Great place, great food, great prices, and great service. Can't get enough. My only tiny criticism is that the menu add seen from Google maps isn't complete (can't find the main item I get, torta). And i don't really see nutritional info or calories for each item. With that, I think they should be perfect.

Catrinas, is right across from our Childs Pre-school a chinese immersion preschool. Highly recommended. Now you have two reasons to pull off of Kenzie Terrace, where Lowry ends. Catrinas, runs a system not unlike Chipotle, with a wider choice of Proteins, a wider choice of add ins, and a overall better flavor that comes from being one of a few instead of one of many. Pick Taco Salad, Tres Tacos, Burrito, or Bowl. Sound familiar? Then off to the races. It was friday the special was my favorite Fish Tacos, which came with a coleslaw and special fish glaze. AMAZING! I recommend this place in all ways for all reasons and all seasons. They have a dozen fresh salsas, including a ghost pepper sauce, I swear in the last five years, all sorts of places are bringing the heat, without loosing the flavor! Something new for Minnesota, a place where 'Katsup' and 'Ranch' were considered 'Spicy' I have been a frustrated Hot Sauce nut now for years, with few options, in THAI food that was hot enough, now the Latin food is catching on. LOVE THAT! Come here, try a daily special whatever, you will be back. I know it.

Great and authentic Mexican food. Food is always fresh and made in small quantities. You can taste the difference between their ingredients and those of the national chains. Large selection of meats and toppings and about a dozen salsas including a special daily one. Staff is always pleasant and happy. Great tres leches cake, as well as a couple of other desserts are available too.

The best burrito bowls you can get in north east. Try the chorizo! The daily salsas are always extremely tasty but usually very spicy. I highly recommend this over any of the other Mexican food joints in the area.

It has been a while since I've been back but I low-key hope this place stays just busy enough to stay open but not enough to hamper my ability to enjoy some of the best Mexican food I've ever had when I want....I have a long and very involved history with authentic Mexican food via close friends and family who either travel down that way quite often or were born and raised (mostly) there. So far, Catrina's is the closest to genuine and most delicious contribution to Latin American cuisine in all of the twin cities. There are very few worthy of being considered a "competitor" in terms of quality of the food and the awesome service from friendly staff in the twin cities.

Like Chipotle, but not gross and won't give you food poisoning. The birria tacos are ridiculous good. Same with the tinga and pastor. Authentic and delicious. Cool atmosphere, there is a cute little Hispanic grocery store attached to the building as well. Highly recommended.

Very good..and gluten free items. Queso is a bit spicy for me. Have to try the breakfast burrito on the weekend, hubby says they are awesome. The homemade hibiscus tea is really good. Doesn't look like much from outside but stop here, you won't regret it.

I used to work super close to here and frequented very often. They have a huge selection of meats and salsas. The service is always great and friendly. I love their tinga!! My only tip is to see if the chips are fresh. They can sometimes be hit or miss. Free parking lot and plenty of seating though it can get busy around lunch time.

Fantastic Mexican eatery, as authentic as it gets. Wide selection of Mexican fare provided with desserts and drinks available also. There is ample customer parking available outside and seating inside is both spacious and comfortable. Nachos are a popular dish, as are the corn tacos. Highly recommended for anyone with a love of authentic Mexican cuisine. Very reasonably priced.

I want to like this place. But my husband and I have been there twice and were unimpressed. Tonight we had the fish tacos. They were way overfilled and everything tasted like rice. No flavor at all. The two sauces they added were spicy, but flavorless. The service is fast and friendly and the atmosphere is ok. But the food is so bland we won’t be back.

Food was great! The rice and beans weren't seasoned, except for cilantro in the white rice, but you're given choice of salsa if you'd like to add flavor. Not too busy and we had just enough time waiting to order to pick our food out. Cool drink selections like Mexican Coke and other bottles and canned beverages. I ordered the tamales special, which were underwhelming--not bad, just not as much meat as I may have got it I had ordered something else. Next time I'd get tacos, my grandma got them and they looked perfect. Lots of staff to keep things moving, and it's always nice when you can see into the kitchen to know your food is fresh and clean!

This is my first time here. The cook was helping a couple in front of me while I was looking at the menu. Greeted me right away and said he'll be with me as soon as he can. He then asked if it was my first time and actually got to know me. Also let me try samples of everything and recommended his favorite options. I know it's not that out of the norm, but felt great. Very friendly staff. On top of that. The food tastes amazing. Great lunch spot and I will 100% be coming back.

Second time at Catrinas, first time at this location and it did not disappoint at all. 2 for 2! We ordered four catrina bowls to go and the service was great throughout the entire order. Really good bowls at a reasonable price and that daily salsa has some heat!. Love this place, will definitely be back when we need another quick bite or food for a party! I'm still giving 5 stars, but in my opinion if you could have your reward system be per order $10 or more instead of per visit, that would even more awesome. Keep up the great service and food. Everyone else, stop wasting your time and money at flavorless franchises that charge more for less and come here for some real food!

First visit today; I called in an order for pick up (5 entrees) and got there when they said it would be ready. They hadn't started on it when I arrived so I waited another 20 minutes. In fairness, they had a long line of customers to deal with. Four people got what they ordered and enjoyed it, one (a burrito) was completely wrong. Wrong meat, wrong toppings, and no salsa. The people working here seem nice, and those who got what they ordered liked the food but the restaurant needs to be better organized.

Awesome meal. I’ll go back. There were three of us that went for lunch. We had a breakfast burrito, a pastor bowl, and the nachos along with chips and salsa and queso dip. All of us were plenty pleased with the meal. The nachos were huge! I will be ordering the nachos next time I visit. One thing I will say that could use improvement is the seats. They felt wobbly and I guess a more sturdy chair would have made the experience even better

Quite possibly the best authentic Mexican food I’ve ever tasted! There isn’t very many Mexican restaurants here in Minnesota so I was very happy when I found this place. You can have many options to choose from from burritos, tacos, bowls, etc. Even has desserts like flan, horchata, Jarritos and homemade chips. I thought I reviewed Catrinas already, but then I realized, this is the St. Anthony location. Well, I'll say it about this one just as I do the Oakdale one, it's my favorite spot for quick, delicious Mexican food. It's like Chipotle, except it's better. Like a lot better. Like I don't even feel right making the comparison better. It has something for all tastes, from burritos and tacos, to changing daily specials that never disappoint. Daily salsa that can range from mild, wonderful flavor to mouth melting wonderful flavor. Seriously, come here, you will not regret it.

This is my favorite place for Mexican food. I work nearby and I always look forward to stopping by Catrina's for lunch. They have such a great selection of meats but the best part truly is their salsas. They make their own and every one of them is a delight. The staff is super friendly and it's fast as well, unique because even though it's fast, everything is fresh. Absolutely would recommend this place. Pro tip: try their salsa de arbol, it's amazing!

It's good and has many options for kids too. Flour or corn tortillas are available and I personally like the Catrina bowl. They have patio seating right now for covid too. Bring a mask to get your food inside, but they also provide some if you forget.

This is one of my Friday go-to's! The fish tacos here are amazing and delicious. There's seating but when it's busy it can get a little tight. Also, there's usually a line when I go on Friday, but it's worth the wait!

just a couple things on that leg when they put the meat the hamburger into the tacos they didn't use a spoon that had holes in its all the grease went into the bottom of your taco and the other thing is they're starting to work way too fast like they do at Chipotle they just shovel the stuff on top they don't organize at they don't even at all it is just in one big clumps guacamoles in one big clump everything's in a clump then you got to take a fork and spread everything all you should have to do that so I take your time makeup taco like you would want to eat it. Otherwise I do like the place I like the food it's good

I am so glad a friend showed me this great local place. Portions were large, and a good value for the money. I had the Tinga tacos (chicken in chipotle sauce), which where full of flavor and just the right balance of heat. My friend had Carnitas nachos, and again, my expectations were blown away. Good chips, lots of toppings, good distribution, evenly cheesy throughout, and a heaping pile of meat on top. Catrinas may become a weekly visit for me.

Happened to go on a Tuesday, which, apparently is their slowest night. Enchiladas (the special) were sold out, so went with a burrito. Really great Mexican dishes limited to tacos, burritos, bowls and nachos. Freshly made in front of you with a wide selection of proteins and toppings. Several sauces ranging from mild to ghost pepper based. Their nachos use queso instead of melted cheddar but it works better than I expected.

Owner really is working hard to make this business run. Free samples of the several meats they have for their burritos, tacos and salads. Daily specials. I like the three taco deals. They'll setup the tacos the traditional way if you ask them to.

Better than Chipotle or Qdoba, but it is a similar dining experience. The food here is fresh and has a lot of flavor! I would say that compared to Chipotle or Qdoba, you get slightly less food for about the same cost, but it is worth it. Also, the spicy options have a good kick!

My friend invited me to this spot for dinner tonight. He works down the street and goes all the time. He had actually been there for lunch earlier in the day! He had already ordered chips and a few different types of salsas. One was spicy with an explosion of flavor in your mouth, one was more of a smokey delicious flavor, and there was a pineapple habanero was amazingggg. The employees were very friendly and let me try a sample of all the meats. They all had so much flavor and it was hard to decide. I ended up going with the chicken tinga burrito with the roasted green tomatillo salsa. The flavors and freshness are unbeatable. I will definitely be back to this hidden gem!!! All I can say is wow. I don't know if I will be going back to Chipotle..

This is one of our favorite neighborhood spots. With a kid under 2, we don't dine out much, but this is one of the few exceptions. Our son loves the kid burrito and asks about it frequently. Many of their items are spicy, but the chicken verde is the most mild. Combined with the Mexican rice, tomato, cheese, sour cream and guac - the kid devours it, with leftovers. My husband and I usually get burrito bowls, switching up the proteins: they're all good! Love that they added eggs for the weekend breakfasts. For years I'd been saying Chipotle should do that, but we rarely go there anymore ;-)

Catrina's is what chipotle wants to be. They use the same subway style build your own burrito concept as chipotle but with the small difference that everything tastes way better. The food just has an authentic flavor that keeps you coming back. I love mixing the carnitas with chicharonnes personally. Many aren't adventurous enough for the chicharonne but those who are don't regret anything. Fear not, they will give samples of anything that you aren't sure of before putting it in your food. The cherry on top is the amazing selection of house made mild, medium, and hot sauces including 1 rotating hot sauce of the day. Enjoy!

Nice little taqueria in an unlikely spot on the edge of St. Anthony and Nordeast. Off the beaten path away from the busy Central Ave eateries, this little gem of a place is so nice! The food is a little better than Rusty Taco, offering the more authentic meat picks such as al pastor, tinga, y chicharron. The claim to fame here is the custom salsa bar where they make fancy salsa LS from scratch. The ambience is "El dia de la muerta." I can't say I've seen any taqueria in the city that paid attention to vibe, except perhaps Maya. This place FEELS fun, and the food is good. When I'm headed to St. Anthony this would surely be a stop now!
