Reviews of Sonora Grill
We went on a Friday for happy hour, it wasn't bad but wasn't spectacular. Service/attention was good but the kitchen did forget we ordered tacos along with other food. The same thing happened to a couple of tables around us.
We ordered chips and queso (came out a bit cold but was very good), the Sonora Hotdog (very good), and the burger, and tacos. We never got to try the tacos, and everything else was good with the exception of the fries which were a bit soggy and lacked some more seasoning.
Cocktails including the margarita and the sangria were tasty and great for a warm evening.
Pretty much everything here is expensive. No whining about it. But everything we had was delicious. The chips and queso was fantastic. I got the tacos. It was the best steak taco I’d ever had. I tried a different kind, Chicken Rojo, and it was good also. But not nearly as good as the steak.
I see they have a brisket taco now also. I’ll have to try that one.
Best taco I’ve ever had. Period. Great atmosphere. Friendly, quick service even on a busy Friday early evening.
I’ll be back.
Amazing server. Nice twists on common Mexican items burrito. Mushroom burrito was raved by our companion, he's chef trained so huge compliment. Amazing tomatillo salsa spicy as was enchilada type salsa with burrito. Mushroom burrito had beautiful spicy green salsa. Coconut rice tasted amazing in bowl. Beet salad was my choice. Delicious and contained derp fried 🥑. Kinda crazy. Craft cocktails very nicely done as well! Guacamole and ceviche delicious! A definite gastronomy destination.
We walked in and was immediately turned off by the dry atmosphere. If music was playing, I honestly do not remember. But, then we ordered. Surprisingly, the tacos and empanadas were delicious. If in the neighborhood, I would stop for tacos only. The margarita was ok. We'd rather go elsewhere for cocktails and beer.
Arroz Frito, fish and pork pastor taco. All three were very good. The fish breading was light and the sauce on it was refreshing and flavorful. The pork pastor was tasty and a healthy portion as well. Arroz Frito was very good. The shrimp had good flavor and was not at all fishy. The bowl itself with the rice and pork was well seasoned. If anything I would like more spice (but that's just my taste because I like spicy foods). My girlfriend got the sonora bowl and she said it was good as well. The chips and salsa starters were good, the salsa is a very smokey style and it is good. I just wish it was spicy. The drinks were very good. We had margaritas and paloma. Definitely worth going and if I lived closer I would definitely go for happy hour.
The drinks alone are worth trying this place out, very fun! I’m not a big taco person and really enjoyed their shrimp bocadillo which had a delicious slaw and dipping sauce. Nice atmosphere and was able to find parking in the lot behind. Would recommend!
Back from an out of town road trip and we were ready for something light & a quick night cap .
We were in the mood for ceviche & quesadillas , the Apple cider margarita was as refreshing as it sounded .
Thank you for a relaxing evening back in town @ Sonora Grill MPLS # Lake Street.
So good! The cocktails and food are amazing. I was craving ceviche and aguachiles so we came here on a whim. We were totally blown away by how good everything was and by the service. We had ceviche, aguachiles, empanadas, and eggplant fries. I would've never expected eggplant fries to be good, but they were delicious. I'm not sure if he was the manager or not, but one of the guys behind the bar serving us was so nice! He made suggestions, answered all our questions, and was very fun to talk to!
I was absolutely shocked at how good the food was here. From the chips and queso to the 5 different tacos we got, everything was amazing.
Service was wonderful also. We had a very pleasant server who spent the perfect amount of time checking in and making us feel not rushed during our time here.
This might be one of my new go to spots for delicious food now.
EXPERIENCE: The patio was lovely, until it started raining, but even then it was find because there is a canopy-like covering over it that mitigates some of the rain water. We stayed outside the whole time regardless.
They inside looked nice too but was pretty loud for talking! Our servers were very friendly and helpful.
As you walk in, there is a QR code on the host stand that links to the menu.
They have some off street parking, but I can imagine that gets full during busier times.
DRINKS: We had two different cocktails: one is the Piña Colada and the other is the Mango Margarita. The marg was on the rocks with some fancy garnishes, like the side of the glass was coated in cayenne (?) And there was a green gummy life saver on the straw. Yum! I wish it was more mixed up though, but it was all good. It looked pretty separated.
FOOD: I had the Hermosillo Roll from the appetizers section and my friend I was dining with had the Chimichanga.
The Hermosillo was good, it was simar to sushi but it was breaded and fried around the outside, followed by a layer of white rice and veggies. So good!
CONCLUSION: Price is moderate, I had the marg and app as a meal plus tax and tip as $30.
Overall, a positive experience I would go back again.
I had avoided this place because the prices seemed too high for tacos, but a friend finally convinced me to give it a try. The food was outstanding and the service was great. Plus they have a nice patio and fun atmosphere.
I love ❤️ food. I love 💕 Burritos 🌯 the most. I have had hundreds and thousands of burritos all over the world 🌎 in my life.
This place has the THE BEST BURRITO in the world. (No kidding). I know that is a tall claim. But it’s true. A good burrito doesn’t have freaking rice or beans in it. It has meat 🥩 and a lot of it. The burrito made by ‘Jorge’ at Sonora Grill has 20oz of premium beef cooked to perfection, fresh avacado and seasoned tomato’s. The burrito comes with a special sauce that elevates the taste further. Just writing this makes we want another burrito 🌯.
Do yourself a favor and order a large steak burrito here, it will change your life forever.
Food was great.
Service was hit and miss.
Our server disappeared after bringing us our drinks.
The bartender took care of our table the rest of the time while also trying to manage the bar, so no fault to him but resulted in VERY slow service.
He took our food order, brought us our food, our refills, our bill etc.
As soon as cash hit the table to pay the bill, the server magically reappeared before my hand was even off of it to take it from us.
Wish the bartender would have been the one taking our tip since he did all the work
The happy hour here is a good deal that got us out here. The elote was okay but the tacos and drinks were delicious. I ordered an empanada to go and found out afterwards that happy hour is DINE IN ONLY. It would have been nice if that was noted somewhere or mentioned when the order was put in.
Amazing. The chicken tinga taco and shrimp taco are by far my favorite tacos ever. The elote is also super delicious and unique. I have never been disappointed with their food. Highly recommend!
Absolutely amazing food. The flavors embedded in the dishes were superb. Great care is taken on every plate. The decor was lovely and the lighting was ample. Our server was very helpful and willing to answer all of our ridiculous questions.
Don't miss an opportunity to eat here, you won't regret it!!
Food is fantastic. I highly recommend the coconut rice. I love all the tacos. I had the Obregon mixed drink: Serrano-infused Correlejo, housemade basil syrup, agave & lime. Also great and all of my friends seemed to enjoy the drinks they ordered as well.
Found this wonderful spot after my daughter's late night Sunday gymnastics meet. Great tacos & drinks! Had Mezcal offerings too! Super friendly staff! Check them out the next time you're in south Minneapolis!
Great cocktails 🍹 Awesome food! Great staffs! Open beautiful patio! Overall great place to have a drink and food! …
The perfect atmosphere! One of the most welcoming places that I've encountered! The owner was my server and gave me a nice history lesson of the place. The coconut rice is excellent and the pulled pork tacos are top notch. Definite recommend!
Very impress with food and service. By far best Churros and tacos de Lengua in town. And I have tried them all. Keep up the good work guys.👍🏼 …
My Mexico's friend from Sonora said the taste it's quite authentic, my say the taste is little bit bland, may be need more salts overall the experience it's good and you will spend more $$$ since the portion is small.
Sonora Grill has an interesting variety of menu selections. Everything seems made in house and tastes great. I will happily return to try the rest. The only bummer is the amount of salsa I received with chips. There was about half the chips left when the salsa ran out.
In the Twin Cities we are fortunate to have the 2 main categories of Mexican restaurants: traditional Mexican and "distinctively" Mexican. Sonora Grill is part of the latter. The chefs here use their cullinary wisdom to put their own unique spin on Mexican food through their choices of ingredients and technique and also through fusion. They start you off with the customary chips and salsa and the salsa I noticed is more like the kind you would get going to Mexico City which is a slightly smokey chipotle/ arbol type of salsa. A welcomed variation. We started with the very popular hermosillo roll which is a fusion of an asian egg roll and sushi and Mexican grilled meats served on top of a soy sauce and a spin on a sushi type of aoili. This was very delicious and very big too. We had the pork empanadas. Mine were just a little overdone but the girlfriend said thats how she likes them. They were still nice and flaky with well flavored and spiced meat on top of an aoli. We had the Cuban pork sandwich and yucca fries. These were also very tasty and distinct. The service here is excellent and so very friendly. I can recommend this place to anyone but if there's one thing to keep in mind it would be that this places loves their aoilis. Everything we ordered came with some kind of aoili. I'm sure some might say it is aoili overload. I personally would like to see them try more wet sauces versus heavy ones.
I had a Mahi Mahi fish taco and this one was very beautifully served and was terrifically delicious and I have to say that it was so pretty I took a picture of my entire.
What a hidden gem! Over the top friendly and prompt service! Every dish was zesty, fresh, and screamed with life and flavor! Lovely outdoor patio and excellent mixed drinks made this place a guaranteed winner!
Great place for drinks & hanging out. Tacos are a bit overly price and doesn't taste as authentic but overall wasn't bad.
Sonora grill has some of the best tacos I have ever tried while living in the US. I'm Mexican so I should know. Very tasty food and not excessively greasy like other bad quality Mexican restaurants. The tacos and food are quite expensive but worth it. The michelada was only okay. My husband ordered a salad and he liked it as well. We sat in their pet friendly patio with our dog. They even offer a water bowl for your dog. 😃🐕🦺
It doesn't get much better then this place!
They always deliver.
The food rocks, the drinks are phenomenal.
The new blood orange martini is so amazing! Empenadas amazing
I really enjoyed my time here with friends and with the wait staff. The food was delicious and the atmosphere delightful. Mostly agreeable.
This place was really good. Giant breakfast burrito, indulgent empanadas, tongue tacos with excellent sauce. The shrimp tacos presentation is beyond brief (see picture). They also have an extensive tequila and mezcal menu. Very nice staff and atmosphere. I highly recommend Sonora grill.
A phenomenal Mexican spot where you have the opportunity to experience the Mexican style food from the state of Sonora. You can not pass up the great deal of $3 Tacos all day on Tuesdays along with Happy Hour everyday of the week from 2-5 PM.
Ordered online, food awesome! Long red haired server who bagged order was rude. Wished i would have waited to tip…would have given the cook cash.
Great food. Little expensive. Great staff. The drinks look really good, have not tried them though.
Try it out!
Tried this place by chance and woah, it turned out to be amazing! Super chill Mexican food that is sure to satisfy any foodie. They even found a way to elevate nachos and added huitlacoche crema that was to die for! In addition, they had some fun creative drinks!! Seriously can’t wait to come back!!!
Shrimp and chicken rojo carmelos (tacos) are the best. Even better at happy hour prices!
New menu 2019 featured in photo, barbacoa burrito $7 on HH.
My 1st time there for lunch .. and WoW set at the bar.. the FOOD was awesome .. the service was great .. i have never given a 5 star before today..
Food was excellent, drinks were fine craft cocktails that you don't want to stop drinking!
The server was speedy and friendly!
We actually went for the empanadas and they did not disappoint!!
Never fails do disappoint. Fantastic food, great drinks, warm and competent service. This place is a jewel. Don’t miss the seafood bichi. It’s the best soup in minneapolis, no contest.
Good food and friendly help. Nothing left but dirty dishes.
My favorite taco and tequila bar in the city. Seriously, the shrimp taco is fantastic, and these margaritas are the best. Everything is made to order and besides the caramelos, there are some fantastic entrées for one, or to share.
Excellent tacos. Great fried eggplant and good margaritas. Highly recommend. Good value.
Delicious Mexican cuisine! Tacos were flavorful!
Craving for Mexican food? This is the place to be. One of the best burritos and Tacos I have tasted in a long time.
Amazing, the food was absolutely delisous and the waiter was hilarious he kept giving me coke and soon he gave me a pitcher and we all picked in to drink it and he was super surprised haha!
Checked out this place for the first time last night. I had the Argentinian empanadas. They were pretty good, but they weren't as good as the empanadas that I had when I was in Argentina in 2006! However, I realize that is not a very fair comparison. I'm just glad that there's a place in Minneapolis where you can actually get empanadas!
Service was great and quick. Food was good. They brought us extra chips right away. Portions were decent. The vibe of the restaurant was quite nice. Not super overwhelming, but still bold in subtle ways.
This place is amazing I love this place. The food is great. Excellent service. It's always a nice experience for anyone I take here that hasn't tried it. They instantly fall in love with the food too. They then share the Sonora experience with others. I would check out the shrimp tempura taco. I also like the mushroom taco they have created.
Great margaritas! Unfortunately when we were there they were out of guacamole. :-( everything else however was great)
Good Vibes. Good Eats. Decent Cocktails. I think I ordered the La Violeta and tried a couple of other people's drinks but none of them resonated with me but that doesn't mean they weren't good. Some of the people I went with tried the cocktails with Tequila and thought they were great. I don't drink tequila. So I guess I'll never know. I wish I could give higher marks for their great and HONEST service. I was reviewing my credit card statements and receipts and noticed I added the tip to the total incorrectly and wrote $37 instead of $27. On my credit card statement, it showed the correct amount of $27. I cannot tell you how many of my receipts will have a slightly different total than what appears on the credit card statements. It may only be 20 or 30 cents more but it does make me wonder, how many times servers are fudging the numbers - even just a little bit - that compound over time to more money in their coffers. The server's name on my receipt is Kyle H. (we went there on 6/28) but our server was female. Her name could have been Kyle but just in case it isn't, I want to praise our server for her honesty and being able to serve 12+ people!
I have been going to this place for 5 years since I moved here. The service has always been great and the food even better. The staff is always attentive and seems happy. Strongly recommend.
Absolutely delicious. The staff was a bit unprofessional for such a pricey establishment. My husband had a Michelada and felt the house made mix was too spicy. My son and I enjoyed the guacamole and steak tacos. The rice was wonderful.
good bfast burrito, just don't pay extra for guac you'll get skimped, and the chipotle salsa tastes like marinara
This is a restaurant that climbs to the top for Minneapolis favorites and I hope this place always remains. Lots of options for herbivores and meat lovers with custom options too. The fish tacos, coconut rice, and remolacha salad are all fan favorites - so delicious, light, yet fulfilling. Service is always good vibes, smooth and chill. The patio is great too for the non-winter seasons. Support local with this classic traditional Mexican cuisine experience.
Had a great brunch Sunday morning. 2 for 1 mimosas and blood mary specials. Food was excellent.
The food was Awesome great tacos.
The following week we ordered it to be delivered and it was Still very good. I do recommend going there.
The food was phenomenal, the inside seating can be a little noisy if your sensitive to loud sounds but they have a beautiful outside patio if that’s the case.
Food was amazing and cocktails were even better!! Super nice/large patio as well. The staff was not great however. I like to give waiters the benefit of the doubt so maybe it was just a busy night for them but out waitress couldn’t have cared less about our table. Will definitely be back though and hopefully the experience will be better next time!
Sonora grill never disappoints with its varied menu options and wonderfully delicious drinks! Not to mention, their song choices are great! Always a fun time with a group of friends!
The seafood soup was really tasty. Was nice to enjoy lunch on the patio. Waiters were friendly. I'll be back!
Love this place!! Lived across the street when it first opened and for about 3yrs after. Staff and service alway A+.
I've been to Sonora Grill many times, so I want to say my most recent experience isn't representative of my average outting. The tacos were astounding, the drinks were delicious, the service.... nonexistent. We waited for fifteen minutes, watching servers come and go, before finally stopping one to ask if they were going to serve us. They asked what we wanted, but we hadn't even seen a menu.
Once we had their attention, everything was fabulous. It just shouldn't be so hard to get an establishment to take our money.
Food was good. Servers were very nice. Place was busy and full when we were there. Mostly a younger crowd, but a few boomers here and there as well. A bit noisy for me.
Absolutely delicious food.... must try eggplant fries!!! Will be back for more
Amazing tacos and drinks! Try the brisket or the shrimp you will not be disappointed. The gm or owner is very hands on and always helping the staff. The servers are very nice and always trying their hardest even when they are packed. Definitely worth a visit.
I took a couple of friends here during their layover at the Mpls airport. The restaurant is only 15 minutes away, easy parking, service is very good and the food is excellent! Prices are very reasonable. This is not your typical Mexican food - definitely lives up to its reputation. Although I live 40 minutes away I plan to make Sonora Grill my go to destination for Mexican food.
Got takeout and it was ready when I came to pick it up. Tacos are delicious and the steak burrito was sooo good. For sure going back to dine in. Thank you for the great food.
Amazing food!!!!!! No lie!!!!! It was so great!!!! I also liked their margaritas! The bartender was awesome! Great spot! Nice looking patio! Loved the spicy margarita and the shrimp bowl!
The shrimp tempura tacos are amazing! I've wanted to explore the rest of the menu, because i'm sure it's delicious, but those tacos are too good to pass up. The gaucamole and elotes are excellent as well. Pre-Covid a couple people kindly offered to take me out for my birthday and I went there three nights in one week. So good! Great atmosphere and friendly staff too.
The food was amazing! First time here and I will definitely be back!
I had the Barbacoa, Al Pastor, and steak tacos, they are loaded with meat and topped perfectly! I added a white sangria which was very delicious. Great service and they have happy hour!
It's been several years since we've gone. Went for lunch on a Tuesday. The service was efficient and friendly. I had the Sonora dog which was excellent. Excellent balance of flavors. Fries were above-average. My spouse had the mushroom taco and the fish taco which were both fine. The patio is pet friendly. Pretty darn good experience. We'll be back.
Great outdoor seating. Text ordering. Brunch was delicious.
Excellent food, yet a little on the expensive side. I recommend a table on the patio if you can.
Excellent food and service! I would recommend the tacos especially the red tempura shrimp! Their nachos are also delicious and great for sharing. They always have a good selection of craft beer, their Sonora Margarita is excellent and there are lots of others drink options. Never seems too busy meaning you can get a table with little or no wait.
Coming from Texas, I've been looking for a good Mexican food place in Minnesota for years and I finally found it. Sonora Grill has exceptional tacos, and even does BBQ well. Plus their margarita mix is sublime, uses real agave!
Sonora Grill was excellent! Good food, and excellent service. And it felt very safe - you text your order to the kitchen, it's served by a masked server, and there is minimal contact overall. Social distancing is observed and all tables are the appropriate distance apart. I will definitely go back, especially on a warmer day so I can eat on the patio!
Service is hit or miss but the happy hour is a good deal, as is taco Tuesday. Best/only Al pastor in town. Pretty consistent with the food quality. Nice patio. Good seating arrangement, lots of tables and booths to accommodate lots of groups.
Id give the food a 4/5 and the rest a 3/5.
Tacos were good overall, the shrimp taco and fish taco were great, the pork guajillo was pretty good but nothing special, and the roasted mushroom was disappointing. Service was very slow (seemed like only 2 or 3 servers for the whole restaurant) and there was no ice in the water on a 90F day (sitting outside). I'd come back for happy hour tacos.
Super high quality street tacos and margaritas - I’d give 6 stars if I could! Highly recommend the chicken, shrimp, and pastor tacos! La Violets marg was unique as well!
This place was great! Excellent food, service, and drinks! I tried the shrimp tacos that the star Tribune wrote about and loved them. I ordered three thinking they'd be small. They come with two shells and splitting them into two was the best way to eat them, so really I got 6 small shrimp tacos. Very filling! Super spicy hot sauce and bloody Mary's, which I absolutely love! Nothing is ever hot enough for me, but they did it.
Really great food! Good atmosphere. Nicely designed - clean space. Kind of trendy - hipster - but not too bad.
We went for breakfast the last time we went and the breakfast food was really good. (Hash and breakfast burrito.) It was empty at breakfast time - no wait.
The server we had was kind of a space cadet. But not offensively so.
Overall - good experience.
Yummy! Great drinks but wished it had more beers on tap. However the food and service were great! I would love a taco platter to be added to the menu... like a sampler. This way I would not have to order each individually and get 5 or 6 different little plates. Other than that, great food, great drinks, great service! Thank you!
Delicious Mexican fare with outstanding service.
Crispy Shrimp Tacos and Fajitas - served by Nate who was 5 stars.
Great drinks and happy hour specials.
Excellent food with fast, gracious service. Everything I've ordered here is fantastic! All of the different kinds of tacos, their nachos, the Sonora burger is superb. Plus they have great fries with a tasty sauce! Try it all!
First the food is outstanding. ALL of it. Favorites are the tempura shrimp tacos, eggplant fries, skirt steak taco, chicken tinga tacos and mushroom tacos. Outstanding Quarantine Judy margarita.
Second, if you care and have concerns about the pandemic, this is a safe restaurant. Tables are appropriately spaced, disposable menus, text your order from table, hand sanitizer. Make your reservation on the open table app.
One of my favorite restaurants in the city. Always friendly staff. Food is always so good! Plus taco Tuesday deals! The shrimp is so dang good. I think about that shrimp all the time. Get it in tacos or in a bocadillo (sandwich) with that aioli! Oh my gosh. Also good margaritas and tap list! Nice clean atmosphere and a good patio. Also I live that I never have an issue parking as they have a lot. Oh yeah! And their brunch! They have an awesome brunch! And happy hour! 😃
The food was delicious and our waitress was super bubbly and friendly. She knew everything on and about the menu, which I very much appreciated! The only thing I would have to criticize is that the tables don't have coasters for the cups, and the tables get super wet and sloppy. I think with this improvement this restaurant would be top notch!
Went here on a date and thought I was being kidnapped, but it turned out for the best! Get the nachos!! The tacos are about $5 a piece but bigger portion and packed with flavor. Try their hot sauces. It's not authentic Mexican, it's upscale Mexican cuisine with an added punch in flavor and presentation.
I have never reviewed a restaurant before, but this place is amazing! We ordered delivery during covid and the food was still outstanding. The tacos are packed full and probably the best tacos we've ever had. The empanadas are also delicious!
I don't know what some of these bad reviews are about, but I didn't feel that the food was overpriced at all for the portions you get.
Definitely give this place a try if you're in Minneapolis!
Love it. Happy hour deals are spectacular. Drinks are proper. Food is on par with other higher end taco joints. Service is always adequate. I visit frequently.
Their new summer drinks were refreshing yet full of flavor! The food never lets me down and our server was amazing. She walked us through our menu questions and helped us pick the best meal. Can't wait to go back!
Best tacos in Minneapolis Ive found. I’m a big rusty taco fan but when you need a little more class and food with flair this is the place. Service can be slow but the food is worth the wait. Plus taco Tuesday discounts! Love it!
This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in the Twin Cities. Food is super fresh, authentic Mexican flavors, and great service. I'm not an expert on Mexican food - haha - but this place serves it up right.
The atmosphere here is fun and upbeat, and the food is delicious! Their shrimp tempura tacos are spectacular.
Menu is always delicious, with unique cocktail options!
I'm never disappointed here (although I always miss having their Midtown Global Market location, even after all these years!). I tried the nachos for the first time recently and loved them. At first i thought they would be too dry for my taste, but the cheese sauce and beans were just right! The spicy margarita was oh-so-spicy... in a very good way!
Needed a place close by for dinner and found taco heaven. The queso dip was so good we needed a second bowl of it. Staff was bubbly and quick to offer advice on food. If you need a date night, look no further.
Excellent Mexican food! Our server was super nice and very helpful, always came and refilled our water without asking, also made sure we had everything we needed. The tacos seem spendy before you buy but you really get a good amount of meat on them! The atmosphere is a little country western slash Mexican but overall it's nice! Love the Margheritas!
I like the chicken quesadilla, but many of the other meals are also great. Clean, good atmosphere for visiting. Nice neighborhood restaurant!! Support them!!
Love this place. The ambiance is really great; dim enough for folks to look good, but bright enough that you can view your amazing food. My go to is the chicken taco, shrimp taco, and a margarita (or 3). The servers are very attentive and the food service is timely. There's always a diverse crowd, which I really love. On a given night, there are all races and economic levels, because, honestly, everyone loves thoughtful, delicious Mexican food. Since moving to Minnesota, this spot is solid proof that the Midwest can do amazing ethnic food.
Decent but I would not recommend it for anyone looking for authentic tasting Mexican food. COVID dining is challenging but I have never had so many flies as part of my dining experience as I had here and the service was slow because the servers were overwhelmed with pick ups and patio diners. The flies could be reduced by having the garbage well away from the outdoor diners or at least having it covered.
Outstanding COVID-19 safety measures! I ordered by phone and paid with a credit card. The food was left between the outside door and the restaurant door, so I had no contact while getting takeout food. Everything was -- of course -- just as yummy as usual. (My kids love their food, too!) I really appreciate businesses that prioritize the health and safety of their employees and customers. GREAT JOB, SONORA!
This is more of a place to go out to on a date, after the movies, or a night out with the ladies. I thought I read somewhere that this was a family restaurant but like i said i feel that it was more of a night out kinda place.
Overall pros: the food was good, service was good, atmosphere seemed nice.
Cons: The portion was small for the pricing. A kids meal was a bigger portion size than a regular adult dinner entree.
I loved the Sonora Grill. I went there on a blind date tonight 😍. The food was fantastic. Service was friendly and fast☺ Drinks were excellent. Atmosphere was casual. I can't wait for the patio to open when we finally get some nice weather! And the price was inexpensive but excellent quality food. I highly recommend SONORA GRILL …
This is an excellent place to get authentic Mexican food. The restaurant has a very modern feel, and the staff is friendly and prompt. The food is delicious, and they have great options for people who aren't super hungry. No matter what you are in the mood for, they have it on the menu, including some very unique dishes you can't get anywhere else. Their salsa has an excellent kick to it that isn't for the casual Mexican fan. A great eating experience. I highly recommend the Hermosillo Roll.
I didn't expect such awesome food from this place. I practically devoured everything on my plate. The service was also excellent. I definitely plan to eat here again!
Excellent shrimp & pork tacos, outdoor seating, text your order, good distancing. Tables 6+ feet apart. Servers wore masks & gloves. Good safe service! Great food!
Went to the new uptown location recently and was curious about this one. I left unimpressed but a few friends assured me that I would have a better experience in Longfellow. They were definitely right. It was extremely busy but we didn’t have to wait long (understanding of the nice weather and it being taco Tuesday) the staff did a great job at making sure we had been helped. (Was asked multiple times) they do not have a host stand which being a small place, makes sense. The food was a hit & came out pretty quick. It’s $1 off their quality tacos every Tuesday which was nice. The only thing I was confused about was that we didn’t receive knives in our silver wear. Not a huge deal, just felt odd. I really loved the Greenway cocktail, it was refreshing and adorable. I bike the Greenway almost every day so it was a nice touch to our visit. Even though we don’t live in the neighborhood, We’ll be back. (Might have to actually take the Greenway next time) :)
This is a great place for delicious South American food. The tacos are generously made and delicious. The cocktails are a bit pricey, but almost worth it. This is a great place to meet friends to eat, drink and catch up on life. If you take a risk and order the paella for two, you and your buddy won't be disappointed. You will also have plenty left over for breakfast or lunch the next day. The elote is to die for, especially if you love sweet superfresh corn, coconut rice, and savory white sauce. (Yum.) My only gripe about this place is that never give you enough salsa. This can be annoying because the salsa and chips are the very best in town. This Longfellow dining at its best.
Had appetizer early dinner. Great choices for spicy, non-spicy, and proteins. Excellent quality, presentation, and service. Ate inside, although the patio was well attended. A place to definitely re-visit with friends!
Amazing breakfast burrito! The complimentary chips and salsa were super good too!
I love this place so much I have taken all of my friends, family, and coworkers here at one point or another. Service can be a little slow but it’s worth the wait - the food is amazing. Nobody I’ve dined with has ever had anything they didn’t like. My favorites are the elote, pastor tacos, chilaquiles with pork guajillo, and paella. And the spicy margarita (obregon) is easily the best margarita I’ve ever had anywhere. And once a friend and I sat ourselves at 6:50pm on New Year’s eve, not realizing they were closing at 7, and they were so super nice, insisted that we take our time and enjoy, and offered us a couple top shelf tequila shots for a bargain just because. Go!
Food is delicious and atmosphere is good. Food is americanized Mexican food. Prices are expensive but get a good amount of food
My GF and I go here all the time for beer and Taco's. Never had a bad experience. The shrimp Taco's are obviously great, but don't sleep on the fish Taco's!
Service was super friendly and the four cocktails that were ordered were great. The flautas verdes was decent. The two tacos ordered were disapointing for $5-6 apiece and the hotdog was good but not spectacular by any means; the accompanying fries were better. Overall the food was not worth the price considering the other great options for Mexican food around the cities and there's no reason to return unless it's for cocktails/happy hour.
They have a great setup for operating safely during COVID. Staff is friendly as always and the food continues to be amazing. The Pork Pastor and Shrimp Tempura tacos are a must have and the Sonora cocktail is great on a summer day.
I stumbled upon Sonora via other Google reviews looking for the best tacos in Minneapolis.
I must say, I was not disappointed. The Shrimp Tempura taco is to die for. It's simple, tasty, and the aioli complements the flavor just perfectly. It could probably do with a little less cabbage, but that's easy enough to pick off!
The staff is friendly, the bartenders know how to make a good cocktail, and the ambiance is unique. Unfortunately, it's too cold to sit on the patio, but it's a great place to have dinner and sip a few cocktails.
Definitely would recommend stopping by if you're looking for Mexican cuisine with a non-traditional twist!
Food was pretty good and reasonable priced maybe a little on the high end. Walked in and stood there for a minute until someone said to seat yourself, a sign would be nice. Big part of the rating is long wait. Waiter was nice and friendly but they were super short staffed. 3 waiters/waitresses and 1 bartender for dinner rush. Food takes a little long but they say that on their menu. Didn't drink but seemed like they had a large drink selection which specializes in tequila. Definetly a different type of menu, check it out before you go.
Went there for dinner and we ordered the Shrimp tempura tacos, chips and guacamole and Sea Food Bichi and Brisket Burrito. The seafood bichi is a soup basically almost like Mexican version of pho but with chunks of crab and scallops, add all the toppings and the tortilla and it was super flavorful and delish. My fav dish was the brisket burrito. It was like a birria taco/shawarma rolled into a burrito. Dip it into the sauce and you’ve got a blast of flavor! Everything was delicious. I’m coming back!
Found this place on a whim, and we're so glad we did! The tacos were outstanding, if it would have been acceptable to lick our plates we would have.
Our server was super friendly and offered us many recommendations. Great place! We'll be back for sure.
I love people who know what they do, and this restaurant masters the taste of Mexican cuisine , Prices are a little high , but the food is very good
Delicious food, love the eggplant fries and fish tacos! When picking up order, they forgot one item and they drove out to the suburbs to drop it off. Wow. Amazing service.
Great outdoor seating- fun food
Fast and friendly service. Good food and large portions - could have easily split an entree!
The atmosphere is nice and bubbly. We ordered the empanadas, elotes, tacos, seafood bichi, and adobado. The elotes and adobado had coconut milk rice, which was too heavy handed on the coconut milk. Only one of the vegetarian tacos was good, and the other was just so-so. This was our second time eating here, and both times were decent but not as good as we hoped.
If I lived closer to this place I would be a regular. I've never had a bad meal. The lengua tacos are some of the best and if they have shishito peppers on the menu you should order them.
Great food. Unfortunately the night we went, my SO's birthday no less, they were severely understaffed and the service was EXTREMELY slow. The servers were literally running around trying to get things done and simply didn't have the bandwidth to give us even adequate attention. We will try again another time and hope for a better experience.
Delicious chilaquiles, guacamole (tacos were a hit in my group too: shrimp tempura & mushroom). Really reasonably priced for portions. Nice laid back lunch overall.
The queso is delicious, and the margs are hand- crafted and delicious. Thank you to the friendly and helpful staff. We will definitely return.
Order was intially wrong and while it was fixed, the kitchen and waitress was confused. Also, $5+ dollars for a single taco seems expensive. They're very tasty but we're much better in Global Market... Stand alone has lost some of its quality.
The shrimp tacos are amazing the tongue ones are pretty good as well. The service is always prompt and friendly. There obregon drink is one of my favorite in the cities it is tequila infused with serrano peppers delicious
Ooh the steak taco! Ooh the shrimp tempura taco! Yum. They have a brunch type menu on the weekends. My friends got two different entrees which were huge. I expected they'd get to-go boxes, but they gobbled up every morsel.
I give this place a 5 because their food is delicious! The margarita top notch. Awesome patio. BUT-they need to see this review and fire miss thang that has greasy hair and wears it up in a bun. You know the rude server that runs around with her head cut off and is extremely rude to customers? I went here last Sunday & brought my dogs with me because their patio allows it. This server whose name I wish I knew, embarrassed my friend and I in front of everyone by saying very loudly, excuse me we are short staffed and are trying not to sit people on the patio. But I guess I’ll make an exception and you can sit here with your dogs, after I told her I can put them in the car. She was attentive at first and then after our food came, we never saw her again. We had to go tell the owner that we wanted another round. (They did comp those drinks). We also saw her yell at another family that they couldn’t sit on the patio and she told us about a family that called and wanted a table for 8 people. She was extremely annoyed. Maybe they were short staffed. Maybe they were busy, but that’s not my problem. I told a friend who goes to Sonora about her and she said yep I know who you’re talking about she yelled at us too. FIRE HER SONORA. Please.
Excellent bar and food selection. A serious selection of tequila on a great bar both stock and looks aka great woodwork. The food which is a good southwestern variety gas some great tacos and tortas. There is also a really nice patio outside.
Food is pretty good, (skirt tacos/chicken verde yum!) but wouldn't go again on a busy night. Food can be delicious but hospitality was not there, sat at the bar top and she was not very polite. Asked for a couple things that never got to me.
Definitely will try maybe for lunch on a weekday see if things go any different.
Setup a reservation for Labor Day because it said they were open. Even got updates for the reservation, but we showed up and they were closed. 30 minute drive for nothing.
Came back when they were open and the food was decent.
Great patio, nicely decorated inside. I tried the tacos and wasn't dissapointed. The mango margarita was a fun treat as well.
I had possibly the best tacos I’ve ever had at this restaurant. They have a nice large patio and friendly staff. I highly recommend it.
Food is obviously delicious without a doubt but the service was good as well. My girlfriend & I had a different server that accidentally forgot about us but Alyssa seem to always be there even though we weren't in her section ! Thanks again !
Sonora Grill is what my life has been missing. The service was personal and quick, and the food was some of the best Mexican I've had in like, ever.
Some thoughts-
Shrimp tacos- Think Asian tempura style breading but with all the flavor.
Flour shells- Homemade, chewy, and served warm.
Cucumber margarita- Perfection... light, refreshing, and boozy.
However, IMHO, the gnocchi takes the cake. It was seared, so the outside had a nice crunch. The sauce was creamy and spicy without being too creamy and spicy, and the cojita on top was dreamy. I was literally talking to my gnocchi and thanking it for being part of my life (and I was only one cucumber marg in at that point).
I cannot wait to go back and eat more tacos, more gnocchi, and try the elote.
Great ambiance, food and drinks! I highly recommend coming here. I waited a long time for my margarita, however, the food was staggered perfectly to encourage sharing and great conversation. As soon as the was a lull, the next plate arrived.
Relaxed atmosphere with unique drinks and elevated Street tacos. The portions are generous so the prices are justified.
Came here for brunch for the first time. Ordered steak eggs benedict and when my food came I thought it looked strange. But I saw steak slices and eggs so I figured maybe this is the way they make it? It wasn't until I got home that I realized my waitress got my order wrong and I was actually eating chilaquiles verdes. Although the food was good it just sucks that I didn't get what I had ordered.
Great selection. Short wait. Strong drinks. My only problem was there weren't any indication of the taco size or portions. But besides that I had an excellent experience.
I absolutely adore this place! Great food, drinks and the service is ALWAYS friendly. If you're looking for a good margarita with friends, this is the place. Highly recommend the shrimp tacos!
Definitely one of the best margaritas I have ever had, with the bonus of only being $5 during Happy Hour!
Great food for a great price. Alot of flavor and the service is sensational, highly recommend if you are wanting authentic Mexican food and a friendly atmosphere. 🥰 …
My first time here and all was great. The shrimp taco was phenomenal, as in best seafood taco I have ever had. If the food and service are this good when I return, I would give them 5 stars.
Update - Sonora grill was one of our go-to takeout spots during lockdown.
This place is worth going to.
I've just either had slow service, or meh tacos.
Best food in the area the staff are excellent, the food is always good, the presentation on the food is top notch! And lets not forget the house made margaritas....delicious!! Well done! I was a cook for over 15yrs and held 2 executive chef positions, and im telling you this place is amazing!!!
Well done sonora.
Ps thanks again for the ceviche send back, my wife loves that dish!!!
I moved to Arizona, from Minneapolis, 3 years ago and still want Sonora tacos every time I come home. Everything I’ve tried is good but the shrimp tacos are sooo good.
Great food - unique tastes - and the service couldn't have been better.
We moved to Longfellow a few months ago and this is certainly one of our go-to spots. The food is always on point and the drinks are wonderful. The tongue and chicken al pastor caramellos are my favorite. The elote is an essential item for any order.
The staff is super knowledgeable about the menu and makes great recommendations. Nick re-opened the patio for us so we could sit out there with our dogs and was incredibly hospitable despite the fact that we showed up just before the kitchen closed.
I can't speak highly enough about this place.
Okay, so I wasn’t sure what rating to give this review, but I wanted as many people as possible to see this. Have you ever once called a restaurant where the guy that answers the phone says these words: “We are not taking to-go orders right now.” My response; “Oh really, how come?” His response: “because we are too busy...”.
That’s just unreal... never heard that before in my life. Go ahead and keep turning down paying customers... I hope the owner sees this. And I hope your food is good...
Can we take a minute to appreciate the steak taco? The homemade flower tortilla. The fresh/ creamy homemade guac. The hash brown breakfast with turkey chorizo. I could seriously eat ANY meal here and be completely satisfied. Dreaming about your shrimp taco 2,000 miles away. 😘 Bias because I used to work here. No shame. …
Excellent food excellent service. The cocktails were great and the brisket and chicken things Travis were phenomenal. 10/10 for the homemade churros too
Top notch food and drinks, kind staff, and nice patio. This has become a reliable spot for small plates, grabbing a cocktail, or enjoying and anniversary meal.
Seemed like they were super understaffed, but might've just been a fluke. The server was hustling and did a good job regardless. Drinks were great, and the guac was tasty but the portion might've been a bit small for the price (compared to other places, I know guac is expensive).
These tacos are HUGE. They have a variety of meats and veggie options, I love the cactus one, and they are all loaded with ingredients. Good tacos they are, authentic they are not. Also, get the queso!
Sonora doesn't require too many words. Just go, order whatever you want, and enjoy. It's that simple! Easy to share small plates, good beer selections/well-stocked bar, casual atmosphere. I will be back...often!
Sonora is one of our favorite places. The tacos and margaritas are excellent. I had the chicken rojo and tempura shrimp tacos. They are always amazing. I also highly recommend trying the side of elote.
I enjoyed the food. The "Sabor de Sonora" was a taco enthusiast's dream. It's like taco a la carte but la carte is on a platter. Choice of 3 meats. Guacamole, elote roast corn, black beans, pico. The margaritas were spicier than the salsas. Mine was a smoky, spicy, mango habañero with plenty of tequila. The space is generous, the bar and communal slab tables in a chill Southwest setting. A Gem of East Lake.
This place... Amazing menu choices, amazing service, amazing ambiance! Eschews the "normal" choices of what you might expect at a Mexican spot...and leaves you anxious for more! I highly recommend Sonora for all your food, function, and fun needs!
Fantastic food on Lake Street. The patio was closed (rain) but it looks just as great as the inside. Both the food and the drinks were top-notch!
LOVED the experience! We were looking for a good spanish place and this was definitely it! The decor was lovely, the person that took care of us asked the right questions to recommend the right dish. If you are in the area, its a must to come and dine here!!!!!!
You have to check out my TikTok about the corn best ever I swear
Had breakfast on a Friday morning, absolutely loved it.
Update on 4/1. Menu has changed and prices gone up. Not what it used to be. Bummer because the food was really good and you could ignore the growing pains and inconsistent service because of that. Now the food is "meh" and the service is just OK. Not a great combination for longevity in Minneapolis.
I'd definitely call this place "underrated".
The food is really pretty good.
The margaritas are second-to-none.
The prices are great for what it is.
The service is friendly and really not bad at all.
You should check this place out
Excellent food, great service too. The owners are active and typically will stop over at your table to check on your experience, what's better than that? Tacos are legit
Nice decor, good Margarita's, friendly staff, delicious Pork Empanadas and chorizo beans. Will definitely be back. 😋 …
Good food, the tacos are really good, far more authentic than most other places on Lake street. They even make pancakes forbmy kids so it's easy for me to go with them and I can get food I like and my kids are happy too!
The food, service and cocktails are top notch. You can tell a lot of time and effort went into both the restaurant design and menu. Also, the shrimp bocadillo is the best.
The food is amazing. I can't really say enough good about it. I'd recommend the beans and rice for a small dish, and any taco if you aren't too hungry.
It is all so good that you can't go wrong.
( Loring Park Location ) Excellent food, service, ambiance. The Flautas were amazing...Our waitress Barson was the best ever!!
Wow! Second time here and the food was even better then the first time. Place was hopping and staff was scrambling but overall the quality of the food made me understand why they were so busy. Scratch food at modest pricing. And it's in my neighborhood.
Delicious!!!! Shrimp Tempura taco and tongue taco are my favorite. The combos of flavors are perfect.
My favorite margarita is the Obregon. Fresh flavor with a hint of spice.
Good food, great service. The empanadas are delicious. The outdoor patio is really nice, though somewhat cramped. Minor criticism: food portions are a bit small.
Just great, my server Mariah was the best. I wasn't sure about what to order and she served me the best enchilada ever. Thanks Mariah I'll b back.
The price is too high for quesadilla corn on the coob is $25 with a lil meat on the quesadilla . price was good at $17 until price go back to $17 i wont spend my $ their any more.
Since my husband and I moved down from Duluth, this has been our favorite place to go! Friendly staff, diverse, amazing food my favorite dish is the Mexican ceviche and tempura shrimp delicious!hands down best margaritas in town! Thank you!
We had a fabulous lunch here! Service was great and the patio was awesome! Can't wait to go back for brunch soon!
Best tacos and bordillos!!! Staff are always friendly and accommodating for tiny humans. I have never had a bad meal and I eat here a lot.
Stopped here with a friend for Happy Hour. Great service and delicious nachos!
I’m not the one to complain about prices but, $6 for a single extra small taco.?... y’all playing these white folks.... I’m Mexican I cook tacos all the time I’m unimpressed. Mine are better I’ll stick with mine and spend less.
Awesome food. Coyotas were really good and the hand made flour tortillas for the tacos make a big tasty difference.
Delicious food and cocktails. Each taco includes enough to have two and Sonora's take on elote is wonderful (I could eat two orders).
Exceptional cocktails! Try the serrano pepper margarita and white sangria. Their tempura shrimp tacos are wonderful Mexican fusion.
One of the best restaurants in Minneapolis. Creative but reliably great food and drinks. Excellent service and ambiance. Has some very affordable menu items- something for everyone!
Great food, never call to order take out they are rude and tell you to go online.
I’m pretty sure they put crack in the rice with the elote. Food is consistently amazing, as well as always great service. Janna is my favorite bartender in the twin cities
Our server Kyle was great and the food was super tasty. Definitely recommend this place!
Very nice staff. Really good food. Fantastically slow service. Worth trying twice to account for what I imagine to be a fluke.
I've been here more times in the last three months than any other restaurant and that's because the tacos are delicious, the eggplant fries are amazeballs, and whatever that aoili is that you get with the bocadillo burger and fries keeps me up at night with cravings. A real hidden gem.
Very good tacos, especially the tongue taco. Be adventurous and try it out, you won't regret it. The chicken Al pastor is incredible too.
Excellent dining experience!! Great atmosphere and a nice staff. The flautas, tongue taco, chicken al pastor, chocolate empanada and Sonora margaritas, perfection. I highly recommend this place.
Outstanding tacos! Delicious salsas. Great atmosphere. Highly recommended!
Went for lunch on the patio. Our server was attentive and had helpful suggestions. The empanadas were delicious, as was the quesadilla. While the food was outstanding, I feel like it was overpriced.
I recommend the Molletes, over easy eggs, turkey chorizo with their spicy sauce on the side! Healthy portion, great flavor, all for around $9. We all ate something different and all were happy!
I Ordered from doordash and their food is just absolutely AMAZING mouthwatering 😍😍 I highly recommend & I don’t usually give reviews but this place deserves one. …
Looks like this place is changing ownership and the menu is changing. A few things on the menu weren't available. Still all good is delicious and attentive service. Love the lengua taco.
Excellent and unique food. Nice, bright, open space. Wonderful service. Parking lot. Celiac friend had no problem finding options.
I've been a regular since they opened and go most every week. The menu is unique and you can get as much or as little as you want. Try the shrimp carmello and the rice and beans.
Im a very picky eater, i ordered seafood separated from remainder of food. I cannot stand fishy smelln food. Loved the dish, good margarita, again meal for two. Grilled food i dont have too often. Yum. Tried the side dish first that you provided of seafood disappear. Ate it all, and the butter! Rice dish, chicken, chorizo, etc grubn. Somebody will probably try and steal remainder. Cant wait to eat the leftovers tock, tick tock. Yum
The menu is mainly upscale Mexican and everything we had was very good with large portions. It is a little spendy.
Delicious tacos at a decent price! I came to this place on a Sunday night and it was comfortably busy. Good service and a friendly crowd!
Good drinks some of the food was great, but the breakfast skillet, fish and Tika tacos were all forgettable
The food is always top notch I've been knowing these dudes since they were in the Global Market. At least one owner is on deck working and food is always top notch. THE GUANTANAMO drink try that. I only gave 4 stars because you're closing too early mannnnn you're killing me
One of our favorite local spots to bring friends. Their tacos and cocktails are great!
Me and my daughter had a great time there. Service was great. An love
the tacos.
Cool waitress fast service. Food wasn't what I was expecting going to a "Mexican Restaurant" but, it was a pleasant twist. We will be back
Great service! The food is a fusion from the original but great! Started with a petty calm atmosphere and within minutes the place was full!!! I will go back there!
Great spot for lunch or dinner. Tacos are especially next level. Service is great and food is served pretty fast over the lunch hour. Recommend it.
Might be my new favorite Mexican joint in the twin cities!!! Every menu item I’ve has slaps in a way that is always beyond expectation. GO HERE
Love the food and their Happy hour. Great service tonight! Thanks, Kate.
Great food, great space, great owners. I highly recommend the shrimp tempura tacos but you can't really go wrong here.
Amazing Food! The Sangria was Fantastic, Jalapeno Margarita was also Amazing!
Happy hour here is the best thing! Food is great, service is friendly. Can't wait to come in the summer to sit on the patio!
My favorite restaurant!! The Obregon and the Sonora margaritas ARE THE BEST MARGARITAS EVER!!!! The food is amazing and I wish I could buy the cilantro aioli by the gallon!!
Good quasedillas and chicken asado- fresh and delicious. Despite being a busy Saturday night, the waitress was both prompt and polite. Good drinks, good food, good service.
Super delicious food at very reasonable prices. Wait staff was very friendly and service was quick. I recommend the eggplant fries for an app!
The tacos are amazing. Favorite place to hit up during happy hour. Highly recommend a couple margaritas as well!
Tacos were great. Recommend getting the happy hour margarita, great taste and price. Shrimp are amazing!
Good food, reasonable prices, and decent service. Feels like it used to be a fast food restaurant, so the atmosphere is a little lacking, but worth a visit none the less.
Best tacos in Minneapolis apparently. If you have a friend try the 64oz Margarita. It is a trip. Had the seafood paella and it was incredible
Love the food here, have for years. Great restaurant atmosphere and service. Only problems are the prices are a little high and sometimes the kitchen is really slow.
Ordered the pork empenadas. They had great flavor but the monotony of the texture of the inner filling had me wishing for a side dish before I could finish them.
Sonora Grill is always top notch. I had a caramelo, (small taco) and eggplant fries with fabulous aoli sauce. Highly recommend Sonora.
Amazing food at a affordable price, have been here a few times now and will keep coming back. Side note: u can have a date night for around $40 or less.
My favorite brunch the chilaquiles are almost as good as my mom's. Everything I've ordered here has been delicious.
Awesome food you gotta try the beef tounge taco. Sounds weird but is so good.
Had a great time with my kids and their others. Love the food and drinks too
The Elote is sooooo delicious. Drinks are very good. Love the shrimp Carmelo. Maybe just a bit overpriced.
Great place to stop for a meal and a beer. Local beer selection and a variety of food options to appeal to everyone's taste buds are backed by excellent service
4 star cocktails, 3 star service. Friendly but slow. The Serrano pepper infused tequila made it worth it.
Free chips and salsa. The best Margaritas in Minnesota. Delicious Al Pastor. Great spot, nice patio.
Love coming here! Great service and delicious food, not to forget the amazing drinks! I definitely recommend this place.
Maybe it’s good , but we just tried the paella . Which is not good at all ... in my personal opinion the price is too high for the quality
The best! I had the fish taco, tried the rice, and had a delicious spicy drink. Amazing. Cannot wait to return.
Food was good. It would have been great to have more vegetarian options.
Excellent Latino food with an American twist. We've had excellent service the many times we've been there, it's a restaurant worth visiting.
The shrimp tempura in the shrimp tempura taco is huge compared to the corn tortilla. But it's delicious!
Great food, clean and welcoming atmosphere. Good service, very friendly and handling Corona virus challenges very well.
Got takeout it was great. Place is open looked very inviting I will dine in next trip. Thanks
Delicious brisket taco, with black aoli sauce
Some of the best food ever! I dream about the Adobado! A super fun and chill place. Everyone that works there rocks!
Excelente!, the food is on point.
Service, crafted sangria and dessert were really good. Definitely coming back.
Had breakfast here for the first time and it was amazing. The shrimp tacos were great as always
Classically creative. Traditional and innovative. The food and drinks are nothing short of astounding. I highly recommend Sonora Grill.
Great margaritas and happy hour makes them even greater! Also love the tacos and eggplant fries.
Delicious Mexican food! I had a salad and the house dressing was amazing! Great selection of beverages.
Normally I would give them at least a 4. But today the sevice was a little off. Eventhough the restuarant was nearly empty. Table was sticky, water warm, and food just not how I remember it
Great brunch! Try the Chilaquiles or the Hash Browns loaded with chihuahua cheese and Chorizo for a real taste of South America.
Love the chips and guacamole. The nachos are delicious and the tacos too!
Tacos were delicious. It was slower than expected for lunch, but the flavor made up for it.
Excellent happy hour and those shrimp tacos...
Good location. Friendly staff. Good drinks. The tacos isn't their strong point, though.
Great brunch. Not many choices, but it’s about quality not quantity. The portions and prices are great too!
Great food, decor is a bit. Confusing, but everything else makes up for it, staff was great, food came out artisan quality, and promptly. A total hidden gem in plain sight
This place is great! Try the chicken, it takes a minute but it is the juiciest, most tender chicken you have ever had a restaurant.
The service is knowledgeable and very friendly. The food is excellent. The building is clean rustic, and the experience is A+
The food was awesome but the service wait was suuuper long. Even for drinks. The waiter was really nice tho.
Always good food!! Original takes on the oldies, but not too original that it's weird food! The Elote' is not to be missed!!!
Great food . The experience made me feel safe . The eggplant fries are phenomena.
I had been there before but it seemed like a totally different places. Maybe my memory is not very good. The food was very good.
Shrimp tempura taco FTW
Prob a Covid casualty, but service was a bit slow at the start. But food was amazing - as always; and service was friendly and accurate.
Love this place. Happy for so many Gluten free options.
We had the empanadas and mushroom tacos as well as the guacamole. Everything was great! I'll definitely be back!
LOOOOVE the corn here!! Hands down the best ever. The Shrimp tacos are amazing too.
Chicken Rojo is absolutely amazing! Awesome outdoor patio and drinks.
The nachos were bomb. Everything else was mediocre in my book. Margs, quesadilla, tacos... mediocre.
Really enjoyed menu selections. Everyone in our party enjoyed their food. Spicy entrees!
Great service and food. Sat on the patio. The pork tacos were great.
Amazing fun place! Get there for happy hour and have the Sonora hotdog. Worth the drive in its self
The wait staff was wonderful The food was great it was very enjoyable and I will definitely be interested in going back there again!!😂 …
Food was great! Service was fair and prices are high, but the patio is nice.
The tacos are delicious, my favorite being the tempura shrimp. Good drinks, too.
Loved the burrito bowl!
Great Food, great prices, great service, great patio, great atmosphere. Otherwise it's just OK.
First time visiting this place and had no idea what to expect. Really great service... everyone very nice...food great. You gotta try the Eplole
Food and drinks were on point! Service was pretty lax, but we still had a good time. Would go back!
Really good chilaquiles. It does get quite loud so it was difficult to have a conversation without feeling like you had to talk over everyone in the room.
The taco is delicious, I don't like the main entree, though
Omg!!!! The food and service and not to mention...its also a tequila bar😂😂😂😂😂😂. I'll I'm going to say is...if you're reading this you must be on your way there for some goooooooood eatin and drinks! Enjoy …
Fresh, authentic Mexican fare. Delicious! Great refreshments. Try the Mamacita if you like rhubarb.
Service was good, cocktails ok. Food was pleasant enough. I wasn't"wowed".
Chicken Roja taco was awesome. The aoli was pretty delicious. Empanadas were tasty.
Great staff and delicious menu! I go here often and have never had a bad experience.
Excellent happy hour. Authentic tacos, and great outdoor seating.
Great drinks and meals. Most plates are smaller so you should order two things on the menu to be full.
Great tacos. Happy hour 2 - 5
Super underrated happy hour get stuffed for 5 bucks. Staff is helpful, casual and seem happy:) all the love
I tried the pinchos, skewered beef, chicken and shrimp with green MOJO rice. Excellent!
Amazing food and the happy hour was perfect. Can't wait to go again!
Happy hour power was stupid on point
Some of my favorite mexican comfort food in the twin cities and the best margarita I've ever had!
Great happy hour specials, and awesome tacos! Recommend the shrimp tacos :)
Best tacos in the twin cities!!! They also have delicious and interesting drinks!
Fantastic and colorful cocktails. Food is muy delicioso! 😍 …
Love their tongue tacos but the filling was slight on this visit. Great margaritas.
Very good and authentic food. I really enjoyed the homemade hot sauce.
I love this place. Great food and fun, its the Anticorporate environment that we should all embrace.
The food was pretty good. Something different to try for sure. Not much there for desserts.
This place was so good! I'm coming back for sure!
Great ceviche and tacos. Mexican beer on tap.
Get Tacos and service!
eggplant fries were delicious and the device was a little light on scallops but yummy.
They were swamped even with the dining room half full. The food was good and the bartender was great.
Small portions, overcrowded and overpriced. The food was tasty the marguarita wasn't....
