The best Hamburg steak I have ever had. Hamburg steaks are only on Tuesday. Monday the fried pork chops are good as well. All the sides are great as well. Staff very friendly and inviting.

Feb 18, 2022: Had lunch at City Cafe East in Nashville…some of the BEST Meat & Three and soups you’ll find in Middle Tennessee! But once a month George does some brisket smoking and every once in awhile some smoked bologna. So today lunch was some chicken and dumplings with mashed potatoes and Mac & Cheese…and it was delicious. But for take-out…some of George’s awesome brisket and smoked bologna! Well worth a visit to the South side of Nashville for some incredible food. 2016: City Cafe East - Awesome Catering by George – Nashville. This place is INCREDIBLE. I have been enjoying George’s brisket for a few months but have not have the opportunity to actually eat there. BIG MISTAKE!!! Went with my buddy and I chose the smoked/BBQ Bologna, Sweet Potatoe Casserole, Mac & Cheese, and Red Beans & Rice. It was very difficult to drive back to Murfreesboro as I was in a food coma. Bottom line…you’ve gotta eat here if you are looking for an excellent Meat & Three where emphasis is placed on quality and served with a smile. Was also a pleasure to meet George and Amy while I was there plus take home some brisket and a couple of extra slabs of the bologna. One of the best Meat & Three places I have been to in a long time.

What a great place. I've worked in the area for years and never stopped in. Had chicken and dressing, green beans and sweet potatoes with the marshmallows on top. It was like Thanksgiving in September.

This food is the absolute best meat and 3 ive ever placed in my mouth. It was an epic flavor explosion that only your great grandma can create. Not to mention, it was 15 minutes until close, and the customer service and friendliness were way beyond my expectations. I've never felt so welcomed in an eating establishment, especially 15 before its time to close shop. The food, even at the end of the day, was delicious. Can I brag again? Those chicken and dumplings.......OMG!!!! And Mac & Cheese and the green beans!!!! MAKES YOU WANNA SMACK YOUR MAMA goodness in every single bite!!!! I've found my new favorite spot, that's for sure. If you come to Nashville and want the southern home cooking experience, this is it, my friends. Hand down, #1!!!

The best place ever! I have been here every day since I found out how close they are to my work and I plan to continue going daily because they always have something different to eat. The food is amazing. Staff is wonderful. There is never a wait. It's in my price range at less than 15 bucks a day with tip. You just can not beat it. I am in love. You gotta try the fish on Fridays or maybe ever do the surf and turf on Fridays with the brisket and fried fish. It is insane in the membrane.

This is a meat and three place..portions are good but price is a bit high. I had the fried catfish but the mac n cheese looked dry so I got potatoes and gravy...and a roll. My husband got chicken and dumplings and banana pudding. They really use alot of spices in their foods...I can even taste it in the fried fish. The dumplings got taken home but the pudding is exceptional...their sweet ice tea is the best around...it is spacious and a very friendly place

I highly recommend this restaurant! My wife and I tried several southern restaurants around Nashville during our vacation and this one was by far our favorite. Small family owned restaurant with very friendly owners and staff, delicious food, fast service, a true hidden gem! Will definitely come back when we visit Tn again!

Pretty good "meat and two sides" country cooking cafe. The mac n cheese was not like by my friends, but the chicken was a hit with them. Peach cobbler was overly spiced with cinnamon, by quite a bit, actually. It was overpowering. But, great cornbread and homey atmosphere. Not a stand out, but will surely check the box when you're in the mood for this style of food.

Ive heard amazing things about this place and had to try it for lunch. I was hugely disappointed. I got a broccoli casserole and it was not even edible. And it was a tiny bit overpriced as well. I will return in hopes of a better experience. The turkey was good. And staff is very friendly.

Southern down home comfort food like it should be. Everything our group of 6 ordered was excellent. Featured dishes change daily but on Wednesday the roast beef was simply amazing. Tender and moist with great flavor. It didnt need the au jus but I was glad to have it because it was superb too.

This place is a top notch meat and three. Kinda of a strange location, but worth the drive to get there. The Tortilla Soup is amazing, and the service is very friendly. Highly recommend for anyone who likes Arnolds or any other cafeteria style meat and three. One of the best in the city.

Total hidden gem with the BEST southern food in Nashville! They make a round pancake like cornbread with chilies in it that is out of this world! George and Amy have been in this random location for 11 years and are open only for lunch. They sell out sometimes so get there early. Daily specials like pot roast, chicken and dumplings, fried fish, fried chicken and one Friday a month, George makes his world famous brisket. Dont miss this. All their sides are fabulous like collard greens and chicken tortilla soup. Dont forget cobbler dessert or fudge pie. Take out for lunch and take a plate for dinner.

Best home cooking and friendly people. It is cafeteria style so you can see the food being put on your plate. Check hours before going since they are not open all day or every day.

Food was ok, service was friendly but the peach cobbler, which was the whole reason I went there, was doused in cinnamon and was ice cold... I'd suggest going to Dairy King on Thompson Ln. Food is better and peach cobbler is amazing. And you can get a bowl of ice cream there to compliment the peach cobbler.
