Reviews of Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar
Mel Brousseau
I've wanted to try this place ever since it opened. It looked so pretty from the outside, and it truly is a beautiful space inside. We came here for lunch, making an online reservation with ease, which was followed up by confirmation texts. We started with the biscuits, which were absolutely amazing! I highly recommend having them with the butter, jam AND honey. All three pair perfectly! I had the Fried Green Tomatoes, and really enjoyed the grits that came with it. The goat cheese they were mixed with gave them a smooth texture and wonderful flavor. The Bless Your Heart mimosa was also good, and not too sweet but very refreshing and delicious. I found the portions to be of good size. Everyone left content having had just the right amount. I hope to go back and try more!

Love the decor throughout the restaurant! The “kiss my grits” sign… love! Second time here and I will say the food was a lot better. Seasoned fried green tomatoes, the grits are good. I have had better though. Fried pickles are good, the cauliflower as well is good too! Chicken and waffles were good, I had the Spicy with the sauce on the side. Others ordered the avocado bacon chicken sandwich, Cobb salad, Mac and cheese (fair). No complaints at our table. Wait staff were super friendly. Drinks were really good too!

Great southern food in downtown Milwaukee!
The boozy rooster was a nice, smooth bourbon cocktail.
The chicken and waffles were great. The chicken was boneless and easy to cut up to get a little per bite of waffle.
We also tried the dessert duo which was pea and pie and banana pudding. It was a perfect amount to split after a filling meal.

Enjoyed our meals although the chicken seemed to me to be more of a mass produced product than home kitchen style. I didn't feel the portions were small as others have mentioned. Nice beer list. Place was jumping on a Friday night, yet we were able to adjust our reservation because we were running late.

We had an amazing dinner at Tupelo Honey, the food and our server were exceptional. Zavier was quick with service and recommendations, as well as enthusiastic in regard to it being our first time there. It was my birthday so he graciously provided a free birthday dessert. We ordered the pimento cheese dip, the Mac N’ Cheese Waffles with Nashville hot chicken, a side of collard greens, a side of Heirloom Grits with goat cheese, banana pudding and pecan pie. The food came out so fast we hadn’t even finished with our appetizer before the waffles arrived, which was perfect as we arrived very hungry. The pimento cheese dip was warm and bursting with cheesy goodness, the chips were salty and the perfect pairing with the dip. The chicken and waffles was delicious and flavorful, just enough sauce to not overpower anything. The collard greens were a little under seasoned and tough, I would have preferred more flavor. The grits were perfect texture and flavor. The banana pudding was divine; they were out of whipped cream but it was so delicious it didn’t even need it. The pecan pie was also delicious, with thick stripes of chocolate to complement the richness of the pie. All in all, we would DEFINITELY eat here again. Thank you Zavier for going above and beyond!

First time here, and had a great experience. Had heard raves about the biscuits and the fried green tomatoes, so we tried both and enjoyed them. The menu has some interesting takes on traditional southern fare, including a few different chicken and waffles dishes. My suggestion would be to turn up the spice on the chicken. I think most folks eating southern food are expecting more spice. We'll be back to try more items.
Also, we were there at an odd time and it was not busy, which I'm sure is unusual.

Great atmosphere! We were seated quickly with an online reservation. Service was fast and friendly. For appetizers we had the biscuits and fried green tomatoes. Both were fabulous. Chicken dishes were all tasty.
Kimberley Fraser
Made a reservation so we were sat quickly. Decor is modern and adorable. Ordered happy hour appetizer and drinks right away. Took some time, but not too long. When we got our drinks we ordered the rest of our food and it took a little while to come out but was SO GOOD!! We especially loved the fried chicken and I loved my sangria. Definitely glad this place is in the area and will be coming back again! Would recommend to others but make a reservation as it was very busy by 6:30pm on a Tuesday.

Beautifully decorated southern style restaurant with various seating options. The Moscow Mule is definitely the best drink here! Also make sure to get the biscuits, they're incredible. The chicken however is somewhat disappointing, as it was rather plain and flavorless. Shocking considering it's a southern style restaurant. This makes it hard for me to want to return since chicken makes up most of their menu. The banana bread pudding is terrific however!

Really nice restaurant with a great terrace to sit on and eat outside.
The food was really good for all of us and we felt like everything was really fresh.
Sadly, they were out of fried green tomatoes, we all looked forward to trying theirs!
Gally was our waitress and she did a great job and cared well for us. I would return to eat here happily!
Edit: came back for a second meal and it was delicious and the servers were rockstars, or as they say, Wonder Women.
Great Job!

Exceptional experience my first time at Tupelo’s well done all around. Parking was few but the wait was only 15 minutes so we got in on a busy Saturday pretty fast. The menu was updated and unique, they also had valentines weekend specialty cocktails. I eventually went with a black pepper Bloody Mary and a breakfast bowl with grits. It was so yummy in my tummy the staff complimented each other so well and creates a great atmosphere for us as guests. The interior design is to die for and my favorite part about this place. It has beautiful floral greenery on the inside literally from the ceilings to the tables. The lighting is also moody for a brunch space I will definitely be returning! THANKYOUUUU!

The food was fantastic. Great, friendly service. LGBTQ friendly staff.🏳️🌈 We were seated quickly, the food came out fast and had nice sized portions.
Very cost effective dinner option. We had 8 people, several appetizers, 8 entrees, and some cocktails for around $205. Very affordable.
Lastly, they have SWEET Tea! Which is very important to this Southerner. ☺️

Came to Milwaukee from Chicago for a weekend trip stayed at a hotel two blocks away and decided to try Tupelo Honey southern kitchen. We had really great drinks and service recommended by our server Xavier. We went in on a Friday night with no reservations, and did not have to wait, though our party was only two. The inside decor is Beautiful, looks really Spanish, like with nice neutral colors. We ordered the Sriracha, cilantro, chicken, and waffles, the shrimp and grits, the brussels sprouts, which were amazing. Fried pickles and pimento cheese dip. If you’re in the area and looking for a great dinner spot, this is a must try.

My husband and I are at Tupelo Honey during the lunch hour. It has a fun, modern, country-farm vibe. We enjoyed great-tasting, yet spicy, classic Bloody Mary's, green tomato appetizer, split a chicken sandwich, and ended with two additional cocktails. I highly recommend The Debutante cocktail- very refreshing on a hot summer afternoon!
Dan Profio
My first experience at Tupelo Honey was mostly positive. Decor and atmosphere of the building are fantastic but if you're not in a booth the room feels/sounds like a lunch hall. Drinks are good, food didn't impress me too much although I did get their fish fry which doesn't seem to be their specialty. For the price of the meal there are plenty of better places with more parking options a short walk away to the third ward.
I feel like Tupelo Honey is a bit too overpriced for what you actually get and if they could make the space a little more intimate and elevated their menu it would be a top tier place.
Tempestt Ballenger
Came here for lunch with my partner and I am SO glad that we did. The chicken waffles were amazing and my partner enjoyed her meal as well. The sides were ALL appetizing. These greens are fresh, not canned and the macaroni and cheese was delightful. Honestly the food was so delicious we actually ended up coming here three days later for my birthday dinner and it was equally enjoyable! The drink menu was extensive. Literally a mimosa flavor for every taste pallet. And their house cocktails were incredible. I absolutely love their lavender lemonade! Breakfast, lunch, or dinner THIS is the place to be Milwaukee!
Krista Konetzke
Really nice atmosphere and great service. The drinks were unique and well made. The food is absolutely the reason to come back again and again. They have really managed to bring their own spin on southern food.
Travelicious_d
Great southern food place in town. The service was great. My server name was Misha (apologies if spelled it wrong) she was super friendly and helpful. I got the turmeric tonic to drink which was delicious. For food I got the chicken and waffles mac and cheese special in which the mac n cheese is in the waffle. The food was good. Only recommendation is that it is served with syrup I asked for a side of syrup and it really added to the dish. I also got biscuits to go just because I felt it was a good causes as the funds go to a fund that help employees in need.
Colton Barney
Great food and the staff is super nice.
Came here for brunch after a wedding with family and friends. Got a little of everything on the menu and everyone had a positive experience!
Lavelle wright
My friend and I decided to try something new. So glad we did. This is my new favorite place. I can't wait to bring my husband. I even loved their food re-warmed. Can't wait to try some more of their food!
Skylar Koenitzer
We came in on a Saturday morning, first people in the door because we were nervous about a wait(without reservation). We were offered the bar or a high-top and the bar was very quick service. The ambiance of the place is wonderful. We were attended to throughout our meal and the food was delicious. We will be back to try some more of the menu. Honey Sriracha fried chicken was a bit spicy for me but my tolerance is not high.
David Mattern
Excellent food. Dynamite 🧨 service! Had brunch then came back for dinner. Live the food and atmosphere here. Great vibes! Full choice bar and wines. Specialty cocktails. Really very fun place. Will be back! Across the street from the MKE Public market. In East town, 3rd Ward across the street. A must visit for Foodies in Milwaukee!👍
Kyle Wilson
The food was superb. One of the best meals I've ever had in my life. Truly. The signature drinks were fantastic as well. My new favorite Milwaukee restaurant!

Delicious food and friendly staff! I had the fried green tomatoes and the Nashville chicken sandwich with brussel sprouts. Everything was so well prepared. Lots of flavor and deliciousness. The aquas are also refreshing! I had the lemonade blueberry. So yummy. We finished with pecan pie which was hot, sweet and perfect for sharing!
The space was beautiful! The bar is gorgeous. The plants on the ceiling and walls made it feel so clean.

Ordered Chicken & Waffles and the Shrimp & Grits with the partner. Both tasted good, but were both nearing room temp when they were served to us. I have had the shrimp & grits before at the Asheville location and don't recall there being sausage involved, but there was here in MKE. I could have done without the pork but still enjoyed the flavors. All as expected from this chain, and am thankful they were opened on New Year's Day as there weren't many other options for breakfast in the area. Blueberry Lavender Mimosas were fun and would enjoy another.
Kali Holt
Everything was perfect. The atmosphere was fun and comfortable. The service was great our waitress was thorough in answering our questions and making sure we had what we needed. The Sriracha honey chicken was perfect, juicy crispy and full of flavor.
Melissa Dielen
The brunch here is amazing! I've had their shrimp and grits, and their avocado eggs benedict. Both dishes have fantastic flavor profiles. The grits are creamy and delicious. The poached eggs for the benedict are cooked perfectly. Lovely combo of spices on each dish. I think my only complaint is that the potatoes that came with the eggs benedict were way over-salted; it completely overwhelmed the potatoes. Other than that, everything else is perfect. I've tried a few of their mimosas and they are fantastic. I highly recommend this place for a southern style brunch.
Martika Gartman
Delicious scratch made food with a southern twist. Try it you won't be disappointed! I did the lunch combo with tortilla soup and half sandwich and salad! Yum.

So this was my first time. I must say the environment was very pleasant. Our waitress was a sweetheart and made the time enjoyable. The food was very good; favorable and great portion size. I'll definitely be back to try more items. ❤

Amazing food!!
it really took me back to my childhood.
biscuits were awesome!!
chicken and waffles were probably the 2nd best I've ever had(behind my grandmas!) don't even get me started on the pecan pie!!
parking right across the street
easy to get to.

My first time here. The Atmosphere was very nice. Real laid back. First time having chicken and waffles. It was ok. Chicken was dry and the waffle was sorta warm. The bloody Mary was decent.
Kristal
All around great! I had to opportunity to enjoy 2 delicious meals at Tupelo Honey- dinner and brunch.
I made reservations for both visits through the Open Table app. Walking in the ambiance was lively and the hosts were so friendly and warm. I walked back through the restaurant before being seated and noticed there are 4 individual bathroom stalls - all with baby changing stations. The restroom I used was very clean and fully stocked.
Our server Anton went above and beyond to take care of us. He made some great suggestions for drinks and his favorite menu choices.
For dinner I had the peach don’t kill my vibe drink, my hubby had a modelo and then The Boozy Rooster. Our drinks were served to us quickly and they had just the right amount of alcohol. The fried pickles were hot, fresh and delicious! We did order extra buttermilk ranch dipping sauce for them. We enjoyed the cast iron pork, French fries and Mack and cheese. The pork was fantastic! It had a nice crunchy skin with a soft and flavorful meat. The crispy fries were so good but the mac m cheese was a little lackluster for my taste. The portions were very generous I took 1/2 of my food home! My hubby ate the meatloaf with green beans and salad. He said his was amazing! We finished off with the pecan pie which was pretty much inhaled once it was on the table!
My brunch experience was just as great! We went to celebrate my niece’s birthday and she was given a free bottle of their blueberry compote as a birthday gift. She also was given a birthday dessert. As both were very unexpected, they were greatly appreciated and a testament to their gracious customer service.
We enjoyed their hot coffee and cold brew, both were delicious. We ordered the spicy cauliflower bites appetizer. Even though it was good, we were hoping it would’ve had more of the sriracha honey drizzle on the appetizer. My sister and I had the chicken and waffles with a side order of scrambled eggs. The chicken and waffles came out hot and fresh. The chicken was seasoned well and crispy. The eggs were good. I liked that there was pepper already in the eggs. If you don’t like pepper in your eggs, I’d suggest you specifically say no pepper so you don’t have to send it back. My niece had the bacon and avocado melt. She loved the green tomato aioli and said the crispy fries were delicious.
Overall, I had 2 lovely experiences dining at Tupelo Honey. This is a perfect place if you want a trendy/modern ambiance with exceptional service and great food.

Made a reservation in advance for brunch. Interior was beautiful and food was even better! Although I’ve had better bloody maries. Service was great too
Emily Anderson
I've heard mixed reviews about this place. A LOT of people really seem to enjoy it and commend them for the chicken and waffles... others say 'Pass'. I was really excited to get a southern chain in the area when they first came around... but I unfortunately have to say I don't need to return.
....if I do... maybe for a drink...at the bar... assuming their CO2 is working.
Going to start with ambiance... the space is great... its lively, well decorated and they have a good selection of music playing in the background. All staff we encountered, during our Saturday 900p reservation for 4, were great. Our server was prompt and made sure to give us regular updates on the status of our food/drinks. She was really great.
Drinks: I had my heart set on the tumeric ginger tonic - they were unable to make it and I got the lemonade with lavender. It is accurately described and is very tart. Almost to an unpleasant level. Maybe it was just that batch...but everyone at our table ordered it and agreed with the sentiment. It was dfinitely more enjoyable once some ice melted.
Food: ordered the country chicken and waffles, Sriracha chicken and waffles, fried green tomatoes with grits, and honey dusted chicken with a side of Mac. Feedback on the various dishes: the gravy had no flavor and was bland - the chicken was dry, the grits had no flavor, the honey dusted chicken was under seasoned. Mac and cheese side: good. The person that ordered the Sriracha chicken and waffles really enjoyed their dish.
Elizabeth Gallagher
Holy lord! This place is amazing! The fried green tomatoes on a ladle of grits are savory and perfectly battered. The half chicken - honey dusted has the most delicious skin, very tender and moist. The banana pudding is so banana-y it's incredible. The pecan pie has the perfectly sized pecans, the base of the pie has a flan-ish texture and the chocolate topping brings it all together nicely.
The drinks were very delightful and perfect for the hot weather.
The atmosphere and the service were great. The large windows and plants everywhere are an excellent touch Looking forward to seeing this place do well 🙂 We already put in reservations for a birthday brunch

I'm patiently waiting for my next visit here. Not only were the dishes we had picture worthy, but they had the flavor to back it up.
Mac N Cheese Waffles with Asheville Hot Fried Chicken - is worth getting. Don't get it for the Mac N Cheese because you will be greatly unimpressed. However, do get it for the hot fried chicken and buttermilk ranch. The chicken is crunchy and juicy, while the ranch adds the savory topping. I would still order this knowing the Mac N Cheese portion underwhelms.
All I "Avo" Wanted Benedict - is also worth getting. If you love Benedict's and you love avocado, you're getting the best of both worlds here.
Spicy Cauliflower Bites - is a pass for me. The cauliflower lacked flavor which you'd expect to be made up by the dipping sauce. However, it wasn't the great for me.
Lizz Tsosie
Great biscuits. Friendly staff. Love the ambience. Amazing location. They are always super busy any time we drive by. Definitely a fun restaurant.
Chelle C'est La Vie
Both the food and drinks were delicious! Server was courteous and provided the background of the business (since I was a 1st time patron). I got the chicken and Mac & cheese waffle

This was my first time at Tupelo Honey Café. I didn’t realize they had so many locations.
Wonderful food and atmosphere. We tried the Fried Cauliflower Tacos as an appetizer and the spice and taste was wonderful. My wife and daughter each had the Mountain Harvest Bowl – fresh vegies and plenty of flavor with a great portion. I had the white meat, Sweet & Spicy Fried Chicken – probably the best southern chicken I’ve had. Our server Bryce was helpful, ready to serve and friendly.
Gabriel Burnett
Very sophisticated simple take on southern food. Everything was delicious & the drink selection was more the adequate with many choices. They missed the 5star mark due to the gulf shrimp being very small and slightly over cooked they definitely missed the mark with those. Sweet potatoes were delicious, as were the grits. Smothered chicken sauce was divine with good portions.
Becca Shulbank-Smith
The Roast Beef Debris was phenomenal - my boyfriend had the Mac & Cheese Chicken & Waffles and loved them. Would definitely recommend!
Lisa Pinter
Wonderful food & service. Got seated right away and our waitress was very attentive. the food was hot, delicious, and pretty quick for as busy as they were. Great place to check out. You can even purchase their cute glasses that say madder than a wet hen & hold your horses.
Lisa Moore
Modern decor in this downtown restaurant and bar featuring Southern style menu including shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, etc. Non-alcoholic cocktails also offered as well as beers and wines. Noise level is high owing to large room with high ceiling. Food was delicious and we ordered shrimp and grits, and the vegetable plate which allowed the choice of 4 vegetable sides. I chose sweet potato bisque, grits with goat cheese, collard greens, and fried Brussels sprouts. All were delicious and filling. No room for dessert!
Heidi Hildeman
I love the service and food here, but the only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because I prefer the flavor of the bloody Marys at the Wicked Hop to the ones here. On this visit, I had the Queen Mary Bloody and the fried green tomatoes. I did enjoy the Bloody, I just prefer other Bloodys to the one I had here. The servers are very attentive and patient though, given the hustle and bustle atmosphere.
Aaron Bartelt
Had Brussels sprouts and cauliflower bites to start. Phenomenal. Chicken and waffles for the main course were pretty good as well. First time having that dish so nothing to compare it to. Boozy rooster cocktail was excellent. Very good food, service and ambience. Hard to believe this is a chain restaurant.
Ramsey_Jd
The atmosphere was clean, sleek, modern and the staff was super friendly, quick, and helpful. I had an omlet and it was the best omlet I ever had! Also had both versions of the sweet tea and it was refreshing!
Joseph Zuniga
A great spot that just opened up close to the 3rd Ward that I think will be a sought out brunch destination quickly. Food was super good and so were the Bloody Marys. Service was very quick and waitress was super polite. They have a large menu and I will definitely be coming back to try more. Outdoor seating was nice with umbrellas and a nice lake breeze.
Julia Dolata
Great brunch. The biscuits with a cause were amazing. Loved the pink mimosas! Fun take on the chicken & waffles.
Shakiela Riley
The atmosphere is nice, inviting & bright! The service was efficient even though it was a full house! I had the sriracha chicken & waffles- it was amazing! & the Bloody Mary was perfect!

Great place for a quick bite. Tupelo is a great new restaurant in this neighborhood. With warm decor and a great menu this place is a must-have for any downtown foodie looking to explore new flavors.
SpicyFrenchFry
1000 times recommend this place for breakfast. The food was delicious, our drinks were amazing and the atmosphere was chill and relaxed. Will definitely be going again.
Tammy Bartley
Very nice. The ambiance is wonderful. The food was very good, made well and correct. The chicken was super tender and flavorful. The Mac n Cheese reminded me of how my grandmother made hers with cracker barrel cheese. The staff was professional, polite, friendly and make you feel very welcome. This is an upscale Southern Cuisine restaurant with an upscale experience. This is a perfect place to bring out of town guests or just when you want something classy. Casual dress is perfect so you can be very comfy eating this delicious food. Good job Tupelo Honey !!!
Art3mis
Really delicious food! I haven't had authentic Southern cooking before, so I can't compare it to anything. We tried the fried green tomatoes, which came with cheesy homestyle grits, and that's how I found out that grits are delicious! So I had the smothered chicken, homestyle grits, and baked mac and cheese. It was all amazing! I tried my boyfriend's Sriracha honey chicken and waffles, and they were really good too. That "bee dust" is excellent! For dessert, we had banana pudding (delicious!) and pecan pie (lava hot). I wish my waitress had warned me that the pie was going to burn my tongue off, because it looked cold and was served on a cold plate. I think my homemade pecan pie is better anyway though. We really liked it overall, and we'll be back!
Chris Rautmann
Not typically a fan of chains, but this is a great option for southern fare in Milwaukee. The cocktails provide a good mix for everyone, and the menu has excellent variety as well. Highly recommend the sweet/spicy fried chicken, which was super crispy with a good balance of flavors. The brown butter pecan pie was amazing also. The space can be a bit noisy (yet beautiful), but they have a good amount of outdoor seating as well.
Sherlinda Cannon
I went alone, sat at the bar, very clean place. From walking in and leaving out, very nice staff (all the ladies). The older guy that were serving the bar was very hard at hearing im assuming. I wanted the chicken in this certain sauce which i showed him a picture and it still came out wrong but i just ask for the sauce on the side. I also heard people asking for syrup and he moved when he got ready, so I didn't bother to ask for me some more. I felt rushed in a way because while I were eating, the people next to me ask for their bill and he brought me out mine with their's. (Kinda didn't know how to feel, since I was between just now eating).
Kerry Anderson
Customer service was phenomenal. The space is downtown
The interior was marvelous, bright and open. Order the chicken and waffle which was amazing. Would definitely go back

What can I say but amazing food. If you are in the downtown Milwaukee and you’re in the mood for Southern cuisine look no further. The biscuits with the berry jam is to die for. The fried chicken is smack your mama good LOL
Tim Brim
Really good food & nice dine in options on the menu. Seating is comfortable and you have 2 options. Sit high or low. Either way is just fine. Staff are very well trained, working together & didn't hover over us while we enjoyed our meal but were attentive enough to be aware. Our waitress at this location was a woman named Sam. Sam was super nice & just a sweet woman. We appreciated her service immensely! The tip should have shown our gratitude. We will be back!
Ellis
A beautiful new restaurant on Broadway and Michigan. The decor is lovely, seating is comfy. The only not great thing is that it is so noisy. Too bad because the food, the drinks and the staff are great. Faith took care of our table and she was nice and very attentive. Food portions are hearty and quite tasty. I had the mac n cheese waffles with fried chicken. Yummy! We will be back!
Aalliyah
Atmosphere here is nice. Parking can be challenging, so I always utilize the lot across the street.( Hint: scan and use the app to pay for parking and it will remind you when time is almost up and allow you to add more funds if needed! )
Drinks are GOODT and strong! Not really sold on the food after trying 4 different dishes. The fried green Tomatoes we're very tough and not well seasoned. The table salt they use is very "salty" with a weird aftertaste, so beware and use sparingly...
Waitstaff was attentive and friendly. Hint: make a reservation online for weekend brunch
James Jackson
The atmosphere is great the place has a great ambiance plenty of people laughing and enjoying themselves... The service could have been a little better.. The food could definitely use some Love, the greens have way to much sugar, the grits are bland..the chicken was good and so was the banana pudding but the star was the biscuit.
Brooke Sumner
Best shrimp and grits I’ve ever had! Great service and atmosphere! We will definitely visit again when in town.
Carol McHugh
Great atmosphere! The wildflower moscow mule was so refreshing and probably the best one I've had. Shared the biscuits and spicy fried cauliflower appetizers and they did not disappoint. I was pleasantly surprised to find slices of fried jalapeños as well! I love that the biscuit proceeds helps an employee in need. That's something I have not seen any other restaurant do. The shrimp and grits were a tad too oily for my liking, so I had to mix it really well and squeeze a good portion of the lemon provided to cut the oil. Overall very good and I would recommend everyone check it out!
Adam Sinram
We stopped here last night with a group of friends. The atmosphere was really cool, my Teloma was amazing, I had two! I ordered the meatloaf, which was good as well. I Only gave 4 stars because our service was a little rough. We will be back and we recommend
Erna Benson
I had a Bacon & Sausage Cast Iron Scramble. It's so yummy!! Will be back soon! My fav place to eat in downtown MKE!
Lee Turner
My friend and I both ordered the southern peach mimosa, we ordered the fried green tomatoes, the shrimp and grits, and the traditional breakfast with the potato cracklings.
The presentation of the food was inviting. However fried green tomatoes, were red and had absolutely no flavor. We did bring this to the attention of our waitstaff, she went back to talk with cooking staff. None of the tomatoes they had were completely green, so we weren’t charged for them. The shrimp and grits were good, but not something to rave about. The traditional breakfast was good, the potato cracklings are delicious, but not as crispy to call them cracklings. The Southern peach hospitality mimosa, the combination of peach, pineapple, and champagne does not mix well. That combination gives the taste of beer. The waitstaff did swap our drinks out. I switched to the south peach hospitality in the non alcoholic version, and it was just okay but definitely better than the mimosa. My friend switched to a Bloody Mary and that was very tasty.
Our waitstaff was lovely, she was helpful, and genuinely cared about her experience. I probably won’t return because nothing really wowed me.
Eric Michalski
Came here for my wife's birthday and it was great! Each section of the restaurant had its own unique vibe, just a really awesome design aesthetic. Giant bar with a great beverage menu. High ceilings. Cool lighting. Funny water glasses. Delicious food.
Started with the crispy brussels and house-made fried pickles, both were very tasty. I had the meatloaf patty melt because I thought it was different and it sure was. Could have used a lot more meatloaf, but the flavors were great. Ended with the dessert duo; the heavenly banana pudding was our favorite.
Overall, the flavors were delicious and the drinks were on point. Great space and service. Would definitely recommend!
Eric Lueck
First time here and we had an excellent experience especially in that it was Sunday evening July 3 right before the fireworks. The wait was 2 minutes, our server Ashton was excellent, and the food was delicious. Reasonably priced for quality food. Great downtown atmosphere. We will come back.

Our on line order was scheduled to be ready at 3:30pm. We got to Tupelo at 3:28 order wasn't ready. We waited 3:45 we asked for the status of order a server went to check on it she told us 3 more mins. 3:55 we were just ready to cancel the order 4pm we finally received our order🙄.
Food was less than what we expected taske and size wise..
We ordered.
Breakfast bowl
Half chick with sweet & Spicey sauce
Macaroni
Greens
Banana pudding
2 ginger drinks.
The sides were very small for $7 ...
Inside atmosphere was very nice if you dine in.
Andy Andersen
Prompt service and quality meal. Would return. My only complaint was that coffee was a little watered down but it could have just been the specific brew that I was served.
joe mullins
Had lunch with my sisters and nieces. The fried chicken was awesome . So were the appetizers of biscuits and Brussels sprouts. But the best was Tanya our server. Friendly, attentive, simply the best! Her 32 years in the service industry have been well spent. She is an incredible asset to your business. I'll be back!

Great atmosphere, customer service and Great southern food. Can’t go wrong with any of the chicken and waffles & the collard greens were seasoned well!

Took a quick trip to Milwaukee from Chicago with family and grabbed a bite here. It was PHENOMENAL. Eric was the best server ever. His recommendations were spot on. Spoke to manager Courtney about our amazing experience and she was so graceful and commendable. Then spoke to Danny who is VP of operations, he was also such a breath of fresh air and his energy blew us away - we even walked out with some gifts. From the service to the food, we enjoyed every second of our experience. Come here and ask for Eric as your server! Love this place!

This place is so adorable. Love the vib. Delicious food and great drinks.
Not many vegetarian friendly options.

Today my husband and I went to a new restaurant in downtown Milwaukee called Tupelo Honey. It opened 4 days ago. It’s a chain restaurant with locations in at least 8 states with over 18 locations with more coming in the next year.
This is a place where CEO’s and partners in large firms would want to bring visitors from out of town for lunch. Visitors in town for business and staying overnight can enjoy an evening meal here. But if you are a frugal Wisconsinite, like we are, this is a once a year or possibly a once in a lifetime experience. Most Wisconsinites are not interested in visiting downtown Milwaukee.
We were very pleased with the food and drinks we ordered. The way it was prepared and tasted was astounding. I had a Boozy Rooster mixed drink, and Lavender Lemonade. We shared fried green tomatoes served on a bed of cheese grits. We both had collard greens. I had cheese grits with grilled chicken (it normally comes with shrimp). I had a mini banana pudding cup for dessert. Hubby had iced tea, bourbon glazed meatloaf and a side of mac ’n’ cheese. I tasted the mac ’n’ cheese, and though it was good it was not something we agreed was worth the price. This is Wisconsin. We can get good mac ’n’ cheese many places.
The bill totaled approx. $97 with the tip.
Since Wisconsin is known for having fish frys they have a couple of choices along with the shrimp they normally have on the menu. I saw a couple of plates of the fish fry go by and they looked amazing. I ended up taking half of my cheese grits home because I got full and still wanted to try the banana pudding.
The restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating. There is a nice long bar area and you have choices of being seated for dining at high or low tables. We were seated at about noon. Before we left it looked like the restaurant was mostly full. Many customers chose to eat outside in the sun or under an umbrella. The rest rooms were nicely appointed. No stalls like in most places, just individual rooms.
I definitely want to go there again during the holidays. There are so many dishes that I still want to try.

Showed up without a reservation on Thursday evening at 6:45pm for 2 people had to wait 15 minutes to get seated. Staff is very helpful and attentive. Fun atmosphere and design. Drinks and appetizers were very slow almost got them the same time as dinner. Food was great. Fried Green Tomatoes, Shrimp & Grits, Honey Fried Chicken, Ginger Turmeric Tonic, and Honey Margarita.
Sabrina Patnaude
W O W. Absolutely amazing. The food was amaaaaaaaazing!!! Waitress was great, location was convenient. We made reservations but I’m not sure you needed them. Highly recommend the cauliflower tacos!!!
Lilac Dolce
The women there are absolutely empowering, and beautiful inside and out!!! Showered me in compliments as soon as I walked in, and food came fast for my days and I. Your employees are phenomenal. Please treat them just as well as they treated me and my date yesterday evening. The waffle is a solid 7/10. However, the spicy chicken made the meal a 11/10 for me! Well seasoned and moist. The atmosphere is perfect for a simple, yet elegant date. Loved it! Will be back. 🤍✨

Place was really nice shrimp and grits were ok and chicken and waffle was the show stopper and fried green tomatoes was crunchy but lack seasoning overall i would eat here again
Tobie Cannizzo
This place is cute and our server was really nice. Must have - biscuits for a cause, this was the best part, perfect. I ordered country chicken and waffles, ask for the gravy on the side, waffles were soggy. The other dish was bowl of grits with eggs and small portion of sauces with cracklins- again best part just order these on the side. The cold brew was mostly ice and not worth $4+
Lyn MsHollywood
I really love this shrimp and grits, and fried green tomatoes I just got my grits that came with it on the side. My friend she got the fried cauliflower and two sides. And the Bloody Mary, let's just say two of them really did the job on making me sleep very well.
Elise Hallock
It was alright.
It seems like the sort of place that the parents of Marquette students take their kids when they come to town to visit.
The service was very new (a lot of new hires) but all very well meaning. An individual at our table ordered 3 successive rounds of the same cocktail and each was entirely different from the next.
The spicy cauliflower app was mostly fried cauliflower with a gloop of sweet chili sauce. The fried green tomatoes were good. The grits were supposed to be made with goat cheese but I couldn't taste it.
Brianna Wright
Made a return visit today after going here right when it just opened. Our service was so fast and friendly, especially during Saturday morning brunch! We had the breakfast bowl and blueberry waffles, both were decadent starts to our mid morning meal. I can stop thinking about those grits and blueberry compote!

Being an expat Southerner living in the frozen north I am always suspicious of any “southern” food served this side of the Kudzu curtain. I entered Tupelo Honey anticipating yet another poor rendering of classic southern dishes. I was surprised, astonished at just how good everything was. The baked Mac and cheese was the closest thing I’ve ever had to my poor old mama’s Mac and Cheese. The fried green tomatoes were just right, the greens were as good as you’ll get up here. The banana pudding, good Lord, was just like something you would be served at a church homecoming. I’m going back to try the fried chicken.
Richard Flores
This place was okay at best. You shouldn’t come out of your way to visit. The shrimp and grits were good. I ordered a side Mac and cheese and that was dryer than sand. Th portion was ridiculous for the price. That was a let down for being a southern restaurant. Give this place a shot though. Just my experience. Waitress is a cutie
Denise Cole
I had a lunch special which comes with choice of sandwich and two sides. I had a grilled pimento cheese, very unique because it had a fried green tomato on it. It was absolutely delicious. I had Collards and Mac and cheese as my sides, the greens were very flavorful and the Mac was OK too. My hubby enjoyed the chicken and waffle, and my grandson loved the shrimp po' boy with fries, the fries were great.
John Pyatt
The food was tasty but I would like to see how the person that created the chicken sandwich actually eats it. I know the messy ones are usually the best tasting, but I chose not to put the sandwich down between bites because it fell apart when I let go of it, and if I did put it down I would likely go thru a dozen napkins from all the sauce that had covered my hand. It was busy and loud and we ended up sitting at the bar which was too shallow to sit at comfortably. Meals were priced as if it were a more inviting place. Have no immediate plans of returning.
Timmothy Merath
Everything I had was easily five stars. For appetizers, the crispy sprouts and fried green tomatoes were great and not too much to start. The sauce with the sprouts was a perfect addition to the plate.
For my main course, the shrimp and grits was right up there with some of the best I’ve had in South Carolina. Just fantastic and plenty of food in the bowl!
Best of all was the Blueberry Lavender Agua Fresca. Has to be one of the most refreshing and delicious drinks I have ever had. No joke.
Erin Randall
Get the chicken and waffles! So good. Location is good but the outdoor seating was a little weird in the summer. It kind of felt like we were in the street. Ambiance was top notch but the service was just ok. The great food makes up for it though.
Jeff Gino
This place was completely unexpected but amazing! The chicken and waffles with Mac and cheese was different than I’ve ever experienced but absolutely so savory and delicious. The potato’s and Brussel sprouts for sides were flavorful and unique. Also had the tupeloma drink and It was a surprisingly good! We didn’t take any photos of the food because it was eaten too fast…
Tess Tess
The food is delicious!! Friendly environment
I love it here..
Monty Sauder
The food was a 5, the hostess stand was a 1.
Outstanding food but the experience was lessened by the impersonal hostess who cared more about her own organization than the customer's experience.
The restaurant was 25% full. I was bringing someone new to eat there for the first time. The hostess offered us a table by the window. We accepted and then were walked right by the table we thought would be ours and were sat in front of a wall with no view. When I asked if we could be sat at the table 5ft away by the window and with a view, we were told no. I asked if they would make an exception our hostess asked her boss. I could see them discussing and then returned to tell us that wouldn't be possible.
We sat down and before we ordered the table we had asked for was already sat. I don't understand why we couldn't have been sat there when they were so empty. If I was an owner I would want to know how my staff was treating my customers because word of mouth goes a long way in the restaurant industry.

First Time Here, The Food Was So Good & mimosa was good as hell I rate 10/10.
Morgan Taylor
Sooooo good! Adorable. We had kids meals and adults - everything was delicious. Chicken and waffles were great! Bacon/Avocado sandwich was amazing. Blueberry waffle - yum! Absolutely recommend.
Julia Taylor-Young
Food was sooo good and we had a great waiter❤️
Grits with goat cheese...OMG and sirachi chicken and waffles... awesome
on3 iwin
Very nice outdoor and indoor setup. Good food. Good service. My sweet and spicy burger was 👍.
Douglas Black II
Chain restaurant, but the chicken here was really good. Homemade pickles were dynamite., interesting pistachio beer. Window sill by our table was dirty. Takeout from here would be great.
Mikayla Shorty
My coworkers kept telling me about this place and I enjoyed my time there! Can't wait to come back for my birthday 😋.
Eugene Barney
Came here with Family on our wedding weekend. I had the shrimp and grits. So many flavors, exquisite. Perfect portion. Staff was very accommodating and pleasant. Thanks.
Lucy Alice
The sweet and spicy chicken sandwich was absolutely delicious! The generous amount of pickles on it made me very happy too! Also want to give a shout out to our server, Xavier (I hope that's how he spells it!), he made our dining experience extra lovely, thank you 😁 we will be back for sure❤️ …
Nicholas Averill
Overall the experience was pretty good. I had the Asheville hot chicken and ranch melt. My wife had southern chicken BLT. My chicken was cooked fine but was obviously cooked well before the rest of our meal including my wife’s. My side was hot and her entire meal was hot but my chicken was barley warm to the touch. The Mac n cheese was ok I expected better from this style restaurant but the potato cracklins were amazing. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were very kind and very busy, It was fun watching them make all their cocktails. I tried the Carolina dreamin and the debutante which both were delicious. My wife had when the livings easy and it was very refreshing. I’ve seen a few people mentioning prices in their reviews but I felt it was proper for the area and service. Very nice staff.
Linda Malik
Spacious and cute on the inside. The food was honestly just basic. Everything seemed quite dry, though the flavor was good. One thing I noted was that 3/4 of the time the food was touching the servers clothes as they brought it out to serve - that's enough for me to lose interest. The salad was very good and the brussel sprouts tasty but again, quite dry and a bit overcooked. Otherwise, the staff was very kind and the drinks were really good.
Tom Riddle
My family enjoyed it more than I did, and we've previously been to Tupelo in TN. Beautiful place, biscuits are killer. My Nashville Hot chicken and waffles was a bit bland for it's namesake, but all the other dishes were great.
Mocha Kay
This was my cousins and my first time at this establishment! Very nice high scale ⚖️ 👌🏾 restaurant. It's so nice in there. The waitress could smile a little more, it got a little busy with our oder being forgotten about, but with all the ambience and our happiness we didn't care🤷🏾♀️😂
Howatd Gu
Great atmosphere and an instant bombardment of scent when you walk in. Mac and cheese is top tier. I got the blackened mahimahi, which on its own is really good, but i think i was expecting more after experiencing the bliss of blackened catfish from buzzards billy’s in lacrosse. Really weird way of paying for the meal.
Blake Comer
Should be more like 3.5 stars. There were good things. There were things I didn't like. Let's start with the good: The decor and ambiance are on par with most establishments in and around the third ward. Staff was nice. The biscuits were delicious. I had the chicken and waffles with a side of brussel sprouts. The chicken was very flavorful. They were tenders though, having spent time in the south however, its usually bone-in chicken with that dish. The waffles didnt particularly move me [Frozen?]. The sprouts stood out as they were seasoned and cooked to perfection. I'm concerned the food isnt made fresh. My mother ordered her eggs scrambled light and they arrived scrambled pretty hard, which lead us to believe they were pre cooked and just warmed up. She didnt finish them. The grits were her highlight. The bacon was tough in her opinion. Overall, dont let the decor, ambiance and exquisite plating take away from the focus on how the food actually tastes. I would go back, wouldn't be my first choice though.

My first visit to Tupelo Honey and it did not disappoint. The decor was lovely. The food was really good and our server, Sunshine was friendly, helpful and gave top notch
service.

We had a relatively tasty experience at Tupelo Honey in Milwaukee, WI. Their roasted potatoes were especially crispy and delicious! They originally made my eggs over-easy, but happily and quickly corrected it.
Bruce Buerger
Really enjoyed the fried green tomatoes, biscuits, and siracha fried chicken. Very good cocktail and beer selection. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Really good atmosphere.
Mark Wood
We all had chicken and waffles, was very good but our waitress never checked back during our meal for drinks or anything. Ate my meal without a drink. Probably will look to other options going forward since there are so many in Milwaukee who really strive to serve you.
Madeline Castillo (Maddie)
The food was so good, and the hardest thing was picking what to have!
Keosha Nelson
The ambiance was great! Really pretty restaurant, but the food is just ok. It didn’t really have any flavor. I probably wouldn’t go back to eat. Maybe to have a drink, but that’s about it.
Grant Sanger
Our Bartender, Warren was the best. Been to a lot of places in Milwaukee and no one has come close to him. Great place, great experience, if you go there…ASK FOR WARREN!
Dave D
I've been hearing about Chicken and waffles from the HGTV shows over the years. They offered a spicy version I think called the Saracha chicken and waffles. I expressed concern over the spice and was offered the Saracha honey "syrup" on the side. It was a ten out of ten. I ate everything including the Honey/Saracha sauce. I was in heaven.
PS Parking on the street is a challenge unless you commit to circling the block a half dozen times, and get a spot directly in front of the main entrance! Furthermore we had not made a reservation, however, instead of waiting the hour and a half wait for a table, we opted to sit at the beautiful breakfast bar almost immediately!
Thank You Tupelo Honey Saracha!
Timothy McClure
First time experiencing a Tupelo outside of the South and first time for brunch as well. The black pepper Bloody Mary was outstanding and really enjoyed the Chicken and Waffles.
Angelique Watson
OMG!! The food was DELICIOUS and the service was top notch!! The food comes out quickly, fresh, and tasty! Drinks are nice and strong. My husband and I will return!
Beautiful Bomb
I sat down at 1205 didn’t get my soda till 1247 the waiter came back 3 times saying the manager kept telling her she had to wait to change the soda. I was on my lunch break so had to leave pretty much soon as I finally got it didn’t get it w my food though.
Dan Sims
Wonderful dinner experience. Food was amazing. Staff was even more amazing. Great spot!! Thanks!
James Doyle
Awesome experience, just remember to make a reservation though. Great customer service, and don't forget the delicious southern style food they offer. I had the Shrimp 🍤 po boy and it was seasoned well and fried to perfection. My cousin ordered the regular chicken and waffles and enjoyed the crispy chicken skin and sweet syrup. Would definitely recommend to everyone, and will definitely come back for another visit.
Amira
Absolutely delicious! and even though it was busy the server was very friendly and the food came out at an appropriate time.
We had 2 of the shrimp boy sandwich, YUM!!! I’ve the original ones in Louisiana and this one far passes it with it’s delicious sauce on top. We also had the sweet & spicy sandwich and it is one of our favorites. The sides we got were Brussel sprouts, Rosemary chips and sweet potato all were very tasty.
We had non alcoholic drinks the lavender lemon and pineapple/peach spritzer and we enjoyed them a lot.
Overall a 10/10 experience and will definitely come back again!
Melissa Williams
First time here. Nice environment. The food was bland. Great customer service. We would return again.
Kortney Adams
Food was overall good, but a mixed bag. Highly recommend the Brussels sprouts and fried pickles. My margarita was extremely tasty. Biscuits and fried chicken were just okay. Collard greens were oddly sweet. A fun spot if your expectations aren't too high.
Michael Gordon
I've read negative reviews about the authenticity of "southern cooking" and I wonder if there was a different chef when my wife and I went. The food couldn't have been better! Sweet and spicy chicken with waffles were delicious!! As were the shrimp and grits which had wonderful flavor and didn't just taste of salt. I've eaten food ALL over the globe and I don't really know what people are expecting... again unless the chef wasn't on his/her game on days we weren't there. Went two days back to back before leaving town and enjoyed both days including the staff which was fantastic! Special shout out to Tonya and Eric! The reason for the 4 star review instead of 5 is because they don't offer bone in chicken and waffles so unless you want boneless chicken, you'll have to purchase chicken and waffles separately. Also, we did sample the banana pudding and it was pretty runny and a bit sweet for my taste. Biscuits with blueberry compote was delicious however. I guess you'll have to go experience for yourself but I'd highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely make it a point to eat here whenever we're in Milwaukee!
Craig Martin
First time visiting, but we'll absolutely be back! A terrific location (saying that as a long time denizen of Downtown Milwaukee), super service and wonderfully "on target" Carolinas flavored cuisine (spent a few years in North Carolina.. courtesy of the USMC). Surprisingly busy for a Monday lunchtime, but quickly seated without reservations. Service (Eric) was attentive and friendly, as well as knowledgeable about menu. Great value and a good place to share with out of town guests, or just anyone!
Jackie Edwards
I don't understand any of the poor reviews I read. The Food was really good. We came for my son's 16th birthday, it was 5 of us. The Mahi Mahi was so, so good! I highly recommend. I also had the fried green tomatoes, even the kids enjoyed them. My kids really liked the place. We had great service and od definitely return.
Steven Schmelzling
Great place with a modern atmosphere yet comfort southern food. Gotta get the southern style chicken and waffles with bread pudding for desert.
Alex Evans
Trendy restaurant, great location and fair pricing. Menu has something for everyone and the staff was very warm and inviting.
My chicken sandwich was gigantic
Lily
Sweet and spicy chicken!!! Crispy on the outside cooked perfectly on the inside. Delicious. Also, ordered parmesan and rosemary potato cracklins and spicy cauliflower bites... *drooling* you won't regret it
Shelly Broyhill
The food was beyond delicious!!
Best meal we've had out in a long time!!
I definitely would recommend dining at this establishment. The service was great as well! We had the Shrimp & grits, the Creole shrimp linguine and 4 of the sides!
The greens were probably the best we've ever had, (besides my Mother's)!
Everything was outstanding!!
Kathleen Porter (KayP)
I dont care for waffles & fried chicken & those in my party that ordered it said it was excellent. I had a breakfast dish that was just ok.
Kathryn Hughett
Today I had the fish fry. It's not my favorite. There are better places in town for that. Get something else off of the menu. My favorite is the goat cheese Grits and fried Green tomatoes. Their Turmeric and ginger tonic is very refreshing.
The Traveling DJ
Good food, good service, roomy and nice ambiance. Honey is the theme of the restaurant so honey is in a lot of their dishes.
Sarah Sterling
Nice environs. Had no idea this joint was so spacious. We sat across from the bar so the bartender(?) Was our server 🤔. Other than that oddity, everything was super!
Food: I've had (and personally made) better fried green tomatoes TBH, but these weren't bad in any way, just not the best in my life. The meatloaf sandwich on the other hand was killer. Never had better. Get this in your mouth. Didn't need dessert after sharing the appetizer and having the sammich. Plenty of good bits to go 'round. Yum!
The Borg Cooking Show
The ambiance with low lighting, faux grape Vines hanging from the ceiling, and a kind wait staff set the tone nicely for a romantic dinner.
The fried chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside while moist on the inside with bountiful flavor. Dipping it into the honey Sriracha sauce was close to toe curling. Pair that with the Mac and cheese, and you've got yourself one fireworks on a plate supper.
The peach coleslaw was light, refreshing, and had a nice crunchy texture for a mayo-based coleslaw. However, the collards with bacon were in desperate need of some hot sauce or brown sugar. Also, the caste iron pork shoulder was flavorful from being fried in duck fat, but far too dry.
Over all, I'd give it a 4.1/5
Update:
Order the sweet and spicy chicken sandwich with a side of blistered corn and shishuto peppers. The chicken was cooked perfectly with an amazing breading, crunchy homemade pickle slice, fresh Romain lettuce, and absolutely dripping in delicious siracha honey.
The serving of corn while tasty was small enough to be a war time ration.
The margarita is refreshing but overpriced and could use a bit more tequila.
Still a great restaurant but they pay the rent with the overpriced small portions.
As a southern, best fried chicken that I've found in this state
Whit Henning
Had plans on another breakfast spot this a.m, came upon this hidden Gem.. So delighted we stopped!! Sat outside and Eric served us.. What an exceptional server!! And the food, so unbelievably delish! This place is Amazing! Must go here!
Amber Darr
The ambiance of the place is spectacular.
The food tasted like it needed a lil bit more seasoning… the fried chicken was fried to perfection but it was missing something… I can’t quite put my finger on it 🤔 …
Sandra Short
Great food, friendly service, nice atmosphere!
Kabo Yang
Great food!!
Clean place
Sue Tiedke
Very excellent food! Was seated immediately and food came very fast. Was very please with everything about this restaurant!
Sadie Mueller
Obsessed with the atmosphere. Food was good. Our server Julia was great.
Shelley Andersen
Ordered takeout. The food was ready and still hot when we got home. Excellent quality and wonderful service. Order the biscuits, you won't be disappointed.
MJ Cassville
Highly recommend this place. Great drinks and the meal was delicious! We will be back!
lori haggard
Tanya was our server. She is excellent!! The food was delicious. 2 adults with 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, 4 Bloody Mary's and total wasn't outrageous. Do ask for Tanya when you visit.
Faith-Ann Lorenzana
A tranquil spot in the middle of a bustling section of downtown. I highly recommend the potato cracklins and the chicken & waffles! Don't forget to have a mimosa available in a number of flavors!
Daniel Bader
Overall it was a great experience. The service was fast and the food was delicious. It is southern comfort food done in a classy manner. Highly recommend this place.
Liene White
The service, Mimosas and biscuits were great. I had the chicken & waffles, only 2 waffle halfs, chicken was not seasoned, Mac and cheese was small for $5.
gem videos
Look now, I'm southern, and I'm telling you that this food is GOOD! From start to finish, everything was delicious. And that banana pudding! Make you wanna smack your momma.
W Wade
Very trendy, excellent atmosphere and vibrant crowd. Just be prepared for their menu, chicken and waffles isn't low on calories.
Sam Marszalkowski
Jasen is literally a bar genius Bill Nye sorcery he has. I haven’t had the food but the cocktails were amazing !!!
Nancy Cruz
I love the atmosphere, it’s such a cute place. If you’re looking for a normal order for what you think of for avocado toast, don’t bother. It was the thinnest spread of avocado scraped on the bread. It looked very sad. Some of the other stuff is good, but that’s definitely not worth ordering. We also waited at least 20-30 minutes before we even got our drinks after getting to our table.
A M
Someone took me here for lunch. It was my first time. I got the lavender lemonade which was delicious and the southwest salad with fried chicken. The chicken had no flavor. So I don't know if I will return. It's a cute place with a nice ambience. Our server was good too.
stupefy
went around dinner time & got the regular fried chicken with a Mac and cheese side and a lavender lemonade. The food was pretty good, although there could’ve been more. For the price, it didn’t fill me up all the way. The lavender lemonade was really lavender-y but I enjoyed it! The dessert (banana pudding) was also really good, more of a loose pudding, not very thick, but still good.
Ryan Barnard
Tupelo Honey was fantastic. My wife and I tried it for the first time for dinner on a Friday, and we liked it so much we came back for brunch on Sunday! The service is great, the food is delicious, and the design/decor is really pretty, with a welcoming vibe. Can't wait to go there again!
GinaG1234
I went to Tupelo Honey in October. The service was exceptional as always. Every time I’ve been to this restaurant, the food has been excellent except this time. I ordered the vegetable plate which included crispy brussel sprouts, grits, green beans and collards. I ordered a fried chicken breast as well. The green beans and collards were under seasoned but healthy. The grits were very stiff, and the sprouts were very dry. The chicken breast was so dry and hard. I’m sure it would’ve broken a window if I threw it. I was disappointed with my meal, but the atmosphere was great. I will come again. I think the chef was just a little sleepy that night. I still love this restaurant! One of Milwaukee’s finest. ❤️
Jeremy Miller
This time visiting I wasn’t so hungry-which meant I tried a little bit of everyone else’s food.
The biscuits: ALWAYS a hit. Not only are they “cat head” huge, but they’re tasty plain or with the accompanying jam and butter.
The soup: sort of bland. Not hot. I’ve had a lot better soup out off the can (at out the can prices).
The mac and cheese: it’s always better as a leftover.
The Tupelo honey margarita: fire! Super tasty. Honestly, my future visits here May just be for drinks and biscuits. Maybe a little chicken if I want to spend the money.
Cindy Solano
The ambience is gorgeous and food was delicious. Staff was great! Their potato cracklins are a must try!
Josh Thomas
10/10 would recommend. The food is great, price is reasonable and the atmosphere is exciting. Had dinner with a group for my girlfriend’s birthday and our server treated us and her very well. A friend of mine was on a first date at another table unexpectedly and we sent them shots, the servers coordinated this perfectly for us to get a video. We will be back soon!
Christianne Varela
Fantastic brunch! Fries green tomatoes and Brussels were crispy and delightful. Country chix n waffles some of the best I've had. Blueberry lavender mimosa was w great twist on a classic. Will he back!
Rob Brown
My Lord. Those spicy chicken and waffles. A revelation! Atmosphere is light and airy. Visited the Milwaukee location on work... And can only say that I am ecstatic that my own town of Grand Rapids Michigan also has a location. I will be frequenting it!
Randy Paulson
Enjoyable night of dining. Southern food menu has options for everyone. Indoor and outdoor dining tables. Reservations needed and recommended. Our waitress Grace was great.
Morgan Loppnow
Such a cute spot! I’m glad they take reservations since it’s a new popular place.
The staff was super helpful and nice. I got debutante which was pretty good if you like lavender, and the bees knees which was a bit sweet for my liking.
For dinner I got the smothered chicken with Mac & cheese and Brussels. The sides were super delicious! The chicken was pretty good - only complain is the gravy wasn’t as flavorful as I was hoping.
Over all I think I would go back but try something new, since it is a bit more expensive I was hoping to be more impressed.
Logan Rumbaugh
We came here for a late Sunday lunch and got the Chicken and Waffles and Shakshuka. Both were very good and well presented. There was a mix up with preparing our order and the kitchen manager personally came out to let is know what happened and to comp our entire meal without being asked to (a personal apology would have been plenty for us). The restaurant is certainly Instagram friendly as well, so if the green wall with a neon sign is the vibe you're looking for, this is the spot. Looking forward to dining outside here when the weather accommodates it.
Sophie McPolin
Really hoping this place gets better. I love Asheville’s two Tupelo Honey locations. This one is beautiful but it just doesn’t measure up. Came for an 11 o’clock reservation on a Friday. Wee we’re seated promptly but asked not to be seated at the table directly in front of the restroom when the restaurant is empty. I understand server rotations, but we just didn’t want to be directly in front. After an eye roll and a huff we were moved. Service was slow but friendly, which was okay. The food was okay. Good fried green tomatoes but the cauliflower was bland and had barely any sauce drizzled on, so it tasted like just heavy batter. Sandwich came out with cold potatoes and a way over cooked friend egg on it. The fried chicken was okay, nothing special and not a lot of actual meat.
The experience was just okay and I’m hoping in the next few months it gets better, but I’m in no rush to hurry back.
Dylan Kelly
All around awesome experience. Waiter was super nice and helpful. Food was super good. Had the biscuits for an app and then Siracha Chicken waffles for me and my GF got the Fish Fry. Both were super good. Then for dessert had both the banana pudding and pecan pie and both were also very good. No complaints at all.
Elizabeth Arnott
Best meal I had in Milwaukee. Tried to walk in for brunch and the wait was 2 hours, but we luckily were able to sit immediately at the bar. Quick and attentive service, the space is cool, the food was fantastic. They did it right! Make a reservation, you won’t be disappointed.
Jordan Brinkman
This place is my jam. The decor and aesthetic are incredible, the food is amazing, and the service is also so good! Only problem is how hard it is to get a reservation, so plan ahead!! Also get yourself the mountain harvest bowl. Absolutely fantastic, and every bite tastes a little different. Please eat here people!

This location is absolutely beautiful, and the food was excellent. I've lived in Tennessee and North Carolina for many years before returning to the Midwest, so I was very familiar with Tupelo Honey. It is definitely not as good in Milwaukee as in the South, but that's always the case with regional restaurants, especially chains. That said, it's the best Southern food I've been able to find in this area and the staff was very friendly and fun!
Sarah Gracz
So happy to have this place in Milwaukee! Great food and good service. After eating the biscuits we already said we’d come back and hadn’t gotten our dinner yet. I got the honey dusted white meat chicken and my boyfriend got the country chicken and waffles. Loved it all! Personally I don’t think it’s overpriced at all for a downtown restaurant as some others have mentioned. Beautiful space as well.
nazzie420
Had been craving some good meatloaf and couldn’t find one till I got here the beef and chorizo meatloaf was immaculate
Yashima Gardner
I was there today with my daughter and her friend. I am going to start off with the food then our server. The chicken was nice, moist & juicy. I really enjoyed the taste of the white meat chicken. I ordered green beans and those were not good as I expect. I may have enjoyed them if they were cooked a little longer. The server was kind enough to let me try something else on the menu in place of the green beans. The server we had was very nice and polite. She went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied. Thank you so much Kiara. Keep being the best!
Jonathan Wooden
I just had a nice lunch at Tupelo (Milwaukee). Friendly service. Great food. Will be going back.
Eric Jubeck
We stopped for a drink and dessert- not disappointed! Solid food options as well.
Nate Alpert
Cool vibe and decore. The fried chicken was something special. So crispy yet light, paper-thin coating that every bite exploded over my table guests, making them wish they had ordered it. Their take on the Palmoa drink was nice too. I tasted a hint of mescal that made all the difference.
Amy Labo
Great place to visit! I had the shrimp and grits! Yum!
Theresa Ritter
Even though chicken is the focal point of the menu, they also offer mouth-watering vegetarian dishes and I’m blown away every time I visit.
Dr Kathy Flemming
As a first time patron, I loved the ambiance of Tupelo Honey as well as the friendliness of the greeters and servers! I arrived hungry and excited about meeting a long time friend whose suggestion it was to dine at Tupelo Honey!
That being shared, I was disappointed in what I initially ordered and still attempted to eat. I ordered the Waffles and Chicken dish, requesting that the a spicy sauce be placed on the side. The waffles were absolutely delicious, however what was described as Chicken was not plate appealing, nor tasty due to the nuggets being super fried, HARD and dry. Additionally, the spicy dipping sauce which I requested to be placed on the side instead of being placed on the Chicken itself, actually tasted like..." hot dishwasher detergent!". It killed my appetite. I shared with our server the condition of the hard- cooked Chicken as well as the awful tasting sauce.
My companion shared the same concern with her order to the server, so it wasn't just my point of view.

We loved the food. My mother is from the south so I’m fairly picky about Southern cuisine. We had the fried green tomatoes. They were crispy and served over a delicious savory polenta.I highly recommend the pork. It’s a little spicier than you’re probably going to expect but it’s delicious. I absolutely love the collard greens and bacon. In the banana pudding was sensational. The service was great. For some reason there are a lot of fake plants, but it’s totally worth it because the food is delicious.
Cassidy VanGheem
The ambiance of this place is great, and all of the food we ordered was amazing. Our waiter though was pretty lack luster. Really not personable and really just seemed like they would rather be anywhere else. Our food took 30-40 minutes to come out, which is a little much considering the four people at the table had collectively ordered three sandwiches and a salad. Our waiter came back on two separate occasions to tell us our order would “be out in a couple minutes.” Which wasn’t the case. Overall a really cool place, but they gotta work on the operations of the restaurant a bit.
Jason Logan
Food was good albeit not a lot of it. Small portions but tasty
Carl “C.J” Dotson
Truly exceeded my expectations, can't wait to dine here again.
Tanya Kloeffler
Great place for brunch or dinner. The fried chicken and waffles is delicious
Lorese Braddock
Food was excellent 👌, customer service 👌 restaurant was nice and clean 👌 😋 👍 😀 😊 …
Sherita Greer
Beautiful restaurant, with outdoor seating and a unique food and drink menu.
Patrick John
Outstanding food in an upscale atmosphere. Sriracha Chicken and waffles was perfect.
Fran Le
I enjoyed the chicken and waffles 10/10! Must try. The meatloaf is delicious as well. I didn't care for the Mac and cheese.
Jackie Davis
Food was not good. Eggs and bacon was tough. Biscuits were very good. 3 stars in my book.
Michael Karasch
The sharable biscuits were to die for. It was busy, so the service was a little slow but overall nice.
Lourdes G
Worth a stop! The food and drinks were very well-executed and the service was really friendly. I had the fried chicken and also the biscuits. Sooo good! The space is really bright with modern, welcoming decor.
I wish I lived in Milwaukee so I could go there more often.
Highly recommend.
Andy W.
Delicious food and excellent service. The cauliflower bites were great. They had real kick to them. My green beans side was cooked perfectly. Still a bit of crunch.
Shanice Hemphill
Friends took us here. Ambiance good and it wasn't crowded at 6:30 on a Sunday. Shrimp & grits were delicious. Fried chicken was was delicious. Chicken and waffles was also delicious. Collars greens were delicious. Potatoes with basil & parmessan was disappointing . Skillet pork was ok. Ginger tunic was also delicious. Host and waitress were nice!
Ebony Gaines
Drinks and food was great! The ambience was everything:)
I definitely will be back to try brunch soon!
Kaitlyn Peskie
Went for lunch and the food was amazing! The fried green tomatoes with grits were perfectly crisp. Get the sweet potato bisque side, it was the best! Very cute atmosphere and great food!
Marisol Lopez
Super cute restaurant. We were seated right away but did make a reservation. The fried green tomatoes were very thick and hard to cut through and weren’t that flavorful. Our waitress Asia…I’m sorry if that’s not the right spelling….was super sweet and everything we ordered came out in a timely manner. Everyone loved their meal. The reason for the 3 stars was it was my son’s 18th birthday and couldn’t enjoy our dinner because of nearby people continuing to look at us, like people of color weren’t allowed there. We were a family trying to enjoy a nice dinner out to celebrate our son but dealing with white Karen’s feeling somehow threatened or seeming nervous to be near us….just made the experience bad.
Amit Gode
Really good menu and delicious food. Great place and great service. 4 stars bc the execution that day wasn't the best. The chicken wasn't crispy and the waffles were kinda just barely warm. I'd say it was Sunday rush time and maybe they had pre-prepared their food? Will give another try in a few days. MKE needs more places like this!
Cassie Giamarusti
After one experience here I'm not totally sure yet on if it's somewhere I could see myself visiting regularly. I ordered food on their website and was told it would take 25 minutes. I got there 30 minutes later and ended up waiting 25 more minutes. Apparently the biscuits were what was holding up the order. It was annoying to see tables being served biscuits while I was still standing awkwardly near the front door. Once I got home, the food wasn't as warm as I'd hoped, probably because it sat while waiting for the biscuits. Overall, the place is new so they may just be working out the kinks. If I return soon it would be for dine in. On the positive side of things, the restaurant is gorgeous and modern inside with a nice bar. I'd expected more of a cafe feel but the vibe inside was definitely that of somewhere you would think of for a Friday dinner out. I also thought the prices were fair and the biscuits were huge.
Valeria Key
First time here, waitress was attentive, the food and appetizers was pretty good. There was 5 of us, we all got something different and everyone enjoyed their food. I love the atmosphere, it appeared tables were cleaned/sanitized up well. I don't remember seeing a requirement of wearing a mask but that does not mean it was not one, I just don't remember seeing one.
Abigail H.
Didn't realize it was a chain until I googled it. Made same day reservations, the restaurant was packed when we arrived. Great service despite how busy and the food was great. Would go back to try new items. Loved the interior!
adam barash
Tasty brunch. Had the all American,. As usual - says my daughter. Bloody Mary was good, 2nd bloody came unexpectedly so I made the best of it.
Mara Mamerow
Good food and drinks. Seemed a little pricy for what we ordered (brunch). Not *great* service - the host station told us it would be 10 min for a table, but definitely forgot about us (we were sitting at the bar while waiting). When we did get a table, our server never checked on us after taking our order - and we would have gotten more drinks! She also forgot to send in part of our food order, so it came out very late after the rest of the food.
J0sephine Lee
I love the ambiance of this place with the warm lighting. The food is comfort and spice with brunch available all day. Great selection of vegetarian friendly foods too. And the waitstaff were attentive without being intrusive. 10/10 would recommend and come back again!
Ann Liden
Visited on a vacation. Not as awesome as the original one Asheville, NC. Suspect recipes are less creative and innovative thank they were when not a chain.
Anna Diaz
The chicken and Waffles were fantastic and so was the mimosa. My Benedict left a lot to be desired. The “smoked ham” was essentially a slice of lunch meat folded in half and the biscuits were just okay. The service was phenomenal.
Jean Huggy
First time here. Very nice atmosphere. Had the chicken with fries. The best fries I ever had. Just forgot to order biscuits!
Le Evans
Lively and inviting environment. Staff was really nice and patient. The biscuits are EVERYTHING! I the chicken and waffels; the waffle was made to perfection (not too soft, not to hard). The mimosas are pretty good as well. I would definitely recommend trying them out!
Jonn Harris
Very delicious classic chicken and waffles. Very comfortable seating, lemonade and sweet tea could use a bit more sugar. Elena was a very nice and efficient waitress.
Mario H
Their food is so good. Burger no longer on the menu but they still made it upon request. Their recipes are delicious. I been here multiple times and food is always amazing and service is always amazing. I love this place because it's not basic, there's twists to their dishes you can't find anywhere else.
Eric Skadson
Good food and service.
Definitely order some biscuits here!
Amanda Brezgel
Wow! Great atmosphere and food! I had the shrimp and grits and it was fantastic! My husband had the sweet and spicy fried chicken with sweet potatoes and he loved it! Drink prices were really high. I am looking forward to trying brunch.
Melissa Roenspies
Nice variety of fried sweet, spicy chicken options served with sides with a southern flair. Attentive servers in a bright, contemporary atmosphere. Would have given 5-stars, but partner's all dark fried chicken was a little dry and in need of a dipping sauce.
Sheryl Glenn
Food was delightful. The place itself is very loud. Made it hard to hold a conversation.
Laura Thompson
Very “ok” place. Our meals were overall pretty flavorless and for sure over priced. The biscuits were really good, but that was it. Not bad tasting just felt like zero seasoning was used. Tried the fried chicken, pork skillet dish, collard greens, and Brussels sprouts. Definitely wasn’t southern tasting! Felt very average for what they were charging.
Cheryl Janicki
New experience at the Milwaukee location of this loved South Carolina restaurant. Loved the fried green tomatoes and the shrimp & grits. The lavender lemonade with vodka is divine. Our waiter Owen was nicely attentive. And enjoyed the banana pudding too!
Eric Thompson
Enjoyed my meal and the service. Will definitely visit again and let my brother-in-law know about the meatloaf which was delicious.
Kim Halula
Great fried chicken and fish fry! Rye biscuit was literally hard as a rock and came with no butter. There were two of us and we asked for a booth but were told those were reserved for 4 individuals and yet they sat us at a table for 4. Disappointing for us as we prefer the more quiet and separated dining experience due to COVID.
J
The ambiance is great and the service is good. However the food is OK for the price. The fried green tomatoes were not good(lacked flavor and were tough) and my fish fry was also really tough and small pieces. I’d recommend crafty cow in bay view if you’re looking for great fried chicken and fried green tomatoes
LaTasha Smith
food was great but my drinks was not good my drinks wasn't made right both time but my food was good
Gabe Quaglia
The service was top notch. I believe the server said her name was Ashley but it was so loud I couldnt tell. She did an excellent job and was probably the best server Ive had in years. The place was crowded and the noise level was off the hook. It was like everyone was shouting. Restaurants act like they cant do anything but some applied acoustics could reduce noise levels with some study or consultation, yet places just act like its impossible, which severely annoys me and reduces my desire to return. The food was a mixed bag. We got the fried brussels which are one of my favorite dishes, but it tasted like only a few were seasoned and the accompanying sauce was quite bland. The chicken and waffles were excellent. I did get the mac and cheese stuffed waffle, which while it was good, didnt really lend anything but novelty to the dish. I should have just gotten the plain waffle and a side of mac. The food was ready quite quickly even thought they were packed which was good. Overall it was a good experience, but another mediocre trip would have me looking elsewhere in the future.
Kimberly Keller
Delicious food and drinks! Very cute ambience. Will definitely be back!
La Terra Dyson
I visited this place twice. The first time my experience was a 5 star experience however I had seasonal allergies and was not able to taste my food. I went back for a second time and they ran out of straws. My cloth napkin was dirty. Also if you consider this a "Southern" restaurant please make sure your cooks prepare all dishes including desserts in a true Southern way. I'm from Tennessee so I guess I expected something different. Other than that the Customer Service was impeccable.
Elisha Fields
The atmosphere, cocktails and food were both enjoyable. The service was excellent. I thought the portions were a little small, but that's ok it gives me the opportunity to order more items from the menu. It's a beautiful venue all the way through from outdoor seating, to the dining room and restrooms.
Mizz Lady
The chicken had a weird taste waffles were basic, nothing southern about this and the prices are way too high for the quality of the food
Rev George Pumphrey
I am rating the place high because the waiter Jeremy was an outstanding server. Now to the important question was the food good? I ordered the fish fry which was kind of overcooked and so were the fries, the coleslaw, the side of collard greens were decent, but the the banana pudding dessert was the bomb! There were six of us with three of us agreeing the fish and fries were hard and in the case of the fries they weren't even warm. I had never tasted crispy fried pickles but they were actually good. Another person had the meatloaf which was formed to look like a filet mignon and it was tasty. Another ordered the shrimp linguine and ended up sharing it with two others with them. The youngest ordered mac and cheese and fries only (go figure). The order of the big biscuits was good as well. Two of us had the turmeric ginger tonic and I will have it again when we return for the chicken and waffles. One member of our group ordered the house drink, "The Tupelo" and remarked how good it was. The ambience ambience is quite nice and it is family friendly. Inasmuch they are one month old, I expect things to improve and will be back just to see. I will ask for Jeremy when we return you can bet on that.
Connie Dake
Disappointed. The sriracha chicken and waffles were okay. The chicken, in my opinion was over spiced and over battered. Also, how can you be a southern restaurant and not have biscuits and gravy on your menu? The mimosas were good. The service was good. For the price, I was not impressed.
Jose Gpe Juarez
Great experience drinks and food were great bartender very helpful
Marcellus Haynes
Atmosphere was great. My dinner was hot and cold. 2 out of the 3 pieces of chicken was hot the third piece was cold and dried out. When the bill came I was charged for food that was ordered by my associate. I would be willing to try it again and see if I got better results.
Dan Lozoff
Food was fair, definitely some swings and misses.
Shanti B
Food was great, ambiance was very nice and staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes and restaurant! Will definitely return 💛
Taylor Anglin
The food is ok. I really expected more. The chicken I ordered was dry and chewy so I sent it back. I ended up getting the spicy chicken sandwich which was alot better.
Beverly Lacey
I was disappointed ! from the reservation to the shrimp and grits to the biscuit too hard fried green tomatoes on grits no flavor ....cold chicken ...and the wrong kind ..the noise is unbearable you couldn't hear each other speak ..the service was superb.. Xsavier was amazing ..that's my positive I will come back because they had breakfast all day and I saw some of the plates they looked good...the restaurant was nice inside!
Rob Nicholas
Stopped in by chance this morning as we were walking around looking for a place to grab brunch…..and boy did we get lucky!!! What a perfect way to wrap up an overnight in Milwaukee. Everything our group of 4 had was fantastic. Everything else looked so good we kept adding on sides when we saw what was coming out to other tables. The staff was also great, super friendly and attentive. Will definitely be going back there next time we’re in town. Congrats on the recent opening. Continue with that level of food and service and you’ll be crushing it.
Ari Monroe
Spicy chicken and waffles was great! Its a great spot to enjoy a drink and good food!
Qumane Bermudez
I only get drinks here but the food smells divine but to avoid health complications such as high blood pressure I wouldn’t recommend
Kevin Harmon
Had reservation. Ended up ordering at bar due to waiting. Food was good. Just think can have more options. Prices was ok I guess. Think they are more on higher side being in downtown area
Jim Stevens
The food was OK and would have been better if the waiter had got the order right.
Very small portions. The dessert order came out wrong, four people ordered but he only came back with 2. We explained what we asked for and he still got it wrong.
Very loud, hard to visit.
D Me
Had the perch which was tasty. Biscuit was hard as a hockey Puck, go Admirals!!
LaTasha Sherree'
A southern kitchen with a modern twist. It's a lil pricey but worth it. It was my first time there....so I didn't know what to expect but I was pleased and so was the rest of my party.
Andrew M
Great atmsphere and delicious food. If your looking for some really good Southern food and fried chicken it's worth a stop.
Todd Hoverman
The food was spectacular, we had just about every side and each was great. The main dishes we perfect. The cocktails and in house NA drinks were well crafted and easy drinking.
Angela Hackbarth
Food is amazing! Their Mai, waffles, chicken, meatloaf, fried pickles.... delicious! And you have to order their biscuits with their homemade blueberry jam 😋 …
Robert Mentecki
I ordered the 2 piece fried chicken white meat with brussel sprouts and parmesan fried potatoes. The chicken was $14, each side was $4.50. Very pricey for a breast a wing and 2 sides. The food was excellent. Top notch. The service was less than average. We sat with empty water glasses and empty coffee cups.
Jules Maloney
Been here twice, food was great both times. Servers we had were skilled and easy going. Drinks were tasty. Look forward to next visit
Julia Tevar
Dinner was delicious! Fried green tomatoes, sweet and spicy fried chicken, smother chicken, harvest bowl, and mac and cheese. Larry was quick to fix a dish after we noticed the dish was an allergy hazard. Banana bread pudding is a must!
Dawn Booream
Interior was lovely, wait staff was friendly and inviting.
Menu was not overly varied for differing tastes, either a chicken and waffles type meal or something with a bit more than comfortable spicey heat.
Tracey Sperko
Our food was really good, but our server, Deja, really made the place special. She was knowledgable and enthusiastic about the place. Her recommendations were spot on for what were looking for . Meatloaf was tasty and Creole Shrimp was not too spicy. We loved the banna pudding.
Julie Markert
Amazing food. Even our picky teens loved it. The atmosphere is fun and full of energy. Our waitress Lindsey was helpful, polite, and simply lovely
Elete Trax
Our waitress was awsome and the food was even better, no pics go see for yourself!!
Philip Gissen
It was a Monday, a few hours before our flight back to Seattle. Monday is a difficult day to find restaurants open for lunch. Tupelo Honey is a chain, and I try to avoid chains like a recurrent rash. Chain establishments destroy entrepreneurial spirit and homogenize culture. However, it was cold, a friend was meeting us, and Tupelo whatever was a block away. Tupelo, MS is the birthplace of Elvis and Tupelo Honey is the name of a song by the way.
Warren at the bar took very good care of us, and our fried chicken was excellent. The space is light, open and lovely. If I didn’t know it was a chain restaurant, Tupelo Honey would be a fantastic place for breakfast, lunch, and a quick dinner.
Bianca Di Stefano
Beautiful interior. My food was delicious; a southern fried chicken eggs Benedict.
Debbie Ciesielczyk
Delicious meal. Shrimp creole linguine flavorful. Fried chicken amazing. Tender and juicy with perfect amount of flavor. Pecan pie was yummy. Waitress Tonya was friendly, knowledgeable and a all around great server!. Thank you Tonya!
Candace Hill
We greatly enjoyed our delicious meal and our delightful server. After being turned away on Saturday, we were smart and used Google reservations on Sunday and got a table easily.
Heidi Fendos
Had a wonderful server named Larry who helped us work through some problems (my husband got the wrong entree and my soup was cold.) Despite these 2 issues, we loved our meals (I highly recommend the pork entree) and Larry had us smiling the whole meal. Mistakes happen, dont let it ruin your dining experience. We will be back!
Tammy Ross
We all loved the chicken and waffles, fried green tomatoes and the pancakes were delicious 😋 definitely glad we made reservations! The service was very good also. We will be back! …
Katie Dee
I really want to love this place. The space is beautiful— perfectly decorated and very inviting. The debutante cocktail was delightful and refreshing (although the “tupeloma” tasted watered down). The fried chicken is very good, it keeps its crunch under the sauce, which is always a win in my book. However, the rest of the food was very under-seasoned. I went two separate weekends, hoping the kitchen was having an off night, but both times my table commented how bland the food is. Definitely not something you expect to get with southern food. We wanted to try a little bit of everything— ordering the grits, mac and cheese, brusselsprouts, potato cracklings, and greens. The greens were the best side, but everything else was so underseasoned. Tupelo Honey, I know you’re a chain but I beg you to expand your spice rack (maybe even beyond salt and pepper). Hoping the food improves so I can come back for some more lavender lemonade soon!
David Solomon
I ate the cauliflower. It was good. Big serving size.
Jessika Hinds
This place has the best southern cuisine in Milwaukee! Visit Owen on Sundays! He’s amazing, pay great attention to detail, took our order and had great suggestions. The chicken and waffles are great, greens not so great, sweet n spicy chicken great.
Ask for Owen; you won’t be disappointed!
S Berg
The food was good, the service was good but the noiseyness of the place makes it difficult to carry on a conversation...sadly. If it was just a bit less echo-y , it would be a 5 star place!
Be sure to make a reservation for Sunday brunch!!
Auriel
Food is incredible. I’ve been here a lot in the first few months of operation and I know there are hurdles to overcome, but for dine-in experience, it has been wonderful. (Carry out is a different story—hence minus one ⭐️.
Dine-in
Drinks with their lemonade are delish! The sweet and spicy sandwich is great too, but my favorite item is the cast iron pork! So good!! The Brussels sprouts are a win as well! The mac and cheese is mediocre but I’v heard the greens are good! Wait staff are kind and I’ve had great service!
Carry-out
I’ve only done it once and the esperience was horrible. We were told a pick-up time and when I went in (a little after the pick-up time) I was told about 10-15 minutes before the food was ready. This order was larger, for a group of 10, but it wasn’t unbearable and could have been done in the 90 minute window they gave us. After 15 minutes I went back and the hostess informed me it would be another 10 minutes. At that point I asked to talk to a manager, but she came back with the food… sooo I’m not sure what happened but this is definitely a dine-in place, in my opinion.
Reynelle
Absolutely perfect wish I could eat there everyday but I'd be big as hell.
Brett Boterman
Great restaurant for brunch we split the po-boy shrimp sandwich and fried chicken. Everything was delicious and the atmosphere and service were next level.
Dr. Shontina Gladney (Eat.Play.Grind.)
Great environment and the food is Excellent. #EatPlayGrind

People have been raving about this place on facebook so my fiancée and I finally got a chance to go on 10/23. Great customer service by Kiara who knew the menu and had awesome suggestions. The food was great flavorful and cooked to perfection. The drinks were well mixed as well. Just an overall great experience. I highly recommend and look forward to returning.
Shirley Burks
Nice location. The food was okay however I wouldn't clarify it as "southern". Friendly service.
Rachel C Stevens
Good service, lovely food, sidewalk patio seating as well as in door. I also enjoyed the the ethnic/cultural diversity among the patrons.
S M
Food was fair, my dinner came out some time after hubby's. They did comp us for app & 2 drinks which was nice. Waitress was very nice. Went for hubby's birthday
Cory Fuhrman
Awesome Food and Service. Julia was a delight. Very friendly and attentive.
Meghan Mitoraj
Had a lovely time at Tupelo Honey! Had amazing brunch and it was so cute on the inside! Would highly recommend! They also have cute glasses (one of which I was given for Halloween from the manager!) thank you again for a great experience!

so glad I didn't let the mixed reviews scare me away. Talk about surprise & delight? This was it! Love southern cuisine and trying restaurants that have exclusive recipes that you can't get anywhere else is my kinda experience. The chicken and waffles were AMAZEMENT. But this was not ordinary chicken and waffles (hint). Denise was our server and she did not hold back on the delightfulness. She anticipated our needs like clock work. Very pleasant & helpful. Setting was modern and playful. This is the place you wanna take your guest to impress with a local staple. I like the diverse crowd. It has a upscale feeling but a relaxed and casual atmosphere. Favorite summer dress & heels or jeans and tshirt. It all works! It is superrrr busy. Be prepared to wait for food but worth it. Mac n cheese was spot on. The only thing missing is corn bread or cornbread muffins. Southern dont do this type of food (greens) without corn bread. My mother looked at the waiter like "blasphemy" had taken place when she gave a soft no on the corn bread. Havent had the infamous biscuits yet but other than that....see ya soon! I am a writer. Hope you enjoyed the review.
mad yeti
Excellent Southern inspired food. Shrimp & Grits.. and Chicken & Waffles were very good.. Sign up for the app for discounts.. $20 off on Birthday!! Very hospitable service.
Joy Ensign
Food was fantastic. Chicken and waffles were perfect and apps and dessert were awesome. The house wine was also really good.
Tracy Booth Lewis (TBL)
Been wanting to try Tupelo Honey since they opened... Virginia Beach, Virginia was the first place I tried Tupelo Honey .
The food is spot on. Southern fried chicken mac n cheese excellent excellent food.
Must Go !!!
hayley collins
I’m from the south and this menu was so amazing. I got the mac and cheese waffles, as well as fried pickles SPOT ON delicious. The inside it self is beautiful as well.
Kim Beamon
Country gravy chicken and waffles
Rochelle Eagles
I had the Asheville chicken and mac n cheese waffle. The chicken is very crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. The waffle was crispy on the outside and had a mild Mac and cheese flavor on the inside. The gravy and pickles on top enhanced the flavors.
Mariah Lopez
Cute place for the experience. Appetizers were delightful. On the other hand the entrees were not the best, they lacked flavor, and some arrived cold. My waitress was not attentive and missed some marks. I don’t think I will be going back.
matt huffman
Love the Big Cobb the first few times I had it, but the most recent was a disappointment. Mixed shredded cheese, they forgot the extra bacon, when it was brought original and extra bacon were vastly different, much like the cheese.
Stacey Tyler
Everything was very tasty
Robert Myers
Food was pretty good! Prices were reasonable and the service was very good! Not sure though if they offer syrup for the waffles for those who prefer it without a sauce or gravy? Good experience overall!
Tou Vue Moua
Friendly service and delicious food. Will definitely be returning 🍗🥞🍹 …
Julie A
The food was delicious..I tried several items. The homemade biscuits with blueberry jam and butter were delicious. Also I love the fried green tomatoes. Everything I had was greay.
Keith Woeltje
Good southern cuisine with a modern twist. Great service.
Alex G
They weren’t kidding when they named it “heavenly banana pudding” It’s SO GOOD!
Kursten Robinson-Gray
The service was really good. The place was very modern and cute. The food was just ok. I had the sweet and spicy chicken sandwich the sauce was good on the sandwich, the chicken wasn't season well.
Angela Williams-Crane
Not real southern food. It's fancy food with a southern flair but it was bland. You are paying for the name not the food
Amanda Pautz
Food was good. I felt like I was at a bougie cracker barrel. Parking was not ideal having to pay during the day :( otherwise it was nice and had a cool aesthetic.
Andrew Kozlowski
We've visited both the Boise Idaho and Milwaukee Wisconsin locations. Both served delicious food and had great service. I hope the Milwaukee location sticks, as their fried chicken is delicious.
Vanna Martinez
Love the new restaurant! It's beautiful inside and outdoors eating area was nice as well. I had shrimp and grits! So good! It's a must try.
Luke Eichman
Good food. Had their chicken and waffles and had no complaints
Pookie Harder
Service is and was wonderful this is my second time coming And the taste doesn't disappoint.
Will recommend to anyone that likes spicy to try the honey Sriracha chicken and waffles, Amazing.
Patricia Hamilton
Only waited about 3 minutes for seating, with reservation, food was delish, service was great
Jose Herrera
Great food, great service, very busy place, highly recommend calling to make a reservation before you get there
Shuwei Wang
Had our birthday dinner at Tupelo honey and the food was amazing! Love the inside vibe and modern decor of the restaurant. Their chicken and waffles are huge!
Colleen Martin
Excellent food, service and atmosphere.. we will be back.. recommend reservations so you don't have y sit by the kitchen..they are busy!
Travis Chatfield
Hard to tell it's a chain. Had some of the best grits of my life there.
James Alexander
Loved it the food was delicious and the service was great
Olivia Komppa
The sangria was lovely and the shrimp & grits were tasty!
C Johnson
Milwaukee isn't known for it's fantastic southern cuisine. Even though this is a small chain and not local to the area, the food has finally given Milwaukee a good choice in southern cuisine.
Andy Gaba
Everything we had was excellent, chicken and waffles live up to the high expectations. Staff was friendly and the pace was good. We will go back for brunch.
Chris Martin
Been here twice now and I haven't been overly impressed either time. Food is okay but the drinks were better. Come for breakfast or brunch, but dinner wasn't the best.
Lexi Keener

This place was recommended by a stranger. Happy that we took their advise. Staff was great, food was great and the bartended was a pro. There is no doubt, when able, that I will go back to another of these restaraunts.

Best chicken and waffles in the city of Milwaukee. Anyone saying the food doesn’t taste good doesn’t know good food and your taste buds don’t work. 5 STARS ALL DAY

Wonderful food, great ambiance, music was too loud to have good conversation. Pork was wonderful one time and too spicy the next time.

I am from Atlanta. Great food but same complaint. You cannot eat soulish food without cornbread. The restaurant needs to add cornbread.
Darrin Young
It was nice. First time experience. The food was good and hot and the wait staff was awesome
Michael Stephens
Food was ok, was disappointed when we took a risk to sit inside with a mostly empty restaurant that they chose to sit us directly next to other people on multiple sides and right next to kitchen door. We asked to be moved outside which was great but there was no shade.
Jennie Howard
Food was really good. Good service, love the decor and outdoor patio. Looking forward to going back for brunch only specials :)

Food is good. Service was sort of slow due to shortage of workers, so not their fault. Portions are sort of small given the prices, but again, tasty food

Good food. Ok service. Very loud restaurant - no acoustic to help soften noise when it’s busy. Was a tad overwhelming and took away from experience as a result.
Brian Janecke
Excellent service, outstanding food and drink options. I highly recommend their grits! Their new Milwaukee space is a great location and really vibrant.

Good service, entree was good. Unfortunately they cook big batches and reheat the sides. Could be really good if they cook to order.
