East Nashville has a lot of great places to eat, but Boston Commons is my favorite. I’ve enjoyed almost everything on the menu (including their desserts) and it has never disappointed. The fish, no matter what variety you try, is amazing. I enjoy the English-style the most. If you like grits try their Shrimp & Grits, or a side of Green Chili Grits. The waitstaff are always friendly, affable and helpful as well. There’s a nice bar area as well where they pull a great pint of Guinness!

Go! You will not regret it! I did a scallop dish(fresh veggies and rice had wonderful flavor also) and my husband went with shrimp and grits(that toast!!). Both were absolutely delicious. Fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere. So glad we chose this for out date night! Don't forget to try to clam chowder with grits(last bite pic 😂). I cannot express enough how much we enjoyed our food and experience here. We will be returning to try new dishes.

Really excellent food, I typically avoid seafood in Nashville, but this was the first time I got perfectly cooked shrimp, scallops, and muscles in the 10 years I’ve lived in the area. Really excellent stuff and will definitely make a return trip.

From the phone call for reservations and they were booked but Leon made it happen and we had the best experience from hospitality, service, the food was amazing and the Boston Creme Cake....well don't leave without taking it home if you can't eat it there...delicious!

Ordered online for a Reuben Sandwich. When I tell you this is - hands down - the best Reuben sandwich in all of Nashville, that comes with 30+ years of experience on the subject. Beef is tender and flavorful, not chewy and rubberized. I know these folks are better known for their seafood and I mean no disrespect, but that Reuben is one of the best kept secrets in this city. 10/10.

Came here kinda nervous on a first date with someone I met online and spoke to the hostess, Alexis who was awesome and warned the bartender just in case i needed anything. Crystal was SO attentive, extremely sweet and sets an example for what every bartender should be like. she made me feel so safe, checked on me multiple times, had the owner of the restaurant come check on us not once, but twice. He was also very kind!!! I cannot speak highly enough of the staff. Not to mention the food was phenomenal. I have never had a BETTER restaurant experience. Would definitely recommend the crab cakes they were delicious!!!

Visited the newly renovated Boston Commons (formerly Battered & Fried)…love how the place looks with the large outdoor seating area. Chatted with the greeter (did not get his name) about the changes and he seated me at the bar where Dana greeted me and got me a menu. The new menu is so much better, refined, and matches the theme of the restaurant. Started with a Sam Adams Lager and ordered the Lobster Bites appetizer and went with the Signature Fish & Chips selecting 2x Cod Loins. Now deep frying lobster can be a challenge and turn the meat rubbery…not the case here. These were delicious and I loved the breading along with the spicy aioli dipping sauce (although it really isn’t spicy). I could have done a single cod loin, these things were huge! The breading along with the panko really compliments the fish but also makes the dish stand out from your standard “fish & chips” offerings. The cod was moist and flaky, the fries very good, and the slaw was delicious. I did “accidently” dipped a piece of fish in what was left of the aioli, and I asked Dana for another container of the aioli. The combination of the aioli with the battered fish really was a solid flavor mix and although the tarter sauce was good the aioli hands down really went well with the fish. Great food, service, and a new atmosphere with the renovations after the tornado damage. Great to see Boston Commons rise from the damage even better than before!!!

The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because there was a terrible smell in the restaurant like sewer. Rather than explaining or fixing it, she just offered to seat us outside where the mosquitoes were bad. Service and food were great!

I am thrilled to see that Boston Commons (formerly Batter’d and Fried) is open, up and running again! Although I no longer live on the east side of town, this place is a bona fide reason to cross the river! Our party of 5 dined at the restaurant on a Sunday evening and I was glad to see the business pleasantly packed. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. I am a fan of the fish & chips and the Raging Cajun pasta…but I noticed a new menu item for BC: The Shrimp and Grits. I decided to take a chance on it and was so incredibly glad I did. Admittedly, I am not a huge grits fan, but the flavor of the cream sauce was absolutely delicious with just enough sherry to create a unique (and memorable) flavor. That sounds cheesy and cliché…but oh, so true! I would also love to try this dish over linguine sub for grits – not sure if this is an option, but I will definitely ask next visit. The rest of my party ALL had the fish & ships (trying and comparing all three finishes) and we were all stuffed and satisfied. The restaurant looks great and the staff is all following CDC guidelines on masks and social distancing. I did have to pay $10 to park across the street (grumble), but other than that, our meal was perfect. Oh, and another perfect thing? A delightfully perfect pour of Guinness – one of the freshest in the city!

I'm a fan of fish and chips so I couldn't wait to try this out! I started out with an excellent Boston clam chowder. This appetizer alone is worth the visit. It is a very rich, creamy soup. We also had mussels which were also very good. I ordered their original fish and chips and, while they were good and unique, they didn't hop to the top of my list. The planko heavy breading and thin fish fillet make for a bread heavy ratio. We finished the evening with a Boston cream pie... Which was more cake then pie... And was delicious. Overall, most of the meal was delicious, and I will return and try one of the other entrees...

I love eating at Boston Commons. Good variety of beer, super friendly staff, hood fish and chips, nice sized portions, easy to sit and talk, unpretentious, normally not to hard to get into. They have quite a few styles of Fish and Chips and I have tried them all. My only quandary is for me I like the pub-style fish and chips best, but they use Pollock for that rather than Haddock. if there is a downside as with anywhere in 5 points it is parking, plus I have literally never had them answer the phone when I have tried to call. Skip the Lobster Roll if you have ever had one in Maine. Price is overall a little high - 16 to 19 dollars for Fish and Chips, Honey Dijon Salmon is 26, but not stupidly expensive.

Our first time to dine here and it was wonderful! For starters lobster bites, entree shrimp and grits with a side of slaw, lobster Roll with side of Mac and cheese!! Everything we had was great!! We can definitely give this place 5 stars!! Highly recommend!

Absolutely love this place!! Monday is the best day to go as the sushi is buy one get one half off. Never disappointed when we eat here. The sushi is always fresh and the Fish n Chips are just as scrumptious! The restaurant is always clean and the staff is always friendly. If you have never been to this place before, you must visit it!! Happy Eating!

Really good find. Service was excellent - the waitress was friendly and would check up on us frequently, but not to the point where it was annoying. We ordered Cod, clam strips, and shrimp between the three of us. Food came out in a timely manner, it was cooked well, and more importantly, it tasted fantastic. My issue was with that clam strips. Some bites seemed more like just fried batter and nothing in them. Was a little disappointed, but it was still a good meal. Would visit again.

My husband, 12 year old daughter and I found this place by accident. We decided to take a chance on it, even though my husband doesn't like sea food. We went on a Saturday about 5 and the place was pretty busy already. The wait for a table was short, Our drinks came quick, and the service was great. The longer we sat the more busy it became. Our food was delicious. With great food comes time to prepare and serve, so we knew it may take a little longer for it to come out. When it did it was amazing. We will definitely be going back, and recommended to all of our friends and family. The reason that I did give it 4 stars instead of 5, is because we were seated so close to the people beside us. Again it's no big deal I can just smell the perfume on the lady seated next to me. This is a personal preference of mine just to have a little space to enjoy my dinner. Everything else that was fantastic and definitely recommended.

The food was fried fish. My friend and I split the Sampler Platter, and felt full. I believe the 3 fish included haddock, polluck,, and cod, all 3 with different batters. They also had 3 different, but delicious dipping sauces. High calories, but tasty. For dessert, we had key lime pie, but they also had 5 or 6 different kinds of cheese cake. No Boston Cream Pie...I was sad about that...! I have been here several times, but not lately. They remodeled the patio, took out the parking for more seating. There is a pay to park across the street. I had to change my reservation a couple of times, and if they found it irritating, they didn't let on. Check it out!

The staff were super friendly. The food is a nice change if you are looking for something different. All the Fish & Chips options are great and the salmon dishes are amazing. They have a good cocktail selection and a patio space. There were 4 of us and we all cleaned our plates. We loved the food. The Boston Cream Pie are made in house and will back for just the desserts!

I had a GREAT time tonight at Boston Commons. Highly recommend the bacon-wrapped scallops for starters. The fish and chips sampler platter is awesome. Finished off the evening with Boston Cream Pie. Now I need to go run the Boston Marathon to work it all off. But every bite was just amazing. Great job reopening Matt Charette. Love the new look and the menu.

With the start of the year and like most, you start with a "cleaner" diet. We wanted some sort of seafood last minute and stumbled upon Boston Commons in East Nash via Google. Drove by it plenty of times in the past and just assumed they offered bar food. To our surprise, their menu is primarily seafood so we went with it since their aren't too many seafood options in East. We got the "HONEY DIJON SALMON NORWEGIAN SALMON PAN SEARED AND TOPPED WITH OUR SIGNATURE HONEY DIjON CREAM SAUCE SERVED WITH FRESH VEGETABLE AND ARBORIO RICE." It was fresh and delish! Large portions so they definitely don't cheap out. It was $26, which again, to me was worth it. As an app, we ordered the mozzarella sticks (we had room in our macros). Again, come out very fresh and not overdone... top 3 mozzarella sticks I've had to date. Service was on point, everyone is super chill and nice! We'll be back again.

I went here with my family a few weeks ago for my birthday, and we had a great time. We showed up on a Friday a little after 7:00pm without a reservation, but that had us a table in a few minutes (not saying don't make a reservation, but they were very accommodating on a busy night). The manager who was working up front was extremely personable and very genuine. His check ins didn't feel forced/mandatory, more that he actually cared how everything was going. The wait staff was attentive and prompt, making sure we had what we needed when we needed it. The atmosphere was very welcoming, and great for a party of 2 or 6. Last, but certainly not least, the food was amazing! Everything was fresh, prepared perfectly, and you could tell they cared about what went into making each dish. Highly recommend to locals, as well as anyone visiting. Also, tons of great bars within walking distance for a fun night out!

Love this place!! Ate here on St. Patty’s Day and had a hard time finding a place with an open table for five. There was a long wait because of the time and day we came, but the staff was super kind and very accommodating. We chatted with the owner and could tell that he really appreciated us coming here from out of town. Food was absolutely AMAZING. Highly recommend the fish and chips sampler platter, or spaghetti and meatballs. Amazing experience: great people, food, and atmosphere. Will definitely come back next time I am in town!!

The Best back home feeling!! I'm form Boston and this was the closest thing to home cook food. I enjoyed having the seafood platter, I didn't care for the Cod fish, however the manager brought out a whole new platter with all the trimmings (More shrimp and scallops). When I say the customer service is EXCELLENT!. THANKS FOR HELPING ME CELEBRATE MY MOTHER'S BDAY. She felt like she was home.

The food was solid. I felt the prices were a bit high. The fried seafood was good which is the main attraction. I got the spaghetti which i enjoyed. The lobster roll was good. The caesar salad left something to be desired. The reuben was solid.

By far the BEST service we have had while in Nashville! Not only did we have a large party, but the accommodations and the manager and our server were amazing! So impressed by the staff and how personable they were! Perfect for a nice dinner on the outskirts of the downtown chaos! Highly recommend!

Went for the first time yesterday, July 11 2021. We made a reservation as the website recommended. We walked up, were greeted outside, brought in and seated immediately. Scanned the QR code for menu and was offered a paper one if we preferred. The menu was very diverse from appetizers, salads, fish & chips, to Entree’s, and sandwich’s. Something for everyone. I ordered the New England, Panko breaded Haddock with fries. My husband ordered the pick Two Cod and jumbo clam strips with fries. Our daughter selected the British style Haddock fried in beer batter. We all were please with our portion size quite large, cooked to perfection and the fish was so fresh. Fries were a little cool and under seasoned but good. The food was wicked good, like being home. We will be back to try other selections. Boston baked beans with brown bread was all that was missing. The pictures and signs of Boston was a nice, homey, atmosphere, like sitting in a pub style restaurant in the city before a Red Sox game. Great food, great service, overall great place to go for true New England fish dinner.

This was the first time my fiancée and I have been in here in a few years and we were absolutely blown away. I got the British fish and chips (AMAZING), my fiancée got the salmon Caesar salad (best she’s ever had) and then we got the Boston cream pie, which was absolutely phenomenal. With many of our favorite places to travel too being shut down due to government mandates in the past year, our New England trip had been cancelled and we were craving a taste of Boston. We got it. The seafood was FRESH, not some sysco box of 5 month old breaded at the factory junk. Bring your appetite, the serving sizes are not joke, youbegt your money's worth. Of course no trip to a Boston themed restaurant is complete without Boston Cream Cake, which they just happen to make on site. Manager stopped by to chat, great story to hear of you get the chance. If you're in Nashville and craving a taste of New England, you won't be disappointed. Whole belly clams when they're in season.

This restaurant was a pleasant discovery. The experience was excellent with friendly, fast, and courteous service and a menu with lots of entrees to choose from. Below is picture of the Fried Seaffod Dinner I had. I enjoyed it tremendously. Also, this restaurant has a full-fledged Sushi bar within the restaurant. They serve all types of Japanese items from sushi rolls to sashimi and/or nigiri. I had the Yellowtail Nigiri and was impressed with it taste, freshness, and sushi-grade quality. I know I found a new place for me to visit when I crave sushi. All in all, I definitely recommend this restaurant. Enjoy your visit.

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING, the food is some of the best I've had, there clams are the best I've had in my ENTIRE LIFE, my sister is a fried clam Connoisseur, its all she ever gets an these are the best she's ever had and she's had them in so many states, THEN there's the fish my mom loves fish so she got the fish sampler an let me tell you that could probably feed 2 people at lease so big an so yummy the whole table had some an they were all great just try it. NOW the ABSOLUTE best part was there boston creme pie which they make as a cake WAS SO GOOD im talking the whole table went at this cake like savages, I PROPOSED to the cook over this desert. Just go trust me

Try the Ragin Cagin, it's pretty good as a pasta with tons of chicken and sausage along with a slightly spicy sauce and few more add-ons. The staff are every friendly but the place looks like a last-minutedecision on what it wants to be sushi and southern. Still there take on the dishes draws a crowd and is priced perfectly for you to enjoy your time.

Been a Nash resident for 14 years. Been looking for a legit seafood restaurant for 14 years. I ate here years ago when it was called “battered & fried” and didn’t necessarily love it, but they have done a total REVAMP and “Boston common” is the bomb. Awesome seafood, awesome location, awesome atmosphere, awesome patio, awesome service & staff!!

I've eaten seafood pasta all around the U.S. and I have to say this place has the best I've found. Excellent quality and I would definitely recommend. Their Boston cream pie is exceptional as well. Get it too even if it's to take home and eat later, you won't regret it.

Went for pizza and ended up here! This place was nice. It had a nice menu variety with nothing much over $25. Bacon wrapped scallops done nice. Just work on that sear. Shrimp & Grits my wife ordered I can tell you from the taste of the Sherry Cream Suace with what I think was Truly Aged Parm was a hit & your Burger! Man that was the burger I have been craving! Juicy, Thick, Sweet Fresh Tomatoes & Lettuce Bacon Cheese... man o man he kids loved it too.. Thanks to Who I belive was the FOH MNG who happily accommodated our family of 8 from MN! See yall again.

By far the best service we recieved in Nashville for my wifes 50th Birthday party! We had a group of 14 and were having trouble getting into other places. Good food, pricing was midrange. Location is easy to get to. parking was convenient, if a bit pricy. Waiter was nice, but a bit off his game (missed an item in order, little order glitches) but addressed most issues cheerfully. Food and beverages were excellent.

I had their most popular dish, fried fish and chips, you can choose from one of several types of fish, and a craft beer. Parking is limited to a few spaces so plan on street parking. The New England style fried seafood offerring will keep you coming back.

I have eaten here once. The atmosphere was peaceful. It is an old neighborhood with older buildings. The tables and chairs seem to be as well aged as the building. Blue jeans fit well here. I ordered fish and chips, battered shrimp and a side salad. The food was all great, and the staff were friendly. The portions of fish and shrimp were large enough to make me feel like I got my moneys worth. The manager came out to check our order and took our salads off the check because they came out after the entree was already on the table. Overall great service and great food.

From the outside it looks a bit run down. Don't let that scare you away. Our server was very friendly and helpful. I had the fried oysters with house fries. The fries were a bit soggy but the oysters were very good and plentiful. I'd estimate there were 15. Reasonable prices. They also have sushi. I asked a couple of college girls who were having sushi before i left and they said the sushi was good also. I'll have to try it next time. Update: I did return and did try the sushi. It was good for middle Tennessee. What you might expect from a restaurant that does not specialize in sushi. It was fresh and tasty but standard sushi. I did also get the fries again. I didn't know I could have asked for extra crispy fries the first time so I did this time and the were crispy! In addition, the manager came out to make sure things were fine. Nice place and very friendly staff. A definite plus! Do be careful about the parking There is a big sign in the lot right next door that clearly states it's a lot for another business and that your car might be towed! Park in front, not on the side to be safe.

Just finished our lunch from here. This was our first time dining at this restaurant. My husband has eaten fish and chips from the New England area up north, and he said Batter'd fish and chips is definitely better than what he's had. I had their sushi and salad, and it was so good. Our group of 10 visiting from Ohio and Kentucky stumbled upon Batter'd and Fried on Saturday evening after having difficulty finding a restaurant that would accommodate a group of our size. We were happily greeted by a gentleman outside of the restaurant who was happy to get us a table. Our server was quite attentive and very pleasant. The manager stopped by our table several times during our visit to ensure everything was going well for us. The drinks were stiff and the food was absolutely incredible. I've not ever been out with a group that size who all enjoyed every dish. We all were very pleased with the service and quality of the food and drinks at Batter'd and Fried and can guarantee that we will be making a trip here next time we are in Nashville.

We have eaten at this restaurant for six or seven times and I’ve enjoyed it immensely until the last two. I give it three stars because the service and the quickness of serving the food is excellent. The last time and this time the quality of the food seems to be diminished. The clam chowder was wonderful as usual. We ordered the fried seafood platter. The clam strips were very tough and chewy and seemingly old. The taste of the fried food was tainted with the taste of old oil and the oysters were very small and mostly batter. I explained this to the manager as I was leaving and his response was the comment “OK”. We will probably not return for the eighth time and I wanted to explain to the manager in person. Leaving and not returning without comment does not help the Resturant improve. I am also leaving a review here so others would know what transpired .

Servers and bar staff are fantastic! Bar has "man cave" feel, in that it is very homey and comfy. Food is absolutely phenomenal, especially the fish and chips, homemade soups, and the Wave Roll (sushi). Check them out Mondays and Tuesdays for sushi and fresh oyster specials!

I've been coming here for about 4 years and I have to say the service is definitely hit or miss. Last night, the food took more than 30 minutes, which happens, but our server was not the least bit attentive. After taking our order, he never came back until after our food was served. I wouldn't have minded the delay had he just checked in or refilled our drinks...anything. He was busy watching the game or completely avoiding us when he checked the tables next to us. I'm pretty bummed out guys.
