Reviews of Namaste Cafe
My partner and I were craving comfort food on this rainy spring day, so we opted for Namaste Cafe. Neither of us had visited this restaurant before, but we were excited to try it. The decor was charming and the ambiance was welcoming. We were instructed to order via the QR code on the table. We ordered using our smart phones, and the food was brought out to us. It’s definitely an efficient way to place orders, but it lacks the personal touch of a full-service restaurant. We assumed this system was put in place because of Covid.
I ordered the Creamy Masala Curry with Tofu and a Masala Chai. The curry was flavorful and delicious. The tofu was perfectly spongy, but it tasted faintly of cornstarch. The basmati rice was well-cooked, but I wish it came with a larger serving. The chai was good, but not noteworthy.
Overall, it was a solid meal, but pretty pricey…
Excellent food and amazing chai!!
My mom and aunty are super picky about eating out and I decided to check out this eatery and it did not disappoint… we got the ginger cardamom chai which was just perfect and not too sweet. In addition we got some apps specially the potatoes that we award winning and were fab. My mom was super impressed with the jackfruit main dish and it was even bette that pretty much every thing was available as a vegan option. Definitely recommend!
I've really enjoyed Namaste every time I've visited. Over half the menu is meat-free, and most of it is vegan or can be made vegan. It has some great Indian street food options which aren't always available at other places. I had their chai a couple years ago and loved it, I'll have to try again soon! The last time I went I tried their Maharaja cocktail and loved it. It had a great balance of fruity, floral, and spicy flavors.
Everything is ordered via phone with a QR code on the table. Servers will bring your food out and they are very helpful and attentive even though they aren't taking your order.
Thank you soooooo very much for putting love and passion into your food!
I taste the love, this is what you call “soul food”.
My heart and soul was filled.. my tummy too.. but such a great experience to lift your spirits. From the music, to the staff.. thank you, thank you, thank you!
This is my new spot!❤️❤️❤️
Namaste!
A happy customer (iris)
Took myself on a dinner date here after years of wanting to, and it was lovely. The atmosphere is comfy and stimulating, at the same time, with the ability to people and traffic watch. Butterfly Chai = the best drink mix I've ever had. The food was amazing and lasted over a few days for leftovers. I went a little overboard to try things.
A very no pressure and safely very little contact experience. Will definitely go back soon.
I liked the place and food here. Just one star less because it is slightly costlier and the taste can be little more better. I have tried prawns appetizer and it was my favorite dish I have tried there.
My favorite place for authentic Indian food in twin cities. I have happily stopped going to other Indian restaurants after tasting Namaste Cafe's food.
I am totally on board with their organic ingredients and environment conscious efforts. I wish they didn't promote meat eating though.
Their goat curry was packed with flavor! The meat itself was slightly overcooked and tough. Could be tenderized more. I loved the atmosphere and the easy ordering service. Check out their chili potatoes!
The Jackfruit-Bamboo Shoot curry is good. Sev Puri is awesome. As close to authentic as it can come.
Great food -- but clear you schedule because you might be there a while. Plan on losing 10 minutes messing with the App, entering your credit card information, email, phone number, etc...
It's a buggy poor interface for which the headings don't work, so you're scrolling... and scrolling... to move around the menu.
For us, ten minutes later they inform us that they're out of the appetizer we ordered, and they suggested they substitute something and I agreed. But they wouldn't suggest anything even when asked, but told me I should use the app to pick a substitute. I asked them to please just choose something or cancel the appetizer (for which... you guessed it, I would have to use the App for that).
It's silly to be discussing our order with the server... so that we can put it in our phones. All of that hassle with the whole table with noses in phones; coordinating and entering each others food if we are paying for one another... all so the server inside can read what we just put into our phones after it travels around the world wide web... and then come discuss it with us? How can management not know what a poor experience this is? There was literally one other table on the patio with people at it... so it's not like they were busy.
Great food... but expect a hassle.
The food is delightful, delicious, prepared to perfection. The menu is varied, interesting and tempts you to come back often. The hands-off, highly automated service strategy is cold, impersonal and diminished my dining experience in a regrettable way. The shape of things to come?
Awesome food. Tiny little place inside a house. Annoying that you have to order everything online and pay on your phone upfront, but otherwise good. The jackfruit dish is delicious and the fried bread is to die for!
If you’re in Minneapolis and are looking for a good food place that serves organic authentic Southasian cuisines, do visit Namaste Cafe. On the street side, with beautiful lakes just 5-15 minutes of drive away, is your perfect little spot for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner or even just for snacks. And the little spot, hosted the eleven of us for brunch. We ordered a variety of dishes as you can see in the pictures. The maharaja drink was everyone’s favorite and the “aalu tareko” (fried potatoes). The aalu tareko was a big hit since it tasted the same like how our moms made it. ☺️ We ordered pani puris, bhel puris, chaats & momos as appetizers, and lamb dishes, chicken curry, paneer curry, shrimp curry, veggies, rice & paratha as entres. You can ask them to make the dishes spicy or not, as per your taste buds.
All the orders came on time and our server was very pleasant as she gave her feedbacks as well since we were ordering for a big group. The portions are big and the place is fairly priced.
I do recommend this place to everyone, since it does have a patio to chill during summer nights.
We all went home with a very happy belly.

First time being here since the pandemic started. Was not disappointed! You sit down at a patio table and then order your food with your phone and they bring it out to you like normal. Or you can get takeout in the same way.
Food is standard, American Indian fusion. We tried it when we were the only seated customers and it still took nearly an hour to prepare our two dishes and one appetizer.
I love this place! My partner and I always crave the same two curries Tangy Mango Chicken and Creamy Masala Chicken but we always try something new as well. The Coconut Spinach, chick peas, cauliflower, okra curries... are all tasty and many more. Keep in mind that you can add protein to any of the curries. We tried Paratha Bread filled with cheese last time and we'll definitely be adding that as a regular item from now on. Spice level 3 is the right amount of hot and we like a little heat. 4 is regrettable the next day and 5 is inedible! Thanks for the delicious, fresh, and cultural food experience Namaste!
This is my favorite restaurant in Minneapolis! I and my husband come here almost every month for their Papdi chat, spinach paneer and Aloo paratha. They have a cosy indoor setting and I specially love it during the summer months when you can sit out and enjoy their food & service. A definite must try place!
Good food and service. Went for happy hour and tried the two dishes in the pictures below. They were tasty, but I was still hungry afterwards. Not a great value for happy hour. The waiter was very nice but took an unusually long time returning to the table and there were not many customers. Would try this place again, but maybe not their happy hour menu.
My all time favorite restaurant! They serve genuine, healthy, delicious Indian food.
Great outdoor patio where you order food from your phone and they bring it out. The iced masala chai with oat milk was probably the best chai I have ever had. The fried rice with shrimp was incredible. They also have take out options. Free street parking nearby.
The food tastes like real food made from real ingredients. The Golgappa was like little light spoons for dipping the cold soup like sauce and quickly popping it into our mouths before it dissolved. The Paspri Chaat was like Indian nachos. The Carrot Coconut Creme Brulee was like a Thanksgiving side dish. The Deep Dish Lamb was like a heavy stew. We enjoyed it all
Tried chicken, bison, tofu momocha, apparently are the the best Momo that can be found in Minneapolis area. Papdi chat and chana chatpats were different in so many things but were delicious indeed. The seatings are spacious and well lit. Servers are nice but the service is slow as we had to wait around 30 minutes for the momocha.
The best food for a vegan or vegetarian! Although you have to order through a QR code and my phone was dying so it was a bit stressful
We had a great lunch! Their “lunch box special” was awesome since you get a variety of flavors and types of foods. Its affordable and delicious!! Great service to top it off!
Stopped over to the patio last night to enjoy a few drinks and share some appetizers. The food was delicious and fresh. It was nice and quiet, perfect for conversation. Staff was friendly, and attentive.
Every time I order takeout it takes about 45 minutes, I usually end up having to wait and sometimes certain items will be cold. I order the shrimp coconut curry often, very good most of the time! Last time the peas were still hard but other than that it was good. I do hope they hone in on their spice levels a little better as well. When I get level 3, it’s not spicy at all and then when I get level 4, my mouth and stomach are on fire. They never fail me with their ginger cardamom chai tea, it’s my favorite!!!
This is now the second time I’ve been here in the last week, and everything has been absolutely incredible both times. Great service, Thor was an amazing server, food is next level, and the atmosphere is aesthetically pleasing as well as very comforting with a home like Vibe. Our server even went to additional effort (when we asked) to let us know where their food and animal products were sourced from. Everything this restaurant is up to from their ethics on sourcing, to the culture and friendliness is a 10/10 for me.
Great, great food but be prepared to wait. Lately we wait close to an hour for our food. Have to use a QRS code to order which is pretty clunky. Please hire more kitchen staff.
Not many but a decent number of items on the menu. The food was yummy. The weather was perfect, so we enjoyed the patio seating. Mango Lassi was good!
Good food and drinks. I had a good experience my 1st time but now I’ve gone 2 more times and didn’t like my experience. The staff is SO SLOW to acknowledge you. Both recent times I went it was slow with 1 or 2 other guests. Both times I had to go in and let a worker know I was there in case they didn’t see me and it took 10+ minutes for them to even greet me and give me water.
Nice environment, menu less ordering available, COVID 10 safe.
The food was pretty great in total. It would have been nice to have a slightly more detailed description of the side sauces we ordered and if the server had a better knowledge of what comes with cilantro in it. The award winning potatoes were to die for. Sweet and savory with an added spice of delight. The crispy edges and the drench in sauce was perfect!
Namaste has been a favorite of mine for years. As a vegetarian and now a vegan I love a place that has many options for me. I have always enjoyed discussing the menu options with the servers and getting their advice. The staff has been friendly and helpful. I was sorry to see that now all ordering is done via phone using a QR code. I expect this type of thing from McDonalds but not from a small personal establishment like Namaste. The cost for food has not dropped even though the service has. I still like the food but would be happier if a human took my order.
Get the chili potatoes (with a side of yogurt to cut the spice). They are spicy, but also have a complex savory profile--they're not just there to melt your face. The fried bread is soft with a delicate crispy outer layer, and reminded me pleasantly of unsweetened funnel cake. The cocktails are delicious and unique but still approachable (the cranberry rosewater one was my favorite).
The aromas upon watering are enough to make anyone want to eat the entire menu, and the setting in the historic house is delightful.
Food is great, albeit priced a little high for the general service and atmosphere of this restaurant. The front patio looks out on Hennepin which is loud and the indoors has a lot of unfilled potential. Probably best to do takeout from this joint
I had the Namaste special curry and it was super tasty. The aloo paratha was equally tasty and I had a wonderful night. A bit out of your way but worth the try.
Delicious vegan options! The Chiya Chili Potatoes were AMAZING!! My wife and I also tried the Chole, Jackfruit Bamboo-shoot Curry, garlic Paratha, Masala Chai, Mango Lemonade, and Carrot Creme Brulee. All food was fresh and enjoyable with generous portion sizes. I am someone who is working to build up their spice tolerance (still pretty low), and found their food to not be too spicy at all. Many dishes have options to customize the amount of spice as well.
Service was prompt and friendly. We felt welcome and cozy. Looking forward to eating here again and trying some other dishes.
Great Sev Puri. Had a flat Puri, in contrast to the round Puri which most Indian restaurants in the states endorse. Flavors were excellent and blended well. Potatoes could have used a little more boiling. The flagship fiery shrimp was delicious(not fiery though) and almost melted in the mouth. Masala chai was a little too americanized for my taste, too much cinnamon and froth. But someone else might like it, purely subjective! Would definitely go again for the main course, because the chapatis looked really good. Do visit!
Good food. Service a little slow hence 4 stars. A tad expensive but understandable considering the neighborhood. Would love to try again. Nice patio.
New style, order from your phone, not sure about how that affects service but clearly less than a high touch experience.
Food ok.
I've loved Namaste for years but haven't come here as much recently. The past few times I've eaten here, it seems the food is less flavorful. Awhile back the prices went up and it seems like the portion sizes were smaller too. Ordered today and my food was lacking flavor and salt, and the coconut chai I ordered seemed watered down, not creamy or foamy, no flavor. Too bad, I used to love eating here! I wanted to email the restaurant directly, but nowhere on the website to submit comments.
The 3 stars pain me to add. The food is still amazing and pre COVID I would have given this place 5 stars. But I am not a fan of the new way they have service post Covid. Precovid- staff came to take your order and it felt more inviting. Post Covid- It ms become seat yourself and you bring up the menu on your phone and you buy and purchase your food items online and staff comes out to bring you the food. Not a fan of this process for this type of establishment. I’d expect this at a fast food chain, but not here.
Excellent food & service! Love that they have a heat scale for how spicy to make your dish. As a Midwesterner 3 is as high as I can go so far. Still delicious flavors & fresh ingredients! Try the mango curry just add your favorite protein & pay extra for the veggies. Chef’s kiss!
Tasty, healthy food. Loved the creamy masala curry with tofu. And the ginger chai iced.
The most delicious chai ever. Friendly service and lovely seating outside.
Delicious food and great ambiance, but the prices were excessive. I ended up spending over $20 on what felt like an appetizer — very small tofu curry dish with a little bowl of rice. Definitely eating something beforehand if I come back!
My favorite place for Indian appetizers and chaat! Love the sev puri and chiya chili potatoes.
A great spot for Indian/Nepalese cuisine. Plenty of great dishes for both vegetarians and those wanting meat. The chai tea is also excellent and they have different flavors to choose from. If you're in doubt of what to order, try the recommended curry dish and you won't be disappointed.
Incredibly delicious food (with lots of vegan options) and SUPERB service. Even though orders were placed by QR code, our server took the time to explain menu items and answer questions. Outdoor patio dining was great and the food was beyond amazing. The server even came out when it started raining to set up umbrellas and try to help people stay dry. The best service we've had in the Twin Cities all year!
Courteous and attentive staff, extreme flavor, and a cozy atmosphere. Delicious vegan options to boot.
Punjab paneer, curry, great vegetarian choices, and chai. Rich mango lassi. Now offering reusable stainless steel containers ("Foreverware") - a great idea that I wish other Minneapolis restaurants would adopt.
The food was excellent. My drink was good too! I really appreciate the staff giving recommendations and being personable!
Each dish is so creative and detailed! Delicious!!!
DELICIOUS food, fast and friendly service and a very nice patio space. We enjoyed the Sev Puri, Paapri Chaat, Cauliflower, Peas & Potato Curry, and a Cardamom Pistachio Chai w/ oat milk. Everything was so fresh and flavorful and really tasted like it was made with love and care. We appreciated the plentiful vegan options. Don't leave without ordering a chai...their chai is SO GOOD. (also a plus that they use compostable cups and containers for take out) Thanks for the great lunch today - we can't wait to come back!
I always enjoy the food I get here. I like that they continue to add new items to the menu and that their vegan options are easy to find. Service is also always quick and friendly.
Great food, although, not as spicy as I am familiar with. Great location for walking The Lowey Hill District
Lovely golgappas! Lovely chai cocktails the ambience is really cozy in fall
Great place, great food! Wouldn't call it the most authentic Indian food out here but we definitely liked their fried potatoes appetizer. The aloo paratha and palak paneer were great too. Although it did seem like there was an excess amount of butter on the paratha. Their papdi chat was nice too, although I'd have liked it to be a bit more spicy and flavorful. Portion sizes were good, will definitely go again to try some of their other dishes.
Interesting Indian food. Better than most of the mediocre Indian restaurants in the cities which sells the same boring menu.
Only disappointment is this place takes 30-40mins to deliver food on every single dine in. Price is slightly on the higher side.
Sequoia was very professional and pleasant and attentive as usual. Her manner is always reliable and she makes me feel welcome, comfortable, and at home.
The food here was very good. I got the lamb curry at its spiciest level and it did not disappoint. I went during the summer months, and the outdoor patio is a very nice seating area. I love the ambiance of this restaurant. The reason I give it four stars is because of the price. It’s a little expensive to eat here. We had two entrees and one appetizer, and it came out to be around $70! So if you’re willing to splurge or have a nice date, this is the place for you!
delicious dishes, great staff, delightful cocktails. We had the spinach butter bread, and the delicate puffs you spoon the chilled broth into and eat. I'm sorry I can't remember the dishes names.. we also had the lamb filled dumplings. Everything was delicious!
Today was my first time at Namaste Cafe, and I will return! The food was superb, the staff was kind and attentive, and I loved sitting on the sweet little patio.
Went here for date night and it was a fantastic decision! The atmosphere is homey and cozy. The drink menu has some interesting options that are completely delicious. The food is the crowning cherry on top. It’s not just good, it’s an entire experience. I cannot recommend this place enough.
Very good. Great if your following a vegan, vegetarian diet (or want to eat more veggies). I had the namaste veggie curry. Super flavorful and cooked just right. Veggies weren't mushy. I love the atmosphere. Very chill and welcoming. Servers were helpful and friendly. They answered all our questions. Was a great night.
The food was delicious. Most of the Indian style restaurants I've been too are either very heavy on spice to hide bad quality ingredients or not very friendly if you can't speak the language.
Options are tasty here, full of flavor and the portions are perfect to fill you up. Highly recommend them if you are in the area.
Masala curry and mango lassi for the win! Definitely lighter fare than more traditional Indian food, which is great if you're looking for vibrant and fresh food to grab. Not to mention it's fast and easy to have a chill lunch here
The place is cool - outdoor seating and some really good South Asian food!
Great atmosphere and decorum and an entertaining playlist over the speakers. They have a large spiced chai tea selection, and a few other teas. It's not really like a tea bar where most of the menu is tea. It's definitely more of a place to get food.
Unfortunately, the two attendants in the establishment at the time did a better job of showing attention to my white friend. Which is unfortunate for them because I was the one in charge of the tipping. They also have only one restroom for a restaurant, that definitely needs air freshener for when people poop and it's too cold to open the windows.
I was pretty impressed with this place. Servers were nice and attentive, and there curries were well balanced. I'd say that there super spicy dishes are really not all that spicy. Mid-range on the heat scale to actual hot curries. Their coconut curry is definitely worth a check out.
I absolutely love this place! It’s my friend and I’s go to restaurant. She’s a vegetarian and I’m not and the menu accommodates us both! I love their Paratha, the chiya chili potatoes and the aloo tiki chaat is our FAVE.
Outstanding food and such a great date night spot. The staff always give us excrement recommendations and on occasion when we order one of their favorites they've brought out sauces they think we would like with them. They also are very great about assisting with special dietary needs and the food always comes out tasting hot and fresh. It's one of my favorite restaurants and it has such a cozy feel and such great chai you can't help but savor your drink and just relax in Namaste's peaceful ambiance.
One of my favorite restaurants. The daily lunch specials are a great way to try multiple items at once. I have never ordered something that I don't like. They have vegan, omnivore, vegetarian, and gluten free options and their homemade chai is delicious. My only negative comment is it costs $3.50 to replace white rice with brown rice. Brown rice is not expensive so a charge at all seems silly to me.
Chicken khichdi and chicken fried rice are the items we always order here. They are unique and the most delicious ever. Their masala chai is just wow!
I love this place! I've gone several times with my SO and I feel every time is better than the last. There are great vegan and vegetarian options, and the portion sizes are just big enough that you can have a really hearty meal or two smaller ones. The drinks are great (I recommend the chai russian that they have) and in the summer the patio is the place to be.
Lately, it's been hit or miss at this place. While we love Namaste and have been going there for upwards of ten years (!), the last three times we have ordered take out either they have been out of multiple key dishes at 5 pm on weekends already or they tell you at pick up that they need to sub something. No more take out for us at this place because of those hassles and makes me hesitate going there in general.
Great happy hour. While it is in uptown there is a dedicated small parking lot and street parking isn't a challenge.
Went with my friends today. The food and service were outstanding. Our waitress was very pleasant. Would love to go back. The appetizers menu were full of yummy foods, don’t forget to try their bison mamacha served with tomato sauce.
Outdoor seating is wonderful on the front porch. Had the deep dish lamb which was very good. Great service and a handy little online ordering system.
Service is good and food is decent. Drinks are very good, but a little over priced. Liked the outdoor experience.
The decor here is very charming. I absolutely love the color choices. And the patio is just fantastic. Bonus, I've learned so many great new songs from here.
The food is the best in town. I get healthy food that appeals to my ethical concerns that tastes amazing. I could eat here every day.
Every single person that has helped me here has been super awesome and kind. They've been able to answer any of my questions and provide super solid recommendations.
I love that the lunchbox is available 7 days a week. I love the variety of the food choices. Most dishes are gluten-free. The staff is always helpful and excited about the food.
The Chai is my favourite.
Great food and interesting atmosphere (a house as a restaurant and there's a nice buddha fountain for the outside seating). The price is a bit high or it'd be 5 stars. The lunch specials are cheap and amazing though if you go there for lunch.
I usually go for craft beer with my meal, which they have, but on a cold night, the wide selection of Chai drew me in. Very good. I chose coconut curry shrimp, spice level 2 with brown rice. Yum! Spice levels are 1-5, and I do like a little spice. Next time level 3. This was a cozy space. Definitely will return.
One of my absolute favorite restaurants Having dairy and gluten intolerances, I find their menu to be very friendly to my needs. Delicious foods, fair prices and good service. Setting is a small house with a front porch, which I find unique and cozy, especially when the weather is nice and you can sit outside on the porch.
I have been to Namaste Cafe twice in the last few days. It has been a longtime favorite that I love returning to and introducing people to their delicious food and great chai. So many restaurants have come and gone in that area over the last 12 years, but there's a reason Namaste Cafe has staying power.
On Saturday, a friend treated me to lunch there - we had a wonderful time hanging out and talking for a couple hours over chai tea and some appetizers. We ordered multiple cups of chai, which was fun to try a couple different flavors. (As a side note, I'd love to see a chai flight available where you could pick like 4 or 5 sample sizes to taste test). Our server read us well and could tell we just wanted to hang out and chat - I really appreciated that she didn't bother us. I could see her checking our water levels in our glasses and if we'd finished our plates as she was at nearby tables, but she was nice to mostly just let us be.
Tonight, I had dinner with my sisters there and had another wonderful experience! I haven't had the chance to have dinner with my sisters for a couple years, as one of them has been living outside the country. And it was one of our birthdays today too. The server we had tonight was excellent and read our mood quite well. We enjoyed drinks and appetizers and got a lot of food for a very good price. The $2 off appetizers and cocktails during happy hour (3pm - 6pm) is a great deal! We had two cocktails, 3 chai teas, 3 appetizers, 2 kinds of bread for about $50 and were quite full at the end! Our server was attentive without constantly asking us how we liked the food - he could tell by the way we polished off everything that we were enjoying the food!
I never feel rushed when I eat there, and love how cozy and relaxed the environment is. I like that you can just chill and hang out. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable and always give good recommendations. I tried a couple new appetizers tonight on our server's recommendation and they were both winners! Definitely recommend Namaste Cafe - you will not be disappointed!
Sososo delicious and an absolutely stunning patio!! This is one of my favorite summer spots. I just wish I could afford to go more often, but it is definitely worth the splurge.
A really cute intimate eating space with an incredibly tasty menu. The staff was really kind & on top of refilling drinks & answering questions. The mango tumeric mimosa was delicious!! I will definitely be back 💕 …
Food was definitely delicious. Spice level 3 was just right and good flavor profiles across dishes (not the same flavors). However it felt like service slow. I am chalking that off to being one off for the time being.
Cozy little place, with great staff and food. The lamb was tender, curry was savory and the herbal tea was calming. Spiciness scale is for american pallets so 3 of 5 works if you like some spice. 5 is gonna be a little mild for you Spice lovers. Definitely recommend!
I have been going to this place for few years now. I love how their food tastes so different and yet very good. Very nice customer service and staffs. I wish they had more menu selections. The serving size is small. But again, the place is cozy and they will never fail to welcome you with a smile!
I tell people all the time that this is my favorite restaurant in Minneapolis. I could eat the “coconut, tofu, mushrooms and green peas” everyday of my life. Staff happiness is important to me, and I always feel they’re having fun there. Love love love 🙏 …
NAMASTE. Don't let the outside fool you. The facade is the best part of this jewel. So much life in this establishment. The food is very good, the staff very friendly. They have a variety of different choices you can pick from, for everyone, vegetarian and vegans included.
Now you're probably wondering why I chose 4 stars if this place is all that. Well, it's not perfect. There's a considerable wait time for the food and limited seating. But, if you can get past all that, you're golden!
Best organic lunch or dinner in town;) Tons of vegan vegetarian options. Great meat dishes! I strongly suggest that you try the bison mamachas, bison curry, creamy chicken masala and if your there for lunch get the lunch box special everything made there is delicious. If you are plant based try the chole.... thank you namaste!!!!!!
Good food and nice location, though only street parking. The iced masala chai was so nice on a warm summer day. We had great service. The prices are a bit on the higher end but for the quality of the food it was ok. I would recommend the cauliflower and peas dish and the okra dish.
Literally, incredible. My go to spot for a cup of chai, some fresh, healthy organic Indian snacks that taste authentic or a warming, perfectly spiced small bowl of chickpeas (Chole) with fresh Indian breads (paratha or batura are both excellent). Highly recommend.
It’s nice to have an Southasian place that is different from other ordinary places. Multiple choices of chai. Sometimes the food is too spicy. We got takeout during the pandemic and food was amazing. I loved the lamb deep dish curry as well as the creamy masala. Really enjoyed the papri chaat and pani puri as appetizers. Would recommend for anyone that wants to have a flavorful dinner.
Great food and intense flavors - I had the chole and my wife had a masala tofu. The creme brulee was unexpectedly delicious; I would have never thought of carrots and bits of mango in that dessert. The pace of service was very slow; on another day, this would have been relaxing, but today it didn't seem intentional, just an abandonment. Perhaps short-staffed?
I loved the Vanilla nutmeg tea. Sev puri was okay, pretty bland. Papdi chaat and aloo tikki chaat rank higher in taste. Good ambience, will definitely keep going for tea.
Great place to have chai and Chaat. The outdoor seating is uncomfortable though in cold weather. Overall the ambience is really great and the food is also decent.
I'm reluctant to share a review of Namaste because I want to keep them all to myself. They serve a very accessible range of SE Asian fair and have a great happy hour. Don't order the bison dumplings because there may not be any left for me and they are my favorite dish.
I've been here three times. It's really delicious. Flavors are powerful and articulate. Prices are reasonable for Indian food. Huge selection of teas which are soothing and nourishing.
We just discovered this restaurant. I love the infusion of spices and flavors. We would certainly go back again. Delicious and very flavorful.
I love Namasté. We have been going here for years. They have a lot of Vegan options, which we love! Everywhere can always use more though. The restaurant is really homey feeling. Definitely go here. And their Ayurvedic teas are amazing!
I thought this place is really great. The atmosphere was great, the food was delicious, and the service was extremely friendly. The only down side is that the two dishes we ordered were very small. (think Chinese dish at Mandarin Kitchen or HK Noodles, but half the size). And the price was a bit more than what it should be for the portion.
All in all, I'll come back again!
Felt at home to eat rice, dal, mixed vegetables here, after so many days.
I was there with 7 of my friends and the environment was really good. Decor is excellent even though it is built on the ground floor of existing house. Staff were really helpful. Place was somewhat small due to patio being closed. Food was very good. Since, I am from the same country, I was hoping for real spicy food but the spice level was adapted to normal crowd (which is still good.). Food were delicious and I can see why people prefer to stay in line for more than half an hour. Bison MoMo wac favorite among our group. Overall, this is a really good place in a cozy location.
The Himalayan food is so good and a great outdoor patio! I love the hot and tangy lamb with the bhatura bread.
Every time I stay in Minneapolis I make a point to come to Namaste Cafe. Delicious food options that are Indian/Tibetan in nature with a very calm, cool ambiance. They have excellent cocktails as well, and the patio is perfect in the summer, right on Hennepin. Highly recommend!
Lots of vegan options and the food tastes great. They substituted fresh tofu for us in the coconut dish, and we had the eggplant, with side of okra. I would order the same thing when we go back.
We sat outside which on a summer's eve was enjoyable. I had the mango sweet/sour chicken which was very tasty. Friendly attentive waiters .
Food was fantastic, outdoor seating is great for COVID, but server staff checked on us only once the whole time and didn't tell us we needed to order online. Fun experience, we will go again :)
Namaste has an excellent lunch bowl I come back for whenever I'm in the mood for something special mid-day
ALWAYS great food here!! Will need to stop here much more often.
The food was really good, I enjoyed it quite a bit! The staff were also very friendly and more then happy to give suggestions for the remainder of our trip. We also enjoyed our alcoholic drinks but they weren't very strong.
Absolutely love it. Great service, charming atmosphere, and fantastic food! Highly recommended for a good date night in Uptown.
We love sharing two entrees (chole and palak paneer usually) along with an aloo naan and order of bhatura. Unlimited rice is a nice touch that we also really appreciate.
Different specials throughout the week, so plan accordingly!
Quaint place with good ambiance. You have got to try the Fiery Shrimp entree. It is outright amazing. The best I have had in a while. Do NOT judge Indian GolGaapa by what is served here. They are no where close to the authentic ones served in India.
Liked it but didn't love it. Lunch special was a good deal, but hot chai cooled off too quickly. Cabbage side dish and carrot brulee dessert were the highlights. I'm glad they had a coupon in the Chinook Book.
Excellent Indian-inspired food and drink selection. The old house on Hennepin that houses the restaurant is a perfect environment for individual or group dinners. Sit on the patio of possible, and go for the creamy masala and Vata tea. Namaste could improve the speed of service, however.
My favorite restaurant in Minneapolis. A handful of delicious vegan options and everything is extremely delicious. Spicy fried potato appetizer is a must! My favorite dish on the menu is the coconut spinach. Their Ayurvedic tea is awesome too!
The Mamacha dumplings are seriously to die for. I will order them every time. Creamy Masala also killer. And please when you go order one of their breads, they complete the meal, the garlic one is especially delicious! Very quaint atmosphere as well, and patio is perfect for people watching in the summer!
Very good indian food!! Great atmosphere. Recommend going in the summer when the grape vines are out. The street can get a little loud at times but overall have had really great experiences at this place
Curry's good, might not blow your mind. Maybe I'm just a sucker for a good mint chutney, but their chutney selection really makes the meal.
Wow!! I am so excited to see the huge number of vegetarian options avaialble here. I tried a variety of their vegetarian starters and they were delicious and innovative. Thank you for the huge variety of offerings!
The most amazing food i have ever had. We are vegan and they catered to us so well. I could not believe the chole was so insanely delicious that we had to go back the next day for more.
Great food!
Daily Lunch Box Special recommended!
This is our go to restaurant in the Uptown because Namaste does Nepalese like no other. My husband and I are consistently delighted by each bite of whatever we order because everything on the menue makes your toes curl.
Very delicious and yummy! the food here is a most! Vegan friendly. Be sure to order extra rice.
The Squash Curry w/ Bison was excellent, and I always pair it with an order of the Bhatura. I'm also quite partial to the mango lassi.
My only criticism is price point. For $18 it wasn't quite enough Curry to split even! But delicious for sure.
Namaste has become one of my favorite places to eat. Nice simple environment in an old house on Hennepin. Great food, vegetarian and delicious! I love coming to this place to eat and relax
Everything here is phenomenal. My favorites are the okra, namaste special curry, and the aloo boodi (eggplant). What I really gotta say is TRY THE CHAI. They have amazing options, including pistachio matcha (you'll never be the same again), and killer coconut and masala chais. Seriously, this is my favorite restaurant in Minneapolis.
One of my favorites, great Chai drinks, awesome food. Highly recommended the roti or curry lunch bowls.
Organic ingredients meets Indian food! Excellent! I love finding ethnic food restaurants that use quality, local/organic ingredients. I'm a sucker for ethnic food, but usually they use cheap, low-quality ingredients. Namaste Cafe is a cure for this problem. Love it!
$17.00 for a small bowl of Tangy Mango Curry with Tofu and rice. Quite small and not enough to sate my hunger. Tastes good and similar to the Mango Curry mix I can pick up at Little India for a 1/3 of the price.
This place is perfect!! The food is incredible, the chai drinks are delicious and the ambiance is cozy. I love the atmosphere for date night. The service is terrific too.
Good Indian food but not too heavy. The menu is a little limited but they do have lassi’s and chaats!
My favorite spot for Indian food in the city. The curries, the parathas, the samosas - all delicious! Great service and a fantastic patio make this spot a summertime favorite. Plus this is one of the only places you can find gol gappa in Minneapolis!
Great food and service. Try the kichdi for a nourishing and tasty Indian dish. Laid back atmosphere, has a coffee shop feel. Nice patio seating.
I only go here for their mango lassi, which is excellent, btw. But I'm not into any indian food.
But the lassi is divine. Fills you up and cools you off on a hot day. You haven't lived until you've had a good lassi. Life is short, drink and enjoy!
We had a really lovely time at Nanaste Cafe this evening! The staff were very nice and accommodating of our baby. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was very warm and nice!
I’ve been here three times now and each time I come in, the staff is very sweet and attentive, the food and drinks are absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere is really nice. Perfect patio spot for the summer :)
My favorite spinach paneer in town (and I've tried them all). Also make sure to treat yourself to the spicy fried potatoes appetizer.
Great atmosphere, fresh food, great staff! Cocktails were delicious and perfectly portioned. Food was amazing! Best of the best in Minneapolis!
The best variety and taste u can find in USA for real AUTHENTIC Chai (tea) and Indian street food like Papadi Chaat. Exact same taste as the streets of India, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Trust me I was born and raised in that region. Also it is a very charming cozy place. Don't be surprised to see American celebrities with Indian heritage like Dinesh D'souza there when they are in town on their book tours. Great taste of India "kiya hee baat hai - wah bhai wah". The only little downer is they don't offer Military or Police discount. A lot of cops would switch to a healthier alternative to coffee if they did.
Love Namaste, food is always amazing. Our server John was so friendly and attentive. Would definitely give more stars if I could!
Deliciously spicy foods that make you feel good. Real and tasty chai tea (not the super sweet Americanized kind). This is probably my favorite restaurant in the area. Yummy! :)
This place has great outdoor seating and a decent wine+ beer+ cocktail menu, not to mention the best south Asian food in the twin cities. Service is high quality, definitely recommend !
I continue to go back - brunch, lunch, and dinner! Love the cute house, the warm decor, and the polite and prompt service. Their roti wrap (only served lunch and brunch) is a fav!
Must go for Indian food. Delicious dishes with good options. The restaurant seating could be more comfortable, luxurious and can be tastefully decorated to have pleasant atmosphere.
It is always such a great experience Every time my partner and I come here. The food is outstanding, service is impeccable, and the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. Highly recommend!
Food was ok. We tried a couple of different things and it was all ok but nothing blew us away. I think there are other better restaurants for this type of food. The atmosphere was kind of fun though. Service was ok but nothing special.
Good flavor and good food. Prices were average, so I wouldn't say they were good value, but overall very good.
Definitely try one of the Chai Teas -- they are excellent as a starter or dessert!
The food is outstanding, and John the server was really kind and gracious and did an excellent job, even when some guest was irrationally screaming at him (the guest was out of line, and made everyone’s dining experience uncomfortable.) I highly recommend this restaurant, especially if you’re lucky enough to have John as a server!
Fantastic food. Small menu, but makes for an easy decision when it is time to order. Great atmosphere as well.
Parking is a bit of a pain, definite reward for using public transit
this place is super delicious and staff was awesome. though we were on the patio and there was a raccoon in the grape vines above. Something they probably deal with which is annoying for them I'm sure... but he was friendly enough! lol!
I have mixed opinion about this place . I thought this to be a nepalis cafe but turned out all dishes were Indian. If you are not Indian you'd like the Americanized Indian cuisine served here. If you are an Indian , you might like few things .
Can't remember when I've enjoyed such a dinner. Enticing menu that didn't disappoint....great food. Attentive service in a comfortable environment. Recommend for a lovely dining experience.
This place is awesome. The food is great and the staff are friendly. Plus there chai options are amazing. The dark chocolate mint on ice is like a milk shake.
The aesthetic of the restaurant adds a quaint charm to the surrounding neighborhood in Uptown MPLS. The food is always on point and a great spot for take-out and dine-in.
It was my first time trying indian food and it was so awesome! The best food choices were creamy curry and the one with eggplant😃 …
LOVE this place! As a vegan there are lots of choices for me as well as my non-vegan friends. Love the Coconut Spinach Curry and ALL the chai!
Pretty tasty! Ran out of a dish I ordered but what I had was fantastic. Would probably give it 4.5 stars
Excellent choices on menu for dishes as spicy as you wish! My dinner to tonight was tasty as usual. Attentive & helpful service.
Amazing food like always. I will say the customer service as nice as it always is.... is always pretty slow. I say this to help improve your business because what you serve is something very special.
Amazing food and beautiful place... never disappoints.
I was asked what spice level i wanted out of 5 and i asked for 4. I was given the 'you sure you can ahndle that?' Look by both the waitress and my friend who i went there with but alas, no hesitation. It wasnt hard at all. Next time i will prhably ask for a 6 if they can do that.
such a warm inviting atmosphere! the service during our stay was helpful, speedy, and accurate. their cocktails and curry are bomb!!
Good food. Really great, unique cocktails.
Food was very flavorful, staff was very kind
Great Chai drinks and excellent Vegan/Gluten Free/Vegetarian options. Masala Curry was delicious and the Tangy Mango Curry was so-so.
Namaste Cafe is my favorite place in Uptown! The area is changing.. wayyyyy too much. But, I'm glad to see that the best chai you can buy is still available on on Hennepin.
Love it!
Great atmosphere and food delivers. Very tasty vegan options. Really enjoyed the Chai based cocktails.
I love this place. Victorian house turned into Indian Nepali restaurant. Food is fantastic and the chai is incredible
Wonderful service but if you think that's good wait until you get your beverage and food. At times the service while nice can be a bit slow when they get busy but it is well worth the wait. The food is unique and delicious.
It was a peaceful and laid back environment. The staff were all polite and helpful. The food was delicious and not over priced. I will be going back!
Delicious food. I especially love their tuesday date night special! Great service. Chai is also delightful.
My favorite Indian food in the Twin Cities. It did take some time to get used to the portions- they always look small, but I always get filled up on tasty curry!
Hands down the best vegan/vegetarian restaurant in Minneapolis. I've been here so many times and have never had something off their menu that I didn't love.
Spicy potatoes are very good. Pain puri/Golgappa was tasty too, but $8 for 6 small puris? Very expensive place.
Incredible Chai, in many flavor combinations; delicious food; and exotic cocktails. My new favorite Happy Hour!
Amazing food! Great service, and very techy use of the QR coded menu.
Could not recommend this place more - it is authentic tasting and the perfect portion size. Not to mention it is supporting local during a pandemic!
They have a fabulous selection of house made chai, and I deeply enjoyed everything we ordered. It's a cozy and delightful spot.
Food tasted good, will visit again.
Very unique Indian menu. Ambience is nice, too. Service is top-notch.
Would recommend the Namaste Mixed Vegetables. I love that the rice is unlimited, and that they have a great drink menu!
Hope they keep their Vegan Chef challenge specials the jackfruit curry + the chiya chili potatoes, they were amazing dishes
Always delicious. Our server, Anna was awesome. Best chai, mamacha, dal, and more.
I go at least once a month here. Sometime 2 or more visits. I go just for Namacha, Aalu fry( spicy potato fry) and spinach naan.
Such a good food.
Excellent
Such great food with lots of vegetarian options. I had the Spinach Paneer and it was delicious. I will definitely be coming back!
I love this cafe... fairly small area, but the food is great and the drinks are better. Hard to find street parking sometimes, but comparatively not that bad.
It a very good restaurant. I highly recommend it. It's not a party place or a big group dinner place but a very cosy romantic place. Service is top notch.
A neighborhood gem that I frequent often. Delish curry, Paapri Chaat, and killer Chai. The Mango Lassi is off the chain!
Beautiful area and feel when you're eating here. The only reason i take a star off is pricing but even that can be looked past for a great experience with a friend/sibling to chat with here.
The atmosphere was great and the food and service was great. There was no wait time for service, it's a great place for vegetarian and vegan options!
Good Indian cusinie. Spice level 5 is really hot, 4 can work better for people who want nominal spicey food.
Awesome food! Prefer to have the servers to serve the table.
We enjoyed best tasting lunch here today.
Patrick, our server, made it even more special. We will be back!
Cozy atmosphere and lovely food. What you pay in price, you receive in quality ingredients. One of our favorite places for takeout.
Amazing goat curry! Cool vibes and great service
Definitely my favorite restaurant in Minneapolis! Best chai and Indian food, I would highly recommend to anyone!
Delicious food and great service! It does get pretty noisy inside, so with bigger groups it's tough to hear.
You need to be covid vaccinated to dine in,unvacinnated folks sits outside they have an area outside allocated for such.
Fantastic, as usual. Lunchbox special is a great deal. Love having a little bit of everything. So delicious!
Great place. This is my second time coming here and certainly won't be my last. Spice levels enough to be authentic but not overpowering.
Great outside seating and the service was attentive but not annoying. The lamb was tender and tasty.
Very good food and chai. The spice level is a bit on the milder side so I recommend upping your selection.
The food here seems to always be consistently good with ability to add the right amount of spice level. I recommend it for an Uptown regular.
Quality food with great selection. The dishes were very well balanced and great drink options as well!
Some of the best Indian food you'll find in Minneapolis. Emphasizes local and sustainable ingredients in their dishes.
Food was very good and authentic, Sharable sizes, and nice hh prices. Place has a little chaotic feeling to it!
Good food but way too expensive for the amount you get especially takeout..going to try another place and see!!
Nice place, good indian food. Only outdoor dining is available because of the pandemic.
Relaxing atmosphere, good food and excellent service. Thank you!
Great service, loved the food. I had the tangy lamb and it met my expectations plus more
Delicious, generous portions, unlimited rice, great tea. Restaurant built in what was originally a house. Very good experience
Excellent food. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean facility. I always try to find the time to visit when I am in town.
Kathmandu fried rice on the lunch menu is incredible, come here every couple months just for that dish and never disappoints.
Their chai list is amazing. I love the masala and the coconut creme- you can ask for a mixture of the two.
Great spot for east asian and indian food! Outside seating is always a plus as well.
They also deliver via Bitesquad.
Great food. Virtually nonexistent service with mobile self-ordering system.
I brought very complicated dietary needs, and the server and kitchen worked with me with patience, kindness, and professionalism to create a meal I could enjoy in good health!
Cutesy Indian restaurant in an old house. Menu is a bit limited, but everything is delicious and the staff is very courteous.
Service is a bit iffy, but the food is excellent. Authentic North Indian cuisine and good chaats.
THE BEST FOOD EVER. Could not ask for better quality or service. 10/10 coming again soon:)
The ambience is great, for big or small dining. Very personal and delicious, can't forget to get their "dumplings"...very good!
Loved our brunch! Patio seating was lovely, we were under the grape leaves!
Great South Asian food prepared with care to quality and sourcing. Good tea selections as well.
Unbelievable! Best place in Minneapolis! The owners are wonderful people as well! Everytime I visit St. Paul....I make it a must to get back there!
My pallet was doing backflips the food taste so good. Excellent service. Reasonable prices.
Fresh and delicious! We have been thankful to have Namaste as a perfect vegetarian option for out of town guests.
Great cocktails and delicious food, loved the staff too! I'll definitely be back!
Wow, this place is amazing. 1st time having Indian food, but not my girlfriend who swears by it.
Some of the best chai I've ever had! And the food is really good. Ramsalai was so delicious!!
Good food, a little expensive but very good.
Absolutely one of my go to places when I’m in Minneapolis! The food is awesome and the service is top notch!
Best Chai....Awesome curries...great services. Totally recommended. Great outside seating in summer.
I'm so glad they made it through 2020! This is my favorite spot to have a glass of wine with my roommate after work!
The best creamy curry in town. Plus their spicy fried potatoes are delicious
Delicious food and good service, great vegan options, though dishes are expensive.
Their lunch specials and chai offerings are not to be missed! Cosy, beautiful and excellent service.
Google doesnt have the option of 3.5 rating so gave 4. Good food and service. The place is bit small .
Excellent food. Wide selection of Indian food. Good service.
The food is amazing, we've been going whenever we visit Minneapolis.
The Only place i would love to go again and again . Even the food is bit pricey I loved the services vs taste. it's absolutely greats i will definitely go back again
Service was ridiculously slow but we got an entree payed for because of it, so I'll take it! Food was amazing.
Food is okay in taste. For the price, I expect a little better. Ambience and service was good.
Love the food here. Specially the punjabi spinach paneer. We go here at least once a month
Very good food. Pleasant, attentive wait staff. Definitely recommend!
Our foodie group came back for the excellent curry and cozy atmosphere. It a spot worth revisiting.
Food was great, a little pricey for the ambience, but understandable for the quality. Service was passable.
So delicious. Definitely worth Another visit!
My absolute favorite Indian restaurant. Excellent family owned business with delicious food!
Food is good, ambience is good too, however service is slow, average wait time is around 30 mins during rush hour.
Great fast service and best of all the food is AMAZING. Staff was very kind and attentive.
A lovely restaurant with amazing food. They even do event catering! Always a favorite
Really good service and food, reasonable prices too. Some outdoor seating.
Authentic Nepali cuisine. Excellent ambience. Marginally high priced.

Extremely tasty food. A nice variety on the lunch plates. I'll be back.
The food is EXCELLENT. The system to order on site does not work well at all. Very annoying
Very nice place! Very romantic and great tasting food👌🏾 …
A cozy niche for dinner or chai and spicy appetizers. This is slow food at its best.
They have several different types of chai. AND you can order them with soy milk!
Nice atmosphere & liked the food.
Amazing food and the service was excellent. I'm giving it 5 stars.
One of the best Indian restaurants in the twin cities area!
Delicious, creative, friendly staff, and a pleasant atmosphere.
Great food. Love the many many tea options and alt milks.
Good food. Terrible service, bus lady took our food order, waiter only brought check.
Knowledgeable server that was able to suggest the best item on the menu. Quality vegetarian food.
