Wow! OK this place doesn't look like much from outside but when you come inside you are immediately greeted by clean, crisp decorations that give a decidedly Asian feel. It is a modern nod to more popular Asian culture while still holding to classic elements. Once you order you might be put-off by their lack of a soda fountain, however, their use of glass and presentation as well as appropriate drink proportions makes up for it. Finally the food is amazing. They creatively join together flavors and texture in their sushi that wows your senses and delivers a truly enlightening experience. If that were not enough the sushi is presented on an over-large wooden cutting board. The extra space is filled with a beautiful and masterful sauce-design reminiscent of nature. I was encouraged to use the sauce with my meal and to my delight it was very tasty. I have sampled a lot of sushi in a lot of cities and I must say this is possibly my favorite! I was expecting a much larger bill for the quality I received, however, the prices were exceptionally reasonable. I highly recommend this location. Both the cook staff and wait staff were exceptional!

Amazing quality sushi. Great flavor and made in a timely manner. We also took our kids who loved their choices as well. The art on the plates were fun too! Had a signature drink which I would order again with fresh ingredients added in. Would eat here every week if we lived close. They were extremely friendly!

Best sushi I’ve had in a while!! I ordered a Godzilla roll and tai tea. The shrimp tempura in my roll was cooked fresh and filled with mouthwatering flavors. Perfect choice for my afternoon lunch! Definitely will be coming back when I’m in the area.

My 1st sushi!! I now know what I've been missing...great food and interesting drinks. I had a salmon skin roll and don't even remember the name of the other dishes! It was served in the shape of a fish on a serving board with the most intricate design of a dragon making up the SAUCES! Delicious! I can't recommend this place highly enough. 2nd visit to Spicy Tuna, equally delicious. Had the Miller Park, soft shell crab tempura, and chicken gyoza. Also the unfortunately named Angry Beaver. Excellent! Try the creamy iced tea.

This place was fantastic! Went here 2 Saturdays ago for a date night/late Valentines celebration. We made reservations in advance which made things super easy. Started off with a Thai tea that was absolutely delicious. Then had crab rangoons that were a perfect size to pop into your mouth for a one bite ball of absolutely delicious flavor. The sushi came out after a bit of time and not only is it some of the best sushi in that area. The presentation skills were the best I have had in Wisconsin. I will definitely be back again the next time I am in the area and craving sushi. It is a very laid back and chill atmosphere with no rush so you can sit and enjoy your time.

Loved the trio ramen. The noodles and meat were all perfectly cooked and the broth was delicious. Super filling for a very fair price. I'll definitely be coming here often whenever I'm at the VA!

Thought the place looked a bit sketchy pulling up, was unsure if we wanted to eat here.. Then we went inside and were blown away! The food was fantastic! (we had the fried California fill, and the Wisconsin roll) served up nice and fresh, bursting with flavor! They even made a BEAUTIFUL dragon out of sauce that was almost a shame to ruin! 10/10.. Would absolutely eat here again and recommend it to everyone I know!

We stumbled upon this restaurant and were pleasantly surprised!! The service was fast and the staff was very kind. It’s Halloween and we were shocked by the art on our sushi platter and the fact that the whole staff went 10/10 on Halloween costumes and decor. We are in love!

Delicious food and great sauce art! The Golden California roll was deep fried and warm, which was interesting and a nice twist on a classic. The Spicy BKK had some nice Thai flavors and wasnt very spicy (it's listed as double spicy). I will definitely come back, and not just for the art!

This place was a nice little surprise. The outside is untouched and you walk in skeptical but are pleasantly surprised once inside. The decore was simple, but clean and inviting, the food was surprisingly fresh, had great presentation and had good flavor as well, it lost one star due to pricing being a little high in comparison to other places. Check it out and support your local restaurants!

This is my go to sushi place in Milwaukee! Usually I get the BEST service when I go and the atmosphere is nice. The sushi tastes the best in comparison to other sushi places in Milwaukee and they even go out their way to draw beautiful sauce paintings with your sushi. It’s art AND extra sauce! I’ve gotten dragons and even a Simba(from the lion king) on my visits!!

Sushi was great, did a beautiful job plating things. Only very minor complaints, none of which would stop me from coming again. Service was a little slow, even though it wasn't too busy. There may have been someone new, I also may have been a little impatient. It's also 1.50 for a can of soda which seems a bit steep considering other places charge that for fountain soda with refills. Overall great food though.

Excellent sushi and the presentation was fantastic. Almost like a work of art what they did with the various sauces. We tried a variety of sushi and it all was decent but our favorite was the spicy BKK. It is a small place and the sushi took a while but it was worth the wait.

Great service and great food. Sever was very engaging and willing to explain anything that was asked of her. One of the only places to do free draw with great design. Will be comming again in the future. Got the ice cream which was light and flavorful

This place was amazing. Me and my husband dined here and we we're very happy with the service here. Not only did they give us a complementary appetizer, but they also served us our sushi in a traditional way that allowed us to take our time and enjoy. The sushi chef is also an amazing artist. I took a few photos of what we ordered. I promise it tasted just as good as it looks. Very fresh meal.

The plates are gorgeous and the decor is cute. The menu is limited though, and mostly cooked rolls on their signature rolls which loses a star in my book. Service was also pretty slow considering we were the only ones there. The kids loved it, but the adults will not be back.

We have been coming here routinely for the past few months! Spicy Tuna does not disappoint! The food is delicious, the service is wonderful, and the presentation is amazing! We have been to so many sushi restaurants in Milwaukee but this one takes the cake!! Wednesdays are half off cocktails and Thursdays are half off bottle of wine, perfect for date nights! Their sushi is extremely flavorful, colorful, and unique! Check it out!

Sushi was so delicious. Quality and freshness of the fish was excellent! Super friendly staff and great atmosphere. So far “Angry Beaver “ and “Crocodile “are my favorite. We are definitely coming back to try all of the sushi signature rolls and ramen.

The short: go eat here. Do not hesitate. You will be very glad you did. I have eaten at 5 sushi places in Milwaukee now and this has so far been the best. I'll continue checking out the rest. Are you still reading? Stop it. Go eat. No, really, stop reading already. ... okay, can't help yourself? Then see below: The longer: Evidence supporting "the short" above: 1. I started writing this while still eating as I couldn't help expressing it quickly... I'm out of town on business, so don't worry, I am not ignoring anyone at my table. 2. They believe in artistry but aren't full of themselves... my water was served in a pint glass with a Miller Lite logo on it! (On a side note, I just realized, probably 30 years after first seeing, that Miller went the low road with the spelling of light.) 3. Do you know that savory, almost but not quite salty taste of fresh salmon sashimi? This has it. 4. Even the ginger (which I always like but eat minimally) seemed extra good, and I must have eaten triple my normal amount. 5. Seriously, look at the pictures. These aren't done just for review photos. My food looked like this, and I'm guessing it all does. 6. Hmm, now I'm just feeling full of myself... Still reading? The extras: I found the sashimi to be excellent, the nigiri to be great, and the roll I had (rainbow) to be good. The music was a great mix of mainly 80s, including Michael Jackson's Billie Jean. Do I have to stop listening to Michael due to the increasing likelihood of, well, let's not go there here. Oh, George Michael's on now. There we go! Was Spicy Tuna perfect? Of course not (I'm now picturing an expensive but worth it place near the beach on the big island of Hawaii, holy sh!t that was amazing... but duh, it was in Hawaii!) Spicy Tuna is an amazing sushi restaurant for Milwaukee. I dearly hope it does well and grows in popularity. The reviews on Yelp and Google are great but few enough in number that I get nervous about it busting through that new restaurant phase. Help out and come on by! (Okay, sorry, this is becoming an 'I miss the 80s' blog... now Matthew Wilder with Break My Stride.)

I was shocked i good the sushi was..I have ate at a lot of sushi joints including soon in Kenosha that has one sushi place of the year for many years and this place was awesome. Took a while to make food but when you look at the photos you know why

Sushi/Ramen shops are starting to become a hot ticket item in the city of Milwaukee. Spicy Tuna doesn't disappoint among the many. Unfortunately, we only had the opportunity to try their ramen (Tonkotsu and Beef Ramen pictured below), it was quite tasty. Price is on the higher end compared to other locations but it was well worth the first time visit! Next time we hit up Spicy Tuna, it'll actually be for their spicy tuna. Till then, see you next time.

This sushi is out of the park... As a traveler I have experienced a lot of sushi in the Midwest and they raised the bar. Presentation was beyond expectations and the ingenuity of how the ingredients are mixed will not disappoint. I have never had parmesan grated on top of a roll and now I don't know if I could go back to that time.... Just look at these photos

I had the Tonkotsu ramen and New York roll (eel, avocado, panko and eel sauce). For $12 I was worried the ramen would only have one piece of pork, like the menu photo. However, there are 3 generous size cuts and some tasty veggies. The noodles were springy and great. The broth was the main disappointment; there was no flavor and I had to add soy sauce. The sushi roll had a good rice to filling ratio. Unlike many other places, the rice was well cooked. Unfortunately, the service could be slightly better. Service was not rude at all, but neither pleasant. Very quick and straight forward. I wouldn't mind going back to try again.

A great new sushi and ramen spot near the VA. The staff is lovely and the sushi is not only presented beautifully (by far the best presentation I've seen), but it tastes fresh and delicious. The miso soup was a nice surprise as it was not loaded with salt and had nice flavor. I am looking forward to going back so I can try the ramen!

One of the most unique sushi places I've went to, gotta appreciate the artwork and detail they put into each roll. 2 specialty rolls and a classic for $27 is hands down worth it and plan on bringing people back next time!!

Had the avocado salad, excellent. Better than a Zupa's salad and less money. The kid says really good about the seafood ramen. Jay enjoyed the sushi. Super friendly server, very attentive to our needs. They even brought out a piece of carpet when we had to change a tire outside for cushion. Nice decor. Clean bathrooms.

I came in on a tuesday at 1:30 pm so that way there isnt alot of people and yet the waiter was very pushy , wouldnt smile. Spicy seafood noodles had a weird flavor and werent spicy at all. Sushi was good. Only got 2 dishes and 2 sodas for $50. Which i thought was a bit pricey. Floors and fake plants were dusty. No parking area.

Came in for lunch and found the place very quaint and the staff was very friendly. I did the 3 rolls for $14 which I felt was a great deal. It included a choice of salad or miso soup. The rolls tasted SO fresh, as well as the fish. I did a spicy tuna roll, a philly roll and a spicy yellowtail roll. Again, the fish tasted sooo fresh. And the rolls weren't too spicy, which I liked, so you could taste more of the fish. Long story short, very impressed. I've had a lot of sushi in Milwaukee and this was near the top for me. Can't wait to come back and try some other things. The menu looked excellent! Oh yeah, and the presentation was incredible!

I like that this place is no longer a sports bar. Milwaukee has too many sports bars. Spicy tuna is a quaint little sushi restaurant with a heart of gold. Very nice place to get ramen or sushi! I had the seafood ramen and hot matcha tea. It was delicious and the service was great! My friend had the beef ramen and one of their sushi rolls. The sushi came out first on a platter decorated for the new year because we went on New Year’s Day. I also ordered two sushi rolls to take home and can’t wait to have them for dinner.

Some of the best sushi I've had honestly. I picked this place at random from maps and I'll say the experience and the price of the food/quality of it are pretty much perfect. I left feeling very satisfied and am actually looking forward to going there again. The staff was really friendly and nice as well, we felt really welcome, get em a raise please One thing I appreciated was the menu kind of works with your budget a bit too so if you're a bit strapped you can still get a good amount of sushi for like $15 or you can ball out with some fancier rolls too. I do wish there was bubble tea, thats my only recommendation

Went for valentines day. Food was phenomenal! Didn't care for the carrot ginger dressing. Waitress was not that great. She came to our table maybe three times. Would definitely get food to go.

Use to love this place, I would even make the 20 minute drive from Oak Creek to come get it because it was one of my favorites. Tonight being one of the nights and another a month or so back. I had to wait an additional 50 minutes past the time they quoted me for my take out. It wouldnt be an issue if they told me that in the first place but then you are forced the wait outside or in your car until they have it done, and when it is done it seems the rolls have been rushed to be made. Really use to love this place but im thinking its time to find a different place -- EDIT 1-21-2022 After speaking to the owner, He informed me that they were going to make some changes to how they manager their carryout. After getting carryout today i was super impressed, my rolls stayed together all the way home and they even had it ready before we got there. Super happy with the changes, and even happier i don't have to find a new sushi place.

The atmosphere was more than friendly. It really is some of the best Japanese food around. You can tell the Chef has the knowledge and skills of a true 板前 (itamae). He has an artistic passion that comes through in his creations. I can't wait to go back and try more of the menu. I hope this place gets the recognition it deserves, it is on par with if not superior to some of those Japanese restaurants in the Marquette and downtown Milwaukee area. Finally someplace worth dining at in West Milwaukee.

This place was amazing! Don't let the hole in the wall exterior deceive you, this small restaurant has so many types of food to choose from. I had the Lion King Roll and it was so good! Plus since we went on July 3rd they served the sushi on a cutting board decorated with an Uncle Sam made from different colored sushi sauces.

Just had lunch at Spicy Tuna today. Outstanding. Had the Miller Park Roll and Philly Roll. Both just delicious. Also, the spring rolls were a great way to finish the meal. Literally what!?!?! The only way bad reviews exist are someone having a bad day, not experience. The current staff and atmosphere alone make the trip worth it then your senses are assaulted by the most delicious food you'll ever have and the best Thai tea too. 5 stars all around. I’m originally from Hawai’i and have had a hard time finding quality raw fish on the mainland so I was delighted when I found this place. It is definitely the best sushi/raw fish I’ve had here. Fast service, some of the best sushi I've ever had, and nice staff. This is the MOST underrated sushi spot in the entire city. Amazing food, beautiful presentation, and nice staff. *Update: I went there again, and this time with a friend I ordered their tuna tartare, a "normal roll" and a "specialty roll." You can tell by the tartare that they use very high quality fish, and the presentation was beautiful. When they brought us our rolls, the sushi chef made a jaw-dropping mesmerizing sauce art in the wood our sushi was placed on.

Tasty place! Best part about this place is the artwork they make when they bring your sushi out. Quaint and nice spot off the beaten path and really good and fresh sushi. Order some quality ramen takeout as a treat for my wife and I. The food was really good and the service was very pleasant. It's a bit difficult to find as it's signage is somewhat minimalistic for being on a busy road but all in all a very good experience.

First off if you are just looking for great sushi that’s reason enough to eat here! Follow that up with a staff who had smiles on their faces and were friendly along with good customer service it’s really did make for an enjoyable experience. It’s a new business so please support them and try them out. I came in for a quick to go order and ended up eating in and trying 3 different menu items and loved them all! Keep up the good work guys!

The only reason I gave this restaurant 4 stars is my sushi didn't contain a lot of fish - it was mainly rice and filling (crunch, jalapenos, etc). I would definitely stop here for lunch again in the future.

The service was awesome—fast and friendly—while the food was equally amazing. The plating here is next level and the chef must be praised separately for their artistry (see other review pics as well). For a $14 dollar, 3-roll w/ miso meal, I did not expect to be quite as wowed by the presentation. Also, this place is Veteran owned and appropriately located right across the street from the Milwaukee VA, so it is easy to find. Definitely stop in and give it a try!

Ordered Japanese crab fried rice... and it is delicious, then ordered the Dragon sushi, it was the best. Just returned and had the Spicy Seafood noodles in medium spice. Absolutely delicious, you want quality, healthy food and Environment, this is your place. Friendly staff, great food and huge menu.

Quaint little hole in the wall in West Milwaukee. Don't let the humble trappings fool you! The interior is small but nicely appointed. The menu is not extensive but offers all the usual favorites plus a few creative selections. Our rolls were skillfully made and artfully presented. But more to the point, the food was delicious! Spicy Tuna may just be my new favorite for sushi!

I had a very wonderful experience! Tried to order online to get delivery, sadly I live too far. But I spoke with someone who really made sure I could still get my order to me, so they remembered my order with my special requests, and then modified it as needed through a doordash order so I could still get it delivered. Food was excellent, especially the Angry Beaver roll, but I had mixed feelings about the cream cheese (could just be that it’s not cold enough since I live far). I plan on giving them more business!

Speaking as someone who lived most her life in California and loves authentic Asian cuisines, this is my new favorite place for ramen. Forget the fancy places downtown - they serve ramen that's way too salty. This place is legit. Their sushi presentation is amazing too. You get a cool picture drawn in sauce on every order. Also, try the creamy tea - it's like Thai tea with a lot of half n half. Yum!
