Reviews of SafeHouse

Safe house was a great visit! Kids loved it. The food was good. Staff was friendly but not the quickest. Even after going I have no idea what the front door password was but I think that’s for the best! You will go in the alley door and do some silly activity to give access to the restaurant. Once inside you’ll be applauded for your dancing. Once inside you check in and if your table isn’t ready you can do a scavenger hunt around the restaurant. When your table is ready you’ll be taking there and end up in one of the fun rooms. They’re all pretty cool! Explore the place there’s a lot of fun stuff!

Don't go here unless you're ready for an 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦. From the very get-go you become a secret agent, and have to prove your friendly intentions to get inside. It's so fun for all ages!
Once inside, the place is spy-hideout from top to bottom. You could spend several evenings exploring the number of secrets and details scattered through this place. And the menu descriptions are amazing. I spent more time than anywhere else just reading the menu.
The food is actually pretty good as well. It's better-than-average bar food. We had the Fried C4 Cheese Curds, the Impossible Burger, Furtive Fish Fry, and the Mission Impossible burger.

SafeHouse was a great spot!! The theme & spy concept is awesome. Entering was my favorite part. The host asks if you know the password, if you don’t know the password they make you do a silly task. Our task was to do 3 karate moves before entering. We stopped in for just drinks and an appetizer. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very nice. The drinks & food were delicious! I definitely want to go back.

An exciting experience that needs polishing.
The service and staff were great, once you find your way into the venue it is tricky to pull find the entrance. Down the side and pull the handle to get it. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout.
The food and drinks were weak at above peak prices. The fries were thin and half cold with no condiments near by. It was small portions for premium prices. Just standard American food with spy names and special drink names only. An updated menu is needed with better quality food.
The environment and atmosphere was special and unique from the entrance to the tables. Even the bathrooms have a style to them. The atmosphere is fun and friendly. Had to access disabled people and no parking is present. Later we found out that there was an entertainment fee for $3 which did not make sense given the high prices for food and drink.

Must visit, very unique and fun. Food was good enough to make the spy adventure worth checking out with guests. It gets a bit confusing, but they created a great entertainment piece to liven up the dining experience.
Kashyap Sigdel
What a cool restaurant and what a great experience! If you haven’t been here before, you should go. The whole place is spy themed and it really shows based on how the entrance is laid out, the ambiance, how the servers greet you and the menu. Food was also good. I would take my friends and family here!
Steve Bae
I have to say this place was amazing. I really enjoyed trying to get into the restaurant. The food was very good. I have to say the fries are better than any chain place. And the scavenger idea was great! The service was amazing to me I felt very welcomed. And the best part was trying to get out! Hands down hidden gem which was great!
Ashley Renée Johnson
The kids really loved this restaurant and its spy theme. And the staff at SpyHouse are true angels - patient, kind, attentive...
The drinks at SafeHouse are good! And I got to take home one of the cocktail glasses. The menu is typical of an American theme restaurant and is seriously lacking in vegetarian or vegan options. I ended up with a salad that I ordered with no meat and unfortunately the cheese that was supposed to come with it was also left off. Oh well.
5 stars for the fun!! 2 stars for the menu. If you like burgers and fries though you are set.
Bradford Fleener
I cannot recommend this place highly enough! Definitely a must visit location. I don't want to spoil the experience, but it's full of hidden doors, cool memorabilia, clever jokes, and a cool spy vibe, that makes you feel like you're in on a big secret. The food was superb, and the signature cocktails delicious. A scavenger hunt through the establishment highlighted many cool things we might otherwise have overlooked, and was just as much fun for adults as kids.
Shawn Conklin
Super interesting and unique! Food and drinks were great. The magician was funny and the scavenger hunt kept us entertained even after our meal.
Julia Lynch
Had such a good time. My waiter was so in character and so funny and THE FOOD was incredible!! Pricey but the atmosphere and staff made it so worth it

Safehouse has been a Milwaukee staple for years, attracting spies of all ages. Don't be surprised when you first enter to be "interrogated" and made to do silly things (such as the hokey pokey) before you're allowed to enter, unless of course, you know the password! (No hints from me!) The food is pretty decent and offers pretty common bar-type fare. I did enjoy the cheese curds as they were light and crispy. The staff were very nice and I even overheard them accommodate a small group that was going to a show and were behind schedule. The best part of Safehouse is the decor and the fact that you get a recon mission to search throughout the restaurant to find cool artifacts!

What a great experience! You are in the right spot. Enter through the red door. I was surprised to find Agent Twerk greeting me inside. She was interesting to talk to. She held the information I needed and guided me on the right path. Once inside I began my successful mission. The cheese curds were fabulous and the MOAB was a tasty handful. The bar service was also pleasant and friendly. This is a must-stop in Milwaukee.

I have been wanting to experience the Safe House for a while now and finally made it in yesterday to celebrate my birthday. So glad we chose to come here, the place is really cool and filled with tons of things to see and do, it was really fun doing the scavenger hunt while we were waiting for our food.
We had a larger group and all of the staff were very accommodating and went above and beyond. Agent Giggles was our server and she was amazing to have and extremely patient with us while we were waiting on other guests to arrive.
All of our food was delicious! I really enjoyed the lavender legend lemonade, It was sooo good. The blackened chicken tenders and cheese curds were my favorite. Everything was flavorful and the presentation was nice too. To make it even more special They even came out with a birthday surprise which was a massive martini glass filled with chocolate cake, ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate and caramel ( also my favorite).
After 10pm it turned into a nightclub with a DJ and we ended the night dancing.
Will definitely be going back soon! So much fun, thank you!
Rachel McNamee
The food was delicious and quick the mocktails were amazing I love the thyme lemon throw away. I did not want to wait to have a table since I was alone so since I was at the bar I could only get the appetizers. That was fine because it was still delicious.
Kyle Smith
We were looking for a safe house and we found it! Always love this Milwaukee speakeasy! Great drinks and friendly staff!

Welcome to International Exports Mr. Bond. Enter thru the red door and be prepared for an interrogation to see if you're a double agent. The painting is watching your every move. Once you go through the secret door, you'll enjoy a tour of spycraft from around the world and through the decades. There is a tunnel that goes throughout the bar that serves you a martini. The Mac and cheese has a good kick to it from the chipotle peppers and is well made. The drinks are well mixed. Well worth the visit and if you have time, walk around and let the server give you a tour.
Paola Beatriz
Loved this pace. Such an original concept! From the entrance to waiting for food all the way up to exiting there’s something exciting.
Food was good! Love that their menu included and labeled vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options.
Portions: The nachos were great and huge!
The fish sticks was reasonable.
Prices: prices are really good related to the portions.
Service: was really good, waiters were nice and fun by always sticking to the spy theme.
Parking: available on the street and we didn’t have much issue finding a spot.
Ambience: casual. Indoor seating only!
Evan Fino
Haven't been here in years, but was in town with the family. I thought our kids (ages 5 and 9) would enjoy. The absolutely loved it. Our waitress was amazing, the new(?) updates were welcome. Seems overall cleaner than what I remembered. Also, the food was actually pretty good, and not just passable.
It was the highlight of our trip. We are excited to go back!
Misty W
We loved the safehouse! Secret entry was fantastic and the woman who let us in was the best! Good food and drinks. So much to see inside. Definitely worth a stop.
Lovely Miya
It's so hidden and fun to walk around and see all the little hidden things. The food is really good and the atmosphere is just fun.
Vanessa Depies
Wha a unique place to eat! The Safe House is truly one of a kind in the area! Super easy to find off of any mapping source. Once you’re in it’s like a whole different world inside. The staff is wonderful and the food is delicious! We only did appetizers and drinks, however that was perfect! One error on our behalf is we went a Sunday night and did not have a reservation, thinking you wouldn’t. However, I do highly recommend a reservation when you are visiting! Definitely a great place for a girls night or friends night out!
Kelsey Philippe
There is something here for ANYONE. Kids will have a blast and as two adults in their 20's we LOVED the drinks (and luckily our hotel was close enough to walk back because the drinks were HUGE) The food was priced to the atmosphere and was subpar but the take home glasses (actual glass) are now a signature piece in our homebar!
Hans Hinrichsen
This is a really fun experience, and one I want to stay around. The staff and menu feel tired, but I think this place is still worth visiting. Be aware there is a low "experience fee" added on to the bill. For me it's worth it. My take: if they make the menu a bit more interesting and put a little more effort into keeping the room feeling fresh, they still have a great experience going.
Andreas Baker
Came here for the first time with my girlfriend, overall I enjoyed it. Guy at the front was cool, and the experience/atmosphere in the restaurant was great. We did end up having to wait quite a bit, first for our table and then close to an hour for our food after we had ordered, which ended up being good, nothing special just normal good restaurant food. Could've been either the waitress or the kitchen at fault for the long wait for the food. Despite all that, I'm willing to give this place a second chance, and feel like next time will be much better.
Scott
The service and food were great and even though the wait was long for a table, there was plenty to explore here.
The moving wall was broken though.
Simone LaPierre
Just so fun! Great place for kids big and small! And the funny, talented and beautiful magician (Bianca??) Was really helpful in solving some of the riddles.
Great staff and yummy bar food. Best straw fries!! Yummy drinks! Dont forget the password!!
Tracy Parlier
We can not say enough about Ryan & Marin (Agent Powers)! Outstanding service! Lily & Evan had the best time with Ryan (that guy) as they kept saying. Marin’s professionalism while keeping character was great. With Lily being high risk & our outings being minimal we were able to be seated away from anyone (Thank You). Ryan & Marin are outstanding & really went above & beyond to make our experience a great one.
Robert barton
DO NOT like the mandatory tip. We had a group of 10 and got extremely poor service from our waitress. I can only assume it was because she is guaranteed her 20% tip. Smaller groups do not have the mandatory tip. They seemed to be getting much better service. Food was good. The experience was good. The service ruined the evening for me. May or may not return because a use of this.
writer1rex and the open mind
It has been 36 years since I was last here. I was still as child like as the first time. So much to do and see and very good food. This is a place for families as well as date nights. If you are in Milwaukee or just passing through the Safehouse is well worth the visit.
Charity Koenemann
Fun experience, great service, and a beautiful building with lots of history. We were lucky enough to get a special one on one tour by Agent Frog detailing some of the wonderful history of the building and city. Agent Owl was fantastic as well; being sure to help ‘clue us in’ and ensuring we got the full experience. If we’re ever lucky enough to visit Milwaukee again we will definitely be back for dinner and some magic!
Carla Centeno
Eclectic and iconic restaurant and bar that's been around for quite some time. An actual Safe House which is like a puzzle in which you have to figure out clues to to get in and out of secret spaces, walk ways, short tunnels, revolving doorways and etc. Visited by many famous celebrities. Very entertaining place.

This was a fun dinner for a group of sleuth sisters. We didn't know the password and the bouncer's attempt to play us against each other didn't quite work out, but we had so much fun during the discussion and after a group hug we were allowed in. The entire place is so worth exploring, caused laughter and discussions and we enjoyed the food and drinks. We'll be back for sure when we get to this place
JC Nicolai
An incredible experience that you will not forget. The energy of the staff and patrons is infectious, fun and inclusive. The vibe is an old school speakeasy secret agent atmosphere. Like a good movie, there is so much to discover that you'll want to go back time and again.
David B
This is definitely a must see whether you live in Milwaukee or are just visiting. Lots of fun, the food is good, the service is good, and the atmosphere is excellent. They have several bars within the restaurant, one has a magician. The place is loaded with historical spy history, there's a password requirement to get in, otherwise you'll be made to do ridiculous stuff to get in, and on camera for everyone inside to see. And a secret exit if you find it. There's even a drink that comes delivered through a tube system.

The SafeHouse is the one restaurant I always stop in at whenever I'm in Milwaukee, even if I'm staying way out on the west side in Wauwatosa or West Allis, and have to pay for a ride downtown. And if possible, I try to visit in the afternoon so as to avoid the evening crowds and fully enjoy the wall-to-wall spy motif, and the little, uh...tricks the place has to offer. This isn't just one of the coolest restaurants in Milwaukee, but one of the coolest in the world. I can't speak for the whole menu because I love their Reuben sandwiches and usually order one of them, but friends I've taken who have ordered other items have always enjoyed them; like most Milwaukee restaurants, the portions are big for the price. And yes, you are asked to provide a password to enter, but if you don't have it you can still get in, it just takes a bit more work.

Went Monday night for a date night. Had a reservation for 6pm and we got there early at 5:30pm. We did the hokey pokey to get in and we were seated right away. Our waiter was Agent Diamond, she very attentive and pleasant! I asked for a strawberry lemonade, she said they didn't have it on the menu but she was sure she could make it. She brought me what she was able to put together and it was good! We the ordered appetizers "C4 cheese curds" and "compromised chips" they arrived hot and were delicious! Some of the best fried cheese curds I've had at a restaurant!
Next was the main course, our waiter didn't rush us at all, we told her we wanted to wait till after our appetizer to order the main meal and that was what we did. Both of us ordered the "Mission Impossible Burger" it was in our opinion one of the best burgers we have ever had, a tasty beef patty with maple bacon and a light topping of jalapeños! Cheese and an onion ring to finish it off!
The "Recon Duty" was fun and my date and I finished the list before we left.
My only complaint would be the bartender at the main bar with the bug map, while he did help with the Recon Duty, he seemed disinterested in doing so and it took a while to get his attention.
The lady at the Magic Bar was very funny and helpful on completing some of the Recon Duty tasks!
All in all I would go again!
Donn Hussey
Highly recommend. Is there better food out there? Well, yeah. Are there better drinks? Yeah.
A better experience? No. This place is cool. If you just want to fill your gullet and get liquored up well there are perhaps other options. But if you want to explore and be entertained and have some fun along with your dinner, you can’t ask for a better place. The service was brilliant and exploring is so much fun. Go there. You won’t regret it.
Audra Kramer
This place used to be awesome…then it got bought out by a big company and now it is really just a bar. Many of the cool spy things are broken and just for looks, before it used to be a really fun place to explore. The last time I was there I paid $10 for a nonalcoholic lemonade…I would say it isn’t worth the trip anymore.
Becky Ott
Cool to experience. Got in without having to do anything funny. Fun atmosphere. Bartenders were nice. Lots of fun things to do. Nachos were meh, would try other things on menu next time
mike krukowski
This Milwaukee gem has been around since 1966 and is one of the most unique place I've ever been to in the world!
Fun password required to enter, spy theme bar and restaurant with great food and a great selection of brewskis!
Whether I'm here for a real estate meeting or a book signing event for the memoirs of a former CIA agent, the Safe House never fails to deliver a fun experience!
Josh Tarnowski
The SafeHouse is best visited when you don't know where you're going, so if at all possible, come to this place knowing nothing, the experience will be much more exciting.
If you don't like surprises then know that it is a spy themed restaurant that features an interesting entrance requirement (hope you know the password! But I'm not telling you) and very professional and in-character hosts and bartenders. The interior is host to an uncountable amount of spy and espionage artwork and tools.
Joe Britton
My review should be taken with a grain of salt. We came around 11 at night. They had already shut down the kitchen and sent most of the staff home. It was a Saturday night though so I feel it was a little early to be shutting down. The atmosphere was great and it's a great place to check out. Because most of the staff was gone though most of the tables were covered with glasses and dishes from previous guest that weren't being cleaned up. Of the staff still there I saw 3 separate staff playing on their phones with their chargers plugged in.
Heather Clark
Cool atmosphere, terrible service. I had to ask 3 times for my beer, only to be told it was out. I get it, that happens, ordered a different kind and waited over 20 minutes before I got it. I heard another server really interacting with the kids at the next table, giving them spy names and talking about how to get a free souvenir glass. It is my son’s 11th birthday (which I noted on the reservation) and our server never mentioned his birthday or talked about any of the things the other server did. Very disappointed.
Rada Duvall
My husband has been wanting to take me here. He slyly walked me down the alleyway toward the discreet entrance door. I said "Look at this place it looks cool." And he said "okay let's check it out open the door..." He knew what it was but I didn't and it made it all the more fun and exciting. We had to disclose the password and what happened after that stays at Safehouse. I love that I got to keep my martini glass! 👏🍁🤩
Maria Mendieta
Wonderful place , we have and amazing time trying to figure it out the clues, the food was delicious and the personal so nice, the magic show was phenomenal, love this place
Elijah Chivers
The best thing about this place besides the food was how unique the theme if the restaurant is. Everyone is professional and stays in character as well. I had no idea what i was getting myself into but it was super worth it.
Relief Guy
This place is so cool! From the time you walk in the front door to the time you walk out the secret exit. Surprising the food was very good. Excellent bar for the rotation.
Aimee Bryant
This place was so neat to see and experience. I just wish the food was better. My husband and I both barely ate half of our sandwiches. I recommend getting appetizers but you have to experience this place.
Lisa Brahm
We had a great time! The atmosphere is uniquely fun! Bartender severed up some of the best Brandy Old-fashioneds in the Milwaukee area, (think Ishnala Old-fashioneds caliber). The food was just as delicious. Our Server gave top notch service and was incredibly funny with her quick-witt and banter.
Wis Co
Fun time to get in. Have to know the password. (I did but chose not to give it). We have to do a belly bump battle to get in. Drinks and fun abound but the food is a bit subpar. Had the Cheese curbs as an appetizer and they were not really very hot (given how quickly they came, it was suprising..). Tacos were ok, nothing to write home about. Two tacos whereas at most places you would get three for that price. Go for the fun, but not the food so much.
Laura Liesch
Food was good. However they charged a $3 "entertainment fee" AND a $3 "service fee". And they only take cash if you don't need any change.
Draco Whisp
I've been 4 times in the past 5 months, and each time the meals have gotten more and more expensive, and today they got rid of the mocktails, which I loved and had recommended to my friends before we arrived.
It's not bad, but it's getting pricier for a more and more "OK" experience
morgan elizabeth
our server agent goldilocks - so fun and attentive. made the experience so fun
food - meh.
environment - amazing! so fun and creative.
overall, come for the apps and drinks over the meals.
Emily Anderson
Went here for the bond brunch this past Sunday. It's a fun spot. We all got the bottomless mimosas and the service was great. We stopped at the magic bar for some tricks and shots. The food was alright overall. I really liked my burger someone got a skillet and said it was just okay. Overall it was a good experience.
Christopher Reyna
We went later in the night. It was still a fun place to go. After the initial dance routine, we were seated and served really quick. It was a very unusual place but really fun.
Christopher Kimler
Really unique and quirky place to eat. Good food.
Rebecca Acton
First time going, and I would definitely recommend to others looking for a super fun, unique experience. Plus the food is delicious!!
Bryon
Awesome environment, super nice staff. You can spend all day here if you're looking for a safe house to hang out in. I came for the geocache, and arrived after 11pm... they close at 1am but the kitchen was already shut down. No big deal though. It was quite an experience checking everything out. Will come back next time I'm in the area and spend more time
traleynan
Best speakeasy I've every been to hands down. A must in my opinion when you're in Milwaukee and definitely go out via the secret exit when you leave.
Gary Stanko
A little confusing to find the entry in an alley. Service was a little slow but the food was worth the wait. The prime rib sandwich is excellent!
Jovi
Fun bar but I’ll pass on the food! Food taste like it was fried in old grease. Onions rings taste a little fishy. My server didn’t even tell me I get a souvenir cup. A guest that was sitting next to me mentioned it. Check it out and you be the judge.
Breitner M
Very interesting place, like a must see if you have time in the area. Won’t share much to not spoil the experience:)
My only recommendation is to pay attention to the food, my burger was a bit salty and the coleslaw had little dressing.
Staff is super friendly, definitely would recommend this place!
Sang Đoàn
Wonderful service. One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been in Milwaukee. Our group has people from China, Vietnam, and Korean. We all love this place. Agent Ch. was amazing :D, he is knowledgeable and friendly. We would definitely love to come back.
Karen
The place has potential but my experience was not the best. Had to wait for an hour for my order to be ready, then they forget the fries, food was extremely greasy and tasted okay, nothing crazy. They don't follow covid protocols.
Neal Letteney
I know the Safehouse is a Milwaukee tradition and an essential place to experience while in the city. But it has become tired and rather rundown. And worse than that, the food is mediocre at best. Some have said that the food improved since the Marcus Corporation bought the restaurant, but that wasn't my experience. I had a burger, and the brioche bun was clearly old enough that it broke into pieces at the first touch. The meat patties (and I love smash burgers) lacked flavor and were on the small side. The cheese curds were good - to their credit, they get their curds from Ellsworth Dairy. I only ate half my burger though and didn't bother to take the other half home with me. The highlight of the night was the magician. He was outstanding, singlehandedly earning the Safehouse the 4th star I awarded. You'll watch him, knowing it's all slight-of-hand, yet not be able to detect a single thing he does to create the illusion. He's highly practiced and has attained great expertise. Be sure to tip him well!
Elida Solis
Based off the reviews I was expecting only to come for dessert but I'm glad we went ahead and ate because:
-Nachos were awesome, don't eat jalapenos if you can't handle the kick
-Onion rings were crispy and battered there yum
-Curds were sold out (dang)
-Corn dogs were great (says my son)
-Mojitos come in full size cups for only 5.50
-Blue mooon also about $5
-French fries were described as "thinner than McDonalds but less oily." I agree and good.
First time visitors can sign up for email coupon.
We didn't know how busy it would be on a Sunday night, it was an hour wait so be prepared. We walked 1 block north to ice skate and kill time. We also got to sit in a very cool enclosed booth and had great service, we didn't do great on the scavenger hunt but it was cool to explore. Can't wait to return!
Dennis Anderson
I do love this place. It's a tad expensive but the experience is worth it alone. There is so much to look at. Totally worth the trip if you are in town.
Emilio Wilson
This place is a little off beat but worth coming to when u get here. You have to know what the password is before you get in. If you don't know it like I did you will have to do something extraordinary to get in. I had to sing twinkle twinkle little star in an opera voice while the restaurant is looking at you.. it's ok they didn't hear me sing...lol..
But look around the place for clues and especially to get out.. good luck. Plus the food is not bad either.
IxRisor “IxRisor452” 452
An absolute blast, definitely worth a stop for every tourist. We heard about the place from a Lyft driver, and I could not be happier about the recommendation. Food was amazing, service was fun and very kind, and the whole spy theme is so much fun. If you don’t know the password to get in, be careful because you will have to do a test to enter! (It’s usually something small, like doing air karate). A great restaurant, and absolutely worth a stop for everyone.
Jessica Moore
Amazing atmosphere! Staff were fun and engaging. Make sure you know the password to get in, or you will be required to earn your entrance! The children/secret agents were given a scavenger hunt!
Nicholas Bauer
Don’t worry if you don’t know the password, always a fun way to get into the restaurant. Once you are in, non-stop fun in this spy themed restaurant. Food and cocktails are delicious and the waiters/waitresses do a great job of keeping the theme and have great trivia/history to keep you on your toes.
Kurt Shimala
2022 tip, have reservations if you want to eat here. We stopped in on a Sunday night, and while the restaurant was 70% empty, they couldn’t seat our group of 6. 2 of us got a drink at the bar and wandered around and it’s obvious that it’s a matter of staffing (like everywhere else). Was a cool place and glad we were able to wander around, just could see a lot of tables not cleaned off and minimal servers around. Just don’t make the mistake we did!
Aubrey Coats
Such a blast! Team is always in character which is fun! Lots to look at, food is great! Magic bar is alot of fun and actor is great & too funny!
Carl Busch
Was told to check out this place. Felt a little over hyped. Best part was the cheese curds
Paid $9 for a Gose beer which seemed a little ridiculous. Wife had a pear cocktail amd was overly sweet.
We wouldn't go back.
Heather Tubbs
This is a very cool place. Great food and service. Would have given 5 stars however we paid $21 for a Spytini and it did not need the expectation on the menu. It was not shaken as described and I did not get a souvenir glass. Disappointed. Everything else was very cool!
Tedd Lookatch
Kitschy with a good kitchen is hard to find. They've solved the mystery good food and drink choices abound. It's your never taken the challenge come and try it out. Don't miss the magic bar.

This place was ok! I wasn't really impressed with the food. It was not very tasty! The cheese curds were a little salty but my granddaughter loved them. I got fish tacos. They brought out cold fries! There is a lot to look at there but I wasn't a fan of the food. Also there is all kinds of way to trick you into spending a dollar here or there. Don't fall for it is all I am going to say!!!!! The wait staff was nice!

We have been there before and have had excellent service and a good experience. This time the experience was not so good. Our waitress seemed new which is course not her fault. But she did not know the beer list. Food came out before the appetizer. But they made good and gave the appetizer for free. My daughter's food was cooked incorrectly was sent back twice. Then when the bill came there was a up charge of about $7 on my daughter's food because she switched a meat Patty out for a veggie patty. The waitress could not exactly explain that so the manager came over he also gave a very poor explanation as to why the up charges there. When we questioned him further he really had no answer other than that's just how it is. So he agreed to adjust it to the price of the regular burger which of course was the right thing to do. This is a spy themed restaurant and the staff did a very poor job of keeping that theme alive this time in the past they've been very good about it and made it a fun experience.
Eryn Goriup
Amazing and fun! Food has gotten better since my last visit, but still kind of expensive. Your definitely paying for the experience, but it's worth it
Mary Jo Reinecke
Very unique place for dinner, we had to park a couple blocks away cause of Harley Anniversary going on. Also restaurant was very busy, had 3 tables ( total of 13 ) our table was first to get orders in but somehow didn’t get our food till last. In fact some of our group were finished when we received our food. No worries because there is plenty to look around at and puzzles to solve.
You need to know the password to get inside the restaurant or else you have to do some skit that they determine. I had the blue cheese burger, food was good.
David Ernst
The magician bartender was fun (Josh). Enjoyed the show and my wife loved their specialty drinks. That part of the bucket list will more than likely be revisited.
Gualter Amarelo
This has to be one of the coolest and well done speak easiest I have been to across the country!
The staff was fun and I love the themes of each room!
Marty
Ambience was pretty good but it has declined in recent years, it was much more lively and the themeing was better when I first visited back in mid 2019. The food is good but note: the kitchen closes at 7:00pm so if you want a real meal you should order before 6:45
Bri C
Be aware- this is a bit mature in content for kiddos. Quite a few inappropriate pictures throughout. Also, just for parents to know- there is a trans person doing the magic show that is part of the scavenger hunt.
The food wasn’t very good, you pay for the experience not the food.
Nick
If you you are from out of town or are from Milwaukee and haven’t been here, it’s a must go. The magic bar is great. Lots of great experiences, you need to explore. Don’t just sit at the bar.
Jessica Steen
Such a fun place to eat. From the second you walk through the door and giving the phrase to the food and service, the whole thing was fun. The servers were great!
Adam Irlander (Majorchaoz)
Awesome experience just to walk about. Definitely look out for Noah the greeter whos funny as can be, John the bartender with years of experience and knowledge of drinks and inside scoop and Serena the magician bartender that amazes.
Rob Long
Great restaurant. Environment is awesome having to come in through the alleyway really makes you feel incognito. Great service fun staff as well as an entertaining scavenger hunt while waiting for food
Devin Muellenbach
A go-to place for delicious food, amazing service, and an INCREDIBLE atmosphere and experience! And after 10pm, they have a no-kids party with a DJ and drinks until 2am! Have fun exploring, agents! 🕵
Monica M
I hadn’t been here in over a decade and it was still just as cool as I remembered it. Lots of cool posters and spy memorabilia. The staff must go into extensive training because they were always on point with the code language they used and keeping the theme alive throughout the venue. Cool to explore while waiting for food to arrive.
B.J. Gober
This is a Milwaukee tradition since 1960's.If your looking for a little entertainment with food or.drinks.
Daniel Annear
We decided to give the safehouse a try on a Saturday night and we're very happy with our decision. The safehouse is such a unique bar and has a ton of history to it. The entrance is in an alley and the entrance doesn't look like a bar entrance. You need a password or you will have to do a silly act in which everyone in the bar can see. Leaving the bar is also fun! Would recommend for anyone who has yet to go!
Miranda Revels
Honestly I was really excited to come here. The atmosphere is fun and the food was pretty decent, but that's where my stars stop. The wait to get a table was a bit outrageous, we were content just wandering around, but others were getting pretty agitated. (About an hour.) And I'm not sure if that's their persona, but our waiter was a bit rude. I'd come again maybe during the week, but never again on a weekend.
Steve Kane
Went with a group of people and had a blast. Little hard to find the place. Go in the red door in the ally and then a person inside let’s you in.
holly baumel
Fun place! I've wanted to visit for years and never had. I'm glad I finally got there. We had fun exploring all there is to see. Sooooo much to see!
Shaun Hayes
I've stopped here both times I've visited Milwaukee. Such a fun experience. One of the most unique restaurants I've ever visited.
Richard Severin
A few items were off. The Mac and cheese was the Mac Daddy. So much fun!! Always get the Agent with green hair!
Kevin Buchanan
The experience and magic show is awesome! But don't expect much from the kitchen..it's just par.
Well worth the visit though
Bryan Glanz
The atmosphere is great, a great concept. Do not go for food quality. If on food alone, I would've ranked 1 star.
Slevin74 R
I’ve gone to this restaurant many times it’s always a fun time and love to take new people here. Great theme
Garret K
This is a great spot for a one of a kind dining experience. I have been going here since I was a kid and if you even remotely like spy movies then this place is for you.
Brad Sinclair
The entire place was reserved. I would tell you to make reservations. We ordered drinks and walked around with the kids. They had fun.
Dylan Swirkowski
Excellent Milwaukee spot to take friends and family for a fun evening out. Highly recommend researching the secret entrance and exit to add to the experience.
Bob Christian
What a fun place for the entire family. If you haven't been here yet, make it a point to visit.
Neal Steffek
Great place, even better that people with kids seem to hate it here! Good, keep it for us adults, we don't want your kids here.
Tashina Howard
The place itself is awesome but it was a pretty bad experience. After being seated, we waited for about 10 minutes for our server - I figured they were possibly understaffed so after that I went to the bar and got us our drinks myself. The bartender asked who our server was and I said I didn't know - I then went back to the table where someone else who said she wasn't our server came up to the table and took our order. The original person who was apparently supposed to be our server then came up and said she had to leave. We weren't sure what that meant for who would be serving us then, but a runner brought the food out and mine was not correct. After waiting for someone to check on us and see how the food was for the next 5 minutes, I then went up and spoke to someone at the server station and asked for the correct food. The correct food was brought out pretty quickly after that which was awesome but then no one checked on us again. After waiting another 15 minutes following finishing eating I went up to the server station again and asked for the bill - which was wrong and did not have our drinks on it so I had to then go up to the bar and ask for a separate one until they told me they had fixed it and it was now all on one. I understand there are gaps in communication sometimes and something can go wrong especially with everyone being short-staffed... But we spent $115 there and I basically was my own server. I still left $15 as a tip because I have never not tipped anywhere but I could not bring myself to tip more nor did I feel like I should have left even that amount that's how disappointed I was. Good burger though.
Aubrey G.
Fun for the kids for a little bit. Very crowded main dining area, pretty stuffy, and quite a long wait despite many empty tables. The food was pretty pricey for the taste, which was just average to below average. The woman at the door taking the password was amazing and made the kids laugh but during the scavenger hunt they got pretty bored. Also got charged an entertainment fee which i could understand but I figured they would include it into the price of the food. Overall an okay experience and the kids liked it but don’t think we’ll be back.
Michael Abrego
Upon visiting the location during my trip to Wisconsin, this was a very good and very fun place to be at. To enter the restaurant there is a little task you must complete prior to entering the restaurant, UNLESS you know the password. It was very entertaining to be honest. The food and drinks were pretty good as well and the waitress we had was Agent Goldilocks. That was pretty cool that they are given code names and are needing to stay in character. Now the reason it gets 4 stars here is because although the food is great, it did seem a bit overpriced. The additional fees at the end for like the, "Entertainment fee" and others didn't make sense to charge if the food is already pretty expensive. We were a bit confused because we understand tipping but the other fees, unless they are going to the waiter and waitresses, those should not be an existing fee without prior disclosure. All in all it was a great experience but at the end is where it lost that one star.
GHOSTL0V3
You could spend HOURS looking and finding all of the little details. Food is good, drinks are GREAT, and the atmosphere is very welcoming and fun.
Rob Dapirate
This place was a lot of fun. The spy theme was great and there was a lot of fun stuff to look at. The food was just okay. I got the Philly and my wife got the mac n cheese. The concept was super fun, the password room was funny, and the secret exit was fun too. We just wished the food was a bit higher quality considering the 'damage report.'
Samuel Modjewski
AMAZING! We went with a small adult group and it was a blast. The theme is awesome and all the employees are super into it which completely makes the experience. I would defiantly recommend to anyone looking for a fun night out! Oh and make sure you get this great desert in the picture!
johnsko Johns
Great bartender, lots of fun in this gem.
Erica R
the entrance was great! the guy that lets you in was funny and it was like no other restaurant! the hostess told us to sit at the bar but we just kinda stood there since the bar was full. super awkward lol we had to wait for a spot to open up. but the drinks were amazing. the bartender mark was super fast making drinks! definitely will be back !!
Andrew Davis
Super fun place for a date or a meal with the family. Theme is awesome and staff stays in character. The food is very good and even reasonably priced. Anna our server was very friendly and helpful. Definitely will return, but you have to check this place out for yourself.
ericka luke
Definitely the best food in Milwaukee hands-down
Absolutely love this place food comes out super hot and taste amazing 5 stars
Jakob Baumhardt
Really fun place. A good time exploring the differs rooms. Going to the bathroom is almost an adventure (In a good way). Cocktails were okay but the souvenir glasses are pretty dang cool. Best part was just getting in to the place. No spoilers but I found it really fun. Defiantly worth a visit.
Jim Wilson
Wasn't sure what we were getting into, was told to go by a friend that went there in 1980. Was frustrated that Google maps took us to the wrong place until I realized the joe was on us, it was a spy themed place with no sign on the door other than something about imports and exports. Finally figured it out, the entry was hilarious! Interesting to walk about and see the quirky decorations. Staff was great, very helpful. Food was OK, had beer, burger, chips and cheese curds. Small portions but well prepared. Go for the fun, not the food!
Kelli M
Fun place. A little cheesy but I couldnt stop smiling and laughing. The restaurant is like a maze and it was hard to find an open bar area for 4 people. We settled for a regular table away from the bar. I didnt try any food and my drink wasn't that great. Fun place to check out if you've never been.
Jen C
Found this location while doing some geocaching. Convinced some other DC folks to join me since none of us were in the mood for another uppity bar charade night or raucous sports local. This was unique enough to hit the smile factor, average food, and friendly service. Only issue was the ridiculously pungent piss smell in the toilets- NY subway smells cleaner!
Carrie
Couldn't find the password, but will still return if I have another mission to Milwaukee. Enjoyed the beer and cheese, after all we were in Wisconsin. Super friendly and entertaining staff. Enjoyed exploring and reading about everything. With control agents surrounding us we escaped using some magic the barkeep shared with us. Visited the Newsroom the next night, but we went in disguise as to not be noticed.
L N
So fun for kids and adults. Went on a weekday for lunch and got a private tour and history
Amber Lyons
I've been waiting patiently for at least 10 years to get a chance to eat at SafeHouse. It was a great experience. The "missions" are fun and entertaining. Our server, Agent KGB, was excellent! I ordered the Cuban and it was delicious but, don't pass up the cheese curds.
Rachith T S
Great place, great theme - unique experience and great fun. 3 stars for the people who served food and average food. (their cocktail menu is good ;-)). Seemed to be very lethargic. Maybe because it was a Sunday morning and Saturday that had a late night party. But that's not an acceptable excuse. Only a few seemed to be friendly and made our experience better.
Lead Sled
Such a cool environment and experience. Scavenger hunt while you wait for your food. If you need help ask the magician bartender. Food was ok, one plate came cold, otherwise good. Second time visiting from out of town. Its worth it, if you can find it😉 …
Jerrod Quin
Wow best themed restaurant in Milwaukee I have tried so far. Amazing service and food. Quality atmosphere and awesome employees fun spygame included. Agent Venus was on point and worth requesting. I give this place a 10 out of 10 BTW I am never this nice in my reviews. Agent Golden Snitch was amazing as well history knowledge was amazing. GIVING A 50 PERCENT TIP!!!
jake gabriel
Super unique bar downtown with really good vibes, and atmosphere. Good food and friendly staff 👌 …
Denise Collins
Agent Stone was absolutely awesome. She made sure my mother enjoyed celebrating her 80th bday lunch with me. Agent Stone is in a pic with mom. Fish fry was the best! Happy 55 Anniversary to you Safe House. 🍻 here’s to another 55 …
Jacob Clark
Place is awesome and totally worth the wait. Highly recommend the food was great. Service was great. Suave was an awesome waiter. The safehouse is fun to walk around and see the decor while you are waiting to be seated.
Robert Russell
Awesome place. It is for sure worth the trouble to find. It is now on my favorite list. The staff and food are amazing.
Alyssa Woodruff
This place is AMAZING. They do not half-ass a single thing. The attention to detail is absolutely immaculate. This place would be great anyways, because the food and drinks are delicious, but the spy theme is taken so seriously, and that is what makes this place a treasure. My friends and I had so, so much fun. If you come to the state of Wisconsin at all, you have to come here and see for yourself.
John Burns
Such a fun experience. Food was amazing. Staff was even better. 10/10 recommend
Belinda Allen
It was great food and fun! We got the special table that spins. It was awesome!
Matt Graves
Loved this place... you need a password to get in otherwise you have to do a forfeit! Once through the revolving bookcase and secret entrance enter into the world of espionage, spies and secret agents! Great homely food and fun activities!
L A
A long time Milwaukee staple for tourists and still unique enough for a special fun night out. Unfortunately, though staff tries their best to provide good service, the kitchen and bar continues to be a weak point in terms of food quality and s-l-o-w-n-e-s-s. I still find the experience is worth a visit, especially when entertaining out of town guests. On the plus side are their BLTs, burgers, and cheese curds.
Steven H
The food was good and the place was even cooler than I expected. Spend some time there to get a tour, do the scavenger hunt, watch a magical bartender, and play with everything else you can. We were there for almost two hours it was almost enough.
Breanna Unger
A MUST SEE / DO IF YOU'RE IN THE AREA!!
Probably the coolest place I've eaten at in a long time! There's a password to get in, and I'd you don't know it, they make you do some sort of silly dance. Oh yeah, and there's a camera and everyone inside the bar gets to watch your sick moves!
The entire staff stayed in character and seemed enthusiastic about being there, which contributed to the fun environment.
There's also a little scavenger hunt (optional) which you can complete while you wait for your food. It takes you on a sort of self-guided tour throughout the spacious, interesting restaurant.
Oh yeah, the food and drink was also 🔥🔥🔥
AJ Smith
This bar was absolutely [redacted]! Out waitress, [redacted], was more than courteous in teaching us [redacted]. Would recommend the [redacted] with a side of [redacted]. [Redacted]/5!!!
-Approved by Central Command with Redactions.
William Berdine
Fun place. Good cheese curds. Turned me on to a Wisconsin old-fashioned
Jay Wood
Rating based on the sheer creativity. Really took the spy theme to a whole new level. Really fun for the whole family. Food is OK at best. Go for the ambiance, not the food.
Kenzee
The experience was great and the spy mission was so fun! The building is so cool to look around. There was always something new to find and see. Unfortunately our food was cold when we got it and it took four tries to get a drink that they had in stock.
Lorelei Harvey
This was such a fun place to come! Not knowing the password was even more fun because I got to get into the spy mood by completing a secret task! The agents are all super friendly and the atmosphere is so excellent! I had the grenade launcher, the cheese curds (best ive had in a LONG time) and the MOAB! Agent Eagle Eye and Agent Copper were so fun to interact with and were the perfect amount of attentive without being overbearing! Conversation was easy and I wish I was in town for longer so I could come back again! Also the Spy PA was an excellent IPA and the BEST pun. There's so many cool details in here, and I can tell how much love went into curating the decor!
If I could give six stars, I would!
Michael Croft
Have been going here for over 30 years...still love it. A Milwaukee landmark. Took my 10 yr old son for hi birthday and had lots of fun. Great family place during lunch. Lots of fun with friends at night. Will be back again.
Larry Crisco
Fun place but getting old and tired. Many things didn't work including the puzzle wall and the magician.
Tracy Schallhorn
Amazing food and atmosphere! Get the horseradish sauce for the cheese curds!
Lindsey Ford
Fun atmosphere. Word to the wise- make a reservation. Sandwich (Cuban Missle Crisis) was delicious as was the pretzel. Not normally a chip person, but the chips were amazing. Got a side of mac & cheese, it had no flavor & was watered down. Loved the Magic Bar & magician! Don't skip dessert
Gwen Lutz
This is a definite experience that should be checked off your list when coming to Milwaukee. My waitress was Agent Orange and she made my dining experience so much fun. The Safe House is filled with interesting facts throughout including a fun, filled scavenger hunt. Huge thanks to Agent Orange for making my entire experience phenomenal. Go out of your way and request her to have an exceptional Safe House experience.
Amber Darr
The food was ok which is why I gave this place 4 stars but the experience was worth my while. I love the twists and turns and random doors of this place. I know I paid a dollar to be trapped in a small space just to end up outside of the restaurant lol. Clever.
Ryan Estrada
It was fun and weird, but be aware that everything they advertise as part of the experience may just not happen. We drove many MANY hours to drop in for lunch, which was delayed 30 minutes when their food delivery truck blocked the entire one way street it is on for much of the afternoon, with us trapped right behind it. I finally got out and parked, then went to the door. We knocked, nothing. Some more guests lined up behind us. We were all on our phones desperately searching for the protocol we missed to get asked for the password. Finally someone said to try the door. We walked in, no one was there to ask us anything. We stood confused for a bit. Then some surprised guy came in and said "Oh! Hey, Sorry, you can just go in." After entering we found out that the TVs and sound system were not working. There's a weird sound booth that was also not working that I didn't know until after I put money in the slot. There was still enough silly stuff around that tricks you into embarrassing yourself to make it entertaining, but not a fan of paying a mandatory 3 dollar entertainment fee on my bill when they just decided to not do any of it. The maximum the staff got involved in the show was by saying the word "agent" a lot while they talked. Also, this is a nitpick, but the fact that they have both a Mission Impossible Burger and an Impossible Burger is dangerous. One is meat and one is vegetarian, and that is just asking for trouble. Someone's gonna get the wrong thing and get sick.
Nate Fietzer
Food was delicious and the agents that helped us out we're great! Giving it only four stars though because the food was expensive for what you got.
Amy Schwengels
Always a fun experience. We took our two middle-school aged kids who have never been there before and they both loved it. They enjoyed exploring the place with the provided scavenger hunt. There are some stairs and dark corners in this place which may make it difficult for small children or elderly with walking difficulties. Edited to add that I would highly recommend making reservations. We went on a weeknight and it was busy and saw many walk-ins turned away due to the long wait time.
Michael Boroczk
Wow I cant I finally made it to safe house. It is everything I imagined it would be great atmosphere fun people. I highly recommend the Safe house
CMDR Conner
Thought it was a trendy watering hole, was wrong. There is no password, even if you know it they still want you to do silly things. Great place for kids before 8pm. Food was way overcooked, salad was good, prices were decent.
Barry Yen
Very interesting and many mechanisms
Nice burger
Mia Walters
agent venus absolutely rocked! my table had amazing service from her and definitely made sure we were satisfied with our visit!
Jules Madrigal
So much fun! Give in and just enjoy being a spy. The atmosphere is so much fun. The food is really good as well. Get the Mac & cheese or fish & chips
多田理央
An absolutely amazing speakeasy in Milwaukee with incredible food, cocktails and an awesome vibe. Our server, Agent Copper, was an absolute sweetheart and she provided an astounding level of service. I really cannot speak highly enough this establishment and would encourage any Milwaukee visitors to give this place a try
Jamie Ast
Cool layout and it was fun to go though and open up different doors and explore the different areas. If you're planning to go, definitely go for the atmosphere and drinks. I didn't think the food was very good.
Kevin Gilbert
What a great place. Food is good and the experience is truly unique. Everyone does such a good job sticking to the spy theme. Free photo booth is such a great touch and way to remember your visit
Ben A (MB)
A really unique place with friendly staff and an awesome theme
Chris S.
Fun, quirky place that needs to be experienced in person at least once. Lots to look at and enjoy. Food ok- not showstoppers, but you can't beat real Wisconsin cheese curds.
Chris hoover
Something you should experience at least once. It's been better in the past. For the experience the higher price you pay for food is worth it.
Timya
The process of getting in is always fun. I know the password and have never had to dance. However, I never tell anyone that I come with what the password is. It’s always a little bit of a wait. The experience of walking around, following the clues has always been fun about this place. How to go back soon!
Sherrice Harrell
This is a really fun place. Happy hour is awesome! 1/2 off drinks and appetizers.
Delaney
Such an unexpected fun lunch. I don't want to spoil the surprises that are paired but I do believe you get your money's worth at this wonderfully themed place. You'll be sure to tell your friends about the fun that was had. I do believe this would be a great place to bring a first date to break the ice, see how well you work together on tasks, and have a good laugh.
Rodney Tolbert
Great atmosphere fun and interesting props, ask about trap door. Very good food.
Jeff Renaud
I have visited the SafeHouse multiple times with out of town guests. The novelty and theme of the restaurant is fun and lives up to the hype. Unfortunately the food and service have never impressed me.
Theresa Rubin
This experience was so fun! From finding the way in to the magician, our 8-year-old was thrilled. The food is not the focus but it was good too!
Keith Meyers
Amazing food, drinks, staff, and atmosphere.
If you like history, food, or spies make sure you visit.
Ended up going for lunch and returning for dinner!
Thank you to Agent Worldwide for incredible hospitality during our dinner including an impromptu tour with a few other tables. Made us feel very welcome.
Andrew Beyer
Fun restaurant with pretty good food. Service and atmosphere are great!
Anthony Perez
Definitely the coolest bar in the whole Midwest hands down. You, need a password to just get in.
Ella Lewis
One of the most imaginative restaurants. Skill and creativity goes into every dish. A real foodie place.
Anne DiMotto
Great place with a fun theme and tasty food and drinks. Do be aware they are requiring reservations and will turn you away if you don't have them.
Roger Thomson
Neat spy themed "speakeasy" with off alley entrance and password entry. Can imagine how one functioned during prohibition, and always amazed at how these hidden gems stay open while hiding from public sight
Jacob Rindfleisch
Basically my favorite place in Milwaukee. I love the theme and the food is fantastic. Highly recommend. Great for families.
Erin Locke
Holy cow, what an experience! Lunch and drinks were great. The SafeHouse Bloody Mary was incredible, and I would definitely get it again. However, the atmosphere was easily the most unforgettable part. My boyfriend & I were seated in the booth that spins, and at the end of our meal, our waitress pushed a button that made our booth spin around to the press club room on Wells. She gave us a very neat history lesson on the press club & their mummified cat! I loved the theming and unique decor. All in all a wonderful experience.
RICK
After finding the entrance we didn't know the password so we had to do a dance to enter. This place had a real cool feel to it. Unfortunately we did not eat since the wait was 1.5 hours. We just had drinks and walked around looking at everything. I really would like to go back in the evening some time to get the whole experience.
Ian McKilligan
Very fun place if you're a spy fan. It's a little hard to find (goes with the theme), and I think the food was just a bit above average. The spy "museum" and spy trivia hunt were great though, and the kids also enjoyed the museum. Overall, it was worth checking out.
Kula Sekhar Mitta
Very unique place.. We have visited for the first time..
Alex
Very cool and unique place! So much fun and great place to walk around. Food was great.
Mark Mandelbaum
Explore your surroundings to find the entrance. Know the password or prove you are not a spy. If you are truthful, gain access to this cold war relic.
Jordan Horvath
Cuban Missile Crisis sandwich was ehh but incredible atmosphere. Such a cool experience!!!
MyKala Rosendale
Had an absolute blast here. The pineapple beer we had on tap was the best I've ever had. Although I wished I remembered the name of it! Definitely fun to run around and try to find all the clues and made for a great night. The staff was also a hoot. The only disappointmentwnt was our non blended margarita, although it was still tasty.
Jesus Enrique Nañez
Agent Clover was awesome! She gave us a tour of the place and was super informative. The bartenders were nice and made tasty margaritas.
MING JUWAN
The Cheese Curds are delicious 😋😋😋 And the dipping sauces are amazing!! …
Josh Riedy
Really cool and fun place. Kind of kid friendly... Some of the pictures and stuff on the wall would be questionable for some people. Food was good but nothing special. Was kind of pricey but you are paying for such a cool environment and the entertainment.
Sabrina Self
Safehouse is a really cool place to go out and enjoy a date night or take the family. There is a self led scavenger hunt while you wait for your food which was really fun. The atmosphere is on point. I wish we would have sat at the bar because this seems like a great place to drink the night away. However, food is expensive($13+ entree and ~13+ drink) and I wouldn't say amazing but still good. The prices are definitely there to keep this place as cool as possible with no entry fee or minimum payment. For two people we spent around $60 for the night. My soon to be husband and I are definitely planning on returning. There were just so many things to explore and read that we couldn't squeeze into one visit!
Satoshi Nakamoto
This place is so cool. Make sure to discover the password before showing up.
Donovan Davis
Always amazing service. Love the staff, and love the atmosphere.
Benny Ri
What a cool place! Had no idea what we were in for but had a blast with wife and daughter. Activities kept us busy and my food was delicious (big Mac and cheese entree). Wife had the burger but was thought it was nothing extraordinary. Still, an overall great time.
Kernell Sanders
Got the two hot dogs with fries and wife got the Mac and cheese with chicken and broccoli. Dogs were meh, long and skinny on bread (not a bun) like super thick slices of bread that were split down the middle just deep enough for the dog and it was too much and too dry if I'm being honest. Would recommend just using a fancy artisan bun if you wanna be different but still tasty because that kinda robbed the dogs of flavor and no matter how much topping I put on it didn't offset the dryness of the bread. Wifes Mac and cheese was awesome though 10/10 on that stuff. We also had a pretzel with chili beer cheese as an app which was alright. Took a second for us to find the door due to the"theme" of the place and the entry procedure is a little quirky. Overall just a bit too much "in character" from the staff and it felt kinda tacky, and I love role-playing/larping/live action events so yeah... Dial it back, read each client or have a code word for people wanting to play along? Kinda cringey hearing the waitress ask "did you have time to decode the menu agent?". Also u can do a scavenger hunt that seems fairly lengthy and get a percentage off store merch if you like the place enough to invest in products they are selling. The waitress insisted we do the hunt which felt like a sales pitch directed by management. Would I go back? Not likely. Drinks are insanely overpriced, $8 bucks for a draft beer or like $15-25 for mixed drinks. A little pretentious for the atmosphere.
Liz Kneser
Hadn't been here in over 6 years! Was just as great as I remembered it. The food quality has improved and came out quickly, waitress was very helpful. Exploring everything is so much fun!! Definitely reccomend for anyone who hasn't been yet!
Chris Hernandez
It was a fun place with fun theming, food is just okay, drinks are also just okay too nothing wowing about it. A bit confusing layout, the whole thing is blocked off into section and it is kinda dark and has a few sets of stairs everywhere, so not very accessible if you have difficulties
Dean Wiley
What a fun experience. The bar staff was friendly and the space was an eclectic mix of spy themes. Would definitely recommend it if you are in Milwaukee.
Aaron Lee
Good, but suffering from Covid syndrome. Our server was very nice, and our experience was generally fun, but the staff clearly were stretched far too thin. If you don't have the staffing for it, require reservations or limit tables. Our appetizer was delivered before we even got basic (water) service, and drinks took a laughably long time. Refills took so much time we just stopped asking.
It's a fantastic concept, and I'm sure when they are functioning properly, it's great, but this just wasn't it.
Selendra Barefield
Very different. Best to go early or during the week so that you have room to go on a scavenger hunt; otherwise you have to dodge others on the hunt and their waitstaff.
James Formolo
Very unique and fun experience. Good service and tasty food. Take some time just wandering around the place as there is much to take in. Look for the phone booth exit to cap off the night!
Veronica Macey
AMAZING!! This place is so much fun. The environment and staff is friendly and quirky in a good way. There is definitely a ghost there. I experienced something impossible when I was there BUT who doesn't love the paranormal. Or was it all part of the fun????? Go there and find out for yourself!!!!
Sabin
I had some friends visit from out of town, and I remembered that the Safe House was a must-see. We were sat after a 45-minute wait, and placed our orders. I asked for no jalapenos on my nachos appetizer, and I think they put extra. Inedible for me. The moment our entrees came, they shut off nearly all the lights and started playing some obscene club music. I literally could not see my food; I had to eat by touch. The spy wall wasn't working, and we couldn't get the special exit to work. The drinks were good and the magician is talented. Most of the historical stuff is still visible, so there was enough there to make it worthwhile, but I will never be back here on a Saturday, and I recommend you avoid it on Saturdays too.
Dee Joy Leroux
It was kinda cool to look around and there was a free photo booth which was fun.
Dexter
Food was good, but very small portions considering the price. Fun place to take the family.
Miguel Bautista
First time i visited this place. Was a great experience. My waitress was super friendly. The music was great. Me and my wife dances after our dinner. Definitely visiting again.
Alexandro Huitron
Great concept, great barman conversation and the entrance it was very fun. Fully recommend and obvioisly I will com back again.
Troy Wrightstone
Really awesome little prohibition speak easy. Lots of history and the experience was super fun. Plus cheese curds!!!
Matt Chu
Very cool and unique pub and grill with a lot of neat memorabilia.
Melissa Brown
Food was great. Waitress was great. Getting in was fun as well as exploring the place. Would go back again and be a spy anytime!
J.C. Crow
My son and I were on vacation walking around downtown Milwaukee when we stumbled upon this place for dinner. What a fun experience. The staff is 100% committed to the spy theme, and the scavenger hunt is just the bit of fun you need to turn eating out into an experience you won't forget. Top that with great food and service and you get more than dinner. We don't live in Milwaukee but will absolutely come back when we're here. Take your kids and enjoy.
Tara Gillim
Fantastic spy-themed restaurant. Enough puzzles, paraphernalia, parody, props, and pneumatic tubes to keep one entertained for many visits. Wandering and exploring is encouraged, but be mindful of other spies trying to eat, pass through small corridors, uncover secrets, and discover treasures for themselves. If you don't figure out the secret exit for yourselves, politely ask an agent for a clue or assistance... You won't be disappointed! Sadly, I did note that with its many stairs and small passages, this would not make a good destination for those with mobility concerns, wheelchairs, scooters or elaborate strollers.
Julia
Great food and fun environment
Mark Forgette
Very fun spy bar! Food and drinks as good as the entertainment on the walls and the Magician in the back bar!
Sable Onyx
Went with my partner, understanding that walking in on a Saturday night there would be a bit of a wait. We came in and did the little test required to enter. Then went to the host stand to put our names in for a table. We were told we could do a scavenger hunt while we waited and order drinks at the bar. Bartender (stitch) was amazing. She was on top of drinks and still chatting with customers even though it was packed. We ended up being sat about 40ish minutes later (no problem there we were given a time estimate when we talked to the hostess). The problems started with our waitress. Ordered a drink from her and an appetizer. Didn’t even get my drink till my partner and I had finished our (generous amount of) cheese curds. Finished my drink by the time our entrees arrived, waitress did not offer or ask if I wanted another. I got Mac and cheese and was not given silverware. Had a laugh with the table next me as I attempted to use fries as chopsticks to eat my meal. I ended up walking all the way back to the host stand and asking for silverware (this was after literally raising my hand in an attempt to get any sort of attention from the staff), along with asking the hostess if I could order another drink. The hostess was very sympathetic and kind. I understand it was a very busy night, however I am concerned our waitress was not prepared to handle a night like this, she seemed young and a little overwhelmed. I would come back on week night maybe a little earlier. The food was good and the drinks were fun. It was a little difficult to explore with the amount of people. (Also for the comment I read stating you get “trapped” in a phone booth and they charge you $1.00 to leave, all you had to do was push on the door and you could enter back into the restaurant)
Mark Menet
A unique fun restaurant and bar with a spy theme. The burgers are really good, the staff is friendly and kids and childish adults will love exploring the restaurant. The password to get in is new england clam chowder.
Taylor Stewart
Awesome experience here! Very unique location with interesting history.
Peter Modjeski
Had a wonderful experience with friends and their children. The food was great, and available quickly.
The trivia and scavenger hunt for the children was supported by our server, who was great for providing hints and was very patient.
Megan G
Such a fun place to eat! Good food, reasonably priced.
Michael Murphy III
Best cheesecurds I've ever had. Def going back to this downtown location. For real best cheese curds I've ever had except for the fair. But otherwise. Hands down. Best. Cheesecurds
Sherelle Harris
Great atmosphere, good American food and drinks
Pam Hammond
The game they have was fun. They were wonderful about replacing an item that was served cold. Wasn't a fan of their bloody mary though.
Gustavo Ramos
The experience here was awesome and definitely worth checking out when in town!
Cool concept and the food was good. Service was a bit slow, but will definitely come again!
Jehan Salous
Thank you for your participation in halal week! The food in amazing and I’d love to see you go full time halal in the future!
Mark Willer
Average food but a fun spot, especially for out of town visitors
Richard B
The atmosphere is fun. We really enjoyed walking around with our kids trying to find the clues. They also have a magician behind the bar that does family friendly magic and engages well with the group. The downside was the food was really mediocre and definitely overpriced for what it was. I would recommend checking it out and just getting appetizers. I wouldn't plan on a good meal for the family.
Jaquana McNeill
This place is so cool! Just gaining access is entertaining in itself. If you know the password kudos! I recommend the Grenade Launcher as well! (pictured)
Madi Purifoy
Oh, I LOVE this place! It's the most fun restaurant ever! Me and my friend didn't know the password, so we had to do something really silly. This made it really fun. I also love the magic bar. I got to do some magic, and there was no logic to it, it was plain magic. The waiters stay in character, and the service is amazing. To keep the kids busy, they have missions to do after they order food. Even the exit is amazing. You get to answer a fake phone to leave into a really cool place. I didn't want to leave there! So, I highly, HIGHLY reccomend it. It is absolute that I will be going back there.
Elizabeth Beres
Celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary is perfect for our visit to the Safe House in Milwaukee. We continue to enjoy each others company and love to share our adventures with our friends and family. Thank you to Agent Alto and all the agents who were involved in this case of crime for the evening. We will definitely be looking forward to seeing this venue again soon.
Ellen Wehrman
So fun! Excellent drinks, big portion size on food (sorta makes up for price point). Magician bar was incredibly fun, though a little crowded at the time we arrived - not totally surprising, but people just weren't cycling through at a pace others could enjoy the show/get a drink. Atmosphere was high energy but laid back.
Greg Arnold
The scavenger hunt was great! My kids ran all over solving it. I enjoyed the Code Beer too.
zebulon rehn
Absolutely amazing spie themed bar with excellent food, drinks and wait staff. Hope you know the password ;)
Rachel Jones
Our server Pride was amazing! We will definitely be back and requesting him! There are tons of hidden easter eggs and fun nods to spies in pop culture, definitely worth checking out
Levi Kohlmann
Bartenders were friendly and the drinks were good. The atmosphere was a bit overcrowded, but not painfully so. All in all a great place, but try to go when it's not extremely busy.
Garrett Eiben
I want to give this 5 stars but the prices compared to the food is a little high. However, the place is an absolute blast. Went here for fun, turned into more of a date night, and it was a blast. The entry way to get in is a fun time. All the little puzzles are great. I loved their Mac and Cheese, 100% would get again and recommend to anyone!
Larry Revoir
Defiantly worth the experience. The service was fantastic. The food was great as well. Unfortunately, the booth was not very clean.
Juliana Alvarez Argote
Really cool and authentic place. I had an amazing salad and they have super nice cocktails. Good music and service. Really recommended.
Jean K
Fun! Saturday night 6 pm, so of course it was crowded. Go explore the place with your drink. Magician is very entertaining. Our dinner was good, took a long time, but that's what a weekend night is like. Enjoy the riddles and explore. We ordered burgers and cheese curds and a salad that had spicy chicken. All tasty. This place is not about dining it's about fun when you are there. So many spy things to figure out.
Zakrie S
Great Atmosphere, Great Drinks, and Awesome Food! Definitely Recommend, Ditch The Password and You’ll Have Fun Showing Off Your Awkward Skills! Haha
Janell McDonald - Travel Advisor
This is a must!! One of the coolest speakeasies I've ever been to. You'll find surprises around every corner.
Gwenetta Cullins
Great service and food. Hostess was awesome!
Chris G
Stopped in during a weekend in Milwaukee. Fun place with a great theme and unique decor to fit. Waited too long for a table especially since when they finally seated us it was in a booth that had been empty the entire time of our wait. They comped us a couple of drinks, which helped make up for it. Food was good as were the drinks. Would definitely go back, especially if back in town with another couple.
J0sephine Lee
Came here with my boyfriend and his 9 year old daughter. It was her first time and it was a ton of fun. It was busy but the employees did well in maintaining the espionage act for her. I would say this place is a great experience. Food was mediocre and a bit overpriced. Table was cluttered with too much like a table puzzle game etc I barely had room for my plate.
Ginny Hicks
Always a memorable visit! Our agent server, Unicorn, was a blast... And the slight of hand bartender was very entertaining. The food was excellent, the drinks delicious and I love adding to my drink glass collection. This place is a must-go stop whenever we're in the area.
Jerome Oneill
Fun for all ages. There is a password to enter. If you don't know it,you'll be required to do something in order to gain access. Don't panic, it's all great fun. We did ninja poses. It was hilarious. The whole place is spy themed including your interactions with staff. It's fun and different. The food is also great. It is a must do while in Milwaukee. You'll want to walk around ,there's a lot to this place. Enjoy!
Rachel Thompson
Awesome experience! A lot of fun. Keep your eyes open when inside the password is hidden within plain view!
Jason Strode
Went with the whole family and had a great time. Food is about a 3.5, but the atmosphere is awesome, and the staff is phenomenal. All super friendly and made for a great time for my wife and kids. The atmosphere and scavenger hunt for the kids were great. Recommend for a fun and memorable night.
Chance Dority
A lot of fun very interactive, good meals. Also, they know how to properly cook onion rings!!!
There are secrets everywhere, keep an eye out.
Linae Smits
Nice and quirky as 20 yrs ago. They have some very cool "features". There are a number of unusual booth set ups in areas, and a magic show in the back bar area. To enter the place you have to know a password. If not, they give you some other fun ways to gain entrance. Food and drink options are a mix. I didn't eat this time but they have good looking items on menu and prices are comparable to other typical eateries. That's the only comparable "typical" thing. It's is family friendly during the day also.
Isaac Schmitt
Had a great time!
Got the fish fry and a tequila old fashioned and both were amazing! Definitely going back whenever I'm in Milwaukee!
Jonathan Odegard
It's been some time since I had a "different " bar experience. This was a pleasant surprise. We went to safehouse with our 9 year old and a friend couple with their 5 year old. Between the special attention paid to the kids and the extra activities, it was a really entertaining lunch out. The spy activities were fun, and kitschy. The food could use some work, but to be fair, we were visiting at 2:00 on a Tuesday, not exactly peak time. Otherwise, great cocktails and a decent local beer selection. I wouldn't mind going back with just the adults at night to do a little spy role playing. Overall, a great experience.
Nick Hanauer
Cool themed restaurant that is a lot of fun to eat at and more fun to explore. Food was pretty good, but its the environment that sets it above the rest. We walked in on a tour and that was really cool. Only downside is it costs $1 to leave and "finish your mission", not a huge deal after just eating supper but, unexpected.
Sarah Rogers
We had an excellent time. The magician was great. The staff was enthusiastic. Everyone had fun exploring the space.
Madeline Hearn
My sister, brother-in-law, friend and I went here on a whim one night when we were in Milwaukee. (We are from Chicago.) I was so happy we did. It was an all-around great experience. SUCH a fun place! To enter, the gentleman at the entrance made us do fun activities like sing songs and do a dance, and we then entered into the spy-themed restaurant/bar. The owners truly went all-out, and the decorations are fantastic. The service was great, and the food was delicious. They also have a good selection of beer/alcohol. There are many fun rooms to explore as well. I definitely recommend this place to anybody visiting Milwaukee. I will have to check out the one in Chicago, too.
John Cortese
Wow this place is fantastic food was great and drinks were awesome. The ambiance and staff were also fantastic. I will visit everytime im in Milwaukee.
Christian Pruss
My new favorite place in Milwaukee! I come to visit once a year, first time here. Get the James bond martini
Jackie Porter
Safe House is awesome! Just as amazing as when Dave was still around. He'd be proud!! Agent Stitch was a delight! Very knowledgeable about food and drink menus! Will always keep coming back. Took family that are visiting for dinner and they really enjoyed themselves at Safehouse.
Trapper Danke
Amazing!! Great fun and great food. A real jewel of Milwaukee. Place is spy themed and my 13 year old son and myself loved exploring the restaurant. The wait staff did a superb job of being in character. Burgers were top notch at a fair price. Highly recommended.
Steve Albright
All of my children were born in March. We try to celebrate three birthdays at once. A week ago we attempted to set up reservations for a birthday party. Several years ago our Twin Boys celebrated their birthday with friends here and loved it. This time we were told that The Safe House no longer takes reservations. After arriving, we were told there would be a 3 hour wait. We left Disappointed. The following Week, I called management to clarify the reservations policy with the manager. (Shawn) He invited us back to give them a second chance. My kids had a great experience, My wife really enjoyed it. And as they say, "If Momma is happy..." The Safe House and management really worked hard to ensure that my children and I had a great experience. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!! I Rarely give anybody a Perfect score. Today I give this place a perfect score. Food was great, and we had a great time. Thank You Shawn and all!
Georgia Seever
booked the German room at the safe house and the food was excellent. That alone deserves 5 stars but the service was sub par at best. our waiter had to be reminded several times to bring out cups for our drinks. Getting into the safe house without the password is annoying and shouldn't be advertised for other patrons to see. Portions weren't reflected in the prices and other patrons shouldn't be able to get into a room if you booked it for a private party. 5 stars for the food and 2 stars for the wait staff and the ambience
Tony T
This was my first visit and it was amazing. The food was great. Our "handler" was very knowledgeable, and very polite. The atmosphere was cool everything around it but they had on the walls was pretty neat. The appetizer chicken tenders was amazing with their marmalade sauce. I would definitely recommend having the m o a b. It is called the mother of all burgers. And had amazing flavor. And if you guys are ever up in Milwaukee I would definitely check this place out. I would recommend coming here.
Rhianna Mengel
We went on a Thu early afternoon so the restaurant was fairly empty. Staff was great, showing our 3 yo around and showing her the "secret" things. I am a vegetarian that is dairy free for my nursing baby that has a dairy intolerance and the waitress was very knowledgeable of what was dairy free. Overall a neat place with good customer service.
Elizabeth Arnott
I’m sure this place is fun for a lot of people but I’m not one of them. It’s a gimmicky restaurant that I did not sign up for. Food is subpar and they charge an entertainment fee, even if you’re not entertained.
Tom Wester
I'll start by saying the food was delicious and the decor and ambiance was unique and entertaining. However, the service was extremely lackluster. My party of six waited for fifteen minutes before being acknowledge by staff. We then waited another half hour before our meal came out. The server made a sexist comment to one of our female companions which made the rest of our interactions awkward.
Amber Boetsma
Amazing atmosphere with very cool features. Worth a try for sure! If you're looking for exceptional food, look somewhere else, just basic american food that's priced a little high, but worth it for the atmosphere! Make sure to wander around and check EVERYTHING out. Hope to be back next time I am in Milwaukee!
Amanda Ybarra
The restaurant is definitely a fun experience! It is kid friendly during the day, and the servers are very nice and give a good background of the history of the restaurant. It is a little pricey, especially if you plan on having drinks.
Mike Jacka
What a great experience. This is more than just a cool place to grab a drink, it is an awesome experience place.
Heather CookElliott
We went for the atmosphere and some fun but thoroughly enjoyed the delicious food. The inside has been updated with all kinds of new fun features and we loved the Magic Bar and treasure hunt. We loved it and will totally back!
Carrie Mitchell
People come here for the experience not the menu
Margaret Berteau
Fun time in the city of Milwaukee. Great place to take family and friends. We would not have found this fun place if we saw someone coming out a door and we asked for the Safe House. Food was good. Hubby and I got into the fun and wondered around. Prohibition must have been a great time to be alive.
Jon Frankel
Super cool experience especially if you have children...it is a speakeasy/spy bar with secret entrance and clues to find. Good food 😋 and beer and service was speedy.
Marny Gamble
Lots of fun. I went into a phone booth and after a secret code I ended up outside of the building. SO MUCH FUN!
Food is great, prices are very affordable! The one downside is, we had to wait about an hour to be seated. Very busy place!
Matt Henneberry
The food is great and the atmosphere is amazing. Almost couldn't find the bathroom, but a very kind staff member pointed me the way. Great service and lots of fun activities. Love the entrance / exit, very clever. Would highly recommend.
Ashley Montgomery
A fun place to visit and have drinks. I have never eaten the food here though, and it has always been super packed everytime I was there. That was pre-covid though.
Danica Power
Fantastic place! The staff is all so incredibly in character and the entire restaurant would take hours to properly explore! Serena the magician/bartender is hilarious and such a good performer! And the food was great!!! Super tasty
Dan K
We had a great time here because it was such a unique experience. I've lived in the Milwaukee area for 30+ years and I had never been to the Safehouse. I've heard lots of stories, so there was plenty of hype built up. They definitely take everything to the nth degree. The decor, the servers, the literature all maintain the theme. Everyone was super friendly and it we had a good time walking around and taking it all in while waiting for our table. Unfortunately the food wasn't all that great. We had the fish fry which was below average with soggy fries, soggy fish, and bland tartar sauce and coleslaw. Everyone else at the table shared the same opinion. Very cool venue, worth the trip, but disappointing for food. We'll probably be back with friends, but for drinks only.
Ra Lumpy Limpy Hiker
Great atmosphere... even many times in. Exorbitant and expensive, in the way a Bachelorette party might be... but the service is generally great and the food Is OK.
Neil Surk
Very unique and fun place to check out!!
Patricia McRery
A fun place to take your visitors from out of town. The staff is excellent in there roles, interacting with the patrons. Nice to explore the place before and after eating. Food was good. Our company is still talking about it the next day.
C.T. Thieme
Fun. Like, a lot of fun. Don't be intimidated. Find the red door and let the adventure begin! And yeah, the food is great. Had a philly on bread that must have just come out of the oven and damn good prime rib.
Hurko Co
Very interesting place. Great for families, first dates, tourists, or regulars.
Jacquie Kiddo
We ate (the food was ok, but expensive) or waitress was cool, and the magic show was great. Years ago when I was there I remembered the being a lot more staff interaction and fun stuff to do. The fun stuff might still be there, but no one told us about it and I didn't remember.
Christine Jaegle
A little overpriced, but not horrible. I got the veggie burger, which was just a frozen patty & I've had better homemade patties for that price. Everyone else in my group enjoyed their food though. The cheese curds are excellent. I'm pretty bummed- I tore the knee on my jeans doing the antics to get in, so watch for the little metal grate on the floor. Go see Kevin the magician if you're there- he definitely made the visit worth it!
Kelly Kolton
A truly unique experience! I knew almost nothing going into the place, and would recommend you to be surprised and just enjoy the adventure! Definitely share one of the HUGE cocktails with souvenir glasses. Our table really enjoyed that, as well as the atmosphere.
Heather Holton
We hadn't been since it sold a couple years ago and were a bit nervous about taking the kids (lunch, on a Sunday) since we'd only been there at night with friends previously. It was fantastic. Absolutely perfect for the kids (ages 5-11). It wasn't super busy so the kids were able to explore without bothering any other diners. They had a kids' menu and a "recon mission" scavenger hunt for them as well. Food was good, a little pricey taken at face value, but considering we managed to spend a couple hours there, it was a great deal to both feed and entertain a family of six. Special shout out to Serena Stone at the Magic Bar. Besides entertaining the kids with magic tricks while probably having other things to do, she was beyond patient with them and so gracious. A great day and a great memory for us all!
Cheryle Janasiak
Shared this place with a friend from Detroit who had never heard of it. The guy at the door was a blast! I like the treasure hunt that takes you all around the place, so you don't miss any of the hundreds of things to see. I worked there 30 years ago, so I knew what not to miss. Great blast from the past! The service and the food was GREAT!
Jennifer Bo
This place was AWESOME!
You'll miss it if your not looking closely, which would be a shame because it was so much fun! First of all there is a secret way to enter into the restaurant after you get in the main door, and the staff is on board with the spy theme. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The food was great too. They have a spy game for you to play if you want, and we even had a little room off in the corner to ourselves. It was so much fun and worth the trip!
Stefanie Martyka
The food could be a bit better. I bit into my chicken and it was raw and ice cold in the middle. It was taken back to the kitchen, and I'm assuming just tossed back into a pan since it was so crunchy and overcooked when it came back. However, the theme of the restaurant is really neat and the bar is a lot of fun!
John Hayes
My son insisted we go for his bday, and I had a blast. We got the full tour through the revolving door into the next establishment, and the rest. The magician mesmerized my kids for a good half an hour. The food was fine... who cares about the food anyway. This place is fun.
Peter Schrenk
Somewhat fun for our family with children from 3-10 years old. The food was pretty mediocre. I would call it overpriced, but I know it needs to be more expensive in order to subsidize all the themed items and activities in the restaurant. 2 adults and 4 children cost about $110 with tax and tip.
The service was good, but not great. The only difference in service from a regular restaurant was the server was called "Agent" and she addressed us as "Spy".
Gordon&Mary Darmon
Definitely different, great food, what's the password to get in, you must visit at least one time.
Derrick Johnson
Very different kind of dining experience. Great experience. Excellent food. Will come back.
Xmangaming 3000
We had so much fun here! The whole family! Food was a little better than average and it is pricey for the quality but the atmosphere and entertainment Is well worth it. The bartender at the magic bar was a huge hit with my 9 and 6 year old. I loved how everyone stayed in character and really made you feel like part of it. The shananigans that we had to partake in just to get in really broke the ice and was fun for everyone! I would definitely reccomend if your looking for a little more than just dinner.
IntoTheStorm815
Ate here last week when we came into town for a show at the Riverside Theater. Pretty cool concept for the restaurant with spy-theme stuff inside. Food was pretty good, but it did take a little bit longer than usual to get our dinner. Our waiter, Dark Phoenix, definitely made it a fun time there. Perfect place if you're looking for something different than the typical "trendy" downtown restaurants.
Flip It Cellular
Trippy spot. Totally cool experience.Enjoyed Moab burger. Dimmly lit. Could be romantic.
Charlie Gallagher
This place has really turned it up to max effort in recent years. When I first moved to Milwaukee years ago it was a bit aging and the food was lousy. They have done everything over with a bit of charm and a solid food selection. My only complaint is that the menu's stylized layout was kind of hard to read.
Peter Buccowich
Really cool concept, but I'd love to see more commitment to the whole spy theme with diners participating in more puzzles or something. The current hunt isn't all that interesting or challenging. People go there for the experience, not the food.either way, not a dinner I'll soon forget!
Jeffrey Seelig
My friend and I visited the restaurant and while I didn't try the food, the drinks were watered down and too expensive for the costs. Now I ordered the specialty drinks which I understand are supposed to be a bit more expensive, but they weren't that good for the price we paid.
The environment while fun, hasn't really changed since the new owners took over, so there's nothing special about it except for the spy related theme. I'd love to see some guests who are either in the spy movies or are playing characters roving around. I'd love to see a Blofeld/Bond show in the bar rather than the odd magician.
Derek Schneider
My mom says its been around since the 70s, and I love the theme. The rewards program or email list. Just so many clever puns that stick to the theme. The entrance gag is great. If you wanna have good food with a little fun in your life this is an easy way to get it. I also highly recommend popping up to the newsroom pub to check out their amazing historic autograph collection.
Lauren F
I love this restaurant. It really has a fantastic atmosphere and that's why you should go. I would go when I went to college in Milwaukee and hadn't been back since they changed hands to the Marcus Corporation. I still love the restaurant but I remember the food being better before they changed to the Marcus group. My husband and I both had the Mission Impossible burgers and didn't really care for them. They were so greasy that the grease ran down our hands and left puddles in the basket. Fries and onion rings just okay (like McDonald's quality fries). Overall food was similar to what we could have purchased at a Culvers, definitely not worth the $15 a piece they cost. I was expecting more of Texas Roadhouse quality burgers, fries. Kids meals are pricey $6-8. Food is pricey in general but we were willing to pay that for the experience. We do plan on going again but would instead pick a sandwich or salad which isn't laden with grease, or maybe just go for dessert.
Jeremy Laughead
This was quite an experience! It was enjoyable as a meal, as much something fun to do. The facade of the restaurant is unassuming, and upon entry a password is requested for entry. If you do not have the password, have no fear! The person at the door will ask you to prove your spy skills to gain access. Inside is littered with spy themed memorabilia and facts. While you wait, a reconnaissance mission will help you pass the time. There is so much to see. Even the menu has hidden tidbits.
Matt Decker
Great experience with my boys. Service and food was awesome!
Chelle Antoinette
Beat restaurant experience I’ve ever had. Didn’t know the password so I had to do tasks with agent twerk 😊 to get in. Food was great but the drinks were kind of on the expensive side. Loved it.
Joseph Otto
This was the best time that I ever had in Milwaukee, and I grew up there.! Seriously, on a tip we went to the Safe house after it was told we needed a password to get in and once in 5 or 6 floors of so much. Here you are a detective and an assignment list is given at your table. Then you follow clues threw the twisting halls and fun house mirrors and false doors. The food is great and generous and the staff is happy your there. Go. Just Go..
George Breiwa
Very cool place with a fun vibe and good food. The spy martini is fun to see.
SoranTheSky Sky
Was allot of fun. The food was great so was the service/servers. They put on a fun act.More expensive then other restaurant's but not to bad. Not kid appropriate. Characters all over the wall with big breast and show quite a bit but aren't naked. I'd tell you more details but a spy would never leak details. Go on and do the mission your self.
Marypatricia Barrett
This is one of the coolest placest in Milwaukee. It is a must see. So much for the kids and adults to do while waiting for your good.
K B
I am visiting from another state and was told to check out "The Safehouse" before I came out here. I made sure to swing by this weekend. The food was delicious, quite a few unique options to choose from. The staff were helpful as well as a joy to talk with. The atmosphere was cheeky and cheerful. I loved exploring all the exhibits and surprises. I could have stared at the decorations for hours and not have gotten bored. I plan to come back some day, this was well worth the trip.
trisha fleser
If you dont know the password to get in you have to do some sort of task to earn access. We had to act like chickens!Waited an hour and 20 minutes for a table. We were able to sit in bar area and have drinks and appetizers while we waited. Very cool place with lots of things to look at and do while waiting to be seated. Food was good. We were too full to have dessert which was a shame because they were enormous and looked delicious.

Under new management, but even better than before. Food improved without significant changes to the kitschy atmosphere. Reliably great time and definitely worth a visit at least once if you are in mke. Perfect for out of tow guests after a stroll on the river walk.

This place is so much fun! The staff is fantastic and the food is incredibly good. I reccomend staying for a bit and checking out all the spy deco. You wont be disappointed

Visiting the area from out of state. Googled things to do while in town. Defiantly the best experience of the whole trip. Love the secret ebtrance. Preforming for the gate keeper. Walking through secret passage ways. Solving the mystery. The wait staff were great. The food was excellent! I am telling everyone about this place! Oh and the secret exit top off the entire experience. Excellent time. Worth the drive!!!

I had a really nice experience here. I didn't know the password so my friend and I had to lock arms and get a hula hoop over our heads without using our hands. It was fun watching the other folks get in as well. Staff was friendly and the cheese curds were alright. Overall its a fun experience for the first time.

The first time I came here it was so packed with people, we left without ordering because we didn't want to wait for a table. This time there was hardly anyone in the restaurant, but I still had to wait way too long for my food and the check. The waiter complained to us about having to take care of his other tables (about 4 in total that I could see) when we said we wanted the check after he asked us.
Overall the food was pretty good, the decor was interesting, but the service was subpar and I won't be bringing any of my friends visiting from out of town here again.

Heard about this place when I was back in Australia, was worried it would be gimmicky or underwhelming.
I was very pleasantly surprised, they go all in with the atmosphere. Food was excellent, beer was plentiful, reasonably priced and even got tastings.
Id say treat yourself, but if I lived in town, I could easily see this as a regular visit.

Good for a fun, strange, out-of-your-comfort-zone experience. The management staff doesn't seem to respect their employees, and they keep it around sauna temperatures, so you are constantly physically uncomfortable. It is a really great place to get to explore and see for yourself at some point. Pricey, and really good if you want to freak out an unaware blind date. :P

This was a lot of fun for us and we didn’t even get to go through the whole place since we had our toddler with us, but we all enjoyed it. It was fun watching those folks who struggled with the password to enter. The spy theme is pretty cool and overall, the food was pretty good also. Definitely try this one out if you like something quirky and different. This is a great place to take people that are visiting Milwaukee. The spy motif is great and we loved the magician! Don’t forget to leave via the secret escape route.

Wonderful experience. Went there for my son's birthday. We took my parents who were in from out of town along with the rest of the family (which consists of six foster kids and two biological kids). Every single one had a blast and didn't want to leave.
From the moment you get there, it's fun. If you don't know the password, they make you do something goofy which the people "on the inside" get to watch on screens throughout the place. Once in and seated, you're invited to explore the spy themed restaurant. There are secret tunnels, phone booths which require the right code to open walls, along with all sorts of memorabilia to keep you occupied for hours.
Additionally, the bartender there also will do magic tricks for you. The kids were enthralled by the magic and have been practicing card tricks non-stop since getting back.
The food, while I had heard in the past, was mediocre at best, was not so the night we were there. It's a very basic menu and they just revamped everything in March of this year. I think that also included the menu and possibly the kitchen staff (not sure on that part, though).
It's definitely a place we'll be taking out-of-towners on a regular basis, though. I don't want to give too much away because, well, it's sort of "top-secret."

Great experience! Agent Stitch remained in character the whole time--you could tell that either she enjoyed her job or that she is simply a hard worker--don't want to make any assumptions. The food was better than we expected for a theme restaurant. We almost didn't take the advice of Agent Stitch after we stumbled upon a standard exit, but we decided to turn around and find the secret exit. Glad we did!

Amazing place to live eat and my kids had a blast.

The whole family enjoyed the Safehouse experience before taking in a show in the vicinity! We not only completed our mission, made sure that we weren't followed and had a great lunch but thoroughly enjoyed exploring our surroundings. Looking forward to our next mission!

Went late afternoon on a Saturday. It was pretty crowded but we didn't have to wait that long to get in. The food was decent, and the atmosphere was fun. Just kind of tricky to get around because it was so crowded and then add in the servers running around with plates of food made it difficult to go exploring.
