Everything about our visit was awesome! Our server was super friendly and helpful, the restaurant was clean and inviting, and the food was delicious! All the portion sizes were very generous, and the quality was terrific. Where some restaurants use frozen french fries, they make their fries fresh.

When you walk into this restaurant you feel like you are walking into their home. The owners were so warm and welcoming and cared just as much about our little ones having a wonderful experience as they did us. The food was fresh and delicious. The spanakopita was some of the best we’ve had, made with freshly chopped dill and parsley. We will definitely visit again when we’re in the area.

The food was absolutely delicious. My hubby and I went for my birthday. We got the hummus for an appetizer. For our entrees we got the Kotopita and Bifteki. Wow! The food was so yummy. For dessert we got the baklava. Every bite was amazing. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Had a bunch of friends come into town to celebrate New Years here in Nashville. One of them is of Greek descent, so I took them to my favorite Greek restaurant here in my hometown. They did not disappoint at all. Everyone thought the food was amazing, especially my friend from Greece! Our young waitress was very attentive and nice! The restaurant was clean as were the restrooms! Definitely recommend 🙌💥

Excellent service, cool atmosphere and convenient location across from Belmont. Now for the food, the spanikopita is the absolute best I have ever had, No tzaziki needed. Its a huge portion! The calamari was perfectly breaded and seasoned, but the true all star is the house made marinara sauce. I mean, WOW!! I will make the two and half hour drive for that marinara! This is a must try!

Upon entering I was impressed with the friendliness not to mention the speed at which we received service. Being from Wisconsin and also being HANGRY, I immediately asked about the bar and my frown was instantly turned upside down by being informed by our lovely 🥰 waitress (and hostess) that it was a strict BYOBooze policy after that everything was soooo good I actually ordered more Togo! I can’t wait to return

Excellent! That was my salmon. It was perfectly crisp on the top and moist in the middle! I always ask if fresh or frozen because I'm picky about my salmon, but I forgot. It must have been fresh, this was delicious. My husband ordered falafel and said it was the best he's ever had. It's been several years since we have been here, and they had moved from the other location, I'm so glad we decided to find them!

Whatever they’re doing they’re doing it right. Amazing food! I don’t know what else to say but you need to come here and right it. Thebomb.com. We got the Gyro Burger which tastes so good, it’ll make you want to throw something. Traditional Gyro, which tastes better than any Gyro I’ve had. Olive Medley was full of flavor, some of the best pita I’ve had in all of the lands. Come get kicked in the shine from this Flavortown must.

Nice authentic Melitzanosalata. Good amount of acid. Interesting Spanakorizi (Rice with Spinach). Large portion of Suzukakia, but they were dense and dry, even soaked in a pasty tomato sauce (thickened like a gravy almost!!) "Moussaka" was a HUGE serving. Enough for 4. Tasted great and the bechamel was excellent and golden brown. Made with more zucchini than eggplant however! A first for me. Unexpected as I don't like zucchini and it is not traditional although it is specified on the menu 😣 The Bughatsa, Bouyatsa on the menu, was dry! No honey or syrup whatsoever! Not even on the side! Nice custard and we'll cooked filo but I will not be saving it for breakfast 😥

The food, staff, and service was great, my only complaint would be that they don't have any lamb. The owner came out and talked to us and explained that like the rest of the world, they're short on staff. He said that so much goes into preparing and cooking lamb, and he doesn't have time without help. It was our first time trying Greek food, and we loved every bit of it. If we ever go back to Nashville, we will definitely be visiting again.

I look forward to stopping at restaurants that triple D has visited. Want to see if their place lives up to the hype that it has received. Got their Reuben and it was good. Just love finding the places that I will make sure to come back. l may come back. Definitely saw other items I believe I would have liked better. Their breakfast items look very good. These places are always better than any fast food place. Glad we visited.

I walked into this place on Sunday at 10:30 after seeing the lines at a few of the other breakfast spots in the neighborhood. I wasn’t sure if the place was open when I walked in because there were only 2 tables with people sitting at them. I had a weird feeling about this place from the beginning. Service was very slow and the French toast was undercooked. I wanted a side of berries off the menu but the server said that they didn’t have enough.

We had heard good things about the Athens Family Restaurant. We had the Greek meatballs and the Greek chicken. The soup was good, as well. Samar, out server was fantastic. She recommended a custard pastry for dessert that was great. It was a great experience. We will be returning.

Great service, great food, and overall amazing staff. Our server Monique was the sweetest, made sure we always had water, and was good about checking up on us every now and then. Samar and the chef Mohammed were so kind too! Menu is full of many different options as well! Highly recommend!

I ordered catering for my birthday from Athens and let me just say, I have never experienced better customer service in my life. Every dish was instilled with so much love and all my guests could tell. They each repeatedly asked which restaurant it came from and showered the meal with compliments the entire night. When I picked up the food, Samar was clearly passionate about his craft, and his genuine joy for life was delightful. To make up for not singing me happy birthday, he gifted me a few pieces of DELICIOUS baklava. Samar followed up the next day to see if everything went well, again showing his attention to detail. If you're shopping around on where to go, choose Athens.

Food is good but they don’t give you taziki and when you do want some it’s $2 for this tiny ramican. Who wants a gyro without taziki? You can get ur gyro, no taziki -Chief Keef

Visited for breakfast, shall return for dinner. Greek omelet with Feta very good. Grits put many other southern oriented restaurants to shame. And now addicted to "Moroccan Whiskey" (homemade green & mint tea). Pita bread toast very good. Like many establishments, sadly, today, short on staff, but well worth the wait!

My fiancé and I ate here on a Friday night at 5:00. It wasn’t super busy, but the food was amazing! Normally I’m not a big salad person, but the Greek salad I had with my pastichio was INCREDIBLE. I enjoyed every bite and everything was so fresh. I go to the Greek Food Festival in Birmingham every year and this food was so much better!

Wonderful experience for a private event. Best food you'll get for the price, we had the whole restaurant and they even made off menu items. I suggest them as a first round choice anytime you're looking at a large event.

Came here for brunch on Sunday, food was pretty good, I ordered eggs bacon and pancakes and all were fine. Main complaint is that service was very slow. It probably took 45 mins for our food to come out which was confusing since they were only a few other tables in the restaurant. After reading some other reviews mentioning this It seems like that this may be common for sundays, so maybe try to come another day.

This will always be a 5-star place for me. The service is amazing, the food is tasty, and the quantity for the price is excellent. Food: We had the sampler platter that had spicy feta, hummus, and mashed eggplants served with a side of pita. Each was excellent and fresh. When we ran out of pita, our server was kind enough to bring out extra pita to “finish off the dips.” The gyro platter was huge. Excellently seasoned, extremely tasty, and served with really crispy fries topped with feta. Can’t have a more tasty meal for that price anywhere! I will say that the vegetarian pita was slightly lacking. Vegetables were bland, so if they could add more sauces or spices, it’d be a solid option. Overall I am very pleased with these experiences and I will keep coming back!

Best Pastry Baklava EVER! Great service, excellent food, good prices, and diner atmosphere! We were greeted and seated right away for a delicious sample platter of fresh pitas with hummus & feta with olives. The lamb burger with bacon had a lot of flavor. I had the kotopita with chicken, veggies wrapped in a flakey crust of goodness! Worth the travel to Nashville and we will be back!

Our family enjoyed our experience at Athens Family Restaurant. To be honest the place was not what I was expecting. I was thinking it would be a Greek menu equivalent of the Anatolia restaurant on White Bridge Road, but was surprised to find out it is actually a family style restaurant as it’s name implies. Not only does Athens Family Restaurant have the basic Greek staples of beef and lamb, they also serve american style dishes. There is a weekly special menu on which there was nothing Greek. Soup, Pasta, Burgers, Souvlaki, Shank, Salad, Seafood, or Chicken there is something for everyone. We ordered htipiti and bread for our ορεκτικό. If you have not had this greek appetizer spread, you may confuse it with with a variation of hummus at first glance...how do I know? It’s what I was expecting. While also delicious, think more along the lines of a spicier pimento cheese with a creamier texture. A couple olives made the last bite fun. One kid got a Greek salad, another a gyro, and my wife and I both got the Bifteki platter. The γυρο was huge and came with fries. The μπιφτεκια was tender, juicy, and the yogurt was good. The platters came with salads as sides and had tasty tomatoes, cucumbers, and feta cheese on them. The bread was soft, pliable, and good- but I would be surprised if it was baked in house. I let the waitress pick my other side and she picked some sort of potatoes. After they were all eaten I unashamedly picked up the cup and drank the remaining creamy, soupy, juice which actually bordered a potato soup. The service was awesome. At one point our waitress sat at our table with us and at another she told our kids with a motherly resound “I will bring you more sprite and doctor pepper when your food comes so you don’t fill up on drinks.” It was as if she read mine and my wife’s minds. I didn’t eat any of the baklava so I can’t tell you about it’s taste or texture. However, I can tell you none that my family ordered made it home with the leftover bread and gyro. Stop in and eat at this place at least once, and ask to sit in Monique’s section.

I have been looking for an authentic Greek place for quite a while, finally found it. The food was absolutely delicious. The gyro was cooked and seasoned to perfection, big portion, fluffy pita bread. The dolmades were huge. Very flavorful, with a light lemon dressing. The salad, plenty large enough to share even though we got a small. Delicious dressing, very fresh. This place is an absolute do over, Food Network did a show here.

I stopped by Athens with some friends from work on a Friday night and it was surprisingly easy to find a parking spot, considering the day and time. The restaurant has a very mom & pop ambiance and to top it off, they had a live duo playing music. Very nice and comfortable. We started off with hummus and Spanakopita, both of which were wonderful. For the entree I decided on Kotopita (described to me as a Greek pot pie) with a side of Dina's Potatoes, which was an excellent choice. Sadly, I didn't have room for dessert. If you're in the area definitely check out Athens!

Excellent!!! I had a fabulous Greek Eggs Benedict with a fresh, lemony Hollandaise sauce. My hubby had the Bacon Lamb Burger which we later learned was on Triple D. Oh my...so glad he let me have a bite. Perfectly cooked and DELICIOUS! Our amazing waitress Monique said the owner asked her to check to make sure my husband was pleased with how the burger was cooked. Since it was already half eaten, she could tell he liked it! We were early, but be prepared to wait. Like most restaurants, they are struggling with staff shortages. Belmont and Vandy students - this would be a great place for a part-time job!! They will work with your schedule - you just have to show up and work when you say you will. :)

I have been to Athens a few times lately, and every single time, my family and I have been absolutely blown away!! Whether we are getting to-go or dining in, the owner and serving staff take such good care of us. Monique is a wonderful server, and y’all make sure to ask for her! Their food is high quality with being reasonably priced. Definitely suggest starting with the mezze and maybe adding on an extra side of falafel. This a Nashville staple, and I could not recommend Athens more!

I have mixed feelings about this place, I'll start off by saying I don't particularly care for the parking situation here, The young lady waiting tables was very nice, and the waitress I had was nice too. However there are some cleanliness issues that do not seem to be taken care of here. The food was good I had the Traditional Gyro. However I could not help but notice that the wait was very long I waited an hour for my food, and I also couldn't help but notice the guy in the kitchen was on his phone, which was probably why it was taking so long. I would still come back but there needs to be some improvement here.

Born and raised here and today was my first time trying this place!! Couldn’t believe what I tasted . First off the customer service was amazing I felt as if I was at home the lady that greeted me and took my order was somebody I can never forget. It’s the way we connected so fast. Lol I stopped by this morning because my car was nearby getting work done this was the closest spot near to me. If you want to try something new and real deal this is the spot. I got a order of short stack original pancakes 2 eggs and bacon . Oh and some guy actually paid for my food !! I love it here and definitely will be back again. Such amazing workers and owners.

I have been to this restaurant many times and the food is always great! They recently moved on Belmont and are still getting things in order. I called to place an order and spoke with Mohammed. He didn't have what I requested but said that he would get it for me the next day. I called the next day and spoke with him and he told me he would call me when my food was ready. He called and helped me to find the new location and even gave me the food on the house! he was and is phenomenal! He went above and beyond to make sure I was a satisfied and happy customer. I will keep coming back here. THANKS

Oh. My. Word. I’ve literally never had BETTER Greek food! I found this place from the Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives website and I was not disappointed. I had the Kotopita (absolutely scrumptious) with Spanakorizo. I tried the Spanakorizo first and I was blown away by how amazing it was, and then I took a bite of the Kotopita. HEAVEN!! Do you know that TikTok doing where it says “the flavors were melting in my tongue” that’s what the food was like. I’m not really a leftover type of person but I wish I could eat this forever. If I vomited, i would eat the vomit and then some more of this food. If I could give this place a higher rating than five I would. Thank you for having me experience this amazing amazing amazing food.

Some of the greatest food I've ever eaten. This was my third visit and my second large group. Service was a bit slow because one girl was doing it all. She was very nice and did her best. I had a bacon lamburger and it was incredible. The three year old twins had banana pancakes and loved them.

The food here is amazing! I've been in for breakfast before but my wife and I came in last week for dinner! Best greek food in Nashville that I have found so far. I got the mixed grill kabob with Athens fries. My wife ordered the greek style chicken with rice pilaf. Said the rice pilaf was some of the best rice she's had. I would recommend to anyone! For breakfast, I've had the western omelet with home fries and and extra side of fruit. Great casual breakfast spot to also get some work done on my computer.

Our new favorite Greek eats! We had a lovely experience this evening. We did arrive for dinner pretty early so we had no wait. Our waitress was super sweet, friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. She has actually tried most items to be able to give her best recommendations, love that! We did get the calamari as an appetizer and our only complaint for the meal was it was a bit overcooked. Now our dinner was perfect, I had chicken souvlaki and my hubby had the seafood pasta. What a great meal. We will be back.

Waitress was really nice and accommodating. Food was fresh, salad quality was good and crisp, drinks never ran out, food portions were big, and food tasted excellent. We stopped here on the way to Mississippi from New York and it was well worth it! Would recommend. Pricing was around $10-12 per person.

3.5. Decent. Not the best I've had but it served its purpose for a lunch meal while at work. I had the combo gyro and chicken plate. Meat is seasoned well but portions are just ok. Not taking anything away but once you've experienced something really good, it's hard to deviate from that. I would go back but at least I know what to expect.

Their salmon was very juicy and the pilaf was also very good. However, their menu can be limiting or sometimes their hours can vary. So please call them before you head out there.

We had a great Waitress named Monique who gave us great Service and was very kind. She was there when we needed her and the food was delicious. It came out fast and on time. Every Friday and Saturday they have a bass and guitarist who will play delightful music.We had a great time there.

Hands down best baklava in town and I’ve tried many. It is homemade which not a lot of places are doing these days. Buttery and rich without being too sweet or chewy. You will not regret eating here. This place feels like your family kitchen and they just want you to have the best of the best. 10/10

Looking over into the kitchen, I saw the cook texting and prepping food with his mask below his chin. It was a bit disappointing but I will come back to try it again since I think it was just an off day.

My review of Athens is limited due to my being a pescatarian. I love everything about the menu and food for someone who doesn't eat meat. All the meat eaters I know say it's fantastic. Diner atmosphere, great breakfast as well. Service is always fast but they don't hold your hand all through the meal. One of my favorite places for 12 years and counting.

Breakfast food was fine, but the service was here was horrible. Took 15 minutes just to get someone to give us water. The young wait staff was just sitting at the bar the entire time on their phones not attending to any of their customers in the restaurant. When you walk into the restaurant it doesn't look like anything special. But when the food appears you realize you've found something special. We sampled many Greek dishes and all were excellent. but the moussaka was to die for, the best I've ever, not just flavor-wise, but also the consistency. Moussaka can be very heavy, but this was light and airy, and at the same time a real flavor bomb.

Still amazes me that they can offer such a huge menu, many of their items are not easy to prepare. This place is truly a Nashville treasure and I simply cannot praise their quality and service enough. I always dined in before the Coronavirus and while they still offer this (in a controlled fashion, of course) but their carryout is exceptional! Athens family restaurant is a consistent, friendly, and well priced restaurant with quick service. They have a menu for all eaters, including breakfast all day. I have visited for both and have not been disappointed. Very authentic gyro and tzatziki, but the kopitas can't be beat. Honestly the fries are amazing too, crispy but moist with a bit of feta crumbles. I go there about once or twice a month and the restaurant is always packed but the wait is never over fifteen or twenty mins. I encourage all to visit and taste the food Guy Fieri enjoyed, even if you want a different dish.

My fiance and I came to nashville to visit The Parthenon and to keep with the greek theme we wanted some sort of greek or Mediterranean food and we almost just chose to go to a bigger chain of Mediterranean restaurant but we're so glad we didnt. We found this place last second. I'm so glad we did. The food was amazing, there was live music on the weekend, the staff was very kind and made sure multiple times that everything was going perfectly and that our food was the best it could be. It's not some big fancy place but it doesn't need to be. It feels like a family restaurant. We loved it. My fiance and I will be back to eat here every time we visit Nashville.

I got the bifteki platter. It was excellent. The only complaint i have is the amount of bread you get. If you got a full pita i would e have been good. But you only get half a pita, cut in half, which is not enough for the two meat patties that cone with it.

Anyone who really wants authentic Greek food not the typical fast food needs to go here. We had calamari and it was cooked just right and not chewy. The dolmades are huge and have an excellent taste. Even though they are huge they are soft. The suzukaki are to die for. Usually they are made small in Greece but these are huge and the taste had the right amount of spices and was also soft. The lamb beefteki was cook with lamb with lemon on it. When getting the dinner definitely get the avgolemeno soup(lemon chicken rice) and the spanokorizo with it. You will not go wrong! Save room or take home dessert because that to is homemade. To the cook....Yas ta heria sou!

This looks like a little dive restaurant but their food is AMAZING! When I worked in Nashville, a friend and I visited here EVERY Monday for 4 years straight. So, I have tried almost everything on the menu. My lunch/dinner favorites are the Spanakopita, Vegetarian Moussaka, Greek salad w/ chicken and the Veggie Pita. The eggplant dish was awesome and there is a dish with fish and tomato sauce that was awesome as well. Their sweet tea and French fries are great. I really enjoy this place alot. I am not a fan of greek food (others ive eaten have been greasy and gives me heart burn) but I must say the greek platter was very delicious, so far then next day I havent had heart burn and it didnt taste greasy! The service was great and our order was taken within minutes of arriving, the wait on the food to be brought to us was not long. I forgot her name but the one that took pur order was curteous, great customer service and attentive. For a Tuesday night it was pretty full and Im glad I didnt have to wait a long time to receive the food. My mother also enjoyed the food. I plan on returning in the near future to try a different dish.

My wife and I came in late on a snowy Tuesday evening. Although it was nearly closing and there were no other customers and the staff were about to go home they kindly seated us. I had a gyro and my wife a kleftico which came with chicken soup. The food was delicious and with (non alcoholic) drinks came to under $30. They don't serve alcohol but you can bring your own.

Nestled in the body of what I believe was an old Captain D's sits Athens, which totally has whatever food you need to forget the night you had before. Don't be scared if you see a Guy Fieri stencil on the wall. I think they've washed the place well enough to get any diseases he might have left out of it. I generally go with the omelettes and have some of my wife's messacan'tfigureoutthespelling (eggplant jelly like substance,) but everything is good here. It's good for drunks stumbling across the street at night, and it's good for kids when there aren't the living dead from the ML Rose scarfing down fatty hangover cures.
