Reviews of Conejitos Place
Tim Walsh
Fine experience here. Food was good and prices were okay. A “hole in the wall” kind of atmosphere.
Note the 18% service charge is automatically applied to dine in bills. A different service rate is applied to take out, see pictures.
I appreciate their note that they’ll be giving their employees a full week off this August.

Obsessed with this place!! (Bought a t-shirt) Just so freaking good. Yeah prices went a LITTLE up, but who cares!! The food was insanely cheap to begin with, settle down people. 🤪 Margaritas are the best, they'll knock you down! 😃 If I lived closer I'd probably gain 30lbs because I'd be there constantly LOL. Tried to post pics but I couldn't NOT take a bite of my enchiladas as soon as he set them down. 😋

I've been coming here since I was a little kid when you could smoke in the bar side lol. The food is my all time favorite Mexican food and the service is great.
Craig Brinkmann
Authentic…wonderful, fast service. Simple old school family seating. Good atmosphere…love the beans and cheese.

I was excited to try Conejitos place after hearing so much about it, but I was disappointed. It's small, uncomfortable and really didn't have authentic Mexican.... more Americanized than I hoped.
Jeannette
Love their food, àlways have. Prices are very reasonable. Service fast. It's a bar atmosphere so it is noisy. In the back room, a little more quiet. They add on a tip at 18%. Don't like that as servers need to earn that tip and not a given. They actually get less as I give 20%. But it is what it is. They cut their hours down, so get there way early, 7 pm is too late. Unsure why food and bar service hours end very early. But go early, enjoy the food, and still have time to head out for a movie or whatever.

Amazing authentic Mexican and served on paper plates. 💯
Kellie Willis
This place is the best! Incredible food, great margaritas, and the staff is amazing! We were there while a disrespectful customer was harassing the workers. They handled it well and knew exactly what to do (I was about to scream at the guy). So impressed!
Wings-N-Whisky Meat and potatoes
My father swears by this place, so I felt it fitting to bring my friend form out of town here. The service wasn’t the greatest but the taste, quality and price of this delicious Mexican staple of Milwaukee totally makes up for what the service lacks.
Steak tacos were delicious and the Chicken mole pictured was absolutely amazing, so flavorful. My guest was totally impressed as well. I’m a returning foodie and my guest said he will be as well!!!
Enjoy!
Amy Wisinski
They have good food and fabulous margaritas. The service is iffy. They rush you out before being done. And check your bills people. They add gratuity to all checks even though menu says 5 or more.
Schmittydtty
Definitely a hole in the wall sort of spot. I will say that the food being on paper plates was not my favorite, but overall, it was a nice little place. At least the margaritas were good.

Never been to a Cantina in Milwaukee before. Fast food served on paper and full of flavor. I enjoyed this place even though my party arrived 2 minutes apart we made it work ..
Mike Miller
You wonder if they even read the reviews. Charging for water? Gee I wonder why no other restaurant on the planet does that. How greedy are you? BS on the 18% automatic gratuity? What's the incentive for the wait staff to try a little harder? After so many negative reviews you'd think they would wake up. Whoever is advising them needs to go. Place was once great but now after Jose is gone, they tried to "improve " things. BIG mistake. Go back to what works, you're losing business. Plus....the food isn't all that geat so check yourselves. Ever hear of Albertos? Go see Laura and Alberto. They have FREE chips and salsa and guess what, the water is on the house. Wake up Conejitos, you're not as great as you think.

Really great. I stopped in here after riding my bike up from Chicago this past Saturday before catching the Amtrak back home. Got 4 steak and bean tacos for $8. I had my food within 5 minutes of placing my order. Hit the spot. The service was very friendly. They welcomed me and then directed me to place my order at the bar. The guy who took my order looked like the guy in the photos hanging behind the bar so I assume maybe he was the owner. The dining room was full but they seem to do a good job with COVID-19 safety protocols. Dining room capacity was limited, and seating was spaced well to keep adjacent parties distanced from each other. Masks were required unless you eating or drinking. Great experience.
Quenten Fisher
Great Mexican restaurant. Quick, friendly, and a family vibe. I typically don’t like Margs but I LOVE theirs. Would highly suggest. Chips and salsa are fantastic as is the rest of their food.
Troy Moldenhauer
Great, authentic experience. Both English and Spanish spoken. Limited menu, and you won't be disappointed. Best Salsa I have EVER tasted.
Chris Summers
Good food and service. Not too many places for seating. Best to go with just a couple people. Seating by door is too cold in winter. Good margaritas and tostadas.
tee ols
Extremely busy at the time. Food was served extremely fast. Tacos were not very hot. Salsa was tasty. Guacamole was tasty.
Alexandra Stojsavljevic
The food is what keeps me coming back. Unfortunately, over the last 30 years I've watched this place go from a place to sit, relax, enjoy (even have parties), to a rushed, uncomfortable, and sub par experience. For some reason, people can only be seated in the bar area. Although every single table and seat are taken, you are seated with other parties at small tables just so they don't have to "open" the side area? I honestly don't understand why this is a practice. After paying for the food and ordering a salsa to go, I was asked to leave my seat and wait in the side area for them to bring it to me. Sadly, the management of this establishment doesn't seem to care if patrons are comfortable.
Nicholas Ruggieri
We love conejito’s with our whole heart. Great service, incredible food at a better than reasonable price. A Milwaukee staple!
thanh n
like there food but to have to pay for water is absurd. I would understand if it were Fiji but for water that taste off its a bit much. Other then that mole is always good.
Donna LS
Food was fine but I was pretty angry when I got home and realized I tipped over 20% over and above the 18% they deducted as a service charge for my husband and I to sit at the bar. I should’ve looked closer, but I’ve never encountered that for parties less than eight.
Courtney Wiher
We got Conejitos catering for a birthday party, and it was a super friendly and easy process, and delicious!!! Totally affordable and everyone was so happy 🤗
Jill Knaack
Conejitos has been a family/friend favorite for many, many years! Our favorites are the steak tacos, Spanish rice and beans! Service is always great!
Alisa Berndt
Authentic from food margaritas to atmosphere. The service is fast and welcoming. This is a place my family comes to whenever we drive in from out of state it's definitely a delicious tradition
Jerry Stoffield
Absolutely love this restaurant. Great food served on paper plates for a real value.
The margaritas are delicious and pack a punch.
Looking for a casual night out for cocktails and Mexican food - go to Conejitos!
Nick Kochelek
Been eating here for 10+ years and yet to have anything short of great. Food and drinks are consistent as you’ll ever find. Yes food is on paper plates an it’s a little bit of a “dive”, but it’s probably some of the best Mexican food in Milwaukee. Just think of it as a no BS Mexican joint. If you are a suburb soccer mom named Karen you’ll probably hate the place since it’s not contemporary and sterile. But if your down for some good food, nice atmosphere, and nice service look no further.
Dark meat mole is probably my favorite go-to. But like I said, yet to have something bad on the menu.
Even with their price jump which was menial at best, you can go on a date with someone, 2-margaritas each, full dinner, 20% tip and walk out for under $40. I think $8 is the most expensive thing on the menu if that’s any indicator.
I’m guessing any 1-star reviews are some minivan driving soccer moms who hate life in general so I’d ignore them.
Dan Kavanaugh
Authentic hole in the wall joint with cheap eats and quick friendly service. Food was ok, nothing to write home about, comparing to other authentically run places. Good spot for a quick bites with some friends.
Thomas Brunhart
If you are out of town...maybe visiting Harley Davidson Museum or staying at the Iron Horse...a stones throw away is one of Milwaukee's local gems- Conejitos. This is a very charming restaurant that locals and out of towners flock to for some of the best original Mexican cuisine available ANYWHERE at prices so inexpensive you can feed a family six and not have to leave one of your kids as collateral !!!! Casual is the dress, casual is the service, most food served on paper plate, Margaritas (a small pitcher is the way to go) and the food is out of this hemisphere. (a hint..bring your own limes for the Margarita...lol...don't know why but they don't serve LIMES!! The tacos are unbelievably good...and the Chicken Mole serving is huge and delectable. Try it....you'll go back guaranteed! Lip smacking good!
Dan Rehbein
Ate here late on a week night (about 9 PM). They only were serving some limited menu items at this time since they were winding down. No big deal for me, I got my steak tacos, but not my mole enchiladas. The food was a good as usual, and the service was fine. I have heard many people say its gone down hill. I didn't see it. I have been eating hear off and on for years.
Most food is served on a paper plate, so don't expect fine southwestern styled ceramic tableware. I know this and accept it. It's more about the "Conejito's Experience" then anything else.
The building is small and a bit old school, so again don't expect a fine dining experience.
Joe T
Great time at the Stadium Tour 7 2022
Debbie Mccomb
Had the Mexican Plate Lunch. Chunk beef, potatoes and green beans. I was worried about the green beans being whole but I didn't notice them. They most likely were simmered down with the beef giving it the good flavor. The beef was tender and delicious. Rice and beans were awesome. Ordered chips and salsa Ala carte. Salsa just the right heat. I asked for a side of cilantro which they didn't offer. It was 9:30 at night and they offered a limited menu. They closed at 10 pm. We ate on a Monday night. Service was good and fast but then again there was only one other couple dining. The food was super reasonable. Your taste buds will thank you.
Demi Willand
The pork dinner and ribs are out of this world. Delicious steak tacos at a fantastic price. Definitely will come back
Emily Anderson
Some of the best flour tortillas...thin and delicious. Seating in the bar, restaurant or back. Everyone is always friendly and welcoming. Grabbed some late night tacos and the plate lunch. Good food - good people.
Matt and Jen Pederson
We got to visit this gem for the first time with friends. If you've never been here, you must go! Nice no-frills casual place to go with simple, delicious meals and drinks!
Monica Maz
Love conejitos! The steak and bean tacos and margaritas are just so delicious!
Paul Carpente
Have been enjoying this place for over 30 years. Consistent food, communal dinning experience and reasonably priced...
Sharon Emering
Good food. Small place. They do not take reservations. Kind of a dump.
Károly Magyar
Mmmm.. When you want it, nothing else will do.
Conejito's has that special place in my heart - and in my belly.
Love the tostadas. Everyime. For years/decades.
Jeff El Gato
I had the Chicken Mole ! Great , cozy place. They add 18 % automatically for a tip ? That just confused me on what to tip the bartender. I guess some people need help with tipping ? Myself included.
Kathy Leonard
A nice little place. Good food good service. Was taking a little back that everything was served on paper plates. But that's okay. Had a great time. Wait time with short on a Saturday night. No Reservations taken.
Leann Lynn Nicholson
Good food nice little place to hang out. It was funny to see they serve food on paper plates lol
Brian Niggemann
Still the best place in Milwaukee to get tacos. The beans are so amazing, the salsa 2000 is the best tasting hot sauce ever. Everything about this place is unique. Most places taste about the same, but conejitos is in its own category. No frills, just great food at prices that are ridiculously inexpensive.
Alisa Burdick
Conejito's is a great place to eat delicious tacos for a great price! My care worker and I went for lunch. At noon, we were seated promptly, given menus and offered drinks.
Though they do offer margaritas and a variety of beers, we declined. She was on the clock and I.. Well, I don't drink much.
However, if you do, from the other patrons; They weren't disappointed.
The tacos were divine for the price! 4 tacos with steak, lettuce and tomato for $6. I don't usually eat tomatoes but these tacos were so good!
For a little bit extra; you can get Molé, Guacamole or sour cream but once you try a taco.. You might not bother with extra stuff.
Go down there, try the food and experience authentic Mexican food for one of the best prices in the city!
Jim Truesdale
I've been coming here for years. Even though the original owner has passed, his recipes live on. Prices are reasonable, the food and Margaritas are wonderful.
Nick Rutkowski
I love this place but can only give it a 3.
The service is charmingly deplorable. You never know what you'll get. They will argue with you. They will gaslight you. They don't know the difference between their own salsas. Good luck ordering the salsa to go. Order salsa 2000 you'll get the red sauce. Order the green salsa you'll get the red sauce. Say you want the same stuff you get with the chips they'll look at you funny one day the next they'll get you what you want. Their skill at inconsistency is so good it feels like it's on purpose. The margaritas are made with the fluid from the inside of a highlighter. I think its called lemon fablioso floor cleaner. It comes in gallon jugs. It will give you heartburn. All beers are served with lemons not limes.
Their menu says
"Open later than other dining rooms"
So deal with what you get!
Please never change unless its for the better.
RitaS Energy&Herbs
Food is amazing and authentic and so very affordable.
It's one of our regular stops when we had towards Milwaukee
Dale Domanek
Always our go to Restaurant to go to whenever we are in the area, been coming here for a long time great food and atmosphere.
Jered Shilling
Good cheap food. Excellent value. A favorite of ours.
Jerrod Carr
I kinda wolfed the tacos down before I even thought of taking a picture, but in all fairness, if you've seen one taco, you've seen 'em all. No frills, all flavor. The salsa provided along the bar and on the tables had some nice heat and great flavor. I also ordered chips and salsa, along with a couple margaritas. Everything was super good. I'll probably be going every Friday for the near future. Good job, guys 🤙🏻
Renee Mielke
Down to earth, simple food. Served on paper plates (except for their chicken mole). Great prices. $42.00 for: 20 steak tacos (4 per plate, 4 enchilada dinners, 3 tostada's, 3 margaritas. WOW!
Never a bad visit.
Willie Kiefert
Great food on paper plates, great atmosphere and friendly people.
catnip box
Always amazing! Fast and kind service, affordable menu, and chill ambiance. If you need a quick meal that won't break the bank, please come here!
Joe Kreuser
Very small inside, expect that you might share a table with other diners. Food still comes on a paper plate! Beans rice for the win. Tacos have always been some of the best in the city. Service was quick and very friendly.
kat o
The best Mexican food in the Midwest !!!! The best rice and beans ever :) order the three tostadas you will not be disappointed!!! Been going here for years and I still crave it all the time :)
Kimberly Newkirk
Over priced for the small menu. Large margarita pitcher was $44. Menu was updated July 2022. Didn't even have a basic quesadilla as an option.
Pablo Baez
Beware... It's a great spot for cheap, quick Mexican food in a Milwaukee staple. But, they add an 18% "service charge" onto every bill listed with the food!...seems dirty to me, because then they suggest an additional 20% tip at the bottom of the bill!!! They're scamming a lot of people to double tip. Not cool.
Nick Ray
Been going here for years and it has maintained 2 valuable things: good food and a cheap price. If you're looking for a place to fill your stomach before a brewery or distillery tour (1 of each less than a block away), this place will set you up well. :)
George Kowalski Sr
Wow, just as good as years ago when I first went there. Good food and quality pieces.
Pam Rotella
This place has been around since I was a college student in the 80s. Yes, you still have to pay for the chips and salsa, and yes, the food is still good. They don't serve it on paper plates anymore though. The exterior looks a little run down, but inside is clean, still small though. They may have another dining room now, though im not sure because it was closed when I ate there.
Jarod Richter
In recent years the price has increased and the portions have dwindled. Despite this fact I will still be a seasoned patron with over 30 visits under my belt. Chicken mole is oaxacan in style and delicious beyond compare. There house picante is other-worldly! Special shout out to their tostadas. I order atleast 3 in addition to any entree I order.
dr. hook
Been going here since 1991 food is always good and stil very reasonable. Has changed over the years especally with how custmers are treated not like the old days when owner would buy and drink a shot with ya. :) Great place to stop before Bucks or Brewers games.
Angee Shaw
Served on paper plates which is fine but I prefer corn shells so uhm no
Steve Haro
LOVE the authentic Mexican food.
Awesome Steak and Bean Tacos.
Margaritas on the Rocks.
Not fancy. Food served on paper plates 😀
But fantastic food and fast service and great prices.
Owen Murray
GO ON SUNDAY! They have the best Huevos Rancheros, which is essentially carnitas (pork), beans, rice, a special (excellent) red sauce, and tortillas with eggs. Mix it all up, put it in the tortilla and it's a flavor explosion. We decided to go there with my extended family, and even though you're not supposed to seat more than five people per table, they allowed us all to sit together. My family also loved their tacos, enchiladas, and again, if you're even partially a fan of Mexican food, try the Huevos Rancheros. You will not be disappointed. Additionally, the food was delivered to us speedy fast. On a final note, I totally forgot to mention the prices. So cheap compared to other places *cough Uncle Julio's, Hermana's, should I continue?) and really the quality was better.
wendy kaufert
Most delicious food ever!
I'm come back for sure!
Jennifer B
Has always been a favorite, I moved to Texas and this was my 1st visit in 6 or more years. Food is still the same as I remember and Margaritas are always a hit. Cheap hole in the wall prices with great food and drinks. ....still 5 stars from me but stop charging for bottled water and refusing to serve people a glass of water.
Sam Engsberg
The Mader's of Mexican cuisine in Milwaukee. A great no-frills cultural emblem of all things good about Mexican food. Their salsas are amazing and the meat remains the highlight of their entrees. Quality tortillas, quality rice and beans. Lots of cheese too, which can be a plus or minus. Quality service and great prices.
Paula Goin
I have NEVER been to a "sit down" restaurant and not been given or offered water. When I asked for water... I was told, "I had to purchase it!" I brought my 3yr old grandson and NOTHING on the menu accommodates younger children. Not even the ability to buy a smaller portion not for full-price of whats listed on the menu. The ability for even milk on the menu was absent. I have been a loyal customer to your establishment for 48yrs. I have never received such poor service and a non-existent waitress. I came in at 11am, only 2 other tables had customers in the dining room.
Curt Keller
Great as always. Never disappoints me. Quick service great food
Karen Panfil
To me they are the only place I know I will have a great meal. Must be something in the paper plates.
Ariel Glassman
Food was unevenly heated but otherwise fine. We were not informed that we would be charged extra for sides like rice and beans, because I thought we ordered combos, or that "lettuce and tomatoes" did not mean ON our food but NEXT TO it and charged extra for a "side salad." Anyway, faulty communication. I wish they'd have simply asked if we "wanted any sides." Overall experience... eh. May not be back.
Marina Borges
Food is reasonably priced. Menu selection is small but food is good. I would give them 5 stars but their tacos are made with flour tortillas and I need to have my corn tortillas. Staff is very friendly and great selection of tequilas! My 'go to' spot for fast service.
Michael Zeman
Great food and service. Paper plates can go.
Kevin Michalowski
The two margaritas were more expensive than 2 meals salsa chips and guacamole. Margaritas are 4 bucks. Skip the math and just go there now.
Evan St. Martin
Excellent no frills Mexican cuisine. Can't wait to go back!
Bruce Heilbrun
Food and service was great. They are struggling and need customers to return.
Sarah Koehler
Amazing service and food! One of my favorite places!
Robert Petoskey
I haven't been here in many years and it still just as good as ever. Their guacamole and salsa w/chips were a great start to a delicious meal. We had steak tacos, tostadas, and enchiladas and all were delicious. Service was great and prices were reasonable. Last but not least...the margaritas were yummy.
Jeff Middlestead
Each time we come to Milwaukee we include Conojito's as part of our itinerary.
Corey Szumski
Affordable, tasty food! Menu is not large, but everything was good. They do charge for everything, including chips and salsa (unlike some Mexican restaurants that serve it complimentary). I enjoyed the bean tostadas. A lot of food for the price!
V. B.
This place has been the same for years--same food, same service--for 30 years. They serve unpretentious food for unpretentious people. No frills, just tasty food on ridiculously cheap paper plates. I have loved this place for what it is...If you are looking for a five-star formal ding, this isn't it. A nice old place to chill out and have some inexpensive Mexican food.
Julie Grace Immink
Cheap eats, stiff drinks all served in a dimly lit bar
Neil Hinterberg
This place is great. We arrived on a Tuesday at 2pm and they were still quite busy from lunch time. The waitress was older and incredible! She was running around all the tables, getting orders taken and delivering food quickly. She has to be the hardest working waitress I've ever seen. The food was excellent and the bottle of salsa on the table was so good I had to buy a bottle to take home. If you don't mind paper plates and love delicious Mexican food then this is the place for you!
Megan Anderson
you are the best !!!! I haven't come across better food and Margarita. I am Polish, staying in the USA for several months. I do not communicate in English .. Your culture is closer to me than the American one. Thank you
Chuck Tuyls
Great service.
Good food.
susan irek
This was a late afternoon 3 pm to-go order, so don't take this review as not 5 star. I looked up best chicken molé & it was as delicious as reviewed by others, but obviously was the very last pieces from lunch (very tender inside, but dry, unchewable edges & the chips were very stale) The rice & beans were heavenly and the sauce for chips & guacamole tasted great.
The establishment is very nice & location/parking was good- at 3 in the afternoon!! I'll definitely go back again & I think great for date idea. They are very conscientious of current mask & distance regulations.
Cappyfoot
Love this place! You'll think it's just a dive bar, but it has some of the best Mexican food in town. All served on paper plates😁! …
Calvin D
5 stars for their enchiladas and margaritas. Don't bother with anything else, those are the best options.
Edit: this place used to be good. After a hair found on an enchilada, poor service and being asked to leave for sitting at the wrong table, I would recommend going somewhere else.
Adam Elderson
Disregard the reviews that talk about the poor staff and paper plates. The paper plates are a staple of Conejitos, and big reason they are able to keep the prices low. I have been going here for 5 years and the food is always great (especially for the price). Not to mention, my order always comes out hot within 5 minutes of my order. Noting but good things on this end! SUPPORT CONEJITOS!
Sara Huerta
Been here three times, bone in mole is best, the boneless is kind of dry but still good. Simple good bar food with bar atmosphere. Very pleasant servers.
meredith phillips
Great food, very great prices. Don't have lines, which found odd at first, but use lemons instead. Our family favorite for Mexican and really can't beat the price!!! Family of 3, we can eat for under $30, sometimes even $20, depending on what we order! Never had a bad meal, and chicken mole, best in city!!!
Erk Hoeft
The food was really good and it was cool to see the staff actually Mexican/Spanish, makes it seem more authentic. Only weird thing is that the menus were just printed on paper and food was served on paper plates.
Elhert Kyle
Amazing food. Absolutely love the atmosphere.
Joshua Rivers
The staff is great and accomodated us on a day they had their main dining room closed and we had a family of five show up. However, despite my wife and kids loving it, they can provide a better review. I personally do not like the food at all and I seem to end up sick almost every time I go. It's cheaply priced, and their drinks are ok. But I cannot endorse the food no matter how many times I go for the family and such.
Melissa King (Missy)
Been coming here for years and years. Food is always fast, good and cheap.
Angelieka Shaw
Went here on my lunch break I was drawn because they don’t offer corn shells for the tacos and I don’t care for flour decided to get the enchiladas but was skeptical after she told me how they make em gotta say they were better than most. They are a little heavy on the seasoning the margarita was good as well
Eugene Rosenberg
Always great, always reliable. We stopped there for the first time in two years on the way into Milwaukee. I wasn't surprised by the price hike, because it was the first one I can recall in my life. The price for the two of us was still under $20 with iced tea. A must go for authentic Mexican food.
Danielle Caritinos
Great food served on paper plates. Margaritas went up in price quite a bit so, will have to avoid those. Prices overall went up in some cases 50-60% but food is worth the increase, since prices have been very reasonable for years. One suggestion, bring the margarita prices down and you will bring more $$$ in the till and tips... Have Daily specials...
L B De Franco
Went here throughout all my MU days in the late 90s and returned many, many years later. Still the same fantastic place, with banging margaritas and huevos rancheros. Absolute legend of a place!
Erin Olivia Eregbu
My fiancé brought me home the Mexican Plate Lunch.
Caitlin R.
The consistent quality of the food shines even through these trying times. Food & drink prices reasonable enough to treat a friend! Now offering curbside Carry out (thank you!) in addition to indoor dining now open again. An icon in Milwaukee more than 40 years. I am occasionally nostalgic for the 'dead plants' 😉 …
Tracie Wren
I really enjoyed the food and service. The bathroom was clean, did not have a long wait time. The only problem I have was after leaving outside, the waiter came after us regarding her tip. It was me and my three children. It was so embarrassing in front of my kids and all the customers. Now regarding the tip, I only had a $20 bill and was planning on getting change and leaving a tip. After going to the bathroom it slipped my mind which was wrong. But I don't want the waiter coming after me. I would have remembered and brought it or mailed it back. I think that's very unprofessional for $5 and my total bill was $48.92. I wouldn't risk my life for $5. Also, wonder if someone is poor and can't afford a tip but can only feed their family. Is this the approach she will always give out or was it because of my ethnicity and being in a all Mexican restaurant she felt compelled to approach us. Inquiring minds would like to know.
Karen Snow
Prices are great.
Pork plate lunch good.
Service very average
Wont sing a birthday song to a kid cause of covid.
Reallly?
Other really good Mexican restaurants.
I prefer
Kody Brand
Great place to grab some food with friends and family. The food comes on paper plates, but is fantastic! They recently raised their prices, but still very reasonable. The margaritas taste great and you will for sure feel them when you get up to leave. Overall a great place!
Caitlin Reading
Excellent Mexican flavours in this simple tavern style food. In the Top 3 for margaritas. Special treat kinda place for older kids. Free to mix & match menu items. Very reasonable prices across the board. Seating options include eat at the bar, a table or family style islands.
Chrystal Graff
My family has been coming here since the late 70s, I remember my parents always taking my brother and I there for dinner and they would sit at the bar and chat with Mr. Conejito. My grandfather was even invited to his funeral. We miss seeing him! walking into this place brings back so many memories, now I take my own family there and the food is still our favorite in town!
LuRene Griffith
You will LOVE this place!! The food is great and priced for any budget. Drinks are the best ever. My family has been going there for over 30 years, that should tell you just how GREAT this place really is! Staff is the most friendliest I've ever seen at any establishment in Milwaukee. If Yu joy LOVE Mexican food, this is a must try, you'll Never go elsewhere again!!!🌮🌯🍹🍻🍽️
Ralph Caffery
Low price, great food, TVs for watching sports, and a great atmosphere. Very friendly servers.
steve strzyzewski
A very tasty lunch of 3 enchiladas 1 each, beef,,, chicken and cheese and onion. Accompanied with a small amount of homade hot sauce which could have been more flavorful. 2 drinks and 2 sodas came in under 16$. Well worth it.
Art Stamos
Food good, price good, place cramped, staff friendly drinks proper and cheaper, like the mandatory gratuity, feels like everyone is doing their best
Marc Abplanalp
Nice corner bar with really good food. Simple, traditional flavors. Like having dinner at a friend's house, if your friend lived in a bar and his mom and dad were awesome cooks. The chop meat tacos are something else.
Ken Greene
I love this place. The food is excellent, the prices are great and so are the margaritas. Very friendly waitstaff and the food comes very quickly to your table. I try to get here on every trip to Milwaukee that I can. Just a very enjoyable Neighborhood Restaurant. I highly recommend that you give it a try if you have time.
Shannon McLimans (Earwaxx)
Good food for super cheap. They use paper plates to keep prices down. Strong margaritas. Good for large group celebration or family dinners, and if you're simply looking for yummy heart warming food for very cheap! There is a bar side and a restaurant side. Bar side can get rowdy.
Mark Schwacher
Good food, fast polite service. They don't want you sitting and chatting when you're done eating even if you're ordering drinks.
Mixed feelings about that policy (it says it on the menu and a guy I work with was asked to move to the bar after eating) figure on eating and leaving. Great Lakes Distillery is across the street and Mobcraft is half a block east, 2 great places to socialize.
Eldamar Isle
You have to go there, just go! Unpretentious, quality food for pennies! The most expensive item on the menu is $5.00! Margaritas $3.50! Some might say the menu is limited, but I say it is just right. Most dishes are served on paper plates, who cares! The food is simple honest Mexican fare. Try it, you'll like it...
Todd Welsch
Limited seating due to Covid, , but still my favorite Mexican restaurant, working hard to stay afloat. Pork with mole sauce just as good as it was 20+ years ago. Great T shirts too.
Rob Barrett
Always awesome! Cheech and Chong can't be wrong. Best Mexican restaurant in Milwaukee. Plate lunch is the best deal around!!!
R S
Excellent food and great value. Only one terrible downfall......don't let the large display of high-end tequila's behind the bar fool you. They will not make you a margarita using any of them. Pre-made margaritas using "rail" tequila only! Not so terrible though......especially after the first one. Enjoy!

Update as of March 2020: so I will go from 1 to 3 starts for now. As a very long time visitor of this well known Walkers Point restaurant near the newerish Iron Horse Hotel and round-a-bout (at one a point i was a weekly regular) now give an update from one to 3 stars. This was because of a stop on Sunday afternoon with 4 friends who are also aware of the many changes, some not so great, this restaurant has seen and experienced over the recent years. We walked in the front door and decided to sit at a table instead of the bar (no bartender) but it still took awhile to get any service. We had thought we only saw 1 server and eventually 1 bartender for the entire restaurant....but after that seemed to be 8 minutes or so, we were given menus (no longer on tables) and a chance to order margaritas (still the same and still recommended). I ordered my usual, chips, guac, chicken enchiladas with rice and beans. The prices have gone up over the years, but I think they may had brought them a bit down since the last time I visited, when I thought the prices were outrageous for what you get on paper plates, compared to similar prices down the street at other real plate Mexican restaurants. The food/ recipes are so the same so no change there. Basic food on a paper plate, don't expect anything fancy, but that is the kitsch of this place. Our server was nicer than the last time we were there, in which they limited the amount of margaritas we ordered, the prices I believe were higher, and i overheard they wouldn't sit a party of 15 until the 16th person got there, they were closing early and just were not nice. Maybe they realized and have made some changes to go back to some of their old, likable ways
Marta Julia
Very cozy place. Food is delicious! Really loved the beans and enchiladas. Definitely recommend (:
Lori Anne Riegler
I love this place, I eat here at least once a week. It's not fancy, it's come as you are. Food is served on paper plates, and your order comes up fast! I usually have my lunch or dinner for around $6, tip included. Food is good, mole is great. I usually have the tostadas or enchiladas. After living in Chicago for 10 plus years I really miss authentic Mexican food, this is it!
Travis Sternhagen
Probably one of the best places to get food in Milwaukee regularly. You spend 4 some dollars to have 4 tacos and get some amazing margaritas! It comes on a paper plate and if you're looking for a ritzy place don't go here but if you want amazing cheap food. Eat here often. I have eaten here easily 50 times and have enjoyed every single time I have gone.
Ellery Kretlow
My favorite place to eat after work. Good food a very cheap, love the paper plates.
Ben Kraft
Very cheap food. But dont let the price make you think it is bad food. IT IS NOT. The food is AMAZING. It came as a bit of a shock when the food came out on paper plates, but my plate was clean when I left. Could not recomend this place enough. The building is very small and they do not take reservations, so there might be a wait. I also love the location, right be the Harley Davidson museum in downtown Milwaukee!
Paul Jeffers
Loved it. Our lunch showed up quickly and was hot. Absolutely nothing fancy about this place. My kind of joint.
adam soratos
As a newcomer to MKE coming from Central Texas, I was a little worried I wouldn’t find legit Mexican food here. I’m pleased to say that this is better than any Tex-Mex or authentic claiming mexican restaurant than I ever frequented in all of Texas. The ambience is perfect, more of a bar than a restaurant, which I like. An old timey jukebox, and fast, courteous service. And the prices are affordable enough that I come here once a week at very least. You catch a game here too if that’s your thing. This isn’t for people who think the fajitas at Chili’s is Mexican food. This is the real deal. So if spicy salsa makes you want to complain instead of rejoice, move along.
Jay S
A Milwaukee legend. Don't expect fancy, but do expect good food. It's served on paper plates. The enchiladas are amazing. Be aware the place is small so there will be a wait at peak times. Worth it.
Gene Summers
May be misunderstood the first time you go and get served on paper plates.
Simple and cheap Mexican food with a simple menu. Food is delicious and addicting. Very strong and cheap margaritas as well. Anyone new in town I take there.
I have been going there for close to 30 years.
Seating on the original bar side is tight but you may make new friends at the "island" table.
Jamie M.
I've been to Conejitos from childhood on and the food was good when I was younger. The service was good then too. As a young adult they must've changed a cook or something because it tasted very good. But for the past 6 years the food, service, and general surroundings went down. My boyfriend loves their food, I guess their rice and beans are okay, but I ordered their enchiladas and I couldn't take another bite. We went another time and the waiter was rude. We stood waiting to be seated and they seated the couple that came in after us! Than when we ordered it took the waiter 15min to get my silverware after my food came! I gave it another chance with him last year, and even my boyfriend who grew up with his family eating there got upset and almost went off. They charged us for 4 sodas when we only had 1 each, we were passed again by people who entered after us to be seated, the waiter ignored us a few times when we were trying to order extra food to go, and when we got the check he tried charging us for Alcohol that we never ordered! The customer is supposed to be right, well here it is backwards! GoodLuck if you go here, I truly wish you the best.
Katie Hammett
Great tacos. This place serves the most simple Mexican food at reasonable prices. They get weird about where you sit
Charlie Okray
They put their hot sauce in ketchup bottles so I dunked my pork ribs in it thinking it was ketchup and almost burned my tongue off. Great food and atmosphere tho. 5/5
Eric Thomas
I love this place. Every time I go back to Milwaukee I visit and get the bean tacos. The hot sauce is amazing. Yes it's on paper plates, it's clean, it's mexican street food, just eat it. My friends love the meat dishes. Cheap as hell and super good. Their tacos are a delivery system for the sauce. Just go already.
Serena Kielley
5/5 stars! The food is great, atmosphere is spiritual, and the experience is so inexpensive! Literally most thing on the menu are under 10 dollars and still the food is phenomenal! I go there when ever I'm in the mood for a burrito and beans and rice!
Steven Galewski
The food is good. We were a party of 9 celebrating a teens birthday at 7pm. After being seated we were not greeted, but told how they would accept payment and " being a bigger party you have 1 hour". Very uncomfortable, a birthday celebration turned into people watching the time to make sure that we didn't over stay our welcome.
Spike Kuenn
Great cheap food on a paper plate! Margaritas are pretty good as well!
jimmy Conway
IV been going here over 20+ years and I like it no matter what snow flakes say... Its a nice cool no bull get eats a fast drank an out the door or stay till feel like going.. Most people are good folks.. A good place to go by your self if you feel...
Joe Balistrari
The food hasn't changed since its been opened. Thanks guys for some of the best Mexican food I've had across country! Get the bean tostadas and cheese and onion enchiladas it the staple here
Chuck Hood
This is one of our favorite places to eat in Milwaukee. We frequented it when we lived there and always go back when we visit now. Good cheap authentic Mexican food and good powerful margaritas. They have a new addition now that is shiny and modern, but kept the old side more or less as its been for decades (including the dead hanging plants from the ceiling). Just go give it a try.
Dustin Zastrow
Casual dining with great authentic Mexican dishes. Priced right for even budget minded folks. The Chicken Mole is the best in town and also the only dish served on a china plate. Salsa is fresh and crispy so are the chips and the guacamole is heavenly.
Stephanie
Their mole is delicious, I totally recommend! Very good prices, but sometimes you have to call more than two times to place an order, due to having a full house. Other than that, I totally recommend this place!
Nick Toecker
Here's the thing about Conejito's Place. It's great. The kitschy ambiance. The cheap food and margaritas (the pork burritos are a hidden gem). The service. When you eat there you're eating a part of Milwaukee culture.
The food is by no means traditional or healthy. They use a lot of lard. But that's what makes it taste so damn good.
Wayne Bergmann
Best Mexican food served on a paper plate love this place
Alyssa Sturzl
I love this place. It's so inexpensive but they have the best tostadas I've ever eaten. The staff is very friendly and I frequented this place all through college. Whenever I come to Milwaukee with friends I always bring them here! There's no place quite like it! Excellent food and service!
Christina
The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. I'm not fond of the paper plates but I guess that's how they keep their prices down. We had a great time. It was my son's birthday, so they put a big Sambero on his head and put a candle in a lemon with a shot of tequila and played happy birthday on the juke box. Everyone in the place sang. It was great.
Timothy Andersen
Each and every time I've eaten here over the course of 30+ years it's been enjoyable. Always the same and always tasty. Simple menu, super fast service and very affordable. Perfect for when you're downtown and want a fast and inexpensive meal.
Devin Schulz
Food is good and affordable. Their biggest problem is their poor customer service. Been coming here for years and have had multiple bad visits based solely on their staff.
Something to keep in mind is to never go here in a large group. They will put you at a table right next to the door and then make you pay extra for sitting there. I thought they were messing with us, we had even asked for a different table but they said we had to sit at that one...
Steven Quandt
I have been going here for 30 years. It is the only Milwaukee genuine Mexican restaurant. I have lived in the southwest US and have tasted the best mexican food there is. My only complaint is that the quality of the food has dropped since the original owner died. Prices are very reasonable.
Becky L
Great tacos and you can't beat the price! It's super casual- they do serve your food on paper plates but my husband and I got four tacos, three enchiladas, rice, beans, and chips and salsa all for $10! Food was authentic- just a little too much cheese on the enchiladas for my preference. Will be going back though!
Burton Fleisher
What's not to love? high-quality inexpensive food, the taste delicious and homemade. Service is decent and even though most of the time it feels like you're sitting inside of a bar, it's cozy and friendly. Also one of the few places that offers late night eats. Highly recommed as one of the best Mexican restaurants in Milwaukee.
Jim Dunham
Best eats for a relatively decent price..haven't found a better bean tostada in southeast Wisconsin..if you can deal with paper plates fast service and good Mexican food this is it.
Kelly Vogelmann
The refried beans were excellent. I was disappointed in the chopped meat tacos. They weren't as good as they've were years ago. There was a lot of fat on the meat. Nothing turns me off more than biting into a mouthful of fat. The service was prompt. The waitress was friendly.
Aaron R
Very inexpensive. Nearly everything is extra. For example, chips and salsa don't come together or automatically with the food.
Jason Boynton
Just like others say, cheap quick mexican food served on the cheapest paper plates you can get your hands on. Friendly service, food could use a bit more flavor, but is good. Salsa is excellent.
Ashley Gregory
The food was good, but the staff was less than polite. We (party of 3) walked in at 1:40 to grab lunch before our flight back home. The staff set us in the back area that wasn't as crowded as the other bar area. They let us know as soon as THEY sat us at our table that this area closes at 2. I said ok, and proceeded to look at the menu. Most places you go will continue to serve you after closing hours as long as you sat before closing time. When our food arrived (approx 10 min later) we were told again that they close at 2 and asked us to move to the other side of the restaurant. We refused and told them we shouldn't have to move because THEY sat is at that specific table. They ultimately gave up on trying to get us to move. Good food - Horrible service.
Kenneth Konkol
The food is delicious, I've had the 4 steak tacos, the enchiladas which where great. I'VE also had the bbq pork spareribs served in mole sauce, with a plate of rice and beans and tortillas. All the food is very affordable.I can't say enough.
Jaren Singh
The menu is small, but the food is totally reliable. Don't let the exterior fool you - this place is worth a trip.
The service is extremely fast. Been here a bunch of times and we've never waited more than 10 minutes for our food
Ned Leahy
The food is cheap and very tasty. I have been a fan for over 35 plus years. My favs that I get every time are the tostatoes and beef enchiladas(the bomb). Unfortunately the new owners dont have the same service and the margaritas are not nearly as good. But I will never stop going there.
John Mesch
The enchiladas were dope af. I was drinking beer but watched the dude next to me drink just 1 margarita and that son of a birch was WRECKED! It was incredible!
Jon Gruver
Food was good and very reasonable. Drink prices were also good. The only drawback was that everything was served on paper plates. I don't know if that's the norm or not as one person out of our group of twelve did receive a glass plate.
Michelle Rochon
I was nervous things had changed after reading reviews for the last few months. I’ve been going here for 20 years and it’s always been great. I’m happy to say after my visit today that it still is! Yes, prices increased a bit but I’ll gladly pay the new prices! Service was quick and friendly. Still amazing!
John Patrick
How could anybody not like this place. No, it's not a good place to bring your wife for your 25th year anniversary. No, it's not the kind of place that has a 5 star chef who has a doctorate in culinary arts. It's REAL Mexican food at a price you can't beat. Yes it's busy and yes you eat off of paper plates, so stop being a douche and have some fun!
Abby Heggem
We were seated in the back right corner, Right side of the juke box. I wasn't hungry but my sister was. We got bottled water, my one compliant - I am giving it up for lent. I ordered bean tostadas, 3 of them.
Solid 10/10
Joe P
Cheapest place to get a sit down meal in Milwaukee. Decent Mexican food, very small menu, but everything is like $4.50 per entree, so you can't go wrong. 3 stars because I wish they'd update the menu every once in awhile, or maybe bite the bullet on buying regular sized straws and not just using teeny drink stir straws for literally every drink
Scott Steinpas
How can you beat it!? Nothing on the menu over $5 for years! Good, simple authentic Mexican for a great price. Restaurant has great character, friendly and attentive staff with margaritas that will mot break the bank.
Crystal Cakes
Conejitos is definitely one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. I go there all the time and get served with great service along with amazing food. Their rice and beans don't even compare to anyone else's, they are amazing, and definitely the best I've ever had. I have been going here for years and have always enjoyed it every single time. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that likes Mexican food. And another plus is it's cheap but yet still very good. Five stars
Anthony A.
This is the place that if you don't know you better ask somebody it's always absolutely delicious it's one of a kind it's very diverse it's inexpensive and yes, you will get your food on paper plates. 😆 …
Dawn Luko
Needed our dose of pork burritos..just right size no bigger than 2 fingers..but chopped meat tacos are my second fave..n the refried beans..perfect
Jacob Maerzke
This was my first trip to this place. It will NOT be my last!! This place is incredible. When the food comes out you might question it because its on a paper plate. Just try it and you'll understand. I reccomend the sauce from the red bottle at each table. It ROCKS!!! I cant wait to go back.
Argetlam7777 xx
So friendly! Food is amazing! Fast, authentic, and so tasty. I will suggest this place to anyone who enjoys mexican cuisine. It's like mom is in the kitchen and your brother is pouring your drinks.
Daniel McCollum
The food was generally very good, and the portions were large. The cash only policy and the fact that they refuse to split a bill is a bit odd and troublesome. Still, I'd eat there again.
So Thereitis
i have been going here for many many years. given that i looked at the reviews and saw a lot of different reviews, fortunately for you i don't sway my opinion easily. so, the place is small, food is ok it tastes relatively authentic though bland, the floors, tables and inside overall could be updated. the staff was rather quick to take orders although the food took about 10-15 minutes. personally, this is an ok place for a snack, i go to other restaurants for meals....
Jaime Hill
Very good food and I could not stop eating their chips! We had the steak tacos and enchiladas and everything was so yummy and the service was great it was just me and my kids and we had a wonderful time!! We will be back for more!
Megan Otting
The prices for an individual food item are ok, but we got a pitcher of margaritas for an outrageous price and they nickel and dime you for everything. In the end, the price was over $20 per person for less than satisfying food.
Union Blacksmith
This place is AWESOME! I've been eating steak tacos here since I was in high School back in the 70s! Highly recommend, the Guacamole here is outta sight! YUM!
Kelley Rhiley
I have been eating at Conejitos since I was a kid. The Mexican Plate Lunch has ALWAYS been a family favorite. The food is so authentic and the price is right!! The margaritas rock too!!!
Joshua Fleming
Inexpensive, quick, and delicious. Food is served on paper plates, and the filling plate lunch can be had for less than $5. Seating is wherever you want, and there is a bar. The menu has typical Mexican favorites, including molé chicken. This place is a Milwaukee staple.
Jesse Pauly
Just a simple place but incredibly tasty food. Well known place in Milwaukee.
Kris Wilcox
Haven't been here in a long while but still great margaritas and deeeelish eats!
Still think chips and salsa should be free at least if your ordering food too or at least one offering-?
Had enchiladas - YUM !!!!!!
Ed Sahagian-Allsopp
The place that never changes, I know a lot of people who go there and can't say exactly why we all like it so much but we do like it. The fact that it has the same menu and everything tastes like it did 20 years ago makes it feel very familiar. It isn't just the older customers either, the newer ones seem to like it just as much as us older folks. The one change I love is the smoking ban, in the early days you had to inhale a lot of smoke to eat there.
Joe-Ann Landry
Been going here for over 30years,food is always great, and everyone should go here....I always enjoy the atmosphere. But staff on this visit was HORRIBLE!!!!our waitress was rude, and needs a lesson in manners. If it wasnt for another waitress walk in ng by I would of never got silverware. I will continue to go to Conejito's, and hope this was just a waitress having a bad day......here is my TIP for her...leave your bad attitude at home!!!you could be bad for buisness
Cody Fitzwilliams
Not only is this one of my favorite mexican restaurants, it's one of my all time places. No frills. Enchiladas and tacos are popular but I almost always get the plate lunch, spare ribs, or chicken mole. Sunday specials are delicious too.
Scott
Its been years since I took the opportunity to eat at this restaurant.
The food was excellent... the place has a funky set up for covid and has removed stool seats Nd serving food on paper plates.. hence 4 rather than 5 stars
David Mouradian
The traditional Mexican Cuisine menu options has remained relatively unchanged for generations! The menu has all the staples- at an affordable price! Portions are ample, considering the price. Flavors are full bodied with a variety to please any Spanish cuisine fan. Travelers are urged to enjoy this "Must Visit," family restaurant. You have to pick up one of their reasonably priced, brightly colored suvioner T-shirts. Excellent service, friendly attentive staff & full bar- will make this one of your favorite destinations. A truly unique & fun experience was enjoyed on every one of my many visits... over the past 25+ years! (Little known off stree free parking is located about a block south on 6th street, look for the sign on the east side of the street.
Indiana Harries
Oh. My. Gods! So good! So, SO GOOD! The food is just delicious and the margaritas are just plain dangerous! Hehehe. Missing the enchiladas so much. Wish I could pop in any time instead of having to take a 14 hour flight. Would be so worth it though!
Cold Spot
Amazing as always. A true Milwaukee institution. Be careful with the margaritas. There may be alien technology involved because i have had some missing time experiences with them.
Rosa Lopez
Best Mole I've had since my moms! Amazing food period
Sarah Benckenstein
Low cost taco place that has great tacos. Tacos are alway $1 no matter what day you can make it in. The steak tacos are my favorite, and the environment is definitely unique - with a small setting and all meals are served on paper plates!
Jordan Galeles
A family favorite. Affordable, delicious food and charming staff. The only criticisms I have are that I wish they gave larger glasses for water and my environment-friendly self feels guilty about the paper plates. I thoroughly enjoy the pork plate lunch. 😍 …
Colleen Chianese
The food is good but the margaritas are amazing. If you are looking for an upscale Mexican place, go anywhere else. However, if you are looking for tasty classic Mexican food on paper plates with great drinks, pull in here.
Susan Gambetta
I always enjoy going there. It is my place for "comfort Mexican"! Has been for over 20 years. My favorites are the steak and bean tacos or the tostadas. My friend enjoys the huevos rancheros with poached eggs (only on Sundays!) or the chicken mole with dark meat. These items are all less than $5.00! What's not to love?
Kathryn Pundsack
I've been coming here since I was a kid. The food is great and it's a family owned restaurant. For those who are complaining about the management and whatnot, I just wanna mention that Jose, the founder, passed away and that's why there is a change in management. I love this place and have seriously NEVER had a bad experience. I will continue to bring people here.
Zach Heise
The food was delicious and affordable. My partner and I have been all over Mexico and yes, this place is the closest you can get to the cheap Mexican food feel without ordering off a cart in the street. BTW the reviewer that says the sign tells you to remove your valuables and hide them in your car? He's lying, the sign says hide your valuables that are already in your car. Same as a lot of restaurants in this part of town. The sign does not imply that you should remove your valuables from your person and hide them in your car. That said, four stars because they are really busy and service does suffer during the busiest hours.
Rock Dwyer
Normally the staff is really dialed in & normally the food is excellent, I do really like this place! Tonight things were a little off....The food had a few glitches it was just fair, NOT BAD, NOT THE USUAL REALLY GOOD.......Simply just not as really good as normal. The staff may have been getting things ready to close in the next 45 minutes??....So that might have been their distraction? They were not as responsive,as normal.
Sandy Maynard
Excellent Mole with white meat chicken. Plenty to take home.
Rebecca Laabs
Really trying to decide if they place is even worth going to anymore. Service was horribly slow the last time I went. Spent about an hour there trying to get our food. (We only ordered 3 plates of food.) Got to over hear the table next to us had to wait just as long and they ended up with the wrong food and they weren't able to get their correct order.
Meghan Keyes
I have always loved Conejitos but am especially impressed by all of the COVID precautions they are currently taking. Customer service is always top notch - their staff is so friendly and accommodating. 100% recommend for a fun and safe outing!
Addie Jackson
This has been a long time place I've gone to for cheap/good Mexican food. They are always nice there and service is pretty fast.
Thomas Hoffman
I have been going to Conejito's place for over 20 years and have never had a bad experience. It's cheap. It's delicious. And the margaritas kick ass.
I can't believe some of the reviews I'm reading on here. I have to wonder if they were written by a competitor.
Over the years there have been times when they were very busy and we had to wait a bit; big deal!
Having visited there over 100 times a mistake or two may have occurred with my order; so what!
Gizmo trackstar
Not a trendy place, but amazing food. If you are looking to impress someone with a fancy place keep going. If you want to impress them with great food, stop here! I've been coming here for 40 years!!
Jeremiah Brod
Best Mexican food in Wisconsin. I've been coming to Conejitos for over 20 years. I have not been disappointed in their service until recently. I have worked as a server many years myself. No one seems to know what they are doing. Manager dismissed me and did absolutely nothing to rectify the terrible service. After taking our order we never saw our server again, he was totally MIA. Does the owner just not care about this place???? This is my favorite place and it breaks my heart.
Keith Schroeder
A Southside icon for Mexican food. Good service, no frills, food was good. Ya gotta go just to say ya been there.
Leona R
My family has been coming here for years! My son currently wanted to come to conejitos for his birthday dinner, the back dinning area was closed at the time we came. We have a small toddler with us who needs to be in a high chair and they opened up the back room for us to give us a table that our whole family was able to sit at comfortably
Joseph BUtler
Where else can you get authentic Mexican meals like 4 steak tacos beans and rice for 6 bucks. Whenever we can be in Milw we try to get there. The best refried beans on the planet. Been going there since the early 80's..
Bridget Graper
The service was outstanding. I felt very comfortable as they take all proper precautions to make clientele feel safe in this pandemic. Food and drinks were fantastic I enjoyed myself and was comfortable.
Melissa Beaber
Excellent food and strong margaritas! Love at first bite!
Simon Brown
They have amazing value - great food, portions, and very low prices. The staff I've engaged with are solid, as well. If you are looking for luxury - go somewhere else. If you are looking for a hearty, no frills Mexican meal, then visit Conejitos.
Martin Cable
This place is the bomb!! The food comes out fast, its inexpensive and totally delicious!! They make excellent margaritas! It has atmosphere. Great hospitality. It's worth every peso!!
Marie Czerwinski
This has been a favorite of my family's for over 35 years. Love their steak and bean tacos, chicken enchiladas, plate lunch and of course the guacamole.
Faraday Sage (Faraday)
Cheap fast food but LOUD environment. Served on paper plates (except bowl meals). Coke tasted Mexican (real sugar) but was told it wasnt. No Columbiana or Inca Cola but this is a MEXICAN place, so that is fine. Not a lot of parking and a few hipster places nearby so parking close to here is a memory of the past. Burritos are huge, tacos are great.
John Wilks
Everyone visiting the South Side of Milwaukee should experience Conehitos at least once, but no doubt you will return again and again for the tasty food and awesome margaritas. Not fancy and a somewhat limited menu but you will love it.
Brandon Elkert
My favorite Mexican restaurant in Milwaukee. Don't let the paper plates fool you. They serve awesome food at a great price. I highly recommend the chicken mole!
Linda Camp
This Mexican restaurant was once a little hole-in-the-wall that I used to go to 20 years ago when I resided in Milwaukee. they've upgraded their decor, but they've never had to change their food as it's always been excellent. I had the huervos Ranchero special plate for Sunday, it was delicious and just enough food at a very very reasonable price. I love conejitos.
Kyle Kolhouse
Fantastic food! Prices are right and the food tastes great.
Chad C
This place is fantastic. I've been coming her for over 10 years. Food prices are so low you can't pass it up. Food is tasty, no frills. Just a great place. Margaritas kick your butt.
Robert Radke
This place is a true Milwaukee icon! People will either love it or hate it. The service can be sketchy sometimes and this definitely is not fine dining, but it is good food at a cheap price. 2 margaritas will change your outlook on the day. Its worth a shot to see which category you fall into, love or hate. If you a true blue collar Milwaukee native, odds are you'll love it. If you are a food snob or expect the same overpriced crap that is dished out at every other place , don't go to Conejitos.
Victorious Oak
Holy smokes! I had family in from out of town and they requested "real Mexican food" , and this place didn't disappoint at all. Amazing apps, good service, and chicken mile that was out of this world. I know I'll be back here again, it's pretty much unavoidable.
David Dixon
Always great food and super cheap and gotta love the paper plates
Michael Harnden
Best mole in the tri-state area - chase that down w a few pork burritos and your set! This place never disappoints! However, I've only ever ordered those two items.
Stefanie Noack
Not happy about the price increases. The food isn't quality enough to match the increases. This restaurant will always have a place in my heart but we are unlikely to return for dinner. Maybe a Marg and salsa!
Ben Holter
You can never go wrong with conejito's place. If you are look for low cost high value food and drinks then this is a place to go! Get the beans and chips and enchiladas, as they are something special for conejito's. Be aware, their margarita pitchers come without ice and are on the strong side. Share accordingly! Come here expecting a good time, not fancy food and a wide variety and you will be very happy.
Jon “The Web Tech” McLaren
Good tacos good price, my co-workers love the food. I'd say it's good, not spectacular. Food also comes on a paper plate, kinda different they did a great april fools joke though
Jane Bartmann
Always delicious. Every. Single. Time.
Dean Koch
This is a low end generic restaurant. You will at $2 for a few chips and a very small bowl of not so good salsa. Taco bell is better in this case and less expensive.
Michael Mack
As a Milwaukee classic it's hard to say anything bad about this place. The food comes on paper plates and it's by far the most delicious Mexican food for the price. If you haven't been to this legendary spot, you owe it to yourself to pop in.
Sean Cayce
Awesome authentic Mexican food best place in Milwaukee
Craig Burbey
Some people cannot get over eating off of paper plates. Except when my enchiladas are welded onto the paper plate because of over microwaving I do not care. Their tostadas are light, flavorful and taste unlike any other. The margs always hit the spot. I can understand why some people do not like the setting, but I consider it fun shabby chic.
Denise Tracy
Yum. I've been coming here forever. Love the cheese enchiladas, rice, beans and guac. Margaritas have tequila in them as opposed to other cantinas. Always a treat. Community seating is the best. Love Conejitos no frills approach.❣️
Sean Fennig
Was recommended by a friend for the margaritas, went strictly due that. Drinks were ok but only had one so they def could have been better
Billy Daniels
Classic Mexican food served on paper plates. It's so cheap that it makes you wonder if they haven't reprinted the menu since the 80s. Try the (semi-secret) lunch plate and the mole chicken.
Stephanie Kohnke
Not much in the way of atmosphere, but food is really good. They recently had a price increase, but still not a bad value. Kind of humorous that food comes on a paper plate.
Tracy LEE
AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE AND GREAT FOOD!!!
Annamaria Zarate
Best authentic Mexican food, super cheap. Only reason it didn't get 5 starts is because customer service is not that great. The wait staff is in a rush to get you in get you served and get you out and are short with customers
Danny “Geezy Glider” Norris
Fast, cheap and delicious. Just like it was in college 35 years ago.
Mke Mel
Best beans in Mke!!! NO contest. Try the chopped meat tacos with a little hot sauce - you won't be disappointed. Been coming here for 20 years. Simple and delicious.
Charles Hill
Great place, been in business like forever. No frills, reasonable prices for food..and drinks. Fast and friendly service, and it has been that way for as long as I can remember.
Melissa Castellini
My favorite Mexican restaurant! Authentic food, really great prices, and the service is always prompt and very friendly. The ONLY thing even SLIGHTLY wrong, are portion sizes. The plates could be A BIT larger.
Theodore Salgado
Linger with beans and chips, salsa and long necks. It's a parade of characters who come and go or linger. Gotta experience it. Families, babies, oldies, second chance couples. Theyve got it all. We're regulars, great food and service. We have the pick of the tables, asking first of course. Within a minute, maybe two, they plop down our usual drink order and confirm our usual order. When family is with us, they're on us with great service, smiles. Best refried beans in Milwaukee. I think I figured out their recipe but not telling.
TimmyD
This is the most consistently good Mexican food and margaritas, at conservative prices (ok, so what if the food is served on paper plates, that keeps the prices down) that I have found! It must be good, I've been coming back here for the last 40 years!!
Diallo Lopez
Cheap Mexican food. Good spot if you are low on funds.
drea drea
Cool laid back spot, food not very flavorful. They use paper plates. I would recommend this place only if all other Mexican resturants are closed. Staff very nice though.
Alonzo Garza
Conejitos may be the cheapest Mexican food place (cheapest food place in Milwaukee actually), but that doesn't mean it's not the best. Cheap food, cheap drinks, a good vibe, and it's all really good too, this place has it all. You can even go to one of the many breweries or distilleries in the area afterwards.
Mike R
Best mexican food I have ever had. Sure it served on a paper plate but who cares, the food is amazing. I have been going here since I was 6 and twenty ish some years later still love coming to this place.
Dylan Neinas
Amazing authentic Mexican food. Very on point staff and nice location. There is a restaurant side and a bar side you can enjoy. Great tasting food that is easy on the pocket.
Steve Voster
The prices are so low, you would assume the food isn't good. Quite the opposite. We love the tostadas , and a family of 4 can eat for $20 and be satisfied.
Sydney Leppien
seriously best mexican food in milwaukee, and probably one of my favorite restaurants. simple food with amazing flavor. service is amazing too, love it here
Matthew Skelton
If you haven't eaten here you should. Best Mexican food I've ever had. I go here AT LEAST once a week. Get the white meat mole (pronounced MO-LAY).
David Cannon
Very good basic Mexican meals served in a cozy atmosphere. The food is on paper plates and is not spicy but is very satisfying. Friendly attentive staff.
Dan Lentsch
Conjetos is the most authentic Mexican restaurant in Milwaukee. Been going here for 20 years, and it's still as good as ever! Make sure to get the chips with beans and cheese as a starter!
Kathleen Donovan
Always a great place to go for inexpensive and delicious Mexican food. The interior hasn't changed in about 50 years and we love it that way.
Amber Ascher
Conejito's serves up simple, authentic, fast and super cheap Mexican eats. The chicken enchiladas are my favorite - nothing fancy but filling and cheesy! Get rice and beans for an extra few cents and load up on the red sauce.
Keith Rush
When you enter Conejito's Place you leave behind the drudgery of your day for a precious hour of contetnment. Conejito's Place is the greatest restaurant at which I have ever eaten, bar none. The chicken mole is fantastic, the atmosphere is incredible, the staff is saccharine. You will be treated like royalty and shocked by the experience. Guaranteed. That a Place like Conejito's exists in 2017 America restores my overtaxed faith in humanity.
Taylor Amann
By far the best Mexican restaurant in the city. Super cheap, delicious, and authentic. I have been going with my family for my whole life.
