Beefy, cheesy, tasty. Good food with several options. I wasn't overly impressed, but everything was good and wasn't disappointed. Was in town for a visit and have family here that are regulars, and with picky eater nieces, that says a lot. I'd like to try a few other menu options too.

Wonderful place for hotdogs and Italian beef - $7-$12 a meal - would highly recommend to try. Pictures are full loaded Italian beef and gyro cheese fries.

Staff was friendly and our order came out in a reasonable amount of time. I ordered a Chicago dog that was good, but nothing I'd necessarily get excited to come back for. I also ordered a side of tator tots that were hot, but lacked flavor (maybe needed some more salt which is an easy enough fix). Overall I think this could be a great place with a unique atmosphere (it was an incredibly slow Monday) if they stepped up their food a notch.

Good food. Small quaint restaurant. We ordered cheese fries because I love cheese. The fries are soooo good that I think I would have preferred them by themselves in order to really appreciate them. I really wanted to try their pizza...guess I will need to return soon.

As a Chicago transplant that grew up on thin crust, this place is a god send. Awesome thing crust with no skimping on the toppings. Authentic beef sandwiches as well. A definite gem in Minneapolis

I don't crave a Chicago dog often, but when I do, CTA ia where I go. I'm not sure how much value this review has, since I only ever get that one item, but I'm giving five stars for a delicious, authentic Chicago dog all the way up here in Minneapolis. Highly recommended.

Always good food! The staff is always friendly. It's never too noisy there, so you can have a conversation with your friends and family without yelling at each other, lol! They have upgraded the look of the restaurant as well. Before, it was like a local Chi-town Sports Bar.(Which was fine) Today, I almost didn't recognize the place! 😁 They had waiters to take our order & bring out the food. What a surprise! They made the place more like a high-end family restaurant WITHOUT the high-end prices! Don't get me wrong, Chicago is still represented with the food! I'll keep on coming here that's for sure!👍🏾👏🏾😁😉

Haven’t had good food like this in awhile! Your roast beef sandwich was SO ridiculously good, french fries done to perfection! Mini donuts was a surprise, super tasty. Had a good experience, help friendly and hard working.Definitely a place to find good ole Chicago style food. When your hands are messy, you know it’s good! Lol!!!

Authentic Chicago style food. Chicago dog was great, hot dog had a really great snap and tasted better than other Chicago dogs I've had outside Chicago. Fries were very fresh and good. My husband got an Italian beef sandwich and he enjoyed it a lot. Would definitely recommend if you are craving some Chicago style food!

The food is always good! I have been eating there since Joey Ds..then Chris and Robs, and now Taste of Chicago's... And the Beef and sausage combo still taste the same! The pizza is good, the service is great, overall a good experience! Of your Looking for a quick bite or a good pizza this is your place for fast service! Everything I've had here has been excellent! I'm sad that the other locations around the cities have closed. If I'm in the mood for a good hot dog, this is my go to place.

The spicy polish was really good. I had the chili as well and it wasn't great, not bad per se just not excellent. Would probably be better with fries as chili cheese fries. My niece loved her corn dog and the prices are very reasonable.

As always, a great place to get Italian beef sandwiches and Chicago style hot dogs. These are no knock-offs--these are the real thing! Just stopped in again today and had their King Beef (with extra sport peppers) and onion rings (since trying then a while ago, we always order rings!). Fantastic as always! I keep finding more and more reasons to stop by. :-)

Wow, what a great experience. I had a luncheon for 24 and called the Manager was very helpful, I got 8 lbs beef and gravy to make sure. Omg, when I picked up the cashier big guy no help, no personality but the younger guy in the back, very helpful, how to warm up and best serve. Food was amazing, tons of compliments, can't wait to do this again. Please use them. They are a gem.

The staff is very friendly and their place is nice and clean and set up for social distance with big plastic deviders in between each set of tables. Staff were quick in cleaning up after customers making sure to use a disinfectant. There is also an outside patio. I can't wait until my next visit because the food was awesome. Chicago style hot dogs and polish. And their menu is nice and not expensive. I give them a 👍

No complaints here. Fries were good. Service was good. I had the Italian beef and my dad had the chili cheese burger. We both enjoyed our meals. They serve beer here which is nice for beer drinkers. Easy on the pocketbook too considering everything is al a carte.

CTA has really upped their game over the past couple of years. The food has always been good, especially if you're looking for a Chicago-style hot dog. But the beer list has become something to brag about, and the remodeled interior feels bright and spacious. You'll find great patio seating as well. The staff is friendly, and there are lots of TVs if you're looking for a place to watch the game.

A go-to place for Italian beef sandwiches. They're so good I don't think I have tried anything else in 25 years of going there. They don't offer them "dipped" which might irk some Chicagoans but they don't really need it so I have no issue with it My kids loved the hot dogs so that's good as they can be picky. A few years ago they remodeled and added craft beer so even more reason to go there.

What you'd expect from a hotdog place. They had a great variety of dogs and pizza. I had the Southside Sausage and it was delicious. They have a few good beers and cider on tap, along with a Minnesota-made root beer. The patio is dog-friendly and the staff came out to say and bring them some treats. I will definitely go back!

Went to Northbound at 530, 45 minute wait and we had time constraints and kids in tow. Googled nearby restaurant and CTA came up. Wasn't packed, got seated immediately and had really pleasant service. Very decent if not outrageous beer selection, but both beers we tried were excellent. We got curds, tots and wings to share and the wings were fantastic. A really nice dry rub with a perfect amount of heat, took a while to come out, but they were clearly cooked fresh which is a plus. Tots and curds were solid. We all got some version of a Chicago dog and really enjoyed these as well. I rounded up because the service was really friendly and fast and we had two kids to handle. 4.5 stars and I will be going back to try some of the other items.

New to the neighborhood and thrilled to find this gem. Hard to believe I haven’t heard people talking about it. Super clean and great atmosphere with the Twins game on. Genuine, friendly service and they threw in a special treat when they heard it was my birthday. And most importantly, the food was amazing! Legit Chicago dog and the Italian beef and sausage combo was insanely good. The bun was so fresh and the meat was perfect. Better than anything I’ve had in Chicago and at Portillo’s! This will be a new regular spot for us. Looking forward to trying the pizza!

The Italian Beef Sandwich is the best in the 5 State Region. I order about 6 things when I go there, because everything on the menu is packed with taste and crunch!! Lately the Chil Dog and Mozzarella sticks have been subpar. Very disappointing. I think both need to be cooked longer. Also the new French fries are pretty awful. Good thing the Italian Beef sandwich still tastes incredible!

Clean, service was great! I ordered a chocolate shake and it was alright. The fries taste better fresh. The roast beef dip sandwich doesn't come close to Chicago's. It's missing some seasoning in the dip sauce or maybe it's the sweet peppers. I don't know. The prices are affordable. OSP parking!!!

The place was full of working locals on lunch break, which is usually a good sign. Great hot dogs. I had a hard time stopping at two. My mom needed a gluten-free option so had the Chicago beef, minus bread. Also great. The donuts are freakin amazing.

If you're looking for a family-friendly neighborhood restaurant, this is the place! I've lived in s. Minneapolis for 20 years and this is my consistent go-to for Italian sausage, chicken wings and friendly atmosphere. I've always received great customer service and absolutely love their menu. Food was amazing! Definitely will be back but they have some major issues with cleanliness of their facilities. Both bathrooms smelled if not so fresh urine. It was bad. But if that gets fixed and the wait staff was a bit more staffed vs running short it would be on point for a 5 star review. Everything we had was excellent food wise however the wait staff looked like they were overworked. So realitively menial things that need to be fixed and we will be back. Also the tater tots and fries were a bit over salted. If I am nit picking (probably too late for that) they could be a bit fresher and crispier. But hey again overall good place to get your crave on.

My first time having Italian beef and it was delicious. Nice customer service. The fries were hot and fresh. The beef was delicious and the bread had just the right amount of au jus to make the bread soft. Can't wait to go back

was at CTA on 8-12-20 and I ordered the Italian beef and the onion rings. Seriously, the best friggin onion rings. The Italian beef was no joke either. The meat was tender, the bread soft, cooked to perfection. Brian was very friendly, and welcoming. Pandemic or not, it was worth my dollar. I will eat there again!

This place is great, there are a lot of options to choose from and the food is consistently good. My favorite thing to get is the spicy polish Chicago style. It is not spicy but has a lot of good flavor. Not many options for gluten free or Vegetarian. They also have a good selection of local beers and an ok selection of wine.

Very clean, polite staff, and the best burger I've had in a long time! The owner was present and I watched him jump in and help where help was needed - from flipping burgers, to taking an order, to stopping to talk to a few high school kids about allowing them to hang up a sign in his store. Veey nice man. Lucas was great too, funny and made me feel welcome when I arrived. This is a must Place stop for a great burger or dog!!

If you are from Chicago this is your place to feel like home in Minnesota. If you love good service and great food this is also your place! The Italian Sausage, Italian Beef (Combo) and Chicago Dog are incredible. Get the combo with mozzarella and hot peppers....you're welcome. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is great! I've eaten here probably 25 times over the last couple of years, and I've tried many of the menu items. First the GREAT: 1. Chicago style Italian Beef sandwiches are off the charts great! Ask for them "wet". I get mine with mozzarella and hot giardinera peppers. I've ordered this lots of times, and it's never disappointed. My mom gets it when she in town as well! A+ 2. The Chicago Dog is great and is the best I've had in town. They use high quality sport peppers and fresh tomatoes. 3. They seem like good people who are trying to deliver great food and good service. The owner is always there, and they are helpful (if forgetful - see below). If I were only reviewing these 2 items above, it would be 5 stars, hands down. I bring friends and family here regularly and ALWAYS recommend the Chicago Beef sandwiches. But they also serve other stuff... Now the not-so-good: 1. I've seen them microwaving French fries with cheese on them. This might be simply to melt the cheese...But microwaves are known French fry destroyers. Nonetheless, their fries sans-cheese seem crispy enough and are seasoned well enough. My wife doesn't even mind the microwaved cheese fries, so do as you will there! 2. Their pizza crusts are heavier than I like ( I enjoy all sorts of think, hand-tossed, NY, and thin crusts). Could be my personal preference there, as I also think Pizza Luce crusts are too heavy... And the BAD: 1. Milkshakes are mass-produced, single serve nastiness. There's probably more guar gum than cream, and they just taste funny. You can do better at your local gas station at a fraction of the cost. 2. They get orders wrong about half the time. If you are getting delivery or takeout, make sure you double check the order! In my experience, they have a 50% hit rate on getting the order correct. Even in house, I've had them get orders wrong and then forget to correct it until I've reminded the server a couple of times. Today they forgot the cheese and sauce. Last time they forgot the tenders.

This place was fantastic! My husband was craving a chili cheese dog so I looked up some locations in the city and we came to this little gem. Nice menu for both drinks and food, and the dogs and polish were delicious. Everyone was friendly and we had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners on our way out. Great spot for a chill date night or would be a perfect place to meet up with friends to watch a game. My only regret is not ordering one more thing. We’ll definitely be back!!

First time here and this place is really cool. Great authentic Chicago dogs! Good Local craft beer and just a general casual environment. Very clean place lots of tv’s. Definitely will be a regular. MIND BLOWING!!! I come from the greater Chicago area and didn't know what to expect the first time I ate here. This doesn't just stand up to the quality sandwiches from back home this place is BETTER. The food has truly raised the bar. Great atmosphere, the guys who run it are AMAZING!!! this truly is a little slice of home and they truly are the Chicago Taste Authority.

Would rate a 5/6 if I could. Best Chicago food in the cities, and they always have great staff and service. Only way it could possibly even be better if the pizza was deep dish, but usually I get the Italian beef or Chicago dog.

I got some sort of a roast beef sub thing it was extremely good but probably 10x too messy, oil and grime everywhere. Good thing I had a box of Kleenex and a leftover hand sanitizing wipe I got at the airport in my car. Had to clean my hands about 10 times fully drenched in stuff. Lol! It was good, just do not order that if you're on a date!!!!

I love the Italian beef sandwich here! Very tasty juicy meat. Get it with the mozzarella and giardinera and you will not be displeased. Get a side of tater tots and you'll thank yourself. Lots of good food here. Chicago dogs, gyros, corn dogs. Lots of meaty goodness. They serve some good beer here too. Good prices on all the menu items. You might want to think about getting seconds. Casual sporty atmosphere. They did a nice remodel a year or so back and it's a nice comfortable place. You'd feel just fine eating here alone or with a big group of friends. Decor is sporty and chicago-y. If you're a Chicago sports fan you will feel right at home.

Food is pretty good, but the service is unimpressive. I called and ordered delivery for a work meeting and the guy who picked up just seemed like he didnt want to talk, but no big deal so I said I would order online. Online stated that it would take around 45 minutes. No sweat considering I ordered about $100 worth of food. I even pre-tipped 15% just because of covid etc.. 1 hour 15 minutes later, food hasn't arrived. I called the shop and that same guy i spoke to earlier with a dull voice was like " the delivery guy was busy and is about to leave." No sorry or anything. The delivery guy actually apologized and was nice. I usually only give five 5 stars but with this experience I think the restaurant can improve. I want to support you guys so hopefully this is just some good feedback. Update: changed my rating because of the response of the owner. I really do appreciate honesty and ownership of things that could have been done better. As a business I understand being perfect is impossible. This once incident is not a reflection of the business but the response from the owner is, appreciate it much and I look forward to working with your business in the near future. Next time I'll be sure to call a day ahead.

Last two times in have been disappointing. First, the hot dogs were cold. Then last time the new employee was preparing food and checking people out at the cash register without changing gloves. I didn't get sick after dining there and felt that was pure luck. Lastly, I've been coming in for 13 years. It would be nice if someone who recognized me simply said hello.

Great authentic Chicago food: Italian beef, Italian sausage, Chicago style hot dogs. It's recently remodeled, making it much nicer looking than it was, with more tables than similar eateries, several TVs etc. The prices are a little too high for what you get. A dude could spend $15 on a modest sized Italian beef with cheese and papers, fountain drink, and fries and still be a little hungry.

I've only been here a few times but it's never been super busy. Service is fantastic and the food is tasty. Nothing fancy, but it's good eats. The sides are a bit expensive considering the sandwiches don't come with any side at all. Small but adequate beer selection

Visiting the area for the next two weeks, already been here twice. Once right before closing and again a bit earlier. Both times everyone was friendly and the service was fast. Not sure what preferred protocol here is for clean up but my party had always cleaned up after themselves since there's obvious trashcans and basket holders... Another group I saw there the other day got grumpy because no one took their trash for them and spouting about terrible service. They were sitting RIGHT next to a trash can how hard is it?? Anyway don't let anyone dissuade you from coming this place is amazing and tasty. AAAAND they feed you large portions. Will totally be going back again before I leave the area. :)

The Fu Fu effect!

Tasted like home. I have fond memories of eating Italian beefs with my older brother in Hastings and it’s great to find a place that captures that moment perfectly. I texted my brother, (who lives in Oregon now), and told him I was getting an Italian Beef. He texted me back “hecking right.” That made me so happy today. This was the highlight of my day. Thanks so much for giving me a great experience! I’m coming back next time for a Chicago dog!

Best hot dogs in Minneapolis in my opinion. This is worth going out of the way for. The menu is just like any Chicago hot dog joint with Vienna hot dogs, pizza and Italian beef. I always get Chicago dogs, but the pizza is very good too.

The food is good, the staff are terrific! The kind of place where people try to learn your name because they genuinely take an interest in you. Only two things: 1) for love of God, expand your playlist. I get you're going for a certain vibe, but always the same 5 songs when I come in. I can't do "piano man" or "500 miles" again. I feel bed for your staff, it must be brutal to hear Elton John so much that you hate him. 2) Take the "super tamale" off the menu. Eighty-six it, it's gas-station gross and not worthy of the place.

Had the beef, it came out a little warm, could have been warmed up more but the flavor was there so it was a good one. Also had a chilli dog, that was good as well but not much actual chilli put on it, put a little more than a tea spoon on there next time? The fries were tasty and well prepared. The real treat was the pizza, born and raised in Chicago I'm a big fan of thin and crispy and they do know how to do that. The sauce was very delicious! A good pie by my chicago standards. All in all this is a good stop, enjoy!

I always get the King Beef w/ Mozzarella & hot Giardinera because it's excellent but I finally mixed it up and got a bacon double cheeseburger. Quite possibly the best in the region. Wow! The dining rooml is really well done. There's also a 50% larger beef (King Beef) on Gonnella bread which is the best in town. Authentic Chicago dogs and beefs and the decorations are Chicago all the way. You will not be disappointed if you want the experience from Chicago.

As a Chicago area transplant whose first job was in a hot dog/ Italian beef joint, CTA is someplace I can count on to get my Vienna beef fix from time to time. The place has gone through a couple name changes since I first discovered it, and recently remodeled to class it up quite a bit (plus add a bar) but it is still at it's core an old school beef joint for the Chicagoans-at-heart, even if those hearts are a bit clogged.
