We had a fine dinner at Christos. I'd like to talk about the star of our meal -- the rack of lamb. It was so tender, perfectly marbled, and well seasoned. I appreciated that we substituted the potatoes with carrots. Nicely priced for the portion of meat and vegetables they serve. The chicken liver entree was well above my expectations since I'm not a chicken liver fan. It was pretty tasty. I wasn't a big fan of the flaming cheese and the octopus was a little chewy. Still enjoyable. Our service was good and I like how spacious and bright the restaurant was. Definitely going back for another round of lamb.

Here is the best greek restaurant and one of the best Mediterranean. If someone asks me where to try best Mediterranean, Greek, Turkish type of cuisine here is there. Octopus both cold and warm appetizer is great. Calamari, shrimp skewers, gyros and all others I tried, nothing disappointed me as originally coming from that region. The only missing thing is ouzo which I understand due to the liquor license. I always forget to take picture as directly jumping into food!

Staff were super friendly and made me feel at home upon entering. I ordered the warm octopus and the Spanikopita. The octopus was so good. It was big chunks stewed in a tomato sauce. Yummy! This is the best Spanikopita in Minneapolis. So light and flaky with a wonderfully creamy center. Everything was perfectly seasoned. My server was amazing. Suck a sweet lady. I wish I could remember her name. Can't wait to try other items on the menu.

This is our favorite restaurant for super special occasions and we don't mind to drive 20 miles to get there because it' s worth it every time! Taverna platter comes with pita bread, octopus (always tender and juicy), feta cheese, tomatoes, delicious hummus and a cream of eggplants. I love the seabass plate. Fish is incredibly fresh and tasty and it comes with rice pilaf. We also tried the beef kebab and it was amazing. All entrees come with either a soup or a salad of your choice. If you like fresh Mediterranean food, you must try this place!

Finally found a Greek restaurant here in the Twin Cities although in a serendipitous manner after trying to check out Pennisula. The food was prepared well. The warm octopus starter was in a tomato sauce which could stand out on its own. The avgolemono soup had a velvety consistency with sourness from the lemons. The oregano chicken was the highlight of the meal. It was well worth the 40 minutes (as specified in the menu cooking time wise)

A traditional Greek salad consists of tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, red onion, feta, and sometimes capers. You will find that here along with a delectable spanikopita that melts in your mouth but also has the perfect amount of crunch in the phyllo dough. The kids wanted hamburgers *rolls eyes* but surprisingly they were great! Not to mention the piping hot delicious steak fries. thing they're missing is dakos. The service is homey and all the staff are very nice. They should partner with The Olive Temple for olive oil.

So nice to dine again at Christos. Our waiter Jason was so helpful on suggestions for wines and appetizers. We ordered the dip sampler. It was excellent. Loved the flavors of each one. We ordered the Greek wine called Kourtaki. It was very good. For our main course we both enjoyed the Gyros Dinner. Another favorite choice. All the delicious Greek seasonings. Christos is clean, spacious, and excellent service. The owner at the end of our meal came over to us and asked us how everything was. Which we appreciated his interest in our feed back. We highly recommend Christos to everyone who enjoys great food and service. Thank you for all your wonderful service. Looking forward to our next visit.

I've been going to Christos for 35? Years. The food is always excellent. The avgolemono, (lemon rice soup), is fantastic, almost as good as the tomato-badil soup. The lunch specials are crazy good and the evening meals are incredibly delicious. I have never had better hummus, so plan on ordering it with plenty of pita or the Village Salad. If you love ethnic food, stop here. Make sure to say hi to the owner, Gus. Good guy.

This place has been the standard bearer for Greek food in Minnesota for over 30 years. Glad to see they have not skipped a beat. I've been coming to Christos for over 5 years now and have never had a bad experience. The staff is also so great and the food is phenomenal. It is my go to place to bring out of state guests. Cannot recommend it enough!

Christos is simply a wonderful spot -- refreshingly authentic and delicious all across the board. We ordered the Manitaria, Saganaki, Phyllo daily special, and Tavas. Each dish was extremely flavorful and well balanced. Service was laid back and welcoming. Favorite Greek spot in the cities!

We had a larger group go for lunch, some of whom are picky (or less adventurous?) eaters. Everyone found a meal that they enjoyed -- it really was delicious. I felt that the service was attentive, but not overly so. It was relatively busy, but the noise level didn't get too loud. (It might be difficult tomhear in a larger group, however.) A very nice dining experience.

I got the gyro lunch pita. Their homemade tzatziki is the best in town. The flavors of the beef/lamb is authentic. The portion is generous - especially when considering the price (under $10 with fries and a side soup or salad). A friend got the pork souvlaki pita and said it was excellent. We got an appetizer of koupepia (lamb/beef in rice wrapped in a grape leaf). It was good too (though I am partial to a version of this from Iraq). Service was professional and engaging. The ambiance is casual/informal making it a great meeting spot. Free parking next to the restaurant is a big plus in the city as well. I’ll be back. I recommend giving it a try next time you’re craving Greek food!

Had a wonderful afternoon meal here with the family. They even had some really nice gluten-free items. The wait staff was very friendly and the food was simply delicious. The hummus light and delicious and the pitas are addicting. I enjoyed the Gyros plate which came with huge fries. The soup of the day was a cream of carrot, so tasty. The salads before the meal came out really fresh and the dressings were scrumptious. You can't go wrong with this Greek restaurant. The next best thing to being in Greece. I know, I've been there.

Exceptional experience of food and service! Everything is so flavorful and perfect! Their soups are all very good. I ordered the shrimp kebab with pilaf and veggie, it's SOOO GOOOOD! I didn't know rice can be so flavorful , lol. Also our server is super, perfect amount of friendliness, attentiveness . We also ordered 3 deserts, I particularly recommend cherry pie and ice cream tarte , absolutely wonderful!

We are biased since this was our first date location. Food is always great, saganaki is slightly crunchy around the edges and full of flavor. Pastitsio's bèchamel sauce is superb. And they put it on the mousaka! Service has always been excellent and wait staff check in frequently enough to be helpful, but not hovering.

This dessert with cherries and cream on it makes it impossible to suggest another option there is nothing like this in the desert menu. All the other things sound great to don't get me wrong but it's normally supposed to have apples and cheese I think. I'm not sure how many of you have gone here a year or two ago but it is a whole different place high quality staff high quality cooking I went there for lunch so they had different specials and I have the special at the time again this thing was amazing but this desert is on the menu I won't even say you should try it I would say adjust your calorie intake so it's a part of your meal truly amazing.

Best Greek in the Twin Cities, as it has been for many years. The dip sampler appetizer not only has great dips but comes with the best pita in the metro. Everything tastes homemade. The carrots that come with a number of dishes have a dill butter flavor that rivals anything you'd cook at home. Gus, the owner, is often present and always personable. Worth a drive across the city if Greek is what you seek.

7/27/22 Update: Another great experience! I'm not sure what changed, but it somehow got better. The timing prior to the last visit was always a bit off. Normally their was a long wait time between the salad and appetizers, and your main entrees. This time the flow was perfectly timed. Amazingly, somehow the food was even better than before. They have upped their game, and if you want a dinner with great food and great service, you will make it your next dining option. I have always had a rather pleasurable experience when visiting. Excellent service with smiles and willingness to help, well proportioned meal served hot and fresh, and treated like family the whole time. As stated above the food is fresh, so be prepared to have some wait time when you order. The only fault I have ever been able to find, is their chairs. While being quite sturdy, they are horrifically uncomfortable.

I got to try this out with my partner on a weekend trip to Minneapolis. I enjoyed the gyros entree as well as the salad and fries that were part of it. The portion sizes were great and filling; I easily had leftovers for the next day. The service was also fast and friendly.

If you are looking for a warm home style food for the family this is the place. We used to eat inside and it’s a great atmosphere but lately we have been doing a pickup order and order on the phone and they are ALWAYS the absolute sweetest, they do their job very well and have manners. We have always loved Christos. Their food is always quality and delicious. We took some out of town friends there for dinner last Sunday evening. One of our friends has a serious citrus allergy. The server and owner were amazing and spent a lot of time and checking to find an entree that was safe for him to eat. They were so gracious. Everyone enjoyed their dinner.

Me and my daughter were looking for Greek places near by and this place just happens to be 4 min away. We walked in and at first the ambience caught me off guard because it's homey and a full sit down restaurant. I ordered a simple cheeseburger for my daughter and a gyro for me and my bf. Got home....and when I tell you I've never eaten an entire gyro that fast. It was delicious. Simple and full of flavor. First time here and according to my daughter her burger was bussin bussin. I don't know who finished first. I never even saw her burger because I couldn't even look up from my gyro. Definitely will be going back to enjoy the whole experience 100% satisfied

This place was amazing. I don’t typically go to Greek restaurants but this place might have changed my mind. Their calamari was decent. But the winner by far was the milopita. You HAVE to get it. The service was excellent. The restaurant was large enough to feel safe eating indoors.

This is a family-run Greek restaurant located on "Eat Street" in Minneapolis. The menu has many varied classics to choose from, and everything we ordered was tasty! The service was on the slower side but very friendly. The pricing was slightly higher than I thought it should be.... But nothing too crazy. Expect around $15-25 per person overall.

I love this restaurant! I don't live nearby and it's a PIA to get to but it's all worth it for me. I've loved everything I ordered! My last 2 orders were to-go and they were fast, packages well (no spills on the ride home) and with a little help everything was still warm by the time I got home. The restaurant's entry space is big enough I didn't feel uncomfortable being inside while waiting. They are open for pickup, in-person dining and offer delivery via a third-party as of 2/20/21.

Enjoyable dining experience. Really, the biggest complaint is the chairs are not very comfortable. Next time I go, may bring my own cushion, especially for the back. The food was delightful, as was the service. I went because I had been craving saganaki for a couple of weeks, and Christo's did not disappoint. I did have a hard time choosing an entree and settle for a special of the day, spinach and feta stuffed chicken breast in phyllo. It was delicious.

Per MN government order it is takeout only. That said it's fantastic. I had their Gyro lunch with the chowder. Everything was great. The Gyro was almost all meat with a few red onions and tomato slices. They put the tzatziki on the side and give you a good portion. The first time I ate here I have their side salad which was phenomenal. Their fisherman's chowder is equally good.

A hidden gem in Minneapolis. You won’t find a better meal at an affordable price than at Christos. I’ve now been here twice and have gotten lamb shank and tavas, respectively. Both were super good. I’d put up the lamb shank with just about anywhere else. In fact, I find it to be better than the top restaurant in Vail, CO. It’s also half the price! Next time, you’re on Eat Street. Be sure to check out Christos.

The lamb is dry, and the pastitsio is flavorless. Their staffing tends to be good, but everyone had their off day every once in a while. If the seafood soup is on the menu, you should get it. The base is like a chicken dumpling broth but if you're lucky it will have whole chunks of salmon. If you're unlucky... It will mostly just be broth with a couple of potatoes. I'd say it's 50/50 on either option, but worth the coin toss. The house salad is excellent. If you're hungry, I'd suggest the beef kabob and the dip sampler. Still hungry? The chocolate mousse is a good choice. Gyro sandwich is a good choice, but the gyro plate is gigantic. My mother in-law got the appetizer of mussels as a meal because the portion was so generous.

Still our favorite place after 21 yrs of marriage. Ashley and the folks here are always friendly and professional. The food, THE FOOD! It's always scrumptious! I had the Kotopolous which was tender and juicy with a yummy and flavorful mushroom and wine gravy sauce. The pilaf was buttery & fluffy and not oily or greasy at all. The oregano wings were crunchy and tangy with lemon and oregano. The milopitas tasted sweeter and better than the Apple from the Tree of Life.

Absolutely beautiful tabouli, the lunch gyro with fries is enough to feed 2 of me, and the nutmeg custard dessert is literally one of the best things I have ever tasted. My partner got the baklava and that looked just as beautiful.

Wow. My wife and I went here on a whim for dinner on a random Monday and had one of the better meals I've had in recent memory. We had an INCREDIBLY friendly waitress who was attentive, fun, and helpful. We shared a sampler platter that was outstanding! If you visit this place with a friend, do yourself a favor and order The Iliad. It's totally worth it!

They have the BEST food. Always. And some of the best service in the Cities -consistently excellent. My husband had the salmon, which is one of our favorite dishes. There are so few places that make good seafood and Christos makes some of the best. Desserts are always lovely too. And the soups! Amazing soups, though I am addicted to the tomato basil feta. I can't say enough good about this place.

Gus is the owner. He's there everyday, and has been for some 25 years. Post pandemic restaurant food generally is not very good, but at Christos, it's as good as it ever was, because Gus is there.

This place has absolutely delicious food, without all the fuss and fanfare. On the higher end is the lamb shank, which is phenomenal. I’m not prone to ordering gyros at restaurants but there sandwiches are delicious.. the gyro is fresh, and not greasy whatsoever. For me, a must is the rice pudding with cinnamon and yellow raisins. I’ve been in bed and fantasized about it — only to find that they typically close at 9pm(maybe it’s only during the week..not sure). The staff is friendly, especially the manager..whose been there as long as I’ve been going there..which is many years. *Edit: after writing this I took a minute to read the one star reviews. I’m actually shocked that multiple people mention the manager, and one even mentioned the lamb shank. I just don’t get it..

First, the food is delicious and the waitstaff is wonderful, engaging, and doing an amazing job. I realize and appreciate that the state has recently allowed for indoor dining, and restaurants are getting their sea legs back . This evening I felt like I was dining in a cafeteria . The ambiance is dead, and I almost fell asleep. I feel they need to be playing Greek music softly , but festive. I also feel that they should be bagging their pick up and delivery packages in the back of the house and not in the dining area. We started going to Chistos when the pandemic recovery started. At that time, we were displaced from our house due to reconstruction and decided to stay DT Mpls. Chistos, unlike other restaurants, were open and accepting reservations. So glad it was. We've been back 4 times in past 2 months. Everything has amazingly authentic flavor. Portions are large while price is affordable. GREAT combination for all! Above all, the people that work there are the nicest you'll ever find. I left my credit card and they were able to some how find my phone number alerting me that I forgot it. Of course, I picked it up the following day but when I returned a few weeks later I was greeted with, "Hello Mr. Case ...Welcome back." In these days of tough time and limited interaction, it was incredibly refreshing to have such a warm reception. Somethings never go out of style. I'll keep referring and personally escorting friends to my new favorite spot. Wishing the Chistos staff my best in 2021

Longtime favorite for gyros in the city. They are a delicious take out spot or if you prefer dine in restaurant. Parking is a bit tricky but they do have a lot you can use. Price point is actually less expensive than McDonald's for feeding two people. Highly recommend

My spouse and I and another couple shared dinner at Christos on a Saturday evening. The place was busy but we were seated promptly. I started with a cup of hot tomato soup flavored with feta, which was very good after I added an ice cube. My main course was a chicken breast and spinach baked in filo pastry, which I chose because I had never seen it before. It was excellent. I heartily recommend Christos to lovers of Greek food.

We decided to try Greek food at Cristos. We were surprised at the really nicely done interior since the exterior was a bit blah, so don't let that dissuade you. We liked our meal. Our waiter was nice, friendly and helpful. He suggested a cherry pie for dessert with a very persuasive description. We were not disappointed! This pie is heaven and you should ask for it. It's not a regular menu item yet.

I was a regular here (weekly) when I lived within walking distance and it's the only thing I miss about my old apartment. I'm pretty lame and got the same thing (gyro sandwich) just about every time I went. That being said, there was no reason for me to ever change with gyros THAT GOOD. Wow, the meat is superb, the pitas were always on point, and the sauce was heavenly. Plus, the price is great on everything in the menu.

I have been dinning at Christos for over 15 years. The lunch specials are amazingly priced for the amount and quality of food you are served. The staff are all very knowledgeable about each menu item in the event you have a question regarding how a dish is prepared. Love this place!

I don't come often enough. Located on Eat Street at 26th and Nicollet. Casual atmosphere but with white table cloths and soft music make the atmosphere. Excellent service. Friendly and quiet. Ordered tomato soup with feta, chicken kabob with jasmine rice. Chicken was tender. Jasmine rice flavorful with gold raisins. Vegetables were perfect. My friend had cream of mushroom soup - lots of mushrooms, and combo plate of gyro, pork souvlaki and Tzatziki with perfect hand cut fries crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Finished with fresh baklava. Highly recommend.

I'm not a vegetarian but went for the vegetarian plate because I was in the mood for falafel and spanakopita. Both were great. The exterior of the falafel was crispy while the inside was moist and had good texture (I hate when it's gummy or dry). Likewise, the philo outside of the spanakopita was crisp and flaky and the spinach filling was well done and flavorful. I'll definitely make my way back.

I assume it was over the fact that I placed it with Bite Squad, which I'm sure costs them money. If that was the case, the same message could have been given in a more friendly way.

So delicious, filling and comforting! It's not easy to find places to eat out during the pandemic that feel safe, hygienic, compliant with social distancing and that are still a friendly, happy, relaxed and tasty experience...but this was all of that. Christo's is doing a bang-up job of serving their signature excellent and hearty Greek entrees (gyros, souvlaki, falafel, mousaka, kabobs, etc) with warmth and smiles, even as the world devolves into chaos and entropy. Go give them some business!

I should get here much more often than I do. I have never had anything here that fell short of perfect; for dinner or for lunch. Then you add a wonderfully pleasant staff and you end up with the perfect casual dinner date. And it might not be obvious, but the lot on the far side of the same building (beyond the kids center) is for Christos' customers. So nice to hit Eat Street and not have to struggle for street parking.

We were disappointed to eat mediocre entrees after reading so many positive reviews. The lamb Tavas tasted like a beef stew you could make at home. My dining companion liked the shrimp in the Shrimp Myconos but not the vegetables and not the rice, which tasted of cinnamon. (She traveled to Greece this past summer and felt food at Christos was inauthentic.) On the positive side, the tomato basil soup and pita bread that came before our meal were both excellent. We arrived early (just before 5PM) and encountered friendly service and no wait. The food came quick as lightening, which you'd expect with only four diners in the restaurant.

I ordered the Pork Chops Piperato and the seasoning was delicious. It reminded me of the pork chop on a stick at the Minnesota State Fair. I received two thick juicy and properly cooked pork chops. It was a significant amount of protein for the money. It was served with potatoes that are simply prepared. If you get the salad as a appetizer I recommend upgrading to the Greek salad because they add Kalamata olives and other special ingredients to the salad as an upgrade. It is well worth it. Each meal is served with fresh hot soft and tender pita bread.

Christos has been a favorite for many years. So grateful that the Minneapolis location remains open after the St. Paul Deput location closed many years ago. Christo's was good, but not nearly as good as most of the reviews make it sound. If you want a decent Greek meal at a reasonable price, go to Cristo's. However, if you want some real, authentic Greek, like one gets in Europe (we lived in Germany for nine years, so we've had plenty of good Greek - in Germany and Greece), this is not it. My wife and I both got sampler plates and liked 1/2 of what came with it. The gyros meat was the processed kind - not the nice layered pieces one gets of the spit at most restaurants in Greece. The foods just didn't have the flavor that we were used to. It reminded my wife and I of the tourist-trap restaurants in Greece. The service was very good and our wine was great It wasn't bad, just not what we were hoping for, based on the reviews.

I chose to have dinner at Christos after reading the good reviews. My waitress receives five stars for being helpful and friendly. The restaurant interior reminded me of a Greek taverna and I give it four stars. Some Greek music would have upped that to five stars. Unfortunately the food didn't live up to the hype. I ordered the Symposium plate, which was a selection of spanakopita, dolmades and moussaka, over a bed of rice, and I chose the avgolemeno soup. The soup had an institutionalized taste heavy on the lemon and thickeners and light on the rice and nil on the chicken. The spanakopita was in a strange rolled shape that I never saw in 9 years living in Greece and was somewhat bland. The rice and dolmades were okay. The moussaka had little or no bechamel topping and instead just had some kind of tomato sauce over the top. The best part of the meal was the glass of retsina and the galactoboureko I had for dessert. On top of the horrendous parking I only give this three stars.
