Reviews of The Local - Minneapolis
Elahe Javadi
Positives: Affordable, delicious - i liked my steak & vegetable pie. My friend liked her baked Mac & Cheese, and the baked pretzel was tasty. The kids' tray was nicely prepared. The prices in general were affordable. The outside seating area was very nice.
Negatives: kids Mac & Cheese was a waste of money, barely had any cheese. As a parent I expect restaurants to prepare kids meals at the same quality level as the grown-up version of it.
Beware: they add an 18% tip automatically.

We almost didn't eat here but I am glad we gave it a try!
Atmosphere was nice just like typical Irish pub. Even though Google reviews were great for this place, I didn't expect too much about the quality of food and I was so wrong.
We ordered Mac&cheese, pot roast and pub curry and every single menu we ordered were delicious!
I also ordered a glass of Guiness and shared with my husband and we both loved it so much.
I highly recommend this place, if you don't know where to go in downtown of Minneapolis. Great place that we never expected to find!
Michael Bédard
A good black velvet, in a typical decor. The staff was so nice! The food was great. A great stop!
Bess Valdez
Great environment, service and food! The pot pie was great! And the cheese cake was my absolute favorite!

Working with Andrew, the marketing coordinator at Cara Pubs has been an amazing experience. Coordinating with our organization, to set up events, run drink specials, and organize the pub for the most efficient use. We have been able to bring in 50+ members weekly for soccer events/viewings. So excited for The Local to be up and running, and our direct partner. Andrew has been essential to our success throughout this season. Looking forward to continuing and building this relationship.

We go to the local every time we are in Minneapolis. The food is always great! The servers are great. I love the details in the little rooms they have. Very cool looking place. Will continue visiting whenever we are in town!
Matthew Amundson
The food was good. The design of the place is absolutely gorgeous. I really liked the servers we came in contact with. However…this place was very busy and there were very very few staff on hand, so we had to search for help. On top of that, the app system to order food and drinks did not properly take our order, so staff were confused (although super accommodating); that needs to change. Lastly, it was just so loud in there—deafening tv volume over and above the echoes of the people there. Not a good place to have a conversation, despite the space looking like it accommodates all thanks to the little tables and coves. I really want to give this place a 5 because it is so beautiful and in a great location, but they need to get staffing and service right.

This place is very cool and the food was great! We went for a work dinner and enjoyed some appetizers and drinks before our main mea. We sat in a cool little booth that gave our party a bit of intimacy. It made the experience and experience and not just another restaurant.
Everyone loved their meals and clear their plates. Only thing they should improve on is getting more unique alcohol (vodkas and gins like Monkey 47) since they have such unique whiskey offerings.
I would def go back during my next visit!
PJ Johnson
Great menu of Irish staples made from scratch! Also an equally impressive drink and beer selection! Our waitress was very friendly and welcoming and had some great recommendations for what to get. Lastly, I can not get over how beautiful all the old woodwork and architecture was in the restaurant. Cheers!

This was a pretty awesome bar with impressive food.
The wait was super short. We had enough time to walk around the huge inside.
The food was pretty delicious. The pretzels are a must try, but the spicy mustard is SPICY! The chicken in the Cesar salad was a bit tough.
Beer options were good. We love trying local beers when we are in a new town, and there were plenty of those.
Great service 👌🏼

One of my favorite bars in Minneapolis. It has a nice authentic pub feel and a great menu as well. I really like the fried calamari and veggie appetizer. My favorite drink is their in house classic “the big ginger” which is tasty but can be a bit dangerous as well! Highly recommend stopping if you’re around Nicollet Mall.
Zach Marino
We came here for a business outing. We had a few apps, mixture of fish and chips, Bison Burger, Hamburger, Mac and cheese w/chicken, Steak salad and Pot pie.
Mac N cheese: Very flavorful but a little dry.
Hamburger: good flavor and did not need bun.
Steak Salad: The steak was tasty and salad was good. There is sweet potato bits in there, FYI:)
Fish N Chips: Fish was tasty! The “chips” were larger steak fries, and tarter sauce amazing!
Pot pie: Really good. Had an interesting spice that made it curry like but tasted great!
Bison Burger: I wasn’t super impressed. Not great taste. Wouldn’t recommend.
Overall, this is a really cool atmosphere, creative, and intimate. It does feel a bit squished in some table sections and narrow walk ways.
I would say you need to give it a shot though!
Noah Gottlieb
Laid back vibe with awesome wood working throughout. The staff was fun, friendly and helpful. The food was great, we'll be back!
JC Cross
Upscale Irish pub with an alluring ambiance and excellent food.
Staff were very thoughtful, although the waitress didn’t fit that description as much. They were also out of whole grain buns at the time, which made it more difficult to find a healthier menu option.
Nick Dempers
What a fantastic Irish pub/restaurant. Great selection of beers and the food was excellent. I can specifically recommend the providence burger. The burger patty is filled with cheese and pulled brisket, it is the best burger that I have had in America.
Victor Arzapalo
Pool and beers.
It was a night out with some friends we had the fish and chips, calamari and the poutine to share and some Guinness. The place is very nice I liked the decoration and the atmosphere. The staff was always friendly and the pool table upstairs was free so we play a bit. We really liked the place and the prices were ok. We we’ll define go back it’s a great place.
Fernando Molano
I totally loved this place. You can sit inside but I did it outside cause it’s summer and you wanna take advantage of the wind, sun and view.
Staff is really nice. It can take a little longer for you to order and get your food since they’re serving always inside and outside so there’s a lot of people but it totally worth the waiting cause food is amazing. Hands down 🙌
Great presentation, amazing taste.
You can also get drinks, not only beers but like wine, whiskey, champagne etc etc.
Different dishes from hamburgers to something more elegant like the one on my photo.
Not expensive at all.
Definitely recommended!
Dan B
I love the decor, pretty authentic Irish pub (in my minds eye) good beer, drink and food selections. Great lunch spot during the week. The baked cheddar soup is divine.

Our waiter was very nice, and so was the rest of the staff. But the food was underwhelming. My wife got the steak and mushroom pie. Hers was good, but nothing gourmet considering the price.
Mine, however, was bad. I got the corned beef and cabbage dinner. It was the worst corned beef I've ever had. Normally there is some fat on the outside, but the meat is otherwise fat free and easy to pull apart. There should be a lot more good and edible meat compared to fat in the portion served. What I got was almost entirely fat. What meat there was, it was intertwined with the fat and nearly inedible, especially if you're like me and hate the texture of fat and can't eat it. Why the chef thought those chunks of corned beef were suitable to send out is beyond me. On top of that, they added a parsley sauce over everything. Not that it tasted bad, but it just didn't go well with the corned beef. Corned beef doesn't need any additional sauces, it's already full of flavor. Plus, the white sauce made it even harder for me to dissect the intertwined fat from any morsels of good meat. The veggies were good, though.
I mentioned the poor quality of the meat, of which I didn't eat much of it, and the staff was very courteous about it and took my meal off the bill. So, considering how professional they were, I'd go back. I wouldn't discount this restaurant based off of one dish. There are other things on the menu that look delicious.

I’ve been here twice and got the same thing both times. The vegetarian Juicy Lucy, the best veggie burger I’ve had in the twin cities! The prices are very reasonable and are worth going for date night!!!
Jeff Collier
Food and atmosphere were good. Appeared to be some confusion with us ordering with the qr code and service was friendly but not great. Never received some things like extra silverware or a glass for a beer that were requested. We also ordered an iced tea at the beginning, had to ask for it later, didn't receive it until our food was almost gone, and were still charged full price for it.
BAYOWORLD
Soooooo I just had the Veggie Lucy Burger and it is one of the best veggie burgers I’ve had in awhile!
I’ve never had a “Juicy Lucy” Veggie burger before!!!!
The bun is topped with a delicious aioli and the patty itself was stuffed with Harvarti cheese and it was “meaty” and crispy and I know it’s not conventional but I added the candied bacon on top...which brought it to the next level.... if your not an actual vegetarian I would add the bacon for a dining win!
I will def be back to try some other options on the menu!
ALSO, Good French fries are always a must with any sandwich....they have good fries!
Side note the vibes and staff working were all super chill which is always a plus when the food speaks for itself!
Giridhar Bolla
It's ok place to go alone. veggie burger I ate was crispy but not tasty. The soup was very good. The icecream sundae was normal.
Sun Pal
An okay "Irish" place in Downtown Minneapolis that offers a variety of pints, soccer games and sports of all kinds. The outdoor seating is great when the weather permits, though service suffers when the place gets slightly busy (both outside and inside). Service is friendly enough and the pints are reasonably well poured. Food is not that impressive. Two recent trips had us try the calamar one evening..which was a generous serving (chewy and they supposedly came with veggies.. Which were missing), another try at lunch resulted in the attempted consumption of a very dry and unflavorful potroast sandwich and flabby fries. The walleye sandwich was quite good with perfectly fried fish, again with the same flabby fries. Overall okay to swing by if you are craving a pint, but I would head across the street for a better experience.
Daniel Page
A very quiet night as I managed to be here on a -21d Fahrenheit evening. Nonetheless the service was good, the tomato basil soup seemed to be a bit heavy on the pepper, the salmon only slightly overcooked for my taste, the creative butternut squash risotto was prepared very well.
Dessert was a very nice complement to the dinner, an Irish cream cheesecake.
Steve Ingalsbe
The Local is a great place to grab a pint and meal. I usually get the Fish and Chips with a Guinness. The service is speedy and the staff is friendly. During the warmer months you can sit at an outside table on Nicolette Mall and watch the people. It's even open until 2am for late night snacks!
Justin Long
I needed a quick place for lunch and The Local was a good choice. Service was very fast and the lunch menu was very reasonable. I really have no complaints about my experience.
Henry Brown
Ate here twice while visiting Minneapolis for a week, once indoors and once outdoors on the patio. Both were great! Service was nice and quick, food was tasty and there were lots of Minnesota beers on the menu. Cool atmosphere indoors. 10 minute walk to Target Field.
Tim Myers
Solid Irish bar. The cheese curds were delicious. Our sever was friendly and helpful.
apurva vadapurkar
This is my favorite place to hang out in downtown. The food is delicious especially the veggie Lucy burger which has a vegetarian friendly patty and the punjab glory which has its own level of comfort with rice and chickpea curry with lot of veggies. Refreshing cocktails along with a late night menu. And not to forget they serve the yummiest fries in town.😊
David Wilson
Great pub experience. Pot roast was a little dry but really love the decor.
Katie Maxwell
We loved this Irish restaurant! All of the food that we tried (fish and chips, meatloaf sandwich, corned beef, the mac, pot pie..) was absolutely delicious! The restaurant itself was very beautiful and unique. If we are in the area again we will be stopping by!
j d
Great place for great food and drinks that holds a ton of people. Great for small or large groups with outdoor seating. AWESOME staff!!!
Kari Dorsher
Great food and drinks! Our whole group loved their food - fish & chips, pretzel apps, seafood chowder and club sandwich. Atmosphere is pub like and cozy.
Susan Bedker
This place was super fun, but the waiter was a little snooty. I went with a group of 20-25 and we sat in the area with the high tops, bat area. when he asked if he we were eating and we said we were just the he got snooty. Not sure because we were one of two groups and a few other people, was basically dead. besides that it was great, we all really appreciated the beautiful woodwork, wood bar, and tables.
Lisa L.
Solid choice and great atmosphere and service. Loved my lunch
Yanina Ribeira
Love the place and the art that they have with the newspaper 🗞… the beer that the waitress recommended us was really good 😊 👍 …
Jessica B
Delicious food and great service. Good flavorful, hearty vegetarian options. Perfect outdoor summer seating.
Axel Stiven Ruiz Jimenez
Super nice place, the servers are so friendly, good food and drinks.
Noah Manning
Service and food were phenomenal. Jordan runs a tight ship! We will be back!
Natasha
Delicious tomatoe-basil soup & reuben sandwich - perfect spot for lunch.
Patrick Hartel
Always a go-to when in Minneapolis. Great oub food and beer with friendly wait staff.
Steve Berns
Good staff. Good food. For all of the windows, the space is very dark and set up kind of weird for me, with lots of little spaces (snugs). I wish it was more open. Great patio.
Ron D
Meal was sub standard compared to the usual Local quality. But it was a snowy night, maybe short handed? The salmon was dry. But all else was good.
Josue Barbosa
Great food. Excellent beverages - ginger whiskey is a must. Sit on the patio and watch the world go by.
Joel Weixel
Great food, friendly service, nice environment.
Louisa Potter
Solid food, I come here often. I will keep coming back as well!
JJ
Awesome pub! Kilkenny on draft! Service was fast and accurate. Went on a Monday night and it was pretty empty. Good atmosphere and felt like a proper pub.
Daniel Larson
Solid place for lunch, the "Wee Lunch" is great, $9 and you get a half sandwich and choice of side and salad. The big gingers are tasty as well.
Lin Brown
Cool decor inside and food and server was great.
Hanahh Eggum
Amazing Salmon Burgers and Veggie Burgers! Incredible homemade soup!
Trisha Baumeler
Wonderful location, great food & fantastic service. A must try in Minneapolis :)
ML Hung
sweet server, great place to chill outdoor.
Keep in mind, is a smokers friendly environment!
SAKSHI GOPAL
The lunch menu is perfect for a quick bite with a non alcoholic drink.
Lizbeth de Padua
Stopped by mid-afternoon for a snack. Excellent cheesecake! Very helpful, friendly staff!
Hannah Dégallier
Top 5 places in MSP for comfort food and a friendly atmosphere. They always have the soccer games on at all times of day and wonderful deals to go with.
Ty Bowers
Delicious burger and wonderful service. The drinks were wonderful as well. Good mix and great atmosphere.
Dale Wychers
Awsome atmosphere and the food was great.
Dave Anderson
Service was below average at best. I get it's hard to hire staff, but when you wait an hour to get a dessert, that sucks.
Ruth T
First of all, me and two friends went here on a Saturday during a soccer game so the place was packed and loud BUT we were famished and the crowd was mostly around the bar. We were asked whether or not we were here for the game and when the hostess found out we were not, she made sure to take us to a booth away from all the action. Still noisy but better. The waitress was obviously extremely busy but still very friendly and quick to refill our drinks and bring us service. The food came out a bit slower than normal but that’s to be expected when it’s crowded like that. I got the Reuben sandwich and it was delicious! The corned beef had great flavor and texture, definitely one of the best I’ve had. My friends got fish and chips and said it was very good! We wolfed our food down in no time. Will come again for sure but avoid it when there’s a soccer game.
Burt Perkins
Great ambiance and quick service. Limited menu from 10 pm until close. The Veggie Lucy burger was amazing as were the bacon tots. Definitely worth a visit. The signature cocktails were very good and large to boot.
Emily Schmeling
Love the atmosphere and great food. Lots of vegan options!
chris mckinney
Excellent food and cocktails. Service was top notch. We had a group of 13 for a birthday pub crawl. They opened up a closed section for us so we could all sit together. Brad was super helpful and an awesome bartender. Recommend the Gouda fries and the barrel aged gin cocktail was superb
Steven Anderson
The atmosphere and food are great! Highly recommend the pot roast and the steak and mushroom pie. The drinks and coffee were made well, but I recommend skipping the desserts. The cheesecake I got was rubbery around the edges and tasted like it came from a prepackaged box. Still worth a stop though.
Kathryn-Ann Cravillion
I absolutely loved it. The decor and ambiance were delightful, with lots of wonderful nooks and crannies. We went with a group of about 12 and were seated in the Boardroom, which was surprisingly protected from the ambient noise of the rest of the establishment. All the food was delicious but I especially loved the apple salad. When told we were celebrating a birthday, our server gave us free dessert - 3 plates with three small desserts each - to share. You probably want a reservation, but well worth it!!!
Erin Nakielski
This is a favorite local Irish Pub. A place to find Futbol matches early in the morning on the Teles, Guinness on tap and great service.
Lisa Prudhomme
WOW! Reservations were made for a party to say goodbye to a beloved colleague. We missed the headcount and way more people showed up than what was originally relayed to The Local. I was so impressed with their staff and the food was absolutely wonderful! Thank you, Wyatt, for accommodating us and our guests. Everyone had a great time and we will return soon!!!
Mason Johnson
Love this place! On top of the great food and great drinks, the service was excellent and the atmosphere is really nice as well. The Baked Artichoke Dip and The Minnesota Burger were both fantastic. A friend got the 2 Gingers Chicken Sandwich and said it was also very good. I would recommend The Big Ginger if you're in the mood for a cocktail. We'll definitely be coming back here next time we're in the cities.
elisabeth oh
Came for lunch and received great service. Multiple servers (there were training some too) offered us refills and sides.
The food was good too -- the plating seemed small but definitely left full! Very impressive lunch specials as well -- you get a main dish, fries and a salad for $11!
Excited to try for Happy Hour as well!
Derek Price
This place is absolutely awesome. Great tap list and bottles, wonderful service, and plenty of nooks and crannies to hang out in after a long day at the office. Most importantly, their chicken shots are phenomenal (if you sign up for their loyalty program, you get one appetizer for free, so use it on the chicken shots).
Ben B
I come to The Local most every time I'm in the MSP area. Great location, cool atmosphere, good food and beer. I especially love the fish and chips. On my most recent visit, everybody enjoyed the creamy hash browns. The service is usually good, though it can get a little crazy during popular soccer matches.
Andrea Thompson
Food is super good! They have the best calamari and their stuffed mushrooms are delicious. Would highly recommend coming here, ask for Betsy, she’s the best waitress! Drinks are strong, good atmosphere and amazing food. Can’t wait to come back
Cory Gleason
Went here before going to a show at the Orpheum. Atmosphere felt cozy and warm as I would want all pub like environments to feel. We had a reservation and we were seated right away. The host and the server were very kind and a delight. They had a great beer selection that we all picked from. I had the fish and chips with walleye which was great. My brother had the pot roast based on the server saying it was the best thing on the menu. This was still an understatement, I'm fairly certain that it was cooked and floated down from on high. Prices are fair and I will be going back there again when I am in the area.
Taylor Bauer
Great cocktails. Food is very good and above standard for bar food.
This spot has a large number of seats right at the bar as well as open tables nearby and some tables with more privacy, which makes it a perfect stop for many different occasions.
Brittany Misuraca
I've been wanting to eat at the Local for quite a while and finally was able to go. It was fantastic! I had the best pot pie ever! The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful. I'll definitely be going back.
UPDATE: the tomato soup is fantastic!!
Matthew Anderson
Absolutely dynamite food!! From the chicken bites to literally every entree, this menu is banging!
Karen Olson
Great atmosphere! Lots of small rooms for a more private experience. Food was very good. The unfortunate part was we found out they ran out of 3 different things that we ordered . Our server, Stephen, more than made up for it. He knew what good customer service means.
Stacy Welle
Super fun environment with little private seating areas all over the place, yet there is plenty of open seating as well. Our food was good. I loved the quinoa salad and the others thought their burger was just good. They have great beers and a long list of wines.
Peter Skepstedt
9/13/14 Attended a wedding reception. Really great. The food was terrific, kabobs, beef, chicken and salmon. The fish was the best. Pulled pork and beef sliders, very good. However, the service was exceptional. Food was served hot and fresh, the bar service was unbelievable. How that staff could keep all the orders accurately was beyond me, but they did it. If I ever need to get married again, this will be my choise.
Gabriella Retzer
This Irish Pub is a fantastic place to eat. Delicious food and a very relaxed environment. I've had dinner here multiple times and the food has always been great as well as the service. Very kind people. Love being able to enjoy great food with friends!
Joel Engelstad
Fun Irish Pub in downtown Minneapolis! The Local offers a good variety of food and drink options. I visited with a group and had a chance to sample all appetizers. They were all delicious! Service was fantastic, keeping pace with our hungry and thirty group. The Local is definitely worth a stop.
Shane Culgan
One of the best fish & chips I've ever had. Great beer and whiskey lists. Bartenders and servers are very friendly. The place is quite big inside, but maintains a cozy, Irish pub feel and vibe.
Raul Cuellar
A must place for great beer, good food, and friendly service in a fun atmosphere
R Bool
Reasonably priced lunch menu with good variety. Friendly and fast service. Great for business and group lunches with private booths. Food is pretty good. My friend tried a Rueben and I tried a walleye sandwich and they we're both pretty good. Would go again if in the downtown area for lunch.
Jon Carlson
May have been the best pot roast I’ve ever eaten. Service was great, beer/whiskey list was very solid. I was in at an off hour, just me and a couple off-duty employees at the bar...made for some pretty entertaining eavesdropping!
Greg Smith
The Local was fantastic! The Place was slammed with Final 4 crowd. Met some very cool locals, drank a couple Irish ales and got a great burger. Service by Jess was awesome despite the crowd. Would love to do it again!
Noel Voss
Their curry is soooo great! Beautiful atmosphere! Nice drinks! Such a neat spot. Great Irish pub with a true Irish pub feel. Friendly staff. It can get really busy there, but there are several bar areas.
Doug Johnston
The Local is a cool old school bar, literally. The bar is an original from way back. Small menu but delicious. The candied bacon on the turkey club is nothing short of amazing. Friendly attentive server. Highly recommend.
Teryn Hubly
I ordered a meatloaf sandwich, which I have never had before. It was absolutely delicious. Our waitress was very attentive and gave good recommendations. I don't quite understand the kissing room.
Lissa
It’s definitely a really cool place if you’re visiting downtown Minneapolis. It’s in a good location so you won’t have to travel far. It has a low lit comfortable, rustic, yet classy feel. The one downside was that it took forever to get a drink at the bar. I counted 30 minutes at the peak of the night.. BUT there was an event going on earlier that night and they were slammed. The manager was incredibly sweet and apologized despite being overwhelmed. Overall a great place, I recommend.
Matthew Breeden
I stopped in here a couple times during a recent trip. Very nice pub feel. Excellent fish and chips entree. Great draft beer selections, both local and imports from a few English breweries. The biggest downside is that the bartenders tend to get overwhelmed by the orders from the restaurant, and end up not providing very prompt service to patrons at the bar. My first visit, I waited about 5-10 minutes before being noticed by the bartender. Granted, he was quite busy, but I generally expect a simple acknowledgment within a few minutes of sitting down. Still, a nice establishment, though they may need to consider better staffing at the bar.
Zoie C
Great atmosphere and food.
Jessiclaire Wolf
I've been here twice. I sat at the bar the first time and had really good service. The bartenders were all very attentive and friendly. Second time I was at a table and our server was sarcastic to the point of rude. It was uncomfortable how long we had to wait to order and how long it took for the food and then how long it took for him to reappear so we could pay. Fortunately I was in good company. We made jokes about where he must have gone. The food was very good, but not good enough to put up with the slow and disheartening service. I hope it improves.
Josh “Cirrus” Nevala
Amazing food and service. The food was absolutely amazing. We came in at 6 on New Year's Eve and were seated right away. Prices are fair for the quality of the food. Drinks are also on par with the food; they were great. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a good atmosphere restaurant or bar.
Trevor Johnson
One of my favorite qualities of the local is it's consistency. It can be very busy, but the service is always good and drinks and food are always dependable. It is suitable to sit down with colleagues for lunch or stop in for drinks with friends at night. They can accommodate large groups with planning, plus there are a lot of good spaces for bigger groups to congregate naturally
Zachary Le Duc
The Local has a great atmosphere. The space is really unique and cozy. The food has always been good (especially the spinach artichoke appetizer, roast sandwich, and Guinness mousse). It can be busy depending on when you go, but it's worth waiting for a little while.
Veronica Slaton
This is such an awesome place! The atmosphere is great, the service and food are outstanding!!! Went here with a group for a work conference and everybody loved it! Popular items among the group were the pot roast, steak and mushroom pie, Guinness mousse. and the toffee cake!!! It was so good and so much fun, we went back another night!
Ryan Scheibert
Only stayed for drinks and dessert. Interior is stunning. Lots of cozy booths and tables, dark wood and antique looking lighting. Banana bread pudding was incredible, as was the cheesecake. Fun place, have to come back for lunch or dinner soon.
Richard Chasse
This is one of my go to bars. I really like the atmosphere here. The inside is beautiful with all of the woodwork and details. There is a kissing room also, which is random but a neat little room. The patio is probably my favorite in Minneapolis. It's a great location to relax and people watch.
Christine Gerber
A classic looking Irish pub with classic Irish drinks and fair. The layout is good for spreading people out when it's extra crowded for an event and the cave room in the back is a great, more quiet place to escape to when you want a more intimate sip with your group. There's plenty of space on the patio as well. The service is friendly and helpful - with one exception when the server mistakenly charged me $250 instead of $50 - if I didn't pay attention when signing, it never would have been caught. But she was apologetic and it was the one incident amongst several visits that I'm not afraid to go back.
Drew R
Excellent, comfortable pub. Great Irish pub food and drink items with delicious menu options, the curry is exceptional. Definitely worth downloading the Cara pub app to take advantage of the specials. Also, get free money on your birthday month to spend on anything that they sell.
Andrew Meggs
These guys have the dankest Irish coffees I've ever had in my life. They are lit af. You gotta try them. This place in general is awesome, though. I love how traditional Irish it is, with all the tucked away alcoves, the rooms are so awesome! So yeah, great atmosphere, great drinks, great food. Can't ask for more.
Debbie Mortensen
This is where we spent our last night in Minneapolis and let me tell you, this place just rocks!! They have a decent patio area and a cool pubsy look inside. The staff at this place were just awesome including the security guy they had that night. We had a few beers and a Moscow Mule to end the night. I ordered their fish and chips to-go and they were great!! We found a ton of cool places in Minneapolis and if I ever come back, this place will be one that I revisit.
Antonio Stewart (Tony)
I got the chicken shots and the pub pot pie both were pretty good. The chicken came n a honey/whiskey sauce that was bomb. Then the pub pie isn't ur traditional pie, think pot pie but with just the top crust, somehow it works though. They also have excellent service, or at least at the bar didn't sit down. They made sure if we needed something we got it right away.
Zachary Domire
A really cool place. Food is very good. I really like the steak and mushroom pie. The staff is generally very good and friendly. Nice tap selection and good whiskey. I stop by at least once every time I am in town.

The portions were very small for the price. The food was good and I like the atmosphere. Also my friend Doug tried to kiss me here. That was wackadoo. Tried cheese curds for the first time. Not impressed.
Greg LaBerge
Always a fan of The Local. Drinks are great, and well priced for a Nicollet Mall restaurant. Food is always heavy, bring a big appetite or split a plate, trust me. The Reuben isn't great I'll be honest, but everything else is good, and the burgers are tasty. Haven't been for the brunch in a while, but a great place to catch a Premier League Match.
Join the Pub Club! So worth it. Free food on your birthday, and quick rewards.
Miguel Pereira
Nice service, great looking Irish Bar. For a "sports bar" the TVs are not in the best place. The food was good. I eat a Ahi Tuna Salad. It was great, but too small. Overall a good experience. Not great although.
Skye Dawn Taylor
I love this bar. The poultine fries are delicious and filling. The fish and chips are good. I love their burgers the most. Great selection of beers. Ciders on tap. Great place for a date. Cozy atmosphere. Great bar service!
S KIM
great place. Unfortunatelya few drinks were sold out. Not much of light food options for late night drinking. Very friendly server and great atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this place. Next time please have some lighter snack options.
Samantha Nolan
The Rueben was very tasty and good portion. The Cara Club was my absolute favorite, I've never tried a club anywhere else that was THAT good!! Definitely recommend. It was very intimate seating. We made reservations the same night and it was a breeze getting seated.
Meredith Myers-Petro
I love the look of this place. The booths are surrounded by antique etched glass, and antique looking dark wood. The service is great. A wonderful place to go with a group. My group of 7 was seated in a booth immediately during happy hour!
Candace Valenzuela
Food was good, the bartenders were nice, but they were short staffed for a planned party. Felt like the waitress didn't care due to guaranteed gratuity. Had to walk downstairs to get forks and knives for plated orders because the waitress disappeared for 20 minutes after dropping off our food.
Kayla Johnson
Service was great, all staff was informative, friendly and made my group and I feel like we were part of the family. Anyone who stops there will definitely enjoy the food and of course the drinks. Order the "Big Ginger" the drink is so amazing and you will not be disappointed!
Joy Olson
A kind man on the Skyway gave us directions to "the Local", he said it was his favorite restaurant downtown, and now it is ours!
The food, the ambiance, the wait staff couldn't have been better! The Poutine was excellent as were the fish and chips. The Caramel Apple bread pudding was scrumptious! This is a great place to eat and the price was okay too!
AA
Quality food good drinks and awesome vibe. I do live 20 miles away from this place but I can't resist going there.
Update:
My first time at The Local was on the FIFA World Cup 2018 final game, it was fully packed. Great vibe and environment made my first experience so good and out of the world.
After that I have been visiting The Local once or twice every month with friends and family.
I believe it's right spot on, good food (I do love the Bison Burger and tater tots) with a really good selection of craft beers and wines.
You can find quality mountain west IPAs there with a reasonable price.
I also really like the interior design, a retro classic wooden that has a one of kind character. Basically it's the go to place for me.
Lindsey Fuchs
With this restaurant being a convenient downtown dining place, I have been meaning to try it for sometime. I dine a lot downtown and with work crowds service can be very lousy since the restaurants get slammed with everyone coming in at the same time. This was not the case with my experience at The Local. Elizabeth, our waitress, went above and beyond to make sure we a had fabulous dining experience. She was so helpful with navigating the menu and her recommendations on what to get. I usually do not post reviews, but I thought that this server needed to be recognized for her hard work and attentiveness to each table even though the restaurant was slammed. She made it seem like we were her only table even though I saw that she had numerous tables. It can be hard to sit down for a meal during the workday because there is a time frame, but Elizabeth was on top of everything. Great job Elizabeth!
Gail Rall
Went for happy hour. Specials on apps and drinks were typical happy hour specials. The Gouda fries were AMAZING. I thought they would be fries with melted Gouda cheese. No my friend, they were not. They were chunks of Gouda cheese, lightly battered and fried. Melt in your mouth cheesey goodness! The slightly spice tomato sauce they came with made them even more delicious!
Ted Pfohl
My first time will easily cause a return. Fish & chips outstanding, done in the old world style, do not expect American. Mary had the turkey burger, which she stated is wonderful. Bryan, our server, provided great service & suggestions...
Trent Bellew
Came to entertain some customers and everyone loved it. Cocktail and Beer menu were very wide ranging to cover many tastes with many local attractions. For non-alcoholic folks they did have San Pellegrino and the other traditional drinks available. Nice warm place to gather with some friends and have great conversation.
Maia Leis
Really good food and drinks but a bit busy, boozy and bro-y the times that I’ve been there. Nice open atmosphere, good service, and generally very clean and classy. Nice patio in the warm weather!
Kevin Cotch
We brought our dog to The Local and the staff was extremely welcoming. Unfortunately, our dog had an accident on the sidewalk right outside the door, which was not ideal. However, the staff was great and told us multiple times that there has been worse things that have happen in that exact spot. It made us feel so welcomed and made our experience very easy for us. I highly recommend to go to The Local if you want to bring your dog with.
Artie Davis
Very comfortable bar. Nice selection of liquor and beer. Super friendly staff. Just shared appetizers but they were all very good. Nice outdoor seating area as well.
Jane Marshall
Awesome ambiance. Amazing food--a surprise given it's British/Irish food. Had the Chicken pot pie and fish and chips. Seriously worth the visit. Its a great venue for larger groups. I can't wait to go there again!
irini sky
I loved the "winter warmers" part of the menu! Took a hot whisky-based drink with cinnamon which was just perfect for a cold night in Minneapolis. The place is quite big and even though I was there on a Wednesday, there were many people :-) The waitress could have been more polite and smily through.
Most Dope
This place is simply fantastic! My wife and I were on a trip and decided to go here tonight but we had to walk multiple blocks in the snow and it was very well worth it! Great beer and whiskey selection and the beef and mushroom pie was delicious! We might be back tommorow night!
Krista Meyers
Awesome decor, great ambience. One of the top places to enjoy food, Irish beer, and soccer!
Ryan Staats
Setting was nice, cool place. Wait staff was excellent, food was very poor. I can't recommend it if you're eating, but if you're just hanging out and getting drinks, it's a cool place.
Chad Fallon
A truly iconic Irish Bar here in Minneapolis! Love the different area's within the bar, especially the "Kissing Room" service was great. My only gripe would be the food. I ordered a classic Shepherds pie and the meat vegetable mixture was OK, but not where it should be. The mashed potatoes on top were very dry. It would be nice to have it more buttery or with some of the gravy so it is not so dry.
David Pless
Excellent service. Tim W. was professional, prompt, courteous, knowledgeable. The food was good, though the Wee Salad was only lettuce with cucumbers and red onion. The only negative I can think of is the smokers who were allowed to stand next to our outdoor table while we ate.
Anthony Flick
The bar's interior is head-to-toe carved wood and filagree, which hints at some grand tradition in this building, though I didn't ask what that might've been. The place seems to cater to the business crowd (with prices to match) and there seems to be a dining section, but we arrived far too late for any of that. Their speakers were pumping the typical pop/rap fare, which was jarringly out of place with the atmosphere and made things feel a little surreal. The staff was friendly enough and our fellow patrons were a delight, so I have no complaints there. I highly recommend the Big Ginger and Boulevarder, but there's an extensive drink selection to be had and I intend to try them all, should I ever return.
Alexa Hysi
Best pot roast I have ever had and the service was awesome. BBQ Pork sandwhich was also good, but could not beat out the pot roast. Roast is a little salty but plays well into the flavor, you will lick your plate clean. And the price for dinner was really good. A great dinner for two under $30 cannot be beat.
Arthur Bishop
Huge out door patio, great for people watching. Knowledgeable staff and on point bartenders. The menu is perfect for a quick bite or a full meal. Mixed crowed of locals and travelers. I'll be back soon.
Sarah Sue
Great location + good service = happy friends. We sat outside but the inside of this place is neat. I hadn't seen a "kissing room" before and thought it was extremely cute and set up romantically. 4 stars due to the fact that's it's on an intersection and the street lights automated pedestrian alert was louder than it needed to be.
Kathryn Anderson
The ambience and food had clear roots in Irish culture. The music considerably less so, but that is the only complaint. A charming stop while shopping, walking around Nicollet Mall, or before catching a show downtown. The food matched expectations and the service was good. Looking forward to returning.
Ned O'Doherty
Always a pleasure, particularly when you get a private alcove for your group. So nice to have a downtown restaurant where you can hear each word that everyone speaks. Pot Roast was truly excellent. Not cheap meals, but quality and service wins out.
Lauren Jackson
Wonderful atmosphere for a fun time downtown if you're looking for some character. Dark Irish people b setting with private seating and bar options plus private upstairs lounge area. Stick to the drinks in the menu. Not a place to have wine though.
Natalie K
This is a Minneapolis favorite! I have always loved the vibe at The Local! It's pretty dark inside, no matter the time of day. The beautiful, old, wood bar is absolutely gorgeous! There are tons of little nooks and crannies to tuck away for private conversation whether there are 2 of you or 20... be sure to peak your head into The Kissing room!
Liam O'Sionnach
Fish and chips were great. Guinness tasted like the best I've ever had somehow. Can't beat the ambiance. Took a long time to get waited on on a Thursday night. Someone got completely plastered and they just kicked him out instead of calling him a cab. Found him outside after passed out on a table where he could've been robbed or worse.
Nicole Bauer
I've been here many, many times. The space is large and impressive. The menu includes a lot of items at various times which are generally good regardless of what you get. I recently enjoyed the calamari immensely. On weekend nights this place gets absolutely packed to the seams. Other times it has a relaxed and cozy atmosphere. Patio seating is available. They serve the most Jameson of any single location in the world.
Jay Marschall
This was my first time down at The Local. The food and service was amazing. We had a group of seven, with a reservation. We were seated immediately. I had the local burger, which was filling and delish. The aestechtics are inviting and key draw for me.
Nichil Kantelal
Great spot for watching soccer. Great tap list. Food is like 8/10 imo. My friend ordered fish amd chips and they were really good. I ordered the salad, it was smothered with quite strong sauce on top and the tuna while cooked well was also salted and combine that with the sauce it made it salty.
So hence 4/5. Good place tho. Better food than Brits pub (food hasnt been good recently)
Eric Gantwerk
Bison burger was excellent! Cooked perfectly, very juicy. Fries were excellent as well. Service was great. We were there for a corporate lunch and had some great appetizers as well.
André Hartmann
The bar has a very authentic flair....close to what you get in Irland or UK. The food is typical pub grub, but sadly the quality was not as expected. The friendly service and grand selection of beer and bourbon made up for it.
Melissa Prostrollo
This is one of my all-time favorite places in Minneapolis. The atmosphere is great and they have good food, in addition to drinks. In the Summer, outdoor seating is a nice plus. I don't feel too old or to young to be there, since there is a nice mix of ages.
Randi Ramirez
Excellent food. Vegetarian options. Good drinks. Atmosphere is amazing as well as the staff. Was in town for a weekend. Was so pleased with everything I went back the next day.
Eric Anderson
The food was very good. We always like to try the specialty drinks places offer and the drinks here were pretty good as well.
Service was quick and food was brought out fast - and we were there on a weekday around 5pm when it was busy.
Cherie Haas
The Ahi Tuna salad is the best! My husband enjoyed the Minnesota burger, and the teens consumed a great ramped-up Mac and cheese and lots of the best fries ever! Our waiter was friendly, helpful and aware of our time schedule to get to the 8:00 show at the theatre.
Blake Schembri
We went two times while we were visiting. They have great drinks, food people, solid outside area and food was great. They spinach artichoke dip was the most amazing I have ever had.
Gavin Grivna
Amazing Irish bar downtown on Nicollet. Great food, better whiskey and Big Ginger drinks! Large bar to sit at, divided rooms available and party rooms too. I love this place so much we had our wedding rehearsal dinner here! A must visit if in Minneapolis!
Cheng Lo
Cozy place with large bar. Nice if ur hanging oit with friends n want to catch up on life. If you want to stay for hours and drink n chat, this is the place. Food is also good. Highly recommend the calamari and chicken bites!
Kayla Stallings
Jasmine is the best bartender ever! She knows a ton about beer and gave us tons of recommendations for the city! Im assuming an owner greeted us and said goodbye at the door like we were family. Seriously a must go! Busiest spot on the block but you dont feel that way when you step inside!
Justina Schiroo
Elegant downtown spot for drinks and appetizers. We always go here for our happy hours. Lots of seating nooks for groups up to 12 or so, and good areas with high-tops for mingling.
En Esstah
A lot of fun here. The service staff is friendly and helpful. An inviting place even when not so full, a fun gathering spot with, or to make, new friends. In the middle of the heart of Minneapolis, The Local is a great central location for the beginning, the middle, or the end of your outings and adventures!
Chris Kraft
Really cool layout with an average cocktail selection. They don't do a great job of rotating their drink list, and the typical clients who hang out here aren't great. Definitely worth a stop overall.
Tyrone Babione
Love this place. Located in the heart of St Paul, it has a classic Irish pub flair with great service, unique food, excellent beer selection and tasty Bloody Mary's. Price is affordable.
Nina Koller
Good ambience, I really like all the little secluded areas, beautiful decor. The food is good, although the price of the appetizers for the amount of food you get is pretty disappointing, same for desserts. Other than that, I really enjoy it.
Rob Ronnenberg
Great food and a really unique building to enjoy the atmosphere.
Adam Levy
The Local - Minneapolis is wonderful! A restaurant and pub, in Downtown Minneapolis that has the flavors and flair of an Irish Pub. I really like the wonderful and authentic food and beverage choices but the absolute best part of going to The Local - Minneapolis is the corned beef and cabbage! The sandwiches, pub pot roast, curry and soups are amazing! Get to the restaurant a little early in the lunch or dinner hours to avoid the crowds and it's even better. I go as often as I can or when I'm Downtown with colleagues and look forward to it every time.
Emily and Ryan
Great servers and bartenders every time we go. Relaxed atmosphere and awesome architecture. The signature drink 'Big Ginger' was certainly a highlight as well. Fantastic experience
Jkobski
beautiful place. a bit spendy but good drinks and apps. seating is a little space but it's got a lot of character. we had 3 different servers durring our night and they were all great.
Mary Grace Alton
Fantastic food, prices, service and Irish ambience
Steph Mathena
On Monday, October 1st, I visited the Local. Since I hadn't been there before, I thought I would give it a go. Beautiful decor; I loved the separate semi- dining rooms, on the 10th Street side. I was seated right away. It was after 1 pm, I believe. Okay, I'll get right to it. Great , and I mean great service. The food I DID get was awesome. But...No sausage rolls. No bangers and mash- not enough customer demand. Really? That's food from HOME, Minnesota! No Irn Bru. Soft drink served ALL over the place. And no Sherry. All the things listed are STAPLES of the environment. If you don't have them, then two stars go missing. Shame, too. The chicken shots, and Reuben were STELLAR. But, with my new-found menu awareness, I would still go back.
Mark Goodner
I read these reviews and wonder if they are accurate or even real. This one is real, you see my name. Was in town on business and went to The Local because I was staying close by. I had the pot roast that everyone raves about and it truly is something special. Best I have ever had and even better than my own, and I am a damn good cook. If you are on the road and crave a "home cooked meal", you can find true comfort food here. I spent 2 years in the UK and the place had a feel like everyone's "Local" there. Busy, clean, huge, friendly locals, and great food. Go, you will be glad.
Roger W. Tiller
First time here. The food was really good. I suggest the Chicken Shots appetizer. We had a large group but by calling ahead they were able to accommodate us and they took great care of us.
Zach Zielke
This is a great local (see what I did there) Irish Pub in the area. It is the biggest of all of them. It is very broken up inside with booths and I didn't see a nice open area so I would say this is not your best choice for a large group if they are busy.
Food was great and they had a decent drink menu. Bar is huge though!
Sara Volkenant
We recently held our rehersal dinner in one of the private rooms at The Local and had a fantastic time! The staff, especially the manager Kevin and our server were very friendly and accomidating. The food was delicious. I would recommend The Local to anyone thinking about a private event and I will certainly keep them in mind for my next event as well.
Ali Rox
5 star decor...it's a must-see. The crowd is usually too bro-ish though. Irish-American food. I can't believe the previous owner sold this place to concentrate on his mediocre whisky distillery.
Matt Brooks
Really cool experience. Service was great. Lots of space and a unique layout. Excellent beer selection. Would definitely visit again the next time I'm in town.
Les Dykema
Great atmosphere and food. I should have added that we were there for an engagement party and the staff was very accommodating. Our server was top notch.
Dixie Jepson
Nice atmosphere inside, staff friendly. Lunch was adequate. At lunch, I think your better off eating out front under the umbrellas as the staff tends to concentrate on the patio lunch crowd.
Kellita Whisnant
Great food and drinks...Irish Pub influenced, however everyone is welcomed. Friendly helpful staff..the food is tasty and attractive. One of the managers (Donnie) is always on his game. He Knows the establishment well and I've seen him balance customers and staff needs without breaking a sweat. Always nice to me when I visit. It's downtown Minneapolis so you see alot and they have a great outdoor patio section..even the service when outside is great. They don't forget you. Lol
Pat greene
Visited the Local today with my family and had the best time! Was so nice to have a room to visit - Such a great set-up! Food was delicious and service outstanding! Will be back! Hat's off to the Chef and staff!
Phil Wever
Great staff. Tasty food. What more do you need.
Mary Engstrom
Great ambiance. Staff is outstanding. Salmon was very good! Wonderful place to meet up with friends for dinner or a drink. Only bad thing is that there's no free parking.
Salvador Delgado
Great environment for watching proper football. Great good, delicious beer and great service. Good bar for Manchester United fans too, the game is always on one of the main TV's with sound!!!!!
Stephanie Greer
I ate here a couple times for lunch and dinner while on a business trip. The food is very good and the prices are reasonable. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Eating outside when the weather is nice is an added bonus.
Emily Anderson
Very cool place. Seems to be very historic.
Stephen Oliver
Beware of the transient people when dining outside. Was attacked for not giving my utensils to a person that wanted it. When I demanded the person to be arrested after the assault I was informed that “The police only detain them for a couple hours and then are released”. Must be a fairly common occurrence for the staff to know that!
Update:
I have been in contact with the manager of The Local and was pleasantly surprised by his candor about this problem and his concern for the issues that plagues this downtown business area.
I will be contacting the politicians of the area as well as the police and sheriff department to hopefully raise their awareness of the impact that it has on tourism and the safety of the public. I encourage any who have had similar experiences to due the same.
Thanks again to the staff at The Local for their prompt reply.
Albert Danielson
It's ok for dining. The dining area by the bar is tight, but pretty neat decor is all over the place. Food was pretty hit-or-miss, with some being pretty good, like the wee burgers, or very disappointing, like the poutine.
Ray Verhelst
This is a very traditional Irish pub and the interior looks as if it was designed and built in Belfast and then shipped over. Very busy business lunch crowd and the broadcast all the football (soccer for you domestics) on all of the screens around the place. Food is good bar fare.
Joshua Havel
The home of 2 Gingers Whiskey and the previous #1 seller of Jameson in the world. This has been my favorite local spot for inspiring an entrepreneur and comes with a great Irish bar atmosphere and menu. I'm a fan of their late night menu especially for the area, glazed chicken shots are a great share option.
Kayla
By far, one of my favorite places in Minneapolis. A relaxing environment, typically filled with business people. Great beer and great food! I have tried recreating their salad dressing for over a year now - it's just not the same!
Vic K
GREAT atmosphere! Had a burger which was fantastic. Try the hot pretzels... awesome. Love this place, get the “Pub Club” app for some nice discounts.
Carter Dunham
The local has just reopened. The bar atmosphere was great and the food and service were excellent as well.
Bobby Khan
Awesome historic Minneapolis bar. Location is ideal right the middle of Nicollet Mall. One of the best patios in downtown. Food is great too.
If you go here at night look for Todd at the Bar. He is an awesome bartender.
Brian Chia
Huge bar/pub with good selection of comfort foods and bar cuisine. Atmosphere is dim but lively and they play sports on their many TVs. A but intimidating due to the size, especially with a name like the "Local".Service at the bar was excellent. A bit pricey, but still reasonable, just not anything particularly unique or special. Overall a positive experience.
John Hamm
Good drinks especially of you like whiskey. Just like their partner bar in St. Louis Park, Cooper, I think their menu is confusing. It has some american, a little Irish, and a bunch of random additions like Punjab glory and a wild river e burger.
Chris Gibbons
Stopped in for lunch and had the Wee Fish and Chips. It was delicious. Service was fast and very friendly. The restaurant has a great decor and ambience. Awesome place!
Andrew Gutchess
Great atmosphere. Huge well stocked bar with lots of Irish whiskey to pick from. Nice quiet tables off to the side of you have a group.
Hayagreev Ramesh
An authentic Irish bar with a lot of space. Can accommodate 10-15 people at some tables. It's very popular so you might want to get here early. Not sure if they accept reservations.
Eric quintanilla
Fries and the bison burger were pretty good but it was overcooked for a bison burger that I asked to be medium.
Anna Barrick
My favorites include:
- bacon tots
- old fashioned
- Reuben (I ask for extra thousand island)
- the Waldorf salad (add chicken!)
- the chicken sandwich (sub sweet potato fries)
Unique atmosphere, fun eclectic vibe, usually great staff (but the food can take a little long sometimes)
Brady Peterson
I had the meatloaf and it was awesome. Good and hearty. Others with me had the fish and chips and they enjoyed then as well. The late night bar scene is lively as well.
Lizzy Reck
First time going and I wasn't disappointed. The staff was very friendly & helpful with any questions. The food was flavorful and cooked perfectly. Will definitely come back!
Margie Leira
The place was beautiful and has a great ambience. The food was good and fresh. Unfortunately, the service was not great. It took nearly 20 min before our order was taken, and the lack of attentiveness persisted through the meal.
Patrick
They survived the renewal of Nicollet Mall! Visit this classic downtown pub for a great bar menu and busy happy hour. I like that they have several seating options available... bar, tables, high tops, booths, and party rooms.
Chris Ross
We decided to try The Local Saturday to watch delayed coverage of the Rugby World Cup. Melissa and the manager made sure we found a good table and we sat and watched the game. Good work staff.
Terry DeBey
Very cool atmosphere, good staff and location. I had a burger and thought it was good but very small for the price. I'll try their Irish food next time but thought they were over priced.
Andy Whisney
The food is outstanding - and it's a super convenient location! It's in a great part of Minneapolis, the food is solid, and it's a wonderful spot for a quick bite with friends or family. Cheers to 5 stars!
Alex Hatzenbuhler
The Local is an excellent Irish restaurant right on Nicollet Mall. They have a large outdoor patio, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is old-timey. Nearly everything on the menu is delicious. Great place for going out to lunch!
Cyndi Anderson-Hinds
Love the Big Gingers. Promotes football (soccer) and has matches worldwide on - there are a few pubs downtown that do too but I am married to a ManU fan and there are lots at The Local. Happy hour is great. Creamy hashbrowns on the weekend are so tasty. The kissing room in the back is convenient. Been coming here for years and will continue to do so! Beautiful bar/woodwork. Great service.
Mary Mike Donohue
Great menu for HH drinks & apps. Loved the dessert options. Guinness Mousse was a favorite. Staff took care of us well - attentive.
Elizabeth T-E
Friendly place. Great beer! Delicious flatbread.
Apples Oranges
Always my favorite restaurant and bar in Minneapolis! I highly recommend their hot buttered rum drink in January! The burgers and red meat are the best outside of Texas!
Shan McVee
My wife and I had brunch here and loved the food. Authentic, hearty and delicious! I had a local Irish breakfast and my wife had the fish and chips. Service staff are friendly and helpful
Cheryl and Jim Boggs
The food was fresh and very good. My salad was topped with a deep fried hard boiled egg! That was unusual, but very tasty!
Keith Rench
We came to The Local after nearly 8 hours of drinking, but we didn't let that stop us from drinking more. What did stop me from drinking more was the crappy Black & Tan that I had. I know it's partially my fault, because I didn't send it back or say anything to the waitress, but come on... it was almost entirely black. Where's the tan??? I did have the fish and chips (sorry I failed to get a picture, because I was drunk) and it was delicious! Nice breading and super flaky fish! I'd get it again, but I wouldn't order a Black & Tan. It's sad when an Irish bar can't make a Black & Tan, right?
Brian Bennett
Very cool staff, very helpful. Killer eats, wonderful bar design. Excellent eats. Beer menu could be more adventurous. Food makes up for it.
James Smith
Authentic woodwork and architecture transported across the ocean and rebuilt here makes it a really cool spot to check out. Good drinks, food, outdoor seating, and a Pub Club app for discounts. Also - a kissing room! Have an Irish date here.
Sam Griffin
Worth the walk in -10 degree weather. Wings were on point and great selection of beer and whiskey. Was just visiting the city, but would definitely come back here anytime.
Sound Beginnings Music Studio
Great space, lots of "nooks & crannies" for different seating arrangements. The food was excellent - i'd never had a salad with a fried soft - boiled egg before!
Unstapled Lisa
I love the restaurant in it's decor. Their food could be better. The only thing I like on their menu is steak and a reuben. I try the reuben annually it's like someone shredded corned beef and put in a ton of thousand island.
Eric Leppink
Great cabbage and corned beef as well as chicken pot pie. Nice rooms off to the side for a pleasant dining experience and bar space available.
Richard Hunt
High hopes, only fair fare. The corned beef poutine was a lukewarm glob of cheese by the time it made it to the table from the kitchen. Alas. But salmon of the week was tasty and the decor is well done. Being seated just inside the door when it's way below freezing outside is no one's idea of a good time.
Nick Jacoby
They have a good lunch special. Food is average and a little pricey. Good place for a few drinks... gotta love the Big Ginger.
Alex Rose
Nothing against this spot's food or drinks, it's all actually really good.
Just had a weird experience here with jealous Wild fans while I was wearing my Hawks jersey. If you want to call me out and yell at me, get a better team.
Zachary Kunesh
Classic Irish pub with a modern/old soul feel. For downtown, great prices for beverages and food! Whatever you decide to get, get it with mashed potatoes! I get here as often as I can as I live in St Paul!🤠 …
Matthew Gantz
I really only come here for soccer matches and St. Patrick's Day, but it's a decent space. Lots of semi-private seating, and plenty of bar space. The Local is a great spot for a pub vibe in Minneapolis.
Kristina
A large place but so many spaces for making it a more intimate gathering with friends. Great mixed drinks. Tasty Irish and American food. A great place to meet friends for a social evening.
E Ying
Great pub atmosphere. Staff very friendly. Only ate appetizers, but all 4 were very good. I enjoyed the mushroom caps.
Emily Dean
The food was really good. On the pricey side for two people but other than that I have nothing bad to say. Great service, food and drinks.
Bryan Custer
Traveling through..after reading the reviews we had to try thr Pot roast. It was the best I've had. The decor is beautiful, brought over from Dublin, and you can dit outside or in. Service was wonderful. Hope we pass through again!.
Louis W.
Parking can be a problem for this downtown Minneapolis location. Interior is very pleasant and old style, with a few private alcoves which are great for business. Food is good and service always excellent.
Tara Kardong
The staff was great. Very friendly. Food was great. They asked which type of table works best for my wheelchair to be at. They did their best to accommodate for my needs.
Bako Orionzi
Great place for classic Irish food or just drinks for happy hour. Wide selection of beers on tap, plus tons of cocktails. A good standby to visit anytime
Stephen Owen
Excellent drink menu and good atmosphere, the fish is truly huge in the fish and chips. Salads are pretty small so the burgers are where it's at.
Mario Hess-Winburn
Amazing food and excellent selection of whiskey. Fish and Chips and chicken shots are the best menu items. Burgers are great too!
STeve Lastname
I love the food and service. I will not be going back however. The 3 percent add on is just another tax on top of all the extra taxes in Minneapolis. I did read it on the menu. Says other places are doing this as well. I hope not. Just one more thing to keep people from going downtown to eat that do not already live downtown. I understand doing business in a city is very expensive. As all citys are however it is also expensive to vist these location. Parking driveing in with traffic. Etc... but if you dont mind getting taken advantage of its a great place.
Amy Hertel
The food is good and large portions but the selection is limited. The staff was professional and eager to offer suggestions. The noise level was a little high.
Kelly Meyers
The Wee Lunch menu is awesome. Just enough to fill you up and for a great price! It's a great lunch spot for all those that work downtown.

Authentic Irish pub. This is what they call a pub in a box, which is where Irish craftsman build the pub in Ireland and ship it in a container to be assembled on site by Irish craftsman. One of the only places you can find KillKenny beer in Minnesota. Food is great and people are great. I happen to be a Guinness guy and have a philosophy that you need to go to a pub that changes out the kegs on a very regular basis. The tap beer at the local is very fresh and another main reason why I like to frequent the pub.
Zach Zum Mallen
Great place to grab happy hour downtown. If you are in the mood for that 'Nicollet Mall' experience this is the place to do it. Now that the street has been revvamped it is pretty chill to eat outside as well.
Hilary Wagner
Food and drinks were good, service was a little slow. They were pretty busy for a weeknight. Very unique interior- lots of booths tucked away and room for semi-private small parties.
Shontay Barnes
Good food and service. They also had a good drink selection. Our group of 6 were served without any issues.
Molly Weisenburger
Always a great spot for beer and dinner with a cozy, artisan woodwork, old-school atmosphere. Wide selection of liquor, excellent draught beer choices, satisfying falafel salad.
Stephen Wilson
Private birthday party upstairs. Our server kicked ass handling a crowd of at least 60ppl by himself, food and drinks. Good food, good beer selection including non-irish options! ;)
Kathleen Selken
The Pub Curry was very good, wait person was friendly and efficient. Everyone at the table had great entrees. Everyone enjoyed the experience.
Paul Leason
Fun place for friends, not so much family. Very loud! I liked it. Faster than fast service! Food was awesome. A good price to match a good meal equals a return for me.
Pavan Sripada
The best thing I personally like this place for the delicious food. They have good variety and nice ambience. Most of the our team happy hours are scheduled here.
Renee Vandervelde
This is a huge bar, it's got space for a lot of people, there are a lot of taps and drinks. Downside is it's loud and a little rowdy on nights, and there's nothing too unique about the menu. If you've got a big group for drinking, this is a good option, but it's no special find.
Doug Underwood
Great atmosphere, not so good Shepard pie. It lacked veggies and it was salty. Everyone else enjoyed their other plates.
Lucas Meyer
This place has great vibe and great drinks. Chris was our waiter and he did an AMAZING job!!!! Funny and knew the menue inside and out!! Great place. great food. Great service!!

Of the atmosphere, pot roast sandwich, and awesome service didn't win us over..... the fact that you sell Trulys sealed the deal. We were in town for 3 days and visited 3 different times :)

Loved this bar, the atmosphere, the beer, the food, the staff, etc. We stopped in the first night we were in MN, went back for Happy Hour the 2nd night. Even bought a tshirt! Can't wait to hang out at The Local again!

Bartender told me that the pot roast was like mom made. I am glad I got it anyway (my mother is an awful cook). The vegetables were delicious. I highly recommend it.

Very good food, service, and all around vibe. I am giving 4 stars because they need to clean the bathrooms a little better. This would be 8/10. Will be back.
Adam Ford
The atmosphere is fun, especially if you like soccer. There's a variety of sandwiches, but my favorite thing is the tomato soup.

Cozy and warm. The ambiance is very relaxing and it has several tables tucked away just enough to still be a part of the lounge scene while offering a bit of privacy.
Nick Cedergren
Great drinks. Great people. Great time. Great server named Lucia S.
Dustan Korte

Christine L
I did not have the food here, but it was such a great place to hang out and have beers and cocktails. The place is bigger than it seems. They have a lot of nooks and crannies where you can have private seating or you can sit at the many bars.
Aaron Fatland
Had a cool vibe and dark rustic atmosphere. We missed dinner time there but they did late night apps which were great and very reasonably priced.
Nicholas Wanamaker
I love the feel of this place. The good is decent and the drinks are good.
Be careful at happy hour. The social elements are great but it is really cramped and hard to move.

Parker Alton
Probably my favorite place along Nicollet. The food is delicious (especially the pub pie) and there is a great beer selection. Staff is always great.
Peter Simon
The quality of the food and beer do not live up to the asthetic of the building. It's a gorgeous establishment, but the quality needs to improve or the process need to go down.
Tony Wagner
