The dogs themselves are really good but had too much toppings to really taste the dogs. If we go back, I would get the double dog or bigger dog because I love toppings too. Fries were good just slightly overpriced. We sat outside which was a nice options. Our cook was kissing someone in the back hallway while orders we’re waiting. So we, and all the orders piled up, had to wait longer than we should have for 2 dogs are fries.

Maybe I'm a little bias because I love hot dogs but at the same maybe my standards are high because I love hot dogs. Whatever the reason, my experience here was great and memorable, and I was not let down. Truly unique dogs, huge selection, well-defined menu, great service and awesome atmosphere. Indoor and outdoor seating available and an amazing selection of hot dogs, sandwiches and burgers. Can't wait to go back and try the other items. Pictured is the Carolina slaw dog and a chicago polish. Both were delicious!

Burger was done just right. Also had onion rings and fries. Thick crinkle cut fries so mashed potato like on the inside and crispy on the outside. Nice batter on the onion rings. Doesn't look like much but the food is good.

Love my uncle frankie's! Big fan of any dog but I'll take crispy chicken sandwich or the Philly cheese steak sandwich. I will always suggest to get a pizza puff to newbies. Nice outdoor seating if the weathers right. I only wish i could order a nice cold hard drink here is my only minor gripe. 3 skips and a hop away ill have to come back here sooner than later

Great hotdogs and burgers in all varieties. My absolute favorite was the chocolate malt! The malt was made with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce and a nice dose of malt powder!!! PERFECTION! Great portion sizes for the cost. I already can’t wait to go back!

a northeast institution. classic food in retro digs, but now with nicely updated patio seating out back and fully compostable to-go wear. if you’ve been driving by and never stopped in, this is your sign. go in via the front door to get your hands on their delicious meat, then order the wall street set-up with a polish, classic coney, and italian beef with sweet giardiniera.

Growing up in Chicago, its always a pleasure walking into Uncle Franky’s on Broadway. Today, I went with the Northsider Maxwell Street Polish, small fries, and a root beer with unlimited refills. The Northsider Maxwell Street Polish had a “snap” when I bit into it so I know it’s authentic and was smothered with grilled kraut and onions. When you come in you may meet Jay at the register who started it all, or a very adorable, delightful, and ever smiling young lady with such a positive attitude. Highly suggest trying out this place! A new sign stated they now have buffalo wings so will try that next time.

Had the All Beef Hot Link and it reminded me of this authentic polish dog place in a Chicago suburb. Now I don’t have to travel for hours for a delicious dog when I can just walk down the street, and at such a great deal, too! I’ll definitely be a regular here.

Good Hot Dogs but over priced. Not the best I’ve had. An order of frozen Onion Rings is $7 which is ridiculous. Uncle Franky needs to realize Gas Prices are expensive enough and chill out on his prices!

Probably one of the best local gems I've been to. The lady taking our order had the best energy, and the atmosphere was that of a local small town diner. Definitely would go again. Not to mention they have great beer battered cheese curds! Also get an order of tots, those are the bomb. Best to eat in the restaurant as the dogs tend to cool down quite a bit on the way home.

Came here for a burger and hot dog. Food was decent. The cook whom I assume was the owner was incredibly nice and offered all those eating a try of his new wings which I thought were great! Very friendly guy who genuinely cared about the customers. I'd come back to try the wings and give this another shot.

Fun little place next to my music school! This was an interesting discovery, though the place is small, it’s cozy enough and offers wide variety of dishes. Cool little twists on familiar items like hot dogs and such really made it fun experience.

I didn't care for my burger too much it was pretty dry! Best tater tots I ever had, though!! Maybe I'll try it again second time will let me know if they are a hit or miss type of spot it's always gotten great reviews that's why I tried it out but for me not the burgers I'm try something else next time

Always the best hotdogs in the metro area. We travel to Minneapolis just for Uncle Franky’s. Portions are HUGE and the price is very reasonable. Chicago dog and Coney dog are my favorites. The fries are excellent too! The service is great!

The food was good. I got the Windy City burger. It tasted alright but there was too much other stuff on there I really didn't taste the burger. I have a HUGE complaint about the cook. I think his name is Geo or Geno. He is a very rude person. As soon as we walked in he was giving us dirty looks. He is very crabby. I even noticed another gentleman give him a tip. He didn't even acknowledge him. The gentleman also told him thank you and he flat out ignored him. This is the 2nd time we've encountered this cook and both times he was absolutely rude. The 1st time he cooked for us he got mad and gave my husband a dirty look because he burnt his onion rings and my husband asked for him to make new ones. We've been coming to Uncle Frankie's for awhile. But we may stop because of him. Very uncomfortable experience when you're getting dirty looks while eating and the other staff notices and is constantly apologizing for his rudeness.

Saw this hotdog joint and had to stop. Food was fresh and hot. I hope I am in the area again so I can try the Chicago Polish. I dont know if i met Uncle Franky but the guy in there was a trip. Dont know how long he has been around but thats a real deal hotdog stand.

Great food. Great prices. Incredible food! Is really simple: humble place, kind of small, looks kinda old but don’t get me wrong is not dirty or anything like that, actually those guys keep the place really clean! Cashier was so amazing, really helpful explaining us how the place works, we got the Philly sandwich with special requests and cheesy fries. It was just incredible! Best on the city! We’re surprised how affordable food is there! So recommended.

I had hear about this place so much and really wanted to try it. I do have a disclaimer that i am vegetarian hence my review is based on the veggie burger and the sides that I tried. It really wasn’t great value for money as we got 2 veggie burgers and 2 sides and ended up paying almost 30 bucks. The onion rings were greasy and burnt. The sauces were alright. Not sure if I will be back here, but it seemed to really pick up lunch hour so I am assuming they are doing something right with the meats!

Delicious food and great prices. Visited Uncle Franky’s when I was craving a hot dog after a long winter. Ordered the Chicago and Wall Street dog (pictured). This would also be good for a late night snack! Doesn’t have a great look from the street but has a cool vibe on the inside

Came In here after seeing the good reviews. At first it looks like nothing special from the outside, but once you get inside it's truly a great restaurant. Inside is nothing fancy, but it has a very good homely kind of feeling. The atmosphere is very homey and alive. The chef Lonnie and the manager Bobby were both very welcoming and outgoing and made sure we got our food how we like it as well as feeling like we were at a family gathering. The juicy Lucy was delicious and the Chicago dog was cooked the way a Chicago dog should be made.( plus amazing prices) By far the best place to come to for hotdogs, burgers and fries. Highly recommend to escape from the hot or cold and have some good comfort food in a warm atmosphere.

Food was great and staff was awesome! Everything here is about as simple as it comes—think ballpark food—but it’s done to perfection, at a great price. By the way, only order a large fry if you’re ordering for a crowd.

Interesting! Heard good reviews about this place so I had to try. Ordered the Chicago dog and for some reason they dyed their relish green?? The taste isn't bad. The fries are, well frozen tasting but I'd be willing to try other items on the menu considering the good reviews. Overall not bad, except for the dye. Edit: ok maybe the dye isn't so bad considering its standard.:)

Out of town guests looking for somewhere to eat that isn't chains like McDonald's or Sonic. The juicy juicy burger is pepperjack cheese stuffed and is probably their best menu item! They also had a very decent coney dog. All the soggy bun complainers have never had a good coney dog haha. We ordered a few different things to try and the wait time wasn't bad at all. Four stars for the atmosphere. There's a lot going on for decor and color scheme.

Great selection of neat hot dog combinations. Being born and raised in Chicago, the Chicago dog wasnt right. The relish is wrong and the bun was stale. The price was a bit high for one hot dog and no fries. I would try it again as it's a neat place, just hope to see the quality improve.

It’s all about location from the outside you think nothing special. Once you go in you get the down to earth vibe where you get a sense of home. The Motown Burger was great! A nice juicy burger with chili on top with a hint of spice pit it over the top! Great food great cooks great service!

Had a great lunch here! I’ve gotten Uncle Franky’s ordered at work a handful of times before and it’s always been great. But getting to actually be in this great friendly environment was definitely an experience I treasure. Although I had never been to Uncle Franky's upon entering I knew exactly what I was getting, you don't visit the kingdom without getting a look at the king so I ordered the Chicago Italian Beef sandwich with hot peppers and a side of fries. Dipped, naturally. I sat outside in a nice patio area and the two friendly women working brought out the order with ketchup and a fork, what else does a man need. The bread with perfectly dipped, not soggy and plenty of flavor. The beef has a kick of its own but the peppers provide the zing you're looking for. The fries were low key thicc cut and held a firm consistency. Plus the water bottle had a funny saying so props to that "Relish your weiner, use a condiment". All around fantastic experience, I'll be back for the dogs and the burger next time.

This place is great! If you love interesting "hole-in-the-wall" joints with interesting people hand crafting great, greasy food, then you just hit a gold mine. I had a Chicago Beef sandwich with everything and a Coney Island Hot Dog, everything was great. I'll be back...soon

No-frills hole-in-the-wall, literally THE CLOSEST THING you will get to real Chicago-style dogs ANYWHERE west of the Mississippi. Celery salt, poppyseed buns, Vienna beef, Maxwell polishes, Hancock Center portraits, blues music, and errthang! Buns could be a moister, but, eh, can't have everything.

I saw pictures of the Chicago dogs at this place online and had to check it out! Super cool old school feel inside. Employees were making burger Pattie’s and the grill was hoppin when we walked in. I got a Chicago (jumbo) Dog and it was very tasty. All you could ask for in an authentic Chicago dog flavor. From the relish to the bun and the emphasis on no ketchup on the menu assured me that I had made a great choice. Overall would recommend, get the fries too. Very “meaty” fries and not too salty. Compliments the Chicago dog very well!

This place has great prices and great greasy food. I had the double chili burger with cheese curds and loved it. They even offer a triple. They have their own soda brands and their menu is huge. (they don't serve alcohol) I think the atmosphere comes off as a hip place for kids to go after school. I would definitely make an effort to get here at least once.

I can't believe I hadn't eaten here before until now! Very casual Chicago-themed diner - I really like the hostess/server/face of Uncle Franky's. She refilled my drink, checked in on me while ringing up customer and taking orders and had such a positive, upbeat attitude! I had a Windy City burger with chili cheese fries and a root beer for lunch which was phenomenal. Their tables and restroom were also very clean, I noticed. Can't wait to go back with friends and family sometime!

Was my 1st visit. I got the classic dog. My fiancé got the coney dog. Sides were onion rings and cheese curds. Coney sauce had good flavor, I'll be getting that one next time. Love the poppy seed buns. They forgot my onions and it was early and slow that's the only reason they didn't get 5 stars. We will be going back soon.

Uncle Franky’s is exactly what you can expect from a hotdog and burger joint. Loud greasy, delicious, and fun. The man at the register was very nice and thoughtful didn’t mind throwing out a free drink while we waited. The dogs were great. Not too many people carry a slawdog anymore, and that was an excellent nostalgic treat. I would love to come back anytime I’m in town. Thanks for the dogs!

This is just a fantastic wiener place! The staff is smooth and friendly, the dogs are fantastic, the atmosphere is fun without an ounce of pretension. Good onion rings. Chicago dog was pretty good. Skip the burger though, although the bun was great, the patty itself didn't seem fresh or tasty. Inside is small and a bit unkempt. I imagine a good place to end a night of drinking.

I have only been here once, but I had the chicken sandwich and onion rings and they were amazing. The chicken was juicy and crispy, and the whole sandwich was well balanced. The rings were flaky and battered-- yum! I can't give a full review because I didn't pay much attention to the prices or other items but i'll be back. Staff was nice too.

Don't judge the food by the appearance of the restaurant. It's really good! The classic Italian beef is great, but if you want a real "fat kid" treat, order fries or tots topped with beef, Coney sauce, and cheese sauce. It was so good, several eyes rolled back into heads as we ate.

FIRST time, been hearing about it food was good, customer service gal was nice tried Italian beef as she suggested, it was good and huge!!!! One of my favorite hot dog places!! They offer official Chicago style hot dogs and brats!! And the spicy Cajun fried brat is DELICIOUS!! The people working there are usually friendly and funny! They are willing to custom your order, for example, I'm eating keto style now, and they made my with no bun, extra mayo, etc! Great hole in the wall joint. They have outdoor seating currently, kinda wall thru place your order and they'll bring it to you out back for covid procedures. Love our neighborhood joint. Nordeast Franky's has a cool vibe as soon as you walk in the door. The old Chicago blues are always playing, the employees are nice and we've always gotten good service here. The food today was great as always. The new tots are a hit. Our large order was huge! A very good authentic hot dog and burger place. Sides of fries, tots or onion rings round out the meal. Beware, the parking lot is a relatively small, so it can get crowded. In my experience groups tend to meet up there, too.

Theres a bit to be desired when it comes to classics... but although about 5 bucks over what id want two entrees and cheese curds to cost.... it was okay. I liked the guy that took our order... he was friendly and seemed to be a bit of a charachter. It feels like chicago street food. I had the philly and my partner had some variation on a philly. The ingredients... minute steak could have been higher quality.. The cheese sauce was oily instead of creamy. The cheese curds deep fried and beer flavor battered... but again the cheese oily and kinda chewy over the desired for at least my personal pallet... creamy or at least stretchy cheese like. The green peppers were bigger than confortable to bite... but overall it was okay. The fountain soda is bottomless and the restraunt itself kinda gritty hole in the wall flair that i can appreciate... Ill give it a second chance and try a burger.

Some people may be put off by the daytime cook, trying to understand when he shouts questions at you about what you want on your food but you get used to that and it's part of the charm. My complaint is that often things are over fried and the fries have no salt. He really enjoys joking with people and slinging out righteous food. The dog was a rarely found skin on. Milk shakes are religious. Get the tots and not fries. Fast & affordable. Dig this... A young man with mental disability came up to order a hot dog and drink. He was given a discount and receipt to tuck into an envelope labeled $20. When his food came out he was told to "Drink all you want." This is the kind of place, a place with heart, I go out of my way to patronize.

Uncle Franky's is a place which used to be commonplace all over NE Mpls-a small eatery with great food in generous portions for a modest price. It is also CLEAN! I asked for extra of a condiment, and the line cook- who was cleaning the line floor- stopped, thoroughly washed his hands and portioned my request with no bare hand contact on the condiment. I highlight this, which should be common practice, but I have rarely seen done. The staff are lovely- friendly and accomodating, and the food brought me back to the days of old Nordeast. I will definitely be back!

Mpls residents know Uncle Frankys is gr8. Visitors if you're hungry and want a lot for not so much. Have at it. Greasy and freakishly gud. Wide menu. Burgers, dogs, cheese steaks, lust goes on. Be sure to tip tge waitress and cook. Chicago natives, place a pin in your neighborhood on the map hanging from the wall. Stay and eat, inside or out. Nostalgic scooby doo scenery inside.
