Reviews of Chauhan Ale and Masala House
Carlos G.
I travel often all over the world, Indian food is one of those that I am always cautious of trying however it had been a few weeks and I had a craving.
The food is not only an beautifully executed but the food is truly an experience.
The service was honestly the best I have ever experienced Dioela the server was not only a great server but a beautiful human outside and in.
She did not only make the experience worth wild but warmed our souls with her smile. Her kindness and ability to just bring joy to a table is uniquely her own.
Just a gem all around worth the trip from anywhere

We eat at a lot of Indian in a lot of cities, and this is some of the very best we've ever had. The service is first rate. The space is pleasant and cheerful. We really enjoyed ourselves. But be warned: The serving sizes on everything are HUGE ! Park in the Whole Foods Parking lot and get your ticket stamped for 1/2 price parking.

DO NOT PARK IN THE WHOLE FOODS PARKING GARAGE NEARBY. THEY WILL NOT HONOR YOUR VALIDATION FROM THE RESTAURANT AS ADVERTISED.
Now, into the restaurant itself. The service was prompt and courteous. The food was good. But, if I'm being honest we have had just as good at any Indian restaurant I've been to. My wife and I were hoping for something truly Indian fusion.
At $70 (with tip) for shrimp moilee with rice and chicken korma with rice, plus an order of naan and two iced teas... it does rate as the most expensive Indian food we've eaten.
Overall, we were a bit let-down. That's not to say we didn't enjoy our meal, but it definitely was nothing special and we feel no need to return.
The icing on the cake was when we were warned before leaving about a possibility of the parking validation not working. She advised we press the Help button and we weren't to pay more than $12. Well, the parking garage refused to honor the validation so we got stuck with a $32 parking fee. So, in reality it was a $102 meal of typical Indian fare.

Definitely not the Indian restaurants you may be used to. This is a fantastic twist and modern flair to Indian food. Excellent taste, friendly staff, clean facility with casual ambiance.
Menu is simple and creative. We had lamb nachos, tandoori chicken, veggie korma, craft beer and desserts. Everything was yummy.

Wow what a culinary experience. Great food and great drinks. Service was good, but slow, they try to give you lots of time to enjoy each course. Go and try it, food quality is worth a longer time out.

I’ve been meaning to express how in love I was with this restaurant when family members took my husband and I there awhile back. EVERYTHING was fantastic, including the cocktails and ambiance. There were also plenty of options for my diet restrictions which was even more appreciated. My husband and I enjoyed every bite. I can’t wait to visit Nashville again and bring some family members to experience all the delicious food when we come back to visit. This will be our first stop!

Omgosh. I’ve never had such amazing Indian food. Everything was so so good. The pork was the best pork I’ve ever had and the curries all were so good. So much flavor. Great service and great cocktails.

I came here with my wife, sister, and brother-in on Dec 23rd around 6:30. Owned by food network Executive Chef Maneet Chauhan is the co-owner and executive chef of this restaurant, so I was really looking forward to eating here. We tried once in the past but my wife and I are from our of town and you have to book a reservation long in advance. Lucky my sis did. We got full off the apps and dessert. We really enjoy the Tandoor Chicken poutine and the Paneer Tandoor poutine. I would have preferred it to be hotter, because when it got to our table, it was only warm and the fries were a bit soggy. But overall still very good. We also ordered the Cermini Mushroom Toast, which was amazing! Really great flavors. Lastly we ordered the saag Mac and cheese. It was very creamy and delicious. Highly recommend it. Spinach undertone in the saag curry was great.
For dessert we ate the chauhan Chocolate Cake and the Gulab Jamun Cheese Cake. The cake was delicious. All of the flavors really compliment each other and the Gulab Jamun Cheese was good as well. Personal note in my opinion, the cheese cake could use more Gulab Jamun in it, because otherwise it kinda of seems like a standard cheese cake. Still delicious though.
Our drinks were good. I ordered the Taj Mule. Highly recommend it. Very light and refreshing.
Will definitely go back for the main courses. Unfortunately we did not get to eat them as we got to full off the apps, but I really like how they let you mix and match their protein with their curries.
Out server was very nice as. I don't recall her name but she was nice and attentive.

Excellent food, great service & superb ambience. The fusion dishes are amazing. Being an Indian, I was quite surprised with the Indian + American cuisine being fused together and tasted so well. Try the Tikka masala appetizer and I promise it will never taste the same again.
Howard Turner
I give it five stars because everything tasted amazing. The service was absolutely excellent. The Mac and cheese and poutine were definitely highlights of the entire meal. The steak was a good cut and cooked to absolute perfection. Worth the trip and a place I would dine in again.

Wow!! The food here is absolutely amazing!! Brought the family here for my mom’s birthday and we ate like kings!!
Started out with Calamari, Whipped Paneer, Nashville Hot Chicken Pakoras. So so good!!
For dinner we had Tandoori Chicken, Tamarind Lamb Chops, and the Hanger Steak.
The hangar steak was ok, a little to charred but everything else was absolutely fantastic! We really loved it and can’t wait to come back!
Patrick Scales
Special meal, wife's birthday ... food was fantastic, atmosphere was wonderful, but service was average at best. This was not what we had experienced (service-wise) in the past, but we didn't let a sub-par server put a damper on an other very fine evening.
Bell
Love Chauhan! The food never disappoints and your server is always knowledgeable. They have some specialty Indian inspired cocktails, too.
I highly recommend the chicken poutine! I come back every time just for that!!

I've been wanting to eat here for quite some time. We parked in the parking lot behind the building at first and then I saw the sign to park in Whole Foods which was good because it was just next door and was free as opposed to ummm $39 for the paid parking lot. 😳 There was street parking but nothing available. I needed a few things from Whole Foods anyways so they validated our parking ticket and we parked for free.
We did not have a reservation. We came spontaneously after church. It wasn't even half full so we didn't think there would be an issue getting seated. However, the host said he was expecting 5 tables in the next 10 minutes and only had 2 servers so we opted to sit at the bar. Bartender was nice and he made me a delicious, light and fruity, but not sweet or strong tasting, Blueberry Field champagne drink. I ordered the Tandoori Chicken Poutine. Guys, it was amazing! Crispy fries topped with yummy chicken and tandoori sauce with gooey cheese on top. So so delicious. My husband ordered the Ginger Garlic Shrimp Vindaloo. It had a great spice to it and the shrimps were huge. Very enjoyable meal! The bartender Mac was great too.

I’m absolutely blown away from the service/food I received tonight. The bartenders - Mary and Josh - took a dinner for one at the bar and turned it into the highlight of my trip. Genuinely kind individuals with service to match! The food was outstanding and it’s a restaurant I’ll never forget. I’ll 100% return if I ever find myself in Nashville again.

This is currently my new favorite restaurant in Tennessee. I’m still working my way around, but from the atmosphere to the food, the cocktails and the service, everything here was perfect!!
The flavors were amazing and the presentation was beautiful. I got the vegetable korma and hubs got the chicken tikka masala and WHOA!! Perfection! The berry beet chaat (salad) was a great appetizer and I highly recommend the midnight chaat to drink. Perfect spot to dress up or go casual, very warm and inviting atmosphere! Thanks for a great night!!

My husband and I watch Chopped often, eat Indian food in every city we visit, and were super excited to dine at Maneet Chauhan’s restaurant. The ambience was great - as you enter, the right side of restaurant seemed quieter and more formal whereas the left, with their bar and high tables was a bit louder and more crowded. This is probably not the best place to go with your babies, kids…although we did some babies there. The food and drinks were overall disappointing. We had gol gappa shots and whipped paneer for appetizers, paneer with bhunna gravy, a side of papadum, and raita. Again, nothing was too exciting or unique. We had gulab jamun rose cheese cake - couldn’t taste the “rose” part and again, overall was just okay. The best part was probably the papadum sadly. For our drinks, we ordered Ol’Chauhan (similar to Old Fashioned) and Taj Mule. They were way too sweet and presentation was actually poor. I have definitely had way better Indian food and definitely way more amazing Indian drinks with an Indian twist at a lot of other places. Overall, I would give this place 3/5 stars and wouldn’t recommend it. #disappointed #indianfoodinnashville

Very beautiful restaurant with a friendly staff (our waiter especially). The food was nice. Our korma and saag were made well with tons of protein. The only downfall was that my braised lamb was a bit dry and our meals lacked heat. We are accustomed to "spice" but realized the heat level was made to accommodate everyone's pallet. It would have been nice to have the option. The brisket french onion naan was flavorful but needed more brisket. It was nearly non-existent. My cocktail was very good.

Even though this is located in a pretty touristy part of town, the flavors in this place will make us go back for more! Who knew that nachos at an Indian restaurant could be so mind blowing? And the flavors of sauces, perfect rice and crispy naan - yum!
Anirudh Pillai
Poutine is a must try and probably our favorite from everything we had however it is more butter chicken than tandoori chicken.
We are Chef Maneet Chauhan fans and had to visit here. We were seated quickly but had to wait a bit long for food to come out.Mango lassi was really refreshing . Poutine was the perfect appetizer and Gulab Jamun Cheesecake was the perfect dessert to end. We felt the mains were mediocre..we ordered paneer with moilee which felt bland and Naan was a bit too dry but overall they do have an interesting menu with fusion Indian dishes and a nice ambience which makes dining unique .

Wonderfully flavored food, and the decor is beautiful.
My only issue was the noise level. My hubby and I visited on a Friday night, for a 7pm reservation. The restaurant was packed and LOUD! Having a conversation was extremely difficult and at times we could barely hear our waiter.
Jana Stewart
I had to visit, I love Maneet Chauhan on Chopped and TOC! My sister, our 2 sons (11 & 5), and I visited for dinner on a Monday evening. We did not have reservations but we were seated right away. We ordered the Keema Papadi Nachos appetizer. Our server suggested we substitute cheese for lamb since my sister doesn't eat red meat. It was so delicious. The cheese was gooey and delicious the cucumber and tamarind tied it all
together. We all shared and it felt like a generous portion. My entree was chicken with Khorma. The curry was tasty and nicely spiced. My sister thinks pepper is spicy. Lol..She had the Shrimp Moilee. This was a coconut curry, which also had excellent flavor but no heat. The shrimp and basmati was cooked perfectly. We were pleased with our meal choices. I had an Old Chauhan (Old Fashioned) as my cocktail. It was good! The server was very patient and knowledgeable. It was a hit! I would go back!

If you like Indian food and you’re in Nashville this should be your first stop. A celebrity chef runs the place and it’s a great reminder that these famous chefs can really cook. This was the most tender meat and extremely flavorful naan. I’m not sure they have anything bad on the menu. Beers are great too!

Having lived in India for about a year, this place is INCREDIBLY tasty! The modern spin stays authentic to the taste! Had the whipped paneer, gol guppa shots, and Taj Mule to start and I HIGHLY recommend it! The gol guppa shots reminds me of Pani Puri and was my favorite! The service and experience was just as excellent! Can't wait to go back when I visit Nashville again! 👌

Definitely top 10 Indian restaurants we have been to in terms of 1. Taste 2. Quality 3. Ambience. Definitely a must try if you are visiting Nashville and craving Indian food.
The food was delicious and quality was definitely extremely good. The paneer melted in our mouths and we just couldnt get enough. Must try is their poutine dish with whatever protein you like. Do note they may not have your protein choice as a dish but ask your server and they will prepare for you. We substituted chicken with paneer for our order. Their desserts are a must try for sure. The Jackfruit toffee cake was one of the most delicious Indian desserts I have had. The entrees looked super good and we started eating right away (and hence the picture of a half eaten paneer entree).
If you are coming during weekends or holidays, do make a reservation as they can be pretty booked. We barely got a reservation for 30th and they were fully booked for 31st Dec.

Lively and Loud atmosphere. APPETIZERS phenomenal. We had the mussels (huge bowl came), and the potatoes with Naan. The flavors were out of this world. Main course (Lamb chops with saffron, and peanut curry), and the Tournament of Champions dinner were both a huge disappointment. Lamb chops burnt on outside, and no flavor inside. The ribeye had unrendered fat, and the rest of items on dish were unflavored rice, some brown-looking gravy, etc. Staff busy, and for a high-end restaurant were a disappointment. Parking difficult. Went because we love Chauhan. It's definitely worth going to. Would we go again? We'd give it 1 more try.

Had the pleasure to dine at Maneet Chauhan's restaurant in Nashville and meet the team there. The restaurant sends vibes of a modern twist of India, which is fascinating to evolve into a respectable culture, which is so different than Nashville is overall. Located in the Gulch, the area around has great potential for expansions along with up and coming businesses. The food was excellent and provided many flavors of traditional Indian food with a modern uplift to keep patrons focused on great food. Service was prompt and helpful along with all the friendly and smiling faces of the rest of the staff there. Great food and will definitely be back for another round.
Fat Man Reviews
Fat Man Reviews took a trip down to Nashville and ate at Chauhan Ale and Masala House. Chauhan's executive chef and co-owner is famed Food Network star, competitor and judge Maneet Chauhan.
We started with the Berry Beet Chat made with Easter radish, microgreens, mint, tamarind, whipped riata and peanut bhel. The entire dish was light and fresh. The vegetables were crispy. The beets brought an earthy flavor to the cutie orange's sweetness. The bhel was puffed to add another level of texture and crunch. The riata was vibrant, fluffy, creamy and also brought an egg yolk flavor that was unexpected but pleasant.
I ordered the Tandoori Chicken(methi, chili powder, cumin, lemon) in a Vindaloo Curry(goan sauce, spicy tomato, chili, vinegar) with rice. The rice was cooked spot on and fluffy. The chicken was moist, tender, juicy and seasoned perfect. The vindaloo had a chunky yet smooth texture with some punch in the mouth heat upfront that quickly turns down to just linger beautifully. The vinegar and tomato really make this curry pop and the methi gives a nice bitterness to round out the dish.
My fiancé had the Braised Lamb(star anise, cinnamon, Chauhan masala) in a Korma curry(liquid gold, saffron, cashew sauce) with rice. The curry was cashew forward and the right amount of sweetness. The saffron flavor was great and low on the spice level. The texture was a creamy silky consistency giving it a luscious feel and phenomenal taste. Liquid gold, usually made with chickpeas and spices, is the best description for this curry. The lamb was tender and juicy with the masala shining through. The one knock I will give this dish is that there was some fat and gristle on few pieces.
We also had some Garlic Parmesan Naan. It was cooked well both crispy and doughy. The Parmesan was fresh and added a nuttiness with subtle garlic notes.
Chauhan's offers several starters, signature or classic entrées served in different curry options. The service was great and helpful, I highly recommend a reservation. The Fat Man says that Chauhan Ale and Masala House is Fat Man Approved with 3 chins.
Satya Vangala
We loved the fusion dishes that were created with Indian and American varieties. Food taste is decent. However I must admit, I felt food is overpriced. Service could be far more better. Gol guppa shots are amazing with good tangy and mint flavor burst. Butter naan and Paneer saag were really good. I felt Garlic parmesan naan was a bit overpowered. Overall good place and decent food for a try if you are in Nashville area and have no issues in spending a bit.
Heather Kangas
So delicious. Worth the hype. Mussels had an amazing sauce and I loved the mac n cheese! Prepare for crowds. Bar seating is best for small parties.
Kim Chaves
Have been waiting to come to this place for a while. We made a point to go during our visit this last weekend. & it was just the Indian food I was hoping for!
The chicken is so tender, any curry will do great with it! Our waiter Brandon suggested the yellow sauce to pair with the shrimp and he was spot on. The naan was perfect. The appetizers though, set the stage. The goan sauce for the mussels is something I could get with any protein and not get enough.
The cocktails were also perfectly crafted. 10/10 would recommend
Adam Clements
The lamb korma was exceptional. Nashville isn't exactly known for indian food but this was as good as any other place I've been in other cities. Better than most
We should have made a reservation. Thankfully we got a seat at the bar right away.
Service was fast and really good.
Julz Elmore
Its been a few years and glad we came back. Great service. We ordered several items and everything that was served was well liked by the group of 6.
We did have reservations and were seated as soon as we arrived on a Monday evening.
Jennifer Carroll
Kirsten was a phenomenal server and made our experience worth while. She was attentive and and knew the menu and flavors quite well. Thank you so much for the best Korma Curry I have ever had. The Gol Gupta Shots are a MUST!
Ankit Patel
Good vibes and good food. The prices could be a bit better, it's almost SF/NY prices in Tennessee. I'd say try the cauliflower pakoras (although they are not made like pakoras), the spicy ghost pepper sauce is delicious.
Mary Ann Coskery
We have frequented Chauhan since it’s opening and return regularly. The food is incredible, attention to detail is impeccable, and the service is always fantastic. And the Manager, Lauren, is so kind and on top of everything! The lamp chops and mussels are to DIE for!!! One of the absolute BEST restaurants in the US. We highly recommend it all the time to anyone living in or visiting Nashville!
Tracy Frye
Absolutely amazing! We let our server Austin choose the sauces (so that we did not go to our go to). We were not disappointed. Every aspect of our meal, start to finish did not disappoint. The service was also awesome. Austin was awesome.
Nikhila Ponnuru
Next time traveling back to Nashville.. I will definitely visit this place again. Must try the appetizers and deserts. The main course was good too.
Ahmer Murad
Mixed feelings. Didn't love the vibe, right off the bat. That's not on them, though. Just a personal preference. The table we got was right next to a service area, where they store their napkins and silverware, so it felt like we were interrupted a lot.
Loved the appetizers, didn't love the mains. Gol gappa shots and mussels with coconut curry sauce were outstanding. But didn't like the masala braised lamb and the bhuna sauce at all. Gulab jamun cheesecake was superb.
Neha Shah
Amazing drinks and food! We got the cauliflower. A big hit. The paneer steak and cheese kulcha were great too.
Daniel Mills
I had a really excellent experience at this restaurant. The food (Vindaloo and Poutine) and craft beer was all top tier and deliciously flavorful. They had films showing on the walls and really interesting design elements inside, plus cool table insets. All of the staff were super knowledgeable and were eager to make sure you had an excellent experience.
Philip Hake
Just walking in the door you are greeted with a warm savoury embrace of smells.
The wait staff is friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is fun but chill, the food is delicious.
The Tandoori Chicken Poutine is a great large portion sharable, and the Butter Naan is soft and fresh. The star of the night was the braised Pork Shank which was so tender, was flavorful, and rendered. It paired very well with the savory and spice balanced Vindaloo Masala.
Drink: Who's your Pav Bhaji. *smokey margarita
The meal was delicious and I look forward to next time. I want to try the curry muscles and a paneer masala!

This place has changed my life - some of the best food I’ve ever had. I am so impressed! We were in Nashville for one day and if I ever go back this will be the first place I go!!! My compliments to the chef.
Queenie Lux
Love this place. Sat at the bar and got great service. Good drinks and great flavors all around! We kept it light this visit but we’ve gotten the whipped paneer and it was delish.
Jonathan Luke
Had a great time at this restaurant. Food was very flavorful and the service was great. We loved the beer our server recommended.
Garima Bajaj
This highly rated upscale Indian place was on my to do list when traveling to Nashville. The place was busy and would recommend table reservation in advance. Else they also give an option to use the bar space(first come first serve). We ordered gol gappa shorts for appetizer and they were very flavorful. For main course we ordered paneer tikka and dal Makhni side with garlic naan. Paneer was little on sweeter side but we liked it. Overall I would rate my experience as great and definitely worth the hype.
Cale Turner
Took my wife on a date night. Everything was amazing. Our server made some great recommendations and was wonderful in explaining and answering all the questions we had. All of the food was delicious. O had the pork shank that was sooo tender. The poutine was beyond amazing and worth a try.
Nicholas Perkons
Impressive selection of dishes and cocktails. The food is authentic and extremely flavorful. Only thing holding me back from a highest rating is that the attentiveness of the service doesn't match the price point.
Emily Garden
Friendly service, fun atmosphere. The nachos were a delicious starter. I was expecting a bit more flavor but still enjoyed the food and evening out.
Jamie Werchadlo
What a treat! The ambiance is great. There is attention to detail here, with the exposed brick, music, and Indian decor melding together perfectly. The menu is full of interesting and flavorful dishes. Everyone in my party left full and satisfied. You know they've got a good thing going when the place is bustling at 6:00 PM on a Tuesday evening. I'm not local, but will make a point to come back here next time in Nashville.
Charella Hulsbosch
WOW; this place is a-ma-zing. We came here to celebrate our honeymoon and they congratulated us on that. We loved the poutine; it’s out of this world. I personally am very happy that you can choose proteins and sauce separately; I had the paneer massala and it was so delicious. You get great portions and we could take home what we didn’t finish. Long story short: love the food, love the staff and you should def visit Chauhan Ale and Masala house when you’re in Nashville.
Lisa Mayberry
This place is so good we always take our out of town guests here. The vindaloo is spicy and the mussels are to die for. Everyone loved all their dishes. Our server was very good and he even marked the gluten-free options on the menu for me. The cocktails are punny names and are great.
Shane Follis
Food is really good. The appetizers may be the best part of the meal in my opinion. The flavors are really good. We had the whipped paneer and the tandoori chicken poutine. For dinner we had the marsala braised lamb with the bhunna curry. All very good, but again the appetizers were the best. All in all very good place to try Indian cuisine if you've never had it. Location isn't the best and honestly wish it were closer to more places. 4 star has nothing to do with the food, it's mainly the location and the fact that's there's no parking.
Fotogrrrl 70
We had Sunday Brunch here and absolutely loved it. The decor is simple and beautiful. The food was incredible. We had the battered and deep fried french toast with fresh fruit which is also slathered in some sort of berry jelly and the tandoori chicken poutine. Both were so delicious! The strawberry mimosa was light and refreshing and the bloody Mary was spicy and flavorful. Our server Souchi (misspelled I'm sure) was super nice and attentive. We will definitely be back next time we are in town. Maneet crushed it! ♥️
John Sulik
This place is amazing! One of the best meals I've ever had. We started with the Nashville hot Cauliflower, then shared the coconut curry chicken, it was spectacular! Bartender was awesome, made some great recommendations. Put this on your list when in Nashville, make reservations, there's a good reason this place is so busy!
Katelynd Wolf
Incredible. Our waitress had great recommendations. Every dish was wonderful
Param Dave
One of the best restaurants in US serving North Indian cuisine, hands down! Came here with a large group of 7 friends and had an amazing time.
Everything about this place is really good. I actually forgot my hat and left the restaurant. They were very courteous and honest and gave me a phone call informing me that I forgot it at the restaurant.
This restaurant is expensive but definitely worth it.
Joseph Raczynski
Shoot! Really had high hopes for this place. First, the service was excellent.
As for the food, we were underwhelmed. The masala was unfortunately basic. It was adequate, but for $20, had wished it to be more inspired.
The taco was the highlight. The Naan tied it together. They charbroiled the bread very well.
Overall, we found it expensive and the dishes less vibrant than we had hoped, especially at their rates.
Maegen Hughes
Chauhan provides creative and delicious Indian food with excellent hospitality. Our server, Brandon was very helpful and polite. We were asked immediately if we had any food allergies. I cannot speak to authenticity, but the flavors were robust and everything was cooked perfectly. The atmosphere is unique and captivating.
Tori Cook
Looooove Maneet Chauhan and so being in the area, I had to come in! Had whipped paneer and naan and the masala braised lamb with bhunna. It was so good ❤️ definitely recommend it!!! Wish we would have had room for dessert!
Viraj Patel
Delicious! A fun menu, and great vibes all around. Really happy I made it here during our trip!
Elizabeth B.
We loved this place. They have a lot of traditional Indian dishes to choose from, but a lot of fun and unique menu items. We tried the Poutine and the Lamb Nachos and both were amazing and full of flavor.
Mukesh Babu Kancharla
Different menu to traditional indian restaurant. Try moilee base for your entrée rather than the regular curry bases. Must try chicken poutine, shrimp moilee.
Rebecca Daun (Becca)
Lovely space and truly delicious food. Of course the chicken tikka masala poutine and beef short rib naan are show stoppers but the real hit is the side of brussel sprouts. If I was local, I would truly eat them once a week. Amazing!
Kristen McLellan
First of all, the restaurant is beautiful inside. You might not expect it from the outside but we were amazed when we walked in. Also, the food is SO GOOD. Everything we ordered was delicious, but my favorites were the Tandoori Chicken Poutine and the Tikka Masala sauce. Our server was great and everyone there was very friendly. Maneet Chauhan is one of my favorite chefs on food network, so it was really cool to see her restaurant and eat there. I would definitely go back if I ever come to Nashville again!!
Bill Meany
It was a little difficult to find even with GPS, and parking was very limited. We were seated right at time of our reservation. Our server was very personable and quite knowledgeable about their offerings. We opted for three appetizers and were quite pleased. We had the paneer, a pork nacho plate and a chicken tandoori poutine. All three were delicious. I would highly recommend a visit. I hope to return and sample more of their offerings.
Bryan Bontrager
This place was great, the atmosphere and food were excellent. I highly recommend the whipped paneer and the tandoori poutine for starters. They were creative plays on Indian classics. The mains we had were good as well. Only complaint was the hour from ordering to receive our main course.
Jess Lines
We went to Chauhan for my birthday dinner. It was well worth it! When making reservations, it allows you to select a celebration option. We were greeted warmly and were able to be seated prior to our reservation time. The wait staff is friendly, answers any question in order for you to make an informed decision, and makes great recommendations. Everything came out of the kitchen promptly and the perfect temperature. I had chicken with the Vindaloo sauce. Don't be fooled by that sauce. It won't be spicy until the third bite and from there only builds in intensity. I highly suggest the Raita (yogurt based sauce) to help cool it down. My partner had the pork chop with Bhunna sauce. It was declared perfectly cooked and the sauce delicious. We also shared the Whipped Paneer. If you're unfamiliar with it, it's a soft cheese similar in flavor and texture to a goat cheese. The Paneer was topped with a Coriander honey and served with fresh Naan. I have an unyielding hatred for Cilantro (leaves and stems) but that Coriander (dried seeds) honey was amazing! There was also a spicy vinegary chili oil that paired with everything in the Paneer dish to absolute perfection. We had two different cocktails. I had the Rosé Sangria. It was sweet but with a tart secondary note. Perfect to cut through the heavy flavors of the Vindaloo. My partner had the Don't Tequila the Messanger. It was spicy!!! If you like spicy Bloody Mary's, I'm sure you'll absolutely love this drink. Neither are currently listed on the online menu but show up on the in-restaurant menu. They also brought out a Brown Butter Bourbon cake slice for us since it was my birthday. It was delicious as well. The cake was sweet but it had a very tart sauce underneath that was a pleasant surprise. The one single downside to this restaurant is parking. Expect to pay for parking in one of the paid lots or to be walking a bit. Honestly, this restaurant is worth paying for parking or by walking a short distance. We will definitely be back!!!
D N
Wife & I are locals, we eat all over, this is easily our favorite restaurant. There’s wide ranging complexity to their flavors without over-reliance on creams or salt, the chicken is perfectly tender and moist, staff are great, I could go on. Do yourself a favor and enjoy some Chauhan

Overall I expected more for the price and the celebrity chef name. For the most part just standard, classic Indian dishes, which is fine, but they were mediocre at best and lacked a depth of flavor I would expect. There are better Indian restaurants in Nashville, such as Sitar or anywhere on Nolensville Pike.
Courtenay Rogers
This is my favorite restaurant in Nashville. Incredible service. Fabulous food. Great vegan options and lovely mocktail list! The hot cauliflower is one of the best foods I've ever tasted and it's delightfully spicy 🔥
Historybabe
I made a reservation through Google. The restaurant kept me up to date via text message. We were seated as soon as we arrived. The atmosphere was very boho and chill. Our Waiter was amazing. He even fixed the wobbly table leg as soon as he noticed it. The food was amazing! Worth the price! We ordered the Mussles as an appetizers, garlic Naan, Lamb chops with Korma, and Shrimp with coconut curry. The flavor of my coconut curry was like a warm hug. It make me smile at the first bite! ☺️ I definitely recommend! Also if you happen to bring children with you they have 3 curries that are not spicy.

One of my all time favorite places to eat in Nashville!

My whole group absolutely loved the food. Our server was so helpful about everything. We all had a quiet chuckle when he recommended the most expensive thing on the menu as the thing to get. It might be, but that was quite amusing nonetheless. I ordered and shared the chicken poutine. It's probably horribly unhealthy, but so so so good. I also got the Masala lamb vindaloo, which was beyond delicious. One of my peeps ordered the little pastry balls you pour this herby water into and eat. It was good. A little of a shock at first, but really good. I'm a pretty adventurous eater, so I love having the opportunity to try unique stuff like that. The bartender certainly does not make the drinks weak, and the staff is super friendly and accommodating. I hope I get another chance to visit again, but I'm glad I got a chance to go at all since I'm just here on business.

Visiting Nashville and am a big fan of Indian food, but this was not authentic- it was very Americanized. I was surprised that they didn't have masala chai tea - what is an Indian restaurant without it? And there was only regular taste- meaning if you want any sort of spicy flavor, you have to pay extra for spice. Usually Indian restaurants also play ethnic music, but they played a bunch of American songs. Guess this is what the population likes here, but this is not a real Indian food experience, if that's what you're looking for. Service was also very slow.

I would really think that a restaurant with a world class chefs name on it would be the best food that they could make. It really wasn't in this case. I had the garlic shrimp bhanna with a side of Brussel spouts. Let me tell you what $21 gets you. 7 large shrimp but my biggest gipe here, as you can see in the picture, is that the shrimp still had tales on them. So I had to dig them out and pull the tales off before even eating them. The side was large but pricey at $10. I'd rather have half the amount at half the price by overall they were good. My food took almost 40 minutes to arrive. Which was strange because it really wasn't busy for a Thursday night. the wait staff was very slow to come to my table and very slow to fill up my drink which is very important when you are eating spicy food. The atmosphere was nice. Overall I was expecting really great and I just got okay. Okay food and service.

I'm ruined. I'm not a fan of Indian food, spicy food, nor curry. I've just generally avoided it my whole life. But the girlfriend wanted to go here and she knows me so I trust her decision. I'm not going to get into who had what or how good the service was. I'm just going to say the food was stunningly good and I waddled out of there a happy man. However now I am ruined. Any Indian restaurant I go to from now will be compared to Chauhan and I doubt they will measure up.

Great variety of tastes, protein, sauces, and heat level. I suggest lots of dishes and family style eating to experience the variety. Skip the poutine. Chicken was dry even with sauce and gobbles og cheese. Get the artichoke pakoras. Wow!
Madison H. Knowe
Incredible food, drink, service and experience. It's a comfortable spot to get an excellent meal. I recommend the short rib French onion naan, the tandoori chicken poutine, and the chocolate cake - but anything on the menu won't let you down. Delicious!

Excellent Indian fusion food. The cocktails were amazing, the food was outstanding, the decor is hip / modern with a traditional indian touch and the service was friendly and quick.
The pani puri shots and asparagus pakora were amazing, the Goan shrimp curry was to die for.

I am a big fan of Maneet Chauhan on Food Network, so I was very excited to try this restaurant! I loved the exposed brick with modern design elements and warm lighting. It would be a great date restaurant. It took a while for the server to get to the table, but in his defense it appeared they were a bit understaffed and they triple-sat this poor guy. I had two glasses of a fabulous Spanish wine, and my daughter had two Mules, which were excellent. We each ordered an appetizer, Whipped Paneer and Gol Guppa Shots. The presentation was beautiful, especially the Guppa Shots; very whimsical. They were both good, but I would not call either one spectacular. The Naan with the Whipped Paneer was nearly tasteless on it's own, and the cilantro water with the Guppa Shots did not taste good to me at all, so I left it off. For entrees I had Chicken Tikka Masala, and my daughter had the catch of the day, which was swordfish. Again, beautiful presentation and tasty, but not spectacular, which is what I was expecting. They didn't have the ONE dessert we really wanted to try, which was the chocolate cake, so we got a very forgettable dessert to share...no really, I cannot remember what it was, except for very dry unless you got some of the filling in your bite. So, for 4 drinks, two appetizers, two entrées, and one dessert...$244 with tip. Ouch. I would not go back again except to maybe sit at the bar and have an appetizer. My daughter and I both agreed that the small family owned Indian restaurant we were semi-permanent fixtures in back in Florida, was not as fancy or visually impressive, but the food was absolutely superior than the food we had at Chauhan's. I wanted to rate the food 3.8, but you can't do that on Google reviews, and I don't think it deserved a full 4 stars.
Ning Xiong
We ordered the braised lamb curry, naan bread and chicken sandwich. The curry and naan bread were amazing. The chicken sandwich was burnt but the staff kindly took it off of our bill. Overall a very nice experience!

The service here is amazing. The metal chairs are horrendous and literally made my back ache. Our server was so kind and was able to bring 2 cushioned chairs for us to switch out. That was a lifesaver. They need new chairs!
My cocktail was good, chai all about it. Goan mussels were on point, lots of flavor.
The main entrees were disappointing. Tandoori lamb chops didn’t have much seasoning or flavor. The bistro steak was unseasoned and the vindaloo sauce was bleh, way too much vinegar. We should’ve stuck with all appetizers and probably would’ve had a much better meal.
The area is full of construction and it was not easily accessible. Parking was a challenge.
This Me Really
I'm not kidding... A little expensive but simply one of the best meals I've ever had in my life!
My 60th birthday. I went to Nashville specifically to dine at one of her restaurants. Certainly not disappointed. Only remorse is I didn't get her new cookbook (she wasn't there to sign it).

Very friendly and warm reception even though obviously very busy. Pick-up food was ready and waiting and still warm when I opened it to eat. Tender chicken, awesome flavors, the aroma is to die for!!

Celebrity, Chef-Owned restaurant, one of 4 amazing restaurants in Nashville. This restaurant offers an ever-changing menu with vegetarian options available, fun cocktails, and has colorful ambiance. There is a fun peacock 🦚 mural right outside the restaurant and more murals around the area. This restaurant is located next to Mockingbird and Tansuo, two other highly recommended restaurants to try! There is street parking as well as a paid parking lots around the corners.

Some of, if not the most, flavorful and delicious food that I have had the pleasure and privilege of enjoying. I have been a fan of Maneet Chauhan since I first saw her on “Chopped”, and am so glad that I had the opportunity to finally stop in. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the food was exceptional; I had no expectations going in, and was blown away by what was presented to me. Highlights of the meal were the samosas, watermelon chaat, and the paneer napoleon. I could go on and on, but this is a truly unique and wonderful experience that deserves to be enjoyed by everyone.

A nice indo- American fusion place .
You will get fries with your chicken tandoori flavors, have your golguppas with tequilas and the list goes on .
I am not a fan of fusion and this place came pretty close to changing my mind .All the dishes we tried were great but the mussels with cocunut curry was my favorite
The gol guppas are a must have if you are here. Get it with the tequila mix😄
Overall good service , nice vibe and worth your penny

Crazy eclectic menu and everything was delicious! Great staff very helpful and chill.

Classic Indian flavors with a twist. Enjoyed everything especially the pork shank

Maybe one of the best meals we’ve ever had. Will be on our list any time we come to Nashville. Between my husband and I we split artichokes for appetizers, braised lamb with Korma and crispy brocollini. The curry was so so good. Great atmosphere. We got there before it was crowded about 6pm.

First things first, this is not a cheap place by any means.
The food is great and it has authentic taste of Indian cuisine. Since the menu is limited, one doesn't get as many options but this is a good thing because the staff can focus to make the food they are offering as good as they can which they do. The front service staff is charming. They take care of you really well. I feel that their portion size of their "Desi Fare" is too big for a normal person (we were a party of six and none of us could finish their plate). I would like if they reduced their portion size, not only would this help people feel less bad about wasting food but also it can help them bring the price down as well. Any cost reduction would be greatly helpful since it's an expensive place. The food quality is amazing and so is taste for most of the things. Personally, I felt some of the things were bland. To be honest however good the food is, I would not want to pay $37 for their "Desi Fare". I don't think it is worth the price.
One thing to mention about service though is that they messed up timing of our reservation pretty badly. We ended up going at the time we wanted to but they made our reservation for dinner instead of lunch which we said we wanted.

I found this this restaurant on my first visit to Nashville by chance and it was great in every aspect- from ambience to service but the best part was the food! The gol guppa was perfection- crispy outside, delicious and perfectly balanced, sweet and spicy filling with mouthwatering water- this is a must try. The poppadam came with fried chips we called friumps in my childhood in India! What a delight! The entree and cocktail were just as well done. The quality was outstanding and the price was amazingly reasonable. A must for lovers of Indian food.

This is my first fusion experience of Indian food and I absolutely loved it. The tandoori chicken was amazing. I tasted nothing like it before. The chicken korma and lamb saag were good and the shrimp with coconut sauce was ok. The staff were friendly and the service was excellent. I would definitely go back whenever I visit Nashville.
Joseph Turner
Excellent Indian fusion. The decor is modern while paying homage to tradition. The house specialty drinks are creative and worth a try for surprisingly successful flavor combinations. I love out of town, but if local I would be a regular.
Nicholas
Have eaten at this fine establishment twice now. Once during my visit in 2017 and the latest summer 2019.
The first time I ordered the Lamb in a Cashew sauce, a side of garlic naan an basmati rice. The meat was super super tender and the sauce was full of flavor. Eating everything in one bite put a huge smile on my face.
Tried the wings and they were excellent as well. Before we left I noticed they had some Lamb Nachos on the menu and I planned to go back that night to try them but I didn't make it back.
Fast forward to 2019 I was finally able to try the nachos. They were glorious! The chips were thick and had layers of crispiness and all the flavors meshed together. The lamb wasnt that spicy like advertised but it was still very tasty. The chutney brought a great sweetness too it and the tomatoes and cucumbers added a fresh bite.
This dish cools off quickly so enjoy them while they're hot. Would love to try everything on this menu

Have mixed experience with this place. We were so excited to get a reservation on our one evening in Nashville and to be eating indian food after a week of pastas, burger and pizzas. Here is my breakdown
Ambiance - extraordinary! Was truley impressed with the decor and ambiance. They had causal and booth seating , with Hindi movies played on wall via projector for each booth. This would be a kind of place you would want to book for a special evening.
Service - Great service, very friendly and welcoming. They checked on us often to see if we needed anything or had any questions.
Food - this one was little below my expectations, we ordered kale Chaat, pani puri for starters, both of which could have used a little more spice for a Chaat snack. For entree we ordered coconut curry which was good. It was very expensive as well.
Desserts- everyone had good reviews about the gulab jamun cheesecake combo , so I decided to try something else ;) . Ordered the kheer khurma , which was not up to the mark, first bite on that was full clove , which was unexpected and definitely spoiled the taste. I would not recommend this one , stick with cheesecake gulabjamun.

This place is fantastic! While noisy and crowded tables, the food and other ambience is excellent! DEFINITELY try the tandoori chicken poutine if you go! That was my favorite of the night and it is an appetizer! Just be prepared to shell out some dough for this quality food. Fantastic place, and I do recommend going if you are able to!
It could’ve used a little more spice for those of us who like food spicy, but still flavorful and savory. Umami resonated throughout.
Patrick McIlwaine
Great Indian restaurant in Nashville! A lot of fun twists on Indian food. Make sure you get the mussels.
Bill Dang
Stopped here for lunch with my wife. We had the whipped paneer and chicken mooli. Both were outstanding as was our service. A great experience!

Restaurant from the famous Maneet Chauhan. I first had her food at Vermillion. It was a Latin Indian fusion. It was very good. But over the years there quality declined. So I was excited to try her Indian Mexican fusion. The flavors are very consistent. More Indian but just enough of a flavor addition to make it unique. The only disappointment was the cake. Not enough chai for me and then I compared it to Portillos and it didn't make the cut. The movie projection on the wall was fun but not useful. Overall a good experience.
Liz Carmouche
Loved this place! The food was delicious!! I love the way the food was able to combine the flavor notes from southern roots and Indian ones. The drinks did the same and were delicious. I can't wait to come back and try more options on the menu. We got the pork keema papadi nachos, braised pork shank, chicken curry, and gulab jamun cheesecake. Just amazing, all of it. The pork fell of the bone and the spicy was flavorful and strong. I think I now prefer nachos with pita chips. I could taste everything described in the cheesecake.
Valerie Ho
Experience was fantastic from the moment we walked in...familiar smell of spices wafting throughout restaurant. Restaurant was packed even at 8.45pm but service was good. Great ambience. We had the goan curry mussels, lamb vindaloo which was very tender. Make sure to order naan to mop up the delicious curry !

Everything we ate was amazing and was enhanced by the awesome 90s music playlist.

I have mixed feelings about our dinner here. We decided to go to Chauhan for my birthday because of the great reviews. Let me start with the place it is nice but if feels crowded and the level of noise inside makes it uncomfortable. The waitress was attentive, he was good. Our appetizer, their poutine was amazing and the chai beer was great too. Then it went down the hill I order the 3 sides one protein ( I think that was the name) Wich was lentils, chickpeas rice and chicken, super spicy but not in a good senses the were flavorless, I couldn't finish it. My husband order the seafood bowl which has a similar problem but his was edible. Let me tell you that we are used to spices and that we love Indian food, but this one gives us hard time after that. We felt that we have eaten a bomb that were couldn't process. We have to cancel our reservations for the rest of the week ruining my celebration. In the end they brought me a banana cake with a Candle, which was a nice touch. So as you see I have mix feelings. Maybe Ill go back for the poutine and beer but nothing else.

Amazing Indian Fusion in a classy yet semi-casual atmosphere, with delicious if expensive food that is absolutely worth the cost.
Where do I start? The appetizers I suppose! I highly recommend the starter with different dips and spices. It is so, so good. Get some extra naan to go with it! All of them are amazing, however.
Main dishes? Can't go wrong! The tandoori steak was truly amazing, I will say that. The vindaloo is incredibly spicy, but wow is the flavor great.
Want a drink? They have all sorts of unique stuff. Try their take on a Sazerac! It was amazing. All of the ones we tried were, however.
Dessert? The cheesecake was again unique and delicious. The rest all sounded great as well.
Get reservations, and you won't leave hungry either!

Wow is the only word to describe the flavor train. I started with a glass of white wine, Pinot grigio, for appetizers Tandoori Chicken Poutine and vegan Artichoke Pakoras. Our server, Jim, was so knowledgeable on the dishes. Equipped with detailed tasting notes to aid our selection throughout the night. For my entree I oredered the over night marinated Tamarind lamb chops topped with green curry butter served on Bhunna. I suggest everyone gets their own naan bread for curry dipping. I went with the garlic parmesan naan bread. My food lasted a few minutes. I tasted the other dishes in the table; Tandoori Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoori Chicken Korma, and the Braised Lamb Bhunna. The Korma has a strong herb taste, the Bhunna was tasty and the Tikka Masala was just right for my second entree. Also tasted the Highlander IPA and the seasonal Pumpkin Ale. Highlander tastes similar to Bengal Tiger very hoppy with a nice after taste. The Pumpkin Ale is delicious and I recommend you to try it. Their cocktails change every week which is exciting. For desert Gulab Jamun Rose Cheesecake and Tres Leches with an Indian twist. The Tres Leche is so unique and tasted like a perfect infusion of condensed, evaporated and regular milk. The best Tres Leches hands down. I will be coming back to Chauhan.

We love this restaurant! Dioela took the best care of us, she was so charismatic and sweet and she gave great recommendations to our group.

Maneet - i’ve been watching you on the Food Network for years up here in Canada on Vancouver Island.
You are a breath of fresh air and an incredible talent. My wife and I have loved Indian food from the time we met 25 years ago and go to every possible new place that opens up that has great reviews.
We’ve never been to Nashville but if we do, you are the first stop on our list of great places to eat.
don’t let any of these haters on here that give you low reviews the time of day as they don’t understand and they’re not quite with it when it comes to the culinary world
keep on rockin and do what you do give our best to your hubby

HereI go with a 4 star ! Loved the place.. It has a fusion of Indian and American food.. The must try items that I would suggest are Gol gappa shorts, Chicken kabab, Hot chicken pakoras and the Jalebi cake.. They have got really good flavours..
I tried the masala tea as well.. However, felt like it was way too light.. Could have been a lil more strong.. But the masalas in it wad good !
The ambience was great so as the food 🧡

I've been wanting to try this for months, so my birthday seemed like the perfect time. The staff was so friendly and the service was great. When my husband made the reservation he informed them of my onion allergy and they accommodated me and took it seriously (rare).I had the lamb chops, so juicy and flavorful. All 5 of us loved our food and cocktails. The cheesecake was also fantastic. We will definitely be back!
Kirk Jackson (Nashville Typewriter)
Nice atmosphere, great service, awesome drinks and food!
Little different take on Indian cuisine that just works perfectly.
Would recommend reservations as there are no shortage of folks vying to eat here. 😉
Will DEFINITELY be back!

A fine dine Indian restaurant, few minutes drive from Nashville downtown. Amazing food and good service. Gol Gappa are a must try. Spice levels are perfect for everyone for most of the cuisines.
Their Chilly Cheese Kulcha tastes great, but is spicy to taste. It is stuffed with cheese and green chilly. Being vegetarian I found many options. The serving portions are also perfect, with 1 entree sufficient for 2.
Do try the Desserts.
And finally the ambience is great for all occasions.
Brian Dougherty
Since moving out of NYC I no longer have Indian food easily accessible. So in Nashville for business and figured you can't go wrong with a resteraunt by a Chopped winner. As opposed to traditional Punjabi or Pakistani style I could consider this not of a "fusion". The flavors of all dishes were well balanced, big portions yet you didn't feel stuffed. The wait staff was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable on the food and drink pairings. So if you're visiting Nashville, or a local and want a change of pace from amazing BBQ eat here.
John S
Nice atmosphere free valet parking lamb meat was delicious. ,spicy calamari and you'd like to have a drink the bar was quaint not everything is for everybody but there's something for somebody when you go there they're very polite and helpful to get you what you want and how you want it can't give them five stars but I'll give it a four and a half
Kumar Changavar
Awesome fusion food. After the Chicago restaurant closed, there's no other good fusion food place in the midwest as good as Chauhan's in Nashville.
Vikram Jhanji
We have been here before a few times and the food was good each time, but this time it was different. The quality of the food was inconsistent.
They have a limited menu to begin with and they were out of 2 of the items from that limited menu which is very disappointing.
This was the case last time as well when we visited about a year ago, but at least the quality was consistent.
It seems like they dont even want to put any efforts to fix the availability of the items on an already limited menu .
If you can't make it then don't put it on the menu . Because our reservation was 5 pm ,so it's not like they sold out . They never had it.
You charge so much money and act like you have a hi fi amazing Indian fusion restaurant, but you can't even fulfit the items on your own menu that you selected yourself and the quality is also going down .
Also, if you ask for a little extra rice to go with your leftover food ,it's $5 extra charge which cost them may be 10 cents . Really ??
We made a special trip from Indiana to stop here on our way to Alabama .
Very disappointing!

Ale's are good. Like the appetizers very much. Cocktails are okay. We are very happy that Chef Chauhan stopped by at our table.

My first visit will not be my last! I asked my server for suggestions after I explained I am primarily plant based. He said his favorite was the Tiki Burger with the Masala fries. Well, it's now a favorite of mine. Great flavor, great texture and so filling. I wanted for nothing.
A comfortable atmosphere with welcoming staff members made this a wonderful lunch experience. Thank you!!!

Located in the Gulch, Maneet Chuahan's Indian fusion restaurant where Desi fare (pick a protein, pick a sauce) meets British, Mexican, Canadian and Southern cuisine. A group of us stopped in for lunch recently. Our table enjoyed the appetizers; the tandoori chicken poutine and the naan cheese bread (sorta like a spicy chz pizza). I ordered the Bhunna Chicken (spicy curry) with basmati rice. The texture of the curry seemed off to me plus the rice was not cooked evenly with some of it being crunchy.
A couple of my friends really like this place, but I'm not sure the fusion concept works for me as I prefer more traditional Indian dishes like goat/lamb karahi, butter chicken, saag paneer, peshawari chole, biryani, etc.. Entrees $14-$34. For my money there are much better options nearby close to Vandy/West End.
Should Try: Naan Cheese Bread, Lamb Burger
Want to Try: Gol Guppa, Lamb Nachos, Tandoori Skirt Steak
Scott OBrien
First time in Nashville and chose from a list of suggestions from a friend and went here. Wow. Fantastic. Got the naan appetizer which was amazing. Wife got the pork tenderloin and I got the Meat Three thing. Both were spectacular but my wife's pork was the best either of us had ever had. It was unbelievable. The waitress Kristen was very knowledgeable. Will definitely return.
Jamie Hill
This place is so good, I’m waiting for the check right now and have to write a review before I even leave. Undoubtedly the best introductory Indian option for those looking to dip their toe in, this fusion restaurant packs a frankly insane punch in terms of quality AND value AND service. The meal was honestly so good it made me see Indian culture as a whole in a new light. It was that enlightening.
For those who have never tried Indian food before, this really comes off like a mix of the best parts of Thai, Chinese, and Middle Eastern cuisines combined into one. Thoroughly recommend the mussels. You’ll be dipping everything else you get in that curry sauce. Also the short rib naan.
This place is officially in the rotation. Can’t wait to come back.
John Burkholder-Travis
Wow, this place is worth the price. We sat at the bar as we forgot to make a reservation (make one but bar is good too). Their food is fantastic. Their cocktails are delicious as well. Get the bone marrow and you won't be disappointed as it's amazing, particularly the chutney that pushes it over the edge.
Renee B
We had dinner on Thursday night and was not overly busy but steady flow. We ordered Gol guppy shots and quite good. I ordered shrimp moilee which was nice. My husband ordered chicken bhunna and flavor was good but hardly any heat. We also got the rainbow carrots as a side. I only gave a three because of the rice quantity. It was served in a small bowl with peas and tasty but so small I asked server to get more rice. Same size bowls came out for $10. Way too over priced for rice!
Frank Sokol
Great food and friendly service. Took my team from work here for a dinner. We had a great time. The guppa balls are good (different for Americans and I probably screwed up the name). The atmosphere was nice. Worth going to for something special. Dinner for 4 with a few drinks came to 400. Will go again when the occasion merits it.
Daniel D
Great food and great service. We got 3 appetizers because we could not decided. They were all great
Shresh S
Bit pricey, but still a good place to try. Gulab jamun cheesecake was an interesting find and definitely worth trying. The rice were very well prepared. A good balance of spices!

Delicious Indian food and very good portions. Very filling and the Parmesan garlic baked naan as well as the chicken Pakoras were very good. Highly recommend!

This is one of the best Indian restaurants I've eaten at. More than worth the reservation! They also handled allergies politely and professionally. Wonderful experience!!

With all the hype around this restaurant I decided to give it a try. The interior of this restaurant is super cool. It gives a high end dining experience, the bar area is cool too. I ordered Bombay Bazaar drink and its definitely not 14$ worth it, there was barely any alcohol in it, then we ordered some appetizers Gol gappa shots and it was okay not worth ordering if you had paani puri before. Going on to the main course it was design your own dish I got Lamb with Vindaloo sauce and it tasted like it was pre made and 21$ for it didnt seem worth it! I paid over all 40$ plus tip which I felt was too much for one person and sub par food taste and quality! The Hype is over rated.
Kayla G
A truly wonderful experience! I visited for dinner the food was phenominal, staff was helpful (Mort was amazing), attentive, and truly went above and beyond to make our experience special. Everything was beyond spectacular!
Duncan Shallcross
Delicious Ghost Pepper Hot Chicken Pakoras. Fast service, great atmosphere; one of three restaurants I always make sure to visit whenever I'm in Nashville.
Aja Pearl
GET THE POUTINE!! It is seriously unbelievable. I went with 4 people who had never been before and had them all try it. They were very apprehensive at first, but after the first bite the poutine was gone in minutes. Seriously delicious. All the food is great. Meat and 3 seems to be the most popular item. It can be a bit pricey but it's honestly worth every penny.
Chandrasekhar Polavarapu
I think I had a bit of over expectations from this place but it's okay. Good food and ambience. For two people you gonna spend about $130 ish + parking. I don't think it's worth that much.
Tristan Lora
I wish there were more vegan options at an Indian restaurant. They do have some items for us. Beware their rice is not vegan. Sub for quinoa. Cool environment and always a crowd pleaser in nashville.
J. Eric Elliott
A chef you can trust to take you good places.. A warm and inviting respite in the midst of all the building that is ever-going in the Gulch.
Martina Johnson
The food was good but I was a little disappointed in the limited menu. I think things changed since covid, so it's not as broad as I would have expected. The lamb in korma sauce was my favorite and the chicken Tikka masala poutine was really good
Osjetta Gascey
The decor of this restaurant is very colorful and inviting. It was my first time trying this cuisine, and I was thoroughly impressed. Each dish was delicious and the different ingredients made everything flavorful. The service was awesome as well.
Weston Hall
Great atmosphere with friendly staff. We had the decibel and it was amazing. Very healthy and filling. I can’t wait to come back and try the desert
Charuta Kale
Loved the creativity in this Desi fusion menu. Yum tikki burger topped with arugula and tasty chutney sauces and served with masala fries. What caught my attention and taste palates savored the most was their gulabjamun cheesecake
Ashok Guru
Great place. Good food. You can make a meal of just the appetizers. You should have the Himalayan Sour if you like whiskey cocktails. The Goan Curry Mussels are really tasty and mouth wateringly savory. The Chilli cheese kulchas are amazing. And do not miss the golgappas.
nazia abbas
Amazing place great ambience food choices are limited still the place is far better than anything else that’s Indian in the city

Amazing food, burst of flavours in every dish❤️ special thanks to Cole, our server for making the experience and my friend's birthday a memorable one! Please make sure he gets recognition for this! Thank you so much Cole!❤️❤️
Majid Syed
Very cool Indian restaurant in the heart of downtown Nashville. The appetizers we ordered was the "Pani Puri" and the absolute must.. coconut curry mussels. My dish came out in a traditional tiffin, which pays homage to how Indians used to travel with food. Think of an Indian lunch box. If you want to mix up your eating experience in Nashville, visit Chauhan Masala House.
Sangeetha Sharma
The ambiance of this place is excellent! From the moment we walked in, we could tell it was a twist from the typical Indian restaurant. They had a separate vegetarian menu, which is helpful for us maneuvering through other Nashville restaurants' menus full of meat options. We happened to be there with a friend who has some food allergies which just happened to eliminate EVERY item on the menu aside from naan. The staff went out of their way to speak to the chef multiple times to clarify things and the manager even brought out the menu of a neighboring restaurant that had more options for her and served it on plates so we could continue having a wonderful time and service, regardless of the food limitations! The highlight of our night was golgappa shots with tequila! There were a few items on the appetizer menu which I felt weren't thought out quite as well, such as the spice box of the mish-mash of flavors which, honestly, weren't the ideal way to even consume some of those flavors. That was my only issue with our experience.. maybe the flavor fusion was probably more catered to the meat-eaters, leaving the vegetarians with what could be a somewhat lacking cuisine experience for someone looking for more than a typical Indian menu/ restaurant. This being said, I would visit again and try the entrees and just be aware that this is more for ambiance and service than the eclectic cuisine, which was my faulty expectation for this visit.

Service; impeccable, food; incredible, portions; more than enough to share, atmosphere; vibrant. Would totally come again. A must stop in Nashville. My pix don’t do it justice.

4 dudes on our way to a concert. We all loved every single thing we had. I've been several times and its always been great!

Indian food meets something very different but sssssooooo good!! The spices where perfect. Everything was full of flavor. I highly suggest getting the chicken Marsala putain, I know I spelled that wrong. It’s chicken marsala covered over french fries cooked to perfection, the gravy on it is to die for it makes you so happy to put into your mouth. We also have shared a pot of chai which totally woke us up. Then we shared the meat tally. We couldn’t finish our food. It was our anniversary and our waitress who was wonderful bought us a desert. Just so you know they have free valet parking, also a plus. This place is a little bit more pricier so we would save this for special occasions but so worth every bite and every leftover!!
Dominick Luizza
Amazing and delicious restaurant. I can't wait to come back!
Pictured is their pork shank.

Amazing! I was blown away with the flavors! Service was great. We got a couple of Ol Chauhans to sip on and as they were very good, they were just a little on the sweet side. BUT that could just be my palate because I am a straight Whiskey drinker. Overall it was a very tasty drink. I got the Lamb Saag and my husband got the Lamb Korma. Both absolutely delicious. We will definitely be back to try the nachos and a dessert!
Shray Gilotra
Indian restaurant situated in Nashville. Reservation based. Good ambience and good food. Like the service. Ordered “Stop monkeying around” which was more of a desert than appetizer. some veg taco dish and chole kulcha. Food was quite refreshing in taste.
Dan Kennedy
Nicely flavored burger. The patty was a little overdone for my liking (should have ordered it medium). The fries are pretty darn good.
Vicki Carter
Fantastic Indian dishes with awesome spicy-sauce selections and more. Best Indian food anywhere!🙌🏼💜 Give it a try. You won't be sorry! Oh, park at Whole Foods & get voucher at restaurant.
Annie Schenck
I absolutely loved our visit. We are huge Maneet fans and she & her staff even surpassed our expectations. All of our food was delicious, the drinks were unique and tasty & her Manager, Lauren, made our time fun & enjoyable. We will most definitely be back!
Daniel Rivera
Must experience if you are coming out to Nashville! This place is unique, delicious and will leave you wondering why you haven't had Indian Fusion before. Service is incredible and the complementary valet is the cherry on top

Ok. So here is the game plan. You go here with a group of people to Chauhan. Your friends order the deliciously filling lassi and chat as soon as they sit down. You politely pass on it even though you can taste all of it in the air. Your friend orders the thali with the large delicious pomfret. You stick to the rice with curry and lamb. You ask for a to go box so that that you can carry half of it back home. Your friends offer you spoonfuls of their food. You nibble a little. All because you have been saving yourself for the purpose for today, your raison d'etre. The jackfruit cake. The only reason you are here tonight. It is soo good that you are willing to stab anyone who tries to take a scoop.
You leave with the doggie bag while scheming how you are going to come back without your friends
Kristen
I am slightly biased as I LOVE curry. That said, the staff is attentive and kind. The food is absolutely amazing. It's Indian cuisine in approachable portions and beautiful display. The interior of the restaurant is post and intimate with nice touches like Bollywood movie projections on the walls and purple magenta silk curtains.
Try the Gol Guppa shots (appetizer)!
Satish Chandran
Amazing Indian food. We went for Sunday brunch and had to go for lunch the following week. Excellent use of flavors.
Soman VarGhese
Excellent apps and entrees. They have great private room... Accommodated 40 of us and everything was delicious. I would pass on dessert (average) and get ice cream somewhere while your food settles on a walk around town.
Chris Myers
Amazing!!! Absolutely amazing. Service was excellent and food was out of this world. We live 7 hours away and would definitely make the drive to come back sometime. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
Rohit
I love this place but…had the worst experience with manager Lauren yesterday when they did not have the table we reserved several days in advance. She went out of her way to make sure we knew that she did not value us. Very disappointing and really left us feeling deflated.
John Hill
I have been to a lot of Indian restaurants in the States, but I have never had as unique and as flavorful an experience as I had at Chauhan Ale. Liz was a great server, the space was very cool, but the food was the star. The poutine was an unexpected delight, and the evening's chef choice (chicken tami) was so good that I kept eating even though I knew that I would regret it later. I will be back next time I am in Nashville.
Victoria Txakeeyang
Great service! The food was A-MA-ZING. Felt light but was filling. If we lived in the area, it would definitely be a normal spot for us!
Carol Lyon
Traveled to Nashville to eat at Chauhan for my husband's birthday. Our reservation was at 8:30 and the place was packed.
Our waiter, Brandon, was fantastic; friendly, helpful and attentive. My husband wasn't sure what he wanted and Brandon helped with some great suggestions for dinner and for drinks. My husband had the Tournament of Champions which was served with Tomahawk steak. He was very pleased with his dinner. The saag mac and cheese was delicious. I had chicken Tikka Masala and it was so good. We really enjoyed the whole experience. Can't wait to go back and try more choices!
Thomas Cunningham
My wife and I went here for our 20th anniversary. Our server, Jim, was fantastic and made excellent recommendations. The meal was delicious. It really felt special.
Destiny Klepper
Food was good but terrible service.
Pingu Penguin
So good - we had to come twice!
This has to be the best Indian food we have ever had. We are from London, so this statement is not a trivial one to make. No restaurant on the other side of the Atlantic is doing anything as inventive with such an impressive execution as this restaurant.
The service was excellent. During both of our times at this restaurant we were greeted with enthusiastic and attentive service. When we visited for dinner, our appetizers came in around 20 minutes after we ordered them - for this minor hiccup, they put all the appetizers we ordered on the house along with some complimentary papadums. We ordered the paneer poutine and the hot cauliflower one day and the gol guppa and whipped paneer for brunch the other day. All were out of this world.
The entrées were exceptional as well - we had the paneer tikka masala, the paneer korma, and the vegetable moilee. The paneer korma was a bit more subtly flavored which took some time to get used to after having these more strongly flavored dishes. Regardless, all were incredible. The naan and roti are great accompaniments. The portions are very generous so we could not finish it even with one curry between two people - if you can take it away, not a problem.
The gulab jamun cheesecake is a great dessert. It is quite light and the flavors are just amazing.
The prices are quite high for Nashville, but if you are coming from NYC, Boston, or San Francisco, they are on par with those cities. Worth it in our book though.
Bradley Stuckey
In the course of just a few months I've been able to try all of Maneet's restaurants. Chauhan was the last of them and it was fantastic! The atmosphere was very pleasant to eat in. Our server was great and very knowledgeable which was helpful because my knowledge of Indian food is slim, much less Indian fusion. One of the items we chose were the Chicken Tikka Masala Poutine and it was incredible. It was an appetizer that was plenty for 2 people we had some left over actually. I had the meat and 3 for my entree and was just impressed with the flavors of everything. I'd go back even if just for the poutine!
Saju Akheruzzaman
Had tried lamb ribs, perfectly spiced and cooked. Didn't like the lamb shank in a fancy dish. I felt the salt was less, only the gravy was giving flavor to the meat. But worth a try.
Bradley Bullock
Had the paneer Nepoleon vindaloo which was amazing. Great service and drinks also.
CatieBeth Thomas (Catie Beth)
Absolutely some of the best quality food and lively atmosphere. It is always a treat to dine here. The servers are wonderful and the variation of the dishes (and spice levels) is perfect for those who love this cuisine and newcomers to it.
Kyle Patris
With an owner like Maneet Chauhan you expect excellence. That is exactly what we got. The food, drinks, and atmosphere were great. My only wish is that they had there own parking.
Praveen Roberts
Service was excellent,
Food was ok
The duck was a little overdone. The calamari had too much filler and not enough calamari.
The ambiance is modern bar
Jon Traurig
Absolutely the BEST overall restaurant I've ever eaten at: service, FOOD, cleanliness and atmosphere.. We've never been to Nashville but don't make the trip without stopping here!
Sachin Thakur
When in Nashville, Chauhan's is the place you must dine at, at least once. I have been to plenty Indian restaurants around in USA. Chauhan's is now on the top 3 of my list. Full marks for Ambience. decor, friendly staff and Food. I tried the Signature Chauhan Burger which i would recommend to anyone who loves burger to try it on their first visit. Cocktails were also pretty good.
Devin Fitzgerald
Regret not taking photos, but the food was absolutely DELICIOUS! Very Vegan Friendly menu, the appetizer special of Samosas was perfect, not dry or overly oily, and perfectly complimented with delicious Chickpea masala and mint chutney. The Moilee curry was incredibly savory and delicious, especially with some roti. And the veggie vindaloo was perfectly spiced to get a bit of heat at the end and deliciously fresh. Oh and try the watermelon appetizer! And in response to the guy complaining about parking validation, they can and they did so it's not a worry at all. Not the businesses fault that there is construction in the area. Will absolutely come again, and bring more friends!
Akshay Ahuja
Different take on Indian food. Great combinations, atmosphere is welcoming. Had the Meatball Makhani Po Boy and the Tandoori Poutine. Delicious. Be sure to ask about the creative drinks.
Melissa Dennis
I got the Marsala braised lamb in tikka masala with basmati rice. The tikka masala was soooo good. I wish the lamb was a little more tender though.
George Issac
The food that came was not hot. The service was decent at best. Expect a lot from sucha a famous restaurant. We had to send the food and the drinks back due to issues. And when it was reserved it was like a favor done to us.
Martin McCool
My favorite restaurant in Nashville. You’re sure to enjoy yourself with one of the many treats on the menu. Delicious!

Always amazing! Delicious appetizers and entrees. Great service and fun atmosphere!

Better in person than on the photos!

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. A bit pricey but I think overall good value for the quality and quantity of food,
Brian Carnahan
The staff was super helpful when I was trying to figure out what I wanted. It was my first time and wasn't sure about the pairings with the dishes. The waiter made sure my meal was unforgettable.
Elina Okita (Elinko)
A beautiful Indian fusion restaurant that I would definitely like to go back for a romantic occasions!! Delicious food and great atmosphere! When I am back in Nashville, I would definitely like to go there again.
Melanie Taylor
We stopped in for apps and drinks. We had the nachos and mussels and both gave us great proportions for the money! Server was extremely friendly and efficient. While the serving temperature of the nachos was lukewarm, we still really enjoyed them. The absolute hit were the Goan Curry Mussels. If you have ever been to Goa you know these are authentic- if you haven’t, trust the rest of us! Holy Hanna - they were fantastic. Be sure to dip the bread in the sauce and don’t leave a drop.
Annie M.
Ate here earlier in the week after reserving a table for two via open table. It was our first time here, so I was unfamiliar with some of the dishes, but our server was so very kind and helpful. She even made a great suggestion for side dish with our meals. I had the Tandoori Chicken (korma) and my hubby had the Tournament of Champions Thali. He ordered his steak to be prepared medium, and it was a little overcooked. Otherwise, his dish was delicious; mine was perfectly cooked and delicious.
The atmosphere was a bit louder than I would have thought it should be, and the seating was not comfortable.
Overall, I would go back!
Kris Cook
Extreme depth of flavor, excellent spice level, and definitely the freshest Indian I've ever tasted!
Sarah Stramel
Great twist on Indian food! Chef Kristin is awesome. Plenty of free parking too during the day.
Jeff Henderson
(Original rating was 2 stars) Appetizers were amazing but the paneer masala I ordered was one of the worst I’ve ever had, didn’t have much flavor to it. Staff was very friendly but took around 20 minutes to pay. I’ll be back eventually though so if it’s better I’ll update the review. EDIT - I returned for dinner with my Aunt and had a pleasant meal without any of the other issues present. I again ordered the paneer and this time is was very good and the overall service was much quicker this time. I’d say they definitely earned the review edit and higher rating and I will be back again!
Chris Botulinski
Probably the best Indian cuisine I've had yet. I love Indian food and the Chauhan Ale and Masala House just notched an eleven! Started with the Whipped Paneer (silky smooth and just a great start to a great meal). Mains we had Paneer Saag and Lamb Korma. Just delicious all around. Only downside was dinner was so awesome, there was no room for dessert!
Stephen Bryant
Excellent food. Okay service. Don't let that deter you. Sit at the bar when you can (if a couple) and take it all in. Some of the best Naan ever. Take your time and for desert go next door. I will y'all you to just ask the staff about the pastry chef next door.
vengefull toast
Easily the best meal I’ve had in 2022. The hangar steak with tikka masala was immaculate and the garlic parmesan naan was beautiful. I ordered the Morning Chaat to drink and I highly recommend it. It is a bit pricey but for the quality of the food it is well worth it. Our server was extremely nice and made sure everything was as we ordered.
Hiram Negron
Talk about a twist! For lovers of Indian cuisine, this is a must. For those looking got a unique Nashville meal, still the place. Lamb Chops in korma sauce is amazing as is the braised rib naan. Everything we had was unique, yet comforting.
Darshan Shah
Not your mom's traditional Indian food. A fresh take on some classics and Indo-American fusion. Great food!
Jessica Patel
Glad we went there while visiting Nashville for a wedding. Place was cozy and welcoming. Food tasted light and clean. We ordered the Tandoori Chicken Tikka Masala because it the only thing my son eats. For appetizer we ordered the Keema Papadi Nachos. Which was also very good. Just too much cheese and not as much meat though. Service was a bit slow. That's my only criticism. Hence the four stars. Sadly we didn't have enough time or I would have loved to try her other restaurants. We will come back!
Bishal Adhikari
The staffs were very friendly and comfortable to talk to. The food was great. It’s a hybrid restaurant so you won’t find the typical Indian food menu here. But they do have tikka and kormas. But there is no compromise with the taste. Overall, you will definitely enjoy this place.
Archana N
The cheese naan and tandoori chicken curry were quite amazing. The place had a nice vibe and is located a bit away from downtown. However the ladies at the reception were unfriendly in accommodating requests and were quite stubborn. The bar tender and the food was good and compensated for the bad experience and thus I give it a 4 star.

Background info: Recently moved to the Gulch, and most restaurants here are over priced you're really paying for the location, ambiance etc.. The food in a way is the after thought. I am also of indian origin, parents born in india I was riased down here in the south. Expectations going in were extremely high, was pumped to see this modern twist on Indian food in such a glamorous location.
Review:
Ambiance: 6/10: like most indian restaurants they went for a darker mood, cool decorations with the use of projectors for art decor but overall was not impressed, booth tables were too small for larger groups
Food: 3/10: was extremely disappointed by the menu and food. Some of the menu (mainly the apps) had modern twists such as poutine fries, calamari 65 etc.. We got the poutine fries to start and they were.. terrible. Soggy fries with lumps of thick melted cheese that didnt pull well just kinda clumped onto the fries, and then some intermixed chicken tikka. Truly one of the worst things I have had in the past few weeks since being here. The idea was cool, the execution was terrible - sad to see chicken tikka defaced like this but happy to see someone trying to work outside the box.
The rest of the menu in terms of the curries were more traditional, the twist was you could mix and match - choose your meat then your curry - rather than just a set dish i.e paneer tikka masala. They were good, not great, but good. More americanized in the sense that the korma was sweeter than usual and the vindaloo not a true goan vindaloo, way more tomato and less spice. Also of course more expensive than would be normal. I was disappointed as I knew it would me more americanized but was hoping for a twist in the dish to remedy this, rather each dish was worse than its traditional counter part.
I am happy to see indian food being modernized but I dont think this is it. I wouldnt go back here. If i wanted chicken tikka I would just go to a traditional indian spot, this just didnt hit the spot. I am excited to try the Chef / owners other indian fare spot chaatable and will report back.

Fun and funky restaurant. Good Indian fusion food. Great atmosphere. Not good for large groups though. Around 6 is a good number.
Zak Holloway
Phenomenal food!
The food and the atmosphere were both spectacular. Our waitress took extra care to ensure that two food allergies were taken care of, and having the chance to meet Maneet was the icing on the cake!
Definitely will be back!
Sebastian Okhovat
Drinks, appetizers, and desserts were ok, but the GOOD stuff were the entrees. Ordered the Parda Kathal Biryani which has jackfruit and basmati rice infused with intricate spices and vegetables that imparts a pleasant heat. Next time I'm going straight to the entrees.
Alexis Dotson
The lamb was so tender is literally fell off the bone and the poutine was so delicious.
Very fun atmosphere and great location.
Leah Jones
A great beginners restaurant if you've never had Indian before; they make it very approachable and add fun, Indian twists to American dishes. I do wish the spice tray came with more bread, you can purchase more but it's rather expensive for naan. I never get enough to use all the condiments. Service is hit or miss.
M S
Innovative Indian food. Don’t pass on the saag Mac & cheese! The creamiest Mac & cheese I ever had. Don’t let the green colour deter you! All the curries are well-balanced and delicious. The coconut shrimp curry is my favourite. Large, succulent shrimps bathed in a coconuty yellow curry. I also really enjoyed the Tandoori chicken poutine: melted cheese curd and tandoori chicken curry on a bed of thick-cut fries, served on a mini cast iron skillet. Other innovative and tasty dishes are Gol Guppa Shots and a water melon salad.
thebrav
As a meat eater i was very impressed with the options available from vegan to carnosaur. Pair your meal with Uncle Val on a hot day as a sweet refreshing drink.
Kristiane Naegler
Great concept. Coconut curry sauce didn't live up to my expectation. Too salty. Spice level needs to be clear on the menu for each item. If you don't ask it can lead up to a disappointing experience.
Chandler Ross
I would describe this as approachable Indian food. I'm down for whatever, I'll eat out of the garbage if I'm hungry enough but some people really freak out about trying Indian food. They think if they take a bite they are immediately going to teleport into Slumdog Millionaire, I don't understand it.
Anyways when you have one of those people take them here. It's all the rich steeped Indian flavors and cuisine presented in a super approachable form. Most restaurants in Nashville as of late are kind of "one and done" to me. You go, you see what all the hype is about and it's more compelling to try the next spot than it is to go back and try other dishes at the original. This restaurant is one I'm excited to go back to and try EVERYTHING. This restaurant is the one I would take visitors to. In a sea of hype and gimmick this spot stands alone with actual delicious food.
Archana Mani Srinivasan (Archie)
Amazing food. We had the best waiter here. He helped pick and choose all the drinks and food. Trust the waiters here folks.
Jonathan Stewart
The food was very good. I really liked the Bollywood movies projected on the brick wall; it is a very cool effect. I was a bit disappointed by the lack of offerings from the brewery co-owned by the owner of this establishment. The beers not offered are the better ones from that brewery.
John Rembold
Chauhan just delivers, on food quality, deliciousness and service. Love the tandoori poutine, such a novel and yummy dish. Keep up the great work!!!
saikat mukherjee
This place offers some indo american fusion cuisine where they offer a different perspective to indian food.
As an indian, I personally did not like the food very much. The concepts were unique but the end product was not great in my opinion. The service and the ambience was very good.
Chris Nichols
Refreshing spin on Indian food. Great chai and desi bowls. Skip the Keema Nachos but try the Gol Guppa shots.
Cara Cooley
Austin was an amazing server- he was so knowledgeable! All the food was beyond amazing- we will be back!
Sarah P
Solid performance as always but we were exceptionally taken care of by Noah. Definitely ask to be seated in his section.
Only photo we got was the destruction of dessert.
Calley H
Where do I start? This restaurant is phenomenal. The service the food are all top notch. Could not have been more impressed with the ingredients they use. I had the sea bass and it was delicious. There were 3 people in our party and all were planning our next visit while still there.
David S
Simply put, this was one of the best meals I've had in a long time which only happened to be Indian cuisine. The food, service, and atmosphere all warrant 5 stars. My only criticism as pointed out by another reviewer is that parking at Whole Foods is hit or miss. If Chauhan Ale and Masala hadn't mentioned parking at Whole Foods I wouldn't have considered dinging them but since the restaurant states that they validate, customers should park there with caution. We were hit with a $32 parking fee which Whole Foods said they could not help us with. Our only recourse would be to walk back to the restaurant with no guarantee that the parking would actually be validated. Go for the food. Be wary of the parking.
Anthony Schmitt
Maneet Chauhan is a goddess! I can't say enough good things about the food here. Everything we had was amazing! I strongly recommend the shrimp with korma curry and the garlic Naan. Oh... I can't forget the whipped paneer appetizer! So amazing! The server we had was friendly and knew his stuff when it came to the menu.
Maneet, you need to open up a place in St. Louis. We will be faithful guests if you do. Until then, we plan on making the trek to Nashville as often as possible just to eat here!
Rick Winter
Awesome atmosphere. Host and server very friendly, everyone that works here very friendly and courteous. Really enjoyed our experience
Monique Hazlewood
Great restaurant with a cozy atmosphere and very nice staff. Possibly the best, most tender tandoori chicken I have ever had. My friend had the filet and was very happy with it. Not the best parking options due to the location. We ended up parking at Whole Foods and walking down.
Kristine Milburn
We took a chance on Chaudhan's as no local we ran into had visited. We were not disappointed! What a wonderful experience. James was attentive and helpful with his suggestions. The appetizers were amazing! I highly recommend the artichokes in curry. And the ginger shrimp with the classic coconut curry was spicy and delicious. James was spot on with recommendations. Leave room for dessert (especially jackfruit upside down cake)!
Kyla Belgrave
The lamb is really good but the curry was a bit too sweet but still pretty good. That's just a personal opinion being that I'm use to W.I. curry but overall the food was nice.
Sophia Blachman-Biatch
Good mix of Indian and southern food. Fun to see Bollywood folks projected on the wall.
Caleb Corwin
Absolutely amazing Indian food. The service was top notch and the curry was spectacular.
Christina Nelson
We came on a pilgrimage to Nashville just to try Maneet's restaurants. (We fell in love with her on TOC and always wished we could be a judge!) Everything surpassed our expectations! My hanger steak was a treat and my spouse went gaga over his vindaloo. If you're extra hungry, get the poutine. Maneet herself was there, which was a delightful surprise. Wish we had a reason to speak with her, but I couldn't come up with one. The only thing we were bummed about is we couldn't get a beer from her own beer park. But at least all the drafts there are local. If you're looking for high end Indian fare with a twist, look no further!
ali griffin
Spent 5 days trying different restaurants in Nashville, this was my favorite. We ordered take out because there were no open reservations, but every dish was amazing. We were eating in our hotel lobby and several people asked what it was because it smelled so amazing. The poutine was surprisingly delicious and a very large portion size. We got 3 different curries and each one was unique and full of amazing flavor. Even the garlic naan was cooked to perfection and flavorful. I would go back to Nashville just to eat here again.
Guru Mani
Expensive Indian restaurant. Some unique items are available- gulab jamun cheesecake
Jaideep Singh
Wonderful place. Must visit if you are looking for a funky yet authentic Indian food. All of the appetisers were really good and Amritsar I kulcha was as desi as it gets !

I’m a huge cooking show fan. Watched almost every competition show from amateur to expert.
Ms. Chauhan has always been great on Chopped and I absolutely loved her on Tournament of Champions. “The Dancing Spice Queen” out of Nashville.
WAIT - WHAAAAAT? She’s in Nashville? How did I not know that?
The Flatmate and I went for brunch and man o man was it amazing. You could smell the spices outside and it’s warm and inviting inside.
The menu is small but every dish looked interesting. We shared Gol Gupta Shots (semolina puffs, black garbanzo, potato, mint cilantro water), the Flatty had Hot Pakora Fried Chicken (hot chicken oil, grilled sourdough, achar cabbage slaw and house cut fries) and I had Lamb Vindaloo.
All I have to say is the Dancing Queens Cuisine got this guys feet and taste buds tippetty tapping in yum food bliss.
Try the Gol Gupta. It is a super interesting concept and it’s tasty with layers of flavor and texture.
That sandwich. I could eat them for lunch every day. Killer. Flatmate shared a little. Came with this dipping sauce that worked spot on with fries.
My Vindaloo - the best I’ve had. Spicy without be overboard. Rich, delicious, tons of lamb.
Kirsten provided top shelf service, was knowledgeable and excited about my excitement. I’m excitable.
I cannot wait to try more food here and at other spots.
Here’s the breakdown:
Senses appealed to (amazing aromas, bright and clean, nostalgic diner music, tongue tantalizing tastes) +2 stars; great food +1 star; excellent service from Kirsten +1 star; working a deal for lower cost parking +1 star.
I’ll go back again and again.
Jacob Kiss
One of the best restaurants in Nashville and definitely the best Indian restaurant in town. Unique appetizers and traditional entree's makes for an amazing dining experience! Have been going here since they opened and have had consistently excellent food!
Meagan Griffin
Absolutely delicious. If you’re lucky enough to have Austin as your server, you can trust all of his recommendations. Great staff, great food. Don’t miss the Gol Guppa Shots.
Emmitt Kussrow
This place is fantastic. Food is delicious, ambience is perfect for a date night or late dinner. The Indian fusion cuisine (at least, that's what I'd call it) in their appetizers and traditional favorites for their main meals will please anyone with a global palate. Plenty of mild options for those who can't handle the heat, like myself. Friendly staff, everyone wore their masks, and the drinks are great. Not stuffed with people either, so very pleasant. Highly recommend!

My wife and I dined in for our wedding anniversary as she is a big fan of Chef Maneet and had heard raving reviews about how allergen safe it was. For context my wife has celiac’s disease and most cross-contamination, when it comes to gluten, is not safe for her. At the beginning of our meal our waiter discussed her allergens, gluten and shellfish, with us and advised her what she would be able to order and what could be prepared differently to accommodate her restrictions. Her allergens were also listed on the reservation. Our appetizer was the whipped paneer and pita which was to be served with a separate platter containing gluten-free crisps for her. When it was served, someone from BOH brought it out and the gf crisps were served on top of other accompaniments containing gluten. Having just discussed these allergens, she assumed it was safe and began eating. When the waiter returned to fill our waters, he noticed and went to confirm with the kitchen. At this time she was already beginning to have a mild reaction to the food. When he returned and confirmed we ask to speak to management to ensure it would be safe to continue eating dinner there (if she was still feeling up to it). The manager was extremely apologetic and watched the rest of our food being made as well as comp’d our meals for the evening. We did have to cut the evening short and take most of it to go because my wife was feeling pretty badly afterwards.
Despite the aforementioned issue, the food was absolutely delicious. My wife had the braised lamb with vindaloo and I had the tandoori chicken with korma. I also had the cheesecake for dessert. The hostess was also wonderfully accommodating to seating me with my wheelchair and service animal and wanted to make sure I was comfortable.
Overall, we were so excited that we got the opportunity to try Chauhan Ale and Masala House— just upset that the allergen mishap unfortunately set the tone for the rest of our evening out. Hoping to return again but perhaps with more caution next time.
Kevin Northrup
The best Indian food I've ever had, and may ever have. It may likely be the best food I've ever had. I ordered Chicken Vindaloo with an add on of Tandoori Shrimp.
Even if you only vaguely like shrimp. GET THE TANDOORI SHRIMP! Sorry to yell, but its just the truth and you won't be sorry.
Can be quite pricey. But great quality and great service is worth it.
BeNice ToEveryone
Awesome food, but be prepared to smell like curry when you leave.
We absolutely love getting takeout from here. The artichoke pakoras are insanely delicious. And every entree item we’ve tried has been amazing. Our fav is saag paneer or saag chicken. Though the super spicy vindaloo with any protein (we’ve done it with chicken and with lamb) will set your nose on fire in a good way!
Our only complaint is the bar. It doesn’t seem like there’s one person dedicated to the service bar for diners and another dedicated to people actually sitting at the bar. And the old lady bartender is the worst! She talks way too much, trying to get all up into your business, and she makes the worst drinks.
John Schwartz
I got the pork shank it was really good I probably didn't pick the right curray to go with it but great service and I will try the pork shank again
Adam Switzer
Best restaurant meal I have had in as long as I can remember. Our waitress had a smile that reached her eyes. Definitely need a reservation during busy times.
Cody Patterson
Definitely hybrid and/or fusion but worth a stop to compare to traditional dishes or your Asian mom's cooking. Drinks were well-made with Indian twists and spices.
Tony Lanuza
Great spot for brunch. Had the taco. Was running solo and sat at the bar with a chill bartender. Looking forward to trying everything on the menu and will have to try for dinner

Amazing food. Great service. So fortunate someone local recommended this place to us while visiting Nashville. The best meal we had while visiting Nashville. The mussels were outstanding.
Sara Boyer
Best Indian food I’ve ever had in my life! Our group ordered just about every appetizer and entree on the menu between us and it was ALL incredible! The chocolate cake with pistachio ice cream also blew us away. Our server was super knowledgeable, helpful, and patient with us. Thanks for a great experience at a beautiful venue!
Karthik Anna
Nice Indian American Fusion! The food we tried on lunch menu tasted awesome! We tried Chicken tandoori starters, fish taco, paneer Kati roll. Jackfruit desert is the highlight.
meeet varia
Ordered chicken tikka masala they’re used Food Colour in tikka masala which is not good for health... also ordered garlic naan which comes with garlic powder it’s not authentic flavor....and they’re giving free rice with it which is lower quality competitive other restaurant and they charge higher costs.......
I like restaurant hype but not for taste and service

This was our first time eating here. We came to celebrate my birthday. And it did not disappoint. Everything from the restaurant ambiance, thd waite staff, to the food were fantastic everyone tried something different we picked the protien than asked the server to recommend the curries to go with tjem than we all took a little from eachothers plates. We highly recommend this restaurant

Lovely place! The food was great (best in Nashville we’ve had so far) however we ordered the Orion Swift Papillion 2016 and they brought out the 2017 and poured it before we noticed. They charged for the 2016 and it was an entirely different wine profile. Once we made them aware they refunded us in full. Would recommend for food but double check the vintage before they serve you your wine! It’s frustrating when the manager acts casual and says they pay the same price for the newer vintage, even though the menu is inaccurate. Regardless, get the food!

I wish I could give it 5 stars but the hostess was the worst!!! We specifically asked for a booth to accommodate our party of four ( 2 men over 6'5") She insisted that we HAD to sit in a small squeezed in table that rocked the entire time. She HAD to HOLD it in case a party of 5 or 6 came in. Well they should have made reservations in March like we did! We looked at the booth the entire time we were there and lo and behold she never sat a party of 5 or 6. That's right after 40 minutes she sat a party of 4!!!!!!
Back to the food, it was good the portion and temperature were good. Our waiter was informative and offered great suggestions. I am sure Maneet would be interested in the front of the house just as much as she has interest in the kitchen.

We really enjoyed the food and ambiance at this restaurant. We love Indian food and weren't disappointed by this more modern take on traditional Indian food. The decor, lighting, and atmosphere were very soothing and relaxing. Not overly loud so could easily hold a conversation with my husband (LOL). We had appetizers earlier so wish we had ordered one meal to share because we were going to a show and could not take any leftovers with us. The portions were very generous, the huge chunks of lamb were perfectly cooked, and the sauces were moderately spiced and very enjoyable. Honestly, we nearly had an entire meal left and were disappointed to leave so much great food. All of the staff were friendly and engaging. Would highly recommend and look forward to returning and eating ALL of our food on our next trip to Nashville.
Tristen Spears
The staff can make excellent recommendations. Happy hour is a great opportunity to sample their fare.

This is an amazing Indian fusion restaurant. The build your own bowl option (Desi Fare) is the best for people like me who know what they want and how they want it. The food is great and the environment is awesome. Definitely a top notch spot in the area if you are into tasty Indian food with some other options available to you. Also the prices are fairly reasonable.

Wonderful experience! Visiting Nashville and being a fan of Chef Maneet, had to check out her restaurant. Great flavors, innovative presentation, friendly service. Whole experience did not disappoint! Wish we could have met her : )
Jon Nelson
What a delicious meal! The lamb chops with vindaloo was amazing. The ambiance was lovely as well. It was also fun to see Maneet there!
Jessica Gossett
Amazing! Our party of four was all very happy with what we ordered. Best meal we've had in Nashville!!! Highly recommend!!
Brandylyn Landers
Visited last night, had a reservation, then we had flight delays. They were more than helpful and accommodating. We arrived at 9pm and still received outstanding service (Austin) and seriously amazing and flavor filled food. What a great experience! Thanks!
Adam Kapp
Tandoori poutine. Chili paneer bhurjee relleno. This is the food of Chauhan Ale & Masala house and it is incredible. The craft cocktails are top notch; the bar staff really know their stuff. Local craft beer with an Indian inflection, too. One of the best meals of my life and easily the best place I've been in Nashville. Can't wait to come back! Try the chai stout, but save room for dessert!
Douglas and Cheryl Oglesby
So many awesome things! Chef Chauhan is a genius and if you are in Nashville - you need to eat here! We will be back. See Josh behind the bar, all the locals rave about him and he lived up to the hype.
Nancy Holcomb
Delicious food. Would recommend this place and suggest making reservations. We sat at the bar and our bartender/waiter Josh was very friendly and helpful.
Kell
A fresh take on Indian food. Had the Nanzanella salad and veggie korma with rice pudding sundae. Fantastic food and super friendly staff.
Kushang Pathak
Best Appetizer on the Menu. Chicken Tandoori Poutine. Not the same taste any more as Chef has changed. Try not to go on Sunday.
Amy Testa
Most amazing fish curry I’ve ever had. Definitely ask the staff for recommendations because they’ve got great suggestions for sauce/protein combinations depending on your preferences.
Do not miss the whipped paneer. I’ll be dreaming about it for years!
Savitha Ramesh Kumar
We enjoyed dinner at Chauhan. We had the moilee and vindaloo curries - it was fantastic. The hot chicken pakoras were great too! Excellent service by the bartender Mac. We're definitely coming back to try the other things on the menu.
Cassandra Furter
Tandoori.Chicken.Poutine. That’s all you need to know.
Oh and that their bartenders make amazing cocktails as well.
Vol Hawg
Slow and busy, but worth it for the food and drink. The server's knowledge of the menu and willingness to make recommendations based on the tastes of everyone was also excellent.
Mann Singh
Food is excellent and ambience was good.
Staff was helpful and overall good dining experience...

My husband and I waited a longtime to be able to try this restaurant. It's really hard to be able to walk in due to its popularity. Overall, our experience was totally mixed. Chauhan and Ale has a lovely atmosphere and a friendly waitstaff. However, due to its location the parking is very expensive. You end up having to factor in an extra $15 for your already expensive meal.
As far as the food goes, the fusion dishes were of note! The Macaroni and Cheese was delicious. The Gulab Jamin cheese cake was sensational. I liked the idea of the Tandoori chicken poutine although my husband, who is Indian didn't care for it. As for the traditional Indian food, it was some of the WORST Indian food either of us have ever had. I have lived in India and again my husband is Indian. You can find a better traditional Indian meal at Trader's Joes for $3.00 as oppose to the whopping $20. My advice go for the Indian American fusion food and absolutely check out other restaurants in the Nashville community for Indian food.
Zach Moses
We love Chauhan Ale and Masala House so much. It's the best experience of food I think I've ever had. All the different and unique spices make the food such a wonderful experience. The food really takes your taste buds on a journey, and have taken mine to places never tasted before. We love recommending this restaurant to any friends coming to Nashville looking for a place to eat.
Great Cocktails, delicious beer, and the best food in Nashville!
Jishu Kinkar Medhi
The food was innovative.. I would have loved if the quantity was a bit more

The setting and atmosphere are laid back. My server wasn't very great. She kept putting her fingers on the extra plates she brought me until I finally asked her to hold them with both hands from the bottom so this wouldn't happen. She seemed upset after this which isn't professional at all but in her own words, "my mind's blank today." Not a good first impression. The food was mostly good. My server recommended the gol guppa shots which were okay but I didn't like the green water and juice mixture which is supposed to be poured into said shots. The hot chicken pakoras were incredible and should be one of the main selling points. The bhunna chicken was standard fare. The jackfruit sticky toffee upside down cake was sweet and moist and I'll definitely be getting that again. I was impressed by the many different preparation styles on the menu (bhunna, vindaloo, masala, etc.). Also, there is a good alcoholic beverage selection and the bartenders were able to whip up a "mocktail" for me which I enjoyed. I will more than likely return here as there are a lot of different sauces and styles to try. Highly recommend.

An unplanned layover in Nashville, you want to try some regionally unique fare...BBQ? Hot chicken? Nah, Indian! I'd heard an interview with executive chef Maneet Chauhan on a podcast and made a mental note to check it out during my next visit to Music City. Normally, at that hour I may not have made a trip beyond the hotel footprint, but COVID has caused many restaurants to reduce their hours, and I was pleased to see Chauhan was open until 10 PM on a Sunday night. I worried that my late arrival (8:30 PM) would mean less selection or food not as fresh. I need not have been concerned.
I arrived by Uber (the driver remarked he had never even heard of the restaurant) to a corner bar, with Bollywood videos projected against a brick wall. The ambiance was cozy and welcoming, a place I would frequent if I was in town more often. The air was redolent with the aroma of Indian cooking, but not in any oppresive or overwhelming way. Instead, it was a comforting fragrance. I felt so welcomed, as if I were in a private residence.
Since I was alone, I sat at the bar and started with a Peachy Keen cocktail. Lovely. Not only refreshing, but a wonderful compliment to the warm spices of the cuisine. As I perused the menu, I regretted that I was alone and only in town for the night. I wouldn't be able to take leftovers with me, so ordering too much food would have been wasteful. I explained this to the bartender and asked for her recommendations. She suggested the artichoke pakora and a bhunna curry with either chicken or lamb. I followed her advice and went with both, selecting the chicken for the bhunna.
Solid advice, and a glimpse into the menu of this delightful establishment. The artichoke were cut into small wedges and fried in a light batter. The coconut chutney was pooled on the small plate and I could have eaten it with a spoon. Amazing flavor, something different than I would have normally ordered and a recipe I'd love to try duplicating at home. I ran out of chutney before finishing the artichoke, which was fine since I needed room for the entree.
Next up, the chicken bhunna, served in a metal bowl with basmati rice on the side. Large portion, plenty of gravy, a nice mix of white and dark meat that was tender and spiced to perfection-a little heat that enhanced the flavor, but not so much that you couldn't add more or that it overwhelmed the taste of the dish. I also ordered a side of naan that was a balance of fluffy and crisp, just the way I like it. The welcome feeling that greeted me at the door persisted as I ate-it was as if I was at a friend's home, enjoying their own cooking.
I wish I arrived hungrier than I did, because I could barely eat half the ample portion and regretted not being able to share the deliciousness with my daughter who would have loved it. I SO wanted to try dessert, but I'm sure this won't be my final visit to Chauhan Ale & Masala House.
Shea Calabrese
Not great not horrible. Service was average the atmosphere was pretty good. Parking is like everywhere else in the city. We got away with $15 for a couple hours right next to the restaurant. After watching TOC I expected more. The signature appetizer was by far the star of the evening. Everything else did not really stack up. Won't be going here again but excited to try another one of her restaurants in town.
Blake Baldassari
Really unique style of food! Decent beer selection and really neat cocktails. We got 2 appetizers and all of us for an entree..... We were stuffed! Definitely a good place for sharing and splitting dishes.
David K
The food was fantastic. Not your normal Indian fare. The spice level was perfect. We sat in the bar area and we're waited on by Tess. She was knowledgeable about the bar menu and the food menu. We took her suggestions on what to try and we were not disappointed. She was very attentive to our needs the whole time, and she took care of her bar duties as well. We will definitely be back!
Katsky
Best Indian food in Nashville. One of my favorite restaurants since it opened. Such bright, explosive complex flavors with a variety of choices for all. Maneet Chauhan has created a gorgeous experience that only seems to get better as time goes on. I celebrated here with my family tonight, and the food and decor is more robust than ever. Highly recommended.
Neha Desai
AMAZING Indian food in such a hip environment! The menu was so creative and I love the twist on Indian favorites. Was truly a delight to taste all the items and I love the Nashville influences bleeding into Indian style dishes.
The cocktails were also very creative, but I wasn’t the biggest fan of the ones I had ordered which is the only reason I put a 4 instead of 5 star rating. Will definitely have to come back for brunch!
Chadrick Glossup
The food was amazing! My husband and I just had our 1 year anniversary dinner there. He had the duck leg and I had the lamb chops. We were greeted with a complimentary app for our anniversary. Everything we had was spectacular! My lamb chops in the tamarind sauce with the squash was amazing. My Husband had the duck leg and he said it was delicious. After our meal we where also given complimentary glasses of champagne to toast our love for one another. Great service, great food and love the atmosphere.
Starrlite DeCook
Delicious food that took a quite a bit of time. Great atmosphere. Wish their brunch selection was bigger.
April settle
From the atmosphere, to the food, and the service our experience was top notch! Would love to visit again next time we're in Nashville!
Amar Sirohi
Starters are imaginative. Food is just about average. Although I remember it bring better in the past.
Lawrence Aleman
Fantastic!
Delicious food! Amazing service!
Even people in our party who "didn't like Indian food" enjoyed their meals. Very good food. Ambience was very relaxing as well.
I highly recommend this place when visiting Nashville!
Laura Pewitt
We started with drinks and an appetizer , then continued with entrees snd even a dessert. Everything was absolutely delicious! We can’t wait to eat our leftovers that we brought home! My husband couldn’t get enough of the coconut curry… We will definitely go back.
Evangelos Liakos
Great taste of dishes! I was so full of different Indian tastes after that.
Amber Dowd
We tried Chauhan last night for the first time. We are Indian food regulars, so went in expecting fireworks due to hype and the cost of the dishes. We left with mixed feelings on the experience. What stood out the most was the delicious sangria, the methi malai mac and cheese, and the gulab jamun cheesecake (likely the best dessert I've ever had, period). The curries were less impressive with no ability to customize heat level unless you add fresh green chillies to the dish, and those just overwhelmed the otherwise muted flavors of my curry. I found the menu to be limited, particularly in vegetarian options (which most Indian restaurants really shine at) and my saag paneer to be bland. My partner's chicken Tikka masala was underwhelming to him. Did not know about the validated parking at Whole Foods so spent $30 on parking after a nearly $200 meal (we were there less than 2 hrs). The atmosphere is fun, and the service was good (although we didn't get water refills until our bill came). Location is not a convenient one for a casual dinner if you don't live in the Gulch, and reservations are strongly encouraged, so be sure to plan ahead vs going for something willy nilly last minute. For me, Sitar is the gold standard of Indian food in Nashville and will cost half of your bill at Chauhan with no parking fees. I appreciate that Nashville has another Indian restaurant, but I will stick to Sitar for wider menu options, more flavorful dishes, free parking, and not such a hit to the bank account.
Mike Keller
The food and the mood here were really great. A solid choice would be the meat and three, the catch of the day was pretty great the day I was there as well. Their drink selection is really nice, I strongly recommend the down by law. It's got just the right kick to get ya going without knocking you out. I don't give it 5 stars only because it left me wanting a more traditional Indian restaurant experience. That said, the drinks, the food and the atmosphere make this a solid date night spot.
Chris LaFave
Amazing food and service. The hot chicken pakoras were excellent, as always!
Cynthia Cunningham
It was phenomenal. My husband and I went here last night for the first time. Our server was courteous and had many helpful suggestions. We started with the garlic parm naan. It had just the right amount of spices and cheese and was flaky. My husband had the Paneer with Saan sauce and said it tasted like a warm hug. I had the garlic shrimp with coconut curry sauce. I caught myself saying yum after every bite. My cocktail was refreshing and so different than anything I've ever had before. All in all it was a great experience and we will definitely be back. Watch out though for the parking lot behind the restaurant It is a little bit high for parking. I have heard you can park at Whole foods much cheaper and the restaurant will give you a voucher.
Chef Avinash Kapoor
Our server was great. The service was great. The appetizers were very enjoyable. Mussels, gold gappa, artichoke hearts pork belly were delicious. Steak, rib eye, was great. Dont order the spinach it was not prepared good. Drinks were great. $$$
Mary Zena Pennino
The entire experience was fabulous. Tess our server as well as the other staff were exceptionally knowledgeable, hospitable and friendly. The food was some of the best I have eaten in the United States. The naan bread is off the charts. The lamb is tender and flavorful. Try the Korma Sauce and the Whipped Paneer. ENJOY!!!!!
Lisa MPB
We went there on a Monday and it was full, which should tell you something about the food. First time eating Indian food for the six of us and we weren't disappointed. DELISH! Emma was super nice and very helpful in making food choices. Don't pass this up!
Erin
Excellent experience! Our waiter was fantastic, he made suggestions and helped us make our decisions. Everything was absolutely delicious. I had the korma with shrimp and it was creamy, slightly sweet and had the lightest hint of spicy. It was perfect! I can't wait to go back!
Connie Bautista
Good company and delicious food
Zack French
This place is great. Top rate food and perfect portions. Very helpful waitstaff; even though it seemed as if they might be shorthanded our server never left us feeling neglected. It was somewhat amusing to what them zip around frantically... I appreciated the effort though
Frank Ameka
Amazingly beautiful restaurant with the most attentive and attractive manager! Food was good but fell short of the flavor intensity that comes with Indian stews and the proteins. We had the lamb which was tender and juicy but could not match the flavor profiles of the sauces. The drinks were absolutely amazing as well as the service.
Kathryn Melton
Chauhan Ale & Masala House is one of the best Indian restaurant in this area. The food here is excellent! Plentiful, tasty, more than filling. I had the meal for one. Highly recommended. Next night I tried a variety of appetizers: most of them were excellent! Service was excellent. They did not bother me with service, but was always there when I needed, or just before. 5 stars for sure!
Daniel theNerd
The food and atmosphere is very good. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Menu has plenty of flavor but not a big selection. Menu is on the pricey side for a place with Ale house in the title. Also has a small draft menu. Parking sucks, $20 to park at the nearby lots and there is not much street parking.
Rachel Hayes
Ordered Carryout. The food is excellent and refined. The online ordering system does not ask you for your preferred spice level. Sauces are perfectly smooth, rich, and aromatic. The flavors are complex and distinctive, but not assertive. Portions are generous. I feel this type of dining does not translate well to carry out. It excels when delivered fresh and hot to a table that will savor flavors and discuss the food. If I'll be eating and reheating at home, an ability to specify spiciness is helpful. In general, I like spicy - especially if I need to substitute assertiveness for elegance. Dine in customers can probably add spicy condiments to taste. Perhaps I should have ordered some chutney. Instead, I'll get my carryout from Best of India and take guests to dine at Chauhan Ale and Masala house when we start entertaining out of town guests again. Or - carry out the more assertive food from Chaatable.
Ashish Shah
Great appetizers and wonderful ideas about Indian fusion cuisine. The main courses were less than what we expected. Very mild, even sweet. Their duck was sweet, the meat & three was made up of sweet vegetables and just edible chicken.
No need for dessert once you finish your meal.
The staff was very nice and helpful.
Adam T
#chefwasntthere overall very nice meal, great service. However if Chef Chauhan would have been judging her own food I think it would have been good, not great. I guess this is the dilemma for being a celebrity chef judging others food…
The pork belly had good flavor but was a bit dry, not the best I have had…Lark. The lamb chops with vindaloo was very close to 5 stars, again just a tiny bit dry. For the naan I don’t understand adding Parmesan.
The cheesecake dessert was divine.
Ashray Shankar
Immaculate vibe, homeland taste.
From the moment you walk in, you instantly smell the warm welcome of Indian cuisine. The decor for the pillars are almost wedding-like with floral arrangements. The chandeliers have an ancient aesthetic. The best visual were 5 projectors playing old-school Bollywood clips.
The food itself was crafted wonderfully. The taste was very authentic. Normally I don’t prefer to eat Indian cuisine except homemade, but CAMH is an exception.
Jason Nubile
The host ignored us a few minutes as we walked in the door but the server was good and the food decent. It’s more of an Americanized cuisine and not 100% authentic...they had Beyoncé playing in the background and the food was a bit bland. Overall, okay experience though.
Sonia Eapen
We just had dinner at this restaurant. The food was amazing but what was truly great was the service. My son has a nut allergy and he ate an appetizer that we didn't realize had a nut paste in. He had a reaction to it and had to run to the bathroom to throw up twice. The waiter and manager were so compassionate. They kept coming to us to make sure he was okay. They brought him gingerale and a pineapple sorbet. To top it all off they brought us a dessert and then refused to charge us. So the entire dinner was on the house!! I cannot believe it still. I've never experienced such superior service anywhere else. I want to specifically thank our waiter and Nikki Smith, the assistant general manager.
Lots of love,
Sonia

Great food superb ambience. Must visit if you are in Nashville and looking for fusion Indian food. Very friendly staff and great experience.
Zee
Best Indian food in Nashville. Great service too.
Aravind Thyagarajan
Absolutely incredible gem of a place to enjoy fusion Indian cuisine in Nashville. Slightly over priced but IMO, worth it.
Keith Jackson
Awesome Indian food. This place has a cool atmosphere, with old movies playing on projectors. If you don't like curries, then stay far away from this place. The smell is amazing from the minute you walk in.
The food is flavorful, rich, and large portions for the money. Make sure you try at least one appetizer. They also have a great cocktail menu. Would certainly go again.
Andy DT
Pretty good Indian food.. maybe sauce a bit too liquid, hot sauce could be hotter, but overall pretty good.
John Osborne
Memorable dining experience. Menu has some truly unique and flavorful fusion dishes. Menu is not overwhelming, but has something for everyone. Enjoyed the Indian twist on a Chile relleno. Appetizers were terrific. Friendly service. The decor is a little funky. Would definitely go back the next time I go to Nashville
Jason Deonarain
The food is very flavorful, as one would expect from Indian cuisine. The spices are not overwhelming, nor is the food too rich. I was able to take in a 3 course meal and not feel overly stuffed. The place was packed with a mixed crowd (young, old, and all races) and the vibe was very vibrant. Service was prompt, even with a packed house. Dishes were hot and had eastern and western (southern) flair. Must have the tandoori poutine. That was moth watering and truly something unique. I'll be back soon!
Caleb Chitwood
Had a fantastic date night here! Easily now one of my favorite restaurants in the Nashville area. Sydney (our server) was excellent - helping us choose between several items on the menu. The standouts to us where the lamb nachos and the short rib french onion naan -- both were amazing. Unique food with indian flavors but a bit of southern/american flair thrown in. If you're looking for something a little bit different, I can't recommend Chauhan enough.
Alexander Heck
It was very good but with both the name and its reputation I was expecting something a bit more elevated. Overall it was good food and an enjoyable experience. Just expected a bit more for the price.
Uju Oraedu
Our server Chloe was excellent and fabulous. She really knows her stuff. We are vegan and she was able to perfectly guide us through the menu. This place has just enough vegan options and the food is delicious!! Loved the artichoke pakoras and the moilee. This was my first time dining here and I would highly recommend. Thank you Chloe for making our experience great!
Jordan Baczynski
I have been pretty fortunate in my life in that I have had the opportunity to travel to many different places in my life. Every time I travel, I have an excellent opportunity to try out new restaurants and boy did this one not disappoint!
Chauhan Ale & Masala House was an incredible experience! The food was absolutely phenomenal and the selection of drinks was very impressive! If you like Indian Food and are in Nashville, this is a must!!
Stacey Goodman
We visited Chauhan Ale & Masala House for the first time last night and it was so delicious! Our waiter was super nice and helped us figure out which curry to order along with recommendations on appetizers. We got the tandoori chicken poutine, shrimp with vindaloo and the garlic parmesan naan bread. Highly recommend and definitely will be back!
Nick Sarraf
Here's another celebrated Indian restaurant with overall average food. Some highlights for our party of four were under cooked naan, flavorless tandoori chicken and automatic 20% gratuity.
Madeleine Hobart
I have never had better Indian food. The menu is amazingly curated. The Garlic Shrimp with Vindaloo curry is the best amount of spice and flavor. The whipped paneer was delicious and a great starter.
Jomarie
Visiting Chauhan from NYC was the highlight of our Nashville trip! We ordered most of the menu, craving a taste of everything, and were completely blown away. The traditional Indian dishes are by far the best (vindaloo, lentils, all the curries!!) And the fun twist on "nachos" was probably one of my favorites on the menu. The staff was also the warmest, friendliest bunch and cocktails are amazing! Can't say enough positive things about this place and can't wait to go back!
Tim Enkeboll
My wife and I love this restaurant! The tandoori fries were incredible and our entrees where to die for! The fusion of classic Indian meals were not overdone, but perfectly balanced. If in Nashville, we will always try and come here!
Al Crossley
Although it seems to be extremely difficult in obtaining a table (it was a very busy Thursday evening and we mistakenly neglected to make reservations, to be fair), it was a welcome and pleasant surprise to experience Indian cuisine in such a charming and cozy atmosphere. The only regret was that we had to leave. I'm highly impressed with the flavors and presentation of all the items we selected. I will return with my significant other so that she and I can enjoy a more intimate and private night.
Lori Hansen
We went to Chauhan Ale and Masala House last night for the start of our honeymoon and the meal we received was excellent! We have never had such great food and this was our first time eating India made food. So awesome!!! Thank you Chauhan for a great start to our new lives! Mr. and Mrs. Virgil and Lori Buysman
Kristen Griffin
Most amazing experience from beginning to end. My husband and I have enjoyed bother dinner and brunch here. Every detail has been well thought out and executed impeccably- from your first sip of their most amazing cocktail list to the last bite of your meal. I enjoyed the curried lamb shank for dinner and brunch was pretty incredible, as I had the chicken and waffles with lavender syrup. There are so many cool places to try in Nashville but every time someone comes to town, this place is at the top of our list. You can't go wrong with it.
Alexander Owen
I had a date night with the wife and we had a lovely time! I had the tikka masala with steak, which was absolutely terrific. They make a great medium rare, delicious mix of flavors with the masala. She had the tikka masala with paneer and naan, light fluffy naan and delicate paneer. Would eat here again!
Jody May
Good cuisine in a chill atmosphere. Valet parking is available. They dim the lights and project Bollywood on the walls. We shared the calamari which is much more tender and less salty than other places. I had the "meat and three" chef's preparation which had chicken and three traditional dishes...all very tasty and highly recommended if you are looking for some variety. Great Nashville venue for something other than the typical fare.
Rebecca Harris
Fantastic food. A really cool mix of classic Indian dishes and Nashville favorites. Our server Liz was cheerful, accommodating and personable. Cocktails were creative and tasty. An overall great dinning experience!
Kathryn Locke
We love Chauhan!!! The flavors are absolutely delicious and a welcome modern take on Indian cuisine! Chef Chauhan is very friendly if you are lucky enough to be there and catch her! The breakfast tacos at Sunday brunch are the best breakfast tacos I've ever had, and I've had my fair share of them! Also, the curried deviled eggs are an exciting twist on the ole southern staple!
radhey agarwal
Food is alright. We went to celebrate anniversary with high expectations.
Service is friendly. My husband found a broken piece of white ceramic crockery in his rice and luckily didn’t swallow it. We informed staff right away so no one else gets hurt. Staff offered us free takeouts but we didn’t want anything in exchange. Staff handled it really well and included a generous discount on our check.
Amy Cox
Had a wonderful meal last night! This was our first time, and we are not familiar with Indian Cuisine. Our server, Luis, was awesome! He was very patient answering our questions, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a good experience. 5 star service at a great venue. Congrats to Chef Maneet, TOC Champion!
Randolph
This is the premier Indian restaurant in town... always reliable. The menu is broad enough to satisfy most who enter but interestingly, virtually no vegan options. There must not be a call for it in Nashville. Great wine list along with truly professional waiters who know their trade. The smell is heavenly every time we dine here. Reservations are a must unless you dine early. We love to bring out of town guests here!
M. V.
Best Indian food I have ever had! Good quality and prices are reasonable. For some Nashville visitors wanting to try some new food, this is definitely the place to go. The service was also really good - when you visit, make sure you ask for Victoria!
David Morris
We went for a rainy Monday lunch and it was fantastic. got the quinoa chicken salad and it was quite a surprise. Fantastic. we shared a Des favorite platter and it was more than enough great cocktails too. wonderful service. I would highly recommend for a different kind of Nashville restaurant!!!!
Premal
Make reservations ..this place is busy. Lots of hype before we visited this restaurant. Good food, great drinks. Good ambience. Limited veg options. Have had better entrees for vegetarians for paying $20 a dish.
Mark Fuqua
ABSOLUTELY NOT your regular Indian Restaurant! The staff was so professional, friendly, and attentive. The brunch menu was varied but with all your dependable and favorite flavors and tastes. You have to try the roasted brussel sprouts!
steve cantrell
This is great Indian food, but it isn't just Indian food. It is the best of Indian and southern. But it is not great just for that. The individual parts are the best you have had. The rice is the fluffiest you ever had. The curry sauce is the most flavorful. The staff is very helpful and friendly. For an appetizer try the nachos. They are out of this world.
Stickler Construction
It was pretty good, the service was amazing but the food was not as amazing as I had expected seeing who is backing the restaurant in reputation.
We had the serving dishes where you chose your protein and sauce and they were tasty but I've had more flavorful at a local Indian restaurant where I live. We also had pork belly as the appetizer and it had very little flavor at all.

Ordered the chicken vindaloo and it was absolutely delicious! However, do not order this dish if you do not like spicy food, as the vindaloo has a good kick to it. Got the cheesecake for dessert and it was to die for! Also I seem to enjoy nearly their entire drink menu. Great atmosphere and great service! Will definitely recommend trying this place.

My wife and I drove from New Orleans to Nashville specifically to go to Chauhan Ale & Masala House after watching Maneet win TOC. It was 100% worth the 15-hour round trip. I would do it over and over again. Environment/ambiance was perfect. Service was perfect. Food was perfect. Price was very reasonable.
As an added bonus, my wife (a Food Network SUPERFAN) got to meet Maneet Chauhan! We just so happened to walk into her as we were walking from our hotel to the restaurant. Wonderful experience!

They do an awesome job with the more traditional Indian dishes. But their modern indian fusion stuff is outstanding. They're good about having a larger than normal selection of Mantra beers, which are always interesting. I have yet to have a bad meal there. Call in a table ahead of time if you can.

Did not disappoint. Love everything we ordered!

I was so excited to go to Maneet's restaurant and it was amazing. Best appetizers I've ever had. The whipped paneer was delicious.

I don’t think I have ever eaten anything better when it comes to Indian fusion food. I wish I was living here so that I could enjoy this food every weekend. Amazing, creative and fun. If there were 10 stars I would give 11. Victoria was very attentive and caring. Couldn’t have done a better job. Service was amazing too. Made my Nashville experience most memorable.

If anyone out there has a craving for Indian cuisine LOOK NO FURTHER! 4 of us dined here last night, each one of us ordered a different appetizer. 1) Garam masala pork belly: chia poached pears, bourbon cherry, tamarind. 2) tandoori chicken poutine: tandoori chicken, makhani sauce, cheese curds, masala fries. 3) Gol Guppa shots (must try): semolina puffs, black garbanzo, potato, mint cilantro water. 4) Artichoke Pakoras: Fenugreek, chaat masala, eggplant, coconut chutney. All appetizers FANTASTICALLY FLAVORFUL and presentation was on point.
Entrée’s: 1) 28 day dry aged ribeye 16 ounce (amazing and cooked perfectly I paired with a side sauce Vindaloo: Goan sauce, spicy tomato, chili, vinegar oh and with the signature side of Brussels. 2) Masala braised lamb with a side of korma sauce: saffron Cashew sauce, side of naan. 3) Local farm vegetables with Moilee sauce: Quintessential Southern Indian, coconut milk curry with a side of garlic Parmesan naan. 4) Tandoori Pork Chop and I apologize I have forgotten what sauce he paired with this entree.
A Bottle of the Ripasso Recchia “ Le Mauraie”/Italy.
The 4 is us thoroughly enjoyed all appetizers, as well as our entrees. Everything that placed on our table was incredible. Alex, I personally thank you for providing excellent service and Katie (management) one of the best managers I’ve had the pleasure in meeting. Speaking from 25+ yrs experience in the restaurant industry you’ve got it down to a T, work it honey! ( I hope I spelt your name correctly).
Everyone in this establishment was hustling ans working together. Kudos to the chef and the rest of the staff, and thank you again for the wonderful evening, we shall return.

Normally when I travel, I try to avoid having Indian cuisine unless it’s in India, because local authentic cuisine is the speciality in each city right? But my friend recommended this place so highly that we just had to make our way there on a Saturday night in Nashville!
Complementary valet!!!
Don’t go without a reservation! (not on OpenTable so gotta call to reserve!) This place is extremely packed!!!
So instead of ordering their overpriced entrees, we opted for a few appetizers instead so we could try more things! What we had?
Pani Puri Shots: Amazing!
Chicken Tandoori Poutine: A-OK
Pashwari Lamb Ribs: THE BEST!!!!
We had ordered two cocktails too which came out perfect. Total for two was about 75. Pricey but thats for the ambiance and service which most Indian places lack anyway so I won’t complain! Keep up the great work guys! Will be back next time we’re in Nash!

My son and daughter in law took me today for my 63rd birthday lunch. My daughter in law and I had the salmon and I loved it, the skin was crispy, the meat flaky and the sauce was creamy and enhanced the flavor perfectly. The sauteed greens and salsa were well seasoned and the crunch was a nice companion to the salmon. We both enjoyed it. My son ordered the Indian "meat and 3" Thali which was a nice variety with the fragrant and flavorful Indian spices - we all sampled it and were pleased with the flavors and textures. I have read the other reviews and I only agree it's a bit pricey, but no worse than many of the new restaurants that have come into town over the past couple years. We loved it and look forward to returning. I loved the interior and like the size which made it more intimate and warm. Our times was pleasant, we were well tended to and our waiter patiently gave us good information and descriptions of everything we asked about I for one am glad Chef Maneet opened here, but I do wish she had stopped to ask how we enjoyed our meal when she came through, though she did smile and speak.

One of the best meals that I've had in a long time. Great service, beautiful atmosphere, and seriously delicious, unique food. The waitress overheard my husband mentioning it was my birthday, so she had the kitchen prepare a chocolate parfait for me as a gift that was absolutely perfect. Highly recommend!

A perfect dining experience! Food, service, atmosphere are all exceptional! We had the pleasure of meeting Maneet as she visited our table and signed her cookbook for us. If you are in Nashville this restaurant is an absolute must!
