Reviews of Murray's
Spectacular location in downtown Minneapolis. Great service. Great presentation. Great venue. I did want to speak about a few great things here which was the food was great and I feel like the portions of steak were more than adequate and all the other side dishes were more than adequate as well. So based on the food the atmosphere location I give it A+. Our waitress her name was Abby. She did an exceptional job and made the experience even better. I believe she is an asset to the restaurant. Now for the reason I gave the restaurant 4 stars versus 5. So I called the day before our reservation to inquire about changing our reservation time and the gentleman who answered the phone was less than pleasant. I thought nothing of it but when my wife walked in the door for our reservation she was talking to the host (owner we believe) was taken back by the less than enthusiastic and almost rude conversation about the vaccine requirement. We both had some conversation and determined that there would be better ways to handle conversations about vaccine requirements. My conversation was about changing our time. I felt the same not a pleasant conversation. Anyway, I'm not sure we will come back based on that, but that could be a coincidence that we both had bad conversations from the same guy. There's a lot of positives though. The food and the service was great so just giving my review and being honest.
My boyfriend brought me here for my birthday. The service was phenomenal. Greg was excellent and attentive. All staff worked well together to ensure a smooth, seamless experience. The menu could be a little more descriptive. The steak was excellent...the sides were ok at best. The birthday desert was really cute and delicious. Not sure if we'll be back, but it waa a nice place.
THE place for an old-school dining experience. A true steak house in the classic sense of the word. The Sinatra soundtrack lends an even more authentic vibe to the retro decor. White glove service begins the meal with a bread basket filled with soft pretzels and crisp garlic bread. Nice extensive wine list. The Caesar salad was cold, crisp and perfectly dressed, then topped with crunchy garlic croutons. Choice of steaks, and typical sides. Choice of potato, Mac & cheese, Brussels sprouts, spinach etc. Rice balls as an appetizer were nice. All the food was delicious. I would absolutely dine here again. All our steaks were cooked to perfection, lightly seasoned and served with a professionalism rarely seen these days. Don't miss out on dining at Murray's if you're ever in Minneapolis.
Steak doesn't get any better than this. The lobster bisque was divine as was the Roquefort wedge. The raspberry pie I had to take to go and it didn't get the photo it deserved but it was arguably one of the best slices of pie I have ever had in my 55 years. Service was outstanding. It's a little pricey but worth it in my opinion.
Some of the best service in the twin cities! Food is out of this world... Pork chop is underrated and not talked about enough.
That Raspberry pie though... Turns out you can get a whole one to pickup and enjoy at your fantasy football draft party!
Always top notch service at Murray's. We've never dined in the dining room, but the bar is always wonderful and still has happy hour. We visited on a Friday night during a snow storm so attendance was low, but would definitely recommend for a fancy cocktail and an appetizer. They also have some great specials on burgers before Twins and Timberwolves games.
The husband and I, brought the daughter and her boyfriend for a family Christmas dinner. We started with appetizers which included the steak tartare and shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were large sized and perfectly cooked. For dinner we had a couple 40 day dry aged Kansas City strip sirloin, the Ribeye, and Steak Frites along with the au gratin potatoes and Szechuan green beans. Everything was perfectly seasoned and cooked. We could not pass up dessert and we were not disappointed. We ordered the chocolate cake, tiramisu, and crème brûlée. The crème brûlée was not prepared quite the way I am used to and the top seemed to be scorched instead of caramelized, but other than that everything was excellent. We had amazing service and when we are in Minneapolis again, we will definitely go back. I highly recommend this steakhouse if you want a tasty meal in an upbeat atmosphere.
Great food, great service, good location close to theater district, Target Stadium, Target Center, and First Avenue. Upscale steak house in downtown, so it is not cheap, but it is great for special occasions or meeting at the bar after work.
The filet was cooked perfectly. The restaurant is beautiful. The Moscato the waiter picked for me was great. We were a group of 16 and the staff was amazingly patient and was great with all of their recommendations. We had the pleasure of trying a vintage port and it was sublime.
There is a reason this place has persisted in Mpls for all these years, the service is excellent and the steaks are phenomenal. Expect to pay $100+ per person, but know the steaks here are second to none.
Incredible service.. can't speak enough about the staff, our servers , our bussers .. seriously never a moment my glass was less than half full. They communicated the littlest things constantly.. the food was fantastic. Split the silver knife steak for two. . Sides were Amazing as well.. drinks were delicious and priced fairly. Honestly ... pretty damn impressed by it all
Good food and great service. Went here with a large table. Got the best greetings. We tried just about everything and all was fabulous. The kitchen was fast. The people were all very cordial. Good job from all.
I will come back. Such a random stop after a long day at the office and it was worth it. The first thing I noticed was how the restaurant has maintained it’s character but show it was kept well and at times updated. They are two areas the bar or the traditional sit down. The bar seemed more lively and the sit down was very intimate. Service was tentative and at times provided insight on the menu. The food will not disappoint. I personally chose the ribeye with the soup of the day, which was a hearty chili. Prior to the food we received complementary pretzels and super sized croutons that were very tasty. Even the beer was served with a frosty glass.
Murray's is an institution. We had and enjoyed: the Red Lake Walleye, New York Strip, the Australian Lobster Tail, and the Poblano Creamed Corn– all of which we'd unreservedly recommend. (the cream corn was a pick made out of curiosity, and i'm glad i did as it was extraordinary creamed corn) All our meals were rich and flavorful, and seasoned smartly enough to not overwhelm the spirit of the food. So flavorful that you NEED vino to cleanse your throat as much as a knife to cut the meat. I love that. The joint is somewhat crowded, but reasonably cozy and warm. And the service was great from host to server.
Unassuming class without trying too hard, exactly like a proud old supperhouse should. I'll be back once i can save enough pennies.
Murray’s steakhouse definitely did not disappoint! We tried both the Ribeye and Kansas Dry Aged Striploin and both were grilled to perfection! Crusty on the outside and pink on the inside. The decor and ambience was classy and servers are attentive. 5 stars from me!
Service was amazing and the food was pleasant. My main complaint is that the food was too salty. The burger with fries was delicious and juicy but tasted slightly salty. The steak sandwich was cooked medium rare (perfect!) but it was salty from the seasoned steak, bacon, and cheese. My fave dish was the key lime pie! Yum! Ultimately, I did enjoy my meal but I do not think I will return.
Wonderful experience and delicious food! We got the buttery steak for two, with green beans and loaded hashbrowns, plenty of food for more than two! For dessert had the Raspberry pie which was so fresh, light, and delightful!
Great steak and sides! The loaded hash browns were really good and the steak was huge! I wish I would've saved room for dessert because they looked amazing as they were walking by. They remodeled and lost some of the old school charm but the food is still really amazing. The server we had this evening was quite good as well.
My husband and I went out for dinner. We both loved the lobster 🦞 they had on the menu. We're definitely going back. The staff were super amazing.
Bottom line up front: Murray's is a steak house that can even do fish right. If we are in Minneapolis, we will be sure to go back again.

Wife and I went to Murray's on a Saturday night. Reservations are recommended, this place was packed. Nice touch: Wife left email when making reservation. Our reservation was for 7:15 but somebody must have cancelled as she got a notice asking if she wanted to move up to 6:45. We did.
We were seated about 3 minutes after we arrived. Enough time to look over the "Wall of fame" but, not being from Minneapolis, we didn't recognize anybody. Oh, well, maybe I am not as old as I think I am.
Even though this is a steak house, we wanted to try some walleye on our last night in MSP. Wife likes fish, what can I say? After looking over the menu, she chose the walleye and I went with the NY cut steak. We ordered seasonal vegetables and fries as the sides. We also had soup of the day (crab and lobster bisque) and French onion soup.
Wife ordered the Murray's special cocktail and I had my Black Russian. Both were very good. So good, in fact, I ordered a second later in the meal.
Before the meal arrived, the server brought a basket of bread. It had two pretzels (semi-big) and several pieces of what looked like garlic toast. The pretzels were great, the toast was VERY salty. We asked for another set of pretzels and got them.
The soups arrived. My wife was very pleased. The onion soup did not have the giant load of cheese on top like most places but that turned out OK. You were able to spoon it out without the long cheese string going down to the bowl. Soups were good.
Next came the entrees and sides. The steak was cooked as ordered and so was the walleye. However, neither was hot enough. It appeared that they had been on the counter a bit too long for my taste. I spoke to the server about it. I did not want to send it back (I have seen 'Road Trip') but wanted her to know about it. She immediately apologized and said that our deserts were on her. After she left, my wife said that she had never seen a server with that kind of power, usually they had to clear it with a manager. We were impressed.
The steak was very good. I was not able to finish it all (even though it looks small in the picture). I did try the walleye. Even though this is a steak place, the walleye was very good and, if you want fish, you can't go wrong with this.
The sides were also good and copious (ok, wife is hollering at me -- there was a lot of both the veggies and the fries). The veggies were zucchini and squash. They went together very well. I would order them again. The fries were hot and crispy, again just like we like them. Perhaps the entrees got done early and had to wait for the fries. If so, it was worth the wait. The fries stayed hot and crispy the whole meal.
Needless to say, we had no room for desert, but the server said she would box it for us. Wife like the looks of the chocolate cake, so we ordered that. We had my leftover steak and the cake the next day. Cake was not sweet enough for me, but the wife, from Europe, loved it. The steak was great on a plain bagel.
So, to sum up, food was very good, just not hot enough for me (OK, if it doesn't burn my gullet, it is not hot enough, but it wasn't cold). Service was excellent. Water glasses were topped up all the time. Place was full in a downtown that had so many empty storefronts, we thought it was a ghost town movie set. For the wife and I, plus cocktails, total check (excluding tip) was $171.
We would go back.
I had high hopes but this place wasn't what I expected. The steak wasn't as good as other high end steak places with $50+/person steaks. The restaurant was very nice inside and the service was great. The chocolate cake dessert was something just pulled out of a fridge. For this price point I'd expect something hot and fresh. For the money I'd go to Ruth's Chris or 801 Chophouse or one of the other steakhouses downtown next time.
Amazing place to celebrate an anniversary or birthday. We celebrated our anniversary and enjoyed an amazing steak dinner for two.
Classic, old school steak house. Our server Denny was awesome - probably been there for a long time.
If I could I would give this 4.5 stars. It was my first time trying Murrays, went for our two year anniversary. We tried the butter knife steak. The steak was delicious I'll give it that, the brussel sprouts were actually really good, and the other side was alright. We purchased a bottle of wine that was actually reasonably priced. The service was okay, just overall for spending so much you sort of expect a little more. Next time we will be trying Manny's to see how that compares.

My favorite steakhouse in town. Kaya (the manager) is fantastic. Food is delicious (try the chateaubriand for 2). The butter bread things are great. Solid place all around.
Pretty standard steakhouse experience. The Szechwan green beans were a highlight, I definitely recommend them if you're getting a side
When you go ask for Sara. She made the night great. Thank you Sara.
The ambiance to Murry was nice and had the 50's feel but with all the updates. Very comfortable.
The steaks were good. Sides were ok. The garlic toast they served was really good and went well with the meal.
Thank you for a nice night.
Murray's is our favorite steak house in Minneapolis. The staff is wonderful, thoughtful and very courteous. This visit was no different, we had a wonderful dinner with a bottle wine that was to die for. We will be back for more no doubt about it. Btw, Wayne and Greg are the best, take their advice on wine!
Update 9/6: Came in for a few drinks and dinner. Same old great place! Wayne is an absolutely wonderful manager. The bartender Jenny was great and my wife very much enjoyed her perfectly cooked fliet.

First off let me say I had a nice evening out with my wife and it was fantastic to finally get to try out the famous Murray’s I’ve heard so much about for so many years. I think my expectations may have been a bit too high based on all the stellar reviews and praise I’ve heard over the years. A very basic meal for two with parking, tips and food (no drinks) exceeded $200. Again this was a nice experience and one I don’t regret as I enjoyed a very nice evening out with my spouse and no children; However for less than $50 if you know what your doing in the kitchen you can have a meal that meets or exceeds the experience we had with the butter knife steak for two. Of course you also get to enjoy all the work, effort and clean up that goes along with making it yourself. That said I am pretty particular with my steaks and don’t normally order steaks when dining out because of this. But I was a Murray’s so of course I had to have a steak. The steak was pretty good, however if I were to return I would try a different cut, and go with my favorite T-bone or Porterhouse. Again I had heard so much about the “Butter knife steak” I had to try it; it’s not Murray’s fault I didn’t order my favorite cut.
One knock on the atmosphere was the bathroom. I was not expecting a high end establishment to have their bathroom doors look like the bathroom doors of a common pub; stained & worn. The bathroom itself looked clean but seems out of place for an establishment of such stature and a bit of a shocking contrast when compared to the backdrop of such a nice dinning area.
Service was incredible and the ribeye was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend the Raspberry Pie dessert which is LOADED with fresh raspberries. Butter Knife steak was good, but not great. If you want to be blown away, the Ribeye is definitely the steak to choose.
Literally my favorite place in the city for a special occasion or a spontaneous treat. I only eat at the bar anymore instead of making reservations. The bartenders are extraordinarily competent and friendly, and the food is beyond the usual steak restaurant
Wonderful place for a sit down meal. Enjoyed a great lunch with my work team. Service was top tier and the food was excellent. We HIGHLY recommend the Steak Sandwich!
Went for our third time tonight and as always it was the best steak we've ever had. 10oz Filets, one with the peppercorn crust + garlic jam and the other with a blue cheese crust. The brussels sprouts and the creamed corn are delicious sides and the key lime pie is a nice way to end the meal. Our server Abby was fantastic, super friendly and and provided amazing service.
Our first real dinner out since COVID and Murray's did not disappoint. Excellent drinks, steak, salmon, and key lime pie for dessert. Always great service here as well.
I haven't been to Murray's since I was a kid. The place is a little different than I remember, but the service was awesome. Anthony our server was super friendly and had great recommendations. I never order steak out at restaurants because I am VERY picky about my steak. In fact, I almost ordered the special, (pork) which sounded awesome, but went with the ribeye. I was pleasantly surprised! The steak was cooked to perfection and had a beautiful searing. I asked the server for salt (for my potato) and the hostess came by and inquired about who needed salt. As I read all the reviews that say the meat is salty, I giggled because now I know why she inquired! All I can say is save room for the pie!! We ordered 3 different desserts, creme brulee, raspberry pie (to die for) and cheesecake. Everything was delish!!
Dining at Murray’s downtown Minneapolis has been the treat of the year for our family for years! Food is delicious altho you pay for what you get, it’s worth it! In todays world you don’t find fine dining like Murray’s presents! Delicious food, exquisite decor & wonderful serving staff! Thanks to Tim & family! We love you!
We came for our anniversary dinner and had an awesome experience. Our server Dani (hopefully spelling is correct) was awesome with great suggestions. All of our drinks, apps, dinner, and dessert were top notch. We are from out of state but will gladly return and request Dani next time we are in the area!
You smell the history and the steaks cooking from the outside. One of those places that is just an old school American classic where you instantly feel comfortable as you pass the doors. Go for lunch for a filet mignon with scalloped potatoes and three martinis while Frank serenades in the background.
We go to Murray's for every anniversary and birthday and have always loved our experiences. The food is always amazing when we go. This last time we went the menu was a bit smaller than in the past (no lamb and they removed the ribeye that is for two). Im not sure if that's due to covid or not, but the food we ordered was good. I got the tournedos Oscar and my fiance got the ribeye.
Excellent service, Anthony was an attentive and engaged server. The food was some of the best to grace my plate. Thank you!
A family favorite for over forty years. Have never been disappointed. The food is outstanding as well as the serving staff. Kudos to all, Tim,Jim, and Jill as well!
Efficient, fast service for a large group with a short timeline. Everyone was satisfied with their meal choices. My beef tips with rice lunch choice was delicious. Others had a variety of steaks, salmon with potato sides of fries, au gratin.
Beautiful atmosphere! Lovely staff! Dinner was delicious and worth every penny! Great drinks and compliments to Chef/kitchen staff.
It was my husband's birthday and this was our first time at Murray's and we loved it. The valet took our car, we walked in to the desk, our coats were checked and we were seated. All very efficient as if they were waiting for us. Our waitress Danny was really nice and again very efficient. We had the chateubriand for 2 and while it is a little pricey you do get the sides included. They provided a free special birthday cake for my husband. Just a great night.
Exceptional quality, warm and inviting atmosphere! Very finest in fine dining experience. Best steak in the city by far.
Already anticipating our next visit.
Murray's is one of the great Minneapolis steakhouses. Quality, service and menu is outstanding. Valet service is available and a self-parking ramp is located next to it. It is also one level with no stairs involved.
This place is an experience and Minneapolis legend. Came here with my wife and we got the Chateaubriand for two. It was so good. Also the servers here are great, really takes the dining experience to the next level. It’s expensive, but worth it at least once!
Amazing food and service! I'm pretty sure our server's name was Joey (hoping I got that right!!) He was awesome! Top notch! We celebrated our wedding anniversary tonight and were blown away!!
Steak quality is so great and all the side dishes we ordered exceeded expectation. They have a great drink list
All I can say about this place is WOW.
We have been here before in April and had Dannielle (danny) as our server, she was phenomenal. We came back this time and requested her again on our dinner November 10, 2018.
We were accomodated as we wanted to make sure she was our server and were seated and she quickly came out to say hello - although we are unsure if she remembered us from a few months back we were not let down with her service again bringing out bread right away and suggesting their new specials.
We chose welcome drinks the pomegranate champagne vodka drink... was phenomenal, we tried it with belvedere and chopin and there is definitely a difference. Danny even told us "Cheers" which I don't hear a lot from servers these days and was a small nice touch.
Further, we started with the clam chowder soup which was a special. It was warm with great taste, but I thought it could have more clam in it. We also split the rockafeller oysters, baked with spinach.. phenomenal. We had a tough time deciding on wines and Danny was nice enough to bring out samples of a few i was interested in... so nice of her to do this. She also had great suggestions which wines to pair with our stakes. We had the filet and the waygu American style with their corn and risotto... wow.... Everything done perfect and correctly.
For dessert we had the chocolate muse which was not too sweet, phenomenal with the 20 year old port Danny suggested.
Overall it was a phenomenal experience. I almost don't want to say how good it all was so the public doesn't know our favorite server in Minneapolis! ;)
Overall I think Murrays is now my choice over Mannys.. when Manny's is able to figure out consistency in their stakes once in 15 visits (never made the same, had a raw steak once as well) they can rival Murray's steak, and they only have corn 'in-season' so I hope Murrays keeps their corn!
Overall phenomenal time, thanks to Danny for making our experience even better!
Tried a few foods I never tries before which was nice. Waiter was very nice and service was quick. I had two issues one they came to clear plates sometimes before they were empty it made me feel a little like I was being rushed out the door. I do appreciate they were trying to keep things clean but let me eat my food first. I mean it felt like we just got our food and they were already asking if they could box it up. My second issue is salt content there was some food that was extremely salty like the mashed potatoes, fries, and the garlic bread.
Our waiter was fantastic - receptionist not very friendly. Best au gratins I've ever had! Butterknife Steak for Two was amazing as well. Can't get enough of the garlic toast that melts in your mouth! We were celebrating our Anniversary and it was a wonderful!
We were visiting from Kansas City and ordered the Silver Butter Knife steak for 2 and as born and bred Kansans, this is one of the best steaks we have ever had. Highly recommend getting the blue cheese crust with it, they bring it out on a separate plate. The service is amazing. The drinks are made expertly. We finished the meal with a homemade raspberry pie that was to die for.
5 million stars for the exquisite taste of the Blue Cheese Filet, and classic chocolate cake! Service from all staff deserves another 5 million stars! Murray's in downtown Minneapolis is rated at the TOP of our list for any special occasion. If you are interested in dining here, dress up! Casual style attire will look out of place here.
I hadn't been to Murray's in at least 5 years. The quality of the food and service is still top notch! Portions on some side items were a bit smaller than I remember and the prices were higher but, all in all, a good experience.
I visited for my a 40th birthday dinner. We had a shrimp appetizer that was to die for. I had a filet mignon while my hubby had another cut which he loved. He says he likes marbling of fat in his meat. After tasting my steak he agreed the filet was amazing. The vegetables were perfect. The atmosphere was wonderful. It was more quiet than I expected which was nice. The waiter was top notch. I will definitely choose Murray's as my new steak house.
Very classy place for dressing up and going into downtown for a nice quality dinner and or celebration or special event. Of course, expect to spend some money but the bar and table seating are very nice and the staff is great.
I really enjoyed a small Cesar salad to start and the Scallops for my entree!
The service was great. The food was even better. We ate too much. Dessert was good too. Will be back for sure.
We weren't a fan of the lime basil sorbet.
Came here for our anniversary dinner. It was delicious and the service was great! We enjoyed it more (and spent less) than at Pittsburgh Blue.
We had a great time celebrating my sisters 30th here. Our server was great. We sat in the bar and enjoyed the side cars especially!
Excellent food and service. A great place for small or larger groups. I highly recommend it especially if you're celebrating a big occasion.
Had the strip and started with their stuffed mushrooms. The strip was prepared medium-rare and to absolute perfection. Wish I snapped a pic. This restaurant doesn't need any help from me legitimizing itself. It's apparently been a staple of Minneapolis since World War II ended.
I paired my strip with an incredible 2012 Bordeaux (pic below). This wine was so ready to drink, that it didn't need any time opened. Delicious, no alcohol breaking through and finished big. Murray's is a quick walk from virtually any hotel in the center of Minneapolis, making this the right steak house, in the right place
Not much to say that hasn't already been said about this Minneapolis institution. Great food, great drinks, and great staff. Make sure to bring a big appetite with you!
The best steak I've ever had hands down. Do NOT leave with out the raspberry pie no matter how full you get!
Been awhile since we have dined here, enjoyed our meal. Was not impressed with vegetable selection. Service was great.
Haven't been to lunch here. Service was exceptional. Food was amazing and, of course, creme brule!
We have been to a lot of fine dining restaurants. The food was excellent, but Ricardo MADE our experience! What an excellent server who really cared about us and our enjoyment. We loved the steaks and sides, as well as our amazing cocktails. Ricardo was amazing enough to bring us a dessert as well which we are so excited to try later! Murray's is LUCKY to have him, I would ask for him again and again!
The service at Murray’s from start to finish is excellent! Our server Greg was very helpful and thorough when it came to every aspect of the dining experience. Brussels sprouts, French onion soup, and the Silver butter knife steak were all very very good! We also got the raspberry pie for dessert which was very good as well. Very happy with Murray’s!
Been going here for years, good classic place in downtown Minneapolis. I would rate the food a 4 out of 5 stars for my most recent experience, use to be 5 out of 5 but maybe it will come back to 5 stars. The vibe is good for a date, group event, or happy hour by the bar when you walk in. Have to order the Carbonara 24 hours in advance as they took off menu. Will be back.
Solid steak at a cost, great wine selection. Not a single complaint, was nice to find where my grandparents used to regularly eat, certainly been updated since ancient photos, but in a good way. Definitely worth visiting.
The best steak in the twin cities I ever had... I could eat there all day everyday if I could 😎
Excellent, traditional steakhouse! Delightful service, quality food, great atmosphere
The steak was heavenly, the acorn squash was wonderful and the raspberry pie was sinfully delicious.
Love this place so much. My partner and I got a steak for two and it was quite the production! Very good value with the soups and sides. Best French Onion soup I've ever had and very delicious cocktails.
Lunch. Service was fine, but the food took a long time to get out of the kitchen. And he food wasn't exactly hot when it arrived. The steak sandwich is a staple - meaty, well cooked. Very crispy fries (that's a good thing).
Disappointing. Potato tasted day old. The Onion soup tasted burnt. The little bread things they gave you were way too salty and cheap. The steaks were perfect however. The the staff are top notch and delightful.
But when you pay the highest price in Minnesota for a steak you expect everything to be at least good. Very disappointing.
You can't get a better steak in Minneapolis. The silverbutterknife special is best value. Includes sides, and can really feed three easily. You can't go wrong if you're looking for a high end dining experience. Honestly, there's no place better in the Twin Cities.
First time there. We had a work function the food was really good. The steaks are a really good size.
Love the atmosphere, top notch service and steak was great
Words cannot describe; but I will try. Believe the hype when you hear about their 28 oz Silver Butter Knife Strip Sirloin - It is awesome! It is worth the trip to S. 6th Street; and definitely worth the price. ¡Bon Appetite!
Very nice atmosphere very good food. Butter steak is excellent. Little on the expensive side.
Been here before the food is excellent, wish they had other locations. But if you want a good meal, good service, and good atmosphere this is definitely a top choice for downtown Minneapolis
Great happy hour from 4-7pm! I can warmly recommend "Mini Pastrami" on their list - it's awesome. Prices are really reasonable for what you get. Much recommended!
A fantastic dining experience! The steaks were incredible, tender and were as easy to slice as butter. Our server, Dennis, was amazing and very attentive. Very highly recommend!
Mainly geared toward steak, not a fan of red meat. However, had other options, the salmon was delicious. It was nice to "calm down" and enjoy dinner. Be aware dinner took 2+ hours so not like your typical restaurant where you are in or out. It is an experience. Bit on the pricey side but service and food were great.
Ill start out with saying that I had a good time at Murray's but was left slightly underwhelmed. Atmosphere and experience was overall good however I did feel that the food did not live up to pretty much anything else about the service. The place has a great aesthetic and vibe, the wait staff were equally as great, the only thing that was just ok was the food. The steak I got was flavorful on the very outside but quickly became very bland towards the inside. For a steakhouse that prides itself with steaks of no less than 28 days of aging, it really did not come through. Again overall good time but hopefully next time I go will be better.
The peppercorn NT strip was DIVINE. Everything, from our waiter to the food, was pleasant. I also enjoyed the crab cake. I think this is my first time going out to eat and not actually taking a picture of the dish
This restaurant is classic and never disappoints. Amazing food, great service and a wonderful atmosphere!!
We were group of 8. Dylan our server was amazing. Knowledgeable, attentive and very enjoyable. Chef Dan, was extremely talented with his dishes. We had so many wonderful starter dishes, side dishes, different cuts of meat and seafood and they all delivered. The desserts first shared by all and disappeared quick. Thank you for a beautiful evening.
I've driven by this place plenty of times and never considered stopping in. Went in for date night and didn't regret it one bit. The steaks were incredible and our server was on point the whole night. I have anxiety and it can be hard for me to even ask for more things even at a restaurant that I'm paying for and she was so easy to talk to that I didn't feel uncomfortable or anxious at all. Definitely consider going here if you need a special night with your loved one.
Simply the best. My family has be coming to Murray's Steakhouse for 60-years. Wonderful ambiance and great service. It's wonderful to see the Murray family still closely involved. I have dined at and appreciate Morton's and Capital Grille, but it's refreshing to be able to support a local, family run operation. My wife and I got engaged at Murray's. That's the kind of special place that it is.
As for food, the Silver Butter Knife is all I've ever had for meat. I've tried many of the sides and they're all delicious. Just make sure you don't overdose on garlic toast first!
Best steaks in Minneapolis! Family owned business owned by a great family 👍
I Tried the porterhouse....best steak I've head in my life!!
Also tried the $80 lobster tail, I haven't really had lobster much in my life and it was very good, Salty, but good. We shared most of the Ala cart sides also everything was good.
Outstanding, as usual. The Silver Butter Knife steak for 2 was delicious, as was the accompaniments — the salads, potatoes. The toasted crisps were unique and plentiful. The food is enough for at least 2 dinners for 2. As such, the price is an exceptional value. Service from Amy was attentive, friendly, and professional. Amy even brought us a little cake (and candle) to help celebrate our anniversary. THIS IS THE BEST STEAK PLACE ANYWHERE. We have enjoyed this reliable Minneapolis institution for over 35 years. We will definitely be back!
Great steaks. The scallops we're good also. Make sure to try the ran cakes.
Outstanding food and service. Fair and reasonable pricing.
The filet with truffle butter was one of the best steaks I have ever had hands down. The decorations we lovely and the service was stellar.
Best chateaubriand I've ever had. The sides were perfect. Service is perfect.
I’ve been away too long. Had a drink while making a take out order. Great service! Food was perfect. Support downtown institutions!
Thanks for making our 11year anniversary an amazing one
Greg. We loved your attentiveness from beginning to end.
Murray's is an old established restaurant that's been a top steakhouse in the twin cities for decades. The service is excellent and the food is good. They are known for their silver butter knife steak and their garlic toast. We go there for special occasions only. This is because it is very expensive. Expect to pay a lot if you go. But if you want a nice place and a good steak, go there.
They lived up to their reputation! The butter knife steak, seasoned & severed perfectly. We had acorn squash, I don't know what I like best. Ever the cocktails were spot on. We went before a Viking game... to perfect
I started with the crab cakes, they were divine. The chunks of blue crab meat were perfectly proportioned. The lobster bisque was out of this world, warm, well balanced with acidity and creaminess. The sides are larger than I expected but still tasty. Green beans were crisp and saucy. The seasonal veg was acorn squash with sage and a sweet touch of mapel-y brown sugar notes, fabulous. The special was a beautifully aged bone in filet, I added the aged butter. This piece of meat was tender cooked to my liking(medium rare) and bursting with incredible flavor, the closer to the bone the more it filled my taste buds with euphoria. Finally, ended it with a perfectly caramelized vanilla creme Brule. All together the experience was delicious. The service was impeccably impressive. Loved it and i definitely will return. Bravo!
Very cozy and well ran restaurant. Food quality is good and price fair
Typical busy high end restaurant in downtown Minneapolis. You have to flag your waitress down for service and for their price, their plating is terrible. If I'm paying for a 80 dollar meal, best believe I'm expecting decor on my plate. Overall, still good customer service.
Good old school steak house. First time going there but I can see me going back next time I am in Minneapolis
Came for my husband birthday. Loved our meal and the raspberry pie!
Omg! The butter knife steak special is worth every penny. This is a restaurant you should try.
Other than the lack of bread… this is the kind of place you can come to, expect, and get a great meal. A little pricey, but I was able to order a full meal with 8oz steak under $40. On top of the great food, our service was impeccable!
We were in town for a football and wanted a great dinner to end the vacation and Murray's did not let us down. Our waitress was able to answer our questions about the items on the menu and helped out on what to order. Enjoyed the atmosphere as well. The food was delicious and worth the price.
We celebrated our 30 year wedding anniversary! We arrived before they opened and the valet kindly asked if we could go in early and we got to sit at the bar. After we sat at the bar, we got seated very quickly. We originally sat at a 2 person table in the back of the restaurant but Dennis (our wonderful server) had us sit at a 4 person table. Dennis was masked, courteous, attentive, social distanced and a very gracious server. The food was the BEST in the city! We will be going back!!!
Excellent experience. We arrived late but they held our reservation on a busy Saturday night. Our waitress Alyssa was terrific, answering questions and providing attentive service. The meal and drinks were superb. Stuffed mushrooms appetizer was delicious. My peppercorn strip sirloin was done as requested. The topping enhanced the flavor without dominating. My wife loved her Tournedos Oscar. We had seasonal vegetable and mushroom sides. Cocktails, dessert, coffee and tea rounded out the meal. Empty plates were cleared and water glasses filled promptly.
First time here for us. Start to finish, complete perfection. Tony, our server, provided great service, and a good conversation. Clam Chowder soup was an amazing start, and the tenderloin dinner, called "Touranado" covered all the bases. added a 6 oz lobster tail and I could not have prepared it better myself. Wonderful experience. Thank you Murray's for the outstanding anniversary experience..
Came here with high expectations. Was sadly disappointed in the dishes. At the prices you're paying, one would expect to be a little blown away. Nothing was particularly bad, just very mediocre at best. Wasn't a fan of the hard crunchy garlic bread or the bland pretzel bread. One would think it would be more of a signature fresh type of bread. Servers were great. The food just wasn't up to par.
Hadn't been there in over a decade, but wow! Still fantastic and I will have dreams of their crunchy, buttery, salty crostinis! The butter knife steak is just as delicious as I recalled which is quite a feat! I will be back, again!
Birthday dinner on a Friday night. Food was good yet service was subpar. Started I ordered an iced tea and had to hear we just opened, not ready. Waiter forgot we ordered appetizers and had to come back and ask. Asked for a box for our food and we packed our own. Thought to myself Olive Garden boxes for you so that was a miss. Never checked during dinner if we needed anything. Had to ask for another tea. The bus ladies were more attentive. Just overall a few beats off and for a dinner for four with alcohol and dessert for $450 plus tip the service should have been the A team, not the third string. Overall, disappointed.
Best steak we've ever had.
One of my favorite restaurants! I try to go there every time I am in town!
Amazing top notch service, I recently ate some of their truffle fries and they put the perfect amount of seasoning on them along with some delicious béarnaise sauce on the side, cant go wrong with that. The owners and staff are very kind/hardworking and I have heard really good things about the butter knife steak from many customers, I will definitely give it a try some day.
We had a great dinner. The wine selection is pretty neat. The food was amazing, and the service excellent. All in all a great place!
Without doubt the best restaurant in the twin cities. The level of service and the quality of the food will make you glad you visited Murray's.
Ribeye melts in your mouth! Appetizers we're just as great! Fantastic meal!
I had a good meal at Murray’s but was able to hit up multiple steak houses in a single week and although Murray’s is good, Manny’s, up the street, was much better and had slightly better price points.
Five generations at the table. Celebrating the Matriarch's 90th birthday. What way to celebrate but at Murray's, the best steak EVER. Thank you Murray's for great evening.
Good food excellent service good prices., it is an excellent option for downtown Minneapolis.
Wither you're slipping in for a quick lunch and sitting down for a fancy dinner, you can expect great service and great food. Sometimes we just grab a snack and munch on the garlic toast in the bar.
One of the best dining experiences I've had. The staff were so attentive and personable. Probably the best steak I've had in my life, as well. The wine selection is amazing. I came here with family from out of town and they had actually heard of the restaurant and were so excited to dine here. Truly superb. The menu was beautifully done, everyone's meals were prepared to perfection, and I can't stress how amazing the service was.
Murray’s is one of those places you drive by a lot but don’t get the chance to go to very often. Let’s just say when I finally went, it did not disappoint. Our server, Dennis, was amazing and had worked there for over twenty years. He has so much information on the establishment and it was so interesting! The experience was exactly as you’d imagine too; the finest dining experience. What an amazing and fun experience. We had the Butter Knife Steak, au gratin potatoes, and cesar salad with old fashions and a key lime pie! Someday we will be back again.
Check your bank account before you go. 😉 Wonderful gracious dining experience with superb food. Murray's is the kind of place young ladies used to dream that their dates would take them. Decor & atmosphere are elegantly modern & retro at the same time. Truly a lovely experience. …
Hands down the best steak I've ever eaten, the Filet was like cutting butter. I will be back!!!!
This place isnt cheap but they lived up to their lofty reputation. The food was superb as was the service.
My wife and I treat ourselves to dinner here because we are always treated as if we are royalty! We have never had a bad experience there!!! They are the top rung on the ladder!!
Hands down best steakhouse I've been too. Mannys may have the "name" but there steaks done touch murrys.
Just got takeout from here for a birthday and it was amazing! We got the chateaubriand med rare for 2 with asparagus & a baked potato, plus the crab cakes. All the food was delicious and still warm by the time we got home. The steak was done perfectly, so tender and flavorful. We were a little worried about getting take out steak but I would recommend it!
I’ve been here in person in the past too. Their happy hour is amazing with great deals on good wine and sliders (steak and crab!). Service is always friendly. I would also recommend the butterknife steak for two, everything here is mouthwatering!
Murray's take out is just the best. The portions are great, and the flavor of the salads, steaks and desserts are amazingly delicious. Well worth the trip to pick up a dinner on the go. I ordered on the phone, and the hostess took good care to make recommendations and checked accuracy.
Service was excellent, food was fantastic. Tenderloin medallions and bone-in filet just melted in the mouth, and the Thai chili glazed brussels sprouts were awesome.
Nice classic atmosphere, friendly staff - overall a great place to celebrate our anniversary.
Stopped in for lunch just due to not having a reservation for dinner. Totally glad we did.
Great beer and cocktail selection.
Amazing strip with brussel sprouts. Very buttery finish. Perfectly medium and tender. One of the best, juiciest strips I've ever had.
Wife really wanted a burger and very much enjoyed it. Asparagus was great as well
Desserts looked amazing but we didn't have the room.
Bar area is very deco and cozy.
Bartender was a sweetheart
If I get back to Minneapolis, I'm going back to Murray's
Fantastic steaks as usual! We were well taken care of. Our server was excellent, anticipating our every need. She was assisted by Frank, a phenomenal 23 year Murray's veteran, who is very efficient, knows his stuff and is a delight while taking care of us. He adds a lot to the experience. A true Murray's treasure! We highly recommend Murray's!!
Didn't have reservations and sat in the bar area with full menu. Service started slow, but once the table was welcomed, the service was excellent.
Steaks were delicious, as expected. Side dishes were beyond delicious - spicy creamed corn, asparagus and onion strings.
The blueberry bread pudding and small cake was amazing, the lemon pie was marginal, just not tart enough - very bland.
Eat here, you will be happy - just don't get the lemon pie.
The butter knife steak is always amazing. Cut at the table and as thick as you want. Wait staff was excellent as usual.
Had drinks and happy hour in the bar. Really decent deals. The burger was ground up steak, so it was really flavorful and juicy. Fries were decent, too. Happy hour drinks aren't overly generous pours, but it's a classy place so they aren't trying to get you hammered. Definitely on my list of quality happy hours.
This is the absolute best steak, not just in Minneapolis, but in the country. I've tried many of the others that claim to compete, and they are just a shadow of this place. From the first bite of garlic toast to their amazing desserts, everything here is perfect.
WOW, Amazing food. The staff is extremely professional and talented. This is by far the Restaurant in the nation. The bread basket alone was unbelievably so good. The steaks are by far the absolute best you can get. Butter knife special yummmm! If you have not been here, go try it immediately.
Just found out that there is now on-line ordering with curbside service and am I ever glad I did!
I placed my order on-line for a set time and drove over from St. Paul for pick-up. A Murray's employee literally saw me coming because she was looking for Murray's guests. She immediately checked on my order and my food was promptly brought to my car.
I drove home and my entree was still plenty warm, my wine and dessert were still plenty chilled, and everything was incredibly delicious. I was able to get not only my main course, but dessert, and wine for a VERY reasonable price.
What a GREAT experience! I'll drive back again!!
Steak that slices like butter and melts in your mouth for a next level culinary experience. The Crab cakes make an excellent addition too.
Just a 5 star experience. Food was phenomenal. Service was the best we can remember having. You couldn’t be any better at your job Anthony (Vinny), thank you so much.
I really enjoyed dining at this establishment! I recommend highly!
Shared the Butter Knife Steak. It was incredible. Cocktails were carefully crafted and delicious. Dessert menu was great. Beautiful decor and interesting history.
There were 4 of us dining and we shared a couple bottles of wine, several appetizers and sides, and split entrees. Super yummy and incredible service♥️
Exceptional experience in dining, consistently over two decades! Non-pretentious staff who know their business and do it very well! Yes, we mostly reserve dinners at Murray’s for special occasions, but we have also stopped by the bar area for an impromptu gathering, followed by an excellent meal. Always delighted as we depart with big smiles!
Murray's never disappoints and for a Catholic observing no meat on Friday during Lent, it was great to have a Fish & Chip special. Perfectly done, beautiful tartar sauce. And the chips were battered and salted perfectly. My guests loved the Caesar with salmon, and the service was effortless and attentive. A great lunch place, as always.
The flamboyant Murray's display disguises the sophistication of ambience behind the entrance doors. You will be greeted with a warm and gracious welcome by a lovely face waiting to seat you. I suggest the Tournedos Oscar: two beef medallions sublimely prepared, which comes with a flavorful crab cake that you won't find anywhere else. The star of this meal is garnished with a bundle of fresh, thin stalks of perfectly cooked asparagus and a béarnaise sauce that will make you happy you're alive. Well done!
The steak was delicious we ordered a ribeye, medium rare, cooked to perfection. Would have given 5 stars based on the steak but the appetizers and desserts don’t quite make the cut at Murrays. We have tried the crab cakes, the lobster for appetizer and multiple desserts, my advice is to go there have a good time enjoying the drinks and the steak but dont go near the appetizers and desserts
Spectacular pre-concert dinner
We booked Murray's through open table based upon the reviews on open table and were were blown away by the quality of the food and the service. This is one of the best steak dinners my spouse and I may have ever had.
Service was impeccable and Anthony, our server was wonderful. He was quite relieved to hear that despite the fact we were attending a concert at Target Field, we were in no hurry. I recommend that you not rush through your dinner at this fine dining establishment so that you can truly enjoy and savor not only the wonderful meal offerings, but the service as well.
Our steaks were flavorful, tender, and prepared perfectly. the accompanying sides were executed as perfectly as the steaks and not just an afterthought as at many places. Everything from the shrimp cocktail to the garlic toast was excellent.
We will make it a point to return!
We started a birthday tradition at Murray's after relocating 3 years ago. Cocktails amazing! Service stellar! Food consistently exceptional! Great side dishes for vegetarians. Seafood excellent. Look forward to birthday celebration 2020! Thank you!
We went tonight for my father's birthday. We had a very nice booth fit for royalty. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I had the tournedos Oscar which was amazing, my steak was perfectly prepared. I asked to try the house steak sauce however my steak didn't need it. Our server Abby was attentive and very nice, she made an already awesome meal even more enjoyable. Thanks for the hospitality. We will be back!
Excellent steak in a very cozy environment settings! Whether you vent out for a Great milestone anniversaries and celebrations, or just to fill up with pure protein for a once in a while experience, highly recommend!
Wow, don't know where to start. Great service, wounderful food, very cool building! Staff was awesome, never had to ask for water. 5 stars for sure!
Great food. Great service, even at late hours.
A great night out with some friends. Steaks were all fantastic. Our table enjoyed the Silver Butter Knife sirloin, the dry aged Kansas City strip and the ribeye. All done perfectly to the temperature ordered. The aged steak butter as a dipping sauce just added to the wonderful flavors of the meat. Special requests for low carbers were met without hesitation or problem. The crouton was left out of the french onion soup and the blue cheese topper sauce was made with a roux, and so they brought a side of blue cheese crumbles to the table instead.
Beautiful holiday decorations. Our server was Dylan. He was warm, friendly, engaging, funny and professional. His suggestions were excellent (the sidecar cocktail and raspberry pie, to die for!) and willing to work with our requests. Hats off to head chef Ryan! Our steaks were prepared to perfection. Every staff member we encountered was welcoming. The whole evening from start to finish was superb! Would highly recommend many times over. Thank you, Murray's for a memorable evening.
Great as always! Got wasted and ate steak. If you can, sit in the bar area. Much better atmosphere for a younger crowd. Marsha and John in the dining room like it very quiet.
Steaks cooked to perfection. Amazing service. We had our daughter with and the server took extra time with her to make her feel special. I can't say enough good things about Murray's and we'll definitely be back.
Our son took us here as a thank you gift. It was fantastic. This was our first visit and it will not be our last. The food and service was exceptional. Although on the higher end of the cost range it was a great value for the high quality of food. We had their filet of beef and it was the best steak I have ever had in over 55 years. Perfectly cook and lightly seasoned and delicious. For those special dinners and beef is the goal, then I highly recommended Murrays.
We had a fabulous experience celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary. The food was tremendous, we had the Silver Butter Knife steak. Our server, Ricardo helped make our night special with his impeccable service.
I have been enjoying the hospitality and great food at “Tim’s House”, Murray’s, all my life. I have NEVER had a bad meal. I have NEVER had bad service. I have NEVER left disappointed. Even now, with all that’s going on, I am about to make reservations to eat there soon. We must not lose this local treasure by letting it become a statistic. I’m going to do all I can to support them and I hope others will too!

Our server Caitlin was AMAZING! Food was excellent. One of the best dining experiences we've ever had.
The food was absolutely top-notch. The atmosphere is very old style and unique at the same time. The wait staff did an incredible job of timing our food. The evening was absolutely comfortable and full of great conversation paired with second to none pork chops and raspberry pie.
Can't beat the atmosphere, and the steaks were superb. Sides were lacking for the price - veggie side was small in size and potatoes weren't seasoned enough. The raspberry pie is the best I've had- it's not too sweet and the berries are super fresh and stacked high!
Best steakhouse in town. The peppercorn strip is to die for. Wife had the 40 day dry aged bone in strip and that was terrific. Good cocktails. Our server Dennis was very attentive and helpful. Definitely coming back for more :-)
Have never had a bad meal or bad experience at Murray's. The wait staff is knowledgeable and knows how to give great service. The silver butter knife steak is terrific and my personal favorite the Chateaubriand is the best. I also love the au gratin potatoes. The bar serves the best drinks. I'm not a big drinker but have enjoyed many first time trys from the bar over the years. Murray's is definitely the go to place for the best steaks in town . Oh, if you're not too full after the meal try dessert you can't go wrong there either.
I took my husband to Murray's for his birthday. We had a reservation at 5pm and were seated right away. They started us with a variety of breads, the garlic toast was delicious. The butter balls were a little hard so didn't spread well. We ordered the Silver Butter steak for two (med rare). It was cooked perfectly and it was one of the best steaks I've ever had as far as flavor goes. The waitress brought my husband a pc of cake with a candle for his birthday. It was the classic chocolate cake and it was delicious, not too sweet either! I highly recommend Murray's.
The Silver Butter Knife 28oz strip sirloin for two was the best steak I have ever had. The sides are the only reason I did not rate the food excellent, The sides were mediocre and not much to write home about. I expected better for such a nice restaurant. The service and presentation were excellent. My water glass was regularly topped off and the atmosphere was enjoyable. Luis R was our waiter and he did an outstanding job on the service and presentation of our strip sirloin. He cut and served the steak table side and was the perfect combination of personable and professional.
I would hesitate to highly recommend this restaurant to others because of the unimpressive bread basket and sides. However, if you're going just for the steak it is definitely worth it!
Murray's is always our go-to for an incredible steak. We order the silver butter knife steak for two and are never disappointed. Ricardo was our waiter and made our evening even more incredible. Murray's does not disappoint for food, ambience, and customer service.
Susie was a kind waitress. Groovy atmosphere. The filet was incredible. The crab cakes phenomenal. The stuffed mushrooms were AMAZING.
Happy hour steak slider was great. Truffle fries are usually a disappointment but theirs were pretty good. Service was prompt, attentive, but and handled our complex group orders really well.
Our Server, Juana, did a great job! She suggested a wonderful bottle of red wine and dessert after dinner. My lamb chops were perfectly done, and my beau's steak was easy to cut and practically melted in his mouth like butter. To top it off, we were encouraged to come back, especially since we were celebrating our 4yrs anniversary of dating, that Murray's be considered our place for a traditional Annuversary visit. Thank You Juana for making our night especially Special!
I lived in Minneapolis for 20 years and have never gone to Murray's. Big mistake...my steak was delicious. Service was incredible. I highly recommend!
Love Murray's always have. Great steaks and service. Like the old style feel. My wife asked why I brought her here, she felt it was on the stuffy side, and said steak better be the best. After one bite she understood, said best steak ever.
Was here for my little brothers Wedding dinner. About 20 or so. Got in right on time. As always they have the nicest wait staff and the Food was superb as always. Everyone was constantly checking on us and making sure we were hydrated at all times and if we needed anything they were there to help. Its on the upper side for menu pricing but believe me when your plate comes you'll know why. Great portions especially the silver butter knife steak. HUGE. Porterhouse TOPNOTCH & Huge. Etc. A must see place,#TheBucketListMurray's
Wonderful service, comfortable atmosphere. The steak, of course, is fabulous. They also have great scallops and other fish items, also very tasty salads. The servers make you feel like a regular.
Very expensive but both times I've been to Murray's, it's been the best steak I've ever had. Tonight, I had the blue cheese crusted filet and I can't recommend it enough. The cocktail menu is also exceptional. The wait staff has been fantastic both times I've been here. They really treat you like you're important and offer great service.
Great food and service, they have a very good happy hour! We will be going back.
Exceptional dining experience. Everything from the food to the service was impeccable. They did my food exactly as I wanted it. The staff were very courteous and professional. The bar was also great. Murray's will always be a great place to eat out with either your co-workers, friends, or family! Highly recommended for everyone out there
Went here later in the evening for a quick bite. I had heard great things so I was excited to try it out (and had pretty high expectations).
The food and service far exceeded my expectations. The escargot was more earthy and flavorful than those I've had in the past. It was a nice reminder of what you're actually eating instead of just tasting like butter and garlic.
The grass-fed striploin was deeply beefy as expected, but was significantly more tender and juicy than I had thought possible.
While the meal wasn't cheap, it was well worth it.
I have been going to this restaurant for 10 years now they never disappoint. The quality of the food prepared is magnificent. The decor, servers, bartenders, even valet are all always happy and helpful. This is one of my top ten favorite places to eat in Minnesota.
Murrays is the best steakhouse in the twin cities and they really take care of you. The service is always top notch and the steaks are just as good. One recommendation is to order some of their beef jerky. It isn't on the dinner menu but it is delicious and a great appetizer or something you can order to go.
Perfectly prepared steak with finely paired sides. It was a great atmosphere and well worth it. Shane was a phenomenal server...knowledgeable about the menu and very personable. A family-owned and operated gem. A must-visit.
Coming from a Canadian background where the service standard is very high, I must say that the service here was amazing.
The escargot was my favorite dish. The butter knife steak is incredible but the portion is a little large for two people.
Down the block from the Westin, we walked for lunch. You can make a quick reservation from this app. I had the luncheon 6 oz sirloin which was great! The French onion soup was the best I ever had. The meat loaf is phenomenal. We tried the pastrami and did not like it but our waitress was great and didn’t mind we sent it back. We will be back! Thank you for your excellent service!
Butter knife steak never let's you down!!!
Great Thursday night out! Traditional and classic steakhouse with great cocktails, perfect steaks and sides. Our server Joey was terrific. Always love Murray's.
The steak was very good and perfectly cooked, and we had wonderful service. The mixed drink I ordered was far from worth the cost as compared to other cocktails in minneapolis. Also the appetizer options were pretty much all fish related.
You can't put a price on experience. Murray's, without doubt, has the best steaks Minneapolis has to offer - YOU WILL NOT FIND BETTER! That said, i strongly recommend all patrons later check their credit card \ bank statements if paying with plastic. My tip amount, despite being 20%, was amended during the nightly tally. I was refunded the difference after raising it to management although i receieved no real apology (very odd)... Mistakes happen, just be cautious.
Excellent, Excellent, Excellent
My wife and I had dinner here before going to see A Christmas Carol at the Guthrie on Dec 1. The service was fantastic. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. Our server, Nate, was very knowledgeable and guided us to some superb choices. Have to have the hickory smoked shrimp as an app!! My wife ordered the filet and I ordered the ribeye. Both steaks were cooked perfectly. This was our first visit to Murray's but won't be our last. Highly recommend for any occasion.
Great 'classic' steak place. During Covid 19 they have a more limited menu, but everything was delicious. Crab cakes were amazing, Cesar salad was nothing special, steak was melt in mouth
Last night was our first time at Murray's - it did not disappoint! Everything was delicious, we ordered a filet mignon, a porterhouse and loaded potatoes. The atmosphere of the restaurant was great too, dim lighting, beautiful "vintage" dining room and wonderful staff. We hope to come back soon! I highly recommend Murray's to anyone wanting a "dress up" kinda date night!
Always an anniversary treat eating at Murray's. So nice to be able to come back this year after having to skip it last year due to Covid. Wonderful food, wonderful service.
Steak was amazing but the mashed potatoes were the saddest I’ve ever had. Instant potatoes are better…
You won't regret ordering the butter knife steak. The steak tartare is excellent too.
Best steakhouse in Minneapolis in my opinion. Not a bad value for this high quality a place either, especially if you order the meals for two. Best garlic bread around! This is an old school steakhouse with modern greatness. Recommend highly!
We were told that Murry's was the place to go for the perfect steak when we were visiting Minneapolis. The place is very nice with lots of history on display. We ordered the Silver Butterknife Steak for two. Priced at $105, the cost wasn't an issue. We ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp for an app.... They were very tasty. The sides we chose were the scalloped potatoes and the Asian green beans. Both sides were very good, although the potatoes came in a very small bowl, maybe enough for one person but way to small for two adults to share.
Now for the steak.... We ordered it rare and that's how it was cooked. The flavor was good but it certainly wasn't the "best" steak I've ever had. It was also tender but again it wasn't the most tender steak I've ever had. To be honest, I've had comparable steaks at Texas Roadhouse for less than 1/3 of the price(per person). Now here is my biggest issue.... And it may seem petty. The steak is delivered to the table whole and is carved by your server. Now the steak is in the shape of a loin, meaning it's sort of a rectangle.... Not a flat steak. Our server completely hacked the steak into 12 pieces. Not one of the cuts were even, or anywheres near the same size as the others. I literally had to look away while she was destroying the cut of meat before our eyes. Now, did this really effect the taste or texture of the steak.... Probably not at all. But here is a place that hangs their hat on being a great steakhouse, yet this is what sticks in my mind about our experience. Our server told us that they had been working there for almost a year. I did say something to our server about their cutting technique .... I don't believe it was welcome criticism. And yes, I recall their name but don't care to post it. I'm glad we went but I would not go back if I ever visit Minneapolis again.
Because of the poor table service and attitude of the waiter, I was considering giving three stars. But I couldn’t because it wouldn’t be fair to the quality of the food and cocktails.
Pros
The specialty Cherrywood Sazeracs ($25) were delicious and, yes, a bit pricy—and worth it. The steak flight for two (ribeye/NY strip/filet) was fun to share with my son. Perfectly prepared medium rare. And the lobster tail was a nice extra.
Cons
The waiter. Lack of attentiveness and listening: served soup rather than the salad ordered, kept forgetting sparkling water, and his demeanor was just a bit off putting. My wife thought our table wasn’t a priority for him.
Meh
Asparagus spears were adequate. Nothing special. The pork loin was cooked fine but lacked seasoning or a distinctive flavor.
We love steakhouses and supper clubs, and for our first time to Murray’s we decided to take our son on his 14th birthday. If you’re searching for a premium all-around experience, I’d steer you to Manny’s or Gianni’s or Mancini’s rather than here. The waiter was just that poor.
The best steak sandwich you will ever have at lunch... If you are there for dinner you do yourself a disservice if you have not tried the Butter knife steak.
Enough good cannot be said about Murray's. I have yet to understand why anyone goes to Manny's with Murray's as an available choice. Not that Manny's is bad (it is quite good) but Murray's is a step above in flavor, quality, class, and service. I have tried both, and if Murray's is open, I cannot see a reason to go elsewhere for my future steak needs in Minneapolis.
Pepper crusted steak 🥩 is amazing. Ask for Luke the server. …
Wow. Incredible atmosphere, food and service. It’s all about the toast! You won’t be able to stop eating it! Friendly and attentive service, steak was just perfect and desserts were excellent. This is a place you must visit while here.
This is a review of Happy Hour and game day specials. Part of me doesn't want to share what a gem this spot is. The bar (unlike the dining room) has a "come as you are" vibe on game days! You will not believe the special they run on game says - steak burger + fries + beer all for $12. It has to rival the best deals downtown
Phenomenal meal! We ordered the Ribeye and Porkchop. Both were cooked to perfection! Service was great. Portions are fantastic (They do not skimp you). We will definitely be returning! Highest recommendation possible!
Excellent! Had the butter knife for two and it was perfectly prepared. The sides were good portions... loved the mac n cheese!!
Btw, get the raspberry pie!!
Truly brilliant steaks and some of the finest accompaniments I've ever seen on a menu! The service is the best I've ever found and attentive! The setting is relaxed and refined with a welcoming Vibe. You may want to dress up when you go here, not because it is required but because it seems right!
The service and atmosphere were top-notch. So were the mashed potatoes and soup. The Silver Butterknife steak was good, not the best I've ever had. The menu goes beyond, and I would try a different entree next time around.
Steaks here are always amazing. You have to try the steak sandwich if you make it in for lunch.
Fantastic flavors, esp on the red pepper coulis under halibut and swisschard.
Came here for date night, it was so good!! Surf and turf! Best shrimp and best steak! Seasoned perfectly! Great service, I'm docking a star because they are pricy for what you get, expect like $100 per person to really be able to enjoy a meal, and the wine list lacked anything interesting! But I would go back. Once I save up... Ha!
We were there last nite for our 44th wedding anniversary. Our server Greg was the best!!! We had never been to Murrays and it was such a great treat. The steak was absolutely delicious and the reviews are right they treat you like royalty. Thank you so much for making our anniversary so special and thank you for the dessert it was the best! We will be back!!
Jenny, our bartender, created the most fantastic bar experience. I’ve never felt so well taken care of at an establishment. She created the best drinks and answered all of our menu questions. Thank you Murrays! Take care Jenny, you’re the best!
Murray's is really the only place to go for a great steak. I've eaten at other steak restaurants and none can compare ... especially with the filet. Juicy, tender and full of flavor. Whether it be lunch or dinner, every time I imbibe it's been a wonderful, delicious experience.
Murray's is a one of a kind steakhouse. In down town Minneapolis you will find nestled in one of the oldest buildings in the state, an unassuming looking old town steakhouse. Don't be fooled though. From the moment you walk in you are swept away in the nostalgia of it all. From the table side display of cuts, which includes a live lobster staring daggers at you, to the extra large appetizer portions, the beauty of Murray's is in the details. The steak itself demonstrates massive flavor and tenderness that can compete with any steak in the country. Check this place out for sure if you ever find yourself in Minneapolis Minnesota.
Outstanding dining experience.
Romantic and vintage ambience.
Attentive and professional service.
Steaks that are so tender, it's a guilty pleasure to enjoy them so much.
We will definately visit Murray's again and recommend that youvisit them too.
The Maitre D was horrible. Very rude. He tells me my conversation was too loud on the phone but I could hear all of the conversations around me very clearly. My waitress Sara was excellent. My opinion the steaks an overall service is better at Manny's .
Excellent happy hour - at least the last time I was here two years ago - keeps this as one of my favorite places for 5:00. Lots of nice bites (those sliders), and drinks are made skillfully. I’ve yet to have a proper dinner and steak here, but it’s on my list to come back and do it!
Went for husbands birthday! Ordered the Silver Butter Knife Steak. It was the best Sirloin I have ever had and ranks favorable with what is the best in my opinion which is the Presidential T-Bone at the Cattleman in Oklahoma City. I rank this steak ahead of Peter Luger Porterhouse. I would definitely come back.
My wife and I came here for dinner and had a great experience. We tried the Wagyu steak special and it was one of the best I have ever had. The server was attentive and helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes the feel of an old style restaurant.
The service, the food and the atmosphere are beyond great!!!!
Make sure you try the silver steak for two and the bacon wrap shrimp.
Seriously what an experience!! Such amazing food!! Their blue cheese crusted filet is amazing!! The szechuan green beans were out of this world!! Ask for Nate! He's probably the best server we've ever had! (I had a huge headache and he got me painkillers and birthday cake!) Thank you, Nate for such an amazing experience!!!
My son brought me there and it was the greatest dining experience I have EVER HAD! STAFF WAS AMAZING& THE FOOD EVEN BETTER! 10 STAR Restaurant! Beautiful atmosphere to!
The silver butter knife steak for two was superb! The polenta was also very good.
My mouth is watering just thinking about my most recent meal there (hanger steak, rare, with fries and a Pimm's drink)! The food is delicious; the service impeccable. The old-school 1940s vibe is great too. Just an overall. classy and professional place! I can't say enough nice things about it. Murray's is the gift I give to people I really like!
Our server Abigail was one of a kind and made a more formal dining experience much more comfortable for us. She really made the night for us!
The food was 5 stars as well...the tumeric apple risotto was amazing as was the walleye and KC Strip. Great spot for a date night.
I wasn't overly impressed. It has a ton of old school charm from 'back in the day', which I loved. The staff was courteous and professional. The atmosphere is nice. It just wasn't my vibe. I feel the fare was overpriced for the value. The menu was very misleading. The bill for everyone was over double what we expected.
The food was great, per usual. However, our server Ricardo was fantastic. He made the experience A+++!
We never have a bad time here but Ricardo made it a little extra special this time.
Great service and great food.
Absolutely the best food and service around!!
Classic, classy, beautiful establishment with the best service! Thank you for the birthday treat!!
You won't get the swag that you do at another very local upscale steakhouse, but they don't act like you'll get it. Murray's is more fine, sweet, quaint, and that other steakhouse is more brute, pop, holycow. I love them both in completely different ways, and rightfully so.
Cocktails are great, at least that's how I remember it (or wish to); can't go wrong with any cut, staff is knowledgable.
This restaurant is the one I like best. I visit a lot of restaurants but here I constantly return again and again. The stuff is very cordial and the cuisine they place on your table is so appetizing. I am always happy to have a decent meal in this restaurant. Highly recommended.
I've had several people recommend Murray's. While the service was top tier, I found the food to be over seasoned. It was both salty and buttery to the extreme. I enjoy strong flavors and I feel confident in my palate, this just did not please it.
Anniversary/Retirement celebration at Murray's is "classic class." Upscale service, friendly staff and a tender flavorful Butter Knife Steak for two. Had to box some up to save room for dessert!
Murray's is a very high-end, high-quality food restaurant. The food is delicious and cooked perfectly. I had the 20-oz. ribeye and creme brulee, and it was to die for. It is very expensive, but totally worth it. For me, it is a once in a long while experience, just for the price, but one I'd like to have again.
Wow, what an amazing experience! The staff were so kind and professional, the food was EXCELLENT, and I couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend my birthday!
Steaks were very good and assorted bread baskets are always tasty. Service was attentive and timely for a big party.
Real upscale steak house. As a special treat we had lunch mid week. It has a modern but warm atmosphere. Excellent and friendly service. We had the beef stroganoff as welll as the ground sirloin.and also a pastrami sandwich. All were pleased with their meals.
Surprisingly inexpensive lunch considering the upscale nature of the restaurantk. Can't speak for the evening fare, however.
Every bite was delicious, the service was first rate, managers making sure every table was satisfied. It was a flawless evening in every way. Even the booths for 4 people were comfortable for a full-figured man. I go every time I come to Minneapolis.
Best steak ever. My husband ordered the filet and I ordered the Ribeye. I liked his way better, and we ordered our steaks well done. His was excellent; really tender and juicy. My ribeye was okay; oily and too salty on the outside for my taste, but the inside was pretty good and tender. I'm getting their filet next time. Service was good. Decor is classic, classy, romantic and beautiful.
Old world feel, upscale dining with a hefty price tag.
We were really looking forward to eating here while on vacation but the meat fell flat and lacked flavor.
And the au gratin potatoes were odd.
It's def a social take your time environment. Staff was friendly but I will wait and eat my local grass fed beef at home.
The service was great you reservations to get in I came early and a seated me immediately they came and took my order promptly my food was ready quick the food was awesome I forgot to take a picture! I will definitely be back!😄 …
I've had the privilege of eating at many steakhouse type restaurants. These steaks are so much better than any of the others. It's seriously hard to believe that they can make a steak taste that much better. I'll never go to another steak place in Minnesota
Steak was second to none! Service was great, and we enjoyed the atmosphere.
Visited with a group of fourteen. Called two days ahead to reserve a table for lunch. They quickly took my info and we were set.
Seated our party promptly in a private room. Table service was great and attentive.
Food was done perfectly. People had a wide array of plates and everyone was satisfied.
Will return again.
This is 5 Star dining at its finest! I highly recommend the Chateaubriand for two! I couldn't say enough for my server Jenny as she is most knowledgeable of the entire menu and all of the beverages! She brings your dining experience way to the next level! I can't wait to go again!!
Kevin Greve
Fantastic service from Greg, exceptional chateaubriand, and a very loud shout-out to the pastry chef. You’re all truly artists!
Was recommended by a family member and we were not disappointed at all. Crabcakes were scrumptious! I enjoyed a filet mignon which was cooked just as I ordered and my son, the 18 oz. ribeye. Definitely a wise choice.
Went to Murray's over lunch with some colleagues. While the atmosphere is just about perfect for the purpose I was there, the fish and chips were not very good at all. The description of being "flash fried" meant that the breading, being too thick (and bland, to boot), was soggy just under the apparently cooked surface. I suppose I should have gotten the steak sandwich, since steak is me their thing, but sometimes you don't want a steak sandwich.
Great food and drink but just felt like if you are other than white you are not welcome. When we enter the steak house all eye on me and my wife like it we going to be door dash on our meal. We got different severice compare to white.
The service was fantastic - starting at the front door and continuing on throughout the evening. Our waiter's recommendations were spot on and the ribeye I had literally melted in my mouth. Cannot recommend this place enough.
Excellent customer service & Delicious food.
Service was prompt, professional and courteous. The steak sandwich and fries were meh. Cesear salad was not differentiating for a high end steakhouse. Decent wine by the glass list and pricing.
Easter Sunday Brunch was amazing. Staff was attentive and friendly. the food was outstanding!
This is our favorite place to go for our anniversary. My husband and I absolutely love the Silver Butterknife Steak for two. The service is always top notch. We have been there many times now and always leave happy.
AMAZING!!! As far as food goes, you can't go anywhere better, especially for their steak sandwhich. The interior design is wonderful, everything is so appealing to look at. Even though it may cost a good amount, highly recommended!!!
We have been dinning here for 12 years.
Today Deb and I had lunch at Murray's restaurant. We both had the onion soup and it was delicious. Deb had the wedge salad and huge and she says delicious. I had the Nicoise
salad and absolutely loved it. Ricardo our server gave us impeccable service. The whole staff are 1st class. We recommend using the valet service. They charge 12.00 , we parked in the parking building and it was 24.00. We plan on celebrating New Year's at Murray's. We can't wait. We will enjoy our favorite chateaubriand for two. My wife and I have traveled the country in our RV and have dined at the best steak houses in Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Texas, Kansas, and the list goes on and we can truly state that Murrays is the Pinnacle of American Steakhouses.
Outstanding! Food is superior, service outstanding! I love the ambiance.
Everything was phenomenal!!! Great food, service, and beautiful atmosphere. Oh and the Garlic toast as always .... Mmmmm
Amazing food and drinks. Even better service.
The Butterknife Steak is exquisite, and Murray's freshly sqeezes probably the best lemonade I've ever imbibed. Parallel to this, the atmosphere is subtly retro in a way that makes the restaurant feel almost anachronistic (it's a very cool effect). The wait staff is supremely friendly and personal (shoutout to Ricardo!) and makes the experience more enjoyable by far.
I don't live in Minneapolis, but the next time I return I'll be sure to give this place my business, as should anyone else looking for a delicious steak in an incredible atmosphere!
I've been to quite a few steakhouses, and this one did not disappoint!! Lobster Crab Bisque is nothing less than perfection as well as the ribeye cooked Pittsburgh style 👌 …
One of the top happy hours in downtown Minneapolis. Great burgers, solid price on local and tap beers. Good wine selection, too. And the TOAST! 5 stars!
Great service and great food.
Hands down the best steakhouse!! We are never disappointed with Murray’s! Great service and great food...you can’t go wrong!! Chataubriand with hash browns and Szechuan green beans is our go to!!
An amazing piece of history downtown Minneapolis. The food was incredible and the staff was excellent. You never know who will walk in to dine a couple tables away. This is my first trip to the city and Murray's but its probably a return visit for Vice President Walter Mondale as he happen to sit a couple tables away tonight.
I can not say enough good things about Murray's. One of best meals I have ever and I would very much recommend this to anyone! My favorite drink to try is the Sidecar by the way. So good!
One of the best filets I've ever had! Their appetizers and cocktails are quite delicious well-designed to go with steak (since that is their feature item...). The filet is excellent with either the blue cheese crust or peppercorn crust, which, surprisingly, doesn't take away from the flavor of the filet. The Silver Butter Knife Steak was a bit tough for my group's taste, so I would recommend the filet. While it's not cheap, it is definitely worth it, should you decide to treat yourself.
This restaurant was literally next door to my hotel, which was a plus, after coming in late from a business meeting and needing a bite to eat. The service was good and the lobster bisque was absolutely delicious. I will remember this restaurant the next time I'm in the area. Thanks Murray's.
I travel extensively for my job. I am not from or based in Minneapolis. My wife and I were in town for a friends wedding, and stayed a few extra days, as it was my wife's birthday. Why this establishment has not made it on more "Best Steakhouses in the U.S," is beyond me. I took her there for a birthday dinner and they were fantastic. Service was world class. The steaks, out of this world good. Five stars, all the way.
Amazing all the way to through the unbelievable moist yellow cake birthday dessert! 10/10 would recommend! Friendly staff and a cozy environment topped off with world class steaks and more!
Lunch New York Strip was absolutely amazing. Our server Abi was great. Possibly the best food and service I have ever had. We will definitely be back.
Exceptional Customer Service and great food.
Still the best place in town for red meat and, surprisingly, the walleye. Great happy hour for small plates at a good price. Same with the wine list and beer on tap. Good people, too. What's not to like?
Had a great meal and drinks with awesome service will definitely be going back next time were in Minneapolis.
Awesome food and staff. Steak was phenomenal with blue cheese crust!
Great service, great food. Clean, comfortable, relaxed dining room and atmosphere. Food (lunch menu) was satisfactory, perhaps a bit high-priced for lunch.
Restrooms were clean. Could benefit from a baby changing table.
Overall an enjoyable experience. Would recommend and return.
A true Minneapolis institution. Murray's has all the ambiance of an old school supper club and their food is amazing. I still think it's the best steakhouse in the Twin Cities. Ruth's Chris - eat your heart out! Enough with the chain steakhouse. If I'm going to drop over $100 on dinner, I want it to go to a homegrown restaurant. Not one listed on the NASDAQ. Also, don't fill up on the buttery little toast guys!
My husband and I went on st Patrick's day, we were the first customers in the resturant. The food is amazing, the service is awesome, and the people who work there are genuinely good. We
Would give a 5 star.
We enjoyed the bar atmosphere during happy hour. The smoked wings, Steak tartar and oyster Rockefeller were all exactly as they should be delicious and a perfect complement to one of the signature cocktails available.
Best steak in the Twin Cities. Aged cuts. Well marbled. Sear cooked to perfection. Order the ribeye medium, which is actually medium rare. You will never find a better cooked steak.
Stopped for happy hour with co-workers to celebrate one's big promotion. Good service and happy hour deals, tasty nibbles. Good friends in the mix always make avoid time.
We got a meal curbside for a special occasion. Everything was excellent. I think the Key Lime Pie was the best I have ever had. Thanks Murray’s!
Even though we couldn’t hold our annual Christmas celebration with friends at Murray’s this year doesn’t mean we couldn’t bring a delicious meal home to enjoy virtually. Thanks for another incredible meal - never disappoints!
Excellent upscale, classy restaurant with great food and an outstanding atmosphere. Home of the butterknife steak, a steak so tender you can cut it with a butterknife. The wait staff is well trained, polite and as good as they get. It might seem pricey but it's worth it to treat yourself now and then. If you're traveling to Minneapolis and enjoy fine dining, Murrays is a must visit.
Best steaks in MN.
I had the New York Strip, hands down, best steak of my life.
The Crème brûlée though...it was, without a doubt, the highlight of my meal. Many restaurants seem to have a hard time with this dish, but Murrays has perfected it!
I treated myself to lunch here on my birthday, once. Their steak was excellent, the soup was excellent, the potato was excellent. Even the waitstaff was blithe and glib. I just can't handle that proud bill on a regular basis.
As a tourist, I enjoyed this bar! The salmon and salad was excellent, the service was superb! The bartenders were knowledgeable on mixology. I liked the mixed crowd of different ages and races.
We ordered delivery for a small family gathering during the pandemic. It was phenomenal! The service on the phone was so accommodating and the food was excellent. Thank you, Murray’s family!
Murrays is a top notch steak house that has steaks, chops and seafood. The quality of food and service is unparalled in the Twin Cities. Check out the outstanding Happy Hour menu before a show at the Target Center.
Brought the girlfriend there on Valentine's Day, made reservations 2 months prior, got there, they had us seated rite away. Dennis was our server, and he did a excellent job. The butter knife steak (new York strip) for 2 is the way to go. It was the best steak ever, with mushrooms and onions, The crust on the steak. It is Goooood. !! Wish I could eat there weekly.lol. had one idiot customer that was out of control, but it's downtown mpls, can't please some idiots. I recommend this aleast 1 time in Ur life, not cheap steak.. But it's a hell good experience. ! ! !
Wow the steak was out of this world. The crab cake was delicious. The service was unbelievable. Slim was the best waiter. If I could give 6 stars I would
Best steak I have eaten in Minneapolis area thus far. Better quality than Manny's at a similar price point. Also enjoyed the great wine list and the bar area for waiting for others is a nice add-on. Crust on ribeye was perfect, seasoned well, and perfectly medium rare. Tried some of the fillet as well, it was the consistency of rare tuna, with great flavor as well. Space has a ratpack/madmen vibe but not what I would call dated by any means. Fine place for a special occasion downtown
I am sorry that i am leaving this review 15 years after the last time I ate at Murray's. All i know is that in all my dinning experience sence than, is measured against it.
I was in my early 20's and our party of 8ish came in. We were under dressed. I was in jeens and a t-shirt. I had a moment of flight right away. But the hostes was so gracious. The wait staff was even better. We were seated between suits and dresses and treeted as the same. I have seldom felt so at ease in a simular situation.
The food was outstanding. The steak melted in my mouth and the sides could have stood on there own as a meal. Have i had better? Sence then. Yes, but dinning takes in to account much more. We tipped 25% that evening and, with time, i know that we under payed.
Thank you Murray's, for an awsome memory
Nick Reuss
A throwback in time. Murray's has been in Minneapolis since 1946. I had a delicious dinner at the bar. I really enjoyed this place. My bartender Slyvia made an awesome Manhattan. It is called Marie Murray's Manhattan made with Makers 46 bourbon, Carpano Antica and Port Wine. As for the food I enjoyed small plates: a classic ceasar side, Murray's French Onion Soup and a Tenderloin Medallion Slider with Bearnaise Sauce. Really, really good!
Murray's is a good friend of the Embassy Suites. We send guests there all the time, and none of them forget their experience. All come back raving about the restaurant. We give Murray's a huge hype and the expectation is met or even better!
Food is always great, service has been amazing every time that I take my wife here. I will always come back! The steak is simply perfect.
Our 5th or 6th time now at Murray's and haven't been disappointed yet, phenomenal steakes and great staff! always a pleasant experience.
All around an unforgettable experience! Bravo!
Amazing food. The steak was amazing melt in your mouth. Only complaint I would have is the potatoes were a little dry.
Had Rib Eye Steak and surprised it comes with no sides for $48! I ordered asparagus amd mashed potatoes for $12 add. If they included the two sides would be reasonable but still pricey. Decent but overly expensive.
Absolutely loved Murray’s this last weekend! We had wonderful service, apps, drinks and steaks. We treated ourselves and Murray’s did not disappoint. Can’t wait to return!
Outstanding and consistent food served here, wait staff was polite and quick despite a packed restaurant. Best steaks around. Will be coming back soon.
Murray's was what I was looking for. A non-chain steakhouse with some local flavor. I will say my filet was perfect, but that is where perfection ended.
Actually, I was met with indifference by the "gentleman" at the desk. Once seated the staff made up for his snootiness with genuine good service. All in all - I'll settle for a chain if in Minny again.
I'm from Kansas City, celebrating my birthday in Minnesota. I can say it was truly the best steak I ever had in my life. The atmosphere was beautiful, and our waitress was awesome.
Food was good. Server wasn't the best. Our steak was done perfectly and we might be back.
Our server Ricardo made our first time experience great. He was super friendly and went beyond and above for us!
A great place for steaks. Service is great but overall nothing stood out compared to other similar type places. I felt the hype was more than the reality but worth the visit.. one time.
The ONLY place this 30-year vegetarian will ever taste a steak.
Best. Steak. Ever.
Old school. Classy.
Treat their employees with so much respect.
Mad props, Murray's.
Fabulous meal with tremendous service and atmosphere
It's been a few years since I've visited Murray's, but it's always a great place to entertain clients or guests. I've never once had a bad meal here, the steak is absolutely delectable!
We had wonderful service. The steak slider was delicious and the perfect size, and the Szechuan green beans were amazing with so much flavor.
A mpls institution with top notch steak. One time they had an Australian wagyu bone in ribeye that was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Sides are ok. Service sometimes good and sometimes great. Most people prefer mannys over Murray’s but I might be a Murray guy, being to both dozens of times.
This truly is a gem of a place. The atmosphere is relaxed, the waitress had high attention to detail, and the food was exceptional. The steak was done perfectly....highly recommend this place.
I came in for a gift card for my parents. It was a quiet atmosphere & good looking interior. The staff were really friendly as well! Ithink my parents will love eating here.
Probably the best steak house in Minnesota. Not a diverse clientele here.
Delicious food. Just because Sid talks about the silver knife steak doesn't mean you need to get that steak. Tons of other great steak options.
Always a trip back in time to a slower dinner with classic cuts of meat and unique cocktails. Service is always outstanding as is the silver butter knife special for two.
Had a great experience, really nice place. Steak was a little salty, but delicious.
Murray's was excellent. Had to he blue cheese fillet, asparagus, and the creamed corn. Followed up with the raspberry pie. Service was splendid.
I had the New York strip sirloin. Perfectly cooked - an amazing meal.
Food was fantastic. The service was excellent. Would totally go again. Quality of food was great.
Great happy hour.
Excellent service, food quality, and accommodation for our tight schedule. Party of three. We'll be back.
To start with, keep in mind that this place is not cheap. We had an incredible experience though. The food was amazing, the cocktails were incredible, and the service was up there with the best service I have had. I have no complaints, knowing the price going in.
I love this place , very amazing friendly staff . Joey is my favorite. Food is amazing , I love it and thank you for always provide me with the best service.
Awesome place lots of History. And the hundred dollar steak is well worth it. Looking forward to the next time I'm in town to get another one.
The sliver butter knife steak is to die for. Always consistent and delicious.
A bit nostalgic meets modern. Service and food outstanding!
I really enjoyed the service, the food. Drinks was good, the atmosphere was relaxed and warm. We will go again, it gives you a chance to dress up nicely
Classic steak house and Minneapolis landmark since 1946. You can't go wrong with the Silver Butter Knife 28 oz NY strip cut by their in-house butcher. Also, not to be missed, at Target Field you can get a Murray's steak sandwich with horseradish sauce.
The best bone-in steak I ever had!
Absolutely fantastic steaks. We also enjoyed the escargot. The service was spectacular, as well. Overall, it's just an excellent experience and I recommend it.
Steak was great and the key lime pie after was fantastic as well...
Incredible steak and awesome service. Had the ribeye, green beans and creamed corn.
Great food and wait staff! A little pricey on drinks and meals. I would dine there again.
What a happy hour! From 4-7pm M-F including during game nights downtown (Twolves, Twins) in the bar area. 1/2 price appetizers, $5 wine (with a selection of 8 wines or so), 1/2 price rails and $4 beer. And on game days in addition to the HH there is a special of a steak burger, fries and domestic bottle beer for $12. Go and you won’t be disappointed!
Possibly the best steak of my life. Scotch is ridiculous priced, but the steak made up for it
The silver butter knife steak is to die for! I keep trying to find that taste elsewhere to no avail. Heard they just remodeled and need to get over there again. Simply the best steak to be had.
Love the tenderness of their steaks. Garlic toast is a must.
Great food and atmosphere. Service was just amazing!
Steak was great, but could be better for the price!
Was t a huge fan of their famous crisps and the silver butter knife steak was good but not great. The staff is amazing and their NY strip is to die for.
Underwhelming 1st time here, the service seemed out of it, I wonder if it was because I was there as soon as they opened for lunch, also my food ( lunch steak) the "cheaper" option didn't quite hit the spot. Maybe it's a lunch quirk. Might have to go back for dinner and give it second try...
I’m not going to talk about the food because it was amazing as always. Ricardo made for an unforgettable night, thanks for the superior service, it is greatly appreciated. Hope to see you again my friend.
High price food and service to match
Murrays is a classic..ot needs no explanation. But if you want an iconic atmosphere, the best steaks available and even better service, Murrays is a legend.
Just have to go. Old school steakhouse with flair and attitude. Go for the special and trust the server on the cocktail, they know you better than you know yourself!
An excellent experience all around.
Carrie the bartender is very friendly...a real professional. Murray's is a Minneapolis institution...the food and service is second to none. Murray's has been in downtown Minneapolis since 1946. I highly recommend Murray's
Excellent butterknife steak. Great service.
My favorite steak house in Minneapolis and I don’t care for steak! The silver butter knife steak lives up to the hype and the martinis are not to be missed . Leave room for raspberry pie.
A must-stop for anyone. Classic steak-house feel and menu. Steaks were excellent and the raspberry pie was just WOW!
The steak was very good, scallops were ok.. other seafood i did not try. Salmon looked good.
Amazing food with upscale yet friendly and personable service. This is the best steakhouse in Minnesota in my opinion. Still thinking about the Chateaubriand days later.
Absolutely wonderful dining experience. Enjoyable start to finish. Steak cooked perfectly, sides were wonderful. Will be back!
Great upscale steakhouse. Everything was better than we hoped for. It’s not cheap but you get what you pay for. Try the steak sampler.
Spendy but so delicious!!
Good food, great staff, prices are high, but . .
Great steak house. Excellent service and exceptional tasting food. We travel all over the US, and this is definitely one of the best steakhouses we've visited.
Amazing service and even better food! Best steak I've ever had. Sides were also delicious.
Great food, great service...great ambiance... what more could you ask for!
