Reviews of Tilia
Scott Lippert
Just blown away by the meal we enjoyed at Tilia. It was their three course price fixe menu and wow. We had seven dishes (added one on) between the two of us and every one was delicious with creative presentation. I would have to say this was an all time top 10 meal for me.
Our favorites was the grilled table bread, seared shrimp, pan fried striped bass and the dark chocolate tart. The last three are pictured here.

I really enjoyed my meal here. I ordered the three course meal. My first course was a bass crudo, which was very refreshing and loved the mango chips. The main course was the tenderloin that was medium rare. It was tender and perfectly seasoned. Then I had the chocolate tart for dessert, which was surprisingly light and with copious cream and passion fruit. The service was very welcoming and kind.

The small restaurant atmosphere was great! It was fun to see into the kitchen from our table. Loved the music (mostly popular rap). Food was delicious and service was very friendly.
Amanda Johnson
This place is adorable and the food and service were amazing! We got the three course option and shared everything. Our server was newer (she told us that) but you would have never known it! I highly recommend Tilia!

get the brunch- come early, or you'll wish you'd made reservations - - eggs Benedict will cure what ails you - Bloody Mary & beer back to sooth the savage beast - pro service staff - 1st class bar with trillions of taps - updated rest rooms - bon appetit !

Arrived really early for our reservation but got seated right away. Immediately brought out champaign for our anniversary which was a great surprise and a great way to start the evening. Proceeded to order drinks and beef tartar as an app. The app and the 3 course dinner was amazing. Between the food, service, and atmosphere it was the perfect evening. Can't recommend it enough and can't wait to go back!

We ate here for a birthday dinner last night and absolutely loved the food (the cocktails were just ok). We each had the seared shrimp as a first course which was very well prepared and had a lovely well balanced spice. For entrees the Stripped Bass Curry was phenomenal! Everything about this was amazing…crispy skin, coconut rice cake, sauce…. I would come back here just to order this again. My partner also enjoyed his petite tenderloin. We had the dark chocolate tart (great) and almond cake (ok) for dessert. Drinks: Mai tai was pretty good, old fashioned was ok, Paloma was nothing special.
Michael Rolf-Wenzell
First time there, eggs were overcooked but flavor was stunning and perfect. Bar tender was very receptive and offered to remake it but I didn't want to waste food, just wanted to have breakfast. Was nice enough to give some free beers. Went next week and everything was spot on. Even had the chef check with me. Everyone is well paid, definitively a great place to go to support small business.

No umbrellas in the patio so when the sun hits, it will be uncomfortable. I found it to be way too expensive. We didn’t have the best service. We barely have finished our meal when the waitress came over with the bill. She didn’t even asked if there was anything else we would like or asked if we enjoy the meal. There is also a service fee, so make sure to check your bill before adding.
Abbey Burtis
Food was okay and service was a bit curt. Could only do a couple bites of the panzanella as the vinegar taste overwhelmed the dish. The butternut squash soup was cold. For entrees we had the steak and gnocchi. Both were okay but steak had several very chewy bites. $55 three-course pri fixe seems like a good deal until you realize the third course is dessert (which we rarely order). Even then, dessert was fine. Lemon meringue tart was mostly meringue but the peanut butter dessert was good—very rich. All cocktails are $14. 21% automatic service charge. Overall disappointed (especially at $180 for two people) and won’t be back. I heard the French fries are good though…didn’t try those.

Really nice food and service!! I also enjoyed the music. I could taste the good quality of the ingredients. Lots of things made fresh and I enjoyed how the menu was simple and easy to go through. Chilaquiles were amazing!
Susie Whitlock
Had an absolutely delicious brunch here and can’t wait to come back for more!
Andrea Juve
We are so pleased we found this little place last spring. Such a relaxing atmosphere, amazing food, delicious drinks (both alcoholic and non), and always superb service. This restaurant/ team is a well oiled machine.

What a wonderful place for date night! I love the three course meal set up. Our food was incredible and our server was definitely passing the vibe check on our jokes lol

Bravo Steven Brown and his Amazing team for keeping Tilia alive during this challenging time.
The preeminent dining place in Minnneapolis has upped the game again with a beautifully designed Prix Fixe menu.
Our only challenge was choosing one selection from each course.
Matt Munson
This is my favorite restaurant in the world. One night we went to dinner and walked into the restaurant to find it completely empty even the staff we turn around to leave and see the entire restaurant sabering a bottle of champagne in the street. Amazing food amazing staff amazing environment.
Elle Bea
My hubs and I went to dinner at Tilia- the food wasn’t very good, but we really liked the concept, the flavors just missed the mark. Even the olive oil cake was shockingly dry. Friendly staff.
Liz Aleman Moore
We recently visited Minneapolis from SF and came here twice! Great food and drinks, wish we could have gone a third time. We loved the ambiance too. The Bloody Mary and cocktails were great, and they have Fin du Monde on tap. We loved every dish we ordered!
Dheenu Sivalingam
Went for brunch, Had their Ginger mimosa and hot chai, Their chai blend was an in-house blend was awesome. Avocado toast was great, if you get that try it with a side of hash. Ruben Benedict was great also.
Amy Workman
Favorite restaurant in the Twin Cities and has been for years. The food is impeccable. Service is always top notch. Best chef's counter in town. Great beer and wine selection. Perfect for a date night to family dinner to quick casual meal, whatever you want it to be. Nothing disappoints.
Brandon Onopa
Most importantly: the food was fantastic and perfectly presented. Wine recommendation at the bar was also spot-on. My only concerns were that the noise level seemed to be quite elevated at times (unavoidable in the small-ish space) and that service, although extremely professional and cheerful, was slow at times. However, for the food quality, it was worth it.
Leslie Schiff
Great burger, fries and drinks, sitting at the bar. Lovely relaxed service and a treat to watch the bartender!
Thorbjoern
It's a really nice place for lunch or a late hunger. The Reuben is quite good and I've found nothing they do badly. That said, their tres leches is covered in cinnamon without a mention on the menu, and I really don't like cinnamon.
One warning to any Europeans who might want to visit: they are not sure what mayonnaise is or why you would want it, but more importantly, they don't have it.
Michelle Clark
I love this place. The staff is so casually charismatic they felt like old friends on our first visit. Maybe I was just really hungry but the cheese was Devine. The bun! The grilled onions! The cheese! All better than the usual suspects. Each detail chosen for perfect balance. The beer selection has breadth & depth without being overwhelming. Nice job Tilia, you should be very proud of what you have created.
Olena Johnson
Ordered special dinner for 2 to go. Steak and polenta done to perfection; pesto adds a nice touch. Wine pairing suggested by the chef was really good - 2016 Dom Vaudoisey Pinot Noir - complemented steak nicely without the heaviness of tannins and was perfect for TC summer night. Banana cream pie desert - usually not my first choice - won me over; the only one word can describe it - luscious! Definitely looking forward to come back for brunch!
Joel Abrahamson
Love this place! Every cocktail I've ordered has been spot-on, and the dishes always bring together unexpected flavors. The brunch menu includes chilaquiles, which you don't see everywhere in the Twin Cities.
Tilia also has a thoughtful kids menu and not particularly expensive. Top it off with kind servers, and it's well worth it.
Naomi Thyden
The food was good and interesting, but not worth the price. Between us we had seven dishes and none were memorable. Small portions mean you’ll have to order several courses. I’d rather go down the street to Martina. We don’t eat meat so perhaps that is where they shine, I don’t know.
Nick Bossman
We went here on a whim and left with a smile! Great selection and a beautiful neighborhood to walk around. We had excellent food and great service!
Aimee Finley
It has been a few years since I've dined here, and WOW, that's a time lapse I won't allow to happen again! My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed the prix fixe three-course dinner and cocktails. I wish I had taken photos of each course, as the presentation was as lovely as the meal. The bass crudo was fresh and bright and tangy, the pan seared bass had a perfectly crisp skin and a delicious light curry sauce, and the chocolate tart with passionfruit was much lighter and more flavorful than I'd typically expect from a chocolate dessert. Our server was attentive and friendly. Over all, the experience was absolutely delightful and I'll be back soon!
Sharon Yang
have been really excited to try tilia for a while. loved getting to hang at the bar and watch all the dishes come together. had the shrimp with fermented black bean sauce and peas - a little too salty but the shrimp were cooked perfectly. the citrus salad with fennel, manchego, and hazelnuts absolutely knocked it out of the park. what a great way to showcase some perfectly sweet sour grapefruit. will definitely come back to try some other things on the menu!
John Sorgaard
Wow. Really surprised. Lived up to expectations created by rave reviews by friends. Try the chicken liver with pickled blue berries. Very nice. The blood orange IPA was delicious.
Yao E
A hidden jewel. Very creative chef! Every dish is beyond expectation and therefore worth visiting again!
Valbona Bushi
Stopped by right before dinner where it’s a more limited menu but still plenty of good options. They split the torta between the two of us which was great and the liver mousse was fantastic too.
Michael Vanderscheuren
We're not regulars but we always seem to have a good time here. Our preference is to sit at the bar for a drink. If snacks are had or maybe a meal, the food never disappoints. The beer list is well-curated. The staff is always helpful and friendly. We split a burger. It was expertly cooked with quality ingredients you'd expect for the price. Also, it's the kind of place you feel surrounded by others having a good time. Four stars.
Mike Ford
Terrific time @ Tilia. High energy Friday night vibe, walked in, relaxed at the bar for 45 minutes before seating. Great beer selection and friendly knowledgeable staff. Enjoyed everything we tried: shrimp appetizer, cheeseburger split 4 ways, fish torta was superb, ricotta cavatelli, cacio e pepe. Hope to be back soon!
Chelsie GawneMark
Love Tilia! This is the sister restaurant to St Genevieve and has an outstanding wine selection as well as a creative and well-executed menu. The staff are amazing! Do not hesitate to wait a little in the cold to get a seat in here.
Daniel Jarratt
Tilia was crowded, which meant a loud atmosphere and at times slow service. But the waiter was friendly, the look and feel of the place was thoughtful, and the food was quite good. I recommend the fresh donuts and kimchee chilequiles. Tilia is less expensive than I expected for the experience.
Jason Camis
Great little neighborhood gem in Linden Hills. Went for brunch and everything was spot on. Make sure to try the Poached Eggs in Parmesan Cream!
Emily Winters
I’ve been here for brunch and their NYE dinner and both were delicious. I love the size of the space and the variety of all the menus. Plus the price makes sense for what you get. Love Tilia!
Emily H
Was able to get into Tilia for lunch with no wait! The menu is small, but definitely some solid options! I agree with the other Yelpers that the fish torta is AWESOME!
I don't think I would pick it again over some other options in the area. The menu is limited both on the food and the wine side. The only real reason I would go back is for the fish Torta.
Armin Nazarinia
Amazing meal with true flavor in every bite. Would highly recommend it
Gregory Niles
Awesome place with fantastic service, delicious and unique food, and a good beer selection!
Ashley S
Great spot for brunch! And, situated in a cute neighborhood.
It's not very big, so expect a little bit of a wait during busy hours.
The brunch was delicious! I think I had the Monte Crisco, but I am no longer seeing that on the menu. The rest of the group really enjoy their meals, as well. Tasty, unique flavors. This is the type of spot you go to for brunch if you want a twist on standard breakfast plates, with lots of flavor.
If you do bring along the kids, they give them some fun things to play with. Nice touch.
If I lived in the area, I'd definitely go back!
Jorge Enrique Vargas Balvin
this is the perfect bacon cheeseburger , beef, bun, bacon, mushrooms, everything is perfect. I’ll back for sure and recommend 100%. Thx
Igor Corti
Great food and service! The coffee was very good their music is always spot on!
Betty Hackbarth
The food was taste, however, several things need addressing in my opinion.
We dined for Sunday lunch, the menu was short, 7 items, and several specialty drinks. I ordered the rhubarb spritz, but they were out of it. My husband ordered a drink with coke, the were out of coke.
We had three in our group, two if us ordered the avocado shrimp toast entee, and were told that they had one left.
If you have 7 entrees on your menu, you shouldn't run out. My husband ordered hashbrowns, and they came as we were finishing up. We asked for dessert menus, and was told they only have a donut.
The patio was pleasant. Our waiter was inattentive.
They put a 21%gratitude automatically.
The three of us, without desserts was 146.

Very good food and very knowledgeable bar tenders. Loved the liverwurst be on a plate with crackers, this description does not do justice, it was great. Excellent burgers too. Many places err on having too many selections, this place has less selections but what they offer is super good. Excellent old fashioned and beer selection, the bar tenders take the time to help you make a selection you will like. We sat at the bar and had dinner there, a night my wife and I talk about often. You can sit in a conventional table too or at the 'kitchen' bar, all look great. a bit expensive but you will enjoy the added service from the bar and kitchen. A neighborhood bar I wish I lived close to.
emily geiger
Went for Sunday brunch. Food was amazing and service was outstanding. Would highly recommend!
Dean Trimble
Ok, so if you are serious about breakfast and eggs Benedict and corned beef and Reubens and fried potatoes, make sure you get to this place before you die. The Rueben Benedict is well, see for yourself aaammmmaaazzziiinnng! Sit at the bar and you might be fortunate enough get Gigi as your server, also amazing!
Heather
Excellence and joy wrapped up with comfort and class. Food that consistently pleases and is reliably delectable. Perfect. Give Chef a James Beard already!
Emily
I don't think people have accurately gauged this place. Yes it's expensive because it's fine dining. If you want Denny's prices, go to Denny's. I have been here multiple times and each time I come I have excellent food and incredible service. The food is always bursting with flavor and quickly arrives to the table. I have had a hard time filling up there is so much food. (Order a few small plates for brunch, I promise it won't disappoint!)
Not sure why this place has such negative feedback- maybe people don't know what real European portions and food is like..? Anyway, highly recommend anything on the menu and the coffee is fabulous. Also, their extensive wine list is wonderful as well.
Check them out! But only if you're a classy/European type of diner. 🤗
Glenda Mello
The food is amazing and the staff is very friendly. Their atmosphere could be improved, there's not a lot of personality. You'll definitely remember them from their great staff and food!!
Ryan P
Love this place for the food, the drinks, the service, the atmosphere. The Reuben is top notch, also love the cheeseburger, fries, and brussel sprouts. The beer and wine selection is great. Be warned, it's a small place and the kitchen is open to the dining area so you will smell like whatever was cooking during the time you were there; small price to pay.
Lina
Nothing but good things about this place.
We found it kind of on a whim, and had a wonderful experience. Our hostess/server was lovely, and I wish we saved room for dessert. My burger was perfectly medium rare.
We’ll be seeing you soon for brunch and more people-watching!
Andrew H
Cozy and relaxed atmosphere but with top quality food and creative eats. The service is excellent and shares in the total profits of the restaurant.
Reasonably priced and casual enough to call a neighborhood joint even if it is 3 course prixfixe
Fazel Zare Bidoky
The place was cool. Super friendly staff, good food and price. I ordered slow poached eggs in parmesan cream and I like it. My wife had avocado toast which was fine except the toast which was over toasted and a little bit burned. She liked the staff taking care of coffee all the time without asking though. I recommend it for a brunch.
Catherine Ormberg
The food was fantastic! However service was “just ok”. Servers not helpful when describing the menu. Difficult to understand what they were saying as it was so loud in the restaurant. Recommend waiting until after mask mandate for a great experience. Prices a bit high.
David Wilson
Tilia is rated as one of the best restaurants in the city for good reason. Even the cheeseburger and fries exceed all expectations. Tilia is currently serving a pris fix menu with more options for take out. Cocktails at the bar are thoughtfully crafted.
Andrea
Our server was welcoming and friendly. He offered wine samples to me to ensure I'd get a glass of wine I enjoyed. Upon learning of our special occasion he quickly congratulated us and comped our cappuccino and dessert wine. The food was very good. The restaurant warm and cozy and full of delicious flavors and aromas.
Kurt Bosch
Top notch, wanted to try everything on the menu. Our spinach salad was delicious, spot on balance of ingredients and both soft boiled eggs were perfect. Amazing "tapas" plated exquisitely. Would highly recommend any time day or night.
Georgean Polakiewicz
We were seated immediately.
Service was good, Food was fantastic. The cream puffs yummy & left us wanting more. But the smashed hashbrown were outstanding.
The omelette was cooked to perfection! Our waffles with the kumquat dressing were delicious.
Kudos to the Chef!
Susan Rockers
Best idea I’ve had all week! I found some morel mushrooms and decided to entrust them to the Tilia staff to make some magic. WHAT a DELICIOUS decision! The meal they created was absolutely fabulous!! The drive up meal delivery was super easy! Love them!! Hope others will help us support this neighborhood gem!
Christian Lizaola
Unbelievable experience I had last night. I had made a reservation and in the notes asked if they could put flowers on the table as I was celebrating my girlfriends birthday. They put a dozen roses on the table, brought out complimentary glass of champagne, and the service was unbeatable. The food is some of the most delicious food you will ever try as well. Absolute top notch service, will be back and will continue to promote Tilia to everyone. Thank you!!
Chase Nelson
I'd always wanted to try Tilia but never had the chance to stop in. The lunch/dinner menu they offer is truly amazing. It gives you the chance to taste so many flavors that most restaurants confine to specific times of the day. The steak was the best dish I've had at Tilia, but everything is great. If you're wondering about getting takeout during Covid, it's worth it.
Pieter K
Perfect avocado toast for brunch. Friendly atmosphere.
Andy Larsen
Amazing meal. Got some plates to share with my date which was great. Extremely creative and delicious food. Basil soup was outstanding.. chicken liver mousse was unreal and the cacio e pepe was outstanding. Will ABSOLUTELY come back.
Oh and the homemade ginger ale was the perfect option for someone like myself who doesn't drink alcohol. It was the best I've ever had.
Tyler Bye (DnT Gaming)
The fish taco torta sandwich is the best sandwich I've had in my entire life.
Brittany Brama
Tilia has always been impressive but what they are able to do with their current pre fixe menu is phenomenal. Atmosphere is as fantastic as always, same knowledgeable and kind servers. Make the trip!
Jodi Irwin
Very nice. Good food and, not swift, but solid service. Very overpriced. Not at all equal to the experience. Wine prices extremely high with no accessible options. Small portions. Was expecting something more casual, this is fine dining and prices to match, regardless of the neighborhood vibe and servers wearing jeans and casual clothing.
Peter Schwarz
Having only ordered the gorgonzola burger and fries, I can only review it. That being said, it's a great burger in a fantastic cafe. The ambiance reminds me of a classic Parisian cafes, yet doesn't feel like they are playing that card too hard. The tap list is good and rotates somewhat frequently, and their wine list looks great (plan to try that next time). The staff is friendly, as well. Love this place and wish I lived a little closer so I could go more often...
Aries Villanite
Beautiful place. Awesome atmosphere. Lauren behind the bar was amazing to watch I've never seen a bartender be so efficient. Manager Mike is a great guy, went out of his way to ask me about my dinner. I've got nothing bad to say. Try the Hanger Steak and Brussel Sprouts.
Elizabeth Fuller
I wasn’t sure they would accommodate my group of 16. But with no hesitation they made it happen for me and I was thrilled. It was my first time in the restaurant as well as most of my friends and I was impressed with the staff’s service and eye for detail! When we got our food... all of use gazed at our plates and admired the beauty and thoughtfulness that went into presentation . I absolutely loved the shrimp and grits and my friends were happy as well. We’ll definitely be back and I’m absolutely referring this place to others. Well done!
Marina Duchesneau
What a lovely place! That smoked pork shank was to die for! Excellent flavor and still thinking about it!! Besides the food, the service was on point! Very happy with the entire dining experience, and was very impressed by the wine list. Hands down a wonderful place to eat at! I will be back for sure!
Jeffrey Wright
A great example of a neighborhood bistro serving un-fussy food with great skill and attention to detail. Always good.
Front of the house staff can be a bit surly and “cooler than you” but generally relaxed and certainly more palatable than the staff at St Genevieve.
Menu is limited, no specials and doesn’t change all that often so not for everyone. But if you are in the neighborhood like I am, it’s perfect.
Becky Christopher
One of my favorite restaurants in the Twin Cities. My husband and I like to go here for special occasions. The food is amazing - every dish has layers of flavor and textures. There's also a great beer selection and friendly, helpful staff. The only downside is that it's fairly small and they don't take reservations, so it can be a bit of a wait, but well worth it!
Elizabeth Karelse
I come here frequently and I've loved every single thing I've ordered, whether it was an appetizer, breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert... It's always delicious and presented beautifully. The menu changes seasonally and I'm always looking forward to see what new things are on special. Great location too: perfect for a Sunday brunch, followed by a walk around Lake Harriet!
Aubrie Gould
I love Tilia! The food never disappoints. We tend to go more often for brunch and it serves one of the best biscuits and gravy in the city according to my husband. I had the French omelette this past Saturday and it was phenomenal. Great service as well.
Justin Donner
Tremendous flavor achievements with such attention to detail, and the perfect atmosphere for terrific dinner conversation. The dim lights, cozy atmosphere (only seats about 50), and creative, yet classy decor compliment the amazing food perfectly. Small but thoughtful menu, with great plates like I learned to cook back when I was a chef in California. The scallops are sensational, which is more impressive given how hard it is to find great seafood without an ocean nearby.
Tim Michalski
Ordered the meatballs and an old fashioned for a late afternoon snack. Wasn't expecting much, but was completely blown away by the BEST meatball I didn't know could exist. Which part of heaven, oh ball of secret meat blend and spices, did you descend from?
The old fashioned was very well made and went perfectly well with the meatballs. Thank you Tilia for blowing my mind.
Paul Miller
Excellent restaurant in a perfect location. Service was brilliant, suggestions from server were great. Food is fantastic, perfect if you just want a light bite or something to share. Kids Are well catered for plus they have little bags of toys for the children to play with.
Cassie Meyer
I've only ever ordered here for pick-up, but the process is very seamless and quick. The fish sandwich is amazing and they have some of the best french fries in Minneapolis!
Anna D.
Delicious food with creative menu. Seating is limited to 50 people, so go early or put your name in and they will personally CALL you when your table is ready. We went for a walk and stopped for tea at a nearby shop while we waited. Try the Ricotta Cavatelli! The Honey Cake for dessert was excellent, too.
Christopher MacLeod
The food here is on par, the service was very good, and the atmosphere is just lovely. Would to back, and back.
The main course menu is very small, 4-5 options, which I find nice, but it also has a few sandwich (burger) options of the small list doesn't win you over
Rosemary Lucas
Best meal I've had ever! Our server Kimberly was spot on with wine pairing. From start to finish all was outstanding. Can't wait til we return.
Nick Wishard
Our order was lost, but they made up for it by giving us some free breakfast snacks and removing our coffees from the bill. This is a great place to go if you're looking for something small, slightly different, but still very delicious. Atmosphere is that of a casual restaurant.
Ruthiye g
This place was so quaint and cozy and the atmosphere was perfect. It was hopping because it has amazing and delectable food!!! I went here on a first date and it couldn't have been more my style. They had cute antiques decorating the restaurant and bar area. Adorable. Very simple. And just enough!
Now, the food!!! It was to die for!! I had the cauliflower soup and it had bits of Apple and other small cut up pieces!!! Can't describe how delectable it was and it was so much better with each bite. Muah! Mm. My date had the chicken and Brussels sprouts on the side. There was ham in the Brussels sprouts! Yummmmm! I told all my friends in the area about this place!
Please take the time to check out this incredibly cozy and delectable place! Do it now!! You won't be sorry.
Jeffrey
Decided to check it out and was very pleasantly surprised. The portions are small for what you pay but the quality definitely makes up for it, had their in house ginger ale as well and man was it good! Solid drink selection too. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a small fun yummy place to stop in. Good for a date or getting together with 1-4 people, seating is a little tight so get a reservation beforehand if you have more than 2!
K S
This place is great! Tucked away down a Linden Hills side street near Lake Harriet, hidden behind a non-descript storefront lies some of the best food in the city, served by smiling, attentive, genuine, authentic wait staff. The portions may be smaller than desired, but the deep, full rich flavors more than make up the difference. Try the home-made ginger beer and the beet salad, paired with the Brussel sprouts. Finish the meal with anything on the dessert menu; every option is decedent and lively.
Noah Hovland
Amazing atmosphere and food! Certainly on the pricier side, but the service is exceptional and the food quite tasty.
I love the quaint feel of this place. Maybe 20 tables or less. Reminds me of some of the smaller places I've visited in Paris or London.
Johan Podlewski
Great place for a quaint brunch getaway! When you walk in it looks like you stumbled upon a hidden gem :) the food is delicious, but it seems to be missing something... With the incredible plating and small portions you expect it to be at another level. But definitely recommended for a unique experience!
Brian Huilman
I had a fantastic Reuben sandwich and a spinach and bacon salad that was just amazing! The staff was great, very attentive and kind. The atmosphere was cozy and warm. I'll definitely be going back!
Joy Maxfield
8/25/2019. We ate there last night. There were four of us. All tables were filled. There were three tables of families with small children; all screaming, crying and jabbering away, making it impossible to have a conversation. Why, oh why, do young families think it's OK to take noisy children, who do not know how to behave, into restaurants for adults. How completely inconsiderate of other diners. Having said that, the food and service in this restaurant is "off the charts" marvelous. Someone really knows how to put delicious food together in their kitchen. Sad, but we will not be back again. Enough said.
Kyle Davies
Excellent spot for a casual and tasty lunch for those seeking something more than the usual fare. Hospitality and service was excellent - the children's toy box was a lovely touch (and one every restaurant should nick). The food was appropriately portioned, perhaps the beet salad could have been described better in the menu as it was just beets (tasted great) and therefore was a bit of a surprise on its arrival. The gazpacho with strawberries and chillis was divine - fresh and complexity of flavour. I find the other comments about price surprising as my entire party left discussing how reasonable it was (perhaps a lunch menu thing) and I was incredibly pleased by the pricing on the kids menu, especially as the fish sandwich was excellent - I would have happily eaten it myself . It's nice for once not to be extorted for a kids meal :)

I've dined all over the globe, and Tilia continues to be one of my absolute all-time favorites. Tucked away off the beaten path, the atmosphere is cozy, and intimate. Even though they don't take reservations, this place is well worth the wait. The green pea scampi, and green pea soup when available are an absolute must. I've made a habit of ordering one of each thing on the whole menu to share between my table, and I highly recommend doing the same. You'll quickly see why I've yet to be disappointed, and will be coming back as often as possible. The rotating beer list is also top notch, also a great spot for brunch. What Steven Brown & company have done with Tilia shows that he is an absolute culinary, and restaurateur genius.
Zack Johnson
Beautiful secluded eatery. It's low lighting and quiet charm has a great effect on getting to know that special someone you might be inviting here. Their menu has delightful American classics as well as some creative exotic dishes. Highly recommended for a first date impression.
Dan Cannon
Phenomenal atmosphere. Looks like authentic 1930's style interior. I've never had to wait more than 5-10 min for a table if you arrive before 11. Menu is simple but delicious. Really great food. Definitely great date place.

To say dining at this quaint establishment was anything less than extraordinary would be a misguided attempt by a person that hates life. I would say the staff went out of their way to make sure our experience was amazing. However they acted as if doing this was nothing out of the ordinary. I have paid much more for much less attention at larger restaurants in Mn. If you like great food and amazing service walk into Tilia. You will enjoy and your taste buds will be awakened.
Cory Gleason
Went there for my wife's birthday. Great atmosphere and wonderful service. Everything was wonderful and we weren't 5 mins away before I already wanted to go back. I will be coming back.
Cathy Schlegel
The flat bread crust was not crisp at all, in fact it was a bit soggy. The spinach salad was really nice as were the scallops. The banana dessert was a mushy banana glop on a bland cookie with marshmallow on top. I saw chocolate cake in there but didn't taste it.
Tracy Reese
Brunch or dinner. Always good! Not too fussy, but with a twist, is how I would describe the offerings. Suitable for kids, grandparents and foodies alike! (The fries are perfectly thin slices of heaven. My husband gets them with brunch and he isn't a "fry guy")
Alice McMahon
Cute place in a great neighborhood. I had a lobster bisque soup special on an early April night during a blizzard. The soup hit the spot, but the fries would have been brilliant if they were crisped a bit more. Will come again!
bethany kelly
Lovely little place. The open kitchen and big bar give it a great vibe. We enjoyed coffees and fries as a starter to our meals. Half our group got the fish taco torta (which is NOT really a taco, it's a torta, so a fish sandwich with taco-ey toppings) and loved them. I got the shrimp and "grits", which was a shrimp bisque with polenta and shrimp, and it was great. Too full to try the donuts...
Hector Salas
I will come back. I came because someone said they had a great Cuban sandwich but not on the menu. Regardless I did not believe in coincidence so I ate and was blown away. Service was amazing considering I came for something else … yet they made a suggestion the rest was history.
Roshan Rajkumar
A wonderful dinner starting with fab french fries for the table. Main courses including the Tilia cheeseburger and turkey burgers, which did not disappoint with plenty of taste, proper temps, and solid condiments. Another entree was the seared sea scallops - so tasty but only two on the plate. Brussel sprouts and fingerling potatoes were fab add ons. Finishes the meal with the chocolate moose tort, which was fab. The pot de creme of butterscotch was a bit sour. Great meal. Amazing server and support staff. But make a reservation weeks out.

I wish I lived close enough to eat here daily. The menu is always superb, the staff is perfectly attentive, and the atmosphere is cozy. I have been here with small kiddos (they have great toy boxes for the littles), girlfriends, and on dates with my husband. I have left each time feeling spoiled by the great food and the staff.
Christina Knudson
We had an incredible experience at Tilia. The best dish was the pork belly because of all the flavors (sweet, tangy, spicy) and textures (soft, crunchy). The amount of thought and TLC that went into these dishes is absolutely obvious. The food is incredible.
Catrina Rued
I stopped in for brunch with my three old son on a Sunday afternoon. We were seated immediately and my son was given a small toy box filled with little toys to play with while waiting (cute idea). It kept us busy. The menu was small, which I appreciated. My son ordered french toast for $5. He was served two average sized bread slices with butter and syrup. It came with nothing else. The french toast were golden brown and plump, however, this would not have been enough food for an older child. I ordered the fish taco torta for $13. The fish was breaded and fried about 4oz., and when I bit into it, it was juicy. It was topped with a crunchy slaw, cilantro and lime juice. The flavors melted together well and it was the perfect bite on a warm Sunday afternoon. No additional salt & pepper were needed thankfully as the tables were absent of this condiment anyhow. I was disappointed with the bread because it was served on a hamburger bun instead of a telera or bolillo roll like a traditional torta. The food we ate was good, but I do not think it was worth the amount of money. We are talking about a fish sandwich for $13; really?! It came with no side; just a sandwich. Six dollars; okay but not $13. This would not be enough food for a man of any size. I left barely satiated.
The staff were friendly. It was clean. Lukewarm water on the tables. I give this place three stars overall as it just was not worth the money spent for the amount and quality of food.
Timothy McFadden
Nice summer afternoon spot. Food and service were great. Cocktails and beer pretty decent. Would definitely come here again, and again.
Adam Skordahl
Tilia is a pretty straightforward Linden Hills restaurant. The food is usually good and they have a large menu for such a small restaurant. The prices are also respectable. The issue is that the restaurant is really small so if you come during a busy time you will probably be sitting right next to someone you don't know and overhearing their conversation.
Mark McClure
Tilia's is incredibly good upscale American food. Brunch, lunch and dinner are all wonderful and it's even possible to order half sizes of certain items. Beer and wine selections go deep as well. This is probably one of the best restaurants in the metro.
Ben Melrose
Perfect dinner, such unique flavors, and unbelievable service. I also loved the cozy environment
Noelle Gonzalez
Interesting experience all around. Uncommon, but really good wine selection. Unique but approachable dishes. It is a smaller space but the atmosphere is rustic/elegant without trying too hard. Also had the best chai frother. Best for small groups.
Shafina Shehnaz
The quintessential neighborhood restaurant, Tilia is friendly and casual but its food packs a sophisticated punch. Look for fresh, seasonal ingredients handled with a deft hand and 20+ craft beers on tap. They just started a cocktail program as well. Make time to go - it's a gem!
Allison Coyle
The atmosphere is laid back and relaxing, and food is delicious. As much the food was great it is far over priced for the small entree's that are not accompanied with sides. Tilia is a nice example of fine dining, but takes the opportunity to price gouge.
Pam Anderson
The place has gotten a bit tired and dated. The service was great but food was less than stellar. Our table was sticky (could barely wrench my wine glass off of it) and the noise level was quite high.
Reagan Alexander
we went for dinner and the experience was amazing. we had the best waitress.. if management is seeing this please give Sadie a raise!! she was so down to earth and friendly and so helpful with the menu. all around great service. cute place. great food. so good i’m breaking my “dont review on google” code.
Corey Poland
Went for a Saturday morning brunch in a party of 9, got right in around noon. Service was excellent. Three of us ordered the Chilequiles. They were awesome. All of the staff are beautiful. Very European atmosphere.
Shahbaz Shah
I'm not a wine guy or a beer guy. This post will not speak to those parts of the menu. I'm a food guy. Oh, That Rueben is worth every bite. Also, I recommend ordering double sauce on the side (worth the extra cost). It's cooked just right and melts in your mouth. Also, they use dark rye bread which adds richness of the texture of meat, cheese and sauerkraut.
Next time I will try the pasta which I hear is on point. Thanks Lauren, Meghan, Mike for taking care of me on a Sunday night!

With almost 250 reviews, I know I am just throwing another twig on the bonfire of glowing reviews, but brunch at Tilia is the real deal. Thank you my Local Guide bretheran for putting this magnificent little bistro on my radar during a recent jaunt to the Twin Cities. I am counting the days until my next visit.
With one minor exception, my brunch at Tilia was a magical experience. The one negative was the parking situation. To put it bluntly, it blows major chunkage. After leaving the restaurant, I found a $40 parking ticket on my windshield, but my meal left me in such a blissful state that it really didn't bother me too much.
Now on to the good stuff:
* Our server was three kinds of wonderful: helpful, funny and attentive. She gladly volunteered suggestion on a menu chock full of enticing options, kept an eagle eye on beverage levels and just made the overall experience awesome in every way. The fact that she talked us into getting the transcendent glazed brioche doughnut earns her best in class status.
* I adored the intimate interior of Tilia. We sat in a booth between the bar and the open kitchen, so I watched the efficient staff manage both facets of the operation during the busy brunch service. Despite a full house, our table had no problem speaking to one another at conversational levels.
* While I enjoyed the doughnut holes filled with smoked maple cream and powdered sugar, the glazed kefir lime & coconut brioche doughnuts were truly sublime. I've tried many a doughnut in my day and I dare say this specimen is the best doughnut to ever cross my lips. It's been two months since my visit to Tilia and I still reminisce about the incredible texture and nuanced flavors of this pastry.
* My chilequiles with poached eggs were a symphony of flavors (carnitas roasted pork, charred sweet corn, avocado, salsa verde & queso fresco) all working together to make a harmonized dish.
* The same can be said for my daughter's omelet - perfectly composed (a combination of brie cheese, cauliflower and duck confit) and masterfully executed.
* The kitchen really demonstrated its mastery by transforming the humble potato into the magnificent smattered hash browns. They were seasoned perfectly and had wonderfully crisp outer crust to go with a creamy interior.
I'm running out of superlatives, so it's probably time for me to wrap up this review with some simple advice.
Go.
Eat.
Be Happy.
Robert Salazar
Ok, the bar has been set. This is my jam, right here. Mouth-watering, amazing cuisine served within a sexy, quaint neighborhood joint. Tilia is where you go to celebrate, to impress your significant other, to hang with friends, to escape and fall in love. And, whatever you do, try the beet salad. So delicious . . .
Matthew Carper
Enjoyed the pan roasted cauliflower (memorable), cacio e pepe (probably will pass next time) and fries (will order again). Surprised that they had run out of a couple of beers we wanted to order. But we did get personal service from Steven Brown, still very happy with and love Tilia.
Mike Peterson
Got there around 7:30 on a Monday night and there was a bit of a wait, but after a glass of wine we were promptly seated.
I started off with sea scallops that were great. I followed that with the chicken/malt-o-meal (yes, the kind you ate as a kid) entree'. The malt-o-meal was used as the bed for the chicken and actually worked quite well, it's a change-up from what could have been polenta I was told. This dish was just introduced as part of their Fall menu. Overall I thought it was very good, the chicken itself could have been a bit more greasy for my taste though. I will be back for sure.
Steve K
One of these days I'll try an entree, but we love to have multiple small plates here. Tonight was Butternut squash soup with flatbread, shrimp scampi and steamed bun with pho broth, brussel sprouts with walnuts (and I think pork belly), really great. Service was really good, our server seemed genuinely interested in us having a great dining experience. Also, great beer and wine list
Meshach Weber
Simply brilliant. One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. Unassuming and approachable. Brilliant food. Great wines and beers. Cozy and tasteful interior. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff.
Jesse Niemand
Good food, small place, but if there is a wait there is lots to do in the area to keep you occupied. The biggest stand out to me was the toybox my child received when we sat down, It was filled with a coloring book, crayons, finger puppets, and animals. I guess it makes sense, they must get a lot of family traffic with the proximity of The Wild Rumpus and Creative Kids Stuff.
Marc Asch
The brunch was excellent. Omelet with veggies and candied sage leaf on top. Shrimp toastie with soft scrambled eggs, shrimp, kin che and hollandaise sauce. Home made donut complete with hole was extremely tasty. Good coffee.
Shawn Sieben
We sat at the bar attached to the kitchen area, which I now believe is the best spot in the place. Get to smell everything being made and watch the excellent cooks having fun at their skill. Food was delicious, wasn't insanely pricey, and had a great time. Will go again soon.
Matthew Egger
I’ve eaten at Tilia quite frequently over the past several years and have never had a disappointing experience. The food is always solid, the staff are great without exception, and the interior decor is great to boot. I’ll most definitely be back soon!
Jeovanny Alvarez
Excellent decór! Very picturesque! The food is delicious. I recommend the korean bbq and sausage/pepperoni pizzas. Make sure you make a reservation. Space is definitely limited. The staff is very friendly and excellent all around.
Gus Fuguitt
Amazing food, great decor and service, excellent chefs. Try the omelette and hashbrowns!
Stephanie Simms
Had a really tasty brunch. There was a wait when we got there around 10 but it emptied out pretty quickly after we were seated. There were a ton of kids-they seem to be pretty accomodating. Servers were super friendly. Everything we had was top notch- cinnamon french toast was fluffy and had a big glob of citrus cream cheese and just a hint of maple syrup. Reuben eggs benedict were rich and salty with the oozy poached egg perched on top. The highlight might have been the fish torta. It was crispy with a perfect toasty bun and creamy slaw. That was all balanced by a tart tomato lime pico that balanced the sandwich perfectly.
Dryw Doran
This place has a fun, sophisticated atmosphere, though it is a little small. The service is excellent, the food is delicious, and the drinks are great. Menu is just a wee bit pricier than the food is yummy, but it's definitely worth a try. Parking is a little difficult though, just fyi.
Rob Edinger
Very enjoyable atmosphere for a birthday celebration with great friends. I little noisy but cozy. Good service. Excellent food. Good drink selection.
Eric H
Best meal I had in a long time. Try the pork chop. It's excellent! Great service.
Siri Hustad
9:30 am Sunday Brunch - spectacular! The brioche doughnuts we BEAUTIFUL. All three of us had a different dish. Omelet with salmon - the pickeled mustad seeds was Lovely. Ruben Benedict was AMAZING, the tostada carnitas was full of flavors. We will be back!!
Parker Sayles
We went for brunch. Tilia's had decent food and atmosphere (a bit hectic), but the true standout of our visit was the hostess (the cute red head). She was a wonderful and charming conversatinalist. More impressive still, she also anticipated our ever need. I kid you not, it was as if she could read our minds. She was clearly in a league of her own. Frankly, I am shocked she wasn't a server (she certianly treated us much better than our server did). Tilias brunch would have been a 3 star affair, had it not been for the cute red headed host!
Ian Collis
A great little restaurant with a diverse menu. The servers are very kind and helpful. The interior is a little tight, but still comfortable. The prices are a little on the higher side, but well worth it.
Peter Schilling
Tilia is amazing. Went for a late night nosh, enjoyed the chicken thighs and the best fries in town (I've eaten 'em everywhere, and these are by far the best), and lost my mind when I saw they had Sunner Kolsch beer, which might literally be the best of that variety in the world (and I thought it was only available in Germany.)
Food aside, what makes Tilia so special is its atmosphere. The place reminded me of a restaurant in New York, and by that I mean one that seems as if it were charged with possibility. Friends and neighbors were there in abundance, filling the place late on a Tuesday night. The wait staff was friendly, efficient, and their joy at being in this fabulous restaurant was palpable.
Is Tilia the best restaurant in town? I haven't been to every restaurant, so I cannot say. What I can say is that it is my favorite restaurant, and I can't wait to get back.
nick amundson
a quintessential south Minneapolis, chef-driven restaurant with seasonal menu and a rotating beer list. cozy and intimate, casual yet urbane. no reservations accepted but worth the wait indeed
Ethan Gilmore
We have been looking for a Brunch spot since The Strip Club in STP closed. I think we may have found our new spot. Thank you Megan for your awesome service and accommodating our kid's.
Andrew Greeman
I have eaten here several times and each it has been more impressive than the time before. The food, wait staff, and ambiance make this one of my favorite places to eat in the cities.
Brent Carlson
Get here early (a bit before 5pm) or be prepared to wait until the tables turn. The food is definitely worth it wait or not, and the prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the food. You can't go wrong with the duck. Hard surfaces and an open kitchen = loud; not a place to go if you want a quiet conversation but definitely come for the food!
Ailo Kemi Gjerpe
A more kid friendly restaurant is hard to find!
Tilia is trying to be a european style restaurant and for the most part pulls it off!
The food is simple and tasty and the staff is doing their ultimate best to give you a really nice dining experience.
The price might be higher than a normal american restaurant, but again this is so much better than american dining (no offence).
Mary Manuel
Great ambiance, excellent food and wonderful wait staff. I ordered the Wagyu cheeseburger. The only disappointment was that I did not realize it would be a la carte. I would go again but make more careful selections.
Matt Kleis
Nice attentive staff. The burger & the bundt cake I had for dessert were great! If crowded, the place is loud and talking becomes challenging. But I'd certainly go back.
Jake Dhillon
Arrived here from CA a year ago, and did restaurant week in Minneapolis, been to many eateries, and this is now in our top 3. Just go on an off night to avoid the crowds like we did on a Tuesday. The food was fabulous, service impeccable, and ambience spot on. Would highly recommend.
Matt Cohen
Every chef and bartender I know loves this place. The food is very tasty and the prices quite reasonable for what you get. I've almost always gone to Tilia for breakfast/brunch.
Ivette Flores
Absolutely AMAZING! Romantic atmosphere and the most delicious food in the twin cities!
Jessica Jones
We went for dinner & came back in the morning for brunch. It was amazing. I love the restaurant and the neighborhood. I have even started searching for real estate in the area due to our visit. Extraordinary service, extraordinary food, extraordinary restaurant.
Kayla Kramer
Tilia is a wonderful neighborhood spot in Linden Hills. Warm atmosphere, delicious eats, never leave disappointed. I recommend the burger and a brew!
Dan White
Love this place! We especially like to sit at the kitchen counter smelling and watching the meals prepared. Good craft beers and wines. Very good service.
sarah Reasoner
Amazing little spot. Vegan and the chef prepared a special vegan dish extra just for us. They have a few vegan options already on the menu but that was super special. Thank you
Camille Benoit
This spot reminds me of a San Francisco-style "neighborhood bistro"... Quaint, friendly, and the most delicious food! So glad they are just up the street! Love this place!
Kayla Castro
Great restaurant. Amazing food and service! Small and busy - recommend making reservations. Highly recommend brunch, but parking is tough!
I C
Great atmosphere but parking is sometimes difficult. I love their brunch and it is a nice place if you want to enjoy some nicely prepared American food. Will recommend it.
Dan Larsen
Nice, small neighborhood spot. Food and service were pretty good, but my friend and I both tried two different wines by the glass, and they were undistinguished at best.
Nabanita Dutta
Awesome food and wine. It's really challenging to get a table there, especially over the weekends. Unfortunately they don't accept reservations. My favorite dinner place.
Brent Timm
Incredible brunch! Burger was average. Menu is robust with a lot of seasonal variety. Highly recommended!
Nick Green
Had the chilaquiles, and they were an elevated combination of huevos rancheros and nachos, so damn good. Service was great too
Southivong Khamvongsa
Soup was very good . dinner was ok . salad was ok it was like they dump a whole bag of lettuce on the plate with a little dressing and nothing else on it . very expensive for a plate of lettuce. Service is good though. Nice cozy place.
Heather Hubert
What a wonderful experience! Amazing service and atmosphere. Would definitely visit again
Barbara Nickel (Babs)

Lauren Kinnee
Tilia is always a neighborhood favorite (and really a Minneapolis favorite) but I think they have updated their menu and everything was fabulous! The caico pepe and the orichette were awesome and 5he tres leches was to die for.
Patrick

Daniel Nelson
Awesome food. Ruben Benedict is delicious. Cool atmosphere. Bartender Ben was amazing! Will be back.
Lucas stone
Best Rueben in town....but the menu offers high end dining as well. Same owner as St. Genevieve, which I believe is my now favorite "fancy" dining. Tilia rocks the casbah.
Matt Kalan
Each dish was well done and good service
Sam Rojas
Great brunch. Visiting daughter at U from LA and was blown away by the breakfast. Good times, great atmosphere and staff. Will make this a standard during any trips out to MPLS.
Jim Simon
We had brunch, a delightful twist on the typical brunch menu. I had french toast and a spinach salad. Perfect combination.
Dennis Fisher
Five stars. We were lucky. We just wandered in after getting off the plane from Seattle. It's as good as any food I've ever had anywhere.
Mingmo L
Very delicious food even though there aren't too many choices. The staff is friendly and upbeat and the beers are hearty.
Ben
The food is amazing here. I love the super cozy atmosphere and the wonderful waitstaff. It is such a pleasure to dine here.
John Sulciner
Wonderful culinarily experience, professional staff, cozy atmosphere, al around great experience.
Katharine Porter
Best brunch in Mpls. The slow poached eggs are amazing, service is always on point, and the mimosas are just the right mix of oj and bubbles.
Taylor P.
Cozy and charming atmosphere, with good food. We were a little sad that the plate of donuts we ordered had a single donut and a single donut hole, touche.
Shannon Royer
Phenomenal. All courses were flavorful and lovely. Service was amazing. Please visit this place! It will not disappoint!
Chase Williams
Everything I've eaten here has been amazing. It's another moderately expensive, foodie spot, but dang it guys, you can't help who you fall in love with.
CJ Savage
Solid food, and a significant wine and beer selection. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and more than willing to let you taste until you find the right drink.
Martin Lipschultz
Wagyu cheeseburger takes the pain from loss of turkey burger from menu. Reuben sandwich was also a worthy substitute. Megan makes children especially welcome.
Alexander Lemons
So they don't take reservations. So most likely you will have to wait. Just know that going into it. Good and service was great. Good customer to staff ratio. Duck was excellent.
Manjusha Keni
Absolutely divine. Lovely atmosphere, fantastic food, engaging staff. Thank you for a wonderful brunch
Nicholas Folkerts
Far and away the best food and service I have had yet in Minneapolis bar none. A must visit where the duck is to die for and the butterscotch poi du creme could not have been more perfect

Ani Gholkar
The a-la-carte options were plenty. Halibut dish was very good..

Really awesome food served in a dimly lit and cozy space. The portions are on the lighter side, however, especially for the price.
Mike McComas
Exceptional atmosphere, food and staff in beautiful Linden Hills Neighborhood. What more could one ask for?
Richard Hewitt
I'm not sure which is better... the food or the ambiance. Such a nice little neighborhood place that is equally good for a business dinner, date, or even just a pint.
Ameet Kamath
Chef Scott Arnold's omelettes on the weekend are mesmerizing. It's always a treat to eat here. Hip and bougie vibe too. YAS.
