Reviews of Revival MPLS

Overall really happy with everything. The ordering system works just fine, snap a pic of the QR code and order away. We just ordered items as we wanted them rather than order everything at once and that worked great.
Got the meat palace to try everything, I started with the brisket as an at home BBQ guy I know if they can execute that the rest will likely be good. It was very solid. Just a touch dry, but overall it was good. The pulled pork was excellent, I really liked the sausage, the ribs I thought were pretty good. Mac and Cheese is what you find at the other Revival locations and it's amazing. I thought the Kansas city and mustard based sauce were both very good as well. The Texas Twinkies appetizer had an awesome smoke flavor.

Awesome southern food at both locations, but we went to the Minneapolis restaurant on Sunday night. We didn't have to wait for a table. We had the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer and they were excellent. We had a variety of entrees including the fried chicken sandwich, pulled pork, brisket and macaroni & cheese. Everything was great, portions are large and sides are also good. The St. Paul location is larger and they also have chicken tenders available on the menu there.

The fried chicken at this place is the thing to get. It's so crispy regardless of which style you get. The Nashville style chicken was spicy and so tasty. They had some additional hot sauce to put on which was excellent. The waffle was perfectly cooked and had some delicious butter and syrup to go on it. The biscuits and gravy was buttery and delicious.
Andrea Kiepe
Great brisket, beautiful patio and friendly service. I thought the beet salad was pretty underwhelming (so much marscapone and kinda light on the beets and arugula IMO). The Reuben was good, though not in the same league as the brisket. Surprisingly good chicken salad, just a simple dish made really well. Good overall and a very pleasant place to dine.

Great atmosphere and fantastic food! I had the spicy 🌶 chicken sandwich + Mac n cheese, collard greens and lemonade. My server was amazing. Very attentive and sweet. Just got back from Miami the same day where the service was pretty bad everywhere I ate. So it was refreshing to have such amazing service again!

Prepare for food-lightenment by the power of a mountain of fried chicken 🤯🤩🤤
First is the Southern Fried Chicken. It is by far the best chicken I’ve ever had. Such moist meat, and the crispy outside is absolutely ridiculous. They serve this Sweet Potato Habanero sauce on the side that is totally bomb too.
Then the cheese curds, which shattered like glass to give way to the dripping melted inner goodness.
And then the Hot Chicken and Waffles. Unbelievable. The dish balanced savory and sweet so perfectly. Every bite is an experience. This one left me shook.
The Mac and Cheese was baked goodness. The Hush Puppies were lightly fried but freaking insanely flavorful. The Biscuits blew us out of the water. The Grits are cooked with white cheddar, an excellent complement to this southern fried feast.
And then the Banana Cream Pie. Smooth, sweet, and made with fresh bananas, I immediately reacted audibly with an “mmmmmm!” 😆😋
This is the one, folks. The new favorite restaurant. And I believe it will become yours too, just a few bites in. Shoutout to Greta and Angel, the two who made our first Revival visit truly special!
Check it out and let me know what ya think! 😁

Pineapple mojito was amazingly delicious! Beef brisket and sauce was good. My mac and cheese was cooked perfectly. Cornbread was delightful. Can’t wait to come back and try more items!

It's a great spot and I'd definitely recommend checking it out! We split the "Meat Palace" and it was a perfect amount of food to split between three grown men. The ribs were phenomenal, good sauces too. The services was perfect! They have nice patio seating but could use more shade out there. Overall excellent spit that is well worth visiting!

I have to keep coming back. This place has the best fried chicken ever. Try the Tennessee hot. It's not super spicy but it has just the right amount of everything. When I need my fried chicken fix, this is the only place I'll come to.
Jason Boren
Great spot! Paige helped us out during our visit. Highly recommend and will be returning when in town.
We were looking for a great burger and this fit the bill. The bun was critical in ensuring this thing held together. It was soft but provided enough support to hold the double and didn’t get soggy under the patties. Dressing, cheese, and pickles were excellent.
Sides were very tasty. Have to shout out the carrots for not being too sweet. Mac & cheese and grits were excellent.
Not pictured were the Texas Twinkies. Jalapeño poppers stuffed with cream cheese and brisket. Wrapped in bacon and smothered is pepper jelly. Ho boy they were good.

If you have a taste for chicken! Not just any chicken try this place. And If like your chicken spicy 🌶 try this place.
Revival chicken MPLS is the place to go.
This place is small, but it will give a just what you are looking for, from tasty classic fried chicken to a delicious Cajun style chicken.
Delicious mashed potatoes, to bourbon caramelized carrots🥕 and Mac+Cheese!
Just try it, you won’t be disappointed! 😋
Denise Randall
My anticipation and expectations was high because Revival is so delicious. Came during a time when menu items were limited so I wasn't able to try everything I wanted. It wasn't bad so I'm willing to give them another shot. My drink was absolutely amazing!
Ashley Swarmer
We had to try more than one thing on our stop at Revival. We left very full and very satisfied.
Each of our food choices were full of flavor and perfectly cooked.
The servers were good, and the vibe is perfect.
Small space, and offers patio seating.
Menu is a little small, but everything sounded so tasty!
We got:
- chicken and waffles (Tennessee hot)
- Brisket Hash from the brunch menu
- side of cornbread
- side of Mac and cheese
We couldn’t pick a favorite of the meal. We enjoyed every last bite!
Will stop again if in the area. This is one of 3 locations in the Minnesota Twin Cities.
Sara Peterman
Cheese curds were a yummy start. My son loved his burger....the double with bacon. I decided to try the chicken sandwich and I wish I had stuck with the burger too.... chicken had too much yuck that needed to be cleaned off.
Cyrus Rezvanifar
Very tasty food, nice and friendly staff. We tried the “whole bird”, mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, and cheese curd. All were a bit greasy, but very delicious. If you like spicy food, definitely get the Tennessee hot.
Kyle Schleis
Dined in before heading downtown for a Timberwolves game, and it was awesome. I had the hot chicken and waffles here previously and it was crunchy, juicy, and flavorful. Last night I gave the smoked meats a try and they did not disappoint. Brisket, burnt ends, and ribs were absolutely outstanding. Great service from the wait staff as well!
Natalie
This place HITS! Not to mention the staff is kind & welcoming. I used to live in Louisiana so this felts like a lil piece of the south which was awesome. Chicken dinner white meat ‘southern style’ (no heat) & the chicken & waffle dark meat ‘Tennessee hot’. The mustard coleslaw is 🔥 GET THE BANANA CREAM PIE!
Leslie Gates
Excellent food with huge portions! Met the chef who was humble and grateful for our accolades! Will definitely go again whenever I'm in the area!
Greg Abbott
Great food and an attentive staff. I had the brisket, which was good, but a little tougher than I expected it to be. Others in my party had the chicken tenders, which were huge and juicy. I'll try those next time. Added benefit... They serve Coke products!
Andrea Hannem
Our friends rave about this place. Great sourced meats. Bacon is a spectacular addition. Husband had the beet Ruben. The Mac and cheese was one of the best I have had. Wish the burger would have been medium.
Chris Marshall
Friendly, attentive staff! Delicious chicken. The mac n' cheese is a must have. Leave room for the banana cream pie! Music/atmosphere on point. Worth a visit while in Minneapolis!
Stacey Pruitt
This place was amazing! I was born and raised in Alabama, and let me tell you there isn’t fried chicken like this in the south. It was the BEST fried chicken I’ve had. My husband and I both got the chicken and waffles. He got some hot fries. Beware the hot fries are EXTREMELY HOT. He loved them me well I can’t do got stuff. He got the pistachio beer which was also amazing. If you are looking for a cute rustic place to eat with incredible food this is your place! I wish I had taken a picture.
Hanny Phanny
Staffs were nice and friendly
The chicken was super crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Drizzle some syrup onto the fresh waffle and eat it with the chicken….omg! It’s out of da world
The bacon and egg was amazingly delicious as well Long with the sauce
Good place for brunch!
Daniel Yuhas
I'd been recommended this place by a co-worker for a great chicken joint and they were right! The food was amazing; we had the cheese curds which were excellent and I got the fried chicken sandwich which was one of the better chicken sandwiches I can remember having in a while. The beer was also had the words "Thunder Chicken" in the title which was a plus (and tasted good).
The servers were very friendly, it was clean, and in a nice part of town. Would recommend this place to people looking for some good chicken and comfort food.
It is a bit pricier than a takeout place but worth it for a nice meal once in a while.
Richard Chasse
I've heard good things for a couple years so I was looking forward to enjoying it. But sadly I think I prefer KFC chicken over this. It's just my opinion though. You should see for yourself!
Morley Spencer
This place came highly recommended and I’m so glad we took up their suggestion. The chicken was on point, we got a mix of the white and dark with the Tennessee hot and southern fried. The staff was great at helping us make informed choices about our food. The grits were also a highlight. The sauces were delicious as well.
Being the only people in the patio seating area surprised us; many people enjoyed their AC inside.
Can’t wait to come back to minneapolis to have more.
Jerrod Henderson
This restaurant was a hidden gem! I was looking for southern cuisine in Minneapolis and Revival did not disappoint me or my colleagues. Every item we ordered was seasoned to perfection and tasty. They also accommodated us and we arrived about 15 minutes before their closing time. The food was so good, I told the waitress to "slap the chef." She didn't get my joke, but that's okay. Delicious! Delicious! Delicious!
Christopher Gosselin
Talk about fried chicken that food is amazing!!! I think we ordered and within 15 minutes are food was there hot and ready. It paired really well with one of their sour beers. Tried both the southern style and the Tennessee style both just hit the spot. Had the sandwich and the waffle could eat there everyday!

For a place that specializes in southern fried chicken, it fell a little flat. My party and I ordered the whole bird, grits, Mac’n cheese, chicken sandwich and cheese curds and the grand total was $94 😮. The chicken was the original because we figured it’s should stand out on its own w/o sauces. It really didn’t taste anything special, just pricey. The chicken was moist and skin definitely had crunch. Despite that, I felt like it was missing a final pinch of kosher salt before coming to the table. Kept thinking, some lemon juice and smoked paprika would do this wonders. Mac’n cheese was light and the cheese flavor was subtle and it had a nice crust on top. The grits? Never had it before but it reminded me of warm rice pudding. Creamy, slightly sweet and well…gritty. The cheese curds came out somewhat stuck together and I wished it wasn’t, so you could pick out individual piece instead of a large glob. It came with a honey/sweet sauce drizzled over that added to the dish but would’ve been nicer as a dip on the side. There were two vinaigrette’s and some kind of spicy mustard sauce on the table and none really enhanced the chicken. I personally thought that the mustard sauce with the chicken was slightly repulsive. My brother ordered the sandwich and he wasn’t too impressed either. There’s a 20% gratuity automatically added and no need to sign receipts. Overall it was an okay-one-time-only-checked off list experience albeit pricey. We were expecting to be blown out of the waters but instead received a little splash.

Okay so we recently just moved in next door to Revival and I am addicted. Being a realtor who doesn’t always have time to sit down and eat at the restaurant or a lot of time to wait for my food to be ready I appreciate how quick Revival Chicken is! Staff is also very welcoming and nice!
The food is always amazing and I would say I’m at a solid 2x a week at this point. I normally always get their chicken thigh sandwich Nashville hot style with a side of Mac and cheese or watermelon salad. Today I tried their vegetarian Reuben and OMG! It’s so good. If you haven’t tried them out yet, even if you don’t eat chicken, you will not be let down.
Tiffany Morgan
Best Southern fried chicken I've had outside of the South! (Big deal to me being from Texas)
Very flavorful, juicy & perfect crunch. I added their house made BBQ sauce on the side. Waffle was light, fluffy and a hint of sweetness. Definitely eat this again! The "Jazzybelle" sparkling wine was a perfect pairing!
Chris Wood
Great food , friendly staff .
Had the Hot chicken sandwich .
Crispy ,good heat and a sweet backend.
Collards cooked perfect.
Sweet tea excellent.
And get dessert ,the banana cream pie .make you slap yo mama.
Support local and you get wonder things
Amanda Rheineck
BEST CHICKEN! I love the spicy chicken 🤤 I keep going back for more. Service is polite and the food is absolutely delicious. …
Patrick Kimbrough
This place has been on my want to go list for almost 3 years and I finally went. The reason for the lower rating was the staff, the waitress was very rude to us during most of our time there. The food however was good, not as good as food I’ve had in the south, but for Minnesota it was a nice dabble in southern food. They do not serve you, due to being short staffed, so you have to order food at the counter and not be waited on. Just a heads up they charge a 20% service fee as well. A friend told me that the Saint Paul location is a lot better so I might give it a 2nd chance there.
marlena s
A little spendy for the food but it’s worth it. Great chicken, strong drinks, and the Mac & cheese is a MUST!!! Definitely a new fav.
Abdur Rakib
The chicken is very crispy with a white meaty inside and the sides are perfect southern dishes! I would recommend the chicken and waffles with a side of Mac n cheese. The food comes out quickly and the service is great. When we left the restaurant, a server ran out to give us the leftovers we forgot! If you’re in the mood for southern classics, look no further than Revival in Minneapolis!
Benjamin J Clark
The day that we were there circle was short-staffed and there was only one so it was understandable that it took her a little bit longer to get to our table. Not only did she understand that took a while she added a discount to her tab and gave us free dessert as it was a hospitality appreciation for having understanding and waiting! Let's talk about the food hands down absolutely amazing when it comes to the desserts I suggest the banana cream pie but not that putting thing that's not really putting. It has a crust at the top that's kind of burnt in flavor or at least mine and my brothers did and the sauce is on it weren't all too toffee. If you're going for a drink highly suggest the margarita and the spicy tequila jalapeno drink was good too. Not very many on tap selection so if you're going for a selection this is not the place for you but if you're going for the food screw the beer.
Jennifer Schweitzer
This was my first time at Revival and it didn't disappoint. I ordered 1/2 chicken Tenesee hot, wasn't too spicy but did have a little kick. We split the mac & cheese, mustard slaw and biscuits. Very excited for leftovers later.
Naïcha Dorville
To start try the cheese curds and wings you will not be disappointed. The burger is melt in your mouth good and the Tennessee Hot chicken sandwich will make you want to go back every day it’s that good. Make sure to save room for dessert their pies are fantastic.
LaQuesa Miller
That chicken was for sure finger licking good... I had four thick juicy straps and I only ate two.. Very spicy and Hella crunchy... Them white cheddar grits was cool, just need a bit more seasoning... That place was a whole vibe,WE WILL BE BACK
Christian Kauphusman
It is a cozy place, and it fills up quickly, but the food is amazing. The servers really are on the ball too, but they have to make their own drinks. All in all, an amazing experience and a cute place with big flavor. Super recommended and will go here again. I hear they have more than one as well.
Paul Porter
Was somewhat disappointed with the food on our last visit. The brisket was fatty, and the value not good given the serving size. The pulled pork was good, and a slightly better value. Normally we order the chicken, which is unparalleled in the Twin Cities. A value comparison of the chicken versus the smoked meats, I would stick with the chicken. The sides (mac&cheese, and mustard slaw) were very good
Nate Waldron
Everyone talks about the fried chicken, but the brisket and pork shoulder were amazing. And they have the best Mac and cheese I've had at a restaurant. It's a small place, so expect a wait because it stays busy. The secret has gotten out about Revival. Try an earlier (or late) dinner to avoid the wait.
Pag Berkeley
Our family has been long time patrons of Revival and have always loved the food. My dad was very excited about the opening of Smoked Meats. We ordered takeout for the first time on Sunday and we were incredibly disappointed. We ordered 2 …

Unique restaurant for minneapolis! Great fried chicken, especially paired with a waffle. Recently, I tried their Country Captain Cauliflower entree which was good! Warm meal, good amount of spice, almost like a risotto dish. This is a great place to take friends 👍 …
Kevin Skogen
The food was wonderful. Best chicken in town. The only issue in the new place is the noise. When the place is full it sounds like a bar at midnight. They need to put up some sound mufflers. Could not hear what was playing on the radio. Otherwise a great place for chicken and smoked meat.
Stephanie Clausen
The chicken and waffles here are absolutely amazing! Definitely worth the wait since everything is made fresh, and fried to perfection. The chicken was so juicy and spicy (Tennessee Hot chicken). I LOVE spicy foods! This one had a great balance of sweet-spicy since it was on a waffle and I asked for extra maple syrup. 😋 Cajun cheese curds weren’t very spicy, but had a great Cajun taste. Sweet potatoes tasted just like mom used to make, but fancy with the torched marshmallow on top!
I loved the food and atmosphere of this place! We visited on a Sunday afternoon when it wasn’t busy. A couple other times we’ve tried but there was an hour and a half wait time, and no reservations are accepted here. Kind of a downside, but also a good thing to follow first come, first served since it’s not a very large restaurant. It’s very intimate.
Fherryl Hannah
We got the Tennessee hot fried chicken & a side of mac cheese. Order the 1/2 bird since it’s just that good. It wasn’t too spicy, but did have a kick. I recommend asking for the sweet potato habanero sauce and the maple syrup to dip the chicken in.
Sara Peterman
Torn between a 3 and a 4 for food. Enjoyed the cheese curd app with lovely honey drizzle. Son loved his burger. I was disappointed in the huge chicken sandwich that was half yuck that should have been removed. Husband had fried chicken tenders and cheesey grits....good.
Brent Morris
The service was quick and excellent. Our server was very attentive. I had the chicken and waffles with collard greens and it was UH-MAY-ZING! I'm a guy who loves some good greens and those were the best I've had from any restaurant! The chicken and waffles... This was my first time actually trying it and I'm VERY glad that I did it here.
I will definitely be going back and telling all my friends!
Laine
Best fried chicken in Minneapolis, I Agree!
Tender, juicy, soft, spices blended together very well! Need to ask for more pickles to cut the grease but I don’t mind!
Amazing fries, tossed in their seasoning and with a spicy aioli! Highly recommend!!
PS, please bring back your spicy sauce ASAP! Thank you!
J Wurmnest
Food was good but I don't recommend for vegans. Lots of meat and comfort food here. The waitress was great but the chairs could've been more comfy and the restaurant itself was cold 🥶. We left our jackets on.
JOHN JOHNSON
I decided to try this place while in Minneapolis. I had a ribs, greens and mac n chz. The MNC was creamy and delicious. The greens were a little sweet for my taste. More of a vinegar green fan. The ribs had good flavor but a little dry. I am used to REALLY good BBQ. KC and Texas are my go too states. This place wasn't bad for being this far north.
Trevyn Paige
This place. What can I say about this place that hasn’t been said a million times. It is fantastic. The parking lot is a little small and can be tricky to navigate in the winter, but the food is amazing. I don’t care what you get. It will be great. You will be happy.
Josephine Hartman
How does one adequately write a review and assign stars when the cuisine was outstanding but the ambiance was terrible. Half a chicken (shared) and sides were wonderful, filling and reasonably priced. But I had to shout to place our order with the wait staff. As septuagenarians, we laughed that we had been married long enough not to have to talk while we ate. Bare tables..bare floors...bare ceilings...all sorts of opportunity for noise abatement. I'm not sure we'll be back
Paul Economon
Very lovely place with outstanding service and way delicious food. And extremely affordable. Plus there is off street parking on the side.
Peng Hsu
It's pretty popular around here. We waited around 40 minutes for a party of four. The whole chicken we ordered was very crispy and spicy. Pickles were well flavored and also work as a very good appetizer... We ordered an extra because it was so delicious... Service was good. Staffs were helpful and friendly... Recommended!!
David C
Delicious food, atmosphere was lacking. Was disappointed that we couldn't make a reservation and was told there would be no wait. We got there and had to wait, very limited seating and think the furnace was broken as it was cold in there. Overall it was good, servers were great and food is 💣
Christopher Frometa
Loved this place! I ordered the smoke brisket sandwich and it was awesome. The Mac & cheese & burnt ends were also so good! Definitely recommend checking this place out!
dan erickson
Our first time at Revival was amazing. We had a group of 6, but our server was fantastic. We ordered almost every appetizer. The Mac and cheese and mustard slaw were the favorites. And obviously the hush puppies. We then shared a whole chicken and a half Nashville hot chicken. They were both so good, I don't even know which one I would recommend. For desert, we all shared a piece of banana cream pie. We can't wait to go back again.
Kim Young
Everything we had was good! We ordered the fried green tomatoes, half a chicken, chicken and waffles and red beans and rice and collard greens as our sides. The fried green tomatoes were the bomb. They had just the right amont of spice and paired perfectly with the accompanying sauce. The sauces that come withe the chicken is perfect. We drizzled the vinegar like sauce over the hot chicken and dipped it in the creamier sauce. The beans and rice were good but the collard greens were just ok. The portions on the sides were small in my opinion, as they were $6 each. The place is pretty small and always packed. I don't know if they do reservations. And parking is only street parking and can be difficult. All in all a great experience and will return.
akilah
The chicken was fire. Did seem like there was more crust than chicken breast but that’s ok. The mac and cheese was room temp but decent. The service was definitely lackluster. It seemed like Paige totally forgot about us. I literally had to tap her on the shoulder to get her attention for condiments after saying “excuse me” over and over. It wasn’t even busy! Might try a different location.
Kent Tsui
Wow, so good! We tried the beans, mashed potatoes, cheesy grits, pork rinds, chicken, and chicken and waffles. Just Wow. All so good. Luckily I arrived early in the evening as a line was formed out the door. It would have been worth it to wait. Next time I am going to try to up the heat on the chicken. I am sure it is going to be great!
Michael Freeman
Too loud I would recommend their food it is amazing so just get takeout you'll have the same results of awesome food. But if you're so inclined to stay there there is so many great items on the menu. The cauliflower rice with pineapple and coconut I think, to die for I would love to be able to reproduce this at home. Cheese curds like you only dream you could make. I would love to give you my personal number if you ever find a better chicken place than this call me and tell me so.
Robert Hines
Excellent southern cooking like you won't find anywhere else in Minnesota. The one on Nicollet is small so get there early and expect to wait a bit before you get seated - especially if you have a larger group. They are known for their fried chicken so you must get that, you've probably never had better than what you'll get here. Crispy & flaky breading and so juicy on the inside. Delicious! I would also rate the mac and cheese as some of the best in the twin cities. Honestly though, whatever you order will be good. They also have a nice selection of craft beers from local breweries, you can't go wrong here. Just be prepared to wait for a table... trust me though, it's worth the wait.

Revival: "an improvement in the condition or strength of something"
Revival: "an instance of something becoming popular, active, or important again"
Let's talk fried chicken: Revival the restaurant exceeds it's name. It's made fried chicken in Minnesota popular and important again and definitely improved on "Minnesota" fried chicken.
Yeah, It's pretty much all fried. Embrace it. Accept it, and plan accordingly.
We split 1/2 chicken, hush puppies, grits, and mac and cheese between 3 of us and we were all full by the end and surprised at how reasonable the bill ended up being! The Alabama boy in the group fully admitted that despite his high southern fried chicken standards - Revival knew what they were doing.
1/2 chicken - Amazing. Just go for the chicken if nothing else.
Hush Puppies - We were SHOCKED at how many come in an order.
Grits - decent. Not the BEST grits ever, but they were good.
Mac and Cheese - Honestly, Kraft is better. It was lacking pepper in our opinion.
This is definitely worth stopping at and eating some good ole fried chicken!
Logan Paquin
The fried chicken is incredible. I tried both the southern fried and Tennessee hot breading, and the latter was my fav. It was flavorful with just the right amount of spice. I recommend asking for poultrygeist on the side unless you are brave... because it is addicting but very very spicy.
I also recommend the biscuits, which were delicious and pillowy. The mac n cheese is also excellent. I will be back very soon, I hear the burgers are delicious.
Brian Reyes
Really good fried chicken. It has a really good spice and crunch.Tennessee hot definitely has a kick that hits you a few seconds later. You can't go wrong with any of the sides. The revival burger may not be the best burger in MN, but it's definitely a good damn burger. I suggest not getting the bacon because it is too rich and kinda takes away from the rest of the burger. Service was great. I like how the bathroom has a basket of wash cloths that you can use to dry your hands. Would come back again if I ever visit MN again.
Donovan Zielke
We had the southern fried 1/2 chicken dinner and an order of Johnny cakes. I was a little disappointed when ordering the dinner because it did not come with any sides. Chicken was good. I was very impressed with the Johnny cakes which was the reason I came. A corn meal pancake with ham and cheese on the inside, they were delicious. I really did love this place even though I thought the chicken was average. Liz, our server, was terrific.
MJ Glauvitz
Their food is always amazing! I love the Tennessee hot chicken, the grits, cheese curds and the macaroni and cheese. Most things are a-la-cart so just be careful as it can get expensive quickly.
Stephen
Best chicken sandwich I've ever had. I don't think I even need to go to Tennessee to compare this! The pickles were homemade and the spice level was perfect! Will be going back!
Robert Imrie
Revival was already crowded when we arrived about 5:30pm but the young man who greeted us was warm and polite. “Just the two of you? We can seat you as soon as the next table is cleared.” Our timing was good; a line formed soon after.
We had fried chicken, Revival’s specialty, starting with fried green tomatoes and a salad made with fresh bib lettuce, plus mashed potatoes and gravy. I’m not expert on southern cooking but it all tasted wonderful to me. The Steel Toe Milk Stout was pretty good, too.
The ambiance was very good, a mix of young and old, couples and groups. My wife and I enjoyed looking at the variety of dishes going by and all the people eating them. Our waitress was helpful and playful.
Kris K.
We had cheese curds to start. A lil greasy, but sooo sooo good. We then had half a chicken tennesse hot style with mac n cheese and hush puppers sides. The mac was great, warm gooey n cheesey. The hushpups were also top notch when dipped in the sauce its served with. That chicken...was...amazing. Juicy, perfect doneness, and full of flavor. I loved the Tennesse/Nashville hot style. Would def recommend.
Hal Werner
Amazing. Fried chicken 2-piece was so crispy, juicy and flavorful. If you're a fried chicken lover, you need to stop here. Place has a fun but cozy modern retro country thing going on. But be ready for a wait. The dining room is pretty small, and this joint is pretty popular. Cheese curds were wonderful. I wanted to try the mac and cheese too. I saw one on another table and it was the creamiest mac I've ever seen. But I also didn't want to explode, so I'll have to save the mac for another trip.

Came here for a lunch date with my Fiance. Had been wanting to check it out for a while and finally got the time. Love the location. Amazing setup. Food was absolutely delicious, the menu is well thought and fairly priced. The biscuit's, the dry rubbed wings, herb crusted catfish, mac and cheese, red beans and rice...everything was delicious! Our server was one of the best we've had. Have already been telling people about it. Come see for yourself, this place is fantastic.

I lived here for 4 years and never tried it. Went back to visit and can agree with the hype! 2 piece, white meat was juicy and amazing spices with the Nashville hot. Also got some mac and cheese.. amazing!! The service is incredible!! Great place!
Neal Lewandowski
Fantastic fun food. The catfish was nestled in some rice, beans, onions with (not a fan) pickled beans. the portions were to be shared. Make sure Monica is your server, she is VERY good.
Heather Hansen
Revival is delish. I have been craving the jerk cauliflower since my last trip to MN. The Southern fried chicken is seasoned to perfection. Mac and cheese is on point. The Nashville Hot chicken has a nice kick of heat...but seriously, the Jerk Cauliflower with coconut rice and pineapple. Just go there and enjoy!

1. Pricey
2. Flavorful
3. My chicken thigh was not completely done.
4. Hush Puppies were dry.
5. Slaw was delicious
6. Beans n Rice were superb
I'm thinking 2 go bk 4 the fish entree

The fried chicken did not disappoint. I thoroughly enjoyed the Tennessee hot fried chicken, the biscuit was so so. The acoustic could be improved as we shouted to have a conversation.

Went for a Sunday evening dinner - nothing is more comforting or traditional than crispy fried chicken on a Sunday.
Delicious cheese curds - and I should know- I am from Wisconsin.
Nice biscuits and great grits.
Not much impressed by the macaroni and cheese - but I like mine without processed cheese.
Nice server. Uncomfortable chairs. Tiny space but well used.
Kevin Newland
Really great southern comfort food. Their southern fried chicken is wonderful. If you get there during a busy time make sure you are ready to wait or grab a spot at the small bar if it's available!
Update November 2019: I can’t believe I waited so long to try the chicken and waffles sandwich. It’s a game changer!

The best time to go to Revival MPLS is during off hours (like right when they open on a weekday!) unless you are cool with a 1+ hour wait, which is totally worth it by the way! You might get a seat at the bar (they serve food at the bar) which would shorten your wait. We don't usually end up having to wait as long as they say we will, so that's always awesome.
Revival Burger - I don't think we have ever had anything on their menu that we didn't like. The burger is exceptional and you can TRIPLE it and you should always add bacon. It's thick, pork belly bacon and it belongs on that burger.
Fried Chicken - Their fried chicken is perfectly crunchy on the outside and delectably juicy on the inside. Tennessee Hot is my preference. It's the perfect amount of heat so you can still taste all the wonderful spice. If you don't do spicy food well, you should probably stick with the Southern Fried because this is not Minnesota Spicy. ;) The Southern Fried is my partner's preference. Straight up, classic fried chicken. Lots of delicious flavor without the heat. Their signature sweet potato hot sauce is on point. Again, not Minnesota Spicy. It pairs great with both the Tennessee Hot and the Southern Fried and I wish I could buy it by the bottle. The Chicken and Waffles are good and beautifully presented but we still prefer to order chicken and sides.
Appetizers/Sides - The collard greens are definitely our favorite of all of the sides with a really unique sweet and smokey flavor. I have had the cheddar drop biscuits at the STP location (was unaware that they had them at MPLS) and they are to die for! Puts Red Lobster cheddar biscuits to shame. The green beans are nice and savory and there is bacon or ham bits mixed in with them. The farm greens salad is perfectly fresh every time and is great if you want to "keep it light" (come on, it's fried chicken) with a two-piece and a salad. The mac and cheese is a comforting classic.
Always get the pie. The banana cream pie has a mountain of fresh whipped cream on it and their butterscotch pie makes me miss my grandma!
Overall, the amount of quality food we get for the price is on point. We always have leftovers so it's a place we visit often.
Angie Huston-Calvin
Get there early or be prepared to wait! Deliciousness from the South all over the menu. The fried chicken chicken, regular or hot is great. The southern sides like the Hoppin' John and the biscuits are fantastic! Don't forget to start with Fried Green Tomatoes. 😊 …
Eric Sinakhone
TL;DR: Come for unforgettable fried chicken.
Forget everything that you think you know about fried chicken. As a person growing up always asking for the spiciest item on the menu, I'm always disappointed when I get something MN spicy (aka medium) or something spicy, but without flavor. I had the fritters and two pieces of "Tennessee Hot" (middle spice level) chicken and let's just say that I was pleasantly surprised!
The fritters we're tasty, but nothing worth writing home about - the fried sliced garlic was a nice touch though. The chicken was fried and spiced to perfection and the flavor was surprisingly complex: salty, savory, and rich. And the heat was just right: spicy, yet amazingly flavorful. I actually had to pace myself with another beer!
Just a word of warning: this place is small, so if you come expecting a wait then you won't be surprised. I arrived at 11:30 on a Friday and was 7th in line (about 30-min wait), but got lucky snagging a spot at the bar 5 mins later.
Cindy Andress
We shared crispy cheese curds and fried green tomatoes with a yummy sauce! Spot on! Then, 1/2 Tennessee chicken with Mac and cheese and a cheddar biscuit. The pickles were relish and the spice on the Tennessee chicken was perfect. Highly recommend Revival!
Maegan Lufkin
Fried green tomatoes in Minnesota! Wow! what a great find. Thanks to the Jason Show. We went for lunch today. Timed our visit well, there was no wait. All the food was freshly prepared, outstanding flavors. Best Southern comfort food in Minnesota. So many southern favorites on the menu it was hard to decide.
We have fried green tomatoes (served fresh and hot with a tasty watercress salad) , southern fried chicken (perfectly cooked, hot, and crispy), slaw, white cheddar grits (wonderful long cooked buttery grits and pecan date pie (exceptional good fresh pie crust). Real brewed sweet tea also. Staff was welcoming, friendly and our food was served timely.
Megan Bateman
Paige was a fantastic server. Food and drinks were both great and appropriately priced. Will definitely be back!
Jason Dai
This place will always have my heart when it comes to their fried chicken ❤️ The service is great and so is the food 🤤 My only complaint is that the glasses that we are given for water are quite small. I feel like I ask for water a bit too many times every visit. …
Tyler Hilligoss
I've had revival a few times as take out or delivery and was always impressed by how crispy the chicken was, even after its commute. Eating in the food was even better and I'd definitely recommend it for any fried chicken or burger lovers. The place is small and fills quickly, it's also a little loud and hard to hear anyone you're eating with. Menu selection is small but I see that as a good thing.
Martin Nguyen
We got here super early to avoid the wait and it was definitely worth it. The fried chicken here is incredible, we got 1/2 Tennessee hot chicken and it was fantastic. They also have this sweet potato habenero sauce that is amazing. We got the macaroni and cheese and the biscuits for sides. Both were great but I really liked the biscuits. I also got the revival burger which was OK. I would pass on it. The service was great and very attentive. Also be aware it's a small place and very very loud.
Nicki Urlaub
I LOVE Revival! Best fried chicken around! Their Tennesee hot chicken is amazing!! I'm also obsessed with their banana cream pie, which is topped with about 3 inches of heavenly whip cream - now that's my kind of pie!
Today, i had the chicken and waffles and it was scrumptious. The chicken was perfectly crispy as usual, and the waffle was very good. Loved it!
Just make sure to get there during off peak hours, as the wait can get over an hour for dinner!
Tyler Glieden
Had the Revival burger, southern fried chicken, biscuits, and mashed potatoes with gravy. Everything was just amazing. The chicken and burger were especially delicious. I can't wait to get back to try the Tennessee hot chicken.
Todd Meadows
So good. I got the hot chicken and my son got a burger. Both were fantastic. The pork rinds ( hot Cheetos style) were great too.
Nancy R
✅Fried chicken is the absolute best in town. Not greasy. Crispy, moist, flavorful. ✅The burger is juicy and served with pickles. I added the bacon. It was good, but I wouldn't add it again as I felt that it overpowered the burger. ✅The portions for the sides are huge. My favorite sides were the mac & cheese and hush puppies. ✅ Can't have a southern meal without sweet tea. Theirs is refreshing and perfectly sweetened. Can't wait to go back!
Todd B.
Definitely worth stopping to eat here. My wife wanted to check it out after seeing the owner competing against Bobby Flay and reading about their fried chicken. The chicken was really good (the full-wing appetizers as well as the Chicken and Waffles). Even though the hush puppies appeared over-done, they tasted very good, as did the cheddar drop biscuits. However, the thing that stood out to me the most was the cheesy grits side dish - which were the best grits I've ever had. We topped it off with a piece of lemon cream pie. As much of a dessert-lover as I am, I was less than impressed with it. It had very little flavor and although I like desserts that aren't really sweet, I swear they somehow found a way to make this without any sugar in it at all.
Joel Fowler
It is our favorite place to eat in Minneapolis. It's simple, delicious, southern-fried chicken. The sauces are rich and flavorful. You can get 3 levels of spice for your comfort level. "Poultrygeist" is not for the average Minnesotan.
You can complete your meal with a bevy of southern sides. My favorite are macaroni and cheese and the hush puppies.
Danielle Lindberg
Is it weird that we drove 2.5 hours just for Revival? We didn't think so! It was So. Good. Got the breakfast sandwich for dinner and the Tennessee hot chicken (and attempted the Poultrygeist....uffda.) Everything was phenomenal! We went around 8 on a Monday night, didn't have a wait time, had excellent service and honestly debated coming back for lunch the next day. Can't wait to visit again before flying out!!
Steve Stowers
So delicious. We shared a whole hot Tennessee bird, Mac and cheese, drop biscuits, dry rub wings, and chicken and waffles. The whole bird was DELICIOUS. The biscuits were fantastic. The Mac and cheese was good but not great. The chicken and waffles was also excellent. The best part of the location is the service. We had a number of different people stop by the table to ask how the food was, give good ideas on how to use sauce and otherwise enjoy out experience. We will be back!
Peter Chau
Fantastic fried chicken! Southern fried was definitely my favorite. Pretty good mac and cheese. Heard good things for their burgers, can't wait to try those next time I visit.
Matthew Jerkins
I took my mom here who was visiting from out of town for the evening, even though I'd never been before, because of the great reviews and seeing people here all the time. It did not disappoint. Completely delicious, friendly waitress...the perfect evening.
Nelson Brown
Hipster soul food is on the rise and Revival is a stellar example of why. Possibly the best fried chicken I’ve ever had and perfect level of heat. Hot Cheetoh pork rinds were great as were the house pickles & kraut. Ask about the secret menu... 😎 …
James Kurtz
The food here was all amazing. The mustard on the pastrami was great. Also ordered grits, mac & cheese and burnt chilli soup. Wife said the chilli was pretty spicy. Highly recommend this place and the whole keg & case building has a cool vibe.
Pat Addy
Excellent Kansas City Sweet Sauce! The Brisket was nice, a little dry. The Homemade Potato Chips are very tasty. The Cornbread Rolls are unique and not bad, but dry. The pickles are delicious. The Pork Shoulder was fine and also unique. The Chorizo Sausage Link is probably not something we will order again.
The ordering method is through TOAST Order and Pay and revolutionary. Awesome place. Awesome staff!
Manie P
They have the best fried chicken in the twin cities! My favorite is their tennesse hot sauce. Mac and cheese is the perfect side. They also have some delicious desserts.
M S
Amazing food! I had the Butternut squash and pear salad along with the shrimp and grits- Delicious!!!! I also tried the cheddar biscuit which was soooo good. Great wine and beer as well.
Yoshitaka Katayama
Delicious. Spicy and salty skin, sweet syrup, acidic pickle on a waffle. It's perfect. Must try if you have never been.
Stephy
The best fried chickens around Twin Cities. We love the half bird (5 pieces) in Tennessee hot, with collard greens on the side. The pickles was the star.
Although we waited half an hour for the steak, the server came back multiple times to apologize and the manager made it up to us as well. I have to say the experience was extraordinary.
Daniel Picard
This place serves up some very tasty smoked meats - chicken, beef brisket, pork shoulder, and more.
The smokiness hits you on the walk into the restaurant and the aroma is wonderful!
The portions are small... Like REALLY small, especially on their side items.
The prices are high, especially because just of the entrees do not come with anything besides your chosen meat.
Although our choices were all yummy, it's a high price to pay (pun intended).
Allison Boreen
Always fantastic! Shrimp and grits are right up there with the fried chicken! Yum!
Tabitha Thompson
The mac and cheese was amazing! Pork shoulder wasn’t bad and had great sauce! Corn bread was large and a little dry but descent! Friendly staff!!
Annabel Allen
One of the best restaurants I’ve been to in Minneapolis! My boyfriend and I split the cheese curds, chicken and waffles, and chicken sandwich. Too many cheese curds for the 2 of us to finish! The waffle was nice and fluffy and the all the chicken was cooked perfectly! Will definitely be returning
Othello Productions
Great place and even better food! Worth the drive and the money every time! The chicken and waffles are excellent as well as the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich.
Heather K
We had a mediocre time here. Sat down at the bar and the first thing we notice is a huge pile of fried chicken sitting in the kitchen on a baking sheet. With an hour before close and that much chicken leftover, it makes you a little nervous, as you aren't sure how long it has been sitting there... I must say that the $3 beer situation is 2 thumbs up though.
Spring salad- supposed to be a "green goddess" dressing, but lacked any real flavor and tasted like mayo.
Mac and cheese- came out cold and wet, all the cheese sunk to the bottom of the dish and was not thick enough to stick to the noodles.
Collard greens- tangy and buttery. Very delicious.
Mashed potatoes- texture was good, gravy was flavorful. I enjoyed these.
Chicken sandwich- as expected after seeing the chicken situation, came out cold. The Tennessee hot didn't have any flavor. It says revival sauce will be on the sandwich, but I have no idea what that possibly could have been. The bun to chicken ratio was awful as it just got soggy and crumbled immediately. Pickles are great though.
The service and wait staff we incredibly kind. For the price point of the menu, we will not be returning as this is not the first unpleasant experience in regards to the food.
Kat
The food is so good. Best Mac and cheese ever. But the chairs at every location are torture devices. I refuse to eat in a restaurant with those chairs, it’s obvious they don’t want you to stay.
Stephen Walker
I’m visiting the area for a few days and needed somewhere to eat since I traveled alone. After driving around for about an hour I found this place and I am glad I did! The service was great, the food was great and so was the casual and relaxed atmosphere. Make sure to try the cheese curds with honey…sounds strange but trust me it’s really good.
The Intercultural Traveler
Our new favorite place for comfort food- amazing, delicious food. Friendly, understanding staff especially for our special need children. This is a must visit place.
Lila Weaver
Great food at a reasonable price. Having the bench seating makes the restaurant feel more comfortable, which is a feat in such a small place. It’s a little bit loud because of how the room is designed (echoes) but it didn’t take away from the experience. I’ll go here again
Sterling Knox
Excellent service, delicious meal. Chicken and Waffles were awesome as well as the fried green tomatoes, a little light on seasoning but tasty nonetheless. Sort of a small place which I like, friendly staff locally owned always a plus.
Joshua Clements
I visited Revival in June 2017, and the Revival Burger w/Bacon was a near life-changing enjoyment. When paired with the Mac 'n Cheese - heaven.
I also greatly enjoyed the sweet potato sauce on the side- try it!
The ambiance is casual and fun, lots of great natural light and simple décor. The service was excellent.
Highly Recommended!
Rachel Herr
Three words: Tennessee hot chicken. It was the best fried chicken I’ve ever had, and paired with the housemaid pickles and homemade Mac and cheese - the meal could not have been better. And for an extra little surprise, their house sparkling wine was a lovely accompaniment for fried chicken - who would have thought?! Plan for a wait, but it is well worth it!
Bill Currin
I have never had Chicken and Waffles before yesterday and I’m pretty sure if I have that anywhere else that I’ll be sadly disappointed.
I got the Memphis and it’s a little spicier than your typical Minnesota nice hot-WHICH IS GOOD!
Everything was perfectly cooked and the hostess was awesome too!
I will be back often.
Amber Bouret
Finally some crispy chicken! Also, the cheese curds are great, they are tossed in sweet honey and cajun? sauce.
Zahnia Harut
Our waitress was amazing! Chicken and waffles were amazing as always!
Amanda Drews
Mmmm those biscuits! Everything we had here was good and ready in time. I'm excited to come back and try more!
Nic Bee
Pork shoulder plate and housemade chips were great! Love the patio and friendly staff!
Marc M.
Best southern food available in MN. The chicken with their home made spices and sauces are phenomenal, the Mac and cheese is creamy and incredibly flavoured, and the Johnny Cakes are the best way to get ready for the best chicken of your life.
Jeffrey Behm
Perfect Tennessee Hot chicken and wonderful service. Highly recommend!
stanley victorio
Very tasty brisket! Price are on the high side but very nice ambience and place is very clean
Axel Stiven Ruiz Jimenez
I am pretty sure you will love this place as much i do, people this place is just wow, the meat i so tender so delicious, for me its the best place i've been, and its a fact i would come back to eat more.
Andrew Hou
The food (chicken especially) was incredible! Their Tennessee Hot Chicken was a perfect level of mild spiciness combined with crunchy hot delicious fried chicken! That said... they really aren't kidding with the Poultrygeist. You're probably better off not ordering it if you don't feel like and evening of pain :P
The mac and cheese had a beautiful golden crust with a creamy cheese inside, and the hush puppies were great as well.
A cozy atmosphere, but be prepared to wait. Lines are long!
Overall, I had an amazing experience! (Minus the Poultrygeist :P)
Bob Smith
The service was excellent, we had the meat sampler plate with several sides, everything was delicious but I’m calling out the brisket which may be the most flavorful, tenderest brisket I’ve ever tasted, I definitely recommend this great restaurant
Nicholas Popehn
Great food, smaller menu, for a tiny restaurant, which I think can be expected. Dessert's can knock your socks off, often times they run out, so It may be wise to order dessert first thing I you think you're going to. Honestly probably the best fried chicken in MN, I think it's maybe possible to find even better fried chicken, but I haven't yet. Grits aren't too be missed.
John Kablan
Great spot! I know everyone raves about the chicken but I almost always get the burger it is fantastic. The mac and cheese is also a must have. My only complaints are minor. First you could tweak your beer selection a bit ( high Life and founders all day seriously?), second turn down the music and get off my lawn. Yeah I'm getting old.
tara king
I had the best spicy fried chicken here!!! The cheddar cornbread was amazing!! The service was wonderful.
Joe Andrasko
I can't believe it - REAL Nashville Hot Chicken in Minnesota. I travel all over the country and whenever a menu claims to have "Nahville Hot Chicken" I always try it and 95% of the time I am disappointed (even when I am in TN!). This restaurant delivers with deliciously hot fried chicken and great sides. Highly recommend!
Samantha Combs
A big ole yes in my book. Southern fair with a unique twist. My Cuban was sublime and mustard slaw paired perfectly. Would love to go back try some more if I am in Minneapolis again, there was a lot more that intrigued me on the menu.
Sam Hasler
Ate all of the chicken and grits too quickly to snap photo. That's because they were awesome. Slowed down enough for photos of pies. Also amazing. Good space. A little packed; a short wait; well worth it.
Brian Seman
Cheese curds are sweet and delicious! Holy smoking hot, bring a fire extinguishers if you have the balls to go with poltergeist chicken!!
Tatyana Chernyak
So out of the Revival on Cedar Lake road the Minneapolis is the better one. They definitely have better service and better food options. The one in Cedar Lake road in Plymouth doesn't compare.
Bob Barlau
Delicious chicken! The Tennessee chicken has a nice zing, but not overpowering. Friendly staff. Limited seating, be prepared to wait for a table.
John Hiebert
Chicken is great, but not worth a 45 minute wait. Small... Maybe ten tables. The peach pie was served cold, a la mode, as though they pulled it right out if the refrigerator. Would have definitely preferred a warm slice of pie. Will be curious if this place remains popular. Not saying it's not good, but it didn't knock my socks off. It's just fried chicken. A place to try, but for us, not a place we need to go back to.
Eddie Perez
Always enjoy eating at Revival! Their chicken and waffles is amazing!
Randy Bourlon
Friendly service took time to explain meats and sides. Great food, was soooo good.
Vincent Basile
A long wait, but well worth it. Everything we got was delicious! Southern fried and hot chicken, pickles, biscuits, mac & cheese, Cole slaw, and biscuits were decadent and satisfying. I can't wait to come back k.
Sam Atkinson
The best fried chicken I've had in Minneapolis! Everything was prepared perfectly and was great to share! They had a killer banana cream pie, and a great staff. There didn't seem to have any beers on tap, but had a fairly extensive drink list. Would recommend for a family outing or a date!
Phil Robbin
The chicken is outstanding, the service is excellent, the restaurant is clean and well-run, and the staff is very friendly and competent. The side dishes could have used more flavor, spice.
Erik Nelson
Absolutely stellar fried chicken. The burgers looked awesome too but I came for the chicken. The staff is super friendly and happy to help you pick out the best beer or wine to make the meal complete.
Ari Kim
Amazing barbecue. This place crisps the skins of their perfectly fire smoked meats. Just amazing. Their selection is wide for a visually small restaurant, and they serve a range of drinks too. A bit on the pricey side, as a sandwich can cost $11 and up, and their sides are extra at $4 and up. But IT IS WORTH IT. Amazing flavor.
Uncle Buck
Worth visiting at least once. We shared an order of the Tennessee Hot chicken and it was fantastic. It has some nice heat and flavors. I also ordered their cheeseburger after hearing great things about it and it was great as well. However, I feel as good as it was it in no way warrants its cost of $12 (for a single diner style burger with no sides is absurd). Our server was fantastic. Overall a great little local restaurant with fantastic chicken and high prices.
Peter Maritz
Food was very good, but there are better, cheaper places for BBQ. I think that the chicken and burgers are exceptional.
Jessica
Came here an hour before close and the lady and gentleman helping us were so nice! We were lucky that it wasn't busy so we got our food fast. Best chicken and waffles in Minnesota by a long shot. We always do Tennessee hot. Their Mac n cheese is unbeatable 👌 …
Adam Lesperance
Wow unbelievable chicken (I got the Tennessee hot which had a good kick (a lot for Minnesota but expected for a real southern restaurant)). Some of the best fried chicken I've had outside of Gus's in Atlanta. Great Mac n cheese as well. They also had founders kbs on tap when I was there! Incredible! I can't wait to go back!
James Haimsohn
Very good fried chicken and excellent service! Small and hip restaurant that specializes in fried chicken, but also is reported to have an excellent burger. The mac and cheese was very good and the biscuits were also quite tasty. Highly recommend this place!!!
Nick Willbanks
Chicken & waffles are out of this world. A bit pricey, but worth every penny. We had a party of 5 on a Saturday morning, but we were sat at a 4 person table, as there wasn't anything bigger. Staff was warm and inviting. Average wait for the chicken, and it was probably the best I ever tasted Really small place - wasn't very busy, but still felt pretty cramped.
Sara Boklep
Best fried chicken I have ever had! Also the Mac and cheese is amazing!
Jon Laursen Roesler
Overall, it was a good experience, and the food was so flavorful!
The menu options were a bit limited, and there is not an abundance of seating. There is a single unisex bathroom; it was reasonably clean, and it had grab bars to help in standing, if you need that.
I had the Tennessee hot spice fried chicken, which had enuf kick to make my nose water (that’s good!)
The cook and the waiter both seemed genuinely excited about this restaurant and it’s offerings, sauces, etc.
When I was done, I felt very satisfied.
Karla Przybylski
Amazing burger, fried chicken is to die for. The meat is seasoned so well under the crispy-goodness. Their sides are spot on and have great drink options. Awesome customer service, cool spot and atmosphere. Their are like a fine wine, getting better and better each year they are around! 🐓🥂🤤
Samuel Gershman
Love the new location. Service was amazing, as always. I had a small mishap and one of the hot sauce bottles exploded over my plate, dousing my entire sandwich. I was just going to ask for napkins to clean it and myself up a little and they remade my order in mere minutes. Beer taps are local and delicious, and the canned beers are perfectly chilled. Food, as always, incredible.
I can't pile enough praise on this place, its food, and its staff. Everyone who works here is great and every time I finish eating one of their fantastic meals, I can hardly wait until the next time I'm in town.
Nicole Williams
Yummy! I ordered the Mac and cheese and two piece chicken and was not disappointed! I heard very good things but was skeptical to eat at a southern restaurant in Minneapolis, again I am happy to have been proven wrong. The meal was completely delicious and I will be back! I ordered online and picked up the process was seamless and even in the transit process the chicken stayed crisp and wasn’t overly greasy which I think I find with fried chicken. Overall great!
B Johnson Photos Brenda Johnson
Great food! Awesome service. Only downers: it was so loud we couldn't talk and they don't have shades on their windows (they face west). It was pretty uncomfortable but the waitress did offer me "house" sunglasses so it must be a standing problem.
Gavin Grivna
The second you walk in the door, you know you've found a local gem.
Outstanding chicken and waffles! Either would taste amazing in their own, but together the create a symphony of flavor!
Definitely a must visit!
Dr. DarthBatHulk
Even though Revival in Minneapolis (Corner of 43rd & Nicollete Ave) is smaller than her sister restaurant in Saint Paul, it proves that great food comes in small places!
We (3 peeps) went during the Sunday Lunch rush, but didn't have to wait too long.
The staff were attentive, friendly & helpful.
The ordered (see photo
We got the Chicken & Waffles (2pc), Tennessee Hot (2pc) & the"Poltrygiest" Ghost Pepper chicken (2pc)
For the sides:
Their awesome Cheddar Drop biscuits(2pc) 👏🏾👍🏾
Coleslaw 🤔
Mac & Cheese, 👏🏾👍🏾
Green Beans w/Bacon👏🏾👍🏾
Grits👍🏾👏🏾
Very happy I came! Plus, I was able to introduce my Mom & Daughter to Revival for the 1st time!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Sarah Jermusek
The fried green tomatoes are absolutely amazing and I would come back just for that alone!! So delicious!! Also their burgers and chicken sandwich are pretty good... definitely a new favorite
Cindy Sandoval
Great fried chicken 🍗 and Mac and cheese 🧀
Joshua Kessler
Amazing fried chicken. We also enjoyed the mac n cheese and green beans. There was a 30 minute wait, but we lucked out and got seats at the bar.
Adam Peterka
The amount of amazing food they give you in one sitting is obsurd, but in a great way! Highly recommend! Insane awesome hush puppies and fried chicken sandwich!! Get the cheese curds to start! You're welcome!
Glenn Brown
Wonderful foods. Just try to go when. They open or when they are slow. Because you will have to wait. I would suggest the St Paul location. Bigger seating and bigger bar area to wait if ya have to. Spicey food if ya choose to break away from your Minnesota hot. Vs a real spice level that is truly wonderful and still enjoying your food. Wonderful blanace.
Cathy Bauer
Delicious!! Great fried chicken. Also try the banana cream pie!
Robert Hinton
Just look at the picture. Do I really need to say more??? Phenomenal and the service was great.
David Hale Smith
Best fried chicken I’ve ever had outside the south or anywhere.
Erin Grady
My husband and I lived in Charleston, South Carolina for 3 years. We really enjoyed the food here. I think the fried chicken was quite good but it is just missing something to really knock it out of the park. Loved the fried green tomatoes, collard greens, and the succotash. Great cocktails and hot sauces. We also enjoyed the banana cream pie. If this was in Charleston I would give it a 4 but since it is a nice taste of the low country in the Twin Cities, I will give it a 5.
Lisa K
Service and food was great! Space is small and gets crowded but I still love going there!
Ashley Ginty
Brisket Sammy and Pork belly meal were amazing!! I was bummed they didn’t have the cheddar grits, wish they were at all locations ha. Service was excellent and the patio was so nice. Can’t wait to go back!
Naomi Dee
Had some great chicken and rice/ beans. The veggies I ordered were cooked longer than I prefer ( very soft) but overall very good. We were going to eat in but they had takeout only due to staffing shortage... Common this month in Minnesota with Covid.
Therese Linderholm
I love the chicken. This is a sweet lunch spot. It is really popular in the evenings so my friend and I decided to try lunch. A perfect place to escape on a cold winter day. The mash potatoes and grits were great too.
Joel Houge
Chicken was average, very tasty sides but extremely expensive. They give you a tiny bit of dipping sauce for anything and then charge you for more. Waitress was great! Overall wish I could give a higher score but price weighs it down.
Calla Bjorklund Jarvie
This is honestly one of the best burgers I’ve ever had in my life. The chicken is excellent, yes, but the burger is absolutely out of this world. Every time we’ve gone it’s been a super long wait, but it is absolutely worth it.
jjayb927
Chicken and sauces were nice. Kinda pricey but nice. Mac and cheese not really what I think when it's baked Mac. Greens were large not southern greens but buttery. Ok if the chicken was sold separately and more affordable I'd buy the chicken for sure but 32 for 8 pieces can't do it. But if money is no object go for it. I would recommend trying it. Good eats
Ash S
Fantastic place. Authentic Nashville chicken and their gluten free chicken don't have highly processed corn like the majority of restaurants. I would definitely recommend.
Judy M.
Used Revival’s phone app to have dinner for 6 delivered on a Sunday. Food was sublime. Fried chicken was classic, crispy perfection. Fried green tomatoes arrived crisp and delicious. Shrimp and grits: rich and tasty. Even the humble beans and rice were complexly flavored, addictive. The watermelon salad: super fresh, unusual greens and a good savory vinaigrette. Mustard slaw a bit sweet for my taste. The meal cost a bit but worth every penny.
Jesus Juarez-Reyes
Revival is seriously amazing, probably some of the best fried-chicken I’ve ever had. I was skeptical but when the food arrived everything was excellent. I had the grits, mac & cheese, shared a whole bird, and also my own order of spicy chicken & waffles (i had to see if the food lived up to the hype!). I highly recommend the Tennessee hot chicken & waffles - the sweet mixes with the heat very well and the chicken is satisfyingly crispy. The meal was pricier than most chicken places I’ve been to, but considering how much the chicken stands out it is justified.
Low points - a room temperature glass water container is on the table & it was hard/took too long to get a refill. Sufficient napkins were also an issue. The non-alcoholic drinks seem too expensive for what you end up getting (I tried the sweet tea & lemonade, ended up paying state fair prices $$)

I was already drooling just reading the menu. Had the chef's choice Tennessee Hot with hoppin' john and collard greens, best friend got the chicken n waffles with cheese grits and mac n cheese. Moment of silence ensues as we shuffled dishes around sharing plates and savoring every bite. The portions were definitely worth the price and I will absolutely be coming back to try other tasty items that I simply didn't have the stomach space for.
Also, Heather S was very helpful in guiding us through the menu and provided delightful service. My tastebuds are still singing and I can't wait to go back!
Delana Elarms-Andrews
The chicken was seasoned well and the waffle was so light and fluffy. My friend, who is very picky, loved her shrimp and grits (I sampled and they were good). Greens were good. Didn't careful the noodles in the Mac n cheese, but it was ok. I loved the lemonade.
Julie (Rose)
amazing food! have not stopped thinking about it. i got the chicken sandwich and the chicken was juicy and crispy paired with a fluffy toasted bun and their habanero sauce, YUM!
Carol Roith
Give it a 8 out of 10.. chicken was warm except for one piece with was piping hot and not cooked all the way. A little pink.
I could only conclude that All but one.piece of the chicken was already fried and sitting when I ordered.

I have had this place on my radar for awhile now. My girlfriend has never had chicken and waffles so I thought this would be the perfect place to go. When I got there, the place really reminded me of Portland and not in a good way. The staff lacked uniforms, we ordered our food at the counter instead of getting waited on, a 20% service charge was added to our tab, and the place had the Covid jitters. So atmosphere was definitely lacking.
For the food, well, the chicken was tasty but had a lot of grease! Instead of being chicken strips, the chicken was actual chicken with bones in it so this made it hard to eat the chicken with the waffles. And honestly, I can make them better. The one truly shinning part of the meal was the biscuits with their butter.
So I think the place gets 3 stars for me. Not bad, not good, just meh! I would choose to save my $70 next time.
T Hanson
Tried the chicken sandwich and it was great! Picked up a couple of sides as well mac-n-cheese, and grits - both also top notch, as was the banana creme pie!
Still waiting for the return of the poultrygeist chicken! Legitimate heat - but delicious!!

Thick slabs of finely roasted meat will adorn whatever entree you get here. Have the BLT and you'll find bacon on it so hearty that you'll think it came from a mastodon. And when you sit down, find various delectable sauces waiting for you to sample from in your meat. All that, a friendly staff, and a few place in Keg & Case to go get dessert afterward.
Tamara Peterson
Delicious chicken of course! I’m a true Minnesotan through and through so I can’t real say how authentic it is to the South but it certainly feels that way to me! I got the chicken sandwich and it was huge and filling and delicious. The mac and cheese was also excellent. I’ve eaten in restaurant and had a very pleasant experience (wait time for food was longer but worth it) but got take away this time and the food travelled well ~15 minutes away
Carolyn Packard
Excellent gluten friendly fried chicken. Great hot sauces, collard greens, rice and red beans and cider.
Moved to sit at the bar and had a wonderful experience.
Jordan Chardukian
The best burger & chicken I've ever had! Will go there every time I'm in Minneapolis!
Rachel Sporer
Revival is so tasty! It's small but the wait is short even during peak times post pandemic. The food is worth any crowd! My partner gets the chicken and has so many good things to say! I have gotten various appetizers and always been impressed. They used to have a delicious pimento grilled cheese, but since i tried the cauliflower with coconut rice I will never go back!!! This dish was so flavorful and a great texture. I want to go back and get it tomorrow. Their wine and beer options are decent and the service has been good.
MishaMPLS
After hitting the St Paul location and Blackstack brewing we needed desert. On the way home we decided that what better place to close out an evening like this than Minneapolis Revival and its crispy pigs ears. Because they offer food to go now it was no problem getting in and out. We've eaten here before and loved everything they have. This was no different.
Laura Potter
I was so excited to try Revival. But unfortunately, it was not as wonderful as expected. The dry rub chicken wings had hardly any dry rub on them which caused them to taste bland. The also were not cooked consistently as some were undercooked and not edible. We had to check each one before eating to not get a surprise bite of raw chicken. I really wanted to like the sweet potatoes as they are one of my favorites, but, I really can't tell you much about them other than the juices they are cooked in were juicy as it was mostly that and little sweet potato. The southern chicken was cooked and seasoned very well. The two sauces were flavorful. The best part of the meal was the biscuits as they were fresh and melted in your mouth. We had long bouts of when or server checked on us and missed opportunities to sell us another beer. He also didn't offer us dessert and we had to ask about it. It was busy so maybe that contributed to some food being not prepared well, but someone should check to make sure it is consistent.
Jim Vogel
excellent food at very reasonable prices. the mac and cheese was very creamy and tasty. the mashed potatoes were full of flavor and the 2-piece chicken was moist with a light flaky batter. to top things off we shared a large slice of banana cream pie that was delicious. we'll be back again soon
Kelly W
Good god this place is incredible!! Decided to give them a try on DoorDash tonight since I’ve heard great things. Got the chicken and waffles and cheese curds. I made the right decision tonight.
The cheese curds are lightly fried and seasoned like cheese curds should be. You will not mistake them for mozzarella sticks here.
The Tennessee hot fried chicken was delightful and had a nice flavor with a bit of a kick. The waffle wasn’t dry or soaked in juices when it got to me either. It complemented the chicken perfectly.
I’m so glad I finally had a chance to try this place, even though it wasn’t for dine in service. If you’re unsure if it travels well for delivery, it definitely does. Support them today, you will NOT be disappointed.
Zach Bowe
I had a two piece chicken with grits and it was delicious. Might be the best fried chicken I have ever had. The staff is attentive and friendly. If I had to give it a down side it would be the location is quite small which makes moving around to use the restroom or what not kind of a challenge.
Brandon
First time ever trying brisket and I stopped here to get the Brisket Sandwich. So glad I did because just walking into the building, the smell of meat is really all you can smell and the flavor along with the BBQ sauce just brought my taste buds to it's knees. This is a must stop for anyone wanting to indulge in the inner carnivore. Great food!
Jeff Heaslip
Very good Southern food with Collard Greens ,Mac Cheese, Suckatash and specializing in Fried Chicken!
Claire Erickson
I have been going here for a few years now and they are extremely consistent. Their cheesy grits are fantastic and I do not usually like grits at all. Mac and Cheese is amazing as well. Can't forget the star of the show, the chicken. Juicy and high quality every time
slab ranko
Great food. Awesome chicken. Wish there was more to pick from the menu
John Ross
BEST FRIED CHICKEN EVER. Super crispy, seasoned, juicy and just delish. Not greasy at all. I got the chicken to go and it even traveled home well. I got a side of mashed potatoes and glazed carrots on the side, super yum! Potatoes were so creamy. Can not wish to have a dine in experience!
Ryan Hjelle
We ordered a whole chicken and sides of collard greens, mac n cheese, grits and coleslaw. The collard greens were some of the best I have had! The mustard coleslaw was wonderful and I normally don't like coleslaw. The only downside was that it was 95 degrees outside and there was no air conditioning inside! While the oppressive heat inside added to the overall southern aesthetic, I mostly used my cloth napkin to wipe the sweat off of my brow.
amy gutowski
Service was wonderful. Food was mediocre and over priced. Chairs were really uncomfortable.
Josh Drum
Best chicken sandwich I have ever had. Great service, and I love the Reggae:)
D C
Chicken was good and the grits were delicious! Mac-n-cheese was ok!
Paula Lawson
My family and I visited this restaurant while visiting Minnesota. The fried chicken, collard greens, mac & cheese and waffles were so DELICIOUS!! My husband also loved this root beer that they carry. The customer service was AMAZING as well. We will definitely be visiting when we go to Minnesota again.
Sophie Pettit
We got the chicken waffle which was amazing and the grits which were also amazing but fairly small for the price. Super yummy place and fun ambiance but I feel like it’s a bit expensive for southern food.
Andrew Hoese
Amazing southern food! Slightly on the expesive side, however, everything I've tried is well worth it. Highly recommended.
Stephen Kwiatkowski
I've been here twice now due to the very high ratings, but both times I've been disappointed. Certainly not a bad restaurant, but not 5 stars for me.
The space is nice, but very small. With no reservations or call-ahead seating it can be a gamble to show up and get a table.
Service was nothing special. Not rude or anything, just took our order and brought food.
Breading on the chicken was great, but the actual amount of meat left both me and my wife a little disappointed. She got the chicken sandwich, and said it was more breading than chicken. I got a 2 piece and felt similarly.
Fried green tomatoes tasted fine, but cost $9 for 4 slices of tomato and a plain lettuce and radish accompaniment.
Beans and rice were flavorful, simple, and hearty. Grits were rich and buttery. Mustard slaw was ok, but our waitress didn't really seem to know what was in it when I asked, so I didn't have expectations.
Ordered a bunch of things including drinks, so the bill was over $60, but I just didn't feel like the meal I had was worth it.
Joseph Allen
The food here was truly amazing. Fried chicken done southern style. The biscuits were strange in an awesomely good way! The wait staff was very knowledgeable of the menu. It was quite busy when we were there but our waiter took time to be personable. We weren't just another table to them.
Jesse M
Tasty comfort food. Highly recommend cheese curds and chicken and waffles.
Xena Fitkowsky
Best fried chicken that I've ever had. The Tennessee hot style was the one I went for since I love spicy food (their medium hot sauce). It was delicious, and had a creeping hot flavor that stuck with me for a while. If you're with others I suggest trying the beer battered cheese curds to share, they have unbelievable flavour; out of this world!
Michael Mosley
If you like southern fried chicken, come here! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal! The sides come in ramekins. We enjoyed the red beans & rice, the cheesy grits, and the green beans. The food is delicious, the prices reasonable and the portions generous. This place has a fun vibe with good service. I also appreciated the ample on street parking. Come! While my son has been here, was my first visit with very high expectations. All were met! Great chicken, great sides, great great waiter, and very hectic vibe. Only disappointment was beef brisket- very dry. Prices are a bit high-$320 for six of us- but varied menu and whole experience left no one complaining. Will certainly visit again.
Steven Hamonic
Excellent food. Nashville hot chicken and waffles were an A+
Rachel Holzknecht
S/O to Emma for the A1 service! She is an expert at anticipating needs and making guests feel special. We will definitely be requesting her when we visit again :)
P Collins
Busy place. Be prepared to wait for a while if you get there late. The food is really good. Fried chicken is legit. Their burger is great, as well. They do brunch on the weekends, too. I'm deducting a star for their horribly painful seating. Those metal chairs absolutely suck, and the wood benching isn't much better. Spend some money and fix this Revival. Lastly, I'm not amused with the 6% service charge. Raise prices slightly to recoup extra money for wages. It's bogus, and I hate these service charges.
Nicholas StOurs
Awesome atmosphere, good music and the food was the beez kneez!
Natan Gutt
I love revival! One of the best spots for amazing wings and a seriously great chicken sandwich. But I’m sitting here now at the restaurant at the end of my meal slightly disappointed. The service was lackluster at best. The server barely said more then 10 words the whole time while at the same time her hands were on her hips. There was no small talk or energy from her at all. And the most unfortunate part was the food today. With it being a pandemic and the rushes are slower there is no time for the food to not be up to exceptional. The wings weren’t tender like usual. The collard greens weren’t seasoned enough nor soft enough. And lastly the Tennessee hot chicken sandwich seemed to have had no salt. I’ve been here plenty of times and have always thoroughly enjoyed these exact items. Times are tough and the last thing I want to do is bash anyone trying to keep their doors open. But when times are this tough the service has to be on point and the food can’t miss a beat!
W C
This place's atmosphere is best for those that want to have a fun dinner with friends. Not quiet, but upbeat and exciting. The Tennessee hot chicken is the best in the area and I'm always craving it. The service is always good too! I have yet to find a place with better fried chicken. Note, their pickles are really good too.
Jennifer Sopsic
Scrumptious southern food in S MPLS. Go hungry and you must try a salad with homemade buttermilk ranch, biscuits, hush puppies, fried chicken, grits and mac and cheese. I’m sure the rest of the menu is absolutely delicious as well. Go early, sometimes there is a lineup out the door! I understand they now have other locations around town….,.
david black
Overall, nice experience. A little loud on a Friday night, and watch out for Tenn Hot! But the quality was v good.
Coral Dirks
Excellent food and service. Space is a bit cramped. Can get incredibly noisy and difficult to communicate when busy. Southern fried chicken lacks flavor but I think they are more well known for the sauces. Highly recommend the cheese curds and Johnny Cakes. The only thing I wish is that this place offered their other meats -- this location basically only has chicken.
Michael Lucke
The fried chicken was some of the best American fried chicken I've had. The chicken and waffles were really good. It was seasoned really well and tasted great. I would recommend trying this place out if you live in the twin cities area. Also, the parking in the area is not the best, so make sure you are prepared. Also, note that this is not the same thing as revival smoked meats in keg and case. I don't know if there is a relationship between them, but just be aware that they don't have the same menu items. This place focuses more on fried chicken. Another thing to note is that it is a little hard to notice since the sign does not stand out much. Other than the sign and parking, I have no complaints. They have good food and good service.
D C
We drive 30 mins each way to pick up Revival’s fried chicken, fried green tomatoes and cheesy grits and it’s completely worth it every time. If you like spicy hot food, their Tennessee hot chicken is out of this world and their sauces are a must to include. This place is “last meal” good so don’t miss out!
Andy Roy
Ok, I started eating takeout here during the pandemic and I love it. But the best news is that they started serving their gluten-friendly chicken again so now my wife can experience it, and she loves it too! Best chicken we've ever had!
John K
Soooooo good!! Their chicken is excellent. Our Tennessee hot was pretty dang spicy this time. I'd just get regular next time and add my own hot sauces, which they offer some home made options of. They were rated best burger in the twin cities so we had to try it. It was absolutely my favorite burger I've had yet. Make sure to add bacon to it! The mac and cheese and mashed potatoes were delicious. The table next to us got the cheddar biscuits and they looked so good. Cant go wrong with this place!!
Michael Melby
The BEST chicken I have EVER eaten. Fast, friendly wait staff. Mac and cheese was baked to perfection to reveal a creamy blend of pure comfort. Vivacious atmosphere which makes it hard to visit with those at same table, but the food makes up for it. Cheddar drop biscuits were a bit too chewy for my liking, but flavorful and were a hit at our table. Find this place, you will not be disappointed.
Jim Hermodson
Decent food, poor service/execution. The food...The brisket plates were moist, the Asian ribs were flavorful but a bit dry, the cornbread and corn pudding were great. The experience...the ordering process takes away from the dining experience, the ordering tool didn't fully work (one person's order wouldn't take), one person's partial order was brought out a full 10 minutes before anything else, the remainder of their order was brought out five minutes before the next person's order, the last items were brought out a full 30 min after the first item was delivered (our party of 4 was only one of about 5 parties in the place). The server seemed embarrassed so seemed to avoid us, instead of getting us an update. No real apology or comp on anything as you might expect for such poor execution. It was only their second weekend open, so likely still some launch issues. The food is likely up to revival standards, but the service needs more work...give it a few more weeks to get the kinks out before bringing clients. Hopefully they'll get it figured out.
Wilhelm Urbina
The food was nice but the service from our server was not so much. I was ready to order and our server just walked to the front desk when I said this. Then he proceeds to wash a table and I had too tell him again that I was ready to order food. Even when foods comes out he doesn’t offer condiments or any other things you would after receiving your food. Overall story I shouldn’t have to ask my server multiple times I need help to get serviced.
Maren Ronald
Brunch was so good! Biscuit Benedict paired with a salad was just perfect
Leah J
Five stars for the staff - they were nice and attentive, and they were having fun while being professional. The fried chicken was good, but not as good as I hoped it would be. Surprisingly enough my favorite item we ordered was he burger - it was amazing and is a must. The fried green tomatoes, dry rubbed wings, and cheese curds were also delicious!
Regina Hernandez
So I've been gluten-free for over eight years now and I can't tell you the last time that I've had fried chicken..... so when I heard about this place and that they offer gluten-free fried chicken I knew I had to try it! And I am so glad that I did, not only is there chicken super juicy but the crispiness of the gluten-free outside is fantastic! Collar greens are also fantastic and pair well with the fried chicken and the hot sauce that they serve! Highly would recommend going here and I'll definitely be back!
Sheena Curry
This place has excellent fried chicken. There are three different spice levels; southern fried, Tennessee hot, and poultrygeist. I had the southern fried because I don't like a ton of spice. Their cheddar drop biscuits and green beans were also excellent. Prepare to wait a bit for a table, especially if you have a larger party, but don't let that deter you. It is worth the wait.
Sami Ghandour
Fantastic, southern-style food. We got the gluten-friendly whole bird, and it was the best fried chicken I've ever had (the next time I'm there I'll give the Tennessee hot a try). The restaurant is simple; no frills and cozy, which appeals to me personally. I had heard the hype and was not disappointed at all.
Just an FYI, it gets really busy around dinner time and there is usually a wait (they don't take reservations).
Forrest Edwards
I really like the food here, but I think the online service fee is a bit dishonest. It isn't listed in the FAQ's and you only see it if you click on 'view more' so yeah its technically on display... as Douglas Adams would say "down in the basement, in a disused lavatory, with a sign on the door that says 'beware of the leopard'.. " so you don't really find out about it until the end when you are ready to place your order. But yeah the food's amazing, just know that the prices are all inaccurate.
Omar Santana
I just ate there for the very 1st time a few hours ago. I had chicken & waffles. it was EXCELLENT. I had their cheese curds for an appetizer which was great. for dessert I had their peach pie, also great. next time I'll have their chicken sandwich. their staff is very friendly & eager to please. i like their bathroom where they use little cotton towels to dry your hands instead of paper, which is cool. the only bad thing I can say about Revival is their chairs feel uncomfortable because the backs of them arches inward too much. I wish I could've sat on their bench seating. Revival's reputation for their chicken is definitely well earned. I can't wait to go back!
bethany kelly
Best fried chicken I've had!! The breading is crispy but stays on. Sides were really nice too - liked the butternut squash salad and the pickles seemed like a nice way for my husband to cut the heat on his crazy poultrygeist chicken. I shared the classic southern fried style with our 4YO, which was great and not at all spicy. His ghost pepper sauce meant he couldn't talk for about 10 minutes, but he's talking about trying to go tackle a full bird with a friend (boggles my mind).
Evan Leslie
Absolutely love this restaurant (although I personally prefer the atmosphere of the St. Paul location more).
Food is excellent as always, and makes a great venue for a date. The Mac & Cheese is fantastic, as are the homemade pickles, and I highly recommend the Tennessee Hot and Poultrygeist fried chicken. The latter has the best flavor, although be warned it really is incredibly hot.
If I had one complaint, it's that the server interrupted us often. She was very nice, and clearly was not trying to be rude or anything, however she would far too often come over to the table and ask how we were doing, pouring more water from the pitcher and constantly refilling wine glasses from our bottle at the table. She was clearly trying to be helpful, but it became overbearing. I'd prefer not to be checked on every 5 minutes, and am perfectly content in pouring my own wine.
Again, the server was trying their best, and was clearly attentive so I won't knock down my rating of the restaurant as a whole, but I'd definitely prefer a more hands-off approach to the service after the food has been brought to the table.
Overall, highly recommend. Best southern food I've had in the cities!
Diana Madigan
Long wait. 62 minutes. But I enjoyed time out on the bench with my partner and will actually never forget it! The staff were so friendly and the wallpaper was cute. We ordered fried green tomatoes, which were delicious, but small portion. We loved the southern fried chicken, the mac and cheese (my favorite part of the meal), and the cherry beer. We did not care for the hush puppies at all but we put some cinnamon on them at home and fried them up again, so they were edible. We were dying to get out of there because it was so loud! Overall good food, good service. But next time I'm going at lunch time.
Deshae Myers
Service was good and the food was great definitely recommend this place I will be coming back for sure!
Loren Lampson
Woo boy! The crispy-st fried chicken around! Super juicy meat with a good coating of crunch.
We had cheese curds, hush puppies, mashed potatoes and gravy, traditional fried chicken, and Kentucky hot fried chicken!
Everything was so good! The cheese curds were fried just right, the hush puppies came with this great sauce, and the mashed potatoes had a great white gravy.
Skye Dawn Taylor
Best collard greens I've ever had! The chicken was good too. Tender and juicy. Great breading. The mac and cheese was decedent. Very cheesy! Sweet tea tasted like what I've had down south. You get your money's worth at this place. I will definitely be back. It's a small place. Very popular. Your guaranteed to wait for a table.
Joel Rogness
I really enjoyed Revival. Excellent sauces, fine sides. Service and atmosphere were decent. The chicken was only OK though - and I'm being a little picky here - but it was overly brined: rubbery, and extremely salty. And I like salty stuff. If you're guzzling beer you probably won't notice. Good place, but there's much better fried chicken to be had elsewhere.
Edit: I went back and the chicken was much better. Well seasoned, crisp and delicious.
Teah Stivers
I've noticed that street parking is best directly behind the restaurant. My first visit was on a Wednesday at 4pm for dinner and we were seated at a table immediately. My second visit on Saturday we arrived at 12:30pm for lunch and noticed several people waiting outside. Luckily there were two seats open at the bar and we were seated there. On both visits here we split Southern Fried 1/2 bird, Mac & Cheese, biscuits, and the chocolate pie. The chocolate pie with the pretzel crust was delicious. The fried chicken is amazing! I took one leftover piece of chicken home and it was just as good the next day. Revival has amazing staff working and fast service.
If you go during prime dinning times be prepared to wait for a table. The bar will serve you drinks while you are waiting for a table.
Jon Mes
Vegetarian friendly options -- even with their limited menu!
Their vegetarian beet reuben sandwich was fantastic, and paired superbly with their fried green tomatoes side (cane with fresh greens salad as well).
Delicious, healthy eats!!
Aaron Grimm
The chicken is very moist and tender. My fiance and I both had the Tennessee Hot which had the right amount of heat and flavor. We shared mac & cheese as well as hush puppies and it was more than enough food for us. Both of the sides had great taste to them and we're very flavorful. The prices are very reasonable and it has a great atmosphere. It can fill up quick but tables seemed to turn quickly enough that the wait wouldn't be too terrible. I would highly recommend this place for some really great tasting fried chicken and southern sides. Also, their banana cream pie is pretty wonderful.
James Russell
Wow !! All the hype was correct, best spicy Tennessee chicken sandwich I have ever had 😉. And the Mac & Cheese was perfect. We will be back soon !!. Great staff and good service.
Ty Bayles
Revival has hands down one of the best burgers I've ever had. On top of that, their chicken is out if this world. It's hard to eat fried chicken anywhere else because they have set the bar so high! Great selection of feel-good home food make this the ultimate destination for a quick lunch or dinner with friends
Suzannah Schiefla
Fantastic food, even better experience! During a long weekend in Minneapolis, this place made it to the top of my list! Small and cozy, Revival serves wonderful, can't-get-enough food! A friend and I split an order of fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, and pickles (just like grandma used to make). My goodness, it was all so tasty! The food all smelled and looked delicious. The atmosphere is wonderful and the music was on point. We went later in the evening after the dinner rush and found a very relaxed dinner atmosphere. Our server was very cool and helpful to us as tourists. If I am ever back in the city, Revival will be the first place I eat!
James Ballenger
Nice homey atmosphere. I would have loved to had a pimento cheese side option (by itself), and the same with the fried catfish ( nuggets). But my fried chicken was crisp on the outside and juicy inside. Unfortunately there wasn't an option for dairy free due to the nature of everything being fried in the same oil. Otherwise I recommend that you visit.
Brian A.
It's been a couple years, but just as good as always.
Chris Doffing
3.5/5 Host was friendly, service was nothing special but satisfactory. Ambience was a little on the cold side with pretty uncomfortable seats. The food however was delicious. Had the southern style white and dark chicken, mac and cheese, and drop biscuits.
In the future I would skip the dinning experience and would opt for the take out menu. The food is definitely worth it!
Chris Dunlap
Best southern fried chicken I've had in almost a decade. Eat it like no one is watching. Personally, I wouldn't order anything else of the menu... Not spacious, so don't make a party of it and you will have a wait. Decor is very retro, down to the light temperature. Probably best to go when it's not freezing cold. Also kind of bummed they don't take reservations in 2018.
Justin Wiertzema
This place is a great place to go with friends or loved ones. Don't expect to get in quickly with a large group but if you can wait, it is well worth it. There is something for everyone here. My friend and I share the Tennessee hot whole bird and for two adult males it is a good portion size. I highly recommend that for your first time to order a ton of sides. You will be surprised by just how good they are. I have always hated collard greens but I was adventurous and gave them another shot. Boy was I surprised at how good they were. The staff are all delightful and will take great care of you. Please don't pass this place by without giving it a shot!
Diana Eide
This review is for when they were in St. Paul and Keg & Case, we have not tried the new location in Minneapolis. We have been to the restaurant in Minneapolis many times, it is one of our favorites. This location is completely different from those but still yummy. I had the Cubano which was really good. My only complaint with it was that it wasn’t quite hot enough, was warm. My husband had the burnt ends sandwich and really enjoyed it. He did say the bun masked the taste of the meat so he ate the meat and left the buns. We shared a side of the grits which were really tasty.
Steve Tran
Food was amazing, best fried chicken I've had anywhere. Service was great, but we be warned, there probably will be a wait. We got here at 5 and didn't get seated til 6:45. Food did not disappoint. Had the southern fried and the Tennessee hot fried chicken, both were amazing! For the sides had the mac and cheese, collards and biscuits, all were also delicious.
Trygve Friswold
The chicken is amazing! The tenesee hot is perfect for people who love a little spice, but not too much. The sweet tea is home made I believe and it is the BEST sweet tea you will EVER have. Its a very cool take on southern food. Even the sides are great. The macaroni and grits, ooh don't even get me started!! I would highly suggest anyone who remotely enjoys fried chicken to come here and try it. Also for the people who aren't into chicken, their burgers are so juicy and good.
Emma Wolf
Delicious southern inspired cooking. Everything is on point with it's flavor. The chicken is decadent, juicy and fresh in flavor. Also the atmosphere is fun and cozy. The server was excellent and the food came out incredibly quickly.
Matthew Lane
Fantastic food! We split the southern fried chicken between 3, along with 3 sides, and it was almost too much. All the food is awesome and makes the long wait (90 mins) for a table worthwhile. The staff are cool and the atmosphere is super friendly too. The fact the bill came to less than $30pp was a nice surprise as well.
Jhony Blanco
Pretty good, I got the southern fried chicken and that was good, the mashed potatoes were average, Mac and cheese was okay. The revival signature sauce was great! It's a small restaurant so expect a wait. Service was good but a little slow being that I went at an off time. It's a cool ambiance, but I don't know if it was worth the price.
Thomas Kent
Love this place! The chicken and Mac and cheese are my go to! The Tennessee hot is a bit spicy but bearable, haven’t had the guts to try the hottest one! Also love the Minneapolis waffle and chicken sandwich with over east egg, so good! Both locations are awesome!
Y B
Revival has quickly become a household favorite! If im taking my guest out toneat catch me here sitting in my parked car outside of the restaurant eating a chicken sandwich! They had a cuban sandwich as a chefs choice item in april, mouthwatering. Everyone i bring loves the grits! 10/10 would recommend and the staff is always great
Gloria LaFleur
The chicken is very flavorful and definitely worth the price. The waffles on the waffle sandwich were drenched in butter. I never thought I would say something could be too buttery - but it was. The hush puppies were delish. Overall worth the trip but skip the waffles.

Amazing! Such good food! I absolutely love the friend chicken and all the sides. My Texan friends refuse to order food from anywhere else. The burger is phenomenal as well, especially with the bacon. The mac and cheese is unbeatable.
Go early on weekends, like 4:00, because they get busy. They do takeout and bite squad, though my personal favorite thing to do is sit at the bar and eat all the food by myself. All the staff are friendly and helpful, definitely an easy place to walk into a feel welcomed!

Southern style food that is fresh made!
We received a recommendation from a friend that said I would love this place. They weren't wrong.
There was a wait when we got there for about 30 minutes but we were able to go on a walk through the neighborhood and they sent us a message when the table was ready.
We ordered the cheese curds for an appetizer and the chicken and waffles for our main meal.
Everything came out hot, fresh, and delicious. Possibly the best cheese curds I have ever had. The chicken was perfectly cooked as well as the waffles.
I commented that food like this is one of the reasons why it's okay that America has an obesity problem.
Chris Knox
Ate here with 2 other people. The food was excellent across the board. The banana cream pie especially stood out. But the seats in the dining room were very uncomfortable.
Nate B
Absolutely worth the wait. One of the best meals I've ever eaten at a restaurant. The burgers a 10/10, and I'm a snob, I've only given that rating once before*. The chicken is succulent and crispy. The sides are amazing, best mac and cheese I've ever had. And the pies- fantastic, if almost too much whipped cream. Truly a wonderful experience. The hour wait sucked, but was worth it in the end. Try this place- you won't regret it.
*The other 10/10 burger is Victory 44's Perfect Burger.
Bill
Great fried chicken! Simple menu with great chicken and appropriate side dishes. Little spendy but high quality food.
So if you want a nice sit down dinner at a place where you can get adult beverages with your meal, this is the place place! If your cheap go to Popeye's.
Tina McCambridge
Everything was awesome! Had the Tennessee Chicken, mac n cheese, hush puppies, and Tennessee fries. Chicken was cooked to perfection. No pink, lots of flavor and juicy!
Customer service was great. Checked on us just enough.
Donna Wing
I have loved fried chicken since I was a child and wanted to see if all the hype was true.
I thought the southern fried chicken was okay and the mac and cheese also just okay, as it seemed more like mac and cheese soup - certainly not the best I have ever had. Maybe this was southern style, but having lived in the south for 7 years, I don't recall the cheese sauce being so thin.
The service was very good, we arrived at 2:00 pm to avoid waiting. Another person in the group had the Tennessee hot chicken and thought it good (at least spicy as opposed to MN spicy), and the cheddar drop biscuits were great.
Would I go again? Probably not. I think you can get much better fried chicken at a place in Shakopee, and it's all you can eat dark meat on Thursdays. I'm not hung up on whether or not it's Southern style - I just want great fried chicken.
Aaron Furuseth
The food here is wonderful but the service and the pricing, not so much. While I can kind of get behind the chicken pricing (9$ for two pieces) the 2 pieces I got had almost no meat on them. I am willing to chalk that up to my own bad luck. However, the wings were a pathetic serving of 5 small pieces, albeit w/ all 3 joints on them, for 12$. Sides were ok but still on the expensive side @ 5$ and 6$ respectively for small ramekins of green beans and collard greens. Maybe the mac and cheese and others are better deals? The real disappointment was the server who made a minimum of effort to check on us during our almost 2 hour lunch. The place wasn't very busy and a table that had come in after we had gotten our wings had finished their entire 4 piece chicken by the time we got our 2 piece. When I asked her @ about the 1 hour and 20 minute mark about our order she acted like I was crazy and said it would be out in another 5 minutes. It took about another 20! While I can understand that this is cooked to order, it would have been nice to have a little more attention. I flagged her down for one drink refill but didn't bother with the second and just drank water. She wasn't even alone in the place as there was another server and someone who I took to be a manager who was standing around and eventually brought us our chicken and sides. All told, I will be going back to try the food again but am really not impressed with my first visit and my second may be my last. Food-5/5, service 3/5, price 3/5.

Food is great! Get the signature fried chicken and waffles. They are bone-in but take your time and it’ll be fine. The restaurant itself is very small and tight so it’s hard to get a seat sometimes and you’ll be elbow to elbow with another restaurant-goer. Good cider and beer, don’t order the pop cause they come in a non-refillable bottle.
Justin Kindelspire
There's a reason this place is always busy- their chicken is outstanding. Both the traditional and Tennessee hot chicken are well worth the wait. The cheeseburger and collard greens are great, too. Due to its business, however, it can be hard to carry on a conversation sometimes.
Doug Seabolt
Restaurant automatically adds a Service Charge of 20% to all orders. Pursuant to Minnesota Statute Section 177.23, subdivision 9, this Service Charge is not a tip or gratuity for employee service. However, this Service Charge does go towards supporting equitable wages for all our employees, hospitality included. Amazing policy!
Their hamburger, while tastes good, is no bigger than a 1/4 pounder, served alone, with a 15% tip you are now all in at $17.50.
David Rust
Revival is a splendid restaurant that does crispy fried chicken the way it was meant to be! Absolutely juicy, without a hint of dryness, both dark and light meat equally perfectly made, and served hot and from a kitchen that cares! The sides are wonderful including fantastic hushpuppies and cheesy biscuits. The cheesy grits, were absolutely silken!
The service was fantastic, prompt, polite, and professional! The wait for a seat was what you would expect in a small, intimate setting that's become incredibly popular! And it's worth the wait!
The only downsides to the establishment are the noise levels being very, very, very loud and the uncomfortable seating. I have a bad back, and that was an issue for me. But the food is definitely worth it! It's worth every penny!
Shannon Radford
Oh my gosh. What can I say about this place that hadn't already been said?! The fried chicken is how you want it, crunchy or crunchy and spicy. The Mac and cheese is perfection. The burger is savory and cheesy without being greasy. Go here!! And get the mustard slaw.
Sidd Shanmugam
This little chicken joint has a classy southern hospitality feel. The Tennessee hot chicken is just absolutely amazing as well as the lemonade. Service is also great especially given how crowded it can get. Highly recommend it for anyone craving some real fried chicken.
Anthony Ruddy
I really enjoyed my first trip here. it's a smaller place but very warm and welcoming feel. they seem to specialize in chicken which I found to be amazing. I got the chicken and waffles and would highly recommend them. both of the chicken sauces were excellent as well as the craft beer on tap. only negative is it was a bit pricy.
Lillaia C
Great atmosphere (the napkins are kitchen towels, but this would still be a good place for a date night) and wonderful food. The fried chicken is really delicious, it tastes like it's brined in (hopefully) buttermilk and so the meat is really flavorful but I do wish the heat was slightly lessened as I felt as though I couldn't taste any other flavor in the breading besides it. I would absolutely still come back though! The mac'n' cheese was creamy and rich with a nice crust of cheese and breadcrumbs on top, and the red beans and rice are made with bacon and are perfectly flavorful.
Dharma
Excellent customer service and good food but fried chicken was underwhelming considering this is a southern restaurant. Some of the sides were good but others were flat.
Definitely a unique place to try out but unsure if this is a true southern cuisine. Recommend trying it out for yourself but probably will not be my go to place.
Laura O
The chicken waffle sandwich was absolutely amazing ! The southern fried chicken was well done and the combinations of the different ingredients that go with it were perfect . The customer service was great as well..it was busy but we didn’t wait too long to get a table . Small restaurant but has a homely feel. Would definitely go back! Highly recommend it !

Everything was good. We had southern fried chicken, nashville hot chicken, mac n cheese, collard greens and biscuits.
Mark Fredrickson
My partner and I came here on a Sunday evening at around 5:00. We had heard a lot of hype about this place, so our expectations were high. When we arrived we were told there’d be a 30 minute delay for a table. This wasn’t an issue as they text you when your table is ready and there is a bar right across the street where we were able to grab a drink while we waited. When we were seated (it was closer to a 15 minute delay), we ordered the southern fried chicken + waffles, cheddar drop biscuits, mac + cheese, and collard greens. The fried chicken + waffles was good, but I thought the chicken was much better when I added their sauces. The cheddar drop biscuits were a bit dry. The collard greens were terrible and we requested a refund. The mac + cheese was very tasty. Along with two glasses of wine, the final bill came out to around $50. Under normal circumstances we’d have rated this restaurant with 4/5 stars, however given our high expectations and the only slightly above average food, 3/5 stars is our final score.
Daniel Page
Placed order online and did carry out. Meal was ready when I arrived. Staff was fast and attentive. SF chicken was juicy and flavorful with a great crispy coating and served with two nice dipping sauces. (though the chicken portion was smaller than the price paid IMO) The hush puppies, lacking savory flavor, were more like nice cornbread served with a good remoulade, the beans and rice were ok and the banana cream pie is a unique take on the classic dessert. I’ll absolutely go back for the chicken.
John Olson
Without hesitation I can say this is the best fried chicken in the Twin Cities. However, I don't really think that's really enough to set this apart as a great restaurant. While the chicken is good, there isn't anything particularly interesting or unique about it, it's just made really well. The sides were all good, but not great. The value is neither great nor bad.
At it's peak-popularity I don't think it was worth waiting hours to get in, but now as it becomes easier to get a table I think it's certainly worth checking out, especially if you love fried chicken.
Portion note: a half bird with a few sides was adequate to feed three good eaters.
Mike Weber
Today, my Daughters and SIL took me to Revival for drinks and food. They did not disappoint in the least. Tennessee Hot Chicken in various forms for them and the special, a double burger with bacon steak, cheese, onion straws and Hatch Green Chilies...so damn good... highly recommend....this was the Nicollet Ave S location....

The Revival - Minneapolis: Upon walking in I see this corner restaurant packed with people enjoying their southern food. Headed in around 7:45 pm on a Saturday night for dinner. We were told it would be a 45 min wait, but there were 2 spaces immediately available at the bar(with a great view of the kitchen). My friend and I ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes, Pork Rinds with cheese sauce, and the Fried Chicken Livers. We both ordered the 2 pc chicken for dinner. He received the Southern Fried Chicken and I ordered the Tennessee Hot Fried Chicken. The server and staff were remarkably friendly and accommodating. Our Appetizers were delivered promptly and the pork rinds with cheese definitely had a flavor I enjoyed and the Fried Green Tomatoes, something I was looking forward too, were very tasty. I did add one our their house sauces and my friend who ordered the Fried chicken livers was happy with his choice. Liver is not something I enjoy but I was able to eat it without the very strong flavor of it overwhelming me. My Tennessee Hot chicken was tender and juicy and flavorful with spice all the way through. i was surprised this place had been open for 3 years and I had just found out about it recently. The charged $54 (tipped $20 on top of the bill) for everything and quite honestly I was expecting to pay more. For the quality and the service I was ecstatic. This is a place I wont easily forget and will put on my list of places to get when nothing else will satisfy my craving for good southern fried chicken. They made a believer out of me. Thank you Revival for not disappointing me. I will be back, very soon!
Kayla Dorman
A nice, cozy little spot with a simple menu.
I enjoyed the heck out of their farmer's salad and it paired well with their burger!
Zachary Duncan
This restaurant truly is a gem. The food is exceptional and truly elevated from the traditional "fried chicken" and features many other wonderful entrees. The Tennessee hot is a personal favorite on any of the chicken, be it a "whole bird" or the delicious chicken thigh sand which. If you're going here a must have is the Brussels sprout caeser, mac and cheese, any of the chicken, and the cheese curds! The restaurant is small but you won't notice anyone around when you're enjoying the food and large beer and wine list!
Alec McEhinny
Phenomenal! Best fried chicken you will eat, and I would argue their burgers are just as good! Great customer service. I felt like I was in an idealized southern restaurant. Be careful with the spicy chicken, the medium spicy chicken was very hot.
Phacelesshero
Really delicious, fresh, perfectly seasoned. Impressed that they make a hot fried chicken that is actually hot and flavorful. So many good sides. Friendly service that knows the menu. Only nit-pick is that the restaurant is so small and somewhat noisy. If you like fried chicken you must eat here.
Dave Wicks
I had heard that the chicken was great and it did not disappoint. We had the Tennessee Heat and it had a very good kick to it. . I also had the cheeseburger and it was one of the best I've had. It practically melts in your mouth. Good beer selection. Great spot.
Ray Duncan
GREAT southern/comfort food at a fair price. Our server, Tory, was incredibly hospitable knew the menu inside out, had great recommendations and made this Texan feel right at home. We visited with our two-week old newborn and were accommodated without hesitation. This will definitely be a spot that I come to again and again - writing this review as I sit in the restaurant and wish I had room for more of their delicious fried chicken.
Paxia Her
Definitely get the Tennessee Hot fried chicken!
trenika mcgee
This place is the bomb literally hands down the food was great chicken sandwich finger licking good fried green tomatoes good and full of southern flavor cheese curds they was good they have a hint of something sweet but all the flavors balance it out weird but good Mac in cheese let’s see we’re I start everything about it was love making good and last but not lease the lemonade was everythingggg omg so good staff was awesome very friendly I will most definitely be back soon☺️
Ben Kirkham
I had good intentions of eating here for at least a couple years. I was nervous that it wouldn’t live up to my friends’ rave reviews, or that my anticipation had inflated my expectations to an unachievable level.
And man, there is nothing bad to say about this place. The service was friendly and calm, even with a waiting list ten parties deep. The entire staff (kitchen and front of house both) exuded a zen-like, “ain’t no-rush” type of calmness that fit the southern fare perfectly.
As far as the food, I’d put this chicken up against any restaurant in the Twin Cities, fine dining, causal, or food truck. I have never been so happy with a dinner. I have been thinking about it all day, and still can’t figure out how that chicken got so moist and so delicious. I am already looking forward to my next visit.
Julia Sweeney
Like you haven't heard it before, Damn Good Southern Chicken!!!
The grits were so creamy, they were out of this world. Yes, there can be wait times, but there is a reason. . .the food is amazing. Good things are worth the wait. I question the other reviewers lack of stars; did their wait time effect their ability to taste excellent food? Highly recommend going and experiencing for yourself.
Brian Juve
Seriously the best place for fried chicken and comfort food in the city. I have never left their sad or hungry; always happier (and way, way fuller) than when I arrived. In addition to the great food the staff is just wonderful. They always take such good care of their guests. Truly one of my Minneapolis and Minnesota favorite spots.
Aaron Tsay
Been to Memphis for chicken and think that this place is pretty unique as well. The chicken is very juicy, oily, and flavorful. We always order half chicken, one spicy and one not. Great options. Green tomatoes is a nice appetizer also. Price is moderate. This place is probably one of the best chicken places in twin cities.
Julie Fuller
The food is soooooo good. Our family of 6 ranging in age from teens to 70s, enjoyed everything that we ate here . We started with a couple orders of their cheese curds which were wonderful. For the meals we all ordered the awesome fried chicken and a bunch of their side dishes. Our service was great and it was worth every single penny. Can't wait to go back!!
Ben Walsh
Had the fried chicken and it was great. Called about 35 minutes before close to order a whole chicken. The staff was very accommodating when we showed up a few minutes later and asked to eat on the sidewalk patio until close.
Larry Decker
We had a party of 6, incl 2 kids. They were busy, but made room for us. Service was good. Tennessee hot chicken was a little too hot. Regular fried was very good, as was double burger.
Cory Chenevert
The dry rubbed chicken wings with endive, blue cheese & some delicious mild ranch-like sauce was amazing. The cheeseburger was phenomenal. Collard greens were some of the best I've had. Service was good. The noise level was unpleasant. The dining room was small, tight, and the space felt claustrophobic. I prefer the St. Paul location for its full bar (only beer & wine at the Minneapolis location), smoked/slow cooked entrees (eg ribs, brisket, etc), patio & more open dining space.
L.D. Ayers
Be prepared to wait but the food is out of this world! Once had to wait 3 hours to be seated- which I would normally never do. Everything on the menu is great but my favorites are the fried chicken, shrimp and grits, mac & cheese, and the greens!! So much flavor!! You won't be disappointed. Also the sweet tea!
Missy Isles
Chicken was pretty good, though personally I felt it over-priced. Fun decor, though not very spacious seating. Nearly elbow-to-elbow with the couple dining next to us. We liked the spicily options, and the sides we're very tasty, though also kind of pricy. Happy to support local business!

*Pre Pandemic Review*
Ordered the Fried Chicken and the Revival Burger. Both fantastic. A bit high for two pieces of fried chicken and no sides though. That being said they do a discounted side with the burger. Ordered the mac and cheese and it stole the show!
Maria Cote
Lunch was lovely, walked right in at 11:30 on a Friday. Chicken definitely lives up to its stellar reputation. Don't forget dessert...their pie is worth the extra time at the gym. (But not cheap...$60 lunch tab for two...before tip.)
Kevin Krautbauer
We had a really good time at revival. Be warned it is usually pretty busy and it isn't a big place so if you are coming at peak hours expect a wait. The food was really good on the most part and I really wanted to give it 5 stars, but two of our entrees were underseasoned. Their chicken was great and there cheese curds were really stand out as well.
Wilberth Garzon
Really good food. Ordered the cheese curds, chicken and waffles breakfast sandwich and the hush puppies. All of it was mouth-watering delicious. I would recommend staying away from the poultrygeist spicy level. Friends that eat ridiculously spicy foods had trouble with it and had to skin the chicken to remove some of the spiciness. Avoid that and you'll enjoy a pleasant meal.
Alison Lesperance
Long wait every time I've gone (I've only gone on weekends though). Everytime has been well worth the wait. Gluten-free options, no spice to really hot spiciness available. Mac and cheese and biscuits with sorghum butter are excellent. Great beer and wine selection. Amazing service with friendly helpful staff. Best fried chicken I've ever had. Highly recommend.
Eric Barnitt
The food is good - not great. (3.5 stars, I'm rounding down)
First, the good. Service was speedy, if largely aloof (bordering on indifference). After we ordered, our food was brought out to us very quickly. The food was delivered fresh and hot. The sides we got (hush puppies, mashed potatoes, and macaroni and cheese) were very good. I personally liked the mac and cheese best, but I'd recommend all 3. In hindsight, I wish we had tried some of the veggies while we were there. I'm assuming they would be great.
Now, the less good aspects of dinner. Let's address the elephant in the room: I do not understand the buzz about the chicken. Both of us ordered Tennessee Hot white meat, and both of us thought the chicken was OK. Not bad, but OK - and certainly not amazing like it is made out to be by so many people. Is it better than other chicken options, even fast food chicken? Yeah, probably. But is the chicken worth the price? Two pieces of chicken for $9 ($11 if you want white meat) is a lot, and at that price point I personally don't think the chicken at Revival makes sense.
Bottom line: I'll give this place a lukewarm recommendation. It's good. The sides are better than the chicken, which I find to be expensive and not worth the cost. It's worth a visit if you like chicken, but certainly not worth a special trip.
Devin Weech
We looked forward to this one for a some time unfortunately, the food was good but it didn't live up to the hype.
The positives: Excellent wait staff and good ambiance.
The negatives: The food was just okay, when compared to actual southern restaurants like those in Nashville (Prince's for example) the food had the right look and feel but none of the flavor. I had the Mac and cheese side with their Tennessee hot chicken and was sorely disappointed. The chicken was juicy but lacked any actual heat and the Mac was more cheese soup with some noodles than Mac and cheese.
Walking into a good southern restaurant you'll be hit by an abundance of delicious smelling food. Revival lacked that entirely.
All in all it feels like a Minnesotan impersonation of southern food rather than an actual southern food restaurant, somewhat tasty but ultimately forgettable.
E Juk
BEST Southern cooking in MN!!! Service was fantastic, and food was everything it's been promoted to be and more! They also have gluten free (friendly) options for almost everything--even their fried chicken and I couldn't even tell the difference!! I'm in love. Never leave us, please.
Jeff Anderson
I live in Georgia where we have a plethora of southern style food restaurants. This was just as good if not better than any fried chicken I've had. My bartender Patty was friendly. The place gets very busy. Some good brews on tap too!
Jared Morton
My 3-star review may reflect my expectations more than anything else. I've heard so many people's over-the-top praise that I anticipated a top-notch meal. That's not what I got. The pork rinds were unimpressive, and coated with way too much of their "Cheetos" seasoning. The chicken, while good, was not 5-star good, and the portion was small for the price. The restaurant itself was not over-clean, and my server couldn't stop touching her face.
Geoff Enright
This restaurant has a wonderful selection of southern style cooking, great fried chicken, sides are lovely too. If you enjoy spicy barbeque, then you will find that here as well! Highly suggest this if you want southern cooking in a northern state. The location is also nice and cozy.
Jake Van Duyne
Just plain delicious. Everyone knows this is the best place for fried chicken in the Twin Cities area. Only complaints are that they need a full bar with a specialty Bloody Mary and they need a larger restaurant. Absolutely no food here falls short of fantastic, so feel free to explore.
elisabeth oh
Had the pleasure of visiting twice; once for brunch and once on late Sunday.
The brunch had a wait and a long line, but totally worth it!
When we arrived later on a Sunday night there were plenty of available seats. The sides and the chicken are fantastic! I love the biscuits and fried green tomatoes! I really like the Mac and Cheese (so cheesy) but unless you're craving it specifically, you can find similarly well cooked Mac and Cheese from Boston Market or Noodles and Co. The hottest flavor available is definitely hot, almost unbearably so that it takes away from the perfectly crispy cooked chicken, but the other rubs are more manageable.
To the other Reviews, yes the space is small but also well-utilized.
My only note, and maybe it's just my sensitive nose, but the guests that were with me confirmed there is an odd smell inside, especially by the door. Anyway, don't let that or the wait deter you.
Michael Linton
By far some of the best fried chicken you will find, anywhere. We always make a stop here when visiting Minneapolis. The chicken is outstanding, the sides equally so - try the mac and cheese, and the hush puppies. It's often busy for dinner, so don't be surprised if you have to wait for a table. There are a few other spots close by to grab a cocktail while you wait.
Jason Merritt
The food was outstanding. Fried chicken makes this place a destination spot and I'm told the burger is right there as well. Only knock is the small size of this place and no reservations which makes the wait time almost too much...but then your chicken comes 🤤 …
Mitch Diehl
Revival is phenomenal! I had the Tennessee Hot, my girlfriend had the southern style and we shared a few sides. Not only is the food incredible but the staff is super cool. The place was slammed so the manager got our drinks and answered our questions. She was very kind and helpful. Our waiter, Scott, was genuine, a little cheeky and took great care of us! We will defiantly be back soon!
Carlos Figari
Amazing chicken. The best fried chicken on Nicollet Ave. This location has less seating than their St. Paul one so getting a table is difficult for groups larger than four. Parking is also tricky. Try and go on off hours.
If you're in a group larger than four get the whole bird and 3 sides.
Carol Kratzer
In addition to their extremely popular fried chicken, they also have an amazing burger and shrimp and grits.
The chicken and waffles dish easily feeds 2 people so you can try a couple of their sides, greens and Mac&cheese are my favorites.
Lauren Dudek
We loved Revival! The best chicken I have had, great taste and super juicy. The Mac and cheese was to die for. The waitress we had was so pleasant, really fast service. Would definitely recommend.
Melissa Mound
I have been meaning to try Revival for far too long...it was well worth the wait! Stopped in for a Tuesday lunch, staff was warm, attentive and helpful with the menu. We shared fried chicken, Mac&Cheese and a burger....woah! That burger was incredible and the chicken was some of the best I’ve ever had. Side note: try all the sauces on the table...so good! Can’t wait to come back!
Anna Dornick
My partner and I tried the Tennessee hot and the poltergeist chicken, and we are spicy food lovers! The chicken is great but order a side of milk with the poltergeist!!! It’s made with ghost peppers and they are not kidding! The Mac and cheese and burger were amazing and everything paired well with the cider house 12 sparkling dry cider. I would definitely come back again knowing what I know now about the poltergeist. Much thanks to our lovely server Lu for bringing out the milk when I needed it most and for the efficient and friendly service!
Kristin Zarr
Some of the best food I've had. The mac and cheese was amazing as well as the Tennessee Hot Chicken, cheddar drop biscuits, and the cheese curds. None of the food was a disappointment. The staff was friendly, we had great service at the bar. The place is a little on the small side but it was worth the wait.
Cam Hay
Never been to Tennessee to have the real thing but that was darn tasty Tennessee hot fried chicken. My wife had the chicken and waffles with classic Southern fried chicken. It was also very good. Also liked the wine list, and service was great.
AL Woods
I'd have to say Revival is overrated. The chicken was good, but I wouldn't say it was worth the price nor the wait. I would honestly say if you're looking for some great fried chicken try your local Cub foods. If you were to compare Cubs chicken to revivals in a blind taste test you would be surprised.
Jeff Brazee
Great food!
The dining room is a bit in the small side, so be prepared to wait. We lucked out with two places at the bar (which is first come, first served seating) within about five minutes of walking in. Otherwise an hour wait around 5:30pm on a Saturday. One caveat with sitting at the bar: Revival seems to have a booming takeout business, so be prepared to have folks coming up to the bar to pick up bags while you are eating.
Regarding the food, the fried chicken is excellent, and the sides make the experience even better. Everything seems simply but very well prepared. They don't have a lot of beer on tap, but a good selection in cans/bottles.
Worth the drive in to Minneapolis from the suburbs. We had a nice (and rare) night out!
Simon Quigg
Always a great place for fried chicken!
Netia Shores
With all the hype around the fried chicken at Revival, I wasnt very impressed. First of all, i got a two piece white meat meal. Turns out a two piece is a chicken breast cut in half. Since when is a two piece a chicken breast cut in half?!?! I got the Tennessee hot and for whatever reason the chicken tasted bland but it was spicy. Then I decided to get the plain chicken which was better but I don't think I will return. Also the sides were small for the price.
Kate Baxstrom
This place is overrated. The burger is small, the hot chicken is juicy but the spice is one dimensional, just intense heat. The place is so tiny there is always a wait, even off hours, which increases the expectations which leads to further disappointment. Way better burgers other places in the Twin Cities - maybe stick with getting the chicken to go?
Tracy Reese
%100 worth the hour wait on a Saturday night!
The chicken &waffled is the absolute best in the entire Northern US and the double cheeseburger is right up there with all the other "bests" in the Twin Cities!
Service was great. Really nice selection of beer and ciders!
Trevor Johnson
Couldn't be better. This was my first time at this location. Guests were efficiently seated, service was prompt, professional, and informative, drink selection (while not extensive) was great. Tangentially, I'd say that I prefer a restaurant not get caught up in the trends and offer 20 taps. Beer doesn't have that shelf life. Food was great. Environment was lively while I could still carry on a conversation with my companion. 2 burgers, sides, and 6 drinks was just over 60 bucks with tax. Loved it
Jennifer Parks
Traditional southern food done right. Fried chicken is the famous staple, but the side dishes are also fantastic. Location is small and often busy. They don't take reservations so be prepared to wait.
Bruna Dupre
Really good food. Small venue especially on a Saturday night. We almost gave up because of lack of parking. But, we order through chownow.com powered by Google maps. Very simple. We ordered the fried chicken, wings, biscuits and mac 'n cheese. Everything very tasty. We will surely go back at a less busy time.
Robert Kochevar
The fried chicken is great, and all the sides are delicious. Try the poultrygeist sauce for some added kick. It has ghost pepper, so don't go overboard.
The only issue at Revival is the 30+ minute wait time, so we usually go to The Lowbrow across the street for a drink while we wait.
Kathi Kuehne
This place was pretttty overhyped. The service were super friendly but..... I really wanted to love it and I couldn't. The hot chicken was way too battered and greasy. The cheese curds were, again, overly battered and almost had too much fry and not enough cheese. Tasted like pure fry oil. The mac and cheese was maybe the best thing out of all the items I had but nothing crazy special. I've had better hot chicken at other places. I wanted to come here because my experience was pretty bad at Keg and Case... all of their food was cold but... overall, it was meh.
Lanie Hei
I don't understand why people are losing their minds over this place. The chicken was good, yes, but it felt like a mock up of what southern food is for the benefit of upper class patrons who want an "authentic experience". I also didn't enjoy having my ears ringing afterwards from the noise and the overweight gentleman brushing up against me as he was ordering his food at the bar while I was eating.
Antonio Rios-Luna
I got some food to go and it was just okay. In terms of texture and mouth feel, the skin on the chicken was top notch. Otherwise, it was just bland. No flavor in the actual flesh of the chicken. Mac and cheese was also a bit bland. Overpriced. Convenient if you live in the neighborhood but don't go out of your way to try it.

Visiting from out of town, I did not expect to find a place cooking up such fantastic Southern style restaurant in Minnesota, but here it is. I had the spicy fried chicken and it was amazing. Probably the best friend chicken I've ever had. If you're in the area, this is a definite must-visit location.

This is my go to place for fried chicken in the cities. Excellent chicken, sauces, mac n cheese and Johnny cakes (my favorites). Prices are fair. The atmosphere and service is always wonderful. There is typically a decent wait if you go during peak dinner hours, however lunch seems to be much less busy and easy to get table with little or no wait.

The food was amazing! I highly suggest splitting there fried chicken and ordering a few different sides. We had their biscuits, mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. All were delicious, but the mac and cheese was my favorite. One BIG turn off from the restaurant was that is smelled like urine inside. Typically I would just walk out due to the smell but my boyfriend had eaten here previously and raved about the food.

Well, I thought I would try something different. I've heard a bunch of good things about Revival. It's a chicken place. Down south cooking in the North. I got the Tennessee Hot my wife got the Southern Style. Both were done to perfection. It's the sides where they get ya. Carrots $5, Hoppin Johnny $5, Biscuits $6.50 for 2 biscuits. In my opinion if I'm paying $9 for a 2pc meal 2 sides and biscuits should be included. The service was excellent. It's a small place and between 5 and 7 expect a wait. I gave it 3 Stars because I thought it was over priced for what ya get

All of the food here was amazing. The wait is ridiculously long on a Saturday night, but we found some other things to do to kill time. They also had an app for us to track where we were on the list so we didn't have to stand there.
Their friend chicken is life changing and their rendition of chicken and waffles is classic and amazing.

Tennessee fried chicken, burger, biscuits, mac n cheese, service-all top notch. If your looking for Tennessee spicy chicken you’ll get something close enough here. Service was delightful. Our food took a little extra time because the biscuits were made fresh so they gave us a free slice of banana cream pie. We will defintaley check this place out again when we’re in the twin cities. Highly recommend for a casual comfort food lunch or dinner.

The food is good but too expensive. Chicken sandwiches $13 no fries no salad. Quite spendy for just a sandwich. We ordered a side of Hoppin John's with bacon which is a black eyed pea salad. One cup size for $6 with only a few pieces of bacon. Food is good but way over priced. Along with the 20% automatic surcharge, probably will not be going back to Revival for quite some time

So the chicken is fantastic! Ther Johnny cakes are out of this world good!

I will start by saying, The burger was good but not great. 20 dollar bacon double cheeseburger with no sides and it was small. They serve it to you in this big box and the burger only takes up a corner.
If I were to compare this to a comparable price burger I would go to PS steak.

Chicken was delicious, as were the Hush puppies and biscuits. The Mac & Cheese could have been a little less runny and had more flavor.

Excellent as usual! Cheese Curds, Mac and Cheese and a Bacon Cheese Burger

Unconventional brunch menu, more lunch than breakfast. The chicken and waffle sandwich is so delicious. A must try. I take friends and family here as long as they don’t have dietary restrictions - I don’t think there were any compelling vegetarian options on the menu.
