I liked how late they were open. That was nice since me and the girl friend were looking for a late night snack. The guy seemed a little crabby but it was super late and probably just getting done with his shift in a bit, also probably been there for while so I get it. The food was pretty good as well! Think I will definitely come back as I'm moving down to the metro area.

I am quite familiar with Maxwell's. I spent a lot of time there this past winter taking part in outdoor hooka. I loved it however they never let the flame go up high and it was impossible to stay warm! They get an A for effort l. Around this same time I fell in love with their lamb shawarma. I had never tasted anything like it. During this last 3 months I haven't been to Maxwell's and decided to order take it through bite squad. Their shawarma was dry and I also ordered a Philly cheesesteak that was amazing. I also ordered a pizza puff and a sambusa. Their sambusa used to be very big compared to what they are now and they charge $2 for 1 small one via bitesquad. I was disappointed by this. I think Maxwell's maybe slowly declining or they don't care about the quality of their delivery. I will say that the sauce that is accompanied with the sambusa is sweet, tangy and amazing. I love their hooka and customer service is exceptional.

Come down to this little hidden gem down by the city. It's a great little spot where they take care of the food, prices are really great too. Whether you want to much munch on some food, take a break and enjoy some Turkish coffee, or enjoy a bit of ice cream, come on down! And if you need some groceries as well, theres a little convenience store right next door.

Where to begin with this place?... Or should I say the outskirts of this establishment - which is where I was for 4 hours of my life that is surely not to escape my memory anytime soon: That nay sayer of a day, my piece of shitake vehicle had lost it's lugs nuts and bolts acutely prior to my visit and my visit was indebted to this life threatening escape of hardware. With an axle of steel and a heart full of panic I had somehow managebly wobble-wheeled my way from the highway and up the exit to this uninterruptedly extravagant store front and surrounding sidewalk. Not once had I been asked to move, not once had I been bothered with the dealing of a single homosapien! I was never once inconvenienced by my big uneconomical, environmentally un-friendly, self proclaimed inconvenient load of freshly installed gassy metal landmark intrusion. I owe what sanity I had left that day all to Maxwell's Cafe. That should be your new slogan. It rhymes and it's nothing but the truth, and i can only imagine that I am not alone in feeling that sentiment. Word. Aho. Arigato.

Only reason for 3 stars is b/c food is really tasty and delish!! (Person I came with that it was just okay). But anyways they are stingy and charge for every little thing. I ordered Maxwells burger and Maxwells mix. We were a first time customer. We were searching for a halal burger place. They claim they are but don't advertise it. Believe me it will only improve your business if you are, not hurt it. Lady behind counter had attitude whole time, was not happy and rolled her eyes when we were confirming it was halal. Whole time did not smile. Never said thank you or you welcome. Only gave us impression whole time, why are you here? I want to go home type of thing....The burger pattie was super thin :(. We got charged for the container it comes in. Something new. Also tax is normal, but besides that got charged a service fee! (of 3.95%). It's not like there are waitress service that you should get changed that. On top of that also upon looking at our receipt we noticed we were overcharged for the burger a whopping 9 dollars. Not what is on menu price. Maxwells mix barely had any cheese curds in it. For a cup of tea (a Lipton tea bag), burger and maxwells mix, no reason why total should be almost $27... for a fast food joint. Workers do not wear mask or gloves. I heard sneezing, didn't see handwashing. (There was a sink there I could see in front of me and no handwashing ~not to say hands weren't washed in the back afterwards~so don't want to assume.). When ordering tea, the ladys physical hands touched the straw she handed me and she was not wearing gloves. Did not wash her hands before hand either. Of course I didn't use that straw, just threw it out.

Excellent food made to order American comfort food menu. Relaxed environment for eat in or take out. There's a bodega style store attached to the restaurant. I live a block away and Im so grateful for the late night hours of Maxwell's it's proven to be very handy for late night cravings!

Pretty good middle eastern restaurant, and it's connected to the convenience store next door which is nice. Their Gyros are awesome, and their shawarma is good too. Many other items are instant/made elsewhere, but reasonable prices make that understandable. What I liked most about them was the overall value - solid food, nice location and dining room, and close to UM campus and the city. It didn't blow me away, but it was solid and I ate their a couple times when I was recently in town for a conference. If I were in town and in the neighborhood again soon, I would certainly return too Maxwell's Cafe and Grill.

Used to go to this location all the time in college for the best gyro ever. Came back two years ago with my son, just as good. Now though, there are new owners, it's been totally remodeled, very nice, food was good but not as great as it used to be.

A novel little place to stop and catch a bite if you're in the area. A decent variety of meal options. So, unless someone in the group wants something ridiculous you should be able to find something for them. Has some odd ice cream options. But most correlated with a regular flavor.

We only tried their hukkah and it was pretty average. We got honeydew melon hukkah and flavor was very good and light and didn't get harsh at all but they do use quick light coals and I personally don't like smoking that.

A restaurant well known by it's local visitors, consisting of students and young adults. It has a relaxed, urban vibe, where you certainly would not find any drunk "college bros" anywhere around. I got the lamb gyro, which was above average and was well balanced on each bite. Hookah is available at the usual "fair market price" of $20 per bowl. If you come with a larger party, you will be asked to order more than one to sit at their tables outside. Considering how packed it can get late into the evening, it makes sense.

AMAZING GYROS!!! I and several others have agreed that these are some of the best gyros we've ever had (and I've had manyy gyros). There is plenty of food, yummy fries on the side, a reasonable price, and fresh ingredients. They taste phenomenal. 10/10. On another note, the person who cashiers the grocery store (who I think is Maxwell himself) is very nice and pleasant to talk to. I am glad to help support his business. I live a block away from here and used to never look past this place as a convenience store. Now it's one of my favorite restaurants. This place is great and I highly recommend it!

Pretty okay food for the price range . Ordered a gyro and they are very generous on the meat . everything else in the sandwich tasted bland (pita , sauce , vegetables too) The wings are good if you order buffalo and bbq. Overall pretty solid place . It also stays a little later than traditional Mediterranean restaurants so the convenience is great while connected to a convenience store!

This is my favorite place to order Sambosa and cheese curds!! The food is amazing, the price is even better and it's only a plus that it is so close to my sister's place. If you're into hookah, they have a back patio for the winter with heaters and tables on the sidewalk during the warm/summer months.

I was in a bind to provide sandwiches for a catering event, Adam the owner was lovely, I ordered 200 sandwiches to be catered for a 3 day event. It was perfectly orchestrated. I love eating here but you guys got to fix a lot of your flaws. First, is the wait times. I understand that there’s a lot of hungry college kids but please hire a new faster chef or get more chefs. It shouldn’t take an hour for me to get my food everytime I go there. Second, the bathrooms. It looks really sketchy going down there. I advise anyone to not go down especially if you’re female. Who knows if they’ll have cameras in there or what not or someone watching you. Lastly, please give more sauce. Everytime I order I get a small cup of ketchup with a large order of fries. I know I can ask for more but y’all still give me the same size. Would give you five stars and probably would get a lot more customers happy if all these were fixed! Thanks. Keep up the good work though

FIRE falafels! They have shawarma which is kinda like a burrito with soft bread and tons or meat. They also have an ice cream shop inside, very clean inside and fast service! Reasonable prices as well

I am obsessed with Maxwell's. I tried to boycott it for a week and I literally dreamt about it. It is the BEST place to go when you're drunk. They are open until 3 am so it is literally perfect. The service is so good. The food is even better. I really recommend the Maxwell's mix or the hummus or the falafel. You really can't go wrong. 100% a fan favorite.

This place is absolutely awesome! I came here for the first time today and had a couple pots of delicious tea and ate some really good fried chicken, I tried an authentic lamb wrap that was tasty, and their shisha was excellent while sitting in their patio with their gas flame heater. I will be back here.

Solid place to go for either basic groceries or for a hot meal. Do not get the maxells cheese lover as its just cheese in a sandwich not grilled. They have better options like the chicken aioli, any of the shawarma, etc.

This has been my girlfriend's and my "spot" all throughout college (just graduated this week). Finals? Maxwell's. Munchies/drunchies? Maxwell's. Parents come out to visit? Maxwell's. Friend in town from Seattle? Maxwell's. I always get the gyro and fries combo, and my girlfriend did too for a long time but she's been mixing it up lately with the Maxwell's burger, Chicken Shwarma platter, and Beef Kofta platter (all amazing). You just can't go wrong here. Also really generous portion sizes. Love the people, love the food. All around one of my favorite eateries in the world!
