A Unique Burger Joint with a great atmosphere, friendly service, and very good food. There was a shuffle board table and a large room in the back for private events. I had the Cobb Salad with Blue Cheese dressing and Seared Tuna. It was very enjoyable (and gone when I was finished). The lettuce fresh and crisp. Avocados were beautiful and freshly cut. The bacon thick and tasty. The highlight was the seared tuna - excellent! The rest of the fixings were equally great. I was out to dinner with a number of co-workers. Another also had a Cobb with Turkey - she loved it. The rest of the group ordered a mix of their Burgers. There wasn't a bad dish served and all said they'd be back for more. Definitely worth trying if you're looking for a nice place with great food and service.

Cool atmosphere and seemed like a great place to stop in for a couple of drinks. I thought the chicken sandwich was good; the onion rings were a little undercooked when we are there. My dad enjoyed his burger and fries, although the fries also seemed to be undercooked (dark in color but soft inside). Service was fine. Overall a decent place for a quick bite; nothing was wrong, but nothing really stood out either.

Fantastic food and drink selection. Cocktails are made well and the beer list is vast and exciting. Perfectly cooked fries and tots, crispy but not overdone. The burgers were also good and I have to recomend the fried chicken sandwich, one of the better ones I've had in the area. Patio is dog friendly.

The interior has a cool vibe with industrial decorations. Food was ok— the burgers didn’t have a ton of flavor and the nachos barely had toppings. Would recommend going during happy hour before 6.

Ordered the Tater Tot Hot Dish. It was really really really hot temperature wise, I had to let it sit for about 5 minutes and it was still really really hot but cold enough to eat. It tasted super super good though, very flavorful. Ate half of it and then took the rest to go. The server was super chill, very prompt with any requests and also suggested hot sauce that goes with the Hot Dish.

Can't go wrong with a burger place. The burger was delicious and they give you a bucketful of fries. I was also really happy to see that half their menu was vegan!! Even though I got a beef burger that night, usually I really enjoy fake meat burgers and eating vegetarian. The staff was really nice and the service was speedy.

The saving factors of the visit today was the waiter/waitress. They’re operating under staffed and still killing it.s Food was decent. Great if you’re eating a drinking; helps soak up the alcohol. Cooks messed up our order twice but like I said, they’re operating with less staff and we asked for vegan food first thing. I ask you be patient with them cause they’re really doing everything they can. Would come again. Street parking is decent if you go at 12p when we did. - Update 8/30/22: Still a four star rating but this place has no business offering vegan food if their cooks don’t understand what cooking vegan entails. Real cheese on tots that come with a vegan burger and butter on the bun of the burger makes the meal not vegan anymore. I don’t understand cheese on truffle tots to begin with. Every time we’ve come I’ve had to send my food back to fix because the cooks did something wrong. I’ll just stick to beer. They also charge a $2.55 fee if you’re not paying in cash, which is the first time I’ve noticed this since we started frequenting.

Amazing place. I could sit and stare at the fantastic mural behind the bar forever. Their beer selection is impressive! So many craft options to choose from. Ordering was quick, and the food was fast and great. The staff was friendly, not just for my friend and me, but in how they interacted with regulars and newcomers. My tots were fast and great. Very crispy and didn't go soggy. The pretzel burger was ok...maybe it would've been better with stronger-tasting cheeses or some seasoning to the burger. But the fruit....wow. I was expecting a small bowl of grapes, but what I got was amazing!

Cocktails were perfect. Service was some of the best I've had. The food...was better on the menu. Lots of cheese and salt and seasonings and mayo, which covered up what might have been some of the best food in town. Regardless, I love seeing so many vegetarian/vegan options!

Friendly staff. Great selection of drinks and draft beers. Appetizers are delicious. Update 8/7/22: we stopped by for a Sunday afternoon outing. The place was much busier than our visit right after COVID! The menu is much more extensive but the service is still very friendly and the Blood Mary is great! Btw- this is a dog friendly place, with water and food for your pooch in the outdoor area.

Unfortunately probably won't be back, just due to the poor service and the staff wasn't friendly and hardly acknowledged us. From my understanding they are short staffed which I can certainly understand! But when there isn't many people in there and the staff are all together talking and joking, it's hard not to feel like they just don't care. However, the food was great! We are vegan so it was fantastic that they had so many options for vegans! And the ciders we had were great too. So food wise, it was great! Customer service 👎 but maybe it was just a bad day? It looked really nice in there too, cool lights, art, and music! (Bill was $77 for 2 vegan sliders, side of fries, vegan hot dog(came with chips), and 4 drinks on tap if youre wondering price range!)

I always love it here, I always forget the portion size is huge! I love the options for seasonings you can get with the curds or tots. The team is really attentive and makes sure you have everything you need. Half of the fun is looking around at all of the dog themed art.

They have a dog friendly patio that is just great! Super friendly staff, and the food we had, did not disappoint. Our dog Eva, got her own water bowl and enjoyed laying out in the sun. If you are looking for a place to eat, and you are like myself, and want to take your dog everywhere you go, This place is a must.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Stray Dog last night...from the greeting by the host, to our waitress, to the wonderful food. Our waitress, Natalie, despite being the only waitress, was engaging, willing to spend time chatting and making recommendations. The burgers and tots were outstanding!

Burgers, beers and environment are great and very good service until someone comes and tells you that you need to move away because this table is reserved. Even if you wanna another beer, you can have it somewhere else. So make sure that how long you have your table. Three starts in behalf of good people there.

Came in on a slow chilly Sunday evening. Place was very dead and looked as though they'd be closing early. Bartender was extremely kind and attentive. Ordered a coke and Tater Tot Hot Dish. If you're drunk, stoned, have a big appetite, or didn't eat all day, get this dish. Picture a French dip with brussel sprout and put it over a plate of tater tots, that's it. Git the spot. I couldn't remember the bartenders name, but he has been at Stray Dog for 14 years, and I could say he was one of the best bartenders I had. Would go back again and hope for the same bartender.

Heart of NearNE MPLS. This is the warmest spot in the funky little neighborhood on the other side of the river from downtown. Hard to find a better bar. Really great food. Top notch beer selection. Fun spot to belly up. Recommendations: chuckwagon, truffle tots, rotator tap from castle danger or indeed.

Update: Everyone should get carry out from here right now! We've ordered twice in the last week. The food is just as good as dine in because of their careful packaging. The tots are still crispy when you get home and the burgers are still warm and perfectly cooked. In spite of everything that is going on, their staff is still incredibly friendly and accommodating. Finally, their social distancing measures are TOP NOTCH. I cannot say enough about the Stray Dog and I look forward to my next meal from here. Original post: This is one of my favorite places to eat. Everything on the menu is consistently amazing and the staff is friendly, helpful, and attentive. I absolutely love coming here.

Located at the old bullbog location on North Minneapolis don't let that deter you. Head chef of the bulldog is now the owner of the joint. We had the ahi tuna and were blown away with how fresh and delicious it was. A must order in my book. We went with two signature burgers (Rooster and New Yorker) they recommended. My buddy ordered truffle tots while I order hand cut fried with Fennel with Tarragon Aioli. Both were really good but I was a huge fan of the Rooster burger due to the flavor of the house sauces they put on it and the truffle tots are amazing. Had a cupcake at the end because, well, this isn't a healthy meal and why not. Super impressed and look forward to going back. $$

My family and I had a chance to eat a late lunch at Stray Dog and loved our experience! The food was delicious and the staff were fabulous. We felt as if we were in the best of hands. My husband had the pastrami sandwich which he loved! My son had a hamburger and fries while my daughter had the BLT and chips - they loved every bite! I am the only vegan in the family and was pleased to get an impossible burger with vegan cheese! I have the fennel fries which were so good dipped in a bit of mustard. We had such a great meal and will go back again once we are in town!

ATMOSPHERE: It's a long restaurant in the heart of downtown northeast Minneapolis. Fun bar atmosphere with a huge mural of northeast, a shuffleboard a bunch of paintings of dogos. SERVICE: Kind and fast-my favorite type! FOOD: Omg, these burgers will blow you away. So damn good. Plus a generous handful of fries or tots. The flavor combinations were perfection. As a bonus, it's very veggie-friendly with half the menu dedicated to non-meat eaters! Def on the spendier side, we paid ~$17 a burger but worth it!

I'm always impressed when I come here. Their beer selection is fantastic, they have some flavor on their cocktail menu that also translates to a great mocktail menu, I'm a huge fan of meat but their vegetarian menu is impressive from my point of view and their food has never disappointed. If you haven't tried it I highly suggest giving it a go.

Stopped in here after reading about this place on our drive down. Menu seemed awesome with tons of options. The service was great! The host was friendly and quick to seat us. The server was incredibly polite and treated us like we were regulars. You can't beat that! The food was fantastic. I ordered the Chuckwagon. The sandwich was a little small, but the flavor was not! Delicious cuts of meat stacked on a hot, soft roll. Held together with a sweet sauce of sorts, then topped with a smooth garlic aioli. I had a side of fennel fries, not really my thing as they're heavily seasoned. But, a little shake to ditch the excess and they were alright. Everything was piping hot. Which was great! The drink selection was vast. I don't remember the beer I ordered. Mainly because that sandwich out shined it 10 to 1. Not saying the beer was bad, just that the sandwich was that good. Atmosphere of the place was a weird mix of old warehouse and upscale bar. Very unique place to dine for sure. If you're in the area I suggest you stop by. It's on our lists of go-to spots in the Twin Cities and I look forward to my next visit.

This is a great place to grab drinks or food with friends. Their food is great and they have TONS of vegetarian options. I've been here several times now, the food and drinks always amaze me. It's a very unique place with dog paintings hanging from every wall. I had dinner but brunch looked great as well. They have a ton of beer on tap as well.

The Junk Burger was amazing. Juicy, toppings were excellent and the fries were very well prepared. Driving near downtown Minneapolis can be tense at times, but parking was surprisingly easy for someone coming in from the suburbs.

Nachos were amazing. Services was on the slow side. We asked for our bill and sat out on the patio watching our server stand inside and talk for about 25 minutes before we had to go in and ask for it again. Would prolly go back just for the nachos though

Im so so disappointed and disheartened by my last visit. Ive been going here for multiple weekends because their burgers are so delicious and their truffle fries are so yummy. However what i thought was a normal typical friday happy hour there our server surprised us with rude comments, forgetting multiple orders and messing up orders and then not removing the mistake off the tab. She talked about us pointed and rolled her eyes in plain sight to other tables and coworkers about us. If you have a problem or an issue please dont be fake and lie to our face just tell us what is wrong and it can be fixed in a respectful manner. I asked for a separate togo order ordered it asked multiple times is this ok to order are you to busy i said thank you multiple times and she said no problem. I never got that togo order (waited an hour) and when asked about it she said its coming but it never was shown on the tab. Then after asking us if we wanted to tab spilt she gave us the tab unsplit and said “ you have to figure it out” we did we gave her 5 cards to split the tab which we previously discussed with her. There were 4 tabs equal to 31.25$ and one tab total 7.81…do the math it does not equal 187.50 which was our tab total so we noticed this mistake and paid extra to make up for her mistake instead of bothering her because she was very annoyed and upset for an unknown reason. We understand the restaurant business is awful right now we did not complain but we honestly don’t understand how the tab was split this way. Then on top of that i checked my bank and i have been charged two times , once 187.50 (total tab) and a second for the 31.25$. Update: the incorrect charge was removed and I emailed the owner but no response yet. Again the food is amazing here!!

Pretty good!! We were expecting the Bulldog because we hadn't heard of the switch. Some old Bulldog classics are on the menu, but I opted for the Chuckwagon. It was delicious and huge! They need to up their coffee game though. Hubs ordered coffee and while he said it was good, it was like pulling teeth to get sugar and cream. But we'll go back, server was good.

Stray Dog?!?!?!!!?!! More like Hot Dog!!!!! Me and my friend Nate were wondering the streets of Minneapolis....much like stray dogs ourselves. When all hope seemed lost, there in the distance...a light shone down on us! It was light from the Stray dog grill! We were saved!!! No longer aimlessly on the streets! We had a home....no....we had a family! I ordered the mushroom swiss burger...there isn't a combination of words in the English dictionary to describe the perfection of taste that entered my body that day. Mushrooms imported from the himmelays, swish cheese from the deep mines of Chilé, burger from the cows grazing the grass of Norway, and bread from heaven. Great "hole in the wall" place to grab unique fare and drinks in a laid back setting. I had the Bourbon Brown Butter burger and it was fantastic - great flavor! Service was outstanding and extremely personable. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a flavorful bite in downtown!

Perhaps the best burgers in town. They are one of the few places with a dedicated vegetarian menu. I have tried their vegan spicy and fried chicken burger. Both were delicious, and so was the Moscow Mule. The interiors are quite fun too.

Stray Dog is the perfect place to host a private party. Their Alley cat room has plenty of space to move around and socialize with large groups. We hosted a bachelorette party where we played games and were up and about with plenty of space. Everyone loved the atmosphere & food, we were well cared for and had a blast with the staff too. My expectations were greatly exceeded. Awesome, fun, down-to-earth, lively yet still cozy atmosphere. Really geat service. Amazing food... some of the best vegetarian pub fare I've had in the whole country. By far. Don't even get me started on how good the beer is... Diverse and high quality tap selection that we really enjoyed! Also within walking distance of some other cool spots. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the city!

We ordered from here on door dash. The food came quickly. The menu is HUGE, with many vegetarian (and some vegan) options, including beyond and bean burger substitutes. Big kids menu with veg options, too. The kids Mac and cheese seems likes it's Kraft, which we were disappointed by but some people's kids want that. The side options are numerous! Lots of seasoning options, too. The Bourbon Butter burgers and beyond we're great, but I was disappointed that my slider app was just ONE slider, for $7.00. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the fires were UNDERCOOKED. We got a partial refund thru door dash.

Edit: (1 star added) after my review below, the manager reached out promptly to address my concerns. I look forward to going back to this establishment in the near future to see if the experience improved. Overall, I have been satisfied with how the manager approached things. Original review (2 star): Large and good beer selection. Happy prices were reasonable. Everything else about the experience was very poor. Service was practically non-existent (despite the bar being relatively not busy). Ambiance seemed depressed and the music choices reflected a somber mood. Food was slow to arrive. No silverware was provided. I was very underwhelmed by the nachos, which had few toppings. I had to track the server down to order another drink after he left our table stranded for over 30 minutes. Server seemed annoyed. Perhaps I caught the establishment on an off night...

Always a pleasant time when coming here with a group. Food is very good, atmosphere is pleasant, and the dog stuff are dope. Can get pretty busy and loud inside, but does have an outdoor front and side patio. Service can be hit-or-miss with regards to time, so maybe not the best place to be while in a time crunch, but it's only happened once in my many visits here.

Ordered take out, but by the time a got there, a delivery driver had stolen it. I had been waiting for awhile, and by the time decide to ask them about my order, they had already inquired in the kitchen on my behalf. When they realized it had been stolen, they went above and beyond to accommodate me, and make it up to me. The order was out just a few minutes after that, and the food was incredible.

Super nice location close to the Stone arch bridge, plenty of seating and close to transport. I really loved our service with very friendly and efficient staff. Their menu is super expansive with a lot of things I will definitely be returning to try. There is also a major focus on options for non meat eaters, like more options for Beyond Burgers than I have seen most anywhere else I’ve been. The beyond burger I ordered was the Smoky with Cheese and it was delicious, there seems to be a choice for almost anyone there. Definitely check this place out if you are in the area!

Have been going to stray dog for awhile. We love getting their burgers and seasoned tots there. My favorite is the truffle tots and I am still trying every burger on their menu. They have plenty of vegetarian and vegan options as well which you normally don't see at burger joints. We had exceptional service at the bar the other day.

Edit: my apologies for some reason it had posted a drafted review from earlier. Sorry about that! Here was the newer updated one. Appreciate the depth of vegetarian and vegan options. The vegetarian chili was okay and very bland. But the sliders were so good … vegan bbq with beyond😋 However, they should use something to differentiate between vegetarian/vegan from meat. My first time coming here & I can say I was very pleased. A lively restaurant with a modern/rustic feel from the gold plated molding on the ceilings, the darker furniture, & brick wall. They had lots of vegetarian/vegan options, especially the beyond burgers. Everything was very delicious I tried the wontons as an appetizer, I definitely recommend. The pricing was a little high for some burgers & one appetizer but it’s fine. I also loved the dog theme. Will definitely come again!

Food was expensive. You pull the drink menu up on their website by playing Where's Waldo with the QR code in the food menu. Hint: it's the QR code hiding in the stray dog logo. Food was pretty on point though. The side "patio" (really just sidewalk) is kind of noisy from cars and wind, and the door in and out of the building didn't seem to have a handle as I watched a server struggle to get back in.

Overall, we had a decent experience. A few pieces of advice for ownership: - For the food you offer, the prices are too high, especially when you charge extra for sides. The burgers aren’t worth $19. - Definitely change the Brussel sprout recipe. The soggy sprouts were very unimpressive. - The seating seemed way too close for comfort. We sat in the middle booth between two other boots and were less than a foot away from other heads. Service was fine and the beer was good... just came out thinking everything was alright at best.

Stopped in for a Friday lunch. I'll start off by saying great atmosphere and cool bar overall. I had the Chuckwagon sandwich (Sausage, ham and cheese basically) and my wife had the Stuffed Pretzel bacon cheeseburger. The sandwich was good and nice and greasy, her burger was also tender and tasty. I got truffle tater tots for my side and she got the normal fries, both were excellent! We'll definitely be back to try more of their menu options. Side notes: Maybe a little pricey for what it is, $15 ish burgers and sandwiches. Patio is a little small and has a tall fence so no view. Service could be seen as a little slow but that didn't bother me because I don't like to be hovered over by the staff.

Very affordable date night spot, I think 2 meals and a couple of beers was a little over $30. I love the interior of this place, they also have outdoor seating if that is your thing. Exceptional food in EVERY category! I've long loved eating at the Stray Dog and was happy that my recent takeout order was just as good as dining-in. I love that they have amazing burgers available that taste just as good as a black-bean or other meatless options. The side salad overflowed a traditional salad bowl and was so incredibly green and fresh. The truffle cheese curds were delicious, especially with the garlic aioli, but the real show-stealer was the toasted marshmallow milkshake I ordered, which was full of really toasty marshmallow bits. Yum! And lots of convenient parking for curbside pick-up.

Our group of four went to the Stray Dog for a casual meal of upscale bar food and that is what we got. We sat on the spartan patio and ordered beers, appetizers, and burgers. In addition to the standard burger/fries pub fare, the restaurant has a number of vegan/vegetarian offerings including Not Dogs and Impossible Burgers. We began with onion rings (Excellent - crispy, hot, and delicious.) and caramelized Brussel sprouts (Steamed with a watery sauce. Decidedly not caramelized! We sent them back.). My wife and I shared the Smoky Cheddar burger and the Rooster burger. Both of the burgers were very, very good. Don't be scared by the "rooster sauce" - a blend of Sriracha and mayo (?). It was only slightly spicy. The sides are worth mentioning. We got "Togarashi fries" (fries dusted with the Japanese condiment, which is a dry chili pepper blend) and the Texas chili. The fries were good, but the chili - OMG! The chili alone is worth a trip to the restaurant. It is a true, no bean Texas chili loaded with savory shredded beef brisket. Best thing that I had that evening. Bottom line: upscale bar food, high quality burgers, middling ambiance (at least on the patio), AWESOME chili. Skip the Brussel sprouts.

10 months ago, I gave a poor review of this restaurant and I have to create a do-over. My first experience here did not go so well. I started work in the neighborhood last year, and gave them another chance. The food and service have consistently been phenomenal since. The wontons are to die for as well as their rooster burger/rooster sliders. The onion rings are delicious too with a huge portion size. As of today, I have zero complaints, and it happens to now be one of my favorite places to eat. I highly recommend.

First the service was spectacular on both visits, in addition the staff is fun, involved, and have great attitudes. The wings are full of flavor and some of the best in town. Dined with 5 friends on a recent Saturday evening. Menu selection was diverse and vegan/vegetarian menu was well presented. Simple things like water carafes, extra utensils and napkins were tableside. Food was served soon after ordering; temperature, portion and presentation were spot-on. Thank God for our professional server. She was attentive, cordial and never once asked the death knell question: "How's your food tasting so far." Lastly, the availability of an ample, reserved off street parking lot enhanced the appeal of The Stray Dog. Kudos to the staff for a great dining experience.

Solid place overall. I really enjoyed my Club Sandwich, New Yorker Burger, Wings and Negroni. I was not a huge fan of my steak tartare. My first visit to this restaurant was with a friend of mine based on his recommendation and his love for burgers. We shared the Tuna Tartare appetizer which was absolutely incredible. Every bite exploded with flavor in your mouth, very well seasoned . The Tuna Tartare appetizer almost overshadowed the burger. The Mushroom and Swiss burger called out to me but I chose to add bacon. After looking at their menu, I decided to upgrade my fries to include the Parmesan and truffle oil which was remarkable. The fries could not have been any tastier. My burger was supposed to be Medium rare but it came out medium. It was not as juicy as I had hoped for, but the flavor and portion size was sufficient. I ordered a Double Tall Captain Coke which was warm and watered down. And unfortunately all Tap Beer was not available due to a issue with the Glycol or something with the compressor temperature. The atmosphere was nice, kindy trendy but not too loud and the Bartender was funny and very nice. There was enough room in the place to feel comfortable. As for the value, I had spent more than I expected, Bill was $76.00 for 2 with Tip I paid $92.00, but I believe it was worth it to find this treasure. Will I return? Shu' Betcha

Met some friends for brunch at The Stray Dog, hadn't been there since it was Bulldog NE. I had the BLT, which was impressive and good enough that I ate the whole thing even though I knew I would be totally stuffed. Everything was great, one star off because they were out of cupcakes!

We went to the Stray Dog today for brunch. The service was good. My food wasn't great, but others in my party seemed to enjoy theirs. I ordered the eggs benedict, which comes with a salad and parmesan potatoes. The dressing on the salad was good. The potatoes were very crispy, but the parmesan was just dumped on top. The eggs benedict was pretty flavorless. The Canadian bacon was probably closer to ham. The English muffin was really half an English muffin divided in two. Probably not somewhere I'd need to go again.

Latest review: I retried the Cubano because you said you typically have good feedback on it. Still not happy with it. Not enough pork, and it was dry and not very flavorful. Please, get rid of the spicy mustard. Just go with classic yellow mustard like every good proper Cubano does. More butter on the outside of the roll as you press it, and don't let it turn into a thin hard piece of dry cardboard. I sincerely hope you fix this sandwich because everything else I've had on your menus is several notches above this. Old review: upgrading to 5 stars because the staff is great and wasn't a jerk when learning I didn't like their Cuban. I tried the Chuckwagon and it was a huge improvement. That thing is gushing with flavor and meat. Older review: Not my favorite Cuban, just okay. Needed a lot more meat, and the bread was too thin and too toasted. But... The truffle mayo fries were absolutely fantastic.

We went because I was hoping for truffle something and thought it was still the Bulldog. Stray Dog is in its place and kept some yummy truffle items on their menu. I got a Chuckwagon and was blown away! Soooo good!! My partner got a tuna melt and was also blown away. All the food we tried was great and we've been back few times now. Four stars only because the service hasn't always been as good as the food and last time the server was a bit aloof and seemed judgemental.

Best burgers this side of the Mississippi, a staff that makes you feel like your at home with friends, and beers that will tickle every tastebud on the tongue. I can't recommend this place enough.

It was okay. The biscuits and gravey had no flavor. The milkshakes were also sooooo small!!!!!!!! I am used to the milkshakes that give you a glass and the blender cup. This was a 12 oz glass. And for 7 dollars, that is almost 2 dollars per oz of milkshake. It is not worth it.

But then I go in for a hungover Sunday brunch and boom, pow, kazam (insert old school batman n robin)... Exactly what I needed.
