This is a very nice, upscale crab "Shack" that outshines its neighborhood. We chose this for my wife's X1st birthday dinner and were not disappointed! A broad menu and nice selection of wine, beer and other nonalcoholic beverages. We paired snow crab with headless shrimp, potatoes and those little corn cobs with mild seasoning in the boil bag and I got some medium spicy on the side. The keylime pie was delicious!

Delicious!!!! It was my first time trying this style of food and it was incredible. We order the chef plate for 6 persons but easily can be enough for 8. The waitress was very kind and the place is quiet and nice. We had a great time there.

We really enjoyed our first visit here. The food was great, seems pricey at first, but when you consider the "amount" of food you get, the flexibility to mix n match items, and the quality of it - it's not out of line at all. Servers were a little aggressive wanting to take our order while waiting for our entire party to show up, but not a huge deal. Overall - WE'LL BE BACK!

It was my first time having a seafood boil and this place did not disappoint. All the food came out fresh and hot and the flavor was fantastic. Good portion sizes too, 4 of us split the large seafood platter and it was the perfect amount for everyone to eat comfortably

Food was great! Environment was clean, creative and very comfortable. You could tell they were short staffed and the patio was closed, but the staff hustled and still earned their tip! Will definitely return.

Went there with family and friends. Never been here before. The waitress didn't speak much English but she was very helpful. We ordered appetizers, they were very good and came out timely. The main course was very good. Mine had crab, large shrimp with tails on, corn on the cob and baby potatoes. The crab was very meaty, the shrimp was unbelievably good, the corn on the cob and baby potatoes were so tasty because they were steamed in the bag with everything else. If you like seafood and want to try something different I highly recommend the Crafty Crab. I know we'll be back!

The experience was ok but nothing to brag about. Please note, If anyone has babies or toddlers, this may NOT....... be the place for you. There's no place in the restroom to change diapers or pullups. This was beyond frustrating when having a busy child and having no place to change them. I also will never understand why so many restaurants don't take better care of their restrooms overall...I ordered the lobster seafood boil and it included sausages that sliced beyond thin. The shrimp were tasty but overall, it was pretty average. I enjoyed the fried oysters and a family member ordered the fried fish and said it tasted good. If I were to come back, it would be for the fried oysters.

I have had 2M people utilize my reviews and I don't give out 5 stars lightly but this place is EXCEPTIONAL! We had the Kings feast plus a Snow Crab broil (buttery garlic with medium spiciness) and it was FANTASTIC! Highly recommend. Relaxed atmosphere, large tables with comfortable seating, friendly staff, hot and fresh with a bib and gloves to boot!

Our families go to spot for Cajun seafood. We always get attended by the same female server. Super sweet and recognizes us everytime we come in. Provides us very good service throughout the experience. Food is amazing always. We do the Medium spicy lemon pepper large platter which is enough for me my girl and son.

They have a nice setup here! They have paper towels, bibs, towelettes, bibs, and plastic gloves at the ready. While I will say the portion sizes are a bit smaller than I'm used to for the price, the food more than makes up for it in flavor and freshness. The sauce that came with my snow Crab platter was delicious. I was tempted to drink it ngl. Definitely recommend this place for both the atmosphere and service.

The gumbo was delicious but salty. We got the catfish, it was fine, they were like big nuggets not fillets like we get other places. Not a bad place just not what we were expecting.

I really wanted crab while visiting the Mall of America. I drove twenty minutes out to Crafty Crab and WAS NOT disappointed! Had a snow crab and shrimp combo that was on special ordered with the BOOM flavoring (all the seasonings) at my waitress's suggestion with medium heat and it was amazing! Great seafood bake right at my table with crab, shrimp, potatoes, corn, and sausage all with mazing flavor and just the right amount of spice. Make the drive, you won't be disappointed.

Very nice place. The ambience is great. There is a side bar to have a romantic conversation. Seafood is delicious. Happy hours after 3pm . Easy Parking. Located accross from Applebees. Their carry-out bags are sturdy and impressive. It says alot about attention to quality. Spacious booths to dine in.

Boom Sauce was delicious. Service was not good. Never came back to ask how things were. Had to flag down someone everytime to get a pop filled or to even pay the bill. Now I see why they force gratuity on groups of 6 or more. Food was overcooked, and they've cut down on the size of the sausages they give you since last May. PLEASE OFFER THE QUALITY FOOD AND SERVICE YOU HAD ON MOTHER'S DAY!

Wow! This was delicious! I was skeptical if takeout crab would be good.. it was phenomenal. They double bagged it to keep it warm and moist. They sent the juices with in the bag (see bowl in pic). Super flavorful. I was just dunking the potatoes in the bowl and eating them with my hands!

The food was good, but pricey as seafood can be. We ordered the Chef Special plus an extra pound of shrimp minus the corn and potatoes (dietary restriction) there is no discount for marking the option even though you don't get them. The sauce/juice was good, but very salty. The service was fast, but not very personable. The plate in this picture cost almost $60 (plus we added a 15% tip). I would go again if friends wanted to go, but I wouldn't go for myself. I definitely would not tip again for food in a plastic bag served through a hole in plexiglass by someone who wanted me to pay my money, take my food and go as quickly as possible.

Good people, good authentic food, like taking a trip to an island on the ocean without the trip. Just looked thru the negative reviews, we did not have any of those problems. Waiter helped us save a few $ ordering just what we wanted gave us 20 minutes to fuss over the menu got us our drinks in under 5 minutes got us our food in under 20 minutes the order was complete the food was great and cooked well and the rest well its finished business as of this review and it came out fine lol. Same a year later, everything is tasty.

My husband decided to take me out to dinner as a surprise. Knowing that I love seafood,he chose The Crafty Crab. We were able to find parking easily, and the restaurant is very visible. We were greeted by the staff and seated immediately. The waiter was very friendly and helpful as my husband and I had questions about what his recommendations were. We chose to go with his suggestion, the large combination for up to three people. The wait for our food wasn't long,just under 25 minutes. We were NOT disappointed. The food was hot and tasted pretty good. The prices were not bad for the amount of food you get. We know that we will definitely be returning.

Outstanding seafood, the best you’ll find in Minnesota, even beats that well known large chain restaurant. It’s good for lunch, families, or a romantic dinner with your date. Nicely decorated and very comfortable. I’ve only experienced seafood like this in one other place and you’d have to travel to New York to try it. Save the trip and stop by sometime. You won’t be disappointed.

We stopped for lunch. There weren't many people but I'm told the place gets packed on evenings and weekends. We enjoyed our little feast of Snow Crab, Shrimp, and Sausage with potatoes and corn on the cob, served in the bag it was all cooked in with their mild signature spice blend. It was all delicious. Our waitress was pleasant and efficient. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I felt the prices were too high.

Dined at the Crafty Crab with a beloved pal last evening and I was totally thrilled! We shared the large platter sample at $66 and had more food than we could consume! Clams, muscles, crab, prawns, and jumbo shrimp accompanied by red potatoes and corn on the cob. We ordered our platter in cajun and moderate spicy and it was delicious every last bit! I will be back for sure😁 We received great service as well!

Hands down one of the best meals I have ever had. Me and my boyfriend ordered the headless shrimp and snow crab combo with the boom combination seasoning and it came with two small corn on the cobs and a handful of potatoes. Everything was absolutely delicious, so much so that we ordered some extra potatoes and corn just because we couldn’t get enough. Overall it was a great experience! I love the atmosphere and it is a very clean and cool environment with amazing decorations! I would highly recommend trying this!!!🙌🏼

The oysters were really good. Crawfish were overcooked but traded it out for snow crab and shrimp. It was just as good as the oysters. Service was good. I'll come back when I come back to town.

The food was amazing!! We had one of the seafood boils with a lb. of crab legs, a lb. of shrimp, 1/2 lb. sausage, corn and potatoes with the BOOM seasoning and a side of hush puppies. Highly recommend wearing the gloves! 😂 It's a bit messy but so worth it! Our waitress was very nice and service was fantastic! We will definitely be back! 💯⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The experience was weird for my friend and myself. The food was good but the atmosphere and ambiance was not in sink. Our waiter was not friendly and acted like a wanna be gangster. My friend had a nasty experience in the restroom with a customer. The clientele seems undesirable. The prices were high and I just don't think this place will survive unless they bring this place up a notch or 3.

Food was fair. The seafood came in a plastic bag, but it was obviously in water for a long, long time. Very water logged. The crab was very watery, as was the lobster. The scallops were separate on a plate and delicious. One person got a friend dish and stated everything was very tasty. Maybe go early so not as water logged?

This place on central has a great atmosphere. The seafood boil is great! The clams and oysters are even cooked so well that they don't have that seawater taste. I highly recommend the kaboom sauce which is all of the sauces mixed together. The staff is amazing and super attentive!

The morning you open the doors you smell deliciousness!! Went on a Sunday afternoon during football season so it was kinda slow but i don't mind. It was quiet, clean and cool (89 degrees outside). Server was polite and a lil comical. I ordered 1/2 pound snow crab with mild butter garlic seasoning And It comes with corn and potatoes! SO SO GOOD!! If you haven't been, you should give a try, I do not think you will be disappointed! The price is right and so was everything else!

We had a fantastic experience with 6 adults. Service was very good, waiter attentive and enjoyable! Food was excellent. As a group we had blue crab, Dungeness crab, shrimp both boiled and fried. It was all great. We will be back! Excellent value.

Customer service needs some work, but food was good. The butter sauce is my favorite. Prices has increased. For a build your own, 1/2 pound of green/black mussels, and shrimp with an order of eggs was 30.00

The only reason why I gave it a 4 and not a 5 star is solely because I wish the seasoning was a little better. But overall, I thought the food was amazing. My girlfriend and I passed out after eating it. The portion size was huge (we did the $49 meal). We both took breaks and went back in. The restaurant itself looks very very nice and upscale. We plan on eating in sometime. The staff were super nice and helpful. I highly recommend this place. It can be pricey, but well worth the money, trust me!!

You get a good amount, so I think it’s worth the price. There’s a trash can, unlimited towels, gloves, and a plastic bib. The food was good and the sauce was good. If you love spicy, get the hottest level because all you will get is a kick. Still super good, so full. I will come again with family. The tip starts at 15% though although they only checked up on us twice. That’s fine since I like to eat without being bothered.

The Crafty Crab was such a great experience! We ordered the chefs special which was plenty to split between 2 of us! It came with 2 clusters of crab legs, tons of shrimp, sausage, corn on the cob, and potatoes! They let you choose your seasonings as well as the level of spice. Everything was prepared to perfection and the flavor was amazing. And it took less than 15 minutes to receive our food. The waiter was great and attentive and the price was right!

We went on a Thursday night date night. It was not busy and we did not have to wait long for our food at all. We have never done a seafood boil before and it was such a fun experience! We got hush puppies and a seafood boil with crab, shrimp, crawfish, and sausage. We got all messy and had lots of fun. The food was all delicious and the medium heat was a perfect level of spicy. The staff was very nice and tentative and the the restaurant was clean and had nice decor. We can’t wait to go again and try out a new boil combo. :)

Awesome experience, friendly staff and the food was delcious, had the lobster tail and little potatos, buttery garlic seasoned with medium spicy (should have gone max spicy though, it definitly could have been spicier). Prices were comparably to any other seafood establishment. 5 stars!!! definitly recommended.

Overall food was good, disappointed because my crabs was the size of my finger. I only got like one cluster with 6 little crab legs on it. Hell of shrimp I don’t even eat shrimp like that, had to dip in my girl bag to get 2 of her crab legs. Lucky the seasoning was good & my bag was freshly steam. But if you want to pay the price for them little crab legs that they give you that they cover up. By giving you hell of shrimp sausages & potatoes then this is the place

Fantastic place to grab a whole tray of crab legs, shrimp, crawfish, muscles and clams! Excellent food, plenty of options for seafood cooked in different ways. Bibs with plastic gloves provided, shell bucket on each table, as well as a roll of paper towels. Tables have paper drop cloth on them, and the seats are cleaned. It smells like cooked crustaceans, but not a fishy smell. Entire place is clean, well presented, and the service was incredible! If you're looking for a fun night on the town, or want to get your hands dirty with some of the tastiest crab in town, this is the place!

This was my first time at Crafty Crab and it was absolutely amazing! My 11-year-old tried something new and loved it!!! Actually, everyone at the table loved their selections, and we all had different items and seasonings. Plus, it was fun wearing a bib while eating. The staff was very fast and made sure we had everything we needed. You have to try Crusty Crab, I can not recommend it enough! I'm already excited about my next time there!!!

My daughter, myself and a friend went here for dinner. We were hungry for sea food and had never been here. Wanted a change from red lobster. This place isn’t fancy and has amazing food. Absolutely all 3 of us loved it all very much. Clean neat atmosphere. Nice helpful wait staff. Only thing is the tilapia could have more seasoning, it was a little bland. But I would highly recommend this place to everyone of any age. We will for sure be back!!!!!

Tough to find fried oysters. This dive take on seafood boils fills the gap for seafood in the Columbia Heights area. You'll smell the saltwater upon entery. Service was fairly quick while they were in the rush.

We’ve been anxiously awaiting the opening of this location, and, let me tell you, it was WORTH THE WAIT!!! My order confirmation said it would be ready for pickup in 20 minutes. As I was walking in their door 20 minutes later, I received a text that my food was ready. I was greeted warmly with a smile and my carefully packaged food was handed to me. The ride home was difficult as the sumptuous aroma filled my vehicle. Generous portions of quality crab, shrimp and lobster that were expertly spiced, as requested. In addition, large portions of corn and potatoes. I was pleasantly surprised, that unlike other “boil” restaurants, the container was not overfilled with liquid, which tends to make for soggy seafood. The quality to value equation are well matched. I highly recommend that you give them a try!!! I may not be able to wait until next weekend for another meal from them!

We went for lunch on the last Friday of Lent. Besides us and few orders for pick up there was only one other customer. The food was DELICIOUS and very reasonable priced. Service was quick, friendly and attentive. The dining area is nicely done, clean and comfortable. The Crafty Crab is definitely worth a try.

Hands down best shirm place around. I have turned about 10 people onto this place. 1st time i ate here i was stuck. So love love love this place. . my most favorite restaurant and shrimp stop to go. People who work there are so helpful and friendly too. Never ate in always have taken for take out. But every time i stop and pick up the people here are super friendly and helpful and very nice! Ordered here for the first time via DoorDash. The food stayed hot from the restaurant, to my work, to my home (at least 40 minutes) and was FANTASTIC! I got crawfish and black mussels with medium spice BOOM seasoning and it was perfect. The mussels already had the top shell off so they were very easy to eat. They even send along a bib, gloves, and hand wipes! Will definitely order here again!

Between red lobster and Crafty Crab, this is the best place to order out great seafoods and crabs. So worth your money. A fine dining with only a portion served on your plate? Or, a damn good chunk portion size? I rather have a very good chunk size of foods that is worth my money.

We got a couple mixed seafood dishes and a bunch of sides. Sides were great, and the seafood dishes were flavored very well and had generous portions. However the seafood was very over salted. We ended up dumping the extra liquid out and added some melted butter to try and cut the salt. Unfortunate since the flavors were very good. Only took off one star since it could have just been a small mistake.

Ordered through Doordash. Was not disappointed. Came in a reasonable time. The corn was over done, but might have been drive-time-overcook honestly. Anyway, ordered special with Dungeness crab, snow crab, shrimp sausage, corn, and taters - all medium Cajun... Yes please. Was good. Little pricey but for the portion sizes, I say worth it. 4/5 and would order again.

Outstanding! We have ordered the "Combine em'" twice and both times they were great. 1lb snow crab with 1lb headless shrimp. The boom mix'em all and medium spice. Don't forget to order extra potatoes and sausage.

I had 1/2 pound crab boil (comes with potatoes, need to order 1 lb to get corn) - you can't buy uncooked crab legs for this price! Seasoning was great! Hush puppies were only $3.99 and were great! Cannot wait until they open for seated dining, will definitely be back!!!

The food here is great. This place was opened during the pandemic, so it will be interesting to try it after things are fully settled. Take out here is pretty easy, so give it a try while indoor dining is shut down. The spice level is not crazy either, so don't be afraid of it.

Seriously AMAZING!!! I would definitely say it’s the best seafood I’ve had from a restaurant. We ordered to go boil with lobster, sausage, potatoes and corn (I wouldn’t get the corn again, it was a little soggy) catfish, shrimp and scallops. Everything was hot when we picked it up. I would say price for the amount of food we received was perfect!

Went to Crafty Crab for Father's day. Very busy. The food was awesome. We had the Blue crab and Snow crab boils as well as scallops. Well worth the wait. We will go again, just not on a holiday.

Great place for getting seaboil at a reasonable price. Their Cajun sauce is very good and tasty. I would suggest getting medium if you want something more with a kick, without making you cry. Beer selection is good with lots of local beers.

I love Crafty Crab. I first tried it in Charlotte and was very satisfied. I didn't like the one in Florida, I feel like you don't get the value of your money but this Minneapolis location is like the one on Charlotte. Although the food was really good, I'm only giving 3 stars because what they have as "dungeoness crab" is really snow crab, we paid for dungeoness and got snow crab, tried to explain this isn't the right crab as on the menu and the lady said it was🤷‍♀️, I even showed her a picture..but she insisted it was not snow crab, so don't order dungeoness because they don't have it and/or have no clue what it even is.
