Great food and drink selection in a cool atmosphere with nice view! Visited here with my parents after a day in the area visiting from Chicago. We’ve been here before but this was our first time since 2019. Glad to see the pandemic has not changed their quality here. Friendly staff took care of us. They have a nice local draft beer selection from the bar. The food menu leans BBQ focused, which is unique and cool to see. It doesn’t disappoint; we each had a BBQ with at least one meat and several included sides. Pretty good quality brisket and pork. Definitely a hearty meal so make room! The restaurant is situated behind the Harley Davidson museum and gift shop and has a nice view out onto the river and surrounding districts. In summer they have a large patio to relax on. If you’re looking for a good, hearty meal with some drinks that you can enjoy in a very cool, rustic-appointed space, this is a great option!

Good food conveniently located next to the Harley-Davidson museum. Service got off to a slow start as we sat unnoticed for a while and then Caleb stepped up and took great care of us. Bloody Mary was good and draft beer was great. Try the burger, chili and wings. You will have more food that you need! Then go walk it off on the museum tour! VictorB

Came here the second time. Food and service is still great! It’s for sure a better idea to go here in the summer than rather than spring time. There’s more people to see, and better atmosphere.

While visiting the museum, feel free to go over to the restaurant. It’s roomy, clean, and the food is good. I’m not a meat eater, so I had the grilled cheese and tomato soup. Easily one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I’ve ever had.

Pretty cool atmosphere at the H-D museum. I had the Fatboy burger, fries and the Mac & Cheese. The burger was really good I could of done with a little less BBQ sauce on it. The fries were good and crispy. The Mac and cheese is were they fell short and why I gave 4 stars. The mace and cheese was bland, not cheesy and just not good at all. I had 2 bites and left the rest.

Had a not so great experience back in 2019, but since I heard the Motor had a new GM, we thought we would give it another try. We started with the deep fried cheese curds which were very fresh, and the burger was made perfectly, juicy, fresh bun, and my wife had the brisket stuffed brisket baked potato which was perfect. All in all, a very nice and delicious dinner. Will be back!!!!

The Motor Bar provided a wonderful Saint Patrick's Day celebration on March 17th, 2022 in beautiful downtown Milwaukee on the banks of the Milwaukee River and located at the Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Museum.My husband Scott and I celebrated my 65th birthday there.Our lovely waitress Kim was spectacular & very sweet and very attentive to us. We ordered the most delicious Reuben sandwich and it came with french fries and of course we had their delicious special of $5 pints of ice cold green beer! Grand Irish tunes,blues and classic music was played and performed by Lil Rev and Will Branch & and it was such a wonderful Irish atmosphere and celebration for my St Patrick's Day birthday! Our grand waitress Kim bought a yummy birthday surprise of a delicious vanilla sundae with sprinkles and chocolate topping for us to share! Thank you Kim and Motor Bar for totally spoiling me and my sweet Irish leprechaun laddie Scott! We took our truck that evening to the Motor Bar but we shall be back hopefully soon on our Harley-Davidson motorcycle soon as soon as the weather breaks! See you again soon!

Stopped in last night for dinner. The hours online were different and not updated. That was the only downfall. We both had the Chili Mac and it was amazing! The two ladies that waited on us at the bar didn’t rush us even though they were closing earlier than posted. I would definitely return for that reason and the Chili Mac again. I even brought some home and had it for lunch. It was great! Nice bar and grill

We had to wait for a table, but it was relatively quick considering how crowded it was. We only wanted to have a drink, get a snack and relax after touring the museum. We were able to do that! The appetizers were excellent and the drinks hit the spot. It was a very pleasant experience. The full meals that other patrons were getting looked awesome! Will have to go back and give them a try!

They have some very Good food. Update: December 02, 2022 I got to meet the New chef Today who is from Hawaii. He is really nice. I tried two of his New specials for December 2022. One of the specials was called a "Big Klaus Kahuna Burger" which had pineapple and mixed greens on it. The other special was called a "Santaloha Shrimp Burger" with had Fresh Spinach leaves on it. Both burgers were really Good. My compliments to the chef. When I read the descriptions of both burgers on the menus under the specials, I could not decide which one I wanted because both of them sounded good. I ordered both of them, and I ate a half of one Burger and a half of the other Burger. Both burgers were awesome. From what I read on the menu, I think that it said this is a Hawaiian recipe. They also have another special on the menu called deep fried spam. I have not tried that yet. However giving the fact that I Love Spam, I am sure that it tastes delicious too. I think that the menu mentioned that this is another Hawaiian recipe. It reminds me of the movie "51st Dates" with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore where the Hawaiian cook in the movie served fried spam all the Time. I also liked how they added some decorations to the restaurant to give it that Hawaiian look. I like the fact too that they have a upside down Christmas tree in The Motor Bar and Grill which is a Polish tradition in Poland where the Polish people put their Christmas Tree upside down. Thank you to the employees of The Motor Bar & Grill, especially the waitress Kimberly and the new chef whom I don't know his name yet. The food and the service was awesome

We've been a few times for the fish fry. The fish is really good, comes out fresh. I like the seasoning. Reasonably priced for all you can eat. It's always cold inside to me, temperature- wise. Decent service. Clean bathrooms. I never order the alcohol. This is a slept on gem for a Friday fish fry.

This restaurant is inside the Harley Davidson museum, but you do not need museum entry to visit the restaurant. We went on an off time, seating was immediately available. The hostess seemed morose, she did not smile or really look at us at all. We waited over ten minutes for someone to bring menus and get our drink order. However, after that, service was good. Nice selection of beers, lemonades are superior. Brisket nacho appetizer is Bomb! Entrees including bbq salad, tomato soup, monster burger and motor burger were excellent, fries are really good. Turkey burger is scary, do not recommend. The flavors would have been delicious, but the patty was a mystery meat nightmare, rubbery and chewy with no hint of real ground meat present. However, they quickly removed it from my presence and the bill. They replaced with the best carrot cake ever, which they did not comp, but, I guess that's fine. Overall, I would visit again.

Been here a few times. It is always to meet up with family or friends visiting. The food and service are good, but not.... well, what you'd expect for a restaurant tied to an iconic Milwaukee figure like Harley Davidson. You'd think there would be dishes tied to Harley with fun names, and so on. Additionally, for being downtown Milwaukee and a tourist destination, you'd think there'd be a larger beer selection. The taps are only about a dozen, and 1/2 of those are the basic domestics. So the craft beers are far and few between compared to most Milwaukee restaurants. This place needs to be more creative with their food and more embracing with their craft beer selection.

He asked for just one more ,took awhile, then she brought two and like scolded us for asking for a to go container (because of all you can eat) after he ate the one he asked for. Only interacted with 2 staff members but both were wonderful! These ladies were enthusiastic about their work. The hostess greeted us animatedly giving us information about the restaurant upon learning it was our first visit. She must have communicated this to our server as she mentioned knowing it was our first visit. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and answered our questions. Meeting our needs promptly, by stopping to check our food, serving more beverages, etc. Our food was good, we had stuffed potatoes, sandwiches, and mac & cheese and a variety of drinks. A very pleasant meal. Note: Not sure how busy the restaurant gets, but we did make a reservation and saw several large parties. There is free parking here.

I didn’t realize that this place existed and even more disappointing is how good it was. I’ve been missing out. The clam chowder was a little thinner than others but the flavor was delicious. Then, the bbq chicken salad was just as delicious. It was large enough that we split it between two people for their meal. I had the all you can eat (AYCE) Friday fish fry and was blown away. Flaky fish fried perfectly. Not greasy just deliciously crunchy and flaky. We will definitely be back here again.

Great restaurant associated with the museum. Large windows right on the river/canal. Large bar. High ceilings and open space. The cheese curds to start are excellent for sharing and super tasty! I had the grilled cheese and tomato bisque. It was super tasty and perfect comfort food! Friendly servers that are attentive and helpful!

Was our first visit. Stopped in after exploring the museum. The service was perfect. The music was pretty good and not overbearingly loud. The food was delicious. All 6 of us enjoyed our meals. BBQ, Brisket Mac n cheese, Chicken sandwich and burgers. Even the fries were good. If I had any suggestions I would say the cornbread could be much better (we all agreed on that) and I disliked that a good portion of the tables did not have a view of where the live music was set up. I will recommend & return.

Very open and relax atmosphere. Not very busy, a lot of open seating around 3 pm. Sat right away. Came around shift change, so took a bit to be greeted by waitress for the drink, but on the plus side, I was ready to order. Got the Veggie Sandwich with a side salad. Food came quickly, salad a bit on the small side, but the salad was vibrant and healthy looking leaves and veggies. Portabella mushroom sandwich is a hard dish to get as the balsamic is up to the persons person preference. I found it to be a little bit much, but overall did not take away from the rest of the flavors in the sandwich. Also, got the Georgia Peach Cobbler, this felt like it took forever to come, but the wait was oh so worth it. The warm peach and sauce, cold vanilla ice cream and crushy crumble was a fantastic blend. Big enough for 1 who doesn't want to share and big enough for 2 if you are both looking for something sweet to end the the meal with but not looking for a full plate of a dessert. Place was a bit on the pricy side; water, sandwich, salad and dessert for 1 came to $20.

First time to the museum spent at least 3 hours there it's an all day trip. A lot of history, including serial number 1 yes that's right the 1st Harley Davidson built. Then the wife and I went to the restaurant great place great food great atmosphere. The wife ordered the brisket salad thinking it was going to be normal size hahaha the plate was huge same with my chicken, brisket, pulled pork sandwich. It's a bit pricey but well worth it. We are definitely going back

We went on a Friday late afternoon during the air show practice. The food, atmosphere and our waitress was great however upon entering and leaving the hostess quite frankly put never welcomed us not even with a slight smile or acknowledge us when we left. We felt terrible after helping pay their wages. Particularly, when I told them(hostess) have a nice day and no comment nor eye contact back. Simply Rude! Otherwise 5 stars.

Tonight we came in for my birthday dinner, and for a Friday fish fry. After having abysmal service, and lackluster food at other locations, we decided to give this place a shot. Right away it started off on a good note, finding EASY parking, and little to no wait at 7pm(on a Friday in wisconsin). Our server Kat was a ray of sunshine, full of personality and smiles. The fish and fries were amazingly hot, and had the perfect balance of having moisture and not being greasy. This combination ensures I will be returning to try other dishes. THANK YOU KAT!!!!

Very good, other than being rushed because it was going to close for a special event, which is understandable. The appetizers were delicious along with the beer. However just didn't get that relaxing feeling knowing we had to wolf down the appetizers and nearly chug the beer.

This is the bar-restro opposite to Harley -Davidson Museum. Couldn't find much Vegetarian options. Just had a Tomato soup which were served with crackers. But after soup from Panera your expectations are different. And even had a beer glass. But this was one crowded place.

Nice place and great service. Went for the fish fry and the fries were the best part. Honestly the fish kind of sucked. The fish itself was sloppy and loose, it was falling apart and yucky. The breading was aggressively spiced to the point of being too much but it was HARD. There is crunchy and then there is hard. This was one step past that! I would try the place again but not for the fish.

My husband and I finally got here after years of talking about going. A little underwhelmed. We were really excited about getting the humongous sundae, but they no longer have it. Totally disappointed!! I got the club sandwich. It was good except the bread was a little too dry and kept crumbling apart. The fries were delicious and the lemonade was refreshing!

We did not have to wait to be seated. Sat near the window close to the river. We ordered brisket nachos, smoked brisket sandwich, and burger. Great service and the food tasted wonderful. Got a beefy Mary and would recommend it. Bulleit spritzer tasted smooth and recommend that also. If you go to the museum and the restaurant, go to the museum first to get a discount at the shop and restaurant.

Visited from out of town on Tuesday. First, the person who greeted us was SO WARM and accommodating (later our server referred to her as her boss so perhaps she is a manager or owner). We specifically went there since we read that they were dog-friendly and boy are they! Service was great. And the food was soooo goood. Our favorite item was the brisket stuffed baked potato. Drinks were also fantastic. You get to eat with a view since it’s beside the water. We also saw that they have yard games like corn hole, giant connect four, along with fire pits. We will definitely be back.

Edit: I just heard that Motor reopened for the 2021 summer season. I bought an annual membership to the museum. This is very good news to hear about the opening and the membership gets you 10% off on food! I love their BBQ. It always pleases my cravings. They also have a kid menu, so we took advantage of that.

Beautiful summer day so the outside terrace was lovely--and in the shade. Service was cheerful and competent. Sandwiches came on toasted good-quality bread with pickle spears on the side. I really enjoyed the food and ambiance at Motor! We visited on a Saturday night and there was a band which was really fun and everyone at the bar was enjoying. There were a good amount of people there and we were still able to get a table. The menu has a lot of great options from burgers to mac and cheese. I found it to have really unique items and also tried and true items that picky eaters could settle on. I enjoyed the brisket mac and cheese! Our server was friendly and every interaction with staff was pleasant. I would love to come back in the summer and sit outside.

I brought a friend here and he was blown away by how fun it was as well as the quality of the food. Perfect complement to the Harley Museum experience; great view of the river and the Museum across the way (you can also keep an eye on the bike from there). Service has improved and good food is now great! We love going to this restaurant! We considered a Hidden Gem. There Friday night fish fry is amazing and it's all you can eat. The only drawback to this restaurant is there Saturday special which is their barbecue and blues. The special food is not that good unfortunately.

Overall we had a descent experience. Food was delicious and had a nice atmosphere. Loved the decor. Food took a little while to arrive but it was worth the wait. Biggest issue we had was with service. Our waitress was not attentive and we had to wave her down for refills. When she finally came over to pick up our glasses for our refill she didn't pay attention which individual had which glass so we ended up with the wrong glass. The restaurant wasn't busy while dining so we feel there is no reason we couldn't receive a little more attention.

My family and I traveled from Alabama to Milwaukee. Our son attends college there. During our stay, we celebrated my husband's 50th birthday at Motor Bar and Restaurant. I'm not into Harley's or riding anything that has less than 4 wheels but this Harley restaurant was impressive. They had live music that was actually good, food selection was good as well, and drinks weren't weak like most places are. Was very pleased with the overall experience, I do want to say that if you ask for burgers, ask them to be cooked longer than normal. I asked for medium and it was more medium rare to rare. Don't know if it was the cook for that night, still enjoyed it though! Would gladly go back again.

Recently stopped in for lunch with a few friends. Service was great and the food was really good as well. I had a Cesar salad with grilled chicken. Nothing too fancy, but the flavor was good. My friends has some tacos (a special) and a buffalo chicken sandwich. Both were good. This is not the least expensive lunch spot, but the food and service are commensurate with the price. As a destination restaurant for the HD experience it is appropriately priced. I have had lunch here a few times before this and it has been consistently good. I had dinner here quite a few years ago ago and it certainly has improved greatly in that time.

Stopped by to grab a late lunch after visiting the museum, both food and service was surprisingly good. Not a typical sport bar that serve greasy and salty food. The tomato basil soup was fresh and tasty, the motor burger cooked just right and not greasy. The Buffalo chicken Mac was great and the portion was big too. Our server was very friendly as well.

This was my first time to the Motor Bar and Restaurant. I ordered the meatball burger and did not really like it. In all fairness, the waitress did tell me that it either had to be cooked medium well or well done. It was way overdone. We also had the cinnamon tequila wings for an appetizer and they were really good. I'm looking forward to trying a burger on my next visit.

You walk in just like the area and you are slapped in the face with HD. The sights are something in its self but the experience is something that is a must. Went there during the Wild Ones weekend with our friends and had lunch. Had burger and fries and about 3 waters... it was hot that day. The burger was not what I would expect (as you figure the hype would be just something over priced and blah, but this was not the case at all!!!), was prob one of the best ones I had for sometime, eating out. The side was just as good and a complement. The price was not close to over the top but our waiter was... Very attentive and not pushy at all, letting us chat and take the sights in. What a wonderful experience and lunch, is highly recommended and will be a stop on our next visit!! Thank you so very much!

Had a great time on Saturday night at Motor. They had barbecue and blues - a huge platter of barbecue and sides with a live band. The band played a variety of songs and was really fun. They even jammed with a patron who brought his harmonica. The barbecue tasted great and included brisket, pulled pork, chicken, and sausage. Just a really good time in a killer venue. I can't wait to come back in summer. The place is all windows and they can open garage doors on either end to get a really open feel. And it's connected to the Harley Davidson Museum. I'll definitely have to make a day of it.

Sanford is a small spot located right in the middle of a neighborhood and may be the best place to eat in the city/state/region. The kitchen does an outstanding job with an ever changing menu. Service level is high yet not overbearing. Prices are a bit higher than most but the quality is significantly higher than most so on a relative basis it's a bargain! Great spot for special occasions.

Great Food for a great price. I stop in once in a while with my fellow H.O.G. members after we visit The Harley Davidson Museum. I also stop in there during The Milwaukee Harley Davidson Motorcycle Rally every Year. Some Times I stop in there by myself. The staff is friendly. I leave a good tip for them. Their House Wings are awesome. I would say that that they are the 3rd best that I have had. I only had one bad experience there in all the Times that I have been going there... & that was because my Stuffed Bacon Burcame out raw where it was very Pink in the middle. I mean raw Pink. I still left a good tip though. Other then that, I have had awesome Times there. I can't wait to go there again.

About the only good thing i can say is they host good music. Alcohol and beer selection is going down. They don't even have alcohol they list in their menu. Very few tables where you can see the band. I was coming from the bathroom and THREE wait staff pushed me out of the way as they were going into the bathroom. If it weren't for Perry Weber playing I wouldn't waste my time or money.

4th trip to the museum, 2nd time at the restaurant. 1st time I had the chicken tacos. They were very good. Had bbq plate this time. Brisket and pulled pork. Pork was totally void of flavor but the beef is good. No onion with it but a corn bread muffin. Leave it to Yankees to forget the onion but give you really sweet corn bread and no sweet tea. BTW: I don't really care for corn bread. Nice place. Service is pretty good. Little pricy but not horrible. Overall a good experience . Now I'll go next door and spend more money at the gift shop

We ate at the can bar as the motor restaurant was rented out for a private event. The manager, I believe her name is Valerie, single handedly earned all 5 stars. She sat us very quickly, busing the table herself, despite being slammed with patrons and requests. The food was delicious. My boyfriend had the jambalaya, I the classic mac. The food arrived quickly and isn't technically served in the can room but Valerie and the kicthen offered the full menu. The portions were generous, I took half my mac home. I also indulged in the deep fried oreos, again generous portions and the best deep fried oreos I have had, including state fair. We will definitely be back for the five star service and fantastic food. It also has ample parking which for a downtown/eastside restaurant is a gift. Thank you for a great date night.
