Reviews of STEPCHLD
Gotta say everyone in our party of seven seemed very satisfied with their food. The menu looked sparse until I noticed that each item was elevated just enough to be special. The sweet potato appetizer we shared was quite tasty! My Ethiopian tacos were delicious.... 😋 no surprise, since the owner is ethnically African. The staff did a nice job for service, etc. even though they were shorthanded. Cozy ambiance too.
So: Return? Yes.
Recommend? Yes.
Rating? 🌟🌟🌟🌟/5 stars. 😉
(A couple small glitches.... it's hard to be perfect.)
The whole place was an ABSOLUTE VIBE!! the music, dim lighting, the plants decorating the walls and ceiling. Just made for a nice relaxed ambiance. All the staff I encountered were extra friendly and very helpful with the menu. The food I tried was good, the burger and the sweet potato balls. My friend had a kale/ orange salad and it was ok, nothing special in my opinion it needed some of green leaf veggies in there to break up the hard kale texture. My French fries would of been better if they weren’t shoestring fries. But overall very satisfied with this place. Perfect for a nice date night or a chill night out.
Absolutely loved our experience here. Great food, Great vibes! Every detail from the feel of the silverware to the music and artwork. We enjoyed the Brussel Sprouts(large portion!), Sweet Potato Fritters, Pork Belly Coconut Rice Kimchi, and Brooklyn Nights. It’s a smaller place so not recommended for Large Large parties but a smaller group of people or date night works perfect. I recommend making reservations in order to make sure you get a good table on time. Definitely worth checking out! Just wish I had a bigger stomach to enjoy more entrees.
An amazing first experience enjoying the butter of the gods along with perfectly cooked mussels made for the most perfect Surf n turf I could have asked for.
Shoestring french fries finished this late night snack along with some very well priced French press coffee.
Everyone working there was as absolute delight and made it hard to leave.
I look forward to returning to try more of the menu.
Instagram-worthy atmosphere with a beautiful mural, dangling plants, and quirky lighting. This place was cozy. I had brunch here (heard their happy hour is great, so I’ll come back anther time), which offered a decent offering of food—everything looked good and unique with nothing too bizarre. I had a salad, which was fine…a little more bland than I was expecting considering the mix of flavors. All this being said, I loved it all BUT the salad I chose was just ok. The impossible Cooper burger was great though! Worth going back for another try with happy hour it dinner.
A gem in NE Minneapolis. Super friendly staff and our server, Cliff R, was top notch. The Sweet Potato Fritter was a pleasant surprise! It tasted so good. Then the Roasted Cauliflower and Roasted Maitake Mushroom Taco each held their own lip smacking taste- very flavorful. My Pork Belly & Ginger Coconut Rice is my new fav dish in this area. The Rosemary-Brined Fried Chicken looks divine and tastes crispy. My friend really enjoyed her Lavender Nori Shrimp and the Cooper Burger was good. We definitely will be back.
What a cute place in NE! You walk in and you're dazzled by the space. We didn't have reservations, but we were promptly seated at the bar. The service was very warm and friendly! I couldn't decide between the two burgers but was recommended the Cooper Burger. Come hungry because the burger came with two patties and a ton of skinny fries. It was all very tasty.
They had gf/DF options! Delicious and refined in execution. Indulgent and rich with bold flavors. The staff was great, the ambience was awesome, one of my favorite new places.
This restaurant is one of a kind. I went there on a date and the food was phenomenal, the service was second to none, and the ambience was unique and cool. It was perfect. The owner even came to our spot and checked up on us. This place is the epitome of high quality. We've discovered a new favorite.
5 stars fantastic vibes and above and beyond service and food. Isabella truly made my coworker’s and mine night! She provided stellar wine recommendations and the best dinner choices. She was friendly, funny, and accommodating and she truly made our night. All of our dishes were cooked and seasoned perfectly. 5 out of 5 stars
We loved the vibe here. Small and intimate, with an open kitchen. One long bench seat with little tables through the restaurant, with gorgeous wicker chairs opposite or bar seating. The food was super good and refreshing! We had the sweet potato fritters, mussels, brussel sprouts, the shrimp entree and flourless chocolate cake, along with four different wines (all were delicious, and they have an orange wine list as well). Our favorite by far was the brussel sprouts, and the sweet potato fritters were so good and interesting- deep fried balls of sweet potato with a slight cayenne kick! The service at the bar was perfect; she was so sweet and checked in regularly and had great suggestions/casual knowledge of the wine. Boxed our food for us too!
Great spot for meeting with a single friend or two for some nice wine and a fancy shareable.
You know how you see things and you think it’s true good to be true, I felt that way about the reviews I kept seeing for the burger at Stepchld but wow it’s delivered. I am so excited about the new extended hours and they being an option for late night dining! The restaurant has some of the best decor and atmosphere in Minneapolis! Highly recommend everyone try this place!!
Loved the atmosphere - a lot of plant inspo!! Food came out very quickly and was well-presented. I normally do not like kimchi, but LOVED theirs! Saved half of my meal for lunch the next day because it was so tasty, and I wanted to experience it twice ☺️
Was excited to try given the fair number of vegetarian options. We left a bit underwhelmed. Nothing “wowed” us and there wasn’t anything noteworthy worth coming back again for. We had the tiger salad, brussels, shrimp and mushroom tacos. The mushroom tacos were the best but like others have said, very greasy. Shrimp was little too salty. Tiger salad was fine, nothing special. Brussels were the second best item, but also on the saltier side. I liked their char as I prefer mine more roasted. I love the concept of this restaurant and how there isn’t a predominant cuisine or theme, just a bunch of items from many different cuisines. But the flavors just didn’t do it for me, especially at the prices you pay. Everything was just a tad too rich. I’m glad others enjoy this place because we need places like this in the Twin Cities.
Stop by this cute, unique corner restaurant in NE Minneapolis. Good vibes and friendly staff. Definitely recommend the sweet potato fritters (see pic). My girlfriend and I split the burger and fries and the app which left us both feeling full. Relatively broad wine and beer options. Would definitely come back for dinner and will be looking to try the brunch.
Cooper's Burger was straight buttery goodness. The outside patty was caramelized with a crisp char and cooked to perfection, maintaining the integrity of the beef flavors. Serving size geared more along the lines of European fare; however, maintained a reasonable price for the area. Service was polite, responsive, and prompt. Bathrooms were clean, and the restaurant milieu was green, highlighted by the hydroponic flora overhead. Recommended for a date night or anyone interested in an upscale burger.
Stepchld serves one of the best brunches I've had in years. The variety is so diverse and wonderful that I can hardly explain it. I'd classify the restaurant as eclectic, it's far beyond new American. I highly recommend stopping by.
Loving the vibe of this restaurant in NE Minneapolis, the cooper burger is great, the pasta is good, I was craving for a burger and beer after gym, and this hit the spot
We had a great meal at STEPCHLD tonight, the Burrata and the Brussels sprouts (both recommended by our awesome server) were absolutely incredible! We will be back!
Overall food was good and the space was beautiful. Sweet potato fritters are incredible. However, 10% fee for the “back of house” is weird- might as well just add that to the menu pricing. Why am I paying $20 for an entree if the restaurant can’t afford to pay the cooks who make the food?
Cool place. The dinner menu is fairly limited. We had 3 of the 4 entrees available and a smattering of small plates. There is a nice kick of heat in most of the dishes (which I love) and lots of big savory flavors. Dessert was fantastic. Looking forward to trying out brunch.
Great place for dinner and drinks. They only have beer and wine if you’re looking for drinks. As for the food the noodles and burger are delicious. The burger is one of the best in the cities! The noodles are just as good. They have a great wine list too which you can enjoy in their beautiful dining area. This is a great spot for a date dinner or with friends.
Wow, simply wow. The staff are all incredible, caring, and visibly dedicated to their work and the customer's experience.
The food is interesting combinations you won't find in your typical restaurant but has the expertise and quality you'd expect at a high profile restaurant. Pricing is what I would consider medium to high medium.
The atmosphere is charming and alluring with a large beautiful mural and hydroponic plants scattered across the ceiling. There is very limited seating though so if it's a busy time make sure to call ahead.
If you want a new and refreshing experience please stop by and visit yourself! It won't disappoint!
Had such a wonderful dinner last night with a friend. The servers were friendly, engaging and knowledgeable. Kamal (the owner) was present in the restaurant and came over to check in and engage with each table. He offered us a tasting of some wine and overall was so lovely to speak to. Run don’t walk here because the food is even better than the amazing staff!
Some of the tastiest food I’ve had in NE! My partner and I had the bone marrow for a starter, salmon and grits & pork belly for main courses, and the flourless chocolate torte for dessert. We couldn’t decide which dish was our favorite. Our two entrees were amazing and I can’t wait to go back!
Great wine list.
Tapas style restaurant.
I would be interested in going again for brunch.
The cost of dinner did not represent the quality of the food/service.
Spent ~$230 for 4 people.
18% COVID surcharge for PPE for staff, yet staff was wearing personal PPE. Between Denver, Chicago, Des Moines, and MPLS (recent travels), this is the highest surcharge I have seen anywhere and it didn't make a whole lot of sense.
We ordered:
2 glasses of wine, 1 beer, 1 hot tea.
2 appetizers, 1 dessert. 3 burgers, 1 short rib, sd. fries.
This place has such a unique vibe! Went for Sunday brunch and had to try the blueberry be pancakes, they did not disappoint. Will definitely be back!
Small restaurant, so make reservations. Breakfasts are delicious and creative - though our Eggs Benedict were barely warm.
Staff is friendly and welcoming. Parking on street kind of a pain, but Saturday had several spaces available very near the restaurant.
We will go back!
Great meal with lots of amazing flavors. Beer, wine, and a few NA beverages like tea, coffee, Mexican Coke, etc. No sparkling water or club soda. High salt on most dishes. Amazing textures. Highly recommend the cauliflower, burrata, and the Tiger from Burma salad.
Impeccable ambiance, or vibes. Great selection of wines and beers, and servers who out care into their recommendations.
Appetizers ordered: Cauliflower was great and very spicy (5/5🌶) . Brie and Bread was to die for, this was our favorite!
Entrees: Shrimp (not sure of the whole name) was great and also spicy (4/5🌶)
The Louis (pasta) was the perfect palate cleanser to soothe the spice 🥰. Great taste and perfect size.
Overall, our table had a lovely experience and we’ll be coming back for more!
Nice small place. Came for a birthday dinner. Music selection is great. Beauty Burger was great. Garlic pasta was okay, wished it came with a protein option or bread.
Their tables were super cute. We enjoyed our meal! Although it was surprising there were free refills on drip coffee!
The Cooper Burger here is simply amazing. Great service, friendly staff. I will be back!
A lovely spot with a great small menu. I loved the mussels, Brie and pear, and the burrata. The staff was so kind and helpful. I would highly recommend this for a date night or a dinner with friends and family.
I'm always a fan of a place with a small menu, it means they have perfected the dishes and have no need to have a million ingredients laying around or food being frozen.
My partner and I went here specifically for the burger as I had seen it all over social media (after only a month of them being open). We are always looking for the next best burger in the twin cities area.
This burger did not disappoint. The toppings were a perfect compliment to the perfectly smashed patties, plenty of crispy edges along with plenty of nicely cooked beef.
We also ordered the sweet potato fritters and those were little balls of heaven! The goat cheese sauce they are served with is the perfect tangy bite to bring it all together.
We will be back!
Very expensive and small portions. There are better options in the area.
Cooper burger is phenomenal, even if expensive. I found the fries to be mediocre. I've also ordered the Pork Belly & Ginger Coconut Rice and found it to be disappointing & overpriced.
Great atmosphere with mirrored turntable and tube-fed hanging plants over head. Great beer selection and food was delicious. Interesting twists on familiar dishes and a few totally new things to me. Absolutely thrilled STEPCHLD is open!
Isabella is my fav bartender ever . First time here , she had so much knowledge about wines and cocktails. Will definitely be back to see her!
They hit it out of the park with their food. Best scrambled eggs I've had in a long time. top notch blueberry pancake.
I will be back!
Their burger rivals any in town, the ambiance is chic city meets plants. We love a good neighborhood eatery and STEPCHLD is just right!
Ordered a lot from the menu and enjoyed itcall, it all exceeded expectations. Lia was our server and was nothing short of exceptional. Great experience! Great spot!
One of my new favorite restaurants! Servers were super helpful and the food was amazing: cauliflower, brussels sprouts, sweet potato fritters, birria were all 10/10. Every dish is a hit: I can't wait to come back and try more! The descriptions seem simple and menu selective but don't let that deter you: there are so many delicious flavors and textures in each bite.
This place is so great! I love the ambiance and the burger. Get the burger. Their wine list isn't to be missed - try something new.
Please don’t tell anyone that their $20 impossible cooper burger is the best Impossible burger in the Twin Cities. A devastating blow to my wallet that it’s worth every penny.
We love Stepchld! Their food is amazing- especially their sweet potato fritters! Great service and kind staff. Definitely 5 star experience!
Small place with a great atmosphere. Small menu with interesting and tasty options. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. Check out out, 5 stars!
Awesome flavors professional presentation. Cozy friendly had a delightful dinner. Looking forward to new menu coming out.
ADORABLE atmosphere, great music and fantastic food. Can't wait to go back!
Wonderful service and very friendly chef! Their Brussels sprouts are extraordinary!
We absolutely LOVED Stepchld. The food was spectacular, the wine selection is perfect & the ambiance is just top notch. It’s in the perfect location and we can’t wait to make this our new local spot! This was my first time dining in since Covid started and we were very impressed with their safety protocols. Also, this mural are you kidding me.
Outstanding dinner experience. The food (burrata, fritters, brussel sprouts, bone marrow and tacos) was outstandingly tasty. The server (Isabella?) provided excellent service. Definitely highly recommend it.
The Ethiopian birria tacos are soooo good. Omg. And I’ve never tried orange wine before until here and I’m def coming back!
Loved the Birria Tacos & the cooper burger are to die for! Clean and warm place for my birthday dinner.
This place is in my neighborhood, and I am so happy it’s here. The wine choices are great, but the food. The food is a reason to return again and again. The garlic noodles never disappoint, as long as you really like garlic, and who doesn’t?! The staff is also great. You should definitely try this place if you haven’t already
Was in town from LA, the atmosphere felt like a trendy Silverlake restaurant. Food was delicious and the natural wine selection was wonderful. Our server was attentive and patient with my family as we all caught up on life. We tried a little everything, my favorites: Ethiopian birria, kale salad, and shawarma dumplings. Absolutely delicious!
This was literally the best impossible burger I’ve ever had. Vegetarians and people who don’t eat meat, rejoice. Yes, it’s $20, but omg is it delicious. The patties were so juicy and flavorful. My meat eating friends even tried and loved it. Service was prompt and friendly, I can’t wait to go back.
First time eating at the restaurant on Saturday. It was a pleasant experience, the interior/vibe is very NE Mpls and all the wait staff were friendly and helpful. The food was solid. We got the shawarma dumplings and sweet potato fritters for apps (fritters were our favs). For entrees we got the Ethiopian biria tacos and the mussels. The tacos were good but very greasy, but the mussels were cooked perfectly. We plan to come back and try some other dishes.
Isabella was kind, informative and gave our party exceptional service. Made our night!
I loved it here! My only critique is, their Birria tacos are not really Birria tacos. I understand it's an infusion, but the meat missed the mark and their isn't a consomme. But everything else we had (and we ordered almost everything on the menu) was stellar.
The burger is the best item of the menu by far. Smaller portions for other dishes. Solid beer selection. We arrived for our 8pm reservation and had to wait to 8:35pm to sit for dinner.
The food was absolutely wonderful! The atmosphere was beautiful and clean. The employees were super polite and well knowledged in the menu.
Will be recommending to friends and family!
Burger: fantastic. Top 5 for me. Super smashed patties, thin pickles and a tasty sauce. Yes.
Fries: fantastic. Shoestring, so not for everyone, but they held up even in a takeout box. Garlicky AF, in a beautiful way.
Sweet potato fritters were an unexpected delight and I’ll be ordering them every time! A great addition to the NE food scene!
The Cooper Burger was absolutely amazing. Two smashed patties with cheese melted in between. This is one of the best burgers in the cities, hands down.
My wife and I stopped in for a Saturday afternoon meal and sat at the bar. Nick served us, and he was great. Prompt, friendly, and personable.
We will definitely be back.
Incredible menu! Everything was unique and excellent. The burger was phenomenal, juicy and special. Beer list wasn't huge, but they had many unique beers that pair well with the menu - clearly some thought went into the tap list! Our server was fun and casual.
Ok I hate to be a review writer but I do have to say this - first off the vibe is super cool and I absolutely love how it looks inside. Everyone is super welcoming and has great customer service. But, the menu is inconsistent - when we first went we fell in love with the cauliflower and the sweet potato fritter then came back and the recipes were completely different. Although the food is still great, it’s a slight bummer to go somewhere and recommend a food for it not to be there.
Am so happy this spot landed in NE. Incredible wait staff who made our experience very special. Wine list was phenomenal, food was incredible. Specifically the Brussels and sweet potato fritters were outstanding. Went for a girls night and we shared all the plates – portions were larger than expected too. Will be back ASAP for the burger!
Delicious food, fair prices, we have legit enjoyed everything we have gotten from there. Shrimp dish and tacos were a couple of highlights for us.
I would have given four stars but the beer fridge was broken and they didn't make any effort to work around the issue. Might go back.
One of the best restaurants in Minneapolis. A must-try location - don't miss the Tiger from Burma salad.
Absolutely amazing. Came in to grab a quick bite during dinner time and I wasn’t disappointed. The Cooper Burger was so juicy and cooked to perfection. I love the layout of this place. Beautiful artwork and hanging plants. Staff were very nice and accommodating. Definitely will come back again!
For our 3rd visit to STEP. Once again CONNER took care of us. She knows her stuff! She reps that place very well. Bosses take note. Then she brought out our App. The Sweet Potato Fritters. I've never ate anything like it before. The Maple syrup aroma leapt out at me and made my mouth water. The Goat Cheese spread underneath made the fritter even better. The Cayenne pepper kicks in later as your chewing. I could have had a hundred of these good sized fritters.
First time visit was great. Brunch goes from open to 5pm on the weekends. Tasty wild rice pancakes with fresh blackberries and real Maple syrup. The Cooper Burger was both well thought out with jalapeño for some kick, the patties smashed to perfection with cheese oozing over the bun. Well thought out and complimented with thin cut fries dipped in truffle. So good. And the Bless this Mess fried chicken on biscuit sandwiche was both filling and so worth the time to eat it. Solid beer and wine choice, but no cocktails. Staff was professional and our server was kind and honest about food choices and parings. Our server was amazing and she put up with our 2 year old without missing a beat. We hope to be back soon.
This is the best restaurant in Minnesota. We had most of the small plates and they all are delicious. The sweet potato fritters are to die for and I still think about them often. As for the large plates we had the Cooper Burger and the short rib. The Cooper Burger is the best burger in Minneapolis. The potato bun... 🔥, the patties... elite, the sauce... saucy! Lastly, the short rib is the biggest misnomer cause it is HUGE! Fall off the bone tender. Big flavor.
Make sure you get a reservation, we sat near the door and so many people came in without reservations and had to go somewhere else.
This food is absolutely worth planning ahead for! If you like high quality food, You will love it.
Overall our experience here was just okay. All the food we tried was either underseasoned or overseasoned. The chicken was cooked well but almost flavorless, the meatballs were on the dry side and too salty so the other flavors I'm sure were there were covered up.
It was a little disappointing considering what we were paying for the food.
Such a great atmosphere, wonderful staff, amazing food and wine! Excellent experience!
Favorite restaurant in MSP! Not kidding. Everything here is fantasic. The mussels with curry broth is delicious and the burger is good too. They have a wide range of foods and everything I've had has been top notch.
Everything we ate for dinner was amazing! We tried all the small plates, the shrimp, chocolate cake, and mango cheesecake. It was all delicious and we can’t wait to come back! The staff was awesome as well. Would highly recommend the sweet potato fritters, shrimp, and mango cheesecake! Also get a bottle of orange wine!
We there a couple weeks ago. I had the Cooper burger and my companion had the Ethiopian Birria. Server recommended both of them as the 2 most popular items. Burger was great, fries were good as well - skinny, crisp fries.
Ethiopian Birria is, basically, tacos with the beef seasoning being... ethiopian? The tortilla is fried, which makes it delicious and also pretty greasy. It's not bad, but at the price point($17) it's a bit of a gut bomb. Companion ate 2 of them and kind of groaned and gave up.
Beer list is varied, server was helpful and attentive. Would like to return and try other items. Burger is solid though.
Love when a restaurants can do veggies right. Great food and staff.
First time here and it's a fun place for brunch. I had the K-Pop and it was absolutely delicious. The Japanese siphon coffee is a fun experience and there is a notable difference in flavor. Our server was super friendly, so that was nice too!
Great staff interaction, great tap list 11+. Good variety of cuisine/ethnicity array. Menu is limited but has quality variety of ingredients. Price point to portion point is fairly high but you will be satisfied and full. Ingredients are worth price point as well.
Good aesthetic. Lots of hydroponic plants, local BIPOC art, open galley kitchen, record player with mirror above. Nice lighting, good volume.
I’ve had the Ethiopian Birria Tacos and the Cooper Burger. The tacos were a unique dish, I may be wrong here but I’ve never seen them at other restaurants before. You can’t go wrong in ordering the tacos, but the Cooper Burger is definitely the highlight. One of the top 3 burgers I’ve had in the Twin Cities. It’s a very simple burger with cheese, aioli, and pickles but that simplicity highlights the quality of the meat used. Certainly coming back for another burger.
I recommend reservations as this restaurant is a little small. My date and I loved the bone marrow and mussels.
This quaint restaurant had a small but powerful menu that packs tons of flavors in its sharable plates. We got to sit outside and enjoy the perfect summer evening, complimented by the best bottle of wine! Great place for a date or to celebrate something!
Went for lunch. Staff was friendly and service was timely. Love the decor and layout. Split the brussels sprouts and copper burger. Brussels sprouts were amazing. Don’t understand the hype with the burger but would definitely go back to try their dinner menu.
The Cooper burger competes for best burger in the TC. We also had the cauliflower for a starter and had great flavors. I can't think of anything to ding them for.
Randomly stopped in and it was the best surprise of the night! The hostess was super friendly, Tess was on point with the wine/food recommendations and the vibe was great. Loved the underground 90’s hip-hop soundtrack and live plants everywhere - good times!
Excellent birria, burger and wild rice pancakes. The Japanes coffee was exceptional also
In town for business and we found this gem. Great beers on tap, awesome food especially chargrilled salad and Ethiopian tacos., and outstanding service!
Cute restaurant and ambiance. I had the porkbelly and coconut rice which was delicious. Only reason I’m rating it a 3 was because we had reservations and when we arrived we were told no seats inside and only outdoor seatings. I did double check my reservation confirmation and it said dinning room. After 15 mins or so they did move us inside upon asking to to be on waitlist, which I appreciated. The host did mention it’s happened a few times… which i would suggest updating your online reservations to reflect outdoor or indoor so customers are aware of it because i felt like it was unfair for us to have reservations that said dinning room but was told it was for patio upon arriving and then having to be on waitlist for indoor.
We were very glad they were open on Labor Day. Tough to find a place! Cute, eclectic, one of a kind.
Absolutely delicious. Get the sweet potato fritters - you won't regret it! Great food & nice atmosphere.
Excellent food but a bit pricey for the portions. Overall.great experience though.
Stepchild is a hip gem for sure. The waitstaff were charming and often helped eachother out, making a great team. The food quality and execution is also spot on. So so good! They have this super cool Japanese siphon coffee, which is made at your table and yields theee cups of good coffee. We actually thought we should have been paying more for everything we got!
Dinner there last night was AMAZING! The food was some of the best I've had in Minneapolis and our bartender/server was awesome too. Great spot; incredible food.
Excellent food, interesting flavors, and good service! We will definitely be back. Favorite dish was the pork and ginger coconut rice!
Tiger from Burma salad is a must. Each dish is special. Have been 3 times now, and always a lovely meal.
The menu at Stepchld is elevated yet accessable, really delicious food and they have unique cider and wine offerings. We were there for dinner and can't wait to try The breakfast menu. The atmosphere and staff are very welcoming, this new N.E. spot is going to be a favorite for all!
The space, artwork, food and over feel of Stepchild is absolutely wonderful. Perfect place to share dishes. The staff and service is professional, helpful, friendly and fun. Dining experiences like Stepchild offers is all the incentive a person could desire to go out!
One of the best meals I've ever had. Try the shrimp.
Amazing addition to Northeast. My friend and I both had the Cooper burger which was paired perfectly with thin fries and aioli. Kombucha mimosa was super refreshing! Next time will have to try the siphon coffee.
Loved the food, lots of flavor. Great variety…. keep up the great work!
The burger here might be the best in town! Great environment and the food was absolutely delicious!
Amazing food, great atmosphere and the best staff in Minneapolis. Stepchld is a must try!
Great space, great food, great people! For anyone in the area looking for an elevated experience in NE without all the boisterous pretentious bells and whistles Stepchld is the spot. Will be returning for the vibrant food and fine pour over coffee.
I took myself on a date here and I had a lovely evening. I especially enjoyed the shrimp!
Highly recommend!
Enjoyed every aspect of our time there. Certain you will not be disappointed.
Great meal, delicious and unique preparations. Tess' wine knowledge is seriously on point. Great owners, and chef. Going back next week!
Was highly recommended to me, I shall share the same with you. An absolutely brilliant experience.
Everything was excellent, service, food, drinks, etc. The pork belly with coconut rice is one of best/unique meals I've had in a long time.
We moved here from New York City two years ago. We like to try out different restaurants a couple times a month. There’s only a handful that we go back to a second, third time, etc. STEPCHLD is certainly one of them. We’ll be back and will absolutely ask for Tessa. She’s a rockstar!
Delicious brunch. Very cool Japanese siphon coffee, which is well worth the cost. Service was super friendly and quick. Highly recommend.
Delightful space. Varied menu, delicious food and our server was very good. Highly recommend.
Amazing juicy burger, addicting sweet potato fritters, and a delicious fall spiced sangria. Service was great!
The food was delicious and great drink options. Unique flavors and presentation. Cool vibe and attentive staff. Great new addition to the neighborhood.
Food, drinks, and service were fantastic. Couldn't ask for more. Will be back many times I hope!
Delicious food, excellent service, and very cool ambiance. A wonderful date night spot and in a great location! Will absolutely be back, soon!!
The food was delicious and the restaurant is beautiful
Went with a couple of friends for wine and dinner and everything was great! Wonderful attentive service, lovely wine list, and all the food was perfection.
A nice selection of delectable dishes of neighborhood food pared nice with a wide selection of wines. Local brew on tap!
Creative but humble meals, well priced beer and coffee. Can't wait to come back for more wild rice pancakes!
Absolutely delicious and unique dishes with a flexible, professional, and friendly staff. Excited to go back for more.
Nice atmosphere for dinner. Friendly staff.
Everything was amazing! The food, the decor, the music, the service was all fantastic and had great vibes.
Nice little place for a gathering. I was there for the Prince Birthday celebration and only wish there was more space for a dance 💃 🎶 floor. …
Fantastic food. Great environment. Would come here again. Get the Japanese Siphon Coffee and bless this mess.
Wow! This place is divine. The mussels were fabulous and filling.
Beautiful space, incredible service, and REALLY good food! This team understands hospitality. I felt very comfortable in the space.
One of the best burgers ive tried so far in the metro. Good service too.
I had an amazing time! And the food was absolutely delicious.
Such a fantastic restaurant! Food was great, ambiance was great, overall 10/10 would recommend!
As a former employee, I can vouch that the food here is bomb as hell

I love this place … food, drinks, hospitality. An engagement of the 5 senses! 5 star!

Great staff amazing food
Great food and service!
Great cheeseburger!
Beautiful setting.
It's tight
The food and service were very good. Very good mussels and the Cooper burger was amazing. The drinks - not so much. When we were there, the tap lines weren't working, so they only had 3 choices in a bottle or can, and they quickly ran out of one of those choices. They don't seem to have a full liquor license, so it's only wine and beer. Not my favorite, but if they had working tap lines it would have been better.
We loved our brunch experience here. Everything about it exceeded expectations - food, music, and service. Chef Eric and Lia were knowledgeable and friendly. Can’t recommend this place enough.
Great food and very friendly service!
Amazing food and amazing service. Isabella was top notch and attended to our tables dietary restrictions with care and charisma (on a holiday!) We’ll definitely be back♥️
Disclaimer... Please make reservations before attempting to dine here..
We decided to try this place out. But wanted to beat the crowd so we came at exactly 5pm. I am thankful that we did, because we were the last group that they accepted without a reservation, lesson learned.. but the favor Lord!
This place was simply amazing. From the authentic decor, deem lighting and great music set our date night out!
We started the night with a bottle of their Sparkling Domaine Rondeau Cerdon Rose. Light and Crispy, not to sweet... Perfectly paired with our App, the Brie and Pear with grilled bear.. (MuSourdoughst Try)..
Salad, we shared the Brussel Sprouts. Again, we order Brussel sprouts whenever we dine out. This was one of my favorites! Sauted to perfection, the sliced almonds gives this dish the perfect crunch after every bite. The bitter apricot paired perfectly with sweetness of honey.. ! Will be back for this one.
Main course.. we ordered the Cooper Burger w/ a side Arugula salad and the Ethiopian Birria Taccos.. Great choices for our first impressions of this place. The Cooper was so flavorful and juicy. The tacos left me so satisfied with bursts of authentic Ethiopian flair.
We were served by Kamal Mohamed (Founder), as my husband inquired about the music selection! #Dope
We will be back!!
Really friendly staff. Got a seat at bar for early dinner without a reservation. Had the pasta, which was simple but so good.
