaurant with great food. Our waiter Dave was a pleasure and very helpful. The cornbread in a hot skillet is a must. The acorn squash with sorghum candied pecans and lots of love was amazing. Shrimp and grits was the best I've ever had. Not spicy but so flavorful. Shrimp are firm and juicy. Steak was just OK. Came undercooked. Great wine selection. We had a special meal then walked one block to Printer's Alley.
David Baine
Started our meals with what I would call a perfect Old Fashioned. I was very impressed. We then head steaks and sides. I had the Ribeye. It had a lot of fat compared to what I'm use to for a good steakhouse. That said, it was tasty. The service was great. The only reason a 4 vs 5 was the extra fat on the steaks.
Zack Schultz
My wife and I went here last weekend while visiting Nashville. The food was incredible, as was the service. Savanah was our server, and she was awesome. Food was amazing. I had the 9 oz filet, and my wife had the Wagyu Frites. Delicious!
Jackie Ott
I reserved a table for 16 at Deacon's New South for a bachelorette party. The food was fantastic, the wait staff was so attentive, and the overall ambience of the restaurant was amazing. I would highly recommend Deacon's for individuals trying to book a reso for a large party. They were more than accommodating for our big group and the food was phenomenal - it was our favorite reservation of the weekend!
Tammy K
Food was delicious. Deviled eggs were alright but the pork shank and steak were amazing! Didn't have wagyu at the moment but I would go back and try it, when they do. Restaurant can get loud at times, so if you're looking for a quieter fine dining experience, maybe try another place, or on less busy nights.
Ricarlos Brantley
My wife and I decided to come to the restaurant after being on the highway for seven(7) hours. I ordered the 20 oz ribeye medium with braised collard greens, I got my wife the pork shank on grits and everything was delicious. The service was great, and we shall return and hopefully I can bring or send some friends.
Aota
Not worth the cost, food was just okay. It took over an hour to get our food and some of the items came cold. My steak was over cook and dry. I have been to much better steak houses in Nashville.
Joe Modzski
We had a wonderful dinner, the food was what you would expect at the price point, which isn't a bad thing. Our server was lovely and pointed us in the direction of their 3 layer mousse cake for dessert, it was on another level of delicious.
Nancy Hayden
Well executed Covid plan in place for indoor dining. Outstanding service by Benjamin. The food was well prepared to order. Our party split the oysters as an appetizer. Wonderful. The collard greens served with the fried chicken were some of the best I have ever had (that is saying volumes from someone that grew up in the South). Would definitely come here again.
Erin
We've been to Deacon's many times and have never been disappointed. Service, food and atmosphere is top tier. The food... my goodness its great. I have celiac so I'm 'that girl' that can't have wheat and they are always so nice about it. We've had the same waiter/bartender a few times and he's personable, kind and great at his job. When going out, Deacon's is always top of our list.
Sarah Sheets
What a great place! Love the look and feel of the place. Everyone we interacted with was so nice to us! Our server was great and so fun! We had a larger party and everything was perfect. The food was seriously so on point! No one had anything left on their plates by the end of the meal. For the freshness and quality of the food I thought the service and delivery of our items were right in line. I ordered their 30th Floor cocktail and it was out of this world! Everything tasted so good! We will be returning for sure!
Robert Lamanna
I had the bone in striploin, it was great. The sides all tasted like bacon. Decent steakhouse.
Lesley Paone
I met a client here for dinner and had a great time. The food was excellent and the service was as well.
We all had steaks for our main course and everyone seemed to love them. I really appreciate that they put a salt crust on their steaks, it gives them more flavor than one just thrown on a plate.
The sides were nice as well, they are big enough to share between 2-3 people.
Shari R
What an AMAZING staff and meal! We came in 1.5 hours before they normally serve steaks (lunch menu was being served). When we shared with the waiter that we really wanted a steak, they obliged our request! Not only did we get our bone-In ribeyes, the staff bent over backwards to make sure our meal was great! I cannot express how pleased we were with the staff!!! Abby and Jake were OUTSTANDING! We will definitely be back!!!
Michelle Seghers
Savannah is an amazing bartender and made my 50th birthday celebration one to remember. Their drinks and dessert were soooo good!
Ron Brown
The food here was delicious. We started with the pork belly app and then three of us had the rib eye steak for our main course. We added some sides to that including the mac and cheese which was absolutely delicious and highly recommended by our group. We also had the mashed potatoes and the brussel sprouts and we had no issues with those; standard steakhouse sides. Our waitress, a fellow new englander, was fantastic and recommended some great wines. Cant comment on the desserts as we had no room left over for those but overall we had a great dinner and I recommend checking it out.
Eric Swenson
Underwhelming. The drinks were great and the skillet yeast rolls were awesome. Scallops needed more flavor and the steak was lacking seasoning. We had squash, marble potatoes and cauliflower sides were all average. Okra was good. Service was friendly.
Prick
This place was absolutely amazing. Came here from.Tampa during Valentine's day weekend. They have excellent views of the city. The waiter Matt was a delight to be around. He was very familiar with the menu. Also had a few good stories. As an appetizer we had the short rib which was excellent and for dinner I had the Bone in Filet. The filet was really good. Cooked to perfection with the right amount of seasoning. Deacon's New South was a wonderful place for me and my wife do to spend Valentine's day. Thank you for all the hospitality and grat food. I will be back.
Benjamin Torres
Best food I’ve had in Nashville. The pork shank had such an interesting combination of flavors. My parents got The Crawfish noodles and the mussels and those tasted incredible as well. Our server, Abbie, was so accommodating and sweet. Really upbeat service and I fully plan on coming back here next time I am in Nashville. I very rarely give reviews but felt the need to this time around.
Kathy
My husband & I had dinner at Deacon's New South this past weekend while vacationing in Nashville. This is an upscale restaurant, but not so stuffy that you can't dress casually. The service was great. I swear I had the best steak I have ever eaten and my husband loved his grouper. I ordered a side of collard greens which was an ample portion for both of us. We also had a meat & cheese appetizer, which came in a very generous portion and impressive presentation. They make this wonderful pepper jelly, which I wished they would bottle and sell. This is a quality restaurant and you will not be disappointed.
Grace Bauer
At the peak of the lunch shift, around 12:30, Alyson was our server and was fantastic! The host and manager both stopped by our table multiple times to bring us waters and help us get started. We got an appetizer, 3 entrees, and 2 additional sides, which were all delicious and delivered in a timely fashion. After our meal, Alyson explained the inspiration behind the flavors in the food, gave us a tour, and told us more about what they prepare in house. Definitely a great experience, I will be back!
Ken Gratz
A comfortable, modern and contemporary interior surrounds you with wood, metal, concrete and glass. It is not attached to a hotel, so it wasn't too terribly busy, not too loud for a Sunday night. Waitstaff attentive and quite nice overall, despite one lengthy wait for after dinner drinks. Food was well prepared and tasted very nice. I had a salad to start and the short rib for my entree. The beef had a wonderful thin bark on it which gave every bite a nice texture to compliment the tenderness within. Will come back when I make it back to Nashville.
laura mellinger
Such an amazing experience! Abby our waitress was on point with all of her recommendations, food was amazing, and and unexpected surprise was when Jehu (Jay) somehow found out from the reservation that It was our friends birthday and brought her out a dessert.
Pam Anderson
A must visit if you’re in Nashville. Probably one of the best meals we’ve ever had. Our server Jarrod was great. Pork shank was fall off the bone, Ribeye, Mac and Cheese and Smashed Potatoes were out of this world.
Wes
This is a gourmet restaurant. Excellent food, service, and ambiance. Would go again, worth it.
Maricela Rodriguez
Awesome place was the first time have a dinner there,l went with my 2 kids and we thought it was a place jus for adults because when we see the menu we didn't see for kids, and we was worrie about what our kids would eat but the lady that who was taking care of our table was really pretty nice she quicky offer us food for our kids. Food was excellent, service good, place clean.
Katie Kemp
The food was amazing! Everything we got was excellent- perfectly cooked ribeye, scallops, an amazing crab covered fish dish, super creamy mashed potatoes, and delicious broccoli. The service was also great!
100% would recommend this place.
Candice Donisi
We were recently in Nashville on a weekend getaway and can't say enough good things about our experience. The facility is beautiful, wait staff outstanding, food excellence and atmosphere exactly what we wanted. Would absolutely recommend and will be back! FYI the portion sizes are pretty large so take that into account when ordering for yourself or to share with a partner.
Kris Bass
This place is a hidden gem. It’s not far from Broadway and is a fantastic change from the bar foods. The food was amazing and the server was great! Thanks to BJ we had a great ending to our 4 day trip to Nashvegas!
Sharon Sun
Amazing food and service. Their corn bread is spectacular!
Anthony Williams
It was ok, some meals were better than others. I believe portion size to prize definitely off the scale for some meals like scallops. $35 dollars for 3 basis scallops. But the fried chicken was good all the way around
Brandon Scott
Really enjoyed eating here. My wife and I both got the steak and loved it. The owner offered us to look around the restaurant and it was a great experience. Will be back for our anniversary.
Katherine Etta
Incredible food with great service! Brocollini is phenomenal and I can't say enough great things about my steak!
Jennifer Wells
My husband messaged this morning to see if all steaks were available all hours and was told yes they all are anytime of day but we were denied when we got there and said only the lunch menu is available. We didn't want to deal with Nashville traffic so we thought going for lunch on our anniversary today would be perfect since we were told all steaks were available so that really disappointed us. The lunch we got was good except the Mac and cheese was cold. We will go back one day for dinner to give it another try at some point but our first impression was pretty upsetting. Dinner time might be the best time for this place.
Jonathan Adams
A delicious restaurant with a Southern theme. They have a good selection of steaks, as well as several non-steak choices including fried chicken, pork, and seafood. All the sides were excellent as well.
Allie Bobe
Great dinner last night. We were seated next to the kitchen- we loved that we were able to watch what was going on behind the scenes! Our waitress, Alora, was so great. Her suggestions were spot on. Cocktail: Blue eyes crying in the rain, Appetizer: trout dip, Entree: Porterhouse, Brussels sprouts (the best I’ve ever had!!), and Mac & Cheese.
Lisa Combs
Jerrod was amazing! Ask to be seated at his table - fun, knowledgeable and seeks to please! Yummy!
Laura Lotti
Best stake ever! Very personalized attention. Higley recommended.
Lana Kazymyrova
We had a group of 8 dining at Deacon's. We have shared appetizers, ordered a few steaks, fish and scallops for our entrees. Everything was delicious. We also ordered a few sides (the sides dont come with the entree and they are a la carte) and the sides were very good as well. The portions are not small, they are a very decent size unlike some other fine dining restaurants. Overall it was a great experience, great food and great service. I would definitely recommend this place. One thing to keep in mind is that this restaurant is a bit pricey, but I think it is not overpriced though.
Terry Jones
I wanted to give this place 5 stars. Had to stay out of my feelings just to give it 4. Food was good. Ambience was beautiful. Patrons were great. Enjoyed everything but service. Feelings were hurt and disappointed cause the service made me feel my kind wasn't welcome(black). Friend with me got the same impression and he loves EVERYBODY. He's like a modern day hippie, peace and love. The cause for feeling that way was that we had been seated at the bar and several times we were overlooked for patrons that came after us. I'll leave it at that.
Dave Thilges
We came here for the monthly wine tasting, but stayed for dinner. We were initially attracted to the great value of a wine tasting event for $5 per person, but the wines were so good that we started ordering from the menu. The oysters were ocean-fresh with just the right amount of saltiness. They were so good we ordered three servings! The sommelier Jen and the bartender Austin were fantastic: very personable and knowledgeable. Good variety of excellent wines! Moved on to the filet mignon, which was perfectly flavorful and tender. Had a side of carrots which were amazing, and from there moved on to the vanilla Bavarian dessert, which is a combination of pistachios, vanilla, strawberries and strawberry sorbet. So good we ordered an extra sorbet. Can’t wait to come back!
Wesley Ladner
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
I took my girlfriend here for her birthday. From the unique yet rustic decor to the scent of in-house dry aged steaks, everything about the ambience was perfect for a date night.
Our bartender/server Michael made some unique and delicious drinks, and his menu suggestions were on point. The lamb and duck were amazing, and each entree is served in a presentation that stands on its own.
The chef has put together a wonderful complement to a must-have dining experience in music city.
Scott J Jordan
Over all ok experience.
Reservation for 6
They messed up 2 of our order and did not offer to fix the wrong entrees...we just accepted them (our mistake). Table was a few put together and they were uneven. We tried to move wine bottle and it hit a ledge and fell over. We ask server about it and nothing was offered. This was a double Birthday Celebration. Probably will not go back.
Robert Crane
The hamburger and duck are fantastic. The kitchen is super slow. Every time I have eaten here it has taken an unacceptable amount of time to get my meal. One time it took so long they bought my entree. The drinks are very pricey ($12 Bloody Mary). Friendly staff and very cool decor.
Amber Prater
The most amazing food I have ever eaten. The pasta is to die for and this restaurant knows exactly how to age their steak. You could use a fork only to cut into this meat. Highly recommend !!
Kirk Heffernan
A colleague and I wanted to have a steak dinner. Considered Ruth Chris but took a chance on Deacons while in town. One of the best steaks I have ever had! Awesome sides, service and drinks. Would highly recommend!
Bri Williams
we came in from out of town and let me say....absolutely amazing food, drinks, and service. holy moly i am impressed!!! we got turned around on traffic so we were late and they were completely understanding. the server was so funny and hospitable! the drinks called time machine and Apocalypse now were very tasty omg! i’d suggest those if you don’t do alcohol well. we ordered ribeye with scallops and I wish I saved more room to eat more. also the music selection is bomb too so that’s a win/win
Joel Friddell
Wanted to give my father a very special birthday for his 80th. We could not have made a better choice. None of us been to the restaurant before, but you would have thought we were regulars the way the whole staff treated us. The steaks are excellent, but everyone loved the sides. It's a good thing they give you a shareable amount of sides too because the crispy brussel sprouts were a big hit. We ended with 3 desserts; peach bellini, s'mores reimagined and dulce panna cotta. Although they were all delicious, the panna cotta was the talk of the table. Great evening in a unique Nashville icon. We want to go back and spend time at the upstairs bar soon.
Lauren Johnson
We came here for dinner tonight for my birthday and everything was AMAZING! Abby our server was knowledgeable and extremely attentive. What a wonderful experience!!! Way to go team. Everything was delicious!
Ashleigh Daly
Went to celebrate my husbands birthday. Online it is presented as fine dining, the prices are fine dining, the atmosphere is fine dining, and the food is quite honestly, fine dining (absolutely delicious). HOWEVER, the level of service does not match everything you think you're going to get. Very causal. Too casual in my opinion for the price point. It's disappointing.
robby peele
The food was incredible. One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. The head chef came out and explained the entrees to us and what created certain flavors to each dish. 10/10 will be coming back. Get the Mac and cheese !!
Chris C.
This rib eye was the first meal I have had in my entire adult life that I didn't need to add salt or pepper. The corsair gin recommended to me was fantastic. The pork belly was like buttery bacon. And Allen took care of me and made me feel like the only customer. I will be back for sure
Alyssa Janco
Food: 10/10, Service: 11/10
Dishes that will NOT disappoint: the TN Trout, the NY Strip Steak, the carrot side dish (one of the most delicious sides I’ve ever had)
Service: Half of our party showed up on time, the other half had Uber problems and showed up almost 30 minutes late. The restaurant was so understanding, especially our server. As soon as our whole party arrived, she immediately took our order and made sure the food came out in a timely manner so we wouldn’t be late for our event later that night. I wish I had gotten her name because she was incredible!
We will definitely be back :)
Jonathan Vukovic
Walked in late without a reservation on a Sunday night, and the service was still excellent! The menu includes southern staples with a modern twist - yum.
Johna Long
Went to celebrate my birthday with a few friends. Great ambiance, great service (thanks Abby) and great food. Only thing that would make this better is valet parking (wishful thinking because downtown is packed) lol
Kyle Doppler
Visited during restaurant week Friday night and absolutely loved this place! Fantastic selection of steak and pork, served to perfection. My glass of water never got less than half full and the wait staff was impressive! Highly recommend!
Nutrition Initiative Of Manatee
Ate here twice, and pleased with the experience both times. After the Nashville marathon they even gave us a free small charcuterie board, which was super tasty. The Mac and cheese was some of the best I’ve ever had. I will say, on both occasions my filet was very overcooked, but I’m not the type to send it back. The rest of the experience made up for it.
Joe Kelly
Second visit to Deacon's New South and quite frankly, they redeemed themselves. The apps were stellar. We tried the shrimp, the oysters and the garlic rolls. All excellent. The bone in ribeye and the filet were delicious and perfectly done. The sides are much improved. We enjoyed the pureed potatoes, the brussell sprouts, the collard greens, and the mac and cheese. All wonderful. We tried 3 desserts. The chocolate cake, the peanut butter pie and something in a glass jar that were all stellar. (There were 5 of us.) We enjoyed it all. We will return.
Dan F.
Great service. Excellent Bourbon selection at reasonable prices. I was disappointed that they were out of both pork brunch dishes when we went, but the outstanding chilaquiles more than made up for it. Very reasonable brunch prices and my girlfriend was more than happy with her chicken salad (chicken was cooked perfectly) and the fact that there were 2 for 1 mimosas
Renee Gervais
This restaurant should be 5 stars!! The food is great but the service is not. Our server took forever, did not get the order right (because he didn't write it down), and the food took a long time too. The ladies room has toilet paper only in one stall and we had to share. A great manager would have this place humming and a line out the door!!
Donna Nock
The pork chops were a perfect fall entree. So yummy.
Eric Byers
Steak was delicious but I was not overly impressed with the side options. The fries were not good. Potato puree was decent.
Being a steakhouse the steaks were all done correctly and tasted good. Everything else left a little to desire with me.
Jenna Wolf
I do not normally post reviews, but I HAD to after visiting Deacon - my husband and I came to Nashville on vacation and had a wonderful experience at here - the service was top notch (thanks to Sierra - she is amazing!) We will come back to visit Deacon’s every time we come to Nashville. It was the best! Great drinks, great steak, great service, AWESOME dessert! Thanks, Sierra!
anagogytn
Excellent lunch experience fried trout sandwich excellent accord to my Catholic co-worker, roast beef excellent filling, I did smoked beef sausage excellent. Fries come with sandwiches. Waiter knowledgeable, staff very kind. Dry smoke room, and wet smoke room displayed. Recommend, spacious, nice decor.
Kenneth Williams
Too expensive for too little food. Horrible seating for birthday celebration.
Nevin Martinez
Me and my gal went this past weekend for a late valentines day date. I have ate at few higher end steak houses in Nashville (Jeff Ruby, Kane Prime etc) and have had reasonably good experiences at all of them, but Deacon's Killed It. The host was sweet and let use choose our table and made a few food recommendations while waited. We sat near the kitchen window you could see the chef rant it like a machine also the kitchen looked extremely clean. Our servers name was Jehu pronounced (Jay) and he was amazing very kind and knowledgeable of both the drink and food menu plus he knew his steak's. I had the 16oz bone in strip that was 38 day dry aged and my girlfriend had the fillet, my strip was tender juicy and had just the right amount of crust and her fillet might have been one of the most tinder steak i've ever eaten. Needless to say we will be back. Thanks Deacon's for making out Vday great!
Michael Messinger
Food is 5/5. Service is a 3/5. Filet mignon was perfectly cooked but maybe a little too much salt for my taste, oysters were great, cauliflower was exceptional. Reservations weren’t necessary.
Worst bartenders I’ve seen in an up-scale restaurant. More classic bartender mistakes to count: reusing shakers without a rinse, incorrect pours while using a measure, dripping liquor and mixes into the glasses while trying to get all of it in the shaker, no personality, forgetfulness, sloooow.
Art Stanton
Brunch was amazing.. 2 for 1 mimosas and biscuits the size of Rhode Island.
Gillian Hutshing
Beautiful interior. Food was very good. I ordered the Cavatappi bolognese🍝and a delicious virgin cocktail - made of ginger syrup, fresh lime and grapefruit soda.🍹.
Deacon’s has a lovely atmosphere. It's a very short walk down to the happening spots on Broadway and a great place to meet friends for a drink and a bite.
Chris Fehrmann
Good steak house with other dishes and sides that take a southern twist. Bacon Burger was good but by the end I was bacon’d out. Fries were good Home cut, but could have been crispier. Atmosphere was good. I will be going back.
kelly Swain
This place is always great...but the best part is the service with Alora!!! She is the absolute best...in fact so much that when we come down from KY we always ask for her and even remember her name after a couple years and she is STILL the best waitress ever! Always a pleasure and see ya next time! :)
Hilary Tutt
Being a vegan that often dines with carnivores, I usually can find something at a steak house, even if it's just lettuce. A place that charges $12+ for salads and sides, usually has a kitchen that makes something up for me, and for that I am grateful! Unfortunately, the server seemed bewildered as to why I even walked in the door. After explaining that I don't expect special treatment, and never expected my flesh eating friends to come to a plant based restaurant only for me, I decided to only drink. My supportive friends convinced the server that there must be something the chef could whip up. Well, they did! And it was delicious :)
Paula Houchins Rayburn
The food was excellent, the atmosphere was amazing, if you have never tried it you should.
David Van der Wal
Great experience! Food, service, atmosphere ... all wonderful. Steaks and sides were excellent. Everyone in our group of six loved their meals. Don't forget dessert.
Brian Shun
One of the best restaurant gems downtown Nashville. Food always shines (their burger is fab). Their wine and spirits list is also second to none in terms of unique offerings and hard-to-find products. Great to enjoy for a lunch or dinner.
Joseph Martinez
My wife and I came here for a nice dinner while in town. The aged steaks were cooked to perfection, and the staff was on point. We will visit again the next time we are in Nashville!
Mike Konopka
I visited this restaurant as a part of an event dinner. The food was served family style and was fantastic. I'm a northerner and my taste may differ but good food is good food! The service was also excellent at the bar and the table. I would highly recommend coming here.
Neda Gol
Loved their cheese and meat platter!!! Very satisfying!
Marcus Rodgers
Wow your guests with these delicious options!
Randy Gastelum
Had a great Steak at Deacon's... You know it is great when you put that first bite in your mouth and you smile! Ummm good!
Anon Review
We’ve been all over the country trying highly rated steakhouses (it’s our thing) - we loved the focaccia, rib-eye, Mac & cheese and broccolini. Absolutely recommend Deacon’s
Thomas Britton
A premium experience for lunch, without being too expensive. Many of the dishes were around $15, and my sandwich and fries was so much food that I took some with me when I left. Highly recommend for some mid level dining downtown
Tony George
Everything is homemade- the chips are the best I've ever had. The sides are traditional Southern, with a twist. The collards are exceptional. Dessert choices a little slim, but didn't have room for it anyway.
Jeremy Light
I liked that they offer a cocktail on the menu that has CBD oil in it. Great streak house that offers around 8 different cuts, including Wagyu. Steaks and sides are a la carte, but they do offer a few entrees that include sides They have a large glass window which lets you see into their cold storage area for their meats.
Alexandra Kizima
Our server was amazing. The steak was delicious. We had a large group and they were able to accommodate it.
YS
Decent food and nice ambience.
Tara Daniel
I reluctantly review this, as one of the best things about Deacons is that it is currently a hidden gem. However, it would be selfish to not share this place. I have traveled the world, eating fine foods. Deacons is 5 star. Food is chef inspired, original, and prepared perfectly. The service was beyond expectation. The ambiance was clean, light and airy with SOFT music in the background.
Mr. Wildanger
Good food, great server. Good ambiance. Only complaint is they were out of many drinks on their menu.
Chante Marie
Great food. Amazing drinks. Lovely environment and awesome service.
Rachel Brook Faulkner
This place is amazing great price for the quality and quantity of food. The aged ribeye is amazing. The cocktails are phenomenal too! Cheers!
Carl Veenendaal
Amazing experience every time. Even the non steak dishes are excellent! Make sure you get a dessert you won’t regret it.
Amy Cohen
Food was fantastic. Burger and scallops were a standout.
Waitress went out of her way to make sure everything perfect.
We will definitely be back!
Kendra Miller
Had the hot chicken & biscuits with a mimosa. Absolutely delicious!
Theresa Knight
Amazing steak..great staff .our waitress was so friendly and well informed about all the dishes. Mathew was amazing also. Great dinner. Highly recommend
DA V
Very nice atmosphere. Service was fantastic. Prices are reasonable...maybe less than what you would expect from a fine steakhouse. I had the 8 oz. filet entree and was unimpressed. The medium rare filet was chewy. I'm guessing it was not a prime cut. The flavor was okay. The rest of the entree was for show only. It was up to the filet to fill me up. I know I could have opted for ala carte, but I don't need a pound of red meat. My friends felt the same about their meals. The hard boiled egg appetizer was okay. While the price was fine, the value fell short. I would spend more for a better meal.
Kevin Katanik
Had a wonderful experience here! Our server was William, he made our night. He was hilarious, incredibly attentive, also gave us a list of fun places to go and sights to see, not to mention the food was also fantastic, 100% great experience!
Nicole Stence
On par! The chicken fried lobster melts in your mouth, the potato puree... heavenly and the New York Strip cooked perfectly. Matthew is a gem! We loved him! Thank you for an excellent experience.
Max Eidsvik
Excellent dry aged steakhouse with big selection of wine. Had the bone-in strip and it was extremely good.
Great atmosphere to go and have an excellent dinner
Katie Wilson
I love Deacon's. the people are always so friendly and the food is amazing. you cant go wrong with fried chicken, mashed potatoes and collard greens. oh, and the mac and cheese is a must😊 …
Dan Hoffman
Excellent brunch! Seated right away, waiter couldn't have been more pleasant and efficient and the food was the best breakfast we had in 4 days.
Evelyn Evelyn
PRO: Food was AMAZING! Atmosphere was nice.
CON: Service was slow, Waitress absent minded, Drinks were overpriced & NOT good - at all.
Will go back for the food & hope for massive improvement on the rest... if not, it will be our last visit.
Ed Pettersen
Great friendly service and I liked the smaller portions actually but the mud pie dessert was meh and overall the food was just okay. Great decor and drinks though. Very cozy place.
Lea Huggins
Went for dinner. Unfortunately I didn't take any food pics but those collards and cornbread will have my coming back again and again.
Seth Vincent
Spicy crawfish noodles were delicious. Steak frites too. Will try the dry aged next time.
Cody “-c0de-” Lee
Definitely one of my all-time favorites in Nashville! Killer steaks, and slap you Mama good collards and brussel sprouts. I might actually just come back for those sides! Seriously, someone get me those recipes! I will be back soon!
Walker Sisk
Great dry-aged meats, unfortunately, less than great service. I understand giving the right things to the wrong people at the table is typically a nonissue, but not when I'm paying almost $300 for a party of 4.
Olivier Morbe
Excellent food. Everything was perfect’ starting with a nice welcome southern style, our starters (salads very well dressed) and right after our meats
service was great without being to pushy
our greatest experience in Nashville
barry kennedy
Great steaks (aged bone in) and sides....try the Yaya gumbo....BONUS...great bourbon selection particularly the Buffalo Trace family of bourbons. Great staff!

Steelhead Trout was amazing. Try a "Trinidad Sour"
Tim Dison
Good staff, good service, good drinks. Ordered the ribeye. Unfortunately the steak was not that good. Very bland....no flavor. Maybe I will give another chance. Not sure....
William Criss

J Ball1723
Excellent food and quality service. Exactly what you would expect from a high-end steakhouse.
Mike C
Ordered the rare Porterhouse 20oz. Overcooked and tough... sides and desserts were amazing, just small portioned.
Eugene Gilmore
This was a first visit and was impressed with all aspects; Service, food and ambiance!!! While the occasion was an after work dinner for us, the experience would have been perfect for any occasion.

Over priced. The food is good, but not in the range of Nashville's best. Prices suggest this place is tops, not so.
