My first foyer into Ethiopian cuisine and I am VERY pleased!! I enjoy Indian/Korean/Mediterranean, but this may be my new favourite. We had dishes of lamb, chicken, beef and samosas, and I ate until I couldn't. The owner was so sweet and gracious with our questions. Spices permeate the air in this welcoming fragrence when you walk in. A must try experience!

I'm supremely pleased with my experience at Selam! The owner is very friendly and gracious, and the food is superb. I got the veggie sampler and everything was great. My favs were the yellow lentils and the spinach, but I had to stop myself eating more once I got full because it was all so delicious. I will be returning soon, especially since they were out of veggie sambusas and my mouth is watering just thinking about how delightful I know they'll be

Absolutely amazing! I highly highly recommend Selam. We had a craving for Ethopian and picked Selam and we will definitely be back! We were greeted by the owners and had some back and forth banter. So nice. And the service was lovely. We got the combo #28 and the food was hot and well presented. The combo was enough to feed 3 or 4 people so we brought home left overs. I ate until I was stuffed. The atmosphere was just special because of the owners and the kindness. They also have beer and wine and a special coffee machine which is awesome. Yum!!

Ordered takeout from here last night, and we really enjoyed our meal. The veggie platter was so satisfying - especially the lentil and spinach portions. The injera was perfection. Will be back for sure!

We really enjoyed our meal at Selam. There were many different and distinct vegetable and legume based dishes that were served on Injera. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The delicious smells from the kitchen made me feel as if I were entering a restaurant in Ethiopia rather than in the middle of Minneapolis. The owners and cooks came over to our table to answer questions and chat. The food and the entire experience was wonderful. Highly recommended.

Best veggie sampler in the Twin Cities. The lentil samosas are amazing too! Selam is my favorite. I would recommend it a million times! The owners and staff are great too! It’s always a wonderful experience.

We loved the food and hospitality of Selam! We ordered the Veggie combo platter (#25) and a meat dish (#19). It was comfort food for my soul. This was the 2nd time I've ever had Ethiopian food (1st time was years ago in Boston) and I'm officially hooked. They will see me drive the 45 minutes on a regular basis! We found Selam via a Google search. Reviews were good so we decided to give it a try and I'm glad we did. Go - and bring your friends!

Wow!! I would recommend Selam Restaurant to anyone who wants to trying REAL ethopian cuisine. The owner is very friendly. The food totally blew me off. The food was amazing! I love this place!!!

I am so glad I finally made time to go to this restaurant!! The veggie platter and samosas were absolutely amazing. I also tried an appetizer made of injera, some spices and some kind of cheese- can’t remember what it was called. It was delicious!! I will be back! I can’t wait to take my kids to try it!

Food & service was excellent. The owner even keep the restaurant open pass closing time until we were done without any pressure to finish fast. Highly recommend this spot for friendly atmosphere and amazing food. 👍

Went there today with my best friend, service was amazing. Food was delicious and arrived in a timely manner. Family owned business that cares about customer satisfaction. Went to countless Ethiopian restaurants but by far this one is the best!!!! Can’t wait to go again. Oh and their chai tea is amazing!!

Best Ethiopian food in the Twin Cities! We absolutely enjoyed our meals. The spices were outstanding, the portions were perfect, and the staff were so nice and friendly we couldn't have been happier. We cannot wait to eat here again. I would give it more stars if I could!

The food and service was 10/10. The woman cooking puts her heart into her dishes. The tiramisu was a great dessert and the coffee is good and strong. I will definitely be going back!

Excellent coffee! Nice staff. Though I will stop by for coffee to go again, I won't plan to bring my laptop and work. Not a traditional hipters writing blogs coffee shop experience...go to riverview for that. Wifi is free but poor.

If you haven’t tried it yet, I highly recommend Selam restaurant on Minnehaha Avenue at 39th St. They recently started serving Ethiopian food after being a coffee shop for many years. This is a family run restaurant, and they’ve done a great job of making it feel welcoming with a distinct Ethiopian atmosphere!

Me and my husband always come here. When I tell you it is the best Ethiopian restaurant, I mean it!!!The service is amazing, they make you feel so comfortable. We always get Macchiato when we are done eating too.The best!

Coffee shop with the usual hot and cold beverages (great hot cocoa) and samosas. Today they had chunks of Ethiopian bread wrapped in banana leaves. The decor is not fancy, but the staff is warm and friendly. Great poetry readings.

Popped in for coffee here. Friendly owner. Roasts his own beans (Ethiopian origin) which he gets from a local wholesaler, and made a fresh cup of coffee for me. Medium roast and it was delicious. None/Not a whole lot of variety as far as origins and roasts.

Good coffee at a fair price. Looks like a family business. Very friendly staff! This is a good place to go for good coffee and/or open stage events. Not really a sit-down study café but it's good coffee that you can take to go.

Selam has the best beans in town. After trying Spyhouse, Caribou, Collectivo, and several others Selam has the best. Plus a great atmosphere and very nice people! Try their home made bread too, and they use Ghirardelli chocolate for their mocha!
