Reviews of Benihana
A great experience and a fun place to go! The food is very good but not exceptional. Also the prices there are quite expensive for what you get. They also include a 20% service fee on everything plus excessive liquor and wine taxes. We ordered 2 drinks at the bar before being seated. One was a prickly pear and the other was a rose sangria. They came in short glasses and the tab for those 2 drinks came to $37.00. Yes that's right.... thirty seven dollars! Yikes! 😳 We each ordered an entree and 1 beer and the final tab for dinner came to $110.00. So just short of $150.00 for 2 people. So again it was an entertaining and fun experience but way overpriced! Not a good place to go if you're on a budget!
I’ve been to Benihana many times and each time the food is great. We have dined in, both with and without the cooking show and we’ve done carry out as well. We’ve also made reservations for the party room which is nice because the door closes so you have more privacy. They also gave my parents a nice complimentary dessert when we went to celebrate their anniversary. The best part? The show is so much fun and there’s something enjoyable about watching someone make your food. The worst part? Although most chefs will do the same show, sometimes we’ve gotten chefs that aren’t as much fun or not very enthusiastic so it’s not as exciting. You won’t know what kind of chef you’ll have until you get there.
This place is amazing. We attended in celebration of our niece and nephew birthday and graduation. Most of our party never had a Hibachi experience. Chef Carlos was the best! All of the food was cooked well and he made everyone laugh hard. Highly recommend!
It's really hot in there. They didn't have enough staff waiting on people. It took over 30 minutes for drinks to come out. The food was good and cooked to my liking. I always get the trio and I ask them to put teriyaki on my chicken and steak. Just a recommendation
The sushi was on point, but the hibachi portion of the meal was very lackluster! Luckily there is always shrimp sauce…and if it wasn’t for that then it definitely would have been a miss. Nice staff experience for them seemingly being short staffed and my hibachi artist was decent nothing spectacular which doesn’t make sense because you eat hibachi for the show in part, or at least I do…
They have the best fried rice no debate!!!!!!!!!! The las vegas rolls is my usual that order 9/10. The zucchini was crunchy and tasted good 7/10. The steak was well done 8/10. The chicken cubes was mid 6/10. The Virgin piña colada was the holy of drinks, never gets old and i drink it everytime 10000/10. I give the service 9/10, i docked one point cuz we waited for a long time although we made a reservation ahead. I give the chef 11/10 he was perfect.
Went on a dinner date with my friend, it was the best experience ever. Order sushi, dimsum , teriyaki chicken , omgggg it was soo amazing!!!! The punch bowl , the sake , etc was legit! Dont have pictures of the food but must visit!!
Very average Japanese restaurant. Well located with ample parking space. Staff is not particularly friendly. Our party of 9 ordered a combination of tepanyaki and sushi. Food was delicious, chef entertaining. Place was very noisy and not so clean. My order of 6 kinds of nigiri came on 6 little plates instead of 1 big platter; strange... Prices above average.
Best bar service ever in this establishment thanks to my great server Von. She never let me want for anything we watched the game and had an awesome time 🎊
Let's get into this customer service! Our chef AND our server's names were Daniel. They kept us entertained, our drinks and food choices were accommodated, and I almost caught food in my mouth 😋 I got the salmon with the yak......shrimp-fried noodles, and I was able to eat on that for 2 whole days!! Clean dishes, clean atmosphere, friendly and warm. Thanks guys, will be visiting again!
Terrific food tonight but the chef wasn’t all that into the showmanship. Aside from that the service was awesome and like I said the food was was terrific! One thing I always forget about Benihana is the huge quantity of food you get there! Salad, veggies, onion soup, fried rice, white rice, steak, shrimp - and on your birthday you get ice cream too! Had a fun time there with my family and would highly recommend this location. Normally their chefs are VERY entertaining!
Service was ok ( the table was shocked a little put off when the server told us she would only recieve 5% of the 20 % sevice fee and she could only accept cash tips ) food was good shrimp appetizers was almost 2 shrimp ... not sure why ?
Definitely one of my favorite places. Really good service, food was so tasty.
Food was good, staff was friendly.
They are now charging a 20% service fee, of which the staff get 5% (according to our waitress)... plus they want a tip.
Dinner for 4 with no apps, it alcohol was $259.+ with tip (of which the service fee made up $39). For this price I will look for alternative place next time.
Also we had a person in our party with food allergies... they eventually got it... but first (and always) they suggest that the food be made in the back. I would think they know by now, part of the fun is having your food made in front of you... the show if you will. After a few minutes they figured out how to do it. Or chef was great and cautious not to make a mistake.
Service could have been better. It seems they are suffering from a lack of staff.
My one complaint. They say on the menu that tea is included and then they charge for the tea when you ask for it. It was a small amount and since the server didn't want to deal with this question it came out of her tip.
I feel you should update your menus and pricing if you are going to charge more and don't hide behind service fees and charging for things that you say are included. Send there listing on Google should be upgraded to $$$$.
Went for my birthday. Had a wonderful evening, the hibachi was fun and delicious. Haven't been in a long while. The waitress was great and was very attentive - never had an empty glass. Thank you for making my celebration fun!
It's always good food. But getting hit with a 20% service fee AFTER you order food and get the check was not okay. We were not aware there was a 20% service fee and the server told us if we want to tip them we need to tip in cash. There was no place or option for a tip on the check. Any business who hides a service fee until you get the bill is not a place I will ever visit again. It's a scam, plain and simple and I highly doubt the staff is getting 100% of that fee as they are required to. Raise your prices then, don't hide fees on the bill. We were not expecting a forced $20 extra and we still had to leave a cash tip on top of that!
It's illegal to take any of that service fee and 100% better be going to the staff. If not the staff should contact the department of labor and report wage theft.
We all really enjoyed our dinner, which was prepared for us by my son. He was a participant in the Be The Chef promotion. He received a couple of hours of
1 on 1 training and then in front of us he made our dinner. What a great way to enjoy the good food at Benihana! We all had such a good time and a great meal.
This was a Birthday gift for my son,
that I don't think he'll ever forget.
Thank You Benihana!
We had a lovely experience at Benihana! We visited for a family member's birthday, and everything was just perfect. Our chef was flawless, the food was amazing, and the atmosphere was so inviting. The staff even went the extra mile to celebrate the birthday with a song and a birthday dessert. We will be back!!
The server didn't stop by very often and was very inattentive. The hibachi chef made good food but rolled his eyes when someone asked for more sauce. It would have been nice to get water refills and have soy sauce available without having to ask, especially since our server didn't come by to check on us until after we were all done eating. Not worth the 20% service charge that was automatically added to our order.
My boyfriend took me on a date to Benihana’s. It was the first time eating there. I had a great time . The chef made it exciting. The waitress was ok our drinks were empty for awhile but we called her over for a refill. The portions were just enough. Will try and return when we visit Minneapolis again.
We indicated that our reservation was for a special occasion. The food, drinks, and hibachi chef were amazing! Unfortunately, the service wasn't. One drink order that was placed 3 time never arrived and the entree's that included ice cream/sorbet didn't arrive. We were presented with our checks and new silverware was placed next to the hibachi. This is NOT our typical experience here. It didn't ruin the night, just unfortunate.
Food is always incredible! Had Rafael as our chef today and he was so kind :) Justin was also an amazing host! We come pretty often and it never fails to hit the spot- we will see you guys again soon!
Great fun and food! Shawna and Rafael were outstanding. We had the manager come to table to tell them how great the two of them were. Memorable for sure! Expensive!
I haven’t been to Benihanas in years and I couldn’t have had a better experience than I did with Monica as our server. Not only was she extremely attentive but she made the experience amazing with her sense of humor making it enjoyable for everyone. Then to find out it was her first week on the job, I was blown away. Monica you will make me come back again!
they were short handed. we had reservations and we still waited at our table for an hour for the chef to come and make our food. the food was really good and filling. even took my leftovers home. even the next day warmed up was good.
I went here for a date night with my husband and our server Monica was such a pleasure. She was efficient, friendly, funny and courteous. Most servers are overbearing when you cant decide what you want to order but Monica waited patiently and gave some great recommendations .Would definitely come to this location more often.
I will say the atmosphere at Benihana is always a fun time for all. The food is very good and well proportioned. It seems to be the place everyone goes for the birthday celebration. I just want to warn everyone what they don't tell you upfront, "20% Service Fee" added to all tickets over and above the tip. They state when walking out the door that staff gets some of the proceeds. This seems like a very sneeky way of not raising prices? Service charge and a 20% tip equals an additional 40% of your costs, please plan ahead. Like everywhere service has declined because of the lack of staff, expect long waits also.
I'll give it 3 stars because the chef was good and the food was for the most part okay. But the noise, the support staff with a thousand yard stare, the impersonal feel of the place. Benihana is not a restaurant, it's a factory and you're on the assembly line. You must be processed as fast as possible to get the next batch processed. I'll never go here again.
The cook was amazing the server was kinda crabby or something. We were seated with another family and didn't want desert but had to wait there until they were done? Otherwise good food nice atmosphere
Mediocre food for sure but Shauna (Shawna?) our server was super nice and friendly! Also Otinvio (? Not sure on his name sorry) was such a fun and entertaining hibachi chef! Fun times
The food is always great. Theere were about 6 other parties there celebrating a birthday so it definitely seemed like that was the birthday spot. Our chef, Angelo
The food was pricey, but delicious and worth every penny, we had a blast with the chef.
Went to celebrate my birthday! Enjoyed myself but was disappointed with the 20% service charge that was automatically added to the bill. It was not the tip for the server and we couldn't figure out the reason for the charge. The birthday coupon should have stated that it was just for looks, since the $30.00 coupon was exchanged for the 20% service fee.
Excellent dining experience. Waiter was very personable. The manager on duty gets an A plus. We dined at 6 p.m. on Feb. 17, 2020. He was asking to make sure everyone's service was good. He was assisting the waitresses and as we left we saw him shoveling the front walk so people exited safely. Htest experience as we were from out of town.
Why am I really rating this 5 stars! Well I'll tell you why, it's because they have systematically made it the exact same every time I eat there. Are there small changes? Okay yes, one guy will do a choo choo train while the other guy does a volcano. But what I'm trying to get at is the food. It is always tasty and sizes are the same. This is that a chain restaurant that is all over the nation does. The hibachi is on point every time and the sushi is fresh with tons of flavors. Do they add butter to just about everything? Sure, but why do you think everything is delicious. I'm a big fan of the combos like the steak and shrimp, or scallops and lobster.
The food was good. We had the lunch combos so the portions are a bit smaller than usual and we didn’t sit around for the “show”. The shrimp sauce is what makes the meal. Only gripe is that the tables and restaurant is not always the cleanest place. Sticky tables and menus.
Would not order the family meal again (small portions) but would order fried rice for 2 huge for $15
a bit on the higher end of what I would want to spend for a birthday dinner. Was definitely worth it. We plan on going back soon.
We just had a very enjoyable experience at the Golden Valley Benihanas. Our chefs Leo and Daniel were fun, involving our birthday kids in the food prep. Our server, Daezanae was fantastic, keeping our drinks refilled and attending to our group of 11. We dined at 11:30 am allowing for excellent service at a good time of day. Thanks for making this birthday lunch memorable.
Had a great experience on new year’s eve! The chef did a great performance and was very nice.
Wonderful place to have a special dinner with friends. Great food & good entertainment for a birthday celebration 🎂 🎈! I recommend the scallops. Two others in our group raved about the shrimp. A dining experience not to be missed 😍 …
This place compared to Osaka Roseville should earn an extra star - 6/5 instead of 5/5. The food here is well worth their price. You get almost the same amount of food as Osaka Hibachi, if not more. I barely finished my dinner course meal. Our chief Sergio put on a great show that was entertaining and amusing. The hibachi price for a holiday event ranges from $25 - $60, so it's quite expensive compared to Osaka.
Excellent food and service! Probably one of the best places we’ve eaten in a long time and we eat out quite a bit. Also a really fun atmosphere. We will be coming back!
I give this 3 stars lightly as the food and service was wonderful. What I am not okay with is the $14.00 drinks with very little liquor (felt nothing after both),
20% service charge (only 5% goes to the server) when you come to place like Benihana you expect to pay more for expense cuts of meat and seafood cooked to perfection. Which we had!
I am pretty sure most other places make drinks much better in my opinion and charge a quarter of the cost. Not sure why you decided also for what and who we tip.
Our 150.00 bill had a $25.00 service charge, and two drinks cost me $30.00 what??? Seems outrageous over 50.00 for barely anything.
Not happy with this charges and will have to plan occasions elsewhere.
People work hard for their money and to gouge is no good for business.
Benihana is great. There are tons of choices of both drinks and meals. The food is always great. The show the chef puts on as he cooks your food at the table is fun. It's a nice place to get a group together for an event or just to get together.
Great food. Hot foods fried in front of you. Reserve at least one day ahead.
Expect if your party is not exactly 8 to have strangers sit with you at your table.
A party of 4 can expect bill charges of $150 plus tips.
A little overpriced for what you get. Especially if you're not at the hibachi, you're still paying that same price without the entertainment. Hearing all the tables slap around the spatulas on the grill can get pretty annoying quickly when you're trying to have a conversation. They should really separate the hibachi areas from the traditional tables.
Great food, great atmosphere, welcoming! I took my Daughter here again as it's one of her favorite places. Be prepared to spend about a Bill. But it's worth it!
We went to this place for my birthday and our waitress was very rude and the soup didn’t taste very good.
3 gentleman seating with us end up leaving the place .
Great meal! Bring cash for tipping (new policy applies a 20% surcharge for dine in). Amora the bartender was killing it!
I always enjoy the food when I go! I was skeptical bringing my kids because they're so picky but they loved the food and really enjoyed the soup; our server was great!!
Good food. Good service. Adequate parking. Not a welcoming vibe to have the MN statue posted on door and host stand saying they can add a 20% fee. I'm staying away from those places. Just up the price on menu.
Awesome food, had a great time for my 30th birthday, and our server, Monica, was super cool!
We just left and the chef Arturo was great the food was really really good!!
We have went a few times in the past 3 months. We had chefs Angel and Edgar the times before they are really good as well. We enjoy coming here to eat. The prices definitely went up. We came with our birthday gift certificates last time and usually a certificate with cover a dinner. Not anymore😔 The only negative but like everything else prices are up everyone's short staffed. Great service still you can't tell they are short staffed.
Benihana is always good! We love the scallop and steak special! And you MUST get the fried rice it’s amazing! My favorite sauce is their ginger sauce I even put a little with my rice! I dip everything I. That sauce from my scallops, to steak to veggies!
A very intimate and cozy venue for Christmas Eve or other holidays with friends or family. There is a very solid holiday menu with some new spins on your old favorites 😊. Be sure to try an upgrade to the special “spicy” fried rice; it tastes amazing! Our server was busy with 2-3 sections so I’d like to say our 3 hour meal was not ideal, but he was really moving and his effort was clear and service was quite congenial. Angel our Chef prepared our meats/ seafood to perfection. My son was very pleased with the freshness and texture of his sushi roll. Overall, this was one of the best Benihana visits to a Minnesota location we have had. As always, we were greeted with a smile, had excellent service at the bar while we waited for our table and met some wonderful people dining around the grill. Benihana is always a great dining option.
Was a fun and tasty meal. I little on the spendy side if you are tight with you're money.
The food and service were excellent, as always. I object to the $51.00 "service fee" that was added to the bill, however.
The first time I have been at this location. The food was good but they kept bringing out different stuff then what we ordered. The staff wasn't very friendly. But the bartender did recommend a good drink.
Good is great but management needs lessons in how to treat team members and guests. It was Thursday evening 4-7-2022 our server Sabrina was great. We watched a chef Nicholas at 2 other tables doing a show which was great for them our chef was more mellow just cooked no show. A table next was seated and they were short staffed. Rather than management stepping up and walking over to take drink orders or close out other tables the management did nothing until the group walked out very upset. Management walks around so proud of themselves while you can tell team members are not treated well and not happy. With todays environment I hope t try ye management staff takes note because guests are not stupid and witnessing this type of environment makes you not want to go back.
I would have done 1 star just watching what was going on. The only reason I did not is because team members and the food should never be punished for poor management and lack of respect from management. I hope management reads this and decides to step up greet your guests, take a drink order acknowledgment of guests is critical. But there was none of that. Remember managers the title does not make you king or queen think of your guests and what we all observe while in your establishment. If you want to remain in business I suggest you step up and stop forcing the team members to do more than they are capable of. Other restaurants management hells in times of need for take lessons if you are unsure how to manage.
Good luck to all team members there we as guests feel bad you have to work in an ungrateful environment where management does not respect you. We watched we noticed and many others did as well it was the topic at our table and we were more than 1 party.
If you go to this location good luck go on a night they would not be overly busy and plan to wait because management will not lift a finger so guests suffer when short staffed.
Sabrina the server and Edgar the chef did an amazing job! They were very funny and always checking in. I had a party of 8 for my birthday And they made it a great dinner. Would recommend to any friends and family and I will for sure be coming again.
The staff were so nice and fun. The food was great tasting. The staff remembered my family and I from over 4 years ago. Chef Omar was very good at cooking and the food was tasty. I could not stop eating. I got the food made to how needed to done. Even got my extra vegs without having to remind them that get extra. The service was top notch. Because of these reasons I will come again to this location.
Had a great time celebrating my moms birthday tonight! Sabrina was our server and she managed to never let my water get to the bottom before refilling and had great service! Angel was our chef and he did an amazing job and also refilled my yum yum sauce about 5 times without me even needing to ask for more :) Highly recommend as it is great to have people meet your needs before even being asked to do something. Unreal service from both Sabrina and Angel!! Thanks!
If I want somebody to have a special dining experience, this is where we go. I love the entertainment aspect of the place. Some people may be put off by being seated with random people, but in my opinion, the quality of the experience and the delicious food totally makes up for it!
Benihana never disappoints! Everything is cooked to perfection and the staff is really nice and caring. The thing that I would recommend the most is the filet mignon. It is to die for!!! It is the most tender steak I have ever had and it is one of the things that keeps me coming back for more. The yum yum sauce, as always, is the best thing there and should never be overlooked.
Our waitress was fantastic! The chef couldn't be bothered to make it fun. The folks next to us were disappointed too. The photo was the only thing he really did. He definitely didn't want to be there.
Edgar was an amazing chef!! He was super funny and talked to everyone! And Sabrina our waitress was so sweet! She checked in on us and made sure we were good! Definitely would go back! We were a full group, and we never once felt as if we didn’t have great service!
First time ever loved everything I ate stuff I never thought i would. The chef was great. All staff were nice and friendly.
Went to the Minneapolis Benihana for my 40th Birthday celebration. The whole experience was fantastic!! Our waitress Sabrina was a wonderful server! Very attentive, great personality and she was so kind to our kids. Also, the chef~Leo was entertaining and interactive. And of course, you can’t beat the food~Yummm! Our family will be back!
Waitress took our drink order then left out the back door without telling anyone. We waited for 1.5 hours before manager discovered we weren't being served. Took 2 hours to get food, so the manager let us have anything off the menu for free! And our new waitress and cook were fantastic. Left a big tip because the manager was so nice, and it wasn't the staffs fault that one woman just ditched her job. Definitely recommend.
Went for dinner to celebrate my birthday. The staff and chef were excellent, food and wine was delish, and we had so much fun. I got a special birthday dessert and the staff sang hbd in English and in Japanese. (:
Treated my cousin for her birthday. She had never been to this kind of restaurant and we all enjoyed it.
I went here in the past and it was great, this time, REALLY Boring!!! However, the food was still good though
Are server was awesome. Wish i rememberd her name. Everything was perfect. Food brought out on-time, boxes, sauce containers, birthday ice cream , and picture....she had it all under control.❤❤❤🙏 …
The food is pretty good but the staff are tired to the point of visible exhaustion. If you are hoping for the traditional "show" where your grill chef performs some food tricks and generally entertains the table a little bit, you are going to be disappointed.
(Obviously not the staff's fault, they are working very hard!)
What can I say, the flavors and the food is where it's at. The service was slow due to low staff, but you can tell they are trying. Almost everything is sticky - the floors, the table, the menus. A few other things looked like they could use repair, but we still had a decent time.
Excellent food. Enjoyed the chef cooking in front of us.
Went out for birthday dinner. 7 adults 1 kid bill was $390 not including tip. 3 filet mignon‘s, 1 Diablo, 1 chicken, 1 shrimp and a kids chicken. 4 beers total and 1 glass of wine.
Woman’s bathroom just a nasty mess. I ordered the filet mignon and a good chunk of it was fat :(
The portions have gotten smaller but prices still the same.
Chef was good and funny. Server was nice and funny.
But will not go back. Just to expensive when we can get better and bigger meat at home for wayyyy less!!
Awesome food great entertainment and friendly staff. Highly recommend .
Best yum yum sauce ever!!
Great food, very expensive, short staff, server and chef very good to us!!!
Server was not nice and the chef was boring. Food was decent but not up to standard.
Super crowded. Sat in the bar food was hot and fresh! Great tasting Kirin Ichiban beers.
Always amazing experience while dining at benihana.
They never let me down with food.
Food was great and the Service was Great, even though they were short on staff. Fun experience with family.
Sabrina the waitress was the absolute best. she was so kind, even after she hurt her hand and any reasonable person would go home! plus she gave us free ice cream. also shout out to chef angel who made bomb food and caught most of the shrimp tails. def go here for the amazing staff.
Even my picky children found something to eat that they loved.the chef was great at interacting with them and making it super fun for their first time. I've been multiple times before but had no idea they make a spicy sauce until this visit. Definitely get it!
My daughter and I went for my 84th birthday my daughter and I thought it was the best we ever had we've been there at least 40 or more times. We ate in the bar because I like it more quiet and not so many people. I'm telling you it was great the food was so good and the waiters were, can't wait to come back!
Went to celebrate 3 March birthdays. Our server, Sabina, and our chef, Omar, were both amazing! The food was great as usual, and they make it very easy to use the birthday coupons.
Highly recommend!
Fun place to go with family, food, and drinks is excellent!
Edgar and Sabrina are the best!! Our chef was amazing kept the table engaged the whole meal! Sabrina was always making sure that our waters were filled! Definitely would return
Delicious food, great service. Watching the chef cook on the hibachi grill is always a fun experience. Well worth the price for all the food you get in the combo meals.
It was a good experience. From the hostess to the server to Chef Leo! Food was tasty as usual!
Good food, great service, however disappointed with new policy preventing us from tipping our server after doing a fantastic job.
Good service, great food. We had the shrimp, lobster tail, soft shell crab and chicken fried rice. Good for any special occasions or for a big group.
I had Sabina as my server and she was amazing!!! She got our drinks out super fast and was super sweet the whole time. She made all of us laugh. Great server and excellent food.
Next Level Entertaining. Chefs were awesome.
I have been coming to Benihana or Samurai as it was previously known for the better part of 30 years. The most important thing is to tell you always go for the fried rice. Sure it's an up charge, but easily worth it. People really like the shrimp sauce, but I like the ginger sauce. Give it a chance especially with steak. I like the Rocky's Choice, but the Seafood Diablo and Colossal Shrimp are really good. Overall I think it's great choice for lunch, dinner and drinks when you need a fun experience out. Don't forget you can buy the salad dressing.
We love Benihana. Recently, I have been very disappointed with the cleanliness and service at this location. The last few times we went here, we had to ask the chefs to clean the table more as there was still crusted food on it. Also, the last time the chef forgot all of our vegetables and we had to get it brought out from the back and it tasted bad. Maple Grove is WAY worse though!
8/29/2021- Cook and food was great! Our waiter was rude and got our orders wrong. I went to speak to the manager who was very helpful. Carpet was very sticky.
PLEASE NOTE: YOU WILL PAY BIG MONEY FOR THE FOOD!! TOOK MY SON FOR A BIRTHDAY DINNER $450 !!
Not worth for the money. Chef that came to cook the food wasn’t that delicious for $35 paid for spicy hibachi chicken
Benihana is a great place to celebrate accomplishments and anniversaries. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the entertainment provided by the cook. They did a great job making us laugh.
Same as you remember it being. Pretty fun. Fantastic eats
Took my 10 year old son for his first time. He and I both loved it. The food was amazing and the show the cook put on was awesome.
Great food and great service. Kids will love the show.
I always have a good experience at the St. Louis Park Benihana’s unfortunately this time we had a new server who wasn’t familiar with the menu and didn’t know how to explain it to our table. And with the lack of his knowledge it did cause an issue with some of our guests. However he did do a great job at keeping calm and trying his best to make us all happy. The manager was very understanding as well.
Not sure if they are still doing it… but the two person meal combo was a great deal for takeout!! Totals to about 2-3 two-person meals for just one order. Makes an easy dinner
A classic gem in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Its reliably great food and a fun show to watch. I always have to order the ginger sauce and 2 helpings of the shrimp sauce.
Hostess was not friendly! Gave our reserved table to another party when she said they looked everywhere for us. We were sitting at the bar, 20 feet away! However, we had a marvelous server and chef. The food was great and we will return.
We went early because of the birthday certificate rules & because we had all the kids along. Our chef was Moises & he was a good cook. He entertained the kids & the food was very tasty. Our waiter was Niko & he did a good job as well. I get the feeling he was a little new as another waiter seemed to be helping Nike keep an eye on us & help out. We also had a good conversation with the Manager who's name I remember as Steve.
We chose this location because the Benihana @ the Mall of America has had poor waitstaff the last couple times we were there. Good times.
Awesome place with hibachi grill and true calibre of Chef makes it special. No matter what you are adult or kid you will love the show and end up eating mouth watering foods.
Food was good, chefs were great, not a fantastic experience though, probably due to understaffing and Covid. A lot of drinks we tried to order were out. Server was hard to get a hold of at times. Rating slightly higher since I don't really fault them too much.
Nice server, great chef. It was an entertaining evening. We had a 4:15 reservation and were walking out about 6:45, so for planning purposes, allow time.
The food was amazing, I have no idea what their soup is but I could eat all day every day with their chicken rice, I am obsessed with the Yakisoba noodles with steak unfortunately I've forgotten my togo box with made me extremely sad but we had an amazing server and head chef cook for us. I can't wait to go back!!$
All of the food was cooked well and he made everyone laugh hard. Highly recommend!
Best hibachi and sushi bar in the Twin Cities !!!🍣 🍤 🍗 🥩 🍚 🥢 …
Great food, our server was excellent and checked in regularly. The chef was a master.
Always great. Love the sauces. Making a nice bounce back from covid. Tried tuna for first time it was very good and was cooked just right.
Awesome experience! Very friendly and attentive wait staff!
Great food, great atmosphere, great cooks and servers. The only issue I had was my glass had a small spec of food or something on the outside of it. But that's negligible.
The manager mad us feel so welcomed, but we had to ask for a new server, maybe she had a bad life or a bad day bit when you are serving you have to tend to the customer, we asked her questions she did not even respond to. The manager and the male server made up for her behavior. I had a great time.
How could anyone not give Benihana 5 stars. So fun and best food ever. Quality and taste.
Chef Antonio and our server Sabrina made a great experience with great food. Thanks for noticing every single detail Sabrina from drinks to plates. Antonio prepared delicious food.
First time there, was impressed at everything we experienced. Staff was friendly and helpful. Meal preparation in front of us was fun and professional. Food was outstanding, this could very well be our new favorite place!!
Great food. I had the spicy tofu and shrimp. Super yummy. Lobster was sweet and delish. My kids had the chicken and steak and loved it. The chairs and tables and menus at the bar area were tacky/sticky and dirty. Not what I was expecting. The chef put on a great entertaining show.
Excellent food and service. Been there several times.
Absolutely the best hibachi I have every had. Everything was so delicious and absolutely irresistible. I'm not usually a fan of shrimp or mushrooms but I couldn't stop eating these and that's saying something! I had the hibachi teriyaki steak dinner and for a drink I got the mango colada. My mouth is still watering from this experience ☺️
We go here as a family 1x a year. Food is always delicious, chef is entertaining and wait staff is friendly. This year was a little less from the wait staff. She never came back to refill our drinks - not once! When she finally did come back I asked for refills and she just came with the bill! Maybe next year we'll try a different location.
My first experience going to a hibachi grill, it was quite good! The experience was awesome, especially considering we came in with quite a large group and didn't have the forethought to create a reservation. Wait time was acceptable given the circumstances. The dinner itself was really good, everything was delicious. My main issue was that the portion sizes were pretty small, and the amount of food given for the amount of money didn't seem proportional to me. Still worth it for the experience of you've never been!
Great wait staff and awesome food!
Had quite a long wait when we got here at our reservation time. They must be short staffed but we were understanding of that. Overall the food never fails and the chef was amazing
Always fabulous! I took my granddaughter for her birthday and we decided it was our new tradition even though I won't be able to only go once a year. That wouldn't be enough! The staff is always great! Thank you!
Great food, seasonal options, and new experiences. Also wonderful hours!!
I usually go to the one in maple grove but couldn't get a reservation for 5 for a birthday. But however, the chef that cook the food for us did a excellent job with my food. Will definitely go here again in the future. Hopefully I will get the same chef.
Food was excellent but the service was slow and inconsistent. We had to wait for everything, didn't get our white rice until we'd almost finished eating. But our server was friendly and smiley and new. So, we cut her slack and enjoyed the evening.
This location is great. Main problem with that is the very long wait time. No reservations at dinner time, for 2 of us, we waited approx. 45+ minutes. Food is always good, and the chefs are always fun. Have not tried the bar, only have gone for the show/experience. Would give 5 stars, but the wait time is always long with or without reservations.
Chef could have been more friendly. 20% service fee? Nope, not going back.
I ate here a few days ago with a friend. What friendly staff! Everyone from the hostess, server and chef were absolutely amazing! This location never disappoints and I will be back in the very near future. Thank you to the staff that made the experience wonderful!!
Amazing Experience, every single staff member was extremely kind and professional (:
The food here is amazing. I had the steak 5 course meal. They have high prices but it is honestly worth it. My group had a chef cook in front of us and it was so cool to see the tricks that they can do. It is hard to get reservations that are flexible but once you get in it is worth it. The building its self is very beautiful and the inside is as well.
Our experience here was horrible but not because of the staff or food the people we were sat with were just there to get a free meal they had a complaint about everything from the beginning and they made a scene not caring that my 4 year old daughter was there. However the staff here is amazing the cooks had my daughter laughing they interacted with her and at the end day although the problem people ruined our meal the staff made up for it as much as they could and for us we are truly grateful for there efforts
It was AMAZING. Very accommodating! We went for my mom's birthday tonight and the waitress was very VERY helpful with making sure my plant based/vegan diet was accommodated for. She went above and beyond and I appreciate it so much. Wonderful place to sit down with the family and enjoy your meal.
Good hibachi show, expertly done. The food is great quality and very good. The sushi bar is surprisingly good as well. Average plate runs a minimum of about $25 to $35.. the cocktails are also reasonable but their cocktail menu needs an update.
If you get a reservation your entire party must be present in order to be seated. Bear this in mind.
Overall it's a great place to eat.
Sat in the bar area as it was nearly empty as the wait for the hibachi table was a couple of hours. Loved the chicken fried rice with the yum yum sauce. Since I'm gluten free it's easier anyway to sit in the bar. Server was very nice. Just as good as the Maple Grove location.
Not cheap or fast, but entertaining and tasty. Kids were very entertained by the toss and catch tricks. We arrived early for our 7:30 reservations. We were seated in about 10 minutes. It took a while to get our order taken, and it was about 8pm before the chef arrived. Dinner lasted until about 9:30.
Definitely try the Tuna steak medium rare, it was excellent.
Dispite having reservations and being early we still had to wait until 20 minutes after our reservation time.
The place was quite noisy. The food was ok but plentiful however you come here for the show not the food and our cook was definitely entertaining
The food was great but the wait times once we got to our location were horrible. We waited a very long time for our chef to show up and start cooking for us. Plus there was this super nasty cold wind blowing in the restaurant and almost everyone at our table had their coat on. There was also a lacking between chefs on what they did at each location and ours was just ok at what he did. On the other had the chili tempura roll was dynamite and I would go there just for that roll. Super good.
This is a wonderful place to go grab some good food. If you want the experience make sure you make reservations. If you don't care then just do walk in. 1st time being out since the covid-19 happened and I have to say my visit was decent. Felt weird at 1st because of social distances but overall good. My server was awesome. She works the bar but was also my server. Will be back again for sure!
Food is always great! Can't say so much for the young lady taking togo orders. The lady that gave us our food was right on point though! Please the customer so we comeback! She had it down!
I'll start this by saying this could easily have been 5 stars, but for poor service by the waitress. We arrived for our reservation which was at 430, not seated till 440, no biggie. We were seated and then waited for 30 minutes for "more people". Instead of being a short wait as promised it was a long wait. We finally get to place our order and get our soup, then they bring in 3 people who had been at the bar for 10 minutes already. Why they didn't seat them sooner I don't know, as I noticed them when they walked in. Throughout the whole night the waitress was extremely slow or not even there. Both myself and another gentleman at the table didn't get our rice till 3/4 through the dinner instead of at start, we had to ask a different server! We were given one refill at the start of the service and never see her again till the end. Of course at the end when it's time to get the money she was there non stop trying to gather the check before we had even signed. The redeeming part of the trip was our chef. He was outstanding and attentive, funny and helpful. He was slightly out of order due to a spill but everything else was absolutely perfect. Food came out the correct temperature and with good seasoning. I applaud his service and cooking , they saved this from being a horrible trip in. We do live a bit of a ways away so we will probably not be coming back as the wait made this a much longer night than it should have been.
Overall the place is great! The appearance, the staff, the food, everything! Our waitress Lidia was very kind, patient and informative with the menu. I truly appreciated that since we were 6 in total and my daughters are very picky. The chef, Enrique, was great!! Very attentive and really funny. Always found ways to make us laugh and a great conversation starter. I truly recommend this place. It's great to go with family or just you and your date. Five stars well deserved!
We had a great experience. I am unable to eat soy. The bartender was waiting on us and wasn't sure what food had soy. She consulted her manager Jeff who took over our table and waited on us. He was incredibly accommodating. I would strongly recommend Benihana. We had sushi and everything tasted delicious. They also have tables where the chefs cook your food on a flattop at your table while entertaining you. Good family fun.
Never been disappointed with this location. Tonight was my daughter's birthday. Arturo was an amazing chef! He went above and beyond even spelling out I Love You in fried rice then doing the broken heart for my daughter. She was over the moon!!! The food was superb, as usual, too. We even got a pint of that amazing garlic butter to take home (yes, they sell that)!
The restaurant is very spacious and great for large groups celebrating different events . The food is tasty; the spices blend well. Our cook was not as experienced as I expected . He missed some of the cooking stunts.
Great location with ample parking .
Waitress was really nice. Took a while for our chef to come to the table and he seemed pretty new. Wasn't that great of a show. Wish they would change the routine up a bit, it's the same old show for the past 10 years.
It was very good! We were able to snag a last minute reservation same day by some miracle. The entertainment was great, and the food was even better! Seriously, their steak is to die for. I will definitely be back.
On previous visits we avoided the hibachi seating where you watch the chef's performance as he prepares your meal. At this time that is the only seating available and thank goodness for that because my soulmate and I recently enjoyed lunch at the St Louis Park location. It was an excellent trifecta. Wonderful service, cool entertainment watching the chef at the grill cooking our food, and delicious entrées.... Not to mention the portions large enough to take home some for later...
Get out and treat yourselves to a SAFE lunch or dinner.
Just went to the bar here and that is what this review pertains to (I've eaten at other Benihana's and found the food to be good, not great). The bartender was a wonderful lady who snuck in our order just before happy hour ended, had great drink suggestions, and was very attentive. Bar atmosphere was nice. Happy prices were on the high end of acceptable, but I wouldn't go here to drink just any old night given pricing. Still, nothing but praise based on this experience!
Excellent dinner! Took my 16 year old twins to celebrate their birthday. Two grandma's came along, too. Benihana- Minneapolis is a great spot to celebrate important milestones.
Our waitress and hibachi master were as good as we've seen and we've been to this location at least 15 times over the years. I wish I remembered the names of those that served us well. Can't go wrong, especially when dining with family!
Fabulous service, fun atmosphere but if you are noise sensitive be aware it is noisy with all the table top clanging. Table top cooking with entertainment!
Sign up for their rewards and get $30 off in birthday month!
Super fun to go with friends 2-8 sit at the same table.
The atmosphere, the service and the food are all exceptional. Would come back!
Awesome and very fun chef. Very great experience. Would definitely recommend to family's with young children. They will be very amused with the things the chefs can do lol
Amazing food for the price. Had a hibachi steak well done and it was probably the best steak I've ever had in my life. It just melted in my mouth. The chefs were the next best thing. Their creativity and humor brought my experience to an all time high. 5/5 I will definitely go again on a special occasion.
They were busy for prom and we had no idea when we decided to go. As a mom of two kids under two I finally got a night off and was so excited to go out and they accommodated us in the bar and treated us like Queens! Fantastic service, amazing drinks, and wonderful food. Absolutely a go-to place for us when we want to ensure we have an amazing evening.
I love this place, it is fun, an happy & fun atmosphere.
Waitress was a bit short with us and service time started off great but then got longer and longer after the chef started cooking our food. Waited a VERY long time for ice cream and for our checks to be picked up. Did not like the cap of the soy sauce placed into the food (rice shaped like a heart) for a trick. THATS NOT CLEAN!!! Was UNpleasantly surprised at the $4.50 surcharge for fried rice (did not ask for or expect chicken fried rice:/) Quantity of my food was not in line with $35 price tag.
Really good food and excellent cook
Most of the time, we have a great experience with all of the staff; however, tonight was not the same. The server would forget the salads and drinks and who's birthday it was and just about took a tray of togo boxes away without passing them out. I really hope Benihana starts to recognize how their servers perform. The Hibachi chef, Sergio, was great though. He was entertaining and the food was great as always.
Good Food-Poor Accommodations. The food and chef is always good and an entertainment experience for all. My issue was being seated 8" from a wall with a hot grill in front of me and people packed around the grill with no way to eat my food. It was extremely hot and uncomfortable and ruined the experience. The waitress also had issues keeping drinks filled and the bills were all screwed up. Again good food! watch were you get seated and don't get stuck against the wall.
First time being at a Benihana and it was not the best experience at the beginning. Had a 35 minute wait past our reservation. The supervisor or manager on duty was not very nice about my inquiring about when we would be seated.
Seated by a very kind and welcoming server who took our order. Our chef was very fun and friendly - definitely turned the night around from the less than stellar beginning it had. Food was delicious and fun to watch being made!
Damn Amazing. Omg. Never been to anything. A friend of mine took me there. And omg was freaking Awesome. The food. Omg. Was damn Amazing. Staff was friendly and respectful. Thank you again for the experience
For many years my family patronize the GV location 1-2 X per week. Their customer service has changed ALOT. Our last experience 11.17.20, the young girl seemed irritated that our table of 8 kept ordering drinks as it was a birthday. Maybe they were under staff and she was possibly over work. However, that don't warrant the eye rolls or how short she was with our group. Walking off before we complete our drink order, not clearing the soup or salad bowls prior to our main entrée being served. There was a empty table next to us that we put all of our dirty dishes on.
Thursday is VERY busy, avoid going that day if you can! We waited for around an hour for our cook to arrive. The food was good, portions are extremely generous. I had the ocean treasure. The scallops were great, the shrimp were not particularly large and the lobster was mediocre.
Go for the steak.
The food was good as usual. The service wasn't as good as other locations. We waited a long time for drinks. We waited a long time for the cook to come out. It wasn't busy either. Just didn't seem like there was a lack of urgency. The manager was nice though :)
Very spendy but absolutely worth it if you're looking for a good hibachi place this does not disappoint. Make sure to call for reservations ahead of time as this place is very popular and can get busy at pretty much anytime. Ordered the sea lovers treasure and it was amazing. Lots of options for anyone to choose from. Highly recommend. Big portion sizes so bring an appetite
We made a reservation for 7pm and weren’t seated until 730pm. Also, they seated 11 of us around a table made for 8. We did have 1 extra person than our reservation requested.
Update; the manager was able to better accommodate our group. Lesson learned: make your desires clear when making your reservation and never show up with extra people.
Great place to celebrate moms b-day! Good food, fun people, Samari was very entertaining! Expensive.
They've really got the service situation down to a science! Everyone knew their responsibilities and performed it well! Thank you for a great time, celebrating my husband's bday.
The chefs at the location are awesome. Food is always great.
Sat with a whiney young lady who came in after us and was given a free appetizer because she was seated a little after our reservation.
Doesn't seem fair 😕
Went for a family birthday celebration. Food ( filet) was fantastic, although a little smaller and with a higher price tag then previous.
Even short stuffed everything was fantastic. Food was great. Our cook was fun. Server did a good job.
Don’t go on a Sunday!! There’s a lady that goes there every Sunday Around 12pm She’ll give you an earful of her accomplishments and the world trips and cruises that She’s been on She won’t let you talk it’s almost like she’s looking for an audience to listen to her, I went there on my birthday which landed on a Sunday I wasn’t able to enjoy myself. the staff are really friendly and professional.
Staff really made my daughter's birthday dinner special. Delicious dinner and a fun show with engagement and interaction. My girls loved trying to toss the shrimp tails in the chef's hat and shirt pocket. Good COVID-19 protocol as well.
We visit Benihana for our birthday and other special events from time to time because my husband like the food over the other similar restaurant my daughter and I frequent. However, as someone who also visits other similar themed restaurants, the downfalls to this chain are evident to me and bother me.
First, cleanliness. I can say in general I have an an issue with the overall cleanliness of these restaurants but I will just speak to this location and visit. The grill was dirty when we sat down; there were pieces of food from the last meal which was nasty. When the chef came all I could think is "Don't let that end up in my food, don't let that end up in my food." He cleaned the grill but missed a couple pieces which I even pointed out to him because honestly had it ended up in my food I would not have been able to eat it.
The plates and forks were not super clean, and the table was sticky. It just felt overall gross, and for such an expensive restaurant I would expect a lot more.
The food was ok. The portions were not as big as other restaurants like this who charge less. They don't do a great job at deveining their shrimp (I knew this from previous visits) so I didn't even bother ordering shrimp even though that is my favorite. Overall it was ok. Not worth the over $100 we spent even with 2 birthday coupons... it's just way too expensive for what you get.
Our server was in a constant hurry. She would come and be running away before you could swallow and ask for what you needed. I hate that. We got the service we needed, but again, it was not worth what you pay at this place.
Overall very disappointed, and I will be returning to Osaka in Maplewood where everything is always spotless, the food is cheaper, the portions are bigger, and the service is amazing.
'Til next year Benihana... hope it's better next time around.
I had a great experience! Our Cook Daniel went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied. Daniel had a great sense of humor and outstanding people skills. Thank you Daniel! I definitely recommend Bebihana in Golden Valley!
The cooks are def the highlight of the experience. Ours happened to be friendlier and gave better service then our server. Food was great but you're def paying for the experience. I thought it was quite overpriced personally. But I figure people know that before going there.
It's been a while since we've been to a Bennihana. I love their baked sushi roll. The hibachi is entertaining and we had fun and of course the food made in front of you is delicious. If you just want sushi most other places are just as great. We got a couples of delicious mango colada frozen drinks and split the hibachi teriyaki chicken as well as 3 sushi rolls for about $100
The first time I've eaten out since covid. It was my daughter birthday and going to Benihana was a excellent choice.
The food was Great.
The cook was excellent
He had new tricks that was very entertaining
I recommend Benihana
To every body.
Good steak bites!! And sharp knifes but there so damned twitchy and always flinging onions and little bits and pieces of what they call meat everywhere I thouh I was having flashbacks of having flashbacks that onetime at Gary's house yeah Gary he's a real hoot that guy.
This particular location is very nicely designed I think better then maple grove the food was great as always drink service could be a little better but short staffing issues it was understandable
My first time I Love it there ❤️ I would go again 💞😊💖✅👍
First time, thought it would be a bit more of an experience. Good food, not great, location is in need of updates. When attempting to sit at a table, not hibachi, the hostess gave us the impression that she was doing us a favor, even though the tiny normal seating area was empty, Hmm. Overall, an underwhelming experience. P.S. They use fake crab in their sushi.... really? Why?
Had a great birthday experience. We sat for hibachi, but 2 members of my party didn't come, so a random couple ended up joining our us. The waitress took a picture of my entire party and gave use a copy for memories. Order the fish bowl, just remember that it's recommended to be shared between 4 people.
Amazing food and service!
Great place for special occasions.
To get “full experience” make sure to reserve a table. The cook will come and make the food in front of you with a nice show elements! 🔥
Not cheap! On average 40/50$ per person. But if you order 5 or 6meal specials - totally worth it.
Did not get all my food, rice was omitted.
Chateaubriand was absolutely delicious and the cooking show. My 10 year old granddaughter was so impressed. She said this was the best birthday dinner ever!!!
I love the experience and food at every Benihana I have ever visited. The shrimp sauce is the best at the MN locations. Great place tp bring kids too so they can see the chef's skills. I eat at Benihana multiple times a year. I typically get the chicken and shrimp combo and I am always satisfied.
Friendly employees, awesome chefs, awesome food even if you don't eat shrimp, sushi etc... always a great time..
Food was great, i can't believe how hard it is to find a parking spot. I had to park a block away.
My fiance had never been to a hibachi grill before. We went early afternoon and got a table to ourselves. The chef was excellent as was the food! (And service is always excellent when you go to dinner at 4 pm.) Thank you!
My husband and I just had a delicious late lunch at the Golden Valley MN Benihana. While we were there, a customer completely lost their mind about what they claimed was bad service and bad food. Lots of yelling and cursing. The staff handled the situation perfectly, staying calm and professional in a situation that anyone in customer service knows cannot have a happy ending.
I've been on both the giving and receiving end of poor service and there is no situation that warrants such behavior. Thank you to the team who comported themselves well. And thank you for the flawlessly cooked scallops and phenomenal vegetables. I will definitely be back!
Took my husband there for Father's Day since he had never experienced tepenyaki cooking before. He was amazed and thoroughly enjoyed the food and the entertainment. Fun chefs with a good sense of humor. Love how they make art from their work - a fire-breathing dragon made from eggs?! So cool. Only one little complaint....the seating is kinda cramped, especially when you are sitting with people you don't "yet" know ;)
They have lessened the potions and now you pick between soup or salad. You no longer get both. Once the table is full you wait so long for the chef to come. The waitress had a smart mouth & didnt give any eye contact.
Not a great experience this time. We came in pretty late for hibachi so kinda seemed like everyone was ready to go home which i get. I ordered a plum wine, they were out which was disappointing. The rice was undercooked and crunchy. There were also these girls at our table that ordered something super complicated which caused the rest of the table to have to wait for our food which was not Benihana's fault but maybe there should be a policy on special orders that they come from the kitchen not the hibachi cuz it was loud and the cook had trouble hearing and understanding their ridiculous requests. I also ordered a cider and the waitress didn't know what that was... idk do people not know what hard cider is, is that weird? And after i drank the entire cider, whatever brand it was i dont know, there were these black flakey things sitting at the bottom of the inside of the glass. Gross! On a more positive note the chef was good i ordered filet mignon which was delicious and cooked beautifully and i always enjoy the shrimp and veggies. Management was also friendly. Probably won't go to this location again I'll more likely be going to Maple Grove for my Benihana visit very rarely do they disappoint.
Definitely a good place for a special occasion. But, our server was slow, and only asked if we needed a drink once.. I had to ask someone else to get us a drink.. This was a two hour event..
This place is awesome! I like the hibachi style cooking and the wild cooking performances! Being that some of my friends and I had food allergies, I was extra focused on the grilling area. I have heard a few stories of people having allergic reactions, but our service was awesome!
Take out was on time but it seemed like it wasn’t the full portion. I could have been extra hungry but I feel like you receive more when you dine in. Give the front door staff more help or more breaks.
The place was kind of falling apart cosmetically. The parking lot and exterior are in rough shape. The inside was a bit dirty. There was just a dirty kind of vibe. The food was pretty good but it could have had better presentation. It wasn't the worst but I won't be going back either
First time at this one vs maple grove. The overall may seem clean but it just had a nasty sticky vibe everywhere. Food was visible still on cooktop from last diners. It was on multiple grills. Floors were just nasty everywhere. Front guy working host stand not friendly at all. Waitress was fine. Cook was not very engaging like the others around us but he seemed just very focused like he was new or was shy. Food was good. Drinks took a long time. Why a security guard? Didnt feel rushed. Probably will stick to the mg location. Need a better walkway to entrance for elderly. Liked the lady coming around getting old dishes but she took my soup before I was done. This was my experience.
Always good food, a bit overpriced maybe, but always fun for the kids. Our chef was really skilled and entertaining the last time we went!
Nice atmosphere. We tried the cream cheese wontons and potstickers they were really good. Didn't care for the calamari. I also ordered the orange chicken and it had good flavor but not enough sauce.
Great experience, went there for my birthday, as all of the other people at our table were there for their birthdays. We got to know each other very well.
Our Chef was creative and handy with the utensils. And the food was delicious.
Great decor and our bartender did a great job. We decided to celebrate dinner here for our 8th anniversary and the Shrimp sauce never disappoints. Would return in the future.
Food is good, hibachi show is also nice and the place itself looks much better after the renovation. Weight staff is not the best but I've seen improvement over the past few years. Weekend lunch specials are awesome :)
Food is always good. Host was rude and service was slow, but im assuming that's because they are short staffed
Bathrooms smelled like a zoo, both men and women's. Need a deep cleaning deperately! Bartender wasn't friendly at all. We got there early for a birthday celebration to have a drink, she was really rude. The server at the table rushed us through the experience that is suppossed to be Benihana. She forgot the glass of wine that was ordered so I went to the bar to get it. We had fun because we always do but no because of the experience there. Sorry Guys, you need to clean up your act big time!
Love the food. Shrimp is my favorite! Customer service isn't the best. They hardly answer the phone and when they do I get hung up on after saying hello. Not sure if they have phone issues or attitude problems. Either way the food is too good for it! Lol
Our initial experience upon arrival was very poor because of a miss understanding with seating. But it was quickly amended by our incredible Chef Carlos! A negative experience turned into a positive and was the best time we have ever had at Benihana! Thank you!
We went there on Wednesday night and it was awesomeWe haven't been there in a while we sat with two other couples and us shared the table and it was awesome it was a great experience the food was amazing and the service was unbelievably great!
The service is never consistent. The teppanyaki chefs seem bored. The food is good. Neither the sushi nor sashimi is the best in the metro. Every time we have been there there has always been something not available. Last time it was the soft shell crab so we could have neither the appetizer or spider roll. Disappointing as it was an 18th birthday and high school graduation celebration. Also, why bother having a reservation if you have to wait 20 minutes beyond the reserved time?
The servers were great! Food was awesome, per usual! The grill was not turned on, resulting in a 10 minute wait. The manager copmed our appetizers and gave a discount! That went above and beyond in my mind.
The seating was so tight my husband and friend couldn't pull up to the table to eat. The Golden Valley location seems run down and overpriced. It was like a conveyer belt getting us in and out. And they asked for our ID for every drink order from bar to table. It got old when you're around 50 years old. I would go to Osaka or another Hibachi grill before going back to Benihana. Food was good except for the lack of vegetables. Service was distracted and rushed.
had lunch with a work group and was thoroughly entertained by the chef at our teppanyaki grill. put on a great show and was an even better cook! food was excellent, service was quick but not rushed. I plan on coming back.
I Really Enjoy this place, It's one of my favorites. I Enjoy the Food & Sake, & yumyum sauce, the garlic wings.
Super fun experience. Much more fun to go with a big group. The wait is occasionally a little longer than I would expect with a reservation. Parking is easy, and the location is easy to get too. Would recommend that you try it at least once for the fun of it.
Excellent food and service. Wonderful atmosphere. Would've been five (5) stars except the hostess was condescending and rude. For faster seating I advise making reservations.
Benihana offers classy packaging for take-out orders.
We really enjoyed our meal in our recent visit to Benihana. Although it can be a bit awkward sharing a table with other parties, the food was delicious. My only complaints are that the waitress wasn’t very attentive with regard to drinks and we found having an armed guard present to be really awkward. Is the crowd at Benihana so rough that they need armed security? Probably wouldn’t return to this specific location.
Food was great, but the area we sat in was very cold.
This location is the best. We come here a couple times a year and it's always great tasting food. I heard a story that the yum yum is slightly different here due to them keeping an old recipe. Not sure it's true but I do think the food is better than the MOA one.
