Reviews of The Kenwood Restaurant
Shanelle S
New American spot in a quaint neighborhood. Came here for a big group brunch (12 people) at noon and we had a reservation made beforehand. Indoor and outdoor dining available. Everyone working was super friendly. Gender-neutral single occupant restrooms are available in the back righthand side of the restaurant. Credit cards accepted. They do serve alcohol (including mimosas).
We were told that the egg Benedict was one of the most popular things to get. The breakfast potatoes were crispy and they came as a side. The chicory salad was a bit bitter but there was a ton of finely grated cheese atop the greens.

I loved almost everything we ordered here. The menu seems to be a bit Italian inspired and quite seasonal. The fresh corn soup is one of the best dishes I’ve had in a long time. Absolutely delicious! Pasta with kale was great, though the clam sauce was absurdly garlicky, so almost inedible. Side dishes and dessert also good. Service was excellent.
Christina LeClaire
Everything was so so good from the atmosphere to the food to the service. We ordered the black cod and the carbonara. Will be back to explore more of the menu. 10/10 recommend!

Cozy, supper club-like setting perfect for a warm winter meal. We have eaten here twice and had 10-12 dishes across the two meals and all have been wonderful. They offer a corkage fee if you want to bring your own wine. This is one where we will be going back a few times each year.

This place is a gem!!! A quaint little cafe with excellent food and the service is great! The cooks are amazing and very friendly! They do a great job! And they have nice outdoor seating as well! .Definitely visit this place! You will not be disappointed!

So good to see this place thriving. Great brunch spot. Enough items to satisfy a 3-year old - get sides of bacon, fresh fruit, and banana bread - done. The Kenwood burger is a protein hit - get some ketchup to add some sass. The steel cut oats was easy, spot on, and tasty with brown sugar and blueberries, but ask for some Maple syrup. The basic breakfast is solid, the paoched eggs were perfectly prepared - huge win. Some easy cocktails, good coffee and solid lattes. Always a happy face after eating!

I have always enjoyed dining at The Kenwood, but in the last few years the enjoyment has given way to it being one of my favorite restaurants in the Twin Cities. These guys are knocking it outta the park!
I feel as comfortable coming here dressed up as I do when I am dressed down. There are innumerable ways to approach the menu, ranging from a coursed experience, to a sharing of plates, to a casual dinner of burgers and fries with yummy stuff to dip them into.
Tweaks are made to their menu regularly, but you’re always guaranteed to find some of the best salads in the city, that are thoughtful and respectful of the ingredients therein. These peeps know how to make a proper plate of pasta, how to braise a piece of meat, and how to sear a fillet of fish. In my experience, you just can’t go wrong.
Thanks, Kenwood, I feel lucky to have you in the neighborhood.

Neighborhood GEM! The Kenwood was always pretty good, but it has gotten way better. The best salad game in town: interesting beets, carrots and others as well as heaping bowls of perfectly composed and dressed greens. Pasta that is excellent, not just a menu place-holder. Very respectable burger and fries as well.

Cozy restaurant in the Kenwood neighborhood (obvi!), near the northwest corner of Lake of the Isles. Street parking is easy, but may be a bit more challenging during winter. The corn soup was spectacular. I'm told that their burger is fabulous. I enjoyed my meal and we shared a couple of desserts, which were very good.

Kenwood has such a cozy vibe and their food is always tasty. I'm a huge fan of their brunch, but their dinner menus are really tasty too. After trying various restaurants including much more expensive places, I think Kenwood is still one of my favorite places to go to.

What a beautiful Gem nestled in a great neighborhood. Ambiance was laid back and relaxing. Great lighting extremely comfortable. Food was just WOW! Wild rice soup with duck confit had great flavor. Creamy but not overly heavy. Roasted carrots with chickpeas was heavenly. Creamy sweet and just a good amount of spice. Olives with oil, garlic and herbs made an olive lover out of me. The salmon with muscles was wonderful. Awesone sear on the salmon. Great flavor and the saffron sauce/soup yum! Short rib was so soft and full of flavor. Couldn't stop eating it. The mashed potatoes and vegetables that came with it were a perfect pair. Definitely recommend if youre in the area that you come eat here. You'll be missing out on a diamond if you don't. Chef/owner Joel is one of the most down to earth and nicest people along with Ben and Joel made our night culinary magic.. All of the servers Shaun and Elizabeth are fantastic, helpful and very hospitable. We will be coming back here many times over. Its been a long time since I've had a meal where EVERYTHING I had was 5 stars! Thank you for a wonderful experience tonight!

I've heard really good things about The Kenwood and they definitely hold up. It feels classy and hipster, the perfect mix. Everything we had was delicious, which was most of the brunch menu. If you decide to try it for yourself go as early as possible, they don't do reservations for small parties.
Tom Ervasti
Possibly the best pasta dish I've EVER had, radiatori with lamb. Spicy, tangy, but not too! A bit crowded, our table was very small. Somewhat posh prices.

I really liked the atmosphere at this restaurant. I give it a 4/5 because while the poultry dish was amazing, the fish was overcooked and bland. Part of the problem was I am gluten-free and could not have the fish's peanut sauce, but usually with that they add lemon, butter, or some kind of flavoring. They didn't and you could taste that it was overcooked. Plus I felt it was a little expensive for the quantity and quality. I have no problem paying high dollar for an excellent meal, but this one was a little overpriced in my personal opinion.
Joon Park
Almost 5 stars. The food was "fine" but personally it was too acidic, salty, and overcooked (mostly the breads). This might be a personal preference and the salty food might actually fare well for older guests. Try it out!

Came here on a weekday for breakfast after a yoga class. It's near Lake of the Isles and has free off street parking available. Looked fancy inside and there were people in business suits, but we were in yoga clothes and it was just fine! They serve local Dogwood coffee for $3 with free refills. The breakfast menu isn't huge, but the options are delicious. There is sort of an a la carte section so I chose the 2 eggs, rosemary potatoes, and pancake with black walnut butter. I would recommend each thing I got! I wish I could make scrambled eggs even half as good as they make theirs, the potatoes were crispy and full of seasonings, and the pancake with black walnut butter was incredible. Everything including the coffee came to about ~ $17.50 plus tip. Service was great as well. Great place to go on a snowy morning or a stop on a walk around Lake of the Isles. Will have to come back for brunch on the weekend! FYI breakfast starts at 8am and they are closed Mondays so plan accordingly.

Very pleasant dining atmosphere. Our dishes were tasty with attractive presentation. Must admit we were a bit disappointed with server. Never asked if wanted more coffee or tea.
Ted Johnsen
Ate here for brunch. Cozy spot. Food was fantastic! My wife got the heuvos rancheros, I got the foccia benedict and we split a pancake. We’ll be back!
andy young
We ordered eggs benedict, and the simple breakfast of eggs, sausage, and rosemary potatoes. Pancake on the side also, which is a must have with the black walnut butter. Mimosas went great with the meal, they have the option of orange or grapefruit juice. Great atmosphere. Menu has a creatively paired selection of dishes. Somethings may be a little pricey, but definitely worth it. I'll definitely be returning and would recommend.
Alex
Awesome brunch place! Smoked steelhead trout hash with poached eggs and horseradish-mustard sauce was beyond delicious! Really, so good. If you’re here, go for it because it is available only this fall. Staff was friendly and the service was quick! Definitely recommend The Kenwood!
Joyce Norman
One of the best burgers I've ever had. Their fries are sooooooo good, too. Service was amazing!
John Weirick
Is this neighborhood spot the perfect blend of coziness and classiness? Is the bookstore next door the best possible way to stay entertained while waiting for a table during weekend brunch waits? Is the Kenwood burger the best in Minneapolis and St. Paul? You must go to find out for yourself.
With gruyere cheese melted and a runny egg perched atop the beef and pork belly on a picturesque golden brioche bun, this burger rocketed to the top of my favorites in the Twin Cities—so savory, so rich, so filling but not overwhelming. And those thick-cut salty fries. And the huevos rancheros and butternut biscuit with mushroom sage gravy and the fluffy pancake with black walnut butter. Yes and amen.
Rachel Gall
This place makes time stand still and you loose your concept of time. It feels slow, though service is prompt and timely. It feels high end, but then its tucked in a small neighborhood so there's lots of local regulars. We got the whole fish, which was excellent.
Amy Lotsberg
I can't believe it took me this long to try this place. I seriously think I had the best omelet of my life and I am super picky about eggs. It was done perfectly! Nice cappuccino too. Great staff. We'll be back.
Carlus Dingfelder
Fun, energetic atmosphere. Good, timely service. Delicious selection of dishes. A nicely curated wine list and well executed classic cocktails.
Kevin Barcus
There are few places that offer the sheer level of quality and creativity that you consistently get fron Don Saunders at The Kenwood. Always great service with welcoming faces. A can't miss destination.
Sonja Freeman
Really lovely place! It was a gorgeous summer day and we sat outside, so our experience might be different from some. Arriving at 12:30 on a Saturday for brunch, there was no wait for tables either outside or in. The prices are justified by the attention to detail, quality of food, and kind attentive service. It really is all about the small things here. You feel a part of the neighborhood. We had the wonderful shrimp & grits, and their classic Benedict. The ham needs a better name, as it is crispy and clearly a special cut - delicious! The eggs couldn't be fresher, and they have nice Dogwood coffee & cold press. The mimosa & sale bloody looked nice as well.
The main reasons I didn't give 5 stars were that the server walked right by us a few times and took other tables (who were seated after us) orders first. He apologized, but our food still came out after theirs, of course. Also the ambiance inside was not as nice as outside - it was spacious but seemed rather ascetic. But it was simple & clean - probably what they were going for. Overall, I gladly recommend The Kenwood!
Enjoy!
Cole Feagler
Wonderful brunch spot in a lovely neighborhood location. The coffee drinks are superb, and I've never ordered an entree that I haven't enjoyed.
The pancakes, trout hash, and huevos rancheros are a few favorites worth trying.
Dave Cecchi
Easy 5 star because it is what it is and it does it well. So reliable. So good. So reasonable. Not trendy, not hip. Nice but but not fancy. It's a perfect place to bring your kids to have a special dinner meal, they can dress up a bit and they can still get great fries. Welcoming service, approachable menu, loads of charm and a kitchen staff that gives a damn. I often think of it being like Tilia only you can get in and it's quieter. Like a midwestern Tilia. I've never had anything bad here, I love the grilled caesar and of course the burger. Beet salad is great, and whatever fish is on the menu is always with considering. (The trout!) Only thing I've ever raised eyebrows over is the wine pours can occasionally be light. But whatever. Enjoy!
Mariam Rehman
Beautiful rustic location with high quality food! Don't let the simplicity of their menu fool you. They really know how to make even the simplest of breakfast entrees into a work of art and really know how to appease your palate!
Husband got the eggs florentine and I got the pancakes. The eggs florentine was so savory and came with rosemary potatoes which were divine. Everything was carefully curated down to a T. The pancakes were some of the fluffiest pancakes I've ever had ! So flavorful without being overly sweet. Absolutely a delight to eat.
They use dogwood coffee and I got a latte - it was amazing with 4 cubes of sugar (I like my coffee sweet).
The waiters are all super friendly and you're greeted immediately when you enter. The service was amazing. Can't recommend this place enough.
Tips:
I'm an early riser and it's important to note that the full brunch menu doesn't start until 10am. We came here a couple months ago at 8am and ended up leaving since we didn't want to try anything from the limited breakfast menu. But that didn't stop us from returning!
Also, they weren't able to change or substitute the menu items if you have dietary restrictions. They believe in not changing the menu because it may compromise flavor, which I respect. However, the items we ordered were so delicious I don't mind trying other things on the menu! Already can't wait to come back!
Denise Tillges
Excellent brunch. Nice selection of foods. Homemade, seasonal, and yummy. Pancakes were VERY good, but as big as the plate, so only order the stack if you are famished 😉 Florentine omelet was delicious, fries were great. Service was excellent. We had a very large group, they were busy, and we never had to wait long for anything. …

10/10 experience. Our server comped our pancake as a gift for my wife since we were celebrating my wife's birthday. What a kind and thoughtful gesture. The food was on point and I will definitely return.

Always stellar bread and circuses at The Kenwood. Treat yourself and sit solo at the bar and watch the kitchen show. Great work, crew! Service is always friendly and elegant as well. My favorite!

Went to this neighborhood gem for the first time last night with friends. What a find! My husband and I eat out in the Twin Cities and find different places each week, and this is now at the top of our list. Chef Joel is delightful and treated us like VIP's. We actually couldn't decided which dish we liked the best because they were all delicious - and you can tell the passion that goes into the food and presentation. Our waitress, Eve, was terrific and explained the mouthwatering menu in great detail. So excited to go back and introduce this restaurant to our friends. Also found out Chef will do special events in your home! We will be back!

I live in the area, but it was my first time here. It will be the first of many. I came with a group of 6 for brunch. Every dish was excellent (huevos rancheros, eggs Benedict, the banana bread!). The service was fantastic. I love the overall ambiance- friendly place but the food and service made it feel more refined/upscale at the same time. Just a perfect restaurant all around. Honestly can’t remember the last time I’ve loved a restaurant this much. Don’t know what else to say, but if you want fine dining in a great relaxed atmosphere, just go and try it! I can’t wait to visit again for dinner.

Popped in here on a Saturday night and thoroughly enjoyed every bite. Was very pleased to see several vegetarian options on their compact menu. I wasn't super hungry, so I paired two appetizers for my meal: the burrata with Brussels sprouts and squash with some focaccia to round it out. Perfect meal. Lovely ambiance. Kind staff.
Rachel Opare-Addo
Quaint little place.
Big portions.
Awesome staff.
Seasonal menu.
I tried two different pasta dishes. (which are entirely made from scratch)
Fries. (The sauce yo)
Focaccia bread.
Chicken meatballs.

All was delish. I will come back.

Date Night @ The Kenwood
We thoroughly enjoyed our 1st trip to this hidden gem. Felt welcome from the moment we walked in. The service was outstanding- we couldn’t believe the number of servers per table (nice call – treat your customers right). We each enjoyed the potato & leek soup; the bacon & chives drizzle was spot on. The chicken & ricotta meatball pomodoro had a nice kick to it.
For mains we were treated to a delicious pork chop (topped with truffle butter) and a duck breast with fregula that rivaled a Peking Duck meal we last had in a hutong restaurant in Beijing. The evening was fabulous capped off with carrot cake and a decadent flourless torte. Compliments to the Chef!

We LOVE the Kenwood. Have been getting take out there since we moved to the neighborhood last year and now that we are going to eat there in person it’s even more of a dream. Staff are friendly, ambiance is cozy chic, and the food is reliably excellent. Their burger is our favorite in Minneapolis-you MUST get the fries and aioli with it to top off a perfect meal. Thank you for being a wonderful neighborhood restaurant!
Brian Glas
Outstanding food and service. Some of the best food I have had in Minneapolis. Kudos to the restaurant to getting away from the tipping custom that is ubiquitous in the United States. They just add a service charge and no additional tipping is expected. Many restaurants in Seattle have moved to this and I am glad to see it is spreading to other cities.
Brandy Churchill
Tasty food, great service, patio seating, and in a pretty neighborhood for a walk after brunch.
M B
Good food, great service. But the 24% Service Charge that this restaurant automatically adds to the bill is obnoxious. If you want to pay your employees an equitable wage, then raise your menu prices. Attaching a note to the check explaining that the 24% is NOT a gratuity under MN law smacks of an insincere attempt to shame customers into paying an additional gratuity. No thank you. I’d be happy to eat here if the menu prices were 24% higher, but I won’t be eating here again given their current practice of a sneaky 24% service charge..
john reichel
I have enjoyed the brunch here before which is why we made the teup again

Food, service, atmosphere, ambiance - spectacular. Went for the first time and had an absolute wonderful experience . Cannot say enough about the food and Chef Joel. Highly recommend the pork chop!! Cannot wait to go again - soon!

Don, his pastry chef and two of his staff came into our home to prepare and serve appetizers and a five course wine paring dinner for a party of 20. Don and I talked prior to the party to decide what we wanted to do, but were open to any suggestions. He sent me a preliminary menu for approval. He nailed it. Him and his staff brought cookware, dinnerware, glassware and utinsils, since I didn't have enough for that size of group. The food, wine and service was amazing. The appetizers were delicious and unique. The small plate courses with the wine were incredible. I can't say enough great things about the meal and experience. Don and his team took care of everything, so that my wife and I could relax and enjoy time with our guests. Everyone had unforgettable evening. When they left, my kitchen was as clean or cleaner then when they came. It was an amazing experience and worth every penny.
Ian Allen
Great place for breakfast, it’s a very conversational environment, and the service is always very polite and attentive.
Recommend the shrimp and grits, and the simple breakfast. I’ll try some other dishes in the future.
Jillian Steinke
A little on the pricey side, but the food is always good and staff is always friendly. I recommend the pancakes with black walnut butter.
Kevin Stockard
Fantastic food. Great service. Friendly wait staff.
Pamalla mielke boyce
The food was fabulous. There were 10 of us and we all were happy with our delicious dinners.

Amazing food! Every time I have ate at this restaurant the food always never fails to amaze me. I also love how the menu always seems to have something new when I go. I have had great service and love the ambiance of the place. Would definitely recommend trying this place to someone look for recommendations in Minneapolis.

Everything from our food to our friendly and attentive service was absolutely fantastic. If you truly want a unique experience with delicious food options you should visit this restaurant. It truly was one of the first times dining felt like it did pre covid but with all the saftey measures in place. We felt very comfortable at the Kenwood.
We ordered the meatballs and roasted cauliflower which were both piping hot and really flavorful.
Dinner we all ordered something a little different than our normal preferences to try something new and it was definitely a great decision. All portions were very generous and again fresh and hot upon arrival
The salmon and pork bologonese were to die for.
Thank you for an amazing experience and if you have not had a chance to try this restaurant its definitely worth it!

The early breakfast was very good but our menu was shortened. This wouldn't normally be a problem but the waiter was ignorant of the fact that the larger brunch menu would be served only 15 minutes later.
The omelette was was pretty good and the atmosphere is excellent. I'd recommend it.
Patty Weber
Food and service was excellent! Highly recommend. We had a Lamb appetizer. For our main courses we had steak with potatoes and brussel sprouts. The best prepared fish I have ever had. For dessert we had bread pudding with caramel sauce and coffee ice cream. It was all wonderful. The service couldn't have been better!
Isaac M
The food and drinks were great on the brunch menu, and the prices were reasonable for what you got. The fried rice was delicious. Service was fast and friendly once we were seated, but we didn't have a reservation (not sure if they even take them since we didn't look) so we waited for 40 minutes over mimosas. It's not tiny, but it's not huge either, so during busy times especially expect something of a wait.
Tom Nuckols
I traveled to the minneapolis area for work and spent a week in the area. Of all the restaurants I ate at, this one will be the one I remember.
The menu is small, the prices aren't the cheapest but what you get is simply good at a fair price. Sometimes that exactly what you want.
The Kenwood offered a cozy environment with friendly staff. You get the feeling that they treat you like a neighbor there. If I could I'd transport this place back to Washington, because I would definitely make this a regular night out if I could. If I could fault it for anything I'd like more vegetarian options but I'm very aware that most people are meat eater, so I'm truly being nitpicky.
You honestly can't go wrong here.
Susan King
Oh my gosh! If I could give 6 stars I would! I just had one of the BEST burgers I've ever had! My co-worker got the burger with the fried egg on it and he said the same thing! Delicious fresh food! We work over in Hopkins and have wanted to get over to The Kenwood for quite some time! Highly recommend!
Matthew Melton
I had the focaccia eggs Benedict, and it was excellent! Make sure to get an order of fries to share they are spectacular and arrived in serving size heaping bowl!
Richard Webb
Cozy spot anytime. Thoughtful, Delicious & Fun food. The burger with the pork belly & fried egg is my favorite for lunch. Smoked salmon was the breakfast of choice - coffee cake was tasty & even the hot chocolate was a perfect temp for our 7 year old. Excellent service & food. Thank you!
James Degner
This is absolutely my favorite restaurant in Minneapolis.
The food is amazing and it's in a beautiful neighborhood.
The atmosphere is comfortable and homey, yet also very classy at the same time.
They also frequently add new dishes to the menu, while keeping customer favorites.
The staff are all attentive and friendly without being overbearing.
Highly recommended.
Lindsy F
Food was amazing. Like, truly amazing. Staff was very timely, friendly, and helpful. Answered all our questions about the food and the little lady filling glasses was right on filling them up. A little more on the expensive side, but definitely worth the money. Will definitely be coming back. Also great desserts, and drink menu. Would be great for a nice night out or a special occasion.

My friend and I discovered The Kenwood on a whim this winter (how we both had lived within 15 minutes of the place for years and not known about it until this year is so disappointing). The restaurant itself is tucked away in a quaint neighborhood just off the main drag of Uptown. We sat at the bar with an awesome front row view of their kitchen. Chefs DJ and Luke and owner/chef Don were delightful - good conversation the whole night and also shared some of their cooking techniques and tips with us. We had a couple different servers throughout the night, who were pleasant, knowledgeable about both the food and wine, and attentive without being overbearing. Food was excellent and paired well with the staff's wine recommendations. We have both been back with our families since our first visit and will continue to return!
Kevin Gagner
Had the burrata with peach and peppers. Pretty great lots of non spicy peppers and a pile of cheese. Could have used one more piece of bread but otherwise I was very happy. My wife had omelette (with ham) with breakfast potatoes. The eggs were beautifully fluffy, tomatoes were a nice surprise, and the ham was delicious. Both dishes were even better when they paired together. Great food and quiet patio for weekday brunch.
Nicholas Zimet
We love the Kenwood Restaurant! It has the right combination of delightful atmosphere that allows for good conversation and quiet intimacy without being too pretentious. The food is rock star quality for the price, I especially recommend the delightful Kenwood burger and the unmatched bread pudding it dessert. Brunch on the weekend is also really really good. I feel like this is an underrated Gem of the city.
Zach Finn
We sat down outside and had very speedy service, even though we came in during off hours. Their in-between meals menu was short but delicious. I'd recommend either the grilled asparagus or the pork sandwich. We had our dog with, and they were quick to offer up a water dish and plenty of water for the pups. We will be back! Super easy location for a bite/beer after a walk around the Lake of the Isles. No liquor, good wine selection. Beer selection was fine.
Juan Luca Merino
The food is always great. However the 24% service charge is getting out of control. Don’t get me wrong , I’m all about supporting restaurants and wages , I always tip 20% or more. But now you are getting greedy.
Tim P
Nice cozy neighborhood restaurant. We both ordered the pulled pork and it was very flavorful with a big side greens salad. Definitely order the beef pudding for desert and ask for an extra scoop of the coffee ice cream. Nate was our server and he was friendly and professional.
Tyler Anderson
I had the pleasure of eating at the Kenwood with my family and it was one of the best meals of my life. The service was great, the chef is amazing, and it was an overall great experience. Everyone loved the food. Now more than ever it is a great time to support local businesses, I highly recommend!!
Zaryab Shahid
I am in love with this place and the staff. Can't remember the name of the gentleman that seated me but he was so nice! Our waitress was very friendly and sweet! Food was great! Though I wish their brunch menu had a little more to offer, perhaps more egg options. Going back there soon!
Therese Linderholm
I have had brunch here multiple times and it is always great. Cute little space to sit while you wait for a table, bookstore next door to browse before or after, short blocks away from lake of the isles, and the food is always good each and every time. Share the pancakes with the table. It has something for everyone there.
Judy M.
The Kenwood is every bit as dependably delicious during the pandemic as before this madness descended. Last night we picked up curbside succulent pheasant with wild rice and for dessert, a swoon-worthy pumpkin pot de creme. So very good.
Kristin Johnson
I selected this restaurant for its high ratings on Google and wasn't disappointed! A friend and I arrived at 6 p.m. on a Friday night and were seated right away. Though the dining room is small, the ambience is very classy and elegant. Our server seemed as if she were new and somewhat nervous but was not unapproachable. We both ordered the burger and gushed over how delicious it was. My friend's side order was incorrect when we received our food and she was offered the correct side in addition to what she was brought. The wine and dessert were outstanding, as well. We will definitely return!
John Barcomb
Love the food and the service. Prices are steep and they add 25% (before tip) for a Minneapolis service charge. Will be back, just not very frequently.
Jeff Parnes
Nice, expensive neighborhood restaurant. Everyone enjoyed their selection. Walking distance and the only one around.
Chelsie GawneMark
I love love love this restaurant. Don is amazing. The food is consistently great, the staff well trained, beautiful space/location. When I miss my old marylebone neighbor I come here and feel at home. Perfect omelettes and lovely dairy-free soups (that chilled pea soup...so good) and the picked mustard seeds over a beet carpaccio and the huevos rancheros. I really wish my daily allergy didn't prevent me from trying the pancakes with black walnut butter my children get. Don't hesitate to go here.
Gary Milne Rojek
Have never had a bad meal here. Always above average and often stunningly good. Decent selection of wines, beers, ports...
Fantastic burgers and fries, spectacular seafood specials (had clams with shishito peppers in a seafood broth...extraordinary). The chefs really know their trade here...a bit expensive but you really do get what you pay for here.
Very much like the servers. Calm and agreeable, traditional (GB) atmosphere.
Will be changing to fall seasonal menu this week, I believe.
Per Kvanbeck
We had our wedding dinner here with our immediate family. It was the best meal I've ever had. We were all passing around our plates, begging others to try our wonderful food. I tasted just about the entire dinner menu and it was all to die for. Their brunch is really good too!

So I was so excited about the reviews, had to give this place a try. First walking I noticed the plaid wallpaper, looks very homey with a modern twist. Pictures from earlier reviews made it look very sophisticated. I ordered the simple breakfast with a substitute of pork belly instead of bacon or sausage. PORKBELLY was so juicy and tender seared with maple syrup! Mouth watering def the only wow in my brunch. Then came the romaine salad with some egg dressing and that was basically romaine salad grilled served with unseasoned dressing could have used more acidity and salt very bland. Really disappointing for $10. Then came the Eggs Benedict, they replaced the bun with cornbread which I though was clever. Nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. One thing was missing, flavor it lacked balance, the ham was very salty and everything else had no flavor. Presentation was lacking. Would I come here again. Probably not. Still basic for the price.

The Kenwood has great cuisine. The emphasis is on the quality of the food and blending flavors in a unique way. Wait staff are very good and understated. Gave me two free desserts for my birthday for a party of four.
Snow Farmer
Medium priced place with good ambiance and food. I really enjoyed the Kenwood burger and bread pudding. The service is normally great.
On our 3rd and most recent visit, however, we had subpar service. Our waiter was more interested in chatting with his friends than providing service to our table or the three others in his section. At in english point, there were 4 empty water glasses, an empty bread and butter dish, and two empty ice teas. We sat there waiting for more water. Our food took 45min which is t an issue if the waiter stops by to assure you that food is coming or apologize for being late. In our, 90min visit, he saw us 4 times and the table with his friends at least a dozen times. Poor waiting: please coach
Aldo Walker
Breakfast was great. They have a great spice mix as aside that is awesome with their omelette and spuds. Excellent service. I wish they opened earlier than 8am, but it is tucked away in a neighborhood. Stop by after a run, ride or a paddle around the chain of lakes. You'll be pleased.
Keith Chambers
Had an absolutely incredible dinner tonight!
Our dinner event began with wonderful creamy flavorful cheeses, advanced to incredible salads, delicious entrees paired beautifully with wines and ended with scrumptious desserts!
Thank you to Don and your team! And Thank you to Anna for the special dessert to cap the birthday celebration!
Going to Don’s Kenwood is like returning to a comfortable friend who knows how to intrigue your palate with delights well beyond the evening.
Ed Newman
Good food and service, menu fairly small.
David Middleton
A hamburger or an adventure with Ahi Tuna. Wonderful range of food. Casual, comfortable room. Staff who wants to be there. Expand your palate with a dessert wine. Visited twice in one week because first meal was so good. Family jealous they were not with me on business trip.
Nabil Zeineh
Located in a beautiful neighborhood, a close walk to Lake of the Isles. Very nice place to sit, plenty of windows. Outdoor seating in the summer. Great staff. Burger, eggs Florentine, beer selection, coffee and beet salad all excellent. Long wait on a Sunday morning, 30-40 min
E Thompson
The cheese plate is exquisite! My burger was undercooked when I wanted medium, but they promptly remedied that. I won't hesitate to recommend this restaurant to my family and friends. Nice place to celebrate my husband and my five year anniversary! ♡
Sarah Paulaha
The most charming little restaurant right off the lake. They offer a great wine list, yummy food (esp brunch) and friendly service. Also, we really appreciate the outdoor, pup friendly seating options.
ben johnson
I came here with my family and had the steak tartare and the linguine with clams. The tartare was beautifully balanced in its tanginess and its fullness, and the linguine was very rich and creamy and comforting. Both foods were well suited to the rustic and bold character of the restaurant, with its dark colors and wooden atmosphere. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a very high quality meal without having to deal with the dryness and the presumed significance of a trip to a typical higher class restaurant.
Maria Cote
I have only been for breakfast, and have really enjoyed both the food and atmosphere (and it's right next door to Louise Erdrich's book shop and a stone's throw from Lake of the Isles, so you could easily make a half-day excursion out of it). The menu is short and simple, and also not cheap. $30 for breakfast for one? Ouch. But if you've got it, more power to you.
Kerri Javorka
I really like this spot. It feels fancy but not stiff, and the prices are generally reasonable for the quality of the menu. However, I have to comment on the "Cheddar grits" with "bacon and chantarelle mushrooms" which I ordered for brunch today. For a $16 dish, it was a tiny serving of grits, the poached egg was desperately overcooked and the bacon was sparser than a senator's work ethic, as were the mushrooms. The other dish my friend and I ordered was a delight-- the gravlax tartine-- and the mimosas are generous and well balanced. Overall, I like this restaurant! but I urge the management to not Skimp on the Grits!
Steven Langford
Like many of us during COVID, I attempted to pick up the art of cooking in our months of isolation. Spending more time at home to practice the craft of treating ourselves to better, more delicious food. When I churned out a “Thomas Kinkade” level meal, I was plenty proud. Mixing and matching spices and ingredients that I was all too familiar with … But when I came into The Kenwood, I realized very quickly that we have Picassos, we have Van Goghs out there still. It just reminds me that having artists like Joel and his staff out there in the world makes us all better, all healthier, all happier. I’d give it 6 stars if I could!
Andy Giles
In a wolrd where every restaurant has a stylish atmosphere and fancy sounding menu but only serves mediocre food this place actually delivers!
I've not been so impressed by an eggs bene in quite some time. The food is both creative and quality like you will rarely find.
Anna Minneapolis
The pulled pork sandwich was to die for, and the French fries... A big portion! Both together was only $12! The wine was $9, a nice dry pino grigio. Lovely atmosphere, attentive staff. I hear breakfast and daily brunch are wonderful.
heidi cleveland
although i've been forever sad about this restaurant being in the spot of the former market, my brunch today was amazing! the staff was so friendly and the food was delicious! it was a tad bit loud for my my mother's hearing ability (or lack of!), as it got quite crowded, but that's an issue everywhere except church. i look forward to going back!
Louis Ainsworth
Our favorite neighborhood restaurant of all times - and we don't even live in the neighborhood! Especially love Don's creative cuisine, especially sweetbreads, when they're on the menu. Also appreciate the line's skill at turning out these gems night after night. Presentations are always good - but the taste is even better. See you there.
Alex Nowak
Everything from the moment you walk in the door is pleasant and quaint. They have a little lounge area if there’s a bit of a wait, or you can always talk to the host and get a drink while you wait. Our server was fantastic and checked in multiple times to make sure we were ok. The pancakes with black walnut butter is a must, and the huevos rancheros are some of the best in the country (literally).
Erin E.C. Bracke
Hands down the best brunch in the Twin Cities. Braden is our favorite waiter, although everyone here is kind and professional. You will enjoy a truly special experience with carefully crafted dishes, cocktails and a charming environment.
Michelle Engstrom
Grabbed takeout to eat at the nearby park. Great service, and good food. I got the pulled pork sandwich that was really good. The fries were just ok, but that could be the nature of take out.
Anton Dmytrenko
Went for breakfast on a Saturday- got there at 10am - 15 minutes for a table by the time we left there was a line out of the door. Three of us were clean plate club- fuegos rancheros had a lot of meat, eggs Benedict really good and walnut butter pancakes- very substantial. I would pass on the sausage side order next time- tasted a little gamey for me. Excellent service lots of items to ponder. $9 Bloody Mary and mimosa a little pricey but I would definitely go back and take a nice walk around lake of the isles
Veronika Skor
One of my favorite restaurants although I have a love/hate relationship with them not taking reservations! Brunch is fantastic as are lunch and dinner. Breakfast menu is more limited. Menu changes I want to say seasonally. Fav dishes: huevos rancheros, mussels with fries, bread pudding.
No cocktails served - just beer and wine
Kenneth Wong
Best burger I ever had. Very juicy burger with a gooey egg and a smoky slice of pork. My wife loves her dish too which was the scallop dish. Would love to go back if we visit Minneapolis again.
Jerry & Elaine Green
I would expect the chefs to be more aware and cognizant of persons who must eat gluten free, with the increasing numbers for whom this restriction is essential, not optional. The food items we were served were very good but options are limited by foods containing gluten where the chefs could easily make substitutions.
Garek Berard
This place is a hidden gem. The surrounding area is so beautiful for a summer walk. The food and service has been wonderful every time I go there. There is a corner two seater booth that my girlfriend and I request every time. The old pictures of the Kenwood area on the walls are so charming.
Parker Patterson
The Kenwood offers high quality brunches and dinners, and features a snack menu between mealtimes.
Seating at the open kitchen is perfect for dining alone -- or bring a date and enjoy the Kenwood neighborhood from the sidewalk patio.
Tickets for special tasting menus can be purchased for holidays like Valentine's and New Years.
Make sure to try the moules frites. And don't forget to dress nicely!
MTBMN
It was good but for a person who doesnt go to rich people places often it was kinda overwhelming. If your a first timer and dont dress the spot youll get a lot of weird looks and it kinda makes you feel like you dont belong. The menu is kinda confusing i didnt know where the appetizers were but the food was good (even though i didnt know what anything was) and prices were decent, aside from the 80$ steak
Romy Sharma
Great atmosphere, service & breakfast, but disappointing coffee machine. My boyfriend and I come here once every couple of months as ritual; I have to give it 4 stars because their espresso machine has been broken 3 of 4 of our last visits. For such great lattes, their broken machine has become a consistent disappointment every time we make the trip.
M F
I went to brunch at the Kenwood in February 2018 and had a great experience. My date and I shared the Huevos rancheros and panini sandwich, which were both incredible. The Huevos was probably the best I’ve ever had in my life! We requested that they scramble/fry the egg so that it isn’t too runny because under the egg is shredded pulled pork and I like to keep that dry. The Huevos comes with a house made hot sauce which is so good. The sandwich was also really good and came with a refreshing side salad. Good portion size, easy to share. Service is excellent.
Ian Urfali
First time here, a small hidden gem. Great service, friendly cooks (I sat at the bar), prompt service, and food that’s got me writing a 5 star review. So to say the least, I’ll be back. I had the Heuvos Rancheros, a classic, and they nailed it. Try their selection of Pastries, super good.
Diana Sullivan
Great local neighborhood restaurant! Love the outside space! Always fun choices! The fish was excellent tonight! Cheese plate had wonderful choices too. A favorite of ours for many years now!
Mark Hewitt
Very very nice place to eat. Simple menu but very well done. Food was fantastic. Service excellent. Open kitchen so you can see what's going on. A little hidden gem.
Nathan Briscoe
Going for the first time I liked it a lot. Everything from the atmosphere to the staff was on point. The food was well proportioned, flavor was well balanced and had great mouth feel (hope I'm using that term correctly). I will certainly be going back
Anne Silverman
We live in the neighborhood and Don Saunders is the nicest guy, so we're happy to support this local spot. The plaid wallpaper and cozy feel are perfect for a cold winter day. I only wish the menu was a little more varied.
Dan M
Good food, friendly staff, seemed like I may not have been cool enough to be there.
At the time of my visit outdoor seating was available which overlooked a school playground. Everyone there was talking and having a good time, it just had that kind of atmosphere.
Samuel Adams
Delicious food, wonderful service, cozy atmosphere.
Willard Ward
Retrieving a small handkerchief from my breast pocket, I carefully cleaned my wire framed lenses before examining further. But alas, I couldn't recognize a single person on that wall, even after taking down each picture and inquiring the subject's identity with the staff. I've begun to doubt if the people in those paintings ever existed!
Best dinner in town!
K Johnson
A Minneapolis gem. Upscale food in an elegant but casual setting. Fabulous wine selection, excellent service, and friendly neighborhood regulars. A great place to stop in after a walk around the lakes.
Nick Peterson
Hand to god, one of my favorite restaurants in Minneapolis. I’m a big fan of the Pancakes with Black Walnut Butter. It would be hard to find a stack of cakes this good located west of the Mississippi. But if you don’t want to feel weighed down, the Heuvos Rancheros is my next recommendation. It tastes fantastic, and has the added benefit of making your Instagram feed pop with some color. Breakfast is one of the best times to go in, especially during the week to best weekend rushes. Stop in, grab a coffee, catch up on some news, and indulge in great food.
Reuben Mendoza
Love this place! Amazing dinner menu. Have brunch outside while watching your kiddos play at the playground across the street. Stop by Birch Bark books nextdoor after eating. Maybe go for a walk around Lake of the Isles. :)
Michael McDonald
Food was delicious, lovely quiet place to sit outside and have dinner with friends.
Alexa Navis
One of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The ambience is cozy and perfect, and the food is absolutely incredible.
Michelle Ashley
My husband and I had an early dinner, and we were blown away at the service and the food was simply amazing! A quiet romantic atmosphere, for great conversation with your loved one.
Space Snaxxx
Quiet little restaurant in the Isles area. Cocktails are well-crafted and atmosphere is bright but subdued. Nice outdoor seating in the summer if you're lucky to get a seat.
Brian McLean
Great staff, environment and food! Tried a bit of everything. Grilled asparagus panzenella, roasted beets with sea beans, halibut with coucous, whole grilled branzino and ricotta ravioli. Had no favorites, couldn't pick one...
Valbona Bushi
Simple and classic menu. Made it out for a work dinner and enjoyed the fish appetizer and steak meal. Easy street parking.
X Mode
Great food & service. Ate here our 1st day in the area & our server gave us some great tips on places to visit. The portions are big, especially for the price.
Russell Pruitt
This is a great place that you have to know about to find. Tucked away a few blocks off of Lake of the Isles their menu is always fun and interesting. The ambiance is excellent, and their staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. If you haven’t been you should definitely make it a priority to check it out.
Rob Lord
Decent food (had the burger) but not incredible. The decor is very old-school but it fits the demographic of the neighborhood. Would eat there again if someone else picked it out.
Sharon
Cozy spot near Lake of the Isles. Expertly prepared food (we ate breakfast) with simple a la carte menu and wonderful flavors. Affordable. Our family enjoyed it very much!
Kevin
Very tasty food. The Kenwood burger might be my favorite burger in the cities and the huevos rancheros give it a run for the money. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu
David Sepulveda
My wife and I love brunch and this restaurant did not disappoint. It is a small shop but really beautiful and the food was great. The service was attentive and kind.
Vic W
Delightful little Vintage Cafe pretty close to Hidden Beach. I tried the eggs benedict and it was absolutely heavenly! This place will always have a spot in my heart.
Todd Leafman
My wife and I really enjoyed our dinner here. The food was good and the servers were very nice to us. Would definitely recommend for a date night.
TianTian Eats
Brunch Food:
-Huevos rancheros, just okay in terms of taste, but by far the most elegant version I've seen compared to the typical sloppiest-pile-of-heart-attack-on-a-plate everywhere else
-Beef tongue hash with ramps/poached eggs/bernaise, good, enjoyed this better than the huevos rancheros
-Belgian waffle with pork belly/pineapple/maple/marscarpone, definitely the best out of the three! I've got the biggest sweet and fat tooth, impossible to go wrong with belgian waffle + maple + pork belly
Setting:
-Decent service
-Classy but casual west calhoun setting with a bunch of sensible-looking classy/professional/old people, no spotting of uptown hipster-frat-monkeys
Eric Larsson
This has got to be the friendliest professional staff in the twin cities. Everyone, from the cooks in the open kitchen to the wait staff to the hosts, greet you as a familiar guest and go out of their way to serve you.
Carli Fountain
Never a disappointing experience. Always attentive service and great food. One of our favorite brunch spots in the cities!
Charles Swanson
Always sensational food and service. It is a chef centered restaurant where the chef actually is on the line cooking. Don Saunders runs a great place.
Jennifer Nightingale
The Kenwood is the best brunch we’ve ever had! Love the atmosphere and everything on the menu is delicious. The wait staff and chefs are awesome!
Jay Dacey
Great lunch and brunch menus (haven't been for dinner yet). Everything we've tried has been very enjoyable and it's one of my favorite places in the Twin Cities.
Elmer Stunkel
Excellent! The menu is a lot of fun, and the ambiance is very befitting of the neighborhood. Service was elegant and well paced, even during the mid-day lull. Looking forward to returning.
Brent Lowry
Be careful! They serve "breakfast" before 10. Not brunch. The menu is much more limited! The wait times between the breakfast and brunch times gets long very quickly.
C C
Excellent menu with a good balance of foods. The salmon and the grits are outstanding. Same for the pork belly.
Highly recommended
Tony Anderson
Holy crap. This place. Thought I was in France - Burgundy to be specific. Excellent farm to table restaurant with dishes that reflect the seasons. I had the eggs in cocotte and lost my mind. Glass of white Burgundy to pair - swore I was in Gevrey Chambertin or Chambolle Musigny. In love. We will be back....
Kent Levi
The venue is similar to a traditional woods mixed with Parisian cafe. The fare is carefully selected and prepared. The service has a superb balance. Memorable experience.
Leah Brooks
One of the best breakfast spots we've visited in the cities. Food was fantastic and the bloody was on par with nightingale (our current favorite body spot.)
SweetsAndSnow

Went for lunch on a weekend - menu limited to appetizers - yet classy, filling and delicious! Quaint neighborhood, street parking, cozy interior. Will be going back!
Sagar Patel
Beautiful atmosphere and love the interior vibe. Expect a wait. Cool neighborhood. Brunch menu was pricey for the quantity/quality.
Andrew Gordon
The food here has never let us down. It can get crowded for weekend brunch, but otherwise, it's a cozy neighborhood spot with excellent food.
