Reviews of Wakame Sushi & Asian Bistro
Joey Henzlik
Been coming here since day 1. George and his crew run a top notch sushi restaurant. Best in the twin cities. No question. Sushi is still as delicious as it's was long ago. Outdoor seating has a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. Highly recommend the avacado salad and the Wakame roll. The place was packed and our order came out in reasonable time. Thanks
Banle Gaar
As one friend said, "I've never seen it not busy". You might want to be safe and get a reservation. Second time in here, both similar experiences.
We came in on a Monday night and barely got a table for three. A typical American/Japanese sushi place. Since it's always full get apps or non sushi to start because you will also be waiting for your sushi. It's a fine place, budget sushi.

One of the best sushi places, if not the best, in the Twin Cities area. I have tried majority of their sushi bar options and also specialty rolls and they are all great. They also have a happy hour when you can beat the traffic, while you can’t beat the prices! Overall, Highly recommended.

Elegant dining interior. Great service even in busy times. I loved the variety of sushi and the quality is amazing. The plates are big and portions are huge. They have happy hour and great prices for sushi and beers and cocktails.
Joseph Strohmeyer
Wakame is the Best Sushi in Minnesota. Súper high end food and great service and friendly professional staff. Very nice atmosphere and great outdoor dining during the nice weather months. Wakame is a must for all Sushi enthusiasts. The owner is a very kind and friendly guy.

My husband, mother in law, and I tried this one Friday night for dinner. It was a last minute decision so we made reservations online. There is a large parking lot but several businesses share it so parking wasn’t super easy. There was still a wait to get in but we head over anyway for a pre dinner drink. We were able to order a round of drinks and sit outside while we wait. We had so many options to choose from the large menu. I was so impressed by all of the different rolls and sake variety. They had many fun cocktails which is always exciting to me!! I did the mango margarita which was as beautiful as it was tasty. I actually don’t love mango flavoring but the girls at the table next to us were raving about them so I went for it and was not disappointed. I decided to go with a hot appetizer and side of mashed potatoes. The short ribs were pretty fatty and chewy, which i didn’t enjoy as much as I’d like. The potatoes were garlic mashed and had good flavoring but were pretty dry. I will have to try the sushi rolls next time because based on toothed reviews, they sound like they are the main event!

I loved the mango sushi and the mango tuna sushi. I will always come back for it. The crazy monkey rolls tasted insane and good. I did not like the pad thai tho. Maybe it was made in a hurry i think because there were so many people. The server was so nice and perfect. The price was worth it. 9/10 definitely will go again

This is the best sushi in all of Minneapolis! I had the escolar sashimi, the tootsie roll, the Bentley roll, and the Wakame roll. The Bentley roll had the perfect amount of spice and even came with its on specials dipping sauce. The sauce complimented the roll well. The sushi was very fresh, tasty, and the perfect temperature. I highly recommend this place if you’re in the area!

Love this place! Good food and good service! Pictured ( Top to bottom) :
Dragon Roll
Temptation Roll
Apple Teriyaki Salmon served with Asian vegetables and jasmine steamed rice
Other favorites include the B M W roll and Crunch Roll.

Food was awesome, service was awesome.
Only issue was how long it took to get our first order of 2 signature rolls (45 minutes).
After that, the third and fourth showed up within 30 minutes.
We were not in a hurry, but ...
Alexandra Dickison
One of the best sushi spots in the Twin Cities - hands down! The service was ok, but the food specifically the sushi tastes amazing! We were told our sushi was going to take an hour after ordering because it was extremely busy, but it ended up coming quick!
Allison
Calamari is amazing. We always go for the panang curry. It’s delicious and big portions. Sashimi was average.
Recommend calling for a reservation but know you still will have to wait 15-20 min. Without can be 30-40 min on a Friday-weekend
Jeffrey Geshick
This is easily my favorite sushi spot. The happy hour is great. And the service is always spot on!
Aysha Holtz
Everything was great except for John. He was a host lead, he came up to our table (party of 2) frantically and asked us to move tables because his team was unprepared for a reservation of 6. So we moved to a table that could’ve been turned into a 6 top. Then, later on in our meal he converted the table right next to us into a table for 6 very hastily, invading my friend’s space and brashly setting down a chair almost hitting her head — mind you, it wasn’t busy at this point in the night. I would recommend him to slow down and treat customers with more kindness. Sam, the other host, was very nice and calm.

Oh man, this place is so good! Really great staff as well! They were fast and the food was sooo good. I spilled my drink and they just got me a new one and cleaned it up right away. They said it was no big deal, as I was so embarrassed! Definitely tipped the guy that cleaned up my pop on the carpet. He was super nice!!!!
Sara Smith
Sushi was yummy and staff was kind, but it was very slow service, and they were very busy. We went on a Thursday night and waited about 25 minutes after being sat down to order. Another 35 for the sushi to come out (we ordered 3 rolls). About another 20 to get the check. We had to ask a different worker to ring us up so we could leave. I think it would be great on a day it wasn't so crowded.
There are some basic rolls for $5 - $8. All the good rolls (good, in my opinion) were above $10.50. Expect to pay about $18-$25 per adult meal.

This place is amazing, great customer service as well as great seating areas. The food here is amazing and worth trying. I highly recommend 🥰 …
Eddie Mend
Very fun happy hour and great sushi. I recommend for dinner or happy hour spot. The wine and plates are priced so well and you get more than you pay for.
Edgar Alfonzo
One of the best sushi restaurant in town!
Try Hamachi Kama is Grilled Yellowtail collar is unbelievable!!
Matthew Simmons
Great prices and great tasting food. I really love sushi and they have amazing vegetarian options and it was such a good experience. We will be coming back!!
Tana Gygi
My only request from y’all is to clean your menus and refresh your drink list. Aside from that, the food is fire. My mom *always* order the cashew chicken with fried rice. My go-tos are Szechuan edamame (off menu item), gyoza, crazy monkey roll, crunpy roll, and the BMW roll. The lychee martini is also so bomb. The only picture I took is my empty plate of the Szechuan green beans. We literally dipped our rolls in the sauce. So good.
annabanana
Excellent sushi. Some of the best in the Twin Cities (but I also feel like we've been knowing that). Have really enjoyed my two experiences here.
Alyssa Larson
Absolutely loved everything we tried! Far better than anything I’ve had in Rochester where I live. 10/10
Luisa Spizzotin
Nice place, nice staff. I didn't try sushi but salads were rich and good. Not expensive. It has a large garden with umbrellas and dining outside was a pleasure.
Erik Larson
The best sushi restaurant in the city. I tend to still get the chicken teriyaki, but you will not find a better place for Asian cuisine than Wakame. It’s also perfectly located to be within walking distance of the lakes. The patio has some great seating as well!
Yomiyu Hirpa
The vibes are nice, the food is good and reasonably priced. Pictured is the Korean Short Ribs, the sauce is spicy but so delicious!
Melissa Vandersteen
Love! This is my go to place for sushi. I’ve never had a bad roll! Sometimes the service could be a bit better as I wait for refills or have to go to the bar for my drink to be refilled myself (and it’s just water or pop). But otherwise great food!
Ankit Agarwal
This place serves some really very delicious Sushi and Asian food. The best part is that they also
have vegan and vegetarian Sushi! The service is very good and the ambiance is also very good. The prices are a little on the higher side. They can get really busy at times, wait times of hours. So, if you are planning to go there, make sure you have plenty of time or make reservations before you go.
The only bad part is that the food taste can sometimes vary a lot depending on how busy they are, which is something they really need to work on!
Anil Chandiramani
Wakame has unique and delicious options (plural) for vegetarians -- not the usual single vegetable wrapped in rice. The best part is that the prices of the veggie options are actually incredibly reasonable -- far, far cheaper than any roll with meat (as should always be the case). Finally, the service was great!
Colin Baartman
This place USE TO BE the sushi place to go to. I’m not sure what happened, but their service and care for the customer has gone completely out the door. We were never texted (as they directed us would happen) about our sushi order being ready. When I finally went inside to ask about it 10 minutes after it was suppose to be ready, they said it was ready, and it had been for 30+ minutes. You could clearly see the sushi was not fresh, and I asked them to remake it. The girl working the counter refused, and then proceed to charge my card twice for the sushi. Sushi quality was terrible, service was absolutely the rudest it’s ever been, and it feels like she purposefully charged me twice.
My wife had been pregnant and this was our first sushi in 9+ months. Very very disappointed and repulsed by the way Wakame treated us. We will NEVER go back.
Adrian
AMAZING sushi!! 100% worth the price. I ordered several rolls for my birthday and this is now my go-to sushi place. I’ve tried many other sushi restaurants in Minneapolis and this one is by far the best, I’ll never go back to anywhere but here.
Elizabeth Davis
Had a great time here! The warm sake was amazing and so was the sushi. We tried the BMW rolls and other varieties of sushi. Highly recommend checking this spot out, no matter what level of sushi enjoyer you are!
Courtney DesMarais
Great selection of dishes and sushi. Really wonderful unique rolls and classic rolls executed very well. All four of us felt very happy with the quality of service and fish!
This place was really busy but you never felt rushed or ignored. And the atmosphere feels comfortable yet exciting. I got the yellowtail Sashimi, Sunrise Roll, and the BWM roll!
Patrick Kimbrough
Stopped into this little gem to pick up dinner Togo. I was impressed with the interior of the restaurant it looked like a nice place to come back to a date night or outing with friends. All the staff we encountered were nice and accommodating and while we waited for the food we sat at the bar and ordered drinks. Drinks were a nice selection and a very wallet friendly. My reason for the 4 stars was the chicken fried rice. This is the first time I have been disappointed with fried rice, a complete lack of flavor and seasoning. But Will definitely be returning for to try the sushi
The SRT God
With the covid-19 at a lot of places you need to have a reservation! So that what we did for 7:30pm and we didn't get in till 8:10! With that being said the food was good and the service was great! The egg rolls were good and those wantons are yum!!! We ordered sushi rolls and those were good! I just have a hard time paying a ton of money when you can do all you can eat for a lot less! But definitely a place to go and try!!
Trung Nguyen
Top 3 places for sushi in the twin cities. Clean and cozy atmosphere. Easy to carry a conversation and the sushi is great! I recommend the yellowtail cheeks (hamachi Kama). Cocktails are good, but not great. Hence the 4 stars.

Awesome night out. Place gets so busy it takes a little while during peak times to get your Sushi....Server was so nice she kept updating us and giving us snacks to keep us welcome 🙂........there is another new Sushi place in Glen Lake Mtka, that the food is just as awesome and the costs are a bit lower.......//
Jaycee Turnquist
That food was awesome 1st time I bevered sushi and I love it

SO happy my favorite sushi restaurant is doing well during these unprecedented times. The vibe and food here is one that is hard to match. Can’t wait to make another visit soon. George, the owner is such a nice guy and really puts his heart into his restaurants. The sushi rolls are definitely my favorite here, but in case you don’t like sushi, they have plenty of dishes you might really like.
Stephen Himmerich
Great happy hour pricing made sushi and drinks an appetizing deal. The sushi itself was decent for the price and the spot itself was great for a casual dinner experience.
Stephen Shimizu
Great experience all the way around. Soy sauce dispenser pours a bit quicker than ideal. Calamari was very tasty as was egg rolls.
Cal P
Wakame is by far our favorite place for sushi. The sushi is delicious and fresh. We really like the happy hour prices for sushi and drinks. The staff is always friendly and quick. George, the Owner, seems to always be around making sure everything is going great and helping out his staff. Great place with a great atmosphere. The outdoor patio is nice too.

Update!
Came in for a quick lunch. The Bento Box is so good and worth the value! would not come after lunch hour because it’s always busy.
Things have changed since COVID restrictions. I placed a pick up order. I did not receive my order which was quoted to be done in about 30 minutes. 2 hours later, I received a text message stating my order was ready. I did not go back for it. There is no happy hour so I don’t think the crowds and hassle is worth it.
Matt Daniel
A busy and popular sushi establishment with an excellent selection of roles and salads. A word of caution that it may be particularly busy on Saturday nights so expect the wait to be a while and the food to be prepared a little longer. I suggest either calling about a reservation or put your name down on the waitlist in advance. Otherwise, it is well worth the time to enjoy the great tasting sushi and associated dishes (including the seaweed salad). Hope this helps!
Monte Goldberg
First time there it was fantastic sashimi was fresh and really good. Place is busy so make reservations.
Really enjoyed this place give it a try if you haven't already been there.
Carl
Happy hour sushi is pretty good, rolls are priced pretty reasonably. The food didn't really wow me, but it was a satisfying meal nonetheless. The nigiri is a bit pricey compared to the sushi. Didn't feel like the quality of the fish justified the price. It's always pretty busy during dinner, even on weekdays so call up for reservations and wait times. If you have to wait, they'll notify you through text so you can go to the whole foods nearby and buy some stuff if needed.
Alex Kyhto
The rolls are the main attraction, spectacular. Nigiri are about as good as you can expect in the middle of a continent. Curry is really good and huge portion size.
Yana Podo
I do say this is a very popular place, especially on the weekends. Highly recommend reservations. The BMW roll is my favorite, followed by the Minnesota roll. Weekends have happy hour after 9:30, make sure you ask for the list. It gets pretty loud tho which was kind of annoying. But what makes me uncomfortable was this place needs a deep cleaning. See attached to see they’re lovely cob webs and very dusty walls. So nice place just avoid sitting in any corners.
Dheenu Sivalingam
Good place to go and get some sushi. Hot and Spicy Grill Roll and BMW Roll are must have for this Resturant. Mock-tails are very expensive here. Happy hour sushi prices are good for the quality you get.
Jessica Lee
Wonderful service and amazing food !!! Went a second time, got the spicy naked lady roll, Minnesota roll, dragon roll, and some calamari so delicious!!! The Dragon roll is a must get :)
Joseph Jurek
One of my favorite sushi restaurants in Minneapolis. Always serving delicious food, from Pad Thai to sushi rolls you won't be disappointed. They have a wide variety of sushi to choose from and portions are large. Good size patio for uptown. Price is reasonable especially to quality of food. Service is on point. They really met all the standards to make a good restaurant in my eyes. $$-$$$
Nicole Nyarko
Fun, trendy, and good food! We sat on the patio for dinner with a 5 year old and had a great time. This was my first time at Wakame. It was crowded inside so I was worried about a long wait. I was told by the hostess 30 minutes but got the text our table was ready in less than two minutes! I'd show up between 5:30-6p if you want to get a table (and parking spot in the area). They don't have much for kids menu so not sure I'd recommend this place for those who have picky little eaters with them but if you like fresh sushi and good drinks it's definitely worth checking out. I'm not a sushi or raw fish eater but they have vegetable rolls, avocado, cucumber, etc. I always order veggie rolls and chicken teriyaki as my main course at sushi restaurants. It's delicious here! They also have a nice variety of Sake listed from sweet to dry. I think I had the No.6. It was amazing. I'd return for dinner, or Happy Hour. Our server was very attentive and warm. I'm looking forward to returning soon!

Came here for my birthday. Good thing we had reservations because the place was packed! Very nice menu which even included curries. We had quail eggs and live scallop which is rarely seen in MN. Even the crab rangoons were amazing and melted in my mouth. The only thing I have to complain about is the lack of crunch in the rolls. It's like they had been sitting there for a few minutes before being served, so that was disappointing.
Stephanie Clausen
Busy, chill atmosphere with some really great sushi! I loved this place! It has a great bar that wraps around the restaurant. I loved the sushi roll that had sriracha!
Megan F
Good sushi and sashimi. Everything was fresh and delicious. The wait staff were prompt and did not make us feel rushed. Overall good local spot in Minnesota.
Eric Massie
The staff was very nice and the restaurant has a good video.
The White Tiger roll is the way to go! The veggie tempura is very good, as well. The rainbow roll was typical of rainbow rolls; nothing special, but not bad.
The squid salad was okay; honestly, the squid tasted frozen/thawed. Yes, yes, I know, "it's the middle of MN, a land locked state", but I've definitely had fresher tasting in MN (I think from Wakame,a different time, actually).
It isn't the #1 sushi in MN, but I'm the top 5. I will be back.
Talicia Jackson
Chicken lettuce wraps and basil chicken wings were delicious! The chicken wraps have a lot of flavor. Fyi... make sure you have time to dine and because there will be a wait.
Stacy Welle
Not only is this one of my favorite restaurants that has a quality of food that is far beyond other local sushi restaurants, the service is impeccable. The service inside the restaurant while I was there was (and had always been) amazing and to top it off the small touches of takeout just proved how incredible they are as a whole. I opened my takeout bag at home and there were two sets of chopsticks, ginger, soy sauce, and wasabi individually and perfectly packaged to continue the incredible experience at home. I have bragged about this restaurant in the past, but this most recent experience increased my level of appreciation. Thank you for making people feel special on their night out. 😊
Aleeza M
One of my go-to local spots! Such a vibrant environment. Please give the servers some leniency when waiting for sushi! The nature of making high-quality sushi when super busy can take 45 min or so - have patience and give servers only respect!
H. C.
Love the food and scenery. Worth the stop if you are in town. Great selection on the menu as well.
Laurie Hill
We arrived there as soon as it opened. All their soups are made fresh daily; my husband had the hot and sour soup and I had tom yum. We agreed that we had never had better. In addition to that we had two sushi rolls. Both were very tasty and refreshing. We go there every time we're on that side of the cities.
Cathy Bauer
Drove by many times and always noticed a long wait. Finally decided to stop by as a walk in and see what the fuss was about. So glad I did. The spring rolls and beef Teriyaki were amazing, but nothing compares to the fresh artistic beauty of their sushi and sashimi. Can't wait to come back again. Worth the wait
sudu
It may look like your average neighborhood restaurant but It is anything but average. The restaurant was bustling with people even on a week night. The service was good and their menu had loads of variety. The food was pretty good too. Overall a good place to hang out with friends.
RJ “Conceptlives” Gregory
The sushi here is too good! The noodles are even better and they even have 5 levels of spicy. It's a bit pricey but definitely worth it if you want to go out for a nice time.
Victoria
Our TO GO place for late dinner! They have a really good sushi deal at happy hour ( after 9:30pm). Try the Minnesota roll and spider roll! They are the best.
Y.A.
This place is usually fantastic but today the food was not up to par and neither was the service. My waitress rushed me from the time I sat down to hurry up and order. She kept coming back every 4 minutes and asking if I was ready. She did inform Oscar was a 45 to 50 minute wait for sushi so if I wanted some I needed to put it in immediately.
The worst part of my visit today was the flies. There was many. When my food arrived they multipled fast. I was so disgusted I asked for to go boxes for all of my food. Today was my worst experience to date at this location. I'm very disappointed.
Julia Near and Far
Overall the sushi I tried at Wakame Sushi & Asian Bistro was good. Located not too far from Lake Calhoun, it's near a popular area for shopping and dining.
Anthony Proulx (Ase Anthony)
Our favorite sushi destination. Usually really packed so go during lunch or just get take out. No matter what you won't be disappointed!
Eileen King
Amazing lunch specials! Lots of delicious roll options, salad dressing I could drink a pitcher of, and friendly service. I've never had a bad time or bad meal at Wakame!
Kate Kasella
Best happy hour during the work week! Try to get there early, though. By 5:30 or so, there’s a wait.
S D
Great place for date day or night! Great for lunch meetings! Love their music! Great service! We love their lunch box deal where you get variety of food all in one. Lots of yummy unique sushi rolls to choose from.
Surabhi Singh
Wakame is our favorite go-to restaurant. Only a 5 minutes drive from our place, the kitchen is open even late nights making it a perfect "too-lazy-to-cook-let's-go-out" eatery! We often end up ordering the Basil stir-fry, the Tom Yum soup, the egg rolls, and sushi rolls, the qhole assortment is to die for!
The happy hour menu is great too! For lunch, our usuals are the bento boxes, highly recommend the Chicken Grapow and the Grilled beef ones. The rolls are very decently priced too!
A lot of parking space, good service, and a great ambience overall! Wakame stays true to Asian cuisine and is a must if you are a Japanese food connoisseur!
Brandon
The bomb! Winning EVERYTIME! This place has turned me into a sushi lover. It has really made for delicious sushi, even for those who aren’t sushi lovers, this place will change your mjnd.
Daniel Kelley
Honestly some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. Although, we did have to wait 45 minutes for our sushi(it was expected since it was a Friday evening).
Dan
I've had the chicken pad Thai and some of the sushi and both of them were delicious. I had a five out of five for spicy on the pad Thai and it wasn't very spicy.
David Wnek
Delicious food abounds at Wakame- so long as you get fish. Both the sashimi and the sushi are made with precision and purpose that enhances the flavor experience. You won't find rolls that are mostly rice, or cuts of sashimi so thin you can see through. Portion sizes are appropriate so you can enjoy the food without feeling corpulent.
The atmosphere is subdued, with atmospheric lighting and darker decor. Can be good for groups or dates, though the layout seems a little awkward.
The items that aren't sushi are still good, but not as spectacular as the sushi, creating an odd contrast if you're not into fish.
Overall, Wakame is a fine choice if you're in the mood for sushi at a nice establishment.
Nathan Majewski
amazing sushi. the best crab cakes and miso soup i've ever had. ask for the exuberantly large straws that come with the volcano drink.
HoldTightAndPretendItsAPlan
I love the sushi here! Comparable to what I had in LA California in freshness but not as crazy in price.
Be sure to come for Happy Hour as they have specials on drinks AND sushi during that time
D H
Having paid over 50 dollars for a meal for 2, I kinda expected the quality to be better than that of an all you can eat (note that this restaurant is not ayce). Nonetheless, we still had a great time, and the service was prompt and excellent, and aside from the food quality, the portions were still plentiful, and I was not left wanting.
John Weirick
Tasty food, helpful happy hour prices for some sushi, and delicious noodle dishes (though their supposed highest spicy rating did not come close to truly spicy—aware of their Midwestern audience I guess). Front of house staff weren’t all attentive or welcoming on a busy Saturday night and the pop radio was far too loud (with commercials, too). I’d recommend more attention to guests and paying for a premium music streaming service without commercials to improve the environment for higher star rating.
Annie Lee
Sushi here is always so fresh, never takes that long for the sushi to come out either. The mussels are a must!
Melissa Prostrollo
It was so great to be able to dine at the sushi bar! Spacing and masking were observed and the place was hopping. The food and service were wonderful, as I had remembered. Sushi rolls and sashimi were excellent. We very much enjoyed our visit and getting to watch the sushi chefs busily preparing order after order the entire time we were there. It was busier than I had anticipated, but we were fortunate enough to get to walk in. I'd recommend calling ahead for a reservation, to be safe.
Anh Thu Le
Hands down the best sushi place in Minnesota. The service is also really good each time that I'm there.
Kevin Jones Sr
Good was delicious, service was phenomenal, everything absolutely on par with what a great restaurant should be. Took my woman out to MSP for a bday trip and was impressed. We will be back next visit up.
Keisha Williams
Sushi was so fresh and delicious tasting. Service was nice and friendly, places has a beautiful atmosphere.
kimberly velez
The experience was excellent The food was delicious fresh. Service was great our server was so helpfully friendly and very knowledgeable. Gave good advice about what to try.
Loi Dinh
Love everything about this place. Food, people and atmosphere, etc. Only place I go for sushi around the Twin Cities area. It can get a bit busy at night on the weekend but worth the wait. I recommend making reservations and not just show up.
Alex Belisle
Loved it here. Super tasty food and affordable prices. Plus the restaurant had a wonderful atmosphere and friendly staff. Did I mention the sushi? And how dog gone tasty it was?? If you're near this restaurant and are look for a sushi place I'd recommend this place hands down
Cow Family
It always tastes amazing and I love it. It’s one of my favorite restaurants!
Elizabeth Cox
Some amazing pad thai here! I love this stuff and we will keep coming here forever!
Jonathan Russell
Wakame has an excellent selection of sushi and seafood. All the people who work there are super nice, polite, and helpful from the hostesses, the waiters and waitresses, to the lady who keeps our water glasses perfectly topped off.
L.D. Ayers
Always love coming here! Both the sushi and hot dishes are great. Now that I know they do take out .. I might be in trouble!
Heather Vanderberg
Always amazing sushi 🍣 Generally always busy but it is worth the wait for sure. Everyone is very nice and once you get seated, they are very prompt. …
Mika Baer
Very nice atmosphere and good service. The beef tataki was a bit spicier than I am used to and was delicious, but expect a little kick! The Poke has a milder sauce compared to other poke I have had, which I enjoyed, but was served as cut up tuna sashimi on half of an avocado. It was rather difficult to eat but the taste was great. My party got the sushi bridge which is pretty comparable to other such sushi combo dinners. The sashimi was good, had a nice flavor, but was a bit small in size. Some of the sashimi was not cut all the way apart and we had several pieces of fish that were still attached to each other (likely due to how busy the restaurant was and how fast the chefs had to prepare it.) The specialty rolls are also smaller in comparison to other sushi restaurants. Seaweed salad, green salad, and miso soup were all great!
In short;
Smaller than average portions, good variety, great sake selection, average price, better than average atmosphere.
Try the quail egg shot!
Went there a second time and my friend was charged twice for his meal.
Amit Mohanty
Very good, always busy Asian bistro opposite Calhoun Village in the Whole Foods complex. Fish dishes are good. Chinese owned but serves good Japanese food and other pan Asian food. Popular on weekend evenings so call ahead for reservations. Check out photo for how busy this place is on a Wednesday evening.
angel wright
Food is always good the only down fall is that they have the doors open in the summer time and flys are flying everywhere inside, you gotta watch your food when your eating and I’m sure they are probably landing on the sushi since everything is open…
Julia
I’ve been here twice, once for lunch and once for late night happy hour. During lunch it was very empty and quiet. Food was decent and lunch special was an ok deal. When I went for happy hour at 10 pm this place was packed, loud music, dim lighting. It’s a very fun atmosphere and the happy hour deals were great!

Coming from the DC area and having lived in NYC and been to Japan, the sushi here is not at all as described in the reviews. It’s average at best - seaweed is chewy, portions of rice are big, fish is somewhat fresh but not what I was expecting from the reviews. For those who say this is the best sushi, please go visit a different sushi restaurant in the area or visit NYC or the DC area for authentic sushi.
Nijhum D
My all time favorite place for sushi and honestly overall.
Nader Banilohi
Best sushi in the Twin Cities hands down! Expect to pay a lot but the quality is well worth it. Great place to bring a date if you're looking to impress
Caleb Hays
Favorite sushi place in the cities! Their other food is also fantastic. Friendly staff, great atmosphere. Be sure to say hi to George when you visit!
Brent Stapleton
Food quality was good- I liked the salmon and tuna. However, we waited a long time for our food and the whitefish was not good
Brittany Misuraca
My husband took me to Wakame for the first time this past weekend and it was excellent! We had a California roll, Tootsie Roll, and the BMW roll. They were all fantastic but I think that the BMW roll was my favorite. We will definitely be back!
Zoey Zou
Large portion! Great presentation!
Joe Peters
We've been going here since it opened. Always great food and service! Thanks George!
Irina Tk
Wakame is one of our places where we are ordering food to go once a week. It is really tasty and always fresh food. Awesome service. if you want to get food on time, it is better to order it in advance because this place is always busy. The same with indoor dining, it is better to reserve a table in advance.
Claudia Deja
Went here for lunch mid-week. They have a nice selection of items for their lunch menu. I went with their #15. Very filling, beautiful presentation, and so so fresh! Only reason for the three stars was the waiter was wonderful, but overworked. Was a bit hard to get his attention. But the food and drinks made up for it!
Ju Lindberg
One of the best sushi places in MN. Never disappoints. Large extensive menu. Happy hour is awesome!
Casie
Amazing as always. Every time! I've been going here for like 10 years I think. I always bring new people here. It's hands down the best sushi spot w the best happy hour in the cities. The sushi is always so fresh and amazing, it melts in your mouth. The staff is always nice. The vibe and ambiance is flirty and chill. The owner, George, is super nice and usually makes rounds passed all the tables to check on everyone and say hello. It's always packed, but don't let that deter you. They are swamped for a reason, and worth the wait. Great date night place. This is probably my favorite restaurant. I can't say enough good things about them. You will enjoy yourself here.
Beth Gasser
Hot and sour soup was good. Definitely a fusion of Chinese, Vietnamese and fish sauce. Really good wontons. Very busy, lots of noise. A bit crowded. Make reservations.
A Perry
Mango Tuna Roll, California Roll, Hot & Spicy Girl roll, & extra ponzu sauce. I call these “favorite” and Wakame is “favorite”too. So glad I found it.
Tomi Fibi
Sashimi is good, patio is great, drinks need coaching, service is pretty good. Great neighborhood restaurant, but not a destination. They have a great happy hour if you love mayonnaise.
vasiliy pakhnyuk
Great food, great atmosphere. Not for best for big groups especially during happy hour. Reservations a must or you will be in line for quite a while.
Martha Fillion
Always delicious. Our server was so much fun!
Elizabeth Bennetts
This is the first sushi place I have been to since moving to Minneapolis. It was quite a disappointment. Reviews said it was a very popular Twin Cities staple. I think it’s over rated. I went on a holiday weekend, which was a mistake. It was a long wait for everything and just average sushi. We also ordered the red curry muscles which had a fantastic broth but the muscles were hard to open and remove from the shell without shredding them. We had to send the dish back. Our waitress was apologetic and took it off our bill so that was nice. However, this is probably not a place I would go back to.
Nhu Tran
The food was okay to compare to other sushi places and it took over 30 minutes from appetizers to main courses. They waited 30 minutes to tell us the sea urchin was out.
Marisela Taylor
Their food os SO GOOD! the sushi is great. Try the beef teriyaki with jasmine rice and veggies. you will not be disappointed.
Tami
I love this place! I come here alone, with my husband, and with friends. I have never ever been disappointed and would highly recommend. They are least busy right away in the mornings. I come all hours and it is always worth the wait!!
Kris K.
Slow, innattentive service. Excellent food. Easy 5 stars if better service.
Katie H
Awesome sushi and appetizers!! All of the sushi is amazing, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Very busy place so plan on waiting, we even had a short wait on a Tuesday night. They have patio and indoor seating, but I feel they could use even more space! We will definitely be back, excellent food!
Courtney B
Started with the shashito peppers and got the Wakame roll & philly roll. The philly roll had big portions of smoked salmon, very filling by itself!
Bashar Alkabbani
Delicious sushi, nice seating, good service, price is what you would expect for sushi, we had a very good time there.
Nathaniel Campion
One of the only good options left, very thankful to still have decent sushi in uptown.
ChicoChadd
To bad I was in a rush or I would have eaten more. Next time I plan to stay for awhile. The Saki was served ina traditional way with the in a box with the cup running over. The food and hospitality get a five star in my book.
C C
Excellent food (as usual) and super service.
Thx Mai-Lin!!!
Highly recommended!!
Amber Gianera
Simply the best sushi in MN. That's all! 😊 …
Veronika Skor
Our favorite happy hour sushi - you just can't beat it for the quality and price but that comes at the cost of it virtually always being busy so you often have a wait. Lots of outdoor seating when the weather is warm. Very accommodating to young kids - will give trainer chopsticks and slice sushi rolls thinner. All of the wait staff have been great.
Love: chicken skewer appetizer, all of the salmon and tuna sushi, cold sake flights
Richard Moody
Great fresh sushi..I will come again & again..Our wait staff Katlyn, was awesome..I will request her again.
Shawn Keaton
The sushi here is absolutely everything. The server's desire a little bit help though I'm not going to lie. They have a guy server that is really good but it seems like the female servers are little spacey.
Richard Webb
Always a 5! The food always exceeds expectations..I have eaten here 30+ times & it always delivers. Wonderful service as well. The bar can get busy - however worth the wait..
JJ Oesterle
Don't expect to be seated on time, but the waiting staff are great and honest! They make sure you are happy and are cool! The scallop nigiri and spicy vegetable miso soup is great! Been going here since it opened and still one of my favs!
Tron Lorne
I wasn’t normally a sushi kind of guy until a couple recent times at this immaculate place. The decor inside is very elegant and they have a great visual presentation overall. There is a fantastic happy hour menu that’s very ideally priced. The actual sushi is phenomenal and full of flavor and as I said I’ve usually not been a huge fan. This place does it right and in a special manner. The waiters are prompt and helpful as well. Very unique place.
Katie Knauer
Never disappoints! I usually go with what I know (BMW or dragon roll-both amazing) but today I tried the Russian roll and was pleasantly surprised! And take out none the less! Fresh fish, great flavor. Was told my order would be ready in 45 mins but it was ready for pick up in less than 30!
Robert Bischel
I wanted to celebrate my 36th birthday, with some amazing sushi, and that's exactly what I got. This was my first time here, and I was impressed by the service and the quality. William was so helpful and attenative, he recommended some great options. I had the rock n roll and the uptown roll and they were both phenomenal! I highly recommend place and I'll be back!!
Andrew Arthur
I have ordered take-out from Wakame a few times. The food is great. But the service is terrible. The front staff are unhelpful and borderline rude. Basically the restaurant is just too busy. There is no place to park and the service is always way behind. They give you a time estimate for the order but run way behind. Maybe it’s time to find a new sushi restaurant.
Thomas Brown
Worth the wait on a Friday night
Jenna Kuiken
Best place for sushi in the Twin Cities. The happy hour prices and quality are unbeatable. I have never had one bad experience here and the serving staff is very accommodating with gluten free requests. Another thing I love is their happy hour sushi menu includes an expansive list of sushi, half price, but you still receive the full size roll! I've never had this experience anywhere else. It's usually only 5 rolls on the happy hour menu or the roll is half it's regular size elsewhere. Go here, you won't be sorry!
Laura Omaha
Always great food, especially sushi! The Bentley and Cowboy roll are my faves! The staff is very friendly, quick and efficient! The owner is involved on the floor with his staff and is very accommodating to last minute big parties! Probably wouldn’t recommend showing up last minute with a big party, but he will take care of you! 🙂 …
Heidi Lundgren
I was so hungry when we got here and now I am not. Mission accomplished. And it was great too! In all seriousness, the food is delicious, excellent drinks, and amazing service. The energy and atmosphere could not be better. 💯 …
Emily Braverman
It was alright. I went at 3pm on a Friday and it wasn’t busy at all.
Waited about 15 minutes after being sat down and then just got up and found my server myself to tell him I’m ready to order. He was nice and all but just to focused too much on being in the back or talking to the 2 guys at the bar.
My Sushie roll was $16 and it was average. I got the Wakame roll and nothing special really. Not worth the money. Miso soup wasn’t great either.
When I was done I had to go look for a box (to pack my sushi) because the server looked like he was never coming to check on me again.
I think next time Ill just go to whole foods and grab a roll.
Walked around for a couple minutes looking for someone to give me a box lol
Anyways, the whole trip was 40 minutes long which is crazy for some sushi and miso soup (which were out within 5 minutes of me ordering). Just slow staff I guess
Andrea
Our waitress was attentive, but not intrusive! The shrimp tempura appetizer was light and crunchy. Followed by a nice variety of sushi rolls, spicy to mild. All had wonderful flavor and each unique. We were happy they could create gluten-free rolls for us. The only disappointment was the length of time it took to get our sushi.
renee kessel
Great food. great service. I love the staff but Ericka is my favorite waitress and Angela is my favorite hostess/to-go.
Matessa Dorman
Service is always great here! Ericka was our server. Super bubbly and cheerful. Drinks and apps came out super fast. Great vibes per usual! Will be back next time I’m in town. 5 star would recommend!
Eric Vigil
I had an amazing experience at Wakame yesterday! The sushi here was outstanding and Parker was a great server for us at lunchtime. I would recommend this place for sushi around the Minneapolis area anytime!
Lala Lew
Loved the sushi, and the outdoor patio. Great price for what we got!!
Neelam Patil
Good fusion food - sushi, and thai. I usually get the various rolls and japanese fare which I love. Today I got the Apple Teriyaki Sea Bass with Asian vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes. It was incredibly tasty and huge portion. They were busy as always, with a 30-45 minute wait for outside seating (Even at 4:30'ish). We couldn't wait that long, so we opted gor indoor. Indoor seating was setup for social distancing. We were happy about it
Aliona Z
The sushi were very good , but the customer service ruined our day. Made a reservation but had to wait another 20 minutes bc the table wasn’t ready, however they would take other people that were coming without reservations and sit them down right away while we were just standing there waiting.
Emily Wangen
I use to really love this place for both the food and the happy hour, but my first time back post covid was disappointing. The sushi was pretty good but the pad thai and fried rice were really lacking in ingredients and flavor. They also haven't reinstated happy hour yet. Hopefully it will get back to normal soon but I don't think I'll be returning.
Trina Sandlie
This is our favorite sushi place in the cities. The food, service and quality of experience is high and it is consistent. Highly recommend.
Lea Johnson
The food is phenomenal! Reservations are not always seated on time. They have been extremely busy during COVID times so allow yourself a couple of hours for dinner. They are moving as fast as they can but have a lot of orders to fill. Great service refilling drinks and bringing out non-sushi appetizers promptly. Outdoor dining is appropriately spaced and host stand has been moved outside.
Jennifer Penner
Sweet heart roll and the roll with with the king crag.....is the bees knees...quoting the super adorable bartender...tito's/sake/cucumber martini...all was too perfect. Can not wait to go back and eat twice as much.
Pafoua And After
Enjoyed the atmosphere. Nice and dim lit. The sushi was quality and I wouldn’t mind going back to explore the menu another time. (:
Hannah Allen
Absolutely phenomenal cocktails, great service and amazing food. We had a great experience here!
Benjamin Sass
Great happy hour pricing. Awesome sushi!
mark thomas
For the price, portions are really big. The food is amazing. staff is great & very respectful, first time here & it's now my favorite spot. Highly recommend
Nina Nibbe
From drinks to appetizers to dinner this place nailed it! Portion sizes were larger than expected. Service was great despite it being busy. Fun to sit by the sushi chefs and watch as they made our order and then thank them in person without pulling them away from their station. Non sushi orders from others around us looked and smelled delicious, too. I think I found my new favorite sushi spot. Yum!
Marie Schlumpberger
Amazing food, drinks, atmosphere, and staff is super friendly with quick service !
Michelle Williams
The sushi at Wakame was good, but nothing to write home about. The service was slow, but our waiter was very friendly and apologetic and offered us free sake and free dessert. I was satisfied, but most likely would not come back again and would seek out a different sushi place.
Jennifer Fairchild
Wake me is a very popular spot for neighborhood locals on a summer Saturday evening. Lots of people were outside lounging and chatting with drinks and friends. It looked comfortable and relaxed.
I had dinner at the bar since the sushi bar was full. The bartenders and all the staff, really, were friendly. Even though they were busy, no one looked stressed or irritated. The owner, George, was at the host stand - nice guy.
My sushi was great. I kept it to a basic roll and some nigiri for my first visit. I wasn't disappointed. They quality was great, the prices are excellent. I live in the 'burbs, but I'll happily be a regular here.
Alyssa Miller
I love this place so I won’t give a low star review because the owner George is amazing and the food is always incredible. I will warn you though... Several people stand outside waiting without their masks on and do not social distance. I called 4/23/21 to see if we could make reservations or do call ahead seating and the person on the other end of the phone said no only walk-ins. So we went and when we arrived, we waited forever in line to talk to the girl who has far too much responsibility and clearly couldn’t handle doing it all. Get her more help! When we finally reached the podium, some other guy comes passed us with a tablet saying “reservations, reservations” so we we’re befuddled knowing we called to make reservations and weren’t allowed to. We tell the girl two people and she says, I have to talk to the guy asking for reservations. Like what? We weren’t allowed to make reservations and the guy is asking for reservations? So now after waiting in line forever to be turned away, all these other people got ahead of us who were standing in line behind us. Maybe be more specific and have this man say, “do you need to put your name on the wait list” or if that’s too much, “wait list? Wait list?” We left and went to Stella’s and got in immediately and had the best service. Super disappointed and also for a company who thrived during the pandemic, 3+ hour wait on a Tuesday for takeout, you should be bringing back happy hour. Tons of other small businesses in the area still honor their happy hour and didn’t have nearly as much success. Please do better! Thanks.
Brandon Onopa
Wakame never disappoints! Their happy hour sushi prices make an afternoon (if you can make it) a special treat for tremendous sushi in a comfortable setting. I've visited multiple times and have never had a bad experience as the staff is always eager to make recommendations and at the top of their game in attentiveness towards the customer.
Ayman Elmubark
Long wait if you don’t have a reservation. Sashimi and Nagiri are pretty good. Some of it was a bit too cold, but overall it tasted pretty fresh. Didn’t try the rolls. Ambiance is quite nice but it can get loud. Music choice is questionable.
I M
We had dinner here last night and it was impeccable! From entering the establishment, every encounter with staff, our amazing server and delicious, fresh sushi that melts in your mouth and explodes with flavor! Well done! You superceded my expectations! Covid has changed the dining experience and this restaurant is as always perfection! Thank you to all of the hard working staff! We appreciate you and the amazing food you provided!
Richard “Rick” Wagner
Really great food, table service is occasionally lacking in both accuracy and prompt, bar service is very consistent, had a takeout order that got the fresh rolls but left off the peanut sauce. Eat here whenever in St Louis Park at least once. The above comments are based on two visits this week, but are representative over the years, again it's awesome sushi and Happy Hour starts at 3, yippee!
Eric Mintalar
Wakame has been a favorite restaurant of ours for many years. George, the owner greets his customers on most nights in the front of the restaurant and always has a smile, a kind word, a handshake and checks to see how everything is going. The sushi is excellent with the variety of specialty rolls and the traditional favorites to choose, the sake selection is fantastic as well as the Japanese whiskey's. The restaurant is always busy with their happy hour and the local crowd frequently enjoying their sushi rolls and drinks. Go check it out and enjoy!
David Mattson
Make sure to come for the happy hour. The sushi is always done well and the place gets real busy making it an electric atmosphere. The staff does a nice job and you’ll always find the manager (owner?) working hard to make he customers experience a good one. Top spot for late night happy hour.
Philip K
Don’t have a single complaint about this place, except that it’s always busy when I go. They have a good HH menu, which is at lunch time and then I think before 6:30pm, and then a late night starting after 9:30pm. The sushi is top notch, if you like spicy tuna get the hot and spicy girl roll (also try the spicy tuna) both really good. Their spring rolls are also amazing. The owner is there a lot and really nice. The wait staff is usually good about getting apps out quick. There may be the outlier waitress that’s not that good, but the food more than makes up for it. Definitely go for sushi you won’t be disappointed by the food or the price.
Mariana Alvarado
Love everything about this place, the service, the food, the martinis, and the sushi is the best in town! Love their happy hour- so many things to choose from.
Kaitlyn Benson
I absolutely love their happy hour! I have been there multiple times and have always gotten great service. They have clean bathrooms, great music, and reasonable prices. Wakame have plenty of free parking. They also have a patio for when Minnesota decides to allow people to enjoy fresh air. The majority of clientele are in their 20s-30s. The shrimp tempura and hot sake is my favorite combo! Definitely check it out!
Bosephus P
Impressive! I don't like sushi but my group does. They shared, and it was pretty good. The place was packed. I had the server order for me, and had salmon I didn't deserve - it was that good. I am usually pretty tight with superlatives, but this place was good. Be prepared to open your wallet.
Bethany Lindvall
We met friends here for happy hour after work. It was very busy when we got there, but they took our name and phone number while estimating a 20 minute wait. It was a very close approximation. Once we were seated we were able to place our drink orders while deciding what to order. The ordering system for happy hour is very easy as they give you the list of items and you write what you want and the quantity. We ordered a spicy tuna roll, spicy salmon roll, salmon and avocado, avocado roll, and one of the eel rolls. They were all spectacular, but our favorites were the spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls. We enjoyed our experience.
Steven Livingstone
Very good quality sushi, the second best in the Twin Cities (Midori's is still the best). Decent portion sizes and a good range of menu options. Restaurant interior was clean and pleasant. Server was not great the first 20 minutes, making several mistakes and displayed a lack of enthusiasm, but he got better during the second half of the meal. Definitely worth a second visit.
Beatrice Kealy
Their Happy Hour is 5 stars, regular pricing is 4 stars. Everything is very good and it's always busy, but it is a little overpriced (in my opinion) when you're paying full price. Sushi is delicious and their specialty drinks are tasty.
Jason Spiller
Wakame has been my favorite sushi restaurant for years now. I have tried quite a few other restaurants, and none are better. The happy hour is the best deal around. George always greets us with a smile and asks about our kids. I have never had an issue with their service or food.
Hina B
I chose this place based off of the positive reviews. We came during happy hour and ordered sushi. The service wasn’t that great. The table we were seated at was dirty. Sushi took some time to arrive and it was okay. I wish it was a positive experience like most people have wrote but was not for us. Will not be returning.
Steve Momcilovic
We go here quite often. Either me and the lady or a group of more. We always order quite a bit of sushi. It's a good staple to stand by, and they have very reasonable prices for happy hour. I most recommend the mango tuna roll and the warrior sake flight.
Emily Gruen
Best sushi I have had and excellent service! I got the crazy monkey roll and asked them if they could not fry it. It was so good and very fresh! The crab rangoons were also super tasty. Looks like they have some good dinner options for those who don’t want sushi. Definitely recommend coming here for a great experience!
Natalie J
Amazing food. Great happy hour! Our food came out very quickly. The service was pretty odd. Our server kept taking our plates away that still has food on it. She kept taking our chopsticks and not realizing so we’d have to wait and grab her so we could eat. She’d drop things and leave them. It was odd. But I would go back for the food! Highly recommend happy hour.
Ashley Olson
Always such good sushi, huge variety, for a great price. And I care about quality. It's legit. Nice patio, nice ambiance. They're open during covid at reduced capacity and are careful to follow protocol.
Uzma Ali
Sushi was pretty great specially the Sendai and the Spice Girl roll. Their jasmine hot tea is also pretty epic. So are their shrimp dumplings. Happy hour is great and is jam-packed with a line of people waiting outside so I would recommend reserving a table ahead.
Jamie Strong
The sushi was top notch and the mango margaritas were🔥
Emily
This is by far my favorite sushi place. I will wait an hour to get in because it is THAT good. I like all of their rolls, you really can't go wrong with any of them. Their cocktails and wine list is decent too. I recommend going for happy hour (after 9:30pm), everything is at a good price.
Cally Reed
The happy hour is unmatched. Sake is good!
Isaacson Paye
We love this restaurant! Wakame has great food for all palates and ages. The service is very helpful and overall I would give it 5 stars (10 if I could). Great for families and big groups too! Sometimes service is a bit slow because it’s very crowded but only because it’s very well-known and loved! :)
Roshan Rajkumar
Making a reservation on a Friday night does not always mean you get seated when you booked. And worse, three of the four high-school/college-age host people at front of house dont seem to work well when there is a 6-people deep crowd in the much too smaller front area. Thank God George, the owner, returned to front to try and return order. And to save the start of our night, the bartender was cool, calm and friendly. He mixed drinks efficiently and correctly with a smile. Highly recommend the ginger pear martini. And what we waited for, the sushi rolls, were worth the 25 minute delay to start and 30 minute wait for food. The white tiger snd naked girl rolls were perfect, and the crunchy tuna and Cowgirl rolls here hits too. Again, maybe Friday night isn't the time to visit this place, but the sushi is always on point. Only though would be doing some decor and furniture updating or repair to make the place shine a little.
Andrea Kyle
Me and 3 friends went at 4pm on a Thursday to be there early for the happy hour. We left at 6:30 and it was packed with 10+ people waiting in the lobby. They give you a sheet and pencil to fill out with the rolls you want and then bring it all on one plate. $4 house wine and $3 bottles. I got the avocado and potstickers, but tired my friends crazy monkey roll and it was super good! Not all the happy hour rolls are on the menu, but overall good food and nice service!
Julia Richard
Favorite sushi restaurant! Great staff, the place is always busy but you can still get in in a reasonable amount of time - just be ready to wait a little longer with the reduced seating capacity due to Covid. Still worth coming to even happy hour isn't going on right now.
SMonster
Panang curry and calamari are really good. Pad Thai was really weird tasting, wouldn’t order again. My wife says she’d go elsewhere for sushi because they are expensive compared to other places.
Karin H.
Best time to go is during happy hour. They have really good happy hour deals on their signature rolls! It's hard to order less than 9 rolls. Can be really busy and we usually have to wait 25+ minutes for 9:30PM happy hour, especially fri-sun and during colder months there is nowhere to wait inside. But during the summer, enjoying a drink outside on the patio while you wait is a nice way to pass the time.
Ryan Bruns
Good sushi has happy hour deals
Golf Foxtrot Yankee Hooligan
I ate a good teriyaki chicken meal and my wife had 2 sushi rolls. I would've given 5 stars but 1 roll was cooked and the fish was super fishy smell and tasting. My wife loves sushi cooked & raw and she couldn't eat the fishy tasting one and it was cooked.
Lambert Lum
Favorite local place for Sushi and their other entrees are very good too. Fairly priced and even better during happy hours, great service, and clean. My only complaint is the parking can be challenging, but never have I been disappointed in all my visits to Wakame.
Josh M
Excellent sushi! My girlfriend and I went there during happy hour, so drinks were reasonable and the sushi prices were great! We didn’t even have to wait to be seated. Our server Jordan was amazing as well!
Julia A
Wakame is one of our favorite places to get sushi. The service is great and friendly. They have a bar where you can watch the sushi being made right in front of you while you get a drink and wait. On weekends they would have a wait times but it’s never long. Highly recommend going to this place and checking it out. You won’t regret getting their edamame it’s the best!
Andy Kozicki
My go-to local sushi restaurant. Fantastic sushi at reasonable prices - especially during happy hour.
Melissa Cole
Absoultely delicious sushi and a great experience. Definitely more pricey than other sushi restaurants, but you get what you pay for. Only critique is that we made reservations for 8 PM, and didnt get seated for an extra 10 minutes. Definitely recommend you make reservations or you will have a long wait!
A M
My boyfriend and I eat here once a week. That's how good this place is. The pricing is great and so is the food. We get the spicy basil chicken wings, spicy grilled beef, side of white rice and the beef fried rice along with the crunch sushi rolls for about $40! I love their food!
Michael Fay
This is the ONLY place to get sushi in the twin cities. The restaurant is always packed, so you know everything is fresh and delicious. The service is great too. Be prepared to wait a few minutes to get a seat, but the wait is totally worth it! Try the Excelsior roll... unreal.
Isaac Mashman
I actually went to Wakame for a business event, and absolutely loved it! The vibe of the restaurant was definitely amazing. I didn’t pay for my meal however, so I can’t discuss prices, but from what I saw on the menu, everything looked reasonable for an upscale sushi bistro. Also, I can’t forget how delicious everything was!
J90 Blue
For my first time there i asked for a booth and the girl said “no because of are rules of covid” and i said alright and proceeded to sit me next to a group of women..then a couple minutes later 2 separate families came in and got sat back to back at the booths and i still hadn’t gotten to order.. i continue to sit there and both families get there food first and 5 minutes later a lady comes by asks me if I’m ready i gave her my order took over 30 to 40 minutes . Then i get my food and she never comes back. But the food was great!
Jeff Robertson
This is the place to go for Happy Hour Sushi in Uptown! Happy hour runs until 6pm Monday-Friday and they have specials on sushi, drinks, and other appetizers. I also enjoy sitting out on their patio and people watching along lake Calhoun. You can get in and out of this place during happy hour for under $20. If you miss the happy hour deals, the prices do go up quite a bit, so I would recommend getting there before 6pm!
Nicky Coelho
My husband and I have been eating here for seven years and it's still our favorite sushi restaurant in the Twin Cities! The fish is always fresh, the specialty rolls are very well crafted, and they have an awesome happy hour. Their staff is wonderful and they always give excellent service!
Blaine Critic
By far the best sushi spot I have ever been to. The menu and quality food will speak to the priciness. The reason why this is getting 3 stars is because when I went to the bathroom I saw kitchen staff walk straight out of the restroom stall without washing his hands. This is disturbing.
Katie Evert
This is my favorite restaurant. I have traveled to Las Vegas and parts of Cali only to find this place offers better sushi! Have you tried their Happy Hour? You'll be hooked! This place has a wonderful ambience and DELICIOUS food. If you're going on a weekend, make reservations. The locals know this is the place to be.
Leika Schmidt
No reservations. First come first serve. I've noticed that even though it's packed every single day of the week, and I order the very same thing every time I come here, the quality of my sushi varies only to a minimal degree. I get the rock and roll, and the guys preparing the sushi are rockstars. If I want the best sushi I come here. The flavor is always intense and bursting! Spring rolls and cream cheese puffs are great and mango margaritas are scream!!
Madeline Summers
Our favorite thing is the lunch bento boxes. They have a nice sunny patio and great service.
Kaylen Lowe
Have been here multiple times and they are super accommodating for both small and big groups of people! The food is what you would expect for a sushi place in Minneapolis and the servers were cordial and friendly. I love coming here and I love the happy hour menu as well!
Bret O
Our favorite Sushi place in town, consistently fresh and they creative rolls options and always have specials that are unique. The happy hour until 6 pm offers great options for a lower price. The staff is very attentive and helpful in helping you try new items
Deer in Headlights
My favorite vegan sushi in minneapolis. I love their shiitake rolls. So simple and so yum. Wish they had low sodium soy sauce.
Ka Xiong
I've only been here during happy hour, and I must say, they have the best happy hour in the Twin Cities. I love the price and quality of the food. It's busy every time I go, but my food always come out fresh in a timely manner. The service is also very good. I have nothing to complain about.
Adrienne Sharma
Love this place. The service is never that great, honestly. But the food is very good. I recently tried their curry dishes and was happily surprised! Some of the best curry in town for sure. Their sushi is always fresh. If you have never tried their octopus salad it’s a win!
Jake Dhillon
The only place we go for Sushi on a regular basis, and everyone we know too goes all the time. Gotta say, love the owner, he is very attentive and loves his customers. The sushi is always great, the drinks fab, and the atmosphere always upbeat. Go for Early and late happy hours!
moaaz
High quality sashimi and good service. The place has a nice atmosphere and the prices are very reasonable for the quality. I recommend the love bridge to share for 2 I recommend avoiding this if you're single because it will remind you of how lonely you are.
Rachel
Love this place! Always a go to with my friends for a place to get amazing appetizers and delicious sushi! Staff is always kind and quick! Great date night spot too or a fun place to chill on the patio when the weather gets nice (dog friendly)!
Chanda Baader
I came in for lunch and it was great! The restaraunt was very busy with only 2 servers and a host and they did fantastic. Parker and Tanner held down the entire restaraunt and the bar and were so polite. The wait was not long. Will be back!
Bryan Curry
Being from California I'm picky about my sushi. This is the first sushi place I've been to in the Minneapolis area (Uptown specifically) that has been all around good. The sushi is super good as well as the fried rice and the crispy rice! And the happy hour prices are awesome! Will definitely be back.
Max Cervantes
Wakame has a variety of great food items on their menu. High quality food and a good price are what keep us coming back. Their sushi is a must a few times a month for us.
Lorne Spence
Sushi roll, pot stickers, edamame, and spicy vegetables miso soup was great. We got four rolls the cowboy roll, crazy tuna roll, hot and spicy and the mango. Couldn’t pick a favorite they were all phenomenon. The rolls seemed to be warmer then my liking I like cold fish.
This was our first time there we get there at 6:15 and put our name on the waiting list. Am told it’s a 24-30 minute wait, we were sat at 7:34 an hour and twenty minutes wait. Very disappointing!
Autumn R
Great food! I love their spicy tuna hand rolls. It was really busy, but it's just because the food is so good. They also offer carry out! I definitely recommend.
Jason Karnitz
Hands down the best sushi restaurant in the Twin Cities. We drive 45 minutes each way for this delectable treat and it is well worth it. Check out their happy hour deals on sushi rolls, very affordable, great atmosphere and the employees are truly pleasant.
FATIMA MKOMO
The food was great but it took a while to arrive. One of the waiters said she was going to refill my cup and never came back. I was waiting for my drink over 30 minutes. Over all, food was great but customer service could use a little improvement.
Jazz Nu:New
Beautiful place. Attentive staff. Wonderful food.
Mark Funke
Happy hour runs until 6PM and weekdays and allows 2 people to eat for less than $30 TOTAL, which is crazy good value for some really, really quality rolls. Spicy Tuna + a Specialty Roll and an appetizer or two (spring rolls and gyoza) is my go-to. Toss in $3 taps and I’m happy. If you get there after 5 you need to lucky to get a bar spot, but I’ve only had to leave once about of about 8-10 times because I couldn’t get in for happy hour within 15-20 minutes wait.
Tyrone Smith
Good vibes definitely has a feel good atmosphere with great service the place looks fabulous and the food is even better than you could Imagine if you love sushi and haven't been here where have you been eating at I had temptation rolls and I am tempted to go back definitely have to go there I recommend it
James Mullaly
Wakame has always been one of my favorite sushi spots! Fish is always fresh and the rolls are amazing! It’s constantly packed for a good reason.
David Nelson
Get the Rock and Rock sushi roll!! I enjoy pretty much every sushi roll they offer but the Rock and Roll is one of the best. If go during their happy hour....make sure you get there early otherwise you may be waiting especially for larger groups.
Robin Thomas
Since Wakame is right alongside some chain-y restaurants, I didn't have super high expectations for it. Wow! Now it's the go-to sushi place for my wife and me. We've brought our year-old twin boys, and the staff were very accommodating. We recommend the signature rolls especially, like the "Hot & Spicy Girl Roll". Then go around the corner and get frozen yogurt for dinner!
Brenna Zavodnik
Very impressed with the food!
Jenny Partin
We've been going here since the soft open and every meal has been amazing. Their happy hour is generous both in length and price and their lunch menu offers a few things not available on their regular dinner menu. The staff is always courteous, prompt, and knowledgeable.
Roop Bassi
Their house sake was very delicious. Also, the Bentley Roll was spectacular. I recommend a side of eel sauce... We also finished off the meal with tempura ice cream, and it came in cute bite sized pieces. Slowly becoming my favorite sushi spot. Miso soup wasn't anything too special. Gyoza was decent, should have pan fried it a little more.
James M
I'm not a sushi guy, but when my friends brought me here I fell in love. The environment I nice, not too noisy or cramped for the amount of people usually there. The food is awesome and the staff very attentive. Definitely recommend
Hassan M
Conveniently located near the lake. They don’t take reservations and they’re often busy so expect a little bit of a wait time. The service is excellent and always accommodating. The sushi is delicious and reasonably priced. All-in-all a great experience and would definitely recommend.
Todd Kellermann
It has the best happy hour sushi! Tasted good, nice hip atmosphere and friendly staff. I loved it! Will definitely be visiting again! I highly recommend!
Emmy Gale
Holy good god the Hamachi cuts were hands down, the thickest, most tender, melt-in-your-mouth cuts of fish I have ever had in my life! The rest of the rolls were additionally mouth watering and done perfectly. This place may have had the best sushi I’ve ever had in my life! Cannot wait to come back!
Julia Walfoort
One of my favorite sushi spots in the Twin Cities! I'd definitely recommend going over HH to get some discounted prices, but you won't be disappointed. Quality food and quality service!
Ed Skerke
Everytime I drive across Wisconsin to Minneapolis I will make every effort to have a meal at Wakame. Best sushi I have ever had, great service. I highly recommend the tempura calamari. You should make a reservation.if you can, you will not regret it, Enjoy!
Chris Westendorp
Top notch sushi, sashimi, and rolls. Wakame has been filled with friendly patrons and staff every time we've been, and always with a vibrant atmosphere! A great option for first timers as well as sushi lovers.
Glen Rank
I had tried this restaurant a few years ago and don't remember being impressed. I don't remember why I was nonplussed, but I have missed a lot of good meals by not having this popular (and reasonably priced) Sushi eatery in my rotation.
Although there were a few too many TV's, a bit of cacophony and a harried server, the food was well worth putting up with these nuisances.
The Tempura was light and tasty, the Sashimi fresh, firm and flavorful, the Miso hot and aromatic. The presentation was pleasant and the portions generous.
I will be back!
Sherry C
I put my name on the "call ahead" wait list while I was still at home. The wait list said 20-30 minutes wait. We live close and got there in about 15 minutes. When we arrived they said the wait was going to be 20-30 minutes more. Why offer the call ahead wait list if your name just goes to the bottom of the list when you show up at the restaurant?
When we finally got seated, our waitress let us know that if we wanted sushi, there would be a 30 minutes wait for sushi since they had lots of take-out orders to fill.
I will not be visiting this restaurant again on a Saturday night!
Ken Andrews
Food is excellent there, especially the sushi! Happy meal menu is especially fantastic too. Customer service lacks a bit though, but would dine here again for the food.
Ryan Swanson
One of the best sushi restaurants around. Fresh spring rolls are the best I’ve had, sushi is always excellent, service is good, atmosphere is crisp and enjoyable, love this place.
jordan taylor
Amazing food. My favorite thing about this place is that they can bring on the heat. If you love spicy order your curry plate at there top level (level 5) and you will not be disappointed!
Abby E
always tasty and super convenient location. Sushi is great and good sized rolls.
Jessica Connors
OMG delicious is an understatement....pre-covid the only downfall is wait time but food quality always on point. Extremely flavorful, good quality fish and seafood, amazing combinations....a must go sushi place, worth the drive and wait.
Melisa Samuelson-Strand
Good idea to have reservations on a weekend during the summer. The patio is highly enjoyable.
Service was good, food was a bit slow but the server was very honest about the time expectation so it was totally tolerable.
Sushi was amazing.
Becks O'Neil
My favorite sushi place, without exception. I no longer live in Minnesota but make sure to eat at Wakame everytime I visit. Always fresh, tons of variety and a great drink menu.
Cyndi Anderson-Hinds
Awesome happy hour (get there early!) friendly service, patio seating great for people watching. Been going here for years. Sushi is great as are the limited number of Japanese dishes I have tried.
Todd Leafman
This is our go to sushi place. The food is always consistent and the happy hour specials are pretty good. You might have to wait for a table and sometimes the sushi counter gets backed up but its worth the wait.
L S
Been here a few times for sushi and appetizers. The crab wontons are super good and so are the dumpings. Sat at the sushi bar which was pretty cool to be able to watch them make it right in front of you. Service was good. Sushi was pretty good as well
Viviana Acevedo
It worths every penny and the wait!! Our favorite sushi restaurant.
Julie Chiu
My go-to for dine in sushi during their happy hour! Wonderful place with good atmosphere, service, and delicious sushi at fair prices! Definitely recommend a visit, especially when weather is nice and you can enjoy your feast on their patio!
Joe E
gosh, by the long wait time and long line i was expecting better than average sushi. it was actually a little disappointing, after a long wait to get seated, then a long time to order and finally get the food, it was not anything special. kinda average or less.it was edible and fresh but between the drive, the wait , the uninspired service, I'm not in any hurry to go back. ate tonight at the place near my house and it was much better, not to mention closer, quicker, better service, etc:)
Paras Bansal
Delicious sushi, great atmosphere, and reasonably priced. One of my favorite places in the Twin Cities!
E J P
Fantastic sushi happy hour! Very popular and usually busy but the delicious menu makes it worth the crowd! Not to mention the chicken and shrimp fried rice! 👌 Worth a visit or two! ☺ …
Carissa Stimpfel
I’ve been coming to Wakame for over six years, and have always thought highly of it— once even driving through a blizzard on Christmas Eve to eat there. However, the sushi I had this last week was some of the most lack-luster I have ever eaten in my life in every way: the sushi rolls were put together messily and barely pressed closed; the rice was dry and flavorless; worst of all, the raw fish itself had none of the flavor or brightness you expect from good, fresh fish, and the pinkness and texture of the salmon flesh was alarmingly underwhelming. The pieces of eel in the eel roll were mostly skin and not meat. The ikura roe were starting to deflate, a sign of being past peak age and also lacking flavor. I think I’ll have to pass on Wakame in the future knowing there are other, better sushi restaurants nearby (Raku has never done me dirty like this). At least I’ll have the memories of how glorious they once were.
P T
Lil crowded but good sushi
Anthony Harrington
Best place for sushi hands down! Get ready for some amazing food and the best people watching! Don't be put off by the wait.. grab a drink and kick back and wait.. worth it!
Moises Cruz
This is my favorite sushi place in the twin cities! As a vegetarian, it's hard to find good veggie options, but here I can find delicious and colorful veggie rolls!! The place can get crowded, so try to make reservations or arrive early!
Chelsea Hedstrom
I always order the teriyaki chicken for carry out multiple times a week and ask for soy sauce on the side. The container the soy sauce comes in is really awful and spills all over the place in my car nearly every time. I love the food and would recommend it to everyone! I just wish they would do something about the sauce containers ....
Also the lighting in the women's bathroom is awful. The lighting in the main restaurant is dim and beautiful- perfect for a date and then walking to the bathroom it's as if all the lights came on in the club and its two in the morning.
Steve O
Favorite place in town. George is The Man. If the proprietor makes the place, then George is why this place is so good.
Excellent service, awesome food, reasonable prices (what sushi is "cheap"???). What more can you want? How about a late night happy hour 7 days/week. Bazinga
Put it on your list.
Mark Pegus
Food is great always has been but please for goodness sake get that woman off the phone answering your take out calls. Rude rude rude. This has been mentioned to me from other people and I’ve given her the benefit of the doubt but it just keeps happening. She obviously dislikes her job. Dislikes dealing with customers and being the restaurants first point of contact is not in her skill set, she may be better suited in back of house or somewhere else not having to deal with any human beings.
John Barber
This place is fun for all. They have a lively bar scene. A nice sit-down sushi bar, as well as comfortable booths and outdoor seating in the Summer. The best thing is that they keep their price point at a place where you can justify being a regular here.
The food is delicious. They have very interesting and unique sushi rolls. They also offer a little Thai, a little Chinese as well as assorted Japanese classics like a bento box.
My favorites are the seaweed salad, hot and sour soup (best I have ever had), the bento box, and a few of their sushi rolls. The "Crunpy Roll" is nothing short of perfection for me. The "Crazy Tuna Roll" also send me to my happy place.
Wakame Sushi is great for small and large parties. They have it down.
Oliver Dylla
Wakame sushi is my go to place everytime I am in the cities and want the best sushi available. Everything is always fresh and the environment is amazing!
Deanna D
This review is for the happy hours which are plentiful
This is my 4th time in over the last couple of years and it has earned a 4 star review for:
Salmon that melts in your mouth at a decent Minneapolis price.
$2.50 for a perfect, thick, creamy, melt in your mouth piece nigiri salmon... i already want more
•Deals on rolls - we especially enjoy Hot and Spicy Girl
•Deals on most drinks
•Good location
Tip:
Go before 5 - if you don't want to wait for a table at the early HH
Nadine Parris
Great food - even to-go. Big menu to choose from. Good hostess service & a fast kitchen (I ordered to go). Its one of my go to spots. But be prepared to wait if you want a table - there's NEVER not been a line (in over 6 years of me going there)
Nicole Stanley
Great sushi and great Happy Hour prices. One of the best places to go for sushi, I continue to come back to this spot. Parking is tough when it's busy though, so may have to walk a little.
Margaret Loveless
Love love love it. I am going to recommend this place to all of my friends. I have had the best lunch ever yesterday and wish I lived closer so I could go everyday for lunch. Look for Tanner he'll help you out. M
Matthew Gantz
Wakame is by far my favorite sushi spot in Minneapolis. Their crazy monkey roll is closer to candy than true sushi, but I love it all the same. I'm not a huge fan of sashimi either, but I ordered the (platonic) love boat with a friend once and was quite content. Try coming during happy hour late at night for reduced prices on most rolls.
Matt Kalan
Got spicy miso sea bass. The fish was ok but the veggies were like the steamed veggies side without any flavor or preparation. The mango roll was pretty good. Probably sushi is all you should get there
Andrew Zabel
Great happy hour deals. For Minnesota it's a great sushi place, I'd say best in Minneapolis. After living in California it's hard to find a good one in the Midwest, and this one I'd say is the best one I've found yet in the area.
Kayla Bierschbach
Wakame is one of my favorite sushi places in the city. Great atmosphere, close to the lake, and the food is delicious. They also have great lunch and happy hour specials!
Maureen Campion
They took such good care of us. The sushi is wonderful but they also have other great food for those non sushi folks.
victoria salazar
the sustituir was excelente and the service too
Randy Hanson
I have been back a number of times since last review. Discussed the issue with the restaurant manager, and I have had zero complaints about the service since. Revising my score. I left the restaurant after waiting 15 minutes for service. I was seated immediately served water then ignored. After waiting 15 minutes I asked to talk manager, she said she was sorry but it was due to the fact the 2 tables one i was seated at, and the one next to it didn't have an assigned server. Wut? So servers can arbitrarily decide who gets service and who doesn't.
And this is the second time exceedingly poor service had occurred here. First time I asked my server for water, none served. Asked a second time... none. Asked a different server.. none.
But the food is good.
Josh Kroehler
This sushi is some of the very best I’ve ever had. The fish is fresh and the rolls are loaded with amazing ingredients. To top it off the cowboy sauce is out of this world!! This place is an absolute MUST!!
Sal
It's busy here, I mean really busy here especially after work hours. But the food is worth it. Tons of options with the happy hour menu having some great deals on rolls. Overall very enjoyable experience
Timothy Katterjohn
Grate service even tho they wore super busy! Really good food and amazing atmosphere! The men's bathroom is super small tho, so just be prepared 😁
Wolfgang Feierabend
This is the best place in town for sushi. I have consistently received amazing service, friendly staff', and never leave hungry. This is my go-to for a satisfying sushi experience. Keep doing what you are doing,! Yums.
Clair Salyer
Best sushi in the Twin Cities! Fantastic rolls - I love the BMW Roll. And you can't beat the happy hour prices. Whenever someone asks what my favorite restaurant is, my answer is always Wakame!!
John Belcher
Excellent sushi and service. If there is someplace in the Twin Cities that is better, I’d like to know about it. The only negative is it’s sometimes so busy you have to wait for a table or your order. Otherwise I couldn’t give it a higher recommendation.
Natasha Rakotz
They did a great job managing social distancing with guests. Very friendly and inviting. Sushi was spot on and the tiramisu was legit!
Andrea Rain
I've been to a lot of sushi restaurants all around Minneapolis and Wakame has some of the freshest ingredients! Their sake nigiri is melt in your mouth amazing! Their employees are great too and I enjoy the environment. I will be going back again and again.
Kelly Van Eschen
GREAT Sushi and nice happy hour. Always super busy when I go so plan accordingly! The atmosphere is great, the wait staff is attentive and friendly and the food is great all around.
Jeff Helseth
Amazing Happy Hour deals. Always packed which is an indication it’s pretty damn good. If you can go early during the 3pm to 6pm Happy Hour it’s usually pretty easy to get in. Can’t wait until my next visit!
Krysta Vancil
Service is always excellent and food is good. This place can get really busy during dinner hours and have long wait times but definitely worth it. I’m always coming back. Recommend fresh spring rolls & the wakame signature roll. Panang curry is delicious as well.
Chad Berseth
Well run restaraunt. The manager/owner is very involved. Plenty of hosts to ensure tables are cleaned and seated fast. Happy hour is a great deal, and the regular menu pricing is reasonable.
Ethan Schmidt
Went here after a long day at the lake and it was incredible! Sushi was amazing, and service was really good as well. Food also came very quick!
J.A. Guerrero
Wakame is an excellent place to enjoy Japanese food. Happy hour have terrific prices. But yo need to be patient, because likely you need to spend like an hour waiting for a table.
Bre L
Delectable sushi and fast-service! My fiance and I thoroughly enjoyed the sushi and beef teriyaki. Both dishes came out in unison and were devoured joyfully alongside our hot sake.
Mary Newman
Fine place for tasty Japanese food. Got there near seven, it wasn't very crowded. I look forward to a return trip. Bring your hunger - portions are generous
Bruce C
The food is always very fresh and they have great happy hour pricing -- even on the weekend. Excellent outdoor setting as well as a sushi bar, a regular bar, and indoor tables -- whatever you're in the mood for.
David J
One of the best sushi places I have been to in the United States. Love their food! Love the dragon Mojito.
Brandon Casper
Easily one of the best sushi spots in the cities. Great atmosphere, staff and owner. Love the late night happy hour. Sushi and BPM, what's not to love.
Alex melnichenko
This place is amaising from walk in. Food is fresh and delicious, waitress was attentive and fast and nice. Would recommend to all for a drink, snack, or dinner. I would recomend calling ahead and asking how long the wait is or getting a reservation because this place booming and everyone wants in.
Travis Wellik
Good food, crunchy roll was outstanding. Waitress seemed less than thrilled to be there. Although she knew about the menu quite well.
Yna V
This is probably my favorite sushi spot in Minnesota. The baked green mussels are my favorite along with the spicy crab salad. The Thai Basil wings are meh, entrees are meh, I’ve had better but the sushi here is amazing.
Molly Pollei
My favourite place in the world to dine and drink at, without a doubt. I've been going there for a decade and have never been disappointed ❤
Nadiya Safonova
Great food, staff is very nice! Nice atmosphere. Parking a bit heard, but worth it
AMO
Best sushi In town in a great atmosphere with excellent service. I recommend the Jeremy Roll and the Hot & Spicy Girl Roll.
Juliet Cook
We were in town for the weekend and a friend recommended Wakame. Wise choice as a the food was amazing and they seem to take the current health crisis very seriously.
juan guerrero
Amazing food. You must enjoy the Happy Hour. Great service
David Rickheim
One of the better sushi restaurants in minneapolis. Great service and solid beer/sake options. Sushimi is worth trying
Steve Gasser
Great sushi and service. I was here with 8 others.
Bill C (Smitty)

JIPortillo
I can’t recommend this place enough. I mostly go for their happy hour, but the atmosphere and location(near lake Calhoun) is great! Hands down one of my favorite spots in Minneapolis!!
Perryn E
The food is great, and the portions are large! All for a reasonable price. The staff did a great job accommodating us, even though it was a very busy Friday night with a line out the door.
Ashley Haglin
Hands down my favorite place to get sushi! If you are able to get in during happy hour it is very reasonably priced too! Either way it is worth it though!!!
Kate Heitzman
One of the best sushi restaurants in Minneapolis, in my opinion. Great rolls, a full bar and awesome service. Love the outdoor patio and convenient parking.
Becky Southwick
The sushi is wonderful. They also have a lunch and late night happy hour! Regardless of when you go- you'll love the food.
Emmaline Gorman
AMAZING sushi. The Jeremy Roll is my #1!
Sharon Kennedy
One of my favorite restaurants in town. Sushi is always fresh and melts in my mouth. A wonderful variety for every taste. Staff is good.
John Mares
Excellent Sushi. Great staff. George the owner deserves a 5 STAR for his diligence in managing a difficult situation during COVID-19
Ben Trappen
Always a wait for a seat, but it's always worth it. The food is great, the drinks flow and the atmosphere in the evening is fun and energetic. Definitely recommend. Probably not the best place to bring your child after 7pm
Mindy Johnson
Great sushi, the place is really cozy and it smells GOOD. The staff work side to side with the owner himself!
Xusifixer
Best sushi I've had in the cities. Also they had an amazing dining area and excellent service. This is now my sushi destination for the cities.
Ayantu T Usha
Well I have been going here for the past three 5yrs. My fav sushi place in MN. Staff are very nice and the sushi is amazing. Specially the crazy monkey roll😳😳. Please try it …
Sowmya Rachakonda
I am a vegetarian and was never fond of going to Sushi places because of the limited options.
Wakame has surely changed this for me.
It is by far the best Sushi place I have been to.
Their Kabocha roll is to die for!
R Hook
Was my first visit there. We ordered a variety of sushi rolls and every one tasted wonderful. The service was great.
Tyler Hilligoss
Wakame is likely my favorite spot for sushi rolls, especially if you can hit their happy hour. We also tried their Szechuan edamame, which was spectacular.
Blue Bird
Best sushi in Minneapolis. Great selection of food and drinks... Nice date night spot but I made reservations and still had to wait 20 minutes
Jenny Palmateer
Amazing Sushi. Bento Box lunches are great. So much food, a little of everything for $12.95. what a great deal
Gary Koelling
Friendly, attentive staff. Delicious food. Terrific menu
Heather
Excellent sushi and affordable happy hour pricing, but get there early as it fills up quickly! Great patio as well.
Chouaib Hamila
Really tasty sushi if your in the mood for seafood I highly recommend it as the number one place to go to. prices are reasonable but awesome on the happy hour.
Justin Reese
The prices seem a bit high, but the quality is amazing, and quick to get seated. Limited parking due to where the place is located, but I don't blame the restaurant for that. If you like sushi, this is a must-visit.
Daniel LaRose
The food was fine. There was zero Covid tracing, and no social distancing between tables outside My beer glass had a broken handle and chipped more as I set it down. Unsure if I will be back.
