Reviews of Morel

Started with some cocktails (the one pictured is mezcal and grapefruit) which were quite good. The smoked pork belly appetizer is really good. We also had the mushroom fricassee which honestly was just OK. I had the smoked & braised short rib with house made bacon which was delicious. Like I'm still thinking about it delicious. My wife had the smoked lamb ragout which she also loved. We finished with the caramel apple goat cheese cheesecake. Would definitely return, and recommend to anyone.

A chronological review; when you make a reservation you have the opportunity to specify if you’re celebrating a special occasion. That’s thoughtful from the get-go. The building entrance has a ramp and spacious bathroom stalls (noting accessibilities). The host greeted us with his heart & made us feel very welcome. There’s bar seating, high top seating or regular tables. I loved this place so much, I’d even eat here even by myself at the bar. The kitchen is open, which displays such pride in their work. The drink selection was wide and has something for everyone. The prices are quite reasonable for the experience. I found roughly their prices on google menu before booking. The atmosphere was warm and cozy offering the fine dining experience with brevity of a relaxed environment. Our waiter was excellent as well! Now let’s talk food; the lamb starter made it onto both my and my husbands top food experiences ever. You should also know my husband doesn’t like lamb. It was that good. The details in balancing flavors in the dishes we had were nothing short of expertly crafted. The onion rings were lightly battered and were cooked to that exact ‘sweet’ spot of onions to create a salty/sweet balance. Overall every aspect of this restaurant was a home-run.

Delicious! Everything was so scrumptious and each dish felt special. Who knew venison would be so tender or that shaved ham in a biscuit could be so perfect. The vibe is just pure casual classiness. We sat on the outdoor patio, which felt like a secret garden but with plenty of space for tables to be spread out. Our server, Jackie, was so attentive and friendly. She didn't rush us (we sat for 2 hours eating, drinking , and catching up with an old friend) and was at the ready when our drinks got low. Speaking of drinks, definitely order a "covered bridges" ... Or two.

We are from out of state and were visiting Milwaukee, attempting to celebrate a birthday right after the passing of a Milwaukee friend and a parent, a tall order. We found Morel on line and felt farm to table would provide a unique experience. It definitely exceeded expectations! We ate outside in the courtyard. It’s morning glory covered walls provided a peaceful and and European like atmosphere. Each course of the meal exceeded the one before. I think it was beyond a doubt, the best meals we have ever had. Our waiter, Derrick, was so attentive and fun! When told it was a birthday he provided a little celebratory champagne and a candle in the dessert. The end result was a beautiful, peaceful experience and the first total escape from our realities. To the owners and staff, don’t ever think you don’t make a difference, because you do and it is priceless. To all potential customers, this is a don’t miss experience. With much gratitude-Jean and Jim

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Morel, a restaurant that focuses on farm-to-table dishes. The food was absolutely amazing - everything was fresh and sourced from local farms and producers. The menu featured a wide range of dishes, including some vegetarian options, and the flavors were absolutely incredible. The only downside was that the prices were a bit on the high side, but in my opinion, the quality of the food made it well worth it. I would definitely go back to Morel in the future. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves delicious, locally-sourced food. It's a true gem!

Blown away by our experience here! My partner and I came for our anniversary wanting to try something new. We decided it was the best meal we've ever had in Milwaukee since Wolf Peach. Every dish was so special. I'm still thinking about the house smoked ham biscuit with honey butter and the smoked pork belly. Drinks were also great and every staff member was so kind. Will be coming back!

Food is delicious, wait time isn’t the greatest.
Customer Service was great, everyone is friendly and pays attention to your questions and requests.
We had a few drinks and they were delicious.
The appetizer and meals were great. However, we did have to wait for an hour to have our entree, and when we got it it our meals were a little on the cold side. A little disappointing but I don’t attribute it to anyone’s skill. I think it’s more of a logistic issue, the kitchen only has the one stove so that limits the amount of orders the cooks can work on at a given time.
All in all, my rating is solely based on the wait time. The food and drinks were still very delicious, would love to come in again for a second impression.

Visited Morel for a date night after reading a few reviews and liking the sound of it. One of the best meals of my life. Also the only time I ever remember my wife clearing her plate. She had the duck, I had the lamb ragout. Everything was amazing including the cocktails. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere, just personal opinion, was near perfect.
Adam
Hands down the best place we have eaten in MKE. Dishes were perfect sizes, staff on all parts from kitchen to the bar and the waiters were friendly. Great atmosphere and drinks. Food was flavorful and a great selection of local dishes. We were blown away with the dishes, and we consider ourselves foodies. Already looking to book the next reservation!
Sarah Risch
I love this place. I’ve been twice now, over a year apart, and both times it exceeded my expectations. The summer squash salad with pine nuts is incredible. The salads are all interesting, the venison was so tender, and the cocktails are refreshing. Would highly recommend.

This was our second time at Morel. My boyfriend brought me here last year for my birthday and I was blown away! This time around we made it a point to stop in Milwaukee on our way back to Chicago because we wanted to have dinner here again. The host and our server were extremely friendly, helpful with suggestions, and personable. The strawberry rhubarb goat cheese cheesecake will now forever be my favorite dessert of all time! ♥️ I can't wait to come back!

I don’t usually write reviews, but this was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Milwaukee. Cocktails were superb. Our server was really great at explaining everything about the farm to table process. We ordered the flatbread and a charcuterie board for the table, both amazing. I ordered the duck breast entree and it was TO DIE FOR! And celebrated a birthday with a chocolate terrine and she even added a candle for us. The food is more on the pricier side, but you’ll understand it’s worth it once you try it. Not to mention that we were “THOSE customers” that were 15 minutes late to our reservation and were still eating after the restaurant closed, yet we never felt rushed to leave. We sat outside on their cute little patio in the back. Amazing food, great service and atmosphere. Must try for sure.

We went for an early dinner, and were among the first to arrive, which meant we were seated immediately. The ambiance is great, and they have outdoor seating (which we tried to use but unfortunately it got a bit rainy). Artwork inside is a bit...eclectic...but you cannot possibly ask for a more welcoming and responsive staff.
We aren't drinkers, so we didn't partake of the custom cocktail menu, but instead dove straight into appetizers with the Smoke Pork Belly with Domingo Rojo Beans. This reminded us, in flavor, of Irish Rasher Bacon, which is one of our all-time favorite things in the world. Combine that with the savory black beans and the perfect preparation and we were blown away. Perhaps among our favorite appetizers of all time.
For mains, Andrea Dexter ordered a new dish, the Walleye with Morel Mushrooms and Asparagus. The Walleye was flaky and delicious, but the shining star of the dish was the Morel mushrooms (good thing too eh with the name?), just wish there were MORE of them.
I had the Duck Confit with Smoked Pheasant Wild Rice Sausage and Polenta. While I'd this before, there's a reason I ordered again. The duck is cook to fall off the bone, the sausage somehow overshadows the duck, and the polenta is creamy and sweet to cut the savory overload from the duck/sausage. I loved it.
No complaints here! Andrea Dexter and I keep a running list of our favorite restaurants in MKE, and Morel is tied with, honestly, far too many others for the #1 spot!

Wonderful restaurant for a date night! The food and service were equally impressive. We certainly appreciated the creativity in the gnudi dish. Thank you Morel for an incredible evening!
Sarah Streicher
Finally had the chance to visit Morel and it was absolutely fantastic! Our waiter so friendly and provided excellent service. We ordered the Smoked Pork Belly as an appetizer which was perfect for two people. For entrée, the Pheasant Breast was packed full of flavors and the Beef Short Rib was so rich and really filling. We had the chocolate terrine which is a must for chocolate lovers. The goat cheesecake was creamy and rich. This is easily one of the best restaurants in Milwaukee!
Jonathon Stich
Great night out at morel with a good friend! We tried three cocktails, and five different sharable plates, for just over $100 (for me, a great value). My favorite dish of the night was a cold squash ensemble with mint, and a hint of Chile de arbol (amazing flavor profile!). 'And just shake', was by far my favorite cocktail of the evening. A lot of talent in the morel kitchen!
Angela
Took over an hour for the mains to come out after the app and, they were just okay. I wouldn't recommend the dishes or order again. It was pricey and I left a little hungry. Also, pairing the lamb with a spicy sausage on the plate was a no go for me.
Tim Romano
I had another great dining experience tonight at Morel. Morel is my favorite restaurant in Milwaukee and it's not close. The environment is cozy, the food is exciting and delicious, and the staff is wonderful.
Bryan Aderhold
Excellent meal and atmosphere. The entrees were rich and very flavorful. Their old fashioned is great and highly recommend the peach cobbler for dessert.
Matthew Wofford
Finally a chance to try the elusive morel mushroom! We had a goat cheese ravioli dish, beef short rib, duck breast, and chocolate terrine. All were very tasty and dynamic. The wine selection was great and overall it was a great place to celebrate my birthday. (Photo: Goat Cheese Ravioli)
Matthew Ruffi
Amazing food and really lovely staff! Their appetizers are awesome....get a couple to share at your table to start (don't skip them and go straight to mains.....they are too damn good!).
Harris Connell
One of Milwaukee's Gem! Amazing food to service to ambience! Loved how awesome everything was.
We entered around 6 pm and got seated almost right away without a reservation (although I can see how this place can become super popular and reservations are recommended). Our server was awesome and took us to our seat. Our server showed up at our seat shortly and told us the specials. Everything sounded amazing.
We loved the morel mushroom special starter and then we got the leg of lamb and the delicious trout! Both were amazingly flavored. Loved how the lamb had stronger flavors and the trout hAd milder yet delicious sauces. Overall it was both really good and very wholesome.
I highly recommend this place to other wanting to explore restaurants in Milwaukee providing fresh farm to table experience!
Jon Wyatt
The food was perfectly executed and original in concept. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. We can't wait to go back.

This is a restaurant we have become very comfortable going to on multiple occasions and pleasantly surprised at the changing specials and rotating desserts and starters that go into this quaint little Milwaukee staple. The smells are what gets me everytime I walk through the door. It's the beefy, porky, smokiness that hits your olfactories and lets you know your in for a local treat. If the biscuit with smoked ham and honey is on the menu, ot is certainly worth your time. I would order and eat any specials from the chef, they are thoughtful, play off of each other ingredients that are locally sourced and you can tell their is "thinking" going on behind the dish. The Rainbow Tout we had was a whole fish perfectly cooked, tender, flaky pull of the skin with a fork yumminess. The flat iron steak was cooked just right, with a great bearnaise dipping sauce and topped with corn meal crusted fried onion rings with it's own aioli dip. Everything was great from start to finish and I was equally impressed with the attentive and often humorous staff checking in on us. It is a great date night stop!

The Rabbit Ragu is the the greatest thing on earth. literally all my wife and I order every time we go! Service is fantastic
Matthew P
I just went to Morel on Saturday and WOW was I impressed!!
Our waiter Derick was fantastic with his explanations, recommendations, and hospitality! (Checked on is a good amount and let us be when needed, very professional.)
The food was to die for. The Half and Half board was unbelievably tasty. The cheese paired with the jam, nuts, and bread made my mouth explode with flavor - I didn’t want it to end!
The entrees were just as special. I had the pork shoulder and my date had the Salmon. Both had great flavor and delicious sauces!
The desert was the peach cobbler and honey ice cream. The peaches were cooked perfectly.
What a fantastic atmosphere, tasting, and overall great experience! LOVE LOVE LOVE!
Ross
Great dining experience overall. Ralph was a great host and kept conversation while we waited approximately 40 minutes past our reservation time. The "full metal" cocktail was a bit sweet and the gin based had a little bit too much lemon. After asking for the lemon to be reduced a bit the drink came back the same as the first.
The table was sticky, there were a few things they had run out of but they Emily was able to make a simple accommodation easily enough.
The lamb ragout was amazing, highly recommended. The lamb shank was very good but the accompanying sausage was cold in the center. After asking the second lamb sausage also came cold in the center. We removed them center's and left them, unsure on how this was supposed to turn out.
Overall I liked the experience and would go back. For 50 dollars per plate and a reservation I had expected a bit more of a seamless experience, also when you are wondering whether or not something was done right it doesn't bode well for a meal that's that expensive.
Ms.Z
Cool little place. The food was delicious. We ordered a bunch of stuff that we shared.
Pam L
We dined at Morel for the first time in a long time (Covid19 was a major interuption) the food was wonderful. . Not your stereotypical burgers and steaks. .but we were able to pronounce all of the ingredients. Amazingly they still offered morels.
The service was friendly, prompt and helpful. And their patio is beautiful
Dylan Gray
Nice atmosphere. Service was fantastic! Food was very good! There were a couple of things that were amazing and a couple things that were a bit underwhelming. The pork belly and the duck didn't blow is away, but the hanger steak and the Smoked Lamb Papardelle were fantastic! Especially the Lamb! All of our desserts were solid too! I will definitely be back!
Boran Katunarić
The restaurant easily became one of our favorites in town. The atmosphere and service were overshadowed only by the quality of food. We had a three course meal and every single dish was amazing, from start to finish.
Tim Phillips
Probably the friendliest staff you will ever encounter EVER! And that is just an added bonus because the food is superb. Had the Pork Belly starter and the Braised Short Rib for main course. Both were the phenomenal. Add a couple of Brandy Old Fashioneds and life was certainly good.
Edward Castellano
As a traveller from Colorado, this place is amazing. The staff are some of the friendliest people I've met. I highly suggest sitting over the kitchen and talking with the chefs. The food was inventive (broccamole anybody?) and we'll balanced and they explained the mentality behind the plates and the flavors. Plus GoT conversation makes every meal better.
Maggie Attoe
Good food, great drink, great dessert. Would go back.
The cheese board was delicious but very lacking in any substantial amount of anything so that was disappointing. I mean literally the sides were pea size 🤦♀️ …
nat butler
Absolutely amazing. Everything we ordered off the daily changing menu was superb and worth every penny. All time favorite Milwaukee restaurant.
Maria Garcia
We being coming to this place for some time and never had a bad experience. You feel the hospitality as soon you walk into the restaurant so you know that you are like walking into someone's house and we love it. Their menu is a sharing portions and 90% of their products are local, so always get the Wisconsin taste. Good selection of wine and you can tell the experience of the bartenders because their cocktails are very well balanced.
Lina Nguyen
We came to Morel over 4 years ago for a birthday dinner and now we visit 2-4 times a year for our birthdays and other special occasions, or if we just really feel like treating ourselves. And Morel is truly a treat. We always have amazing service and the food speaks volumes for itself. The lamb carpaccio is to die for, I could eat one myself (I almost don’t want to share). If it’s on the menu, def get the liver mousse and the fettuccine with black truffles. We tend to be loyalists and my go-to entree is the lamb/rabbit ragout and my partners’ are the pork shoulder and the hangar steak (depending on the season). I’ve also never had a cocktail that I didn’t like, and one can get you feeling happy and fuzzy. I honestly couldn’t tell you enough how much I love Morel, def give it a try if you haven’t been!
Sam Gollon
Really good Wisconsin-sourced food, a bit on the pricey side so nice for a special occasion. Highly recommend the pork shoulder.
Jessica Jacobs
This place is amazing! The decor is super cool and the menu is extremely unique. Our server was very friendly and we wound up getting a lot of the things she recommended. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on their menu. And if they have the bone marrow donut with duck liver mousse ice cream for dessert, you HAVE TO GET IT. This is THE most decadent dessert I have had in my life!!
Emily Anderson
I had wanted to try this place for a long time. Finally made it a few months ago. It exceeded its reputation. Everything that we had was delicious. The atmosphere is nice and warm– it’s great how they’ve transformed that space. Love the open concept and the small details they've put into the decor.
The starter was great… I wanted more of it. The table got the duck confit with pheasant sausage, lamb ragout and the trout. For dessert we sampled the Aronia Berry Ricotta Tart and the Tabal Dark Chocolate Cake.
Everyone left feeling satisfied not stuffed. I highly recommend Morel to any local or visitor.
I've been several times since my first post. The consistency is there. The service is there.... get there.

Best fine dining in Milwaukee
Totally professional, with good people from top to bottom, and an excellent wine list.
Allie Hancock
Favorite place in Milwaukee! Staff is so friendly/knowledgeable and always has amazing food.
Steve Hansen
Amazing food but be ready to get out of your comfort zone, not the norm. Great selection of bourbons and other liquor with the help from amazing staff. Thank you.
Anil Ogretmenler
That’s was amazing experience for me. Have you guys ever try “Hanger Steak” at this restaurant? It was like the first time I heard the Beatles… thank you
Tim Bailen
We stopped in for dessert and coffee at 7p on a Friday and were seated quickly. The patio in the back is gorgeous and our server was very amiable. The spacious patio has eight four-tops.
There was a bit of aroma wafting over from the next door cigar bar.
Relaxed, upscale vibe.
Jasmine Brewer
Excellent! Great service, food, drinks and atmosphere. We went during morel season (early June) and had two morel dishes. Can't wait to go back.
Josie Simonson
A must try! We came here for the first time last night and were very impressed. The atmosphere is fun, our server was very friendly, and the food was delicious. They are farm to table style too, which is a great bonus. You won't be disappointed here.
Sam Weisner
Almost flawless. We paid $55 for a meager salmon filet on special, served atop neon green reheated risotto. The pricing, I believe, was largely due to supposed "fresh shaved truffle" atop the fish. It was not fresh. It tasted like nothing and looked artificial. Upset about this and very softly informed our server but nothing was done about it. Pretty strange for a place with so many mushroom dishes (not to mention its namesake...)
Anna Jansson
My husband and I had an absolutely wonderful dinner at Morel. We were both blown away at the service, the food, and the drinks. In celebration of our anniversary we were even given two glasses of champagne. Such an unexpected and lovely addition to the whole experience. Also need to say that we loved the music playlist. Hands down favorite date night in a long time.
Vince.
Higher end classy restaurant with wine list and bottles of wine to impress. Larger portions, so you get what you pay for. Definitely try the chocolate terrine (it's like a mousse) for dessert.
Rachel S
Had an awesome meal here! Drinks apps and food were delicious. Would definitely come back!
Kate Grimm
Great dinner last night. Food was exceptional - ingredients were fresh and seasonal. Portions were appropriate (not too big) for the rich ingredients. Can't say enough about the duck (their menu rotates often - so go soon!)
Ava Shirikian
I don’t know where to begin. From start to finish we had an amazing time. Starting with the atmosphere we felt warm and welcomed. The staff was extremely attentive and cared for all our needs and questions. The food was UNBELIEVABLE. Absolutely the best meal we have ever had complimented by the best drinks we have ever had. We will be sure to return.
Joseph Stodolka
Great food. Always special. Service is superb as is the menu.
Kate Grimm
Great food with a seasonal focus. The duck is amazing and don't miss the morel fricassee. Great, friendly waitstaff (hi Derek) made for an enjoyable and delicioud evening!
Mekong Aroma
My husband and I dine here for our 12 years anniversary and the staff were super nice. We love the service and the food were delicious. The only reason I am giving it a 4/5 is because I was a bit disappointed in the charcuterie board. It’s unique and very different from what I am use to. However, our main entree and the desserts were superb. We will definitely go back.
Kenneth Brooks
This is our favorite restaurant in the city (or State for that matter). We love the rotating menu items that change with the season to ensure that you get the freshest food possible. I'm not always a huge lamb person, but I have a hard time not ordering a lamb dish every time I go as it is always delicious.
Duck, Pheasant, pork. . . everything, and I mean everything, is always top notch and delicious. Lamb Carpaccio - amazing: Ham Biscuit - amazing. John (Owner) maintains the highest standards in the kitchen, and Joe (GM) keeps the place running like a top.
The atmosphere is welcoming, warm, and inviting. The drinks at the bar are wonderful, diverse and pair great with the food. Also, if you like whisky and bourbon, this place is for you.
Finally, the desserts are the perfect ending to the meals, and are worth a trip just by themselves. Cannot recommend enough.
Jerry Bartos
The food was outstanding. We went for my son's birthday. We shared the Ham Biscuits and Pork Belly for appetizers. Both were delicious. Two of us had the Pork Shoulder, one had the herb Spatzel and my son had the Lamb. I want to go back this weekend for the lamb. Perfectly medium rare.
The Chocolate chip iice cream sandwich with bourbon ice cream and the chocolate tureen were decedent.
Service was very good and it is a great atmosphere. You can't go wrong going here.
Karla Wetley
Our dinner started off on the wrong foot when the host informed us the third party reservation system didn’t work and we’d have to sit at the bar. After initially being ignored by the bartenders we finally got our order in and then waited about 50 minutes for small, just fine entrees. Not worth the price in any way. Wouldn’t recommend.
Jason
This has to be the best dining experience I have had in a while. I called on a Friday at 4pm and they got me a reservation at the chef's table. He told me as long as I didn't take 2 hours to eat which I agreed to be out of there before that time frame. From the time I arrived until I left the staff was amazing. The fact that they don't have to dress in all black probably helps with the smiles. Every dish we had was great. The fact that we got to chat with the chef's and watch all the action was amazing. I also got to buy them a round of shots for giving us such an awesome experience. One of the chef's even went out of his way to give us some bourbon ice cream to pair with our dessert which was not how it is normally served. It did enhance the dessert and I was extremely pleased. We actually ended up ordering 2 desserts that evening. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Without a doubt I will be returning.
Dustin Kwee
A gem in Milwaukee. Though the prices are steep, it's well worth to try this place. A very creative take on fresh, local ingredients
Aaron Weidenbaum (Aaron)
I’ve been to a lot of great restaurants not only in Milwaukee but in the USA and world. The quality, consistency, and options from Morel compete with any restaurant locally or in the many places I’ve been. The vibe is mellow, the atmosphere is not loud and the food is delectable. Highly recommend this place!
Nick DeMarais
The food there is simply phenomenal. I've been there several times, and I'm always amazed. Quite possibly the best restaurant in Milwaukee.
Meryl Fitzpatrick
We arrived one minute before they opened but the restaurant got filled up pretty quickly. We ordered the duck liver moose for appetizer and rainbow trout and lamp chop. We also ordered two glasses of sparkling wine. My fish was delicious and the green sauce (Pea Tendril ) was amazing. My friend thought the lamb chop was okay nothing really special. Wine was decent.
Monica Steren
Great dining experience; our server Derrick was very kind and accommodating
Jerome Oneill
Really great restaurant. The atmosphere is intimate - not loud or crowded. The waitstaff is attentive without being overbearing. Nice wine list and some different entree options than the usual steak and seafood. I had the Farroto - like risotto but made with farro instead of rice. Very savory and creamy. My friend had the trout. It was crispy outside and tender inside. We would both order these meals again. We will definitely return to Morel the next time we are in Milwaukee.

Went there last night for our anniversary. The hostess welcomed us and immediately wished us a happy anniversary. My wife must have mentioned the reason for our visit when she made the reservation. The service was splendid with extra attention paid to the correct placement of silverware, plates, glasses, etc. I enjoyed the open kitchen and spent too much time watching the chefs prepare the meals. I noticed they would occasionally take a bite of a dish they were preparing. Figured they were hungry and sneaking a quick bite. Unfortunately, my dish came too spicy for my pallet. The hostess immediately wanted to have it remade. She took the plate back to the kitchen and I saw all three chefs grab a spoon and taste the plate. I couldn't tell what the conclusion was, my guess is that the plate was fine and my pallet was too tender. I realized that they weren't actually sneaking a quick bite, but they were actually tasting every plate that went out. Chefs that actually taste their food - very impressive! The hostess finished out the meal by providing each us with a glass of champagne in recognition of our anniversary. Thanks! The bill is right where I'd expect it to be for an upscale restaurant and we'll be back again!

Great experience from beginning to end! We recently went there for a birthday celebration and the team warmly agreed to some small favors I asked to make the evening special. Dinner itself was fantastic, our server was friendly, fun and just the right mix of enough, but not too much attention. Finally, the outdoor dining courtyard was comfortable and very pretty!
Matthew Diener
The Pork Shoulder (served with a homemade smoked cheddar wurst) was the BEST meal I’ve had in YEARS!!! The everything on the menu is local/farm sourced and of the highest quality ingredients. Morel is probably the most underrated restaurant in Milwaukee. The Rabbit Ragout is incredible as well as the Beef Short Rib. Staff is very good at wine recommendations as well. Can’t wait to go back.
Gina Gruenewald
This place is AMAZING. Consistently above average culinary experience.
Joel Carl
A great meal at a good farm-to-table restaurant! We had an appetizer and two entrees for 2 people. The pork belly and beans was a great starter that had us excited for the meal. Smoky, salty, and sweet! We had the pork chop and thr walleye. Both dishes were outstanding and very different. The walleye was light and seasoned to bring out the natural flavors in the ingredients. The pork chop was served on a bed of greens and polenta made with 5 year cheddar. Oh man. I will be thinking about that polenta for a LONG time. Even after we were stuffed, we kept going on that polenta until there was none left. Thank you, Morel! I can't wait until our next visit!
Gabrielle Hayden
Amazing atmosphere and service. All around was a wonderful experience. The food was so fresh and unique! Eric and Mike were Phenomenal, went above and beyond to make sure we had a 5 star experience. Will definitely be visiting again in the near future.
Andrew Kull
Fantastic 4 star food. Very friendly.
Added: just had the best dish I've ever had. It was a venison leg. Ate it before I took a pic. It was amazing with so many layers. Venison, venison sausage, beets, earthy cheesy risotto, spicy greens, apples. Each bite was different and amazing. It is genius.
Chris Loth
I'm reticent to give this five star review but only because I'm greedy and don't want this place to become more popular that it already is so I can still get a reservation!
The wait staff is phenomenal. Our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Her recommendations were spot on.
The food is out is this world. The chefs are to be commended. They made the most wonderful lamb and hanger steak for our entrees. The appetizers were also amazing. We had lamb carapaccio and a special mushroom dish that were both amazing as well.
For dessert we had an amazing lemon cake with raspberries and chocolate cake.
Honestly, there wasn't a single bite I did not throughly enjoy.
Andrew Albers
So I took my girlfriend there for our anniversary, based on looking up the articles and reviews on Morel. I have to say, we will DEFINITELY be back. The wait staff all around us were great with menu knowledge and friendliness, even providing some great recommendations. The gentleman running host, I’m guessing was either the GM or owner, did a fantastic job checking in on the tables as well to see how everyone was doing. Prices are a little high for a typical budget, but the venue, the meal and the customer service absolutely made our anniversary night fantastic. Thank you to the entire staff!
Kevin Berres
Food was spectacular, service was amazing. Our server was so friendly and helpful. Everyone was wearing masks on the patio and I felt incredibly safe and taken care of. Will definitely go back. Oh and if they have chorizo on the menu, ORDER IT.
Luke Burkholder
Great food with an emphasis on simplicity, quality, and interesting combinations of great ingredients. Their entrees are great, but I highly suggest that you explore the apps and small plates. There are some real gems there. Also, it helps you save room for dessert, which is not to be missed at Morel. Dessert is not an afterthought here, and the choices are unique, delicious, and very “adult” (not sickeningly sweet.) A real gem in the Milwaukee food scene and somewhere we keep on the short list for dates and special occasions.
Jon Weber
Spectacular dinner, ambience, and service. Highly recommend the pork shoulder and walleye fish dinners. Truly a memorable meal. Thank you
Hillary Wessels
Excellent experience from the moment we walked in to the time we left. The food was amazing- flavors were well balanced with a local flair.
Derrick, our server, was phenomenal. His enthusiasm and knowledge made the night great!
We'll be back, for sure!

We sat at the "Chef's Table" (bar top seats in front of the open kitchen). We really enjoyed seeing all the food go out to different tables. It was fun to ask the Chef's questions about the menu and just chat. Our server was very attentive and the menu was a good variety, but hard to choose because everything looked so good! Overall great experience.
Frank Petriglia
What a fabulous find, this restaurant is beyond 5 stars. Owner chef John Manyo is brilliant in his menu and dish flavours. Food is farm to table, fresh and cooked to perfection. Even the deserts are made in house and equally as flavourful. Show your appreciation by buying the cook staff and round for $20. Well worth the money. Loved the experience
Jenny Johnson
Morel is doing it right. My table of two had a starter, two entrees and two desserts (we couldn't decide on just one) for a very satisfying meal. Every dish was unique and delicious. Our server paired a glass of wine with my entree, and it took the flavors to the next level. I also had a mezcal cocktail that was well balanced and inspiring. I can't wait to go back!
Erica A.
If I could give it 6 stars I would. Request Derek as a server if you can, fantastic. The short rib and pheasant were amazing.
Tyan Soo
Service and food was great... Creative, fresh menu and fantastic drink and wine menu. Unfortunately their air conditioning system was not keeping up and it was 90° out so it was extremely hot but otherwise fantastic!
Jennifer Harmon
We ate at Morel last night and loved it, well worth the 30 minute wait. We ordered a starter special of mushrooms and polenta, the short rib entree, and the lamb chop entree. We also ordered cheesecake for dessert, cocktails, and wine. Each dish was amazing and unique. The atmosphere was nice but a tad loud and warm. Our waiter was helpful, friendly, and knowledgable. He noticed our lamb chop was a bit smaller than other customers' plates and gave us $10 off our meal. Overall great meal, I would highly recommend.
David Kramer
I am so happy I came across Morel during my visit to Milwaukee. Everything was really outstanding. Very nice ambiance on the patio, and inside, friendly and attentive staff, and the food! Thoughtfully crafted, expertly prepared, and absolutely delicious. You can’t go wrong here. I’m not the easiest to impress; this is a top notch establishment.
Wesley Freeland
Incredible food and great staff
Dana Hamoy
We loved our meals. Definitely would go back.
Stefani
Morel never disappoints. Their menu items are ever-changing and they incorporate quality ingredients from local growers/producers into their dishes. The lardo spread with bread is extremely delicious and satisfying. Entrees are well-executed and well-seasoned, which is extremely important to me. The servers are knowledgeable, attentive, and polite. Definitely one of my all-time favorite restaurants.
Hughes Family Hughes
Delightful experience! Everything was delicious. Had a big party and everything went very smoothly
Kim H
Absolutely one of the top restaurants I've ever been too. Everything from the starter to the drinks were amazing. On top of the fantastic food, the staff was extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
Patrick Radlinski
Absolutely splendid. To begin the f&b adventure, rotating small plates of variety paired with the choice of wine was exceptional. The service nailed it, full of knowledge and passion. Main course easily contends with the best nationally. Overall a 45 out-of-10 place. Must visit.
Ben Stander
Service - Excellent. The Host, Bartender, and Waitress all seemed happy to be there. They were quick, efficient, welcoming, and smiling.
Food - Perfected dishes. Each dish was well executed and fantastic. The menu is on the foodie side, but portions are not the typical small foodie portions. The menu rotates with seasonal food. Dining in late November, we had the Duck Confit and the Lamb Ragu. The waitress mentioned a 3 meat donut. "I can't explain why it works, it just does. It's really good." We tried it, and she was spot on. I can't tell you why that combination tastes so good, but it does. The cocktails are also worth a look.
Price - Can't compare. We are from out of town. Everything was 25% lower than what were were used to in Minneapolis though. That was nice.
Atmosphere - Relaxed. Active bar. Jazz covering the conversation. Not pretentious like you might find at a more stereotypical foodie restaurant.
Emily Kapszukiewicz
Flawless! My husband and I took my parents to dinner here last weekend and we raved about how creative and delicious the food was, the warm and knowledgeable the staff, and the inviting dining atmosphere. We had the ricotta gnudi- so perfectly flavorful and it melts in your mouth, the pork belly - amazing mushrooms, the pork shoulder and knockwurst, and the hanger steak special. We all loved our meals as well as each others. The appetizers and desserts were well balanced and full of thoughtful flavor and ingredient combinations. Morel is truly special.
Hendrick Long
Morel has turned into our favorite restaurant in Milwaukee. Great food, great service and always accommodating. We were just there with a group of 7 which was no problem. Get the ham sliders on buttermilk biscuits if they have them. They say you can share them but you may not want to! Everyone's entrees were perfect although the lamb with merguez sausage is not to be missed. Bringing your own wine is allowed for a corkage fee. Plan ahead and go; you won't be disappointed.
Willis McMillian
Great atmosphere for an intimate date night. Host and wait staff are very attentive. Food and cocktails are made with local ingredients.
Dawn Armstrong
Food was tasty, prepared well with fresh ingredients. I would have preferred a few more vegetarian options. I am not a vegetarian but some of the meat options seemed a little heavy. Dessert and drinks were great too. Overall, very good!
Paul Bielinski
This restaurant is a must if you are in the Milwaukee area. They know how to prepare food with top ingredients and care. I'm not really a big dessert person but I sure am glad I had one hear. It was definitely the highlight of the meal and that says a lot coming from me!
Matthew Frazier
Outstanding food and service. Pork belly app, wine suggestion from the host, and the short ribs were all perfect. We loved the cobbler and the caramel pyramid for dessert and plan to return when we're back in Milwaukee.
Suzanne Kalra
From entering the restaurant all the way to leaving the service was spectacular. Our server, Carson, was amazing, knowledgeable, super friendly and warm. It was very clear that Carson was loving his job, crazy foodie with extensive knowledge of the menu and more.
Holly Asbach
I went to Morel last night for the first time and absolutely loved it! The interior of the restaurant is natural and rustic. Lots of reclaimed wood and candles. I started with a craft cocktail, Z's Vacation, which I would highly recommend for those who like tequila. My friend and I split 2 of the starters, parsnip soup and the ham honey biscuit. We each picked a main course as well. They had an amazing selection of desserts and we ended up splitting a flight of ice cream (homemade Rye Whiskey, Bourbon, and Raspberry ice cream)! The service was excellent and very attentive.
Cassie Zurn
Went here for my 11 year wedding anniversary and had a wonderful experience. The food was fresh and interesting. When I shared it was our anniversary they gave us a corner window table so we had more privacy. Friendly staff rounded off a great night out for us. Would highly recommend.
Christopher MacVane
Cocktails were great, service was great, and the food was exceptional. The lamb ragout was my favorite. The lamb cervaiche was also outstanding.
Bryan Stewart
One of the best restaurants in Milwaukee. The staff was great. Felt very welcomed and cared for from the minute we opened the door and stepped in. The apps, main dishes and desserts were all great. The speciality drinks were also great.
Saif Ali
I am a regular here and the food has never ever been short of perfection the atmosphere, staff absolutely everything. The manager joe is the nicest guy you will ever meet. The waiters and waitresses are absolutely tremendous. Any negative review about this place which i doubt there is a lot of.... DO NOT BELIEVE IT ive been to this restaurant at least 40 times and everything was beyond exceptional... do whats good for you stop going to chipotle and olive garden and treat yourself to top tier food right here in Milwaukee!
Sarah Wonder
This is a fantastic foodie American deliciousness from crafted cocktails, fantastic wine selection and just hands down amazing creative food everything I’ve ever ordered!
Lucas Duffey
Pork belly, lamb carpaccio and corn soup were all excellent. The pork belly in particular was the best. You might want to avoid the bar seats directly in front of the grill since it's pretty hot. The rabbit in the rabbit ragout is the best I've had. The sausage in the lamb dish was unpleasant. Goat cheesecake and salted caramel mousse were both delicious desserts.
Jason Kruchko
Great place for a date or upscale casual dinner with friends. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxing. The staff is knowledgable about the great food a d drinks they are serving. My wife and I have dined there a dlfew times and the food is fantastic, well thought out and fresh.
Alison Yuhas
Good, but a bit overpriced. Their cocktails (specifically the Manhattan) are delicious, but our appetizers were almost better than our main courses.
Would try somewhere else in the area first before going back.
Chad Niemi
Food so wonderfully balanced and so creative. Wait staff was cheerful and attentive. Mixed drinks seem to be on the smokey end, which is not my favorite, but they were still really good.
angelasharris2791
Outstanding! If you can get the Chef's Table, it is a great experience. Food is spectacular (I had the lamb ragout) and if you want to show off MKE's foodie scene, take people here!
Jane Jenkins
Have had a party and drinks here and have been satisfied with the service and ambience. It feels like it has the authenticity of a 19th century Milwaukee tavern. Small, dark where it needs to be dark, and friendly staff make it one of the best taverns downtown.
D Aufdi
Appetizer, entrees and dessert were all exceptional.
+1 For the friendly and knowledgeable service.
+1 For the locally sourced ingredients.
Marian Manyo
Always great food. The ham biscuit starter is wonderful,as is the polenta with seasonal mushrooms.
Mains always include fish ,fowl, beef ,pork, lamb, or vegetarian. Vegan meals are offered ,but you might want to call ahead.
I have never had a disappointing meal or service at Morel.
Sara Bee (urbancashmere)
So good! Great food! Great service! Go go go!
Lois Russell
I love the variety of small plates--changing menu and daily specials mean visiting often. The food is always fresh and flavorful, and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Be sure to have tres leches cake for dessert. It is my number one recommendation in Milwaukee.
Irene Parker
“Best German Food anywhere!”
I've been to Mader's quite a few times and I make it a point to get there whenever I'm in Milwaukee. There is no better German food on the planet! Let me start with their Wiener schnitzel, I had the veal but tasted the pork and they are both out of this world delicious!
Hamnet Graber
Began with a cocktail they'd added a few years ago at my request. Though it was no longer on the active cocktail list, the bartender was able to consult a library of archived cocktail recipes and make me a fine "Le Fleur Antique," which is based on mezcal and violet liqueur. When I finished the cocktail at the bar, I moved to a table, having already consulted with staff about wine options.
Michael D
Overall, THE BEST dining establishment in Milwaukee. The lamb carpaccio and burratra starters are fantastic. The spatzle, pheasant breast, and beef short ribs are all excellent. The salted caramel mousse dessert is remarkable. The bar keeps really know their craft here, and the servers are pleasant and knowledgeable as well.
Michael Good
Wonderful dinner for our Anniversary. Very attentive staff, outstanding creative dishes. Nice wine list.
Hannah Mitchell
Wow. What a thrill it is to have a restaurant like this in Milwaukee . I dined here with my boyfriend for our anniversary and we were well pleased. We had the special: shaved ham with biscuits and honey and it was A-MAZ-ING. I dream about it. Then the flatbread. Fantastic . Boyfriend had a lamb dish, it was unique and surprising. I had pork with sausage and celery root puree. It was elevated and delicious, but a tad salty. They gifted us with two glasses of champagne so thanks!! We were too full for dessert but we will surely be back and will spread the word to friends to check out Morel. You should too!
Francois Michot
Had a great time, Apertizer, Main course and wine were great. Very courteous service. Price was fair. Will be back to try more on the menu. One small typo issue with type of french wine on your list. Should be spelled Chateauneuf Du Pape.
Emily Trombley
We visited Bradford Beach this past weekend when we visited Milwaukee for Labor Day weekend. What a nice beach for right in the center of town! Great views of the blue waters of Lake Michigan! Tiki bars. A place to buy food. Tables to sit at. Beach volleyball courts. The beach was beautiful. We sat on a rock near the beach and took in the views for a while..
Kara Korenic
Morel is a lovely place to have dinner with friends. We sat at the bar for drinks and dinner. Joe (bartender) was fantastic... offering great suggestions. Food is fabulous!! Need to go back to try more of the menu. Love and would highly recommend
Marie Mace
Menu changes often so don’t know If
the house made fettuccine and black truffle will be offered but if so, it’s a gift. These guys are the best. Thank you Morel chefs. Luv ya.
Jamie Hendrix
It was our first time and we had a fabulous time. The service was prompt and courteous. We loved everything we ordered. The fusion of the different kinds of food was to die for. It was an explosion of goodness in your mouth.
Mark Rasmussen
Great farm to table restaurant. Innovative specials. Surprises on the wine list. Interesting house cocktails. If you haven't heard, it's time to take a risk. They deserve a visit.
Sarah Lambrecht
Outstanding good service overall experience. Loved everything especially the unusual daylily bud appetizer.
Andrew Vasina

A terrific dining experience, from the moment that you enter you are immediately impressed with the eclectic decor. The bar is comfortable easy to sit at and allows for intimate conversation. The employees are without doubt the friendliest in Milwaukee providing outstanding customer service at every opportunity. You are greeted by the hostess quickly and seated just as fast. All of the servers work as a team to ensure that the clients receive maximum attention, my favorite server is Margaret, who is delightful, Margaret is concerned with your experience and just attentive enough. Throughout the establishment you will find the housekeeping standards to be impeccable front to back. I have been to all of the top restaurants in Milwaukee and by far the food at Morel ranks among the top three. Chef Jonathan Manyo uses locally obtained ingredients to produce fresh, healthy scrumptious robust offerings, no skimping here. I have been to restaurants from New York to San Francisco you will find no better than Morel, I regularly take associates from NY SF LA and they are genuinely impressed Prices for the quality at this level should be three times what they are asking and be well deserved. As you can tell I highly recommend Morel, they are the new face of dining in this city.
Morel is a must if you are dining in Milwaukee.

Ben
How many wild mushrooms are on the menu? Alot! The food was awesome. I can go on a diet tomorrow! Tuesday is half price wine. Great beer list and specialty cocktails.
Rod Ofte
First class..true to local cuisine.
Excellent job to Jon and staff!
Kevyn Schwab
Fantastic farm-to-table experience. My group of three each ordered different dishes and loved them all. As my first time trying a duck dish, Morel got me hooked.
arrowsx10
This was fabulous! We got to eat at the chef's table due to a reservation change. Wow, watching them prepare everything in house was amazing and the food reflected their culinary talents.
Captain Dave Spoor
Had the lamb ragout and it was wonderful. Very rich but the chili kept it from being too much. The sour cherry tart finished things off very well.
Judith Rodriguez
My best friend and I were starving, the restaurant we had in mind was closed for a special event. As you might know MKE's good restaurants close the kitchen by 9:30 pm. We look in the map Morel is the closest giving the time pressure that everything might close soon. We call and a man warmly tell us that he will absolutely take us in.
Jean F.
Didn't like the fact that all the cooks had full beards without anything protecting the hair from dropping into the food.
Staff was friendly. Food was good, but not exceptional.
Brian Hintze
Hands down one of the best gourmet restaurants in the city... Jon Manyo is maybe the best chef in the city... scratch that.. is the best chef in the city... the hanging steak and lamb is a master piece.. bravo
Jake Melby

Donald-James Garcia-Dwyer
Just go! Delicious food! Locally sourced. Wisconsin fed waiters. Lots of alcohol options.
Jocelyn Fuller
This past Saturday night at Morel we were spoiled by Chef and Owner Jonathan Manyo and his Morel Team of Matt, Matt and Ralph H. Both Matthews, Tenders of the bar, and Ralph took such good care of us and were a delight to talk to. The physical space that is Morel is open with wood everywhere, but not dark because of the very large gorgeous windows. The bar is long and one can look down to Jon and the cook team firing up each dish at the end of the bar.
Alex Neve
Absolutely love this place. The food is consistently amazing but the service is on another level. Friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating wait staff. A must visit for sure!
