Laid back margaritaville feel except with bistro size plates. Great river front area with awesome outdoor seating. Though location doesn't make up for the outrageous cost anything on the menu. Service was quick once we got the waiter to the table. I'd plan to come again but the price point has me saying I'll find a different place. Tempted to give 3 stars but the atmosphere and kind server tipped the scales to 4.

Very good food and setting on the river. A bit pricey, but not crazy expensive. We had the Seared Tuna Tower and the Snappy Shrimp appetizers, then we both had Mahi Fish Tacos for lunch. All were very good. Add iced tea and a soda - $70.56 plus tip. Service was well timed and attentive. Thank you, Aryana!

Absolutely wonderful restaurant. Seared tuna and scallops are amazing. Beautiful summer days this is the place to go. Drinks are delicious but powerful. Awesome experience and we all enjoyed. Looking forward to coming back for summerfest and hangout at Sail Loft!

Star ratings. 1 bad. 2 below average. 3 average / neutral. 4 good. 5 excellent. Average. Went here before show. Always worried about restaurants that capitalize on locations by venues. But overall no complaints. Good atmosphere, prices ans service. Nothing amazing but nothing bad. Especially for a restaurant that focuses on the bar sales. Tuna was to be expected for a bar. Probably wouldn't order again. The shrimp was great.

This was a stop on the way out of town that proved to be a great choice. We ordered a couple of appetizers Crab cakes, shrimp and then Lobster ravioli & fish n chips. Our server was very attentive and polite. The food was fresh and had great flavor. When visiting again, we have a new destination spot.

Hot summer evening. What could be better than sitting near the water with a nice breeze and a delicious well cooked and served meal? We sat on the outdoor deck where there was a nice breeze even on a 90 degree day as well as a nice view of the Milwaukee River. I had the lobster roll ($20) with Old Bay fries ($3). The service was swift and efficient. The food arrived quickly. The fries were hot and tasty. The sandwich was stuffed with delicious lobster salad on a toasted roll. The salad includes thinly sliced celery and red onion with mayo, herbs and arugula. It’s so nice to have an easy quick meal in such a lovely location. Highly recommend.

We stopped by the Milwaukee Sail Loft on Sunday, June 27th for lunch after a walk along the lakefront. The Milwaukee Sail Loft has a modern maritime vibe. The outdoor seating area along the river is AMAZING. We were greeted and seated promptly. The service was friendly and attentive. We had the Grilled Mahi Street Tacos & Blackened Shrimp Street Tacos both with Fries. Both taco plates were very good - the Mahi strips were grilled and seasoned nicely - the shrimp had a nice kick in it's blackened seasoning - the Cabbage Slaw, fresh Pico De Gallo & Garlic Aioli tied the tacos nicely together. The fries were crispy and seasoned well. Overall, a nice light lunch at a GREAT outdoor venue - we'll definitely be back.

What a fantastic spot! It was very live in the building - the Bucks won that night. 😂 The views were great from the patio, and the food was more than we expected - it was super delicious! That crabby dip.....😋 Kaiden, our server, was amazing, and we even met the chef - who was outright hilarious! Definitely a place to stop in if you're visiting Milwaukee. 👌 They're cool with you even if you aren't a Bucks' fan. 😁

Staff was very friendly, but service was slow. Environment on the river during good weather is excellent. Lunch with 3 rounds of drinks was 2 hours, no apps. Food was good, but prices were a bit high for the amount given on some items, others it was a value. Will go back, but if others options are presented they may be taken.

The sail lift has turned into one of our favorite places for seafood in Milwaukee. The location is cool, with a great view of the Hoan, especially cool at night when it’s lit up. The staff is very friendly and the service was exceptional. Great beer selection and a good drink menu.

These guys knocked it out of the park. My friend and I are mostly vegan or vegetarian, and wanted to see what they could do for us. The head chef came out and worked with the waiter to put together dishes we would like. They turned out amazing. Great service, and a huge shout-out to Curtis and the head chef for creating a personalized experience for us.

It's not perfect and I had doubts going in due to very mixed reviews. The service was adequate for the busy time (6pm on a Thursday). Food came just after we thought it was running late, but before we felt the need to ask about it. The food was fine. Nothing special, neither very good or at all bad. Just average. Average size burger, slightly fewer fries than desired but still adequate. The location is really what you ste paying premium prices for. Especially on the patio, right at the river's edge.

We're in town for a wedding and Tony at the Courtyard Marriott on E Michigan St recommended your restaurant. We came in from Boston and Philly as a group of 11 and the food and service was excellent! And the prices were great. Our waitress was excellent (I apologize for forgetting her name - our group name was Jerry if that helps to identify her). Thank you for a great experience!

I was so happy I saw their ad in Sheppard Express during Burger Week. They helped me recharge my wheelchair and helped me with my dining experience since I have limiting food restrictions. I also cannot wait to sit on their patio since it over looks the Milwaukee River and the Lake and is supper close to Summerfest. Imagine the great time I am going to have the next time I am there. Can't wait.

Really great and on the river. The service was beyond EXCELLENT . Giving us ample time to enjoy the scenery, enjoy our food without being rushed and offering dessert. We didn't stay too long but the nice part was not feeling rushed.

We went for lunch on a Sunday. The inside was empty and the outside was busy but not full. It took a really, really long time for our food to arrive. They don't serve anything on the right side of the menu (fish or entrées) at lunchtime. However the food was good, especially the sweet potato fries. The view was really nice too.

Just had a wonderful dinner at this restaurant. We started our meal by enjoying east coast oysters. I had the Seafood Diablo and my wife had the shrimp tacos. We ended the meal by sharing a piece keylime pie. Food was delicious, and the service was fantastic. Our server was Matthew. He was very attentive and helped us make great food choices. Be sure to request Matthew at your next visit. By the way, tried to make a reservation. I was directed to Open Table where I was told there were no reservations until 9:15 pm. We decide to go anyway to see if we could be squeezed in. Arriving at the restaurant there were plenty of available tables. Don't trust Open Table because you may miss out on a mighty fine meal.

The menu was a great selection but the oysters were not the best. My boyfriend got tacos and they were amazing but the rice he had was probably the worst rice I’ve ever tasted in my life.

Great place for seafood near the river. We sat outside and saw boats coming in to dock and sailing. Reyna was our server and she was great, made us feel right at home when we were out of towners. Shrimp cocktail was fresh and refreshing. Crab cakes were good. Good selection of beers. I had the mahi tacos which were great with a little hot sauce. Definitely stop by if you’re in milwaukee for an evening dinner then take a walk down the river to the lighthouse a short distance away.

A very fun place to visit , lots of really interesting things to see . A large oval bar surrounded by floor to ceiling windows overlooking the Daniel Hoan bridge ( lights up at night with many theme colors ) and bordered by the Milwaukee river at the harbor entrance . Plenty of atmosphere and a wonderful seating area with views of wooden frames for sailing boat and other types of water craft . Good food and drink specials make the Sail Loft a must stop when in the area .

Went on a Wednesday night, it was very busy but the staff and service was fast and friendly. We ordered the crabby dip and bacon wrapped scallops to start both were amazing. The scallops melted in your mouth so gooood. Then for our entress we got the seafood Diablo and lobster ravioli. Let me tell ya... AMAZING defiantly reccomend going here for the seafood!!

Nice patio on the water. Male host had an attitude and didn't seem to want do his job. Food was ok. I got burger that was raw inside after asking for medium well and fries were a bit cold. The lobster jambalaya looked pretty solid. It had 2 lobster tails on top. Beer selection was average, nothing outstanding.

Beautiful location but need to hire more people-friendly workers. Our server, Alex was nice but she took way too long to come and take our order and then took even longer to give us the bill. We wanted to take a walk along the water while it was still bright out but decided not to after it starting turning dark. Some of the staff walked around like they had no desire to be there that day. The food was just okay. I tried the blackened street tacos. It was spicy, which was good but the rice it came with was very dry. Overall, I probably won't come back but hopefully others try it out for themselves and maybe have much better results.

Very nice view on the lake, the board walk was a surprise never walked along the walk way, each board has engraved event for tge year , month, & day. Great location with a view of the Milwaukee and Kinnickinnic River. The food was really good. Salmon prepared just right (they recommend medium rare). The mahi was a little dry but the aioli sauce made up for it. All their desserts are made from scratch (the peanut butter pie is amazing but the espresso cheesecake was lumpy) Our table had a weird sticky feeling even after our server wiped it down. Nevertheless, we will be back!!

This is a modern unique take on seafood and upscale pub dining. We ordered the Maryland Crab Cakes to start and the Char Crusted Ahi Tuna and Seafood Diablo after. The crab cakes were flavorful, the tuna seasoned wonderfully, and the Diablo the perfect combination of savory and spicy, if not slightly oily. The views of the river with the modern nautical decor and bar atmosphere with genuine hospitality make this for a great night out for dinner and drinks.

The staff, the view, the location and the food, and the wine!!! One of the best spots in the city. The food is fantastic whether you are a fan of seafood or not. They have a good amount of mainlander friendly dishes as well. The drink selection is ridiculously good and it's clear that they put in as much care for the food as they do with the drinks. Their brunch is definitely worth checking out. One of my favorites in the city. If your going during summerfest make sure you call ahead.

Nice place Had high hopes The food was underwhelming and both bottles of ketchup were expired. It's not like I go looking for those details but the expiration date was in my face. Figured no big deal. We asked for a new bottle and received a 2nd expired bottle that was almost empty with a "sorry about that guys". The fries were incredibly over seasoned. The onion that came with my burger was almost nonexistent. Kids menu was great. My daughter had a grilled cheese and I found myself wanting her plate more then mine. If you go I'd recommend the kids menu. All that aside, I don't think I'll be going back. The premium price you pay seems to be for location and not the quality of food.

Beautiful location. Plenty of seating both indoor and outdoor. Awesome view of the Hoan bridge at night. Especially when it's lite up. The wait staff is super friendly. Food is good. I enjoy the blackened shrimp tacos (which can get made gluten free). Good food, good prices, good atmosphere. Sail Loft is one of my go-to places.

It was a beautiful location looking out at Lake Michigan, across from the far end of the summerfest grounds. The food was amazing. I recommend the clam chowder and the blackened tuna. So very good. Could be absolutely packed in the summer so we picked a good day to go. Th service was really good too.

I was hoping for a better weather night, but it was mid forties and drizzling, so I had to sit in the restaurant. Got a table immediately, and my server was more attentive than some I had on this trip. The drink was never close to empty, the meal was great, nice salad, Seafood Diablo for the entrée which was really good, and a slice of Key Lime Pie. Price was a little high, but if you were able to sit out on the patio area on a sunny (and WARM) afternoon/evening, the price is in line with most waterfront restaurants I've been to. I would personally go back again if I'm ever in the Milwaukee area. Location is close to several things (although after spending the weekend, I found that everything in Milwaukee is really close). Thumbs up.

Had their lobster roll twice, one with friends and one alone. Both were consistently delish, New England style. The lobster was not overwhelmingly lathered with butter or creams, you could taste the celery buts and some bits of onions - which made it full of flavor and good mooisture. Then, the bread was buttered and had a nice crunch outside and softness inside and kept its shape and didnt leave buttery fingers. I had it with the vegetable medly and brussles. Loved it during my lunch time.

We went here yesterday for lunch on two boats. When we were shocked that there was actually dockage available, certainly no complaints there. We went in and were seated. While the service was quite slow, we notices that, for the entire restaurant, there were only two waiters who were, without a doubt, busting their butts trying to keep up, so again, no complaints, clearly they are dealing with the same worker shortages as everyone else and one cannot fault them for it. We all (nine of us) ordered different items and everyone was super happy. I thoroughly enjoyed the Mahi tacos, while my wife enjoyed the burger. The one issue we had was when trying to order the Mahi entrée, we were told that the entrées weren't available until after 2. It did not say that anywhere on the menu and probably should, again, not the end of the world. Overall, definitely worth going and, whenever we take a trip up on the boat we will be going back.

Nice view, good food. I had the mahi mahi , nice. We are always curious and asked one of the bartenders what was unique about a stand alone Stella tap. She said "nothing ". The other bartender ( Vee) came over an quickly added it was one of the freshest taps. The other bartender sarcastically said under her breath" it's a spaceship ". Very rude. Turned us right off and my husband said " perhaps I chose the wrong place fore a business meeting"

Peach mimosa was great but the garlic mash needs garlic, parsley, and sour cream. The oysters were ok except I had to request to see date tag for freshness when it should have been conspicuous when brought to table. Server forgot to bring side plates with order of wings

Location is great, with really nice views and a waterfront deck that's perfect for summer. But it seems like Sail Loft isn't sure if it wants to be a neighborhood pub or a high-end seafood restaurant. On one hand, they've got decent sandwiches, two-for-one beer specials, plus sports and trivia. But the rest of the menu is filled with appetizers and entrees that bring really small portions at pretty high prices. The food is tasty, but it's not a fine dining spot that justifies $30+ for tasting menu portions. If they just leaned into good food at good prices, this would be one of my top places. For now, grabbing a few drinks outside is time well spent, but skip dinner.

Great food, great service, great views down by the lake. Everything I expected in a top-notch restaurant. But then the unexpected happened. I walked away without picking up my credit card. I didn't notice for two days. This was going to be a disaster... I called them and they said "oh yeah - we have your card here at the bar - just come by and pick it up whenever". There would have been no witnesses, no risk. But the staff's personal integrity saved me. Instead of a disaster, it was a renewal of faith in people. The staff at the Sail Loft have my most sincere appreciation and respect. Salute!

Ambience-A Waitstaff- B+ Scottish Ale- A+ Mahi Tacos- B Brussels Sprouts with Bacon- F! Freshness of food-C Don't bother with the brussel sprouts. Barely cooked, over salted, and they use that cheap-tasting fake butter. Blecch. It was super dead when we were there on a Friday night for dinner. Weird. But, it was early and the dead of winter. I am letting you know as a warning that I got SO SICK immediately after eating here, and I DO think the cause was a lack of freshness. I have a gut of steel, so this experience was unusual for me, but you have been forewarned. One of my tablemates (he got the fish & chips) also had stomach issues that evening, but not as bad. Maybe things would've been different if they had a robust business and went through their stock faster. 🤷‍♀️

I've heard great things from many friends. Was a little disappointed in the food quality. I've had better lobster ravioli from Italian chain Resturants. Maybe they were having an off day. I'll give it another shot.

It's a beautiful view and open interior, however the food was mediocre at best and they were so short staffed that it took us almost a half hour just to put in a food order since our waiter stopped by so rarely. However it's not their fault we understand, however with such a light skeleton crew it's hard to not mention it.

We chose Sail Loft because it was the only place that let us bring our dog that was on the river. We just started magnet fishing, my stepdaughter wanted to fish off their dock. The scenery is beautiful. My husband had a cheeseburger, he said it was good. My stepdaughter had fish & chips, which were great. I had the fish tacos & they accomodated my dairy allergy. My tacos were AMAZING! We will be back.

After a morning of exploring with my husband and our dog, we were super hungry. We needed a place that would accommodate us with our pup. We stumbled upon the Sail Loft. We sat outside and ordered waters, coffee, and food. While we sipped our coffee, an employee that wasn’t even waiting on us brought our pup a doggie dish of ICE water. It was so thoughtful. We are super picky on coffee and they brew theirs just right! We ordered the two taco selections and the two fry choices. We loved the blackened shrimp tacos and both fry styles were great! Our favorite was the old bay seasoned one. We didn’t love the Maui fish tacos, they just weren’t as flavorful. We would highly recommend this restaurant!

Great location on the river, second to none. The service was really slow on what seemed like a not so busy night. Pretty average food all the way around. I had a burger, which was good but did not wow. My wife had a chicken sandwich and felt the same. Great atmosphere if you can sit outside, but overall an average experience.

Usually I LOVE eating at this place, but the service we got the last time I came here, shows that there needs major improvement. After walking the river walk, we ordered 2 of the Shrimp appetizers, I can’t remember what it was called, which is usually $6, but $10 this time around. No biggie. Our waiter was very rude, he didn’t bring us waters, silverware, straws OR napkins until after we were done eating. We had to ask someone else for straws, and were eating with our hands the whole time. It was pretty disappointing compared to the service we usually get, especially since it was my birthday.

We ordered chicken wings, crab cakes, cheeseburger and key lime pie. Everything was good. However, my friend from Maryland passed on the crab cakes based on the visual.

My wife and I came here because of the great reviews online. We had to see what all of the fuss was about. The staff was friendly. Are waiters name was Daniel, and he was very pleasant, fast, friendly and knowledgeable of the various dishes. We sat on the patio under a shade. Excellent food and service with a great view even in the winter. Our server was attentive and helpful (we are picky eaters and had many questions and requests) and she even asked the chef to recommend a different sauce for my crab cakes since I didn't want what was offered. We had an enjoyable dinner and topped it off with the homemade from scratch key lime pie for dessert. If it wasn't so cold outside, we would have taken a walk along the river afterwards. There were people fishing and a little free library right outside the restaurant. Guess we'll have to come back in Spring!

We went on a trivia night so I may need to try this place again to get the true impression of their service. I was not impressed with the food. The small plates are what we had to choose from for the appetizers. They were fine, but not impressive. I had the Cajun Chicken Pasta as my entry and am not picky about my pasta, but this was pretty bland and the sauce was very watery. Could've used more peppers or vegetables or something. The other three people I ate with also didn't love their meals. I may go back again for happy hour, but I'll pass on dinner here in the future.

Went for my birthday dinner with my parents and had an awesome time. The lighting is soft and the large windows allow a beautiful view along the river. The food was incredible: the pork was cooked perfectly and very moist which went great with the creamy mushroom sauce. Also, we unanimously agreed we had just enjoyed the best brussel sprouts we ever had. A perfect way to spend a birthday or any other day of the year for a great meal.

We stopped at Sail Loft to pickup a gift card as part of wedding gift to places around Milwaukee. It is tucked in behind Sumerfest grounds right next to the Hoan bridge. We had a couple drinks and enjoyed the view. The only downfall is if the wind is out of the south you get a strong smell from Jones island treatment plant.

After a long day of traveling, my in-laws took me to Sail Loft. I was more than impressed by the customer service as soon as we walked in. Our server, Macaire, was friendly and very attentive. I ordered the blackened mahi-mahi street tacos and french fries *chefs kiss!* the fish was grilled to perfection, the tacos oozed flavor, and the fries were perfectly crispy and seasoned. What a pleasant surprise Sail Loft was, and I will definitely be returning.

Later March on a Sunday later morning we walked to sail Loft from the close by state park on Lake Michigan. Beautiful day. Few were there for brunch that day. Our waitress quickly found us a sunny table with view of the harbor. Lobster bisque soup was the best for colder day today. My wife had excellent smoked salmon Benedict and I had the lobster roll. All were delicious and plenty today. Waitress was busy keeping our glasses full. Coffee was very good. The view is beautiful here. It's sooooooooooooo fun and picturesque to sit by the water with views without having to pay so much for it all. Later, we walked up the river walk that went much further than we had wanted to walk that day. We'll be back this summer when the patio is open. I can see where you might want to plan your visit here. This location is exceptional. Probably gets crazy busy at rush. Next time we're for sure trying their fresh carrot cake! Thank you Sail Loft for such a nice time !

A casual spot sort of hidden off the edge of the Third Ward. Great views of the water which showed off some of the Port of Milwaukee's many ships. This place is most notable known for their small plates and appetizers which can be very good one night to lukewarm the next. The beer also can vary from room temperature to ice cold. The server I had this time was flirting with me in front of my fiancee and family which was very uncomfortable and unsettling. Her attire was just as uncomfortable as her shorts showed more of her behind than what would be acceptable at any eating establishment. Overall, if your looking for a good place for small plates and appetizers before a show or a night out, this is the place!

I've learned something about myself recently. For me to really enjoy a restaurant. It helps if the restaurant has, good food, a better than average staff and most importantly be located on some body of water. Sail Loft has all of those. The food was above average, the wait staff was..... average and the location on the Milwaukee river is fantastic. Sail Loft is utilizing this location to its fullest. With tables on the dock, near the dock, walking areas near the water, nicely landscaped areas and even a few sets of bags set up to play. It's a cool place with some of the best clam chowder and mahia street tacos I've ever had. I'm going to cautiously give it 5 stars. Mostly because I'm in a good mood from watching and dreaming of owning one of the 40 ' - 60' motor Yachts that cruise by and dock here at dinner. And I hope the one wait staff was just ever so slightly off the night we were there. If it were closer to our home, I could spend a lot of time at Sail Loft in the summer.
