Reviews of Los Andes Latin Bistro
Jacqui S-S
A friend made the suggestion to come and visit this place for some GOOD Peruvian Dishes!! This family owned restaurant is a must try, and I am so glad I did
We ordered the Empanades De Carnes (beef turnerover) - the green sauce - simply delicious and compliments the beef perfectly!
We also ordered the Maduro Con Queso (fried sweet plantain with cheese), the sweetness of the plantain pairs with the saltiness of the cheese)
Main course: Seafood, pan fried trout with, rice and beans.. this fish was everything I could ask for in a course.. seasoned to perfection, yet not dry! Please squeeze the lime!
Please get the The Pisco Vina de Oro (Peru)- this is like a sweet, crisp wine it just tied everything together.
All in all, I will be back!!

Been wanting to try Los Andes for a long time y valió la pena esperar! 🤤 While everything was tasty for sure, the guatita and pollo apanado were sooo delicious! Lots of flavor! Can't wait to go back and try more!

I've been wanting red snapper since returning from Mexico. I've tried a number of places with no success. I took a chance and ordered this through Uber Eats. Man oh Man!!! My food was so much better than expected!! It was still hot by the time I got it. I'm not certain it was a snapper but whatever it was, I murdered it! It was full of flavor and you get your monies worth!! I got a whole fish pan fried, salad, plantains, rice and beans....
Carolina Maricic
Very tasty food if you're looking for southamerican taste. Peruvian ceviche was good for what you can get in Minnesota. The pisco sour drink should have been a tad sweeter and less dry. The mango juice was good but canned whipped cream on top of it kinda ruined for me.
Ecuadorian humitas were delicious. Lomo saltado was perfect. Please stop putting whipped cream out of a can on your desserts, it's not the best and l could have brought my own from home, besides it made the desserts and drinks look tacky.
Otherwise l liked the food, we're coming back and l recommend the place. 👍👍👍👍
Alysha Herpel
By far the best Ecuadorian food we've ever had. Tops our favorite place in Madison, Wi. Phenomenal food, fantastic atmosphere and delicious drinks. Highly recommend!! Cannot wait to come back!

The service was excellent and the food amazing. What else you can ask for...

Moving to the Twin Cities, I was surprised to learn not many Peruvians live here. I'm from DC and of Peruvian/Salvadoran heritage so this restaurant caught my attention. It was the closest thing to Peruvian I could find. The owner was amicable, the ceviche was also pretty good and reminded me of my grandmother's recipe complete with yam and "chocolo". A suggestion would be to feature more Peruvian dishes ají de gallina, causa, pollo a la brasa and Pisco Sour! Since the potential is there. Thanks for bringing a little bit of Peru nonetheless to the Twin Cities.

So we had been here before and that was a 1 star experience due to the lack of customer service and the food taking one hour but we decided to give this place a second chance and everything was great our food came within a reasonable time and customer service was nice until our server stopped coming, that's why you get a 4 star review. The food was very tasty, I look forward to come back. Tip charge is reasonable at 16%, I heard it was 20% which is not reasonable but I'm glad prices and charges are to a good reach.

Food was amazing but the service is awful. We waited 20 minutes before being seated. Then once we were seated we waited another 30 min before a server approached us to take our order. We couldn't even hear the server due to the DJ playing music absolutely too loud for a restaurant. We couldn't hear anything he was saying and he didn't speak English.

I really like Peruvian food, and a quick search suggested Los Andes had some of the best in MN. The dishes we had were underwhelming: Llapingachos, Pollo al Grill, and Arroz Frito con Pollo. Llapingachos were very different from what I've had before — served as slices with a bunch of diced onions and tomatoes on top. My friend says the Pollo al Grill was fine, but I was disappointed that neither of our dishes came with aji sauce. The Arroz Frito con Pollo is a MOUNTAIN of fried rice with little bits of grilled chicken and peppers mixed in — no sauce. That dish in particular seemed pretty dry.
The complimentary tortilla chips and salsa were remarkably good, but we only started with half a dish of salsa and ran out quickly. We needed to ask for a salsa refill, and service was pretty slow and inattentive despite there only being three occupied tables while we were there.
Maybe we just picked the wrong dishes. They certainly weren't bad, but on the pricier side for what they were and not what I hoped.

When I'm travelling, I try to find local restaurants that offer something I can't get at home. Empanadas are one of these foods that I could eat every day for the rest of my life and never tire of them.
Other google reviewers had great things to say about the empanadas at Los Andes so I decided to try them for myself. And mannnn....these are THE TRUTH! I got the empanadas mixto (one beef, one cheese and one chicken). As you can tell from the photo, each protein choice had a significantly different appearance that help distinguish which one is on.
I like the touch of chimmichuri sauce they included, as well. I have saved this location for future trips to the area. If you're on the fence... don't be!
Stef Masterman
Everything here was great! The food and drinks all tasted very fresh and the menu had lots of fun choices. I will definitely go back!

Second time coming here and the service its top notch. Our server Lucia was really helpful and recommended the Choros A La Chalaca, which turned out to be very good. I definitely recommend yall to come and check it out, their NY Steak its really good.

Everything came together perfect. Great staff. Great food.
Roman “Juan” Rivera
Ecuadorian food= Excellent!
Full Bar= Excellent!
Live Latin music on Fridays= Priceless...
Great location, private parking, awesome customer service. I highly recommend it!
Tristan Klausegger
Authenticity! Menu was in English, our server took our order in Spanish, and the food was delicious - more traditional Latin American than what you typically find in the neighborhood. I love plantains so having rice, beans, and plantains on the side was great. Plus I had a steak that was pounded thin and served with a tomato and pepper mix on top. My friends and I would return.

Nice family and friends restaurant bar, delicious Ecuadorian food
Tracey Fredrick
Went for a special food pickup, tried the Plato Vegetariano and Arroz Frito con Pollo. Both were huge and easily splittable. Enjoyed the plantain and sweet potato cake on the plate. Will give a try again soon.
Nick Budzinski
My Chilean wife and I lived it. We'll be back again to sample more of the menu. Ceviche Peruano was fantastic, as was everything we tried.
Kate Bertram
The food was so good. We loved everything we ordered. You must try this restaurant!
Maricely Vega
Good fish, a little over salty. Good portions. Mixed meats really good! Chips and salsa excellent!
Shace Zigler
Great atmosphere. Amazing, authentic Ecuadorian food. 10/10 would recommend!
Nirmal sundhar
Awesome food. You would love it if you have a taste to south Indian food cause I'm south indian and I loved it. The service is good. Don't forget to try their hot sauce. The best fried Chicken I had in uptown. The music will make you tap your feet.
Markeda V.
Ordered takeout, the Ceviche Peruano was delicious I can’t wait to try more food from the menu.
John Morgan
I really enjoy coming here. Solid food and cool atmosphere
Sasha Jonez
I've only been there at least twice since they opened it's primarily a Latin place I mostly went in there to go get a drink and at the end of the day it all came out perfectly the bartender knew what I wanted and the prices are definitely reasonable depending on what you're drinking of course other than that clean respectful and the music is culturally appropriate I love it
Nina Florez
Excellent! I am vegetarian but still I found lots of options for me and the recipes are very authentic. It taste like Latin American food. Service is very nice and polite!
Ryan Hayle
Really good food. Prices are a bit high, but portions are huge. They add a 10% service charge for takeout, but I did not see this mentioned on their website/menu and I felt it was rather sneaky. The new location looks very nice, and I would come back when it's once again safe to do so.
Nyla Worker
Best ceviche I've had in the us so far. Price for most plates is between $10-18. Really good empanada from different places in Latin America.
Beth Arps
Everything we ate was Delicious! We had the Humitas, Empanadas And Seco de Carne. I recommend all of them. And complimentary chips and salsa. The service was excellent and the decor is very nice. We will definitely be back!
Elizabeth Mathers
FOOD WAS SO DELICIOUS. I cannot believe I haven't been here since I moved to Uptown. I had arepas and plantains con queso and some papas and chicharonnes. My friend took me for a late birthday present and we tried everything. I forgot to take a photo of the food. It was so good! Woman owned and has big windows to let the sun in.
Luis Palma
I personally enjoy the food, the smoothies are delicious, The chicharron with onions were really good. El Lomo salteado was cooked perfectly, espacius restaurant, handicap friendly, plenty of parking space on site, it also have a large bar. Very friendly service. **I recommend you go and enjoy a good Latino feast**
Douglas Hall
You must eat at this place. First the guy in charge was the best person. The staff was so sweet and professional. When you start this good with the staff, I shouldn't have been surprised by the food. It blew me away! Just WOW! Thank you.
Carla A Davis
Food took its time to be served. I ordered an appetizer hoping to get it beforehand but it wasn’t the case. Food was ok, not what We were expecting. I ordered grilled chicken and it didn’t have ANY flavor at all, no salt no nothing. I won’t be going back sadly. The only good thing was the restaurant itself, was clean and nice. Also, the greater and service was fine.
Chantal
Clean Environment, nice Atmosphere Victor our bartender was very patient and answered all questions we had..it was our first time.. most definitely will be back.. drinks are strong and worth the money!.. music was nice as well..
Emily Ankeny
Los Andes catered our company holiday party this year and it was amazing! The food was hot, fresh and super tasty. We had the queso, pollo and carne empanadas. As well as llapingachos, yucca fritas and sancocho. And the sauces, sooo good! I would definitely recommend Los Andes food for a meal or a party.
Tony Otto
I work around the corner from Los Andes on Lake St. I started going right after they opened. The food is off the hook good. They have this house made hot sauce that is AMAZING!! So full of flavor and a good amount of heat. I have had nearly everything on their menu and have yet to find something I don't like. I just hit them up for take out since indoor dining is closed, they again hit a home run. Please check this place out. They are totally worth your time and money.
Jeffery “jekewa” Warren
We visited for dinner authentic cuisine and were not disappointed. The portions were enormous, almost family-size. Service was fantastic and the atmosphere very inviting.
M J
I have very little experience with Peruvian food. Los Andes Latin Bistro is a wonderful representation of the culture's contribution to culinary excellence. The ceviche is stellar, along with the chaulafan. I have never had a non-Asian fried rice before and this was amazing. So full of flavor and balanced. It was difficult to put down the fork. I must confess that I have an addiction to empanadas. If you order them here, get the Mixto and get a set for each person in the party. These are not sharable and you'll just feel angry that you're depriving yourself of these delights. We got our meal to go, and the hostess was quite friendly.
Hyrum Blake
If you want legitimate high-quality Ecuadorian food, then try this restaurant! Don't even give it a second thought. Go now! I lived in Ecuador and my wife is from there. It has our approval!
M Burnett
Such delicious flavors! I ordered the Plato Vegetariano, yuca frites, and Arroz Frito con Cameron. The vegetarian plate included a croquette plantain, corn cake, llapingacho (potato cake), beans, rice & salad. The plantain croquette was my favorite! I dipped the other two in the chimichurri green sauce that came with the yuca! Yum! You can never go wrong with yuca frites! Cassava fries are so good! Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Still their chimichurri sauce is the real star! So flavorful! The shrimp stir fry was good. You could taste all of the veggies in there. A good basic if you’re nervous about try new culinary bites. Try this new restaurant out! on Lake Street with a parking lot!
Nick Wilson
Value to price ratio is fantastic! Service can be a little slow when restaurant is full or there is an international football game. Wait is a small thing compare to the delights they serve. Every dish that I saw come out of the kitchen made me wish I had ordered it. The food just feels like there is a team of grandma's in the kitchen pumping out the best food they can.
Noah Jeffrey
Delicious Latin American food with a lively environment.
401 K PB Plan
Food was good but you can notice smaller portions. Also, if you are looking for beans, they will give you soup of beans with five or six beans.
I am not coming back to this restaurant and would recommend trying others on Central Ave. They are more generous with the portions and don’t charge as much.
Service was great!
Paula F
Love this place for Latin American food. I always get their vegetable platter. It comes with a bunch of different things, even soup. Prices are reasonable, and the service is excellent. I get takeout, but the dining area looks comfortable and casual. There's always been a soccer game on the TVs when I've stopped by. I can generally find free on-street parking around the corner. If I lived closer, I'd be a regular. As it is, this is a great change of pace.

The meal I just had is quite possibly the best one I’ve had in months. It’s the kind of meal where you have to sit for a moment to savor but you really want to just dive into everything as quickly as possible. It takes me a really long time to write google reviews, if I ever do them at all. But I just ordered take-out lunch from Los Andes and had to write a review in order to say “thank you” for this incredible food. I ordered the seco de carne, empanadas combination of 3 kinds, and humitas. As a Peruvian, I can honestly say that these dishes made me really happy. The seco was tender, the empanadas were amazing and flavorful especially with the garnish, and the humitas so reminded me of home--and especially with the cheese that reminds me of cheese from Puno! It is so worth it to save a little $$ in order to eat a quality meal that is clearly prepared with knowledge and con mucho cariño.
Chicka Merino
As a peruvian, I really miss some of our food. The ceviche is so good at los andes.
I wish they would bring back the peruvian tamales.
Liliya Adasevich
We got in around 6ish on a Tuesday, it wasn't busy at all, but a good number of people were present. The food was delicious! The 4 of us each got a different meal and all of us were happy with our choices (also testing out each others dish, of course). The portions were really generous, and the dishes were as authentic as they come, laid out on the plate beautifully. Even though the building (and there is only one unisex bathroom) is not in the most top shape, they keep it neat and clean. Nonetheless, I would come back any day and any time just to eat that deliciousness again!
Meaghan Nelson Gibb
Very tasty food! Service was great. Happy hour special are a great deal. Will definitely be back.
Daisy Garcia
Love the variety in the menu, food from all over!
Margaret Bock
I would say it has a more modern flavor to it! Loves the melt straws! Very eco friendly place! Price is higher than what I am use to. Bueno lugar, pero poco expensivo.
Glenda Life Journey USA
I will never expect how good their food here. We love the seafoods that we ordered, the chicken wings are awesomely crunchy & the fries. The blueberry and We will absolutely go back here again. It's absolutely an A+ for all the food & shakes we had!
Michelle Fuenning
We loved the food here! It was our first time visiting and everything was great. We will definitely be back :)
Chico Loko
Great service they speak English and Spanish they explain the menu if your not familiar food is great chaulafan I recommend and the empanadas de queso with sugr sprinkled on it
Mimi Passalacqua
This is a whole in a wall, but oh my would you be surprised! I LOVE their food. The portions can feed two people for a really low price. Food is delicious, their coffee flan is to die for (if you are lucky enough to go when they still have it available) and their fried fish with rice reminds me of when I've visited the Caribbean.
Shawn mac donald
Fantastic atmosphere. Great steaks. Excellent beer and wine and tequila selection. Made-from-scratch food. Kitchen open till 11 p.m. every night
Pablo Maza
The food tastes AMAZING! It’s like eating in Ecuador! The servers are super nice and the food doesn’t take a long to to be served.
Liza Yorek
Authentic ecuadorian food, polite waiters, great environment, and good music 🎶 👌
Iserio Avila
Ceviche Peruano can't eat, it's too salty, and in general all food was salty, but atmósphere and service was great. They should have gave me a ny steak not butterfly it looks like carnita asada
X M
Pretty awesome place! They renovated the interior so it’s a lot more modern. Love the bar. Wish it was bigger. Good and unique S. American food.
S Kersten
Took two visiting Colombians with us and they were very happy with the food (arroz con pollo)... as was I, a long time Minnesotan with an eye for trying new foods. Heads up that entrees run in the $15-20 range, but can easily be shared. We ordered individual entrees and took a LOT home. Plenty of food for the money though, no complaints there.
Jojo Kuria
Good food! Large portions and decent service. I would return just for the food but the service could be a bit better. Overall an average experience. Nothing made it stick out.
Rolando Villagomez
Disclaimer, as I am of Mexican heritage I cannot make claim as to authenticity of Columbian/South American food. But I enjoyed my experience very much at this restaurant. The house aji which is always present at the tables was excellent! One of the best sauces I've ever had, bar none. I was putting it on everything. It is a perfect spice and flavor. I enjoyed a nice fried corvina that was fried with care and genuinely tasted unique as to other fish I've had. Also had the sausage, pork chops, and steak. Corn cakes. All very nice. A good selection of various sodas , beers, and other beverages from Latin America. You are sure to find something you like. The service is very professional and aim to please through good service rather than pandering to people who must have hour long conversations with their server. The beans are very nice but I found the rest of the sides to be lacking on flavors, such as the rice. I am familiar with greater Latin American rice which is mostly just white. Since they give you so much of it it would be nice to do something with it even as little as adding some unintrusive vegetables, something. The extremely over used lettuce/tomato/onion salad can easily be spun into something more unique to this restaurant. And the balance between the amount of entree to sides is more weighted toward the sides. The shakes here looked wonderful but I was too full to order one. If you are looking for a wider spectrum on Latin American cuisine you can go out of your way to eat at Los Andes as this sector of Latin food is not quite as common in the Twin Cities.
Adam Hudak
My wife is Colombian, so we probably come here once a month to give her that taste of home she craves. The food is always delicious, though simple. The meats are appropriately seasoned, the maduro, rice, beans are all fantastic! The portions are huge too. Make sure to order jugos con leche, it is a fruit based milkshake. Great music, too!
Milton Chimbo
It's my favor place to eat. Food is just good better than any other places!!!!
I'll go every day if could!!!
Definitely recommend it!!
I'll be there soon😁😁😁😁 …
Pete Werner
Great food with very generous portions. Not much to look at from the inside but the staff was friendly and the food was terrific. Went with a party of 6 and everyone enjoyed their meals.
Moe Hodge
A very great place clean environment a good place to come have a good drinks reasonable prices come see Victor love love
Elias Linares (E J)
I giving 3 stars, because they claim themselves to be a Colombian restaurant. they aren’t. They should say that is an Ecuadorian or Latin American restaurant. We ordered empanadas, they were ok. they could be more tasteful. Ambience could be rated Average. The staff was niece. In summary is a good decent place for Latin American food, with a lot room for improvement.
Jeffrey Mateo
Been to this place 3 times. The paisa plate is amazing. However, the other two times were kinda so bad that I had to write a review. I walked in and waited at least five minutes for a menu (the restaurant was empty) then waited endlessly for a server until I walked out. Lastly, I went there and got rice with goat stew. I ended up getting like 40 pounds of rice and half a spoon for goat meat if I remember right it was 4 ice cube pieces of meat with litterraly a bone. It was a bit annoyed cause I’m latino and I know what’s to expect and this was not up to part. Sorta recommend this place
If it’s your last choice.
Margo Burt
Just had a great Sunday brunch in my neighborhood! Atmosphere, Latin flavor, tequila, and great service from Jessmari. Must try empanadas and their hot sauce 👌🏼 …
Jeff Bakal
High quality, home cooked food. The place looks a little run down from the outside but we will be coming back for sure. The empanadas are the best we've had and a must order.
Avivage Massage
Hard to find real yummy latin cuisine that’s not just Mexican. This is an incredibly diverse fusion of South American cuisine. Not pretentious. Just solid, good food. Highly recommend.
Luis Soto
I travel a lot for work and I am always in the hunt for great places to eat and explore. Being Colombian I was in the mood for some Colombian food.
This place is not located on the best area and this was my first time in Minneapolis so that tells you something. The restaurant looked old and dungy but the food was excellent. I am very picky about food and especially Colombian because I was raised with my mother and grandmother making the best meals. This place has amazing food and big portions. Their Bandeja Paisa will fill you up and enlighten all your taste buds. This place will not dissapoint for food. If you are looking for ambiance, a nice crowd, and good area this is not the place. But for food...killer killer! Loved it
Elias Saavedra
Great seafood selection with a South American touch. Ecuadorian plates is their speciality. Highly recommend the empanadas for apps. The chimichurri is to die for.
Bertha Arias
Excellent service. Food Delicious.
Leika Schmidt
Los Andes serves Ecuadorian and Colombian food and I thank my lucky stars I don't live too far away from this place because this place is AUTHENTIC. If you're new to Ecuadorian food, here's the scoop: no spicy. No tortilla. No chips n guac. Great hearty soups like sopa de mariscos are great for hangovers and are ok for pescatarians. Empanada are flaky dough pockets stuffed with cheese or meat and spices that go well with their aij criollo. Patacones are fried unripe plantains that also go with the aij criollo. Also try their picada los Andes if you just want to try different meats on a platter. Or chaulafan if you're craving fried rice from South America.
Jeremy Ellis
All of the food at the Andes is amazing; but the papa rellenas are excellent. The chualafan rice (with shrimp, etc.) is *delicious*; and I find myself also really liking the Pescado Apanado (fried fish with fixins).
Mauro Madrigal
I have only been there a couple of times and so far food has been excellent.
Laurie Franklin
We always get the chaulafan because it's amazing!! Everyone gets their own order, and the servings are so big we each get three meals out of it!
Jaime Herrer
I loved it cause it had live music on a Friday and my friends and I had such a good time and food and drinks were awesome and a fair price...!!!🙂
Chris Mad
Unfortunately is not that good I was specting more

Service is good but they need to improve more in the food.
