Reviews of Soup Market
It's soup season! I love this place. There's always 8-10 different types of soup. You can dine in, but I'll always take out because work. All the soups are made right there in the back. You can see the kitchen and the busy chefs running around. They cater to nearly everyone. Chilis, chicken noodles, beefy stick to your ribs, cream based, broth based, a little bit of everything.
My personal favorites are the African Peanut and chicken, or a beer cheese variation.
Customer service is good, and the rice crispy treat desserts are fresh that day. Get there before noon or your missing the popular dishes!
Underrated, great place to get a quick bite to eat and avoid traditional "fast food." Food is high quality and super quick. Prices are reasonable. Plan on $8-12 for soup, half sandwich, and a drink. 10/10 lunch spot!
The soups are fine ... nothing fantastic for the most part, but reasonably tasty and it seems as though using quality ingredients. Decent soup isn't free - so I understand the price. today, a bowl of reasonable gazpacho for I think $8 is decent. I do have an issue though - the person behind the counter, as well as all the staff in the back, were not wearing masks.
It's awkward - I'm wearing a mask out of respect to them and other customers, since they don't know whether I've been careful, or perhaps have been exposed and am a carrier. But apparently they don't respect me (their customer!!!) enough to want to show that they are being careful and want to protect me?
Not sure I'll go back again during the pandemic - it's just awkward. Maybe if they were doing curb-side pickup. Or if at least I could order (and pay) ahead and come quickly to snag the food and go. As it is, had to stand there with the person yakking away at me with no mask, and not even a partition between u. Urrgh!
Always good. The African peanut soup is a must. They were out of the tuna melt which is great everytime.
Good soups, I really like their Italian wedding soup. They shouldn’t be offering curbside pickup. They never answered their phone for the pickup and they only have one person working the store. So, If they have a customer in the store that one person is unable to run the order out to the car. Good food but bad service.
They always have at least one vegan soup so I'm guaranteed to find a good soup here for sure! Very filling, especially with the bread. Nice ambience, super friendly service, so glad they are here in my neighborhood! I'll keep on coming back, as I have since they opened. Oh, just a note, I gave it 4 stars for food only because I would like there to be even more vegan soups. If they had at least 3 on their menu daily, I would definitely give this a 5 star rating.
It makes me sad to see this place has low reviews not even based on the quality of the food/service. We come here regularly and absolutely love the delicious homemade soup. We enjoy that they change the soup often! The staff is also always so friendly and prompt.
Great lunch spot! Soup rotation provides a good variety
The African Peanut Soup is the best!!! And I like the huge pieces of bread that come with it. I just saw this "Profit" episode (never heard of the show before I saw all these negative reviews). I think the show is melodramatic and puts this great restaurant in a bad light. It's reality tv so remember to use your best judgement when reading theses reviews!Sure the food might not be the healthiest, but I still love it! And the staff at the Bay View location has always been super friendly. They even knew what soup I wanted since I came in the same time weekly. The only reason I don't patronize this place as often is because I moved. Go to the soup market and don't listen to these guys! It's great 😊
LOVE all the different soups they offer especially the African Peanut and Chicken Soup. So good! My only complaint is the one by my house isn't open on the weekends and I wish they were open later so I could make it there after work
Soon as you walk in your greeted with a wonderful hearty aroma. I spoke to a gentleman on the phone who gave great descriptions of the soups I had previously seen online. His service when I arrived was just as it was over the phone very reassuring and welcoming. I even received the neighborhood discount on my meal and the cheese tortellini soup and half turkey and swiss on whole wheat was very delicious. I'll definitely be back for more stamps on my cup card!!
Can’t speak to Dave or the poor ratings for this place. But delicious soups and quality ingredients on all of their sandwiches. I’ve visited multiple times - sure, sometimes they’ve been out of certain items but everything is very fresh and made daily. One of the first restaurants I’ve truly enjoyed the food at coming from Manhattan. Would recommend 👌🏼
Reasonable prices and wonderful soups! The clam chowder was very rich and 'chunky' (Aka lots of clams), the consistency was definitely on the thinner side (not super creamy) but it was well constructed and did not leave anything to desire on any front. The chicken dumpling was served with two scoops of dumpling and two scoops of chicken, both of which in broth for flavor but also guaranteed plenty of each when combined with the vegetables/broth. The sandwich was premade, probably that morning, but that meant it was fairly chilled and a bit soggy on one side. The rice crispy was also made at least several days if not weeks before, leaving it slightly stall, but nothing crazy. Overall a good experience and would definitely eat at again, but would probably just stick with the soup.
Rapidly becoming my new favorite lunch place, the soups are always delicious, and the sandwiches seem enticing. Nice variety of soups always available, which makes it easy to satisfy many different dietary needs and tastes.
They do have some really great soups, however, I noticed on a lot of the vegetarian cheese based ones, the first ingredient is water. I mean, that makes for a really bland base. I have had your cauliflower cheese soup before (probably a year or so ago) and it was so bland I had to add several packets of salt and pepper. Turned me off from trying any other vegetarian cheese soups. Just a useful tip, you could use veggie stock as the base, it will highlight the other flavors much more and make for a way tastier soup!
Have been going toSoup Market during pandemic. Don't understand reviews. Soups are hearty and filling and full of flavor. Well worth the cost. I plan on supporting them for as long as they are open.
Good soup. Not sure how rating a restaurant on based on a tv show is a fair, but each person is free to speak their mind in America. I was happy with the soup and bread when I ate here. Not as good as Soup Bros but still good.
This place is legit. Soup is good and fresh. Prices are really fair. But then they also have sandwiches, sweet treats, ice cream, chips, drinks, etc. The decor is nice. Definitely will return.
I’m not sure how people who have NEVER set foot in this place could possibly have an opinion about it. Judging a restaurant by an edited-for-drama tv show isn’t fair by any stretch. Their soup is crazy good. Their sandwiches are pretty decent.
Food is good. But 19 out of 20 visits they always,,not sometimes, forget to put a paid item(s) in the pick up bag.
The most amazing soups!!! It was such a delight talking to Dave (the owner). I loved hearing the stories about his grandmother and him making soups!! I will for sure be back!!
Good quality soups, and the menu has a good variety, from hearty chili to vegan selections. The bread that comes with the soup is real good quality too. Check then out.
I've been going here for a while and have always gotten a courteous staff, great service, and great soups. They always acknowledge when people come in and I've never had an issue with anything! Thanks for being Bay View! Please don't leave!
Best grill cheese in town and the soup is Awesome.. Love the African peanut and the Italian wedding soup. Keep up the good work ! Best of luck in 2019..😁😁😁❤❤❤ …
Egg salad sandwich was AWESOME.
This is a great place to get a soup and sandwich! The chili is great and the setup is pretty welcoming. I will be going back for more soups
Bayview location is always fantastic. Great service and the soup is always outstanding. Don't believe the low stars, bayview soup market rules!
Loved the Chicken Dumpling Soup! Very friendly hard working staff. I will definitely be back!
Great soups - love that they change the menu daily. The chicken, bacon, andouille sausage corn chowder is bomb.
Great place. The soup was out of this world. I had Southern black eyed pea with spicy sausage.
This place had awesome food. Hospitality was definitely more than 5 stars. Carrie and Chris were outstanding and very personable.
Tasty soups, great bread, vegan options.
This is a good lunch spot for a warm bowl of soup! I always do takeout, but they do have seating, too.
Dave is a great guy and there is no reason anyone in Milwaukee or anyone visiting shouldn't eat every meal here!!!!
I hadn't been back here in a couple years. Still awesome. LOVE the giant pieces of bread offered with the delicious soups.
Excellent service, food is the best around, the owner Dave takes pride in his work. Multiple locations for a reason.
Good food, stupid hours. Open up on weekends I'll come buy soup!
Excellent soups and service. The weirder the soup, the better it is, honestly. African peanut is the best!
No idea why they only have 2.4 place is great super friendly service and awesome soup
Amazing service. They went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied and the food was excellent
Quality Ingredients, Great Soups, Good Buisness, very Affordable, great customer service
Great food, interesting recipes, and the staff is always very nice!
There always seems to be enough chicken noodle to drown someone in, but they never have any of the specials towards the end of the day.
Love the unique variety of soups! Always delicious...
Great bowl of soup and fresh baked bread just the thing for a cold autumn evening.
Always an excellent selection of soups and always tasty!
Soup very good but staff forgot to wipe off containers and purchase fell out of the bag.

Best soups
Delicious 😋 …
My Florida body was delighted to find this restaurant right near where I was visiting during the coldest day I have ever experienced! Everything was fresh, and most importantly, the chicken noodle soup was very hot. I love that they add the noodles only when they pour a bowl so the noodles are always fresh and not mushy. The turkey Swiss was a nice size and just as delicious. I am sure I will visit again before I return to Florida.
Tried The Soup Market after visiting a local business and the African Peanut with Chicken soup was absolutely delicious! Can’t wait to go back and try another soup!
