Reviews of Honeypie Cafe
Excellent brunch! Would highly recommend to any one. Cozy, yet stylish interior with breakfast bar as well as a delightful patio in the back. Have been here on multiple occasions and the service has been reliably top notch. I’ve only tried their brunch, but everything I’ve had by them so far has been quite good! Oh and don’t forget to order a slice of pie to go!
Any time I see such stellar reviews as this place has, I always wonder if it's over-hyped when I first visit. Glad to say the raves are well deserved!
Super cute space, we were quickly seated, and our waitress was very attentive and friendly. Very solid drink options to please all tastes. But the food! I've been to Small Pie, so I can attest to their pies being superb. I did not expect their entrees to be as good as they are. The chicken pot pie with biscuit topper shines - you know this kitchen crew knows how to handle their pastry! The sandwiches were also excellent according to my party. Can't wait to go back!
First time here and I will be coming back! Service was decent, not all that great. Our breakfast was fantastic though. I got the Ham Biscuit, I substituted the ham for sausage, and had my eggs over hard instead of sunny. The mornay sauce was phenomenal, but it kept me from being able to eat my biscuit like a sandwich. The sauce made the biscuit soggy so I couldn’t hold it with my hands. Next time I’ll order the mornay sauce on the side but overall it was a great dish! My mom got the French Toast and she said they were delicious. We also got the Two Farm Eggs Anyway. Unfortunately, the roasted potatoes were extremely salty, there was a lot of salt on those and we weren’t able to eat them.
EXCELLENT! From the service all the way to the dessert, this place is just pure excellence. I’m from Texas, and have been looking for some comfort food that reminds me of home, and this place delivered. That’s not to say it’s specifically Southern or anything, but the Honeypie Burger could probably give anyone a nostalgic feeling. The fries are delicious as well. I love that they have vegetarian and vegan options as well. I had some pie for dessert, and it was exceptional. It’s not too sweet which is why it’s so good. I will definitely be returning.
I love this new location! Modern Diner/bookstore atmosphere. All the food was fresh and hot. Don't forget to have a slice of pie!
Entrees shown are the Grilled Cheese and the Short Stout with a salad. Pie is cookies and creme
Best pies in Milwaukee! They’ve also recently started offering their pie classes again and I would highly recommend them! I’ve learned a lot, the instructors are amazing, and I love the treats we get to go home with. You really can’t go wrong with any of the menu items, however the breakfast burrito is my fave.
Love the interior design decor/style! We go the Mac n cheese and fried chicken. Both were super good. The Mac n cheese can be shared between 2-4 people! It’s a lot 😅 …
I ordered the Chicken + biscuit pie as well as cookies n cream and coconut cream pie. The biscuit was actually really good. It was seasoned well, fresh and savory. The pies were ok. I wouldn't get them again but I'd try other flavors my next visit. The prices are way too high for the amount of food I got. Other than that, I had a decent experience my 1st time here.
I had a delightful experience at Honeypie Cafe.
We ordered the Eggs Anyway and Breakfast Buritto along with some mimosas and we were pleasantly surprised with how big the portion sizes were!
Waiting staff was helpful and friendly. Overall a great experience!
We went just for pie after a disappointing dinner elsewhere and were so glad we did. Great pies, wonderful setting and really courteous service. Go and enjoy.
One of the best meals we have had in a long time. Eggs with a beautiful orange gold yolk cooked perfectly. The mushroom risotto was tasty with the blend of flavors including gorgonzola and balsamic reduction. We had the pork fries for an appetizer. The lemonade was refreshing. The cornbread muffins were made with only a hint of sweetness, akin to those i had in the South. The pies were excellent. We tried banana cream, pumpkin spice and one more. My family agreed, "this is our new place for pie!". We ate in the back patio. Soon the main dining room will be open and we cannot wait!
Delicious meal here for lunch! The food was top notch, and you can tell they use high quality ingredients. I got the Crab Salad Roll and it was very refreshing on a hot day. Service was good, and I really liked sitting outside on the back patio. Another interesting quirk was the pies! I did not have any because I was full but they all looked great!
Very kind staff! The food was insanely good and I admire the business practices they have in place to support the needs of their staff and also get locally sourced food. I am very excited to try out the sister locations!
This place is amazing!! Had brunch, coffee, and pie. I wish it was closer to where I live because I would definitely go there frequently. Good portion sizes.
Honeypie is great! This place came highly recommended by one of my coworkers so I had to give it a try. I went on a Sunday morning and waited for about an hour to be seated with my group. The staff was very friendly, and made no mistakes with our order. We waited about 15 minutes for our food, it came out hot and in copious portions. After finishing I just had to try some pie! The chai latte pie was incredible. I will definitely be back to try some more of their delicious pies
Best lunch I've had in a long time. Hostess and our waiter were very friendly and service was prompt. Food exceeded my expectations, and the pie was incredible. The interior is also really well done, you can tell they put some love and $$$ into the remodel. It was pretty pricy for a lunch, but everything was so perfect I'm not mad at it. Keep up the good work!
First time going, we both ordered breakfast casserole, it was delicious. Service was incredibly slow. Our waiter brought coffee in a mug that had lipstick on top of it, we weren’t wearing lipstick. So cleanliness was in question there. Slow service and cleanliness was in question so cannot give it a 5 rating. Food was good.
Very inviting outdoor seating and good service. Interesting variety of pies with flavors like pistachio and neapolitan. I’d love to go back just to try them. Unfortunately their food options are limited for those who do not eat pork. Hopefully they can offer more options or substitutes in the future.
I LOVE the food. I go every single Friday. Best food in the entire city hands down. And look, I’m not mad, I’m still gonna go, but it’s worth commenting on. Sorry, I manage restaurants for a living. I am considering applying because I love and care that much lol.
However I have never been forgotten, made to wait, or served burned food and expected to pay for it from a place I patronize so much. I only take the abuse because the food is to die for but absolutely terrible service. I had a bus girl finish out my table because the server just .. left. I waited 25 mins for a boxed pie. Had drinks forgotten until after I ordered and food arrived. I’ve waited upwards of 30 mins for food in an empty restaurant.
However… GREAT food. I’ll be there taking it again later today lol. I recommend the short rib hash and chicken dinner for sure!
I legit can't believe how delicious the breakfast is here. I got the breakfast casserole... My goodness was it delicious!!! Highly recommend going here. And to top it all off the pies are extraordinary.
Our server was extremely kind and knowledgeable about the menu. She came to check on us like every 5 minutes to see if we needed anything. The food was delicious and the mimosa was delicious as well. I will definitely go back for brunch when I am in town.
I ordered the Cobb Salad, it was delicious!
FYI: They’re asking to walk in wearing a face mask, if for some reason you don’t have one, no worries! Ask if they have one available for you. (That’s what I did).
The new place looks beautiful, modern, and new, of course. The new patio is very nice, but you might notice there are flies here and there. It’s not a big deal, but usually flies can be pretty annoying.
Food here is excellent. My breakfast casserole was very tasty. It was a half hour wait to be seated and when we got on the patio, it was only half full which was odd. Maybe they were short staffed? Food came out fairly quickly. Would come back.
Holy cow! We ended up at Honeypie because we couldn't get seated anywhere else on a Saturday night at 7 pm. We showed up and were seated immediately. I had the seared chicken and my husband had the chicken pot pie. Once the food arrived to our table, the only thing we could talk about was how good it was! This was hands down our favorite meal over the past few years. The fried green tomatoes were so freaking good. There was a sauce over them and they still had an audible crunch even towards the end of my meal. My husband said the biscuit on top of the pot pie was the best he'd ever had. We also ordered the Sangria and Pie Old Fashioned cocktails and both were really good.
On top of that the inside is so cute! Fresh but intimate ambiance at dinner time. Admittedly, the service was a bit slow and the servers weren't as attentive as I would expect but I will gladly put up with that in exchange for a delicious meal. We're already planning our next trip back so we can try the pie!
Cute breakfast, brunch, or lunch restaurant. The decor is cute and the staff polite. Enjoyed everything I tried.
My new favorite restaurant in Milwaukee. I found this place when searching for a farm to table restaurant. I was very impressed with how quickly the food came out and how exceptional the quality was. I had their house burger which may be the best burger I've ever had. I also had a lemonade which was excellent which came with free refills. For dessert I had a slice of pie named Blueberry Dream which probably was the best pie I've ever had. I was thoroughly impressed from beginning to end with everything about this establishment.
Excellent dish presentation with great taste. We came just for the pie, but breakfast was great too. NOTE: eat pie for breakfast, it's so worth it.
Super cute outdoor seating but I’ve ordered for pick up before and the food is always good either way! Adorable menu with a variety of vegan and typical options. Super kind wait staff and the best oat milk chai I’ve had anywhere in Milwaukee.
Excellent fish fry. The batter on the fish is perfectly crispy and the tartar sauce has a great flavor. Fries could be improved, they came out a bit soggy. Crab dip was pretty good. Chai cream pie was a fun novelty but tasted more like pumpkin pie than chai.
Excellent place to go for breakfast. Has a wonderful menu. Food tasted great. I got plenty of food. I didn’t try and come up at their adult drinks look spectacular also. Good neighborhood. Plenty of seating. The outside was marvelous too. And to top it off, great prices!! A wonderful location. Can’t wait to come back.
Their pie is amazing... But if you get it to go there's a 50% chance it will look like this. Still great, still 5 stars... Just upside down.
I really enjoyed the breakfast casserole and rosemary garlic bloody on the patio. Jacquez, our server was wonderful. Thanks for a great start to our Sunday.
We stopped here on a whim and we couldn't have made a better choice! The decor is super cute and fun to look at. The atmosphere of the entire restaurant is really chill and enjoyable. The food is amazing! I got the breakfast casserole and my husband got the honeypie burger... both were so delicious. I could tell the food was fresh and prepared perfectly. I can definitely see us going back to try more. The menu was impressive and made it hard to decide on 1 entrée. This is definitely a place to try if you want to try somewhere new or just have delicious food. The restaurant was super clean and all of the staff was super nice and cheerful.
!! delicious. Flavors were perfectly balanced and god the texture, lightness of the filling was amazing. I'm not a huge fan of pie aside from classics like sweet potato or apple but pies like THIS I can get used to having!
Food was reasonably priced, nice ambience. We ordered coffee and said we wanted cream but never got any, then i ordered a nacho dish that would have been very good if every chip hadn't been coated in a sauce that made them inedibly soggy within a minute of receiving my meal. Might try again sometime but not soon
This place is so good! We had the truffle fries and I tried mushroom sandwich. The service was great as well. Thanks Lyric for making my first experience at the new location amazing!
Went the day after new years, which was a Monday. Coffee was fresh and the bloody mary was flavorful. Really liked the variety of the menu and the interesting combinations. I had the house special omelette and my partner had the short rib hash. Both entrees were full of flavor and came out hot. Only issue was since this was day after new years and a day they are not usually open, they were out of a couple of dishes. Would definitely come back
The pie is enormous and delicious! The aesthetic is worth noting: folksy and a dash of dark academia style. I love the fish fry and the mushroom appetizer.
The best breakfast around. I love all the food in general, but now I've gotten to the point where I'm just checking boxes on the amazing menu. Porkslaw sandwich? Straight FIRE. Braised rib hash? More like super dank hash. A grilled cheese and soup to die for. The Little muffins, sheeeshhhhh. And my baby, the dish I dream about, that breakfast casserole. Never fails and truly is a staple of Milwaukee. If you're around, eat here!
Staff was very friendly and they served great coffee. The short rib hash I had was very flavorful, even though the amount of potatoes in the dish was a bit excessive. Come hungry!
Love the revamp! Bigger yet cozier atmosphere and the food is still amazing as always. Bring back the pulled pork eggs Benedict, please!
I love brunch because I love to sleep in and firmly believe only Satan wants to see the asscrack of dawn. Honeypie lives up to it name by being a seat of decadent and delicious food that far outpaces the surrounding places. Starting with the drinks. I had the Day Slayer: Elijah Craig bourbon, aromatic bitters, Pilcrow Sweet & Creamy. It was like the best Chai tea and my beloved Guinness had a baby. Utterly scrumptious. I had the CHICKEN + WAFFLES:house waffles, fried chicken thighs, hot honey, pickles, sea salt, Aleppo pepper. Instead of going greasy and cloying sweet they took the opposite approach and made it spicy and with salty tang that made u wish for more. Omg everything was done perfect. The servers were impeccable, fast and phenomenal.
Loved honey pie when they were at the other location, love honey pie all the same now. Always friendly staff and delicious food. French toast is always to die for
Food was great, but service was slow. As we waited for a seat, we watched a family wait 20 minutes for their credit card to be charged before they could leave. The chicken biscuit pie was delicious and the pies were great as well. I would recommend stopping as long as it isn’t super busy.
We weren't actually planning on going here at first. We had plans to go elsewhere but they were full, so we looked around and happened on this place, and but am I glad we did. Everything here is amazing! The atmosphere is nice with a friendly staff. And the food is beyond good borderline criminal! If you come here you MUST order one of there pies! I guarantee that they are the best ones you'll have eaten. They also have Trivial Pursuit on every take so you can play at your leisure just for fun. Highly recommend this pace to anyone in the area!
Outstanding brunch today! All food was delicious, served timely and with extraordinary service! We will return the next time we're in MKE!!
Ridiculousness
We were in the Bayview area and decided last minute to go to Honey Pie. We went during the week when they were less busy. There was no wait which was awesome. Walking into Honey Pie you'll see countertop seating options around the bar area, tables booths, and an area where they have their homemade pies on display. The restaurant also has an outside patio area in back that is open when the weather is nice. We have been here a few times and something we like is the menu and pie options change. On to the food. We ordered PORK FRIES: pulled pork, house BBQ sauce, mornay, pickled jalepenos, green onion, bacon, and a sunny egg all on a bed of French fries. The order came out quick, hot, and ready to eat. Man were they delicious, and as an added bonus, it was enough for 4 people to eat. For my meal I jumped right to the pie. Out of the options I went with their TURTLE PIE. It was very good and hit all the sweet flavors. I was very happy with my choice and wanted to take the rest of the pie home to eat for days. Unfortunately the piece I received was the last one of that pie. Shayla ordered the BREAKFAST CASSEROLE: house made biscuit, roasted potatoes, smoked mushrooms, sausage gravy, white cheddar, bacon, topped with a sunny egg. The meal was steaming hot. It was amazing. Everything ingredient in this dish brought together for overall goodness. Ultimately, the food is Ridiculousness (as in amazing) and we highly recommend Honey Pie for food lovers. On the weekends it can be very busy and they sell out of the pie in a few hours. Food service was good and the building has a good historic environment to it. Parking can be tricky and potentially takes a little bit to find (street parking only) but in my opinion its worth it. I can’t wait until we can go again and eat some great tasting food. $$ 5 out of 5 stars.
Great food and service was top notch! the only complaint is who designed the new layout with the bathroom straight across from where the food station is located, about 2 feet away....just gross.
Terrific food! The buttermilk biscuits were some of the best I've ever had. I had a piece of the almond Joy 🥧 pie and it was also very good. The service was attentive and fast. I will go back! …
I LOVE THEIR BISCUITS ANFMD GRAVY! They ate the BEST biscuits and gravy I have had in the city so far!everything is homemade and you can tell! My bro had poached eggs and I had soft scrambled with out meals. Its enough for 2 meals!
A great Milwaukee restaurant! Their prices are very reasonable, and they have a great selection of beers, including some that are hard to find in Wisconsin. I usually go for the burger (minus the egg), the pork slaw sandwich, or the pasty. Make sure you save room for dessert - their pies are amazing! My favorite is the pistachio.
Went for a birthday lunch, the restaurant itself is cute and clean. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful.
They have a few gluten free options, i had the grilled cheese with tomato soup on a gf bun. The side of fruit was amazing, and not the typical selection that most restaurants have.
A little disappointed there wasn't at least one gluten free pie/dessert option. But my friend had a slice of the banana cream pie for his birthday and said it was delicious.
10/10 would recommend, and will definitely return.
This place is amazing! My husband and I have made it a habit to come here for brunch at least once every other weekend. We would eat there every day if we could afford it. It is pricey, but the value of the food is absolutely worth the cost! We tell people to come here all the time; we rant and rave that if you want to treat yourself, this is the best way to do it! Just remember that local farms and well-thought out menus are not forever; Not everything will be in season all the time, so the menu changes, and with it being so delectable items run out as it is first come, first serve. Also, if you want to try their brunch menu, make sure you come after 3:30 PM. Be on the lookout for specials and events, and don't forget a piece of pie!!!!
One of my favorite restaurants. They're a strong proponent of sourcing locally and create incredible dishes! The staff is friendly and efficient and the food is always spectacular.
The pic is of one of my favorite dishes: Pork Fries! French fries with pulled pork, bacon, gruyere sauce, jalapeno slices, and an egg on top!
Come for the incredibly tasty cream pies and breakfast! Always good! However, their Friday Fish not so much. The fish pieces were like thin, salty black shoe leather, fries seemed reheated wimpy day old, cole slaw was just shredded cabbage with no dressing, either vinaigrette or creamy. Even the cornbread did not taste fresh. We didn't finish. Really surprised us! Think we'll just stick with breakfast and dessert, which is consistently on point.
Honeypie has been a fave since its inception. The food, drinks, desserts, and atmosphere have always blended well into an experience worth repeating. Barring a single bartender, service has always been friendly and fast.
Recently tried their seasonal brunch menu, and the pork belly really stood out. Tried the risotto (pictured) and really let the flavours linger. The poached egg acted as an additional sauce, and was a great way to start a Sunday.
Honeypie Cafe is a wonderful place for brunch on a quiet Sunday morning. The menu is creative, the food exquisite and the service excellent. I would highly- recommend the Braised Short-Rib Hash. If you order it, though, be sure to ask for some extra Horseradish Crème. The dish is perfect without it, but with it the dish goes from perfect to divine.
The food here is always on point and the staff is lovely. They switched to a breakfast all day option on the weekend as well! Plus great pies and cupcakes. 😍. Word of warning tho, weekends after usually very busy so you will be waiting for a table. Picture is for the steak benedict. …
Roasted carrot appetizer is the BOMB! I've been thinking about it daily since. Great service, food and value. We will return soon.
Locally sourced ingredients prepared with care. This is one of the best places to eat in Bay View. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive, and the food is out of this world. Highly recommended.
Breakfast for dinner and a thoughtful selection of creative dishes using locally sourced products. It is a quaint little somewhat eclectic spot in a revitalizing section of the metro area.
Great food! Everything is so fresh!
I was blown away by the burger and truffle fries. It's been a long time since I've had something so on point. The brioche bun gave it a nice chewiness, and was complimented by tender meat and melty gooey cheese.
The best part about the experience was the pie though. They have about 15 or so to choose from with pieces disappearing all throughout my dinner. I was worried they wouldn't have any left by the time I finished eating but they kept replenishing the selection. The slice I had was huge and easily could be shared by 2 people. Wonderful flavor and a perfect way to end the meal. Thanks Honeypie.
First visit for us and the food was great. You get your money worth here. The service was very good. I would visit again.
From the pretzels to the mustard to the bar to the truffle fries to the service to the sangria to the short rib sandwich to the 3 pies we tried, the food was wonderful and the people were too.
We went on a Sunday morning and although the wait was long the food was fast. Plenty of options for our vegan/vegetarian/gluten free diets.
Always fantastic and the patio is open. Service is friendly and the food is top notch. Great cocktail menu. oh and the pie..
We were looking for an eatery that offered a variety of foods. We found it! We didn't have room for pie, so we'll be stopping on our way back through
Great bar/restaurant. Stopped in for a couple beers, good selection. Lots of Bourbons too. The staff was really friendly. I didn't get any dessert but they looked great. We got the truffle fries and pretzles which were both awesome!!!
Fantastic flavors of fresh food. Everyone in our party commented on the flavorfully food. The appearance at first glance isn't much, bit the food and service make up for it.
Amazing food and great service!
A very cozy and classic Milwaukee favorite. Hands down best pie in the city but also very delicious food. The burger is top notch!
The service was great and helpful in stating how they could adjust to dietary restrictions. The food was beyond delicious and hit all over my palate. This Foodie is very pleased!
Had brunch ordered from menu. All dishes were very good. Server very friendly. Will try again.
Honeypie has been my favorite Milwaukee brunch spot for at least 6 years now. I'm not sure I've ever strayed from the wonderful concoction that is their breakfast casserole after dining here countless times. Best comfort food! Their new location is much improved and great as well!
Went in to have a quick snack. The place is beautiful. Their listing on Google features a old menu which was disappointing. I wanted to try a delicious dessert but there were just a couple options.
The service was nice. I had a very polite waitress. We decided to try the cornbread and the truffle fries. They came out at a perfect temperature of hot! The food was good. The garlic aioli was really good too!
Check them out!
This place was pretty good. I liked the atmosphere and the staff was awesome but the biscuit was a little dry. I would try it again though!
Went in to get some pie later in the day. There was only one slice of pistachio and a couple coconut. Coconut was average, fries were average. Waitress was very nice and went to get hostess who was ignoring us. I understand it was an hour before close. Maybe the food is better earlier in the day.
Delicious dishes. Friendly staff. Only thing I didn’t like was that it was pretty noisy/hard to have a conversation.
The food is comforting and exceptional. A must try for some great dishes!
Delicious brunch!! I got the short rib hash and it did not disappoint. The mimosa was quite yummy too! My hubby got the pulled ham eggs Benedict and that too was flavorful. They are short staffed so be patient with your sever.
My first visit to this lovely establishment. The decor is comforting. The service and food even better. Our server was Jo. Attentive and great recommendations. Had the braised short rib pot roast, son had the burger. Everything was hot and tasty. The Almond Joy pie was amazing. Will definitely be back! Thank you HoneyPie!
What a great place to celebrate Father’s Day. The brunch menu was fantastic. Our waiter Rolando was extremely helpful in choosing a most delicious item on the menu. The outdoor dining space was quite comfortable. On the way out check out the pies. Yummy!
We were looking for a breakfast spot. I was in the mood for some NEXT level French toast. Because I mean you can get French toast anywhere, right ? Honey Pie Cafe popped up and we decided to give it a try. The asthetic is warm and welcoming. It’s like you’re walking into your grandmothers house getting ready to meet your whole family for brunch. Our server Kiersten P! (Highly recommend) was just so sweet ! She truly takes pride is providing welcoming and attentive service. She gave us some great suggestions for next time. We split the French toast! I wish I had pictures but the food was so good I didn’t even have time to take a photo. We split the French toast got a couple sides and roasted potatoes. Everything was delicious !!!! As we ate more food kept coming out to other tables. It all LOOKED AND SMELLED AMAZING. I almost wanted to finish breakfast and get back in line for lunch time ! 😆 I am 100% a new soon to be regular! This will be our summer breakfast spot as bay view provides the perfect town scenery to walk up and down the strip and enjoy other local bars and shops along with what will soon be outstanding weather. We were extremely happy. I suggest if you want quality food, exceptional service, and to bask in a clean and uniquely designed environment. You should stop in! You won’t regret it!
Amazing food and service. The pork fries are always a great choice
It was yummy food. High quality, the eggs looked like they were farm local. They were put of cold brew by 1pm and we were from out of town so that was disappointing as we were told it's award winning.
Really lovely place. Can't wait to go back and try more of the menu!
The food was so good. The service was fantastic. We stopped for lunch after we got off of the ferry. And we stopped again on our way back to the ferry for another slice of pie.
I love Honeypie! It is my favorite place for brunch in Milwaukee. I love the casual atmosphere and amazing food. The coffee (Anodyne) is amazing and always freshly brewed. My only complaint is that they open too late for breakfast (9am). If they opened earlier, I would go way more often.
Can get very busy, but very friendly. And Sunday's have half-price bottles of wine!
My waffles taste freezer burned. It tasted reheated. The chicken was good but for the price I would expect fresh food.
Outstanding!!! Excellent service!!! Fish Fry was the best I've had in a long time. The restaurant was immaculate. You need to try their own Sangria. I wish they would bottle it!!
Honeypie is alright - small and they don't take reservations. But, if you can score a table - the food is pretty good. We tried the pork fries, grilled cheese with tomatoes soup, and burger. Nice pie selection to boot.
Food tasted fantastic. Great service even when they are pacmed. Best part is that they leave a big pitcher of ice water at the table.
Loved it! Some easily fixed service issues. Serve the plate from the left, never present your elbow to the face of a guest while delivering goods.
Honeypie is fine. The atmosphere is great, the location is great, and the food is... fine. Every time I have eaten here, I come away disappointed that the food didn't live up to its full potential. The seasoning on everything is just a little bland. Honeypie also doesn't take reservations, so if you have a large party, you could be waiting a long time, even if there are other tables they could push together. It's fine.
Very friendly customer service. I ordered the the French toast brioche which was fantastic. To me the menu was limited but I was very satisfied with my meal.
Wife and I stopped in for pie and coffee. Service was great. Atmosphere was nice. The pie was amazing!
Hoople Popple Skillet is to die for. The flavors and the portiok size are just perfect! It was amazing, honestly one of the best skillets I have ever had. 10/10
Really popular place but food was just ok for me. Potatoes over cooked as well as the bacon. Still decent breakfast all in all
Great ambiance. Great food. Great staff.
Update: My boyfriend and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary here. We had our first date at the old location. Waitress Lyric (sp?) was so kind
Always a delight. Amazing food and service. Great atmosphere. 10/10 brunch!
Hip joint with a Midwestern feel. Awesome locally sourced breakfast dishes with a selection of pies for dessert!
Great breakfast. Big enough for two to share. The short rib hash and eggs were terrific!
Love the atmosphere. Been the small pie alot so I wanted to try the sister restaurant
The new location was so nice for date night, even though it isn't entirely finished yet, apparently (supply chain issues for furniture items I guess).
Drinks were awesome. The loaded pork fried were really good but hide the fact that their fries are great. The hot kale salad is noms. So is the pot roast and the mushroom melt.
Get a variety of sauces for their fries! The house ranch and the aoli especially are worth it.
We were so full we couldn't order pie! Gonna have to go back soon!
Amazing food! Fast service from the kitchen! Make sure you get a reservation though, we waited an hour and a half to be seated. Prices are high, but food quality matches. Not that impressed with the bar, but it’s not the reason anyone comes here, so it’s a nice convenience. Best fries ever!!! Really impressed with the food.
The food was delicious. Our server was mediocre and didn't seem to know a lot about the questions we asked of the menu. The burrata was excellent.
Honey pie has the best brunch in Milwaukee hands down and on top of that the wait staff is always the most amazing polite weed staff I've ever encountered. Not just that but the location the new one that is is beautiful and we just love going there anytime we get a chance!
Best pies I’ve had in a very long time
New space, same awesome food. Best brunch in Milwaukee that I've tried. Had the Breakfast Casserole and it was awesome. Everything there is great. The new space looks cool, modern dinner style, but no inside seating at the moment. Patio out back is a really nice space for outdoor dining. If you go there and don't get a pie, it's either because you're insane or just way to full. Highly recommend.
Right now only the patio is open for dining, but they did an amazing job on that patio! Recently got takeout, and tried the patio, but unfortunately it started to sprinkle, so takeout again... Still worth it! I had the braised short rib sandwich one night, and the Iowa Skinny the other, both were fantastic, and didn't have room for my pies, but they were amazing when I found some room. The staff was super accommodating, friendly, and superb under less than unaccommodating weather!
Lovely looking double chocolate pie, which looks like Baker’s Square French Silk pie. Good dessert for Thanksgiving
I had coffee and key lime coconut pie, all good! A relaxing atmosphere.
Freaking phenomenal is all I have to say! 8 people at breakfast and everyone enjoyed their dish!
Got pulled ham, fried egg & morrey on croissant. Was sooo good. Thank You!
Very good food, but it would be great if the service quality matched the prices. My server was nice, but not very experienced. I do plan to return with high expectations.
I love the variety in their menu. We had the pulled pork fries, mussels, and crab dip. They were all amazing! My old fashioned was delish as well. Then we ended the meal with their pies. Wow, they were good…I have been craving their pie since then. We went simple with the chocolate and lemon pies, but they were both perfect. Also, their patio is so cute! Will be going back soon!
The food was delicious as were the pie slices. The company I was with also helped to make the evening enjoyable.
I have never had a bad experience here. The serve THE BEST biscuits and gravy in town - hands down, I mean, besides mine, but I can't hash it out like they can! Their biscuits are huge and the gravy has huge chunks of sausage, always seasoned beautifully. Today, we tried the breakfast casserole and it was like taking biscuits and gravy and elevating it to a new level, kind of like a skillet with gravy. The potatoes were crispy, the biscuit and gravy was plentiful and the egg was poached perfectly. I love this restaurant and would gladly give them my service every day if I could.
Also! Their pork sandwiches (vegan, too) are some of the best I have ever had. I need to order it again soon! I can't wait for their new location to open so we can be able to order all week instead of weekend brunch :)
This place has a lot of hype and some wait time to go along with that. Service is okay, the food was fine tasting but nothing spectacular that would have me come running here again. I got a piece of apple pie to go and it was good, it was pie!
Dined on the patio behind the restaurant. While I haven't been to the original location, this new one is quite beautiful! Ambiance outdoors, especially with all the plants, made it feel alive. Food and service were most excellent. While the bar selections were limited, they were fair and quality accomodations. Cold brew is on point. Get it.
Excellent food and atmosphere. I had shredded pork fries and my wife had breakfast casserole. Will definitely go back if we're in town again.
Pulled pork fries and coconut cream pie were delicious. Will be back.
They moved. Up KK a little. Very nice bar and interior dining but we sat on the back patio. Which was also nice. 8 ft. High fences alli around, lush plants in different configurations, umbrella covered tables. No mosquitos. Except we had to cross Kinnickinnic with no light&I hobbled across with my walking stick.
T had a chicken pot pie. I had a3 mushroom sandwich melt
Both good. I added a side salad w/ green goddess dressing. Yummy. We saved room for pie; blueberry
Jan.6 update. Inside. Wonderful atmosphere until all the booths filled up. Too loud to hold a decent conversation. Another restaurant with too many hard surfaces to bounce sound off, not absorb some. Soft surfaces, fabrics needed.
Food? Wonderful. The fish fry entree was excellent. Crispy coating on haddock, 3 pieces.. Hot fries. Mild slaw. Tasty cornbread muffin.
Mac. & cheese. 4 of us tasted it. About the best we've ever tasted. Very creamy and flavorful.
Honeypie burger. Need a knife& fork to eat. Hubby liked it.
The pies? Outstanding. 4 different flavors. Cherry cheesecake, cookies and cream, bourbon pecan, MKE. Mud. All good in their own way: crusts, fillings, fruit, cream toppings. The best. Took some mud home. Very sweet but chocolaty/fudgy. Will make it a second dessert.
BRUNCH!!!! Absolutely amazing food, from pork fries, French toast, ham sandwich to pies. Must try if you're in this hood
It has very cozy vibes. Definitely the place to eat on a gross winter night. They have a wide range of cool drinks and they have an extensive dinner menu with very large servings. The staff was very courteous and friendly. Overall a very nice time.
The care they put into their food is clear! It’s so fresh and rich. The pies are outstanding!
Great food and excellent pie. Our server was super friendly. Had great service all around.
Chelsea made me an outstanding Brandy Old Fashioned Sweet. The pork slaw was a little weird. I loved the pistachio pie, however, fantastic!
The breakfast is great and the service is the best.
Excellent food. Quiet charm. The best darn pies in the city
Food was great. Our server this evening was fantastic. This was my first time visiting the new location. Bigger location will be nice once the weather is warmer to check out the pet friendly patio. As always, i love this place.
Amazing food! Excellent staff. Way too big of portions….
Good menu choices from basic to adventurous. Awesome pies!
Easily the best brunch spot in Milwaukee. Their various takes on eggs benedict have all been incredible--the scallop dish in particular is my favorite. They're always making something new and after many visits, I've never had anything bad. Their bloody mary's and breakfast cocktails are wonderful. After you're probably to full to eat any more, be sure to get a piece of pie to go (no wrong choice here).
My favorite place to go to in Bay View. Great food and the pies rock!
Wonderful food and fantastic service. Can’t wait to come here again!
Worth the wait. Biscuits and gravy were divine, and brioche french toast was decadent.
What happened Honeypie? Your food was always exceptional. Hadn’t gone in years between the new location and the pandemic so I was excited to return. New location looks nice but the food went down the drain. Are you having trouble hiring decent cooks? I want to hope it’s a temporary thing with the insanity of post pandemic difficulties but I had a quinoa burger that was so soggy they should have named it a sloppy joe. The tomato soup was meh and my spouses coleslaw he couldn’t even eat he said it was so tasteless. Please Honeypie, find your way back to the lovely restaurant you once were with the exceptional food and delicious menu.
High calorie greasy American food in meat pie style. Delicious.
Solid 5 stars. We had been to Honey Pie's previous location and it was a solid 5 then too. Nothing has changed for the worse at the new location as far as food and service. The interior dining area isn't open yet and they have everyone dining on their back patio, which has plenty of table umbrellas. We went to Sunday brunch on Independence Day and there was a 25 -35 minute wait for a table. Well worth the wait.
I had the Schnitzel Benedict- It was large, not pounded too thin, perfectly cooked and the sauce and garnishes brought the brunch flavor to the dish. And of course the egg was cooked the way I had asked - sunny side up. I had the bloody marry infused with garlic and rosemary- it was good. Not the best in MKE, but good.
My wife had the brunch cassarole. Neat dish that incorporated a bunch of North American breakfast items - perfectly melded together. Not mushy, not dry and it was a large portion of food.
There is no kids menu so we ordered a couple of sides for our kids. The pricing worked out to be similar to what the cost would have been if there actually was a kids menu. Sort of works out nice because either made it easier to mix and match. My daughter's pulled pork side was larger than. We expected and was fantastic.
Top notch service. Smiles and friendliness from everyone even in the noon heat. We are looking forward to dining there again soon.
Dear god this was fantastic. Breakfast casserole, corn muffin, and key lime pie and everything is perfect. Go on an empty stomach.
The new outdoor seating was nice. The service was good. The food was good. I would give five stars, however, the first four items we wanted to order they were out of which was disappointing. I overhead the same from other tables. Evidently, the brunch rush had wiped them out.
We were a table of three and were seated after a short wait (brunch time). We all enjoyed our entrees and coffee, then shared a piece of their blueberry lemonade pie, which was marvelous! Don't skip the pie!
Love this place! All of their food is amazing, their dishes seem to keep it simple as far as the prep goes because they want you to taste the food, but it's out of this world! Brunch, dinner, pies and craft cocktails, you'll probably be taking a box home since the portions always seem larger than you think and if you're sitting in view of the pie case you'll be taking a piece of that home with you too! Wait staff is super friendly too and food comes out promptly even if.the restaurant is full!
The food was good and the staff were friendly. We ended up waiting for a bit on our food and eventually had to leave to catch the ferry. Asked them to just pack it up for us to go. They didn't pack utensils or napkins. Bummer oversight. Drinks were good.
I respect and admire the amount of natural ingredients used in their dishes. The restaurant is pretty historic looking and has nice staff. It’s small and cozy. For the prices, I didn’t find the food to be that impressive. I’ve eaten there 3x now and each time I am looking for something on the menu that I really like. Their pies are good! The menu items do not really impress me. My friend got a burger and I ordered a paste. He had so much more food than me that it was almost a shame. Most everyone likes it here and I do as well. I’ll keep coming back until I find that dish that I really love.
I ordered the House Burger sandwich, medium well and it was very greasy the sandwich was literally dripping. I didn't like that. On the other side the sandwich tasted good. Also their fries was not the best and kinda overcooked. On the other side, the whole experience was good. The service is good and fast. However, I sat outside and I think they can do better job with cleanness and hygiene. There was this pipe that was dripping on the floor at the patio door and you could smell garbage smell outside too. Maybe I visited on a bad day. I'll give it another chance.
Great local place for homemade pie, the regular food is pretty great too, I got the jackfruit sandwich and it was really quite a fun sandwich.
The mushroom risotto was soo good. I also really enjoyed the Sconniemosa. It sounds gimmick-y but is delicious and pretty.
The decor is still under construction but you can tell it's going to be cute and quaint. It was a little frustrating they were out of some of the main entrees and specials. But good food goes fast.
My husband and I used Honeypie Bakery for our wedding pies this past weekend. Not only are their pies phenomenal, but the staff helping to coordinate our pies were incredibly helpful and so kind! After trying many of their pies, we decided on four flavors to serve at our wedding, although they were not able to deliver to our venue because it was not in the vicinity they deliver to, they were super helpful in recommending delivery services. Although we ended up finding someone we knew who was able to pick up and deliver our pies to our venue, we really appreciated the assistance from the bakeshop managers who worked on helping us figure out delivery if needed. We will definitely be buying pies from here again, and recommend them to anyone else who wishes to have pies at there events! It is also an additional perk that we were able to help out a local business especially during these crazy times! Thank you again so very much for helping making our day that much more special!
Pie, pie, Pie! Oh, and you can enjoy brunch, dinner and breakfast, and then more pie. Did I mention the pie, honey?
Unbelievable pies amazing... Pricy.. Yes... Worth it. Absolutely. Gotta check it out
Honeypie's new space is absolutely wonderful- they have a great outdoor patio with plenty of seating, and a gorgeous indoor area that will be jam packed when that opens up again. The food was just as good as it has always been, and surprisingly cheap-six adults and a kiddo plus drinks was only $115. Also, they open early so you can beat the normal Bayview brunch crowd.
Such a professional place, the food was spot on! We had two waitress both were super sweet. Definitely will be coming in again!
My husband and I had brunch today, our first visit to Honeypie. The pulled ham biscuit was very good, with really tender meat, two cheeses and a fresh egg. My husband had the hearty portion of biscuits and gravy. He said it was tasty but would have liked more meat in the gravy. Good coffee, good service and nice atmosphere. We'll be returning to try some pie next time.
I just moved to Milwaukee Bayview, just finished unpacking while juggling work.
I was sick of eating quick meals I got used to, so I ordered here.
Swift and speedy service, awesome cashier.
And this had to be one of the best burgers I have ever eaten with fries that tasted refreshingly fresh.
Great food, atmosphere, and service!!
This was our second time at honeypie, and the first time since moving locations. Our first trip was breakfast and it was wonderful. Our most recent trip was kind of a bummer. The mussels my husband ordered smelled awful. A few menu options were already sold out. Our drinks weren't very great tasting, which was a letdown because we had come from another establishment with some amazing drink options. I'm not sure I'll be back for a while. The new patio is a nice addition, though.
Honeypie Café: Opened in 2009, the café is nestled in the heart of Bay View on the south side of MKE. The restaurant’s mission is to make Midwestern dishes from scratch using as many local ingredients as possible. Some dudes & I wanted to try Honeypie’s “House Burger” before hitting the Auto Show. The burger is comprised of two ground brisket patties, American cheese, bacon strips, caramelized onions, tomatoes, secret sauce, and an egg all on a brioche bun. I couldn’t even fit my mouth around this messy burger (one of my few complaints)! I had to eat it with a knife & fork (which makes me feel like I’m not eating a burger). Getting my other complaint out of the way, I felt it was pricey at $14. The taste was above your average burger though. The bacon wasn’t too overly cooked & crispy, but perfectly floppy and dripping with fat. I honestly did not detect the onions, but the giant tomato slice, secret sauce, and egg all acted as excellent supporting flavors. The bun was fluffy, flaky, and had a texture that made me think it was toasted. I will have to visit Honeypie again as I was far too full to investigate their muffins/cupcakes & pies (though they looked decadent). I’d recommend trying the scrumptious burger, but I’ll probably just stick to dessert next time as I prefer a burger that can fit into my mouth without having to cut it up. Three star burger, but their pies are five stars, so I’ll take the average of four stars.

The Mac and Cheese was phenomenal. The service was wonderful. Delicious pie.
Burger and fries were great. Service was great. Since it was my first time having pistachio pie, it took a few bites to get used to the taste. But overall it was good. My wife ordered the caramel apple pie and it was amazing.
Alittle pricey but the food and pie were good. Good service!
What an amazing haddock fish fry! The crunchy batter was still crunchy when we got it home! I've had lots of great fish fries, but few that can stand up to today's carryout necessities. Absolutely delicious. Honeypie's french fries are always great, of course; the corn bread muffin was yummy, and the coleslaw very tasty. (The coleslaw needs to be packaged in it's own cup, though.) Highly recommended!
I'm an off-again/on-again Honeypie customer. My wife and I will seemingly go nowhere else for a time, then "forget" about them for a few months.
Very recently, we went for Sunday Brunch that was pretty spectacular. We sat at the bar due to their limited seating, and were taken care of promptly.
Special mention: The wonderful woman behind the bar refused to let my coffee mug go empty!
The food here is always great. Most everything is locally sourced. The portions are generous, this is not a tapas experience. This is home cooking with a touch of class.
Also worth special mention are their baked goods. Their pies are terrific, and their cupcakes are something else. Both highly recommended.
Both the chicken pie and ham hand pie are worth a taste. They had the best pistachio pie I've ever experienced. Service was fast on a Tuesday night, and it was a great quiet atmosphere where it was easy to enjoy both food and conversation. I've also taken large groups there for breakfast in the summer with great results
This is my favorite restaurant, no matter what they never let me down, always a great experience. I love the people that I meet, and talk to.
Amazing! In the words of my mom, "Everything was excellent!" This was my first time here, but it won't be my last. Delicious!!!
First time here tonight. Group of four of us and we ALL thoroughly enjoyed our food. Everything tasted great, was cooked perfectly and came out pretty quick for being a Friday night. Waitress was also very attentive.
Honeypie was a nice little establishment providing food, drinks, and of course... Pie. Totally worth a treat with family, or a cozy date.
Service was a bit slow, but they were very busy at the time.
We had the pork fries as an appetizer, but honestly they could have served as the meal. The plate was overflowing and by the time my (very late) entree arrived, I was already full.
I think I ordered the special, some sort of steak with asparagus and (more) fries. The steak was cooked just as I instructed and tasted great. But there was very little of it. Maybe 15% of the plate had the steak and 80% was fries...
As for the rest of the 5%, there were wonderfully delicious Brussels sprouts. They were tender, somehow crispy, and buttery. A very pleasant surprise and I wish there were more on my plate. (Did you check the above paragraph? It wasn't a typo, the menu said asparagus and I got Brussels sprouts.)
Tons of pie and cupcake choices, too many to choose from!
I'll go back the next time I'm in Bay View.
Pretty good. I’ve gotten takeout during Covid 3 times and the service and food is slightly different each time. I also went in once before Covid, was pretty busy and we sat at the bar. I would eat here again but it’s not my go to on KK anymore.
They're desserts are ridiculous. This is the type of place that you leave other restaurants to go and get dessert at Honeypie. The Almond Butter Pie was my favorite. All of their cream pies are the bestest! I wish I could give their food 5 stars. I always want to be as excited about their food but they are inconsistent with the same dish. There are a couple things you can't go wrong with like pulled pork but for things that require a bit more skill, I find that their folks on the line simply are inconsistent which is a sign of Quality Control problems. Simply put, if they're people tasted all of their food more regularly they'd be able to pick up on what I have each of the times I've been there. I'll go again for the food. I will enthusiastically go back for the dessert. Atmosphere is totally Bay View 2015. A mix of folks from hipsters to yups and the occasional young family. Every generation would have fun here so don't age discriminate against yourself!
Absolutely perfect poached eggs. Delicious sauce and wonderful service.
Nice patio space that you can exit without going through the building again (makes for an easy departure). The fish fry was delicious. Staff was on top of things and very helpful.
Very cute little restaurant. Everyone was friendly and the atmosphere is great. The food is delicious and so is the pie! Definitely have to get a slice of their pie when you're there. They also have a full service bar if you want a good cocktail or drink. Highly recommend going, one of the top spots in Bayview!
What a great place to eat! We picked this place at random from a Google search during a visit to the area. The restaurant is small but operates smoothly. The staff is polite and efficient. There's a small but eclectic menu with lots of choices and then...there's the pie. I don't eat a lot of pie but the black bottom banana pie is 👌.
The food quality is significantly better than you'll find at a chain restaurant and it's absolutely worth it.
I'd eat here regularly if I lived in the area!
Came here my first time in Milwaukee and the food was superb. Service was also great. Our waitress Taylor was very kind, attentive and acommodating. The majority of ingredients are locally sourced so if you want a great meal with great service that impacts the local community, stop by.
Spectacular baked goods! Small restaurant and bar in a pleasant, charismatic atmosphere. The menu looks amazing, unfortunately I didn't eat there this visit. I was in the market for tasty and attractive birthday goodies, which I readily found. However, this location isn't where you go if you want whole cakes and pies. Their other location supplies the baked goods but you can order in advance and pick up here. I'm looking forward to my next visit when I'll make time to eat, have a drink and enjoy a dessert!
Delicious food and good atmosphere. I went there for dinner and shared the pork fries as an app and got the honey pie burger. It seems like more of a breakfast/brunch place as it was a bit empty for a friday night, and they serve breakfast all day, but the dinner experience was great.
We recently ordered pies from here for my bridal Luncheon. Hands down the best pie that I have ever had in my life. The crust was so buttery and delicious and the fillings were outstanding!! I was able to bring home the remaining pie pieces and have been eating them for breakfast and when I get home from work. I can't seem to stop! You have made me a pie addict.
Went on a Sunday for brunch. Had to wait about 20-30 minutes but the food and service is worth the wait. We sat at the bar and the bartender couldn't be nicer. Amazing food, I got the breakfast lasagna and I tried the french toast. The price was reasonable and the food was seriously great. Can't wait to go back to Milwaukee and have it again
Nice beer selection, both on tap and bottled. Tasty variation on a burger, great meatloaf sandwich and vegetarian options. Don't miss out on their pies. The meal alone is enough, so they expect you'll be carrying out your pie. 6 to 8 choices of pies, all good.
OH MY GAWD WAS THE WAIT WORTH IT! if i’m ever in town again i will 100% visit again!
Never had a Bad experience here! We used to go here once a month or more! Always had great high quality dinners and craft cocktails. Tonight was another story. Food was very bland, the meal just felt Cheap! My seafood entree was alright.....quality seafood, but the execution was Way off.
Very sad to say this place had lost its luster!
Went on a Monday night, so it wasn't as crowded as a lot of the reviews are saying. Sat comfortable at the bar and the bartender (Rob) was seriously awesome. Great service, fun to talk to, and made me an awesome drink that was completely unique. I doubt I will be able to get it anywhere else. The menu was small and yeah a little more than what I wanted to pay on a Monday night but the meal was great. So you get what you pay for. Clearly a lot of people come in just for the pie so we will have to go back there for that.
Fantastic pies. Lemon Cream Icebox… tart lemon, great cream and buttery graham crust. Apple pie has awesome apples: not mushy, perfectly tart. Milwaukee Mud is wonderful. Best is the Oreo Cookies n Cream. Best I've ever had!
Delicious (and beautifully presented) eats - can't wait to go back🙂 …
Delicious pie and cupcakes. Not a cheap dessert, but worth it and the servings are huge. Very sharable.
Also has regular comfort fare. Locally sourced where possible. I recommend the corn muffins and creamy mushroom soup
What a great stop for our Sunday brunch! The place was packed, we got seated in less than a half hour! The service was excellent!!! Their food was delicious, it wasn't the norm of choices, that's a plus. There were enough side dishes if you wanted to add something or go off the menu. My friend is a vegetarian so they made her meal minus the meat (very much appreciated). I loved that the vendors are good ole home grown Wisconsin farmers! I will definitely go again!!!
The pros: great tasting food. Unique menu.
The cons: mediocre service. Overpriced.
The story: Had a late lunch here about 3pm. They were still very busy, and we waited at least 10 minutes to be seated, despite there being 4 open tables. After we were seated it took awhile to get water and our order taken. I had the brisket hash and my date had some truffle fries. The kitchen turnef out dinner very promptly. Both meals tasted great! The fries were soft, so if you're the crunchy fry lover type, these weren't it. But the flavor was there. We finished with sharing a slice of peach pie (they were out of our first choice) a la mode. It was awesome! However the price for a single scoop of ice cream was a $3 upcharge. I was going to pay by card, but our server took so long to get us the check in the first place, that I just paid cash and walked out. If I go back, it will be only for the pie.
The food was amazing! I had the grilled cheese sandwich, the cheese was aged 3 years & was absolutely stupendous. My close friends ordered the "burger slam" which was perfect & the honey pie burger which they also liked very much. We ordered corn muffins as an appetizer & they were superb!
The waitress, Lily was so kind & a great waitress. We enjoyed her patience & advice for what to order.
The restrooms where all gender non-conforming & it was very nice to see! I felt very respected at the resturaunt.
Overall, the food was amazing & a must go to resturaunt in Milwaukee! Some of the money even goes to a womans shelter!
Really like that everything is fresh and made to order, you can tell the difference. Their corn muffins are so good, the pork fries are delicious and I also really liked the pretzel. They also have good coffee and bakery. Still a lot for me to try on the menu.
Delicious food, great service, cozy little place! Highly recommend!
I've been here quite a few times - it's good but I've never been overwhelmingly impressed. My experience today, however, has encouraged me to write this review.
Our waitress dropped my spoon, which is not a big deal, but she forgot to bring me a new one. Once she remembered 15 minutes later, she pulled the spoon out of her back pants pocket....so rather than eat my soup with a butt spoon, I used a fork.
The food is your average Bay View fare - as good as anything else you'll find in the neighborhood, minus the fact that my grilled cheese was more bread than cheese, and one of the cheese pieces was actually the wax rind (gross).
When you come to Wisconsin, you have to eat cheese. Honeypie presents a study in grilled cheese sandwich. Paired with creamy tomato soup and fries or salad, and washed down with a cold one, it just can’t be beat. The pies are pretty awesome too.
Great food, love the decor! A must try!
Quality of the food is excellent, but $14 for a bowl of soup and a corn muffin is ridiculous. Pie is exceptional, but be prepared for $7 a generous slice. Even has a nice little outdoor area vs. a very dark interior. So high quality food, but consider your bottom line before purchasing. Too much good food in the area for these prices.
Food was delicious! The pies looked amazing, though we didn't have any. Will need to try the pies next time!
Came down to Milwaukee for a day trip last Saturday and needed something to eat. My girlfriend mentioned this place had good pies and that was all I needed to be told. The cafe itself is in a little store front next to a bunch of other stores. You park on the street in the area pretty easily. The cafe has a decent number of seats and we were greeted and told to take a seat anywhere when we arrived.
Food- I had the Porkslaw BBQ sandwich with fries and my girlfriend got the beer cheese soup with some muffins. The BBQ sandwich was perfect! The brioche bun was soft and just the perfect texture for a BBQ sandwich without being too hard or getting too soft with the sauce on the sandwich. The fries were salty, handcut with the skin on, and damn near some of the best fries I have ever had. I only had a few bites of the beer cheese soup and muffins but I definitely will order them next time I am in town because they were awesome as well.
Drinks- They have a large selection and full bar for drinks. Lots of specialty cocktails to order. I didn't have anything but water to drink but the selection looked good.
Pie- I am making the pie its own separate thing because it was so freaking amazing. We had Salted Caramel and Banana Cream pie. Everything about them was perfect. The crust of the pies is so buttery and the perfect mix of salty/sweet that every pie needs. The filling was amazing on both pies. I want to try every single pie they have.
Service- Service was good. We had our order taken quickly and never had to wait much for anything. Food came out quickly and so did the pies.
If you need a great place to sit and chill while eating amazing food and super amazing pies, definitely make this a place you check out.
Excellent food! Worth the money and delicious. Highly recommended to anyone passing through Bayview. The remodel of the cafe itself also looks amazing.
Went for Saturday brunch around 11 A.M. Extremely long wait (about an hour) to be seated, but the food was surprisingly worth it. Atmosphere was very comfortable and casual, good was tasty and decently priced. In all, great experience, just wish we would have come at a less busy time.
Honeypie was stop number two in our quest for last minute no reservation Saturday evening dinner. With only a 15 minute wait predicted for a table of 4, we slid up to the bar for a few brews before our table opened up. They have a decent selection of craft beers available, and I was easily able to find something I liked. The bar staff was friendly and helpful and brought us our tab when he let us know our table was ready.
Once seated it took some time for our server to return ready to take our orders. The venue didn't seem to be overly busy, and there seemed to be a reasonable staff level for the size of the place. My beer ran empty after we placed our dinner orders, and I had to work to flag down our server to get another. The server returned a while later and quickly placed my beer by someone else at the table and ran off. There were several times that we had to seek out service, and whenever she would bring something she would drop it at the end of the table without stopping or acknowledging us.
The food was delicious. I had the Porkslaw which was a perfectly sized portion of a pulled pork sandwich smothered in coleslaw with just the right amount of fries. Others at the table fully enjoyed their meals as well and left satisfied.
The place is quite small with not a whole lot of tables, so I am sure this place can get very busy and wait times might get long. The bathrooms were neat and clean, but I am never a fan of 1 stall restrooms.
I hate for one server to ruin a review of a good restaurant, but service is important. I must say, this place has great potential. I will certainly return and hope to have an even better experience so that I can bump it up to a 4 star.
Good food and service. There is a limited menu, but the quality was noticable. I could tell we had free range eggs because of the bright orange yolk.
Every time I come here, I have the best Mac and cheese in town. It's unbelievable! I've never taken someone here who didn't LOVE what they ordered. The pretzels are great as an appetizer. The staff is prompt and friendly. The cupcakes and pies are a MUST!
If I had to title my review, I would do so as, "Eh"
While the pies were delicious, I have had better. The reason for my 3 star review is two-fold. Customer Service, and Price. $15.00 for two pieces of pie is on the high side. They were not large pieces either.
Next, we went during the pandemic to support local businesses. When we got to the door, it was locked and then we found some ill-placed sign stating carryout only... call ahead and whatnot. When we called to place the order, we were given the $15.00+ total and gave a card over the phone. After processing, I was asked if I wanted to add a tip. I know these are strange times and usually you simply write your gratuity on the receipt. The question, the way it was asked, put me off and I said no. It's not like we dined in or anything, and again the prices were high. After I declined to leave a tip, I had attempted to ask for utensils, but the staff had hung up. When we were handed our pies through a partially opened door, we asked if there were utensils in the bag, there were not. The staff came back to the door and handed us the utensils and napkins, and didn't say anything. Not even a thank you. While one could argue they went above and beyond and gave napkins, they lacked in everything else. Will I go there again? No.
Only had coffee and pie to go, but based on that I would love to come back again and try more of the food! We got sweet cream nitro cold brew (I think?) and it was phenomenal! We took raspberry and the coconut key lime pies to go. They were $6 and $7 each, and even as a Chicagoan I thought that was expensive, but they were absolutely delicious.
Come for the pies, stay for the amazing brunch. I had a seasonal scramble with creamy leeks, roasted mushrooms, cheese, with a side of roasted potatoes. Everything was perfectly cooked and flavorful, and the potatoes were gorgeously crisp with a soft center. You can get a generous slice of pie for $6 (enough to share between two), and the flavors are spot-on. My only wish is that there was clear signage on the pies-- most of them are not labeled, so you have to flag down a server. During Sunday brunch, expect a wait.
excellent good and service. they're in the middle of construction so you can eat on the patio or take to go. but the food continues to be great.
My husband and I took his parents to Honeypie for lunch. The staff was very friendly, service great and food fantastic. Three of us had the burger and mom had the chicken salad sandwich. Dad said it was the best burger he has ever tasted.. considering he will be 90 soon.. that is a great compliment! Fries tasty and chicken salad sandwich looked good. Only wish we had room for dessert!
Generally awesome food, always great pie and drinks. The bartenders are the best. The wait staff is usually on point but sometimes there is one inattentive waiter. I've only had one or two misses meal-wise out of the dozens of times I've been there. By all means, if you see salted honey pie in the dessert case, GET IT.
It’s been a few years since we’ve been to Honeypie, so when we had some out of town guests who wanted to check it out for brunch, I was pleasantly surprised to find it was better than I remembered! Honeypie is a Bay View staple, however in the past I have felt like it was a little overrated…always a long wait with no option to make a reservation, a little pricey for what you get, etc…but this visit has me wanting to go back soon!
We signed up on their waitlist after walking in around 11AM on a Saturday, and we were told about 25 minutes. Our wait time was accurate, and they now have a system to text you when your table is ready, as well as an online wait list you can view. Much better than the old way of the paper list sign-up and trying to squish your party near the bar to get a Bloody Mary while you wait. We ended up on the patio, which was perfect for a nice summer day and a great atmosphere.
I started off with the Bloody Mary with jalapeno-infused vodka which was excellent. The pickled jalapenos were a nice touch and the Bloody was the perfect amount of jalapeno without being super spicy. I ordered the Ham Biscuit plus a side of potatoes, my significant other chose the Breakfast Casserole, and our dining companions went with the Biscuits and Gravy. All of the food was excellent – everyone enjoyed their meals. I really didn’t need the side of potatoes as the biscuit was so big, but the potatoes were great. I could go on about the biscuit though – probably the best biscuit I’ve ever had. So. Delicious. Flaky, buttery, perfectly cooked, and nicely balanced with the ham and cheese. I want to go back soon just to order it again. I tried some of the Breakfast Casserole as well, which was also delicious, if a little on the salty side.
We had a great brunch at Honeypie, and the next time we have an excuse to get brunch, I will definitely be voting we return! The service was good, and the atmosphere was great – and the improved wait time/system was a huge plus. I’ll be dreaming of that biscuit in the meantime!
What's not to love? The place is adorned with historic maps, signs and other interesting touches. Looks like an original bar. Their food is excellent. The chef pumps out inspired non-traditional combinations for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Take one look at the menu to see the elevated flavor profiles. They regularly have over 12 pies on the board by the slice. I'll come back here again and again.
After reading the reviews I was expecting much more. Food was meh and prices were high especially for a city like Milwaukee. Burger was ok and the pulled pork was average. The hand-cut fries were overly salty. We couldn’t leave without trying the pie which was probably the only reason to go there. Pie was good but not worth going out of your way.
Amazing new location, especially the patio. Food is always great and the staff is top notch. Pie is so good they may run out!
Today my fiance and I went to spend a quick lunch together while our daughter was at school. Our waiter was terrible. The reason I gave it three is because their food is really good. I'm pregnant so I can't eat undercooked meat. I ordered the burger well done, it came out medium. The waiter did not check on us once to see how our food was or if we needed anything. I sat without a fork or napkins the entire time until I went to the bar to grab cocktail napkins with a burger I had to pick all the red meat out of with my fingers because it was undercooked. The cornbread muffins are amazing and besides having to take the time to dissect the burger to be able to eat it, the flavor of that was good also. By the time i got done picking the undercooked meat out I ended up with about half a burger to eat. Service 1 star, food 5 star flavor...equals a 3 in my book and I still think a 3 is a little high for my experience.
Nice little spot, the place looks brand new, so great renovation work was done, the food tasted great, I had the Benedict and there was soo much ham on it it was crazy, i almost couldn't finish it, I also had the side of potatoes and they were great!
Pricey but the food and pie is phenomenal. Well worth it.
Great place. The food was delicious and it was a really great atmosphere.
Very good lunch for my 2 daughters & I! And the PIE is a "must have".
DELICIOUS and so many to choose from...
Excellent food and great service. Make sure to get a dessert, even if its to take home for later. I got the biscuts and gravy which are fantastic. My fiancee got the fruit bowl and she commented that often its mostly melon but this one had a lot of berries and everything was delicious. Highly reccomended. The only potential drawback is that due to their popularity you might have to wait a biy for a table.
Tried 3 entrees and 2 different kinds of pie. Everything was good. The honey pie was interesting but I couldn't eat a whole piece. The pecan pie on the other hand was wonderful.
Not going to win a Michelin star, but I have nothing bad to say.
The outside courtyard in the back was really nice.
Good food and great pie.
Best burger and Best service in town. My wife and I recently moved to Milwaukee and this is by far the best service we have ever received. The host sat us immediately with great enthusiasm and Jenna W. was an incredible waitress. When my wife and I go out it's often tricky because of allergies to eggs and nuts but she was so understanding and thoroughly checked every item for the omission of these ingredients. It was incredibly refreshing to have someone show genuine concern for us having a pleasant meal despite our tricky requests. We had the burger and and it was amazing. Our drinks were superb. We will be back and I hope the rest of Milwaukee will support this restaurant as well.
I was lusting for some midwest eats after 4 months in Santa Fe. Ordered their Chicken Pot Pie and it was delicious! My son had the jackfruit sandwich (vegetarian) and said that it was great too. We each had a slice of pie, outstanding!
I like good food and service, since I consider myself as a foodie.I was not satisfied with the dry brisket but to be fair the Brussel salad and mashed butter squash was pretty good. The pork fries and the soup of the day were both tasty. The Service was great at first but towards end service declined during dinner. My cousin waved to get there attention failed/Ingored had to resort to raising his voice for our check then the waitress came around and made such a rude comment “so in a rush and they don’t have their money ready. 3 stars for the food.
I'm not even sure what to say other than HOTDAMN! Stumbled upon this place on my way to eat somewhere else. I'm so glad I decided to try it. Everything I ate was delicious (house-made pretzel, city lights IPA, seared scallops, and of course chocolate mint pie) and everything other tables ordered looked delicious. Service was wonderful and server delivered one of the best high 5s a person could want.
Yes, I said high 5.
Just went for a slice of pie with the boo for an after dinner dessert. Great enthusiastic staff, felt so welcomed in such a chill retro atmosphere. The pie was excellent! A little pricey in my opinion.. I only say that because I can make a homemade pie for the same price as their single slice.. and it's just as good! Still... it was great experience, well recommended!
First restaurant I visited upon moving to Bayview, and I was hooked. Meals can get expensive for a single person, especially if you're staying for dessert, but the quality is through the roof. The Chicken Biscuit Pie is great winter eating.
So glad when I see more vegan items on the menu. I’ll have to try the jackfruit next time! I loved the breakfast all day option too. The location is awesome, waitress was very kind. Will be back.
The coconut pie....amazing! Rich and creamy with crispy pieces of toasted coconut and perfect whipped cream. I ended up buying a whole pie to share at work. Worth every penny.
The food will not disappoint. I love the burger, the mac&cheese is dangerously good. Pretty much anything you pick will be amazing. And they have cupcakes on display, how can you not love this place?
Food was very good. So disappointed in the service. We were there after breakfast rush and before lunch. Took 10 minutes to have a waitress come to our table. Another 10 to get our drinks and order. And then almost 30 minutes for our easy sandwiches. No returns to table.for ice tea refills, etc. This is a fun, funky, trendy layed-back place but service shouldn't suffer. We ran out of time to get pie.
Small, but filled with charm. Everything tasted amazing. Had a Wisconsin Old Fashioned (a little sweet for my taste, but still very good), Mac and Cheese entree, and shared a slice of pie (amazing chocolate pie with an oreo crust) with my wife. Everything was prepared in a timely manner and all the employees were friendly and informative. I believe it is all scratch made and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a laid back, but intimate meal. Also the old Trivial Pursuit cards at the table were a great addition! Gave us a reason to keep our phones away and stay engaged.
Fantastic! Fresh food and great service.
I order pies from them for my wedding and they did an AMAZING job. They were definitely quality pies and guests were blown away by how delicious they were! Honeypie had everything prepared and ready for me exactly when they said they would and one or two of the pies had just come out of the oven when I picked them up. I will definitely be back to order more pies from them! Thank you Honeypie, the pies were a hit at my wedding!
Disappointed this time. The risotto came out underdone. We didn't care for the hard rice pieces. The cooks missed that I wanted over-hard eggs and not sunnyside up. The brisket hash was very good. It has a lot of flavor. The bisquits and gravy has LARGE chunks of meat in it. Nothing like the traditional meal. Service was very good.
Well worth the drive out from Waukesha County. Our lamb chops were amazing. Glad we ordered the same thing - too good to share! Service was attentive but not smothering. Pies were delicious. Glad Odd Duck was too busy. Second choice but not second best.
While the service is friendly, the dinner menu is pretty hit-or-miss. The brisket was really a burger (tasted good but wasn't really what I was looking for) though the brie was fantastic. Grilled cheese sandwich missed the mark, but the key lime pie was the best I've ever had.
Lots of different menu items, very good food. The patio is a pleasant place to dine. The staff is wonderful.
They have vegan options! Hooray! Great alcohol selection- points for having St. George's Distillery and Fernet from me. Had eater Sunday brunch and there was no wait. The food was great, coffee was good, service was great. Vegan cherry berry pie for the win!
I have ONLY had their cupcakes (vegan) to go and LOVE THEM!!! Super yummy!! And the staff is very nice and friendly. A few weeks ago a staff member saved my butt by holding a cupcake for me (even though they are not supposed to) for my daughter's birthday!!! SOOOOO HAPPY!!! You should go there and support the restaurant. Like now. No, not later, but NOW!!!
Great little place! If there's a bit of a wait for a table, go to the pastry case and plan your dessert (they don't have dessert menus). The pork belly bagel sandwich and egg scramble are perfect, and paired well with the sconie'mosa.
Go for their Sunday brunch bloody Mary and breakfast casserole. You won't regret it.
I have a tree nut allergy so when I ordered cupcakes to bring into work, they made a note for my order. A few days before I picked them up, I received a phone call so they could tell me there's almond extract in the red velvet cupcakes. It is this kind of customer service that makes me want to come back to Honeypie. Everyone at work loved them too, highly recommended.
I thought that this place makes pies of all kind. Turned out that they make only sweet pies and the rest of the meny is mostly breakfast options.
Sweet pies are not what I would expect, just ok. We took raspberry- cranberry and pumpkin spice.
Also I've tried their casserole, which was ok as well.
The stuff is nice and the ambiance is pretty.
If you want to eat breakfast with many pork options, you will probably like this place. I don't think I will be back, though.
In town. Hungry. Found this place while searching for nearby restaurants. This place is great! Small local restaurant using locally sourced products to create some very good food. The staff is very friendly and enthusiastic about what they are doing. Local beers, local sodas, local ingredients. Everything about this place is what we need more of. So tired of large chains serving reheated junk. Go here. Eat. Have a good time. Talk to the staff there. You won't be disappointed.
What happened to Honey Pie? For 3-4 years it was our favorite go-to restaurant. It was always crowded. We were there recently and it was almost deserted. Some of our food was good, some not so good. Their menu has been reduced and does not match the menu from their website.
Tasty comfort foods, some traditional and some with a creative approach to something original.
I got sausage and gravy biscuits and bacon, followed by banana cream pie. The gravy has a nice kick to it and great flavor. The biscuits were slightly dry, but I'm curious if they relegate the dry ones to the gravy biscuits since the gravy will cover it up. The pie was disappointing but still good. I just thought it would be a little creamier, but regardless, it was good. I also wish the crust was a little better.
Food was delicious. Service was great. Will definitely visit again if I visit Milwaukee again.
Finally got to stop here after hearing about a few years back...what a great place! Food was amazing and the freshness of the ingredients really came through in the flavors. Service was great, atmosphere was quaint and cozy, we'll be back on our next trip to Milwaukee!
GREAT FOOD! The biscuits and gravy breakfast entree is a complete work of art! The flaky, buttery, made from scratch biscuit just melts in your mouth itself! The food once again was a AMAZING!
One opportunity would be the service aspect. We weren't greeted when we arrived and our server's body language was the complete opposite of our meals; cold and dull. Not very engaging and I don't believe smile even once during our encounter....Server working the bar was definitely more engaging...
So overall the food was great, but the service was definitely subpar....
What can I say about Honeypie Cafe. Never disappointed. Always fabulous. Fresh and delicious every time. Fantastic menu items throughout. Pies and cupcakes are some of the best in Midwest. I travel from Chicago to eat here and it is well worth the trip. If you live in Milwaukee, go here. If you don't live in Milwaukee go get in the car and start driving to Honeypie Cafe. You can also mail order pie as well!!!
Nice little place. Very comfortable and welcoming. Went there solely for the fabulous baked goods for a birthday celebration. If you're seeking whole pastries this isn't the correct location but the slices I bought have me totally hooked! Yummy!
The Comet Cafe of the south side. Great American dishes with many vegan options. Great for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. Good ambiance. Great Bayview vibe. Service is hit or miss but generally good.
Great bloody Mary and awesome food. Got lucky, just a short wait. A tad pricey but worth every penny. Garlic rosemary infused bloody definitely tasted like another. For sure going again!
Excellent food, all sourced locally. Tremendous service by happy staff. Everything had was fresh, homemade flavor with a slight twist to the dishes to make it their own. Highly recommend going there extremely hungry because portion sizes are generous. Great ambience as well.
Awesome brunch spot! The pork schnitzel benedict is a terrific and uniquely Milwaukee dish! Terrific service and even better food!
There is nothing that makes your meal any better then a great atmosphere and staff. The food is your basic American feel good food but the pie will blow your mind. I would recommend the Honeypie to everyone and anyone looking for a great meal and a relaxing atmosphere.
Awesome food and a great atmosphere. Staff is very friendly. Our food was delicious. All of the food that I saw being served looked great. Didn't try any dessert but it all looked awesome. Great date restaurant.
Ordered a s'mores pie this week after seeing it featured online. Recommend them highly. I have not eaten their yet, but will for sure. Cool place, nice bar The 3 employees I spoke with were very nice.
Thank you so much for a freaking awesome desert!
Visited for November project summit. Everyone ordered something different and I tried it all. Was not disappointed at all! And our server was incredibly accommodating to our growing group mid-meal, and gave us great recommendations for other places to visit. Would go back again.
I wish I could give more than 5 stars!! My boyfriend and I have been long-time customers at Honey Pie since we moved to Milwaukee and the food and customer service is always exemplary. During this Covid-19 pandemic, we have done our part to support our local restaurants and businesses by implementing curbside pickup and delivery, but honestly they've all fallen short in one way or another - forgotten items, cold food, incorrect orders, poor customer service etc. This morning I decided to order delivery from Honey Pie, and from the second I got on the phone with them to the second I received our order, they went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and satisfied. I shared with the woman that I ordered from on the phone that I was hung over, and we joked about how I needed one of their cream sodas because of that. When the order arrived (which by the way was super fast), she had given me an extra cream soda for free and wrote me the cutest note saying to "feel better". On top of that, our order was 100% correct even with our modifications, and I swear they gave us double the normal amount of food, and it was all hot and delicious as always. It's the little things that make all of the difference, and I truly recommend this place 10000%. Thank you, Honey Pie!
Wait staff was friendly, and guick to take my order. Food was good. I had the burger. It was however very greasy. The bottom bun was soaked with grease. Over all a good place, just police up on a few things. I'd come back and try another dish.
Amazing food. Amazing pies. Amazing service. But brunch wait is looong, so get there right when they open or be prepared to loiter awkwardly since there's no real waiting space. Also, try the salted honey pie. Or the breakfast casserole. You won't be disappointed by either.
Wonderful place to stop in for some delicious local food. Great selection of alcohol and liquors, breakfast all day (plus other options). Very clean establishment with a cozy layout that provides that homie, but yet sophisticated feel. First time ever being here, decided to let the bartender (who was a sweetheart) order me her favoritie. She brought out some DELICIOUS French toast that was filling but not to heavy. Went great with the beers. If you're wondering where to stop this is the spot. If the service and food arent enough for you (They have homemade pie which was raved about by many there)
Best egg buns. Absolutely delicious.
Long wait to sit but only because it's a popular place. I loved the biscuits,my husband did not but he's hard to please being an exec chef (hard to take him anywhere-lol). I brought home leftovers-big portions.
Excellent homemade food and the pie is to die for! Brunch, lunch, and dinner are all great. The food tastes like it is of very high quality. Sometimes, during dinner you may have to wait for a table, but it is well worth it!
Amazing farm to table, Midwest American cuisine. Casual dining with food that tastes like fine dining. Nice selection of craft beer and wine and fresh baked goods. Try the pork fries!
It's usually easy to pass on long waits when there are other options nearby, but something told me to wait it out and I'm glad I did. Our group of 3 finally got in and started off with a Bloody Mary each. It was good but maybe a little plain. I can't tell you how different the house signature is from their "regular" bloody, but they were both decent.
Great dinner style restaurant with go figure tasty pie. The menu is small and thought for me to find something that I want to eat. I just end up eating soup and having pie. Only reason it's not 5 stars is the menu is not always my favorite. Go here it is awesome.
Honey pie was a neat place to visit. My sausage bagel was delicious and very filling. My husband ordered the mushroom scramble and it was very greasy, he only ate about half his meal. I was delighted but he was disappointed.
This place is a true gem. The decor and food are both fantastic. In particular, the ingredient quality is clearly far better than almost any restaurant at this price point. The pie pushes it over the top.
Best place I've eaten over two trips to Milwaukee. Well worth the wait. The Corpse Reviver cocktail was delicious, everyone in our party loved the food, and the desserts looked incredible. Definitely a gem.
Amazing dinner and brunch. Be prepared to wait though as it is popular and they don't take reservations. The pie is amazing! Pro tip order pie with your dinner to make sure you get a slice as they run out.
Really enjoyed our meal. A cozy little place with good service. Unfortunately because it's a smaller place we felt kind of rushed to leave because of the amount of people standing around the tables waiting to be seated. Otherwise, highly recommend.
Best. Pie. Ever. I have to say we go for the pie. I used to really like the breakfasts, and they are still very good, but menu options are limited. I miss the scallops benedict. Overall though, the food is great and they use locally sourced food and beverages when they can. Always a plus.
Delicious food, great service, and the BEST pies in Southern Wisconsin. Need a longer vacation to sample them all. Wish they had a location in Savannah, we need great pie in the Hostess City!
Small menu for entrees bust everything is QUALITY. The food is warm, hearty, and great place for dinner on a cold night. Plus, the selection of pie is enourmous. Although, if you want a pie in particular, I would get their early because they do run out of some flavours
We frequently go here for dessert....love the pies! We typically sit at the bar. The service is consistently good and the desserts are spectacular. My favorite is coconut cream pie! Have never eaten here.
Mamosa is the best I've had. Food was just okay..
We've had some not so great meals at Honeypie this past year but this visit the menu has been revamped and we had really good food. Service is always good and a cupcake just topped it off. Yummy Bloody Mary's too!
Love this place! Their pie and desserts are obviously great but their food and cocktails are also very delicious. The staff is always friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.
I love their menu. I'm never disappointed when I go to Honey Pie. Sometimes I wished they took reservations, brunch can get crazy there and you can find yourself waiting for a considerable amount of time. Still one of my favorite go-to places in Bayview
It's so much more than pie! But the pie is F'n Delicious! My wife and I had Honeypie supply the pies for our wedding and people lost their minds over them. Who needs wedding cake when you can have wedding pie?!
We love going to eat at Honeypie too. And the drinks are delicious. Please, do yourself a favor and stop in at Honeypie, you'll love yourself more for it.
First time here
We had the Mac and cheese, pork, cornbread muffins and maple syrup
Pros: the food was amazing and delicious! The staff was also very nice
Cons: they brought us a wrong item and forgot some things on the side (such as the coleslaw and maple syrup)
Was there for brunch. Lots of great food options. Especially for vegans and vegetarians. Wait time was very low. Staff was friendly. Oh yea, and if you leave without getting a slice of pie, you’d be making a big mistake.
The hostess was very frazzled. Quoted us 45 minutes for brunch. Ok. No problem, brunch can be busy. We came back 20 minutes later after wandering to the used book store. We missed our table, it's going to be a bit longer. Ok... fine. We wait and wait and wait. Finally get a table. Service is friendly but very slow. We spent about 2.5 hrs rough guess at honeypie. Food was pretty solid, but the wait was just crazy. Also generally I'm a huge fan of their pie, but the coconut was so bland and the cream was overwhipped and not sweet giving it a butter like consistency. My hubby had the key lime which was 10x better minimum. Honeypie, I adore you, but this visit was kinda the pits.
Great options. Love everything I've had here. Fresh ingredients. It's worth the wait. Trust me everyone. Try one of there signature drinks. This is my brunch spot all year long.
I can't say I've ever had anything here I've disliked. The highlight of the menu has to be the pork fries. Every dish here easily puts the comfort in comfort food. From scratch bakery and desserts are always fantastic.
Absolutely delicious food. I thought the pulled pork sandwich would just be another cut and paste pulled pork sandwich, but I don't know if the pork had something special done to it or what but I destroyed the entire plate and wanted more. Definitely coming back to try more things on the menu.
Wanted a good breakfast place before we headed back out of town, in short, amazing. The food was delicious and good portion sizes too. Also cool they use local ingredients. If you want a place to eat, come here. Oh, one more thing, better come early!
What a unique restaurant in a unique space. My friends and I came for brunch on a weekend when they were in town, and although I initially didn't want to stay because of the lack of a proper host and estimated wait time (I was REALLY hungry), shortly after we put our names down, the place cleared out and we were seated in a cozy corner perfect for three. I had a breakfast casserole that included every breakfast item you could want, topped with a sunny side egg, and they even had the option of adding french toast, as a side. Who else gives you the option of a side of french toast? Why choose between sweet and savory, when you can have both?
Stopped in with a friend for lunch. Not very busy.
Our waitress was phenomenal. She made great recommendations and was extremely attentive even though the restaurant was busy. I went during brunch and it was the best food I have had in a very long time.
I have yet to come to this place and have a negative experience. Food is always on point and the staff is wonderful. My wife and I went on our wedding night and the waitress we had all but celebrated with us and made sure we had a great experience.
I really dig this place, and my daughter has two of their stickers on her bed headboard. The portions are generous verging on enormous. Say what you will about hipsters, they can cook. Honeypie bears that out!
Amazing corn muffins!! The atmosphere was casual and nice. One of the nicest patios. Service was great as well. Will absolutely be back, and frequently!
Bell's draft beer not bad. Had a caramel honey local brew. Had a beet soup Verdi cold. Didn't care for cold soup. Jackie had the house salad. Now the pies were delicious chocolate pie with cream topped with caramel. And rhubarb pie.
I had a really nice brunch here with a friend. Glad we got there early though because the place filled up quick. The service was friendly, the food was good and the portions were large. All for a reasonable price.
My girl brought me here for breakfast...Yummmm is an understatement! I don't care what meal you have here, leave room for dessert! (Dessert, spelled with two "S's" because you want two!!)
Friendly staff, decadent food, love this place! I'll be back! Enjoy folks!!! Life is good !!!!
Wow this place is super hip and they have all kinds of great food, It's so rich and delicious, this place really isn't diet friendly but it is vegan friendly and their drink selection as all locally sourced as well as all of their food. The price is a little high but in this case it is justified. Super friendly staff. The only drawback is the place is a little cramped.
A restaurant with cool vibes in a cool neighborhood that I (a Chicagoan) hadn't heard of. Definitely worth checking out. I've been here twice. The pie is fantastic but the dinner options are wonderful as well.
Friendly service and super cute place. Only one vegan brunch menu item, but I'd definitely go back for it. Huge fruit bowls are always a plus :)
Was visiting from Seattle and nearly became addicted to this place in a short time.
First time at new location, quite nice. The food here never disappoints! ❤
The food here is simply AMAZING. I've had the french toast made with homemade bioche and their awesome syrup. I just tried the Davenport this afternoon- what a meal! That open faced sandwich would satisfy any foodie and any hungry trucker alike! My husband had the Solid State sandwich and was super impressed. The pistachio cupcake is something we have every time we go- I just tried their chocolate coconut pie and it was heavenly. It is incredibly savory satisfying food at the right price, with a full beer menu and summer patio. One of our favorite places in Milwaukee- try it!
The Best! Staff is beyond amazing! Food is Excellent!
I also ordered the salmon hash and surprisingly it was rather small. Disappointed in the size but it had great flavor! The French toast was great a little on the heavy side but tasty nonetheless.
Delicious, the roasted romanesco was so good! Only thing I'd change is that they don't offer gluten free hamburger buns, because the burger choices looked great and I wanted one! 😃 …
I love the atmosphere, we came in for just dessert on Valentine's Day. They had all tables and bar reserved, it was empty, they didnt allow us to stay. We asked to take to go. They referred us to a local bar to eat it at. We went there. They had no forks and honey pie didnt put any in the to go box
Decent bar/restaurant in a trending neighborhood. The service was great although the food wasn't great. The food is overpriced ,it is an excellent bar with good drinks just don't go there for the food unless you want to pay for overpriced 'bar food'. Other than that it was great. You'll have fun.
Always some well crafted comfort food, good drink selection and great service. . I like to see clearity in the menu descriptions and layout. Even if there is little choice, I would rather be thinking More about the mouthwatering food instead of the confusing menu.
Pretty good service. Great dessert. The food... You never know. The menu changes wildly. I've had some amazing meals at Honeypie and gone back for more... And been disappointed...
May have rated it higher but I only tried one piece of pie!! They were still working on the new facility which looked adorable..plan on trying it again soon!
The food is excellent. I have not be disappointed by anything. Price is reasonable. Service is top notch. The fact they support local farms is a huge plus in my book. Can't go wrong here.
The food was good. The burger and the loaded fries were great! It's heavier greasier food, but not the gross unhealthy kind of greasy. Only complaint is the menu is small.
Never had a bad experience here. Their breakfast casserole is one of my favorite brunch items in town. And I love that they source food from local farmers
Visited Miluakee and combed through a myriad of food options and I was led to HoneyPie and I was not disappointed. The corn muffins were excellent not too sweet or too dry. I followed up with a succulent lamb and duck dish over canelli beans that was very flavorful and filling. If I ever come back I will have to visit again to avoid going to bar with food not as good.
Unique and delicious! But very very noisy. Restaurant should install acoustic panels to deaden noise.
I often come here for brunch on the weekend. All the food is great, but I really love the burrito! The chorizo in there in great, and all the other ingredients really complement the dish well.
Many Milwaukee neighborhoods are looking to transform themselves into upper class hangouts. The East Side has been successful in this endeavor, but I would argue that Bay View has not. I've been bumming around this neighborhood since my early teens, and it seems to me that there is simply too much of the old world Milwaukee remaining such that it prevents a new coherent vibe to emerge. Luckily, what little real estate is up for grabs can still be capitalized upon, as is the case with Honeypie Cafe, a sister restaurant to the now-infamous Comet Cafe of Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives fame, and is dishing out the same quality food that has made the big sister so popular.
Like the Comet Cafe, the restaurant is small, offering just a handful of tables and a bar. As the ample-sized pig on the sign might indicate, the restaurant deals in dishes of larger proportions and big flavor, apt for the Milwaukee clientele.
I visited on a Monday during lunch hour, and was glad I didn't decide to visit on the weekend - the place was quite full, with people waiting near the sign-in roster. Once I did get a table, I was then faced with the challenge of the menu. I've heard good things about their pork fries, so I chose those as an appetizer. Don't let the fact that they're advertised as an appetizer fool you - the product is a heaping helping of fries and pulled pork that would easily satisfy a table of four, or serve as a meal in itself. With plenty of fresh french fries, pulled pork, cheese sauce, and bacon, this dish was ridiculously decadent and completely representative of the mission of Honeypie Cafe. My main course consisted of a curried chicken salad sandwich that, while good, had a curry note that very nearly overwhelmed the rest of the ingredients. It didn't curb my enjoyment of the sandwich, however.
When it comes down to it, much of Milwaukee is still devoid of eateries that respect and showcase food in the way that Honeypie Cafe does. I am grateful to Scott Johnson and Leslie Montemurro, the restaurateurs that have founded Honeypie, Comet Cafe, and several other local hangouts that can hold food to a higher standard than many of their neighbors in the vicinity. I can almost guarantee that Honeypie will be busy when you visit, but man, is it worth the wait.
Pie is probably the best I have had in my over 40 years of life, the service was slow and not as friendly as the atmosphere and home cooked food feel leads on. If the pie was not as amazing as it was, we would of probably walked out.
Incredibly delicious brunch! All our meals were delicious and creatively prepared using farm fresh ingredients. Be prepared to wait for a table on a Sunday, great food brings in a crowd!!!!
Homemade pies. Tons of variety. Both fruit and cream, wide range of flavors. The menu is always changing. But it's not just pie. The dinner is good, too. Definitely comfort food (think quality Mac and cheese and pot pies).
But, mmmm. Pie.
I expected a lot more out of this restaurant while knowing it's connections in Milwaukee; however I was not pleased with the service or food. I ordered the pesto chicken sandwich in which the chicken was not cooked through and not trimmed properly. My first bite was raw chicken and the white fat that should be removed before cooking. After inspecting the chicken more it had white foam on the bottom indicating it wasn't cooked all the way. I told the waitress about my issue and she denied it not being cooked properly. Without even inspecting my meal herself she said it must not have been trimmed correctly and that was it. She still charged us for the meal. I would not return here. I much prefer the service and food at comet cafe.
Great place! Love the burgers and fries! Also excellent pie. And good beer selection. If you find a spot to park on KK take it if not the side street is usually a good place to look
Friday, October 5, 2018, breakfast before Lake Express Ferry across Lake Michigan. Very pleasant, friendly, helpful customer service. Delicious food. Quaint, clean environment. Thank you!
As always, Honeypie's food and service are absolutely top notch! The reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 is because the prices are now almost unreasonable. My $16 meal and $6.50 slice of pie were delectable and both made of locally-sourced ingredients. However, I'm a believer that in order to create real sustainable change, such as eating locally + supporting small business (the whole foundation on which Honeypie stands) there needs to be financial accessiblity. Fresh, local food already feels like a privilege instead of a right to many members of our community and paying $30 (food + drink + tip) for a single meal only served to reinforce that idea in my mind.
Yum, Honeypie, I am getting hungry just thinking about it. The Klug is my favorite menu item. They also have delicious Mac and Cheese. One of my favorite restaurants in Bayview. Sometimes, the wait is long, but that's okay, it is small, I won't hold that against them. Great staff too, thanks Honeypie!
One of the better burgers in milwaukee. Pie was good. Cocktails are a bit spendy
My beer had a dead fruit fly in it. Not a huge deal but that's why I took a star off.
Cobb Salad is the best in the world
Honey pie has consistently good and interesting food in a comfortable atmosphere. Never been disappointed! The pork fries are a perennial favorite.
Passing through and found this little gem. Great food and atmosphere. Staff was very friendly. Highly recommend if in the area. They are also known for having great pies and cupcakes.
Yum!! Truffle fries, heck yeah! Corn muffins, heck yeah! Biscuits n gravy were AMAZING!! Will be back next time I'm in Milwaukee. So glad our host brought us here for Saturday breakfast!
Menu is always changing with great new menu items. Loved everything I’ve gotten for brunch, try to save room for pie! I enjoyed the trivia cards on the table.
Wow. Elevated comfort food and a full bar? And pie??. Sign me up! This place was perfect! Definitely coming back soon. The menu has something for everyone and did I mention the pie?
Interesting menu. I had the chicken pie. One of our group ordered the Mac and cheese. Yum.
Altho there was a line on a Sunday morning, we were seated quickly. My 90yr old mother thought the sausage was too spicey, but the rest of our meal was very good, decent service too.
I normally hate banana flavored things, but their banana cream pie is sooooo good!
Friendly service in a cozy atmosphere. Wife and I came hangry. That being said our burgers were undercooked, egg whites still gelatinous, my beef almost raw. Too hangry to care we ate them. So. So. Hangry.
But seriously a chef should be able to recognize uncooked egg white. Or just know how to cook an egg over-easy.... Especially at $13.
Brunch here is really good. I've only tried the burger and bagel so far but I will be back. Service is pretty good and the staff covers for each other well if it is a little slow when they are busy
If you want to have a slice of pie and just chill and read this is the place to go.. I ended up getting two slices of pie with the delicious coffee to pair with it. I will be back when I'm in the area. Such a quaint place with farm like features even in the bathroom!!
Really nice atmosphere in this Bayview cafe. It is pretty small so be ready for a wait and don't go with more than 6. Food is very good. Fewer vegan options than we hoped but generally vegan friendly
This is our 2nd time here. And the food was great again. Cheesecake mmmm, cornbread mmm, mac n cheese mmmm. It was mother's day and after the lunch rush. Dirty tables and server disappeared for a bit. I bet she was busy but a bit disappointing. But we will be back!
Seasonal menu of comfort food. The pulled pork is exquisite. Whether it's brunch, lunch, or dinner, the food is always great. You'll be stuffed, but should probably gets a cupcake or slice of pie to go.
Friendly staff and delicious food! I had the Farmers Breakfast. It was so good I can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.
The food was amazing, the service was excellent, and the staff clearly takes safety/public health seriously. Highly recommend!
What an incredible meal. Locally sourced food that feels like it was designed on your plate. I was blown away by the quality of the food. Treat yourself to Honeypie if you are in Milwaukee.
The pork fries are always a good start. Amazing brunch and great place for comfort food. Play some 80s trivia while you wait for your order.
We picked up some baked goods to take home while driving through Milwaukee. The lemon lavender cupcake was heavenly!!! The Milwaukee mud pie was so chocolatey but not over sweet.
Some of the best pie in Milwaukee, charming place, great food, and Trivia Pursuit cards on the tables. Staff is friendly. My favorite place to go for dessert.
The coconut cream pie was delicious and the pork fries had tons of toppings. Worth the price!
Service was excellent, and even though there was a wait I never felt rushed. Food was typical brunch with a southern twist. Recommend the biscuits and gravy.
Delicious brunch with a cute outside patio.
In the past, we always loved Honeypie, but recently their food and vegan options have really gone downhill. The past few times we've been in, the food was mediocre or cold, and they've minimized their vegan options heavily. Hopefully there will be a turnaround soon!
It was my first time there and it was very good and the 🥧is a must.
BEST PLACE TO EAT IN MKE! I love it! Everyone is so nice, the food is great (cupcakes are amazing!!) i also love their burger and the patio is very nice to sit at. We go here way to much! Haha
