I stopped in here this weekend when I wanted live lobster for lobster rolls that I was making. This was the only place that I could find at the time that had what I wanted and it might be the only place in the twin cities that offers such a variety of seafood. The parking lot is tight and limited but there were a few spots open when I arrived. The staff was super awesome and friendly, and the lady who was ringing up my order was great to talk to. A good experience like this not only brightens up my day but would make me a repeat customer as well. I got a great deal on two lobsters and didn't have any problems after consumption so no complaints whatsoever. I initially thought that it may have smelt a little fishy, but I was wrong since it tasted great and everyone who tried the lobster rolls I made loved them!

OK there are complaints out there about customer service here. Yes, parking is virtually nonexistent. Yes, when they are busy it is NOT a customer-friendly experience. Seems like the staff are in some kind of panic mode when there is a line of customers. At such times, you gotta know WHAT you want and HOW MUCH you want. When things slow down then they are actually helpful(!!) and even answer our questions (fathom that). They have pretty much all the related ingredients we need for sashimi n sushi, and most are high grade. They even have kimchi. Prices for that stuff are higher than Yule find at United Noodle or Ha Tien. Last item- safety and WiFi. We felt safe from carjacking and mugging in this area, and driving to/from, so that is not a concern. NO WiFi is available from coastal, but caribou’s is strong enuff.

I went here and got some tasty cod fish. They have a good selection of fish and seafood, and some locally made goods - I got some pistachio shortbread cookies. The store is pretty small inside, and I had to wait a bit for service - this was no surprise, as I went around 5 pm on a Friday of Lent. I was worried that they were almost out of cod, but they had more in the back in addition to what's in the display case, so just ask if you don't see what you're looking for. I liked this place and would come back; it seems like one of our only options for fresh fish here in the Cities (along with their Minneapolis location). There isn't a ton of parking, so be aware of that if you come during a busy time. The price was a bit high (this is probably normal for fresh fish though), and the young man who waited on me wasn't overly friendly (but he wasn't rude, either). I think they were just overwhelmed with customers. Overall this is a cool place, and I'd recommend it - check it out!

I am oyster obsessed! And Coastal Seafoods provides them at prices that are comprable to what can be found on the East coast (coming from a girl who lived in New Hampshire). Additionally, the oyster guys took the time to teach me how to shuck an oyster and offered suggestions for places to watch local oyster shucking competitions where these gents actually compete!!! They also sell 20oz lobster tail and colossal king crab, which are two of my other seafood favorites. When I want excellent seafood for perfect prices I visit the local fishmongers at Coastal Seafoods because they are truly experts in what they do.

The fish here is really good! The reason it is at a four, probably a 4.5, is because we have found a couple of bones in our fish when we asked for them to be taken out. It is obviously a mistake, but we have also asked for skin off and sometimes we get some of it still on the fish. Overall love this place. Perfect sushi fish!

The fish is as fresh as it gets - best salmon I've ever had! Folks there are helpful as all get out, and even pull the bones for you. They also have sides, spices, wagyu burgers and lots more, and are knowledgeable in all their fish and more. I love this place, and wish I'd started going here earlier! If you want the freshest of fish flown on daily, don't go anywhere else!

Always high quality fresh seafood. Expect to pay frsh seafood prices. This is not the previously frozen you will get at lower prices in your average grocery store. Because it is fresh, they get what is caught and popular items will run out as the day goes on. Arrive early for best selection.

I am thankful that Coastal is near my home. Their weekly sales are awesome. The king crab is priced very well., esp on 20% off Wednesdays. You can't beat it. Their whole bronzini is beautiful and so reasonably priced. After years of purchases, I have never had a bad piece of fish.

We've been coming to Coastal Seafoods for years. I recommend this place to anyone and everyone looking for quality seafood. There's always a nice selection of fish in the case. The grocery specialties on the shelves are an added bonus! We pre-ordered via the Mercato website and I ended up spending quite a bit more once I arrived and realized I "needed" a few items off the shelves.

They have good seafood, but coming from NYC I know the price for fresh seafood and they are not only expensive but very expensive i bought 1 oz of cavier they charged me 70 Dollars in NYC I pay 35 Dollars for 1oz. But there's no one else to compete with them so what are you going to do right!?

If you are planning on buying seafood from them for major holidays (New Year's especially), place an order a few days early. Okay, so everyone knows or should know that if you want fish or seafood in the Twin Cities (dead center of a rather large continent) Coastal Seafood is the place to go. They have great daily specials. Wednesday crab deals is my favorite. Look online or call, as I'm sure those deals are subject to change, so don't trust me on that but they are great. The service is always impeccable and the fishmongers can answer anything and everything from how to transport, store and prepare whatever your hankering is. God, I hope they call themselves fishmongers... They also carry a great assortment of hard to find specialty items like a ton of Asian sauces and spices, but the best is some of the non-seafod/fish meat deals they have. I scored the best Duroc center cut pork chops on special. They are frozen, but when thawed properly they retain all that fabulous flavor and tenderness they are known for.

This was my first visit to Coastal Seafoods. I have never had a more satisfying retail experience. I called ahead about what I wanted, which was set aside for me, but had changed my mind by the time I arrived. The staff gave me great advice about alternative selections. I ended up with some excellent halibut and the best cod I've ever eaten. Through it all the staff was warm, friendly, charming, and funny. I'll be back.

The best seafood around. Keep an eye on there weekday specials as they have a new one each day of the week. It is the same reach week so it make it easy to plan. If you can, I would suggest calling in your order ahead of time, especially if you plan to be there around 4-6 in the evening as it can get get busy...they will have it all packages up and ready to go!

Freshest seafood and best oysters in Minnesota. They have sushi grade fish and wide selection of other fish and seafood. They have a live lobster tank and frozen seafood and soup. The staff is very friendly and helpful, they won't shuck oysters but they sell the knife and will teach you how to do it yourself.

I used to buy shrimp at various Asian markets because they were decent and a great value, but no more: Coastal's brown shrimp are the best in the twin cities (like most of what they carry) - I'd rather eat half as many shrimp that are twice as good.

The ONLY place to buy fresh seafood in the Twin Cities, with one location in St Paul and one in Mpls. Seafood is flown in fresh all week and it's the best. We buy 2 lb. lobsters and if available, steamers from here almost every New Years. (I don't know any other place you can buy steamers (Ipswitch). Price varies and is sometimes expensive but it's never failed us, and is well worth it!! Also buy fresh fish during the year - - sushi grade fish, smoked fish, you name it! They have 20% off specials every day, Mondays thru Thursdays all year long. Fresh. Delicious. Nowhere better!! Enjoy!

I visited Costal Seafoods on Dec 31st 2013 looking for some sushi grade tuna for a tuna tartare recipe I was making for New Years Eve. I went in around 4 pm and was greeted with warm smiles and a polite "How can I help you?". I told the young man that was working what I was making and he told me they ran out of the tuna a few hours ago. I've had sushi before but i've never personally worked with the raw, sushi grade fish. I knew tuna was a good pick for a tartare so he could tell I was disappointed when I got the news they were out. Instead of letting me leave unsatisfied he recommended another sushi grade fish, the hamachi. I was weary at first because I don't know very much about fish but he assured me it had an almost identical texture and an even more mild flavor than tuna, plus it was cheaper! I knew I could trust him when he told me he's made a hamachi tartare before and so I decided to go with it, everything happens for a reason right? The results? A HUGE SUCCESS! Everyone at the party was absolutely thrilled, I even had a few people ask for the recipe. The fish was so fresh, beautiful and delicious I was amazed to get that kind of quality in the middle of Minnesota! Needless to say I'll definitely be back to Costal Seafoods for any future seafood purchases I need and I will be spreading the word. The fish was amazing, the service even better.
